Essay On Obesity In America
Writing an essay on the topic of obesity in America can be a challenging task due to the
multifaceted nature of the issue. The complexity lies in the need to address various aspects, such
as the social, economic, and cultural factors contributing to the prevalence of obesity. It requires
thorough research to gather accurate and up-to-date information on the rates of obesity, its
causes, and the associated health implications.
Moreover, crafting a compelling essay on this topic involves navigating through sensitive
subjects, such as body image, public health policies, and lifestyle choices. Striking a balance
between presenting the alarming statistics and offering potential solutions without stigmatizing
individuals can be particularly tricky. The essay should provide a nuanced perspective that
considers both individual responsibility and systemic factors contributing to the obesity
epidemic.
In addition, maintaining coherence and flow in the essay is crucial. Juggling statistical data,
expert opinions, and personal anecdotes requires a skillful hand to ensure that the reader remains
engaged and informed. Properly citing sources and avoiding misinformation adds another layer
of complexity to the writing process.
Furthermore, the writer must be mindful of the evolving nature of the obesity crisis. New
research findings, policy changes, and societal attitudes may emerge, requiring constant updates
and revisions to keep the essay current and relevant.
Despite these challenges, writing an essay on obesity in America can be a rewarding endeavor. It
provides an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding a critical public
health issue and propose meaningful solutions. With diligence, a well-researched and
thoughtfully written essay can shed light on the complexities of the problem and inspire positive
change.

Act Reflection
One struggle I had with the ACT was managing my time. I wanted to get all I could
out of every problem to answer it as best I could. That was hard to do with a fixed
amount of time. The mathematics portion of the ACT was also a challenge for me.
There were a lot of formulas that I had to memorize and know when and how to use
them. Before I took the ACT I did take an ACT prep class that was run by my high
school, which gave me tips and tricks on how to do better with each section. The extra
preparation did help a little but I still struggled with time management and math.
Academically my strengths are science, history, psychology, and sociology. I always
find the study of human behavior interesting, rather it be individual or society as a
The Client Of A Mental Health Facility
The Client s Right To Die
A client that has expressed he has been suffering from severe bipolar disorder and
his quality of life is so compromised by his illness that he logically and rationally
chooses suicide, should be involuntary admitted to a mental health facility. As a
counselor for the client it is ethically necessary to try to minimize harm where it is
foreseeable and unavoidable (3.04, American Psychological Association, 2002).
Subsequently, petitioning to have the client admitted to a mental health facility
will serve as a means of trying to minimize harm to the client. According to Illinois
law the client is a candidate for involuntary admission to a mental health facility
because due to his illness he is reasonably expected to engage in dangerous conduct
which places him in harm (405 ILCS 5/1 119). According to Illinois law, as a
counselor of at least 18 years of age for the client and who has direct knowledge of
the client s desire to harm himself, I would present a petition for admittance to a
mental facility to the facility director (405 ILCS 5/3 601). The petition would
include the descriptions of client s symptoms of bi polar disorder such as his reports
of terrifying and tormenting episodes of depressive psychosis as well as his feelings
of helplessness and hopelessness. Most important, the petition would also include his
announcement that he has decided to commit suicide, rather than fight his recurrent
mental illness. In addition to the reasons
Containment as U.S. Policy During Cold War Era
Containment as U.S. policy during Cold War Era
From after World War II and up until 1991 the foreign policy of the United States
was based on Cold War ideology and the policy of containment; to prevent nations
from leaning towards Soviet Union based communism, as first laid out by George
Kennan and later used as one of the key principles in the Truman Doctrine (LeCain).
As this essay will argue, because of this policy the United States made a commitment
to fight communism everywhere in the world and got them involved in conflicts
more because of self interest, self protection and determination to beat communism
than the cause itself. The fear of communism first emerged after the Soviet
Revolution in 1917 during the First Red Scare in ... Show more content on

Even though President Truman had developed the policy of containment and gone
to war in Korea to fight against communism, Senator McCarthy continued to attack
the President calling him a son of a bitch (LeCain) and referred to Truman s and
Roosevelt s Democratic administrations as twenty years of treason (Maier 815).
Americans grew impatient due to the Korean conflict and McCarthy fueled the
already angry and frustrated American voters and in 1952 Dwight D. Eisenhower
was elected president. President Eisenhower hinted that if the North Koreans did
not come to the peace table, the United States might use atomic weapons (LeCain).
Offering the same terms as President Truman did, Eisenhower was able to make the
Chinese and North Koreans sign a peace treaty on July 27th 1953 (Maier 815). With
Eisenhower as president Senator McCarthy s days were numbered (Fried 132), the
massive defense budget would be reduced, but it did not have an effect on American
Cold War policy (Brands 43). Eisenhower was a moderate Republican (LeCain) and
he did not attempt to cut the New Deal programs, but wanted to reduce the budget.
Six weeks after Eisenhower enters office, Stalin dies. This offered a possibility in
reductions in defense expenditures, thus reducing the budget (Brands 41). The change
of leadership in both Washington and Moscow made Winston Churchill advocate a

Why Plastic Bags Should Be Banned
Banning Plastic Bags
The plastic bag is an innovative invention all around the world. It makes the world
more convenient and because of this convenience, the plastic bag is multi
purposeful and is used widespread such as in stores, houses, restaurants, etc.
However, the problem is that a lot of people do not know that plastic bags have
many harmful effects. First of all, plastic bags cause environmental damages, and
produces cataclysmic events in wildlife. For example, plastic bags become litter
after they are found in waterways, parks, beaches, and streets. Plastic bags also effect
air when burned, infusing the air with toxins. Something that many may not think
about when they think of plastic bags is the harmful effects it brings to the animals.
The death of countless animals such as dolphins, turtles, penguins, etc. is due to the
production of plastic bags. The ocean is home to thousands of species and ocean
wonders but there is so often trash thrown into the sea that disrupts the life beneath
the water. Those animals ingest plastic bags and ultimately die, while another
animal comes back and eats that dead animal which results in a chain reaction that
is going to come back around and bite humans back. The public should realize that
plastic bags have adverse effects, and those effects will be worse than the
convenience of using a plastic bag.
Plastic bags produce environmental pollution. People need to reduce the use of plastic
bags in order to save the environment. This
On The Importance Of Having Superheroes
According to Jen Doll, writer of the article On the Importance of Having Superheroes,
Marvel s The Avenger released on May 4, 2012, managed to take in approximately
$640 million worldwide within the 12 days it was in theaters. This shows how
popular movies based on superheroes have become. It became so popular that from
1978 2017 there has been a drastic increase in the domestic box office of superhero
movies. Superheroes movies and television series have become so famous
throughout that passing point of years. However, this isn t astonishing because these
movies are relatable, send a message/ a lesson to the audience watching, and very
flexible.
One of the reasons these superhero movies become so popular is because they are

Tragic Flaw in Death of a Salesman
Death of a Salesman explores a wide range of topics and ideas, from the American
dream to suicide and even carbon monoxide poisoning. But one of the most
prevalent ideas explored in the novel is the idea of a Tragic Hero. Willy Loman was
known for many things, like being a salesman and committing suicide, to name a few,
but most of the people who read Death of a Salesman will know him for being a
Tragic Hero. Aspects of a Tragic Hero include Hamartia, Hubris, Anagnorisis, and
Catharsis, all of which will be explored throughout this essay. Hamartia is the Tragic
flaw that eventually leads to the downfall of a hero. Willy exhibits multiple
examples of Tragic Flaws, any of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Natural order is how things are supposed to turn out, and Willy completely ignores
this. He cannot accept failure, and will not listen when bad news is presented. He
tends to project himself on his sons, trying to force them into his hopes for them,
not what their hopes are for themselves. He sees Biff as a strong salesman, while
Biff wants to have his own ranch out west. Willy defies reality, and attempts to
twist his life into his ultimate fantasy, as a successful businessman with successful
sons living in a paid off house with his loving wife, but unfortunately his reality is
much bleaker. Willy sees himself as the ultimate salesman and one of the most
valuable aspects of his company, and when he goes to talk to Howard to try and
get a job closer to home but is fired, he cannot accept that fact and lies to Linda and
his sons to try and cover his tracks and change his mindset. Willy s sense of pride is
also a trait of hubris. He is very proud of his family and his few successes, and tries
to sugarcoat things to other people when the reality is far from good. Even his
family seems to have caught on to this trait. For example, when Happy and Biff are
waiting for Willy in the restaurant, Happy sees a girl he finds attractive. He calls
her over and lies to her about being a champagne salesman. When she compliments
his career, he says Oh, it gets to be like everything else. Selling is selling, y know?

of a Wired Article The Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer Hair dryers are the the least
glamorous part of looking glamorous. They re cumbersome, their cords tangle
easily, and they devour precious drawer space (Shin p.1). Upon skimming through
wired.com s plethora of articles surrounding high tech products, I couldn t help but
go back to this fancy hair dryer. Who knew Dyson made anything more than
vacuums? I sure had no idea. The Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer is state of the art,
modern, efficient and much more comfortable to use compared to any other hair
dryer in this day and age. Shin provides the reader with plausible argument as to why
this hair dryer is top notch.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He starts by claiming that this new Supersonic hair dryer has a tiny but powerful,
motor the same technology Dyson employs in its blade less fans that produce a
strong, even flow of hot air (Shin p. 3). This statement aids in the argument that
this hair dryer is to be admired. He goes on to tell us about the weight of the object
and that the motor is located inside of the handle. He compares this aspect of the
dryer to that of other dryers, stating that classic hair dryers have that L shape and a
large motor, creating an off centered and uncomfortable handle. In addition, Shin
makes note of the three styling attachments that snap onto the dryer. All of these
features of the Supersonic hair dryer help to invoke an aesthetic appeal that creates
beauty and attractiveness to the overall product. By going into detail and describing
the functions of the different parts of the hair dryer, Shin attracts the reader to its
exquisite design and purpose. There is evidently more convince in the design of this
dryer as well, with it including a more comfortable grip. Slack and Wise solidify the
importance of convenience with technology by stating that, Technologies make life
better because they make life more convenient; that is, they save time, conquer space,
and create comfort (Slack and Wise p.

Midterm Paper

Topic 1 In Plato s The Meno, Socrates, who was a Greek philosopher and
considered one of the wisest of all people expresses his views on the relationship
between knowledge and virtue. In todays era, virtue is defined as having good
morals as a human being. Knowledge is defined as factual information and skills
that are acquired by a person through experience or education. Together Socrates
makes a statement and or beliefs, that virtue is knowledge because if you know what
is right, you will in fact do what is right. While in a conversation with Socrates, Meno
then asks if virtue can ever be taught. Socrates answers his question in that they both
have to discuss at that point if virtue can be taught because he is uncertain. They must
first define clearly what virtue is to even answer Meno s question of if virtue can even
be taught or not. At the end of the debate, the final conclusion Socrates makes is that
virtue is not something natural or can never be taught. Socrates then believes that it
is just simply a gift from god that we all receive it without ever realizing. Through
the process, Meno and Socrates go at it, Meno thinking he is getting close to the
correct answer just to have Socrates shot it down. After a few times of Meno
guessing, he doesn t have anything else to say and gives up. Socrates main argument
responds with that learning is not discovering anything new but rather remembering
something the soul knew before your
Importance Of Values In Social Work
Improving the lives of individuals is the objective of the social work profession.
There is six values within National Association of Social work Code of Ethics
(NASW): Service, Social Justice, Dignity, and Self worth of the person,
Importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. These values are
for social workers and their work with the client(s). Regardless of one s race,
religious belief, sex or sexual orientation each value benefits all individuals. Social
workers should always practice professional values. Clients suffer from when the
social worker does not uphold values. Code of Ethics is established for all social
workers to obey and follow them. In this this paper, I will discuss the how
Importance of Human Relationship will be the easiest to uphold and how Social
Justicewill challenge me as a social worker working with future clients, community
and organizations.
Value: Importance of Human Relationships Importance of Human Relationship is
highly important in the social work profession.
Human relationships are valuable, not only in the social work profession but all
professions.
Looking back at my own experiences with working with the community and
organizations, I have seen how important it is to have human relationships. Working
as an Activity Assistant in a nursing home and a Navy Ombudsman provided many
opportunities to see how relationships can be successful with working with others and
creating bonds not only with individual, community
Western Film Research Paper
Western Essay
Alannah Jones
When you think about film genre, you may ask yourself questions such as, how has
it evolved over time? Why has it evolved over time? How has it shaped popular
culture? Film, regardless of the genre, consists of elements, in which makes it a film.
In a western genre, you may look for elements such as costumes, effects/editing, and
narrative. What about these elements makes them important in a Western film?
In the film industry, costumes are an important element. Not only do the costumes
support the genre, but they also conduct character s representation. In the film The
Magnificent 7 , Yul Brynner, the man who creates the magnificent seven, is dressed
in all black. Whereas, every other character is either in white ... Show more content on

In the first film, which I mentioned above, special effects and editing had not been
strongly developed quite yet. You notice this during some points in the film.
Including, whenever a character was shot, there was no immediate effect. Typically
the character would grasp their chest, around the heart area, and fall forward onto
the ground, revealing the blood and injury from the bullet on their back. Whereas in
the second film, after Butch and Sundance were shot, there was immediate effect.
They both sat down in hiding, felt their injury and when they lifted their hands,
they were covered in blood. In the third film, when a man was shot, he was taken
back to a small town, and a veterinarian attempted at taking the bullet out of his
chest, you could clearly see the injury and the damage it had caused this man.
Editing and effects have evolved drastically. These days in films, once someone hits
the ground, whether it be from a gunshot, or some other type of hit, you instantly see
blood. Either pooling beside their heads or by their sides, or their hands dripping
with it. Editing and effects have become so realistic, that it has shaped popular culture
to the point of where, the effects can t be any less than what they are. If editing and
effects, were to be less, they would be criticised and not

In thin layer chromatography a liquid is pumped across a bed of particles. The
liquid that is pumped across is called the mobile phase and the particles are the
stationary phase. A mixture of the molecules that will be separated is put into the
mobile phase. Thin layer chromatography tells you/helps you determine the number
of compounds in a mixture, the purity of a compound, and the identity of
compounds if you have examples to pull information from. Thin layer

You can use thin layer chromatography for quantitative analysis to some extent. If
you use solutions of known concentrations and compare the unknown to the
standards, then you can gain some quantitative information. You can also calculate Rf
values taking the distance traveled divided by the total distance of the eluent. After
we chopped up our spinach leaf we used hexane and ethanol to separate out
compounds in our leaf. After adding water, we removed the top layer and spotted a
TLC plate to separate out our compounds. We also used a mixture of hexane/ethyl
acetate (1:1) and hexane/ethyl acetate (20:1) to use as our developing solution. The
(1:1) solution gave use six compounds separated out on a TLC plate with
xanthophyll being the most polar and carotene being the least polar. On the other
hand, the (20:1) solution gave us one compound that moved through our TLC plate.
Looking at the plate it seems like it is the carotene that moved while everything else
remained near the polar side of the plate. The most polar molecule was Rhodamine
B (bright pink red) then Fast Green (blue) then we had a clear compound show up,
then Bismark Brown (yellow orange) and the least polar compound was Sudan IV

The ancient Roman army was one of extreme power and excellence. To be a Roman
soldier meant to be professional as well as hard working. The Roman army during its
time was the greatest empire in the west until modern times. It was built upon the
hostility of the great Roman soldier. Compared to the warriors they fought, the
Romans appeared to be much more professional and controlled. The men of the
Roman legion, which is a great number of soldiers, soon became the monarchs in
heavy infantry at time when heavy infantry ruled the battlefield. The ability to

A centurion carried a short rod, to show his importance. He could use that stick to
beat any soldier who violated an order he made. Men were placed around the
empire to hold off and fight rebellions, or to guard the frontier. When soldiers were
not fighting they were training in stone or timber forts and preparing for war. If a
soldier was already a Roman citizen, he could join the army as a legionary. Non
Romans joined as auxiliaries. An auxiliary was paid a third as much as a legionary.
Auxiliaries guarded forts and frontiers, but also fought in battles, often in the front
lines, where it was the most dangerous. In battle, men would march behind the
legion s standard, a silver aquila (eagle). The Roman army consisted of about 30
legions. Each legion had between 4,000 and 6,000 soldiers, called legionaries. The
commanding officer of the whole legion was called the legate. Legionaries were
the best Roman soldiers, and best paid. A large amount of the soldiers had special
skills whether it be with a bow, flung stones from slingshots, or swimming rivers to
surprise an enemy. The artillery consisted of giant catapults, called onagers,
machines that fired rocks or balls of burning tar. Also the romans used big
crossbows, called ballistas, too. Most of the time romans fought on foot. Calvary was
a big help to the Romans to rout the enemy. In a battle situation, the cavalry would
line up on either side of the infantry to help them out. Roman
Analysis Of American Pie
Modernism was a 20th century literary movement that depicted a period of
uncertainty and disillusion in the United States. The literary movement was marked
by various culture shock caused by events such as both World Wars and the Vietnam
War. Because of such shock, American culture and societal values changed as society
began to focus more on the self and forgo the traditional Victorian values and virtues
of the preceding Romantic era. During this movement, writer sought to write in a way
that better suited the modern world and thus chose to focus on the decay of values
and growing alienation of the individual. Writers and poets began using techniques
such as streams of consciousness and writing with a sense of ambiguity. There was
also the poetic movement, imagism during the Modernismera where poets became
increasingly concerned with presenting a simple, clear image to their readers. Due to
his use of modernist techniques and poetic devices such as the adoption of the
stream of consciousness writing style, the use imagery, allusions, and symbolism,
Don McLean s song, American Pie, can be considered a work of modernist poetry. By
way of his literary techniques and poetic devices, McLean is able to take his
listeners through a pivotal decade in American history in just eight and a half
minutes; however, it is what makes his lyrics a song that helps build American Pie s
tone and further develop the theme of a generation s early loss of innocence, culture,
and values that

estimates that there are over one thousand sites in the United States contaminated
with radionuclides. Many of these contaminated sites have been thoroughly cleaned
in a process to decontaminate the site to meet certain standards. These locations vary
in size ranging from a small laboratory to a decommissioned nuclear powerplant and
even a large scale nuclear weapons facility. The Department of Energy (DOE) along
with many other government agencies understands the risk involved with exposure
to large doses of radiation and has established cleanup programs throughout the
Unites States. These cleanup programs are responsible for decontaminating the site
to ensure the public is safe from radiation exposure. The following describes
radioactive cleanup programs in the United States, and the huge role they play in
keeping the nuclear industry as safe as possible. One of the oldest radionuclide
cleanup programs is the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program
(FUSRAP). The FUSRAP is a predecessor of both the Atomic Energy Commission
(AEC) and the Manhattan Engineering District. The Atomic Energy Commission and
the Manhattan Engineering District conducted cleanup programs in the 1940s and
1950s targeting the production of uraniumand thorium, along with their storage.

Key Elements Of Classical And Operant Conditioning
Behaviourist Theories
This essay examines behaviourist theories and discusses key elements of classical
and operant conditioning. It considers a variety of psychological theorists and
profoundly explores their research.
Behaviourism is a psychological approach that explains human development as
learning from experience rather than a result of inborn tendencies or higher order
thinking. (Moonie, 2006) The behaviourist movement began in 1913 when Watson
wrote the article Psychology as the behaviourist views it. Additionally, Pavlov,
Thorndike and Skinner worked to develop behavioural theories of learning. They
suggest that all behaviour is learned either through classical or operant conditioning.
(Cardwell and Flanagan, 2012, p.50)
Thorndike s research offered valuable insights into conditioning. He studied the way
animals learn through trial and error by observing their responses in controlled
conditions. For example, a hungry cat would experiment with methods of escaping
from a cage to receive a reward of food. When the cat discovered actions that helped
it escape, it would remember them. Thorndike believed any action that produced a
good effect would be imprinted in an animal s mind. In 1898, Thorndike wrote the
article, the Law of Effect which elucidated how consequences govern actions. He
presented the idea that animals and humans learn to repeat actions that provide
positive effects and avoid actions which have negative outcomes. Consequently, his
theory provided
Inner Conflict In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare around 1600, is a tragedy dramatizing the
revenge of Prince Hamlet. The play explores the inner conflict experienced by
Hamlet as he is faced with the task of avenging his Father s death. In the first scene
Hamlet is approached by a ghost, claiming to be his father. This sets into motion a
plan of revenge that will end in a bloodbath, as most of the major characters die.
Throughout Hamletthe protagonist struggles with inner conflict, stemming from his
inability to form his thoughts into action. Although it is assumed that Denmark finds
order in the end with the rise of Prince Fortinbras, the play is not resolved because
Hamlet is never able to understand the implications of death and he is not able to...

It was necessary for the court to fall apart completely eventually, so that the
government could be restored. Although the royal court falls apart in the end, it is
taken over and supposedly restored by Prince Fortinbras. This helps resolve the
play by giving the audience a sense of Denmark s future. However, the play is not
resolved because the concept of an afterlife is never defined in the context of the
play. The audience only has Hamlet s perception of death. Hamlet also lacks growth
as a character. Although he eventually gets justice for his father and kills Claudius,
he only acted because his hand was forced. According to Claudius plan, Hamlet was
supposed to die in the final act, meaning he wouldn t have gotten the chance to
avenge his father. Hamlet is never able to turn his thoughts into action, therefore
being a coward by his own definition as well as never developing as a character. The
only resolution comes from Prince Fortinbras taking over. The play lacks resolution
because the audience does not know if the end goal was met, That being, whether
Hamlet s revenge saved the King Hamlet. It is important that the play lacks resolution
because the audience is left out of important details that would change the meaning of
the play. The audience does not know if the ghostis real or just a figment of Hamlet s
imagination, they are also not told what happens to any
Essay On The Failure Of Duddy Kravitz
Duddy Kravitz, The Failure of Role Models In today s society role models
represent a significant problem. Role models are a very important part of society
since they are the people to leave impressions on the younger generation on how to
act. The problem today is that many children, young teens, and young adults are
choosing the wrong role models, which makes them grow up with bad habits, or just
live their lives that in general affect them negatively. This is shown perfectly when
examining the novel The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, from a reader response
perspective, roles models play a big part, with all of the role models that Duddy has
ultimately failing him. This is shown through his role models being selfish instead of

Looking up to someone who has a good work ethic betters the onlookers as it
demonstrates their commitment to a desired goal, and their willingness to put the
required time and effort in to achieve that goal (Silver). If the role models that the
next generation looks up to have good work ethics then the next generation will more
easily realize what they need to succeed. As if the person has a good work ethic it
teaches the ones looking up to them that if they are going to succeed in life they
are going to need to work hard and keep committed to their goals. Duddy does have
a role model that teaches him how to work hard, that person being his father. As he
was growing up Duddy saw his father working extremely long hours driving a taxi
in order to provide for their family at one moment saying, [...]it is nothing for me to
be called to an emergency in the middle of the night, so, as you can well
understand, I can t afford to have my sleep disturbed for nothing. (Richler, 37).
Duddy grew up seeing his father working all day and get called out in the middle of
the night in order to make some more money to better support his family. This taught
Duddy perseverance and taught him to put everything he has into his work, but in
this case it worked against him as well. When Duddy grew older he used what he
had learned from watching his father in his own life. At one point he was struggling
to make money and

Analysis Of The Book I Am Number Four Essay
I Am Number Four Literary Analysis I am told the ground shook, that the skies

(6). I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore is a book about a group called the Loric
and their clashes with the Mogadorians, the main character, John is a Garde which
is a race of Loric that has special powers called legacies. Also the Garde are much
more advanced than the humans because of their extreme strength and Intellect.
Also, Henri John s Cepan, which is a guard of the Garde and are used to protect the
Garde and to ensure that the Garde s legacies develop. When they move to Ohioa
strange series of events happened. In I am Number Four there are many unique
characteristics that make it such a good book such as its Futuristic setting, its
cautious mood and it s hopeful theme. In the first place, the Setting of Future Ohio
had affected the characters by affecting their communication and their love lives.
Henri says Don t worry, he says. They can t track emails. At least not the way I

shows futuristic technology and thinking this causes Henri to be able to contact the
outside world. Also Henri would not have sent the email otherwise which would
not have lead to Henri s kidnapping and John having to tell Sam the truth.

Relationships Refers To Bonds Between Two Or More
People,
Relationships refers to bonds between two or more people, this can be romantic,
friendly, family or work related. People seek relationships because they must fulfill
their needs. One of our basic needs is to feel secure. We feel secure and safe when
we are with someone, for example, at night I don t like to be alone because I feel
unsafe but when I m with someone this feeling disappears it just gives you a
sensation of safeness. Also, people may decide to form relationships because of a
common interest, they might be studying the same subject or pursuing the same
goals in life so united their probability of making it are greater. Another factor can
be love, the need of physical touch or the need of affection can be factors of forming

this has ruined this rising developing country. Hugo Chavez governed the country
since 1990 s until his death since then he has done everything that he thinks it s

currently governed by his successor Nicolas Maduro and the situation has gone
worst, the country can t even afford hospitals with the essential medical supplies.
Maduro follows the same strategies as Chavez not listening to anybody and just
doing what he thinks is right for the country. Venezuela could have been a strong
country if it hadn t been for Chavez lack of listening skills. Listening means not just
understanding the message, but also understanding the emotions of the speaker. In
ordinary listening we hear the words and thinking Where do I agree? Where do I
disagree? and What am I going to say in response? In simple terms the spotlight is
on us and not in the speaker, however, in real listening the spotlight is on the
speaker, we put our self in their shoes, we just don t listen to the words in
Descriptive Essay For Macarons
M is for Macarons I was fortunate enough to have been able to travel the world
from childhood to now, my early twenties. I have visited countries such as
Argentina to the cold forests of Romania, tasting traditional meals and treats in
every new place I went. I am not a sweet eater, but when visiting France on a family
trip, the tour guide took my family to a local bakery, and there is when I fell in
love with French Macarons. The crisp outer shell with a hearty layer of flavored
filliing in between, feels like your eating a perfect, edible cloud. Even though
individuals can have different levels of cooking skills, learning to bake easy
recipes and being able to follow simple steps with few ingredients can make
anyone feel like a skilled baker making one of the world s most popular French
treats, French macarons. Special equipment is recommended to have ready prior
to starting the baking process, so your macarons come out perfect with little to no
mess. Every baker needs a baking sheet, but a silicone baking mat is essential
because when removing the macaron shell after hardening, it will easily lift up
compared to parchment paper. A fine mesh sieve and a pastry piping bag with a 1
/4 inch round tip will be needed, too. Be sure to preheat your oven to 300 degrees
Fahrenheit so it can be hot a ready once you are done preparing your macaron outer
shells. Most baking recipes call for regular flour to be included in making your sweet
treat batch. For making French
The House On Mango Street Book Report
You would be so surprised to know that only one year has gone by in The House on
Mango street by Sandra Cisneros. The book starts with Esperanza just turning 13,
and then ending with her about to turn 14. As we know, a lot can happen in only
one years time, and it certainly did for Esperanza. She had grown and matured so
much just from the people and the things she surrounded herself with on Mango
Street. Although she hated Mango Street and wanted to live anywhere but there,
Mango street will always be apart of her. This goes along with the theme greatly
because Mango street made Esperanza who she is and she can never forget that.
Overall the theme in the book is never forgetting who you are and where you came
from. I think this because in
Deadpool Film
I m not a huge fan of the Transporter series, the films are a bit dumber than they are
entertaining, especially the third one. That said, those films were made by what
Jason Statham brought to the table. Were it not for Statham s incredible action talents
and bravado those films would have been virtually unwatchable much like the third
film. Needless to say I was extremely worried when I heard that this film lacked that
crucial ingredient, as it turns out those concerns were well founded, as this is one of
the worst, if not the worst film of the year.
Obviously, there are other films that went straight to DVD that can prove formidable
in the battle for worst of the year, but as far as theatrical releases go, this is pretty
high on the list. I absolutely loathed every second of this atrocity. As it turns out these
films are more than unwatchable without Statham, they re unfathomable. I simply
cannot wrap my head around this situation, I m in awe of how poorly executed this is.
There isn t a single redeeming factor here, every line, actor, and stunt is painstakingly
bad. I d assumed given his inclusion in the upcoming Deadpool film that Ed Skrein

The Intern Analysis
Nancy Meyers is a director, writer, and producer, with lots of famous movies such
as Something s Gotta Give (2003), The Holiday (2006), It s Complicated (2009) to
her credit. Her movies are usually romance comedy like. Of course with her movie
The Intern, one would not help but feel it would follow same romance comedy
style just like its predecessors. Ah ha! You are absolutely wrong as it doesn t only
portray its usual features, but it has been created to correct certain societal
misconceptions on baby boomers and successful women. It talks about a powerful
and successful woman who finds it quite difficult handling her professional life and
family at the same time, it also tries to correct certain societal misconceptions on
baby boomers. One of its main characters Ben Whittaker (who is played by Robert
DeNiro) a 70 year old baby boomer, plays an exceptional rule in this movie to
demonstrate the need to remain humble and kind to society despite its discrimination.
As the movie progresses, Ben uses his previous work experiences, ideas and past life
experiences to guide Jules.
Like a demographics whitepaper come to life, The Intern throws two of
contemporary America s biggest social forces against one another: rapidly retiring
boomers, in the form of 70 year old intern Robert De Niro who plays the role of Ben,
and tech savvy, in the form of his harried, early 30s boss Anne Hathaway (Jules). Ben
is retired, he s widow, he s been trying to fill his days with a myriad of
Human Relation vs Human Resources
Discuss the difference between human relations theory and human resources

the behaviour of contemporary managers?
There are so many fallacies for instance the term of human relations and human
resources where the contemporary organisation unseen the differences between this

In Herzberg s Motivation Hygiene theory led to development of extensive lists of
these motivator and hygiene factor (Miller 2006). According to Miller (2006), the
category of motivator factors is responsibility, achievement, recognition, challenging
work and advancement in the organisation. The category of hygiene factors are
physical working conditions, salary, benefits, company policy and the technical
quality of supervision (Miller 2006). Herzberg believes that the absence of these
factors will lead to unhappiness and dissatisfaction. Effective job performance is
highly dependent on the adequacy and balance of both motivator and hygiene
factors. A US retailer, Costco is known to be incredibly loyal, which can be keep
profitability for the organisation (Leberecht 2010). Keeping the employees satisfied
will make employees perform well and it results in higher profitability for the
organisation in the long run (Leberecht 2010).
The fact that human relation approaches can really enhance the performance control
for an organisation is undisputable however it will bring some negative impacts to
an organisation at the same time. Human relations theories revolve broadly around
fulfilling employees needs as an individual in correlation to their job performance.
Therefore, individualism could also indirectly cause the breakdown of cooperation
as well as social cycle. For instance, Maslow s and Herzberg s theory which

and will cover Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 as these are both relevant to those
covered within lectures. We will begin with Key Stage 2 and The Hobbit by J.R.R

The same process will be followed with The Silmarillionby the same author for Key

examining the piece with this level in mind. It is essentially a simple story of a
Hobbit who reluctantly undertakes a great adventure with a band of dwarves and
a wizard to assist in the regaining of treasure lost to a dragon in times gone by.
However, the trials faced during this journey and it s descriptive manner mean that
the book is far from simple at times and it would be fair to assume that this would
place it at the higher end of Key Stage 2 readership, perhaps aged 10 to 11 as it is

Explain The Four Kingdoms In The Book Of Daniel
Discussion Board 1 In the Book of Daniel the 7th chapter it is record that Daniel
mentioned four great kingdoms. The four great kingdoms that Daniel mentioned
are Babylon, Medo Persia, Greece, and Rome. Daniel stated in detail that these
four kingdoms would come out the earth. The Babylonian, Persian, Greek, and
Roman empires were all different in size, power, and in many other ways. It is
noted that Daniel use animal symbols to describe these four kingdoms. First, the
Babylonia kingdom is represented by a lion that had wings like an eagle in which
stood like a man on its two feet. It is imperative to state, The lion s wings being
torn off speaks of the king s insanity and loss of power; standing on two feet like a
man and receiving a human heart (mind) denotes Nebuchadnezzar s humanitarian
rule after his insanity; and the lion being lifted up from the ground indicates that it
was God who raised the king to his place of honor. Secondly, the Medo Persia
kingdom is represented by a bear that had three ribs in its mouth, and it was
commanded to devour all flesh. This command that was given means that this
empire will conqueror other empires. Thirdly, the Greek Empire was represented by
a leopard with four wings and four heads. The Greek... Show more content on

Eve Adam And Eve
Eve Adam
Adam and Eve is a well know story in the book of Genesis. There are many
versions of this religious story, and many interpretation that go along with it.
Focusing on the Hebrew versions of Genesis 1 and 2, comparing the two similar
creation stories of Eve Adam, and look into how the Early Christianity New
Testament affected the way woman were seen as well as treated. In the book Eve
Adam by Kvam Schearing and Ziegler, it focuses on Genesis 1; the stories of
Creation.
On the sixth day Elohim (God) creates humankind in his image. The first man and
woman are created simultaneously and jointly receive Elohim s command to be
fruitful, to multiply, and to subdue and have dominion over the earth. Their creation,
Elohim remarks, is very good. On the seventh day, Elohim rests. (Eve 16)
When interpreting this paragraph a few things come to mind. One, Elohim is
considered perfect because he is God. So humankind being created in his perfect
image creates the idea that humans are perfect like Elohim. As one looks further into
the passage it specifically says that man and woman were created together. Meaning
that man and woman were equally created. Then after man and women were created
simultaneously, Elohim wanted the man and women to multiply and be fruitful.
Meaning that the man and woman had an equal gender roles with creating life through
out the Earth that Elohim had created for them. As one continues on reading The
Book of Genesis, another creation
The Unknown Citizen Explication Essay

The Unknown Citizen
By W. H. Auden
Several conflicts are dramatized in The Unknown Citizen, the most prominent being:
conformity of the middle class, government manipulation, and the loss of
individualism to the standards of an average citizen. The speaker of this poem is non
traditional as the poem is, in fact, an inscription on a marble monument erected by the
State. The inscription is dedicated to a JS/07 M 378 presumably, The Unknown
Citizen, although this term only appears in the title. The Unknown Citizen is
essentially an elegy, a lament for the dead, written by either a government official or a
strong believer in the government. This becomes clear ... Show more content on

Among his praises, for example: When there was peace, he was for peace: when
there was war, he went (24). In this, it becomes clear to the reader that you do not
want to be an average citizen; you do not want this to be your elegy. Some critics
argue this, however, as Auden stating that there is nothing disgraceful in being
unknown. The poem is, above all, a satire of the way conformity hinders the
individual and leaves ridiculous and solely external distinctions between human
beings. Auden presents an allegory in The Unknown Citizen that begins even
before the poem itself. The phrase Unknown Citizen appears only once in the title.
This term is an immediate allusion to and parody of the Unknown Soldier,
especially considering the details of who the poem is dedicated to and the fact that
it is found on a marble monument, much like those one might expect to see in
Washington, D.C. where the United States is home to the Tomb of the Unknown
Soldier. The Unknown Solider is a soldier who cannot be recognized after being
found in battle. This sometimes controversial idea can be interpreted to mean that
many people die as unknowns because they lived uninfluential lives. Aside from
this large allegory, the poem uses only a few rhetorical devices. In line four, for
example, ...in the modern sense of an old fashioned word, he was a saint is quite an
exaggeration because being one against whom there was no official complaint is
hardly saintly (2). Another
Who Is Mccarthyism In The Crucible
During his writing of the crucible, Arthur Miller reflected his own personal
experiences into the ideologies occurring throughout the book. The argument of
McCarthyism being reflected throughout the story is very evident. During the 1940s
and 1950s Americans were overcome with the thought of communism possibly
reaching America, due to its major growth throughout Asia and Eastern Europe.
These concerns began to develop in the US government, with young senator, Joseph
McCarthy, taking particular concern. Exploiting already present fear of communism
among American people, McCarthy public announced that more than two hundred
card carrying communists had infiltrated the United States government. Although
these accusations where later confirmed to be false, McCarthy s pursuit towards
allegation of communism became the center of political tensions. During his anti
communism campaign, McCarthy became known for his paranoid, ridiculous and
obscure accusations upon any well known individuals during the time. This system...

This ideology served an extreme part in McCarthyism. Due to the hysteria and
paranoia out of communism during Miller s time, those running the investigations
would believe any accusations or any pieces of evidence no matter how obscure, in
effort to calm the hysteria that had been so greatly built up. There are many examples
of accusations based on obscure evidence throughout the Crucible. Martha Corey is
accused and hung for witchcraft due to her husbands questioning of her reading of
strange books . Giles Corey accuses Thomas Putnam of witchcraft out of his greed
for land. Specifically, Abigail, who conducts most of the accusations, typically does
not have the slightest bit of evidence, and rather uses the power she had developed to
accuse anyone who is of threat in effort to protect

immobilized P. citrinopileatus exposed to (2 KGy) had more efficiency for
decolorization of direct brown and direct yellow dyes. Decolorization percentage
of immobilized P. citrinopileatus in Direct Brown and Direct yellow reach to 95%

The Epic Of Beowulf By William Beowulf
The book Beowulf is a story of a man named Beowulf, who comes from the land of
the Geats, who is continuously put to the test having to fight in battles, in which in
his last battle he Beowulf finds death. After reading Beowulf I have concluded that
this book is meant to glorify the men who have fought and succeeded in violent
battles. Those men hold a legacy and power in which there name is known
throughout. Those same men have children or sons and their sons continue to hold
that legacy with them and make one of their own, if they do not then they no longer
have power and fame and become unknown. Therefore in order to hold a legacy,
have power, and become known, one must fight in brutal wars and must win in those
wars, and one main person that fulfilled this duty was Beowulf.
As the story begins it introduces a warrior, King Shield Sheafson, scourge of many
tribes, a wrecker of mead benches, rampaging amoung foes (3). Although he did
not have a father he, flourished later on as his powers waxed and his worth was
proved (3), he was known as one good king. It is he who became the founding
father that started a legacy for the land of the Danes. King Shield had a famous son
named Beow, who was then passed the throne after his father s death. Beow was
known through the North and was well regarded and ruled the Danes for a long time
(7). He fathered four children, Heorogar, Hrothgar, Halga, and a daughter. Hrothgar
is the only son that became known. Herorogar, Halga, and his

Definition of Legal system
Legal systems can be split between civil law and common law systems. The term
civil law referring to a legal system should not be confused with civil law as a group
of legal subjects distinct from criminal or public law. A third type of legal system
accepted by some countries without separation of church and state is religious law,
based on scriptures. The specific system that a country is ruled by is often determined
by its history, connections with other countries, or its adherence to international

We all get attacked by those faulty ethereal goblins of our minds and hearts, but most
of us succeed to resist them. It s easy to act on anger, greed, revenge or any of
highlighted above, but it takes courage and strength to determine that there is
something more important than that.
There are two core reasons why weakness prevails with some:
1) Lack of faith, not believing enough in the power of one s own internal weapons
(against inner demons), such as: courage, tolerance, understanding, forgiveness,
mercy, honesty, sincerity, integrity, honor, modesty, humbleness, generosity, love,
compassion, kindness, detachment, patience, self discipline, temperance, etc.
As a result of not trusting inner resources, there is no enough motivation to develop
them and use them.

Balance Sheet And Income Statements
In the world of business, it is crucial to keep track of revenues and expenses in order
to evaluate the economic condition of one s business. Other than revenues and
expenses, accountants must also document the changes within a business s assets and
liabilities. Changes in assets and liabilities affect the owner s equity. The revenue and
expense accounts are recorded in the income statement, while assets, liabilities, and
owner s equity are recorded in the balance sheet. The balance sheet and income
statements make up the general ledger. The purpose of a subsidiary ledger, also
known as a subledger or subaccount, is to show the details of a specific account
under the general ledger. The subsidiary ledger updates companies on the spending
trends of each individual customer. Consequently, the subsidiary ledger can also
inform the company of debts it owes to other companies or organizations. The
ending balance in the subsidiary ledger should be equivalent to the ending balance
in the controlling account, which is a summary of the general ledger. Not all
accounts in the general ledger require a subsidiary ledger. Typically, accounts with a
high amount of transactions call for a subsidiary ledger. This is extremely common
in big companies that provide services in exchange for cash. By having subsidiary
ledgers, large corporations can keep better records of their fiscal information. These
organized records, in turn, give owners a chance to evaluate the productivity of the

met a man named Tracy Edwards who was 31 years old at the time. Jeffrey tried to
force Edwards into the bedroom, and a fight broke out. Dahmer had a butcher
knife but Tracy managed to get free and run out into the street. Oddly enough,
Tracy happened to wave down a cop car and told them about the incident. Edwards
showed the cops where the knife was, and while searching Dahmer s apartment,
police found pictures of dead bodies which lead to the arrest of Jeffrey Dahmer (
Jeffrey Dahmer ).
What officers found in Jeffrey Dahmer s apartment was completely disturbing. All
kinds of body parts were found throughout the home, including, hands, heads, and
different organs. Skulls were placed around the apartment as decoration, as other
skulls were found in the refrigerator (Weston 50).
On January 30th, 1992, Jeffrey Dahmer was found not guilty to 17 murder charges
because of his insanity. Trial took place, and Dahmer was charged with 15 different
murders, and was declared sane. Dahmer wished for his own death after receiving 15
life terms, or 957 years in prison ( Jeffrey
Deforestation In The United States
Forests cover 31% of the earth s land surface (Withgott Laposata, 2014). These
forests provide habitats for 80% of the world s terrestrial biodiversity (World Wildlife
Fund [WWF],
2014). Biodiversity is essential to the stability of our ecosystems. In addition to
providing habitats, forests also provide many other ecosystem services, such as
erosion control, carbon sequestration, water cycle regulation, and even recreational
and aesthetic value.
However, deforestation threatens these valuable ecosystems. Many people think of
tropical forests when they hear of deforestation. Although tropical deforestation is
certainly a serious environmental problem, the forest resources in the United States
have been (and will continue to be) depleted. In ... Show more content on

Pollution of our water resources from point sources, such as industrial discharges, and
nonpoint sources, such as agricultural and urban runoff, also threaten our access to
clean, safe water.
Pollution threatens our marine resources as well. Pollutants are released into the
ocean as a result of disasters such as the Gulf oil spill in 2010 and the Exxon Valdez
spill in 1989, both of which were headline making events. However, most ocean
pollution is a result of smaller, more widespread releases. Nonpoint source pollution
accounts for 80% of the pollution to the marine environment (National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration [NOAA], 2014).
This waste consists of oil, plastics, fertilizer, pesticides, sewage, and toxic chemicals.
In addition to the effects of pollution, ocean fisheries are suffering the effects of
overfishing. A
2006 study predicted that, if nothing is done about overfishing, there will be a
collapse of all marine fisheries by 2048 (Dean, 2006).
We are polluting and overusing our forest, freshwater, and marine ecosystems. If we
take appropriate measures such as reducing the pollutant load on the systems and
What About Bob Movie Analysis
What About Bob? is a great classic American movie about a guy named Bob who
is multi phobic and very insecure. Bob relies heavily upon therapist to live his
everyday life and does not know how to function without him. The funny movie
entails Bob getting a new therapist on his last day in town before a month vacation,
Bob then follows his therapist to his vacation home and brings out the worst of his
therapist. Bob is a lonely man who lives in New York in a small run down
apartment and does not have any known family members. The only things in Bobs
life are his pet fish Gill and his therapist. Bob has multi phobic personality and acute
separation anxiety. Bob struggles to leave his apartment because he has Mysophobia
which is the fear of germs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Halgin et. al (2010) continues saying common fears of people with agoraphobia
involve such situations as being home alone, in crowds, and especially forms of
public transportation. Bob fits these standards very well in the sense that he
worries about having panic attacks once he leaves his apartment every time. He
has panics constantly when he uses public transportation. For example before Bob
gets onto public transportation he struggles to get into the vehicle because he is
so worried and afraid and when he rides the bus to find Leo, he has a puke bag and
almost uses it because he is so worried. Another example about Bob having panic
disorder with agoraphobia is when Bob is leaving Leo s office he gets onto the
elevator. Once the doors close Bob screams because he does not like being in
elevators and is afraid of them. These examples fit right into the books definitions of
having panic disorder with

Increasing Crimes
INCREASING CRIMES/SUICIDES AMONG THE YOUTH OF INDIA.
INCREASING CRIME RATES AMONG THE YOUTH IN INDIA.
Introduction:
Open any newspaper or tune into any news channel and you can be pretty sure to
stumble upon crimes of all sorts ranging from petty thefts to dacoity, murder,
terrorism, sexual crimes and the like.
The statistics show that the miscreants have been found quite focused and determined
at their jobs. In India for instance, as per the National Crime Records Bureau,
incidences of crime since the early days of independence has gone up by more than
5 times, and this ofcourse excludes the large number of unreported crimes, especially
related to smaller thefts, crime against women and the many cases where the police

* INCOMPLETE EDUCATION SYSTEM.
The modern university educationis focused primarily on providing extensive
information and data, the sole purpose of which is toequip students to earn their
livelihood. Thus, higher aspects of education, such as personality development, value
inculcation, and self discovery are often ignored. With the focus purely on
materialistic achievements, people are tempted to employ unfair means to achieve
the desired object. This mentality, if extended further, can easily lead one to cheat
and subsequently graduate into white collar crimes, such as fraud, forgery and false
pretences. The financial impact of such crimes has been in the range of billions of
dollars, according to the Internationsl Symposium of Crime. The recent Satyam Scam
is only one among the many such examples.
* A SUPERFICIAL CULTURE.
A superficial materialistic culture that focuses on what we possess than What we
really are is largely responsible for misleading the masses. Beguiled by an endless
array of ads, slogans and culture trends prompting us to switch to a high and
luxurious lifestyle that we don t need and can hardly afford, we are gripped with
desire and then with frustration and dismay when we either fail to achieve this, or
if they fail to satisfy us. Hence, we see spiralling statistics of depression as well as
an upsurge in use of alcohol and drugs, big time contributors to crime. Because
having more becomes the criteria for success and
Magnetic Field Lab
The purpose of this lab experiment was to study the magnetic field that surrounds a
magnet and to see how the strength of the magnetic field change with distance from a
magnet. The experiment was successful in achieving its purpose and in proving the
theory of the experiments. In the experiment that we needed to show the magnetic
fieldsurrounding a magnet, we used a piece of paper, a magnet, and a compass to
show the magnetic field. To view the magnetic field that is surrounding the magnet,
we placed the magnet in the middle of the paper and placed the compass in the north
pole of the magnet to see where the arrow is pointing, marked that point, and then
placing the compass at the point again to see where it would point. We continued this

Compare And Contrast Egypt And Mesopotamia
Egypt and Mesopotamia were the two greatest civilizations in ancient times because
of the sophisticated way of living, but most importantly the way the kings rule over
the people. These civilizations had aspects of their daily lives that were similar, and
others in which they are different. Mesopotamians had an idea of expansion in mind,
while Egyptians had an idea of internal ruling and making the people s daily life
peaceful and harmonic. In Ancient Mesopotamiathe most readily available material
for writing was clay. When writing on clay first arose, Mesopotamians would try to
make an artistic representation of what they were referring to. The process was
technical and when you are describing a rock next to a deer, you would draw the
rock first and then add the deer to the picture. Pictograms were the earliest stage in
writing. The Mesopotamian drove an urban social change and that is when cuneiform
was found.
Cuneiform was one of the first writings to be found, it began in Mesopotamia around
3500 BCE. When cuneiform began they were writings with symbols (Woods 129).
They were just pictures that represented words like water that was two squiggly lines
then it became three sticks with arrows that each pointed a certain way. Sumerians
were involved with pictograms, cuneiform and phonetic writing. Each style of writing
elaborated on as different writing systems. Cuneiform writing consists of edge
molded characters utilized written on a dirt tablet. The Sumerians at first
Methods Of Birth Control
Birth control is a way for men and women to prevent pregnancy. There are many
different methods of birth control, including hormonal contraception such as the birth
control pill.
Women take the pill by mouth to prevent pregnancy, and, when taken correctly, it is
up to 99.9% effective. However, the pill does not protect against sexually transmitted
diseases, including HIV (the virus that causes AIDS). The latex male condom
provides the best protection from most STDs. Other types of combined estrogen and
progestin hormonal contraception include the patch and the vaginal ring.
Planned Parenthood works to provide services you need, whether or not you have
insurance. Most Planned Parenthood health centers accept Medicaid and health
insurance. And
John Berger
Many types of paintings exist in the world. While many are old, others are
relatively new and therefore are less famous. An original piece is the sum of an
artist s life s work, often containing a story unique to the viewer. Art is a language, a
snapshot of history, created by the artist. In a sense, the artist is an author, who makes
a point, or showcases certain hardships and tragedies. The author has built a various
network of roads, and the viewer is following the roads that suit their own journey
through the artwork. Where these paintings are original and unique, many artists
make copies of these paintings, known as reproductions. In John Berger s Ways of
Seeing, Berger states that reproductions detract from the valueof the paintings... Show

Some paintings by modern artists are practically worthless as the artist is not famous,
therefore there is no demand for the paintings. The original paintings before replicas
were once The uniqueness of the place where [the painting] resided, sometimes the
painting was transportable. But it could never be seen 2 places at once. (Berger
114). The painting was only ever seen in one place, and therefore was unique and
valuable, however, with reproductions, the same painting could be seen in any
household devaluing the artwork according to Berger. Berger believes that the
painting is now worth less because it can be seen in more places than the one
place where the original resides, and therefore, can be seen by more people.
However, a very famous painting, The Virgin and Child with St. Anne and St.
John the Baptist... Now it hangs in a room by itself. The room is like a chapel.
The drawing is behind bullet proof Perspex... It has become impressive... because
of its market value. (Berger 110). This painting has many reproductions, and yet it is
required to be housed in its own room behind bullet proof glass due to its immense
value. This in my opinion is more valuable now than it was as more people will want
the painting bringing the price and therefore the value of the painting
Biography Of Kanye Omari West On His Intensity And
His...
Kanye Omari West, who was beloved for his intensity and his genius at writing
music, was born in Atlanta, Georgia, June 8th, 1987. West had a difficult
childhood which made him stronger as a person and in turn made him more
motivated to succeed. His success motivated many other artists to follow in his
footsteps and pursue art as careers. He would have gone on to be one of the most
influential figures of our time period because of his success, his popularity, and his
ability to motivate others to follow in his footsteps, if he had not recently passed
away. West was thirty eight years old when he suffered from a deadly heart attack on
the 22nd of February, 2016, just months after his second child Saint West s birth.
Kanye Westleft behind a positive and motivational legacy that people will remember
and think of for a long time.
West did not have the easiest of childhoods, his parents divorced when he was three
and he could only see his father, a professional photographer, when he would spend
the summer with him (A E Networks). His mother raised him single handedly while
maintaining a teaching job as an English professor and Chair of the English
department but retired later to support his rapping career and become his manager
(Contractmusic). He was recruited by successful and well known rapper Jay Z to
produce songs for his new album and then moved on to produce songs for many
other musicians who were around Jay Z at the time like: Alicia Keys, Janet Jackson,
and John Legend
Analysis Of Heinz Ketchup
A Heinz Ketchup advertisement shows sliced tomatoes stacked haphazardly to form
the general shape of a bottle of ketchup. Towards the bottom of the frame, there is a
crisp text that reads, No one grows ketchup like Heinz. Through the analyzation of
this advertisement, it becomes apparent that the advertisement is effective and
interesting in many different aspects, including form, content and style.
The form of this advertisement reflects the artists intentions of making the product,
Heinz ketchup, seem healthier. The lines throughout are very clean and crisp which
gives an air of freshness about the piece. The implied shape of the ketchup bottle
through stacked tomato slices is an innovative way for the artist to show that Heinz

The Proposal I Am Putting Forth Focusses On Violence...
Part 1: Prevalence, Definition, and Parameters (600) 830
The proposal I am putting forth focusses on violence against women. I will
particularly be looking at violence against women in Fiji and how this type of
violence affects the economy and therefore society on the whole. Gender based
violence is a direct result of gender inequality. GBV puts health, security, autonomy
and dignity at high risk. (Secretariat of the Pacific Community, 2009) It pertains to a
huge variety of human rights violations which include, rape, sexual assault,
harassment, domestic violence, sexual abuse of children and traditional practices that
inevitably lead to harm. Though it is the least recognised human rights abuse
globally, violence against women is relevant worldwide regardless of socio
economic status, religion or race. In fact, one in three women will be beaten or
otherwise abused at some point in their life according to UN reports. (United
Nations Department of public information, 2008) Domestic violence perpetuates
gender inequality, limits economic potential and hinders the overall health and well
being of our population. Studies are indicative of the effect of gender based
violence, not only because it is a direct violation of human rights [R] but also
pertains to the grave impacts on the economy through legal, health and household
costs caused. [R] There is an extensive series of losses to the economy that flow on
from violence against women including a loss in the amount of

Please include whether you agree or disagree with the results and tell why.
Most people learn in different ways and are still trying to learn what type of
methods that they prefer. After completing the learning style quiz, it concludes that I
am a visualized learner. Therefore, I would have to agree with these results based on
this last semester of college being all online. For that purpose, I have adjusted to an
all online learning experience, which was not an easy task. For example, one of the
most beneficial learning methods that I have relied as an online student would have to
be the availability of watching videos to help expand my learning.
Did your results surprise you?
For the most part, my results as a visualized learner did
What Is The Purpose Of Michael Crichton s The Great
Train...
When thinking about the book, The Great Train Robbery by Michael Crichton,
readers often wonder what the purpose of Edward Peirce robbing the train was. He
did get a lot of money, but he was already rich since before he robbed the train, so
what was his motive? The author, Michael Crichton, does not answer this question
in his book, so it is left up to the readers to interpret the motive behind Edward
Peirce s robbery. In The Great Train Robbery by Michael Crichton, Edward Peirce s
motive for committing the crime of the century could be that he never got the
feeling of adrenaline, and he was bored playing as a sophisticated rich man. Living
as a rich man in England, life can get pretty dull. Any hard work or challenge is done
by a servant
My Oxfam Hunger Experience
After recently attending the Oxfam Hunger Experience at the Atwood Memorial
Center, I have a new appreciation for the widespread problem of hunger. It was an
eye opening experience that demonstrates the vast number of people that face hunger
on a daily basis. It also illustrated the limited control people have over their situation.
When first arriving to the event, everyone drew a card to determine what income
group they would be in. The proportion of income groups assigned was
proportionally equivalent to the spread of wealth in the real world. I was a part of the
largest group assigned to the lowest income group. With my low income card, I
was allowed to serve myself one small bowl of Ramen noodles. People in the
medium income group were able to grab themselves a plate of spaghetti, and the
highest income group was served their meal, which was spaghetti and meatballs with
cookies. Seeing the proportion of the world that lives below the poverty line was eye
opening. The content of the meals also demonstrated the challenges of eating
healthy on a low budget. People in the high income group ate a well balanced
spaghetti and meatball meal. The low income group ate Ramen noodles, which has
very little nutritional value. People who live on a small income do not have the
means of obtaining fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods due to the higher cost.
For many low income families, fast food becomes an accessible and inexpensive
source of meals, but these meals provide

Essay On Obesity In America.pdf

  • 1. Essay On Obesity In America Writing an essay on the topic of obesity in America can be a challenging task due to the multifaceted nature of the issue. The complexity lies in the need to address various aspects, such as the social, economic, and cultural factors contributing to the prevalence of obesity. It requires thorough research to gather accurate and up-to-date information on the rates of obesity, its causes, and the associated health implications. Moreover, crafting a compelling essay on this topic involves navigating through sensitive subjects, such as body image, public health policies, and lifestyle choices. Striking a balance between presenting the alarming statistics and offering potential solutions without stigmatizing individuals can be particularly tricky. The essay should provide a nuanced perspective that considers both individual responsibility and systemic factors contributing to the obesity epidemic. In addition, maintaining coherence and flow in the essay is crucial. Juggling statistical data, expert opinions, and personal anecdotes requires a skillful hand to ensure that the reader remains engaged and informed. Properly citing sources and avoiding misinformation adds another layer of complexity to the writing process. Furthermore, the writer must be mindful of the evolving nature of the obesity crisis. • 2. Act Reflection One struggle I had with the ACT was managing my time. I wanted to get all I could out of every problem to answer it as best I could. That was hard to do with a fixed amount of time. The mathematics portion of the ACT was also a challenge for me. There were a lot of formulas that I had to memorize and know when and how to use them. Before I took the ACT I did take an ACT prep class that was run by my high school, which gave me tips and tricks on how to do better with each section. The extra preparation did help a little but I still struggled with time management and math. Academically my strengths are science, history, psychology, and sociology. I always find the study of human behavior interesting, rather it be individual or society as a
  • 3. The Client Of A Mental Health Facility The Client s Right To Die A client that has expressed he has been suffering from severe bipolar disorder and his quality of life is so compromised by his illness that he logically and rationally chooses suicide, should be involuntary admitted to a mental health facility. As a counselor for the client it is ethically necessary to try to minimize harm where it is foreseeable and unavoidable (3.04, American Psychological Association, 2002). Subsequently, petitioning to have the client admitted to a mental health facility will serve as a means of trying to minimize harm to the client. According to Illinois law the client is a candidate for involuntary admission to a mental health facility because due to his illness he is reasonably expected to engage in dangerous conduct which places him in harm (405 ILCS 5/1 119). According to Illinois law, as a counselor of at least 18 years of age for the client and who has direct knowledge of the client s desire to harm himself, I would present a petition for admittance to a mental facility to the facility director (405 ILCS 5/3 601). The petition would include the descriptions of client s symptoms of bi polar disorder such as his reports of terrifying and tormenting episodes of depressive psychosis as well as his feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. Most important, the petition would also include his announcement that he has decided to commit suicide, rather than fight his recurrent mental illness. In addition to the reasons
  • 4. Containment as U.S. Policy During Cold War Era Containment as U.S. policy during Cold War Era From after World War II and up until 1991 the foreign policy of the United States was based on Cold War ideology and the policy of containment; to prevent nations from leaning towards Soviet Union based communism, as first laid out by George Kennan and later used as one of the key principles in the Truman Doctrine (LeCain). As this essay will argue, because of this policy the United States made a commitment to fight communism everywhere in the world and got them involved in conflicts more because of self interest, self protection and determination to beat communism than the cause itself. The fear of communism first emerged after the Soviet Revolution in 1917 during the First Red Scare in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though President Truman had developed the policy of containment and gone to war in Korea to fight against communism, Senator McCarthy continued to attack the President calling him a son of a bitch (LeCain) and referred to Truman s and Roosevelt s Democratic administrations as twenty years of treason (Maier 815). Americans grew impatient due to the Korean conflict and McCarthy fueled the already angry and frustrated American voters and in 1952 Dwight D. Eisenhower was elected president. President Eisenhower hinted that if the North Koreans did not come to the peace table, the United States might use atomic weapons (LeCain). Offering the same terms as President Truman did, Eisenhower was able to make the Chinese and North Koreans sign a peace treaty on July 27th 1953 (Maier 815). With Eisenhower as president Senator McCarthy s days were numbered (Fried 132), the massive defense budget would be reduced, but it did not have an effect on American Cold War policy (Brands 43). Eisenhower was a moderate Republican (LeCain) and he did not attempt to cut the New Deal programs, but wanted to reduce the budget. Six weeks after Eisenhower enters office, Stalin dies. This offered a possibility in reductions in defense expenditures, thus reducing the budget (Brands 41). The change of leadership in both Washington and Moscow made Winston Churchill advocate a summit
  • 5. Why Plastic Bags Should Be Banned Banning Plastic Bags The plastic bag is an innovative invention all around the world. It makes the world more convenient and because of this convenience, the plastic bag is multi purposeful and is used widespread such as in stores, houses, restaurants, etc. However, the problem is that a lot of people do not know that plastic bags have many harmful effects. First of all, plastic bags cause environmental damages, and produces cataclysmic events in wildlife. For example, plastic bags become litter after they are found in waterways, parks, beaches, and streets. Plastic bags also effect air when burned, infusing the air with toxins. Something that many may not think about when they think of plastic bags is the harmful effects it brings to the animals. The death of countless animals such as dolphins, turtles, penguins, etc. is due to the production of plastic bags. The ocean is home to thousands of species and ocean wonders but there is so often trash thrown into the sea that disrupts the life beneath the water. Those animals ingest plastic bags and ultimately die, while another animal comes back and eats that dead animal which results in a chain reaction that is going to come back around and bite humans back. The public should realize that plastic bags have adverse effects, and those effects will be worse than the convenience of using a plastic bag. Plastic bags produce environmental pollution. People need to reduce the use of plastic bags in order to save the environment. This
  • 6. On The Importance Of Having Superheroes According to Jen Doll, writer of the article On the Importance of Having Superheroes, Marvel s The Avenger released on May 4, 2012, managed to take in approximately $640 million worldwide within the 12 days it was in theaters. This shows how popular movies based on superheroes have become. It became so popular that from 1978 2017 there has been a drastic increase in the domestic box office of superhero movies. Superheroes movies and television series have become so famous throughout that passing point of years. However, this isn t astonishing because these movies are relatable, send a message/ a lesson to the audience watching, and very flexible. One of the reasons these superhero movies become so popular is because they are relatable. Nathan
  • 7. Death Of A Salesman Flaws Jackson Emory 1/17/17 English Tragic Flaw in Death of a Salesman Death of a Salesman explores a wide range of topics and ideas, from the American dream to suicide and even carbon monoxide poisoning. But one of the most prevalent ideas explored in the novel is the idea of a Tragic Hero. Willy Loman was known for many things, like being a salesman and committing suicide, to name a few, but most of the people who read Death of a Salesman will know him for being a Tragic Hero. Aspects of a Tragic Hero include Hamartia, Hubris, Anagnorisis, and Catharsis, all of which will be explored throughout this essay. Hamartia is the Tragic flaw that eventually leads to the downfall of a hero. Willy exhibits multiple examples of Tragic Flaws, any of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Natural order is how things are supposed to turn out, and Willy completely ignores this. He cannot accept failure, and will not listen when bad news is presented. He tends to project himself on his sons, trying to force them into his hopes for them, not what their hopes are for themselves. He sees Biff as a strong salesman, while Biff wants to have his own ranch out west. Willy defies reality, and attempts to twist his life into his ultimate fantasy, as a successful businessman with successful sons living in a paid off house with his loving wife, but unfortunately his reality is much bleaker. Willy sees himself as the ultimate salesman and one of the most valuable aspects of his company, and when he goes to talk to Howard to try and get a job closer to home but is fired, he cannot accept that fact and lies to Linda and his sons to try and cover his tracks and change his mindset. Willy s sense of pride is also a trait of hubris. He is very proud of his family and his few successes, and tries to sugarcoat things to other people when the reality is far from good. Even his family seems to have caught on to this trait. For example, when Happy and Biff are waiting for Willy in the restaurant, Happy sees a girl he finds attractive. He calls her over and lies to her about being a champagne salesman. When she compliments his career, he says Oh, it gets to be like everything else. Selling is selling, y know? (101). This is ironic
  • 8. Rhetorical Analysis Of The Article Dyson Supersonic Hair... Mary Elizabeth Lawhon Dr. Whittemore ENGL 4160 Essay 1 Rhetorical Analysis of a Wired Article The Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer Hair dryers are the the least glamorous part of looking glamorous. They re cumbersome, their cords tangle easily, and they devour precious drawer space (Shin p.1). Upon skimming through wired.com s plethora of articles surrounding high tech products, I couldn t help but go back to this fancy hair dryer. Who knew Dyson made anything more than vacuums? I sure had no idea. The Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer is state of the art, modern, efficient and much more comfortable to use compared to any other hair dryer in this day and age. Shin provides the reader with plausible argument as to why this hair dryer is top notch.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He starts by claiming that this new Supersonic hair dryer has a tiny but powerful, motor the same technology Dyson employs in its blade less fans that produce a strong, even flow of hot air (Shin p. 3). This statement aids in the argument that this hair dryer is to be admired. He goes on to tell us about the weight of the object and that the motor is located inside of the handle. He compares this aspect of the dryer to that of other dryers, stating that classic hair dryers have that L shape and a large motor, creating an off centered and uncomfortable handle. In addition, Shin makes note of the three styling attachments that snap onto the dryer. All of these features of the Supersonic hair dryer help to invoke an aesthetic appeal that creates beauty and attractiveness to the overall product. By going into detail and describing the functions of the different parts of the hair dryer, Shin attracts the reader to its exquisite design and purpose. There is evidently more convince in the design of this dryer as well, with it including a more comfortable grip. Slack and Wise solidify the importance of convenience with technology by stating that, Technologies make life better because they make life more convenient; that is, they save time, conquer space, and create comfort (Slack and Wise p.
  • 9. Plato s The Meno, A Greek Philosopher And The Wisest Of... Alexis Evans Midterm Paper 11/4/14 Topic 1 In Plato s The Meno, Socrates, who was a Greek philosopher and considered one of the wisest of all people expresses his views on the relationship between knowledge and virtue. In todays era, virtue is defined as having good morals as a human being. Knowledge is defined as factual information and skills that are acquired by a person through experience or education. Together Socrates makes a statement and or beliefs, that virtue is knowledge because if you know what is right, you will in fact do what is right. While in a conversation with Socrates, Meno then asks if virtue can ever be taught. Socrates answers his question in that they both have to discuss at that point if virtue can be taught because he is uncertain. They must first define clearly what virtue is to even answer Meno s question of if virtue can even be taught or not. At the end of the debate, the final conclusion Socrates makes is that virtue is not something natural or can never be taught. Socrates then believes that it is just simply a gift from god that we all receive it without ever realizing. Through the process, Meno and Socrates go at it, Meno thinking he is getting close to the correct answer just to have Socrates shot it down. After a few times of Meno guessing, he doesn t have anything else to say and gives up. Socrates main argument responds with that learning is not discovering anything new but rather remembering something the soul knew before your

There is six values within National Association of Social work Code of Ethics (NASW): Service, Social Justice, Dignity, and Self worth of the person, Importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. These values are for social workers and their work with the client(s). Regardless of one s race, religious belief, sex or sexual orientation each value benefits all individuals. Value: Importance of Human Relationships Importance of Human Relationship is highly important in the social work profession. Human relationships are valuable, not only in the social work profession but all professions. Looking back at my own experiences with working with the community and organizations, I have seen how important it is to have human relationships. Working as an Activity Assistant in a nursing home and a Navy Ombudsman provided many opportunities to see how relationships can be successful with working with others and creating bonds not only with individual, community
  • 11. Western Film Research Paper Western Essay Alannah Jones When you think about film genre, you may ask yourself questions such as, how has it evolved over time? Why has it evolved over time? How has it shaped popular culture? Film, regardless of the genre, consists of elements, in which makes it a film. In a western genre, you may look for elements such as costumes, effects/editing, and narrative. What about these elements makes them important in a Western film? In the film industry, costumes are an important element. Not only do the costumes support the genre, but they also conduct character s representation. In the film The Magnificent 7 , Yul Brynner, the man who creates the magnificent seven, is dressed in all black. Whereas, every other character is either in white ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first film, which I mentioned above, special effects and editing had not been strongly developed quite yet. You notice this during some points in the film. Including, whenever a character was shot, there was no immediate effect. Typically the character would grasp their chest, around the heart area, and fall forward onto the ground, revealing the blood and injury from the bullet on their back. Whereas in the second film, after Butch and Sundance were shot, there was immediate effect. They both sat down in hiding, felt their injury and when they lifted their hands, they were covered in blood. In the third film, when a man was shot, he was taken back to a small town, and a veterinarian attempted at taking the bullet out of his chest, you could clearly see the injury and the damage it had caused this man. Editing and effects have evolved drastically. These days in films, once someone hits the ground, whether it be from a gunshot, or some other type of hit, you instantly see blood. Either pooling beside their heads or by their sides, or their hands dripping with it. Editing and effects have become so realistic, that it has shaped popular culture to the point of where, the effects can t be any less than what they are. If editing and effects, were to be less, they would be criticised and not

The liquid that is pumped across is called the mobile phase and the particles are the stationary phase. A mixture of the molecules that will be separated is put into the mobile phase. Thin layer chromatography tells you/helps you determine the number of compounds in a mixture, the purity of a compound, and the identity of compounds if you have examples to pull information from. Thin layer chromatography is used to separate nonvolatile mixtures. If you use solutions of known concentrations and compare the unknown to the standards, then you can gain some quantitative information. You can also calculate Rf values taking the distance traveled divided by the total distance of the eluent. After we chopped up our spinach leaf we used hexane and ethanol to separate out compounds in our leaf. After adding water, we removed the top layer and spotted a TLC plate to separate out our compounds. We also used a mixture of hexane/ethyl acetate (1:1) and hexane/ethyl acetate (20:1) to use as our developing solution. The (1:1) solution gave use six compounds separated out on a TLC plate with xanthophyll being the most polar and carotene being the least polar. On the other hand, the (20:1) solution gave us one compound that moved through our TLC plate. Looking at the plate it seems like it is the carotene that moved while everything else remained near the polar side of the plate. The most polar molecule was Rhodamine B (bright pink red) then Fast Green (blue) then we had a clear compound show up, then Bismark Brown (yellow orange) and the least polar compound was Sudan IV

The Roman army during its time was the greatest empire in the west until modern times. It was built upon the hostility of the great Roman soldier. Compared to the warriors they fought, the Romans appeared to be much more professional and controlled. The men of the Roman legion, which is a great number of soldiers, soon became the monarchs in heavy infantry at time when heavy infantry ruled the battlefield. Non Romans joined as auxiliaries. An auxiliary was paid a third as much as a legionary. Auxiliaries guarded forts and frontiers, but also fought in battles, often in the front lines, where it was the most dangerous. In battle, men would march behind the legion s standard, a silver aquila (eagle). The Roman army consisted of about 30 legions. Each legion had between 4,000 and 6,000 soldiers, called legionaries. The commanding officer of the whole legion was called the legate. Legionaries were the best Roman soldiers, and best paid. A large amount of the soldiers had special skills whether it be with a bow, flung stones from slingshots, or swimming rivers to surprise an enemy. The artillery consisted of giant catapults, called onagers, machines that fired rocks or balls of burning tar. Also the romans used big crossbows, called ballistas, too. Most of the time romans fought on foot. Calvary was a big help to the Romans to rout the enemy. In a battle situation, the cavalry would line up on either side of the infantry to help them out. Roman
  • 14. Analysis Of American Pie Modernism was a 20th century literary movement that depicted a period of uncertainty and disillusion in the United States. The literary movement was marked by various culture shock caused by events such as both World Wars and the Vietnam War. Because of such shock, American culture and societal values changed as society began to focus more on the self and forgo the traditional Victorian values and virtues of the preceding Romantic era. During this movement, writer sought to write in a way that better suited the modern world and thus chose to focus on the decay of values and growing alienation of the individual. Writers and poets began using techniques such as streams of consciousness and writing with a sense of ambiguity. There was also the poetic movement, imagism during the Modernismera where poets became increasingly concerned with presenting a simple, clear image to their readers. Due to his use of modernist techniques and poetic devices such as the adoption of the stream of consciousness writing style, the use imagery, allusions, and symbolism, Don McLean s song, American Pie, can be considered a work of modernist poetry. By way of his literary techniques and poetic devices, McLean is able to take his listeners through a pivotal decade in American history in just eight and a half minutes; however, it is what makes his lyrics a song that helps build American Pie s tone and further develop the theme of a generation s early loss of innocence, culture, and values that

The Environmental Protection Agency ( Epa ) Radiation Cleanup Organizations The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that there are over one thousand sites in the United States contaminated with radionuclides. Many of these contaminated sites have been thoroughly cleaned in a process to decontaminate the site to meet certain standards. These locations vary in size ranging from a small laboratory to a decommissioned nuclear powerplant and even a large scale nuclear weapons facility. The Department of Energy (DOE) along with many other government agencies understands the risk involved with exposure to large doses of radiation and has established cleanup programs throughout the Unites States. These cleanup programs are responsible for decontaminating the site to ensure the public is safe from radiation exposure. The following describes radioactive cleanup programs in the United States, and the huge role they play in keeping the nuclear industry as safe as possible. One of the oldest radionuclide cleanup programs is the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP). • 17. Key Elements Of Classical And Operant Conditioning Behaviourist Theories This essay examines behaviourist theories and discusses key elements of classical and operant conditioning. It considers a variety of psychological theorists and profoundly explores their research. Behaviourism is a psychological approach that explains human development as learning from experience rather than a result of inborn tendencies or higher order thinking. (Moonie, 2006) The behaviourist movement began in 1913 when Watson wrote the article Psychology as the behaviourist views it. Additionally, Pavlov, Thorndike and Skinner worked to develop behavioural theories of learning. They suggest that all behaviour is learned either through classical or operant conditioning. (Cardwell and Flanagan, 2012, p.50) Thorndike s research offered valuable insights into conditioning. He studied the way animals learn through trial and error by observing their responses in controlled conditions. For example, a hungry cat would experiment with methods of escaping from a cage to receive a reward of food. When the cat discovered actions that helped it escape, it would remember them. Thorndike believed any action that produced a good effect would be imprinted in an animal s mind. In 1898, Thorndike wrote the article, the Law of Effect which elucidated how consequences govern actions. He presented the idea that animals and humans learn to repeat actions that provide positive effects and avoid actions which have negative outcomes. Consequently, his theory provided

This sets into motion a plan of revenge that will end in a bloodbath, as most of the major characters die. Throughout Hamletthe protagonist struggles with inner conflict, stemming from his inability to form his thoughts into action. Although the royal court falls apart in the end, it is taken over and supposedly restored by Prince Fortinbras. This helps resolve the play by giving the audience a sense of Denmark s future. However, the play is not resolved because the concept of an afterlife is never defined in the context of the play. The audience only has Hamlet s perception of death. Hamlet also lacks growth as a character. Although he eventually gets justice for his father and kills Claudius, he only acted because his hand was forced. According to Claudius plan, Hamlet was supposed to die in the final act, meaning he wouldn t have gotten the chance to avenge his father. Hamlet is never able to turn his thoughts into action, therefore being a coward by his own definition as well as never developing as a character. The only resolution comes from Prince Fortinbras taking over. The play lacks resolution because the audience does not know if the end goal was met, That being, whether Hamlet s revenge saved the King Hamlet. It is important that the play lacks resolution because the audience is left out of important details that would change the meaning of the play. As if the person has a good work ethic it teaches the ones looking up to them that if they are going to succeed in life they are going to need to work hard and keep committed to their goals. Duddy does have a role model that teaches him how to work hard, that person being his father. The four great kingdoms that Daniel mentioned are Babylon, Medo Persia, Greece, and Rome. Daniel stated in detail that these four kingdoms would come out the earth. The Babylonian, Persian, Greek, and Roman empires were all different in size, power, and in many other ways. It is noted that Daniel use animal symbols to describe these four kingdoms. First, the Babylonia kingdom is represented by a lion that had wings like an eagle in which stood like a man on its two feet. It is imperative to state, The lion s wings being torn off speaks of the king s insanity and loss of power; standing on two feet like a man and receiving a human heart (mind) denotes Nebuchadnezzar s humanitarian rule after his insanity; and the lion being lifted up from the ground indicates that it was God who raised the king to his place of honor. Some critics argue this, however, as Auden stating that there is nothing disgraceful in being unknown. The poem is, above all, a satire of the way conformity hinders the individual and leaves ridiculous and solely external distinctions between human beings. Auden presents an allegory in The Unknown Citizen that begins even before the poem itself. The phrase Unknown Citizen appears only once in the title. This term is an immediate allusion to and parody of the Unknown Soldier, especially considering the details of who the poem is dedicated to and the fact that it is found on a marble monument, much like those one might expect to see in Washington, D.C. where the United States is home to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Unknown Solider is a soldier who cannot be recognized after being found in battle. This sometimes controversial idea can be interpreted to mean that many people die as unknowns because they lived uninfluential lives. Aside from this large allegory, the poem uses only a few rhetorical devices. In line four, for example, ...in the modern sense of an old fashioned word, he was a saint is quite an exaggeration because being one against whom there was no official complaint is hardly saintly (2). • 37. The Epic Of Beowulf By William Beowulf The book Beowulf is a story of a man named Beowulf, who comes from the land of the Geats, who is continuously put to the test having to fight in battles, in which in his last battle he Beowulf finds death. After reading Beowulf I have concluded that this book is meant to glorify the men who have fought and succeeded in violent battles. Those men hold a legacy and power in which there name is known throughout. Those same men have children or sons and their sons continue to hold that legacy with them and make one of their own, if they do not then they no longer have power and fame and become unknown. Therefore in order to hold a legacy, have power, and become known, one must fight in brutal wars and must win in those wars, and one main person that fulfilled this duty was Beowulf. As the story begins it introduces a warrior, King Shield Sheafson, scourge of many tribes, a wrecker of mead benches, rampaging amoung foes (3). Although he did not have a father he, flourished later on as his powers waxed and his worth was proved (3), he was known as one good king. It is he who became the founding father that started a legacy for the land of the Danes. King Shield had a famous son named Beow, who was then passed the throne after his father s death. Beow was known through the North and was well regarded and ruled the Danes for a long time (7). He fathered four children, Heorogar, Hrothgar, Halga, and a daughter. Hrothgar is the only son that became known. Herorogar, Halga, and his

The term civil law referring to a legal system should not be confused with civil law as a group of legal subjects distinct from criminal or public law. A third type of legal system accepted by some countries without separation of church and state is religious law, based on scriptures. It s easy to act on anger, greed, revenge or any of highlighted above, but it takes courage and strength to determine that there is something more important than that. There are two core reasons why weakness prevails with some: 1) Lack of faith, not believing enough in the power of one s own internal weapons (against inner demons), such as: courage, tolerance, understanding, forgiveness, mercy, honesty, sincerity, integrity, honor, modesty, humbleness, generosity, love, compassion, kindness, detachment, patience, self discipline, temperance, etc. As a result of not trusting inner resources, there is no enough motivation to develop them and use them. • 39. Balance Sheet And Income Statements In the world of business, it is crucial to keep track of revenues and expenses in order to evaluate the economic condition of one s business. Other than revenues and expenses, accountants must also document the changes within a business s assets and liabilities. Changes in assets and liabilities affect the owner s equity. The revenue and expense accounts are recorded in the income statement, while assets, liabilities, and owner s equity are recorded in the balance sheet. The balance sheet and income statements make up the general ledger. The purpose of a subsidiary ledger, also known as a subledger or subaccount, is to show the details of a specific account under the general ledger. The subsidiary ledger updates companies on the spending trends of each individual customer. Consequently, the subsidiary ledger can also inform the company of debts it owes to other companies or organizations. The ending balance in the subsidiary ledger should be equivalent to the ending balance in the controlling account, which is a summary of the general ledger. Not all accounts in the general ledger require a subsidiary ledger. Typically, accounts with a high amount of transactions call for a subsidiary ledger. This is extremely common in big companies that provide services in exchange for cash. By having subsidiary ledgers, large corporations can keep better records of their fiscal information. These organized records, in turn, give owners a chance to evaluate the productivity of the

These civilizations had aspects of their daily lives that were similar, and others in which they are different. Mesopotamians had an idea of expansion in mind, while Egyptians had an idea of internal ruling and making the people s daily life peaceful and harmonic. In Ancient Mesopotamiathe most readily available material for writing was clay. When writing on clay first arose, Mesopotamians would try to make an artistic representation of what they were referring to. The process was technical and when you are describing a rock next to a deer, you would draw the rock first and then add the deer to the picture. Pictograms were the earliest stage in writing. The Mesopotamian drove an urban social change and that is when cuneiform was found. Cuneiform was one of the first writings to be found, it began in Mesopotamia around 3500 BCE. Gender based violence is a direct result of gender inequality. GBV puts health, security, autonomy and dignity at high risk. (Secretariat of the Pacific Community, 2009) It pertains to a huge variety of human rights violations which include, rape, sexual assault, harassment, domestic violence, sexual abuse of children and traditional practices that inevitably lead to harm. Though it is the least recognised human rights abuse globally, violence against women is relevant worldwide regardless of socio economic status, religion or race. In fact, one in three women will be beaten or otherwise abused at some point in their life according to UN reports. It was an eye opening experience that demonstrates the vast number of people that face hunger on a daily basis. It also illustrated the limited control people have over their situation. When first arriving to the event, everyone drew a card to determine what income group they would be in. The proportion of income groups assigned was proportionally equivalent to the spread of wealth in the real world. I was a part of the largest group assigned to the lowest income group. With my low income card, I was allowed to serve myself one small bowl of Ramen noodles. People in the medium income group were able to grab themselves a plate of spaghetti, and the highest income group was served their meal, which was spaghetti and meatballs with cookies. Seeing the proportion of the world that lives below the poverty line was eye opening. The content of the meals also demonstrated the challenges of eating healthy on a low budget. People in the high income group ate a well balanced spaghetti and meatball meal. The low income group ate Ramen noodles, which has very little nutritional value. People who live on a small income do not have the means of obtaining fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods due to the higher cost.
