Bowling For Columbine Discussion Questions
who still don t murder each other nearly as frequently. In the end, Moore asks a lot of questions
about the nature of American society, and while he doesn t always give us answers, he does
conclude that the United States is a nation that is filled with both too many guns and way too much
fear (Weschler, 2003).
In the Bowling for Columbine documentary has been partly dramatized in regard to some of the

Queen of Knives
It Might Have Gone Something Like This In Queen of Knives , Neil Gaiman exemplifies how
unreliable our narrator is in dealing with death and derangement. Through this naГЇve narration, we
are presented with a story in which the narrator; a young boy at that time, recalls how a magician
vanishes his grandmother during a magic show. Upon closer analysis we will see that Gaiman
actually implies that the grandmother has died causing the grandfather to go crazy from the death
of his wife. In order for our narrator to cope with traumatic experience of losing a loved one and
witnessing his grandfather lose his mind he blends the story with memories. The poem is set up as
a flashback which further gives credibility to our narrator s erroneous... Show more content on

Before the story begins a quote looms above the passage reading The reappearance of the lady is
a matter of individual taste (Gaiman 122). This should be an initial signal to readers that a
woman disappears. What we believe to be the initial act of the show is in fact the entrance of
funeral. Gaiman uses subtle imagery to hint at what is really happening. Early on in the poem
we see a line where the boy recalls a gray walk with his grandmother along a promenade. Then
during the show thunder rolls this is to create a melancholy mood and represent Pearl s sadness
along with depression at the funeral. We are told that the people there are all elderly friends and
family attending the ceremony. The boy references looking at a dancer and seeing flowers appear.
Perhaps what actually happened is that a lady came in to the viewing and brought customary
flowers for the deceased. When the magician, symbolically representing God, appears on stage
with a box that strikingly resembles a coffin both in size and color he points to the boy s
grandmother. In italics the grandfather tells Pearl to go on up with the man (Gaiman 124). This is
a clear hint that he has is dealing with the death of his wife. The scene where she obliges the
magician is portrayed as her walking down the aisle and up the steps. We could

How Did Gandhi Influence British Imperialism
Throughout modern history, Britain s exponential growth inevitably affected the future of many
nations in the contemporary world in particular, the culturally intertwined state of India. Even in the
initial stages of colonisation, India was forcefully occupied by the British East India Company;
however, it was not until 1858 that a dictatorship was officially announced and the nation was
forced to regard England as the true homeland . Amidst societal unease and a growing discontent
with the British rulers by the poor peasants, India s emancipation seemed inevitable in order for the
nation to truly progress. In effect, a revolutionary leader spawned; Mohandas Gandhi. His great
philosophical mind held innovative ideas which were instrumental in the achievement of Indian
Independence with his thoughtful ideologies and beliefs paving the way for oppressed Indians to
ultimately unite against British imperialism. Consequently, this resulted in the monumental
Satyagraha campaign that triumphed successfully against the British authorities. In spite of fierce
British opposition to India s pleas for self governance, Gandhi continually pressed for a peaceful
response to the dire situation; effectively promoting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Paul Von Hindenburg Argument
In the words of Max Weber, This lecture, which I give at your request, will necessarily disappoint
you in a number of ways. I begin here to let the reader know I do not intend on conforming to the
regular hypothesis in the case of Paul Ludwig Hans Anton von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg,
more commonly known as Paul von Hindenburg. This general hypothesis on his character may
paint him as a villain in the eyes of history, however, I will argue here that he was forced into a
situation of unfortunate circumstances. His case consists of many political and military ups and
downs and he is most famously known for appointing Adolf Hitlerto the position of chancellor and
therefore plunging the Nazi party into power. This one choice by Hindenburg was the first domino
to fall in the sequence of events leading to the second world war and ultimately for the death of 50...

In this essay I will argue for neither option provided by the prompt as I feel the options provided
are not mutually exclusive. I will be arguing that this political leader both shaped democracy as
Germany knew it and that his actions were constrained by the pre existing circumstances. I will
argue that the existing political climate in which Hindenburg was elected to was already on the
way to radicalism. Furthermore, I will also use historical evidence to help prove that his
decisions did help to shape modern Germany. Each choice a leader makes has the potential to
shape a world for years to come. Throughout history we see time and time again one pivotal
choice that had a butterfly effect and created a massive change in the way history occurred. I am
arguing that Paul von Hindenburg s decision to promote Hitler to this position of power, even if
reluctantly, was one that has had a major impact on history as we now know

Mcdonalds vs Wendys
McDonald s vs. Wendy s
In a world that is full of low fat low carbohydrate diets and compulsive daily exercise, people seem
to be more conscientious with their choices of foods they consume; but the twenty first century
demands convenience where fast food restaurants incorporates ones needs for quick, easy, and ,
inexpensive food. Sadly, the majority of this type of food can be a very unhealthy food choice. Fast
food restaurants typically offer high fat processed foods. In defense to this stereotype, two of the
most popular fast food restaurants, Wendy s and McDonald s, are now offering choices low in
carbohydrates and saturated fats on their menu without taking away the convenience and taste. Both

It is very hard to ignore that Wendy s variety of delicious salads have become one of the more
popular meal choices. According to wendystimeline.com was the first major fast food restaurant to
offer the salad as the main course. Wendy s did offer side salads prior to that, but never as the
main course and they didn t offer as large of a variety as the Garden Sensations salads that are on
their menu today. Wendy s offers four salads that range from three grams of fat to a whopping
thirty grams, the more toppings the higher the fat grams. The quality and variety of Wendy s
salads has helped them to establish a very popular reputation for the fast food chain. In
McDonald s defense to the huge demand of Wendy s salads, they too are offering their salads as
the main course. At one time, in attempt to portray a healthy image, McDonald s offered a
stepometer with a salad order for a short time. The fat grams of McDonald s salads are very
comparable to Wendy s Garden Sensations.
Good presentation, meal variety, and several salad choices, are all part of the evaluation a fast
food chain. In today s era one is searching for a fast and easy way to eat healthy, and with fast
food chains like Wendy s and McDonalds, is making the healthier choices much easier. Most

Religious Conflict Of Dante s Inferno
Jessica Gay World Literature Dr. Schott 9 November 2014 Religious Conflict in Dante s Inferno
Critics Daniel Tompsett and Donald Winchester and literary scholar Nicole Rudick have argued
that Dante s Inferno is a dark and hopeless telling of how we are all relegated to sin and lack the
will or righteousness to turn from sin and temptation. Tompsett and Winchester state that, The
placement of living figures in each section was a judgment and a condemnation, albeit
subjective, on both history and the people he knew (Tompsett). They both agree that Dante is
painting a picture of the dredges of society and the torture that they must endure as a result of
their inability to turn from sin. They also quote scholar David H. Higgins to say that Dante
arguably believed he was writing a gospel to convert his recalcitrant age (Tompsett). Scholar and
critic Nicole Rudick confirms this portrayal of dismal hopelessness with her comment, Dante
created a rigid view of good and evil, showing no mercy for those who did not repent during their
lifetimes and sparing no one in his accounting of misdeeds, vice, immorality, and generally
inappropriate comportment (Rudick 29). It is my opinion that the aforementioned scholars and
critics are missing Dante s point. When I read the poem I am overcome with quite the opposite
view. I believe that a better way to interpret Dante s poem is to consider that he was asking each
of us to reflect on our waywardness and sin and to come to the

Examples Of Anglo Domination
Three examples of how Mexicans in New Mexico, California, and Texas resisted Anglo
domination from the documentary, The Latino Americans, is through the court systems in
California, land domination in New Mexico, and the battle of the Alamo in Texas. The first
example of resistance against Anglo domination is that of Mariano Vallejo, a Mexican elite who
owned a 65,000 acre spread of land in California where he made of living through grape vines and

Descartes Method Of Doubt Analysis
Descartes method of doubt entails an approach that doubts or questions the truth about everything
that one believes. This method of questioning aims at guaranteeing one s beliefs about reality and
identifying what is indubitable. Through his approach, Descartes asserts that one should claim to
know only that which one has defense for and insists that one should judge one s ideas using a
method that promises the accuracy of such ideas. This paper will explain Descrates method of
doubt, what he hopes to accomplish from his method and the objections to this method. Accepting

evidence to suspect all of the human senses for mistaking. Another school of thought argues that if
one doubts everything, just like Descartes, then one must also doubt whether one is truly doubting.
This argument seems to flaw the method of reaching an indubitable principle through doubt
because appealing to a general understanding of what doubt means, undermines the process.

Green living is one of the hottest topics in the 21h century since we are facing the shortage of
resources and the degradation of the environment. Waste sorting, recycling, light saving and so

John Kennedy Toole s The Confederacy Of Dunces
In The Confederacy of Dunces, John Kennedy Toole conveys several dysfunctional relationships
including Ignatius and his mother. Ignatius lives with his mother even though he is thirty years old
and has a Master s degree. Mrs. Reilly s strange obsessive relationship with Ignatius and her failure
to parent him leaves Ignatius without a sense of reality or any independence. The relationship
continues to dwindle through the novel as the dysfunction culminates in Mrs. Reilly wanting to
commit Ignatius to a mental institution. She believes the mental institution will protect him over
prison along with giving her freedom to live her life.
Mrs. Reilly gives her complete attention to Ignatius and treats him like a 12 year old boy who
still needs her, even though he is an educated 30 year old man. Ignatius lacks self control, which
leads to obesity and health problems and yet when he says, Momma, I sure feel like a jelly

The purpose of this essay is to discuss the clinical differences in the diagnosis of both Major
Depressive Disorder (Unipolar depression) and Bipolar Depression can be made on the basis of
characteristics of a Major Depressive Episode (MDE). That is, can an MDE in patients with
Major Depressive Disorder be differentiated from a MDE in patients with Bipolar Disorder?
Firstly, the extremes in mood, Major Depressive Episode and mania/hypomania will be defined
and it will be explained how they contribute to a diagnosis of MDD or Bipolar Disorder based on
the diagnostic criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Secondly, the
importance of differentiating the two disorders based on MDE characteristics will be explained.
Thirdly, the literature on the clinical characteristics of MDE in Bipolar and Unipolar Depression

Banana- Musa Paradisiaca
Banana (Musa paradisiaca)
How it can be grown at home:
Basically, from personal experience, Bananas are one of the easiest plants to grow.
Most of the homes in Brunei have Banana plants grown in their backyard.
They can grow even without any proper care for example like my banana trees in my home which
grew by themselves.
However since they are not being properly taken care of, they rarely bare fruits. Bananas can be
grown like any other plant. They require good soil, sunlight and nutrients.
However Banana plants also need special care in order to grow healthy. Avoid using infected
suckers to grow new banana trees.
Feed the plants with plenty of fertilizers every month as they are nutritious plants. They will require
sufficient fertilizers to produce all the nutrients.
They are usually propagated vegetatively by division. Their suckers or pups that rise from the base
of the main stem or from underground corm are removed and plant them to make new banana trees.
Another propagation method is by tissue culture where the plantlets are produced in a laboratory.
This is the best method and cost effective to produce good quality bananas.

The Prevalence Of Pressure Ulcers
The prevalence of pressure ulcers in elderly patients is of an epidemic proportion (Bansal, Scott,
Stewart, Cockerell, 2005). The annual cost of treating pressure ulcers in the United States
(U.S.) is estimated at more than $20 billion and is increasing (Jones, 2013). Pressure ulcers
occur when an injury is caused to the skin and underlying tissue at the pressure points resulting
in transient or permanent damage to the underlying tissue (Margolis, 1995). The prevalence is
seen in patients who are immobile because of chronic health conditions or lying on hard surfaces
for prolonged periods (Pham et al., 2011). A pressure ulcer can be disruptive and disabling to
frail elderly patients (Landi, Onder, Russo Bernabei, 2007). A pressure ulcer can also result in
complications, which can lead to mortality (Nigel Chow, 2002; Gary, Berlowitz Paul, 2001).
Development of pressure ulcers is no longer limited to acute or sub acute facilities alone. As the
population is aging, more elderly are receiving heath care in their homes (Ablaza Fisher, 1998).
As a result, all stages of pressure ulcers are also seen in the homes (Park Lee Caffrey, 2009).
However, there are limited studies that show the magnitude of the problem when compared to
acute, sub acute, and nursing homes (Asimus Li, 2011). This project will conduct a retrospective
chart review at a community based primary care provider to determine the prevalence of pressure

Inner Evil in Lord of the Flies by William Golding Essay
Inner Evil Throughout the novel Lord Of The Flies, the boys on the island are continuously faced
with numerous fears. Subsequently there is nothing on the island which they fear more than the
beast. The beast is not a tangible object that can be killed or destroyed by conventional means, but
an idea symbolizing the primal savage instincts within all people. Its Golding s intention to
illustrate the innate evil inside man through his view of human nature, the actions of the Jack and
his tribe, and the relationship between the beast and the school boys. Golding wanted to reveal to
the reader his point of view and theory of human nature. He wanted to make it clear that each

Their desire to please the beast leads them into golding s theory of inner evil, shown by the
gruesome slaughtering of the pigs and the Lord of the Flies itself, a gift to the supernatural
creature. The Lord of the Flies is a direct translation to Beelzebub, which is name given to the
devil in the bible. From this we can take Golding s perspective and motives not to express the
relationship between the Pig s head and the boys but human nature and evil. Soon the hunters lose
sight of their school boy origins and their compassion, seeking only to hunt pigs and increase the
tribe members or kill anyone standing in their way. This is a direct outcome from the beast who
leads the boys into savagery and violence further developing their own inner beast. The
relationship between the beast and the school boys is played out through the conversation
between Simon and the Lord of the Flies. The Lord of the Flies or pig head tries to intimidate
and forewarn Simon calling him, just an ignorant, silly little boy (184) and scoffs at Simon for
thinking the beast is something you could hunt or kill! (184) Golding uses this symbolic beast, the
Lord of the Flies, to reveal the truth to Simon which is that they (184) the boys on the island are
the real beast. Before Simon faints the Lord of the Flies warms Simon that

Examples Of Greasers In The Outsiders

Dally breaking up in the hospital and crumbling in the streets is almost meaning how Dally
reacted to Johnny died and then leaded up to him dying. The parts where Ponyboy says don t
think of this is to take it off his mind and try to feel better about the two deaths. The greasers also
respect Ponyboy, for example, during an argument towards the end of the book Darry said to
Ponyboy Sure, little buddy (84). Another example of the greasers respecting Ponyboy is how
Johnny helps Ponyboy feel better a lot of in a lot of conflicts. For instance, getting hit or getting
almost drowned. Ponyboy positively accepted being a greaser and he is committed to being a
greaser. Some people might think that Ponyboy has the stereotype of a hero and not a greaser,
because he, Johnny and Dally saved the kids at the burning church. I swear, you three are the
bravest kids I ve seen in a long time. (42), after saving the trapped kids Ponyboy, Johnny, and

Using Trademe As My Case
I have chosen to use TradeMe as my case. TradeMe is an online website that connects sellers to
buyers and also buyers to sellers. TradeMe is the middle man or connection between both
parties. The selling of goods or services works through an auction system instead of the classic,
one price and that is it. This system benefits both buyers and sellers, the buyer can get products
for cheap and sellers could also get a lot more than anticipated from their goods or services.
TradeMe is a New Zealand based website and has quickly became a very popular site, having over
3.9 million active users, and 7.7 thousand peoplevisiting the site every day (TradeMe, April 2016).
New New media is communication channels that have been created recently. These channels
interact with the user and give the user the ability to talk and communicate between other users in
real time. Social networking is a prime example of new new media, blogs, Twitter or even
YouTube all fall into the category of new new media, were as emails would fall into new media
due to their introduction times and limiting factors. New new media summed up is users
interacting with other users on a massive scale. Let us single out YouTube as an example, YouTube
gives users with massive interaction through: likes, dislikes, shares, favourites or even reports. The
content creators can get feedback in many different forms on their creations, the biggest feedback

Northanger Abbey Compare And Contrast Essay
Jane Austen has written many passionate novels. Each book is unique in its own way, but two
books are particularly similar. In the book Northanger Abbey the main character, Catherine
Morland is a confident and independent woman. She is curious and has an overactive imagination
that can get her into trouble. I acknowledge, and dreadfully derogatory of a heroine s dignity but
if it be as new in common life, the credit of a wild imagination will at least be all my own
Northanger Abbey, pg. 297. In one of Austen s other novels, Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet

The Clean Water Act ( 80 Fed )
Over the years many requests have been made for new regulations pertaining to the waters of the
United States , adopted in 1986 under the Clean Water Act (Clean Water Rule, 2015, p. 165).
Advocating change were members of Congress, developers, farmers, state and local governments,
energy companies, and many others requested new regulations to make the process of identifying
waters protected under the CWA clearer, simpler, and faster (Clean Water Rule, 2015, p.13). In
response to these requests the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers
published the Clean Water Rule: Definition of Waters of the United Statesfederal regulation (80 Fed.
Reg. 37054) on June 29, 2015 (Clean Water Rule, 2015, p.13).
It is evident the scope of the Clean Water Actneeds to be clarified, because the term navigable
waters is used in a number of provisions of the CWA including sections; 402 National Pollutant
Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program, 404 permit program, 311 oil spill
prevention and response program, 303 total maximum daily load programs (TMDL), 401 state
water quality certification process, all of which impact state and local governments (Clean Water
Rule, 2015, p.25).
Problems with the New Rule
Before the Clean Water Rule was published in Federal Register there was controversy over several
different aspects of the new rule and its implementation. The controversy has led to a U.S. Circuit

Debeers s Diamond Dilemm A Case Study
DeBeers s Diamond Dilemma: A Case Study
Introduction
The DeBeers s group of companies is a leading diamond exploration, mining, retail and trading
company that was founded in 1888. The organization has its headquarters in Luxembourg and has
mining agreements in close to 30 countries inclusive of the world s leading diamond producers such
as South Africa, Botswana, Canada and Namibia (Cadieux, 2005). The company enjoys one of
the leading market shares in the natural diamond industry with a current share of around 40%.
However, this is a noted decline from past decades where it controlled up to 80% of the world s
diamond supply by the 1990s. The decline noted in its apparent monopoly was caused by a number
of factors including the rise of new suppliers outside of its control. Additionally, negative press
threatened its reputation as it was accused of unfair monopolistic and anti competitive practices,
price fixing and even dabbling in the supply and distribution of the controversial blood diamonds.
A more significant threat for the company has been the rise of the synthetic diamond market
where essentially real diamonds are manufactured within plants and don t have to undergo
millions of years of formation underground in addition to grueling extraction processes. These
diamonds possess a lot of quality while being sold at a fraction of the prices of natural diamonds
and have seen a rise in demand and in the total diamond market share. While DeBeers has played

Analysis Of Stew s Ungrateful Father In Tiny, Smiling Daddy
Ungrateful father Being a father can be hard, and just like in Tiny, Smiling Daddy written by
Mary, Gaitskill it shows that the father was unable to learn from his father. Tiny, Smiling Daddy
explains what a father put his daughter through can be stressful, and especially because his
daughter is gay. The troubled, loathsome character of Tiny, Smiling Daddy is revealed through
third person omniscient point of view. Stew the father of Kitty is troubled from his past,
creating issues as a father. Stew is doesn t have many memories of his father, because of how early

Kitty hasn t set the table after being asked four times, Kitty has gone to her friends after school
instead of coming straight home, and Kitty has worn a dress to school that was short enough to
show off her pantyhose (457). This all added to how much Stew would loath his daughter for
being a lesbian and now never listened. Stew s loathing for his daughter was strong enough to the
point where he punched Kitty and knocked her down, because his wife threw stuff out that
belonged to Kitty (458). The narrator says, then he would remember that she was a lesbian, and a
morass of complication and wrongness would come down between them, making it impossible for
him to see her (458). It always came back to his daughter being a lesbian that forced him to loath
Kitty more. Everything the Narrator is telling the reader is, because of third person

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
The book The 7 habits of highly effective people by Stephen R. Covey impressed me many ways.
They were very easy to understand and Stephan s principles can be used in our everyday lives.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. Learning habits to
change us, is a very painful process and need to have a higher purpose to motivate ourselves.
However, if we put our effort to change our habits, we will see immediate benefits. We are what
we are because of choices we make and habits we learn throughout our lives. This book effectively
tells us what we need to do in order to become an effective person. Stephan discusses seven
important habits habits, because changes must happen within us. Seven habits are that we must be
proactive, we need to begin with the end in mind, we need to put first things first, we need to think
win win, we need to seek to understand and to be understood, we need to learn how to synergize
and we must sharpen the saw.
I learnt seven important habits to become an effective people in business world.
The first habit I learnt is that we need to be proactive and be able to make a right decision. I was
never a proactive person. I always expected somebody else will do it for me and hoped that thing
would just happen. However, this was a bad habit. i must always remember that I am responsible
for my life. Someone else cannot live my life instead of me. I have the ability to think for myself

The funding was taken from Baltimore s local county highway improvement project. The funding
reallocation creates two major problems for Baltimore. The first problem is that city commuters
use the local highway daily to get to work. Secondly, funding for the Baltimore s rapid bus service
to transport commuters to the city no longer exist and therefore increasing traffic congestion.
Commuters now have to endure increasing traffic congestion because more cars are on as road that
cannot improve because funding was given to another project.
Comparing the financial cost of the interstate with the cost of having to reallocate funding or
stopping programs in an effort to decrease traffic congestion will create a greater economic
downturn if not done in moderation as well as a decrease in confidence in lawmakers. The
lawmakers will feel the decrease in confidence by citizens during elections. Unless the local
government can generate and use other sources of revenue to continue highway improvement, the
decision to remove the city s funding is not practical.
Revenue Sources
Baltimore is no different than any other metropolitan city trying to close the gap between its
resources and meeting the needs of the city. In past years the city s major source of resources came
from state and federal funding to finance projects such as road improvements. Because the

Sociological Perspectives
If a parent has a low socioeconomic status and a low level of educational attainment, will their child
likely have a low grade point average? Can a parent s involvement in their child s education and
school improve that student s grades? Does being a minority and a teacher affect a teacher s
experiences in the workplace? Questions like these are ones that sociologists attempt to answer by
means of multiple paradigms. The five major paradigms that sociologists utilize are symbolic
interactionism, exchange theory, structural functionalism, conflict theory, and feminist theory.
Symbolic interactionism looks at symbols within a society to understand how individuals interact
with one another. Exchange theory explains how people make decisions, through the premise that
individuals aim to risk the least and gain the most.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conflict theory is about how the groups which make up societies struggle because of scarcity and
self interest. Feminist theory is the concept that genders are not treated equally because societies
are generally centered around men. Through the lens of each of these perspectives, sociologists
strive to explain trends and norms that exist in society. Each of these theories is like a different
pair of shoes for sociologists to step into and view society from a new angle. These various
potential viewpoints are useful to both society and sociologists. Sociologists benefit from
paradigms because they can study society from a neutral standpoint that isn t limiting the way their
own personal understanding could be. When sociologists can find reason within society by using
these theories, they can also figure out where changes need to be made for the better in

Project Risk Management At Ernst And Young Next Summer
Problem 1
I decided to research the article Shift the Focus of the PMO From IT Project Risk Management
to Business Investment Risk Management. This topic interests me because I will be interning at
Ernst and Young next summer and will be primarily engaged in IT risk advisory, with an
emphasis on financial services. I want to develop an understanding of the type of work I will
perform in this position and believe this topic relates most appropriately to the position. The title
suggests that the article will be a higher level analysis, something I was looking for when choosing
an article.
The article focused on the benefits of shifting the emphasis from IT governance to business
change governance. This aids the PMO to see the full scope of all the risks involved in projects and
portfolios. The article provided six classes for risks. These were technology risk, schedule risk,
complexity risk, operational risk, business risk, and organizational risk. Contrary to popular belief,
multiple surveys indicate that technology risk is rarely the most important factor for an initiative.
These risks are then weighed and reviewed for potential hedging options. The article concluded
with the benefits of the PMO delegating ownership. The PMO will maintain a higher level view
of the project and gain significantly improved chances for success. IT may in some cases retain an
IT PMO as a subset of the enterprise PMO, especially for IT infrastructure projects, but the

A Brief Note On Hunger And Food Insecurity
II.The Issue A.In your own words, describe the presenting issue facing the community. In our
current economic crisis, many people have had to make tough choices and have ended up
unable to provide food for themselves and the ones they love. In Florida, we are faced with an
alarming number of people who are hungry without a secure source of food for themselves and
their families. B.Research and Trends (please use more than one source when answering this
question) In 2006, CNSTAT(The Committee on National Statistics) asked the USDA to clarify
and make a clear distinction between hunger and food insecurity. What the USDA came back
with was the following definitions (USDA, 2014): Food insecurity, is a household level
economic and social condition of limited or uncertain access to adequate food. Hunger is an
individual level physiological condition that may result from food insecurity (USDA, 2014,
CNSTAT Review and Recommendations, para. 3). One of the main causes of food insecurity is
Poverty. In 2012, the percentage of adults and children afflicted by poverty in Pinellas County
was calculated, and the percentage they found with was a startling and quite worrisome number.
It was estimated that 14% of adults and 21% of children in Pinellas County are in poverty. That s
over 130,000 Pinellas County residents who are in poverty and may not be able to afford their

Principles of Sustainability
Green Champion Paper
Brewing of a Sustainable Idea
In the current day and age, environmental issues are beginning to be considered more frequently
in business decision and in governmental policy. The current threat of global warming, sea level
rise, ocean acidification, and extinction of species highlight the consequences of not being
environmentally aware. Even the smallest green decisions like choosing to car pool or to recycle
can be decisions that have a huge impact that positively effects the environment. These decisions
can have far reaching implications. For instance, someone who witnesses these green decisions
may be inspired to make environmentally conscious decisions as well. Much in the same way
people could be inspired, businesses can be inspired as well. Creating a sustainability initiative in a
business can be extremely positive and rewarding. For this reason, I think it is vital that the local
beer brewing company, COOP Ale Works, adopt a sustainability program. Many breweries have
adopt sustainable framework, two such examples are New Belgium Brewing and Sierra Nevada. I
believe by implementing some of these ideals into their brewing process COOP can inspire other
businesses to become more sustainable. In this paper I will mention the current problems with the
brewing process, highlight the changes that can be made based off of current implementation at
breweries, and present a four point plan to

The, Loss Suffered By Holden Acts As A Contributing Factor...
Similarly, loss suffered by Holden acts as a contributing factor to his inner turmoil and mental
illness. Holden s younger brother Allie passed away in 1946, and has haunted Holden ever
since. He states: He s dead now. He got Leukaemia and died. The bluntness with which Holden
reveals his death is representative of the effective use of simple language on the part of Salinger.
Complex vocabulary is not used because it is not needed the incident stands out more against a
plainer backdrop. The fact that Allie died of Leukaemia also makes the event more devastating.
He died extremely prematurely and Holden s downfall suggests that his death impacted him in a
huge way. Holden was intensely fond of his brother and refers to him throughout the entirety of
the novel. He comments: You would have liked him when personally addressing the reader. We
therefore feel involved in his story and emotion is evoked when we hear of his passing. It also
acts as an explanation for Holden s difficulties. He struggles immensely throughout adolescence as
he fails to accept the transition from childhood to adulthood, perhaps because he described Allie
as mature for his age. This could perhaps be why Holden has such negative associations with
growing older: all he sees ahead is death. Therefore, loss endured by both Holden and Esther leads
to their eventual depressionand isolation from society.
Furthermore, depression and isolation of characters also stems from failure in the academic

The Bobo Doll Experiment Importance In Psychology
Bobo Doll Experiment Importance in Psychology The Bobo Doll Experiment was an experiment
conducted by Albert Bandura and his colleagues. The experiment was to overall find results to the
question, do children act aggressively if they grow up watching aggressive behavior? The
conductor gathered participants for the study and got results showing that yes, children do tend to
act more aggressive when they grow up around adults acting in an aggressive behavior. Bandura
believed that children get their behaviors by the behaviors they watch, and after he performed his
study, his results were believed to be supportive of his hypothesis.
What is this Study?
The Bobo Doll Experiment reveals how children imitate TV violence and the behavior of others.
Albert Bandura was the man who conducted the study of The Bobo Doll Experiment. He
studied children s behavior in the years of 1961 and 1963. He decided to watch the children s
behaviors after he watched an adult act hostile towards a Bobo doll. A Bobo doll is a toy that gets
up by itself after it is knocked down.
Why did Bandura Study this?
Bandura and his colleagues, the scientists of the Bobo Doll Experiment, believed there was some
reason children learned the behaviors that was important to them in their lives. Bandura anticipated
that children that viewed aggressive models would behave in a similar fashion as the model and
those that had non aggressive models would behave in the same fashion and not have aggressive
actions (Green, 1961). The purpose of this experiment was to demonstrate one of the ways children
learned aggression. The researchers were hoping to find the proof that children learned aggression
from viewing it by another person.
What did the Researchers do Who was Involved?
The researches of this experiment used a lab experiment. They gathered the participants that fit
their needs for the information needed for the experiment to get accurate results. The researchers
accumulated 36 boys and 36 girls, ages 37 to 69 months. There were also two adults involved,
male and female. Twenty four of the children had an aggressive male and female role model.

This paper outlines the argument of labour as a fictious commodity using Polanyi s work. This
paper first define what commodity is and what fictitious commodity is before going into deep
details of this topic. Conclusions have been drawn base on the main core of the topic and critiques
of fictitious commodity by Polanyi.
First, a commodity is a good or service that is actively produced for sale in a labour process. A

activity which goes with life itself, which in its turn is not produced for sale but for entirely
different reasons, nor can that activity be detached from the rest of life, be stored or mobilized
(Polanyi 2001, 75). Similarly, land is another name for nature, which is not produced by man ;
while money is merely a token of purchasing power which, as a rule, is not produced at all, but
comes into being through the mechanism of banking or state finance (Polanyi 2001, 75). To
include these fictitious commodities in the market mechanism means to subordinate the substance
of society itself to the laws of the market (Polanyi 2001, 75). For Polanyi (2001. 76), this would
inevitably result on the demolishing of society. The commodity description of labor is entirely
fictitious

The Influence Of Sleep On The Brain
Sleep is vital to give the cerebral cortex (the brain s thinking part) a rest. When we re in a deep
sleep, rapid eye movement (REM) occurs when your eyes move rapidly up for 30 minutes at a
time, it continues every 90 minutes. Most of our dreaming happens during REM and our eyes

Paul of Tarsus Essay
Paul of Tarsus
Contribution to the development and expression of Christianity
Paul of Tarsus (originally Saul of Tarsus) is widely considered to be central to the early
development and adoption of Christianity. Many Christians view him as an important interpreter of
the teachings of Jesus. Little is known of the birth and early childhood of Paul, then known as
Saul. It is known in the scriptures that he was born in the city of Tarsus (Acts 22:3) located in the
Roman province of Cilicia around the year 5 A.D. Saul left his home during his early adolescence
and was taken to Jerusalem for his formal education in the most prominent rabbinical schools of that
day. Young Saul had the privilege to be trained by Gamaliel, the most outstanding... Show more

On the road to Damascus the Lord intervenes in Saul s life (Acts 9: 3 6) and he is genuinely
converted during that encounter with the Lord Jesus. Under the ministry of Ananias (a disciple)
he was also healed and filled with the Holy Spirit. Saul now known as Paul from that moment on
immediately began preaching Christ in the synagogues of Damascus. Paul s preaching was very
convincing and disturbing to the Damascus Jews to the point where they desired to kill him.
Therefore, the other Christian disciples assisted him in his escape by night (Acts 9:22 25) that he
may escape to Arabia. Paul s missionary Journeys were defining actions of him, he usually set foot
with other companions and he endured hardships on these voyages. He was imprisoned, lashed and
stoned several times and almost murdered once (2 Cor. 11:24 27).
Paul s distinctive contribution to Christianity is his heresy the doctrine of salvation by faith. A
salvation available not just to the descendants of Abraham, but to the pagan, non Jewish world
as well. When he was writing to those in the Roman capital, Paul makes the declaration that
proved to be the cornerstone of all his writings Romans 1:16 17, For I am not ashamed of the
gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to
the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written,

Why I Want To Be An Audio Engineer
Tyshawn Brown
Ms. Milliner
EES21QH 01
9/30/16 Being an Audio Engineer is something that I want to partake as My Future Career. I
chose this career, because on a personal level, my interest for music is very deep to the point
that it literally runs through my veins. I was raised up in a music oriented family, where
everybody in my family is musically talented in some way. I wanted to have a career where I can
make my own music, and actually do something that I will enjoy. While doing a career interest
inventory, I was able to narrow down and plan ahead of what I want to do in the future, I chose
between a professional drummer and Audio Engineer, because I know that I will be able to flourish
in both fields. Meanwhile I chose Audio Engineering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to sokanu.com it states that After a degree is earned or while a sound engineer is
earning their degree, the first audio engineering job that most audio engineers have is that of an
assistand engineer. Being an assistant engineer is a great way to learn the trade, get used to a
new line of work, meet people, and make important networking connections. From these
statements a lot of the skills that come behind being an audio engineer, is being capable to be
social and being able to network and gain different connections. Which shows that the more
connections you have, the more opportunities that come your way. That s why I plan to major in
Audio Engineering when I get to college, so it can be even more opportunities for myself.
Another source from recordingconnection.com states that, The the best way to become an audio
engineer is to hang around a bona fide audio engineer...someone who makes their living as an
audio engineer. This statement is basically saying that you have to be around somebody who
knows the ropes, who is able to teach you the skill and knowledge you need to become a
successful audio engineer. According to my nextmove.org it states that basic skills you need to
become and Audio Engineer are listening to others, not interrupting, and asking good questions. As

I will stand as a candidate from my district number 16. Currently the senator of this district is
Senator Don Huffines. 1 Who has been a TexasSenate member since 2015 until today. Huffines is

who follows the ideas of Liberal Democrat and Next Generation Left.

On the basis of BallotPedia, In 2012, Huffines helped form a SuperPAC that supported Ron Paul
and spent more than $400,000 in the race and according to the campaign finance records, Huffines
raised a total of $2,439,572 in elections . He won with an outstanding number of votes. Similarly, I
will also have to spend and raise funds of a minimum three hundred thousand dollars. In order to get
such huge amount, I will need immense supports from the public and interest groups.
As previously stated, my party favors abortion and so there are few interest groups that will
support my stance like Planned Parenthood Texas Votes and few interest group like Texas Right to
Life Committee, who will oppose. In my district not everybody has their own vehicle and there are
not enough provisions for public transportation. Therefore, Texans Uniting for Reform and Freedom
interest group will help me build better transportation infrastructures in this area. Public health is
another important aspect. Since medical expenses are very high people often do not go for regular
checkups and ignore necessary health monitoring. There are lots of interest groups who will
support me regarding health issue such as; 4 Texas Hospital Association Political Action

The Effects Of Low Price Discounts On Purchase Propensity
Critical Review of:
Boomerang Effects of Low Price Discounts: How Low Price Discounts Affect Purchase Propensity
. (Cai, Bagchi, Gauri, 2016)
This article explores how the Boomerang effect , when applied to low priced discounts, can cause a
predisposition on purchase habits. The authors of this article, uses the Boomerang effect on two
different types of conditions (essential and nonessential purchases), that are primarily based on the
theory of purchase habits (Grewal, Monroe, Krishnan, 1998). This research argues that not all
products with low priced discounts receive the same purchase demand as an identical product with
no discounts applied to it. In addition, the authors also illustrate these effects through the use of ...

The data collected for this study can be considered highly reliable since the information came from
a current grocery market where there were no set variables to manipulate the overall results of the
data.
The second study seeks to analyse the basic boomerang effects by fashioning a scenario
(organising a party), for the total 114 participants. 52 of the participants were undergraduates
(61% being female), and 62 of the participant are MTurk panellist (38% being female) (Grewal,
Monroe, Krishnan, 1998). The partakers were given one small package of 5 plates ($2.50) and a
large package of 50 plates ($25). In this study the paper plates where supposed to be treated as a
nonessential purchase. Both packages where given a 10% discount rate, the small package of 5
plate costing $2.25 and large package of 50 plates costing $22.50. the participants where then
asked whether they would buy the dinner plates, how good the deal was, and how appealing the
price was. In a similar experiment conducted by (Darke Chung, 2005), a scenario was created for
the 82 random applicant. The aim for this experiment was to illustrate the importance of a discount
no matter the quality. On the other hand, the study produced by (Cai, Bagchi, Gauri, 2016)
concluded that smaller volume of low priced, none essential products has a lower purchase
likelihood.

The Media Of Indigenous Australians
Part A Media Analysis
There is a populace of 18 million in Australia with Indigenous Australians making up roughly one
percent of the Australian population. Due to this, the closest that a non Indigenous Australians will
come to have contact with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person is through representation
in the Australian media. Most media stories are viewed as one sided or racist with even the Prime
Minster Tony Abbott making comments that it is a lifestyle choice for the Indigenous peoplesto live
the way that they do in small communities consisting of up to 8 people. These statements that he
had made is seen as racist, leaving him open to criticism by members if his own party, friends and

This article gives the reader an inequitable view of Indigenous Australians, defending Tony Abbot s
point of view and the audience is encouraged to agree with mainstream media in regards to whether
or not Tony Abbott is racist. Article B from the Koori Mail condemns Tony Abbott s viewpoint as
not only racist but he is insulting the very culture that he is representing. Article B states that Tony
Abbott does not understand Indigenous culture and how important land is to them Connection to
country is everything to Aboriginal people defines Aboriginal people and sustains us in a cultural
and spiritual sense and can play a vital role in building economic independence, self determination
and healing (Greg Cromelin, Article B). With Article B the audience is encouraged to get angry at
Tony Abbott s comments and make him out to be racist.
Misrepresentation of Indigenous Australians in the media, as seen in the Courier Mail (Article A)
and the Koori Mail (Article B), shows a different side of Tony Abbott s comments. Each with their
own biases and by comparing the two articles it shows that good representations in the media still
have a long way to go.

Essay on MP3 File Sharing Hurts America
MP3 File Sharing Hurts America
Before the present time of computers and various media player technology, trading music files on
the internet was practically unheard of. Today MP3 music files have become file format that is
widely swapped over the internet. The problem with trading MP3 s is that it violates copyright laws.
However, this hasn t stopped the tens of millions of file sharing software users who continue swap
MP3 s. MP3 piracy is a costly business for many companies, and the disadvantages outweigh the
advantages of P2P file sharing. File sharing is a costly, illegal practice that hurts not only the
consumers, but the artists as well.
MP3 is a relatively new form of piracy, only being around for about ten years. ... Show more content

The Recording Industry Association of America has sued 1,445 people since September, with the
latest batch of 531 coming this month against people in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Atlanta,
Georgia, Orlando, Florida, and Trenton, New Jersey. Most of the earlier cases have been settled,
for an average of $3,000 each. According to Mitch Bainwol, the chairman and chief executive for
the RIAA, the record two million songs legally sold last week mostly on iTunes and Napster, prove
the lawsuits are educating users. He still believes that the faucet is still absolutely on; I just think
that the flow may have been slightly limited.
However, I d like to point out, that he cases that have been settled for $3,000 got a deal.
According to the RIAA website, online copyright infringement can be punished by up to three
years in prison and $250,000 in fines. Repeat offenders can be imprisoned up to 6 years. Individuals
also can be held liable for up to $150,000 per pirated song. To me, it seems that buying a CD for
fifteen or sixteen bucks isn t a bad deal at all, compared to the fines and hassle faced when (not if)
you get caught.
The effects of piracy are felt by everyone. There were 130,000 jobs lost due to piracy in the U.S.
alone in 1996 . Let s say that trend has held relatively steady over the past 8 years. That would
mean that over 1 million jobs have been

Texas Legislature Functions
The Texas Legislature is the most important representative institution in the state (TEXT 201).
The Texas legislature performs a great number of functions, but one of the main functions is
lawmaking. Hundreds of bills are drafted but it is not easy for that bill to become law. Roughly
every two years, the legislature gathers to carry out laws about issues of allocating resources,
benefits, costs, and the behavior of state residents. Policies and proposals for constitutional
amendments are looked at ranging from small local issues to statewide issues. The state
legislature also plays a significant role in state finances through its power to tax. It has the power
to decide if tax increases or decrease are necessary, budgeting for and financing

The German People did “Nazi” Hitler Coming
In 1932, Germany was in turmoil. Mass inflation had caused the prices of all commodities to
rise, while the German people lived paycheck to paycheck. This type of socio economic climate
is notorious for breeding radical political ideologies. Ever since Germany lost the Great War (now
called World War I) in 1918, the Germans had been required to pay reparations to the countries they
had fought. While the US and UK prospered during the 1920s, Germanysuffered. In order to pay
off its debts, Germany raised taxes on the people and this caused businesses to increase their prices
without raising employee salaries. The stock market crash of 1929 only made the situation worse
for Germany, as the US and Britain stopped paying loans to Germany. All... Show more content on

If the German people had been more conscientious about electing a hatemonger, the Holocaust may
have been prevented. Robert H. Jackson, an American prosecutor at the Nuremburg Trials, stated
that of 9,600,000 Jews who lived in Nazi dominated Europe, sixty percent are authoritatively
estimated to have perished. 5,700,000 Jews are missing from the countries in which they
formerly lived, and over 4,500,000 cannot be accounted for by the normal death rate.
(Goldensohn) Additionally, when Hitler was elected chancellor in 1932, Germany was a
democracy with many of the same civil liberties enjoyed in America. Slowly over the next several
years, those liberties were stripped from the people. The Nazi regime outlawed freedom of speech,
freedom of the press, and dissent. They took control of all forms of communication in Germany:
newspapers, magazines, books, public meetings, and rallies, art, music, movies, and radio.
(USHMM) While criticism of the Weimar Republicunder President Hindenburg was common,
once Hitler came to power, people might be sent to a concentration camp for speaking out against
Hitler. This shouldn t have surprised the people of Germany. Before Hitler was elected to office,
he was a very vocal critic of freedom of speech and democracy. It is unfortunate that the German
people were not more careful when it came to

The Threat Of The Islamic State
In recent years, ISIS has been breaking out everywhere instilling fear into people all around the
world. In recent events, they attacked Brussels, Istanbul and Paris killing a large amount of
people. The major thing that we have to remember is to not fear the Islamic State. They only
way we can defeat them is if we show no fear of them. Is it said to believe that many people like
the Iraqi government s discriminatory policies against Sunnis, Bashar al Assad s suppression of
secular Syrian protesters, President Bush s invasion of Iraqand the US War on Terror, President
Obama s lack of leadership and the early US withdrawal from Iraq, the Iran Arab rivalry in the
region, and even the Israeli Palestinian conflict are the reason that the Islamic State has risen
against the rest of the world. All of the groups listed above could be the cause of all this, but
researchers have not effectively found the main cause for all of this. In the next pages of this
research, I m going to look further into the cause of ISIS, researching different contributing
factors and actors involved in all of this. The Islamic State is a growing problem for everyone all
around the world. This terrorist group has been growing as the years go on. The U.S. Code of
Federal Regulations defines terrorismas the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or
property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in

Due to Lennie s childlike mind set and George s fatherly role in Lennie s life the dream becomes
somewhat a bedtime story for Lennie. On several occasions Lennie pleads Come on George.
Tell me. Please, George. Like you did before. which further emphasises how much of a child he
is due to the fact it makes him calm, happy and almost settled as if he were an infant going to
bed. It could also portray the subconscious worries Lennie has so he feels the need to be
reassured about their dream. Lennie s relationships with other characters vary and progress
throughout the novella. When Slim, the jerkline skinner, is first introduced to Lennie and
George he is taken aback by the oddness of their relationship with each other. He immediately
see s Lennie s lack of mentality and later on states to George it seems kinda funny, a cuckoo like
him and a smart guy like you travelling together which is the first opinion Slim reveals towards
Lennie. At first he only sees the childlike Lennie but after the situation explained he understands
and views Lennie in a completely different light. He s a nice fella, guy don t need no sense to be
a nice fella is a line which Steinbeck wrote to show clearly how Slim respects and likes Lennie as it
emphasises that he doesn t just see the absence of intelligence but the nice guy hidden underneath
the childish exterior. Even though Slim doesn t

In the end, Moore asks a lot of questions about the nature of American society, and while he doesn t always give us answers, he does conclude that the United States is a nation that is filled with both too many guns and way too much fear (Weschler, 2003). In the Bowling for Columbine documentary has been partly dramatized in regard to some of the events in order to cause an effect to the viewer and some have even gone as far as reshooting the same scene or having various angles of the same scene/event just to make it visually pleasing to the audience in which the point of the documentary is deliberately, seriously, and consistently deceptive. • 4. Queen of Knives It Might Have Gone Something Like This In Queen of Knives , Neil Gaiman exemplifies how unreliable our narrator is in dealing with death and derangement. Through this naГЇve narration, we are presented with a story in which the narrator; a young boy at that time, recalls how a magician vanishes his grandmother during a magic show. Upon closer analysis we will see that Gaiman actually implies that the grandmother has died causing the grandfather to go crazy from the death of his wife. In order for our narrator to cope with traumatic experience of losing a loved one and witnessing his grandfather lose his mind he blends the story with memories. The poem is set up as a flashback which further gives credibility to our narrator s erroneous... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the story begins a quote looms above the passage reading The reappearance of the lady is a matter of individual taste (Gaiman 122). This should be an initial signal to readers that a woman disappears. What we believe to be the initial act of the show is in fact the entrance of funeral. Gaiman uses subtle imagery to hint at what is really happening. Early on in the poem we see a line where the boy recalls a gray walk with his grandmother along a promenade. Then during the show thunder rolls this is to create a melancholy mood and represent Pearl s sadness along with depression at the funeral. We are told that the people there are all elderly friends and family attending the ceremony. The boy references looking at a dancer and seeing flowers appear. Perhaps what actually happened is that a lady came in to the viewing and brought customary flowers for the deceased. When the magician, symbolically representing God, appears on stage with a box that strikingly resembles a coffin both in size and color he points to the boy s grandmother. In italics the grandfather tells Pearl to go on up with the man (Gaiman 124). This is a clear hint that he has is dealing with the death of his wife. • 5. How Did Gandhi Influence British Imperialism Throughout modern history, Britain s exponential growth inevitably affected the future of many nations in the contemporary world in particular, the culturally intertwined state of India. Even in the initial stages of colonisation, India was forcefully occupied by the British East India Company; however, it was not until 1858 that a dictatorship was officially announced and the nation was forced to regard England as the true homeland . Amidst societal unease and a growing discontent with the British rulers by the poor peasants, India s emancipation seemed inevitable in order for the nation to truly progress. In effect, a revolutionary leader spawned; Mohandas Gandhi. His great philosophical mind held innovative ideas which were instrumental in the achievement of Indian Independence with his thoughtful ideologies and beliefs paving the way for oppressed Indians to ultimately unite against British imperialism. Consequently, this resulted in the monumental Satyagraha campaign that triumphed successfully against the British authorities. In spite of fierce British opposition to India s pleas for self governance, Gandhi continually pressed for a peaceful response to the dire situation; effectively promoting... I begin here to let the reader know I do not intend on conforming to the regular hypothesis in the case of Paul Ludwig Hans Anton von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg, more commonly known as Paul von Hindenburg. This general hypothesis on his character may paint him as a villain in the eyes of history, however, I will argue here that he was forced into a situation of unfortunate circumstances. His case consists of many political and military ups and downs and he is most famously known for appointing Adolf Hitlerto the position of chancellor and therefore plunging the Nazi party into power. This one choice by Hindenburg was the first domino to fall in the sequence of events leading to the second world war and ultimately for the death of 50... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this essay I will argue for neither option provided by the prompt as I feel the options provided are not mutually exclusive. I will be arguing that this political leader both shaped democracy as Germany knew it and that his actions were constrained by the pre existing circumstances. I will argue that the existing political climate in which Hindenburg was elected to was already on the way to radicalism. Furthermore, I will also use historical evidence to help prove that his decisions did help to shape modern Germany. Each choice a leader makes has the potential to shape a world for years to come. Throughout history we see time and time again one pivotal choice that had a butterfly effect and created a massive change in the way history occurred. I am arguing that Paul von Hindenburg s decision to promote Hitler to this position of power, even if reluctantly, was one that has had a major impact on history as we now know ... • 8. Religious Conflict Of Dante s Inferno Jessica Gay World Literature Dr. Schott 9 November 2014 Religious Conflict in Dante s Inferno Critics Daniel Tompsett and Donald Winchester and literary scholar Nicole Rudick have argued that Dante s Inferno is a dark and hopeless telling of how we are all relegated to sin and lack the will or righteousness to turn from sin and temptation. Tompsett and Winchester state that, The placement of living figures in each section was a judgment and a condemnation, albeit subjective, on both history and the people he knew (Tompsett). They both agree that Dante is painting a picture of the dredges of society and the torture that they must endure as a result of their inability to turn from sin. They also quote scholar David H. Higgins to say that Dante arguably believed he was writing a gospel to convert his recalcitrant age (Tompsett). Scholar and critic Nicole Rudick confirms this portrayal of dismal hopelessness with her comment, Dante created a rigid view of good and evil, showing no mercy for those who did not repent during their lifetimes and sparing no one in his accounting of misdeeds, vice, immorality, and generally inappropriate comportment (Rudick 29). It is my opinion that the aforementioned scholars and critics are missing Dante s point. When I read the poem I am overcome with quite the opposite view. I believe that a better way to interpret Dante s poem is to consider that he was asking each of us to reflect on our waywardness and sin and to come to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Banana- Musa Paradisiaca Banana (Musa paradisiaca) How it can be grown at home: Basically, from personal experience, Bananas are one of the easiest plants to grow. Most of the homes in Brunei have Banana plants grown in their backyard. They can grow even without any proper care for example like my banana trees in my home which grew by themselves. However since they are not being properly taken care of, they rarely bare fruits. Bananas can be grown like any other plant. They require good soil, sunlight and nutrients. However Banana plants also need special care in order to grow healthy. Avoid using infected suckers to grow new banana trees. Feed the plants with plenty of fertilizers every month as they are nutritious plants. They will require sufficient fertilizers to produce all the nutrients. They are usually propagated vegetatively by division. Their suckers or pups that rise from the base of the main stem or from underground corm are removed and plant them to make new banana trees. Another propagation method is by tissue culture where the plantlets are produced in a laboratory. This is the best method and cost effective to produce good quality bananas. Pineapple (Ananas Comosus) Basically to grow a pineapple, you first have to pull the crown from the fruit. Choose a fresh healthy pineapple to grow healthy pineapple plant. But sometimes you can use its sucker to grow new plants. After that the crown has to be soaked in the water and expose to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. The Prevalence Of Pressure Ulcers The prevalence of pressure ulcers in elderly patients is of an epidemic proportion (Bansal, Scott, Stewart, Cockerell, 2005). The annual cost of treating pressure ulcers in the United States (U.S.) is estimated at more than $20 billion and is increasing (Jones, 2013). Pressure ulcers occur when an injury is caused to the skin and underlying tissue at the pressure points resulting in transient or permanent damage to the underlying tissue (Margolis, 1995). The prevalence is seen in patients who are immobile because of chronic health conditions or lying on hard surfaces for prolonged periods (Pham et al., 2011). A pressure ulcer can be disruptive and disabling to frail elderly patients (Landi, Onder, Russo Bernabei, 2007). A pressure ulcer can also result in complications, which can lead to mortality (Nigel Chow, 2002; Gary, Berlowitz Paul, 2001). Development of pressure ulcers is no longer limited to acute or sub acute facilities alone. As the population is aging, more elderly are receiving heath care in their homes (Ablaza Fisher, 1998). As a result, all stages of pressure ulcers are also seen in the homes (Park Lee Caffrey, 2009). However, there are limited studies that show the magnitude of the problem when compared to acute, sub acute, and nursing homes (Asimus Li, 2011). This project will conduct a retrospective chart review at a community based primary care provider to determine the prevalence of pressure ulcers among elderly individuals who are ... • 21. Inner Evil in Lord of the Flies by William Golding Essay Inner Evil Throughout the novel Lord Of The Flies, the boys on the island are continuously faced with numerous fears. Subsequently there is nothing on the island which they fear more than the beast. The beast is not a tangible object that can be killed or destroyed by conventional means, but an idea symbolizing the primal savage instincts within all people. Its Golding s intention to illustrate the innate evil inside man through his view of human nature, the actions of the Jack and his tribe, and the relationship between the beast and the school boys. Golding wanted to reveal to the reader his point of view and theory of human nature. He wanted to make it clear that each member of humankind has a dark side, which is portrayed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their desire to please the beast leads them into golding s theory of inner evil, shown by the gruesome slaughtering of the pigs and the Lord of the Flies itself, a gift to the supernatural creature. The Lord of the Flies is a direct translation to Beelzebub, which is name given to the devil in the bible. From this we can take Golding s perspective and motives not to express the relationship between the Pig s head and the boys but human nature and evil. Soon the hunters lose sight of their school boy origins and their compassion, seeking only to hunt pigs and increase the tribe members or kill anyone standing in their way. This is a direct outcome from the beast who leads the boys into savagery and violence further developing their own inner beast. The relationship between the beast and the school boys is played out through the conversation between Simon and the Lord of the Flies. The Lord of the Flies or pig head tries to intimidate and forewarn Simon calling him, just an ignorant, silly little boy (184) and scoffs at Simon for thinking the beast is something you could hunt or kill! (184) Golding uses this symbolic beast, the Lord of the Flies, to reveal the truth to Simon which is that they (184) the boys on the island are the real beast. Ponyboy accepts being a greaser and it affects him positively. Some people might stereotype Ponyboy as a hero and not a greaser. Ponyboy is a greaser, this is because he fits the characteristics of a greaser. For example, all the greasers have long greasy hair, pony has that. Besides I look better with long greasy hair. (2). Debeers s Diamond Dilemm A Case Study DeBeers s Diamond Dilemma: A Case Study Introduction The DeBeers s group of companies is a leading diamond exploration, mining, retail and trading company that was founded in 1888. The organization has its headquarters in Luxembourg and has mining agreements in close to 30 countries inclusive of the world s leading diamond producers such as South Africa, Botswana, Canada and Namibia (Cadieux, 2005). The company enjoys one of the leading market shares in the natural diamond industry with a current share of around 40%. However, this is a noted decline from past decades where it controlled up to 80% of the world s diamond supply by the 1990s. The decline noted in its apparent monopoly was caused by a number of factors including the rise of new suppliers outside of its control. Additionally, negative press threatened its reputation as it was accused of unfair monopolistic and anti competitive practices, price fixing and even dabbling in the supply and distribution of the controversial blood diamonds. A more significant threat for the company has been the rise of the synthetic diamond market where essentially real diamonds are manufactured within plants and don t have to undergo millions of years of formation underground in addition to grueling extraction processes. These diamonds possess a lot of quality while being sold at a fraction of the prices of natural diamonds and have seen a rise in demand and in the total diamond market share. B.Research and Trends (please use more than one source when answering this question) In 2006, CNSTAT(The Committee on National Statistics) asked the USDA to clarify and make a clear distinction between hunger and food insecurity. • 41. The, Loss Suffered By Holden Acts As A Contributing Factor... Similarly, loss suffered by Holden acts as a contributing factor to his inner turmoil and mental illness. Holden s younger brother Allie passed away in 1946, and has haunted Holden ever since. He states: He s dead now. He got Leukaemia and died. The bluntness with which Holden reveals his death is representative of the effective use of simple language on the part of Salinger. Complex vocabulary is not used because it is not needed the incident stands out more against a plainer backdrop. The fact that Allie died of Leukaemia also makes the event more devastating. He died extremely prematurely and Holden s downfall suggests that his death impacted him in a huge way. Holden was intensely fond of his brother and refers to him throughout the entirety of the novel. He comments: You would have liked him when personally addressing the reader. We therefore feel involved in his story and emotion is evoked when we hear of his passing. It also acts as an explanation for Holden s difficulties. He struggles immensely throughout adolescence as he fails to accept the transition from childhood to adulthood, perhaps because he described Allie as mature for his age. This could perhaps be why Holden has such negative associations with growing older: all he sees ahead is death. Therefore, loss endured by both Holden and Esther leads to their eventual depressionand isolation from society. Furthermore, depression and isolation of characters also stems from failure in the academic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The experiment was to overall find results to the question, do children act aggressively if they grow up watching aggressive behavior? The conductor gathered participants for the study and got results showing that yes, children do tend to act more aggressive when they grow up around adults acting in an aggressive behavior. Bandura believed that children get their behaviors by the behaviors they watch, and after he performed his study, his results were believed to be supportive of his hypothesis. What is this Study? The Bobo Doll Experiment reveals how children imitate TV violence and the behavior of others. Albert Bandura was the man who conducted the study of The Bobo Doll Experiment. He studied children s behavior in the years of 1961 and 1963. He decided to watch the children s behaviors after he watched an adult act hostile towards a Bobo doll. A Bobo doll is a toy that gets up by itself after it is knocked down. Why did Bandura Study this? Bandura and his colleagues, the scientists of the Bobo Doll Experiment, believed there was some reason children learned the behaviors that was important to them in their lives. Bandura anticipated that children that viewed aggressive models would behave in a similar fashion as the model and those that had non aggressive models would behave in the same fashion and not have aggressive actions (Green, 1961). The purpose of this experiment was to demonstrate one of the ways children learned aggression. The researchers were hoping to find the proof that children learned aggression from viewing it by another person. What did the Researchers do Who was Involved? The researches of this experiment used a lab experiment. They gathered the participants that fit their needs for the information needed for the experiment to get accurate results. The researchers accumulated 36 boys and 36 girls, ages 37 to 69 months. There were also two adults involved, male and female. Twenty four of the children had an aggressive male and female role model. This paper outlines the argument of labour as a fictious commodity using Polanyi s work. This paper first define what commodity is and what fictitious commodity is before going into deep details of this topic. Conclusions have been drawn base on the main core of the topic and critiques of fictitious commodity by Polanyi. First, a commodity is a good or service that is actively produced for sale in a labour process. A commodity can result from peasant, petty commodity, state production, cooperative production, or social enterprise as well as capitalist production what matters is its production for sale (Polanyi 2001, 71). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Polanyi nonetheless highlights that while labour, land, and money are essential to the market economy; the fact is that they are not commodities, in the sense that they are not objects produced for sale on the market. As Polanyi points out, labour is another name for a human activity which goes with life itself, which in its turn is not produced for sale but for entirely different reasons, nor can that activity be detached from the rest of life, be stored or mobilized (Polanyi 2001, 75). Similarly, land is another name for nature, which is not produced by man ; while money is merely a token of purchasing power which, as a rule, is not produced at all, but comes into being through the mechanism of banking or state finance (Polanyi 2001, 75). To include these fictitious commodities in the market mechanism means to subordinate the substance of society itself to the laws of the market (Polanyi 2001, 75). For Polanyi (2001. 76), this would inevitably result on the demolishing of society. The commodity description of labor is entirely fictitious Polanyi s critique goes to the core of neoclassical economics and its claims about equilibrium prices and self regulation. Saul now known as Paul from that moment on immediately began preaching Christ in the synagogues of Damascus. Paul s preaching was very convincing and disturbing to the Damascus Jews to the point where they desired to kill him. Therefore, the other Christian disciples assisted him in his escape by night (Acts 9:22 25) that he may escape to Arabia.
