Why African American Are The Leading Race For Infant...
Introduction Infant mortality rate constitutes the death of a baby before their first birthday. Mortality
rates around the world differ tremendously with America leading the first world countries at an
alarming rate of 6.1 deaths per 1,000 births. Conversely, Finland and Japan secure the last, most
desirable position, with deaths totaling 2.3 per 1,000 births, as of 2010. (Ovaska Few, 2015) In 2014,
over 23,000 babies died in the United States. (CDC, 2016) Exploring the mortality rates in America
brings light to a dire need for additional interventions and research as to why this developing nation
has the highest rate of infant deaths before the age of 1 year old. African Americans face the worst
outcomes of infant death compared to whites, Latino, and their Native American peers in North
Carolina. (Ovaska Few, 2015) This paper will explore why African American are the leading race for
infant mortality and the steps that health communities need to take to address this devastating
occurrence.
Demographic Characteristics of the North Carolina Population
As of 2014, North Carolina ranks as the 8th worst state for infant mortality in the United States with a
slight improvement from holding the number one position in 1988. (Health Start Foundation, 2014) As
infant mortality rate is broken down by demographics and ethnicity a clearer picture opens the doors
of perception and explores preventative measures for this at risk population. African Americans
represent 22% of North

The Film Spotlight And How This Film Does The Freedom Of...
As stated in the Constitution of United States of America of 1789; Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the
freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the
Government for a redress of grievances. Focusing on the freedom of speech , or of the press it s
important to note that the media holds powerful entities whether that be individuals, government,
businesses, or the Catholic Church accountable for their illegal or dishonest behavior. To analyze this
statement, I will be focusing on the film Spotlight and how this film reiterates the idea of holding and

Paul/ Minneapolis, MN.
Throughout the movie there are a couple of themes that arise that I believe need to be addressed
before focusing on how the media holds institutions accountable. The first theme I d like to focus on is
the crisis of Faith. The character Mike, had an interesting and powerful character arc. Once Mike sees
the files that declare the church was guilty of abuse, he loses his religious Faith . This loss of Faith is
especially difficult for a man raised Catholic in one of the most Catholic of cities. The net result is that
Mike doubles down on his secular faith in the journalistic investigative process on which he has
embarked. His drive to get to the truth kicks his faith in the investigation process into an even higher
gear. Further, it s not just an individual s turn, it s an entire generations turn as well to face the crises
of Faith . The priests abuse was horrific. This is and should be a story about the victims permanent
scars. The film also shows how the church s cover up has furthered the very erosion of the institution
they were trying to protect. Mike in that sense stands in for many who lost their Faith in the wake of
the abuse scandal, Faith in the Catholic church, Faith and trust in the Priests who lead and represent
the church, even Faith in God .
Complicity and infallibility in regards to the contrast between the two major institutions, church and
press existed

Hodgkin’s Disease Essay
Hodgkin s Disease
Cancers arising from the lymph nodes or other sites of lymphoid tissue are broadly termed
lymphomas. This group of diseases is divided into Hodgkin s disease and non Hodgkin s lymphoma.
In both conditions, there is a replacement of normal lymphatic tissue by collections of abnormal
lymphoma cells.
The lymphatic system are a complex network of specialised cells and organs that defend the body
against infection. Lymphatic organs include the bone marrow, spleen, thymus gland, lymph nodes,
tonsils, adenoids, appendix and clumps of tissue in the small bowel. A function of the lymphatic
system is to nurture and mature the B and T lymphocytes (white blood cells vital to immune function).
Cancerous changes can take place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some instances, the nodes may spontaneously increase and decrease in size.
Because Hodgkin s disease is associated with a defect in the maturation of the lymphocyte, the
immune system may be impaired. As such repeated infections may occur. Symptoms
The symptoms of Hodgkin s disease frequently depend upon the stage of disease. Staging defines the
extent to which the disease has spread throughout the body. Moreover, it often determines which
treatment(s) will be required.
Hodkins has 4 distinct stages of Hodgkin s disease, these being stages 1 4. Each stage is further
defined as exhibiting either A or B symptoms. These symptoms refer to either the absence of A or
presence of B unexplained weight loss in the preceding 6 months, fever greater than 38°C, and or
night sweats.
Tumour suppressor genes: In health this family of genes usually act as a counter balance for
oncogenesis. It is thought that they may be responsible for repairing gene damage in cells, or are
growth inhibitor genes. In Hodgkin s disease, there are often evidences of mutation in tumour
suppressor genes as well as other genes.
Stage 1.
Stage 1 Hodgkin s disease affects a single lymph node or lymph node region. The lymph nodes most
commonly affected are the nodes in the neck, armpits or groin.
Stage 2.
Stage 2 disease is associated with lymph node involvement in 2 or more regions. However, the nodes
must be involved in only one side of the

The Disagreements Between Ron And Leslie
Ron and Leslie are a wonderful example of how two people can work with one another even if they do
not agree on everything. They bicker, they compete, and they occasionally have full blown arguments,
but they are always honest and professional about their disagreements. Between Leslie s passion and
Ron s authority, they trade off between winning and losing arguments. Linda Holmes, NPR writer,
explains that as the show progresses, [Leslie s] been fleshed out from a cartoonishly goofy boss to a
warmly devoted but still funny and skewed public servant. Her relationship with Ron Swanson has
become more equal, more respectful, with more give and take, and that s all made the show funnier
and better. I believe that people have a tendency to

Similarities And Differences Between Greek Architecture...
Greek architecture and roman architecture have been in touch with each other due to their Similarities
and differences between their civilizations as the temples and other structures. Both groups used to
define their own ideas by using their own thinking and structure creations. One way to compare and
contrast between greek architecture and roman architecture is to discuss the 3 main points such as
buildings types, material used and art and style The temples of the greek architecture is the most
remaining example for the buildings types. It was also built to be an art of honor to their gods, they
also have ornated these temples on the outside only. While the roman buildings still preserved
nowdays due to the creative materials, such as concrete. They have many public spaces like
bathhouses, amphitheaters which where for sporting events and aqueducts. Romans architects have

Mentoring in the Workplace
Executive Summary Some major business executives may say that earlier in their career they
established a mentor relationship that helped them to get to where they are in their career. Research
has shown that this statement can be true for some executives but not for all. Some experts believe that
just having mentor relationships can or cannot affect someone s career path and development. The
purpose of this paper is to explain exactly what mentoring is and how it successful works within the
workplace environment. Using support from various scholarly articles, I was able to discuss define the
concept of mentoring and how it relates within the workplace setting. Using this concept, I establish
the role of the mentor and mentee in regards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Communication is key at the beginning of the relationship, mentees have to express to their mentors
their needs, future goals, and the kind of help they want from the mentoring relationship (Moore,
Miller, Pitchford Jeng 2008, p.78). Mentees should not be consumed with having the perfect mentor,
but should use their energy to invest in the mentoring relationship, and give it time to grow and
develop where trust and respect are one in the same (Janasz, Sullivan, Whiting, 2003, p. 84). Mentors
and mentees should establish a structure to their relationship in order for both parties to achieve
something out of it.
Establishment of Mentoring Relationships When a company establishes a corporate mentoring
program there are some factors that have to be considered. There has to be an understanding of the
organizational dynamics, and use these dynamics to create strategy, process, and programs for the
mentoring relationships (Friday Friday, 2002, p.154) The purpose of having a strategy for corporate
mentoring is to have it align with the objectives and long term goals of the organization. Without an
efficient strategy in place there cannot be a process or programs established. Once a mentoring
program is established, the organization should decide what type of mentoring relationship they want
to institute. There are two types of mentoring relationships, informal and formal. An informal
mentoring relationship is one that is not created

Honda Motor Corporation Is Doing It Right
Honda Motor Corporation is doing it right. Honda is a very well known in Japan and around the world

the world. When someone mentions that they purchased a Honda, one probably thinks about reliable,
affordability, and exceptionally designed automobile. However, one of the key factors in the company
s success is the fact that they have been successful in the international business environment. The car
giant has expanded it s manufacturing plants and process to other countries such as the United States,
China, Pakistan, Canada, South Africa just to name a few. However, the personal and business culture
of the Japanese is extremely had to duplicate in other countries, and Honda had to understand that

Honda had to execute a global strategy that would be effective in that country. Honda has always done
their due diligence when it comes to hiring and developing talent and when it comes to Honda

The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance
Introduction
HERO, the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance, according to the City of Houston Equal Rights
Ordinance (2014), covers nondiscrimination against sex, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age,
familial status, marital status, military status, religion, disability, sexual orientation, genetic
information, gender identity, and pregnancy. The ordinance lists sections of protection within city
services and employment, contracting with the city, public accommodations, private employment, and
housing (Exh A, 2014). (Ord. No. 2014 530, § 2(Exh A), 5 28 2014)
Although the ordinance protects several classes of people within five separate categories, the
ordinance became the policy in favor of men in women s bathrooms. With a lot of attention on
transgender people within the last year alone, the media was able to manipulate public perception by
focusing on one aspect of the ordinance. Many Houstonians, still weary of the LGBTQ community
and ill informed, were fully against the ordinance, claiming to defend their women and children
against predators. Voters believed the ordinance created an open door for sex crime to increase in the
city. Consequently, the ordinance failed to pass with a 60% opposing vote. The ordinance for equality
should have passed, however, Houstonians focused only on their false perceptions and myths of sexual
predators, such as strangers and queers.

Analysis Of The Book Stiglitz A Recipient Of The Nobel...
Stiglitz, a recipient of the Nobel Prize in Economics, and Andrew Charlton, a fellow economist,
propose a new, radical solution to world trade problems a solution that brings equilibrium to the
trading relationships between the poorest and richest countries. The book contains an in depth, college
level understanding of fair trade and its theoretical applications on third world countries. With regards
to theoretical applications, the book elaborates on the proposal, which is fair trade, and how it can
initiate development in a country. Besides providing a holistic and substantive perspective on fair
trade, the book also expounds on the effects of globalization on world trade and the development of
third world countries. The book is useful to the study, as it will provide a clearer and better
understanding of fair trade and support the arguments in the study. The main limitation of the study is
that the book covers a wide area fair trade, world trade, and third world countries, without going in
depth to labor rights abuse.
Formed from the decimation of industrial jobs and farm incomes due to the unjust terms of trade and
arrangements in the Philippines, Fair Trade Alliance elaborates on how fair trade can elevate the
Philippines and other similar countries economic status sustainably. The book provides a college level
understanding of the trade methods of solving economic problems. To combat the ill effects of
globalization on the economy of the Philippines, the book

Spanish American Cuban War Essay
The War of 1898, also known as the Spanish American Cuban War, was a three year long battle for
Cuba s independence from Spain. Before the Cubans could, most likely, win the battle on their own
terms, America swooped in and took on Spain with only four months in the war remaining. But
America saw another problem after the war with Cubans ruling themselves. So America created the
Platt Amendment and inserted them in Cuba s constitution, saying that it was purely for Cuba s safety
against civil struggles or attacks from other military powers. These are only some of the few historical
or historiographical perspectives that ignore Louise Perez Jr arguments that the United States had
different motives for involving themselves in the War. When Cuba started fighting against Spain for
independence, America claimed they admired Cuba s passion for liberation. It reminded America of it
s own origins, making Americans believe it was their duty to help the Cuban people. Or at least this
was the noble image that the American government wanted to project and that the American people
greatly believed. As Perez states in his work, The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
America had no need to involve itself at the point in time that it did. The only real reason that America
had inserted itself into the war against Spain was for personal gain. But America could not find it in
themselves to state that as their purpose for entering in the war. So they began to create an image of
being the selfless, white knights of Cuba. As Perez states, The perceptions of war in 1898, however,
did not enter the realm of public comprehension as a defense of national interests but rather as the
discharge of moral responsibilities . (pg.35) However, since Cuba had acquired independence shortly
after America s lended its support, America had to find a new excuse for staying in Cuba. This is when

Edgar Allan Poe s Rabies
Edgar Allen Poe was a great poet that lived a rough life. Poe had lost many of his loved ones
throughout his life and many were due to tuberculosis. Poe was very poor when he lived by himself
and became an alcoholic. He had died when he was 40 years old and people believe that it was due to
alcoholism or rabies. I believe that Poe had died of Rabies/Encephalitis because he had all of the
symptoms of rabies and it was confirmed by doctors. It had been confirmed by doctors that Poe had
died from encephalitic rabies. Poe had all of the features of encephalitis rabies said Dr. Henry Wilde .
This quote means that if a doctor had confirmed that Poe had all of the symptoms of rabies, then he
most likely died from it. According to Dr. Moran, one of its senior physicians diagnosed Poe s
condition as encephalitis. This means that Poe could have died from encephalitic rabies. Dr. Benitez
said that he does not admit that the lack of bite or scratch is a weakness in his theory that Edgar Allen
Poe may have died of rabies. I think that Dr. Benitez is saying that there is a possibility that Poe could

The Grandmother In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
O Connor s succeeds to bring out his arguments in this short story to sum up the feeling that in today s
world, societal morals and values have drastically crumbled making the world an inhabitable place.
INTRODUCTION
The author presents his main theme of fate by bringing the reader to a family s holiday which is
unfortunately brought to a sudden end by a murder (O Connor 36). The grandmother argues that the
family should go to Tennessee instead of Florida. Her insistence makes the family to deviate from the
right path in an attempt to look for a fake treasure. The rebelliousness the family exhibits is a sign of
moral decadence. The grandmother s decision makes the family appear like it admires the Misfit. At

compares himself to Jesus where he says that Jesus suffered for other people s sins just the same way
he got punished for mistakes he never did. The theme that a good man is hard to find undoubtedly

Themes In Snowpiercer
Bong Joon ho s 2013 science fiction film, Snowpiercer, based in a graphic novel of the same name,
offers a look into a frozen future where the last of mankind lives on an evermoving locomotive. It s a
contemporary film focused around the theme of classism in society, driven by metaphors for where we
are and where we are going. With an almost mashup of Orwell meeting the 99%, the story focuses on
the inhabitants of the suppressed population of the train s tail section, led by Chris Evans Curtis,
revolting against the forward living. The film s narrative in relation to its theme is the focal point of
the film and it s main driving force. By using a linear narrative, Joon ho allows the story to move
forward as the characters move towards the front of train. With each decision Curtis makes, the
blocking of his movements is always in a forward motion. He is always looking forward because he

Antigone Tragic Hero
Heroes emit an undefinable energy that can attract anyone. Their sense of attraction does not stem
from their physical physique, but instead an internal light. Even the most virtuous character is destined
for downfall, due to one mistake or tragic flaw. In Sophocles Antigone, many are quick to crown
Antigone with the title of tragic hero, this is because in a world where no one expelled courage she
did. Antigone s act of going against Kreon by burying Polyneices was a sign of foolish loyalty to the
gods, but not enough to make her a tragic hero. Her sister, Ismene, is the true tragic hero. Although
Ismene can be considered a foil character, Ismene s tragic flaws, loneliness and weakness, make her a
tragic hero. Her dire need of affection and companionship are catalyst in her willingness to do
anything and lack of rational thinking. I did it. If she is with me now, I share the blame with her and
will bear it also (lines 657 658). Ismene s confession to Kreon was a lie. What is life when I ve lost
you? What is there to love in life? (lines 673 674) This line elaborates on why she lied and shows
evidence that her deception was merely motivated by her fear of being alone. Ismene s loneliness

of Health and Human Services (HHS) conducts an annual National Household Survey on Drug Abuse
(NHSDA) that asks individuals living in households about their drug and alcohol use and their
involvement in crimes. Provisional data for 1997 show that respondents arrested in the past year for
possession or sale of drugs had the highest percentage of illicit drug use in the past year. Past year
illicit drug users were also about 16 times more likely than nonusers to report being arrested and
booked for larceny or theft; more than 14 times more likely to be arrested and booked for such
offenses as driving under the influence, drunkenness, or liquor law violations; and more than 9 times
more likely to be arrested and booked on an assault charge. The National Institute of Justice (NIJ)
Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring (ADAM) Program measures drug use among arrestees by
calculating the percentage of arrestees with positive urine tests for drug use. Data collected from male
arrestees in 1998 in 35 cities showed that the percentage for any drug ranged from 42.5% to 78.7%.
Female arrestees testing positive ranged from 33.3% to

The Old World Position On The Creation Of Everything
The Old World position on the creation of everything is backed by the most evidence, both biblically
and scientifically, when compared to the other positions of theism and New World creationism. This is
due to the fact that the other two positions end up ignoring or denying points of significant proofs that
their counterparts present. However, the Old Earth position accepts and explains parts of the other
creationism viewpoints. It does not deny the possibility of evolution, or Genesis 1 2, saying that they
do not contradict each other and both can exist at the same time. It also takes some of its own belief
from others, explaining that the Earth is billions of years old. This is further compounded upon with
the explanation of the six days of creation is not taken literally, rather that they each are an extended
period of time. All of this leads to the defense of the Bible not being a historical timeline, but it being
a guidebook to understanding God and everything that he does. This also justifies the scientific
outlook on the creation story. Like how humanity is always discovering new substances and species,
information on the origin of the universe is yet to be found. When compared to the other viewpoints of
creationism, the Old World position has the most evidence. New World and theistic approaches to the
origin story have their own pros and cons, but they both have glaring weaknesses. They both ignore
and deny the existence of evidence from the other viewpoints. The

Snow Goose Overpopulation Essay
The Overpopulation of the Snow Goose in North America
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to explore available research on the overpopulation of the Snow Goose on
the North American continent. The snow goose has been rising in population since the middle of the
century and has been escalating so much it is destroying their natural habitat. Wildlife managers have
just recently begun to implement strategies to combat this problem. Mainly through the use of hunters
the managers are trying to curb the population growth.
Introduction
There are three main species of Snow Goose of primary concern. The Lesser Snow Goose (LSGO) is
the must abundant and at the same time most troublesome. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The population of Greater Snow Goose has reached 612,000 from around 50,000 in the mid 1960 s.
Ross Goose has increased from 8,000 in 1957 to nearly 500,000 in 1995 (Abraham and Jeffries). The
Texas Department of Fish and Wildlife states that the population of wintering snow geese has
remained constant. They imply this is due to the fact that the geese have spread their winter range into
other states (TWDS 1999). As indicated earlier it is very hard to count wintering birds because such a

Factors contributing to High Population
The snow goose problem is a wildlife manager s nightmare. Through prudent restrictions on birds
taken as game, and the increase in refuges coupled with excellent habitat in the birds entire range. It is
estimated that there is nearly 900,000 ha of rice fields over the snow goose s winter range (Abraham
and Jeffries 1998). This is in addition to the typical salt marsh wintering ground. Abraham and Jeffries
suggest that farther to the North in states like Nebraska and North Dakota the conversion of grassland
prairie into cereal grains has provided a tremendous amount of food for the geese. In addition it has
also blurred the area typically considered the wintering range. It may also

The Tragedy Of Euripides Medea
Euripides Medea is considered, according to Aristotle s Poetics, a tragedy. The play centers on Medea,
an outsider and wife to Jason, who seeks to punish Jason for taking another wife. The play is
considered a tragedy because it contains the three unities as well as the six elements of drama
mentioned by Aristotle. Despite the fact that the does the play fits the criteria of what Aristotle
considers tragedy, however, Medea is actually not a tragedy but tells the story about a successful
revenge. In the Poetics, Aristotle has established a criteria consisting of four requirements that
character must have to be considered the tragic hero. Medea, however, is not a tragic character
because she does not possess two of the four requirements: goodness and correctness. Aristotle s first
requirement of goodness states: The persons wit[ have character ifin the way previousty stated their
speech or their action reveals the moraI quality of some choice, and good character if a good choice
(Aristotle 130). Having a good character will allow provoke pity and fear in a tragedy. Medea
however does not possess the good quality. She does not express it through the course of the play in
her actions. In the opening of the play, the nurse makes it known that she wished that the Argo never
had set sail (1) which indicates the idea that the only time Medea was possibly good is before Jason
set sail to seek the golden pelt for Pelias (6 7). Medea fell in love with him and because of it

The Prince And The Last Days Of Socrates
A Questionable Principality In The Prince and The Last Days of Socrates, Niccolò Machiavelli and
Socrates give their respective personal discourses on what makes an effective leader and what are
favorable practices of politics. Although both men have intense nationalism and agree on the ends of
their operations being a prosperous principality, it is how they plan to get there, in which the two men
differ. Machiavelli believes in a cautious, unexamined approach to statecraft where the ends justify the
means while Socrates believes in a ruler that is questioned by his people, examines every viable option
available, and adheres to a morally correct code of ethics that is driven by the betterment of the soul
over the benefit of one s state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than just basing his rule entirely off of successful predecessors, Socrates would utilize their
methods to formulate his own strategies in a more forward thinking manner. Socrates would examine
various other means to get to the same end of establishing power and dominance amongst his people,
rather than concluding that the method used by Cesare Borgia was the right course of action in the
given situation. He would look at Borgia s exercise in power and question what the man could have
done as an alternative to killing his minster. Would it be exiling him? Or perhaps question he would
this man like he would do to the so called wise men of Athens and try to catch him in a lie? These are
means that Machiavelli failed to consider in lieu of blindly following the example of rulers past. Thus,
Socrates would consider Machiavelli s reliance on historical examples to be not enough when it comes
to a successful political system, and would passionately disagree with the unexamined regime the
Florentine endorses. In a Machiavellian society, it doesn t matter how one produces a prosperous
principality as long as the people are happy, the state is militarily stable, and the prince s jurisdiction is
unhindered by any impending aggression towards his rule. If it requires a

Marker Dna Investigation
To begin the lab, marker DNA, crime scene DNA, and suspect DNA was collected for analysis. The
goal for the experiment was to distinguish the perpetrator of the crime through the observation of the
DNA in each suspect. In order to do this, each collection of the certain DNA was initially stained in
order for it to be visible and separated into smaller fragments with restriction enzymes. Gel
electrophoresis was used to separate the DNA molecules based on size. To do this, a micropipette and
agarose gel were utilized. The micropipette collected 10 microliters of each DNA at a time and was
meticulously placed inside a well of the porous gel. After one specific DNA was used, it was ensured
that the DNA from that collection did not contaminate the other through the use of the micropipette.

The marker DNA contained DNA fragments whose base pairs and size were previously known. Thus,
when it is separated through gel electrophoresis, the strands visible can be compared to the other DNA
strands and the size of the adjacent strands can be estimated. A semi log graph was utilized to
determine the unknown DNA fragment sizes. The distances migrated, and the DNA fragment size of
the marker DNA was first plotted. Then, a line of best fit was drawn for reference. The distance the
DNA fragments of crime scene DNA, suspect one s DNA, and suspect two s DNA had traveled
through the agarose gel was calculated. Once those values were known, the points along the line of
best fit that were intersected by the x axis values of the distance traveled by the DNA fragments were
the estimated sizes of the separated DNA fragments. Once the sizes were discovered, the data was
observed in order to exonerate and implicate a suspect. After observation, suspect one was exonerated
as suspect two s DNA fragments closely resembled and matched up with those in the crime scene

Notes On Inerrancy And Inspiration Essay
Fedner Faustin

THEO 201 B01
Short Essay on Inerrancy and Inspiration
Men, as worshipping creatures, are always looking for a supreme being to adore. They always are
looking for the source of truth, and asking many questions regarding what they should believe because
there are many sects out there which teach different doctrines, or even deny the deity of God and
worship other gods. When it comes to the Holy Bible, people are digging further in the outside world
to get some responses that are themselves found in the Bible. One of the questions that is asked the
most is: « Does the Bible really have Authority? ». The Bible is the word of God. As it says in the
Bible, the word of God is authoritative, inspired and inerrant.
Authority in a general sense means the power to decide or to command, to impose one s will to others.
As far as the Bible is concerned, it is also authoritative in almost the same way. The authority of God
can be seen in two angles; first, God has the authority over everything, he does whatever He wants. In
Psalms 135:6, it says; Whatever the LORD pleases, He does, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in
all deeps. As it can be seen, everything that is written in the bible has accomplished or is being
accomplished. What God says with is mouth His hands accomplish them. Second, the authority of his
word is infallible; it cannot be broken. His words will stay forever. In John 10:35 (KJV), the last
sentence says, ...and the scripture cannot be broken.

Grant s Strategy For Union Victory Over Frederick The...
without concert, like a balky team, no two ever pulling together. Further, Grant wrote, that Union
forces had seventeen distinct commanders. Before this time these various armies had acted separately
and independently of each other, giving the enemy an opportunity often of depleting one command,
not pressed, to reinforce another more actively engaged. I determined to stop this. Grant then
immediately provided for a coordinated simultaneous advance of all forces with the main armies
strengthened as much as possible by reducing subsidiary forces previously cordoned for defensive
purposes. While he may not have been intentionally channeling Jominian ideas, Grant s strategy for
Union victory has been compared by historians with the Jominian prescription for victory over
Frederick the Great. Since the Confederates were vigorous in applying the principle of concentration
on successive lines of operations in order to defeat Union forces, Grant s strategy had to be directed to
preventing these Confederate concentrations. Grant s strategy was founded on nullifying the South s
principal means of defense, the Jominian shifting of forces successively from one line of operations to
another. Grant, in fact, was applying Jomini s prescription for victory by Daun over Frederick
coordination, and an invasion into the heart of his states. Grant s plans concentrated on two lines of
operations, Virginia and Georgia, and looked for success on only one of them. To prevent Lee

Why Is Chris Mccandless Attracted To The Wild
Why is the wilderness such an attraction to people like Chris McCandless? Usually people like living
in houses and being inside. Some people would think that living by yourself in the wilderness is crazy,
but some people have a wanderlust for the wilderness. People who love the wilderness would say it s a
way to get away from society and be free. Chris McCandless is a person who is attracted to the
wilderness. The wilderness is a place where you are free of the bad people in society, you can live by

The wilderness attracts people because you are free. Chris McCandless leaves his home and family so

Child Development Theories
Child Development: An Examination of Three Theories There are a lot of theories regarding child
development. Three of these theories are Bioecological Theory, Social Cognitive Theory and
Information Processing Theory. This paper will discuss these theories by comparing and contrasting
them. The first theory is the Bioecological Theory developed by Urie Bronfenbrenner. This theory is
based on the nature vs. nurture idea. Bronfenbrenner believed development of a child was determined
by the relationships among the environment or environmental systems around them. Within this
environment there are five distinct systems which are related to a child s relationship with the school
environment, family environment and their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the inclusion of these three theories among others, into the mental health care field one can see
the similarities of these theories. All three of these theories deal with the environment of a child, the
learning process by which the child was exposed, the development of the cognitive ability of the child
and by the social development of the child. All three theories believe the environment plays an
important part in the cognitive development of children. They each believe it has an impact on how
the child learns and develops. They all agree when there is a disruption of the process such as the child
being subjected to mental or physical neglect or abuse the child can grow to be developmentally
challenged or develop a mental illness as a result. What may be harder to determine is the differences
in these three theories. The outcome of each would seem to be the same. Each theory is based on
cognitive development and the relationship the environment has on that development. What we may
need to look at is how these three theories seem to think this development is attained. With
Brofenbrenner s theory of Bioecological development, he believed a child goes through five distinct
systems and learns their cognitive ability within each system while being exposed to the environment

Aristotle Rational Animals
I do agree with proposition 3: Humans are rational animals and proposition 4: Reasoning and speech
are perfects of ration animals. Man, is a rational animal because he possesses the power of speech.
Other animals use their voice to express their pain and pleasure, but only human voices are charged
with reason. Speech is a signal of the rational ability to determine what is just or unjust, as well as
harmful or unharmful to the peculiar man. This allows a rational man, with the help of other rational
people to decide what is right and wrong. If Aristotle associates rational animals with happiness and
politics, then the notion of rationality informs what Aristotle perceives to be a mans telos with is

Similarities Between Australia And South Korea
Australia s economy is much better then South Korea s. This essay will be comparing five different
areas of the economy. These include economic growth and the quality of life, employment and
unemployment, distribution of income, environmental sustainability and the role the government in
health care, education and social welfare. Income is a necessity to achieve higher living standards.
Australia s average household income is 31 197 USD per year, South Korea s average household
income is only 18 035 USD per year. Australia and Koreas employment rates are relatively similar,
over 72% of Australians aged between 15 64 have a paid job, and 64% of Koreans aged between 15

Economic Growth and Quality of Life.
Economic growth is defined as an increase in the amount of goods and services produced per head of
the population over a period of time. This can happen many different ways. For example, if Australia

Some Recyclable Materials
According to Pichtel (2005), unwanted materials in the recycled process can affect in a negative way
the outcomes of the recycle process and can be hazardous to workers. In addition, some industries will
not accept low levels of contamination and some other industries just remove foreign material.
Contamination affects the quality and recyclability of products since unwanted materials can damage
the products. Recycled Paper According to Pichtel (2005), Paper products comprise by far the
majority of the municipal solid waste stream about 38% of U.S MSW p.131. Contamination in
recycled paper is terrible since financial issues could arise, since more money would need to be used
in order to make more paper and the health and safety of employees could be at risk. When recycled
paper is contaminated is when the paper is soiled with food, chemicals etc. This contamination does
not help the environment since more trees would need to be planted. For example, according to Pichtel
(2005), Seventeen trees are required to produce 1 ton of paper . Furthermore, when paper is recycled
toxic wastes are reduced since paper from scratch won t have to be produced. In order to reduce
contamination in recycled paper, more awareness is needed. For example, in the US there are a lot
people from different countries. Some of these countries do not have recycle programs, so these
people are not aware of the consequences of mixing paper with food and other chemicals. The US is

Pearl Harbor Attack
In 1945, the United States had declared war on Japan after they had attacked Pearl Harbor. Since
Japan was an island, the U.S. wouldn t be able to directly attack them. It was too far away for an air
raid and naval raids would be too predictable and wouldn t work. So, the United States had to think of
a way to attack the Japanese. They decided that since the Japanese were still fighting against other
countries, they could attack the smaller islands surrounding Japan. The U.S. thought that these islands
would be less defended by the Japanese. The United States felt like they could use these islands to
provide a strong area for attacks on the Japanese mainland. This counter offensive attack was known
as the island hopping campaign. The United States were led by Admiral Chester W. Nimitz and
Douglas MacArthur. An island that the U.S. was strongly looking at was Iwo Jima. Iwo Jima already
had 3 airstrips on it, so they saw it as the perfect place to attack. Iwo Jima was an island located about
810 miles south east of Japan. It was part of an island chain called the Japanese Volcano Islands. It
measures about 5 miles long and has an area of about 8 square miles, which is about 8,000 times
smaller than Wisconsin. It ranges from 800 yards to 2.5 miles in width. Iwo Jima was widely known

Japan publically denied the existence of comfort women for years. Although the fight to bring justice

The UN Commission found after their investigation that Japan had, at the very least, violated the
International Labor Organization convention against forced labor that they had ratified in 1932. From
1993 94 the Japanese government tried unsuccessfully to establish a system to raise compensation
funds from NGO s which the movement rejected. It wasn t until August of 1995 when the then
Japanese president announced the Murayama plan to pay victims out of a private fund that many
women who were formally opposed decided to accept the payment. Once they accepted the payment
however suits were filed in Japanese courts that the compensation was too small for the damages
incurred but the suits were quickly overturned. The Japanese courts claimed that the women were well
over the statute of limitations for the crimes and they could not use the evidence of violation found by
the UN because international human rights laws pertained to countries, not individuals. Around 2000,
a private tribunal was set up by several NGO s which included several international judges and
prosecutors and ruled that there are no statute of limitations on crimes against humanity and charged
Japan with institutionalized sex slavery based on the Convention Concerning Forced Labor and the

Masturbation And Sexual Pleasure During The 19th Century
April Haynes lectured and wrote about masturbation and sexual pleasure in the 19th century. She
covered the history behind the women led reformation of sexual pleasure and desire in women, and
spoke about the anti masturbation movement, which was surprisingly lead by women in the same era.
I found these talks to be very interesting in that they covered a discrepancy between the wonder of
sex, and the female reintroduction to knowledge about their body, and anti masturbation, which was
an ideology enforced by women of that time. An overarching theme in the 19th century was the
ideology of passionlessness. This claimed that women were incapable of experiencing sexual pleasure,
and had no sexual desire. It was prevalent throughout the early 19th century, but middle class
reformers shifted this view in the 1830s. Male lecturers used to only give men talks about their own
sexual bodies, but the reform was headed by these lecturers as well. They began to speak about
woman s sexual bodies, emphasizing that women have as much sexual desire as men, and could
achieve orgasm through hetrosexual sex. Women from the middle class, and lower middle class,
attended these lectures to gather information on their own bodies. 19th century women did not know
about their own bodies as they did in the past, which attracted women to these lectures, in an attempt
to re obtain this held knowledge. The popularity of these lectures not only caused a reform against the
ideology of passionlessness, but

Privacy Issues On The Internet
Privacy issues on the internet has always been a concern, especially when it comes to data that could
be used to exploit myself or my family. One of my primary concern in the has always been some
unscrupulous person getting my personal information and ruining my credit, but after reading Blown
to Bits it looks like I have more to watch out for a lot of the companies I trust and do business with on
a daily basis too. Since I was in my early 20 s I always worried about my credit because I learned
from a friend s personal experience just how hard it was to repair credit after it was ruined, even if it
was no fault of your own. A lot of my fears has been overridden by the ease of use of credit cards to

Why JROTC Is Important To Me
JROTC matter to me in many ways. I feel like I have more respect after taking JROTC for awhile. It
gives me better attitude and leads me with how I m suppose to be in public. It may be hard at first, but
it s not gonna let me down. I ve learned so many things in this class and it help me to be more focus
on my school works. Most of the time at home, I would behave like a kid and I like being like that. It s
fun for me and it help me to make myself happy when I feel down. I may behave like a kid but I also
have an adult behavior in me. The thing is that I don t like to use my adult behavior because most of
the time, I m in a bad mood and it messed up my attitude. Being in JROTC class is somewhat a
helpful way to change my life. I would say ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I just want to stay quiet as I always did and try to focus on studies. It s hard for me to focus because I
don t have much attention this year. But being in JROTC help me to behave myself and encourage me
to be out of my shell. It is good to be brave to talk to anybody and make friends in the company.
Teamwork is the best thing for a company and it really help to accomplish anything in the company.
Around the community, my behavior is still the same as I always has it in me. I don t really have any
attention this year. I would drive around but most of the time, I lost attention on driving and I wouldn t
know that I went through stop sign without stopping. When I hang out with my friends, I would
remember what I ve learned in JROTC. It is the best thing to respect one another, especially the best to
respect the adults.
I am really glad to be in JROTC this year. I ve learned so many things about how to live in this word.
It changed my thought through everything that I haven t know about. When I think about my freshman
year being in JROTC for the first time, I shouldn t have dropped out this class. Either way, I m happy
to be back in JROTC this year and I ll look forward to have this class again next year for the last year
of my high school

does not seem to like or want to be defined by. The text tells us that the effect of words can be a
burden on individual, which leaves the lasting effect of negativity and drought. Sandra Cisneros
purpose on writing My Name was to indicate how big of an impact a person s name can have on their
reflection of the who they are and who they are bound to be, in others words a name is more than a
word given to you the people who named you. This brings up issues mainly identity and sense of
reassurance. The background of this excerpt is from the book The House on Mango Street (1984) by
Sandra Cisneros. The story is organized in short paragraphs, which made the story much more
effective by keeping it simple, but providing as much as information regarding identity, culture, and

Persuasive Essay Against Bat
High pitch sound deterrents are the popular way in repelling the bats and they are used not only for
bats but for other pesky animals as well. These high frequency machines are transmitting the noise
that only bats can hear, but they will soon become immune to the sound and completely will ignore it.
Another wrong method against bats, you can only lose your money on these machines, they are just
not worth it. Even the Federal Trade Commission has issued a warning against these devices,
describing them as fraudulent and ineffective. This idea started among the various pest control
organizations and it has never been proved as the effective one. Most of the animals will just ignore
the device and if they pay attention to it, it will be from

The History of Nursery Ryhmes Essay
The History of Nursery Ryhmes
When you think of nursery rhymes, do you think of innocent, silly games you played as a child? Think
again. Most of the nursery rhymes that have become so popular with the children were never intended
for them. Most began as folk songs or ballads sung in taverns. These songs (rhymes) all most always
were written to make fun of religious leaders or to gossip about kings and queens (Brittanica pars. 1
5). Nursery rhymes are being studied the past few decades as a way to help children learn their
alphabet and numbers. These rhymes have been proven affective in helping children s language skills
improve. As I began to explore different nursery rhymes, I found that they opened up and disclosed

There are eight categories of rhymes: Lullabies (Rock a bye Baby,) singing games (London Bridges,)
nonsense (Hey Diddle Diddle), riddles (Humpty Dumpty), counting
(One, Two, Buckle my Shoe), tongue twisters (Peter Piper), verse stories (Queen of Hearts), and
cumulative rhymes (House that Jack Built) (Pars. 5). According to the World Book Encyclopedia the
earliest known published collection of nursery rhymes was Tommy Thumb s SongBook in 1744, but
in 1697 there was a book published in France called Tales of Mother Goose. This book contained eight
fairytales including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Sleeping Beauty. The most influential
collection was Mother Goose s Melodies: or Sonnet s for the Cradle published in 1781 (616 617).
More than two hundred years since the first book of rhymes was published, interest in children and
fantasy is again running high. The nursery rhyme now represents the oral history of hundreds of years
and how understanding the struggles of authority and occasional mischief by the common people
made with moral conventions and emotional expectations as well as with language. Often anonymous,
such rhymes share interesting characteristics both in content and in linguistic patterning across a huge
range of cultures. The origins and purposes of many nursery rhymes have evolved over time, and
many people do not realize what the

  • 2. Why African American Are The Leading Race For Infant... Introduction Infant mortality rate constitutes the death of a baby before their first birthday. Mortality rates around the world differ tremendously with America leading the first world countries at an alarming rate of 6.1 deaths per 1,000 births. Conversely, Finland and Japan secure the last, most desirable position, with deaths totaling 2.3 per 1,000 births, as of 2010. (Ovaska Few, 2015) In 2014, over 23,000 babies died in the United States. (CDC, 2016) Exploring the mortality rates in America brings light to a dire need for additional interventions and research as to why this developing nation has the highest rate of infant deaths before the age of 1 year old. African Americans face the worst outcomes of infant death compared to whites, Latino, and their Native American peers in North Carolina. (Ovaska Few, 2015) This paper will explore why African American are the leading race for infant mortality and the steps that health communities need to take to address this devastating occurrence. Demographic Characteristics of the North Carolina Population As of 2014, North Carolina ranks as the 8th worst state for infant mortality in the United States with a slight improvement from holding the number one position in 1988. (Health Start Foundation, 2014) As infant mortality rate is broken down by demographics and ethnicity a clearer picture opens the doors of perception and explores preventative measures for this at risk population. Focusing on the freedom of speech , or of the press it s important to note that the media holds powerful entities whether that be individuals, government, businesses, or the Catholic Church accountable for their illegal or dishonest behavior. To analyze this statement, I will be focusing on the film Spotlight and how this film reiterates the idea of holding and exposing wrongdoings through use of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paul/ Minneapolis, MN. Throughout the movie there are a couple of themes that arise that I believe need to be addressed before focusing on how the media holds institutions accountable. The first theme I d like to focus on is the crisis of Faith. The character Mike, had an interesting and powerful character arc. Once Mike sees the files that declare the church was guilty of abuse, he loses his religious Faith . This loss of Faith is especially difficult for a man raised Catholic in one of the most Catholic of cities. The net result is that Mike doubles down on his secular faith in the journalistic investigative process on which he has embarked. His drive to get to the truth kicks his faith in the investigation process into an even higher gear. Further, it s not just an individual s turn, it s an entire generations turn as well to face the crises of Faith . The priests abuse was horrific. This is and should be a story about the victims permanent scars. The film also shows how the church s cover up has furthered the very erosion of the institution they were trying to protect. Mike in that sense stands in for many who lost their Faith in the wake of the abuse scandal, Faith in the Catholic church, Faith and trust in the Priests who lead and represent the church, even Faith in God . Complicity and infallibility in regards to the contrast between the two major institutions, church and press existed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Hodgkin’s Disease Essay Hodgkin s Disease Cancers arising from the lymph nodes or other sites of lymphoid tissue are broadly termed lymphomas. This group of diseases is divided into Hodgkin s disease and non Hodgkin s lymphoma. In both conditions, there is a replacement of normal lymphatic tissue by collections of abnormal lymphoma cells. The lymphatic system are a complex network of specialised cells and organs that defend the body against infection. Lymphatic organs include the bone marrow, spleen, thymus gland, lymph nodes, tonsils, adenoids, appendix and clumps of tissue in the small bowel. A function of the lymphatic system is to nurture and mature the B and T lymphocytes (white blood cells vital to immune function). Cancerous changes can take place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In some instances, the nodes may spontaneously increase and decrease in size. Because Hodgkin s disease is associated with a defect in the maturation of the lymphocyte, the immune system may be impaired. As such repeated infections may occur. Symptoms The symptoms of Hodgkin s disease frequently depend upon the stage of disease. Staging defines the extent to which the disease has spread throughout the body. Moreover, it often determines which treatment(s) will be required. Hodkins has 4 distinct stages of Hodgkin s disease, these being stages 1 4. Each stage is further defined as exhibiting either A or B symptoms. These symptoms refer to either the absence of A or presence of B unexplained weight loss in the preceding 6 months, fever greater than 38°C, and or night sweats. Tumour suppressor genes: In health this family of genes usually act as a counter balance for oncogenesis. It is thought that they may be responsible for repairing gene damage in cells, or are growth inhibitor genes. In Hodgkin s disease, there are often evidences of mutation in tumour suppressor genes as well as other genes. Stage 1. Stage 1 Hodgkin s disease affects a single lymph node or lymph node region. The lymph nodes most commonly affected are the nodes in the neck, armpits or groin. Stage 2.

They bicker, they compete, and they occasionally have full blown arguments, but they are always honest and professional about their disagreements. Between Leslie s passion and Ron s authority, they trade off between winning and losing arguments. Linda Holmes, NPR writer, explains that as the show progresses, [Leslie s] been fleshed out from a cartoonishly goofy boss to a warmly devoted but still funny and skewed public servant. Mentees should not be consumed with having the perfect mentor, but should use their energy to invest in the mentoring relationship, and give it time to grow and develop where trust and respect are one in the same (Janasz, Sullivan, Whiting, 2003, p. 84). • 13. Spanish American Cuban War Essay The War of 1898, also known as the Spanish American Cuban War, was a three year long battle for Cuba s independence from Spain. Before the Cubans could, most likely, win the battle on their own terms, America swooped in and took on Spain with only four months in the war remaining. But America saw another problem after the war with Cubans ruling themselves. So America created the Platt Amendment and inserted them in Cuba s constitution, saying that it was purely for Cuba s safety against civil struggles or attacks from other military powers. These are only some of the few historical or historiographical perspectives that ignore Louise Perez Jr arguments that the United States had different motives for involving themselves in the War. When Cuba started fighting against Spain for independence, America claimed they admired Cuba s passion for liberation. It reminded America of it s own origins, making Americans believe it was their duty to help the Cuban people. With an almost mashup of Orwell meeting the 99%, the story focuses on the inhabitants of the suppressed population of the train s tail section, led by Chris Evans Curtis, revolting against the forward living. The film s narrative in relation to its theme is the focal point of the film and it s main driving force. By using a linear narrative, Joon ho allows the story to move forward as the characters move towards the front of train. With each decision Curtis makes, the blocking of his movements is always in a forward motion. He is always looking forward because he has a definite purpose and only second guesses in a scene (the only scene) where he looks forward and backward toward two separate outcomes of one decision as the camera follows his head movement in a left and right ... I can t tell if it s the way he meant the character to be portrayed and that s just Evan s natural charismatic nature showing through but it adds a layer to the character that makes his decisions and emotions seem more concrete. Even the most virtuous character is destined for downfall, due to one mistake or tragic flaw. In Sophocles Antigone, many are quick to crown Antigone with the title of tragic hero, this is because in a world where no one expelled courage she did. Antigone s act of going against Kreon by burying Polyneices was a sign of foolish loyalty to the gods, but not enough to make her a tragic hero. Her sister, Ismene, is the true tragic hero. Although Ismene can be considered a foil character, Ismene s tragic flaws, loneliness and weakness, make her a tragic hero. Her dire need of affection and companionship are catalyst in her willingness to do anything and lack of rational thinking. I did it. If she is with me now, I share the blame with her and will bear it also (lines 657 658). Ismene s confession to Kreon was a lie. What is life when I ve lost you? What is there to love in life? The Old World Position On The Creation Of Everything The Old World position on the creation of everything is backed by the most evidence, both biblically and scientifically, when compared to the other positions of theism and New World creationism. This is due to the fact that the other two positions end up ignoring or denying points of significant proofs that their counterparts present. However, the Old Earth position accepts and explains parts of the other creationism viewpoints. It does not deny the possibility of evolution, or Genesis 1 2, saying that they do not contradict each other and both can exist at the same time. It also takes some of its own belief from others, explaining that the Earth is billions of years old. This is further compounded upon with the explanation of the six days of creation is not taken literally, rather that they each are an extended period of time. All of this leads to the defense of the Bible not being a historical timeline, but it being a guidebook to understanding God and everything that he does. This also justifies the scientific outlook on the creation story. Like how humanity is always discovering new substances and species, information on the origin of the universe is yet to be found. Wildlife managers have just recently begun to implement strategies to combat this problem. Mainly through the use of hunters the managers are trying to curb the population growth. The Texas Department of Fish and Wildlife states that the population of wintering snow geese has remained constant. • 25. The Tragedy Of Euripides Medea Euripides Medea is considered, according to Aristotle s Poetics, a tragedy. The play centers on Medea, an outsider and wife to Jason, who seeks to punish Jason for taking another wife. The play is considered a tragedy because it contains the three unities as well as the six elements of drama mentioned by Aristotle. Despite the fact that the does the play fits the criteria of what Aristotle considers tragedy, however, Medea is actually not a tragedy but tells the story about a successful revenge. In the Poetics, Aristotle has established a criteria consisting of four requirements that character must have to be considered the tragic hero. Medea, however, is not a tragic character because she does not possess two of the four requirements: goodness and correctness. Aristotle s first requirement of goodness states: The persons wit[ have character ifin the way previousty stated their speech or their action reveals the moraI quality of some choice, and good character if a good choice (Aristotle 130). Having a good character will allow provoke pity and fear in a tragedy. Medea however does not possess the good quality. She does not express it through the course of the play in her actions. In the opening of the play, the nurse makes it known that she wished that the Argo never had set sail (1) which indicates the idea that the only time Medea was possibly good is before Jason set sail to seek the golden pelt for Pelias (6 7). Although both men have intense nationalism and agree on the ends of their operations being a prosperous principality, it is how they plan to get there, in which the two men differ. Machiavelli believes in a cautious, unexamined approach to statecraft where the ends justify the means while Socrates believes in a ruler that is questioned by his people, examines every viable option available, and adheres to a morally correct code of ethics that is driven by the betterment of the soul over the benefit of one s state. ... Rather than just basing his rule entirely off of successful predecessors, Socrates would utilize their methods to formulate his own strategies in a more forward thinking manner. Socrates would examine various other means to get to the same end of establishing power and dominance amongst his people, rather than concluding that the method used by Cesare Borgia was the right course of action in the given situation. He would look at Borgia s exercise in power and question what the man could have done as an alternative to killing his minster. Would it be exiling him? Or perhaps question he would this man like he would do to the so called wise men of Athens and try to catch him in a lie? These are means that Machiavelli failed to consider in lieu of blindly following the example of rulers past. Thus, Socrates would consider Machiavelli s reliance on historical examples to be not enough when it comes to a successful political system, and would passionately disagree with the unexamined regime the Florentine endorses. They always are looking for the source of truth, and asking many questions regarding what they should believe because there are many sects out there which teach different doctrines, or even deny the deity of God and worship other gods. When it comes to the Holy Bible, people are digging further in the outside world to get some responses that are themselves found in the Bible. One of the questions that is asked the most is: « Does the Bible really have Authority? ». The Bible is the word of God. As it says in the Bible, the word of God is authoritative, inspired and inerrant. Authority in a general sense means the power to decide or to command, to impose one s will to others. As far as the Bible is concerned, it is also authoritative in almost the same way. The authority of God can be seen in two angles; first, God has the authority over everything, he does whatever He wants. In Psalms 135:6, it says; Whatever the LORD pleases, He does, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps. As it can be seen, everything that is written in the bible has accomplished or is being accomplished. What God says with is mouth His hands accomplish them. Second, the authority of his word is infallible; it cannot be broken. His words will stay forever. In John 10:35 (KJV), the last sentence says, ...and the scripture cannot be broken. ... Further, Grant wrote, that Union forces had seventeen distinct commanders. Before this time these various armies had acted separately and independently of each other, giving the enemy an opportunity often of depleting one command, not pressed, to reinforce another more actively engaged. I determined to stop this. Grant then immediately provided for a coordinated simultaneous advance of all forces with the main armies strengthened as much as possible by reducing subsidiary forces previously cordoned for defensive purposes. While he may not have been intentionally channeling Jominian ideas, Grant s strategy for Union victory has been compared by historians with the Jominian prescription for victory over Frederick the Great. Since the Confederates were vigorous in applying the principle of concentration on successive lines of operations in order to defeat Union forces, Grant s strategy had to be directed to preventing these Confederate concentrations. Grant s strategy was founded on nullifying the South s principal means of defense, the Jominian shifting of forces successively from one line of operations to another. All three theories believe the environment plays an important part in the cognitive development of children. They each believe it has an impact on how the child learns and develops. They all agree when there is a disruption of the process such as the child being subjected to mental or physical neglect or abuse the child can grow to be developmentally challenged or develop a mental illness as a result. Speech is a signal of the rational ability to determine what is just or unjust, as well as harmful or unharmful to the peculiar man. • 41. Masturbation And Sexual Pleasure During The 19th Century April Haynes lectured and wrote about masturbation and sexual pleasure in the 19th century. She covered the history behind the women led reformation of sexual pleasure and desire in women, and spoke about the anti masturbation movement, which was surprisingly lead by women in the same era. I found these talks to be very interesting in that they covered a discrepancy between the wonder of sex, and the female reintroduction to knowledge about their body, and anti masturbation, which was an ideology enforced by women of that time. An overarching theme in the 19th century was the ideology of passionlessness. This claimed that women were incapable of experiencing sexual pleasure, and had no sexual desire. It was prevalent throughout the early 19th century, but middle class reformers shifted this view in the 1830s. Male lecturers used to only give men talks about their own sexual bodies, but the reform was headed by these lecturers as well. They began to speak about woman s sexual bodies, emphasizing that women have as much sexual desire as men, and could achieve orgasm through hetrosexual sex. Women from the middle class, and lower middle class, attended these lectures to gather information on their own bodies. 19th century women did not know about their own bodies as they did in the past, which attracted women to these lectures, in an attempt to re obtain this held knowledge. The popularity of these lectures not only caused a reform against the ideology of passionlessness, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most of the nursery rhymes that have become so popular with the children were never intended for them. Most began as folk songs or ballads sung in taverns. These songs (rhymes) all most always were written to make fun of religious leaders or to gossip about kings and queens (Brittanica pars. 1 5).
