National Association For Gifted Students
The era of the 1950s and 1960s ushered in new priorities for the education of America s students as
well as the social, judicial, political and organizational structure of our nation s schools. Some of the
challenges that the educational system faced were facilitated by federal and state interventions.
Interventions such as The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) No Child Left Behind,
(NCLB) and Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) are just a few federal and state interventions that had
a tremendous impact on the way we educate and motivate children to learn.
Motivating gifted students can present a challenge for any teacher. Many children are coming to
school with very little enthusiasm to learn, especially the gifted child. Although ... Show more content

This initiative was implemented in all public schools. The purpose was to have all students reach a
proficient level on reading and math. NCLB forced schools to look at groups of students who were
over looked and close the achievement gaps. If schools wanted to make AYP (Annually Yearly
Progress) they needed to create interventions to assure that all students were meeting the mark. The
downside to this movement is that students were being pushed to meet the average standard and it left
students who needed the additional acceleration behind or it excluded the gifted

Why Is Curriculum Important
Exam #1
1. What is curriculum and why is it important?
Curriculum is a difficult topic to define. There are many variations of curriculum types and ways in
which it can be defined. Curriculum can be defined as a sequence of steps laid out in order to create a
plan for achieving goals, particularly in education. Saylor, Alexander, and Lewis define curriculum as
a plan for providing sets of learning opportunities for how individuals can become educated (Ornstein
Hunkins P. 8). Wiles and Bondi view curriculum as a development process where the philosophy
becomes identified, the students ability is assessed, methods for possible instruction are considered,
strategies are implemented, assessment devices are chosen, and this process is one that is continually
adjusted (Ornstein Hunkins P. 8).
Curriculum can also be defined as dealing with learner s experiences meaning that anything planned in
or out of school is part of the curriculum. This is the definition that humanistic curricularists follow
(Ornstein Hunkins P. 9). Individuals who discuss curriculum in theoretical terms as opposed to
practical terms tend define curriculum as a field of study. However, most U.S. school districts tend to
define curriculum in terms of subject matter. Subject matter and content can be discussed in terms of
the subject itself as well as the content regarding grade levels.
Curriculum is important to the health and development of schools and society (Ornstein Hunkins P. 1).
Curriculum is

Other potential opportunity regarding to the theme parks and build new attractions to them, is also
attract people by making more attractive packages including the tickets to the parks plus the hotel
rooms for the entire family. And by encouraging people to spend more days in the parks, we can make
packages with at least three or more nights. The facts showed that in 2000 average people spent three
days in the Walt Disney World theme park, mostly because in this location tourists had more like a
resort and more things to do, also a place to spend the night. During the same year the average people
used to spend just one day at Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland and at Disneyland Paris. So the strategy
used at that point was building more attractions, more parks close to theme parks. So parks plus hotel
packages would be great opportunity to encourage people to spend more days at parks and
consequently visiting more parks will increase in revenues and also increase the company s assets.
Other potential opportunity still following the same thinking about build more theme parks and
attractions, will be exploring more the international potential market by building theme parks in
countries with high flow of tourists, the suggestion in this case would be first make a

Flash Animation
2D animation vs Flash Animation
The progression of time brings newer innovation, technology, and modern technique that makes living
a lot easier. Since the 1930s , animation has progressed from standard pencil and paper. Now, we have
technological innovations such as Flash animation. Such innovations make the production of
animation simpler and more affordable for that of the common man. Although all other methods of
animation give an animator/individual results for less the time and money that it would take
Traditional animation. Although the expenses and the time consumption is demanding, I prefer

As soon as an animator completes their work, the animator submits their work to the test camera
department to see how well it is in motion. Did you also know that an in between that hardly flows in
the process of the test camera? When this incorrection is prominent, the entire frame is thrown away
and revise the entire frame. Unlike the methods of 2D animation, flash animation is less stunning.
Flash Animation is the predecessor of 2D
Animation; Flash Animation is quicker and inexpensive. Besides flash animation being quicker,
updated, and cheaper, the production of flash animation is often sloppy and inaccurate to what is being
shown on the screen. For example,
Teen Titans Go! , is a TV Program made from Flash Animation. Teen Titans Go! is a terrible show.
Besides its lack of continuity to the original show, Teen Titans,
The animation plays a key role why this show is terrible. The movement is robotic and cheap; the
character design for each character is bland. After receiving criticism based solely on the animation
practices of the show, the animators make a jab about their choppy animation. What is depicted in the
scene of the jab is the dislocation of body parts that float toward the other side of the screen, away
from that character s body.
Adding on, 2D animation is better than Flash Animation for its usage of materials. Materials play a
key role in art. Material can range mediums such as paint, pen, Technology, etc. 2D

Graph Investigation
What features of the graph would you need for the expected proportionality to be verified? In other
words, what should the graph look like to verify the inverse square law? (2 marks) The inverse square
law states, that the intensity of the luminosity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance
from the source. The graph would require features such as; evidence that the increase in distance away
from the source results in the reduction of light exposure as well as, the contrast between the
ascending distance and descending LUX, in which forms an X within the graph in order to verify the
proportionality expected. This can be seen on the graph, when the distance d from the source is
doubled, the same amount of light is distributed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The classroom, although the blinds were drawn, allowed a large amount of light in; from the cracks in
the blinds and the glare from the uncovered windows connecting to the hallway. This may have
affected our results as the beam of light being projected out of the light box may have lost its intensity;
also resulting in the light metre picking up the surrounding light as well as the dull light beam.
Ultimately, we may have collected inaccurate data due to the excess of light. The instrument used to
measure the apparent magnitude of the star (light box beam) in our practical, had no way of displaying
if it was perpendicular to the desk. We noticed whilst using the light metre, a slight tilt of the
instrument could increase or decrease the amount of light being detected, changing the figure
displayed on the screen. As the person responsible for holing the instrument, I found it rather
challenging to keep it at the same angle for every increment. The change of angle and light detected
could have interfered with our data

Supervisory Platform and Evaluation System
In any school, student learning is the ultimate goal and the focus of an effective learning community.
In today s society, the education system is called upon to teach all students at high levels. It has been
established through significant research that teachers have a high impact on student learning,
according to the RAND Corporation, research suggests that, among school related factors, teachers
matter most. When it comes to student performance on reading and math tests, a teacher is estimated
to have two to three times the impact of any other school factor, including services, facilities, and even
leadership. In order to ensure that students have the greatest chance for achievement, it is vital that
school communities know that they have high quality teachers in place. To accomplish this task,
systems have developed that integrate set measures aligning what teachers do and what happens as a
result. These may include evidence of student work and learning, as well as, evidence of teacher
practices derived from observations, reflection, recordings, artifacts, and various forms of feedback.
Educational experts such as Marzano, Danielson, Stronge and others have published examples of
evaluation models. While they vary in emphasis and design, they are similar in that they attempt to
provide a framework for measuring the impact of a teacher on a student s learning. Clearly, this is a
daunting and challenging task and there is a risk involved in attempting to make something

Business Logistics And Logistics Of Ups
Business logistics
Introduction
The firm that would be assessed throughout this paper when referring to the topic of business logistics
is UPS. It is a well known courier service which operates in almost every nation in the world. UPS is
known for its quality services such as speedy delivery, best maintenance of cargo, and the providence
of a wide variety of tools that helps the customers in various different prospects, such as tracking

that the explosion of nuclear reactor the tragedy is similar to the detonation of a thermal nuclear

Loyalty In Antigone By Sophocles
In Antigone, Sophocles introduces the struggle between loyalty to civil law versus familial loyalty and
divine law, which is a central conflict in the play. Antigone has a firm belief in upholding family
values and honoring the gods and deceased by burying her brother. In contrast, Creon wants to do
what is best for the city which is, in his opinion, forbidding the burial of Polynices. Both Antigone and
Creon believe that their point of view is more important, and neither is willing to change perspective,
causing the chain of destructive events in the plot. Loyalty causes the deadly dispute between
Antigone and Creon because of their conflicting perspectives about precedence. Antigone has the
strong belief that loyalty to the dead and to the gods has precedence over all other opinions,
specifically those of Creon. Antigone does not at all care that the one with all governing power has the
most disagreement with her decision to remain devoted to her family below. Since I must please those
below a longer time than the people here, for I shall lie there forever (Sophocles 16). She knows and
understands that time in the mortal world has a limit, however time in the underworld is eternal.
Pleasing Creon and his belief to only stay true to civil laws are of no concern to Antigone, for all she
wants is to please her family below and the gods above. An example of this is the burial of Polynices,
because while it is right in Antigone s eyes, Creon believes it is foolish and a sin

Yoder-Wiser In Nursing
1. Why are the study of ethics and legal issues relevant to nursing management?
The study of ethics and legal issues are relevant to nursing management because this profession is
about healthcare which we need to provide carefully and correctly to people. Yoder Wiser describes
ethics to be what one feels inclined to do based on one s conscience as opposed to what company
protocols and policies say one must do (Yoder Wiser, 2015). If we don t have a proper study of the
ethical and legal issues, it may lead to a critical problem that will affect not only the profession but the
healthcare industry as a whole. Studying ethics will allow nurses the knowledge and understanding on
how we can provide quality healthcare to our patients. In addition,

Descriptive Essay About Homeless People
Over 60 million tourists visit New York each year from all across the world. Last summer, my family
and I were lucky enough to be some of those tourists. The trip changed my view on a lot of different
things, ranging all the way from how people act on the Subways, to the diversity of the city itself. It
was such a unique learning experience for me, and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to travel
somewhere that was so drastically different from what I am used to.
In 2017, there were 62,351 homeless people living in New York. I had seen homeless people down by
the Subway tracks in different movies, but seeing it in person made me realize how real of a problem
it was. When we got off at our Subway station, there were homeless people sitting on the stairs,
between Subway tracks, on benches, and anywhere else they could find a spot. Some were covered in
newspapers with ratted blankets around them, some looked like they hadn t showered in weeks, and
others looked like they had never owned a toothbrush in their life. Most of them were asking for
change and shaking some coins in a cup at us as we walked by. We hadn t been off the Subway for
more than 10 minutes, and I had already seen at least three homeless people. Little did I know, that
was just the beginning.
As we walked up the stairs and out onto the streets of New York City, I was amazed by how many
homeless people I saw. Outside, some of them had dogs with them that looked almost as beat up as
they did. Most of them had signs in their laps that read things like HOMELESS NEED FOOD AND
MONEY or WILL WORK FOR MONEY. Later on in the day, we went to Shake Shack (a burger and
shake place) for lunch. When we sat down to eat, we saw that there was a homeless man walking
around to different tables asking people if they could give him some money. One guy told the man to
go get a job and do something with his life. The homeless man wasn t very happy with this response
and began marching around their table cursing at them. I realize that there could have been something
mentally wrong with this man, however, it made me realize how poorly some people treat the
homeless. A simple no or no thank you would have been a fine response, especially when you don t

The Most First Generation Filipino Americans
San Francisco today is not the same place it was hundreds of years ago. This is obvious in terms of the

cultures. Chances are, if you were to ask a student at Skyline College if their parents were born in the

colonial period began and immigration to the States was pushed in many different aspects of everyday
Filipino culture. Another reason for leaving the Philippines was due to the economic problems many
had in the Philippines. America was advertised as the Land of Paradise on posters all throughout the
Philippines, and many labor recruiters assured natives that money could be made quickly in the states.
The first batch of Filipino immigrants who ended up in San Francisco was relatively small and
consisted mostly of students. Travelling from the Philippines to the San Francisco was tough, as it was
expensive to pay for and was a long distance from home. The trip from the Philippines to San
Francisco took nearly a month by ship, meaning their stay would be long term. Those brave enough to
travel to America did so in hopes of living a more prosperous life than they did in the Philippines.
Of the immigrants that arrived in San Francisco, a good number of them ended up relocating to states
with more of a focus on agriculture, where they were responsible for taking care of the fields.
However, there were a number of those who preferred urban life that ended up staying in San
Francisco. For those that stayed in San Francisco, they were situated in apartments around and on
Kearny Street. Larger rooms were provided for those starting their families, and many Filipino owned

An Introduction to the Golden Parachute
When we talk about executive compensation, one topic that never fails to come up is the Golden
Parachute. The Golden Parachute, as the name suggest is an executive safety net of sorts that is
included in the employment contracts of senior level executives. Basically it is a special payment
usually a lump sum amounting to millions, that is paid in the event of a change in control of the

Alignment of Management Shareholder Interest
As mentioned at the beginning of this paper, one of the main objectives of the Golden Parachute is to
control the behaviour of management in a acquisition event. During a acquisition event, the bidding
company or the acquirer would often bypass the executives and the management and go straight to the
shareholders, offering a premium over the current trading share price, which can be seen as a increase
to shareholder wealth5. However, often times once the acquiring company gains control, the acquired
company s management is usually either sidelined or dismissed from the company. That being the
case, there inherently exist a conflict between the interest of the management (to preserve their source
of income) and the interest of shareholders (to maximise wealth).
Management as has been well established in the corporate world has the duty to act in a way that is in
the interest of the shareholders, and often this involves making decisions that maximise shareholder
wealth. However, in light of the prospect of losing their jobs after a acquisition, management might
not act in the best interest of the shareholders and oppose the acquisition in order to maintain

revolutionized the world of publishing (The Printing Press, 2005). Since then, hundreds of word
processing programs have been developed, along with thousands of new fonts, from Times New
Roman to Comic Sans. Marketing professionals and scientists around the world have wondered what
kinds of fonts stick in a person s memory over others (Dizikes, 2013). The concepts of how memory

psychology are essential to better understand this idea. The nervous system consists of three main

The short term memories are stored in the hippocampus, the long term are stored in the cerebral
cortex, and the flashbulb memories are stored in a special part of the cerebral cortex called the
amygdala (Young 2010; Hamzelou, 2011). Short term memory can hold seven items of information
for fifteen to twenty seconds. Information that was received verbally and information that was
received visually are kept in different places in short term memory. To make the most of the limits of
short term memory, the brain chunks two to three facts into one unit of information. Long term
memory, however, is stored by significance and meaning rather than the sequence in which they were
received. The two kinds of long term memory are implicit and explicit memories. Implicit memories
are unconsciously remembered, like how to open doors. Explicit memories are consciously
remembered. There are three types of explicit memory: episodic, semantic, and declarative.
Episodic memories are memories of events that took place, like a memory of attending a party.
Semantic memories are facts, figures, and general knowledge, like the capital of France. Declarative
memories are of people, places, and things, such as names and faces (Foster, 2011; Greenberg, 1987;

that enables a connection between the neurons is called a synapse. Short term memory has temporary

needs of miners for food, clothing, and supplies. Most miners probably wanted to find gold and get

Compare And Contrast Salem Witch Trials And Bacon s Rebellion
The Salem Witch Trials and Bacon s Rebellion both reflected economic class tension in their
respective colonies. The purpose of Bacon s rebellion was not to overthrow the social and political
order of Virginia, but rather secure economic opportunity. During the second half century, Virginia s
quality of life was improving; the maturation of apple orchards eliminated the consumption of dirty
water, ships were bringing in new servants at a healthy time of year, and indentured servants were
finally serving out their periods of indenture. Despite the improvement in quality of life, Virginia s
economy was on rocky ground for the poor. The government was being controlled by men using it to
gain wealth, leaving the colonist with low cost tobacco and high taxes. In addition to the economy
forcing ordinary planters and merchants to lower ranks of society, there was no good land in Virginia
for them to expand. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This left small farmers and merchants angry and poor. During this time Native Americans were
attacking the frontier settlements of the colony. Nathaniel Bacon used this as leverage and requested
that Governor Berkley issue retaliation on the Native Americans. Once Governor Berkley decided not
to act, the angry farmers and merchants began to complain that the high taxes were going to Berkley
rather than protecting the frontier from attacks. The rebels decided to take matters into their own
hands and declared war on all Native Americans. The economic class separation between the rich
government and poor farmers was so imbalanced that it created a rebellion. Bacon s Rebellion was
deemed successful by the rebels because Native Americans abandoned their land, government became
more responsive to the white farmers, and economic conditions

Panopticon Essay
The author of the essay Panopticism , Michel Foucault gives his opinion on power and discipline in
Panopticism. He describes Jeremy Bentham s Panopticon , a tower in the centre of a room which has
vision to every cell, generalized for prisoners. In simple words, it functioned in maintaining discipline
throughout the jail. It s most distinctive feature was that; prisoners could be seen without ever seeing.
Prisoners would never really know when they are watched and when not. They are always under the
impression that someone is keeping an eye on them continuously and if anything goes wrong, or they
make mistake, they would be punished severely. Since, a prisoner would never know when he/she is
watched, they have to be at their best. In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can relate this to myself. I go to Harbor Point Gym. It is fairly huge with ample of machines and
cardio equipments. There is another room for people who wants to practice yoga and meditate. While
working out at the gym, I am always guarded about myself being watched by other people, peers
passing by the gym, cameras at the gym etc. it s a human tendency and people really do look and
analyze people. There s always a thought running at the back of my mind what if other people saw me
or made fun of me. This thought makes me behave in a right, well mannered way. Nobody forced me
to behave in a certain way but it was that creepy thought of myself being mocked. I did not just
behaved well but also pushed myself a little extra. Also, there are treadmills kept closer to one another.
This in turn makes one conscious about their selves. This helps me relate to the idea of Foucault s
Panopticon where he describes Visibility as a trap (). What he means by this is, being visible at times
is also a trap. You can be caught anytime if you are doing something incorrect. In my example of a
treadmill, another person also using the treadmill watches you. You are constantly conscious and try to
look what the other person is up to and try to compete him/her. This generates a competitive spirit and
thus, people push themselves in order to prove their selves. It not only enhances your body but also
aids in developing self confidence.

The article I found this week was interesting. I never knew this until I was looking for an article.
There is a woman named, Shaesta Waiz, she is the first female certified pilot from Afghanistan.
According to one article in Flying Mag, she will be traveling through 20 countries to encourage girls
to achieve their dreams through education. She is part of an organization called Dreams Soar her
organization was founded to inspire women and girls to reach for the stars, according to Waiz. In the
article, Waiz talks about encouraging children to achieve their dreams through the STEM program,
which is in schools not only in the United States but also in countries like; Australia, France, and
China. (Encyclopedia Britannica). Waiz tells her story how she was born in a refugee camp in 1987 in
Afghanistan, and she and her family fled to the United States to escape the Soviet Afghan war. In this
article Waiz also states that she is the first member of her family to not only achieve a Bachelor s
degree but a Master s degree as well. Both degrees she received from Embry Riddle Aeronautical
University (ERAU) in Daytona Beach, Fla. While attending college at ERAU this is where her love
for flying came about, she even starts a women s mentor program to help women get into the aviation

Her goal is to have Dreams Soar partner with strong female role models at each of her stops and
together she wants to promote the importance of the STEM education program. I think that what Waiz
is doing is a great thing not only is she showing that no matter if you come from nothing you can still
succeed in your wildest dreams if you reach for the stars. Waiz has said many times how did she get so
lucky especially coming from the background she did, which was being born in a refugee camp and
living in an underprivileged school district in the states as

Examples Of Heroism In Beowulf
Heroism and Its Adaptation Over Time (Prompt #3)
Heroism is defined as great bravery, but there are many interpretations of what great bravery truly
signifies. Over time the image of heroism is altered to conform to cultural beliefs and morals. Often
times, heroes are written into poems, or stories to set an exceptionally high standard and become a role
model for people in their time period. In the famous epic, Beowulf, the ideal hero is portrayed as a
superior warrior who is able to overcome unthinkable means. This proposal of a warrior as a hero did
not last long in history, however. As times changed, people developed different values and beliefs that
transformed a hero from a warrior to a saint. In today s world, a hero is considered as ... Show more

As new religions develop and spread, people began to form a new idea of perfection. As the new
image of an ideal hero was formed, poems, books, and such were written to set example for how
people should act in their day and age. The reason that these heroes change over time more
specifically is due to their lifestyles. In ancient times, people required different traits to be successful.
Due to the warring lifestyle that was existent during the writing of texts such as Beowulf, heroes were
modeled to be great fighters. This is also consistent with other ancient heroes such as Achilles in
Greek Mythology; however, this changed over time as religions were established and people became
more civilized. Religion gave people a more positive outlook on life and ended much of the barbarian
lifestyle. The new idea of a hero developed into a righteous god fearing person; so, saints became the
newfound role models. Saints are still seen as heroes today, but much more sparsely. This can be
accredited to various events in history including the Renaissance and Protestant Reformation. With the
Renaissance came an increase in individualistic thinking, and so on the entire root of modern day
heroism. People of all types began highly regarding artists and philosophers, longing to be of their
caliber. With the colonization of the Americas also came a new type of hero. Adventurers such as
Christopher Columbus were praised received glory for their accomplishment. Jumping forward to
today, heroes are labeled daily for their acts of bravery and quick thinking abilities that save lives.
Everyday individuals such as pilot Chesley Sullenberger, the pilot that crash landed into the Hudson
River, are remembered as heroes for saving lives, as stated many times that He was hailed as a
national hero (Chesley). Not only is the word hero used in relation to real events, but fictional
characters are also dubbed as heroes in modern

Sophie Observation Paper
I was given the opportunity to visit Sophie at her school for a few hours. During that time i observed
Sophie writing on a white board. Not wanting to disturb Sophie i asked her paraprofessional why she
was not writing in a notebook like the rest of the kids in her class. She informed me that sophie prefers
to write on a lined whiteboard but they are working on getting her to write more on the notebook. I
speculate that the smooth surface of the whiteboard is easier for Sophie to work with, given that she
has had trouble with her gross motor skills throughout her young life. During story time i observed
sophie actively engaging in question and answer time. I noticed she payed close attention to her
teacher , and rarely was distributed. When

A Closer Look At Autonomous Vehicles Essay
A Closer Look at Autonomous Vehicles Many great technological feats have been accomplished in the
past few years, one of the most notable would be the creation of self driving cars. Along with the topic
of what can be done with this technology, there is also the topic of what should be done with the
technology from an ethical standpoint. Self driving cars while not perfected are worth their
innumerous benefits, despite the current limitations and drawbacks. Every year there are numerous
incidents where the driver is responsible for a crash or even death. A self driving car could be the very
solution necessary to solving the abundance of accidents that occur daily across the nation. There are
different levels of automation ranging on the amount of the drivers control of the vehicles. This
technology is already being implemented in creative and helpful ways, and has been successfully
tested. Self driving cars are something that s new, it s something that has only just been implemented
in the past few years, and will be continually implemented and improved upon. Currently autonomous
cars are limited to actions such as parallel parking, brake assist, and lane detection. In the near future
experts are predicting fully autonomous self driving cars with little to no human interaction. Currently
self driving vehicles are described from levels 0 4, 0 being no automated assistance, to level 4 where
the car can perform all safety‐critical driving functions and monitor roadway

George Orwell s 1984-Language Dominates Society
Language Dominates Society People take the idea of thought for granted. When a person thinks they
use language to create an idea in the mind. A human cannot talk to another human and convey that
thought if there is no language. If the government, an organization, or an individual takes control of
the language they could systematically degrade communication and control people s thoughts. They
could take out words, combine words or change the meaning of them which is what happened in 1984.
Several years ago when a person wanted to send a text message they had nine keys that represented
two or three letters. To type one word numerous clicks had to take place to achieve each letter. As
soon as people learned how to text they immediately shortened

The Intertropical Convergence Zone Plays a Large Role in...
The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is a permanent low pressure feature that lies on the
meteorological equator. It is characterisied by lots of cloud cover and precipitation (Andrews et al.,
2003). The ITCZ plays a significant role in the climate and weather events in the tropics. The clouds
created by the ITCZ also provide an important form of albedo in the tropics (Waliser and Gautier,
1993),which has an effect on global climate. Tropical events such as monsoon and cyclones occur in
the ITCZ and are products of the unique convection system found around the ITCZ (Yancheva et al.,
2007, Ferreira and Schubert, 1997).The ITCZ is a product of humid trade winds from the northern and
southern hemisphere converging and then rising. This rising of humid air usually results in
precipitation over the tropics(Waliser and Somerville, 1994). This rising of the humid air acts as the
driving force in the Hadley Cell (Waliser and Somerville, 1994). The ITCZ is a product of high levels
of solar radiation and high amounts of latent heat released from the ocean (Andrews et al., 2003). It is
important to realize that the ITCZ moves throughout the year depending on the seasons, it is likely to
be found in the southern hemisphere in the southern hemisphere summer and in the northern
hemisphere during the northern hemispheres summer. However the ITCZ is more likely to be found in
the Northern hemisphere (Waliser and Somerville, 1994). The ITCZ plays a large role in many of the
climatic

  • 2. National Association For Gifted Students The era of the 1950s and 1960s ushered in new priorities for the education of America s students as well as the social, judicial, political and organizational structure of our nation s schools. Some of the challenges that the educational system faced were facilitated by federal and state interventions. Interventions such as The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) No Child Left Behind, (NCLB) and Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) are just a few federal and state interventions that had a tremendous impact on the way we educate and motivate children to learn. Motivating gifted students can present a challenge for any teacher. Many children are coming to school with very little enthusiasm to learn, especially the gifted child. Although ... NCLB forced schools to look at groups of students who were over looked and close the achievement gaps. The downside to this movement is that students were being pushed to meet the average standard and it left students who needed the additional acceleration behind or it excluded the gifted ... • 3. Why Is Curriculum Important Exam #1 1. What is curriculum and why is it important? Curriculum is a difficult topic to define. There are many variations of curriculum types and ways in which it can be defined. Curriculum can be defined as a sequence of steps laid out in order to create a plan for achieving goals, particularly in education. Saylor, Alexander, and Lewis define curriculum as a plan for providing sets of learning opportunities for how individuals can become educated (Ornstein Hunkins P. 8). Wiles and Bondi view curriculum as a development process where the philosophy becomes identified, the students ability is assessed, methods for possible instruction are considered, strategies are implemented, assessment devices are chosen, and this process is one that is continually adjusted (Ornstein Hunkins P. 8). Curriculum can also be defined as dealing with learner s experiences meaning that anything planned in or out of school is part of the curriculum. This is the definition that humanistic curricularists follow (Ornstein Hunkins P. 9). Individuals who discuss curriculum in theoretical terms as opposed to practical terms tend define curriculum as a field of study. However, most U.S. school districts tend to define curriculum in terms of subject matter. Subject matter and content can be discussed in terms of the subject itself as well as the content regarding grade levels. Curriculum is important to the health and development of schools and society (Ornstein Hunkins P. 1). Curriculum is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Other potential opportunity regarding to the theme parks and build new attractions to them, is also attract people by making more attractive packages including the tickets to the parks plus the hotel rooms for the entire family. And by encouraging people to spend more days in the parks, we can make packages with at least three or more nights. The facts showed that in 2000 average people spent three days in the Walt Disney World theme park, mostly because in this location tourists had more like a resort and more things to do, also a place to spend the night. During the same year the average people used to spend just one day at Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland and at Disneyland Paris. So the strategy used at that point was building more attractions, more parks close to theme parks. So parks plus hotel packages would be great opportunity to encourage people to spend more days at parks and consequently visiting more parks will increase in revenues and also increase the company s assets. Other potential opportunity still following the same thinking about build more theme parks and attractions, will be exploring more the international potential market by building theme parks in countries with high flow of tourists, the suggestion in this case would be first make a ... Since the 1930s , animation has progressed from standard pencil and paper. Now, we have technological innovations such as Flash animation. Such innovations make the production of animation simpler and more affordable for that of the common man. Although all other methods of animation give an animator/individual results for less the time and money that it would take Traditional animation. Although the expenses and the time consumption is demanding, I prefer Traditional animation rather than other methods of animation. As soon as an animator completes their work, the animator submits their work to the test camera department to see how well it is in motion. Did you also know that an in between that hardly flows in the process of the test camera? When this incorrection is prominent, the entire frame is thrown away and revise the entire frame. Unlike the methods of 2D animation, flash animation is less stunning. Flash Animation is the predecessor of 2D Animation; Flash Animation is quicker and inexpensive. Besides flash animation being quicker, updated, and cheaper, the production of flash animation is often sloppy and inaccurate to what is being shown on the screen. For example, Teen Titans Go! , is a TV Program made from Flash Animation. Teen Titans Go! is a terrible show. Besides its lack of continuity to the original show, Teen Titans, The animation plays a key role why this show is terrible. The movement is robotic and cheap; the character design for each character is bland. After receiving criticism based solely on the animation practices of the show, the animators make a jab about their choppy animation. What is depicted in the scene of the jab is the dislocation of body parts that float toward the other side of the screen, away from that character s body. Adding on, 2D animation is better than Flash Animation for its usage of materials. Materials play a key role in art. Material can range mediums such as paint, pen, Technology, etc. 2D ... (2 marks) The inverse square law states, that the intensity of the luminosity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source. The graph would require features such as; evidence that the increase in distance away from the source results in the reduction of light exposure as well as, the contrast between the ascending distance and descending LUX, in which forms an X within the graph in order to verify the proportionality expected. Ultimately, we may have collected inaccurate data due to the excess of light. The instrument used to measure the apparent magnitude of the star (light box beam) in our practical, had no way of displaying if it was perpendicular to the desk. We noticed whilst using the light metre, a slight tilt of the instrument could increase or decrease the amount of light being detected, changing the figure displayed on the screen. • 7. Supervisory Platform and Evaluation System In any school, student learning is the ultimate goal and the focus of an effective learning community. In today s society, the education system is called upon to teach all students at high levels. It has been established through significant research that teachers have a high impact on student learning, according to the RAND Corporation, research suggests that, among school related factors, teachers matter most. When it comes to student performance on reading and math tests, a teacher is estimated to have two to three times the impact of any other school factor, including services, facilities, and even leadership. In order to ensure that students have the greatest chance for achievement, it is vital that school communities know that they have high quality teachers in place. To accomplish this task, systems have developed that integrate set measures aligning what teachers do and what happens as a result. These may include evidence of student work and learning, as well as, evidence of teacher practices derived from observations, reflection, recordings, artifacts, and various forms of feedback. Educational experts such as Marzano, Danielson, Stronge and others have published examples of evaluation models. While they vary in emphasis and design, they are similar in that they attempt to provide a framework for measuring the impact of a teacher on a student s learning. Clearly, this is a daunting and challenging task and there is a risk involved in attempting to make something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Loyalty In Antigone By Sophocles In Antigone, Sophocles introduces the struggle between loyalty to civil law versus familial loyalty and divine law, which is a central conflict in the play. Antigone has a firm belief in upholding family values and honoring the gods and deceased by burying her brother. In contrast, Creon wants to do what is best for the city which is, in his opinion, forbidding the burial of Polynices. Both Antigone and Creon believe that their point of view is more important, and neither is willing to change perspective, causing the chain of destructive events in the plot. Loyalty causes the deadly dispute between Antigone and Creon because of their conflicting perspectives about precedence. Antigone has the strong belief that loyalty to the dead and to the gods has precedence over all other opinions, specifically those of Creon. Antigone does not at all care that the one with all governing power has the most disagreement with her decision to remain devoted to her family below. Since I must please those below a longer time than the people here, for I shall lie there forever (Sophocles 16). She knows and understands that time in the mortal world has a limit, however time in the underworld is eternal. Pleasing Creon and his belief to only stay true to civil laws are of no concern to Antigone, for all she wants is to please her family below and the gods above. An example of this is the burial of Polynices, because while it is right in Antigone s eyes, Creon believes it is foolish and a sin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Descriptive Essay About Homeless People Over 60 million tourists visit New York each year from all across the world. Last summer, my family and I were lucky enough to be some of those tourists. The trip changed my view on a lot of different things, ranging all the way from how people act on the Subways, to the diversity of the city itself. It was such a unique learning experience for me, and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to travel somewhere that was so drastically different from what I am used to. In 2017, there were 62,351 homeless people living in New York. I had seen homeless people down by the Subway tracks in different movies, but seeing it in person made me realize how real of a problem it was. When we got off at our Subway station, there were homeless people sitting on the stairs, between Subway tracks, on benches, and anywhere else they could find a spot. Some were covered in newspapers with ratted blankets around them, some looked like they hadn t showered in weeks, and others looked like they had never owned a toothbrush in their life. Most of them were asking for change and shaking some coins in a cup at us as we walked by. We hadn t been off the Subway for more than 10 minutes, and I had already seen at least three homeless people. Little did I know, that was just the beginning. As we walked up the stairs and out onto the streets of New York City, I was amazed by how many homeless people I saw. Outside, some of them had dogs with them that looked almost as beat up as they did. Most of them had signs in their laps that read things like HOMELESS NEED FOOD AND MONEY or WILL WORK FOR MONEY. Later on in the day, we went to Shake Shack (a burger and shake place) for lunch. When we sat down to eat, we saw that there was a homeless man walking around to different tables asking people if they could give him some money. One guy told the man to go get a job and do something with his life. The homeless man wasn t very happy with this response and began marching around their table cursing at them. I realize that there could have been something mentally wrong with this man, however, it made me realize how poorly some people treat the homeless. The first batch of Filipino immigrants who ended up in San Francisco was relatively small and consisted mostly of students. The Golden Parachute, as the name suggest is an executive safety net of sorts that is included in the employment contracts of senior level executives. That could occur if a company chooses to adopt the Golden Parachute Alignment of Management Shareholder Interest As mentioned at the beginning of this paper, one of the main objectives of the Golden Parachute is to control the behaviour of management in a acquisition event. During a acquisition event, the bidding company or the acquirer would often bypass the executives and the management and go straight to the shareholders, offering a premium over the current trading share price, which can be seen as a increase to shareholder wealth5. However, often times once the acquiring company gains control, the acquired company s management is usually either sidelined or dismissed from the company. That being the case, there inherently exist a conflict between the interest of the management (to preserve their source of income) and the interest of shareholders (to maximise wealth). Management as has been well established in the corporate world has the duty to act in a way that is in the interest of the shareholders, and often this involves making decisions that maximise shareholder wealth. However, in light of the prospect of losing their jobs after a acquisition, management might not act in the best interest of the shareholders and oppose the acquisition in order to maintain ... • 18. The Printing Press by Johannes Gutenberg In the 1450s, a German goldsmith named Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press, which revolutionized the world of publishing (The Printing Press, 2005). Since then, hundreds of word processing programs have been developed, along with thousands of new fonts, from Times New Roman to Comic Sans. Marketing professionals and scientists around the world have wondered what kinds of fonts stick in a person s memory over others (Dizikes, 2013). The concepts of how memory functions, how the brain processes information and how font and memory are connected in psychology are essential to better understand this idea. The nervous system consists of three main sections, the central nervous system (CNS), the peripheral nervous system (PNS), and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The short term memories are stored in the hippocampus, the long term are stored in the cerebral cortex, and the flashbulb memories are stored in a special part of the cerebral cortex called the amygdala (Young 2010; Hamzelou, 2011). Short term memory can hold seven items of information for fifteen to twenty seconds. Information that was received verbally and information that was received visually are kept in different places in short term memory. To make the most of the limits of short term memory, the brain chunks two to three facts into one unit of information. Long term memory, however, is stored by significance and meaning rather than the sequence in which they were received. The two kinds of long term memory are implicit and explicit memories. Implicit memories are unconsciously remembered, like how to open doors. Explicit memories are consciously remembered. There are three types of explicit memory: episodic, semantic, and declarative. Episodic memories are memories of events that took place, like a memory of attending a party. Semantic memories are facts, figures, and general knowledge, like the capital of France. Declarative memories are of people, places, and things, such as names and faces (Foster, 2011; Greenberg, 1987; Fields, 2005). Both long term and short term memories travel between neurons, as does any memory. The structure that enables a connection between the neurons is called a synapse. Short term memory has temporary synapse strengthening and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though Pavlov used a dog in order to explain classical conditioning and example I am going to use is my dog when I open a can. UCS is also known as an unconditioned stimulus which is when my dog would smell the food. UCR which is known as the unconditioned response is when my dog knows he needs to eat because he needs to eat to live. CS is known as the conditioned stimulus is when my dog hears me open his can of dog food in order to put food in his bowl. This is sort of like the bell in Pavlov s study but the opening of the can. These were all concepts that were not seen in GP. Within ILA, our professor usually returned to the topic of religion, specifically death, when discussing another nation or culture. • 22. Compare And Contrast Salem Witch Trials And Bacon s Rebellion The Salem Witch Trials and Bacon s Rebellion both reflected economic class tension in their respective colonies. The purpose of Bacon s rebellion was not to overthrow the social and political order of Virginia, but rather secure economic opportunity. During the second half century, Virginia s quality of life was improving; the maturation of apple orchards eliminated the consumption of dirty water, ships were bringing in new servants at a healthy time of year, and indentured servants were finally serving out their periods of indenture. Despite the improvement in quality of life, Virginia s economy was on rocky ground for the poor. The government was being controlled by men using it to gain wealth, leaving the colonist with low cost tobacco and high taxes. In addition to the economy forcing ordinary planters and merchants to lower ranks of society, there was no good land in Virginia for them to expand. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rebels decided to take matters into their own hands and declared war on all Native Americans. He describes Jeremy Bentham s Panopticon , a tower in the centre of a room which has vision to every cell, generalized for prisoners. In simple words, it functioned in maintaining discipline throughout the jail. It s most distinctive feature was that; prisoners could be seen without ever seeing. Prisoners would never really know when they are watched and when not. They are always under the impression that someone is keeping an eye on them continuously and if anything goes wrong, or they make mistake, they would be punished severely. There s always a thought running at the back of my mind what if other people saw me or made fun of me. This thought makes me behave in a right, well mannered way. Nobody forced me to behave in a certain way but it was that creepy thought of myself being mocked. I did not just behaved well but also pushed myself a little extra. Also, there are treadmills kept closer to one another. This in turn makes one conscious about their selves. This helps me relate to the idea of Foucault s Panopticon where he describes Visibility as a trap (). What he means by this is, being visible at times is also a trap. You can be caught anytime if you are doing something incorrect. In my example of a treadmill, another person also using the treadmill watches you. You are constantly conscious and try to look what the other person is up to and try to compete him/her. This generates a competitive spirit and thus, people push themselves in order to prove their selves. It not only enhances your body but also aids in developing self confidence. ... • 26. Examples Of Heroism In Beowulf Heroism and Its Adaptation Over Time (Prompt #3) Heroism is defined as great bravery, but there are many interpretations of what great bravery truly signifies. Over time the image of heroism is altered to conform to cultural beliefs and morals. Often times, heroes are written into poems, or stories to set an exceptionally high standard and become a role model for people in their time period. In the famous epic, Beowulf, the ideal hero is portrayed as a superior warrior who is able to overcome unthinkable means. This proposal of a warrior as a hero did not last long in history, however. As times changed, people developed different values and beliefs that transformed a hero from a warrior to a saint. In today s world, a hero is considered as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As new religions develop and spread, people began to form a new idea of perfection. As the new image of an ideal hero was formed, poems, books, and such were written to set example for how people should act in their day and age. The reason that these heroes change over time more specifically is due to their lifestyles. In ancient times, people required different traits to be successful. Due to the warring lifestyle that was existent during the writing of texts such as Beowulf, heroes were modeled to be great fighters. This is also consistent with other ancient heroes such as Achilles in Greek Mythology; however, this changed over time as religions were established and people became more civilized. Religion gave people a more positive outlook on life and ended much of the barbarian lifestyle. The new idea of a hero developed into a righteous god fearing person; so, saints became the newfound role models. Saints are still seen as heroes today, but much more sparsely. This can be accredited to various events in history including the Renaissance and Protestant Reformation. With the Renaissance came an increase in individualistic thinking, and so on the entire root of modern day heroism. People of all types began highly regarding artists and philosophers, longing to be of their caliber. With the colonization of the Americas also came a new type of hero. Adventurers such as Christopher Columbus were praised received glory for their accomplishment. Jumping forward to today, heroes are labeled daily for their acts of bravery and quick thinking abilities that save lives. Everyday individuals such as pilot Chesley Sullenberger, the pilot that crash landed into the Hudson River, are remembered as heroes for saving lives, as stated many times that He was hailed as a national hero (Chesley). Along with the topic of what can be done with this technology, there is also the topic of what should be done with the technology from an ethical standpoint. Self driving cars while not perfected are worth their innumerous benefits, despite the current limitations and drawbacks. Every year there are numerous incidents where the driver is responsible for a crash or even death. A self driving car could be the very solution necessary to solving the abundance of accidents that occur daily across the nation. There are different levels of automation ranging on the amount of the drivers control of the vehicles. This technology is already being implemented in creative and helpful ways, and has been successfully tested. Self driving cars are something that s new, it s something that has only just been implemented in the past few years, and will be continually implemented and improved upon. Currently autonomous cars are limited to actions such as parallel parking, brake assist, and lane detection. In the near future experts are predicting fully autonomous self driving cars with little to no human interaction. • 31. The Intertropical Convergence Zone Plays a Large Role in... The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is a permanent low pressure feature that lies on the meteorological equator. It is characterisied by lots of cloud cover and precipitation (Andrews et al., 2003). The ITCZ plays a significant role in the climate and weather events in the tropics. The clouds created by the ITCZ also provide an important form of albedo in the tropics (Waliser and Gautier, 1993),which has an effect on global climate. Tropical events such as monsoon and cyclones occur in the ITCZ and are products of the unique convection system found around the ITCZ (Yancheva et al., 2007, Ferreira and Schubert, 1997).The ITCZ is a product of humid trade winds from the northern and southern hemisphere converging and then rising. This rising of humid air usually results in precipitation over the tropics(Waliser and Somerville, 1994). This rising of the humid air acts as the driving force in the Hadley Cell (Waliser and Somerville, 1994). The ITCZ is a product of high levels of solar radiation and high amounts of latent heat released from the ocean (Andrews et al., 2003). It is important to realize that the ITCZ moves throughout the year depending on the seasons, it is likely to be found in the southern hemisphere in the southern hemisphere summer and in the northern hemisphere during the northern hemispheres summer. However the ITCZ is more likely to be found in the Northern hemisphere (Waliser and Somerville, 1994). The ITCZ plays a large role in many of the climatic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
