In May of 1998, Kipland Kinkel brought a gun to his school. Over the course of two days this
escalated from: being sent home, to murdering his father and mother, to murdering 2 students and
wounding 26, earning a lifetime sentence of 111 years and 8 months in prison. In the court case being
examined, the presiding judge addresses the original case, defendants ground for appeal, and the
justification for the State s decision to deny the appeal. Judge Haselton effectively uses ethos, logos,

threats of failing, the student s will want to put in the effort to able to pass their classes. The only way
students can turn their worthless time of education is to getting the help of the parents and teachers to
able to succeed on being better students in school. More high school teachers should start using the
threat of failing students so that the educational industry get lower rates of dropouts and higher rates
of graduating.
First, Failing High School students is a good way to have them get that fear, but not only that it can
help them value their education and work harder for a passing grade. For instance, Thomas R. Hoerr
states, We create opportunities for success for those students and help them see what they can achieve
(41). Students who fool around where they don t pay attention but want to pass by not doing no work
effort, they will change their attitude by getting the failing grade with a strict teacher that will actually

Narration and point of view play a large role in the acceptance of a story. When the author writes the
novel in first person, it gives the reader an immediate connection to the protagonist. A third person
narration is more believable. The reader is being told a story without any personal bias from the

intelligence. The practical uses for computers making their own decisions is a very important
technology to develop, because this would allow the deployment of robots in environments too harsh

good idea, true human intelligence will be very difficult to reach. While a computer could have the
ability to assess situations and communicate like a human, it would never be able to use common

also be near impossible to program a computer to use it s decision making to form it s own opinions
and values as a human can.
