Review Of Michael Hammer s Reengineering At Net Speed ...
Introduction This paper is a summary of research on scholarly articles by Michael Hammer,
Ph.D. The three articles are Reengineering at Net Speed , The New Business Agenda and Putting
Six Sigma in Perspective . Dr. Hammer earned his bachelors, masters and Ph.D. in computer
science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was professor in the computer science
department at MIT and a lecturer in the MIT Sloan School of Management. He is best known
for his work in business process engineering (https://en.wikipedia.org). Reengineering At Net
Speed Fasten your seat belt; it ll be quite a ride , is how Dr. Michael Hammer ended his 1999
article in InformationWeek titled, Reengineering at Net Speed . The article focuses on the
possibilities the internet will have on business processes and how process reengineering is
necessary in net age. Dr. Hammer argues that reengineering is necessary with the internet because
automating a mess yields an automated mess . He argues that a poorly designed process in a
traditional business environment will be a poor designed process on the internet as well. He further
states that processes will be need to implemented and designed to support the internet model of
business. The internet model of business has high customer value access. Customers are able to
place orders and check on shipments. Hammer also states the internet has no boundaries.
Companies are able to business anywhere in the world due to ubiquity of the

The Work Of Nina Simone
Nina Simone was born Eunice Kathleen Waymon, February 21, 1933 in North Carolina. The
sixth of eight children, she began playing the piano at the age of three and showed extreme
talent for classical music. Due to the poverty of her family, her mother worked as a maid. Nina
showed her talent to her mother s employer, who recognized her great ability and started a fund
to pay for Nina s piano lessons and early education. When she was twelve she performed a
classical piano recital. Her parents had taken two front seats to proudly watch their daughter, but
were forced to move to the back row in favor of the white attendants of the concert. Nina refused to
play a single note until her parents regained their seats. She later cited this incident as one of the
main reasons she became a Civil Rights activist.
After high school, she was given a partial scholarship to Julliard School in New York City. She
left Julliard, due to lack of funds, began to play jazz and blues, and made ends meet playing in
night clubs. Shortly after, she took on the stage name Nina Simone. She was able to release her first
album, Little Blue Girl , in 1958. With this album she was able to gain influential African
Americans, like Langston Hughes and James Baldwin, as fans of her work.

In the 1960s Nina Simone was known as the leading voice, or musician, of the Civil Rights
movement. After the assassination of Civil Rights leader and activist Medgar Evers and

Fascism and Nazism Rise
During World War Two, the Axis powers were ran by two different kinds of government ideas. In
Germany the government was Nazism raised by their leader Adolf Hitler. In Italy there was
Fascism ruled by their leader Benito Mussolini. Fascism and Nazism appealed to the people
because how they were living during the time the two came to power. The two main reasons that
made them so appealing were the nationalistic feeling which rose in people and the feeling of a
better lifestyle during economic troubles. These different strategies of government presented false
promises to desperate people.
Fascism was widely practiced in Italy after World War One and during World War Two. The leader
credited for the idea of fascism in Italy was Benito Mussolini. Fascism is described as a radical
authoritarian nationalism that came to prominence in early twentieth century Europe ( Wikipedia).

Germany during the second world war was Adolf Hitler. Nazism supporters believed they were the
superior race in all the world. The true definition of Nazism is The ideology and practice of the
Nazis, especially the policy of racist nationalism, national expansion, and state control of the
economy (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Nazism). The Nazi Party won the people s support
after World War One when economic crisis hit Germany. The German democratic government
was not strong enough for this crisis and a new group was elected into power. With the Nazi party
in control, the people started to believe they were the superior race. Hitler was able to convince
the German people they were the better race by succeeding in the Olympics that year. Germany

Third Party Logistic Services
2.1.2 Description of third party logistic services providers
According to various studies, Berglund et al. (1999) explain that third party logistics has several
definitions that are an activities consisting of transportation and management, and warehousing on
behalf of the shipper are carried out. Wilding and Juriado (2004) define that a company who solely
operates for the provision of logistics related single or multiple services on a contractual basis, is
called Third Party Logistics Company. Especially, the true third party logistics companies
provide a solution to the problem in the supply chain by incorporating multiple logistics services
that are managed solely or together (Schary and Larsen, 1995). Coltman, Gattorna and Whiting
(2010) suggest that third party logistics companies must create a large range of services to meet
their distinct needs. A definition by Lieb et al. (1993) explain that 3PL providers can assist the
whole processes of supply chain or just only selected activities depending on a company s
preference. It is also conclude the definition of outsourced logistics services that the employ of
external firms to provide logistics services for the whole or selected logistics activities within the
process that have traditionally been performed within an organization is the outsourced logistics.
The roles performed by the 3PL providers can be making especially to customers requirements (The
Client Company) derived from market demands and conditions.

Julius Caesar Quote Analysis
Sanders Brutus s Thoughts
The play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare is about Brutus who is convinced by Cassius that
the ruler Julius Caesar is becoming too powerful for Rome s own good. Brutus and other
conspirators take this potential dictator down by killing him. Rome breaks into chaos but all in all
the chaos was better than having Julius Caesar as a dictator. Brutus and Bernie Sanders think alike
in the way they want a fair and equal society. They both strongly want to take down the higher
people in the world. While Bernie Sanders is looking to take down the 1% and Wall St Brutus is
looking to take down Caeser. Both of them in all want to help the common folk and plebeians of
their country.

A plebeian says ,on act 3 scene 2 line 63 We are blest that Rome is rid of him but after Anthony is
done talking a plebeian says Caesar has had great wrong. . This quote shows how easily the
crowd is swayed and how quickly they can move on. Bernie Sanders gets affected by this except
he isn t against Anthony but he is against Hillary Clinton. we should level with the American
people, said Hillary Clinton in a 2016 Democratic debate. Hillary is acting as if Bernie Sanders
is not telling the truth and is trying to lie to the citizens of The United States of America.
Anthony also does the same tactic of making the crowd doubt Brutus s words. Voters are most
likely to trust Clinton states a poll by a magazine called The Week. This shows how the wicked
ways of Hillary are working just as how they worked against Bernie Sanders. Trust is what
everyone wants from a candidate and Hillary is getting just that.

Gender Roles Of Men And Women
Roles of Males and Females in Different Television Programs
Americans watch an alarming amount of television starting from a young age. The average
American watches five hours of television a day (Koblin 2016). This enormous amount of media
input influences perceptions and is connected to cementing many things in people, such as gender
roles. Gender roles are thoughts, actions, and feelings learned by a person fitting their gender due
to cultural norms (Santrock 2016). Additionally, stereotypes appeal to people s emotions and
television shows are infamous for relying on them due to lack of time for character development
(Signorielli 2001). Different television show categories reflect roles and representations of males
and females in both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also parallels the Signorielli article s findings that children s shows fare better than cartoons
but still convey a noticeably uneven representation (Signorielli 2001). Also in congruence with the
Signorielli article, situational comedies score the best in equal representation (Signorielli 2001). In
my findings, Friends was the only show to have true equal representation and the other situational
comedy viewed, Seinfeld, has more main male characters but there is an overall greater flexibility
in gender roles. Notably, it is easier to include females in situational comedies to create more humor
due to the stereotyped emotions and victim role that provides comical plots.
Female and Male Stereotypes
The issue of the underrepresentation of females is further worsened in the television shows through
the gender stereotypes. Women are viewed as more youthful, domestic, emotional, affectionate, and
more emphasis is placed on beauty (Signorielli 2001). In Seinfeld, the only major female character,
Elaine, is seen as helpless, emotional, and nagging. In the episode, The Little Kicks , although her
profession of lead editor is non traditional, female stereotypes are implemented by her feeling lost
and going insane from her staff acting differently towards her because she had embarrassing dance
moves at the company party (Feresten Ackerman

Microsoft Essay
Microsoft
There have been many arguments and issues that have been raised with the controversy over
Microsoft and the U.S. Department of Justice s claim against Microsoft and its founder Bill Gates
of monopolistic practices in bundling its internet browser Internet Explorer into its popular
Windows computer operating system. By doing this, Microsoft would effectively crush its
competitors (it s main rival being Netscape Navigator), and acquire a monopoly over the software
that people use to access the Internet.
I recently heard a listener on NPR (National Public Radio) comment about the monopoly issue
between Microsoft and the U.S. D.O.J. that Intellectual endeavors are vastly infinite and thus cannot
be monopolized. I wonder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many corridors and keys that allow someone to gain access to the Internet. The real
question here is whether Microsoft is seeking to widen it s doors at the expense of others and at
the same time seeking gatekeeper access to the Internet by seeking to obtain the only key that
allows access to the Internet. A metaphor of this problem can be explained through a library
building that has many entrances in which to reach the knowledge of books contained within. Is
Microsoft seeking to close off the other entrances of other providers so that the only access is
through its entrance? It would be very tempting to say yes, but that would be wholly unfair.
Now that the problem and issue which is presented to us is clear, an examination of whether or
not Microsoft is violating any anti trust (anti monopolistic) laws can now proceed. Before he
installed Windows 95, John Dodge connected to the Internet using software from a Microsoft
competitor, CompuServe s Internet in a Box. Not anymore. Windows 95 silently disabled a key
piece of his setup and made it too difficult for him to reinstall it. Dodge was not a novice. He is
senior executive editor of the trade journal PC Week and so had access to the highest level support
engineers. Even software professionals learn to take the path of least resistance, in this case, the
path leading to Microsoft. He has become a

Comparing Beowulf, Grendel s Mother And Hildeburth
In the epic of Beowulf, written by an anonymous Anglo Saxon poet, there are three women that
have pivotal roles, Wealhtheow, Grendel s Mother and Hildeburth. Throughout the epic, we see
each of these women characters play specific roles that are important to the society they are living
in. The epic would not be the same if each womandidn t play their significant part. Each woman
plays an important role either in the mead hall, in the home or in battle. Each of these woman
makes for a successful storyline that goes together flawlessly and makes for a poem that has
been read for centuries and will continue to be read in years to come. Wealhtheow is the Queen
of the Spear Danes and wife of King Hrothgar. She only appears for a short time in the story, but
when she does she is in charge of carrying a goblet of mead around for the warriors to eat. When
her husband passes away, she is nervous about the fate of the Danish Kingdom. She makes a long
speech directed towards Beowulfthat she needs to defend her son s rights to the throne. Beowulf
shows his heroic and humble quality here by not taking the throne himself and giving it to who is
next in line. Grendel s mother, who is only referred to as this, is known to be just as massive and
monster like as her son. Throughout the story she is trying to protect her son against death and in
doing so she attacks HeorotHall. While defending her son, she kills one man but she is now scared
of the Geatish warriors and the fight they put up

College Retirement Benefits
As college quickly approaches, the financial decisions I constitute today will affect me for the rest
of my life. As a young adult with minimal financial experience, one uneducated decision could
establish a precedence of financial insecurity for the majority of my young life. Consequently,
planning a budget and savings plan will immensely benefit my future spending and saving habits.
Another decision is how to independently manage my personal income and my spouse s student
loans. Lastly, contemplating the later years of my life propagates the necessity of a retirement plan
and investing.
Ten years from now, I will sustain a stable career as a physical education teacher and an assistant
college softball coach earning approximately $50,000 a year. I will have graduated from college
approximately six years prior and plan to have my college debt paid off. I m constructing the
presumption that I will be in a stable relationship, living with my significant other, and

American people from a wide variety of terrorist threats. On March 24th and 25th, 2014, President

Nuclear Forensics and the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office
Nuclear forensics is one of the two key elements of nuclear security. Nuclear forensics is the
analysis of seized contraband nuclear or radioactive material and any corresponding material in
order to provide evidence that will assist in identifying the source of the nuclear or radioactive
material and determine its point of origin (International Atomic Energy Agency, 2006). Nuclear
forensics also covers the use of the information gathered by the original analysis to determine the
routes of transit and any corresponding equipment. The process of nuclear forensics and evidence
gathered can ultimately to be instrumental in the prosecution of all those responsible (International
Atomic Energy Agency, 2006).
Domestic Nuclear Detection Office is the primary entity for nuclear detection in America. Detection
is another of the key elements the Department of Homeland Security focuses on improving
constantly, through the use of its Domestic Nuclear Detection Office, in order to continue to strive
towards fending off terrorist attacks, and providing protection for the American people as well as
assist in the international effort to enhance global nuclear security (Department of Homeland
Security 2, 2016). The DNDO s mission is to, Prevent nuclear terrorism by continuously improving

person to person through body fluids or through objects that have been previously contaminated
with body fluids (5). After transmission and incubation period (three to

The envelopes of EBOV and MARV are composed of glycoproteins (GP). GP are essential for the
entry of the viruses into the host cell by attaching to its cell surface (10). GP is a homotrimer of
GP1 (membrane protein) GP2 (transmembrane protein) heterodimer linked by disulfide bonds (11
12). The mechanism on how GP1 and GP2 drive the introduction of the virus into the host cell is
not well understood yet (7). However, it is known that is characterized by three steps: attachment,
uptake, and membrane fusion (7). GP1 is involved in adhesion of the receptor with the host cell
surface, whereas GP2 is involved in the virus host cell membrane fusion and entry (13). In most
cases GP1 is believed to bind to different glycosaminoglycans
(GAG) from the host cell i.e. heparin sulfate, to be able to efficiently enter the host cell (2).
GAGs are negative, unbranched polysaccharides found in mostly all cells surfaces but differ in
composition between species (4). It is believed that GAGs are not the only possible way of
attachment for filoviruses to the host surface, meaning that there are other host factors that aid in
viral entry (2). After attachment, virions get into the host cell through micropinocytosis followed
by endosome trafficking which leads to membrane fusion (7). A low pH due to the endosomal
events is what leads to the initiation of membrane fusion (7).
G protein coupled receptors (GPCR) are the biggest and most diverse family of protein in

Abraham Lincoln Rhetorical Analysis
Leaders strive for unity and do everything they can to ensure cohesiveness within their people.
America is an improbable idea that thrives due to determined leaders venturing for unity and
stepping into a position of responsibility that entails making and executing tough decisions.
Respected leaders are a principal technique used in uniting a nation such as the United States.
Abraham Lincoln and George Washington are respected leaders featured in the works that
described their aims to unite the nation. Abraham Lincoln illustrated how he was extremely
devoted ... to saving the union and that is the dominant rationale for him becoming president for
the second time (Lincoln 13). Pathos were inscribed within his speech to prove that he had a
goal and he was determined to achieve it. Embedded in Lincoln s inaugural address, was the idea
that the citizens of the United States and himself did not want a lasting war and tried to persuade
them to cease fighting and unite. Accordingly, one of the most integral leaders in American
history was Abraham Lincoln who is remembered for being the 16th president and very
respected. During the civil war, Lincoln was in office and he delivered his second inaugural
address about ending the war and rebuilding the union because America is stronger united than
divided. Through Lincoln s presidency, he brought about the start of the end of the civil war and
was making progress before his assassination. Leutze s painting demonstrates Washington his
followers going into battle together to fight as one powerful team. Leutze portrayed Washington in
a boat at the front of the pack to demonstrate how he was a leader and how his followers united
under him to go into battle together (Leutze 11). As a respected leader, people listen to your plans
and the soldiers believed in Washington to do what s best for the nation. Washington was a leader
and therefore everyone followed him in reaching for the same goal of defeating the British. As the
citizens united and lined the Delaware behind Washington it became evident that Washington could
unite America. The lighting and color scheme of the painting led viewers to infer that Washington
led the soldiers into the light as they sailed out of the

Learning Disabilities
1. There is no such thing as a typical student with a learning disability
This represents to me how diverse and complex those individuals with learning disabilities can be in
their capabilities and in the ways that they need support. They can have a learning disability that
affects their academic achievement and memory, along with how they process information, and so
much more. One student could have a learning disability that affects their achievement with
mathematics but not their reading or language abilities, and vice versa. Short term, long term,
and working memory can also be affected to varying degrees, and this will be different from
student to student. One thing that is typical of students with learning disabilities is that they
would probably have average to above average intelligence. However, their academic
achievement often shows a deficit of a lower level of intelligence, depending on where their
difficulties or challenges are within academics. Emotionally and socially, students will also range
in their abilities to make and keep friends, might have classroom behavior problems, might have
anxiety, but also might have no social and emotional struggles at all. To me, it depends greatly on
the support that they receive at home starting out and within the school while they are learning.
The more we support these students the less likely they will be to have as many social and
emotional issues, along with grow and develop academic skills while being held to

Marie Curie Accomplishments
No one would have expected that a young Polish girl from an impoverished family would have
made such great contributions and become one of the most influential scientists to ever live.
During the 1860 s, society did not expect poor young women to become more than a housewife, let
alone pursue a career in science. However, Marie Curiebroke through these stereotypes and in
doing so, inspired many women to follow in her footsteps. Many would believe that someone
who has gained so much recognition in the scientific community and achieved their lifetime goal
would have a positive outlook in life and a optimistic attitude. However, this was not the case for
Marie Curie, who battled severe depression from an early age. Although Marie Curie found herself
in some dark places, she worked even harder to overcome many societal and personal challenges.
Without Marie Curie s lifetime dedication to science, her discovery of radium and polonium, and
her scientific contributions to radiation, our world would not be the same.

Music Education In Music
The stigma associated with pursuing an education in the musical arts affects the decision of many
musicians nationwide. The appeal of guaranteed financial and career stability of STEM and other
paths of high demand jobs is very difficult to pass up, even by the most dedicated musicians. Then,
the input and advice of outsiders come into play. These onlookers not only encourage study of the
hard sciences and a foolproof path to success via university, but they also totally and blatantly
discourage and belittle the intelligence, rationality and integrity of not just the paths of musicians,
but all liberal artists. Don t you want to make money? What do you mean you won t have
internships, don t you want a job? How are you going to survive? This blitzkrieg of questioning and
doubt, though theoretically peripheral to the bigger picture, is reasonably common, however,
severely unjustified. Pursuing a formal college education in musicis easily one of the best things
you could do for yourself, regardless of whether or not this is the career path of your choosing.
As a student of formal music education, you are actually being trained in more real world skills
than most other majors, which will prepare you for many careers, making you stand out amongst
the masses. Being a music major, you learn more than just music, you learn problem solving
skills, how to communicate and collaborate, and how to overcome failure, which are all essential
skills to have as a professional in today s day

The Likely Cause Of Earthquakes In The United States
Name: Olawale Oluwakoya
Media report: The likely cause of recent southeast US earthquakes.
The southeastern part of the United States should not encounter too many seismic activities because
it is located in the interior of the North American Plate, a good distance away from plate boundaries
where earthquakes mostly occur. However the southeast have seen some seismic, the latest was the
2011 magnitude 5.8 earthquake at Virginia.
Scientists recently reported in a new study a likely explanation for this unexpected incident, some
tiny pieces of the mantle under the region have been breaking off and moving deep down into the
Earth. Thereby weakening the remaining plates and making it more prone to slipping that causes
earthquakes. Most study authors have concluded that this process is ongoing and very likely ...

Earthquakes does not often occur in the middle of plates, however they do happen when old faults
or rifts far below the surface reactivate. These areas are weak compared to the surrounding plate,
and can slip easily and cause earthquake.
A CAT scan of the Earth
To find out what had been happening below the surface, researchers created 3D images of the
mantle portion of the North American Plate. Seismologists image the internal part of the Earth by
tracing the paths of seismic waves created by earthquakes as they move through the ground. The
waves move faster through colder rocks and less quickly through warmer rocks. Rocks cool and
harden as they become older, so the faster seismic waves, the older the rock.
The researchers used tremors created by earthquakes a little more than 2,000 miles away to create
a 3D map of the mantle. They discovered that plate thickness in the southeast U.S. is uneven, they
saw thick areas of dense, aged rock stretching down and thin areas of less dense, younger

involves Phase I, II, and III trials. Two of which, are double blinded placebo controlled trials.
Influenzaadapts, and mutates such that is never the same from year to year, and therefore
making the double blinded placebo controlled trials very difficult to accomplish before the
vaccine is needed to be released to the public. This causes an ethical predicament in which there
is a trade off between waiting to project which viruses will be prevalent in the upcoming year,
and beginning deciding on the projected viruses earlier in order to conduct the efficacy testing.
In this paper we review the science and history of influenza as well as the science, history and
development of the influenza vaccines. We then discuss the stringent process required by law in
order to test vaccines before they reach the population. We look at the efficacy studies conducted
by the CDC, and conflicting views of geneticists highly involved in vaccine safety. Finally, we
present an overall assessment of the efficacy of the influenza vaccine, and leave to the reader, the
level of efficacy the influenza vaccine has actually achieved.

Archetypes Of The Odyssey
Archetypes of The Odyssey
Ancient Greece was full of mystery. They told of mystical, almost supernatural, heroes and
monsters. One such story was told of a warrior named Odysseus. A king who ruled over the
kingdom of Ithaca, but sadly left for war, leaving both his family, and his kingdom. Fighting for
almost a decade, Odysseus set off on a long journey towards home. Through thick and thin, and
through all of the bloodshed and fighting, he finally has a happy ending at home. At what cost
though? His men, his ship, himself? Odysseus was put into the category of a hero, one of the many
archetypes modern readers use to identify main characters and all other concepts in literature. All

encountered by Odysseus exemplify the extremes of his trial (Richardson pg. 1). He understands
that he could die during his travel towards home. During the Scylla encounter, he could ve easily
been one of the six that died being consumed by Scylla. Odysseus views his potential death to be
the greatest testament to his dedication to his cause. The Odyssey is well know throughout the

everyone has heard of Homer s legendary, greek epic poem The Odyssey. Many people study for

War Of A Reasonable Patriotism, By George Kateb, And...
A person has absolutely no choice in what country he or she is born in, yet it is commonly assumed
for one to be proud of that meaningless country, then openly criticized when the expectation is not
met. This sense of superiority over other countries, full of human beings with feelings and desires
who are no different than another s, is nothing more than a division of geographical birth places.
Ultimately, patriotismcauses arbitrary detachments between human beings for illogical reasons. It
is fueled by reactionary emotions rather than reason, and although it begins with good intentions, it
can also escalate to catastrophic levels.
To understand the role of patriotism in the modern day, it is helpful to discuss the following
articles: On Patriotism, by George Kateb; In Defense of a Reasonable Patriotism, by William
Galston; and American Patriotism is Unique, by Richard Morris. All three seek to guide readers
toward their own educated opinions regarding the topic, whether that is appreciation or scorn. In
George Kateb s article, he focuses on the philosophical history behind patriotism and refutes
arguments that are in support of it. He likens the love of country to the love one has for his or her
parents, and asserts that this comparison can lead to an exploitable mental confusion (Kateb). Kateb
also covers the ideas of Socrates and Rousseau, who believed that people owe their existence to the
state, and points out the inconsistencies in their theories. He continues the

Common Themes In Paul s Case
Paul s Unexpected Consequences After reading Paul s Case which was written by Willa Cather
and its movie, which was directed by Lamont Johnson, there was a common theme between both
the movie and the book. This common theme dealt with wealth and how it affected our main
character, Paul. It affected him in unexpected ways. These ways were both positive and negative
and even had a long termeffect on him. The common theme was how the pursuit of wealth can
have unexpected consequences that are both positive, negative and could even last a lifetime.
While Paul was seeking wealth either through his part time job at the theater as an usher or by
taking his father s check it led to an unexpectedly positive outcome. This was that Paul had a...

This quote allows the reader to see that Paul s new life was quickly coming to an end and that he
was going to be forced to go back to his normal life if he was not able to come up with a plan
quickly. The possibility of having to go back to live with his father in his normal life may have
clouded Paul s idea of reality. Even though Paul unexpectedly experienced both positive and
negative consequences on his quest for wealth, he also experienced a long term effect when he
decided to take his own life. Paul made his decision when he realized that he didn t want to have
to go back living in his small town and having to work at the theater. The idea of Paul ending his
life was first brought to the viewer s attention when the camera zoomed into Paul s bag as he got
off the train. The bag is left on the train which made the viewer start to wonder why Paul is
leaving it.It now causes the viewer to question what is going through Paul s mind and it also
builds suspense. Another prime example that helped drive home the idea that Paul was about the

Huckleberry Finn Ending
Many critics argue that the ending to Huckleberry Finn is poor because it shows a regression of
Huck s character that negates much of the growth Huck experiences throughout his journey down
the Mississippi River and changes the novel s focal point onto Tom rather than Huck. Tom Quirk,
author of articles on American literature and specifically many studies of Mark Twain, states that
the ending of the novel essentially disregarded whatever moral growth and social seriousness the
narrative had acquired in favor of rather trivial burlesque on the grounds that there was a certain
consistency and aptness to the gesture. Huck s journey down the Mississippi serves as a coming of
age story in that Huck learns to follow his own conscious and determine

Essay on The Life of Walt Disney
It all started in 1923 when a young man started off with one idea that lead to bigger and better ideas
as time went on. Walt Disney imagined what people thought to be the impossible and created a
Disney empire that was made up of cartoons, movies, amusement parks, and much more
entertainment. To think if Walt Disneynever shared his visions with the world, there would be no
animation, amusement parks, Mickey Mouse, or any classic Disney movies like Snow White, Mary
Poppins, or Beauty and the Beast. Also, children wouldn t have gotten to experience walking
through Cinderella s Castle into Magic Kingdom, a child s oasis. Although Walt Disney is no

What also made Mickey Mouse very popular was that Walt Disney himself provided the voice of
Mickey until 1947. On February 23rd, 1935 the very first in color Mickey Mouse cartoon was
released. Then later in 1937, Disney Brothers Studios took a big step by creating Snow White
and the Seven Dwarfs. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the very first animated feature
film with sound and color. Disney Brothers Studio made 8 million dollars off of the release of
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. After completing this movie entirely, Disney Brothers Studio
packed up their things on December 26th, 1939 and moved to Burbank, California from
Hyperion Studio in Los Angeles. Once settled into Burbank, California, Disney Brothers Studio
started to begin a brand new project that would put them over the top. After working diligently

The Incident Of The Fort Hood Shooting
On November 5, 2009, the public gained knowledge about an incident that took place at an U.S.
Army installation. Maj. Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, fatally shot 13 people and injured
more than 30 others. He was facing a deployment to one of the many war zones overseas
(McFadden, 2009). There are many reports about this incident and what actually took place.
From what I ve gathered, Hasan went into a processing center where soldiers go before and after
they come back from deployment. After Hasan s shooting rampage, he was finally stopped when
Army Military Police (MP) officers shot him a total of four times. He is now paralyzed from the
waist down due to the shooting. The Fort Hood shootingmarked the worst shooting ever to take
place on a military installation state side, to record. There was almost no structural damage because
he used hand guns instead of bombs, or what we call weapons of mass destruction.
This attack is classified as a terrorist attack simply because of what the intention was at the
beginning. In my own words, terrorist(s) is someone or groups that have different beliefs and
want to force their belief onto you by any means necessary, which may include killing if one doesn
t comply. The local, state, and federal, as well as military, officers communicated well with each
other and responded to the shooting in record breaking time. All of the injured personnel were
transported to four different hospitals, to include the base hospital as well.

I See The Ever Approaching Thunder, By Anne Frank
I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder,
which will destroy us too, I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the
heavens, I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too will end, and the peace and
tranquility will return again (Frank 276 277). What kind of girl would be able to say such a
beautiful statement with the possibility of death looming? Anne Frankcould view the world in a
way that is becoming near impossible positively. She was a teenage Jewish girl who lived in
Amsterdam, Holland during World War II. She and her family went into hiding in 1942 and
were soon joined by the Van Pelses (Enzer and Solotaroff Enzer, eds. xxiii). While she was in the
attic, she wrote her diary, which would eventually become a famous historical document. She
recorded her grumblings about her attic mates behaviors and her feelings about herself and the
Van Pelses boy. Through the two year period she was in the attic, she wrote surprisingly
philosophical observations of the world, and she also learned a vast amount of information about
herself. After her death, her father published the diary, and Anne Frank quickly became a name that
everyone knew. Although Anne s time on Earth was brief and short lived, her legacy has inspired
many through her well written diary. Annelies Marie Frank was born on June 12, 1929 at 7:30

Disruptions In Schools
The United States is known as the land of the free because it grants its citizens the right to be
protected by the law. Unless they are being used unconstitutionally, their right to freedom of speech
cannot be violated. As citizens, students obtain these same rights. For example, religious tolerance
in schools assures that they are not treated unfairly. Students under suspicion are searched to insure
safety in the school and to secure peace among their students and staff. Disruptions in schools are
usually caused by students actions that affect their peers ability to learn. This makes it a goal for
public schools to maintain an educational and safe environment. However, human rights of students

Examples Of Situational Irony In The Ransom Of The Red Chief
In O. Henry s story, The Ransom of the Red Chief, eight distinct examples of irony are present
throughout the entire selection. O. Henry writes with both situational and verbal irony, which
results in a comedic account of a rowdy boy s kidnapping. Situational irony involves an event in
which actions have an effect that is opposite from what was intended. Verbal ironyis when the
intended meaning of a statement differs from the meaning that the words appear to express.
There are three examples of verbal irony and five examples of situational irony in The Ransom of
the Red Chief. The first example of verbal irony is in the beginning of the story. There was a town
down there, as flat as a flannel cake, and called Summit, of course. The irony is that a town that was
flat was named Summit, which would have the reader think the town was high.... Show more

the wolves have home away the tender lambkin from the fold. Heaven help the wolves! says I,

An evaluation of Mrs Smith circulation was the next step carried out by the nurse, as in the
breathing assessment Mrs Smith pallor was noted as being flushed and the patient appeared
confused this could be associated with poor cardiac output. The nurse recorded the patient s

Executive Summary This paper reviews the mechanical behavior of geopolymers after exposing to
high temperatures. The review begins with a brief overview of geopolymers and examines the
extant literature on the mechanical behavior of geopolymers after exposing to high temperatures by
artificial intelligent techniques. The final and compressive strength of geopolymers is also
discussed. Finally, this review examines studies on genetic programming as a technique of
modeling the performance of materials and in particular, geopolymers. This paper focuses on the
general and specific aspects of genetic programming on geopolymers, and summarizes its
importance. Further, this review features genetic programming as applicable to geopolymers as a
method of predicting the effect of temperature on their mechanical behavior. From the review, it
emerges that geopolymers that resist the action of loads that tend to reduce their sizes, exhibit high
compressive strength.

Application Of Concept Analysis For Clinical Practice
Application of concept analysis to clinical practice
The concept has been defined as symbolic statement describing a phenomena or class of
phenomena (Kim, 2000,p.15). It can be theoretical or non theoretical like hope, love and desire or
body temperature, pain (McEwen Willis, 2011) the words like grief, empathy, power, job
satisfaction or a phrase like health promoting behaviors or maternal attachment. Concept analysis
mentions to the laborious process of bringing clarity to the definition of the concept used in science
(McEwen Willis, p, 51). According to McEwen (2011), the purpose of the concept analysis is to
clarify, recognize, and define concepts that describe phenomena.
Method of analysis
There are several methods of analyzing the concepts. The purpose of concept analysis is to help the
nurses to identify the trends and development in patient care. In depth analysis of these trends and
developments helps to formulate measures to provide holistic patient care ( Grand canyon
university 2013). Walker and Avant introduced the process of concept analysis in nursing in
1983.Walker and Avant (2005). They are concept analysis; concept synthesis and concept derivation

The Paint-Personal Narrative
When I was about 10 years old, I like to play many sports, ranging from basketball to soccer. What
I didn t know was that I was going to start participating in another sport .
In January of 2013, my dad said that we were going to get some paint. Inside the hot, non air

The Meditations By Marcus Aurelius
The universe has a plan for all of us, and we need to follow it. When you asked me what book we

Forgetting past troubles and current issues will help our employees to work hard at what they

Social Order And Its Effect On Society
Every day social order is taken for granted. Social order is related to social realities, which are
shared expectations about a chain of events, the types of people involved and associated
behaviors and feelings (O Brien, 2011). It is not until someone violates these realities and
interactional routines that they recognize the difference and become aware. For this reason,
during the 1950s, Harold Garfinkel developed the breaching experiment; a breaching experiment
is an activity used in social science to breach or violate common, taken for granted understandings
and practices of everyday life in order to better understand it. This showed that reality
maintenance requires a lot of interactional work. The objective of a breaching experiment is to
disrupt normal procedures so that the process by which everyday life is constructed or
reconstructed can be observed and studied. An example of one of the breaching experiments
Garfinkel did, was when he asked students to spend time in their homes acting like boarders asking
permission, being polite and formal, etc. The results concluded that students reported family
members who expressed shock, anxiety, embarrassment and anger towards their behaviors. Some of
the implications of this is that it is important that people act in accord with commonsense
assumptions with how they are supposed to behave. Therefore, we are all participants in the
construction and maintenance of everyday cultural realities (O Brien, p. 343 348, 2011).

Difference Between Social And Social Psychology
Social Psychology and Multicultural Psychology Paper
i.Define social psychology.
Social psychology is the science that aims to determine how people think about, relate to, feel
about, and influence one another. Social psychology is a branch of study on social influence, how
individuals have an influence on one another. Social influence is noted to affect trivial behaviours,
such as making paper airplanes in class, as well as important behaviour, such as giving in to
majority opinion over one s judgement. It is an attempt to understand and lay down how thought,
behaviour, feeling of a person is affected by the actual, implied, imagined, presence of other people.
For example, the social influence of social psychology can be demonstrated with an instance
involving Kim, ken, and their friend s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a person bending to the majority people s decision over one s judgment on an issue
is a social influence by the presence of others. Second, the phrase actual presence of others implies
a physical appearance in the place to influence thought or feelings. Imagined presence makes
people regulate their behaviour according to the reactions that they imagine people will give about
the behaviour. The implied presence is demonstrated by the people automatically obeying social
artefacts, such as streetlights, or other objects such as a black, may imply the presence of a person.
ii.Describe the primary research strategies used in social psychology and give an example of each.
There are three different types of primary research strategies that can be used with social
psychology. They are descriptive, experimental, and correlation research methods. The research
methods differ in the kind of hypothesis each investigates, and the issues it raise.

Internal and External Factors on Management
Internal and External Factors on Management Functions MGT/230 Internal and External Factors on
Management Functions The four functions of management are generally described in this order; 1.
Planning 2. Organizing 3. Leading 4. Controlling These functions are affected by factors from
inside an organization as well as outside of the organization (Bateman, 2011). Some of these
external factors include globalization, competitors, suppliers, technology, customers, the
government, and economic conditions. Factors inside a company can be production issues,
personnel problems, finances, ethics, lack of innovation, and cultural diversity can be either
internal or external (Bateman, 2011). The corporate model that Google has... Show more content on

Their innovation of a collection of information to be accessed in a one stop shop format was the
catalyst to what we know as Google today. The search engine was first used to search
information on the Stanford Universities servers. The engines worked so well that it soon
engulfed the bandwidth of the universities servers. The founders knew that they had something
amazing on their hands. The innovation that compelled them to create this engine would need
to expand. Google needed to implement a new organization of technology to ensure the growth
of the company. The acquisition of seed money catapulted them to becoming an important
fixture of the dot com boom. In the respect of Google the newly designed technology made it
much easier and made sense that the best way to grow would to become global. The
globalization occurred 2000 when they released the ability to search in ten other languages
making Google a common word in many other countries besides the U.S. The rate of growth
Google experienced is truly astonishing. Google went from an eight employee firm in 1999 to
well over a 1000 employees today. An example of the well managed leadership from the company
is the way they have so intuitively diversified. This company dealt with only internet searches, and
now makes software for cell phones, software for Mac and pc s, sets up domain names, leads the

Total Serum Protein Determination Lab Report
Introduction
Total serum protein determination is a standard clinical test that is often used for the diagnosis of
diseases involving the kidneys, liver or bone marrow and other metabolic or nutritional disorders1.
Blood plasma contains approximately 7% proteins by weight and the fluid that remains after the
clotting factors are removed from the plasma is the serum2. Albumin and globulin are the most
common blood proteins, and the total protein is the combined measure of the two3. The most
abundant protein is albumin, which acts as a carrier of many different molecules in the blood and
helps maintain blood volume2. The globulin proteins include many enzymes and elements of the
immune system such as antibodies and immunoglobulins2. Changes in ... Show more content on

This method is a chromogenic test that uses biuret reagent to detect the presence of peptide bonds
in blood serum12. The active ingredients in the reagent are sodium hydroxide, potassium sodium
tartrate and copper sulphate pentahydrate13. The development of a violet colour after incubation at
room temperature is indicative of the presence of proteins and peptides in the blood serum12. A
coloured coordination complex forms when the copper ions (Cu2+) binds to the deprotonated
nitrogen atoms that form the peptide bonds of the amino acids12. Reactions can also occur between
Cu2+ and the nitrogen in the amide groups and the imidazole rings12. The colour intensifies after a
period of incubation as the alkalinity of the solution increases and more deprotonated nitrogen
atoms become available12. The concentration of the protein and the colour intensity are
proportional, thereby exhibiting a linear relationship in accordance with the Beer Lambert law14.

Conrail Case
1
The Acquisition of Consolidated Rail Corporation
1. CSX wanted to merge with Conrail, because the consolidated company would have more than
$8.5 billion in rail revenue and almost 70 % of the Eastern market. Gain in Operating Income
from Cost Reduction would bring additional $370 million by the year 2000. Total gain from
revenue increase would result in additional $180 million. And from the operating income would
reach $550 million. Another important point in CSX Conrail merger is the better competitive
position in both long haul and short haul routes through cost reduction. The last reason for buying
the Conrail was the fear of CSX Company to lose competitive advantage and as a result to lose a
lot of revenue, if Conrail merge with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, the most important reason for Norfolk Southern to make this bid was a desire to survive, it is
like survival insurance. 5. In order to determine this value, we should take two aspects into
consideration. Firstly, CSX was the first bidder, which implies that Norfolk Southern s offer is a
reaction to that of CSX. Norfolk Southern hostile bid of $100 per share represented a 14.1%
premium over CSXs blended offer of $89.07. But if we look at the next reaction of Norfolk
Southern, this offer did not create the reaction Norfolk Southern was hoping for, since after the
new amendment made by CSX of $110 per Conrail share, Norfolk Southern offered after only two
days the same value. CSX maintained its position at $110 per share for the front end until the last
day before the shareholders vote, but increased its back end position (adding $16 of new
convertible preferred stock to the back end offer) 4 days before the vote. Norfolk Southern also
increased its offer to $115 per share.
3
At the beginning the offer was a reaction to the CSX bid; then other factors came into play, such as
time, the time span until the vote of the shareholders, the legal procedure (since the judge ruled
against Norfolk Southern). Secondly, the outcome of this process will determine the future
development of the companies involved. The merged companies, the winners, will survive, whereas
the loser will disappear from the market. Based on this fact we might assume that each

Sammy Sosa
Samuel Sosa Montero (born November 12, 1968 in San Pedro de MacorГs, Dominican Republic)
is a designated hitter and right fielder in Major League Baseball and is currently a free agent.
Sosa s Major League career began when he broke in with the Texas Rangers in 1989. In the
intervening years, he has played for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs and Baltimore
Orioles.[1] He ended the 2005 season with 588 career home runs, placing him fifth on the all time
home run list. In early 2007, however, he signed with the Rangers in a comeback attempt and made
the team as its designated hitter. While playing for the Rangers on June 20th, 2007 against the
Cubs, his former team, Sosa hit his 600th home run, becoming the 5th player in professional ...

He also surpassed his 1998 numbers in total bases, compiling 425. Sosa once again led the
league in home runs with 49 in 2002. Known as a free swinger in his early years, and as an easy
strikeout candidate, Sosa became an effective hitter for average. He owns numerous team records
for the Cubs, and holds the major league record for the most home runs hit in a month (20, in
June 1998). In recognition of his accomplishments as a hitter, Sosa won Silver Slugger awards (an
award for offensive output voted on by managers and coaches) in 1995 and 1998 2002.[1]
In 2003 the Cubs won the National League Central Division title. The year was not all good news
for Sosa, however. In May, he spent his first time on the disabled list since 1996 after having a
toenail removed. Sosa finished the season with 40 home runs and hit two more in the NLCS
against the Florida Marlins.
In May 2004, Sosa suffered a freak injury. While sitting next to his locker chatting with reporters
before a game in San Diego s PETCO Park, he sneezed violently, causing severe back pain. He was
diagnosed with back spasms and placed on the disabled list. Later, he fell into one of the worst
slumps of his career, only snapping out of it in the last week of the season. He finished with 35
homers, far below his numbers of his best years.
Many noted that Sosa s production went into a tailspin immediately after he was hit

Compare And Contrast Byronic Heros From Hamlet
A Byronic hero is an antihero of the highest order. In the seventeenth century, William Shakespeare
wrote the play Hamlet. Four centuries later, the television show Breaking Bad aired. Even though
these two pieces of media were written hundreds of years apart they still shared something in
common: their main characters were Byronic heroes. Hamletfrom Hamlet and Walter White from
Breaking Bad display the characteristics of an ultimate antihero. They are Byronic heroes because
each has a troubled backstory, each is an anti hero, both are criminals, have high intelligence and
useful skills, and have deep rooted psychological and emotional issues. Each character had to
experience their own trauma to which led them to become the Byronic heroes that they are.
Hamlet s father, King Hamlet, was murdered by his uncle, Claudius, in cold blood. While still in
grief, his mother married Claudius no less than two months after the King s passing. Walter
White is fifty year old man who is an overqualified chemistry teacher who has to watch the world
pass him up every day. He must also humiliatingly work at a car wash to make extra money to
provide for his pregnant wife and his sixteen year old son who has been diagnosed with cerebral
palsy. Decades ago he started a multi billion company but sold his share early in the business for a
mere five thousand dollars. Then to make it all worse, Walter White was diagnosed with terminal
lung cancer on his fiftieth birthday. Byronic heroes

Russia s Information War Against The Ultra Conservative...
By John Foley, US Army, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired)
Russia is engaging the United States in an information war designed to fracture the US along ethnic
and racial lines. They are targeting the ultra conservative population of the United States with a
covert information campaign. The goal is to influence and persuade ultra conservatives that the US
Government is illegitimate and needs to oppose it by force of arms. This article lays out Russia s
information war influencing the ultra conservative population.
The recent Russian hacking of the Democratic National Committee s computers servers has
highlighted Russia s nefarious information war against the US. In recent years Russia developed a
highly capable method of waging information warfare and they are now aggressively targeting the
US. The Russian strategy has focused on digitally infiltrating and influencing through social media
the conservative movement in the United States in order to make it hostile to its own government.
Russia s information war may appear a nuisance to our national defense, but I argue this is an
existential threat facing the US far greater than ISIS, ballistic missiles, or even the regular Russian
Armed Forces. These are still threats, but not to the degree of Russia s information war. This
information war is aimed directly at American society and is designed to destroy our society.
Russia s information war against the Ukraine and other eastern European nations is understood very

Types Of Enthalpy Changes In Chemical And Chemical Changes
Enthalpy changes in chemical and physical processes M1 and D1
By sharing electrons, atoms within a molecule that are attracted to one another is called an
intramolecular force. Between the molecules intermolecular force, the physical properties for
example the melting points and boiling points, relate to the solubility and the strength of these force.
Protons are positive components and electrons are negative components. The attractive force that
exists between the two is known as an intermolecular force due to the atoms and molecules of the
substance. Intermolecular forces have four types:
Ionic forces This is like the dipole dipole interaction but it differs slightly as ions are used as well as
polar molecules. ions are held together by electrostatic forces in ionic solids. The charges in an ion
are attracted to each other because they are opposites. This force is the strongest intermolecular
force. In a crystal lattice structure, the ion forces hold the ions together. https://www.nature.com
/articles/srep35684 Dipole Forces When a molecule has two poles they are called dipoles or polar
covalent molecules. The molecule will have a partial positive charge on one pole whilst the other
pole will have a different charge that is partially negative. Therefore, the molecules will rearrange
themselves so the charges are attracted to the opposite charge so it works.

The Omo Site Of Ethiopia, Africa
In this research paper we will be discussing the Omo site in Ethiopia, Africa. Some key points
that will be discussed will be its original discovery in 1967, it s addition research that was
completed in 2005, Omo I and II s updated age (McDougall et al., 2005), and the scientific
importance of the discoveries from this site and what it means for idea of the first appearance of the
modern human(Fleagle et al., 2008).
In 1967 in the Lower Omo Valley near Kibish, Ethiopia along the Omo river, a team from the
Kenya National Museums, led by Richard Leakey an anthropologist and conservationist, did an
initial exploration which led to the discovery of several stone tools, hominin fossils, and various
other skull fossils of mammals. In this expedition the team found parts of what would be known
as Omo I and Omo II. The finds for Omo I comprised of the mandible, dentition, several parts of
the cranium, and a considerable portion of the post cranial skeleton. Omo I s finds has been
described as being a modern skeleton of Homo sapiens. Omo II comprised of an almost intact
neurocranium, which has been described as primitive remains most closely resembling Homo
erectus (Fleagle et al. 2008). At that time in 1967, researches faced a difficult time establishing an
accurate age of these remains due in part to the confines of technology. The team at this time
decided to use a rather controversial method that looked at radiometric dates on shells from a Nile
oyster (Etheria elliptica) bank

Nike Case Analysis
At the moment Nike has the upper hand over other corporations allowing for significant economic
advancements. Conversely, it is important that Nike does not only use these initiatives as
advertising ploys but rather actually continues to make real change around the world. There is a
significant amount of opportunity here for Nike to pressure other corporations and even
governments into acting against climate change and towards better social conditions (JASP, 2016).
Nevertheless, because of how much global influence Nike hold, they have the potential to do much
more than that. The corporationcould work with various organizations, academic programs and
NGOs in order to do more research into what the most ideal conditions are and what kinds of needs
need to be addressed to better the overall social, economic and environmental conditions in which
the production processes is occurring (JASP, 2016). Furthermore, while Nike was inspired by ethnic
consumers, so can it promote ethnic consumption to those who might not have originally
considered these issues whilst purchasing these or even other commodities (JASP, 2016). The fear
at the moment, however, is that Nike is only in it for the money. During the boycott of the 1990s,
Nike could have avoided the crisis through acting sooner and recognizing the inequalities in their
corporation though they chose instead to ignore their demands (Jackson and Schantz, 1993, 32). In
fact, it was not until years later, when the longevity of the

areas that one can be involved in: fund the cure, build the fun, and bring the people. Last school
year, I was a part of fund the cure last year. My job was to ask for donations and sponsorships
from local businesses in the Spokane area. During last year s Relay for Life, I spoke about my
own personal experience with my brother having cancer at our luminaria ceremony, a ceremony
dedicated to people sharing their own personal cancer experiences. This year I am a part of build

the luminaria which I plan to speak at again. The bring the people sector oversees recruiting
people to create teams and raise money for our event. All the money and donations from Relay for

patients and their families. The final activity that I am majorly involved in is chemistry tutoring.
Last semester, I was a general chemistry tutor, and this semester I tutor organic chemistry. As part of
both jobs, I would attend a lecture section and take the tests and quizzes to test my chemistry
knowledge. I would also hold office hours where I would tutor students. The tutoring is very
rewarding because it expands my understanding of chemistry as well as the student s understanding.

Compare And Contrast The Chesapeake And New England Colonies
When comparing and contrasting the Chesapeake and New England colonies you find that there
are many differences and a few similarities. These differences and similarities revolve around the
colonies geography, economic characteristics, religious characteristics, and why they were
founded. These differences developed in the colonies based off where they are, how they were ran,
and how wealthy they were. The development of these colonies also affected the American Indians
in a few different ways. Let start by comparing major differenceof the geography between
Chesapeake and New Englandcolonies. New England colonies had cold weather and poor dry soil
which made for a short growing season. This made it harder to grow food so most families just
had a small farm for personal gain, there weren t plantations. The New England colonies also had
natural harbors and a lot of the land was covered in forests. In contrast to the New England colonies
the Chesapeake colonies has hot humid weather, with long growing seasons, and excellent soil that
was great for plantationand along with rivers that flowed throughout the colonies. Now let s take a
look at the differences in the economical characteristics between the colonies. In New England
because of their geographical conditions they couldn t grow crops in large plantation to make
profits so they had to rely on other means to make income. Since the land was covered in forests
they use the timber to expand the shipbuilding industries. They

  • 3. The Work Of Nina Simone Nina Simone was born Eunice Kathleen Waymon, February 21, 1933 in North Carolina. The sixth of eight children, she began playing the piano at the age of three and showed extreme talent for classical music. Due to the poverty of her family, her mother worked as a maid. Nina showed her talent to her mother s employer, who recognized her great ability and started a fund to pay for Nina s piano lessons and early education. When she was twelve she performed a classical piano recital. Her parents had taken two front seats to proudly watch their daughter, but were forced to move to the back row in favor of the white attendants of the concert. Nina refused to play a single note until her parents regained their seats. She later cited this incident as one of the main reasons she became a Civil Rights activist. After high school, she was given a partial scholarship to Julliard School in New York City. She left Julliard, due to lack of funds, began to play jazz and blues, and made ends meet playing in night clubs. Shortly after, she took on the stage name Nina Simone. She was able to release her first album, Little Blue Girl , in 1958. With this album she was able to gain influential African Americans, like Langston Hughes and James Baldwin, as fans of her work. Civil Rights Songstress: Mississpi Goddam In the 1960s Nina Simone was known as the leading voice, or musician, of the Civil Rights movement. How Did Benito Mussolini Contribute To The Rise Of Fascism Russell Ellerbrock Mr. Groh Comp II 4/17/2018 Fascism and Nazism Rise During World War Two, the Axis powers were ran by two different kinds of government ideas. In Germany the government was Nazism raised by their leader Adolf Hitler. In Italy there was Fascism ruled by their leader Benito Mussolini. Fascism and Nazism appealed to the people because how they were living during the time the two came to power. The two main reasons that made them so appealing were the nationalistic feeling which rose in people and the feeling of a better lifestyle during economic troubles. These different strategies of government presented false promises to desperate people. Fascism was widely practiced in Italy after World War One and during World War Two. The leader credited for the idea of fascism in Italy was Benito Mussolini. • 6. Julius Caesar Quote Analysis Sanders Brutus s Thoughts The play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare is about Brutus who is convinced by Cassius that the ruler Julius Caesar is becoming too powerful for Rome s own good. Brutus and other conspirators take this potential dictator down by killing him. Rome breaks into chaos but all in all the chaos was better than having Julius Caesar as a dictator. Brutus and Bernie Sanders think alike in the way they want a fair and equal society. They both strongly want to take down the higher people in the world. While Bernie Sanders is looking to take down the 1% and Wall St Brutus is looking to take down Caeser. Both of them in all want to help the common folk and plebeians of their country. This quote shows how easily the crowd is swayed and how quickly they can move on. Bernie Sanders gets affected by this except he isn t against Anthony but he is against Hillary Clinton. we should level with the American people, said Hillary Clinton in a 2016 Democratic debate. Hillary is acting as if Bernie Sanders is not telling the truth and is trying to lie to the citizens of The United States of America. Anthony also does the same tactic of making the crowd doubt Brutus s words. Voters are most likely to trust Clinton states a poll by a magazine called The Week. This shows how the wicked ways of Hillary are working just as how they worked against Bernie Sanders. Trust is what everyone wants from a candidate and Hillary is getting just that. • 7. Gender Roles Of Men And Women Roles of Males and Females in Different Television Programs Americans watch an alarming amount of television starting from a young age. The average American watches five hours of television a day (Koblin 2016). This enormous amount of media input influences perceptions and is connected to cementing many things in people, such as gender roles. Gender roles are thoughts, actions, and feelings learned by a person fitting their gender due to cultural norms (Santrock 2016). Additionally, stereotypes appeal to people s emotions and television shows are infamous for relying on them due to lack of time for character development (Signorielli 2001). Different television show categories reflect roles and representations of males and females in both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also parallels the Signorielli article s findings that children s shows fare better than cartoons but still convey a noticeably uneven representation (Signorielli 2001). Also in congruence with the Signorielli article, situational comedies score the best in equal representation (Signorielli 2001). In my findings, Friends was the only show to have true equal representation and the other situational comedy viewed, Seinfeld, has more main male characters but there is an overall greater flexibility in gender roles. Notably, it is easier to include females in situational comedies to create more humor due to the stereotyped emotions and victim role that provides comical plots. Female and Male Stereotypes The issue of the underrepresentation of females is further worsened in the television shows through the gender stereotypes. Women are viewed as more youthful, domestic, emotional, affectionate, and more emphasis is placed on beauty (Signorielli 2001). In Seinfeld, the only major female character, Elaine, is seen as helpless, emotional, and nagging. In the episode, The Little Kicks , although her profession of lead editor is non traditional, female stereotypes are implemented by her feeling lost and going insane from her staff acting differently towards her because she had embarrassing dance moves at the company party (Feresten Ackerman ... • 8. Microsoft Essay Microsoft There have been many arguments and issues that have been raised with the controversy over Microsoft and the U.S. Department of Justice s claim against Microsoft and its founder Bill Gates of monopolistic practices in bundling its internet browser Internet Explorer into its popular Windows computer operating system. By doing this, Microsoft would effectively crush its competitors (it s main rival being Netscape Navigator), and acquire a monopoly over the software that people use to access the Internet. I recently heard a listener on NPR (National Public Radio) comment about the monopoly issue between Microsoft and the U.S. D.O.J. that Intellectual endeavors are vastly infinite and thus cannot be monopolized. I wonder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many corridors and keys that allow someone to gain access to the Internet. The real question here is whether Microsoft is seeking to widen it s doors at the expense of others and at the same time seeking gatekeeper access to the Internet by seeking to obtain the only key that allows access to the Internet. A metaphor of this problem can be explained through a library building that has many entrances in which to reach the knowledge of books contained within. Is Microsoft seeking to close off the other entrances of other providers so that the only access is through its entrance? It would be very tempting to say yes, but that would be wholly unfair. Now that the problem and issue which is presented to us is clear, an examination of whether or not Microsoft is violating any anti trust (anti monopolistic) laws can now proceed. Before he installed Windows 95, John Dodge connected to the Internet using software from a Microsoft competitor, CompuServe s Internet in a Box. Not anymore. Windows 95 silently disabled a key piece of his setup and made it too difficult for him to reinstall it. Dodge was not a novice. Even software professionals learn to take the path of least resistance, in this case, the path leading to Microsoft. He has become a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Comparing Beowulf, Grendel s Mother And Hildeburth In the epic of Beowulf, written by an anonymous Anglo Saxon poet, there are three women that have pivotal roles, Wealhtheow, Grendel s Mother and Hildeburth. Throughout the epic, we see each of these women characters play specific roles that are important to the society they are living in. The epic would not be the same if each womandidn t play their significant part. Each woman plays an important role either in the mead hall, in the home or in battle. Each of these woman makes for a successful storyline that goes together flawlessly and makes for a poem that has been read for centuries and will continue to be read in years to come. Wealhtheow is the Queen of the Spear Danes and wife of King Hrothgar. She only appears for a short time in the story, but when she does she is in charge of carrying a goblet of mead around for the warriors to eat. When her husband passes away, she is nervous about the fate of the Danish Kingdom. She makes a long speech directed towards Beowulfthat she needs to defend her son s rights to the throne. Beowulf shows his heroic and humble quality here by not taking the throne himself and giving it to who is next in line. Grendel s mother, who is only referred to as this, is known to be just as massive and monster like as her son. Throughout the story she is trying to protect her son against death and in doing so she attacks HeorotHall. • 13. The Filoviridae Family Corresponds To The Order Of... The filoviridae family corresponds to the order of Mononegavirales. This growing family of pathogens are filamentous, enveloped viruses with a genome that is negative stranded RNA (1 2). This family is known to be one of the most pathogenic viruses affecting humans and is mostly found in bats (their main reservoirs) (3 4). It is believed that these viruses are transmitted from person to person through body fluids or through objects that have been previously contaminated with body fluids (5). After transmission and incubation period (three to 21 days), the initial symptoms are headache, fever, vomiting and diarrhea. After, the virusmay cause viraemia, coagulopathy, haermoorhagic fever and liver/ multi organ failure; which in many cases... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The envelopes of EBOV and MARV are composed of glycoproteins (GP). GP are essential for the entry of the viruses into the host cell by attaching to its cell surface (10). GP is a homotrimer of GP1 (membrane protein) GP2 (transmembrane protein) heterodimer linked by disulfide bonds (11 12). The mechanism on how GP1 and GP2 drive the introduction of the virus into the host cell is not well understood yet (7). However, it is known that is characterized by three steps: attachment, uptake, and membrane fusion (7). GP1 is involved in adhesion of the receptor with the host cell surface, whereas GP2 is involved in the virus host cell membrane fusion and entry (13). In most cases GP1 is believed to bind to different glycosaminoglycans (GAG) from the host cell i.e. heparin sulfate, to be able to efficiently enter the host cell (2). GAGs are negative, unbranched polysaccharides found in mostly all cells surfaces but differ in composition between species (4). It is believed that GAGs are not the only possible way of attachment for filoviruses to the host surface, meaning that there are other host factors that aid in viral entry (2). After attachment, virions get into the host cell through micropinocytosis followed by endosome trafficking which leads to membrane fusion (7). A low pH due to the endosomal events is what leads to the initiation of membrane fusion (7). G protein coupled receptors (GPCR) are the biggest and most diverse family of protein in ... America is an improbable idea that thrives due to determined leaders venturing for unity and stepping into a position of responsibility that entails making and executing tough decisions. Respected leaders are a principal technique used in uniting a nation such as the United States. Abraham Lincoln and George Washington are respected leaders featured in the works that described their aims to unite the nation. Abraham Lincoln illustrated how he was extremely devoted ... to saving the union and that is the dominant rationale for him becoming president for the second time (Lincoln 13). Pathos were inscribed within his speech to prove that he had a goal and he was determined to achieve it. Embedded in Lincoln s inaugural address, was the idea that the citizens of the United States and himself did not want a lasting war and tried to persuade them to cease fighting and unite. Accordingly, one of the most integral leaders in American history was Abraham Lincoln who is remembered for being the 16th president and very respected. During the civil war, Lincoln was in office and he delivered his second inaugural address about ending the war and rebuilding the union because America is stronger united than divided. Through Lincoln s presidency, he brought about the start of the end of the civil war and was making progress before his assassination. Leutze s painting demonstrates Washington his followers going into battle together to fight as one powerful team. Leutze portrayed Washington in a boat at the front of the pack to demonstrate how he was a leader and how his followers united under him to go into battle together (Leutze 11). As a respected leader, people listen to your plans and the soldiers believed in Washington to do what s best for the nation. Washington was a leader and therefore everyone followed him in reaching for the same goal of defeating the British. As the citizens united and lined the Delaware behind Washington it became evident that Washington could unite America. There is no such thing as a typical student with a learning disability This represents to me how diverse and complex those individuals with learning disabilities can be in their capabilities and in the ways that they need support. They can have a learning disability that affects their academic achievement and memory, along with how they process information, and so much more. One student could have a learning disability that affects their achievement with mathematics but not their reading or language abilities, and vice versa. Short term, long term, and working memory can also be affected to varying degrees, and this will be different from student to student. One thing that is typical of students with learning disabilities is that they would probably have average to above average intelligence. However, their academic achievement often shows a deficit of a lower level of intelligence, depending on where their difficulties or challenges are within academics. Emotionally and socially, students will also range in their abilities to make and keep friends, might have classroom behavior problems, might have anxiety, but also might have no social and emotional struggles at all. To me, it depends greatly on the support that they receive at home starting out and within the school while they are learning. The more we support these students the less likely they will be to have as many social and emotional issues, along with grow and develop academic skills while being held to ... • 20. The Science And History And Development Of The Influenza... Introduction Influenza vaccines, also known as flu shots, are vaccines that claim to protect against influenza. The extent to which the influenza vaccine reduces the risk of disease under controlled conditions is known as the vaccine s efficacy. The testing of vaccine efficacy is quite stringent and involves Phase I, II, and III trials. Two of which, are double blinded placebo controlled trials. Influenzaadapts, and mutates such that is never the same from year to year, and therefore making the double blinded placebo controlled trials very difficult to accomplish before the vaccine is needed to be released to the public. This causes an ethical predicament in which there is a trade off between waiting to project which viruses will be prevalent in the upcoming year, and beginning deciding on the projected viruses earlier in order to conduct the efficacy testing. In this paper we review the science and history of influenza as well as the science, history and development of the influenza vaccines. We then discuss the stringent process required by law in order to test vaccines before they reach the population. We look at the efficacy studies conducted by the CDC, and conflicting views of geneticists highly involved in vaccine safety. Finally, we present an overall assessment of the efficacy of the influenza vaccine, and leave to the reader, the level of efficacy the influenza vaccine has actually achieved. What is Influenza? A person has absolutely no choice in what country he or she is born in, yet it is commonly assumed for one to be proud of that meaningless country, then openly criticized when the expectation is not met. This sense of superiority over other countries, full of human beings with feelings and desires who are no different than another s, is nothing more than a division of geographical birth places. Ultimately, patriotismcauses arbitrary detachments between human beings for illogical reasons. It is fueled by reactionary emotions rather than reason, and although it begins with good intentions, it can also escalate to catastrophic levels. To understand the role of patriotism in the modern day, it is helpful to discuss the following articles: On Patriotism, by George Kateb; In Defense of a Reasonable Patriotism, by William Galston; and American Patriotism is Unique, by Richard Morris. All three seek to guide readers toward their own educated opinions regarding the topic, whether that is appreciation or scorn. In George Kateb s article, he focuses on the philosophical history behind patriotism and refutes arguments that are in support of it. He likens the love of country to the love one has for his or her parents, and asserts that this comparison can lead to an exploitable mental confusion (Kateb). The review begins with a brief overview of geopolymers and examines the extant literature on the mechanical behavior of geopolymers after exposing to high temperatures by artificial intelligent techniques. The final and compressive strength of geopolymers is also discussed. Finally, this review examines studies on genetic programming as a technique of modeling the performance of materials and in particular, geopolymers. This paper focuses on the general and specific aspects of genetic programming on geopolymers, and summarizes its importance. Further, this review features genetic programming as applicable to geopolymers as a method of predicting the effect of temperature on their mechanical behavior. From the review, it emerges that geopolymers that resist the action of loads that tend to reduce their sizes, exhibit high compressive strength. • 34. Application Of Concept Analysis For Clinical Practice Application of concept analysis to clinical practice The concept has been defined as symbolic statement describing a phenomena or class of phenomena (Kim, 2000,p.15). It can be theoretical or non theoretical like hope, love and desire or body temperature, pain (McEwen Willis, 2011) the words like grief, empathy, power, job satisfaction or a phrase like health promoting behaviors or maternal attachment. Concept analysis mentions to the laborious process of bringing clarity to the definition of the concept used in science (McEwen Willis, p, 51). According to McEwen (2011), the purpose of the concept analysis is to clarify, recognize, and define concepts that describe phenomena. Method of analysis There are several methods of analyzing the concepts. The purpose of concept analysis is to help the nurses to identify the trends and development in patient care. In depth analysis of these trends and developments helps to formulate measures to provide holistic patient care ( Grand canyon university 2013). Walker and Avant introduced the process of concept analysis in nursing in 1983.Walker and Avant (2005). They are concept analysis; concept synthesis and concept derivation explained three different processes to analyze the concept in nursing. • 41. Social Order And Its Effect On Society Every day social order is taken for granted. Social order is related to social realities, which are shared expectations about a chain of events, the types of people involved and associated behaviors and feelings (O Brien, 2011). It is not until someone violates these realities and interactional routines that they recognize the difference and become aware. For this reason, during the 1950s, Harold Garfinkel developed the breaching experiment; a breaching experiment is an activity used in social science to breach or violate common, taken for granted understandings and practices of everyday life in order to better understand it. This showed that reality maintenance requires a lot of interactional work. The objective of a breaching experiment is to disrupt normal procedures so that the process by which everyday life is constructed or reconstructed can be observed and studied. An example of one of the breaching experiments Garfinkel did, was when he asked students to spend time in their homes acting like boarders asking permission, being polite and formal, etc. The results concluded that students reported family members who expressed shock, anxiety, embarrassment and anger towards their behaviors. Some of the implications of this is that it is important that people act in accord with commonsense assumptions with how they are supposed to behave. Therefore, we are all participants in the construction and maintenance of everyday cultural realities (O Brien, p. 343 348, 2011). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to determine this value, we should take two aspects into consideration. Firstly, CSX was the first bidder, which implies that Norfolk Southern s offer is a reaction to that of CSX. Norfolk Southern hostile bid of $100 per share represented a 14.1% premium over CSXs blended offer of $89.07. But if we look at the next reaction of Norfolk Southern, this offer did not create the reaction Norfolk Southern was hoping for, since after the new amendment made by CSX of $110 per Conrail share, Norfolk Southern offered after only two days the same value. CSX maintained its position at $110 per share for the front end until the last day before the shareholders vote, but increased its back end position (adding $16 of new convertible preferred stock to the back end offer) 4 days before the vote. Norfolk Southern also increased its offer to $115 per share. 3 At the beginning the offer was a reaction to the CSX bid; then other factors came into play, such as time, the time span until the vote of the shareholders, the legal procedure (since the judge ruled against Norfolk Southern). Protons are positive components and electrons are negative components. The attractive force that exists between the two is known as an intermolecular force due to the atoms and molecules of the substance. Intermolecular forces have four types: Ionic forces This is like the dipole dipole interaction but it differs slightly as ions are used as well as polar molecules. ions are held together by electrostatic forces in ionic solids.
