Introduction
The advancement of technologies in business is changing the world of work.
Businesses find they must incorporate many of the new technological procedures,
processes, policies, hardware, and software into their environment to remain
competitive. The impact from these technological advances on how work is
performed affects the workforce far differently now than what has been seen over
the past 25 years. One of the greatest impacts has been on the workers themselves,
and the challenge of training and preparing to remain abreast in today s workforce is
tremendous. This challenge, which is facing today s workers, is something educators
cannot afford to ignore. Technology has created ... Show more content on

Emerging Information Technology Trends
Emerging Information Technology Trends : Traditionally, hotels were mostly
dependant on cards and paperwork at the front desk to keep in meet with old and
current customers. They were chiefly at the mercy of the wishes of vacationers to
succeed, and on their own pains and force to be inclined for budding surges or long
droughts of tenancy. Luckily, such inconvenience and old fashioned methods are
long since ancient, gratitude to advances in information technology. The first
question in which information technology became important regarded billing. Old
fashioned paper based book keeping time consuming and inefficient, and was not
able briefly to tell a lodge holder what the avow of their lodge was. Luckily,
advances in modern proof keeping tolerate for a lodge holder to keep pathway of
what they have on hand, how much of it they have, and how much it outlay.
Accounting is complicated, but future accounting software, especially that tailored to
the sole needs of the hospitality activity, helps to permit lodge owners to make smart
decisions. Services and harvest that are no longer worn can be instantly cut off to
preclude money, while those who show want can be augmented in magnitude or
bespoke to diminish the important tradition. Most hotels are recurring with booking
quarters and reservations over
Is Cloud Computing An Attractive Option For Modern...
Modern cloud computing is a delivery system for computing services either for
free, or on a pay as you go basis. In this system, users utilize the Internet and remote
data centers to run applications and store data. Cloud technology can allow more
efficient computing by removing most of the upfront costs of setting up an IT
infrastructure. It also allows organizations to expand or reduce their computing
facilities very quickly. Increasingly, cloud computing is perceived as a big step
toward the long held dream of computing as a managed utility similar to cable TV or
electricity.(Buyya et al, 2010) Cloud computing can be defined by certain criteria.
These features are what make cloud computing an attractive option for modern
organizations.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will ensure applications have the resources necessary with as few resources
as possible going unused. The last defining characteristic of cloud computing is
measureable service levels. Resource usage can be monitored effectively and
billed appropriately based on the level of use. Cloud computing can also be
separated into three broad categories of service: software as a service (SaaS),
platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS). SaaS are
applications that are typically run on remote computers that are owned and
operated by a third party; they connect to customers computers via the Internet.
Examples would be, accounting software such as QuickBook on the enterprise
side and services like Facebook or Google on the consumer side. The second
category, PaaS is a platform for developers to design and build their own
applications rather than use existing ones. These applications could range from a
web site to a custom operating system. An example of a PaaS provider is Windows
Azure Cloud Services. The third and final type of cloud offering is IaaS. IaaS is
the actual nuts and bolts of computing hardware in virtual form. An IaaS provider
such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) can offer their customers access to server
farms that otherwise would be beyond their capability to operate.(Juve et al, 2013)
Cloud computing, as it has come to be understood, is more than simply storing data
remotely. It is instead, the idea of the technology itself
The Importance Of Robust Vocabulary Instruction On
Children
Introduction: This study had more than one purpose. The first purpose was to
observe the outcomes of robust vocabulary instruction on children who were
determined to have below average vocabulary skills. The children s level of
vocabulary was determined by a standardized test of vocabulary. The second
purpose was to observe how African American children retain novel vocabulary
words and what type of book influences that. The literature review for this study
covers robust vocabulary instruction and the role of storybooks in vocabulary
development. Beck, Perfetti, and McKeown (1982) acknowledged robust
vocabulary instruction as an effective way for children to learn meanings of words
and improve their understanding of what they are reading (as cited in Lovelace,
2009, p. 169). Using robust vocabulary instruction allows children to understand how
words are similar and different from other words or ideas. Beck et al. (1982)
conducted a study using fourth grade students from low socioeconomic statusto
determine the outcome of using robust vocabulary instruction compared with regular
reading and languagearts activities (as cited in Lovelace, 2009, p 169). There have
been a few studies after that compare the effects of robust vocabulary instruction on
different parts of vocabulary acquisition and understanding. All of the previous
studies specifically on robust vocabulary instruction found that it is beneficial gaining
knowledge of vocabulary words in students of low SES.
Acid Rain Affects Ocean Life And Ecosystems
What is acid rain? Acid rain is rain that becomes acidified in the atmosphere. In this
situation, acid rain can cause lots of damage, and we are going to have to pay for
it.Our earth is getting destroyed by many things. These things can be air pollution,
water pollution or even global warming. One main thing is acid rain. Acid rain
destroys water, forest, and it kills wildlife. All of these damages affect ocean life
and ecosystems. Acid rain damages wildlife and their environments. For example,
according to Marian Chertow, he says that acid rain damages lakes, rivers, and
streams. Therefore, because the water is polluted with more of the wildlife will
die from the acids in the water. In this case, this part is important because if you
think about it, many people and animals get food from the water. For example, the
fish live in the ponds. But if the acid from the acid rain gets into the water. Then
the fish will die and that will be less food for animals and humans. This means that
the animal life will die down. For instance, according to Marian Chertow he claims,
acid rain can damage forests and soil. Therefore, forests and many areas that
contribute to soil are places for animals to live. So this means that they will lose...

This is very important because is all of the ecosystems get destroyed, then none of
the animals will have a place to live and be safe. So, therefore, it will be hard for

animals and their

Projections that have been made about how today s society and culture will look
in the coming years, decades, and centuries, all have yet to be seen in how valid
they are. If you look in any sort of media: television, social media, or radio/music,
you will see people giving their interpretations of what will become of our world
down the road. Yet, few people look to see how our the current state of culture and
society reflect the projections made by people in previous years, decades, and
centuries. In looking at the visions of the future presented by both novelas, The Time
Machineby H.G. Wells, and The Machine Stopsby E.M. Forster, each story presents
aspects of society that prominently appear today. Written during the Industrial
Revolution, a time where technology and humaninnovation was at one of its highest
points in recent history, both stories explore the possible effects of the machinery that
was becoming evermore present. Both authors present aspects such as omnipotent
technology, decaying human independence, and destruction of real communication,
to create the artistic statement that complacency is rising within the human race, and
that complacency will eventually lead to the fall of mankind. In both stories, the
authors speak against human complacency and deference to technology, warning that
it will lead to the creation of weaker people and society that will ultimately destroy
the human race, yet that complacency is present in today s culture and due to the
The Rise of Environmentalism in the United States Essay
The Rise of Environmentalism in the United States Eden; it is a word that, for most,
inspires thoughts of lush green trees, untarnished fruit, soft green grass, perfect blue
skies, and harmony within nature. According to Judeo Christian teachings, this is
similar to the state in which the world began. It was an environment unspoiled by
humans, unblemished by their pollution. Such a pristine utopia is often hard for a
person to imagine today amongst the industrial smokestacks and their billowing gray
clouds, between the rancid landfill mounds, and surrounded by stagnant pools of oil
slicked water. The environment in America today is far from Eden, but there is a

However, until around 1920 nature was little more than the supplier of life
sustaining necessities3. From nature Americans obtained wood for their homes,
fuel for their fires, and plants and game for their meals. At this time the concern for
nature was not for it s innate beauty or pure state, but rather for it s productivity. If
nature was providing ample food and shelter is was serving its necessitated
purpose. As the American economy grew in the 1920 s so too did peoples
personal finances. With a booming economy people had larger spending, or
discretionary funds. This brought upon the shift from a market of necessities to a
market of convenience goods. At this point there is still very little mention of the
environment. One could argue that the Soil Conservation Act of 1933 showed
concern for the environment, but the real motive behind the Act was a concern for
crop productivity. With a passing of the Soil Conservation and the similar Taylor
Grazing Act, the idea of natural resources is popularized. The idea of natural
resources, however, still portrays the idea that people saw nature as a service to
humans. It isn t until the F. D. Roosevelt administration that nature is preserved
simply for being natural. The era of FDR was one of secure economy and growing
incomes. With the popularization of the automobile, people began urbanizing around
cities and living further from their work places, many gained leisure and vacation
time, and for the first time
Fate In Oedipus The King
Everyone has a predestined path for their lives. However, some people think actions
can be taken to alter their preordained destinies or their fates. Fate is defined,
according to Merriam Webster, as the things that will happen to a person or thing: the
future that someone or something will have or a power that is believed to control
what happens in the future. An individual s destinyis a powerful force and ultimately
inevitable. Destiny is inescapable. E.A. Sophoclesdemonstrates the power and
inescapability of fate in his Greek Tragedy Oedipus the King. The unavoidability is
shown through Oedipus life by a shepherd saving him from his death as a baby,
Oedipus meeting and killing his father without realizing, and by unknowingly
having an incestuous relationship with his mother. The first example of Oedipus
inevitable fate is the shepherd ignoring Jocasta s request to kill her baby, Oedipus.
While Oedipus is panicking, Jocasta explains the need for murdering her baby,
there came once an oracle to Laius: if ever son were bred from me and him, by that
son s hand, it said, Laius must die (Sophocles 36). Laius and Jocasta have confidence
in the foretold future... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Nassaar, In this reading, Apollo is seen as deliberately pushing
Oedipus to flee to Thebes and bring about the fulfilment of the god s dark prophecy
(147). Some put the blame of Oedipus fate coming true on Oedipus, himself. Others
believe Oedipus did not investigate enough about the prophecy. Had he done so, he
would have discovered his real parents and avoided his fate (Nassaar 147). Though
it is true that if Oedipus had acted rationally about the prophecy he could have
prevented his fate, however, fate is a powerful force and would found another way to
have Oedipus complete is destiny. His destiny would have been delayed but not

Physics in Cameras
Cameras have been a popular device ever since they were invented during the late
1800 s. Cameras are electronics that give us the ability to capture a moment with
the push of a button. These little machines allow a real life image to be seen on
paper and to be kept as a memento. The way that cameras are able to do this is
through physics. Cameras are relatable to physics because they involve visible light,
light refraction, light reflections, and electromagnetic fields in the motor. Cameras
are involved with physics because they use visible light to capture a picture. Visible
light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The electromagnetic spectrum contains
different wavelengths and frequencies. The visible light spectrum is the part of the
electromagnetic spectrum that humans can see. Specific wavelengths in the
spectrum are represented by specific colors. This is how humans are able to
perceive colors, through visible light. When a camera captures an image, it uses
visible light to capture the different wavelengths. These wavelengths are seen as
different colors which come together to create the image. Visible light is what allows
the colors that create the image to be seen when the picture is captured.
Cameras are also involved with physics because they use light refraction to focus the
image. Light refraction is the change in the speed of light when it enters a medium
of a different speed. For example, lenses on a camera are mediums that refract light.

Leonard The Pedestrian Analysis
The Pedestrian gives the reader an idea about the future when Leonard Mead lived.
Leonard likes to go for a walk every night, and it is highly unusual because during
this time people stay inside their homes and had fancy gadgets. The year is 2053
and Leonard has a tradition to walk and enjoy the peaceful nature the world has to
offer. Leonard is a retired author who hasn t published a book in a long time
because books are also a thing of the past. In all the time walkingLeonard has never
seen another person walking by. Leonard is abnormal during this period because he
lives at his home alone with no wife or children to keep him company. Leonard s
behavior is not acceptable in the society that his is living in, he gets arrested one night
The Importance Of Living In Chagrin Falls, Ohio
Chagrin Falls, Ohio is often referred to as a bubble town which accurately embodies
its nickname. Having lived in Chagrin my entire life, I reluctantly agree with the
Urban Dictionary definitions of usually a small town where very few events of
interest occur or a sheltered and naive place to live, where youth can t understand the
cruelty of the realworld because they re too sheltered by their protective bubble.
Reading our weekly town police blotter sheds light that a cat getting locked in a
closet is big news and that this little town in Cuyahoga County is a bit isolated and
ignorant to the outside world. This little town is all about the Friday Night Lights
where our high school football team is the center focus having made multiple visits to
the state championship. These facts transpire as the reason I try to defy this
reputation. Despite the influence that one s surroundings can hold over their life, I
believe that this remains easy only with complacency. I have been one of two in my
high school that have participated in nationwide golf tournaments. Incidentally, the
second guy became involved by my lead. In addition, I have also been involved with
the local Chagrin Falls Park Community Center to ignore the bubble that quarantines
many people s expectations of themselves.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Stylistic Prose Techniques In Cry, The Beloved Country By...
Stylistic prose technique 1: IMAGERY Authors who use imagery wish to give the
readers a physical feeling of literature while reading any sort of piece. It allows for
the audience to connect to the characters on a deeper level by having them
experience the same feelings, smells, noises, etc, as did the roles in the novel. Alan
Patonuses a strong voice packed with imagery in his passage, For they grow red
and bare; they cannot hold the rain and mist, and the streams are dry in the kloofs.
Too many cattle feed upon the grass, and too many fires have burned it. Stand shod
upon it, for it is coarse and sharp, and the stones cut under the feet. It is not kept or
guarded, or cared for, it no longer keeps men, guards men, cares for men (Paton,
34). The overwhelming senses of touch and vision are more than prevalent in this
brief passage, with Paton perfectly conveying the atmosphere of rural South Africa
in the 1940 s. The reader gets a catholic impression of the arid climate as well as the
deteriorated lands on which it rests. By including this in his novel, Alan Paton
establishes a thorough setting, one of which the reader can fully understand for the
remaining duration of Cry, The Beloved Country.
Stylistic prose technique 2: DRAMATIC IRONYIn short, dramatic irony is in any
given literary scenario when future actions can be accurately anticipated by the
readers but not the characters. It often includes cliches and is used by authors
wishing to give their audience insight that their characters do not yet have. Powerful
dramatic irony is demonstrated in the scene: Shall I get your ticket for you,
umfundisi? Then you need not lose your place in the line while I go to the ticket
office... As though he has suddenly though of something he left the line, and walked
to the corner, but there was no sign of the young man... Where is the ticket office
my friend? You get your ticket on the bus. There is no ticket office (Paton, 49). Alan
Paton is able to show how vulnerable and naГЇve Stephen Kumalo is to the big city;
using something so predictable as a sly, nevertheless, predictable con artist, he shows
how foreign lies and deceit are to the pastor.
Stylistic prose technique 3: LOGOS Logos is a stylistic prose

3.To identify the main stakeholders we have to differentiate the qualities and
recognise the levels of significance they hold to the organisation. We can do this by
analysing stakeholders by categorising them, such as internal and external
stakeholders and by using the power interest matrix as shown in appendix 2. There
are 4 categories within the power interest matrix that we can apply to Ministry of
sound. The fist being A minimal effort which is low power and low interest, they do
not have any authority they can exert onto the organisation. Then there is B keep
informed these stakeholders have high interest and limited ability to influence
directly, for example those who visit the nightclubs and events and retail customers.
However they do expect a high quality service or product, whilst expecting a
euphoric experience. Category C keep satisfied are stakeholders that have low level
interest but can exert change relatively easily, such as government bodies or local
authorities. Their expectations seem to be generic to all other organisations, follow
laws and regulations and act coherently within society. Lastly being arguably the most
important stakeholders are D key players these are employees and investors like
venture capitalists 3i, who are key players in ministry of sound organisation.
Expecting good return on investment and dividends, whilst expanding creating

Secondary School Of Computing And The Arts
Short introduction (1 page max)
Introduction
Lostcause secondary school of computing and the Arts has asked us to design a
new computer class room to support both subjects of computing and arts, and since
both arts and computing are both excellent standard, we would need to match its
excellent status. This would have a room where half of the room which would be
specialised in both specified, where if it was for arts, there would be added software
like photoshop, and other editing software. I would say having one half of the room
for arts and the other half computing make sense because students will know where
to find themselves for specified subjects. Or they can be mixed but as long as there is
specific software being added.

This will cover what is needed, what hardware and software are needed. what needed
/ specific computers/specific devices
There will be a lot needed into making the class to have computers which will
support both subjects. This is because computing and art are different subjects and
having to bring both subjects together could demand a lot. Computers will be the key
feature to making this class.
There is more into art than just having a pen and drawing or painting pictures on a
paper. The technology has advanced and discovered new kind of art within
computers. Most of the modern day computers can support computing and basic art.
In order to have a fully functioning computer that can cover both subjects is having
to get suitable software and having the right aspects in a computer. You don t want to
be buying a computer and having to install a software which will reduce the
performance of the computer. It s important to know the aspects of a computer before
buying.
The most suitable computers I would recommend are apple based computers, HP,
Dell and Samsung. These are big brands and most reliable. There are more
computer companies that are suitable for both computing and arts but for now
choose to call out the big names for a simple fact. They have a wider range of usage
in every continent. This means that if you have any technical difficulties that are

The Plague Of The Bubonic Plague
The plague was a catastrophic time in history, and happened more than once. It took
millions and millions of people s lives. It destroyed cities and countries, and many
people suffered from it.
What is the plague? The plague or referred to as the Black Death, according to the
CDC (2015), is a disease that affects humans and other mammals and caused by the
Yersinia pestis bacteria. Humans usually get plague after being bitten by a rodent
flea that is carrying the plague bacterium or by handling an animal infected with
plague . There are three categories of a plague. There is the bubonic plague, which is
the most common form. With this form bacteria infects the lymph system and
causes it to become inflamed. Symptoms of this type of plague are fever, headache,
chills, and swollen and tender lymph nodes, which are called buboes. Then there is
the Septicemic, which occurs when the bacteria multiply in the blood. Symptoms of
this type of plague are fever, chills, extreme weakness, abdominal pain, shock, and
possibly bleeding into the skin and other organs. Also, skin and other tissues may
turn black and die, especially fingers, toes and the nose (CDC, 2015). Then there is
the Pneumonic Plague, which is the most serious form of plague and occurs when Y.
pestis bacteria infect the lungs and cause pneumonia (NIH, 2015). This is the only
form of the plague that can be transmitted human to human. Symptoms of this form of
the plague are ever, headache, weakness, and a rapidly
Conformity And Terror Management Theory
Here is a question for you: How should you live your life? Should you live it like
everyone else? Should you strive to be something more or not? Or should you live
in fear? These questions pose a theory, concept, or perspective within them. If you
want to live a life like every other human being, that is conformity. To strive or not
to strive depends on the kind of mindset you have fixed or growth. Lastly, if you are
living in fear, you should work on your terror management. Conformity, fixed/growth
mindset, and terror management theory have impacted me in the past, and I know
how it will affect me in the future. The first concept that came to my mind is how
much I conform. Conformity is defined as a change in one s behavior due to real...

This theory holds that self esteem serves as a buffer, protecting people from
terrifying thoughts about their own mortality (Aronson et al., 2016). Having a
high self esteem oversees that we will not have anxiety over our inevitable death. I
can probably assume how low everyone s terror management was after the 9/11.
People must have stressed that they can die any day now thus also having low self
esteem. Freud had some good ideas such as our coping mechanism to deny. We
have denial everyday by not accepting that we might die from going outside, in a
car, or on a plane. I know that eventually I will die, and it is terrifying to me. My
self esteem is not great, so I have poor terror management. I think about the future
graduating college, marrying someone, getting a job, etc. I hope I will live a good
life, but the idea that is always lurking in my mind is what happens after I die? I
am writing this paper, I will eat, then sleep, this is my life; it is a cycle. Time is
infinite, but my time is not, I know that, but I really do not want my time to stop, but
it will happen. This sounds a bit philosophical, but I feel like I do resemble someone
with a low terror management. In the future, I should not think about this theory as
much and live my life to the
Masculinity Essay
Part A: Bronies and the Social Construction of Masculinity According to Connell,
there are four masculinities present in our society: hegemonic, complicit,
marginalized, and subordinate. Hegemonic masculinity is the dominant form of
masculinity in society. It is culturally valued as the most type of masculinity. Connell
states that the qualities of hegemonic masculinity include heterosexuality, whiteness,
physical strength, and suppression of emotions. When men do not fit the
characteristics of hegemonic masculinity but they do not challenge it means they
belong to the complicit masculinity category. These men often admire the
characteristics of hegemonic masculinity. Marginalized masculinity is when men

Bronies experience gender policing by family, friends, and the media. Gender
policing is the responses to the violation of gender rules aimed at promoting

what she would think if he liked the show My Little Pony, and she said she would

Theme Of Mid Term Break By Seamus Heaney
Throughout Seamus Heaney s many works, different tones were created because of
the sound devices he chose to use. Some of his works that include, the use of special
sound devices are Blackberry Picking, Mid Term Break, and Death of Naturalist. In
these different poems, Heaney makes use of different sounds in order to create the
mood or tone, he that he wanted to display through his writing.
In Heaney s poem Blackberry Picking, there are two sounds that were repeated
throughout the poem; those two sounds were of the letter B and the letter F. When
Heaney repeatedly used the letter B in Blackberry Picking the narrator seemed to
be excited, he was telling a story of picking berries, possibly to a friend and he was
speaking animatedly about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Death of a Naturalist, Heaney uses the clashing sound of consonants to create an
unpleasant and uncomfortable tone for the reader. Some examples of the
cacophony that was created are warm thick slobber/ of the frogspawn that grew
like clotted water (8 9) and Some sat/ poised like mud grenades, their blunt heads
farting (28 29). These sentence when read out loud do not please the ear at all, and
unpleasant sounds can translate to an unpleasant mood pretty easily just as
pleasant sounds can easily translate to a happy or joyful mood. The sound of the
words used and the description of the frogs in the poem can make the reader
uncomfortable and it can make them feel like they are also there in the lavishing
frogspawn. The poem as a whole sort of makes the reader feel like they are
physically dirty from being in the place with the narrator. Also in Death of a
Naturalist the narrator is a child, and the poem describes the transition of a specific
child who loses their love of nature because one day nature rebelled against him/her.
So the fact that Heaney used the ineloquent sound that cacophony can create, it
helped reinforce the childlike feeling of the narrator. Again in Death of a Naturalist
Heaney used a sound device to help create a tone that he wanted readers to catch

Mother Earth is where we as a human species live, thrive and die as we have done
for all the generations before us. She is in peril. There is a real threat looming over
our entire planet and it is requiring immediate action or the consequences are going to

To Be Thankful For Many Things
Always be thankful for what you have. I came up with this quote. I am thankful for
many things. These make up part of my everyday life. I am thankful for three main
earthly possessions. Those three are my house, my speaker, and my drumset. It is
really cool to own these things. I am thankful for many things. One of those is my
house. I like my house because that s where I live. I wake up there and that s where
I go after school. I also like to decorate the house on holidays. I help out with the
Halloween decorations. I also help with getting the decorations out of the attic. I
also like my house because my friends live near it. I go to their houses a lot because
they live down the street. Overall, these are many ways to show that I m thankful for

The Cultural Differences Of Chinese Culture And

As a Chinese international student studies in America, I have experienced two
different cultures, and I have seen Chinese practicing Chinese cultures in America,
and it makes Americans think that Chinese are straight and do not understand their
behaviors. This leads to questions of what the cultural barrier can cause and how the
cultural barrier affects life of people who have different different cultural
backgrounds? In Gary Althen s article American Values and Assumptions, Althen
pargues each group has its own culture, and he points out different American cultural
values. Another article by written by Yaping Tang, Polite but Thirsty, Tang is a
Chinese international student who comes to study in America, and he discusses the
difference between Chinese cultures and American cultures by discussing different
behavior practices. Every culture is unique; however, having many different
cultural diversity in today s society may cause cultural conflict within community
since other people may have different viewpoints on your cultural practice and they
may misunderstand your behavior. Therefore, it is important for people to
understand and respect other cultural practice, and it is a good idea to adapt and
learn other cultural values when people are in a new place. Overall, culture value
is a collection of value that is practiced by a group of people in a country, and every
group has its own cultural value to practice. Although it might not be shared or
agreed by other people,
The Internal Environment Of Embraer
This paper is a progressive writing for a group business report. In this paper, the
internal environment of the South African airline company, Embraer, will be
analysed. For this, a resource based model will be used to analyse Embraer s
internal resources, capabilities and core competencies that helped Embraer gain a
sustained competitive advantage. This will be followed by discussion on VRIO
framework to identify aptitude of resources that assisted Embraer to perform superior
over its counterparts. Included in the paper will also be discussion on the concept of

advantage because of their exposure to similar opportunities and threats in their

Bilbo Baggins Alternate Ending
One morning, Bilbo Baggins was standing outside of his hobbit hole, as peaceful
and quiet as ever, when he was approached by a familiar figure. At first, he hadn t
remembered who exactly he was, only knowing that the figure had gone around
The Hill and The Water, searching for hobbits interested in an adventure. Being
mostly a Baggins, he refused to listen to anything about an adventure. He soon
realized, that this was no ordinary figure he may have spotted once or twice in his
life, it was the mighty Gandalf. The most important wizard there has ever lived. Still,
even though he was being asked by Gandalf to join him on an adventure, Bilbo, as I
mentioned before, was a Baggins and he declined joining anyone on an adventure.

Bilbo being Bilbo, he forgot all about the wizard Gandalf coming over for tea. So,
he quickly scurried to set up the table and get the food ready. When he turned the
knob at the door he was surprised to find not Gandalf standing at the door, but two
dwarfs going by the name of Balin and Dwalin. Though Bilbo had no idea who
they were, staying with his manners, he politely welcomed them into his home. A
few minutes later, another ring came across, then another, then another. Within
moments, the room and kitchen had piled up with dwarfs, nine, to be exact. Then,
he heard a loud bang against the door. He had become furious with unexpected
guests roaming around his home, so he swiftly opened the door finding Gandalf
outside his hobbit hole, as well as 4 other dwarfs whose names included Bombur,
Bifur, Bofur, and the most powerful of all, Thorin. The rest of the night was all in
all complicated, and odd. As the dwarfs sang and sang, ate and ate, and chattered.
The most odd and complicated part of the day, however, was when Thorin and
Gandalf made a terrifying and shocking announcement. All of the dwarfs had
gathered at Bilbo s house to meet their journey s burglar, Bilbo. That s not all. The
journey itself could lead all of the hobbits and dwarfs to victory, or could sacrifice
their lives. The object of the adventure, was to hike up to The Lonely Mountain,
and recover the jewels and gold which were currently in Smaug the Magnificent s
posession. As Thorin had explained, his grandfather, Thror, and his ancestors had
discovered The Lonely Mountain and mined jewels and other precious stones from
within the mountains walls. A dragon, Smaug the Magnificent, had swept away all
of their jewels and gold, as well as swept away the population of the city Dale. It
had been hundreds of years since that had happened, but Thorin was now determined
to retrieve back what was his in the first place. Gandalf also presented

Something really irritating about is this Air Base is that no one takes pennies. Not
the Px, or the commissary, nor the shoppe. No one. Not a soul. I think they should
allow pennies, or at least have one of those coin counting machines from Wal Mart.
I have boats of pennies that I never use. I won t be using those pennies for the next
four years. I mean everytime I go to some type of Military store I have to pull out
the magical nickel I always have with me even though I m only paying three cents.
What s the purpose, I don t even get my change back. Why?, because they don t
have pennies! This base needs to get it together. There s no reason to have prices
like four fifty one, or twenty six cents. If I don t get my pennies in return. What

What Are The Effects Of Wolf Reintroduction
In 1995 the gray wolf (Canis lupus) was reintroduced into Yellowstone National
Park. The park had been without resident wolves for 70 years prior, when they
were killed off in the 1930 s. This meant that in those 70 years there was no research
on the effects of wolves on the park s ecosystem. In the decades since the
reintroduction, research has been able to proceed and has found some amazing
results. Not only did the reintroduction of wolvesimpact animal life, but it also had an
impact on plant life. In the past it was thought that an ecosystem was built from the
bottom up... with plant life as the basis from which everything grew. Almost all
conservation and reintroduction efforts were based on this idea. (Mission: Wolf

How Effective can International Law be as a Regulator of State Conduct?
Introduction
When sovereign states fail to comply with international law (IL), it can be stated
bluntly that supranational legal organizations are systematically incapable of
responding with coercive or punitive measures. If the efficacy of IL is unabashedly
defined in strict terms of coercive and punitive power, it is unsurprising that it falls
short as an effective regulatory mechanism of state conduct. Instead, a better measure
of effectiveness regarding international law is one that understands compliance of IL
as a norm adoption platform primarily directed at nation states. Effectiveness of IL as
a regulator of state conduct can be understood as the conformity of behavior to rules,
rather than the ultimate outcome of such conformity.
Institutional platforms, representing universally accepted social norms, have the
power to influence state behavior and legal order. International law can be an
effective regulatory mechanism for state conduct if a norm cycle activates in which
international norms trickle down into domestic structures and a trajectory towards
national policy outcomes transpires. International law can be immensely powerful in
influencing the domestic political arena; it is therefore conceivable that international
law could serve as a regulatory mechanism within state conduct given national
structures exhibit willingness and agreement with international norms.

Why Do Modern Science-Educated People Still Treat Race
Considering all the physical and genetic facts that tell us that there are no

Whenever we see someone of color we automatically assume that they are of a

Analysis Of The Book Watchmen By Dc Comics

Watchmen
Watchmen, by DC Comics, should be considered a literary work for its great use of
realism and deconstruction, storytelling and subplots, and the focus on personal
character development and their moral codes. Watchmen utilizes these aspects in a
way that makes the reader change the way they think about their popular culture and
what is valuable to them. These aspects help solidify the idea that Watchmenis the
first in a new breed of comics, one in which they make the transition from fantasy
to literature. It is a work that is recognized by many as a revolutionary comic
series, and is even lauded as one of the best novels and most significant works of the
20th century. It has solidified its place as a cultural classic in America and it would
be injudicious to not see Watchmen as a literary work.
In order to see Watchmen as a literary work, one must understand what that is. A
classic is a literary work our culture studies due to its ability to maintain being
conventional, or popular, and relevant despite times changing. When people think of
an American classic, people think of stories like Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird,
F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, and John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath. In
these novels, the authors utilize certain aspects of language, such as intense character
development, subplots, and realism, and ties them together to create great, detailed
storylines. This use of language and

Root Rot Caused By M. Phaseolina
Root rot caused by M. phaseolina (a soil as well as seed borne fungus) is a
devastating disease of mungbean and causes serious yield losses. The present study
has demonstrated that the fungus induced severe root rot in mungbean cv. T 44 and
exhibited significant decline in the plant growth and yield. This has verified that the
tested mungbean cv. T 44 was susceptible to the rootrot fungus. Rotting of tap root
and presence of few lateral roots is the characteristic symptom of the disease.
Because of few lateral roots and root hairs, drying and withering of leaves occurs
due to less water absorption. During the initial stages of pathogenesis, the fungal
hyphae penetrates the root epidermis which is restricted to the intercellular spaces
of the cortical tissues of the primary roots. Due to this, collapse of adjacent cells
occurs and heavily infected plantlets may die. Afterwards at the onset of flower, the
mycelium grow intracellularly through the xylem and plug the vessels [28, 29],
produce toxins and several enzymes [30, 31], and thereby disrupt host cells.
Inoculation with M. phaseolina decreased the growth and yield of mungbean by 32.1
45.5% and 36%, respectively.
Soil and seed borne nature of the pathogen creates problem for an effective
management of the root rot disease. Use of the chemicals is one of the best options
for the management of plant diseases which is quick as well as effective method. The
present approach was to manage the root rot disease by using
Communication Within The United States Marine Corps
To be early, is to be on time, to be on time, is to be late, and to be late, is out of the
question. Being able to adhere to a given deadline in a group situation, demonstrates
responsibility, time management, group cohesion, and progress. However, being that
a group is a collection of individuals with separate lives, there are times when
members of the group may be experiencing extenuating circumstances preventing the
group from completing a task on time. In such a scenario, communication within the

In a military situation, lack of communication can result in the loss of lives, or
failure to accomplish a goal as the power and upper hand is now in the hands of the

issues that arise prior to assignment completion will make the group ill prepared to
deal with the burden of new assignments, and lead us subject to punishment at any
time. The constant threat of punishment, or attack from a lack of communication
leads the group to be in a disorganized state and make careless mistakes out of
emotion. Secondly, communicating an issue prior to a deadline develops trust
between a group and those in charge of the group. In the military this is very

Why We Should be Concerned about Greenwashing in the Automotive Industry
In a world focused on climate change and sustainable development, it is apparent that
people have become more interested in the environmentally related behavior of
corporations and have increased their demand for green products. In response to this
growing demand, numerous corporations have shifted towards being more
sustainable and have made several green marketing claims. While some of these
companies are actually carrying out robust sustainability practices, most companies
practices do not match up to the image they convey to the public and are guilty of
greenwashing. The term greenwashing is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary
as disinformation disseminated by an organization so as to present an
environmentally responsible public image. Advertising plays a major role in shaping
consumer behavior and companies guilty of greenwashing are educating consumers
with false or distorted information. This is significant because the general population
s desire to purchase products that are environmentally friendly is being hampered by
the current cloud of greenwashing allegations, making it increasingly difficult for
consumers to distinguish fact from fiction. Although the upward trend in green
consumerism has affected several industries, it has had a noteworthy impact on the
automotive industry, which has experienced a recent increase in the development of
environmentally friendly options such as
The Culture Of The Creole Culture
The creoles are a big part of who we are today. The colonial term Creole means a
person of mixed European and black descent. They started things like language,
food, religion, and music that we still use, cook, and listen to today. Creole culture
is a mix of French, African, and Native American customs. Creoles are a self

who live in the coastal area of Louisianamainly New Orleans. (galegroup.com
Creoles ) The French and Spanish in New Orleans started calling themselves
Creoles after the Louisiana Purchase when the English started moving in. The
Creoles were a different color and separated from all of the other people. In 1724
they were put under Code Noir also known as the Black Code. According to the
Code Noir, they could own slaves, own real estate, and be reorganized in court. But

Role Of Stephen King s Stories
The Role of Stephen King s Stories in Modern American Literature Stephen King
is one of the most prolific writers of this century. He has written a number of short
stories and novels many of which have been turned into movies. One of the
reasons that King s works are popular with readers is due to the fact that his stories
give the reader something outside of the formulaic formula that many books are
inclined to follow or endings that are predictable and derivative. King also made
his foray into horror in the 1970 s when the genre was kind of lackluster. King
offered the reader something different in that he did not shy away from the gore,
gratuitous violence or cheap shocks. One of the reasons that King s works have so
much power when it comes to the imagination is because he himself is a horror
aficionado, who writes according to his worldview. Readers can also see the
influence that Classic literature has had on the works of King. Just as the works
of the Ancient Greeks and later Shakespeare focused on certain themes, such as
man versus nature, good versus evil or love versus hate, so do the works of King.
However, in his works King tends to twist the traditional plot of Shakespeare and
the Classic by having his characters go from hero to villain or showing the loss of
man s honor or humanity in the wake of horror. One of the things seen often times
in his writing is the alienation of both the individual and of society. Publication of

Ecclesiastes Word Vanity Essay
In the book of Ecclesiastes, the word vanity is used almost thirty five times,
compared to approximately twenty five times elsewhere in the Old Testament
(Meek, n.d.). Furthermore, when a single word is used multiple times throughout a
book in the Bible such as the word vanity, it is important to understand the word s
contextual meaning to determine the biblical significance of the word vanity.
Subsequently, in other books of the Bible the words vain, vanity, and vanities, are
primarily associated with emptiness, worthlessness, wickedness, falseness, or a
breath (Meek, n.d.). Therefore, in the analysis of the word vanity within the book of
Ecclesiastes, I believe it is important to ascertain the identity of the person suspected
of authoring this book to assist in the comprehension of the word vanity.
Consequently, the author of book of Ecclesiastes was a teacher of wisdom and in

Additionally, Qoheleth s message in the book of Ecclesiastes can be simply
summarized as life is hard and humankind will never understand the fulfillment of life
regardless of where they chose to seek happiness whether it is in work, pleasure,
wisdom, wealth, and status (Longman, 2009). Moreover, the author is portraying
humankind does not have a chance to understand the vanities of life before their
death (Longman, 2009). Next, as we continue to understand the word vanity within
the book of Ecclesiastes, many Christians interpret Qoheleth s emphasis on vanity or
meaninglessness as a conclusion about a life without a God (Ortlund, 2013). Thus,
Qoheleth s usage of the word vanity is synonymous with how he portrays life as
under the sun and human accomplishment; therefore, no matter how hard we work
the impact of lives dies with us in our grave (Ortlund,

Nurse Practitioner Practice Model Vs Symptom
Management...
As part of the theme for the theory development for my nurse practitioner career, I
chose the Nurse Practitioner Practice Model and the Symptom Management Theory.
Each of these theories is unique, but have different aspects that appeal to the overall
trend of my theory development. As a nurse practitioner, I see the end goal as
helping people achieve their goal of health, by integrating medicine and nursing. The
Nurse Practitioner Practice Model helps by giving a framework to mesh nursing and
medicine together (Shuler Davis, 1993) The Symptom Management Theory gives a
framework to manage symptoms, not only by the symptoms themselves, but take in
consideration the individuals characteristics (Linder, 2010). As a nurse practitioner, I
feel the two coexist together perfectly. Since every patient expresses a symptom or
the lack of symptoms, when seeing a nurse practitioner, these middle range theories
are congruent with everyday practice at the nurse clinician level.... Show more content

Although each theory presents a framework, how that framework was built upon is
different. While the Symptom management theory is built around what the patient
experiences and the outcomes, the Nurse Practitioner Practice Model is centered
around the treatment from a holistic approach and the patient is responsible for his
/her health. The Nurse Practitioner Practice Model focuses on the concepts of Person,
Health, Nursing, NP Role, and the Environment (Shuler Davis, 1993). The Symptom
Management Theory relies on the concepts of system experience, system
management strategies, and outcome. The author of the Nurse Practitioner Practice
Model addresses the intrinsic differences between the philosophies of doctors and
nurses. The nurse practitioner assesses and treats the condition, while addressing the
patient s response to conceivable or actual problems (Shuler Davis,

happens when the focus is on process rather than product in project based learning.
The book provides approaches on how to nurture the creativity of children, which

Businesses find they must incorporate many of the new technological procedures, processes, policies, hardware, and software into their environment to remain competitive. The impact from these technological advances on how work is performed affects the workforce far differently now than what has been seen over the past 25 years. In this system, users utilize the Internet and remote data centers to run applications and store data. Cloud technology can allow more efficient computing by removing most of the upfront costs of setting up an IT infrastructure. It also allows organizations to expand or reduce their computing facilities very quickly. Increasingly, cloud computing is perceived as a big step toward the long held dream of computing as a managed utility similar to cable TV or electricity.(Buyya et al, 2010) Cloud computing can be defined by certain criteria. This will ensure applications have the resources necessary with as few resources as possible going unused. The last defining characteristic of cloud computing is measureable service levels. Resource usage can be monitored effectively and billed appropriately based on the level of use. Cloud computing can also be separated into three broad categories of service: software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS). SaaS are applications that are typically run on remote computers that are owned and operated by a third party; they connect to customers computers via the Internet. Examples would be, accounting software such as QuickBook on the enterprise side and services like Facebook or Google on the consumer side. The second category, PaaS is a platform for developers to design and build their own applications rather than use existing ones. These applications could range from a web site to a custom operating system. An example of a PaaS provider is Windows Azure Cloud Services. The third and final type of cloud offering is IaaS. IaaS is the actual nuts and bolts of computing hardware in virtual form. An IaaS provider such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) can offer their customers access to server farms that otherwise would be beyond their capability to operate.(Juve et al, 2013) Cloud computing, as it has come to be understood, is more than simply storing data remotely. It is instead, the idea of the technology itself
  • 4. The Importance Of Robust Vocabulary Instruction On Children Introduction: This study had more than one purpose. The first purpose was to observe the outcomes of robust vocabulary instruction on children who were determined to have below average vocabulary skills. The children s level of vocabulary was determined by a standardized test of vocabulary. The second purpose was to observe how African American children retain novel vocabulary words and what type of book influences that. The literature review for this study covers robust vocabulary instruction and the role of storybooks in vocabulary development. Beck, Perfetti, and McKeown (1982) acknowledged robust vocabulary instruction as an effective way for children to learn meanings of words and improve their understanding of what they are reading (as cited in Lovelace, 2009, p. 169). Using robust vocabulary instruction allows children to understand how words are similar and different from other words or ideas. Beck et al. (1982) conducted a study using fourth grade students from low socioeconomic statusto determine the outcome of using robust vocabulary instruction compared with regular reading and languagearts activities (as cited in Lovelace, 2009, p 169). There have been a few studies after that compare the effects of robust vocabulary instruction on different parts of vocabulary acquisition and understanding. All of the previous studies specifically on robust vocabulary instruction found that it is beneficial gaining knowledge of vocabulary words in students of low SES.

Therefore, because the water is polluted with more of the wildlife will die from the acids in the water. In this case, this part is important because if you think about it, many people and animals get food from the water. For example, the fish live in the ponds. But if the acid from the acid rain gets into the water. Then the fish will die and that will be less food for animals and humans. In looking at the visions of the future presented by both novelas, The Time Machineby H.G. Wells, and The Machine Stopsby E.M. Written during the Industrial Revolution, a time where technology and humaninnovation was at one of its highest points in recent history, both stories explore the possible effects of the machinery that was becoming evermore present. Both authors present aspects such as omnipotent technology, decaying human independence, and destruction of real communication, to create the artistic statement that complacency is rising within the human race, and that complacency will eventually lead to the fall of mankind. In both stories, the authors speak against human complacency and deference to technology, warning that it will lead to the creation of weaker people and society that will ultimately destroy the human race, yet that complacency is present in today s culture and due to the

The Rise of Environmentalism in the United States Essay The Rise of Environmentalism in the United States Eden; it is a word that, for most, inspires thoughts of lush green trees, untarnished fruit, soft green grass, perfect blue skies, and harmony within nature. According to Judeo Christian teachings, this is similar to the state in which the world began. It was an environment unspoiled by humans, unblemished by their pollution. Such a pristine utopia is often hard for a person to imagine today amongst the industrial smokestacks and their billowing gray clouds, between the rancid landfill mounds, and surrounded by stagnant pools of oil slicked water. However, until around 1920 nature was little more than the supplier of life sustaining necessities3. From nature Americans obtained wood for their homes, fuel for their fires, and plants and game for their meals. At this time the concern for nature was not for it s innate beauty or pure state, but rather for it s productivity. If nature was providing ample food and shelter is was serving its necessitated purpose. As the American economy grew in the 1920 s so too did peoples personal finances. With a booming economy people had larger spending, or discretionary funds. This brought upon the shift from a market of necessities to a market of convenience goods. At this point there is still very little mention of the environment. One could argue that the Soil Conservation Act of 1933 showed concern for the environment, but the real motive behind the Act was a concern for crop productivity. With a passing of the Soil Conservation and the similar Taylor Grazing Act, the idea of natural resources is popularized. The idea of natural resources, however, still portrays the idea that people saw nature as a service to humans. It isn t until the F. D. Roosevelt administration that nature is preserved simply for being natural. The era of FDR was one of secure economy and growing incomes. With the popularization of the automobile, people began urbanizing around cities and living further from their work places, many gained leisure and vacation time, and for the first time
  • 8. Fate In Oedipus The King Everyone has a predestined path for their lives. However, some people think actions can be taken to alter their preordained destinies or their fates. Fate is defined, according to Merriam Webster, as the things that will happen to a person or thing: the future that someone or something will have or a power that is believed to control what happens in the future. An individual s destinyis a powerful force and ultimately inevitable. Destiny is inescapable. E.A. Sophoclesdemonstrates the power and inescapability of fate in his Greek Tragedy Oedipus the King. The unavoidability is shown through Oedipus life by a shepherd saving him from his death as a baby, Oedipus meeting and killing his father without realizing, and by unknowingly having an incestuous relationship with his mother. The first example of Oedipus inevitable fate is the shepherd ignoring Jocasta s request to kill her baby, Oedipus. While Oedipus is panicking, Jocasta explains the need for murdering her baby, there came once an oracle to Laius: if ever son were bred from me and him, by that son s hand, it said, Laius must die (Sophocles 36). Had he done so, he would have discovered his real parents and avoided his fate (Nassaar 147). Though it is true that if Oedipus had acted rationally about the prophecy he could have prevented his fate, however, fate is a powerful force and would found another way to have Oedipus complete is destiny. • 9. Physics in Cameras Cameras have been a popular device ever since they were invented during the late 1800 s. Cameras are electronics that give us the ability to capture a moment with the push of a button. These little machines allow a real life image to be seen on paper and to be kept as a memento. The way that cameras are able to do this is through physics. Cameras are relatable to physics because they involve visible light, light refraction, light reflections, and electromagnetic fields in the motor. Cameras are involved with physics because they use visible light to capture a picture. Visible light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The electromagnetic spectrum contains different wavelengths and frequencies. The visible light spectrum is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that humans can see. Specific wavelengths in the spectrum are represented by specific colors. This is how humans are able to perceive colors, through visible light. When a camera captures an image, it uses visible light to capture the different wavelengths. These wavelengths are seen as different colors which come together to create the image. Visible light is what allows the colors that create the image to be seen when the picture is captured. Cameras are also involved with physics because they use light refraction to focus the image. Light refraction is the change in the speed of light when it enters a medium of a different speed. For example, lenses on a camera are mediums that refract light. The light wave

  • 12. Stylistic Prose Techniques In Cry, The Beloved Country By... Stylistic prose technique 1: IMAGERY Authors who use imagery wish to give the readers a physical feeling of literature while reading any sort of piece. It allows for the audience to connect to the characters on a deeper level by having them experience the same feelings, smells, noises, etc, as did the roles in the novel. Alan Patonuses a strong voice packed with imagery in his passage, For they grow red and bare; they cannot hold the rain and mist, and the streams are dry in the kloofs. Too many cattle feed upon the grass, and too many fires have burned it. Stand shod upon it, for it is coarse and sharp, and the stones cut under the feet. It is not kept or guarded, or cared for, it no longer keeps men, guards men, cares for men (Paton, 34). The overwhelming senses of touch and vision are more than prevalent in this brief passage, with Paton perfectly conveying the atmosphere of rural South Africa in the 1940 s. The reader gets a catholic impression of the arid climate as well as the deteriorated lands on which it rests. By including this in his novel, Alan Paton establishes a thorough setting, one of which the reader can fully understand for the remaining duration of Cry, The Beloved Country. Stylistic prose technique 2: DRAMATIC IRONYIn short, dramatic irony is in any given literary scenario when future actions can be accurately anticipated by the readers but not the characters. It often includes cliches and is used by authors wishing to give their audience insight that their characters do not yet have. Powerful dramatic irony is demonstrated in the scene: Shall I get your ticket for you, umfundisi? Then you need not lose your place in the line while I go to the ticket office... As though he has suddenly though of something he left the line, and walked to the corner, but there was no sign of the young man... Where is the ticket office my friend? You get your ticket on the bus. There is no ticket office (Paton, 49). Alan Paton is able to show how vulnerable and naГЇve Stephen Kumalo is to the big city; using something so predictable as a sly, nevertheless, predictable con artist, he shows how foreign lies and deceit are to the pastor. Stylistic prose technique 3: LOGOS Logos is a stylistic prose

Humans usually get plague after being bitten by a rodent flea that is carrying the plague bacterium or by handling an animal infected with plague . There are three categories of a plague. There is the bubonic plague, which is the most common form. With this form bacteria infects the lymph system and causes it to become inflamed. • 26. What Are The Effects Of Wolf Reintroduction In 1995 the gray wolf (Canis lupus) was reintroduced into Yellowstone National Park. The park had been without resident wolves for 70 years prior, when they were killed off in the 1930 s. This meant that in those 70 years there was no research on the effects of wolves on the park s ecosystem. In the decades since the reintroduction, research has been able to proceed and has found some amazing results. Not only did the reintroduction of wolvesimpact animal life, but it also had an impact on plant life. In the past it was thought that an ecosystem was built from the bottom up... with plant life as the basis from which everything grew. Almost all conservation and reintroduction efforts were based on this idea. (Mission: Wolf Education vs Extinction)

Introduction When sovereign states fail to comply with international law (IL), it can be stated bluntly that supranational legal organizations are systematically incapable of responding with coercive or punitive measures. If the efficacy of IL is unabashedly defined in strict terms of coercive and punitive power, it is unsurprising that it falls short as an effective regulatory mechanism of state conduct. Instead, a better measure of effectiveness regarding international law is one that understands compliance of IL as a norm adoption platform primarily directed at nation states. Effectiveness of IL as a regulator of state conduct can be understood as the conformity of behavior to rules, rather than the ultimate outcome of such conformity. Institutional platforms, representing universally accepted social norms, have the power to influence state behavior and legal order. International law can be an effective regulatory mechanism for state conduct if a norm cycle activates in which international norms trickle down into domestic structures and a trajectory towards national policy outcomes transpires. International law can be immensely powerful in influencing the domestic political arena; it is therefore conceivable that international law could serve as a regulatory mechanism within state conduct given national structures exhibit willingness and agreement with international norms. Analysis Of The Book Watchmen By Dc Comics Colin Ellis Dr. Angel ENGL 2322.P01 21 March 2016 Watchmen Watchmen, by DC Comics, should be considered a literary work for its great use of realism and deconstruction, storytelling and subplots, and the focus on personal character development and their moral codes. Watchmen utilizes these aspects in a way that makes the reader change the way they think about their popular culture and what is valuable to them. These aspects help solidify the idea that Watchmenis the first in a new breed of comics, one in which they make the transition from fantasy to literature. It is a work that is recognized by many as a revolutionary comic series, and is even lauded as one of the best novels and most significant works of the 20th century. It has solidified its place as a cultural classic in America and it would be injudicious to not see Watchmen as a literary work. In order to see Watchmen as a literary work, one must understand what that is. A classic is a literary work our culture studies due to its ability to maintain being conventional, or popular, and relevant despite times changing. When people think of an American classic, people think of stories like Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, and John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath. In these novels, the authors utilize certain aspects of language, such as intense character development, subplots, and realism, and ties them together to create great, detailed storylines. This use of language and

  • 33. Root Rot Caused By M. Phaseolina Root rot caused by M. phaseolina (a soil as well as seed borne fungus) is a devastating disease of mungbean and causes serious yield losses. The present study has demonstrated that the fungus induced severe root rot in mungbean cv. T 44 and exhibited significant decline in the plant growth and yield. This has verified that the tested mungbean cv. T 44 was susceptible to the rootrot fungus. Rotting of tap root and presence of few lateral roots is the characteristic symptom of the disease. Because of few lateral roots and root hairs, drying and withering of leaves occurs due to less water absorption. During the initial stages of pathogenesis, the fungal hyphae penetrates the root epidermis which is restricted to the intercellular spaces of the cortical tissues of the primary roots. Due to this, collapse of adjacent cells occurs and heavily infected plantlets may die. Afterwards at the onset of flower, the mycelium grow intracellularly through the xylem and plug the vessels [28, 29], produce toxins and several enzymes [30, 31], and thereby disrupt host cells. Inoculation with M. phaseolina decreased the growth and yield of mungbean by 32.1 45.5% and 36%, respectively. Soil and seed borne nature of the pathogen creates problem for an effective management of the root rot disease. Use of the chemicals is one of the best options for the management of plant diseases which is quick as well as effective method. The present approach was to manage the root rot disease by using

Why We Should be Concerned about Greenwashing in the Automotive Industry In a world focused on climate change and sustainable development, it is apparent that people have become more interested in the environmentally related behavior of corporations and have increased their demand for green products. In response to this growing demand, numerous corporations have shifted towards being more sustainable and have made several green marketing claims. While some of these companies are actually carrying out robust sustainability practices, most companies practices do not match up to the image they convey to the public and are guilty of greenwashing. The term greenwashing is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as disinformation disseminated by an organization so as to present an environmentally responsible public image. Advertising plays a major role in shaping consumer behavior and companies guilty of greenwashing are educating consumers with false or distorted information. This is significant because the general population s desire to purchase products that are environmentally friendly is being hampered by the current cloud of greenwashing allegations, making it increasingly difficult for consumers to distinguish fact from fiction. Although the upward trend in green consumerism has affected several industries, it has had a noteworthy impact on the automotive industry, which has experienced a recent increase in the development of environmentally friendly options such as

  • 37. Role Of Stephen King s Stories The Role of Stephen King s Stories in Modern American Literature Stephen King is one of the most prolific writers of this century. He has written a number of short stories and novels many of which have been turned into movies. One of the reasons that King s works are popular with readers is due to the fact that his stories give the reader something outside of the formulaic formula that many books are inclined to follow or endings that are predictable and derivative. King also made his foray into horror in the 1970 s when the genre was kind of lackluster. King offered the reader something different in that he did not shy away from the gore, gratuitous violence or cheap shocks. One of the reasons that King s works have so much power when it comes to the imagination is because he himself is a horror aficionado, who writes according to his worldview. Readers can also see the influence that Classic literature has had on the works of King. Just as the works of the Ancient Greeks and later Shakespeare focused on certain themes, such as man versus nature, good versus evil or love versus hate, so do the works of King. However, in his works King tends to twist the traditional plot of Shakespeare and the Classic by having his characters go from hero to villain or showing the loss of man s honor or humanity in the wake of horror. One of the things seen often times in his writing is the alienation of both the individual and of society. Publication of Mile 81 Mile 81 was

Ecclesiastes Word Vanity Essay In the book of Ecclesiastes, the word vanity is used almost thirty five times, compared to approximately twenty five times elsewhere in the Old Testament (Meek, n.d.). Furthermore, when a single word is used multiple times throughout a book in the Bible such as the word vanity, it is important to understand the word s contextual meaning to determine the biblical significance of the word vanity. Subsequently, in other books of the Bible the words vain, vanity, and vanities, are primarily associated with emptiness, worthlessness, wickedness, falseness, or a breath (Meek, n.d.). Therefore, in the analysis of the word vanity within the book of Ecclesiastes, I believe it is important to ascertain the identity of the person suspected of authoring this book to assist in the comprehension of the word vanity. Moreover, the author is portraying humankind does not have a chance to understand the vanities of life before their death (Longman, 2009). As part of the theme for the theory development for my nurse practitioner career, I chose the Nurse Practitioner Practice Model and the Symptom Management Theory. Each of these theories is unique, but have different aspects that appeal to the overall trend of my theory development. As a nurse practitioner, I see the end goal as helping people achieve their goal of health, by integrating medicine and nursing. The Nurse Practitioner Practice Model helps by giving a framework to mesh nursing and medicine together (Shuler Davis, 1993) The Symptom Management Theory gives a framework to manage symptoms, not only by the symptoms themselves, but take in consideration the individuals characteristics (Linder, 2010). As a nurse practitioner, I feel the two coexist together perfectly. Since every patient expresses a symptom or the lack of symptoms, when seeing a nurse practitioner, these middle range theories are congruent with everyday practice at the nurse clinician level....
