The Proponents Of Firearms ( 428 )
and looks to articulate Pelosi s position to oppose the proponents of firearms (428). Furthermore,
Wood s article provides information offered by Gun Free Schools that states reasons for not
owning guns in school. The first counterargument that Wood responds to is that concealed
handguns would detract from a healthy learning environment (428). The Colorado legislature
passed a law allowing lawful residents, who possess a concealed and carry permit, the ability to
possess a firearmon Colorado State campuses. To date this has not deterred nor diminished anyone s
ability to learn. While this is an effort to poison the well, it is an ineffective argument and fallacious
in nature. Next, Woods claims that Gun Free Schools make the statement that more guns on
campus would create additional risk for students (428). While this may be true, to a minor extent,
the benefit of protecting children certainly outweighs the additional risk. Additionally, with proper
training and the advent of new technologies that prevent an unauthorized individual from firing the
weapon, this because a moot point. The third argument Wood addresses is that shooters will not be
deterred by concealed carry permit holders (428). The point is not to deter an attacker with a
firearm, the point is to minimize the amount of damage an individual can perpetrate against an
unarmed individual. History has already been shown that these individuals wishing to harm
children do not think from a rational position.

The Advantage And Disadvantages Of Being An Instrument
Being stubborn has its advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that it leads to being
dedicated for everything you start. In middle school, specifically in fifth grade, band class and
being able to learn an instrument is first introduced to students. Many people sign up, trying out
instruments until they find one they enjoy. I, along with a handful of other people in my grade,
joined a year late. Not only was I a year late, but I also missed sign ups again, and joined a few
months into my sixth grade year. My first choice was percussion, but because I was so late, I was
not able to join the percussion if i wanted to reach up to the level my classmates were at. So I tried
out on flute, saxophone, and clarinet, and instantly fell in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It wasn t until about a month in that my band director told my class that there was a solo piece
needed on an instrument no one played in our band. She had asked if anyone wanted to learn the
instrument and the music. The room was quiet and stayed quiet until another clarinet player asked,
What instrument is it?
An oboe. Everyone started laughing. We had never even heard of this. While it seemed everyone
else just had brushed it off after having their laughs, I was intrigued. It amazed me that there was
more than just the basic 7 instruments we had first heard of. So, reluctantly, I raised my hand. I
was expecting her to be excited that someone had offered. Instead, she looked at me with worry
in her eyes and said, Are you sure? You might want to keep working with the clarinet. I didn t let
that change my mind. I nodded my head and she said, Okay, I ll bring it in tomorrow. That night,
I went home and researched everything I needed to know. From how to care for the reed, how to
clean it properly, and how to play it. I was ready.
I was excited to tell my parents. When I told them, they had almost the same reaction as my band
director. They told me I should focus on the instrument I had now. I told them I wanted to learn a
different instrument and that I was dedicated on playing it in the concert.
That week, I practiced every night. I learned the do s and dont s, the ups and downs, everything
that I needed to know. Every band class, I

Pros And Cons Of Xenotransplantation
Xenotransplantation is defined as The use of live nonhuman animal cells, tissues and organs in
human patients. (Fix, Megan. Fact Sheet on Xenotransplantation). There are pros and cons to
Xenotransplantation. Xenoplantation aims to increase organ availability, it has the potential to
open up new areas of research, and could end transplant list. The cons include high rejection rate,
moral/ethical issues, and transfer of diseases from animals to humans. After learning about the pros
and cons of Xenoplantation I believe that I am against it due to the ethical issues I have learned.
The pros of Xenoplantation include that xenotransplantation aims to increase organ availability, it
has the potential to open up new areas of research, and could end transplant list. The first pro
states that xenotransplantation aims to increase organ availability. In the Harvard University
article I read called Xenotransplantation: Can pigs save human lives? states that Xenoplantation
can increase organ availability by using pig organs as donors. Pigs organs are very similar to
humans and they would be readily available if needed. Second pro would be that is could open up
new areas of research. This is could definitely be beneficial because this would open new research
about treating illnesses meaning that different animals have individual ways of fighting infections
and through xenoplantation humans might be able to cure deadly diseases. Third pro is it could
end the transplant list. If xenoplantation has a positive outcome when transferring pig organs to
humans the availability of pig organs is much higher than human organs. This would help decrease
the organ transplant list and cut waiting time for patients. Those are the pros and here are the cons.
The cons of xenoplantation are high rejection rate, moral/ethical issues, and transfer of diseases
from animals to humans. High rejection rate is a big con because we already have issues with
human to human organs getting rejected. The human body rejects the organ from a recipient s
because of a protein called Human leukocyte antigen. Second Con would be the ethical issues that
come with xenotransplantation. The first moral issue would be with the animals, is it right to

Eugene Shepard Characterization
During 1893, in Rhineland, Wisconsin a mythical beast had emerged from the wilderness.
Eugene Shepard, who was a local resident and elder in Rhineland, was out on his weekly hike
when he stumbled across an odd creature. This creature was green, about a foot tall, seven feet
long, and weighed about 200 hundred pounds. It had razor sharp teeth like a saber tooth tiger,
white long claws, spikes of all sizes running all down its spine, and red glowing eyes that one
could not help but stare into. Not sure what to do, Shepard hurried back to town to tell everyone
his discovery. Town folk and lumberjacks gathered weapons, guns, and dogs to search for this
newly discovered Hodag. He led his group to his normal hiking trail, but instead of finding the

Symbolism In Strange Fruit By Abel Meeropol And The Flowers
Wherever there is difference, conflict often follows in pursuit. It is evident that this fact has been
present throughout humanity s history since the beginning of time. After thousands of years, it
should be exceedingly obvious of what is causing the great divide between human beings. Yet, even
with so many signs, the humanpopulation is often oblivious to the discriminationmany other
individuals face. For those who are aware, many remain hesitant to help and are even willing to
turn a blind eye to such iniquity. Within the written pieces Strange Fruit by Abel Meeropoland The
Flowers by Alice Walker, this situation is approached in different styles through the utilization of
several literary devices. However, Strange Fruit exhibits... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is shown through a blend of sickening and tranquil imagery as well as parallel structure. For
instance, when describing the strange fruit and its setting, the narrator describes [A] Pastoral scene
of the gallant South, The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth (5 6). The two scenes presented to
the reader are immensely contrasting, to the point that it is unsettling. However, the sentence s
structure makes it seem as if such atrocities are an element of what makes the South so gallant
and peaceful, further hinting at the South s acceptance of prejudice as part of its culture. In
continuation with the description of the fruit, the author describes it as being for the crows to
pluck, for the rain to gather, for the wind to suck, for the sun to rot, for the tree to drop (9 11). The
parallel structure of the fruit being incessantly acted upon by another force is heavily repeated
throughout the third stanza. Not only does this give the tone that this process has been occurring
long enough to the point of becoming almost somewhat of a tradition, but it also shows the fruit,
the person, being bruised over and over again until it becomes absolutely unprofitable. People may
be unwilling to help because of the benefits and pride that comes with being able to put

Essay On High Stakes Testing
The Talk About The Bitter Test Standardized high stakes testing is necessary in today s school
systems and policies within education. The fate of annual standardized testing is being considered
as Congress debates the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA),
also known as the No Child Left Behind Act (Evans, 2015). Testing in its current form may seem
detrimental to student learning, but the only thing worse than standardized testing is not having
testing at all (Evans, 2015). Standardized High stakes Testingis necessary because it serves as a
platform for guiding students and teachers, it s a great measurement tool on an individual s
performance, it helps prepare administration and it also provides a level playing field.
First, standardized high stakes testing serves as a platform for guiding students and teachers.
Students and teachers needs high stakes testing because the test allows them to know what material
is important to teach and learn. High Stakes testing helps inform decisions about the curriculum and
instruction (Nichols and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Standardized high stakes testing could be dangerous due to multiple corruptions within the
education administrations in the school systems (Nichols and Berliner, 2007, pg.6). First,
standardized high stakes testing shows a correlation between increased drop out rates (Amrein and
Berliner, 2002, pg.2). Another warning about the dangerous side effects of standardized high
stakes testing surfaced when a plan a pay teachers on the basis of their students scores was
offered, making student test scores very high stakes testing. (Roderick and Bryk, 2007, pg.11).
Lastly, standardized high stakes testing encourages teachers to watch the examiners foibles and to
note his idiosyncrasies to prepare for questions that were more likely to appear on the testing which
can lead to failure within the classroom (Wall, 2000,

Strong Feelings in Macbeth and the Old Nurse s Story Essay
By examining The Old Nurse s Story and Macbeth , in detail, compare and contrast how Elizabeth
Gaskell and Shakespeare explore strong feelings in these two texts.
Macbeth was most likely written before the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 during the Jacobean era and
it is thought that Shakespeare wrote the play in order to compliment the current King, James I.
Shakespeare adapted his source material from Holinshed s Chronicles ; and one way he did this
was by giving the audience full access to Macbeth s tortured mind, so they could witness Macbeth
s most powerful emotions. The play also reflects a widespread fascination with witchcraft and
Shakespeare exploits this interest for dramatic effect. In 1597, James I published his own book ...

Whilst Hester is exploring the mystifying house, she discovers a portrait of the young Miss.
Grace (later Miss. Furnivall). She was a beauty with a proud, set look, and such scorn looking
out of her handsome eyes as well as eyebrows that were just a little raised and a curled lip. Miss.
Grace is wearing posh clothes in the portrait, which shows that she is upper class, but even this
artificial beauty doesn t mask her malevolence. This shows that appearances are deceptive, but a
person s true colours are always revealed, no matter how hard they try to hide them.
The impression that we are given in the opening scene of Macbeth is that the actions of only a
few people will deal with the fate of the whole kingdom. This is hinted at when the witches speak
of a battle being lost and won , as the word battle usually refers to a conflict on a large scale, which
suggests that numerous people in the kingdom could be affected. This battle could tie in to the
strong feelings of guilt, ambition and determination on many levels. The battle could be a spiritual
one between the good (the Thanes) and the evil (the supernatural), or a mental battle in Macbeth s
conscience; all of which could cause the characters to explore their innermost thoughts. Both of
these openings anticipate the release of strong emotions from the protagonists, which are caused by

Cultural Differences In Tayo s Ceremony
One of the main civic and moral lessons that is displayed throughout Edgar Huntly is the
mistreatment of the Native American culture by the hands of the white, privileged and superior
culture. This is something that is seen through the eyes of Edgar throughout the second half of the
novel, where he believes that the Native Americans are savages with no rules or responsibilities
who mindlessly killed those that he loved for fun, with no rational decision making abilities. The
irony that is found within this, is the fact that the savage, irrational killer turns out to be Edgar
himself, who convinces himself that he killed those Natives out of self defense in order to protect
himself from those who have no rational abilities to protect themselves.... Show more content on

Tayo struggles in defending his cultural identity because of his white and Native American
cultural background. The moral lesson that both novels struggle in properly addressing is the
ability to accept different cultures regardless of their background and accepting individuals
regardless. Edgar is judgemental based on the Native Americans lifestyles, not only because of
his own prejudices but also his own in regards to the message that has been established based on
his culture. This is not the same case for Tayo in Ceremony but the lack of cultural appreciation
and understanding of cultural differences is a problem that is addressed. The civic lessons that
are addressed involves personal responsibilities in serving justice and facing an entire
community independently instead of as a whole and a team. Edgar takes it upon himself to find
Waldegraves murderer, regardless of the fact that it is not his responsibility. He believes it is his
civic duty in order to bring forth justice. This civic responsibility is addressed in Ceremony, when
Tayo is forced into WWII, he is forced to bring justice to his country as apart of a team instead of a
sole individual against an entire

Difference Between AAOIFRS And IFRS
Comparison Between AAOIFI IFRS
Under the economic globalization and the rapid development of Islamic finance in recent years, the
business activities with Islamic countries became a worldwide focus. However, it is notable that the
conventional accounting system would face a challenge with the compliance of Shariah. Therefore,
the Islamic accounting standards AAOIFI were developed due to of the existing problem with the
adoption of the convention accounting standards (IFRS). In this chapter, to illustrate the difference
among IFRS and AAOIFI, the general description of these two accounting standards will be
presented, followed by the distinguishing between the adoption as well as the comparison of some

Besides, the company can issue shares, and hand out the dividends, or issue bonds and pay the
interest; moreover, taking a loan from the bank with interest is an alternative. However, in Islamic
accounting, the interest is not allowed, which prevent the company from raising the fund through
last two options. Thus, the Mudaraba is widely applied in Islamic economies. Mudaraba is a kind of
partnership which one party provides money to a commercial enterprise, and the funds are managed
by a third party based on Mudaraba investment management agreement. For example, the depositor
can authorize the Islamic bank to manage their funds, and get profit from the return on the funds
invested.
For the Mudaraba investment found, AAOIFI standards require presenting the funds in a separate
item between liabilities and equity in the statement of financial position. On the contrary, compliant
with IFRS, the fund will be recorded as liability.

Morality and Character of King Henry V Essay examples
Morality of King Henry V Throughout the five act in the play King Henry the V, King Henry
shows his morality and character through many actions and decisions. King Henry is the most
significant characte1r in the play and is known as the protagonist or hero. Henry uses his
intelligence and leadership qualities through out the acts and also displays a sense of maturity
from his youth days. We are told in the beginning of the play that King Henry used to be very
immature, crazy, and not determined as a teenage boy. King Henry is now developed into a
successful and hard working king with lots of charisma. Henry has many tough decisions ahead

As we read in the play, King Henry has many speeches that were made to determine his English
soldiers. For example, Henry refers to his soldiers as more closely impacted names like brother
and friend. Henry speaks very sophisticated and pumps up his men to be just as eager to fight as
he was. Most of Henry s speeches were uplifting and had a very happy and fierce tone to them, so
not only he would display seriousness and also uplifting attitudes. Henry s speeches work magic
on his soldiers and is a type of manipulation to work with the King to get what he wants. Even
though manipulation is usually a harsh term, it is needed when it comes to fighting in a war!
King Henry used his words very intelligently to push on the soldiers to fight for their mighty
King Henry. One of the last qualities about King Henry that supports his morality was his
intelligence. Through out the play King Henry had many big decisions whether it be to go to
war, who to bring, when to go, and all these other conflicts. I believe that Henry used his
intelligence in many positive ways. When King Henry was about to bring his troops in to fight
France, he borrowed a cloak and dressed up as a soldier. I thought this was a very intelligent thing
to do because he talked to the soldiers to find out what they were thinking and what was going
through their mind. This was a very smart strategy because normally the soldiers wouldn t speak to
the king like they would to each other. Instead of the lies and

The World s Greatest Success Story
Samsung is perhaps the world s greatest success story. Started in 1938 in Taegu, Korea by Lee
Byung Chul, Samsung has sprouted from a small company under Japanese rule, into the one of the
world s leaders in technology and innovation. It is a result of the Confucian principles embraced by
the company and its presidents and executive decisions and eagerness to adapt to the rapidly
changing world. Principles including leading honorably and with strength, emphasising the ruler
subject relationship, Chun tzu, making personal relationships a priority in a business setting, in
addition to keeping accordance with Jen,a warm heartedness and compassion that allows to one to
want to better humanity (Lander). In addition to Confucianism, Samsung has learned to innovate,
create demand, and learn from other companies successes and failures. With this combination of
old world Confucian principles and the ability to diversify and evolve, Samsung has experienced
intense growth and success, beating out Apple and Panasonic and gaining a foothold in the digital
age(Park and Barjot). According to Park and Barjot, Samsung s success came from two areas:
Confucian ethics instilled into Samsung s workforce and strong executive leadership, specifically
LeeByung Chul and to a lesser degree Kun Hee Lee. Lee Byung Chul, the founder of Samsung,
came from an upper class family of landlord and due to this, Lee was able to receive a strong

My awakening to the wonder of business world began in the summer of 2014, when I was

History And Development Of Law Enforcement
Written Assignment #1 In this essay I will be writing about subjects about law enforcement. The
first is the history and development of law enforcement, the hiring of, training of, and career
paths of law enforcement officers, and last the various styles and primary operational strategies of
today s law enforcement agencies. The history of criminal justice system has come a long way
from 1653 to where we are now in present day. America was built on the idea that government will
not be centralized. That is why the Constitution developed a government divided into three
branches. Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. The purpose for a government divided into three
branches is to limit the power of the government. The same idea is what created the criminal justice
system in which we have in today s time. The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 limit the power of local
law enforcement, and restricts the government from using military personal to inforce laws on US
soil. Furthermore, another authority that limits the power of law enforcement, but also empowers,
is jurisdiction. Jurisdiction is what give our policeofficers the right to inforce laws. Each law
enforcement agency has its own jurisdiction they must follow. Political jurisdiction has three major
divisions: Federal, state, and local. Each political jurisdiction division operate within their own

Tragedy is an imitation, not of men, but of an action and of life, and life consists in action, and its
end is a mode of action, not a quality (Butcher). Aristotle says that tragedy has more to do with the
action of the plot than the characters themselves. Tragedy is best defined as a drama that
includes a clear plot line and a protagonist who has a character flaw that leads to his or her
downfall. Character flaws occur in many ways, for some it is excessive pride, for others it is just
the need to be kind to others and disregarding a person s own health. The major difference between
a tragedy and a comedy is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tragic hero, consequently, should be a man better than ourselves, but not perfect; and he
should suffer from a flaw which shows itself in some mistaken judgement or act resulting in his
downfall (Poetics Packet). While it may not seem like a flaw, Coffey s character flaw is that he
has some sort of supernatural healing power which, in a way, got him into the death row area of
prison to begin with. Coffey performs an act where he touches ill people and for whatever
reason, the person is cured, and Coffey coughs up insects that represent the negative things
leaving a person s body as the individual heals. As the movie wraps up, Paul and various other
guards are aware of John s innocence, yet there is no evidence so he will have to be put to death
regardless. Throughout the movie, men are put to death and the audience can see just how
gruesome that is, yet people often feel little remorse or pity for the first several executions in the
movie. The thing that is so emotional about John Coffey s execution is that the viewers are aware
he is being put to death even though he is innocent. Virtually no one feels the urge to execute an
innocent man, but many feel the urge to execute someone who is guilty (Dow). That is a highly
accurate statement, the majority of people have no issue killing a guilty person, but the real
tearjerker is being

The Scarlet Letter, By Nathanial Hawthorne
Envisage living in a community where one could only be intimate with their husband. Sounds
insane, right? Though being sexually active with more than one partner in a lifetime is moderately
common in today s society, it was severely looked down upon in the 1800s. In The Scarlet Letter,
Nathanial Hawthorne communicates the story of Hester Prynne, an adulteress. Hester Prynne lived
in a Puritan Society in which women were held to high, difficult, and unjust standards by men.
Evidently, she undergoes unusual punishments for her infidelities against her estranged husband.
She forcibly wears an embroidered, scarlet letter A on her breast for the remainder of her life.
Though physically benign, its call of attention to Hester s transgression is emotionally straining. As
a man or woman, adultery must always be perceived as improper and unlawful. However, the author
exhibits transcendentalist values when one can conclude that Hawthorne s words were not
demeaning Hester, but more so commending her. His execution of rhetorical devices applauds
Hester s individuality in a conforming society. Through the author s implementation of diction to
illuminate Hester and debase the rest of society, manipulation of symbolism to compliment Hester s
individuality, and application of irony to manifest Hester s gained dignity from rebelling,
Hawthorne illustrates Hester s journey in a culture against change as one of dauntlessness, and
conveys his purpose that individuality is precious.

Eye Of The Beholder Analysis
Thesis (talks about similarities, differences, and themes) In The Birthmark and Eye of the
Beholder , two writers provide opinions on beauty and perfection. While the messages, provided by
the literary devices, are similar, the end results are very different. Hawthorn uses metaphors,
allusions, and symbolism to show that rejecting imperfection in life to obtain true beauty will lead
to death either identically, physically or both; while the Twilight Zone episode uses repetition,
idioms, and metaphors to show that the individual should appreciate their own beauty and not rely
on society s standards to tell them what is perfect. Subject 1 The Birthmark: Nothing is perfect as

Smith tells Miss Tyler to say this to herself over and over again. This not only helps to build
Miss Tyler s self esteem as her society forces her to be segregated to a ghetto but also undermines
the teaching of that society. Her government believes in conformity and lack of individualism,
this idiom encourages people to look at the world from their own perspective and not the one
laid out by the government. Beauty is a social construct as true beauty weather mentally, as the
piece suggests, or physically is based on the perception of the observer. This is idea is reinforced
when we learn that Miss Tyler is actually beautiful by the audience s standards but is deemed
ugly by the show s standards. While we may see her as perfection the world which she lives in
sees her as a grotesque mistake created by nature. While society and science try to correct this
mistake, like that in The Birthmark, it also fails to obtain true perfection. This leads the reader to
believe that true beauty is not when the world accepts a person as beautiful but when a person

Causes Of Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an idiopathic, chronic inflammatory process. Individuals with
this condition often experience periods of symptomatic relapse and remission. (Lehmann et al.,

IBD encompasses two disorders: Crohn disease (CD) and Ulcerative colitis (UC). Ulcerative colitis
is an ulcerating inflammation of the mucosal layer largely restricted to the colon. Crohn disease is a
deep transmural inflammation that generally occurs in the terminal ileum but can occur anywhere
from the mouth to the anus (Davies and Abreu., 2015). CD can affect any part of the GI tract but
has a particular tendency to affect the terminal ileum. In CD, the involved bowel is normally
narrowed and thickened. Deep ulcers and fissures in the mucosa

Our Experiment to Separate a Mixture of Organic Compounds...
Purpose/Introduction
What were we trying to accomplish with this experiment? What method did we implement to
accomplish the task? What techniques were used to purify and identify the product(s) of the
reaction? In this experiment, an acid base extraction was done to separate a mixture of an unknown
acid and fluorene, a neutral compound. The possible unknown acids were 2 chlorobenzoic acid, 3
chlorobenzoic acid, and 3 methylbenzoic acid. The purification of the isolated unknown acid was
performed by recrystallization and its identity was established by analyzing the melting point range
of the pure product and comparing it to the provided standards. In addition, a mixed melting point
experimentation enhanced the fidelity of the unknown s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Initially, the organic carboxylic acid becomes a charged species after it is deprotonated by a base
like sodium hydroxide, producing a carboxylic salt. After completing the extraction, an acid, such
as hydrochloric acid, is added to the basic aqueous solution causing the sodium carboxylate salt to
change back to the default carboxylic acid, which will precipitate out of solution since it is water
insoluble. Recrystallization is a technique when a solute is dissolved in a hot solvent (destruction of
the impure crystal lattice) and is then precipitated out of solution as the solvent is immediately
cooled (selectively producing a purer lattice). The unknown acid was recrystallized using hot water
followed by hot ethanol in order to dissolve the solid, followed by cooling which resulted in the
precipitation of the desired product. Afterward, melting point experimentation was used to match
the melting point data of the unknown acid with the provided standards of the known acids. If
there is a melting point depression, one has acted as an impurity to the other compound. In contrast,
if there is no noticeable decrease in melting point relative to the two separate compounds; it is safe
to say that they are the same substance.

Problems Faced By Globalization And Technological Advances
Globalisation and technological advances are pushing the managers to solve problems relating
to the functionality of the organisation. Owing to the several different and uncertain
consequences associated with the possible problem solving actions, it is critical for the manager
to choose an effective methodology, whilst considering the structure and dynamics of the
organisation (Fischer, Greiff, and Funke, 2012). From a managerial point of view, taking a
decision to solve problems is not an easy task. The problem solving process in organisations is
often led by uncertainty and vagueness, combined with the managers difficulties in developing
an appropriate problem definition, inadequate method selection or application, lack of
knowledge, or various other internal and external factors (Szarucki, 2013). With the fast paced
work culture, managers tend to ignore minor problems which might later have a serious adverse
effect on the organisation. Based on the suggestions made by Nickerson, Yen, and Mahoney
(2011) for effective problem solving, the first step I would take towards solving an
organisational problem, is to accept the fact that the problem exists. My next target would be
adopting an effective methodology to go about the problem solving process. Current research in
the problem solving techniques points towards a 4 step process, as being effective. Based on the
research carried out by Szarucki (2013) and Hunsaker and Alessandra (2008), I would adopt this 4
phase process,

William Bradford Vs John Smith Essay

The Tragedy Hecuba Which Was Written By Euripides Essay
Kathleen:
Our play was the tragedy Hecuba which was written by Euripides in 424 BC, 7 years after the
beginning of the Peloponnesian and Archidamian War which was fought between Athens and
Sparta. Euripides was an Athenian who was born around 485BC on the island of Salamis which is
off the coast of Piraeus. He competed several times in Athens annual City Dionysia, which, as we
know, was a dramatic festival held in honour of Dionysus. This means that the majority of his
audience would have been Athenians, like himself.
So, just a quick introduction to the play. The key characters are HECUBAwho was the Queen of
Troy and wife of the Trojan King Priam, THE GHOST OF POLYDORUS who was the son of
Hecuba and Priam, POLYXENA who was their daughter, POLYMESTOR who was the King of the
Thrace and was also married to Priam s eldest daughter, ODYSSEUS, who as we know was a
Greek Homeric hero and AGAMEMNON who was the Greek leader.
The story takes place just after the Trojan Warwhile the Greeks are heading home. It begins with
the GHOST OF POLYDORUS telling a story of how he was murdered by POLYMESTOR for
treasure and his body was thrown into the sea. On their way home, the Greeks with their Trojan
prisoners, including HECUBA and POLYXENA, anchor in the same place and must sacrifice
Polyxena in order to placate the spirit of Achilles. After her daughter is sacrificed, Hecuba learns of
POLYDORUS death, driving her to madness. She knew that POLYMESTOR was the guilty party

The Jungle By Robert Sinclair
The Jungle is book that takes the reader in a period in time where the American Dream was the
only thing worth believing in the daily job struggles of immigrants in America during the early

hard in this country and work an honest day is capable living and could support his family and
have an equal opportunity to success. Although The Jungle was taken account more on how the
meat production was disgusting and unhealthy for production and consumption. However many
missed the real message of this book in which Sinclair wants to engage the reader in particular
scenario of the failure of capitalism. According to Sinclair, socialismis the only way out of the
failure of capitalism. It is the way that all problems can be solved and works for the benefit of
everyone where capitalism works against the people. The slow destruction of Jurgis s family at the
hands of a cruel and unfair economic and social system demonstrates the effect of capitalism on the
working class. As the immigrants, who believe an idealistic faith in the American Dream of hard
work leading to material success, are slowly used up, tortured, and destroyed.

conflicts are important. However, she questioned Freud s emphasis on sexual conflict. (p. 104).

the Detachment: Moving away from Others adjustment. This type of adjustment helps reduce the

Essay On The False Truth In Othello
Othello in a Cave
The cave of Othello is only a tiny part of the puzzle of what the whole story holds for you to
understand. The play, Othello, was written in 1603 by a writer named William Shakespeare who
persuades the idea that everyone is stuck in their own belief of the truth. This performance is a
tragedy about a moor who has been tricked by his own ancient who leads him to his downfall.
This story connects to Plato s The Allegory of the Cave, where people are chained up and only
capable of seeing what is in front of them which is the false truth. In the story, Shakespeare
manipulates characters to see a false truth, create scenes that have characters question each other,
and how stereotypes shape your concept of the false truth.
From beginning to end Iago moves the characters of Othello as if they were chessmen. He plays
with their emotions until he gets what he wants. Such as the time when Iago manipulates Cassio
to drink, It hath pleased the devil drunkenness to give place to the devil wrath. One unperfectness
shows me another, to make me frankly despise myself.(Shakespeare II.iii.232) Cassio knew that
he would do badly if he got drunk, with Iago s creative word play and persuasiveness, he
convinced Cassio to get drunk. This would lead to Cassio losing his reputation, reputation,
reputation. The truth is being manipulated because he Iago does not tell the full truth when
speaking to leader Othello. There was no talk about Cassio being drunk. Plato s Allegory

Iwo Jima Battle Analysis
The purpose of this paper is to conduct a battle analysis of the Battle of Iwo Jima and present as
alternate outcome of events based upon employment or misuse of military resources. If Japan
was not a victim of its own success, they could have won the battle of Iwo Jima. By the time
America had sought to invade Iwo Jima and use it as a key operational location for attacks on the
Japanese mainland, Japan had already gained significant ground in Southwest Asia and the Pacific.
Japan s forces were over worked and too spread out throughout the region to be able to back up the
forces bogged down in the underground caves and tunnels of Iwo Jima. For this reason America
would win a tough fight on this strategically important island.

mainland at that time and the U.S. Army private on duty ignored the large plane formation on
his radar screen. The entire attack lasted just two hours, but it wreaked havoc on the U.S. Navy s
Pacific Fleet. The anchored ships line up perfectly in a row made for easy targets for the Japanese
bombers. Also, the Japanese chose to attack on Sunday morning knowing that the base would not
be fully manned. Many of the aircraft of the Naval Air Station and the adjoining Airfields were
perfectly lined up together to guard against sabotage and also made perfect targets for Japanese
fighter planes to destroy (Gailey,

Taxiation Essay
TAXATION
Taxation
Taxation What extent of government regulation allows the citizens of the country the maximum
amount of liberty? How much should the government intervene to protect the consumer? These are
questions that every society must answer when developing their economic system. And for each
question there are multiple answers. Some believe that little to no regulation is necessary, that the
market place has natural laws of its own. Others disagree, saying that it is the government s duty to
protect the individual from the evils of the free market. Both solutions have definite attributes. The
government intervenes the market to correct serious market failures. A market is defined as an
organization that allows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tax will affect the demand for cigarettes. It has been shown through several empirical studies
that imposition of taxes leads to a decrease in smoking. Those states that have imposed taxes
have witnessed lower levels of smoking and those states that have not imposed steep taxes have
witnessed lower levels of reduction in smoking. As smoking becomes more expensive, the
number of cigarettes smoked falls. There is no direct effect on the supply, however, when the
demand for cigarettes fall the supply will be reduced. Several factors of production that are
employed in producing cigarettes will be unemployed. Employees will have to leave for other
industries. Land and buildings that are involved in cigarette production and distribution will be
reduced. For instance, the New York offices of Altria are being closed down and about 400
workers will be laid off. The increase in taxes will affect the equilibrium price and quantity. The
price of cigarettes will go up initially by $1 if a tax of $1 is imposed. However, in reaction to the
additional taxation and reduction in demand, cigarette companies will come up with some brands
of cigarettes that cost less, the net effect on price will be that the final prices of the cigarettes will
increase, but if low price introductions are taken into account the price increase will be lower than
$1. In case of quantity, there will be a

Compare And Contrast The Hobbit Book And Movie
Compare and Contrast Informational Paper I read the novel, The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien,
afterwards I watched the movie, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The Hobbit is about a
hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, who is whisked off into an adventure. The adventure is about taking back
treasure from the dragon Smaugfor the a group of dwarves. Along the way, he gets a magic ring
from a creature called Gollum. The Hobbitand its movie are similar and different from each other
in a variety of ways. The elements and ideas of the book are similar to the movie by in the book
and movie Bilbo is reluctant about adventuring, but gains confidence over the adventure, and the
start of the adventure being similar. First, Bilbo starts out reluctant, but gains confidence and
courage over time when told of the adventure in the book and movie. In the book on page 27, Don t
be a fool, Bilbo Baggins! he said to himself, thinking of dragons and all that outlandish nonsense
at your age! The examples display Bilbo being reluctant to go on the adventure, but then
developing courage and confidence by doing more daunting and dangerous tasks which is
shown in both the book and movie. Second, the start of the adventure are both similar in the
book and movie. In the book in chapter 1, Gandalf comes to Bilbo s house to leave the mark on
his door, and all of the dwarves come for An Unexpected Party where they eventually tell Bilbo
that he will be the burglar for the adventure. At the beginning of the movie, Gandalf also comes to
Bilbo s house to chat, leave... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I personally liked the book The Hobbit better than the movie. I liked the book better because it
provided a more vivid experience, provided more story, and gave us more of Bilbo s perspective
because we could know what he was thinking. Finally, The Hobbit and its movie are similar and
different from each other in a variety of ways such as the start of the adventure, the way Bilbo
changed, how backstory is told, and character

Reverse Mortgage Case
I think I got the idea from some news, that the reverse mortgage loans market in USA has grown a
lot and will also grow in the future. The reason is, that seniors want to live as comfortably as they
did during the years, when they had better incomes.
Another idea was, that the mortgage niche is a high paying AdSense niche. So I had two reasons to
try to make money from home.
1. The Market Is Growing And Waited For My Business Plan.
I have never tried to market something, which I do not understand. The reverse mortgage market, I
mean the need among the target group, was clear to me from the very beginning. It represented a
chance to make money from home, at least to try my best.
The Need.
It is simple. Seniors, who are age 62 or over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The homes can be fully paid or the debt is minimal.
The Online Market.
It was quite easy to judge the online need just by doing the keyword research. It showed that
seniors are seeking information about these products actively and this means, that doing an
effective SEM, I would have a chance to draw enough visitors into my blog and to make money
from home with AdSense and the affiliate links.
2. The Launch Of A New Niche Blog Needed Many Mediums.
I saw the content of my blog as the most important success factor in the new niche. Fortunately my
niche is narrow enough, which helps to keep the content related.
I also hope, that the niche is not too narrow and that there is money in it. The keyword research
showed, that there will be.
When launching a new blog in the net, there are two challengies. First, to write enough useful
content and then to get enough related blog visitors to be able to make money from home.
The first thing was to start posting. At the same time I submitted the blog into the main search
engines plus to some over 100 others. The blog is now two weeks old, and it is not yet

  • 2. The Proponents Of Firearms ( 428 ) and looks to articulate Pelosi s position to oppose the proponents of firearms (428). Furthermore, Wood s article provides information offered by Gun Free Schools that states reasons for not owning guns in school. The first counterargument that Wood responds to is that concealed handguns would detract from a healthy learning environment (428). The Colorado legislature passed a law allowing lawful residents, who possess a concealed and carry permit, the ability to possess a firearmon Colorado State campuses. To date this has not deterred nor diminished anyone s ability to learn. While this is an effort to poison the well, it is an ineffective argument and fallacious in nature. Next, Woods claims that Gun Free Schools make the statement that more guns on campus would create additional risk for students (428). While this may be true, to a minor extent, the benefit of protecting children certainly outweighs the additional risk. Additionally, with proper training and the advent of new technologies that prevent an unauthorized individual from firing the weapon, this because a moot point. The third argument Wood addresses is that shooters will not be deterred by concealed carry permit holders (428). The point is not to deter an attacker with a firearm, the point is to minimize the amount of damage an individual can perpetrate against an unarmed individual. History has already been shown that these individuals wishing to harm children do not think from a rational position. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Advantage And Disadvantages Of Being An Instrument Being stubborn has its advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that it leads to being dedicated for everything you start. In middle school, specifically in fifth grade, band class and being able to learn an instrument is first introduced to students. Many people sign up, trying out instruments until they find one they enjoy. I, along with a handful of other people in my grade, joined a year late. Not only was I a year late, but I also missed sign ups again, and joined a few months into my sixth grade year. My first choice was percussion, but because I was so late, I was not able to join the percussion if i wanted to reach up to the level my classmates were at. Everyone started laughing. We had never even heard of this. While it seemed everyone else just had brushed it off after having their laughs, I was intrigued. It amazed me that there was more than just the basic 7 instruments we had first heard of. So, reluctantly, I raised my hand. I was expecting her to be excited that someone had offered. Instead, she looked at me with worry in her eyes and said, Are you sure? You might want to keep working with the clarinet. I didn t let that change my mind. I nodded my head and she said, Okay, I ll bring it in tomorrow. That night, I went home and researched everything I needed to know. From how to care for the reed, how to clean it properly, and how to play it. I was ready. I was excited to tell my parents. When I told them, they had almost the same reaction as my band director. They told me I should focus on the instrument I had now. I told them I wanted to learn a different instrument and that I was dedicated on playing it in the concert. • 4. Pros And Cons Of Xenotransplantation Xenotransplantation is defined as The use of live nonhuman animal cells, tissues and organs in human patients. (Fix, Megan. Fact Sheet on Xenotransplantation). There are pros and cons to Xenotransplantation. Xenoplantation aims to increase organ availability, it has the potential to open up new areas of research, and could end transplant list. The cons include high rejection rate, moral/ethical issues, and transfer of diseases from animals to humans. After learning about the pros and cons of Xenoplantation I believe that I am against it due to the ethical issues I have learned. The pros of Xenoplantation include that xenotransplantation aims to increase organ availability, it has the potential to open up new areas of research, and could end transplant list. The first pro states that xenotransplantation aims to increase organ availability. In the Harvard University article I read called Xenotransplantation: Can pigs save human lives? states that Xenoplantation can increase organ availability by using pig organs as donors. Pigs organs are very similar to humans and they would be readily available if needed. Second pro would be that is could open up new areas of research. This is could definitely be beneficial because this would open new research about treating illnesses meaning that different animals have individual ways of fighting infections and through xenoplantation humans might be able to cure deadly diseases. Third pro is it could end the transplant list. If xenoplantation has a positive outcome when transferring pig organs to humans the availability of pig organs is much higher than human organs. This would help decrease the organ transplant list and cut waiting time for patients. Those are the pros and here are the cons. The cons of xenoplantation are high rejection rate, moral/ethical issues, and transfer of diseases from animals to humans. High rejection rate is a big con because we already have issues with human to human organs getting rejected. The human body rejects the organ from a recipient s because of a protein called Human leukocyte antigen. Second Con would be the ethical issues that come with xenotransplantation. The first moral issue would be with the animals, is it right to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is evident that this fact has been present throughout humanity s history since the beginning of time. After thousands of years, it should be exceedingly obvious of what is causing the great divide between human beings. For instance, when describing the strange fruit and its setting, the narrator describes [A] Pastoral scene of the gallant South, The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth (5 6). The two scenes presented to the reader are immensely contrasting, to the point that it is unsettling. However, the sentence s structure makes it seem as if such atrocities are an element of what makes the South so gallant and peaceful, further hinting at the South s acceptance of prejudice as part of its culture. In continuation with the description of the fruit, the author describes it as being for the crows to pluck, for the rain to gather, for the wind to suck, for the sun to rot, for the tree to drop (9 11). The parallel structure of the fruit being incessantly acted upon by another force is heavily repeated throughout the third stanza. Not only does this give the tone that this process has been occurring long enough to the point of becoming almost somewhat of a tradition, but it also shows the fruit, the person, being bruised over and over again until it becomes absolutely unprofitable. The fate of annual standardized testing is being considered as Congress debates the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), also known as the No Child Left Behind Act (Evans, 2015). Testing in its current form may seem detrimental to student learning, but the only thing worse than standardized testing is not having testing at all (Evans, 2015). Strong Feelings in Macbeth and the Old Nurse s Story Essay By examining The Old Nurse s Story and Macbeth , in detail, compare and contrast how Elizabeth Gaskell and Shakespeare explore strong feelings in these two texts. Macbeth was most likely written before the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 during the Jacobean era and it is thought that Shakespeare wrote the play in order to compliment the current King, James I. Shakespeare adapted his source material from Holinshed s Chronicles ; and one way he did this was by giving the audience full access to Macbeth s tortured mind, so they could witness Macbeth s most powerful emotions. The play also reflects a widespread fascination with witchcraft and Shakespeare exploits this interest for dramatic effect. In 1597, James I published his own book ... The impression that we are given in the opening scene of Macbeth is that the actions of only a few people will deal with the fate of the whole kingdom. This is hinted at when the witches speak of a battle being lost and won , as the word battle usually refers to a conflict on a large scale, which suggests that numerous people in the kingdom could be affected. This battle could tie in to the strong feelings of guilt, ambition and determination on many levels. The battle could be a spiritual one between the good (the Thanes) and the evil (the supernatural), or a mental battle in Macbeth s conscience; all of which could cause the characters to explore their innermost thoughts. Cultural Differences In Tayo s Ceremony One of the main civic and moral lessons that is displayed throughout Edgar Huntly is the mistreatment of the Native American culture by the hands of the white, privileged and superior culture. This is something that is seen through the eyes of Edgar throughout the second half of the novel, where he believes that the Native Americans are savages with no rules or responsibilities who mindlessly killed those that he loved for fun, with no rational decision making abilities. The history of criminal justice system has come a long way from 1653 to where we are now in present day. America was built on the idea that government will not be centralized. That is why the Constitution developed a government divided into three branches. Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. The purpose for a government divided into three branches is to limit the power of the government. The same idea is what created the criminal justice system in which we have in today s time. (A critique of Stephen King s inspired movie The Green Mile as it relates to Aristotle s Poetics) Tragedy is an imitation, not of men, but of an action and of life, and life consists in action, and its end is a mode of action, not a quality (Butcher). Aristotle says that tragedy has more to do with the action of the plot than the characters themselves. Tragedy is best defined as a drama that includes a clear plot line and a protagonist who has a character flaw that leads to his or her downfall. Coffey performs an act where he touches ill people and for whatever reason, the person is cured, and Coffey coughs up insects that represent the negative things leaving a person s body as the individual heals. As the movie wraps up, Paul and various other guards are aware of John s innocence, yet there is no evidence so he will have to be put to death regardless. Throughout the movie, men are put to death and the audience can see just how gruesome that is, yet people often feel little remorse or pity for the first several executions in the movie. • 22. The Scarlet Letter, By Nathanial Hawthorne Envisage living in a community where one could only be intimate with their husband. Sounds insane, right? Though being sexually active with more than one partner in a lifetime is moderately common in today s society, it was severely looked down upon in the 1800s. In The Scarlet Letter, Nathanial Hawthorne communicates the story of Hester Prynne, an adulteress. Hester Prynne lived in a Puritan Society in which women were held to high, difficult, and unjust standards by men. Evidently, she undergoes unusual punishments for her infidelities against her estranged husband. She forcibly wears an embroidered, scarlet letter A on her breast for the remainder of her life. Though physically benign, its call of attention to Hester s transgression is emotionally straining. As a man or woman, adultery must always be perceived as improper and unlawful. However, the author exhibits transcendentalist values when one can conclude that Hawthorne s words were not demeaning Hester, but more so commending her. His execution of rhetorical devices applauds Hester s individuality in a conforming society. Through the author s implementation of diction to illuminate Hester and debase the rest of society, manipulation of symbolism to compliment Hester s individuality, and application of irony to manifest Hester s gained dignity from rebelling, Hawthorne illustrates Hester s journey in a culture against change as one of dauntlessness, and conveys his purpose that individuality is precious. While the messages, provided by the literary devices, are similar, the end results are very different. Hawthorn uses metaphors, allusions, and symbolism to show that rejecting imperfection in life to obtain true beauty will lead to death either identically, physically or both; while the Twilight Zone episode uses repetition, idioms, and metaphors to show that the individual should appreciate their own beauty and not rely on society s standards to tell them what is perfect. Smith tells Miss Tyler to say this to herself over and over again. This not only helps to build Miss Tyler s self esteem as her society forces her to be segregated to a ghetto but also undermines the teaching of that society. Her government believes in conformity and lack of individualism, this idiom encourages people to look at the world from their own perspective and not the one laid out by the government. Beauty is a social construct as true beauty weather mentally, as the piece suggests, or physically is based on the perception of the observer. This is idea is reinforced when we learn that Miss Tyler is actually beautiful by the audience s standards but is deemed ugly by the show s standards. While we may see her as perfection the world which she lives in sees her as a grotesque mistake created by nature. After completing the extraction, an acid, such as hydrochloric acid, is added to the basic aqueous solution causing the sodium carboxylate salt to change back to the default carboxylic acid, which will precipitate out of solution since it is water insoluble. Recrystallization is a technique when a solute is dissolved in a hot solvent (destruction of the impure crystal lattice) and is then precipitated out of solution as the solvent is immediately cooled (selectively producing a purer lattice). The unknown acid was recrystallized using hot water followed by hot ethanol in order to dissolve the solid, followed by cooling which resulted in the precipitation of the desired product. Problems Faced By Globalization And Technological Advances Globalisation and technological advances are pushing the managers to solve problems relating to the functionality of the organisation. Owing to the several different and uncertain consequences associated with the possible problem solving actions, it is critical for the manager to choose an effective methodology, whilst considering the structure and dynamics of the organisation (Fischer, Greiff, and Funke, 2012). From a managerial point of view, taking a decision to solve problems is not an easy task. The problem solving process in organisations is often led by uncertainty and vagueness, combined with the managers difficulties in developing an appropriate problem definition, inadequate method selection or application, lack of knowledge, or various other internal and external factors (Szarucki, 2013). With the fast paced work culture, managers tend to ignore minor problems which might later have a serious adverse effect on the organisation. Based on the suggestions made by Nickerson, Yen, and Mahoney (2011) for effective problem solving, the first step I would take towards solving an organisational problem, is to accept the fact that the problem exists. My next target would be adopting an effective methodology to go about the problem solving process. Euripides was an Athenian who was born around 485BC on the island of Salamis which is off the coast of Piraeus. He competed several times in Athens annual City Dionysia, which, as we know, was a dramatic festival held in honour of Dionysus. The story takes place just after the Trojan Warwhile the Greeks are heading home. It begins with the GHOST OF POLYDORUS telling a story of how he was murdered by POLYMESTOR for treasure and his body was thrown into the sea. On their way home, the Greeks with their Trojan prisoners, including HECUBA and POLYXENA, anchor in the same place and must sacrifice Polyxena in order to placate the spirit of Achilles.
