A Comparison Of Willy Loman And Death Of A Salesman
Arthur Millers Death of a Salesman is considered to be both a playwright s masterpiece, and a
cornerstone contemporary American drama. The subtitles consist of a central private conversation in
two of the acts and a requiem. The play was first introduced in 1949 and begin to strike an immediate
emotional chord with audiences. The work of the play would receive numerous awards, and honors,
including the most important one the Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle award.
Both plays ran 742 performances on Broadway. The premiere Death of a Salesman became one of the
most performed and adapted plays in American theatrical history. With much of the Millers family
being attributed to the Miller s facility in the portraying of the universal hopes and fears of the middle
class Americans today. Arthur Miller uses Willy Loman as one of the main characters. Miller

Willy believes that if you can talk the right people into buying something, then you could end up
making a deal like the rich people. Willy also showed irresponsibility on his part of his family when
he would never care for his family and through work was more important than family. I also think that
Willy tries to compare himself to Dave Singleman who was an 84 year old traveling salesman who
made sales in hotel rooms and was well known, and liked. When he died all salesmen, and buyers
attend his funeral. This is what Willy wants and wished for. Dave Singleman was an inspiration for
being a salesman and the dream was the reason why he went into sales and didn t leave for Alaska

Different Weapons Used in World War II
There were many weapons used in WWII. The most used gun in the war was the M1 Garand. In the
beginning of the war, almost every soldier carried it. It was easy to use, maintain, and reload even if
the person using it was inexperienced. The Soviet PPsh 41 was the second most used gun in the war. It
was mainly used for short range attacks because it wasn t very powerful or accurate. The Thompson
Submachine gun was the third most used gun. The Allies used this gun mostly because of its stopping
power and how fast it could shoot. The Thompson was not used much after the war because it
weighed over 10 pounds The biggest gun used in the war was the Gustav. It aimed well and created
holes 30 feet deep and 30 feet wide. It could be dismantled and shipped all over the world. It was
made by Gustav Krupp. He was married to Berth Krupp and they owned the Krupp Company. He
studied law and politics. After the war, he was charged with war crimes and later died in a car
accident. The Gustav was blown up by the Germans after the war so the Russians couldn t use it The
Ak 47 rifle was the most dangerous gun used in the war. It was made by combining different types of
automatic weapons and assault rifles. The man who thought of this idea was Mikhail Kalashnikov. He
was born in 1919 and wanted to become a poet when he grew older. Things weren t going well with
poetry, so he joined the army in 1938. He became a good fighter and was promoted to general and was

Michel Faucault Discourse
According to Michel Faucault, discourse is a form of power that circulates in the social field and can
attach to strategies of domination as well as those of resistance . More particularly, discourse are
settings, context, actions, fundamental interaction and the significance that governs the way it works
with one another. Discourses could also be seen as a process where specific values and structures that
are forced to the actors to create a system of coercion.
For discourse analysis assignment, I observed a workplace setting with a specific set of discourse and
identity kit. The place that I chose is traditional Chinese restaurant that I used to dine in with my

Biography Of Albert Einstein And Dorothy Parker
The Trial of a Century Albert Einstein and Dorothy Parker, both prominent figures in the 1920 s, took
part in demonstrations over a widely contested trial, as Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were
convicted in a trial that received mass protests from around the world (Sharrett). The trial of Sacco and
Vanzetti took place during the height of the Red Scare and the massive migration of immigrants to the
United States, where a substantial percentage of immigrants were from Italy. With the large influx of
newcomers and the end of the first World War, many nativist sentiments arose where immigrants were
held accountable for the economic downturns and scarcity of jobs. Not only that, but these foreigners
were accused of being constituents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the date of April 15, 1921, Frederick Parmenter, the paymaster for the Slater and Morrill Shoe
Company, received a payroll box from Shelley Neal (Barter 18). In this particular box that was
dropped off at the company s office, a certain dividend was subtracted off of the $30,000 dollars, that
was received. He ended up splitting $15,776 amongst 500 employees (Barter 18). After the division of
the money, Frederick Parmenter was accompanied by a guard working for the shoe company, whose
name was Alessandro Beradelli (Barter 18). With the money in hand, these two individuals made a
walk towards the production factory, as this was a routine procedure made every Thursday throughout
the entirety of the year (Barter 18). As they were nearing the railroad tracks, before the production
facility, waiting for the guards to lift the gate, both men were shot at point blank by two men who
were leaning on a rail near the railroad tracks (Barter 19). After Frederick and Alessandro were fatally
shot, the two murderous men approached the corpses, where they seized the payroll boxes and vacated
the area in a blue car with two other men (Barter 19). Immediately after news of the double murders
occurred, the police promptly arrived on the scene and started an investigation. Consequently, the first
police officer on the scene was Jimmy F. Bostock. During the scan around the region of the murders,

Management Theories In Classroom Management
2.4 Behaviour management theories While classroom management theory is constantly evolving.
There are many types of behaviour management and discipline strategies for the classroom. Some of
the theories are directly applicable and some theories can use with our own personal mix.
Understanding these theories can help educators define their own classroom management methods and
make decisions about how to best approach interactions with students (Hussung, 2016). 2.4.1 The
Assertive Discipline Model This theory, proposed by Lee Canter (1976), suggests that students
positive behaviours should be recognized and encouraged. As per his theory, teachers should inform
students about expectations they have as well as rules they have set. Once they inform students, they
will closely monitor who follow these guidelines. According to his theory, teachers should be
entrusted with the right to teach without any intervention, while students should learn without any
interruption (Edu excellence organisation, 2016). Most important thing in this model is teacher always
reinforced positive more than negative. However, if the student violates the rules persistently, then he
or she is punished. This include five steps namely; warning the student, giving 10 minute time out in
isolation, giving the student a 15 minute time out in isolation, calling the student s parents and finally,
sending the student to the principal s office. However, this approach is not practicable for the
teenagers. Because

Humour in Advertising
Humour in Advertising
Introduction
The Encyclopedia Britannica defines humor as a ¡§form of communication in which a complex,
mental stimulus illuminates, or amuses, or elicits the reflex of laughter¡¨. Many marketers use humor
in advertising as a way of appealing to consumer¡¦s emotions. These positive emotions can potentially
lead to cognitive processes that entice the consumer to purchase the related product. Doing it right
means not only engaging the prospect but getting them to remember the product. However, that
depends, among others, on Social and psychological factors, How a person has been socialized may
affect there judgment of humorous advertising. Humorous advertising can be found in variety of forms
including TV, radio, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But after a while, although they still may smile at the joke, it¡¦s not so funny any more. Funny ads
need to be replaced periodically which in turn increases cost. Another point to consider when using
humor in advertising is that different things are funny to different people. A commercial that may
leave one person gripping their sides from laughter may leave a bad taste in another¡¦s mouth. The
target market must always be considered. What¡¦s funny in a client presentation may not be funny on
an airplane, in a cinema or in a hospital.
Advertising humor can backfire. If you make a joke at the expense of any one group, you will surely
alienate them which will in turn lose customers and devalue the company¡¦s image. Advertising humor
also needs to be product specific. Everyone has seen funny ads they have liked so much that they have
forgotten what was being sold. Advertising humor must relate directly to the company or products if
they want to be remembered. Corporate image and industrial advertising are serious business.
Unknown, risky, expensive, or sensitive products are not normally suited to the lighter touch of
advertising humor.
The Marketing Environment
When dealing with humour marketers must consider the various factors in the marketing environment.
Some of these factors include:
Social/cultural Factors: Marketers must understand that their audience and consumers are of a

Microscope Research Paper
How are the photographs taken with a 3D microscope different than those taken with a regular
camera? How are they similar?
They are different, because you can see so much more when you look through a microscope. For
instance, you can see a strand of hair through a camera, at a tenth of a millimeter, but not a cell, at
100th of a millimeter.
How can photography allow us to view the world around us in different ways?
By taking memories, and valueing them. Teaching us to cherish the times spent with loved ones, and
when they are gone, to be grateful for that time with them, and grateful for the beautiful visual
memories, and the beautiful mental memories of our time spent with them.

Of the micro photographs in the video, which one did you like the best? Why?
The pollen, because it shows so many aspects to something so tiny. Something so small, having so so
many layers, that we cant even see!
If you were given a 3D microscope to use for photography, which object(s) would you most want to
photograph? Why?
I would want to photograph things like fruits, flowers, and people. Because it s important for people to
be able to see completely what they are seeing. Frankly, we have kind of bad eyesight as humans. It s
important for people to see and appreciate, the little things in life.
What is your favorite photograph in the presentation? Why?
My favorite, has to be the refuge. Her eyes certianly tell a story, and you can see so many emotions in
them. They tell a story that words cannot, they tell a story that no one else would ever be able to see,
otherwise.

Short Term Incentive Pay System
Short Term Incentive Pay
A survey report for publicly traded companies administered by WorldatWork found that 99 percent of
the 350 companies had some form of short term incentive pay system in place (Miller, 2014). Short
term incentive pay compensates employees for achieving short term business goals that are typically a
year or less. These goals can depend on factors such as the type of business, its specific strategy, and
market conditions to name a few. Metrics for short term incentive plans can include financial metrics
like revenue growth and profit maximization as well as non financial metrics specific to the company,
such as safety or quality assurance, customer satisfaction, and more (Fotsch Case, 2015). Short term
incentives normally reflect a percentage of the employee s salary or wage; there are threshold, target,
and maximum levels that can be achieved providing different levels of compensation based on
outcome. Short term incentive pay can involve individual employee performance, or group company
wide performance. Some examples of short term incentive pay include merit pay, bonus pay, and
profit/gain sharing. Understanding the specific processes and benefits of these types of short term
incentives allows employers to choose which plan saves the company the most money in terms of
productivity and reduction of turnover.

A Synopsis Of Sigmund Freud
A Synopsis of Sigmund Freud
The Theorist
Sigmund Freud was born, May 6, 1856, and died 23 September, 1939. He was beyond a doubt one of
the founding fathers of modern psychology. Sigmund Freud examined the human mind more in depth
than anyone who became before him. His contributions to psychology are immeasurable. He was one
of the most influential people throughout the twentieth century. His theories, and research have
influenced not only psychology, but many other areas of culture, including the way people raise their
children even today.
Freud influenced language and embedded it within the modern vocabulary of today. Words such as
anal (personality), libido, denial, repression, cathartic, Freudian slip, and neurotic are just a few of
terms he coined that are still widely used.
Freud held the belief that when explaining our own behavior, we rarely give an accurate account of
our motivation. It is not because we are intentionally lying. Although people are good deceivers of
others, they are even better at deceiving themselves. The rationalizations of our conduct are actually
disguising the real reasons. Freud s life work was spent predominately trying to find ways of
circumventing this camouflage that obscures the hidden structure and processes of personality.
Sigmund Freud really gained substantial recognition with his first book, co authored with Josef
Breuer, Studies in Hysteria. The book based on a new theory that physical symptoms often surface as

Many animals have special abilities to help them survive their environments. These are defenses they
have acquired over long periods of time through the evolution of their species. There are many of
these abilities that are very incredible and cause us humans to take a second look at due to us being so
astonished at all it is capable of. One of these abilities that have been found in many different animals
is electroreception. When people think of electricity, they usually think of something electronic and

These are receptors in animals that can perform electroreception. Both ampullary and tuberous
electroreceptors look basically the same on the surface, it is what is underneath that is different. They
both start within the epidermis of the organism. The ampullary electroreceptors are usually much
deeper and start off with a long canal lumen going down it. Then comes with canal wall cells and
within it are the nut like receptor cells. The receptor cells are attached to an afferent nerve that then
sends the signals received to the brain. On the other hand, in tuberous electroreceptors, they are much
shorter. Past the epidermis is a short tube that is connected to the basement membrane of the
epidermis. Then are the covering cells which cover the receptor cells. The receptor cells here resemble
flower pedals. Finally, is the afferent nerve which acts the same as in ampullary electroreceptors and
sends the information to the brain. Like state before, the ampullae of Lorenzini, which are the cells
that detect the electrical currents, are simply an extension of the lateral line system which most fish

Describe The Difference Between First And Second-Degree Burns
Burns are classified by the depth of the skin affected; There are two categories of burns partial
thickness burns, first and second degree burns, and full thickness burns, third degree burns. First
degree burns can be obtained through sunburns or brief exposer to very hot or cold objects and are the
least serious with only damage to the epidermis or top layer of the skin. You can identify first degree
burns through red skin with possible slight swelling and pain. Since these burns are not very serious
medical attention is not usually needed but homecare options include soaking the affected area in cool
water these burns have a recovery time of about a week. Second degree burns can be obtained by

This loss of water affects homeostasis and until skin is repaired and the patient is on their way to
recovery they may not have the ability to properly maintain their water levels to remain in a
homeostatic state. This results in the need for fluids to be given to the patient through an IV at the
same rate the patient is losing fluid to avoid both death and shock. The amount of fluid being lost can
be calculated using the Rule of Nines and the patients body weight. While burns may not spread to
others it may spread to affect more than just the integumentary system; severe burns may reach bone
infecting the skeletal system, severe burns damage or destroy nerve endings causing an effect on the
nervous system, the inability to retain fluids in severe burn patients causes dehydration affecting the
urinary system.

The Role of Fate in Macbeth
Fate has sundry meanings. One of the meanings of fate: power that predetermines events. Destiny s
definition suggests that events will occur and do not change. Whatever unravels in life cannot change
by mankind. The statement has undivulged meanings; fate has the opportunity to change if the person
wants events to end differently. However, wrong decisions will only seal fate. In Shakespeare s
Macbeth, The fate becomes confirmed through Lady Macbeth wanting more power, Macbeth s inner
conflict, and the three witches tricking Macbeth and leading him to his demise. The witches give

The Grapes Of Wrath And Jacob Lawrence s The Grapes Of Wrath
During the Dust Bowl and Great Depression migration in the United States impacted the nation just as
much as immigration did in the early twentieth century. The Dust Bowl was the time in which severe
dust storms occurred in the South because the ground was so infertile from all the years of farming on
it the wind would blow it away. Along with other agricultural and economic reasons it was during this
time that many Southerners began their migration North in search of work. John Steinman s, The
Grapes of Wrath and Jacob Lawrence s, The Migration Series demonstrate one characteristic of the
American Dream, the pursuit of happiness, through the theme of family both during times of need and
difficult situations.
The mother figures had the job to take care of everyone and make sure the family remained together
and one during their journey. One scene in The Grapes of Wrath the Joad family just arrived at a camp
and Mama Joad was making food when all the kids around her came to see if they could be fed too.
She knew she needed to take care of her family first and made sure that was a priority. After they were
fed she extended her love and care to the children of the camp by offering them what was left of the
remaining food. It was because of her nurturing persona she was able to find a way to feed the
children as well her family. Panel 11 labeled Food had doubled in price because of the war (68 69)

it, that the text is science fiction and deals with the super natural. Upon actually reading it however it
becomes painfully obvious that the main character of Invisible Man is quite visible indeed. Fictional
or not, he is a regular human being made of flesh and bone, and he even says so in the first sentences
of the book. So how can this black man possibly deem himself invisible? Perhaps this nameless
protagonist cannot be blamed completely for this freak occurrence. Maybe the invisibility stems from
a lack of sight of the people (mainly white) around him. Those people allow themselves to be blinded
by the semitransparent veil of stereotypes and racism, causing them not to be able to see the
protagonist/narrator for who he really is. With that being said, the narrator himself still has a part to
play in this so called invisibility. Throughout the story the narrator s actions cause people to see him as
someone he is not. It seems as though every time there is about to be a turning point in the narrator s
life his good ambitions are tampered with by the cruel intentions of those around him.
The genres of this work appear to be African American literature, satire, and in a sense it is a coming
of age kind of story. As such, the story follows the narrator s life during the great migration/Harlem
Renaissance era and has many different locations. It starts off in the

Linear Programming
The development of linear programming has been ranked among the most important scientific
advances of the mid 20th century. Its impact since the 1950 s has been extraordinary. Today it is a
standard tool used by some companies (around 56%) of even moderate size. Linear programming uses
a mathematical model to describe the problem of concern. Linear programming involves the planning
of activities to obtain an optimal result, i.e., a result that reaches the specified goal best (according to
the mathematical model) among all feasible alternatives.
Linear Programming as seen by various reports by many companies has saved them thousands to even
millions of dollars. Since this is true why isn t everyone using Linear Programming? Maybe the ...

I believe that every company should be using LP and I have hypothesized that linear programming
increases both EPS, ROI and by definition Profit. This research therefore assumes that a company not
using LP would have made less money than one that did use LP. The sample is 28 companies and I felt
this would be sufficient as a sample size as statisticians typically recommend a minimum of 20 data
points (in this case companies) in order to test a hypothesis. The companies are located in and near the
state of Delaware and also include New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
This research is not exhaustive and therefore will not be final in terms of how it is interpreted but it
will assist others who wish to use much larger samples and over much longer periods of time to refine
the results and potentially prove that LP does have a consistent improvement effect on a company s
profits, ROI and EPS measures of performance. Method
I used the survey research method as the basis of my research design. Calls were made to each
company that was randomly selected and for whom their results were collected. Each company was
asked the question Can we speak to your corporate planning and decision support function . If they
were unsure of which department was meant, we would then ask Can we speak to the key people

Through my semester in General Psychology Taking Psychology has taught me a lot more than I

By predicting behavior, psychologists try to determine if a person is likely to make healthy or
unhealthy decisions when confronted with certain situations. Most psychologist use experiments to
make predictions.
Part of what I learned in psychology is about Psychological science and when it was born . Also, some
of psychology s first graduate students studied the atoms of the mind by conducting experiments in
Leipzig, Germany in 1879. American philosopher William James wrote an important 1890 psychology
textbook. Mary Calkins, James s student, became the APA s first female president.
Psychology has taught me other ways to look at science. It has taught me that science is a discipline
that demonstrates an organized body of knowledge. The scientific method is observing phenomena,
formulating hypothesis. A hypothesis is a tentative explanation that can be tested and then accepted or
rejected. Psychology has taught me other ways to look at science and different ways to define the
terms.
What does a psychologist do? A psychologist is basically a scientist conducting research and testing
hypotheses. Science practitioners are clinical or counseling psychologists. Psychology s past and
present include French philosopher Rene Decartes( 1596 1650). Also, john Locke(1632 1704), who
was a British scientist who, with his followers, developed the doctrine of Empiricism. Charles

Love And Vengeance
Portrayal of Love Vengeance in Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni s
The Palace of Illusions
Is the desire for vengeance stronger than the longing to be loved?
Love and vengeance are two emotions that have an astounding level of control on us. However which
is a stronger driving force remains questionable. Love without fear and spite is the most powerful
human emotion; and still, it can be easy to slip back into an old way, a jealous rage, a resistance or
belief that one isn t worthy. Though it s a hard feeling to pinpoint, it s presence can be felt in everyone
s life. It is a practice like most of one s life lessons, and it can be abundant if one sticks with it and
expels the darkness from their heart and mind. Rightly said by Divakaruni ... Show more content on

She understood that perhaps they loved her but as a man they loved the notion of honour, of loyalty
towards each other and reputation more than her suffering. Then she decides that she will remember
the lesson taught to her and will use it to take revenge, no matter what its price. The questions
Draupadi raises, the things she resists and the emotions which drive her strengths in her discourse all
leave us, inquisitively, questioning our reception and reading of the Mahabharata. The distinctness of
Draupadi s narrative stands with the fact that Draupadi s feministic retelling, which is somewhat a
modern rendering fits into the plot of Mahabharata. Draupadi s story is more close to humanised
rendering, her anger, resentment, and suppressed desire make her one like us. She develops a concern
for the role of women which is distinctly modern and contemporary.
The Palace of Illusions is a story of vengeance. Panchaali s father vowed to avenge himself upon the
man who stole half his kingdom, and Panchaali herself later seeks her revenge for the action that
shamed her and took away everything she and her husbands had. Vengeance and pride coil together
within Panchaali, giving her no rest. But the big question is would vengeance really give her

Why Polygamy Should Be Legal
Could you imagine living in a world where it is acceptable for a man to marry more than one woman
and be open about it? A large number cannot and the practice of polygamy is seen as a taboo. The
families usually live private lives, and they do not interact with the rest of America due to anti bigamy
society we live in. Polygamy is the practice of being married to more than one person at the same
time. This is not to be confused with an open relationship or an open marriage. This topic was viewed
as controversial for years. As a practice that was not accepted in the public eye, it recently gained
more attention with mainstream media and culture. Shows on television such as Sister Wives may
pose questions if polygamy should be legally practiced, and it should not be. The stronger actions that
law enforcement continues to take against polygamist communities are justified. Women who partake
in the practice often times are not old enough or aware enough to be offered a real choice in the
polygamist marriage. Furthermore, the young women engaging in the practice makes it illegal. They
should be taken out of these environments as well as have the choice to live their lives as they please.
Polygamy can equally be seen as a way of oppressing women. The wives are forced to share their
husband with multiple women, while addressing the husband as their leader . Polygamous unions
nonetheless are still thriving in present day America as of 2015. These communities are allowed to

Percy Jackson Analysis
All of humanity comes from something, someone, and somewhere. For instance, every human has a
mother and a father. However, not everyone knows from where they come, who they come from, or
why they are where they are now. The series Percy Jackson and the Olympians show the title
character, Percy, learning who he is after learning where he came from all the while dodging monsters
while playing Capture the Flag on the side. One asset of knowing where you come from is finding
people who care about and understand you. For example, Annabel (Percy s maternal figure), Charon,
Tyson, and Poseidon are looking out for Percy, even though he sometimes feels isolated. Even though
he is usually simple spoken, Tyson made one of the deepest statements in the series, even if his
grammar was poor. In chapter 19 of The Sea of Monsters, Tyson proclaims to Percy, I prayed to
Daddy for help as I knew he was omnipotent. Soon the people at Merriment found myself. Met my
friend, the magnificent Percy Jackson. The biggest blessing ever to come from our Father. The guilt
made me ashamed that I snarled that Poseidon was mean. A god sent me a brother, and not only that, a
preeminent one. Once you know where you come from, you will always find people who love you for
who you are, even if who you are is an ADD demigod who controls water. Every family has history
that gets passed down through the generations all while creating special traditions that only that family
understands; although some of

Punk Rock Is A Unique And Changing Musical Genre
Punk rock is a unique and changing musical genre that was born in both England and the United
States in the late 1970s. A great music scene with a reliance on rejecting the norms of societies,
defiance of capitalism and consumption, heavy reliance on community, and a strong attitude of do it
yourself and self empowerment, punk continues to have a large influence on the contemporary music
scene. Punk rock, however, has faced problems when dealing with the ideals of sex and gender. Bands
within the scene are usually composed of males, women are objectified in song lyrics, and masculine
values like aggressiveness and violence are often glamorized, especially in sub genres of punk such as
hardcore punk. But women have managed, especially through the Riot Grrrl movement, to stake out
their own patch of punk rock territory. They have used punk rock to redefine concepts of gender and
sexuality in such as way that empowers them and gives them choices in life, rather than having values
being forced upon them.
To situate concepts of gender in punk rock, a brief look must be given to the history of punk rock.
Punk started in the late 1970 s, primarily in New York and London. The New York bands were
influenced by artists such as the New York Dolls, Patti Smith, and The Stooges, with the London
bands being influenced by glam rock artists such as David Bowie and Mott the Hoople; as well as pub
rock performers such as the 101ers. The punk movement flourished briefly between 1976 and

21st Century Flood Reform Act Analysis
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the 21st Century Flood Reform Act and to provide a
recommendation on whether the Senate should vote for or against it. In order to provide an informed
recommendation, this paper will first present background information on the 21st Century Flood
Reform Act and explain what it proposes. Following the background information, this paper will
analyze arguments both in support and in opposition of the 21st Century Flood Reform Act. To
conclude, this paper will make a recommendation, based on the analysis, on how the Senate should
vote for the 21st Century Flood Reform Act.

However, these WYO insurance companies would also receive a reduction in reimbursements. These
proposed changes to the NFIP also present improvements to flood mapping practices and addresses
the issue of high risk properties, which owners rebuild at high costs following a flood (Simpson,
2017).
According to Jeb Hensarling, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, if the 21st
Century Flood Reform Act became law, taxpayers would directly benefit through the competition of
private companies to provide affordable flood insurance rates for homeowners. Republican Sean P.
Duffy, the sponsor of the bill, spoke on the House floor and reinforced Hensarling s statement. Duffy
claimed that introducing private companies would allow homeowners to select alternative flood
insurance plans that may be cheaper than any available federal plans. Additionally, Duffy stated that
private flood insurance companies would assist taxpayers in covering the costs resulting from a flood.
Duffy concluded by not only stating that the 21st Century Flood Reform Act is a bipartisan bill but
also reiterated its benefit to homeowners, and that it would directly contribute to reducing the national
debt. The bill has also received support from the American Academy of Actuaries Casualty Practice
Council, as well as from environmental groups, under the condition that it would undergo additional
reforms in the Senate, such as to address flood mitigation and the financial

Marketing and Red Bull
P1 describe how marketing techniques are used to market products in two organisations
In this piece of work I will be describing how marketing techniques are used to market products in
two organisations. I will be talking about the techniques, role and objectives of the two products that I
have chosen. The two products that I have chosen to talk about are the Samsung galaxy s3 and Red

research involves the collection of data to obtain insight and knowledge into the needs and wants of
customers and the structure and dynamics of a market.

Samsung have different survival strategies. Survival strategies means when the sales of a product
decrease in a business, and the business is trying to keep them up. Most of Samsungs products have
been developed to be more high tech than their competitors. This gives them an advantage as they will
get more sales than anyone else in that industry. The Samsung Galaxy s3 had been developed from the
Samsung Galaxy s2 and has been created to be easier to use and more enjoyable for the customer.
Apple tried banning Samsung from releasing their Samsung galaxy s3 because Apple think Samsung
have used some of their software for their products. A business would need survival strategies if sales
for their products have gone down and they want to make as much money of the product before it goes
bust. Samsung reported an 82% jump in profits over the first quarter of last year, while revenue
climbed 22%.
Branding in a business is important as it shows the reputation of the business. The importance in the
buyer s behaviour can affect the businesses sales, as it can increase or decrease their sales. Consumers
are responsible factor for the sales of any products or services, so when a new product is being
released in the market, understanding consumers buying behaviour becomes very essential. The
business has to study and understand the

The Year I Would Not Say 2003
I would not say 2003 was my brightest year. Actually, I do not think I had that yet but it was the year I
started to notice how terrible the public school system in the city of Saint Louis could be. Not to say
every teacher didn t care but, it was something special about the teachers I encountered in this year. A
certain I don t care attitude that they gave off. This was never more apparent than in my 6th grade
homeroom class at Froebel elementary.
My homeroom teacher, Mr. Harris, a six foot tall elderly man stood up from the faded brown chair
pointing his wrinkled index finger at every single word on the chalk board in front of me and the tired
class. His greyish black mustache slowly rose from his mouth as he said the goal for the day. Just do
something! he shouted as he pointed at the board. He always had an attitude when he was speaking to
the class for some reason. His wrinkled Blue dress shirt and dark brown pants was a perfect
representation of his attitude, bland. I know you all are going to sleep and laugh through the whole
day. So do the other teachers a favor and don t snore loud. He said turning his face to us. His glasses
looked as old as he was. The black paint on them began to chip showing the hidden metal frame as the
light from the ceiling shined down on his wrinkled brown face. He rarely smiled but today he chose to
because it was a special day and boy was it pleasant . His teeth were yellow and I could smell his
breath from the middle of

before that case, the law regarded children as their parent s property. Another case in 1966 called Kent
v. United States was about a 16 year old named Morris Kent from Washington D.C. Kent had been on
probation since he was 14 for burglary and theft, had also been arrested and charged with three home
burglaries, three robberies, and two counts of rape. Because of the seriousness of Kent s crime history,
the prosecutor moved to try Morris in adult court. Without a hearing, the judge sent Kent to adult
court, where he was found guilty and sentenced to 30 to 90 years in prison. The Supreme Court ruled
against Kent, but the Justices said that in deciding whether to remove a case from juvenile court,
judges must weigh a variety of factors, including the seriousness of the crime; the juvenile s age; and
the defendant s criminal background and mental state. Because of this case, many states can try

  • 2. A Comparison Of Willy Loman And Death Of A Salesman Arthur Millers Death of a Salesman is considered to be both a playwright s masterpiece, and a cornerstone contemporary American drama. The subtitles consist of a central private conversation in two of the acts and a requiem. The play was first introduced in 1949 and begin to strike an immediate emotional chord with audiences. The work of the play would receive numerous awards, and honors, including the most important one the Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle award. Both plays ran 742 performances on Broadway. The premiere Death of a Salesman became one of the most performed and adapted plays in American theatrical history. Willy also showed irresponsibility on his part of his family when he would never care for his family and through work was more important than family. I also think that Willy tries to compare himself to Dave Singleman who was an 84 year old traveling salesman who made sales in hotel rooms and was well known, and liked. When he died all salesmen, and buyers attend his funeral. This is what Willy wants and wished for. Dave Singleman was an inspiration for being a salesman and the dream was the reason why he went into sales and didn t leave for Alaska when his brother Ben urge him ... • 3. Different Weapons Used in World War II There were many weapons used in WWII. The most used gun in the war was the M1 Garand. In the beginning of the war, almost every soldier carried it. It was easy to use, maintain, and reload even if the person using it was inexperienced. The Soviet PPsh 41 was the second most used gun in the war. It was mainly used for short range attacks because it wasn t very powerful or accurate. The Thompson Submachine gun was the third most used gun. The Allies used this gun mostly because of its stopping power and how fast it could shoot. The Thompson was not used much after the war because it weighed over 10 pounds The biggest gun used in the war was the Gustav. It aimed well and created holes 30 feet deep and 30 feet wide. It could be dismantled and shipped all over the world. It was made by Gustav Krupp. He was married to Berth Krupp and they owned the Krupp Company. He studied law and politics. After the war, he was charged with war crimes and later died in a car accident. The Gustav was blown up by the Germans after the war so the Russians couldn t use it The Ak 47 rifle was the most dangerous gun used in the war. It was made by combining different types of automatic weapons and assault rifles. The man who thought of this idea was Mikhail Kalashnikov. He was born in 1919 and wanted to become a poet when he grew older. Things weren t going well with poetry, so he joined the army in 1938. He became a good fighter and was promoted to general and was shot. While he was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Biography Of Albert Einstein And Dorothy Parker The Trial of a Century Albert Einstein and Dorothy Parker, both prominent figures in the 1920 s, took part in demonstrations over a widely contested trial, as Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were convicted in a trial that received mass protests from around the world (Sharrett). The trial of Sacco and Vanzetti took place during the height of the Red Scare and the massive migration of immigrants to the United States, where a substantial percentage of immigrants were from Italy. After the division of the money, Frederick Parmenter was accompanied by a guard working for the shoe company, whose name was Alessandro Beradelli (Barter 18). With the money in hand, these two individuals made a walk towards the production factory, as this was a routine procedure made every Thursday throughout the entirety of the year (Barter 18). As they were nearing the railroad tracks, before the production facility, waiting for the guards to lift the gate, both men were shot at point blank by two men who were leaning on a rail near the railroad tracks (Barter 19). After Frederick and Alessandro were fatally shot, the two murderous men approached the corpses, where they seized the payroll boxes and vacated the area in a blue car with two other men (Barter 19). • 6. Management Theories In Classroom Management 2.4 Behaviour management theories While classroom management theory is constantly evolving. There are many types of behaviour management and discipline strategies for the classroom. Some of the theories are directly applicable and some theories can use with our own personal mix. Understanding these theories can help educators define their own classroom management methods and make decisions about how to best approach interactions with students (Hussung, 2016). 2.4.1 The Assertive Discipline Model This theory, proposed by Lee Canter (1976), suggests that students positive behaviours should be recognized and encouraged. As per his theory, teachers should inform students about expectations they have as well as rules they have set. Once they inform students, they will closely monitor who follow these guidelines. According to his theory, teachers should be entrusted with the right to teach without any intervention, while students should learn without any interruption (Edu excellence organisation, 2016). Most important thing in this model is teacher always reinforced positive more than negative. However, if the student violates the rules persistently, then he or she is punished. This include five steps namely; warning the student, giving 10 minute time out in isolation, giving the student a 15 minute time out in isolation, calling the student s parents and finally, sending the student to the principal s office. However, this approach is not practicable for the teenagers. Because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Humour in Advertising Humour in Advertising Introduction The Encyclopedia Britannica defines humor as a ¡§form of communication in which a complex, mental stimulus illuminates, or amuses, or elicits the reflex of laughter¡¨. Many marketers use humor in advertising as a way of appealing to consumer¡¦s emotions. These positive emotions can potentially lead to cognitive processes that entice the consumer to purchase the related product. Doing it right means not only engaging the prospect but getting them to remember the product. But after a while, although they still may smile at the joke, it¡¦s not so funny any more. Funny ads need to be replaced periodically which in turn increases cost. Another point to consider when using humor in advertising is that different things are funny to different people. A commercial that may leave one person gripping their sides from laughter may leave a bad taste in another¡¦s mouth. The target market must always be considered. What¡¦s funny in a client presentation may not be funny on an airplane, in a cinema or in a hospital. Advertising humor can backfire. If you make a joke at the expense of any one group, you will surely alienate them which will in turn lose customers and devalue the company¡¦s image. Advertising humor also needs to be product specific. Everyone has seen funny ads they have liked so much that they have forgotten what was being sold. Advertising humor must relate directly to the company or products if they want to be remembered. Corporate image and industrial advertising are serious business. Unknown, risky, expensive, or sensitive products are not normally suited to the lighter touch of advertising humor. The Marketing Environment When dealing with humour marketers must consider the various factors in the marketing environment. Some of these factors include: Social/cultural Factors: Marketers must understand that their audience and consumers are of a multicultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Short Term Incentive Pay System Short Term Incentive Pay A survey report for publicly traded companies administered by WorldatWork found that 99 percent of the 350 companies had some form of short term incentive pay system in place (Miller, 2014). Short term incentive pay compensates employees for achieving short term business goals that are typically a year or less. These goals can depend on factors such as the type of business, its specific strategy, and market conditions to name a few. Metrics for short term incentive plans can include financial metrics like revenue growth and profit maximization as well as non financial metrics specific to the company, such as safety or quality assurance, customer satisfaction, and more (Fotsch Case, 2015). Short term incentives normally reflect a percentage of the employee s salary or wage; there are threshold, target, and maximum levels that can be achieved providing different levels of compensation based on outcome. • 12. A Synopsis Of Sigmund Freud A Synopsis of Sigmund Freud The Theorist Sigmund Freud was born, May 6, 1856, and died 23 September, 1939. He was beyond a doubt one of the founding fathers of modern psychology. Sigmund Freud examined the human mind more in depth than anyone who became before him. His contributions to psychology are immeasurable. He was one of the most influential people throughout the twentieth century. His theories, and research have influenced not only psychology, but many other areas of culture, including the way people raise their children even today. Freud influenced language and embedded it within the modern vocabulary of today. Words such as anal (personality), libido, denial, repression, cathartic, Freudian slip, and neurotic are just a few of terms he coined that are still widely used. Freud held the belief that when explaining our own behavior, we rarely give an accurate account of our motivation. It is not because we are intentionally lying. Although people are good deceivers of others, they are even better at deceiving themselves. The rationalizations of our conduct are actually disguising the real reasons. Freud s life work was spent predominately trying to find ways of circumventing this camouflage that obscures the hidden structure and processes of personality. Sigmund Freud really gained substantial recognition with his first book, co authored with Josef Breuer, Studies in Hysteria. Just about eight short years I ago I was asked if I was ready for the experience of a lifetime, by my parents. I said yes. It was only the summer before fifth grade that I went on a journey which was attending overnight camp at Camp Ramah in the Poconos. Before I arrived, I was happy as can be. But, when I arrived at the most meaningful place in the world, 2618 Upper Woods Road, Lakewood PA I constantly balled my eyes out. I was a mess because I was deeply homesick. It was a new environment. Throughout the experience of my initial summer I continued to be deeply homesick, but somehow with the friends I had made and the incredible counselors I had enjoyed the summer. Surprisingly, out of the four weeks of being a wreck I ended up loving Ramah, and made the choice to continue to be a camper the following summer which was the best choice I ever made. One of these abilities that have been found in many different animals is electroreception. When people think of electricity, they usually think of something electronic and man made. These are receptors in animals that can perform electroreception. Both ampullary and tuberous electroreceptors look basically the same on the surface, it is what is underneath that is different. They both start within the epidermis of the organism. The ampullary electroreceptors are usually much deeper and start off with a long canal lumen going down it. Then comes with canal wall cells and within it are the nut like receptor cells. The receptor cells are attached to an afferent nerve that then sends the signals received to the brain. On the other hand, in tuberous electroreceptors, they are much shorter. Past the epidermis is a short tube that is connected to the basement membrane of the epidermis. Then are the covering cells which cover the receptor cells. The receptor cells here resemble flower pedals. Finally, is the afferent nerve which acts the same as in ampullary electroreceptors and sends the information to the brain. Like state before, the ampullae of Lorenzini, which are the cells that detect the electrical currents, are simply an extension of the lateral line system which most fish have. The ampulla have hair cells as the key functional unit . The Grapes Of Wrath And Jacob Lawrence s The Grapes Of Wrath During the Dust Bowl and Great Depression migration in the United States impacted the nation just as much as immigration did in the early twentieth century. The Dust Bowl was the time in which severe dust storms occurred in the South because the ground was so infertile from all the years of farming on it the wind would blow it away. Along with other agricultural and economic reasons it was during this time that many Southerners began their migration North in search of work. John Steinman s, The Grapes of Wrath and Jacob Lawrence s, The Migration Series demonstrate one characteristic of the American Dream, the pursuit of happiness, through the theme of family both during times of need and difficult situations. The mother figures had the job to take care of everyone and make sure the family remained together and one during their journey. The True Maeaning of Invisiblity With the title that Ralph Ellison chose for this book one could easily conclude, without even reading it, that the text is science fiction and deals with the super natural. Upon actually reading it however it becomes painfully obvious that the main character of Invisible Man is quite visible indeed. Fictional or not, he is a regular human being made of flesh and bone, and he even says so in the first sentences of the book. So how can this black man possibly deem himself invisible? Perhaps this nameless protagonist cannot be blamed completely for this freak occurrence. Maybe the invisibility stems from a lack of sight of the people (mainly white) around him. Those people allow themselves to be blinded by the semitransparent veil of stereotypes and racism, causing them not to be able to see the protagonist/narrator for who he really is. With that being said, the narrator himself still has a part to play in this so called invisibility. Throughout the story the narrator s actions cause people to see him as someone he is not. It seems as though every time there is about to be a turning point in the narrator s life his good ambitions are tampered with by the cruel intentions of those around him. The genres of this work appear to be African American literature, satire, and in a sense it is a coming of age kind of story. A large number cannot and the practice of polygamy is seen as a taboo. The families usually live private lives, and they do not interact with the rest of America due to anti bigamy society we live in. Polygamy is the practice of being married to more than one person at the same time. This is not to be confused with an open relationship or an open marriage. This topic was viewed as controversial for years. As a practice that was not accepted in the public eye, it recently gained more attention with mainstream media and culture. Shows on television such as Sister Wives may pose questions if polygamy should be legally practiced, and it should not be. The stronger actions that law enforcement continues to take against polygamist communities are justified. Women who partake in the practice often times are not old enough or aware enough to be offered a real choice in the polygamist marriage. Furthermore, the young women engaging in the practice makes it illegal. They should be taken out of these environments as well as have the choice to live their lives as they please. • 32. Punk Rock Is A Unique And Changing Musical Genre Punk rock is a unique and changing musical genre that was born in both England and the United States in the late 1970s. A great music scene with a reliance on rejecting the norms of societies, defiance of capitalism and consumption, heavy reliance on community, and a strong attitude of do it yourself and self empowerment, punk continues to have a large influence on the contemporary music scene. Punk rock, however, has faced problems when dealing with the ideals of sex and gender. Bands within the scene are usually composed of males, women are objectified in song lyrics, and masculine values like aggressiveness and violence are often glamorized, especially in sub genres of punk such as hardcore punk. But women have managed, especially through the Riot Grrrl movement, to stake out their own patch of punk rock territory. They have used punk rock to redefine concepts of gender and sexuality in such as way that empowers them and gives them choices in life, rather than having values being forced upon them. To situate concepts of gender in punk rock, a brief look must be given to the history of punk rock. Punk started in the late 1970 s, primarily in New York and London. The New York bands were influenced by artists such as the New York Dolls, Patti Smith, and The Stooges, with the London bands being influenced by glam rock artists such as David Bowie and Mott the Hoople; as well as pub rock performers such as the 101ers. However, these WYO insurance companies would also receive a reduction in reimbursements. These proposed changes to the NFIP also present improvements to flood mapping practices and addresses the issue of high risk properties, which owners rebuild at high costs following a flood (Simpson, 2017). According to Jeb Hensarling, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, if the 21st Century Flood Reform Act became law, taxpayers would directly benefit through the competition of private companies to provide affordable flood insurance rates for homeowners. Republican Sean P. Duffy, the sponsor of the bill, spoke on the House floor and reinforced Hensarling s statement. Duffy claimed that introducing private companies would allow homeowners to select alternative flood insurance plans that may be cheaper than any available federal plans. Additionally, Duffy stated that private flood insurance companies would assist taxpayers in covering the costs resulting from a flood. Duffy concluded by not only stating that the 21st Century Flood Reform Act is a bipartisan bill but also reiterated its benefit to homeowners, and that it would directly contribute to reducing the national debt. The bill has also received support from the American Academy of Actuaries Casualty Practice Council, as well as from environmental groups, under the condition that it would undergo additional reforms in the Senate, such as to address flood mitigation and the financial ... The Samsung Galaxy s3 had been developed from the Samsung Galaxy s2 and has been created to be easier to use and more enjoyable for the customer. Apple tried banning Samsung from releasing their Samsung galaxy s3 because Apple think Samsung have used some of their software for their products. • 35. The Year I Would Not Say 2003 I would not say 2003 was my brightest year. Actually, I do not think I had that yet but it was the year I started to notice how terrible the public school system in the city of Saint Louis could be. Not to say every teacher didn t care but, it was something special about the teachers I encountered in this year. A certain I don t care attitude that they gave off. This was never more apparent than in my 6th grade homeroom class at Froebel elementary. My homeroom teacher, Mr. Harris, a six foot tall elderly man stood up from the faded brown chair pointing his wrinkled index finger at every single word on the chalk board in front of me and the tired class. His greyish black mustache slowly rose from his mouth as he said the goal for the day. Just do something! he shouted as he pointed at the board. He always had an attitude when he was speaking to the class for some reason. His wrinkled Blue dress shirt and dark brown pants was a perfect representation of his attitude, bland. I know you all are going to sleep and laugh through the whole day. So do the other teachers a favor and don t snore loud. He said turning his face to us. His glasses looked as old as he was. The black paint on them began to chip showing the hidden metal frame as the light from the ceiling shined down on his wrinkled brown face. He rarely smiled but today he chose to because it was a special day and boy was it pleasant . His teeth were yellow and I could smell his breath from the middle of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Specific goals for this general social movement had been to improve the circumstances in terms of rights, privileges, freedom of speech, educational reform, and campus life style. The Students Rights Movement began with two movements: the Free Speech Movement and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, including many different court cases and examples of students radically changing the social aspect of education. The Free Speech Movement had been the first 1960 s student movement to emphasize students rights at the University of California, Berkeley (Singleton and Wilden 688). Students felt restrained by ... In a landmark case known as In re Gault, which concerned the arrest of a 15 year old Arizona boy, the Court ruled that teenagers have distinct rights under the U.S. Constitution (10 Supreme Court Cases Every Teen Should Know). This was the case that started teenagers to have their own rights, because before that case, the law regarded children as their parent s property. Another case in 1966 called Kent v. United States was about a 16 year old named Morris Kent from Washington D.C. Kent had been on probation since he was 14 for burglary and theft, had also been arrested and charged with three home burglaries, three robberies, and two counts of rape. Because of the seriousness of Kent s crime history, the prosecutor moved to try Morris in adult court. Without a hearing, the judge sent Kent to adult court, where he was found guilty and sentenced to 30 to 90 years in prison. The Supreme Court ruled against Kent, but the Justices said that in deciding whether to remove a case from juvenile court, judges must weigh a variety of factors, including the seriousness of the crime; the juvenile s age; and the defendant s criminal background and mental state. Because of this case, many states can try teenagers under 18 as adults for crimes such as murder, sexual assault, or possession or sale of drugs, with punishments that range up to life in prison without the possibility of parole (10 Supreme Court Cases Every Teen ...
