Essay On Social Justice
Embarking on the task of writing an essay on the topic of social justice is a challenging endeavor
that demands a comprehensive understanding of a complex and multifaceted subject. Social
justice encompasses a wide range of issues related to fairness, equality, and the distribution of
resources in society. As a writer, one must navigate through a myriad of social, economic, and
political dimensions to present a well-rounded and informed perspective.
Researching the historical context of social justice movements, understanding the current state of
affairs, and analyzing the various theories and approaches to addressing inequities are just a few
of the preliminary challenges. The writer must grapple with the nuances of intersectionality,
acknowledging the interconnectedness of various social identities such as race, gender, class, and
more. This adds layers of complexity to the analysis, making it imperative to explore the
interplay between different forms of oppression and privilege.
Crafting a compelling thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of social justice, while
providing a roadmap for the essay, is no small feat. The essay should strike a balance between
presenting an overarching view of social justice and delving into specific issues and case studies
that illustrate the challenges and progress in achieving a just society. Moreover, the writer must
be conscious of the language used, ensuring sensitivity to diverse perspectives and experiences.
The task becomes even more daunting when considering the need for practical solutions.
Identifying actionable steps and policies to promote social justice requires a thorough
understanding of the systemic issues at play and an awareness of potential unintended
consequences. Balancing idealistic aspirations with pragmatic considerations adds another layer
of complexity to the writing process.
In conclusion, composing an essay on social justice demands not only a keen intellect but also a
deep sense of empathy and awareness. It is a task that requires the writer to navigate through a
maze of theories, historical events, and contemporary issues, all while maintaining a nuanced
and inclusive perspective. However, with dedication and a commitment to social understanding,
a well-crafted essay on social justice can contribute meaningfully to the ongoing discourse
surrounding equity and fairness in society.

Who Is The Monster In Jeffery Cohen s Monster Culture
Your pupils dilate. The pounding of your heart is so intense it feels like there isn t
enough room for it in your chest. Blood surging with adrenaline begins to course
through your veins. Numbness overcomes your face as each inhaled breath comes
faster than the last. As a musician trying to keep the beat with a metronome, you
begin to feel time as the temples on the sides of your head pulsate with every second

the decision to be devoured, cower away, or stand and fight. Only then do you realize

Cohen further explains this, A construct and a projection, the monster exists only
to be read: the monstrum is etymologically that which reveals, that which signifies
something other than itself (Cohen, 12). The Green Knight showed Sir Gawain his
inability to keep the chivalrous code, But a little thing more it was loyalty that you
lacked: not because you re wicked, or a womanizer, or worse, but you loved your
own life; so I blame you less (Unknown, 777). Gawain came to the realization that
he was like everyone else alluding to an allegory of the humanity of the nobles
who lived at the time this story was written. This could have served as a message
for them, regardless of all their pomp and circumstance, and adherence to a code of
chivalry that they were just as susceptible as everyone else, unable to protect
themselves from the plague. The lessons taken away by Sir Gawain could also
serve to encourage the elites to be willing to work with the growing middle class.

Descriptive Essay About Delaware County Fair
One beautiful Saturday morning, I woke excited about going to Delaware County
Fair as if I was the same age as my young daughter. The day was looking beautiful, as
the weather was like a typical fall morning. The breeze I could hear through the
window; I felt like this was the perfect day to go to the fair. I opened the door of my
daughters room to wake them up; I turned on the lights and yelled It s morning. My
oldest daughter looked at me with one eye half way open and said It is not morning.
The sky was still dark as it was a cloudy morning. I told her We have to go to the fair
early so we can stay there all day. They both jump on me giving me hangs and
kisses, as this was the first time they went a fair. As much as I was... Show more

As the cars proceed there were workers standing in front of the gate, taking money
for entering the fair. When we enter the gate, there were more workers directing the
cars where to park. After I parked the car, I started to smell of a popcorn and food.
My younger daughter Aisha said Mamma Popcorn as she saw the popcorn stand
right before you enter the fair. I looked around and the saw all the fun colorful rides,
food stands, people, and the most amazing voice I ever heard. I walk down through
the rides while my daughters were asking to ride them. I followed that amazing
singing voice, finally I saw the face of the girl who was singing. As I approached
to sit down, my children pull on my dress Let s go mamma. After one song, I
walked back to take my daughter for some fun rides. We purchased a band for all
day rides from the ticket stand. My daughter, Fatima, shouted I want to go on the
dinozer ride which she meant dinosaur ride. The people around were families with
children, but I noticed there was a grandmother sitting alone by one of benches
near the dino ride. I thought the old lady was alone, so I went and sat next to her
as my children were on the ride. I said Hi to show some respect, but she did not
reply. I felt awkward sitting next to someone who just ignored me, What a racist
person these thoughts were running in my head. As the ride was over in the longest

Negative Effects Of European Expansion During The 16th
And...
European expansion during the 16th and 17th century was considered an assault on
the non European world because of the number of negative effects that European
presence caused. The first major effect was the African slave trade, which had a
negative impact on the indigenous people. The need for laborers increase and since
the Native Americans fell susceptible to disease; the Europeans went to Africafor their
workers. According to the first presentation, Europes Assault on the World, The most
tragic and reprehensible impact of European expansion was the revival of slavery,
which had all but disappeared from Europe by the year 1000. (Slide 17). Another
negative effect that European expansion caused was the spread of only one culture.
According to the third presentation, Europe s Assault on the World, From the earliest
stages of prehistory the cultural trends had always been toward differentiation. (Slide
2). However, Europeans felt they were superior to everyone else and would disturb
other cultures they encountered. Religion was one area where they felt they knew
everything and possessed the correct one. Christianity, the Europeans thought was the
one true religion. According to the reading, Their religion was always present as a
cultural fact and this gave Europeans the assurance that they were superior to the
peoples they came in contact with for the first time. This would often result in violent
exchanges between the two groups. The arrogance of the Europeans and their religion

around Cape Horn to California. When trying to recall his motives for becoming a

At this bay they felt as though they were in a Christian country because they saw the

that the Mexican revenue laws are very strict and required the whole cargo to be
landed, examined, and taken on board again. All the officers here wore the same
costume, . ..broad brimmed hat...a short jacket of silk or figured calico...the shirt

skin shoes, a sash around the waist, and a cloak. The cloak is a mark of the rank of
wealth of the owner. Aristocracy wear cloaks of black or dark blue with lots of
velvet, Indians wear a sort of blanket, middle class wear a large tablecloth. There is
no working class among the Spaniards. The rich look like grandees, and the poor
look broken down. Dana sees the Californians as . ..thriftless people, and can make
nothing for themselves (86). Dana talks about how they have an abundance of
grapes, but buy bad wine from Boston for high prices. They give their expensive
hides in exchange for things valued way below the value of their hides. Dana and his
shipmates got a good sense of how the Californians dressed, talked,
Examples Of Teenage Rebellion In Catcher In The Rye
Holden Caulfield: Teenage Rebellion Phony is defined as a fake or an ingenuine
person, this word was used most often by no other than Holden Caulfield, the most
recognizable teenager in American literature. To truly understand who Holden
Caulfield is, we must take a trip back in time to the 50s. The 1950swas a decade of
prosperity and conformity, life in the 50s was simply peaceful. However, in the
summer of 1951, J.D Salinger published a book entitled The Catcher in the Rye , the
main protagonist of the novel, Holden Caulfield, described the 1950s as a disgusting
and phony era. Holden himself is depicted as a teenager disillusioned by the adult
world. Holden finds the hypocrisy of the adult world to be almost intolerable, with
this mindset, he alienates himself from the society and he soon realized that he
wants to become a catcher in the rye , which is to be a guardian of children,
protecting them from the ugliness of adulthood and the process of maturity. The
fuel that drove Holden to become who he is today was that of his childhood sibling
loss, after the tragedy, Holden became desperate and infuriated. Almost 70 years
later, Holden Caulfield still resonates in American culture, this leaves reviews
questioning, why was the novel so meaningful and popular? Salinger s universal
idea of alienation and phoniness gave rise to the novel, never has anyone seen
such a controversial book, but no one realized that Salinger s message is pointed
toward the faults of the American society. Throughout the novel, Salinger
provided numerous clues indicating his message to the readers about his belief
about the American society. One clue is when Holden mentions the phoniness in
the adult world, he can t help but judge a person based on his or her speech and
appearance. For example, in the novel, Holden decided that he is not fond of a
businessman, therefore, he states: You should see old Ossenburger... He started off
with about fifty corny jokes, just to show us what a regular guy he was...That
killed me... He was telling us all about what a swell guy he was, what a hot shot
and all. I can just see the big phony bastard shifting into first gear and asking Jesus
to send him a few more stiffs (Salinger 23). From this
The Effects Of Tobacco And Tobacco
United States attention has shifted from communicable disease to chronic disease
throughout the years. One of the leading cause of death today has been
cardiovascular disease caused mainly by tobacco. Tobacco is the leading cause of
chronic disease and death in the United States. Today, not only are traditional
cigarettes playing a toll on one s health but so are E cigarettes. E cigarettes are
different compared to tobacco, as they contain liquefied nicotineand they produce
vapor as opposed to harmful smoke from cigarettes. Moreover, vaping has little
effect on the lungs unlike tobacco. E cigarettes are devices that allow users to inhale
an aerosol containing nicotine or other substances. Nicotine is one of the more than
4,000 chemicals in cigarettes and is what causes users to become so addicted. As
nicotine stimulates the body, it speeds up the nervous system. According to National
Institute of Health (NIH), Each year, approximately 443,000 Americans die from
tobacco related illnesses (2016). Some of the health effects of smokinge cigarettes and
tobacco are that it causes most lung cancer, can cause attacks for those who have
asthma, heart disease, impaired immune system, shorter lifespan, emphysema and
other chronic disease, etc,. High concentrations of nicotine may put non users at risk
for second hand smoking, particularly children. One of the main concern groups for
public health professionals who are trying to reduce tobacco usage are young adults.

Mere Education
Lions, magic, secret worlds, these are the words that pop into mind when the
name of C.S. Lewis is mentioned. Many are familiar with his series The
Chronicles of Narnia, but Lewis is also well known for his other fantasy books, as
well as apologetic writings. However, as Mark Pike (2013) broaches in Mere
Education: C.S. Lewis as Teacher for our Time, ...even fifty years after his death...
the remarkable, some would say prophetic, insights he offered concerning the
education and schooling of your people are not so well known (p. 9). Pike (2013)
goes on to state that his purpose in composing this book is to take Lewis ideas on
education, which are scattered throughout his literary work, and make them more
straightforward and accessible to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Possibly the most obvious example of this would be found in the discussion
questions at the end of each chapter. Through these, Pike has the reader think
deeply about the content, while also incorporating examples for their own lives,
and determining steps to take to live it out. Yet Pike also uses models from Lewis
books, such as Ransom from the science fiction story, That Hideous Strength. Pike
(2013) describes Ransom as a leader who has good interpersonal skills , and who
is, clear about his decision[s] and gives reasons for it (p. 139). By taking themes
from Lewis , and illustrating these themes through characters, Pike is able to present
a clear model for today s educator. One who understands developing a moral
character, who explains it to others, and who lives it out in their own life (Pike,

Language is common in the world it is the way humans communicate and relate to
things with one another.Language is a powerful tool in the world because it can give
power to people and can be used to manipulate through renaming people, stereotyping

Language influence can be witnessed in Haig Bosmajian book The Language Of
Oppression where the essay shares how language can be used to manipulate Names.
Names can be used to bring value or degradation to people. The degradation of human

eventually managed to spread through to other parts of South Africalike Gauteng and
Durban. In the following essay I will be doing a literature review of the meaning of

People who are xenophobic may display fear or even rage toward others who are of
foreign descent, even as xenophobia is often used interchangeably with terms such

Xenophobia has numerous different effects on the different people suffering

resulted in despicable acts of violence by black South Africans on other foreign

These foreign nationals some of which are shop owners are being ruined by looters

Colonization of a root occurs at fine scales with growth and movement of fungal
mycelia through soil. However, epidemics are observed at coarser scales and depend
on a cascading spread through populations of roots.
5.1. Factors influencing the soil borne plant pathogens :
a) Moisture: Moisture is of utmost importance for pathogenic fungi and bacteria.
Rain splash plays an important role in the dispersal of some fungi and nearly all
bacteria, and a period of leaf wetness is necessary for the germination of spores.
Propagules germinate in the presence of water and are dispersed. Because the
process of germination and infection takes time, the duration of leaf wetness also
affects the occurrence of the infection. The duration necessary for infection varies
with temperature. Usually, a longer period of leaf wetness is needed to establish an
infection in cooler temperatures, as germination and infection are generally
accelerated in warmer conditions.
b) Temperature: Temperature affects the incubation or latent period (the time
between infection and the appearance of disease symptoms), the generation time (the
time between infection and sporulation), and the infectious period (the time during
which the pathogen keeps producing propagules). The period of leaf wetness and
temperature information is being used to predict outbreaks of diseases (infection
periods) and can be helpful in prophylactic
Concert Chamber Music Analysis
The concert Chamber Music by Two, Three and Four was made up of three
different pieces. Each of the three pieces were composed by, in order, W. A.
Mozart, M. Ravel, and J. Brahms. Performing the pieces were Alicia Eppinga on the
cello, Barbara Corbato on the viola, Mark Clinton on the piano, and Mihai
Craioveanu on violin. These musicians performed sub sections within the pieces
known as movements, which brought their own sense of individuality to the piece
while still creating a sense of unity across the board.
The first piece consisted of piano, violin, and cello. In each of the movements, there
were different musical contexts and styles that lead to the creation of a story the
different phases of life. As the entire piece progressed, the tonality shifted from being
very light hearted, energetic, and happy in the first movement, to a calmer more
relaxing mood in the second, to a more tense and high strung character in the last.
There were more noteworthy characteristics of the piece other than the shifts in tone.
For example, the piano seemed to remain the dominant instrument throughout the
whole piece while the violin and the cello accented it and added depth to the different
movements creating a homophonic texture. Throughout the second movement, the
violin and cello mimicked the melodies of the piano quite a bit as well. Tempos also
varied according to the movement, contributing to their tones. Allegro in the first and
last movements created the upbeat and intense

Factors Affecting Customer Satisfaction And The...
As you requested on February 20, 2017, I have examined the causes for the apparent
decrease in customer satisfaction and the contributing factors. This report presents
data describing how these factors have combined to leave customers feeling
dissatisfied and looking for alternate providers and other means of travel, along with
my recommendations to increase customerservice and attract new customers.
Over the last year, flight problems such as cancellations and delays along with
baggage issues have accounted for 50% of all consumer complaints. Ticketing,
boarding, and security issues have accounted for another 15% of all complaints filed

Michael Pollan Leadership
Introduction: Leaders are motivators, innovators, and passionate individuals.
Through their hard work and personality, leaders are able to set goals for themselves
to create positive change both on their own and with others. Michael Pollan, an
author, food activist, journalist and professor at UC Berkeley, demonstrates and
actively practices key leadership skills that I find both inspiring and thoughtful. His
system thinking approach to his own personal learning, to leading others, and his
approach to health promotion is what makes him an exemplary leader that Kouzes
and Posner would approve of.
For the past 25 years Michael Pollan had dedicated his life s work towards educating
others on the importance of nature and culture, and why the ... Show more content on

Our food system, agricultural system, and healthcare system involve many
stakeholders which make any amount of positive change very difficult to
accomplish, but this does not stop Michael Pollan from pursuing and envisioning a
more sustainable way of living for all people. When he first began his work of
health promotion it was during a time of food confusion and a national health crisis.
He seized that moment and 25 years later his passion and purpose for his work is still
evident. He continues to try and help others understand the connection between our
health, the health of our nation, and the health of the environment. He supports the
development of new farm policies that support local farmers rather than large
industries such as the sugar industry. He also encourages people to think about how
their daily lives of consumerism perpetuate our reliance on fossil fuels and the
consequences that has on our environment (Oke, 2016). Although change occurs
slowly and can sometimes feel nonexistent, I believe the work of Michael Pollan and
others like him is making a
Target News Report Example
On March 15, 2017, an unidentified woman walked into Target in Alexandria,
Virginia. Although this story may sound absurd, I find it very ridiculous that
something like this actually happened. Police are looking for a woman who came
into the store dressed as a Target employee. Anyone who has ever been to target
knows what a Target employee wears to work, a red shirt with khakis. It may also
be a coincidence that this lady came in dressed like that. The outcome was
compeltely opposite. It turns out that this woman walked into Target dressed as an
employee in order to go into the stockroom and ended up stealing $400,000 worth of
iPhones. The police report also stated that the woman is not affiliated with the store,
but she appears to have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Who knows, but on the bright side, I felt as if I was working for the FBI
attempting to investigate this case. The article that I found that was fake was the
article about the dead body found under the bed that has been there for at least 5
years. I first found this article on snopes. However, when I looked up the article on
google, I found it on a website called Empire News. Instantly I knew that the article
was obviously fake because at the top of the page, there is an option that says write
for Empire News. Since the author did not even bother to include their name, it
seemed very sketchy to me. Obviously, being able to create and account and write
for a credible news source is not something that can be easily done. Also, with the
fake article, there were no photographs or videos that had a time stamp on it, in
order to be able to verify that the story occurred when the article said it did. Another
thing was that in the fake article, it stated that the owners from the motel asked that
their name and location be omitted from news reports in order to be able to protect
their business. The problem is that they later then wrote a quote from an employee.
If anyone was attempting to actually figure out the name of the motel, they could
figure it out through her name. I imagine that my fake article would have been

Famine, Affluence And Morality By Peter Singer
Famine, Affluence, and Morality is a well known article written by Peter Singer that
was published in Philosophy and Public Affairs in 1972. Peter Singer is an Australian
utilitarian philosopher, and in Famine, Affluence, and Morality he argues that more
fortunate people should be required to help those in need or at least give significantly
more than what is currently being given. The essay focuses on the Great Bengal
Faminethat occurred in 1971, Singer mentions how reluctant the western world was
to aid those in need and he blames it on the fact that it was a crisis that was
happening far away from the western world. One of Singer s main points is, If it is

Principals of Ethics Regarding New Reproductive Technologies
Introduction
Reproductive technology has advanced in recent years and with that advancement
has come a debate on what is ethical, moral or beneficial to those who are involved.
Applying the principles of ethics to reproductive technologies can aid health
professionals toward the best outcome for everyone involved. With applying the ethic
principles, one must first choose whose welfare that is being considered the potential
parents, the embryo, or both? An embryo is not able to convey autonomy, but people
still consider its welfare anyway. There are existing conflicts as to when during
development does an embryo become a human being that has rights. There are many

Merit Pay For Performance Plan
Executive Summary Merit pay is a short term, pay for performance plan, with a
typical life span of three to four years, in which employers provide rewards, usually
in terms of a raise for past performance, for employees who perform their jobs
effectively, which will lead to higher performing employees which will in turn lead
to a better work environment and higher overall productivity. The concept of merit
pay is most often mentioned in the context of educational and/or government civil
service reform. With a merit based pay system, the employer pays, with the idea
that the employer will reward more productive employees with merit increases.
This concept came about in an attempt to sustain high performance levels in the
workplace linking merit increases, or increases in base pay, to employee
performance ratings, which are taken at the end of a performance year, usually by
a direct supervisor. Due to the ever increasing changes of supply and demand in
business, in order to remain feasible, the merit pay system is expected to change
consistently with the needs presented to the companies, whether it be foreign
competition, consumer demands, producer limitations, etc. Pay for performance
plans are formal compensation systems that are directly related to organizational or
individual performance. The United States Department of Labor defined pay for
performance as a raise in pay based on a set of criteria put in place by employers, and
notes that the Fair Labor Standards Act,
Matt Kelley Research Paper
When Matt Kelley was growing up in the United States, he often thought to himself,
Who am I?
Of course, there is nothing unusual about this; most teenagers ask themselves the
same question from time to time. But Matt s problem was special. When he saw
his schoolmates, he didn t see anyone who looked like him. There were white kids
and black kids, Asian kids and Hispanic kids, but none like him. And when Matt
went home and switched on the TV or opened a magazine, he still didn t see anyone
who was quite like him.

He soon realized that there were lots of multiracial people in the U.S. and that they
didn t really have a place to discuss their experiences3 . So in 1998, when Matt was

Hebrew, is a magazine for young multiracial people who want to read about other
people of mixed race and their experiences. It publishes articles about the unique
problems that affect multiracial teens and invites its readers to write their own stories
for publication in the magazine.
In a recent survey, when a group of American teens were asked if they had ever
dated someone of a different race or ethnic background, 60% said yes. This, and
the popularity of murtiracial celebrities4 like Tiger Woods, Halle Berry, Lenny
Kravitz and Mariah Carey, has made people reconsider the old concepts of race.
Multiracial means disregarding old models, explains Matt Kelley. It means there are
no boundaries to race. We can be comfortable being whatever we want to be.
Today, in addition to editing his magazine, Matt is President of the MAVIN

Resplendent Quetzal Research Paper
Title:
Does the characteristics of Resplendent Quetzal s tail such as its length and color
difference affect male s mating success during the courtship?
Abstract:
The resplendent quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno) is a bird in the trogon family. It
is found from Chiapas, Mexico to western Panama. It is well known for its colorful
plumage. This species is 36 to 40 cm (14 16 in) long, plus up to 65 cm (26 in) of tail
streamer for the male, and weighs about 210 g. Resplendent quetzals have a green
body (showing iridescence from green gold to blue violet) and red breast. Their
green upper tail coverts hide their tails and in breeding males are particularly
splendid, being longer than the rest of the body. The primary wing coverts are also

This trait not only influences the mating success of male resplendent quetzal, but also
influencing the number of offspring in the living environment. If the results of this
experiment reject my null hypothesis, which means that my hypothesis of the longer
tail length of male resplendent quetzal, the higher rate for successful mating will be
successfully established. Thus the characteristic of the long tail will increase
resplendent quetzal s adaptability and leads to fitness. If the results of my experiment
do not reject my null hypothesis, then the tail length is not an adaptation to increase
fitness. There might be some possible errors during the experiment that leads to the
wrong answer such as the monogamy breeding behavior of resplendent quetzal.
However, there might be other interesting adaptations that are not been tested and we
can still use this trait to investigate another function, for example, instead of tail
length that may affect the mating success, the brightness of the color of the tail may
be the trait that can increase the fitness of breeding. By investigating how different
brightness of the tail may influence the mating success, I would like to have three
male and female resplendent quetzals with similar behaviors and characteristics as
my test samples. Because most color that appear among quetzal species are green,
thus, I would like to paint each quetzal s tail with

Topic 1
Registration of sex offenders is mandatory under the Sex Offender Registration and
Notification Act (SORNA). It provides the general qualifications of one to be
registered as a sex offender. It requires registered sex offenders to give updated
information on their addresses, place of work or school and to make physical
appearances at legible offices to verify the updates. SORNA determines the
information that a registered sex offender should submit and makes it available to the
public (SMART).
The constitution of Massachusetts is a subordinate to the constitution of United
States, as would any other state s constitution be. It is therefore mandated to register
sex offenders within its borders. The presence of decentralized statutes in the different
states however results to different regulations on registration of sex offenders among
many other laws. The constitution of Massachusetts abundantly outlines what is
considered as sexual crimes and offenses. Not all of them, however, require their
perpetuators to register as sexual offenders. Some examples of the major crimes that
would mandate registration are such as rape, assault with the aim of committing rape,
kidnapping a child and introducing a minor to prostitution. The rest of the crimes
mandated for registration are further listed an outlined on http://www.mass.gov/eopss

Taking Up A Dark Path
I could count on one hand how many times I drank before college so I wasn t
prepared for what was in front of me. Sitting on my college roommates desk were a
few shot glasses with Burnets. I didn t plan on drinking, but desperate for my
roommate to like me, I accepted a few shots. The alcohol hit me fast and hard and
changed my life forever. Sitting in my desk chair was the girl that would soon be
my best friend for the next year and a half, Savannah. Little did I know, I would go
down a dark path. Every weekend I would party with her. I loved life. My sense of
responsibility and doing what was best for me diminished. I had grown to love the
partying lifestyle and never wanted the party to stop. Around finals everyone was
buying Adderall. I had never done a drug before besides an antibiotic. I took a pill
the day of my Biology exam. I figured Adderall metabolized quickly and left the
body. Dead wrong. I knew nothing about drugs. That night I partied. At first I was
having a blast. I was laughing and dancing my heart out. Three hours later, I lost
all ability to control my legs. I could not feel them nor could I put pressure on
them. The mixture of Adderall and alcohol could have done permanent damage but
at the time I didn t care. I had to be driven home and carried inside. The whole time
I thought the situation was amusing. It was the first time I had ever blacked out.

The Effects Of Bath Salts On Teenagers
Dangers of Bath Salts Abuse in Teenagers
Bath salts have become extremely popular among teenagers for the past 5 years. This
is not the kind of substance that you use for bathing. These are synthetic cathinones
that act similarly as a khat plant. They have similar effects as that of the other illegal
substances which are covertly sold in parties, concerts and music festivals.
Bath salts are usually sold as a white or off white powder which is mostly in small
plastic or foil packages that are packed as not for human consumption . It can also be
referred by drug dealers as jewelry cleaners, plant food, or phone screen cleaner
which can be bought online or headshops. There are just the terms they use to avoid
being detected by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being a stimulant, it is a drug of choice among people who wants to get high to clear
their thoughts from any pain, disappointment or fear. Some individuals may feel that
they could not go on with their lives having to deal with the everyday stress for
which they turn to drugs with the hope of being relieved from all the negativities and
be relaxed.
It is quite common among teens to use bath salts because it can be a more
inexpensive compared to other drugs. Users may find it easier to purchase bath
salts since they can only be bought online at $20 per gram compared to other drugs
which can be as high as $80 per gram.
Facts and Figures on Bath Salts Abuse
It was in 2010 when bath salt addiction became popular in the United States. Several
reports revealed that there were people having unlikely behavior such as eating other
people s faces and all other erratic behaviors. Prior to this, bath salt addiction was
never a public health concern nor any parent s nightmare.
Over 22,000 ER visits in 2011 were reported by SAMHSA due to the use of synthetic
cathinones.
It significantly dropped to 2,691 in 2012 and 996 in 2013. The decline continues until
this time.
In 2012, 91 people were arrested and there were 167,000 bags of synthetic cathinone
seized from the government operation.
There are over 150 new types of cathinones developed in 2012.
Bath salts use is common among people in their 20 s although there are also reported
that at least 1%
Ucsf Stanford Healthcare – Why They Merged and Why
the...
In 1997 University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) merged its two public
hospitals with Stanford s two private hospitals. The two separate entities merged
together to create a not for profit organization titled UCSF Stanford Health Care. The
merger between the health systems at UCSF and Stanford seemed like a good idea
due to the similar missions, proximity of institutions, increased financial pressure
with cutbacks in Medicare reimbursements followed by a dramatic increase in
managed care organizations. The first year UCSF Stanford HealthCare produced a
profit of $22 million, however three years later the health system had lost a total of
$176 million ( UCSF Stanford Merger, n.d.). The first part of this paper will address
reasons... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On paper, the merger between these two institutions made sense both institutions
were close to one another and competing for diminishing resources. Together they
could reduce administrative costs and join forces to negotiate with large insurance
companies. The need to create a new culture and dissolve historically existent
power struggles were two large tasks that needed to be addressed in order to ensure
a successful merger. However, the way in which the merger was organized did not
lead to a successful merger. UCSF Health Care did not spend adequate time creating a
shared culture in which the two organizations would see one joint organization with
shared power (resources). On paper both organizations agreed to share power,
however both parties behavior showed otherwise. Dr.Rizk Norman, co chair of the
combined physician group of UCSF and Stanford faculty, attests that neither
institution was ever comfortable enough to share financial information( UCSF,
Stanford hospitals just too different, n.d.). UCSF did not fully disclose their fiscal
concerns regarding one of their sinking hospitals, while Stanford was also guilty of
withholding information ( UCSF, Stanford hospitals just too different, n.d.). Merging
into one should eliminate the sense of two separate entities, however not enough was
done to shape the merger in such
What Is The Significance Of Dragons In Western Culture

Eastern Legends, Folklore Mythology
Dragons have an incredibly long history...pun intended. Unlike in western
Mythology ancient Asian dragons aren t fire breathing, princess kidnapping,
terrorizing creatures that only the bravest of knights of the round table can slay.
Nor do they eat people or attack villages and castles. In western culture the
dragon represents evil and darkness. These dragons usually have sharp teeth
muscular bodies and strong legs. They bring suffering to humankind and are a
symbol of fear and strength.
Dragons in and throughout China, as well as most places in Asia are know as
the symbol of nobility, holiness, solemness, and good fortune. ... Show more content

Eastern and Chinese
dragons are portrayed as auspicious Creatures with magical powers. They coex
ist in heaven with the gods and when Buddhists achieve transcendence they
ascend to heaven by ridding on the back of a dragon. These dragons are be
lieved by the people to be deities. They are wise, compassionate, and watch
over the people keeping them safe.
The presence of dragons within the Chinese culture dates back thousands of
years. There is a dragon statue that was dated back to the 5th millennium BC
from the yungshao period. Chinese dragons are strongly associated with water
and in popular belief they re believed to be the rulers of moving bodies of water
such as waterfalls, rivers or seas. In the traditional Chinese believes there are
four major dragon kings which represents the four major seas; the East sea cor
responding to the East China Sea, the south sea corresponding to the South
China Sea, The west sea corresponding to the Indian Ocean and beyond, and
The North Sea corresponding to lake Baikal. Because of this association with
the seas they are seen as being in charge of water related weather phe
nomenon. In ancient times many villages near water and seas had temples
Vlad The Impaler Controversy
Throughout history, there have been many people who have wandered off the path
of morality and into the field of controversy. Empress Wu Zetian (She was
responsible for the major expansion of the Chinese empire who did not hesitate to
murder anyone who stood in her path.), Adolf Hitler (He is the man responsible for
one of biggest genocides in history.), and Bashar Al Assad (The man who denied
citizens of Syria basic rights and used violence to stay in command.) are some of
the world s most controversial leaders in mankind s history. However, there is one
whose legacy has evolved from a raging warmonger into the supernatural monster
known as Count Dracula , his name is Vlad the Impaler. But what makes Vlad such
a controversial historical figure? To answer this we must not only look into the past
to find out who Dracula was, we also have to look into how the story came to be and
what made... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Born in Sigismund, Romania on December of 1431, Vlad Tepes became prince of
Wallachia in 1436. Since then, Vlad the Impaler used ruthless and contentious
methods to build and expand his empire in 15th century Europe. Vlad s use of cruel
and inhumane punishment is what makes him such a controversial leader in history.
Vlad s views on punishment were very barbaric. He was known for punishing men,
women, and even children. According to Criminological Controversies: A
Methodological Primer (1996): Prince Vlad may have executed as many as 20
percent of his population, using methods that were highly likely (if not certain), swift
(no lengthy trials there), and severe (by today s standards, cruel and unusual). This
quote comes from the book Criminological Controversies: A Methodological Primer
published in 1996. This book delves deep into the world of

Essay On Social Justice.pdfEssay On Social Justice. Social Justice System - Free Essay Example PapersOwl.com

  • 1. Essay On Social Justice Embarking on the task of writing an essay on the topic of social justice is a challenging endeavor that demands a comprehensive understanding of a complex and multifaceted subject. Social justice encompasses a wide range of issues related to fairness, equality, and the distribution of resources in society. As a writer, one must navigate through a myriad of social, economic, and political dimensions to present a well-rounded and informed perspective. Researching the historical context of social justice movements, understanding the current state of affairs, and analyzing the various theories and approaches to addressing inequities are just a few of the preliminary challenges. The writer must grapple with the nuances of intersectionality, acknowledging the interconnectedness of various social identities such as race, gender, class, and more. This adds layers of complexity to the analysis, making it imperative to explore the interplay between different forms of oppression and privilege. Crafting a compelling thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of social justice, while providing a roadmap for the essay, is no small feat. The essay should strike a balance between presenting an overarching view of social justice and delving into specific issues and case studies that illustrate the challenges and progress in achieving a just society. Moreover, the writer must be conscious of the language used, ensuring sensitivity to diverse perspectives and experiences. The task becomes even more daunting when considering the need for practical solutions. Identifying actionable steps and policies to promote social justice requires a thorough understanding of the systemic issues at play and an awareness of potential unintended consequences. Balancing idealistic aspirations with pragmatic considerations adds another layer of complexity to the writing process. In conclusion, composing an essay on social justice demands not only a keen intellect but also a deep sense of empathy and awareness. It is a task that requires the writer to navigate through a maze of theories, historical events, and contemporary issues, all while maintaining a nuanced and inclusive perspective. However, with dedication and a commitment to social understanding, a well-crafted essay on social justice can contribute meaningfully to the ongoing discourse surrounding equity and fairness in society. The Green Knight showed Sir Gawain his inability to keep the chivalrous code, But a little thing more it was loyalty that you lacked: not because you re wicked, or a womanizer, or worse, but you loved your own life; so I blame you less (Unknown, 777). Gawain came to the realization that he was like everyone else alluding to an allegory of the humanity of the nobles who lived at the time this story was written. This could have served as a message for them, regardless of all their pomp and circumstance, and adherence to a code of chivalry that they were just as susceptible as everyone else, unable to protect themselves from the plague. The lessons taken away by Sir Gawain could also serve to encourage the elites to be willing to work with the growing middle class. The day was looking beautiful, as the weather was like a typical fall morning. The breeze I could hear through the window; I felt like this was the perfect day to go to the fair. I opened the door of my daughters room to wake them up; I turned on the lights and yelled It s morning. My oldest daughter looked at me with one eye half way open and said It is not morning. European expansion during the 16th and 17th century was considered an assault on the non European world because of the number of negative effects that European presence caused. The first major effect was the African slave trade, which had a negative impact on the indigenous people. The need for laborers increase and since the Native Americans fell susceptible to disease; the Europeans went to Africafor their workers. • 8. Examples Of Teenage Rebellion In Catcher In The Rye Holden Caulfield: Teenage Rebellion Phony is defined as a fake or an ingenuine person, this word was used most often by no other than Holden Caulfield, the most recognizable teenager in American literature. To truly understand who Holden Caulfield is, we must take a trip back in time to the 50s. The 1950swas a decade of prosperity and conformity, life in the 50s was simply peaceful. However, in the summer of 1951, J.D Salinger published a book entitled The Catcher in the Rye , the main protagonist of the novel, Holden Caulfield, described the 1950s as a disgusting and phony era. Holden himself is depicted as a teenager disillusioned by the adult world. Holden finds the hypocrisy of the adult world to be almost intolerable, with this mindset, he alienates himself from the society and he soon realized that he wants to become a catcher in the rye , which is to be a guardian of children, protecting them from the ugliness of adulthood and the process of maturity. The fuel that drove Holden to become who he is today was that of his childhood sibling loss, after the tragedy, Holden became desperate and infuriated. Almost 70 years later, Holden Caulfield still resonates in American culture, this leaves reviews questioning, why was the novel so meaningful and popular? Salinger s universal idea of alienation and phoniness gave rise to the novel, never has anyone seen such a controversial book, but no one realized that Salinger s message is pointed toward the faults of the American society. Throughout the novel, Salinger provided numerous clues indicating his message to the readers about his belief about the American society. One clue is when Holden mentions the phoniness in the adult world, he can t help but judge a person based on his or her speech and appearance. For example, in the novel, Holden decided that he is not fond of a businessman, therefore, he states: You should see old Ossenburger... He started off with about fifty corny jokes, just to show us what a regular guy he was...That killed me... He was telling us all about what a swell guy he was, what a hot shot and all. I can just see the big phony bastard shifting into first gear and asking Jesus to send him a few more stiffs (Salinger 23). From this

However, epidemics are observed at coarser scales and depend on a cascading spread through populations of roots. 5.1. Factors influencing the soil borne plant pathogens : a) Moisture: Moisture is of utmost importance for pathogenic fungi and bacteria. Rain splash plays an important role in the dispersal of some fungi and nearly all bacteria, and a period of leaf wetness is necessary for the germination of spores. Propagules germinate in the presence of water and are dispersed. Because the process of germination and infection takes time, the duration of leaf wetness also affects the occurrence of the infection. The duration necessary for infection varies with temperature. Usually, a longer period of leaf wetness is needed to establish an infection in cooler temperatures, as germination and infection are generally accelerated in warmer conditions. b) Temperature: Temperature affects the incubation or latent period (the time between infection and the appearance of disease symptoms), the generation time (the time between infection and sporulation), and the infectious period (the time during which the pathogen keeps producing propagules). The period of leaf wetness and temperature information is being used to predict outbreaks of diseases (infection periods) and can be helpful in prophylactic

So mentally, silently, without a phone, I had a long, last talk with my sister Mary across the many miles, assuring her even before she left us, she didn t have to fear anymore, and I knew she was already in the presence of Divine LOVE. Merit Pay For Performance Plan Executive Summary Merit pay is a short term, pay for performance plan, with a typical life span of three to four years, in which employers provide rewards, usually in terms of a raise for past performance, for employees who perform their jobs effectively, which will lead to higher performing employees which will in turn lead to a better work environment and higher overall productivity. The concept of merit pay is most often mentioned in the context of educational and/or government civil service reform. With a merit based pay system, the employer pays, with the idea that the employer will reward more productive employees with merit increases. This concept came about in an attempt to sustain high performance levels in the workplace linking merit increases, or increases in base pay, to employee performance ratings, which are taken at the end of a performance year, usually by a direct supervisor. Due to the ever increasing changes of supply and demand in business, in order to remain feasible, the merit pay system is expected to change consistently with the needs presented to the companies, whether it be foreign competition, consumer demands, producer limitations, etc. Pay for performance plans are formal compensation systems that are directly related to organizational or individual performance. The United States Department of Labor defined pay for performance as a raise in pay based on a set of criteria put in place by employers, and notes that the Fair Labor Standards Act,

Of course, there is nothing unusual about this; most teenagers ask themselves the same question from time to time. But Matt s problem was special. When he saw his schoolmates, he didn t see anyone who looked like him. There were white kids and black kids, Asian kids and Hispanic kids, but none like him. And when Matt went home and switched on the TV or opened a magazine, he still didn t see anyone who was quite like him. Matt Kelley was a multiracial teen: his dad was white and his mum was a Korean. Abstract: The resplendent quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno) is a bird in the trogon family. It is found from Chiapas, Mexico to western Panama. It is well known for its colorful plumage. This species is 36 to 40 cm (14 16 in) long, plus up to 65 cm (26 in) of tail streamer for the male, and weighs about 210 g. Resplendent quetzals have a green body (showing iridescence from green gold to blue violet) and red breast. Their green upper tail coverts hide their tails and in breeding males are particularly splendid, being longer than the rest of the body. The primary wing coverts are also unusually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This trait not only influences the mating success of male resplendent quetzal, but also influencing the number of offspring in the living environment. If the results of this experiment reject my null hypothesis, which means that my hypothesis of the longer tail length of male resplendent quetzal, the higher rate for successful mating will be successfully established. Thus the characteristic of the long tail will increase resplendent quetzal s adaptability and leads to fitness. If the results of my experiment do not reject my null hypothesis, then the tail length is not an adaptation to increase fitness. There might be some possible errors during the experiment that leads to the wrong answer such as the monogamy breeding behavior of resplendent quetzal. However, there might be other interesting adaptations that are not been tested and we can still use this trait to investigate another function, for example, instead of tail length that may affect the mating success, the brightness of the color of the tail may be the trait that can increase the fitness of breeding. By investigating how different brightness of the tail may influence the mating success, I would like to have three male and female resplendent quetzals with similar behaviors and characteristics as my test samples. Because most color that appear among quetzal species are green, thus, I would like to paint each quetzal s tail with

It provides the general qualifications of one to be registered as a sex offender. It requires registered sex offenders to give updated information on their addresses, place of work or school and to make physical appearances at legible offices to verify the updates. SORNA determines the information that a registered sex offender should submit and makes it available to the public (SMART). The constitution of Massachusetts is a subordinate to the constitution of United States, as would any other state s constitution be. It is therefore mandated to register sex offenders within its borders. The presence of decentralized statutes in the different states however results to different regulations on registration of sex offenders among many other laws. The constitution of Massachusetts abundantly outlines what is considered as sexual crimes and offenses. Not all of them, however, require their perpetuators to register as sexual offenders. Some examples of the major crimes that would mandate registration are such as rape, assault with the aim of committing rape, kidnapping a child and introducing a minor to prostitution. The rest of the crimes mandated for registration are further listed an outlined on http://www.mass.gov/eopss /crime prev personal sfty/sex offenders/information for sex offenders.html Topic 2 Registration of sex offenders
