Clearbrook Case Study
After being able to read my Professor s comments, I realized to have a successful CFSC Plan,
there needs to be more information on the financial well being of Clearbrook. Clearbrook s
finances are not at my disposal in regards to what can be extended on and what can be utilized as
it stands. There may be a building available for Clearbrook to use as they would see fit for help
with children in the Joliet, IL. area, without further investigation I have no idea on if this is
feasible. The next area that would need more time and effort is scheduling interviews for
potential teachers, aides and volunteers, of whom all must have background checks for security
purposes for working with children with special needs. Another possibility is training individuals
the proper techniques for dealing with children who have special needs in certain areas. Not all
children who have autism are low functioning, but they may be smart enough to learn an access
code to get into a computer and cause a little chaos. I personally know of a child with autism who

Caregivers, especially parents and grandparents who are the primary caregiver, do have a rough
time getting that extra time in for a child, but with a little help from a teacher, the primary
caregiver has a better chance of enjoying fun activities with their child, especially if there is no
cost to the activities. Here is where teachers and schools can come up with low cost if not free
activates that children can enjoy with their family members. The school can only put together so
much for the community to attend with their children, if the event is enjoyable, the more families
will come to it in the future, but if it s a flop, there will need to be revisions and a meeting or two
to see what improvements can be made to meet the families in the community

Black Friday Research Paper
New York City. The city that was the symbol of America through it s history. From the Statue of
Liberty to the Empire State Building, it shows how far American got from being rebels to the
most powerful people in the world. The city also had creative and smart people within the city, to
show off the creative side of the city. No matter what happened to the city, it will still stand tall and
proud.
That wasn t until The Black Friday outbreak happened. The entire city fell to chaos, people turned
on each other, and power and supplies disappeared quickly. From Javier Cranford, this was
heartbreaking to see and hear as he had been living in New York Cityfrom his entire life with his
family until he left for the army. The city was fine before he had left, the traffic was... Show more

Winstead. Nice last name, Ghostead. Javier said in a funny manner and kept on walking as he
could hear Ghost s disgusted noise at the mashup of his code name and last name.
Another five minutes of walking got them to Grand Central Terminal as Javier and Ghost saw
how empty it was. It was odd for them to see one of the places with the most traffic be so empty.
They got up to the station as they felt a sudden chill and realized that the place lacked any power.
Javier saw the stairs and said to Ghost, Come on, let s go up the stairs and wait from the other two
to show up.
He raced up the steps as he got up to the top before Ghost, who was walking slowly up the steps.
And the upper floor, the main floor with the famous clock on it, was also abandoned. Javier
grabbed one of his flares and started the flare up as he threw it towards the clock, hitting the
metal support of it. He turned around as soon as he saw Ghost finished with the walk upward and

The Increasing Weight Of The Union
The increasing weight of the Union since its creation in 1951 has elevated the community to the
international stage as an indubitable power and encouraged the debate about the characterization of
the EU, fostered by the involvement from European political science scholars. Scholars have came
up with a sui generis definition of the EU in the sense that it neither is an intergovernmental
organization nor a federal state.4 Still, the novelty of the Union does not bound itself to the
definition of the nature of European institutional set up. Indeed, the discussion between scholars
goes further towards the characterization of the European power.
To understand Manner s theory, let us first have a look at its inspirations. The concept of civilian
power (CP) was mostly developed by F.DuchГЄne in 1973. He defined it as a civilian group long
on economic power and relatively short on armed forces .5 This concept can be said to be the
basis of Manners NPE theory. Moravcsik deepened F.DuchГЄne s definition arguing that the EU s
CP В«does not lie in the deployment of battalions or bomber, but rather in the quiet promotion of
democracy and development through trade, foreign aid and peacekeepingВ». 6 In a word, both
definitions imply that CP privileges means others than military ones in its foreign policy. As a matter
of fact, the civilian conceptualization of Europe puts the emphasis on negociacion, multilateralism,
economic instruments and diplomacy rather than privileging a

Prostate Cancer In Family
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, in both Western developed
countries and worldwide (Ferlay 2008). It is a cancer that is only limited to males, as only males
have prostate glands. The exact etiology is still unknown; however, it is thought to be a
multifactorial disease with inherited genetics playing a major role (Xu 2013). Particularly, people
with fathers and brothers with prostatecancerare at increased risk for developing it themselves.
Other male relatives have also shown a linkage, especially if the relative was diagnosed young (Al
Olama AA 2014). This report discusses how prostate canceraggregates in family, via the analyses of

and colleagues found a loci at 8q24 (Amundadottir 2006) with the strongest associated SNP as
rs1447295 with a relative risk (RR) for prostate cancer estimated at 1.72. This finding was later
corroborated with the results of the first two GWAS of prostate cancer in May 2007
(Amundadottir 2006 Gudmundsson 2007). These initial GWAS studies analyzed 550,000 SNPs
across the genome in cases and controls of European origin nested from the Cancer Genetic
Markers of Susceptibility (Gudmundsson 2007). Yeager and colleagues confirmed the prostate
cancer association with rs1447295 and identified another independent association at 8q24
(rs6983267). The estimated RRs were 1.26 and 1.58 for heterozygous and homozygous carriers,
respectively (Yeager 2007). Gudmundsson and colleagues identified another new prostate cancer
association at 8q24 (rs16901979). The estimated RR was 1.79 (Gudmundsson 2007). Two
independent loci at 17q12 and 17q24 were also found (Gudmundsson 2007). Duggan and
colleagues found one locus at 9q33 (Duggan 2007). Thomas and colleagues found four novel loci

Analysis Of Robert Frost And The Tuft Of Flowers
There once lived a fellow named Robert Frost, who was one of the greatest poets of the 20th
century. In the year 1874, Robert s life began in San Francisco. He lived there for eleven years
with his family until his father died. When that happened, Robert, his mother, and little sister all
moved to Massachusetts. There, Robert went to high school and graduated top of his class. He
went on to complete only one term at Dartmouth College, and after that, two years at Harvard
University. After leaving college, Robert worked as a farmer and later as a factory worker for a
short time. Next, he taught English at Pinkerton Academy for four years. Mr. Frost s wrote many
poems, one of which is called The Tuft of Flowers, is one of Frost s earlier works. Accordingly,
the focus this essay will be analyzing that poem and comparing it with another Robert Frost wrote.
There are two parts of this essay, analyzing the first poem using four elements of poetry: theme,
imagery, sound, and symbol, and the second part is a comparison of the first another written by
Frost, Acquainted with the Night.
In the beginning of The Tuft of Flowers, a newly mown field can be seen. The flowers and tall
grasses, which had been a haven and a joy for insects, animals, and people, were unceremoniously
assaulted by the blade of the workman. The author of the poem is observing the scene, alone; his
loneliness is evident. However, this hopelessness is as he was before he noticed the tuft of flowers.

Persuasive Essay On Save Water
Water is something no one can live without. In fact, human bodies are about sixty five percent
water. Therefore, water conservation is a project everyone should be willing to participate in.
Specifically, in the Logan, Utah area, water conservation is an important topic, as the citizens
use water every day. In an interview with The Herald Journal, USU sociology professor Douglas
Jackson Smith said the city s water concerns have the potential to increase, based on Logan s
anticipated population growth by 2050 (Peikes). There is a growing concern about the amount
of water the city will have or be able to produce for the growing population. Although it is
important that each citizen is staying hydrated and being hygienic, people do not need to use so
much water in doing so. Many people have cut back on watering their lawns, or started to take
shorter showers, but there are more options to choose from and ways to conserve water. This
problem is solvable, if only more people would participate and take steps to conserve water.
First, the citizens of Logan, Utah should act in conserving the water supply in Logan for now and
for the future. The actions they can take are simple, and come down to the basic rule stop using so
much/ wasting water . Each individual resident can take steps to conserve water within their homes.
That is usually the easy part. The hard part about conserving water is getting businesses and the city
itself to conserve water. Businesses waste a substantial

Primary symptoms experienced by individuals with disorganized schizophrenia are not similar to

have disorganized behavior, disorganized speech, and inappropriate or flat affect.

I believe that youth leadership is one of the most important aspects in our society today. Starting
leadership from a young age not only helps develop crucial leadership skills for all future jobs

leadership skills early on in life helps people find their identity, learning to listen to others and

Persuasive Essay On Crosswalks
Summary
Since moving into the neighborhood about seven months ago, there are a lot of activities for the
residents to partake in. The neighborhood has eleven playgrounds, (some which are for younger
children considered tot lots), four basketball courts, a pool, a recreational center, and mailboxes
at the end of each resident s street. Seems like a lot of places you are able to walk, right? One
thing missing in the neighborhood is crosswalks leading to each of these different places and
more. What I am proposing is to have cross walks put up throughout the neighborhood so residents
are safe when crossing the road.
Problem
A large circle is the main road for the neighborhood and has eight connecting streets leading to
where the resident s houses are located. Families each day walk around the neighborhood to
different activities such as the playgrounds, basketball courts, the pool, and other activities. The
problem is when residents have to walk to different places there are no safe places to cross the
road. Currently there are no painted crosswalks or even pedestrian crossing signs. This can cause a
major safety concern for residents and drivers. Children and teens can be affect largely by this due
to the school bus dropping them off at the entrance of the neighborhood. Also, as this being unsafe
for residents this is also an unsafe condition for others such as, the families of residents,
maintenance workers, delivery drivers, etc. However,

Persecution Against An Unchartered Jargon Essay
Persecution Against an Unchartered Jargon
The Webster Dictionary defines the word language as the system of words or signs that people
use to express thoughts and feelings to each other as well as any one of the systems of human
language that are used and understood by a particular group of people (Webster Dictionary). If
language is a tool dedicated as a communication source to understand one another, why is the way
certain people talk being neglected and marked as not an actual language? Language has evolved
into more than just words being expressed through our voices, but has converted into a weapon
used to ridicule and attack other dialects due to how different and unorthodox a particular language
may be. James Baldwin in If Black English Isn t a Language, Then Tell me, What is? argues that
Black English was a form of the African American community s own dialectof the English
language, and neglecting the language as its own contradicts the definition of the word language
itself. Bell hooks explores and points out the class differences within our society and not just
within our colleges major universities, pointing out how in which assimilation is not inevitable
and not required wherever an individual enters. Our own stories and the way we present ourselves
through our words should not be limited to a certain form; in F for Book Report, R. Zamora
Linmark endorses the linguistic power to represent ourselves anyway we like and our own

Britain was a major force in the First and Second World Wars. It s strong political and military
presence in the world was one to be envied by other countries. During the war, Britain used its
resources and resources from other countries to fight against Hitler s Nazi regime. With a lot of
aid from the United States, Hitler was defeated. It was a short lived victory for Britain and other
countries because due to the brutality of World War 2, Britain s economy was badly hurt and so
was their morale. Winston Churchill, the Prime Minister at the time, was very good at leading
Britain through the war. However, the aftermath of the war was unable to be solved by Churchill.

Christianity, which was Britain s primary religion, experienced a sharp decline with fewer
people attending church on a regular basis compared to other countries, However, Uganda also
has its own history of ethnic and religious sectarianism, of violence and conflict, and this has
produced movements of Ugandans out of their own country in search of security and a new life
(Ward). Though the Anglican Church was strong in Britain, its decline is clearly shown when
Ugandan migrants who are Anglican Christians try to find a church in Britain. However, the
churches at times fail to live up to the Ugandan s expectations of an Anglican Church. This decline
in Christianity was partly due to the social changes that were going on in Britain such as the burst
of minorities entering the country. However, many still claimed to be Christian with a lot
claiming Atheism. This is due to an increasing number of religions entering Britain after World
War 2. Though Parliament may have been used to catering to the needs of the Christian
community, due to the diverse religions in Britain, Parliament had to consider a wide variety of

INTRODUCTION David Edmondson of Yahoo and Scott Thompson of RadioShack were just
two names in the long and confounding list of prominent people who had embroidered or
falsified their rГ©sumГ©s and were felled for doing so. This list includes a former Notre Dame
Football coach, chief executive of Bausch Lomb, a director of the Federal Emergency
Management Agency and an MIT admissions director. In this reaction paper I focus on this very
issue of rГ©sumГ© falsification and analyze how such cases ought to be dealt, from an ethical

Edmondson had also falsified his rГ©sumГ© by stating that he had degrees in psychology and
theology. Star Telegram revealed that the Pacific Coast Baptist College did not even issue
degrees in psychology, and that they only issued a diplomas in theology. David Edmondson s
name was also not found in the College records. Edmondson contested that he remembered to
have completed his diploma in theology, but he could not support his claims. He eventually
stepped down as the CEO as well. ETHICAL DILEMMA Both Yahoo and RadioShack, had to
find solution to the following questions How serious of an offence was it for a CEO to have
lied on the rГ©sumГ©? Should a CEO be sacked for falsification of the rГ©sumГ© or should he
be retained in the company on the basis that his performance as a CEO has little bearing on his

the company in choosing either of these options? MODEL BASED ANALYSIS Using Mihnea

received more than six hours of sleep. Participants were broken into two groups (six or less hours
of sleep and more than six hours) and asked to identify the color of ink on a flash card. This was a

Participants. There were twenty participants involved in this study. Seven were male and thirteen
were female. Range of age of the participants was widely varied. Age was not one of the measured
variables. All participants were college students or faculty at Arapahoe Community College (ACC).
The participants were all selected at random. Participants were found while walking through out
ACC. Each participant was given the details of participating in the study; they then made the
decision to choose to participate or to decline.
Materials. In this study flash cards were used to test reaction time. White 3x5 inch note cards
were used. On each note card was written a color word (e.g. blue, black, purple). The color
words were written in a noncorresponding colored ink (e.g. word blue written in red ink, word
purple written in green ink). A stopwatch on a cell phone was used to keep time of twenty
seconds. A flowchart was created to keep order of how many cards were completed correctly and
incorrectly. There were thirty seven flash cards made for this experiment which were kept in the
same order throughout the study. On the flowchart, the column furthest to the left contained al the
colors of the ink on each card in order. There were twenty additional columns to the right, one for
each participant.

Professional football coach, Tony Dungy, is a man of honor and strength throughout his book

someone who has devoted themselves to God. Tony s siblings are doctors and dentists, due to the
nature of their work, Tony is humble since football is just that, football, while his siblings are

The Theme Of Rebellion In George Orwell s 1984
Rebellions happened all throughout history and still continue in the present. Bacon s Rebellion
continues to have a lasting impact on today s society. In the novel 1984 by George Orwell, the
theme of rebellion is prevalent. The government system of Big Brother controls every aspect of
the people s lives. As the story progresses, the main character Winston Smith, finds himself
having hatred for Big Brother and wants to find a way to end the Party s reign. Other characters,
like Julia, only want to rebel for personal reasons and want no major changes. In George Orwell s
1984, the use of imagery to draw parallels between Winston s struggle against Big Brother and
man s repeated clashes with nigh totalitarian government. The struggle to beat a power that has
already gained control is grueling. In order to successfully revolt, there would need to be a large
mass of people willing to uprise. The people in overpowering governments are brainwashed to
believe in the false reality placed in front of them. Trying to convince people what they have
been told is fake is a challenge that is hard to surpass. Winston Smith placed himself on a mission
to help take down Big Brother, and in turn takes down himself. Winston wanted to rebel against
Big Brother for future generations to experience life in a way he is unable to. With memories of
the past, Winston realizes the world he lives in is very flawed. Mentally, Winston wants to destroy

Psychological Perspectives And Related Research Studies
An outline and evaluation of three psychological perspectives and related research studies
Introduction
The behaviourist approach transformed psychology in 1913 when John Watson put forward the
theory that psychology should be about the study of observable behaviour ignoring all mental
processes such as thoughts and emotions (Malim 1998). He viewed introspection as not being a
reliable and objective method for psychological study and believed the aim of psychology should be
to understand and control behaviour (ibid). He proposed that psychology should be seen as a
science using controlled variables within experimentation (McLeod 2007a). This scientific
approach made for a dependable method of assessing behaviour, however, critics of this approach
argued that this method created artificial situations holding little ecological validity (ibid).
Behaviourists also believe we are all born a blank slate and that all behaviour is determined from
learning from a person s own environmental experiences either through classical conditioning,
associating an external stimulus and a behavioural response, or through operant conditioning,
association via consequences where behaviour is shaped through reward or punishment (Malim
1998). However this belief doesn t take into account a person s spontaneity, creativity or their
ability to solve problems without the time consuming trial and error process that behaviourists
believe is necessary (ibid). Furthermore it fails to take into

Impact Of Communication Technology
Computer Programmer
How has communications technology affected this career in the past? Communication technologies
has affected computer programmers in the past because the first programmers were trying to
create a program for calculations to more easily do math. The first programmer was Ada King,
moreover she wrote the first algorithm to be carried out by a computer from 1842 1843. The first
computer was not electric, but all mechanical. Since then computer programmers have been
creating many software s to enhance communications technologies. Around 1889 1896, Herman
Hollerith created the tabular and keypunch system to process information and had also created a
control panel that could allow the tabular and keypunch system to preform different tasks. He
founded the Tabulating Machine Company in 1896, which later became IBM. Communications
technologies was vital during World War II. During the war the first digital and programmable
computers were used. They were known as Colossus, and their purpose was to decode encrypted
messages from the Germans. In 1947, the first bug in computers was reported by Grace Murray
Hopper, it was an actual bug as a moth had flow into the Mark Aiken II Relay Calculator. It had
to be debugged . By 1949, the Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator was created and was
known as the first programmable computer with practical storage. It could calculate lists of prime
numbers and tables of squares. In 1954, John Backus created the

The Synthesis Of Nannomaterials
Chemical synthesis of nanomaterials for drug delivery most commonly involves the synthesis of
nanometal compounds, polymer nanocomposites and quantum dots. The original synthesis
techniques for these nanomedicine applications involve toxic reagents and waste products. Green
chemistry initiatives are attempting to produce nanometals, composites and quantum dots without
the toxicity and waste associated with early methods.
Nanometals are an area of high interest in for drug delivery due to their magnetic properties.
Nanometals such as iron oxides have the desired traits of nanoparticles such as high surface to
volume ratios while also allowing for manipulation of drug delivery using magnetic fields.
Therapeutics are linked to the outside of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to injectable applications, nanometals are also synthesized for medical stent drug
delivery. This type of drug delivery vehicle involves the permanent fixture of a nanoparticle
apparatus that releases therapeutics in vivo over time. Nanometal stents are fundamentally green as
they are constructed to biodegrade in vivo and excreted through the renal system as they degrade.
The original construction of nanometal stents involved iron; however, iron stents have caused
inflammation in vivo.
Polyphenol coated porous nanomaterials such as silica are some of the most commonly studied
nanomaterials for stents. Self assembling, silica scaffolding with PEG coating is a natural choice
for drug delivery stents because it is biodegradable and allows for controlled release of
therapeutics to targeted sites in vivo via a pH sensitive release. Such scaffolding is meets green
chemistry goals of clean synthesis and avoided waste production; however, patient efficacy must
still be improved. Current in vivo studies demonstrate PEG coatings contributing to pleural
effusion, pericardial effusion and pulmonary fibrosis and granuloma as a result of the high
concentration of nanoparticles in the region of the scaffolding.
Construction of silica scaffolding has led to toxicity in researchers and patients. According to
Jahangirian x ray and electron microscopy have discovered silica

could be used to display ads for mobile users and increase firm s income. 2. Expansion to China.
Easing government regulations and newly elected government may open a way for Facebook to
enter China s social networking market. Until then, Facebook should prepare itself for such an

Parent Child Relationship in Greek Mythology Essay
It is inferred that the parents should take care of their children and have their best interest at heart.
This however, is not the case in Greek and Roman mythology. The killing of ones own children, or
filicide, was not viewed as negative upon in their era. The contemporary times contrast with the
ancient Greek and Roman s because it was justified to use any means necessary to obtain a higher
status. The Greeks and Romans valued keeping a high social reputation and having respect for
those of great power. The motherly union between their children conflict with the reality that the
father strives to retain or gain control. These circumstances cause a tense bond between the
members of the family. The strained parent to child relationship in... Show more content on

Knowing that having the kingdom would make his name great throughout the nation, Pelias
struggled to keep it however way possible. This patriarchal love for control in turn leads to a
discord of the family, especially between the child and father. In contrast to the father, the mother
had a connection with their children, often leading to an overthrow of the husband. This
materialistic love is easily shown in the myth of Demeter and Persephone. The joy of Demeter s
eternal lifetime was her daughter, Persephone, whom she had borne to Zeus ( Rosenberg Demeter
94). After Persephone was taken away, Demeter became infuriated and even withdrew her life
sustaining powers,.. she broke the plows, killed oxen, and caused the earth to shrivel ( Rosenberg
Demeter 96). Seen from Demeter s reaction to the situation, the bond between mother and child was
very strong compared to that of the father. When Persephone returns, she takes comfort in her
mother rather than her father. Children usually took the mother s side and went against their father
s will. In the creation myth of the Greeks, there were two generations in which the mother wanted
to protect her children from the grasps of the father. Gaea was afraid of what Uranus would do to
their fearful children, and sought to protect them ( Rosenberg Creation 86). The wives of Cronus
and Uranus both schemed the overthrow of their husbands,

Analysis Of The Book Severus Snape
1: Character of Severus Snape
Severus Snape is shown to be a person who is not just a strict teacher but also cold towards most
people. As the story evolves, we learn Snape s story and the side he actually is on. Professor
Severus Snape (9 January, 1960 2 May, 1998) was a half blood wizard who was the son of the
witch Eileen Snape and Muggle Tobias Snape. Severus was made a member of the Slug Club,
presumably because of his brilliance at potion making, and Horace Slughorn kept a picture of
him as a student, clutching his copy of Advanced Potion Making. Despite this, Horace did not
have many hopes for Severus s future, as his photograph was kept behind many others. Shortly
before Lily Evans was murdered by Lord Voldemort, Snape changed sides and became a member of
the Order of the Phoenix and double agent during the Second Wizarding War. With tremendous
difficulty, Snape prevented Lord Voldemort from learning the truth about his loyalties. Despite the
opinions of most others including Harry during his early life, Albus Dumbledore trusted Snape for
reasons that were kept between them both until their deaths. When he died, it was revealed that his
deep strong love for Lily Evans caused him to redeem himself, joining Dumbledore s cause at the
prospect of her protection (and, after her death, that of her son) from Lord Voldemort. verus Potter

matter how challenging or down I feel about my photographs, to keep practicing, pushing and

matter how different or risky they may seem. Even if I may love them while also thinking they

not write them. To not create a story. You ve inspired me to instead of going through with an
education then becoming a lawyer just for making a lot of money and be able to enjoy luxuries I

Essay on Social Control Theory vs. Social Learning Theory
Social Control Theory vs. Social Learning Theory
Abstract
Social control theory and social learning theory are two theories that suggest why deviant
behavior is chosen to be acted upon by some individuals and not others. Both take a different
stance on the issue. Social control theory suggests people s behavior is based on their bonds to
society, if they have strong bonds to society they conform and if not they have a tendency to act out
or become involved in criminal or deviant behavior. Social learning theory suggest that through
vicarious learning people learn from observing others and based on what the observe make the

47 54). Also to achieve many of these goals it is very helpful not to participate in delinquent
behavior because it is looked upon negatively and could hinder the achievement of the goals.
The third element in Hirschi bond to society is involvement. Involvement in this theory is simply
the level of participation an individual actively pursues in conventional activities. Some of the
activities this could include are social events, sports teams, school clubs, religious organizations,
family events, or simply a job. These types of activities keep people busy and provide less time
to participate or get caught up in delinquent behavior. This is especially the case for adolescents as
they are highly influenced by peers who may not lead them to the best choices on how to spend
their time, which could lead to deviant behavior (Simons, Simons, amp; Wallace, 2004, p. 21).
The fourth and final element is belief (Simons, Simons, amp; Wallace, 2004, p. 21). Parents and
teachers can play an important role in children s lives by teaching them right from wrong, moral
issues, and the basic rules and laws of society. How the child comes to understand, accept, and
believe in these concepts will determine how he or she acts. If the child believes in these rules and
laws and accepts them he or she is more likely to follow the law and less likely to partake in
delinquent behavior, the opposite holds true if he or she does not believe in the rules or do not
care or fear the

How Socio Demographic Factors Influence Income
Summative Report 2
Research Question: How do socio demographic factors influence income in the UK?
Introduction
Socio demographic factors are factors such as age, sex, ethnicity, religion, which affect society and
are present in statistics. These factors have a significant effect on income because a person with a
university degree is able to increase their income as they may look for more specialized jobs in
relevance to their degree thus allowing them to generate higher levels of income in comparison
to somebody who has a lower education level for example GCSE s who would look for jobs in
line with their current qualifications. In order for me to analyse how socio demographic factors
affect income I have chosen to look at 3 independent variables; Education, Gender and Religion to
see the level of statistical significance in relation to income. In terms of a previous literature I have
reviewed different types of literature in order to understand the relationship of these independent
variables to income and have looked at the Theory of human Capital in regards to education by
Becker (2009), theories that discuss the gender pay gap, and also Max Weber s renowned book of
The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism which examines the effect of religiosity in
increasing levels of income amongst Protestants. After exploring this literature I will carry out
Analysis of Variance and Regression; both linear and multiple to see how much of an impact the
variables of Education,

The Media And The Role Of Media In The Media
Media is one of the most powerful institutions that play a role in how we view the world that we
live in. Often media may stereotype a certain group of people, which impacts how others view
one other. When the media does this, it further supports the division in society. While most
media does this, Grey s Anatomy is one that does the opposite. Through its portrayal of powerful
people who would typically be oppressed in society, Grey s Anatomy goes against refutes the
social norms that we re accustomed to. The creator of the television show is Shonda Rhimes. She

A Risk Engineering Approach to Project Management
Project Management A project is a group activity temporary in nature projected to achieve a desired
result, service or product in a unique manner (Chapman, 2007). A project is termed as temporary
since it has a set start and finish time period and is undertaken with defined resources and within a
set scope. The operations within a project are unique since they do not rely on the routing
operations. Rather, a set of operations are designated to meet the desired target. From this
understanding, it is deduced that project management will entail the process of meeting the set
goals for a particular activity. According to (Chapman, 2007), project management is the strategic
deployment of skills, knowledge and techniques to accomplish specific set goals efficiently and
effectively. Project management deviates away from normal organization operations to achieve
predefined targets. Project management reorients and organizes available resources to meet set
goals efficiently within a defined scope the set time period (Chapman, 2007). Project management
is divided into five interrelated but, distinctive phases. These phases are: Project initiation; Project
planning; Project execution; Project Monitoring and controlling and, Project Termination. In
project management, time, money and scope are the three principal components considered to have
a bearing on the success of the project. These are interrelated and, a balance between them is
needful in order to ensure efficient and

Social Control Of Deviance
As a matter of fact, several individuals have discussed the fact that social deviance can also be
seen as some sort of social control. Social control is commonly known as the subordination of
personal interests to public interests (Shipunova, 2016). It is also seen as society s attempt to
regulate the thinking and behavior of people (Shipunova, 2016). As we saw with the Michaels
case, she was given the reputation of a deviant person, more specifically, of a sexual offender, to
ensure the stability of the society. Even though she was declared innocent by the Supreme Court,
the continuation of labeling her as deviant can be perceived as the community s attempt to control
Michaels actions. It is said that the social control of deviance, and everything

Explain How The Enlightenment Influenced The American...
How ideas from the enlightenment influenced the American Revolution Our nation was born from
the idea that each person should have their own independence. They thought that the only way to
get that independence was to separate ourselves from not only King George III, but the entire
country of Great Britain. To make sure that there would not be any more tyrants to lead our country;
our founding fathers used ideas from the Enlightenment to establish our government and to ensure
our future as a nation. Many philosophers of the Enlightenment period had a crucial influence on
the documents that created The United States of America. John Locke, Voltaire, Montesquieu, and
Rousseau all had a hand in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. John Locke had
a focus on natural rights. He thought people were peaceful and moral. He believed in a direct
democracy, a government in which the people vote. Montesquieu sharply criticized an absolute

the rest of the philosophers believed in. When drafting the Declaration of Independence, Thomas

JULY, 2015
ABSTRACT
Due to the progressive development of human societies, their ecological and environmental
influence has been steadily increasing. The spatial expansion and higher population and housing
density of cities with its multiplier effect on land use and land cover change (LUCC) have been
recognized as the most important aspects of cities climate change which is triggered by the need for
urban services provision for the influx of human population. The shortages of housing in particular,
and other urban services provision is the fundamental cause and effects of development of illegal
and informal settlements. With analysis from empirical study in Eldoret town, the study discusses
the need for urban land regularization as a requisite to combat the driving forces for formation of
informal settlements and its impacts on cities climate. After presenting a series of concepts and
definitions related to urban land informality and illegality, standardization and tenure security from
the literature, we then discuss the data methods for the study. A detail of the research results
focusing on the nature and the impacts of informal and illegal settlement in both the city centre and
the hinterlands using the UN Habitat Slum indicators is presented. We conclude on implication

My Family Vacation
A vacation is meant to be a time for serenity and relaxation. In my case it was the complete
opposite, but it changed me for the better. Five years ago a family vacation to Jamaica changed
the way I saw everything and made me appreciate the people I love and where I come from. It all
started with the worst airplane ride. About thirty minutes into the ride the flight attendant started
going around offering snacks. These purple potato chips caught my eye so that s what I decided
to get. I should have known something so bright couldn t have been good to eat. I instantly
regretted eating the chip after taking a bite out of that awfully weird tasting potato chip because
immediately after, I felt a striking pain in my lower abdomen. I tried to relieve the pain by
loosening the seat belt buckle. I drank gingerale, tried to position myself differently to feel less
discomfort but nothing helped. My brother was too busy on his I pad to care, my other brother
was too young to formulate proper sentences and my mom was too far gone in her sleep, she
couldn t have been any help fresh out of slumber. I just rocked back and forth releasing oohs and
ah s here and there because the pain was intolerable. I kept on for the remaining three hour flight
weeping and wincing, trying to keep quiet so I wouldn t disturb anyone. Landing in Jamaica was
supposed to be exciting, but how could I be excited when I was in pain. My mom, two younger
brothers and I were waiting for my uncle to arrive and take us to his house, so I took this
opportunity to tell my mom what was going on. She believed that it might just be cramps so she
buys me two bottles of ginger beerwhich is like the ginger aleof Jamaica, So I drank and I drank

worked. After my mom and uncle tried everything they could think of they finally came to the
conclusion that it was time to bring me to the doctor.

Performance Workshop Ensemble (PWE)
I have been a student at Sharron Miller s Academy for the Performing Arts (SMAPA) for 13 years.
SMAPA has a performing company called Performance Workshop Ensemble (PWE). PWE is a
group of students, ages 12 to 18, who are the top dancers of the dance school. Each member is
given a merit scholarship to take at least eight classes a week, to attend rehearsals on Saturdays
from twelve o clock to five o clock, and to perform for the New Jersey community. At the end of
my 8th grade school year, I was approached by Sharron Miller herself, and asked to become a
member of PWE. When I was asked to be part of the Performance Workshop Ensemble, I was
ecstatic because being part of PWE was my dream and goal since the 5th grade. It is a large

Averrhoa carambola
INTRODUCTION
Star fruit, botanically called as Carambola, is a star shaped tropical fruit with sweet and sour flavor.

Determination In The Bravest Girl In The World
Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough Og Mandino. Og
Mandino is saying that if someone has a strong determination to succeed they will never fail.
Determination means a firm or fixed intention to achieve a desired end. The word determination is
from the Middle English, the Anglo French determiner, and from the Latin determinare. Synonyms
are used to help people better understand a word. The synonyms for determination include
resolution, decisiveness, and persistency. Hesitation, indecision, and irresoluteness are antonyms to
the word determination. People say in life if a person has determination they can accomplish
anything. Malala Yousafzai and Melba Beals showed the world that if they use determination...

this is my cry: There is no future without healthy children who grow up in a peaceful
environment. Do not turn your hatred on the children. Throughout Grace s whole life she has
seen and been through so much pain and suffering. She escaped captivity though, and is now
determined to help other kids like her. One reason she wrote this book was to help raise
awareness and get others to have the same determination as her to help these poor children.
These children are being forced to kill and others are forced to be a man s wife. Other children
are awaiting the day that they too get captured and they are trying to do as much as they can to
escape those horrors. But you hangout around one of the sleeping centers and they look up at you

Benjamin Franklin Sparknotes
Benjamin Franklin s autobiography starts off with him addressing it Dear Son and beginning
with this history of his family. He traces it back to three hundred years. His father and his wife
settled in Boston along with Franklin and his siblings. Although Franklin is identified as
intelligent it was also known that he struggles in school(he is told he must take up a trade). He
strongly disliked his father s trade and so he tried out a few others before being apprenticed to
his brother James, a printer. He enjoys this trade and spends his leisure time perfecting his own
writing. James and Franklin did not get along. So, Franklin and his friend John Collins run away
to Philadelphia. There Franklin gets work with a printer, with whom he has a pleasant enough
relationship. Sir William Keith(the Governor of the province) was impressed by Franklin s
work, and offers to help Franklin convince his father that he should open his own shop. However,
his father thinks he is too young and tells him he has to spend time working hard for his trade.
Franklin agreeing because he had no other choice and hopes in the near future to have his own
shop. In the meantime, he has a fallout with Collins. Franklin worries about paying back the
money of his father s friend(Vernon), who had given it to Franklin for safekeeping. Franklin has a
legal dispute with a young woman named Miss Read and enjoyed conversing about poetry and
philosophy with other young men in the town. One man, James

Order vs. Chaos in Greek Mythology
Order vs. Chaos
Respected Storm God s in ancient mythological literary works such as the Enuma Elish, The Baal
Cycle, and both versions of the Illuyanka Myth play an important role in associating cultural
beliefs with the defeat of chaos. These three works show a variety of ways in which the Storm God
defeats dragon like monsters and how the gods bestow their trust in the Storm God to maintain
order, as the Storm God is the protector of all creation. The purpose of this essay is to compare
and contrast these three literary works to demonstrate the defeat of order over chaos. In the
Babylonian Enuma Elish, Marduk, the Storm God defeats the dragon like monster Tiamat. In the
Ugaritic Baal Cycle, the Storm God, Baal, defeats the serpent Yam.... Show more content on

As stated by the author, [Tiamat] elevated Kingu, made him chief among them. The leader of the
ranks, command of the Assembly, the raising of weapons for the encounter, to combat, to direct
the battle, to control the fight. Tiamat prepares for battle against one of her own, one of her
offspring; she defies family and is ready to fight. As stated by the author, Tiamat prepares for battle
against the gods, her offspring. In both version one of the Illuyanka Myth and in the Enuma Elish,
the serpents use their children to assist in defeat against the Storm God.
The battle between Baal and Yam in The Baal Cycle can also be comparable to the battle
between Marduk and Tiamat in the Enuma Elish. In The Baal Cycle, Yam sends for El to try
and have Baal surrender to Yam. The gods are afraid of Yam, just like the gods are afraid of
Tiamat in the Enuma Elish. The author in The Baal Cycle writes Sea sent two
messengers...Leave, lads, do not turn back; now head toward the Assembly in council, at the
center of the mountain of night. Do not fall at El s feet. Yam wants to take Baal s place and
stature along with his power, and El agrees. Yam says to El El, give up the one you are hiding,
give up Baal and his powers, the son of Dagon: I will assume his inheritance. Baal refuses and
conquers the serpent with the two clubs presented to him by Kothar instead of surrendering to the
serpent s request. In the Enuma Elish, Tiamat uses a similar approach to try and get Marduk

Assessment and Selection:
1. Ensure all internal and external interviewers and assessors are competent and fully trained in the

In this area I could development a training programme that all interviewers and assessors would
have to undertake before being able to take part in recruitment events. The training could be both a

require everyone to pass a practical assessment at the end.
2. Develop and deliver assessment and selection processes to enable the organisation to make
informed choices about candidates based on a full range of information.

Smokey Coming Home
When we answered the ad about the horses for sale for my children, it never occurred to me that
I would be bringing one home for me. He was the first thing I saw when we pulled up. His coat
was swirls of black and gray with no distinguishable pattern. It made me think of smoke rising
from a chimney. He was starving thin, and his bones showed through his smokey coat. He was
staked to the bare ground. One could see he had already eaten everything his tether would let him
reach. In my mind, he was already mine. I named him Smokey before we even got out of the truck.
Just a few feet away was another horse, pure white, well fed and positively stunning. We asked the
man about the difference in how the horses were being fed, he explained; he knew he would get
more money for the white one, so he took better care of him.He knew that I wanted Smokey, he
saw it in my eyes. They come as a pair, he said. Then we saw another one, who was worse off than
Smokey. There was no way I was going to let either one of those starving animals stay.
My husband David said we only brought enough money for one of the horses, but he had a few
guns he would be willing to trade. I know the man thought we were nuts. Smokey was so starved it

The Invention Of Designer Babies
Introduction
Throughout the world, the potential to genetically modify embryos has created controversy
whether this procedure if morally correct. Designer babies have been created by screening
embryos for genetic diseases. However, Designer babies has also been used to contain selected
desired qualities such as eye colour, hair colour and skin complexion. The question remains, where
is the line drawn for designer babies?
In Vitro Fertilisation
In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) is a procedure in which eggs (ova) from a woman s ovary are removed.
In a laboratory procedure, they are fertilised with a sperm, and then the fertilized egg (embryo) is
returned to the woman s uterus. (Medicine, 2007) IVF is a process in which the egg is fertilised
outside of the body (as seen in figure 1). IVF is not the only assisted reproductive technology,
however, is the most commonly known and most successful. Other assisted reproductive
technologies include: Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI), Hormonal therapy for men or surgery.
Conception using IVF includes the following biological process:
Stimulating the ovaries, where the female is given hormones to produce more eggs each cycle the
enable the collection of multiple eggs. Collecting the eggs occurs by placing an ultrasound probe
in the uterus. The ultrasound will show where the follicles are within the ovaries. A needle is then
passed through the uterus wall and into the ovaries. Each follicle is pierced to collect the egg inside.

Political Party Vs. Politics
Political party or anything in connection with politics is a common topic of every group of
Indian who are sitting together at any place. It is always a debatable topic. Most of Indians are
very much interested in politics. We look at formation of many parties; we find that their
establishment are mainly due to ideological differences that result in split in parent party and at the
end leads to formation of a new political partywith a new agenda.
In multi party system like India, the parties can be classified into three types i.e.; National parties,
Regional parties and State parties. The status of the party is granted by Election Commission of
India and after that it is reviewed occasionally. All the parties whether national, Regional or State
party, they are registered with Election Commission. A unique election symbol is given by the
Election Commission to every registered party
Currently there are 7 National parties and 56 State parties. The total number of registered
unrecognised parties in India is 1786. There are mainly nine regional parties out of 657 Regional
parties. There are 12 other upcoming parties.
The Election Commission mandates certain rules regarding starting a new political party in India
like;
1.Every new party to have at least 100 members.[There are no set rules on how or who to recruit, it
s up to the party]
2.Each member is required to hold an Indian voter ID card.
3.Individuals must be 18 years old [major].

History of Civil Rights Movement
The 1960s brought about changes economically and socially. The Civil Rights Movement was
alive and moving. The Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s goal was to hopefully put an end to
racial discrimination and to restore voting rights in the South. Clearly the 60s was not the
beginning of the fight for civil rights in America. The 18th century in the United State was
plagued by hatred, racism and slavery. Slavery affected the entire nation. Slavery destroyed
families by taking members of one s captive to work as slaves. Abolitionists of all races began
protesting against slavery. As slaves grew tired of intense abuse, slaves planned escape routes,
signals and even songs. By 1843, slaves were escaping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

segregation in America. Broking the color lines, which changed housing, transportation and

elimination of racial hatred and racial discrimination by providing services such as legal aid and
educational services. The organization has expanded one s efforts with local chapters in almost
every one of the 50 states in America. African Americans continued to encounter unfair and unjust
treatment. In 1955, Rosa Parks refusal to give up one s bus seat to a white person led to the birth
of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. One s courageous stand led to many others worldwide
fight against racial injustice. The controversial actions of the 60s Civil Rights Movement led
groups to make stand for one s personal causes and sufferings.
History of Women s Liberation Feminism Movements
The origin of women s liberation began in the 18th century with the World s Anti Slavery

Paulo Freire Essay
The Private Liberation
Paulo Freire introduces the idea of a problem posing education system in his book The Pedagogy of
the Oppressed, which offers a highly effective alternative to the traditional method of memorizing
facts that he deems the banking concept of education. Problem posing allows individuals to expand
their own thoughts, ideas, and opinions through open discussion in a classroom setting. I went
through such an experience senior year in my Comparative Government class, which focused on
different governments along with the key social and economic issues they face. While many may
argue that the banking concept has some value in certain issues, the alternative in problem posing
offers a broader experience in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The subject of government is engrained in peoples minds as being a history subject but the class
showed that in reality it is a living, changing, and expanding subject. Freire describes this loss of
meaning in the first page when he says ...Contents which are detached from reality, disconnected
from totality that engendered them and could give them significance. Words are emptied of their
concreteness and become a hollow, alienated, and alienating verbosity (318). A banking education
class would have had students sitting in straight rows staring at the white board fiercely copying
every single detail that the teacher wrote down about each of the governments, and in the minds of
the students these would be concrete unchanging situations. If someone were to come into a
discussion that the class was having, while wearing a blindfold, it would be a difficult task to
identify the instructor of the course because each student had a new and different perspective on
the article. The teacher, although presumed to have more knowledge than all of us as students,
never exerted his own thoughts and ideas as authoritative and absolute but offered ideas and
perspective the same way that each student brought their own opinions to the table. The focus was
for each student to foster his or her analytical skills,

Unsupervised Transcription Of Piano Music
Unsupervised Transcription of Piano Music
MS Technical Paper

Mar.14, 2015
1. Motivation
Audio signal processing has been a very active research area. Automatic piano music transcription,
of all the tasks in this area, is an especially interesting and challenging one. There are many
examples of how this technique can contribute to our life. For instance, in today s music lessons and
tests, we often rely on people s hearing ability to judge whether a piano player performed well
based on whether the notes played are accurate or not. The process requires man power and is not
always fair and accurate because people s judgement is subjective. If a good automatic transcription
system can be designed and implemented with high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To tackle this problem, source separation techniques must be utilized.
2. Existing Approaches
In this section, we will discuss what has been done in this area of unsupervised music transcription.
Undoubtedly there are different aspects to this task. And different ways and techniques are used in
attempt to solve this problem efficiently and accurately. In an effort to provide a clear picture of
what has been done, we will categorize different approaches based on technique used.
The classic starting point for the problem of unsupervised piano transcription where the test
instrument is not seen during training, is a non negative factorization of the acoustic signal s
spectrogram [1]. Most research work has been improving on this baseline in the one of the
following two ways: better modeling of the discrete musical structure of the piece being transcribed
[2,3] or by better adapting to the timbral properties of the source instrument [4,5].
Combining the above two approaches are difficult. Hidden Markov or semi Markov models are
widely used as the standard approach to model discrete musical structures. This approach needs fast
dynamic programming for inference. To combine discrete models with timbral adaption and source
separation, it would break the conditional independence assumptions that dynamic programming
rely on. Previous research work to avoid this inference problem typically postpones detailed
modeling the discrete structure of timbre

Birthing And Prenatal Care Interview
Birthing and Prenatal Care Interview Giving birth to a baby is the most amazing and
miraculous experiences for parents and their loved ones. Every woman s birth story is different
and full of joy. Furthermore, the process from the moment a woman knows that she s pregnant
to being in the delivering room is very critical to both her and the newborn baby. Prenatal care is
extremely important and it can impact greatly the quality of life of the baby. In this paper, the
topic of giving birth will be discussed thoroughly by describing the stories of two mothers who
gave birth in different decades and see how their prenatal cares are different from each other with
correlation of the advancement of modern medicine between four decades. Christine Le, an
accountant living in Flushing, New York, gave birth to a healthy baby Nathan on January 29th,
2010. She found out that she was pregnant with her first child when her period was late. She had
the routine prenatal care starting at 12 weeks and delivered at 40 weeks in a hospital with the
present of her husband, Robert, and the in laws. To insure her baby was healthy, Christine
underwent several prenatal diagnostic methods like amniocentesis to examine for genetic defects.
Another method was ultrasound; its purpose is to assess fetal age, multiple pregnancies, size and
shape of the fetus. Christine underwent numerous lab tests to ensure that there are no complications
(Berk, pg.43). Lab tests like a complete blood count that screens

  • 2. Clearbrook Case Study After being able to read my Professor s comments, I realized to have a successful CFSC Plan, there needs to be more information on the financial well being of Clearbrook. Clearbrook s finances are not at my disposal in regards to what can be extended on and what can be utilized as it stands. There may be a building available for Clearbrook to use as they would see fit for help with children in the Joliet, IL. area, without further investigation I have no idea on if this is feasible. The next area that would need more time and effort is scheduling interviews for potential teachers, aides and volunteers, of whom all must have background checks for security purposes for working with children with special needs. Another possibility is training individuals the proper techniques for dealing with children who have special needs in certain areas. Not all children who have autism are low functioning, but they may be smart enough to learn an access code to get into a computer and cause a little chaos. I personally know of a child with autism who hacked his gym teacher s computer, the child was only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here is where teachers and schools can come up with low cost if not free activates that children can enjoy with their family members. The school can only put together so much for the community to attend with their children, if the event is enjoyable, the more families will come to it in the future, but if it s a flop, there will need to be revisions and a meeting or two to see what improvements can be made to meet the families in the community ... From the Statue of Liberty to the Empire State Building, it shows how far American got from being rebels to the most powerful people in the world. The city also had creative and smart people within the city, to show off the creative side of the city. No matter what happened to the city, it will still stand tall and proud. That wasn t until The Black Friday outbreak happened. The entire city fell to chaos, people turned on each other, and power and supplies disappeared quickly. From Javier Cranford, this was heartbreaking to see and hear as he had been living in New York Cityfrom his entire life with his family until he left for the army. Javier said in a funny manner and kept on walking as he could hear Ghost s disgusted noise at the mashup of his code name and last name. Another five minutes of walking got them to Grand Central Terminal as Javier and Ghost saw how empty it was. It was odd for them to see one of the places with the most traffic be so empty. They got up to the station as they felt a sudden chill and realized that the place lacked any power. Javier saw the stairs and said to Ghost, Come on, let s go up the stairs and wait from the other two to show up. He raced up the steps as he got up to the top before Ghost, who was walking slowly up the steps. And the upper floor, the main floor with the famous clock on it, was also abandoned. Javier grabbed one of his flares and started the flare up as he threw it towards the clock, hitting the metal support of it. He turned around as soon as he saw Ghost finished with the walk upward and said to him, Alright, this is our rendezvous point. • 4. The Increasing Weight Of The Union The increasing weight of the Union since its creation in 1951 has elevated the community to the international stage as an indubitable power and encouraged the debate about the characterization of the EU, fostered by the involvement from European political science scholars. Scholars have came up with a sui generis definition of the EU in the sense that it neither is an intergovernmental organization nor a federal state.4 Still, the novelty of the Union does not bound itself to the definition of the nature of European institutional set up. Indeed, the discussion between scholars goes further towards the characterization of the European power. To understand Manner s theory, let us first have a look at its inspirations. The concept of civilian power (CP) was mostly developed by F.DuchГЄne in 1973. He defined it as a civilian group long on economic power and relatively short on armed forces .5 This concept can be said to be the basis of Manners NPE theory. Moravcsik deepened F.DuchГЄne s definition arguing that the EU s CP В«does not lie in the deployment of battalions or bomber, but rather in the quiet promotion of democracy and development through trade, foreign aid and peacekeepingВ». 6 In a word, both definitions imply that CP privileges means others than military ones in its foreign policy. As a matter of fact, the civilian conceptualization of Europe puts the emphasis on negociacion, multilateralism, economic instruments and diplomacy rather than privileging a ... It is a cancer that is only limited to males, as only males have prostate glands. The exact etiology is still unknown; however, it is thought to be a multifactorial disease with inherited genetics playing a major role (Xu 2013). Particularly, people with fathers and brothers with prostatecancerare at increased risk for developing it themselves. Other male relatives have also shown a linkage, especially if the relative was diagnosed young (Al Olama AA 2014). This finding was later corroborated with the results of the first two GWAS of prostate cancer in May 2007 (Amundadottir 2006 Gudmundsson 2007). These initial GWAS studies analyzed 550,000 SNPs across the genome in cases and controls of European origin nested from the Cancer Genetic Markers of Susceptibility (Gudmundsson 2007). • 6. Analysis Of Robert Frost And The Tuft Of Flowers There once lived a fellow named Robert Frost, who was one of the greatest poets of the 20th century. In the year 1874, Robert s life began in San Francisco. He lived there for eleven years with his family until his father died. When that happened, Robert, his mother, and little sister all moved to Massachusetts. There, Robert went to high school and graduated top of his class. He went on to complete only one term at Dartmouth College, and after that, two years at Harvard University. After leaving college, Robert worked as a farmer and later as a factory worker for a short time. Next, he taught English at Pinkerton Academy for four years. Mr. Frost s wrote many poems, one of which is called The Tuft of Flowers, is one of Frost s earlier works. Accordingly, the focus this essay will be analyzing that poem and comparing it with another Robert Frost wrote. There are two parts of this essay, analyzing the first poem using four elements of poetry: theme, imagery, sound, and symbol, and the second part is a comparison of the first another written by Frost, Acquainted with the Night. In the beginning of The Tuft of Flowers, a newly mown field can be seen. The flowers and tall grasses, which had been a haven and a joy for insects, animals, and people, were unceremoniously assaulted by the blade of the workman. The author of the poem is observing the scene, alone; his loneliness is evident. However, this hopelessness is as he was before he noticed the tuft of flowers. He viewed all ... • 7. Persuasive Essay On Save Water Water is something no one can live without. In fact, human bodies are about sixty five percent water. Therefore, water conservation is a project everyone should be willing to participate in. Specifically, in the Logan, Utah area, water conservation is an important topic, as the citizens use water every day. In an interview with The Herald Journal, USU sociology professor Douglas Jackson Smith said the city s water concerns have the potential to increase, based on Logan s anticipated population growth by 2050 (Peikes). There is a growing concern about the amount of water the city will have or be able to produce for the growing population. Although it is important that each citizen is staying hydrated and being hygienic, people do not need to use so much water in doing so. Many people have cut back on watering their lawns, or started to take shorter showers, but there are more options to choose from and ways to conserve water. This problem is solvable, if only more people would participate and take steps to conserve water. First, the citizens of Logan, Utah should act in conserving the water supply in Logan for now and for the future. The actions they can take are simple, and come down to the basic rule stop using so much/ wasting water . Each individual resident can take steps to conserve water within their homes. That is usually the easy part. The hard part about conserving water is getting businesses and the city itself to conserve water. Businesses waste a substantial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Persuasive Essay On Crosswalks Summary Since moving into the neighborhood about seven months ago, there are a lot of activities for the residents to partake in. The neighborhood has eleven playgrounds, (some which are for younger children considered tot lots), four basketball courts, a pool, a recreational center, and mailboxes at the end of each resident s street. Seems like a lot of places you are able to walk, right? One thing missing in the neighborhood is crosswalks leading to each of these different places and more. What I am proposing is to have cross walks put up throughout the neighborhood so residents are safe when crossing the road. Problem A large circle is the main road for the neighborhood and has eight connecting streets leading to where the resident s houses are located. Families each day walk around the neighborhood to different activities such as the playgrounds, basketball courts, the pool, and other activities. The problem is when residents have to walk to different places there are no safe places to cross the road. Currently there are no painted crosswalks or even pedestrian crossing signs. This can cause a major safety concern for residents and drivers. Children and teens can be affect largely by this due to the school bus dropping them off at the entrance of the neighborhood. Also, as this being unsafe for residents this is also an unsafe condition for others such as, the families of residents, maintenance workers, delivery drivers, etc. However, ... • 11. Persecution Against An Unchartered Jargon Essay Persecution Against an Unchartered Jargon The Webster Dictionary defines the word language as the system of words or signs that people use to express thoughts and feelings to each other as well as any one of the systems of human language that are used and understood by a particular group of people (Webster Dictionary). If language is a tool dedicated as a communication source to understand one another, why is the way certain people talk being neglected and marked as not an actual language? Language has evolved into more than just words being expressed through our voices, but has converted into a weapon used to ridicule and attack other dialects due to how different and unorthodox a particular language may be. James Baldwin in If Black English Isn t a Language, Then Tell me, What is? argues that Black English was a form of the African American community s own dialectof the English language, and neglecting the language as its own contradicts the definition of the word language itself. Bell hooks explores and points out the class differences within our society and not just within our colleges major universities, pointing out how in which assimilation is not inevitable and not required wherever an individual enters. Our own stories and the way we present ourselves through our words should not be limited to a certain form; in F for Book Report, R. • 12. Great Britain After Ww2 Britain was a major force in the First and Second World Wars. It s strong political and military presence in the world was one to be envied by other countries. During the war, Britain used its resources and resources from other countries to fight against Hitler s Nazi regime. With a lot of aid from the United States, Hitler was defeated. It was a short lived victory for Britain and other countries because due to the brutality of World War 2, Britain s economy was badly hurt and so was their morale. Christianity, which was Britain s primary religion, experienced a sharp decline with fewer people attending church on a regular basis compared to other countries, However, Uganda also has its own history of ethnic and religious sectarianism, of violence and conflict, and this has produced movements of Ugandans out of their own country in search of security and a new life (Ward). Though the Anglican Church was strong in Britain, its decline is clearly shown when Ugandan migrants who are Anglican Christians try to find a church in Britain. However, the churches at times fail to live up to the Ugandan s expectations of an Anglican Church. This decline in Christianity was partly due to the social changes that were going on in Britain such as the burst of minorities entering the country. However, many still claimed to be Christian with a lot claiming Atheism. This is due to an increasing number of religions entering Britain after World War 2. Though Parliament may have been used to catering to the needs of the Christian community, due to the diverse religions in Britain, Parliament had to consider a wide variety of factors now. For example, Islam is a religion that has caused world wide controversy in recent years but is also one of the fastest growing religions in the world and in Britain. INTRODUCTION David Edmondson of Yahoo and Scott Thompson of RadioShack were just two names in the long and confounding list of prominent people who had embroidered or falsified their rГ©sumГ©s and were felled for doing so. This list includes a former Notre Dame Football coach, chief executive of Bausch Lomb, a director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and an MIT admissions director. In this reaction paper I focus on this very issue of rГ©sumГ© falsification and analyze how such cases ought to be dealt, from an ethical stand point. The issue is analyzed using the cases of Scott Thompson and David Edmondson, former CEOs of Yahoo and RadioShack respectively. The paper starts by providing a brief overview of the above mentioned cases... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an investigative report, Star Telegram revealed that Edmondson had also falsified his rГ©sumГ© by stating that he had degrees in psychology and theology. Star Telegram revealed that the Pacific Coast Baptist College did not even issue degrees in psychology, and that they only issued a diplomas in theology. David Edmondson s name was also not found in the College records. Edmondson contested that he remembered to have completed his diploma in theology, but he could not support his claims. He eventually stepped down as the CEO as well. ETHICAL DILEMMA Both Yahoo and RadioShack, had to find solution to the following questions How serious of an offence was it for a CEO to have lied on the rГ©sumГ©? Should a CEO be sacked for falsification of the rГ©sumГ© or should he be retained in the company on the basis that his performance as a CEO has little bearing on his degree? Should the company also impose a sanction on the CEO? What are the implications on the company in choosing either of these options? • 19. Psychological Perspectives And Related Research Studies An outline and evaluation of three psychological perspectives and related research studies Introduction The behaviourist approach transformed psychology in 1913 when John Watson put forward the theory that psychology should be about the study of observable behaviour ignoring all mental processes such as thoughts and emotions (Malim 1998). He viewed introspection as not being a reliable and objective method for psychological study and believed the aim of psychology should be to understand and control behaviour (ibid). He proposed that psychology should be seen as a science using controlled variables within experimentation (McLeod 2007a). This scientific approach made for a dependable method of assessing behaviour, however, critics of this approach argued that this method created artificial situations holding little ecological validity (ibid). Behaviourists also believe we are all born a blank slate and that all behaviour is determined from learning from a person s own environmental experiences either through classical conditioning, associating an external stimulus and a behavioural response, or through operant conditioning, association via consequences where behaviour is shaped through reward or punishment (Malim 1998). However this belief doesn t take into account a person s spontaneity, creativity or their ability to solve problems without the time consuming trial and error process that behaviourists believe is necessary (ibid). Communication technologies has affected computer programmers in the past because the first programmers were trying to create a program for calculations to more easily do math. The first programmer was Ada King, moreover she wrote the first algorithm to be carried out by a computer from 1842 1843. The first computer was not electric, but all mechanical. Since then computer programmers have been creating many software s to enhance communications technologies. Around 1889 1896, Herman Hollerith created the tabular and keypunch system to process information and had also created a control panel that could allow the tabular and keypunch system to preform different tasks. He founded the Tabulating Machine Company in 1896, which later became IBM. Communications technologies was vital during World War II. During the war the first digital and programmable computers were used. They were known as Colossus, and their purpose was to decode encrypted messages from the Germans. In 1947, the first bug in computers was reported by Grace Murray Hopper, it was an actual bug as a moth had flow into the Mark Aiken II Relay Calculator. It had to be debugged . Also to achieve many of these goals it is very helpful not to participate in delinquent behavior because it is looked upon negatively and could hinder the achievement of the goals. The third element in Hirschi bond to society is involvement. Involvement in this theory is simply the level of participation an individual actively pursues in conventional activities. Some of the activities this could include are social events, sports teams, school clubs, religious organizations, family events, or simply a job. These types of activities keep people busy and provide less time to participate or get caught up in delinquent behavior. This is especially the case for adolescents as they are highly influenced by peers who may not lead them to the best choices on how to spend their time, which could lead to deviant behavior (Simons, Simons, amp; Wallace, 2004, p. 21). The fourth and final element is belief (Simons, Simons, amp; Wallace, 2004, p. 21). Parents and teachers can play an important role in children s lives by teaching them right from wrong, moral issues, and the basic rules and laws of society. How the child comes to understand, accept, and believe in these concepts will determine how he or she acts. Introduction Socio demographic factors are factors such as age, sex, ethnicity, religion, which affect society and are present in statistics. These factors have a significant effect on income because a person with a university degree is able to increase their income as they may look for more specialized jobs in relevance to their degree thus allowing them to generate higher levels of income in comparison to somebody who has a lower education level for example GCSE s who would look for jobs in line with their current qualifications. In order for me to analyse how socio demographic factors affect income I have chosen to look at 3 independent variables; Education, Gender and Religion to see the level of statistical significance in relation to income. In terms of a previous literature I have reviewed different types of literature in order to understand the relationship of these independent variables to income and have looked at the Theory of human Capital in regards to education by Becker (2009), theories that discuss the gender pay gap, and also Max Weber s renowned book of The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism which examines the effect of religiosity in increasing levels of income amongst Protestants. • 34. A Risk Engineering Approach to Project Management Project Management A project is a group activity temporary in nature projected to achieve a desired result, service or product in a unique manner (Chapman, 2007). A project is termed as temporary since it has a set start and finish time period and is undertaken with defined resources and within a set scope. The operations within a project are unique since they do not rely on the routing operations. Rather, a set of operations are designated to meet the desired target. From this understanding, it is deduced that project management will entail the process of meeting the set goals for a particular activity. According to (Chapman, 2007), project management is the strategic deployment of skills, knowledge and techniques to accomplish specific set goals efficiently and effectively. Project management deviates away from normal organization operations to achieve predefined targets. Project management reorients and organizes available resources to meet set goals efficiently within a defined scope the set time period (Chapman, 2007). Project management is divided into five interrelated but, distinctive phases. These phases are: Project initiation; Project planning; Project execution; Project Monitoring and controlling and, Project Termination. • 37. Adaptation Of Climate And Simplifying Informal Settlements ADAPTATION OF CLIMATE AND STANDARDIZING INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS IN ELDORET BY Caroline Jepkemboi Cheplong Email; carojep2015@hotmail.com JULY, 2015 ABSTRACT Due to the progressive development of human societies, their ecological and environmental influence has been steadily increasing. The spatial expansion and higher population and housing density of cities with its multiplier effect on land use and land cover change (LUCC) have been recognized as the most important aspects of cities climate change which is triggered by the need for urban services provision for the influx of human population. The shortages of housing in particular, and other urban services provision is the fundamental cause and effects of development of illegal and informal settlements. With analysis from empirical study in Eldoret town, the study discusses the need for urban land regularization as a requisite to combat the driving forces for formation of informal settlements and its impacts on cities climate. After presenting a series of concepts and definitions related to urban land informality and illegality, standardization and tenure security from the literature, we then discuss the data methods for the study. A detail of the research results focusing on the nature and the impacts of informal and illegal settlement in both the city centre and the hinterlands using the UN Habitat Slum indicators is presented. We conclude on implication cities climate change dynamics ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Five years ago a family vacation to Jamaica changed the way I saw everything and made me appreciate the people I love and where I come from. It all started with the worst airplane ride. About thirty minutes into the ride the flight attendant started going around offering snacks. These purple potato chips caught my eye so that s what I decided to get. I should have known something so bright couldn t have been good to eat. I instantly regretted eating the chip after taking a bite out of that awfully weird tasting potato chip because immediately after, I felt a striking pain in my lower abdomen. I tried to relieve the pain by loosening the seat belt buckle. I drank gingerale, tried to position myself differently to feel less discomfort but nothing helped. My brother was too busy on his I pad to care, my other brother was too young to formulate proper sentences and my mom was too far gone in her sleep, she couldn t have been any help fresh out of slumber. I just rocked back and forth releasing oohs and ah s here and there because the pain was intolerable. I kept on for the remaining three hour flight weeping and wincing, trying to keep quiet so I wouldn t disturb anyone. Landing in Jamaica was supposed to be exciting, but how could I be excited when I was in pain. My mom, two younger brothers and I were waiting for my uncle to arrive and take us to his house, so I took this opportunity to tell my mom what was going on. She believed that it might just be cramps so she buys me two bottles of ginger beerwhich is like the ginger aleof Jamaica, So I drank and I drank and I drank but nothing happened. My uncle finally arrived after 15 minutes of chugging down the ginger beer. We were settling in my uncle s house and my mom tried everything she could to make me feel better. She made tea, gave me more ginger beer, and a hot pack for my stomach but nothing worked. There are many examples of how this technique can contribute to our life. For instance, in today s music lessons and tests, we often rely on people s hearing ability to judge whether a piano player performed well based on whether the notes played are accurate or not. And different ways and techniques are used in attempt to solve this problem efficiently and accurately. In an effort to provide a clear picture of what has been done, we will categorize different approaches based on technique used. The classic starting point for the problem of unsupervised piano transcription where the test instrument is not seen during training, is a non negative factorization of the acoustic signal s spectrogram [1]. Most research work has been improving on this baseline in the one of the following two ways: better modeling of the discrete musical structure of the piece being transcribed [2,3] or by better adapting to the timbral properties of the source instrument [4,5]. Combining the above two approaches are difficult. Hidden Markov or semi Markov models are widely used as the standard approach to model discrete musical structures. This approach needs fast dynamic programming for inference. To combine discrete models with timbral adaption and source separation, it would break the conditional independence assumptions that dynamic programming rely on. Previous research work to avoid this inference problem typically postpones detailed modeling the discrete structure of timbre ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
