Singlepass Lutte Research Paper
Curling your hair with aluminum foil might sound like an outside of the box kind of idea, but you
ll be surprised how effective it is when you tried it yourself. If you have thin, volumeless hair like
mine, this trick is a total life changer. It takes much quicker to finish your entire head than a regular
curling wand, not to mention that it s much less traumatic for those who just start experimenting
with hairstyling tools (I mean, who didn t burn their face or hands using a curling iron?).
For this tutorial, I ll be using my new favorite flat iron by T3, the SinglePass Luxe. It s a newly
launched professional flat iron that is everyone in the beauty world is obsessing about. Why?
Because this awesome hair styling tool is a top notch multitasker. ... Show more content on

Grab a small section of your hair and wrap it around your finger in a loop. Make sure that the end
of each section stays in place so your curl look equally wavy from top to bottom.
PRO TIP: It doesn t matter which direction your loops are facing you ll still get great results using
this method!
Step 3. Grab a piece of tinfoil and wrap each loop of hair in it. Don t use too much or too little
aluminum foil for those purposes your hair should be fully covered, but you don t need many
layers of foil on top of your loop.
Step 4. Using a flat iron, scrunch the foil 3 4 times. Be careful, the foil will be very hot for the
next few seconds so either use heat protective gloves or make sure you arrange your foils in a way
that those do not touch your face.
PRO TIP: While you can put tinfoil all over your hair and then warm up each of the foil cocoons I
recommend heating your foils one by one. That way, you ll allow each piece stay warm for a
longer period of time (read: your curls will last longer!).
Step 5. Take out the foils one by one. Spritz with some hair spray and you are all set!
I hope you enjoyed this fun flat iron trick! Please comment below if you ever tried it yourself. Also,
please let me know if you want to see more hair styling hacks posts on my blog I d love to share

Face Construct And Criterion-Related Validity Essay
There are differences among face, construct, and criterion related validity. Face validity assesses
a task under evaluation. A group of subjective experts evaluate face validity (Maribo, Pedersen,
Jensen, Nielsen, 2016). Face validity can be utilized to motivate stakeholders within an
organization. If stakeholders are not supportive of the results from face validity they will become
disengaged. For example, when measuring the level of professionalism during the hiring process
questions should relate to different levels of professionalism. If not stakeholders will not be
motivated to give their opinion and the true assessment of the hiring process will not be achieved.
Face validity considers the relevance of a test as it appears to testers ... Show more content on

367, 2012). This particular validity is important when it comes to legal defensibility. Construct
validity explains how what is being studied matches the actual measure. Criterion validity answers
the question of whether a test reflects a certain set of abilities. One way to assess criterion validity
is to compare it to a known standard. A reference is needed to determine an instrument s criterion
related validity. Criterion related validity predicts the future. If a nursing program designed a
measure to assess student learning throughout the program, a test such as the NCLEX would
measure student s ability in this discipline. If the instrument produces the same result as the
superior test the instrument has a high criterion related validity. The higher the results the more
faith stakeholders will have in the assessment tool. A criterion related validity study is conducted
by statistically correlating scores with some measure of job performance (Biddle, p.308, 2010).
Criterion related validity is most important when it comes to predicting performance in a specific
job, and predicting future

The Phaedrus Dialogue
The Phaedrus dialogue is one of the masterpieces of philosophical and artistic prose of Plato. The
work presents a philosophical debate between Socrates and Phaedrus. Socrates, as expressed by
Plato, refutes the false eloquence and proves that the rhetoric should be based on philosophy. In this
dialogue, Plato also argues the meaning of true love, the way it is connected with the soul, and how
the soul can be incorporated into the frame of art and beauty. Phaedrus covers the most significant
aspects of Plato s philosophical teachings about ideas, the mastery of rhetoric, and the practices of
love and art.
The teachings of Plato assert that the objective world as perceived through the human senses cannot
be considered as true. The sensible things are to constant changes, inevitably fading away, and there
is nothing substantial or real about them. These are only the shadows and the images of the actual
things. Plato regards them as ideas, which are the forms of things that cannot be perceived through
sense, but instead through the human mind. In Phaedrus, this approach finds its representation in
the expression of love, friendship, as well as the notions of truth and soul as the components which
are essential for learning the art of rhetoric. Therefore, through Socrates words, Plato states at the
beginning of the dialogue: I am devoted to learning; landscapes and trees have nothing to teach me
only the people in the city can do that (6). Instead of trying to perceive the

The wolves being reintroduced to yellowstone was a big change and it made the ecosystem

But pretty much everything eats sheep and when the wolves where reintroduction only a few
were killed. But sadly more than a few sheep parishad. But based on facts the only reason wolf
attack or eat live stock and seep is because they are predator and prey scientifically known as apex
predator and primary consumers. But it isn t like they necessarily want to kill the sheep and
livestock it is just a natural instinct.
This all happened because yellowstone was named one of the many rehabilitation places where the
gray wolf species would recover after almost being whipt out entirely in the west of the
rockies. The wolves were brought to yellowstone from another part of the country. The
rehabilitation was called a success so the federal government made a ackt to tack them of the

My First Time
A couple of years ago, I awakened thinking that day would be like any other, but it wasn t. That
was a day that I will never forget. It was the day my friend came to my house crying to me, lip
busted and eye blacked. My initial reaction was shooting up in rage. I was speculating who I
would have to seek revenge on. She told me who did this to her. I had to calm myself back down,
knowing the results would be the same. The assailant was her boyfriend and father of her soon
to be born son. This was not the first time he had put his hands on her, even though this was the
first time it was this severe. I asked her what she desired to do knowing that my previous
attempts at trying to help her were unsuccessful. I could not figure for the life of me why she
would continue to go back to him. She said she continued to stay with him because they had a
child on the way. Other motives for individuals staying in abusive relationships are they don t
know any better, and they don t want to feel like a failure. When people think of birthing a child
they think of togetherness. Usually, people want to be a happy family. A child can be thought
of like a fresh start for various people. There are not many people who want to raise a child alone,
so they may remain in a situation that may not be best for them. Being a single parent was a
hard pill for my McDowell 2 friend to swallow. My comrade wondered why she would have to be
the one to raise her child as a single parent, even though her

The Portrayal Of The Future In The Twilight Zone By Rod...
The portrayal of the future has always been a common theme in TV shows and is influenced by
various political and social issues during the time each show is produced. The Twilight Zone was
a science fiction TV series created by Rod Serling in 1960s that depicted the occurrence of
paranormal or futuristic events. Before each episode, Serling describes The Twilight Zoneas a fifth
dimension as large as space with no essence of time. He calls it the middle ground between light
and shadow, between scienceand superstition, lying between man s fears and his own knowledge.
Serling used his TV show to incorporate his views on social and political issues. Rod Serlingfought

Terry Decker landing his WWI bi plane on an American airfield in France . Decker believes that
the date is March 5, 1917, but is surprised when Major Wilson informs him that it is March 5,
1959. Decker is shocked by how advanced the American base is, with larger aircraft towering
over his small plane. General Harper and Major Wilson note Decker s clothing and believe that
he is part of a nearby airshow. Decker attempts to convince them he is from 1917 and argues that
he and Captain MacKaye were fighting German pilots when MacKaye was overwhelmed and
Decker was swallowed like a vacuum inside a cloud, but Harper and Wilson inform him that
MacKaye is on his way to the air field. Decker reveals that he did not live up to his reputation and
was a coward on the battlefield. He reveals that he actually left MacKaye to die and flew into the
cloud to run away from combat; He also confesses that he sometimes considered giving up and
landing behind enemy lines. Decker is unable to comprehend that MacKaye is still alive and
believes that he must go back to 1917 in order to save MacKaye and allow for the meeting to
take place in 1959. While Decker is running to his plane, viewers are able to catch a glimpse of
how advanced the American base is with departing fighter jets and futuristic helicopters landing in
contrast to how primitive Decker s plane is. The Last Flight was influenced by the race for air
superiority between the Soviet Union and US and the belief that air superiority coincided with
national security. The portrayal of the American airbase as being a superior air force with advanced
technology than that of the British and French also supports the argument of air superiority being a
priority during those times. Decker s stance on war echoed the growing public anti war sentiment
that was prevalent in the United States during the Vietnam War . This anti Vietnam sentiment grew
from a newly vocal youth culture in the 1960s that

Creation, Rebellion, And Fall
The Bible contains sixty six books, written by approximately forty authors, over the course of
two thousand years. God created and loves humans despite their rebellious attitude towards Him,
and God wants to reunite humans to Himself (Poythress, 2008). The Bible is a record of the
sinful rebellion of humans and it still declares God s love for humanity through the sacrifice of
His Son, Jesus Christ. This foundation prepares the way for Jesus Christ to fulfill God s entire
promised covenants. Creation, Rebellion, and Fall (4004 2234 BC) In six days God created the
universe, the earth, and every living thing on it. This includes human beings, who were made in
Gods own image. God created Adam and Eve to have an unobstructed relationship with him, He
placed them in a paradise called the Garden of Eden and gave them freedom to live in friendship
and trust with him. God saw that everything he created was good and He rested on the seventh
day (Genesis 2:2). God left Adam and Eve in the garden with specific instructions: they are NOT
to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However, they rebel and sin enters the world
after a serpent tricks Eve into questioning God s love and motives. In her gullible innocence, she
ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3). Eve shared the fruit with Adam and
they spiritually and physically die. This was catastrophic to Gods Order and led to the
condemnation of all human beings (Roman 5:18). Immediately, they

Video Games Help Children With Special Educational Needs
This paper explains how video games help children with special educational needs, should children
have certain technologies (I.e. phones, tablets, etc.) readily available, and what children enjoy
about playing video games. [METHODS?] The findings from this research are that children s
fascination in video games, whether with typical development or not, mainly involves the thrill of
challenges and the feeling of achievement when winning. When playing video games, children do
learn alternate ways to solve problems. Children who playvideo games may think and learn
differently than those who do not play. Those who tend to cheat in a video games may also do
the same when academics are involved. A child s academic ethics and effort seems to reflect when
playing video games. In other words, children who play a video gamewith minimal effort seem to
give the same amount of effort when academics are concerned. My conclusions include that
technology is good for children with special educational needs, it is helpful for young children in
that it gives them the tools that they need for success (being bilingual in the technological
language), and that it helps children cognitively by finding new ways to solve problems.
Technology s Impact on Childhood Development
Ever since video games were introduced to the world, the topic on whether or not they benefit or

Part I: Pressure and Volume (Boyle s law inverse)
During the first run through of the lab, Gas Pressure Sensor is connected to the LabQuest with a
small plastic syringe connected to it. The syringe is set 15 mL marker (volume) and the pressure is
recorded as 101.19 kPa. By changing the syringe 2 mL down for each run (4 times), the following
volume and pressure reads as stated on the data sheet: 13 mL with the pressure of 117.91 kPa, 11
mL with the pressure of 139.25 kPa, 9 mL with the pressure of 165.72 kPa, and 7 mL with the
pressure of 216.14 kPa.

Kelvin begins at 0 degrees which gives an exact estimation of the determined absolute temperature,
yet Celsius only shows how much the temperature has increased.
The three gas laws that were covered during this experiment were: Boyle s law, Charles law, and
Gay Lussac s law. These laws support this experiment s findings by showing the increased and
decreased values. Boyle is an indirect (1/О±), and Charles and Gay Lussac are both a direct (О±)
relationship.
In Part III, the volume of air in the syringe increased in the warm bath. This occurs because the
heat causes the gas particles to move rapidly making the gas buildup and pressure in the syringe,
increase.
Reflection
During this experiment, 4 people participated to complete it. My partner and I did Part 2, while
the other two did Part 1, then we all worked together in Part 3. I did not find interest in this

Comparing the Works of Norman Rockwell and Gary Soto
Family happiness is something that many today focus on as an absolute requirement for happy and
healthy growth in children. And indeed, it is right that this should be so. In reality, however,
challenges such as poverty and racism often affect the happiness that families might experience.
When comparing the works created by Norman Rockwell and Gary Soto, however, it becomes
clear that familyhappiness is not so much dependent upon wealth as it is upon freedom of
expression and freedom from fear. At first glance, the family in Rockwell s painting appears quite
happy, with the father and motherboth smiling at the sleepy children. The children also seem
peaceful and warm in their bed, and the room appears secure and solid against any elements that
might attack from outside. This is, however, where the sense of overprotection begins to reveal
itself. The overprotected nature of the children s life is revealed in several visual elements in the
painting. First, and most obvious, the mother leans over the children as she puts them to bed. The
father also stands close, looking down at them, with a fond smile on his face. While it is clear that
they love their children, the parents physical orientation towards their children can be said to hover.
Another interesting element in this regard is that the father accompanies the process of putting the
children to bed. He stands next to his wife as she works with the children. He does not help, but
gives the impression that his

The Real Slumdogs
The video The Real Slumdogs show us many different aspects of the culture residing in Dharavi.
There are several different types of statuses that people can achieve from a sociological stand
point, but the one I am referring to in the video is achieved statuses. An achieved status is a
position that is earned, accomplished, or involves at least some effort or activity on the
individual s part. Take the story of Babu, the hard working trash picker for instance. This trash
picker has worked most of his life as a trash picker, and through this dedication he has finally
become his own boss. Although he is still picking trash, he oversees other workers and helps them
learn the trade. If he had not worked tirelessly and put in this effort to get... Show more content on

I find myself looking at this trying to, as the sociological term goes, take the role of the other .
Taking the role of the other is defined as putting yourself in someone elses shoes; understanding
how someone else feels and thinks, so you anticipate how that person will act. If I were to look at
Lakshmi for instance, I see that she works in terrible conditions with her family, and that she
cares very much for her daughter, Sheetal. I see that she doesn t like the conditions in which her
family, or any family in Dharavi for that matter, lives. This has made her provide an education
for her daughter, even though it is costly to her own salary. Since she knows how tough it can be
to make a living in Dharavi, she has helped with a program called Project Acorn. This helps
provide services to other slum dwellers and their children to get an education. She is a very
caring person, and wants to see the people of Dharavi get into better living conditions so they
aren t suffering or not getting anywhere. Shailesh cares for his family, and wants them to have
the best life they can. While he wants this, he also wants to pursue his own dreams as a
Bollywood actor. He wants to become a star and this makes him use a good bit of his monthly
earnings to take acting classes. He is a very driven individual, and his efforts have finally gotten
him a foothold in the film industry, as a background dancer in a music

Social Effects Of Social Media And Physical Effects On...
Physical Effects Social Media has many different effects on society. One of the major things
social media effects is physical health. In comparison to 100 years ago, when Social Media didn
t exist, we can compare some major health issues that have been derived from Social Media.
Some physical effects include over eating, eating disorders and changing physical appearances
to fit in. While I do understand that not all people suffer from the physical problems stemmed
from the internet, but 81% of Americans use social media and of that percentage more than
60% have been negatively affected (New York residents only). (n.d.). Lower Self Esteem
Scrolling through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., humans tend to automatically compare
themselves to others. The most common comparison is appearances. People will completely
change their physical appearance to match with whatever is trending. If they do not succeed in
mastering the new look, some will consider themselves below average, or ugly. This creates a lot
of self doubt especial in youth. Over the last 20 years, cell phone use in the age ranges of 7 18
years old has increased over 75% (Beres, D. (n.d.). Adolescence are exposed to things on the
internet that encourages heavy makeup usage and provocative clothing to enhance their
physical appearance. The standard in day to day appearances seems to be getting higher and
higher as social media usage increases. Food Porn A popular use of Social Media is sharing
food ideas with your friends and family. While this is fun and exciting, it can cause some major
health risks. Even on a full stomach, watching a video that includes food, triggers hunger. The
illusion of seeing food that looks delicious in a photo is that we will crave and attempt to make
the recipe on our own...even if our stomachs are completely full. This effect the food videos have
on social media is tremendous and it will continue to aide to obesity eating disorders in America.
On the complete different spectrum of eating disorders, anorexia and bulimia can be encouraged
through social media. Although it is not directly encouraged to starve yourself it s almost implied.
Models are hired through all different clothing industries and makeup companies

The Batten Disease And Its Effects On The Nervous System

Batten Disease
The Batten disease is characterized as an autosomal recessive, fatal disorder that consists of
detrimental effects on the nervous system. Although the disease typically presents during
childhood, there are many forms that show signs at various ages. Batten disease, also known as
Spielmeyer Vogt Sjögren Batten disease, is named after the British pediatrician who first
correlated its symptoms with the disease progression in 1903. This disease is the most common
type of a group of disorders called neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses, or NCLs. Although Batten
disease originally referred specifically to the juvenile form of NCL (JNCL), the term is now
increasingly used by pediatricians to describe all forms of NCL.
There are four main types of NCL: infantile, late infantile, juvenile and adult. The signs and
symptoms of these forms are extremely similar, with the main difference being the age at which the
disease presents.
Juvenile NCL is classified as the original Batten disease because it is the most common form of
the disorder and progresses less rapidly than other types. First symptoms of this progressive
disease typically begin to develop between the ages of four and seven, when a previously normal
child develops vision complications or seizures (Pearce, 2007). Although, in other cases, changes
may be more minor and manifest in behavioral changes, a decrease in learning capacity, or
clumsiness. However,

Cassia s Infraction
Cassia was under the impression her entire life that the Society never made mistakes and that it
was their savior. Perfection was the one word people utilized to describe the futuristic world they
lived in. However, the Society made decisions for every single one of their citizens. People s
diets, death, activities, partner, and living area were prohibited from being their choice. People that
committed Infractions were given a status, such as an Aberration or an Anomaly. If your parents
had committed an Infraction, all their children were classified as one as well. Additionally,
Aberrations were discriminated against and usually left to perish in locations such as the Outer
Provinces. Similarly, the Society merely allowed 100 of each variety... Show more content on

Multiple dilemmas that plague our modern world currently, were eliminated by the Society. For
instance, cancer, a disease that causes 8 million deaths annually, has been treated by the Society.
Moreover, curing cancer is a remarkable accomplishment and one of the multitudes of reasons
why the Society is an ideal civilization, in my opinion. No cases have been reported and citizens
are fed based on their own nutritional requirements, and everyone is kept healthy. The life
expectancy of the average person is 80 years of age, and that is when they have their Final
Banquet, where they die. Nevertheless, the Society has ceased treacherous factors that are still
present in our world, therefore, I agree with their actions because it has lead to a prosperous
civilization. Although people, similar to Cassia, believe that who you want to love shouldn t be
chosen for you, the Society has generated additional solutions to creating complications. Cassia
persistently stated that the Society disposed of violence and criminals successfully. Those that
chose to commit Infractions were isolated and not allowed with the population. Anomalies were
usually killed to halt violence from spreading in the Society. Finally, in our world today, especially
in Chicago, violence is extremely recurrent and managing to diminish it is outstanding. This

Prohibition Is Not Just An Act

Prohibition
Prohibition was not just an act, it was an era that changed American citizens daily lives; although
the banning of alcohol sounded like a great idea at the time, the noble experiment as many called it,
failed tremendously. Prohibition most certainly started with the noblest of intentions, but in its final
days, it left the states with higher crime rates and deadly mobs making a fortune off of the illegal
substances.
Alcohol was consuming the country; it flowed like water into nearly every home, poorhouse,
and it even trickled into the streets with the selling of booze on most busy street corners. As the
consumption of alcohol grew, so did tensions in the average american home. The once happy
families were being torn apart by the evils of liquors. The average husband worked all day to
support his family, then came home and ventured into a afternoon of binge drinking. Many of
these husbands would become disgruntled and angry over small civil disputes. A powerful group
of activists began to wage a war on alcohol; they made it their mission to eradicate liquor in an
effort to help the country return to simpler and more godly times. The movement, known as
Prohibition, may well go down as one of the biggest legislative backfires in American history.
Prohibition in the United States was a nationwide constitutional ban on the sale, production,
importation, and transportation of alcoholic beverages that remained in place

Soundcloud In The Movie Industry
Everywhere people look, there is a screen. Whether it s a laptop, television, phone, tablet, or a
cinema, screens encompass society. Additionally, the content we watch on these devices is
growing at a prolific rate. This is due to easy access of programs, like Final Cut, Premiere Pro,
and iMovie, that allow basically anyone to make their own video or movie. Some say that this
ability to produce movies easier than ever before poses a threat to the integrity of the movie
industry, claiming streaming sites, legitimate or otherwise, are shifting people away from the
theater and moving them toward home entertainment. However, I believe this change in film
production is only creating more sub genres of film, and not actually degrading Cinema s good...

Soundcloud is a relatively new music streaming site that enables up and coming rappers to
easily release their content to a large audience. Many rappers, now referred to as soundcloud

Artists such as Lil Yachty, XXX Tentacion, Lil Pump, Lil Uzi Vert, and Jay Critch, all became
famous by utilizing the streaming sites fan base to gain followers. This rise in Soundcloud
rappers created a subgenre of hip hop music, known as soundcloud rap, without degrading the
integrity of hip hop. While this subgenre has increased in popularity in the past year significantly,
artists that represent the gems of hip hop, like Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, J Cole, Jay Z, and

My Mother and Her Sacrifices Helped Me Learn to Play an...
Although I have many people who impacted my life, the most significant one life is my mom.
She is the sole person who is responsible for making me who I am today and shaped the life I
lead. My mother taught me how to read, write, play the violin and piano, and study. With her
guidance, I can go to school to increase my knowledge and make friends. Because she did all of
this for me out of love, she has changed my world and the opportunities to come my way.
When I was attending to kindergarten, I started learning how to play the violin. After lunch, I
took a lesson from my violin teacher while my mom watched. The teacher was very mean
because he yelled at me if I made mistakes despite the fact that I was very young. Although he
taught me how to play violin, my mom was the one who made me practice and prepare for next
lesson. Therefore, I did what my mom told me to do and practiced the way she wanted me to play.
Although my mom said the teacher was very mean to me, she continued to challenge me to play
perfectly to show that teacher that I was talented and could do anything that I set my mind on.
During the next lesson, according to my mom, he tested me, and I succeeded, and he never yelled
at me again According to my mother, his testing was simple. He made me play the violin with
him and I had to keep up with him with the same tempo. After I successfully played on incredibly
fast duet with him, he told me to play slowly the week after for practice. The reason why I could

Essay about Discuss the Male Reproductive System
Discuss the Male Reproductive System
The reproductive system is questionably the body system that is the most important influence on
life as we know it. It is the w ay in which we procreate and ensure our existence as a species.
However, the penis is only one part of the male reproductive system, which constitutes of a series
responsible for generating, storing, and transporting the genetic material contained in the sperm
cells. The main organs include: testicles (or testes), the epididymides, the vas deferens, the
ejaculatory duct, the urethra, and the penis. Others are the scrotum, urogenital opening, and the
prostate gland.

Testes are kept in the scrotum sac and are two oval shaped glands, about 8,5cm long and 2.5cm
wide. A midline septum divides the scrotum into two halves and each testical is covered in two
tunics; the Tunica vaginalis from the peritoneum and the Tunica albuginea which is a deeper tunic
and a fibrous capsule. The septa from this layer then divides the testes into 250 300 wedge shaped
compartments or lobules. It is in these lobules that seminiferous tubules are found, where sperm is
made. Each lobule contains about 1 4 seminiferous tubules. The network into which seminiferous
tubules empty is called the Rete testis. After which, the epididymis receives sperm from the rete
testis network.
The scrotum is a loose sac of skin and superficial fascia outside the abdominopelvic cavity, fascia,
and smooth muscle that encloses and supports the testes outside the body at an optimum
temperature for the production of sperm, about 3 degrees below body temperature. When the
temperature is too low, the spermatic cord (This cord is surrounded by skeletal muscle and
suspends the testes) tightens thus pulling the testes closer to the body. When the temperature is too
hot, the cord relaxes resulting in the testes moving further away from the body. The muscles
responsible for this are Cremaster muscles, which extend from the internal obliques and elevate the
testes. Most men might have noticed that when this happens, the scrotum skin wrinkles. This is due
to the smooth muscle in the

How Does The Implementation Of Graphic Organisers Impact...
Title
Everyone loves a good story! : Using graphic organisers to scaffold a narrative.
Abstract
Research Question
How does the implementation of graphic organisers impact student learning with regard to a text
type in literacy?
Rationale
Literature Review
Introduction
Graphic organisers used in writing a narrative are a visual cue for ordering information. To full
understand the purpose of graphic organisers in classrooms it is useful to break the term down
and look at the defintions of both graphic and organiser . The term graphic can be described as an
adjective and means clear (2014). While the term organiser can be defined as a person or a thing
used for organising. (2014, Cambridge Dictionary Online)

Teaching Practices
Educators use the term graphic organisers which refers to a range of devices such as concept maps,
mind webs, semantic maps, knowledge maps and tables. (O Donnell, 2012, p. 335) Effective
writing programs use both modelled, guided and independent teaching strategies to help students
comprehend and become successful in their creative writing (NSW Department of Education and
Training Curriculum Support Directorate).
Graphic organisers can be implemented into this cycle which can be best described as I do , We
do and You do (Christian, 2014). For the first stage of I do a graphic organiser can be selected by
the teacher and displayed to the class, modelling ways of note taking and using the sections of the
organiser to list ideas for further development in the writing task. Modelled writing means both
modelling to students how to write and selecting models such as a graphic organiser to demonstrate
how writing works (NSW Department of Education and Training Curriculum Support Directorate).
The teaching strategy of we do would involve the class making decisions with the guidance of the
teacher about what graphic organiser to use and what points they think should be included in the
organiser before jointly constructing a narrative. Finally, students can independently select and
complete their own individual graphic organisers, known as I do , before then going on to write
their own stories. Students

Essay on Advertising to Children
They see it; they want it. Advertising to children is turning a want into a responsive nag to a
parent, like a reflex. Every media outlet advertises, and companies like popular fast food
restaurants target children. In the process of fattening the children, will their reflexes get slower?
At some point in every kid s life, they see an advertisement for a food or toy they want. This want
leads to nagging of the parent until they give in. Although it is highly effective and profitable, fast
foodcompanies should not be able to have aggressive advertisement campaigns targeting children
because it corruptly brainwashes them and promotes unhealthy life choices. Companies, like
Disney, have been developing their advertisement strategies... Show more content on

The fact that the company would want a slender mascot as opposed to an overweight one is
ironic. This shows that even before the fast food industry was put on blast like it is in today s
culture, they already were aware of the correlation between unhealthy weight and fast food. The
success of the McDonald s Corporation that is still held today reflects on the early marketing
works of Kroc.
Marketing styles is not the only element Ray Kroc and Walt Disney can be linked through. Both
of these entrepreneurs changed American culture through their businesses and set building blocks
for the industry. Although they were influential, marketing to kids can be turned into a form of
brainwashing. Thousands of children get hooked on fast food and other products that are
unhealthy. Once hooked at a young age, these children grow up never changing their habits. This
leads to dangerous lifestyles and the amount of obesity that is in our society. But is taste and
familiarity the only factors kids are hooked on fast food? Have you ever noticed that McDonald s
is the only carrier of Disney products as toys in the Happy Meal? Kroc and Disney grew up
together and had similar ambitions, which led to their empires helping one another out. (Schlosser

Climate Change In The Arctic
Environmental change in the Arctic has been a subject of recent interest within the discourse of
global warming, climate change, and indigenous rights; however, scholars have yet to examine the
importance of 20th century racial, cultural, and environmental interactions within Northern Canada.
Specifically, the Northern areas of Ontario, Quebec, and Manitoba provide interesting and important
issues that are critical to current discussions of global warming, climate change, and water rights

The Process Of Manufacture Is Different Per Company
The process of manufacture is different per company and varies greatly between not only
company but cheeses as there are so many variables which can be used to alter the moisture,
colour, texture and taste of a cheese. Bega has a simplified version which is easier to understand
and eliminates much of the jargon normally used.
The milk is milked from the dairy cattle either by a robotic or semi automatic system. This milk is
stored at 4В°c until the tests have been carried out to determine the quality of the milk and what
type of cheese this would best fit. Once these tests have been carried out to ensure the quality and
the safety of the milk then the first step is standardisation . This is where the components (protein

Pasteurisation is the sterilisation step which is required by legislation to ensure that all
pathogenic bacteria are killed to make the milk and any bi products safe for human
consumption. The process of pasteurisation is that of the milk being heated to a minimum of 72
75В°c (depending on the company) for at least 15 seconds. This kills off the harmful pathogenic
bacteria. This process is done in a way so that the milk may be heated without burning the milk
which would cause a taste and colour change. The milk passes through a series of plates under
pressure; these plates are heated by steam that is used to heat water and in turn heat the plates.
This in turn heats the milk to the desired temperature to complete pasteurisation. To cool the milk
without freezing the milk, the process is similar but a complete polar opposite. The milk is put
through another series of plates that are cooled by chilled water that in turn cools the milk to a
set temperature . The cooling to a set temperature is done prior to being added to the cheese
making vats. The vats typically may have a capacity of 14,000 litres each but may vary between
each manufacturing site. By the time the last vat, usually the eighth) is filled then the first will
have been emptied (the milk used), washed and is ready to fill again so that there is always milk
ready to use at any time rather than all being ready to use at the same time.

Huxley s Use Of Satire In Brave New World
Satire is the use of exaggeration and humor to ridicule and criticize the foolishness of a set of
beliefs or thoughts. It takes the topic of the satire to an intense point in order to leave an impact on
the audience and make them think
Satire is effective because it conveys information in such an extreme way that people are drawn in
and forced to pay attention to the underlying issue. By making it interesting and injecting humor, it
is more likely that people will be interested in the topic
Satire is most often used in correspondence to issues in politics, as the dark humor aspect can

The accuracy of predictions in dystopian novels range greatly from accurate to completely
inaccurate. Some of the technologies presented in these works are completely feasible and have

A Summary On Parkinson s Disease
Introduction
In 1817, James Parkinson first described a disease, later to be known as Parkinson s Disease
(PD) as a; neurodegenerative disorder affecting the physical, psychological, social, and
functional status of individuals (Parkinson Society Canada Staff, 1965). In the time since the
disease was first described, the frequency of individuals affected with the disease has increased,
with no single cause yet to be identified as the culprit for the onset of the disease. According to
the Parkinson s society Society of Canada, approximately one hundred thousand Canadians live
with this debilitating disease (Parkinson Society Canada Staff, 1965). Not only has no successful
cure for Parkinson s been developed, there has yet to be any diagnostic tools developed that prove
any suredefinite diagnosis (Parkinson Society Canada Staff, 1965). To this point, Parkinson s is a
disease that continues to impact a higher percentage of the population each year, with no true hope
being given to those that struggle with the impairment. The purpose of this paper is to provide a
summary of our knowledge on PD to date, describing the physiology behind the deficits that PD is
responsible for, the known causes and risk factors, the signs and symptoms, and finally any known
treatments that help to reduce the impairments of PD.

The Pros And Cons Of The Sandwich Generation
In many families in our society today, the parents are a part of the sandwich generation and now
are raising kids that are growing up to take part in the boomerang generation. The sandwich
generation makes up of people who are in their thirties or forties that are trying to raise their own
children while looking after their elderly parents. On the other hand, the boomerang generation
consists of young adults who graduate high school and college to only come back and live with
their parent and rely on their support. As a result of this, there comes many challenges for both the
parents and the child since the sandwich generation is stuck in the conflicting nature of taking care
of their elderly parents while providing for their children by meeting their needs of emotional love
and providing tangible needs. However, many realize that their kids are entering into adulthood and
now these parents face the challenge of pushing their children to be independent and take on
responsibility while trying to secure a stable retirement. Not only that, but many parents are
postponing their retirement because they are helping their young adult children with their debts,
studies or their housing. This can be very costly for the parents since they oftentimes have to worry
about their own future and the costly expenses that come with retirement, and to provide for their
kids who are currently relying on their support. This situation is even worse if the parents are a part
of the sandwich

Good Country People by Flannery O’Connor
In her book, Good Country People, Flannery O Connor shows first hand how one cannot judge a
book by its cover... not even a Bible. Even though a façade is put on, one realizes how vulnerable
Hulga Hopewell actually is. Her encounter with a Bible salesman, Manley Pointer, shows how one
cannot trust even good country people(2). Symbolism in this story transforms what one perceives
the character of Hulga and Manley to be and allows the reader to make deeper connections about
their physical and mental flaws. The main, and most noticeable, symbolis Hulga Joy Hopewell s
artificial leg. She is as sensitive about it as a peacock about its tail (8). The roughness of her
personality matches that of her wooden leg. Since becoming handicapped, she removes all
feelings for others, herself, and the belief in a higher power. She feels that she is not of value
anymore and not worth the dust of her existence (11) so she changes her name to Hulga, which
she believes is the ugliest name in all languages. Her leg is used as a tool to illustrate to others
her miserable state. She stomps around and purposely makes an ugly sounding (9) noise. As bad
as the situation of losing her leg may be, what is worse is how she uses it. The leg, though
inanimate and built to be very strong, is her crutch, both literally and psychologically. This crutch
is what makes her so weak and bitter. When Hulga says to her mother, Mrs. Hopewell, if you want

Embarking and Disembarking
3.8.3 Embarking and disembarking
In several cases the court determined the place of location by taking into consideration if the
passengers were exposed to the hazard inherent in aviation operations. It has been taken also into
consideration if the passenger was under the charge of control of a carrier or his agent. According
to Godfroid, the primary test should be whether the passenger was under the control of the carrier or
his agent, in addition the activity should be related to an activity of aviation. An injured passenger
who did not board, but is still in the terminal will be considered outside article 17, the same
applies to a passenger who had reached the baggage claim area. Article 17 applies when a
passenger was injured on the steps of the terminal building on his way to board the aircraft and
also when a passenger was injured on the apron by a baggage transport.
According to the U.K. Courts it is important to relate an accident to a specific flight, when cases
about embarking or disembarking are being solved. It is also important to consider the passenger
s location and if the passenger was about to enter or was actually entering the airplane it would
create an article 17 accident. In case an accident occurred elsewhere in the terminal, a consideration
have to made whether the passenger was required to be there by the carrier.

The Importance Of Energy Power
Every country has to decide what type of energy it wants to use in order to generate the power
that is needed for the industrialization and for use by the citizens of the country. There are
many factors that impact that decision. Each energy source has an impact physically, politically
and economically on the given country. These conditions are what helps to sway the decision of
the political leaders to pick which of the sources they want to use. Some of different resources
that a country can use are coal (non renewable), nuclear energy (non renewable), natural gas (non
renewable), oil (non renewable), and hydroelectricity (renewable), and solar energy (renewable).
Most of these resources are being used by countries all around the world. The decision as to how
best to power their country is based on many factors. China is a perfect example of how different
factors can affect the decisions. China has decided to try and change their energy usage to
renewable power. One source they have considered is hydroelectricity. One limitation of
hydroelectricity is that it can only be used in locations that have enough water to keep flowing.
Another source that china has been considering is solar power. There are also limitations with
solar power. Solar energy can only be collected in a location that gets enough sun. Also, the solar
panels take up land, and China does not have sufficient empty land because of overpopulation.
Other resources are dependent on where the reserves are

In both documentaries, General Idi Amin Dada and The Act of Killing, the authors spent a
considerable amount of time with the perpetrators of mass murder. In The Act of Killing Joshua

millions of mass killings. In General Idi Amin, Barbet Schroeder spent time with the third Ugandan

In both documentaries, the perpetrators seem to have the impression that they are in control of the

An Annotation of Edgar Allan Poe s The City in the Sea
Edgar Allan Poe had his own unique view on what poetry should be. A lecture he wrote, The
Poetic Principle, covers his viewpoints and sheds light on many of his poems. We will use it to
examine The City in the Sea. First, Poe felt that the goal of all poetry should be Beauty. What is
poetry? It is not the mere oral or written repetition of forms, and sounds and colors and odors, and
sentiments. No, whoever just repeats his experiences to the world in the form of song or written
verse, no matter how enthusiastically he is doing it, is not attaining beauty. Even if he describes the
most beautiful thing, or sings about it, this is not poetry. Poe believes that there is ... Show more

The soul catches a glimpse of the Beauty it is looking for in poetry.
Yet, Beauty for Poe would probably be a different beauty for the rest of us. Beauty for Poe often
concentrates on death, or has a melancholy theme. While some would think that melancholy would
be depressing, it elevates and thrills the soul for Poe. Sadness for Poe is a part of Beauty. In the
Poetic Principle, Poe examines other poet s works, displaying the poetical characteristics of the
works. In these works, such as Bryant s June Poe describes that the melancholy is essential to
Beauty. In Bryant s cheerful description of the grave an intense melancholy is created, and that
melancholy we find thrilling us to the soul В while there is the truest poetic elevation in the thrill.
The impression left is one of a pleasurable sadness. And...let me remind you that this certain taint of
sadness is inseparably connected with all the higher manifestations of true Beauty. Therefore, Poe
felt that elevation of the soul, Beauty, and sadness were all very closely related, and dependant on
one another.
Through poetry, one can catch a glimpse of this divine, eternal Beauty. The soul is in effect lifted

9:07 or so and there were no available activities, so we (Quincee and me) explored the campus a
bit more, and I have to say I m impressed; the campus was more complex, the campus displayed
wise students, and had air conditioning that was spread to pretty much every area (except the
bathroom), so sorry, (I m gonna get hate from this) I think our school is inferior to this school.
After exploring, it was about 9:35 and we headed back to the cafeteria for some reason I don

The Bush Doctrine
The Bush Doctrine Analysis On March 16, 2006, the White House released President George W.
Bush s second term National Security Strategy (NSS), which later come to be regarded as the Bush
doctrine. The doctrine was developed predominantly in response to the most unforgettable day in
the American history the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. He comes up with the two major
pillars of the National Security Strategy which consist of the promotion of freedom, democracy and
also he used the globalized approach to extinguish terrorism due to the global security. On the other
hand, President Washington and President Eisenhower emphasizes different arguments on how
does that military based global approach would be indeed beneficial and... Show more content on

The three Presidents might have their own startegy to response to any act of threat, but we
definitely know that Bush has the most viral strategy among all. Not trying to mention that Bush s
is dangerous or mischievous, but at least he has done something to get everything fixed rather than
just spending too much time thinking of it. Nevertheless, an immediate act and response should
not be neglected here. And we re all know that Bush has completed that task eventhough
Washington and Eisenhower might have disagree with him if they were still alive. But, again,
both Washington and Eisenhower should not come into such a judgement because they were not
there in the era of Bush precidency. So they do not have any idea how does it feels like to be in
Bush shoes. They do not know how it feels to face those massive attack of terrors that has created

Many people have no desire for the government to take part in any variety of communication
structures, simply because of the incident regarding Edward Snowden. The vital leaks by Snowden
have the public worried about not trusting the government because of the exposure and the possible
violations of our rights. I do not think there is a problem with the actual involvement of the
government, the issues lie with how much actual involvement will the government have? The
reality is that the Cybersecurity danger is not going to be fixed and is here to stay so figuring out
solutions together for the long term is essential to

Why Global Warming Doesn T Cause Disease Thomas Moore
Summary
This world is heating up, and all the fire mix tapes that are getting dropped are not the reason
why. Global warming is a very controversial topic in the first place, but is the idea that it is the
cause of diseases even more disputable? It seems so. Thomas Gale Moore, a Senior Fellow at
Stanford University, wrote an argumentative paper titled Why Global Warming
Doesn t Cause
Disease , using sources from the late 1990 s and arguing that The United States Government stating
information concluding that Global warming may cause disease is wrong and should pay attention
to the experts on disease. The information that you will gain from this article is that Global
warming is a possible cause of disease (Moore, n.d).
In the introduction of Thomas Gale Moore s essay, he states that Threats of global warming are
bringing on a plague... infestation we speak of is a plague of misinformation, infecting the public
consciousness and blurring the issue of the effects of climate change on human health in a swarm
of anxiety and confusion . One of his sources states that global warming is not the current problem.
It is a collapse in public health measures, an increase in drug resistance in parasites, and an increase
in pesticide resistance in vector ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

To Kill A Mockingbird Book Vs Movie Essay
When a novel is turned into a movie, the movie director usually to changes or cuts certain scenes.
The To kill a Mockingbird movie wasn t able to elaborate on certain characters that Harper Lee
wrote about. Why did the movie extract what scenes they did? The book is revolved around the
children Scout, Jem, and Dill to a certain extent. The movie focused on big name actor actor
Gregory Peckwho played Atticus. In order to make more money, the movie conveyed Atticus as
the focal point . Because of this, Scout had few lines. The beginning of the book starts out kind
of slow and allows the reader to get accustomed to each character. The movie skips through most
of that in order to hook the viewers in. For example, the movie shows Scout rolling in the tire
without even telling the backstory of the Radley s and telling you who Boo is. The movie cut
the scenes with the fire at Miss. Maudie s house, and the incident with Ms. Dubose and Jem. The
movie didn t really mention Boo as much as I was expecting it to. These changes were most
likely made because the director chose to have the movie revolve around the trial. Atticus says it is
a sin to kill a mockingbirdat the diner table. The books says this after the children receive airsoft
rifles. The children never receive airsoft rifles in the movie. Therefore, the director was forced to
work this important line in another... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scout is in her ham costume and they way it looks takes some intensity out of the situation. The
scene also doesn t show Boo is the one that saved them. This makes the reveal that happens more
powerful. After the reveal happens Atticus leaves his kids in a room with Boo radley. This might
show how thankful Atticus is or how good a person Boo is, but it honestly just makes Atticus look
like he isn t the best father and that the business he is going to take care of is more important than
his children s

Policing Is A Major Effect On The World Terrorist Attacks...
Throughout the world the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001 changed the way the world
has looked at terrorism. Everything from policing to the way people board onto airplanes and
travel via public transportation has changed in a tremendous way. Policing is a major effect that
has changed at all different training drills to be prepared for every situation for the different types
of units just focusing on terrorism. The NYPD has changed in a huge way from that day. They
have started over five different units to try and combat terrorism. They train every day for every
situation and work hand in hand with the FDNY to make sure they are prepared. Since September

They even have units stationed overseas in ten countries, including in the Middle East, looking for
new plots against New York and learning from attacks overseas. (Pritchard, J 2016)
The newest unit of the NYPD is their new counterterrorism unit known as Critical Response
Command, which started in late November of 2015 and deployed the first unit out after the
terrorist attacks in Paris back in 2015. This new unit so far only consists of about five hundred with
only one hundred and ten starting off. The unit takes two stationed officers from each precinct at
critical locations around the city, in addition to the NYPD s emergency service unit. They will be
equipped with heavy weapons, duty vest and smartphones that will help them protect critical
locations across the city. This new unit will work hand in hand with not only the other thousand
counter terrorism members of the NYPD but also with the FDNY. They will train together to make
sure they are trained for every situation and are able to handle any situation that may occur within
the city.
Al Qaeda is one of the major terrorist organizations in the world, they are responsible for at least
thirty attacks worldwide and three on US soil, most famously they are responsible for the attacks
on September 11th 2001. Al Qaeda started in nineteen eighty eight by the leader Osama Bin
Laden, who has been the leader for both attacks in New York City. The major attack was the
deadliest attack on US soil, which was the

An Account of the Mysterious Damien Echols Life in Arkansas
Although there is a vast amount of famous Arkansans none have had such a troubling past with the
Arkansas court system then this man. From being sent to life in prison to being considered the
ringleader of the infamous clique the West Memphis 3. This man who was once known by his birth
name Michael Wayne Hutchinson is today recognized as the mysterious Damien Echols.
Damien Echols was born on the 11th of December at an unknown location in West
Memphis,Arkansas in the year of 1974 to his parents Pam Echols and Joe Hutchinson. Damien
only had one sibling who happened to be his sister Michelle Echols, who was born three years
after him in 1977; in an unknown location as well. In 2012 Damien published a book about some
of his fondest childhood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Him and his wife Lorri Davis eloped on the third of December in 1999 at the Tucker Max
Security Unit in Arkansas. During the spring of 1996 Davis began writing letters to Damien and
in the time span of three years they wrote each other 5,000 letters. During August of 2011 Damien
was released from prison and was able to receive somewhat of his freedom back using the Alford
Plea. The Alford Plea is essentially designed to allow defendants to maintain their innocence by
simply saying they didn t do it, but that the state has enough evidence to prove their guilt.Although
Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley might be free men that doesn t stop the eyes
of the law from seeing this trio as horrendous people who pleaded guilty to murdering three young
boys (French).
In conclusion, there was indeed an ample amount of famous Arkansans to choose from but not a
single one of them will ever carry the same horrific past in the state of Arkansas as him. From
divorces and dark childhoods to even prison time this man conserved his innocence throughout
many years not only during a trial but also through what was supposed to be life in prison. This
mystifying man of many years of suffering is known as Damien

Analysis Of Disney s The Outer Shell Of Innocence
Females everywhere are obsessively trying to alter their appearance to mirror the perfect body
images surrounding us in today s media. Body image dominates media everywhere you look,
every time you turn your head we are pestered with beautiful women and perfect figures. The
overwhelming urge for women to have a body just like the perfect models and idols we see
plastered in media has spilled over into our children. Despite the outer shell of innocence, the
psychological and sociological effects of Disney figures misrepresent the ideal body image as
distorted to perfection and airbrushed to unrealistic; the iconic body image warping an adolescent
mind into aiming for unobtainable goals. Although advances on race and gender through
becoming more culturally rounded and balancing the demands of the public Disney fails in
forwarding their portrayal of accurate body image. Princesses along with other female
protagonists are displayed with size double zero waists, skinny limbs, and even small feet to the
point where bone structure is nonexistent. This unnatural, body size presented in Disney s
animated characters however, is what society calls for and demands. The thin ideal has existed in
American culture since the 1960s, and it is still increasingly popular today in numerous forms of
media; forty years later its impact has been so devastating it has become an expected norm. Our
society views a narrow, fragile figure as beautiful, and the media reflects that. In addition to

  • 3. Singlepass Lutte Research Paper Curling your hair with aluminum foil might sound like an outside of the box kind of idea, but you ll be surprised how effective it is when you tried it yourself. If you have thin, volumeless hair like mine, this trick is a total life changer. It takes much quicker to finish your entire head than a regular curling wand, not to mention that it s much less traumatic for those who just start experimenting with hairstyling tools (I mean, who didn t burn their face or hands using a curling iron?). For this tutorial, I ll be using my new favorite flat iron by T3, the SinglePass Luxe. It s a newly launched professional flat iron that is everyone in the beauty world is obsessing about. Why? Because this awesome hair styling tool is a top notch multitasker. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Grab a small section of your hair and wrap it around your finger in a loop. Make sure that the end of each section stays in place so your curl look equally wavy from top to bottom. PRO TIP: It doesn t matter which direction your loops are facing you ll still get great results using this method! Step 3. Grab a piece of tinfoil and wrap each loop of hair in it. Don t use too much or too little aluminum foil for those purposes your hair should be fully covered, but you don t need many layers of foil on top of your loop. Step 4. Using a flat iron, scrunch the foil 3 4 times. Be careful, the foil will be very hot for the next few seconds so either use heat protective gloves or make sure you arrange your foils in a way that those do not touch your face. PRO TIP: While you can put tinfoil all over your hair and then warm up each of the foil cocoons I recommend heating your foils one by one. That way, you ll allow each piece stay warm for a longer period of time (read: your curls will last longer!). Step 5. Take out the foils one by one. Spritz with some hair spray and you are all set! I hope you enjoyed this fun flat iron trick! Please comment below if you ever tried it yourself. • 4. Face Construct And Criterion-Related Validity Essay There are differences among face, construct, and criterion related validity. Face validity assesses a task under evaluation. A group of subjective experts evaluate face validity (Maribo, Pedersen, Jensen, Nielsen, 2016). Face validity can be utilized to motivate stakeholders within an organization. If stakeholders are not supportive of the results from face validity they will become disengaged. For example, when measuring the level of professionalism during the hiring process questions should relate to different levels of professionalism. If not stakeholders will not be motivated to give their opinion and the true assessment of the hiring process will not be achieved. Face validity considers the relevance of a test as it appears to testers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 367, 2012). This particular validity is important when it comes to legal defensibility. Construct validity explains how what is being studied matches the actual measure. Criterion validity answers the question of whether a test reflects a certain set of abilities. One way to assess criterion validity is to compare it to a known standard. A reference is needed to determine an instrument s criterion related validity. Criterion related validity predicts the future. If a nursing program designed a measure to assess student learning throughout the program, a test such as the NCLEX would measure student s ability in this discipline. If the instrument produces the same result as the superior test the instrument has a high criterion related validity. The higher the results the more faith stakeholders will have in the assessment tool. A criterion related validity study is conducted by statistically correlating scores with some measure of job performance (Biddle, p.308, 2010). Criterion related validity is most important when it comes to predicting performance in a specific job, and predicting future ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Phaedrus Dialogue The Phaedrus dialogue is one of the masterpieces of philosophical and artistic prose of Plato. The work presents a philosophical debate between Socrates and Phaedrus. Socrates, as expressed by Plato, refutes the false eloquence and proves that the rhetoric should be based on philosophy. In this dialogue, Plato also argues the meaning of true love, the way it is connected with the soul, and how the soul can be incorporated into the frame of art and beauty. Phaedrus covers the most significant aspects of Plato s philosophical teachings about ideas, the mastery of rhetoric, and the practices of love and art. The teachings of Plato assert that the objective world as perceived through the human senses cannot be considered as true. The sensible things are to constant changes, inevitably fading away, and there is nothing substantial or real about them. These are only the shadows and the images of the actual things. Plato regards them as ideas, which are the forms of things that cannot be perceived through sense, but instead through the human mind. In Phaedrus, this approach finds its representation in the expression of love, friendship, as well as the notions of truth and soul as the components which are essential for learning the art of rhetoric. Therefore, through Socrates words, Plato states at the beginning of the dialogue: I am devoted to learning; landscapes and trees have nothing to teach me only the people in the city can do that (6). It was the day my friend came to my house crying to me, lip busted and eye blacked. My initial reaction was shooting up in rage. I was speculating who I would have to seek revenge on. She told me who did this to her. I had to calm myself back down, knowing the results would be the same. The assailant was her boyfriend and father of her soon to be born son. This was not the first time he had put his hands on her, even though this was the first time it was this severe. I asked her what she desired to do knowing that my previous attempts at trying to help her were unsuccessful. I could not figure for the life of me why she would continue to go back to him. She said she continued to stay with him because they had a child on the way. Other motives for individuals staying in abusive relationships are they don t know any better, and they don t want to feel like a failure. When people think of birthing a child they think of togetherness. Usually, people want to be a happy family. A child can be thought of like a fresh start for various people. Before each episode, Serling describes The Twilight Zoneas a fifth dimension as large as space with no essence of time. General Harper and Major Wilson note Decker s clothing and believe that he is part of a nearby airshow. Decker attempts to convince them he is from 1917 and argues that he and Captain MacKaye were fighting German pilots when MacKaye was overwhelmed and Decker was swallowed like a vacuum inside a cloud, but Harper and Wilson inform him that MacKaye is on his way to the air field. Decker reveals that he did not live up to his reputation and was a coward on the battlefield. He reveals that he actually left MacKaye to die and flew into the cloud to run away from combat; He also confesses that he sometimes considered giving up and landing behind enemy lines. Decker is unable to comprehend that MacKaye is still alive and believes that he must go back to 1917 in order to save MacKaye and allow for the meeting to take place in 1959. While Decker is running to his plane, viewers are able to catch a glimpse of how advanced the American base is with departing fighter jets and futuristic helicopters landing in contrast to how primitive Decker s plane is. The Last Flight was influenced by the race for air superiority between the Soviet Union and US and the belief that air superiority coincided with national security. The portrayal of the American airbase as being a superior air force with advanced technology than that of the British and French also supports the argument of air superiority being a priority during those times. • 9. Creation, Rebellion, And Fall The Bible contains sixty six books, written by approximately forty authors, over the course of two thousand years. God created and loves humans despite their rebellious attitude towards Him, and God wants to reunite humans to Himself (Poythress, 2008). The Bible is a record of the sinful rebellion of humans and it still declares God s love for humanity through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. This foundation prepares the way for Jesus Christ to fulfill God s entire promised covenants. Creation, Rebellion, and Fall (4004 2234 BC) In six days God created the universe, the earth, and every living thing on it. This includes human beings, who were made in Gods own image. God created Adam and Eve to have an unobstructed relationship with him, He placed them in a paradise called the Garden of Eden and gave them freedom to live in friendship and trust with him. God saw that everything he created was good and He rested on the seventh day (Genesis 2:2). God left Adam and Eve in the garden with specific instructions: they are NOT to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However, they rebel and sin enters the world after a serpent tricks Eve into questioning God s love and motives. In her gullible innocence, she ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3). Eve shared the fruit with Adam and they spiritually and physically die. This was catastrophic to Gods Order and led to the condemnation of all human beings (Roman 5:18). Immediately, they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Video Games Help Children With Special Educational Needs This paper explains how video games help children with special educational needs, should children have certain technologies (I.e. phones, tablets, etc.) readily available, and what children enjoy about playing video games. [METHODS?] The findings from this research are that children s fascination in video games, whether with typical development or not, mainly involves the thrill of challenges and the feeling of achievement when winning. When playing video games, children do learn alternate ways to solve problems. Children who playvideo games may think and learn differently than those who do not play. Those who tend to cheat in a video games may also do the same when academics are involved. A child s academic ethics and effort seems to reflect when playing video games. In other words, children who play a video gamewith minimal effort seem to give the same amount of effort when academics are concerned. My conclusions include that technology is good for children with special educational needs, it is helpful for young children in that it gives them the tools that they need for success (being bilingual in the technological language), and that it helps children cognitively by finding new ways to solve problems. Technology s Impact on Childhood Development Ever since video games were introduced to the world, the topic on whether or not they benefit or decline a child s progress was a concerning and alarming question. • 12. Comparing the Works of Norman Rockwell and Gary Soto Family happiness is something that many today focus on as an absolute requirement for happy and healthy growth in children. And indeed, it is right that this should be so. In reality, however, challenges such as poverty and racism often affect the happiness that families might experience. When comparing the works created by Norman Rockwell and Gary Soto, however, it becomes clear that familyhappiness is not so much dependent upon wealth as it is upon freedom of expression and freedom from fear. At first glance, the family in Rockwell s painting appears quite happy, with the father and motherboth smiling at the sleepy children. The children also seem peaceful and warm in their bed, and the room appears secure and solid against any elements that might attack from outside. This is, however, where the sense of overprotection begins to reveal itself. The overprotected nature of the children s life is revealed in several visual elements in the painting. First, and most obvious, the mother leans over the children as she puts them to bed. The father also stands close, looking down at them, with a fond smile on his face. While it is clear that they love their children, the parents physical orientation towards their children can be said to hover. Another interesting element in this regard is that the father accompanies the process of putting the children to bed. He stands next to his wife as she works with the children. He does not help, but gives the impression that his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are several different types of statuses that people can achieve from a sociological stand point, but the one I am referring to in the video is achieved statuses. I find myself looking at this trying to, as the sociological term goes, take the role of the other . Taking the role of the other is defined as putting yourself in someone elses shoes; understanding how someone else feels and thinks, so you anticipate how that person will act. If I were to look at Lakshmi for instance, I see that she works in terrible conditions with her family, and that she cares very much for her daughter, Sheetal. I see that she doesn t like the conditions in which her family, or any family in Dharavi for that matter, lives. This has made her provide an education for her daughter, even though it is costly to her own salary. Since she knows how tough it can be to make a living in Dharavi, she has helped with a program called Project Acorn. This helps provide services to other slum dwellers and their children to get an education. She is a very caring person, and wants to see the people of Dharavi get into better living conditions so they aren t suffering or not getting anywhere. • 14. Social Effects Of Social Media And Physical Effects On... Physical Effects Social Media has many different effects on society. One of the major things social media effects is physical health. In comparison to 100 years ago, when Social Media didn t exist, we can compare some major health issues that have been derived from Social Media. Some physical effects include over eating, eating disorders and changing physical appearances to fit in. While I do understand that not all people suffer from the physical problems stemmed from the internet, but 81% of Americans use social media and of that percentage more than 60% have been negatively affected (New York residents only). (n.d.). Lower Self Esteem Scrolling through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., humans tend to automatically compare themselves to others. The most common comparison is appearances. People will completely change their physical appearance to match with whatever is trending. If they do not succeed in mastering the new look, some will consider themselves below average, or ugly. This creates a lot of self doubt especial in youth. Over the last 20 years, cell phone use in the age ranges of 7 18 years old has increased over 75% (Beres, D. (n.d.). Adolescence are exposed to things on the internet that encourages heavy makeup usage and provocative clothing to enhance their physical appearance. The standard in day to day appearances seems to be getting higher and higher as social media usage increases. Food Porn A popular use of Social Media is sharing food ideas with your friends and family. While this is fun and exciting, it can cause some major health risks. Even on a full stomach, watching a video that includes food, triggers hunger. The illusion of seeing food that looks delicious in a photo is that we will crave and attempt to make the recipe on our own...even if our stomachs are completely full. This effect the food videos have on social media is tremendous and it will continue to aide to obesity eating disorders in America. On the complete different spectrum of eating disorders, anorexia and bulimia can be encouraged through social media. Although it is not directly encouraged to starve yourself it s almost implied. The Batten Disease And Its Effects On The Nervous System Neuroscience 4100 Kristen Miller Extra Credit Paper Batten Disease The Batten disease is characterized as an autosomal recessive, fatal disorder that consists of detrimental effects on the nervous system. Although the disease typically presents during childhood, there are many forms that show signs at various ages. Batten disease, also known as Spielmeyer Vogt SjГ¶gren Batten disease, is named after the British pediatrician who first correlated its symptoms with the disease progression in 1903. This disease is the most common type of a group of disorders called neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses, or NCLs. Although Batten disease originally referred specifically to the juvenile form of NCL (JNCL), the term is now increasingly used by pediatricians to describe all forms of NCL. There are four main types of NCL: infantile, late infantile, juvenile and adult. The signs and symptoms of these forms are extremely similar, with the main difference being the age at which the disease presents. Juvenile NCL is classified as the original Batten disease because it is the most common form of the disorder and progresses less rapidly than other types. First symptoms of this progressive disease typically begin to develop between the ages of four and seven, when a previously normal child develops vision complications or seizures (Pearce, 2007). Prohibition Is Not Just An Act Hailie Dudley Mrs. Ernst English 11A 12 8 15 Prohibition Prohibition was not just an act, it was an era that changed American citizens daily lives; although the banning of alcohol sounded like a great idea at the time, the noble experiment as many called it, failed tremendously. Prohibition most certainly started with the noblest of intentions, but in its final days, it left the states with higher crime rates and deadly mobs making a fortune off of the illegal substances. Alcohol was consuming the country; it flowed like water into nearly every home, poorhouse, and it even trickled into the streets with the selling of booze on most busy street corners. As the consumption of alcohol grew, so did tensions in the average american home. The once happy families were being torn apart by the evils of liquors. The average husband worked all day to support his family, then came home and ventured into a afternoon of binge drinking. Many of these husbands would become disgruntled and angry over small civil disputes. A powerful group of activists began to wage a war on alcohol; they made it their mission to eradicate liquor in an effort to help the country return to simpler and more godly times. The movement, known as Prohibition, may well go down as one of the biggest legislative backfires in American history. When I was attending to kindergarten, I started learning how to play the violin. After lunch, I took a lesson from my violin teacher while my mom watched. The teacher was very mean because he yelled at me if I made mistakes despite the fact that I was very young. Although he taught me how to play violin, my mom was the one who made me practice and prepare for next lesson. Therefore, I did what my mom told me to do and practiced the way she wanted me to play. Although my mom said the teacher was very mean to me, she continued to challenge me to play perfectly to show that teacher that I was talented and could do anything that I set my mind on. During the next lesson, according to my mom, he tested me, and I succeeded, and he never yelled at me again According to my mother, his testing was simple. He made me play the violin with him and I had to keep up with him with the same tempo. After I successfully played on incredibly fast duet with him, he told me to play slowly the week after for practice. The reason why I could play ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the penis is only one part of the male reproductive system, which constitutes of a series responsible for generating, storing, and transporting the genetic material contained in the sperm cells. The main organs include: testicles (or testes), the epididymides, the vas deferens, the ejaculatory duct, the urethra, and the penis. A midline septum divides the scrotum into two halves and each testical is covered in two tunics; the Tunica vaginalis from the peritoneum and the Tunica albuginea which is a deeper tunic and a fibrous capsule. The septa from this layer then divides the testes into 250 300 wedge shaped compartments or lobules. It is in these lobules that seminiferous tubules are found, where sperm is made. Each lobule contains about 1 4 seminiferous tubules. The network into which seminiferous tubules empty is called the Rete testis. After which, the epididymis receives sperm from the rete testis network. The scrotum is a loose sac of skin and superficial fascia outside the abdominopelvic cavity, fascia, and smooth muscle that encloses and supports the testes outside the body at an optimum temperature for the production of sperm, about 3 degrees below body temperature. When the temperature is too low, the spermatic cord (This cord is surrounded by skeletal muscle and suspends the testes) tightens thus pulling the testes closer to the body. When the temperature is too hot, the cord relaxes resulting in the testes moving further away from the body. The muscles responsible for this are Cremaster muscles, which extend from the internal obliques and elevate the testes. Most men might have noticed that when this happens, the scrotum skin wrinkles. (O Donnell, 2012, p. 335) Effective writing programs use both modelled, guided and independent teaching strategies to help students comprehend and become successful in their creative writing (NSW Department of Education and Training Curriculum Support Directorate). Graphic organisers can be implemented into this cycle which can be best described as I do , We do and You do (Christian, 2014). For the first stage of I do a graphic organiser can be selected by the teacher and displayed to the class, modelling ways of note taking and using the sections of the organiser to list ideas for further development in the writing task. Modelled writing means both modelling to students how to write and selecting models such as a graphic organiser to demonstrate how writing works (NSW Department of Education and Training Curriculum Support Directorate). The teaching strategy of we do would involve the class making decisions with the guidance of the teacher about what graphic organiser to use and what points they think should be included in the organiser before jointly constructing a narrative. Finally, students can independently select and complete their own individual graphic organisers, known as I do , before then going on to write their own stories. Students ... Every media outlet advertises, and companies like popular fast food restaurants target children. In the process of fattening the children, will their reflexes get slower? At some point in every kid s life, they see an advertisement for a food or toy they want. This want leads to nagging of the parent until they give in. Once hooked at a young age, these children grow up never changing their habits. This leads to dangerous lifestyles and the amount of obesity that is in our society. For example, the movie shows Scout rolling in the tire without even telling the backstory of the Radley s and telling you who Boo is. The movie cut the scenes with the fire at Miss. Maudie s house, and the incident with Ms. Dubose and Jem. The movie didn t really mention Boo as much as I was expecting it to. These changes were most likely made because the director chose to have the movie revolve around the trial. Atticus says it is a sin to kill a mockingbirdat the diner table. The books says this after the children receive airsoft rifles. The children never receive airsoft rifles in the movie. Therefore, the director was forced to work this important line in another... • 47. Analysis Of Disney s The Outer Shell Of Innocence Females everywhere are obsessively trying to alter their appearance to mirror the perfect body images surrounding us in today s media. Body image dominates media everywhere you look, every time you turn your head we are pestered with beautiful women and perfect figures. The overwhelming urge for women to have a body just like the perfect models and idols we see plastered in media has spilled over into our children. Despite the outer shell of innocence, the psychological and sociological effects of Disney figures misrepresent the ideal body image as distorted to perfection and airbrushed to unrealistic; the iconic body image warping an adolescent mind into aiming for unobtainable goals. Although advances on race and gender through becoming more culturally rounded and balancing the demands of the public Disney fails in forwarding their portrayal of accurate body image. Princesses along with other female protagonists are displayed with size double zero waists, skinny limbs, and even small feet to the point where bone structure is nonexistent. This unnatural, body size presented in Disney s animated characters however, is what society calls for and demands. The thin ideal has existed in American culture since the 1960s, and it is still increasingly popular today in numerous forms of media; forty years later its impact has been so devastating it has become an expected norm. Our society views a narrow, fragile figure as beautiful, and the media reflects that. In addition to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
