Valley Of Kings Short Story
Journey to find King Tut s tomb On a hot sunny day in Egypt. Clarice was searching for king tuts
tomb . She had already known that she was far from where his tomb lay buried . Clarice was already
getting prepared to go away to go on a search . First , she began asking random people if they knew
where he had died or where he was buried . They all responded with a flat out No . This irritated
Clarice because how would she ever find where to search first . So , she began thinking . Well a lot of
kings have been found in the valley , now called Valley of kings . So maybe I shall go and find out.
Valley of Kings is hard to find , it looks like a normal valley. The only way you know if it s Valley of
Kings is because of the slight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Outsiders In The Outsiders And Struggle Street
An outsider is a person or people who do not fit in society in due to their appearance and/or behaviour.
Through the use of literary and film techniques, both S.E Hinton s novel The Outsiders and David
Galloway s documentary Struggle Street portray a community of marginalised people with sensitive
people. These techniques inspire empathy from the audience, encouraging the audience to view
outsiders in a different perspective. In Struggle Street and The Outsiders, both texts create a common
theme individuality amongst a gang of outsiders through the use of techniques. One of the techniques
used by Hinton to portray characters as an outsider is the use of colour. Colour is used to target the
audience s understanding of the symbolic use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both Galloway and Hinton focus on the individuality of their characters. Allusion is another technique
used by Hinton to represent the unique inner worlds of characters who are ostracised by society. As
Johnny and Ponyboy stay in the church, Ponyboy introduces the novel Gone With the Wind (GWTW)
to Johnny. Through the intertextual reference of GWTW, Hinton allow the audience to apply their
connotations of the novel to a new context. Although the genre of GWTW juxtaposes with The
Outsiders, Hinton connects both text due to the fact that the stereotype of the tuff Greasers (p.15)
contrasted with Johnny s unique perception of the world since he was able to understand the meaning
of GWTW better than Ponyboy. The revelation of Johnny s character shocks Ponyboy as he stated, It
amazed me (Ponyboy) how Johnny could get more meaning out if stuff in there than I could I was
supposed to be the deep one. (p. 92). In the same manner, Galloway uses different camera shots to
represent different outcasts. Similar to the Greaser s stereotype, Mount Druitt s citizens have been
stereotyped as a nest of dole bludgers and layabouts . This statement was reinforced when the camera
was at establishing shot as it shows the amount of houses that have been destroyed by young adults.
However, the director also showed that regardless of the negative stigma, Mount Druitt will

How Did The Civil War Affect The Union
In the year of 1864, President Lincoln was re elected but had some struggles along the way. The Civil
War dramatically affected the Union as it was split among the decision of slavery. Lincoln s
Emancipation Proclamation (1862), which transformed the wars purpose from the preservation of our
nation into a battle for the abolition of slavery. Many Northerners did not like the idea of banishing
slavery because the initial concept of the war was whether or not the president would be able to defeat
the Confederacy of the South. The Northerners did not care about defending human rights. Lincoln s
progress with the war in his previous term helped him gain back power as president.

The essay How My Illiterate Grandmother Raised an Educated Black Man was written by Terrell
Jermaine Starr. After four years of journalism experience, Terrell is now the associate editor for an
online journal called NewsOne. He has a bachelor s degree in English and two master degrees. He
says that he owes all of his success to his grandmother; without her constant encouragement, he would
never have become the accomplished journalist he is today. Terrell and his illiterate grandmother lived
in a rough neighborhood on the west side of Detroit. His grandmother always encouraged him to
pursue an education and constantly told him that there were no limits. Ever since he was three years
old she placed books in his hands, although neither one could read or write at the time. When he

made it possible for him to earn three college degrees. Because of her constant motivating phrase,
There is always a way to do what you want to do, he is a successful man today. Terrell has done an
exceptional job in writing this ode in honor of his grandmother. His grandmother was perseverant in

shelters. First you should know that no kill shelters don t actually mean no kill, it means that only up
to 10% of the animals in their stock can be killed anything over that and it is a kill shelter. Many
people argue over if no kill shelters are better than kill shelters and vice versa but I have read many
articles about this topic and I can give you the worldwide opinion. NO KILL SHELTERS No kill
shelters don t accept all animals and are somewhat picky on what kind of pets they pick up. These pets
go into the shelter and will most likely not get killed by humans, and later on it might have people

Female Athletes And Gender Roles
There are so many issues when it comes to gender roles, gender norms, and gender identities. Many
men and women in today s society freely choose the way they want to present themselves to society;
which is either masculine or feminine. A lot of these characteristics are accepted, and a lot are not
accepted in society today. There are many social stigmas that come along with being a female athlete;
meaning there is major social criticism with how they choose to present themselves to society. Gender
is a symbol for a strong system of norms that analyzes and leads the behavior of men and women
(Schur 1984; Blinde and Taube 1992). So why are female athletes portrayed in such a polarized
fashion? Female athletes are strong, powerful, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m also going to discuss societies views of why and how female athletes portray themselves and why
it s not acceptable. Gender Polarization Gender polarization is an idea that discusses how American
society describes the difference between femininity and masculinity. According to Krane (2004),
female athletes are expected to fulfill certain hegemonic femininity while refraining from any
masculine ways. Common behaviors construct and reinforce gendered practices as well as differential
distribution of privilege, power, and resources. Behaviors that are acceptable for men are, and should
not be seen as suitable behaviors for women. In western culture, it is stressed that a womanly body
figure and behavior contradicts with a body and behavior of an athlete (Krane et al. 2004). The theory
of gender polarization extends from explaining the difference between sex and gender. Sex is what
you are born as (i.e. man or woman). Gender is how one chooses to present themselves society.
Women in today s society hold up to certain qualities that they should maintain. Sometimes it s hard
for a female athlete to convey these qualities because of how they carry themselves. Carty (2005) says
that images perceived to be more of a traditional feminine role (i.e. sensual, dependency, value the
importance of family and relationships, etc.) are downplayed. That way the female athletes can

Franklin D. Roosevelt Chapter Summary
The authors of this chapter mostly described Franklin D. Roosevelt in a positive light and as a hero for
ending the Great Depression. Before Franklin D. Roosevelt was president, he was the assistant
secretary of the navy during the World War I. He was paralyzed in both legs from a condition called
poliomyelitis. The authors thought that Roosevelt s disability profoundly shaped his unique
personality also. However, they noted that before his disability he was somewhat arrogant and
overbearing. His painful experience made him understand the disabled and disadvantages better. It
made him much more determined to succeed instead of feeling sorry for himself. He was elected
president during the worst depression in American history. There was a

Every company has an accounting cycle. An Accounting cycle is the process that begins with

the accounting cycles there are ten steps that are included. They are as follow; transactions are

Journalized and Posting Adjusting Entries Then, adjusting entries are journalized and posted to the
ledger. At the end of the accounting period the adjusting entries appearing in the work sheet are
recorded in the journal and posted to the ledger; bringing the ledger into agreement with the data
reported on the profit and loss account and balance sheet. The adjusting entries are dated as on the last
day of the accounting period, even though they are usually recorded some time later Preparing an
Adjusting Trial Balance The next step involves an adjusting trial balance being prepared. The adjusted
trial balance is prepared to verify the equality of the total of the debit and credit balances. This is the
last step before preparing the financial statements. If the adjusted trial balance does not balance, an
error had occurred and must be found and corrected. Preparing the Financial Statements The financial
statements are then prepared. The financial statement is the most important outcome of the account
cycle. In this process the income statement is prepared first, followed by the statement of owner s
equity, and then the balance sheet. The statement can be prepared directly from the adjusted trial
balance, the end of period spreadsheet, or the ledger. The net income or net loss shown on the income
statement is reported on the statement of

Three Activities in Human Resource Management
Three Activities in Human Resource Management
Introduction
With the process of globalization and internationalization, multinational firms develop rapidly. What
is the multinational firm? It should be called multinational corporation (MNCs) which is more
academic. An MNC is a company physically active in more than one country, like McDonald, Nestle,
Ford etc.
General speaking, Human Resource Management plays an essential role for an enterprise, especially
for a multinational enterprise. What is Human Resource Management? Noe et al. (2006: 5) defined
HRM that HRM refers to the policies, practices and systems that influence employee behavior,
attitudes and performance in order to support business goals and objectives while Dowling ... Show

Therefore, in general, the majority of employees are HCNs while the senior managers are PCNs and
TCNs in the earlier operation of a subsidiary. In the process of local development of subsidiaries, the
system of operation become mature and HCNs become more familiar for companies policies,
methods, technology and management etc. so it is necessary and brilliant to expand the space of
promotions for HCNs in the late operation. That is to say, increasing the proportion of HCNs in the
senior managers in the late operation can bring lots of benefits for company. For example, it will cut
down the cost efficiently and motivate the local staff to work harder significantly.
The second HR activity is about compensation and benefits. Firstly, this HR activity for multinational
firms involves different currencies and stability of currencies. With the fluctuation of exchange rates, a
foreign currency may appreciate or depreciate, which bring more risk for multinational firms. Also,
with the diversity of nations and cultures, the institution of compensation may vary from parent
company to subsidiary. For example, different countries have different price levels, which lead to
different wage levels. Lastly, according to three categories of employees, the compensation and
benefits are different. Compensation is a key factor to increase satisfaction of staff and job
performance. The main problem about compensation and

How Does One Create an Ecosystem and How Are Countries...
an ecosystem is a thriving of biotic and abiotic features in a region that interact with each other. or
simply, an ecosystem is where animals and plants live in harmony with their surroundings. for a while
now there have been issues with the care given to ecosystems and the ways in which countries deal
with threats to them. we hear about the extinction of many a kind of fauna and flora and how their
absence disorientates the equilibrium in many ecosystems and at the same time we also know about
people and organizations that strive to help build and maintain them. in the following we shall look at
how one can juggle focusing on the building of an ecosystem and sustaining the local population, how
nations worldwide are contributing to the welfare of forests and the ways in which induviguals can
give to the growth of an ecosystem. Global Perspective: apart from maintaining order, settling
conflicts and providing its people with resources a government must see to it that its local ecosystem
is maintained. this comes with its own set of benifits as tourism expands, the variaty of resources

Fred Roman, an auditor at one of the largest accounting firms at the time of the interview. At the firm
the hierarchy runs from Staff Assistant, Senior, Manager and Partner with Partner s being the owners
of the firm (264). For clarification Mr. Roman was a Staff Assistant 5, an assistant in his fifth year
when the interview was conducted. So in the grand scheme he was still at the bottom of the pole when
looking at the company. Roman exemplifies this when he discusses that when the numbers don t
calculate right during an audit it is considered a gray area, because it is rarely a simple decision, but
rather a tough one left up to the partner, because they get the last say in what to tell the customer.
Whilst this may all seem ordinary it becomes complicated when you delve into how the partner makes
their decision on what they decide to do about inconsistencies or worrying numbers. Roman clues us
in by explaining if we slight the company if I find something that s going to take away five hundred
thousand dollars of income this year they may not hire us back next year (264). This is where Studs
truly outlines the similarity between Roman and Robinson s job. These two jobs are intended to be for
the good of society and to keep patrons in check. However, ironically it is what is in the best interest
of authoritarian in each situation. What will keep their agenda on plan without causing any stir? That

Scientific Revolution Influence
Beginning in Europe during mid sixteenth century and lasting until mid eighteenth century, this period
of time saw advancements in mathematics, physics, astronomy, biology, and chemistry which would
lead into modern science. These advancements, however, challenged the doctrine of the Catholic
Church and other previous beliefs. Scientific thinkers such as Copernicus, Newton, and Descartes
helped impact Europe through challenging long held religious beliefs, changing philosophical beliefs,
and introducing new technology. Before the Scientific Revolution, popular beliefs concerning the
world and its functions all led back to the Holy Roman Catholic Church. Perhaps one of the most
known beliefs of the Church was its geocentric theory, where the Earth was the center of the universe
instead of the Sun. However this theory was refuted by men such as Copernicus and Galileo. In 1543,
Copernicus wrote On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres, where he discredited the Catholic
Church s long held belief. He had argued that the Sun was in the center of our solar system instead of
the Earth, giving way to the heliocentric theory. Then in 1632, Galileo had published his book

Understand the Organisational Framework for Play
Emma Hawkins PW 3 11 Understand the organisational Framework for Play
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child.
Everyone in the U.K, including children and young people, have rights that are recognised and
protected. These rights are granted by legislation, for example, Human right legislation, The Children
Act, etc, which have evolved from a variety of sources. One of these sources is The United Nations
Convention on the Rights of the child. Before this was adopted any laws relating to the care and
protection of children and young people gave all rights to the child s parents to do as they felt fit.
The Convention on the Rights of the child is an international treaty which has been adopted by the
U.K. It was approved by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is vital to stay up to date with these.
Play organisations will have set policies and procedures that relate to and include the rights of the
children and young people in the setting. Recent changes in legislation mean that these policies and
procedures will need reviewing and more than likely updating regularly. By evaluating policies and
procedures you should be able to judge the impact they have on children s rights.
Current theories about inclusive play revolve around the idea that play is important for life and that all
play workers should be committed to creating play environments that are inclusive and that offer multi
sensory experiences for all children. Play environments should ensure children and young people can
become involved in imaginary play and can help develop motor activity. They should also allow
interaction in a safe environment. Play is seen as the language that can bring children of all different
abilities together. All children and young people have the same basic needs and go through the same
development stages, even though they may not all go through them at the same pace: some go through
some stages more quickly than most, while others may become static in their development for a while.
None of this should prevent access to any setting. Through play with other children they develop
social skills and learn about behaviour, communication and friendship. Play is the tool for practical
learning

How Media Organizations Produce Audiences And Markets
This segment will review variety of literature exploring on how and why media organizations produce
audiences and markets. The different types of audience theories there are will explore this, and how
the audience reacts within these theories. There are many various audience theories out there, however
six will be explored.
The word audience is so much part of our everyday talk that its complexity is often taken for granted.
(Ross Nightingale 2003)
Today, media is surrounding us, whether it is television, films, magazines, games, radio, music, the
news, and even billboards and posters, and we don t even acknowledge it, unless it hits us in the face.
Along with this media, comes different audience, and different reactions. The ... Show more content

Hall also suggested that the way an audience reacts, is dependant on their cultural backgrounds and
how they were brought up, for example, if the mass media s intended message is fruit is great, it all
depends if an individual has been brought up to dislike fruit, etc. the audience is also given more
credit, and it s understood that they mat react in different ways.
Reception theory is the social interaction aspect, and the Two Step Flow theory is also similar.
Formulated first in the The People s Choice, the hypothesis suggests that ideas often flow from radio
and print to the opinion leaders and from them to the less active sections of the population. (Lazarfield
and Katz, 1970)
Paul Felix Lazerfiled originally came up with this theory, and then later, Elihu Katz began working
with him. The two of them looked at during the presidential elections, how the votes make up the
audience s minds and wrote a book exploring the different factors of it. They speculated how the mass
media connects with people, however this communication is routed through opinion leaders. These
people are very media literate and they link their understanding to others. The mass media uses
comedians as the opinion leaders, as they take real life news, and analyse it in a comical way, and the
mass media probably entrust the comedians more, as they come across less bias and less of an
agender, and the public find the news sometimes so bias, it was almost comical. Two Step Flow theory

Vertical and Horizontal Integration of Health Systems in Various Regions
In the health care system, various integration strategies involve services to improve the delivery of
care. However, these services include a vertical and horizontal integrated health system that will help
organizations increase market share, become more diversified, and achieve cost advantages by using
existing operation to offer new products or services (Shi Singh, 2015).

What Is The Role Of States In The United States
The role of States Every state is a unique entity within the US; population demographic case mix,
socioeconomic status, geography and laws and guidelines differ across states. Some states perform
better than others in general and the opioid epidemic follows the same rule. But why? Researchers
focused on uncovering these opioid related inconsistencies; their findings indicate that multiple
factors, other than physicians as described so far, are explanatory for this variation. They found
statistically significant results explaining opioid prescriptions and deaths related to race, where non
Hispanic whites accounted for more opioids and overdose deaths; specific disease prevalence,
particularly diabetes and arthritis; geographical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only 29 states require physicians by law to consult a PDPM database before prescribing an opioid,
whereas some others do not.34, 35 Some states, like Kentucky and Florida, have posed s stricter than
recommended 3 days limit on opioid prescriptions.36 In 2017, all 50 states and the District of
Columbia passed legislation to improve naloxone access.37 Out of those, 40 states and the District of
Columbia passed the Good Samaritan Law that protects individuals from being arrested, charged
and/or prosecuted when they report overdosing.37 The first noticeable difference here is that 10 states
did not pass this law. The second is that when overviewing the general characteristics of this law, the
Good Samaritan Law differs across these 40 states as well. For example, Michigan provides immunity
from charges, arrest and prosecution if a person is seeking medical assistance;38 Alabama on the other
hand provides immunity only for prosecution.39 Finally, some researchers studied concluded that state
requirements for Continuous Medical Education training and specifically Controlled Substance
Continuous Medical Education training for physicians could improve knowledge and practice and
reduce opioid related morbidity and mortality.27,40 However, only a few

Pros And Cons Of Filibusters
On the other hand, there are a lot of cons to filibusters too. It is true that having the power to filibuster
helps ensure the voices of the minority but it can also mean that having the power to filibuster ensures
the tyranny of the minority. Because the size of the senate is not based on the size of the population of
each state, every state gets two senators. It is now possible according to Jean Edward Smith, for the
senators representing the 34 million people who live in the 21 least populous states a little more than
11 percent of the nation s population to nullify the wishes of the representatives of the remaining 88
percent of Americans. (Smith, 2009). This is completely the opposite of what the framers wanted, they
wanted the government to represent the people not a small portion of the people. This is very
dangerous because now if ever the more populous states wants to pass a bill on an issue regarding
their states population, the more sparse states ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

purpose of having the debate. The debate was intended to talk about controversial topics and negotiate

Act Of Thecla Essay
The Acts of Thecla describes Thecla s trials and journey as she becomes Christian; this was written by
the author as a way of emphasizing the importance of women s roles in Christianity. Compared to the
other women protagonists that were read about in class, Penthesileia and Judith, Thecla is passive for
a heroine. The author of The Acts of Thecla has a contrasting view of women in Christianity when
compared to other Christians in the first two centuries of the Common Era. Having a female
protagonist is important to The Acts of Thecla because the trials she faced were specific to her role as
a female. Thecla is sentenced to be burned at the stake after refusing to marry Thamyris. Refusing to
get to married to your betrothed was seen as breaking a contract. When Thecla is on the pyre being
prepared to burn she sees something. And looking over the crowd, she saw the Lord sitting in the form
of Paul and said, As if I were not able to bear up, Paul has come to look after me. And she looks

And when she had given this witness she headed off to Seleucia, and after enlightening many with the

have ended with Thecla getting married proving that women aren t strong enough to preach the word
of God. Instead it ends with her having reached the end of her life never breaking her celibacy and
preaching the word of God. This gives an insight into the author s mind and that they believed women
had a role as missionaries in Christianity. This view is different from the majority of Christians during

Annexation Of Hawaii Essay
Annexation of Hawaii
John L. Stevens came to the island of Oahu in September 1889, acting as the U.S. Minister to Hawaii.
While his mission in Hawaii was not clearly stated, his political actions on the islands clearly showed
that Stevens thought that the annexation of Hawaii was proper and inevitable.
Stevens held firm beliefs about the future of Hawaii in the hands of the United States. From the start
of his stay in Hawaii, Stevens made it clear whose side he was on in the political war. He would
openly criticize Hawaii s monarchy, and at times would refer to Queen Liliuokalani and her advisors
as incompetent (2). Stevens may have not held anything against the Queen herself or any of her

either before or after his departure for Hawaii regarding attempts at achieving annexation in the
Hawaiian Nation. (3) Stevens had many reasons of his own to support annexation. When he arrived in
the islands, he saw many great economic and military advantages to having Hawaii annexed as a state.
He realized that Hawaii in itself was a growing industry, soon to be had as a major sugar producer in
the world at the time. Plus, Hawaii offered a huge strategic position, lying in the middle of the vast
Pacific Ocean, which could serve as a docking point for many U.S. warships. Stevens himself felt that
he was doing good in helping an expanding America grow to even greater proportions by backing
annexation in the islands.
Though the final stages of annexation in Hawaii were violent to a certain extent, Stevens would have
proclaimed that since there was no heavy military action on either side of the dispute, which the
annexation of Hawaii came easily and without unnecessary action involved to obtain his goal. He
would have most likely agreed to the political schemes forced upon the monarchy by those in favor of
annexation were necessary and

The Remarkable British Empire
Over a number of centuries, The British Empire colonized or invaded all but 22 countries in the world.
This is an astonishing feat that would make ancient empire leaders such as Remesses II or Genghis
Khan bow down to the power of the British. Since the Middle Ages, The Royal Class in England
desired a wide variety of exotic spices. The merchants were under so much pressure to try to satisfy
the high demand, that they resorted to committing criminal acts such as piracy in order to fulfill the
demand of the royal class.
In order to truly understand the roots and culture of the British Empire one must imagine themselves
in 400 BC and as a member of one of the countless Celtic tribes that existed in Britain. The land
beneath your feet is some of the most diverse soil in all of Europe and the landscape is full of trees and
grassy plains. In the book British Food by Colin Spencer, Great Britain s very fertile and rich soil
allowed the possibility for grass to grow year round allowing livestock to graze green pastures, even in
the winter time. Great Britain s soil allowed grains such as barley, rye, and wheat to grow in
abundance. The Celts would use these grains to produce bread which became the staple of many
Celtic and then, Anglo Saxon diets (14).
The Celtic people were very fond of seasoning their foods with local ingredients such as onions,
garlic, shallots and parsley which grew plentifully in their fertile soil. The idea of seasoning meals

Childhood Is A Complex And Interesting Idea
Childhood is a complex and interesting idea to define. It can be viewed in a technical manner,
considering that childhood finishes at a certain age. Alternatively, childhood could be considered in
relation to experiences, expectations and societal views. There are many influences to consider when
defining childhood and what determines a person s idea about childhood. In this discussion paper I
will be exploring some key ideas of childhood and thinking about this in the context of child
development.
Childhood could be viewed as socially constructed, it is difficult to define as every child is diverse and
has different influences, such as time, space and countries.
What is a child?
There are many ways of defining what a child is and all individuals have a different perspective.
Oxford dictionaries define a child as a young human being below the age of puberty or below the legal
age of majority
Oxford Dictionaries (2014). This statement does not define a child, as all children experience puberty
at different ages. For example, a child may have reached puberty by 13 years old, but by law, they are
still a child, as they are not able to vote, drive, drink alcohol or have sexual intercourse. However,
some holiday companies define adults as 12 years and over, therefore they are classed as an adult
within this organisation, despite being under age to take part in numerous activities.

Compare And Contrast St. Thomas Aquinas
St. Thomas Aquinas was a philosopher that believed he was bounden to save people and not destroy
them. However, his father tried to persuade him to become a lawyer, which of course he didn t want to
be. St.Thomas Aquinas was one that believed in the Natural Law Theory. This helped him create the
eight essential features in what living things exhibit. St.Thomas is one that believes one s soul makes a
person. There are civil laws that help him explain what a natural law is. All of this leads back to the
main question which is, How do we determine if something is moral, right or just?
St. Thomas s starting point for ethics began with Aristotle. He attended Plato s Academy and
structured his ideology from him. Thomas admired Plato but preferred Aristotle s word. Even though
they didn t have his exact words they asserted his learnings from the books he wrote. The reason why
St. Thomas didn t follow Plato s words and ideas was because he found problems in Plato s
philosophy. He had a difficult time trying to prevail with this social contract theory. The social
contract theory exhibits only moral obligation, it is a signed/ unsigned contract that isn t written out
and physically signed however it is structured on the concept of what is expected for you to do. Plato
confides his thoughts to how human beings exist in society. St. Thomas is similar in indicating these
ideas, he wants to show how human beings exist based on their natural environment. This method is

Hydrogen Cars
Hydrogen Automobiles The effect of pollution that is emitted from vehicles is a serious concern in
today s society. The cause of this pollution is the toxic emissions from current vehicles. This toxic
emissions or pollution destroys the Earth s ozone layer or atmospheric gases Acknowledging these
facts, many are very concerned with the condition of the Earth s atmospheric gases in the future. In
just a very short time, scientists produced a new vehicle which only emits water out of its exhaust
rather than carbon monoxide and other toxic pollutants in modern day internal combustion engines.
The Hydrogen automobiles do not require gasoline or ethanol to function, but all they require in

Of coarse, as the name implies, this process involves the use of coal. One of the more popular methods
of attaining Hydrogen is electrolysis. This is process of which water is broken down into pure
hydrogen and pure oxygen. Elements other than hydrogen attained from the reaction are excess and
are emitted from the vehicle through the exhaust. This is why only water vapor is the only exhaustion
given off from hydrogen vehicles. Another commonly overlooked benefit of Hydrogen as a power
source is that it is a renewable energy source. Rather, it can be obtained from a renewable energy
sources with no increase in carbon dioxide emissions. Hydrogen acts like a carrier of energy rather
than a source of energy. It can be produced and consumed continuously. Using solar, electric, water,
wind and nuclear power to power electrolysis and other forms of attaining hydrogen. Although
Hydrogen may environmentally safe and renewable, Hydrogen as an energy source still has its
downfalls. Hydrogen has a low volumetric energy density
Traditional combustion engines can be converted to run on hydrogen. This involves the use of fuel
cells and electric motors instead of a traditional engine. Hydrogen reacts with oxygen inside fuel cells,
which makes electricity to power the motor. Fuel cells are very fragile and are very costly to produce.
Scientists are currently searching for more efficient and less costly methods of producing fuel cells.

Self Perceived Prototypicality In Self-Verification Of...
The Role of Self Perceived Prototypicality in Self Verification of Group Members In many of previous
theories and research, the concept of prototypicality has been highly relevant in examining the nature
of group membership and inter and intra group behaviours (Kleef et al., 2007; Steinel et al., 2010;
Ellemers Jetten, 2013). Based on self categorisation theory, prototypicality is defined as the position
within the group according to the degree to which one represents the group s most typical
characteristics (Oakes, 1996; Gómez, Jetten Swann, 2014). An individual is considered to be a core
member when they possess most of the defining features of the group, and a peripheral group member
when they display only some of the features. Numerous

Relationship Between Community And Community Development
The world is built by tens of thousands of communities and its participation is indispensable to the
world development. Community s development depends on the economic and progress of the world.
The subject of community is people. Therefore, the communities even the world cannot prosper
without the sustainable people. This article focuses on sustainable people, economy, education and
China s experience in community development and meanwhile explains the relationship between
community, community development(CD) and community economic development(CED).
Everyone in the world belongs to a group or an organization. People stay together to share time and all
other benefits, keep same thinking and values and live in their own place, that is how community
naturally created. Different individual ability, local culture and environment can lead to different
communities. For instance, community economy in east, middle, or west region of Canada has big
differences because they develop in different level. Some of the people in the community may be
wealthy and highly educated, while the others are living in high poverty and lower educated
communities.
According to Lotz and MacIntyre (2003), Common to all humans these days is a desire to exercise
some control over their own lives and those of their communities. Community development is about
showing how this can be done, and how personal and local development can be linked in mutually
beneficial ways. (p. 9) People always protect and

Classical Iconography Within The Commissions Of Lorenzo De...
The Important Incorporation of Classical Iconography Within the Commissions of Lorenzo de Medici
and Pope Julius II
Julius II and Lorenzo de Medici arguably had not so dissimilar goals in their patronage. Patronage was
a tool for exerting political power, exemplifying personal magnificence, and invoking a sense of civic
duty. These patrons attempted to display different pieces of these attributes in different ways.
Lorenzo de Medici, born into arguably the most prestigious family in Florence, grew up familiar with
the importance of the commissioning of artworks and public works projects. The commissioning of
these works allowed the banking family of the Medici s, who were not originally of noble lineage, to
display their magnificence in the public sphere. The commissioning also allowed them a participation
in the contribution expected by Florentines to the civil pride of the city itself. The Medici family had
to straddle a fine line in their patronage. Florence was a long standing republican society, and the
Medici s patronage had to equally reflect their civic and religious duties as well as their own personal
interests. Lorenzo began his political and artistic education early, understanding the importance and
fragility of his family s dynasty.
As a youth, Lorenzo served upon a number of artistic and civil committees informing his taste as a
patron. His servitude upon these councils allowed him also early direct influence within Florence that
he would continue.

Marijuana Controversy Summary
This article discusses the actual controversy of marijuana uses, for both recreational and medical
purposes. McCarthy emphasizes on the opinion of different optometrists, who are concern because
patients are being asking questions related to marijuana uses and glaucoma, whether it is beneficial or
not to treat such disease. However, the American Academy of Ophthalmology does not have a
scientific evidence of marijuana effectiveness to treat glaucoma. In the 1970s different studies were
conducted, showing that marijuana could lower intraocular pressure. Nonetheless, doctors do not back
these studies, because medicinal marijuana can also make a weak intraocular pressure, and even harm
the nerve. As a result, he states that marijuana is an ineffective ... Show more content on

Representatives Dana Rohrbacher, and Thomas Massie are among legislators who support a legislative
amendment to give states greater latitude concerning marijuana laws. They think of their amendment
as a reasonable one, because many doctors support the idea that medical marijuana needs to be
prescribed to alleviate the suffering of their patients. Representative Massie encourages his colleagues
to support the amendment. He highlights that research has shown very promising results with the use
of cannabis for epilepsy and some others neurological disorders. On the other hand, Representative
Frank Wolf disapproves with their opinion. Wolf is concerned that the public and policymakers do not
have an accurate understanding of the health and public safety impacts of widespread marijuana
availability. Providing different opinions given by the U.S House of Representative members bring
important points regarding to marijuana legalization, how can they make and pass it as a federal law if

Hunting In America

HUNTING IN AMERICA FUELING THE GREAT OUTDOORS Hunting is one of America s oldest
traditions since the first colonists landed in America access to land and game have only been restricted
when nescessary. As times have changed, more land bought, and made exclusively private a need
arose to help preserve wildlife resource for general public, through that need and the efforts of hunter
to preserve that access to everyone several legislative actions have been taken to generate money to
fund these efforts. On the national level the first legislation aimed towards collection of taxes from
hunting to fuel conservation and wild life management was the The Pittman Robertson Wildlife
Restoration Act of 1937. States have the most important stake in funding conservation and wildlife
management through the use of hunting license and game tags. The decline in interest of hunting is
also being felt throughout states as tax revenues from the sales of hunting licenses and game tags are

whole sale price of all pistols or revolvers and a 11% tax on the whole sale price of any other firearms

Dingell Johnson Sport Fish Restoration programs was put into place for the support of sport fishing.
Those taxes are collected and deposited into the wildlife restoration fund. According to a news release
by the US Fish Wildlife Service, 1.1 Billion dollars was collected through these excise taxs to be

Football And Soccer s Roles In Soccer And Football
A player carries the ball down the field, the crowd cheers with ebullience as the professional closes in
for the score. The player has one man to beat and makes a daring move. The crowd gasps and the air
escapes the stadium. With determination, the player scores and the crowd erupts with an explosion of
cheers and hoots and hollers! Now, did the competitor score a goal or a touchdown? Without proper
context, both choices could be correct. However, with proper context, the answer becomes rather
clear. Even though the soccer and football contain eleven players from each team on the playing field,
differences exist between each player s role and their positioning on the field of play. Eleven fútbol
players exist on the pitch from each squad. With eleven players on the soccer pitch from each team
and the constant movement, an individual player s role on the team might bewilder a spectator. When
it comes to formation, the field divides into three parts: defenders, midfielders, and attackers. The
defenders job can be simplified down to one task: do not let the opposition score. Also, some
defenders may play a more aggressive role and act as a midfielder. Midfielders generally position
themselves on the field between the defenders and forwards. Some midfielders play a disciplined
defensive role by breaking up attacks as defensive midfielders. Holding midfielders blur the barriers,
being more mobile and efficient in passing. The amount of midfielders on the field and their assigned

Courage Of Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela quotes Courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it . He, Malala
Yousafzai and Mother Jones worked tirelessly for their causes. Nelson Mandela fought to end
apartheid for his people. Malala Yousafzai was determined to stand up for girls educational rights. And
unfair child labor laws was what drove Mother Jones to fight so hard for child labor rights. These
activists, Malala Yousafzai, Mother Jones, and Nelson Mandela all fought for equal opportunity that
leads to happiness and success for everyone.
Nelson Mandela, as the committed president of South Africa, worked tirelessly to abolish apartheid,
thereby making South Africa a liberated country. Mandela was dedicated to the ideas he believed he
should defend, and overcame challenges such as a long prison term, Mandela was jailed for his
political activities, and after a widely publicized trial, was sentenced to life in prison...Over the years,
Mandela became the world s best known political prisoner, gaining international support for his fight
against apartheid. (Nelson Mandela introduction). Mandela has shown great courage and strength in
his fight. After being released from a 27 year prison term, he went on to gain the trust of his country
by becoming the first black South African president. Mandela took a stand against apartheid and was a
great leader because he believed that everyone should be free, It was during those long and lonely

How A Protein Is Made Up Of Amino Acids
A protein is made up of amino acids there are more than one hundred amino acids which occur
naturally but only twenty of them are used in the synthesis of proteins. (REFERENCE) Proteins are
not organic compounds because in addition to carbon and hydrogen, they also contain a variety of
compounds found in the variable region of their structure such as sulphur as well as oxygen and
nitrogen found in their constant region. (REFERENCE)

AminoAcidball.svg.png)
An amino acid is comprised of an amino group which is the N2H portion of the compound, a single
hydrogen atom bonded to the central carbon, a carboxyl group made up of a carbon atom which is
double bonded to an atom of oxygen, and a hydroxyl group which is singly bound to the carbon also.
Finally, also bound to the central carbon is a variable group indicated on Figure 1 with an R. This is
what determines which amino acid is formed. For example, Glycine s variable region includes a single
hydrogen atom whereas Serine s contains CH2 OH.
The primary structure of a protein is the sequence of amino acids. This creates a polypeptide chain
because each amino acid acts as a monomer so when they bind together they form a polymer. When
amino acids bond together, a peptide bond is formed. This occurs when there is a condensation
reaction and H2O is lost from the two amino acids and a bond forms between the carbon on one amino
acid and the

Persuasive Essay On Sexual Orientation
Love is a tricky topic. Many have been persecuted because of who they have loved. A common debate
in society is that sexual orientation is a choice. Nurture will say that the environment around a person
plays a role, and nature will say that sexual orientation has to do with science. The nurture argument is
a common viewpoint because many can never imagine liking the same sex, but then why is the nature
viewpoint scientifically backed up?
Before jumping into each argument, sexual orientation needs to be defined. Sexual orientation is about
who you re attracted to and want to have relationships with, according to Planned Parenthood
(Parenthood). Sexual orientation is not the same as gender identity. Sexual orientation has to do with
who a person is attracted to, and gender identity is about what gender a person identifies with. There
are many different labels that people put on people who have a different sexual orientation than what
is considered the common, which is a heterosexual relationship. The most common two are gays for
men who like men, and lesbians who are women that like women. There are also people who identify
as bisexual meaning they like both male and female. Another group that has a different sexual
orientation is people who are attracted to more than just the average male and female, they can be
attracted to basically anyone, which includes people who are transgender, genderqueer, or intersex.
They are named pansexual or queer. Lastly, there are people

Through the use of literary and film techniques, both S.E Hinton s novel The Outsiders and David Galloway s documentary Struggle Street portray a community of marginalised people with sensitive people. These techniques inspire empathy from the audience, encouraging the audience to view outsiders in a different perspective. In Struggle Street and The Outsiders, both texts create a common theme individuality amongst a gang of outsiders through the use of techniques. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both Galloway and Hinton focus on the individuality of their characters. Allusion is another technique used by Hinton to represent the unique inner worlds of characters who are ostracised by society. As Johnny and Ponyboy stay in the church, Ponyboy introduces the novel Gone With the Wind (GWTW) to Johnny. Through the intertextual reference of GWTW, Hinton allow the audience to apply their connotations of the novel to a new context. Although the genre of GWTW juxtaposes with The Outsiders, Hinton connects both text due to the fact that the stereotype of the tuff Greasers (p.15) contrasted with Johnny s unique perception of the world since he was able to understand the meaning of GWTW better than Ponyboy. The revelation of Johnny s character shocks Ponyboy as he stated, It amazed me (Ponyboy) how Johnny could get more meaning out if stuff in there than I could I was supposed to be the deep one. (p. 92). In the same manner, Galloway uses different camera shots to represent different outcasts. Similar to the Greaser s stereotype, Mount Druitt s citizens have been stereotyped as a nest of dole bludgers and layabouts . This statement was reinforced when the camera was at establishing shot as it shows the amount of houses that have been destroyed by young adults. • 10. Female Athletes And Gender Roles There are so many issues when it comes to gender roles, gender norms, and gender identities. Many men and women in today s society freely choose the way they want to present themselves to society; which is either masculine or feminine. A lot of these characteristics are accepted, and a lot are not accepted in society today. There are many social stigmas that come along with being a female athlete; meaning there is major social criticism with how they choose to present themselves to society. Gender is a symbol for a strong system of norms that analyzes and leads the behavior of men and women (Schur 1984; Blinde and Taube 1992). So why are female athletes portrayed in such a polarized fashion? Female athletes are strong, powerful, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I m also going to discuss societies views of why and how female athletes portray themselves and why it s not acceptable. Gender Polarization Gender polarization is an idea that discusses how American society describes the difference between femininity and masculinity. According to Krane (2004), female athletes are expected to fulfill certain hegemonic femininity while refraining from any masculine ways. Common behaviors construct and reinforce gendered practices as well as differential distribution of privilege, power, and resources. Behaviors that are acceptable for men are, and should not be seen as suitable behaviors for women. In western culture, it is stressed that a womanly body figure and behavior contradicts with a body and behavior of an athlete (Krane et al. 2004). The theory of gender polarization extends from explaining the difference between sex and gender. Sex is what you are born as (i.e. man or woman). Gender is how one chooses to present themselves society. Women in today s society hold up to certain qualities that they should maintain. Sometimes it s hard for a female athlete to convey these qualities because of how they carry themselves. Carty (2005) says that images perceived to be more of a traditional feminine role (i.e. sensual, dependency, value the importance of family and relationships, etc.) are downplayed. Firstly, this HR activity for multinational firms involves different currencies and stability of currencies. With the fluctuation of exchange rates, a foreign currency may appreciate or depreciate, which bring more risk for multinational firms. So in the grand scheme he was still at the bottom of the pole when looking at the company. Roman exemplifies this when he discusses that when the numbers don t calculate right during an audit it is considered a gray area, because it is rarely a simple decision, but rather a tough one left up to the partner, because they get the last say in what to tell the customer. Scientific Revolution Influence Beginning in Europe during mid sixteenth century and lasting until mid eighteenth century, this period of time saw advancements in mathematics, physics, astronomy, biology, and chemistry which would lead into modern science. These advancements, however, challenged the doctrine of the Catholic Church and other previous beliefs. Scientific thinkers such as Copernicus, Newton, and Descartes helped impact Europe through challenging long held religious beliefs, changing philosophical beliefs, and introducing new technology. Before the Scientific Revolution, popular beliefs concerning the world and its functions all led back to the Holy Roman Catholic Church. Perhaps one of the most known beliefs of the Church was its geocentric theory, where the Earth was the center of the universe instead of the Sun. However this theory was refuted by men such as Copernicus and Galileo. In 1543, Copernicus wrote On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres, where he discredited the Catholic Church s long held belief. Recent changes in legislation mean that these policies and procedures will need reviewing and more than likely updating regularly. Current theories about inclusive play revolve around the idea that play is important for life and that all play workers should be committed to creating play environments that are inclusive and that offer multi sensory experiences for all children. Play environments should ensure children and young people can become involved in imaginary play and can help develop motor activity. They should also allow interaction in a safe environment. Play is seen as the language that can bring children of all different abilities together. All children and young people have the same basic needs and go through the same development stages, even though they may not all go through them at the same pace: some go through some stages more quickly than most, while others may become static in their development for a while. The different types of audience theories there are will explore this, and how the audience reacts within these theories. There are many various audience theories out there, however six will be explored. The word audience is so much part of our everyday talk that its complexity is often taken for granted. (Ross Nightingale 2003) Today, media is surrounding us, whether it is television, films, magazines, games, radio, music, the news, and even billboards and posters, and we don t even acknowledge it, unless it hits us in the face. Hall also suggested that the way an audience reacts, is dependant on their cultural backgrounds and how they were brought up, for example, if the mass media s intended message is fruit is great, it all depends if an individual has been brought up to dislike fruit, etc. the audience is also given more credit, and it s understood that they mat react in different ways. Reception theory is the social interaction aspect, and the Two Step Flow theory is also similar. Formulated first in the The People s Choice, the hypothesis suggests that ideas often flow from radio and print to the opinion leaders and from them to the less active sections of the population. (Lazarfield and Katz, 1970) Paul Felix Lazerfiled originally came up with this theory, and then later, Elihu Katz began working with him. The two of them looked at during the presidential elections, how the votes make up the audience s minds and wrote a book exploring the different factors of it. They speculated how the mass media connects with people, however this communication is routed through opinion leaders. These people are very media literate and they link their understanding to others. The mass media uses comedians as the opinion leaders, as they take real life news, and analyse it in a comical way, and the mass media probably entrust the comedians more, as they come across less bias and less of an agender, and the public find the news sometimes so bias, it was almost comical. This is an astonishing feat that would make ancient empire leaders such as Remesses II or Genghis Khan bow down to the power of the British. Since the Middle Ages, The Royal Class in England desired a wide variety of exotic spices. The merchants were under so much pressure to try to satisfy the high demand, that they resorted to committing criminal acts such as piracy in order to fulfill the demand of the royal class. In this discussion paper I will be exploring some key ideas of childhood and thinking about this in the context of child development. Childhood could be viewed as socially constructed, it is difficult to define as every child is diverse and has different influences, such as time, space and countries. What is a child? There are many ways of defining what a child is and all individuals have a different perspective. Oxford dictionaries define a child as a young human being below the age of puberty or below the legal age of majority Oxford Dictionaries (2014). This statement does not define a child, as all children experience puberty at different ages. For example, a child may have reached puberty by 13 years old, but by law, they are still a child, as they are not able to vote, drive, drink alcohol or have sexual intercourse. This helped him create the eight essential features in what living things exhibit. St.Thomas is one that believes one s soul makes a person. There are civil laws that help him explain what a natural law is. All of this leads back to the main question which is, How do we determine if something is moral, right or just? St. Thomas s starting point for ethics began with Aristotle. He attended Plato s Academy and structured his ideology from him. Thomas admired Plato but preferred Aristotle s word. Even though they didn t have his exact words they asserted his learnings from the books he wrote. The reason why St. Thomas didn t follow Plato s words and ideas was because he found problems in Plato s philosophy. He had a difficult time trying to prevail with this social contract theory. The social contract theory exhibits only moral obligation, it is a signed/ unsigned contract that isn t written out and physically signed however it is structured on the concept of what is expected for you to do. Of coarse, as the name implies, this process involves the use of coal. One of the more popular methods of attaining Hydrogen is electrolysis. This is process of which water is broken down into pure hydrogen and pure oxygen. Elements other than hydrogen attained from the reaction are excess and are emitted from the vehicle through the exhaust. This is why only water vapor is the only exhaustion given off from hydrogen vehicles. Another commonly overlooked benefit of Hydrogen as a power source is that it is a renewable energy source. Rather, it can be obtained from a renewable energy sources with no increase in carbon dioxide emissions. Hydrogen acts like a carrier of energy rather than a source of energy. It can be produced and consumed continuously. Using solar, electric, water, wind and nuclear power to power electrolysis and other forms of attaining hydrogen. Although Hydrogen may environmentally safe and renewable, Hydrogen as an energy source still has its downfalls. Hydrogen has a low volumetric energy density Traditional combustion engines can be converted to run on hydrogen. This involves the use of fuel cells and electric motors instead of a traditional engine. Hydrogen reacts with oxygen inside fuel cells, which makes electricity to power the motor. Fuel cells are very fragile and are very costly to produce. Scientists are currently searching for more efficient and less costly methods of producing fuel cells. Scientists ... • 43. Self Perceived Prototypicality In Self-Verification Of... The Role of Self Perceived Prototypicality in Self Verification of Group Members In many of previous theories and research, the concept of prototypicality has been highly relevant in examining the nature of group membership and inter and intra group behaviours (Kleef et al., 2007; Steinel et al., 2010; Ellemers Jetten, 2013). Based on self categorisation theory, prototypicality is defined as the position within the group according to the degree to which one represents the group s most typical characteristics (Oakes, 1996; Gómez, Jetten Swann, 2014). An individual is considered to be a core member when they possess most of the defining features of the group, and a peripheral group member when they display only some of the features. Numerous ... This article focuses on sustainable people, economy, education and China s experience in community development and meanwhile explains the relationship between community, community development(CD) and community economic development(CED). Everyone in the world belongs to a group or an organization. People stay together to share time and all other benefits, keep same thinking and values and live in their own place, that is how community naturally created. Different individual ability, local culture and environment can lead to different communities. For instance, community economy in east, middle, or west region of Canada has big differences because they develop in different level. Some of the people in the community may be wealthy and highly educated, while the others are living in high poverty and lower educated communities. According to Lotz and MacIntyre (2003), Common to all humans these days is a desire to exercise some control over their own lives and those of their communities. • 45. Classical Iconography Within The Commissions Of Lorenzo De... The Important Incorporation of Classical Iconography Within the Commissions of Lorenzo de Medici and Pope Julius II Julius II and Lorenzo de Medici arguably had not so dissimilar goals in their patronage. Patronage was a tool for exerting political power, exemplifying personal magnificence, and invoking a sense of civic duty. These patrons attempted to display different pieces of these attributes in different ways. Lorenzo de Medici, born into arguably the most prestigious family in Florence, grew up familiar with the importance of the commissioning of artworks and public works projects. The commissioning of these works allowed the banking family of the Medici s, who were not originally of noble lineage, to display their magnificence in the public sphere. The commissioning also allowed them a participation in the contribution expected by Florentines to the civil pride of the city itself. The Medici family had to straddle a fine line in their patronage. Florence was a long standing republican society, and the Medici s patronage had to equally reflect their civic and religious duties as well as their own personal interests. Lorenzo began his political and artistic education early, understanding the importance and fragility of his family s dynasty. As a youth, Lorenzo served upon a number of artistic and civil committees informing his taste as a patron. His servitude upon these councils allowed him also early direct influence within Florence that he would continue. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

McCarthy emphasizes on the opinion of different optometrists, who are concern because patients are being asking questions related to marijuana uses and glaucoma, whether it is beneficial or not to treat such disease. However, the American Academy of Ophthalmology does not have a scientific evidence of marijuana effectiveness to treat glaucoma. In the 1970s different studies were conducted, showing that marijuana could lower intraocular pressure. Nonetheless, doctors do not back these studies, because medicinal marijuana can also make a weak intraocular pressure, and even harm the nerve. Hunting In America Christopher Everhart Professor Castel, Jennifer English 101 07/01/15 HUNTING IN AMERICA FUELING THE GREAT OUTDOORS Hunting is one of America s oldest traditions since the first colonists landed in America access to land and game have only been restricted when nescessary. As times have changed, more land bought, and made exclusively private a need arose to help preserve wildlife resource for general public, through that need and the efforts of hunter to preserve that access to everyone several legislative actions have been taken to generate money to fund these efforts. On the national level the first legislation aimed towards collection of taxes from hunting to fuel conservation and wild life management was the The Pittman Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act of 1937. • 48. Football And Soccer s Roles In Soccer And Football A player carries the ball down the field, the crowd cheers with ebullience as the professional closes in for the score. The player has one man to beat and makes a daring move. The crowd gasps and the air escapes the stadium. With determination, the player scores and the crowd erupts with an explosion of cheers and hoots and hollers! Now, did the competitor score a goal or a touchdown? Without proper context, both choices could be correct. However, with proper context, the answer becomes rather clear. Even though the soccer and football contain eleven players from each team on the playing field, differences exist between each player s role and their positioning on the field of play. Eleven fútbol players exist on the pitch from each squad. With eleven players on the soccer pitch from each team and the constant movement, an individual player s role on the team might bewilder a spectator. When it comes to formation, the field divides into three parts: defenders, midfielders, and attackers. The defenders job can be simplified down to one task: do not let the opposition score. Also, some defenders may play a more aggressive role and act as a midfielder. Midfielders generally position themselves on the field between the defenders and forwards. Some midfielders play a disciplined defensive role by breaking up attacks as defensive midfielders. Holding midfielders blur the barriers, being more mobile and efficient in passing. • 50. How A Protein Is Made Up Of Amino Acids A protein is made up of amino acids there are more than one hundred amino acids which occur naturally but only twenty of them are used in the synthesis of proteins. (REFERENCE) Proteins are not organic compounds because in addition to carbon and hydrogen, they also contain a variety of compounds found in the variable region of their structure such as sulphur as well as oxygen and nitrogen found in their constant region. (REFERENCE) (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/ce/AminoAcidball.svg/2000px AminoAcidball.svg.png) An amino acid is comprised of an amino group which is the N2H portion of the compound, a single hydrogen atom bonded to the central carbon, a carboxyl group made up of a carbon atom which is double bonded to an atom of oxygen, and a hydroxyl group which is singly bound to the carbon also. Finally, also bound to the central carbon is a variable group indicated on Figure 1 with an R. This is what determines which amino acid is formed. For example, Glycine s variable region includes a single hydrogen atom whereas Serine s contains CH2 OH. The primary structure of a protein is the sequence of amino acids. This creates a polypeptide chain because each amino acid acts as a monomer so when they bind together they form a polymer. When amino acids bond together, a peptide bond is formed. This occurs when there is a condensation reaction and H2O is lost from the two amino acids and a bond forms between the carbon on one amino acid and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Persuasive Essay On Sexual Orientation Love is a tricky topic. Many have been persecuted because of who they have loved. A common debate in society is that sexual orientation is a choice. Nurture will say that the environment around a person plays a role, and nature will say that sexual orientation has to do with science. The nurture argument is a common viewpoint because many can never imagine liking the same sex, but then why is the nature viewpoint scientifically backed up? Before jumping into each argument, sexual orientation needs to be defined. Sexual orientation is about who you re attracted to and want to have relationships with, according to Planned Parenthood (Parenthood). Sexual orientation is not the same as gender identity. Sexual orientation has to do with who a person is attracted to, and gender identity is about what gender a person identifies with. There are many different labels that people put on people who have a different sexual orientation than what is considered the common, which is a heterosexual relationship. The most common two are gays for men who like men, and lesbians who are women that like women. There are also people who identify as bisexual meaning they like both male and female. Another group that has a different sexual orientation is people who are attracted to more than just the average male and female, they can be attracted to basically anyone, which includes people who are transgender, genderqueer, or intersex. They are named pansexual or queer. Lastly, there are people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
