Solar Energy Is The Best Type Of Energy
When you close your eyes and think of solar energy, what do you see? Your response is most
likely something positive such as an innovative, efficient, and renewable step forward into the
future. Solar is also thought of to be the best type of energy because the sun will never go away.
Well, solar energy will have to battle it out with natural gas and oil in the near future. As the price
of oil and natural gas continues to drop, solar energylooks less desirable as other sources become
more affordable in the short term (Sanburn 38). Josh Sanburn, author for Time Magazine, does
have a relevant point while discussing solar energy s competitors. The handful of solar energy s
positives makes it easy for the green thumbed consumers of today to overlook the many
negatives. The negatives are very important though when on the topic of something that could
possibly determine the future of the whole world s energy productivity. The number one issue
with the continuation of solar energy is the price. The main solar energy companies try to sell
their panels by repetitively saying that the panels will save money in the long run. Yet solar
energy was the most costly energy source for kW/hr in 2015. The rooftop solar craze is wasting
billions of dollars a year that could be spent on greener initiatives. It also is hindering the growth
of much more cost effective renewable sources of power. Solar energy is able to stay relevant
because of the large amount of subsidies placed by the

Nullification Crisis Significance
The Nullification Crisis was significant. The Nullification Crisis started in 1828 when the Congress
passed a very high tariff on manufactured goods from Europe. The Southerners started protesting
against tariffs and called to secede from the United States. Since anger of tariffs continued to build
in the South, the Congress passed a new, lower tariff in 1832, hoping that the protest in the South
would die down. However, the South Carolinalegislature passed the Nullification act, an act
refusing to pay the illegal tariffs of 1828 and 1832. If the federal government interfered then the
South will continue calling for secession and the union will split apart. The significance of the
Nullification Crisis was that it caused President Jackson

Understanding Cultural Identity
Understanding Your Cultural Identity Children begin to develop a sense of identity as
individuals and as members of groups from their earliest interactions with others (McAdoo, 1993;
Sheets, 1999a) (Trumbull and Pacheco 9). The very idea of being able to understand your own
culture can better you as a person and give you an even deeper understanding of life. Such cultural
things you should understand is your beliefs, the types of food you eat, what types of ethnicity
they belong to, and even where you live. These four things can give you a deeper understanding of
your own culture. Now a day cultures are mixed it is said that Not all of these aspects need to be
shared, however, for people to psychologically identify with a particular ethnic... Show more

Rafe and Robin in Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus Essay
Rafe and Robin in Marlowe s Doctor Faustus
Rafe and Robin waltz into Christopher Marlowe s The Tragical History of D. Faustus in scene four
and vanish three scenes later. Although they may appear trivial and even intrusive, Rafe and Robin
bring much needed comic relief to this tragic play. Imitating Doctor Faustus actions unwittingly, this
pair of ostlers illuminates Faustus misuse of power. They also reflect Faustus character by acting
as his parallel self. Behind their clownish antics, Rafe and Robin highlight Faustus downfall and
evil s power through comic relief, parody, and parallel.
According to the Neo Classical view of tragedies, tragic action is the essence of the play; comic
relief is often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the same scene, Robin confuses the Devil Balioll with Balio and Banio. Since Robin is able to
conjure lewd yet intelligent puns, it is possible that he only pretends to mix up Balioll s name so
that the Devil becomes a silly entity to be laughed at and not to be feared.
Exposing Faustus sins to grotesque exaggeration, Rafe and Robin parody Doctor s magical
tricks. Cole states that the representatives of the forces of evil and destruction are doomed before
they begin; the more confident and boastful they are, the more ludicrous they become; any
suffering they experience is but just and deserved (16). Indeed, as Faustus becomes more boastful
of his mastery over the dark arts, Rafe and Robin s exaggerated imitations demonstrate the
absurdity of his abilities. In sc.iv, immediately after Faustus declares his ambitions to become
emperor of the world by learning from Mephastophilis, the clown Robin decides to become Wagner
s pupil. This is a parody of serious action, and it undercuts the grandeur of Faustus dreams. Faustus
marvels at the words of Valdes and Cornelius and daydreams about learning the dark arts from
them. Rafe s naГЇve reply to his mentor Robin parodies Faustus wide eyed wonder (sc.vi, 37 40): O
brave, Robin! Shall I have Nan Spit, and to mine own use? On that condition I ll feed thy devil
with horse bread as long as he lives, of free

Examples Of Predictable And Predictable Stressors
Journal 4 Predictable and unpredictable stressors can work for some married couples, yet a
breaking point for others. Predictable stressors starts abruptly during the beginning phase of a
marriage. Identity bargaining, loss of independence, new friends and relatives, and conflicts over
career and domestic roles comes heavily into play at the beginning of a marriage. Childrearing
stage, which normally comes later, is the second phase of predictable stressors. The birth of a
child is a stressor, whether it s planned or not. Parents have to embark on years of childrearing,
which at times can severely tax them financially. Having children can be expensive, from clothing
to college, and psychologically draining as well. Leading up to the third stage, the empty nest or

By denying reality, you are essentially protecting yourself from the having to face and deal with
the unpleasant consequences and pain that accompany acceptance Repression There is a fine line
between denial and repression. But where denial involves the outright refusal to accept a given
reality, repression involves completely forgetting the experience altogether. With repression, your
mind makes the decision to bury the memory in the subconscious, thereby preventing painful,
disturbing or dangerous thoughts from entering awareness Reaction Formation With reaction
formation, you are going beyond denial and behaving in the opposite way to which you think or
feel. Typically, reaction formation is marked by a blatant display. For example, the man who
preaches his disdain for homosexuality overtly may be a defense against confronting his own
homosexual feelings. Regression With regression, you revert back to an earlier level of
development and earlier, less demanding behaviors, as a way of protecting yourself from having to

Shere Khan as the Enemy in Mowgli s Brothers of Rudyard Kipling s The Jungle Book
The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling was written in the year 1894 as a series of short stories based
primarily in the jungles of India. The first story, Mowgli s Brothers introduces a number of
characters that feature throughout additional stories in the novel. The antagonist a tiger named
Shere Kahn, is introduced early in the novel and presents the ongoing danger against the
protagonist, man child , Mowgli. Kipling conveys Shere Kahn as the enemy early in the novel
through varied use of language and the events that create tension between Mowgli himself. Shere

Father Wolf says killing man means sooner or later there will be the arrival of white men on
elephants with guns and hundreds of brown men with gongs and rockets then, everybody in the
jungle suffers .
When Shere Khan first attacks the woodcutter s camp he is shown as incompetent. He burns his
paw in the human s fire and he is heard to be mumbling and muttering savagely as he tumbled
about . This is where we first hear of his dry, angry, snarly, singsong whine sounds. The
alliteration here emphasises his anger and confusion. The description of how Shere Khan is
whining shows how frustrated he is with Mowgli. He is portrayed as a tiger who is, unlike other
tigers because of his untigerish howl and we are told he has been lame in one foot from his birth
which shows that he is physically inferior to other tigers. He is also humiliated by Mother Wolf s
strong use of language by describing her movement as she sprang forward, her eyes, like two green
moons .
Kipling uses language to contrast Shere Khan with other animals and Characters. Mowgli is
described as soft and is also viewed as brave by Mother Wolf. How naked and how bold she says.
This shows that Mowgli the hero is not dangerous. Bagheera is portrayed by Kipling as a beautiful
animal who is inky black all over, but with the panther marking showing up in certain lights

The Woman Warrior, Maxine Hong Kingston
In The Woman Warrior, Maxine Hong Kingston crafts a fictitious memoir of her girlhood among
ghosts. The book s classification as a memoir incited significant debate, and the authenticity of her
representation of Chinese American culture was contested by Asian American scholars and authors.
The Woman Warrior is ingenuitive in its manipulation of the autobiographical genre. Kingston
integrates the value of storytelling in her memoir and relates it to dominant themes about silence,
cultural authenticity, and the cultivation of identity. Throughout her work, Kingston reaches a
variety of conclusions about the stories her mother told her by writing interpretations of her
mother, Brave Orchid s, talk story . Brave Orchid s talk story is a form... Show more content on

She considers that some man had commanded her to lie with him and be his secret evil. (Kingston
6). Kingston writes her initial version of the No Name Woman, who was raped, raided, and died an
outcast, but Kingston determines that this telling does not fit her understanding of China. Therefore,
Kingston entertains another hypothetical, that her aunt took a lover and saved him from shame by
giving silent birth and not revealing the lover s identity (Kingston 11). Here, Kingston critically
examines the inherited talk story of her mother to determine the meaning she should obtain from
the death of her aunt. Her mother s conclusion is that she must not become pregnant, but Kingston
is uncertain about the simplicity of her mother s story. In the No Name Woman, Kingston
introduces the fictitious memoir structure that she utilizes through the variety of interpretations of
her aunt s story. Consistently through the memoir, Kingston writes contrasting accounts of the
same stories and imagines the stories of others to further her themes about silence, authenticity, and
identity formation.
Kingston begins The Woman Warriorby writing a story which started with her mother insisting that
she must not tell anyone...what I am about to tell you. (Kingston 3). Kingston s first written words
are a defiance of this silencing. Silence is a motif that permeates the entirety of The Woman
Warrior; Kingston

If you bought the game for it s full price, you could access all the features of the game with your
code. If you got your game used, then chances are that the code would have already been
redeemed by somebody else, preventing you from going online with the game. This was done to
mitigate possible losses due to game rentals and game resellers such as GameStop. While this
didn t really push in game purchases, it did set the tone for locking certain aspects of a game
behind a paywall (Williams). The next step was to intentionally lock not only features, but
content behind a paywall. In 2011, Rockstar introduced the first season pass for their game L.A.
Noir. This season pass allowed a customer to buy all DLC, or downloadable content (any content
that isn t included on the base game, but must be purchased and added to the game), as a big
bundle. Usually, this bundle was at a discounted rate compared to buying all the DLC separately,
and it incentivized fans to spend more money on the game, even if it meant paying for things they
would never use. Unlike the online passes, the season pass was implemented into almost every
major game released in 2011 and beyond including Borderlands 2, Destiny, and Evolve (Williams).
All of this history culminated in the mother of microtransactions; loot boxes. Loot boxes are objects
that can be purchased in game. Opening

Vallenatos are typical Colombian music that has been spreading throughout the world in the course
of many years. Vallenatos are considered Colombian folk music.
This type of music usually consists of only three traditional instruments that are the caja vallenata,
the guacharaca, and the accordion. A caja vallenata is a small drum held between the knees and
played with bare hands. The caja vallenata is similar to a tambora drum. The guacharaca is a
wooden, ribbed stick similar to a sugar cane, accompanied by a fork that when rubbed together
emits a scraping sound. The accordion is a three line button, German origin accordion. It has three
reeds per note and it comes in different tones. Accordions in Colombia and Panama sometimes have
custom made tones especially made for Vallenato. Festival Vallenato was no exception; the three
traditional instruments were used by each one of the performers in all their sets. Throughout the
day all the artists that I saw performing came onto the stage with the same instruments.
Festival Vallenato has been going on for eight years counting this one. In Festival Vallenato 2012
very famous artists like Martin Elias Diaz, Silvestre Dangond, and Felipe Pelaez performed

Work Motivation Essay
An organization is a common platform where individuals from different backgrounds come
together and work as a collective unit to achieve certain objectives and targets. An organization
consists of individuals with different specializations, educational qualifications and work
experiences all working towards a common goal. Just like how every employee have different
specializations, educational qualifications and work experiences, the employees also differ in
generations called Gen X(people born in 1965 1981), Gen Y (people born in 1982 2000) and Baby
boomers(people born in 1946 1964). All these employees need work motivationin some way or the
other to perform at work place and produce desired results.
In the due course of time there are many changes in the organizations that are taking place.
Organizational changes happen due to leadership, technical changes and also due to multiple
generations working under a single roof. By these generations working under a single roof there
are many contradictions and differences right from the value systems to how each generations see
the work. So motivating each generation to achieve their goal is a huge task even for the leading
managers.
Work motivation is described as the psychological processes that direct, energize, and maintain
action toward a job, task, role, or project (Campbell Pritchard, 1976; Kanfer, 1990). Work
motivation is a set of energetic forces that originate both within as well as beyond an individual s

Doors Opening, Closing On Us, By Marge Piercy
The word doors can have different meanings. Literally, they are a slab of material that separates
something from another, usually a room. Figuratively they can have many meanings, for example,
they can symbolize a growth or a development. In addition, doors can show, an important point
where someone turns from a child into an adult, or they can symbolize celebrations held to
commemorate these special transitions. Doors can also be used to describe life s most important
parts, such as being born or passing away. The Giveris a book by Lois Lowry, it is about a boy
named Jonas living in a community set in the future. This community faces strict laws, if the
citizen does not abide by these rules then there can be some serious punishments. In this book

them in his mind to shield the truth from the people of the community. The poem Doors

what they can symbolize. Piercy writes about how doors can mean various things to different

Polonius Mad For Thy Love Analysis

Polonius theory of love assumes that Love can make someone mad
The feeling of love can make a person mad. Hamlet portrays Hamlet who seems mad for the love
he has for Ophelia. When Polonius is speaking to his daughter, he says about the madness that
Hamlet has for their love, Mad for thy love? (2.1.83). The words mad and love makes the syntactic
structure that Polonius makes for Hamlet. Love is the subject in Hamlet and Polonius seems to
depict a special kind of love through his daughter Ophelia, and Laertes. However, the words by
Polonius to the queen, the cause of this effect, / Or rather say, the cause of this defect (2.2.101 2),
are reflective of the phrase that claims about Hamlet s madness.
Love is an intense feeling that makes an individual to feel attracted to something or someone. The
claim that is laid by Polonius, Mad for thy love? (2.1.83) is a depiction of a feeling that has grown
so much intense that it has swayed Hamlets mind, he is not configuring anything in his thought
properly. The implication of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

making him lose grip on reality since the situations to manage are emotionally difficult. Also,
Ophelia is truly insane which makes him lose the vestige of self knowledge and exposure. The

madness as the vehicle for advancing plot nicely to the direction needed to flow. Furthermore,

Analysis Of Scarlet By Marissa Meyer
There are many diverse reasons people set out on a mission or goal, some do it for fame and

you. (Meyer, page 134) Wolf, a man she met at a dinner, helped Scarlet throughout her
journey. On the train to Paris, where Scarlet s grandmother is said to be, someone got infected
with The Plague. As the author says, Are we jumping? [Scarlet] Yes. [Wolf] (Meyer, page 181).
If Wolf hadn t told Scarlett to jump out of the train she would have been stuck on that train or in
quarantine for who knows how long. Later, after they jumped out of the first train, they spied
another train heading for Paris and decided to jump onto it. then she was falling, the world
tumbling around her. [...] her fall stopped with a painful yank on her shoulder. (Meyer, page 236).

How Technology Can Enhance His Students Understanding Of...
My CT uses technology in many ways to enhance his students understanding of Math and Science
concepts. I have noticed in my class Science lessons, they often engage in learning through a
document camera presentation, computer lab activity, IPad research, PowerPoints, and educational
videos. My CT tried to use various types of conceptdelivery to keep his students engaged in the
concept being taught. When the students were learning about lifecycles of animals, the students
were taught with all of the different types of technology listed.
My CT would use a document camera or a PowerPoint to teach his Science lessons. The
document camera allowed the teacher to display opaque worksheets, pictures, and stories to the
whole class so that they were able to follow along. One day, my CT was talking about the life
cycle of a sharks and he wanted to show the class an article from a National Geographic weekly
that talked about sharks and human interactions. The document camera allowed the teacher to
display the article and its pictures to the whole class at once instead of trying to talk about it while
the students passed around the magazine article. By using technology in Science, the teacher was
able to keep his students involved in the content instead of having students become disengaged due
to worrying about where the magazine is and where it s going.
The teacher used videos to get the students to see how an animal progresses through the different
stages of life and how we can

A Comparison For Variable Cost And Absorption Costing
I have attached an analysis for your review. This analysis reflects a comparison for Variable Cost
and Absorption costing using
Sales:60,000 units
Production:80,000 units
Ending Inventory:20,000 units
Based on these analyses I have made several recommendations along with pros and cons to aid in
the decision making process.
I recommend that we use absorption costing over variable costing. Absorption costing is a method
where ...fixed manufacturing costs are inventoriable costs (Datar, et al, 2009). That is, inventory
absorbs all manufacturing costs. In the absorption metho there does not need to be a distinction
between fixe and variable costs.
Per the analyses performed on the attached spreadsheets one can see that the ... Show more content

We should experience some of the following positives after implementing JIT:
Supply Chain Management: The JIT inventory model may assist in being more efficient in the
way we handle supply chains and use our parts to assemble products. We can provide lower costs
throughout the manufacturing process; which can be passed on to our customers. With our lower
costs, we could produce a more affordable product for our customers and thereby help to stay ahead
of our competitors.
Reduction of Waste: By maintaining our current method we are housing products that go unused
and/or become obsolete. This causes us to sell product at a reduced price often less than cost or we
must dump the product with no money gained at all. The JIT inventory model should help to
address this situation and by housing fewer products in the warehouses we could address our
customer needs quicker and be open to customized orders.
Reduction in Warehouse Costs: It can be costly to keep excess inventory on hand. By moving to
JIT we may be able to reduce the number of warehouses we currently have as well as eliminate
excess storage.
Improved Customer Relations: Adopting the JIT model will allow for better servicing of our
customers. Having greater control of the manufacturing process will make it easier to respond to
our customers needs and any changes they may have or require.
While I have high lited the positives above we must also consider possible negative aspects.

Similarities Between Bergman And Ingmar Bergman
Ingmar Bergman. Ingmar Bergman s films commonly deal with his doubts about the existence of
God, earning him the sobriquet the protestant atheist . His religious interests came from his
childhood. His father, Erik, was a Lutheran pastor of the old school. Although the two never had a
close relationship, Ingmar would often travel with his father to country parishes, where he listened
to the sermons and hymns and studied the icons and architecture to pass the time during services
that seemed interminable to a restless young boy. His relationship with his mother Karin wasn t any
more nurturing and Ingmar grew up in a lonely house. He found solace in Puppet Theater and
projections. Throughout his long film career Bergman continued to deal with themes of
psychological torment,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its focus is more on psychological trauma; the explosion of fear and emotion when facing past
regrets. There is however, a direct correlation between the two. Unlike The Seventh Seal, the
religious element in Wild Strawberries is minor even though both are variations on the questions
that constitute the majority of comprehensive themes in Bergman s work. In both films the
protagonist must face the truth about his past and present. This is achieved here through what Carl
Jung called The Night Sea Journey . A journey into the individuals own subconscious. Dreams and
hallucinations are the most accessible mediums of this type of psychic trip; the proximity of death
as in Wild Strawberries and The Seventh Seal can provide a catalyst for such a journey. Bergman
has an ability to convince an audience that the dream sequence projected on the screen, while
inherently artificial is believable. It is through these dream sequences that Bergman s symbolism
becomes enigmatic, probing the recesses of the individuals psyche and the complexities of human
relationships that could not otherwise be explained

Why Is Camping Tent Camping
Each year, thousands of people choose to spend their vacation in the outdoors camping. There are
various types of camping depending on the individual s sense of adventure. You can choose from
log cabin camping, recreational vehicle camping, and the so called roughing it tent camping which
can be the most gratifying. However even the best planning, tentcampingcan be an extremely
frustrating endeavor due to uncontrolled factors like equipment failures, bad weather, and
encounters with wildlife. Nothing can ruin to excited anticipation of camping more than a rainy,
dark, and cloudy day. Some of the most adventurous campers will lose the enthusiasm on the drive
to the campsite if it s dark and dreary. Campers must set up camp in the downpour as soon as they
get to their destination. Setting up camp includes setting up the tent without getting water or mud
on the inside, getting your sleeping bags situated correctly without getting wet, and keeping the
food safe from the rain. If the sleeping bags happen to get wet, the cold instantly becomes a major

Eliot Deutsch s The Concept Of The Body
The body, while seemingly clearly definable and universally understood, is a concept that humans
have struggled to define and understand for much of history. Social conceptions of the mind or
spirit shaped philosophers understandings of the relationship between the mind and body, as well as
attitudes toward the body. In his essay The Concept of the Body, Eliot Deutsch presents readers
with four popular modes of conceiving of the body. These models, popularized at different points
throughout history, are the prison, the temple, the machine, and the instrument. Through reading
Platos dialogue Phaedo, one gains perspective on Socratesconception of the body as primarily a
prison. The prison body metaphor, as explained by Deutsch, is premised on the fundamental belief
in a duality of mind and body, meaning that the mind and body are separate entities with different
wants, needs, and characteristics. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When one goes to prison, one is stripped of one s freedom, possessions, and overall sense of
identity. Similarly, Socrates views the body as taking something away from the soul. However, in
this case it is not freedom nor identity, but wisdom. The belief that the body takes something
from an individual is present in Socrates epistemological beliefs. To Socrates, learning is
recollection. To prove this, Socrates introduces the Theory of Opposites, which states that all
things in the world come out of their opposites: largeness out of smallness, loudness out of
quietness, life out of death. He reasons that this proves that the soul is immortal and after death
enters a new body. This idea alone lends itself to the body as a prison metaphor as a soul does
not belong to any body, but rather put inside of a body with a degree of randomness. However,
the prison body metaphor is more strongly reinforced by Socrates belief that the soul is exposed to
the Forms in the period between death and

Delahij, Kamphuis and Van Den Berg (2016) conducts a comparative analysis of how family

reality it is multifaceted. For this experiment, researchers focused on the perceived level of support
from a service member s family. Participants for this experimentation were North Atlantic Treaty
Organization military personnel providing direct support to the International Security Assistance
Force. Service members would document at the end of each month of their deployment the
interactions with their family members. Measuring actual support would be difficult due to the
variety of communications methods utilized in today society; therefore, researchers focused on the
perception of support. Furthermore, an individual who is in constant communication with their
family may not feel as supported than an individual with sporadic interactions may; thus, social
support is subjective. Measurements ranged across a continuum starting with service members who
felt no support to unwavering support. An additional goal of researchers was to measure the context

Age Effects Of Materialism Across The Lifespan
Many people put possessions and acquirements as their main focus at certain periods in their
lifespan. The value or lack thereof each individual puts on their possessions dictates the way
they act upon and percieve what is important at various stages in life. These values as they
change over the lifespan have great significance over the way individuals consume and their
overall happiness. The crucial need for possessions and acquistions to obtain a level of

HOUSING DEFINITION AND SUPPLY
Housings are fabricated through die injection molding. A resin is melted, injected, and stamped into
the die mold. The housing s function is to attach to the body of the vehicle, protect internal
components (cords, bulbs, etc.), and hold components in place so that the light functions as
designed. Each make/model has unique housing specifications with regard to size, durability, holes,
and necessary attachments to perform these duties.
As stated earlier, Firebird has the ability to produce housings in the molding division; however, of
the approximately 240 parts presently molded in Manufacturing IV, only 11 are housings. Firebird
also outsources production of housings to four central South Carolina molding firms: FPE, The
South Carolina Plastics Company (TOPCO), Central South Carolina Plastics (COPCO), and
Charleston Custom Plastics (WCP).

The Outsourcing of American Jobs Essay
The Outsourcing of American Jobs
The exporting of American jobs is an issue that is important and will become increasingly so as
more and more white collar jobs are shipped overseas. American companies in the past few decades
have been sending American jobs overseas paying residents of other countries pennies on the dollar
what they had paid American workers to do. This saves the companies millions of dollars on labor
costs but costs Americans precious jobs.
As the problem of job outsourcing becomes more of an issue in politics, elected officials like the
President and Congress will no longer be able to ignore the dilemma. The war in Iraq has been at the

Since outsourcing has begun effecting both party lines, Republican and Democrat officials will
be interested because members of congress are self interested. Congressmen who continue to
evade the issue and avoid taking a strong stance on this issue will lose votes when it comes to
election time and that doesn t serve in the best interest for any politician. The other big player in
this issue is big business. As labor is offered at cheaper rates overseas, it is very tempting for
businesses to take advantage of that resource. Saving money is a great way to raise profits and
stock values of companies. This brings up the hardest part of this issue. Americans own stock in
the big companies that outsource jobs, if the company does well then the stock does well and it
helps the investor. The average family makes between 33 to 45 thousand dollars a year. People
in this bracket generally rely on their job to provide income and security for their family, not the
value of stock. The middle class is taking the biggest hit and has the most to loose from
outsourcing. The middle class has traditionally been the backbone of America ever since WWII. It
has always been in any candidate s best interest to appeal to this group of voters.
There are many things on the American political agenda that

Papyrus Scrolls Of The Ancient World
Have you ever wanted to know more about the history of papyrus scrolls of the ancient world?
Well, you have come to the right place. This post will provide you with an overview that will
leave you with a general idea on the different aspects of the scroll from production to uses to
importance.
Introduction to the Scroll
A scroll was a roll constructed of material that ranged from papyrus to parchment. However, the
material taken from a papyrus plant predominately composed the scrolls of the ancient world. Since
3000 BC, the plant was native only to Egypt and considered the major distributor to the rest of the
Mediterranean world. On the other hand, when the papyrus plant was no longer cultivated as writing
material, the act caused the extinction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The quality was measured by fineness, firmness, whiteness, smoothness, and variation in
breadth. The difference in quality of papyrus allowed the variants to be used for different things.
The different grade of papyrus stemmed from the different parts of the plant being used and
where the sheets were manufactured. For example, the heretic grade came from the center of
the plant and was mostly used for religious texts. The amphitheatric grade originated from the
name of its manufacture place. The manufacture place was in Rome ran by Fannius, who was a
grammarian. He, in order to make better quality papyrus, added a third layer, making it finer.
The saitic grade of papyrus was eponymous with the city where the papyrus was manufactured
and consisted mainly of scraps, making it felt like bark. The taenotic papyrus was made from
papyrus that was near the outside skin and was not sold by its quality, but rather by its weight.
The emporitic papyrus was useless as writing material so it was used for envelopes or
merchandise wrapping paper by dealers. From antiquity, around 3000 scrolls survived with texts
ranging from treaties to medical knowledge to classical texts. The text was arranged into columns.
A vast majority of the papyri was literary in that they contained epics, dramas, prose, and history.
However, there were also commentaries, grammatical treatises, and technical knowledge. In
addition, many of surviving texts on papyrus are Greek and Latin literature. During antiquity, the
rolls were more associated with the classical elite as mass readership was uncommon and papyrus
could be very expensive, depending on its

our thoughts and emotions, to express ourselves, to entertain: we write to record words and events,
to communicate with others, to try and persuade others to believe as we do or to behave in certain

simple idea that crosses the mind, an event that brings back memories or a new thought that appears

How To Build Suspense In The Monkey s Paw
Nearly everyone has heard the phrase, Be careful what you wish for. These six simple words
have foreboding connotations, but are not taken seriously because granted wishes belong in
legends. However, those who read The Monkey s Paw by William Wymark Jacobs may
reconsider the saying; the story is terrifying, yet makes enough sense that the reader almost
believes it. These traits terror and near belief are signs of a horror story, but not the only ones. The
Monkeys Paw is a horror story because it meets the most crucial criteria for such a tale.
Suspense is essential to a horror story to keep the reader interested, and The Monkey s Paw has
an abundance of suspense. Much of the suspense comes from the question of whether the monkey
s paw will work, and how. Sergeant Major Morris, who gives the monkey s paw to the White
family, tells them the wishes come true in a way that might be considered a coincidence. Morris
also says another man had three wishes, and his third wish was to die. This shows the monkey s
paw will not grant wishes in a cheerful fairy tale way. Additionally, the reader has to wait almost
half the story before the monkey s paw clearly works. Suspense is also built on ... Show more

Essay On Athens Vs Sparta
Both Athens and Sparta hold great historic value for Greece and the world. Athens, the capital and
largest city in Greece was the symbol for freedom, art, and democracy. The city took its name from
the goddess Athena, the goddess of wisdom and knowledge. Sparta, a town near Evrotas River, was
the center of the Peloponnese in southern Greece. This Dorian Greek military state city was the
protector of Greece as it provided a large army for many years.
Both societies were very different in many aspects. Sparta was content with itself and provided its
army when required. Athens on the other hand wanted to take control of more and more land in
Greece. They could not defeat Sparta s army, however they had built a powerful navy which
protected Greece from the Persian threat during Xerxess invasion of Greece.

The government should support the readiness of job as many industries were facing a lack of
skilled labor. The Australian government after knowing the benefits of vocational education
made reforms in the system (West and Murphy, 2010). The strategies to be made for 2018 were
to improve the vocational training and produce skilled labor, provide assistance to industries
facing skills shortage, provide support to indigenous people so that they acquire skills, provide
assistance to increase Australian apprentice and providing training to the Australian indigenous
people so that they get local jobs. The reforms in the vocational sector mainly focus on better
quality and superior training to the people so that they cater to the needs of the employer. A
greater transparency is also maintained (Biddle, 2011). The investment made in a vocational
sector will help in developing skills. Action to 2013 suggests that through National Workforce
Development Fund, workforce may be developed in areas that require current and future skills.
Campaigning through Health Heroes will help to bring in more indigenous people in the labor
force. The Land Corporation support would likely ensure employment in Ayer Rock Resort to

The Milgram Obedience Study
Throughout history, many individuals have followed cruel leaders such as Adolf Hitler, Idi
Amin Dada, Leopold II of Belgium, who are responsible for a combined total of over 19,000,000
casualties (McLeod, Mishkov). A leader is supposed to be a person with confidence, skills,
knowledge, and power; however Adolf Hitler was a corrupt leader who was able to convince the
Germans that all Jews were bad and that all negative things happen because of the Jews. Adolf
Hitler was even able to reinterpret the Bible and make the Germans believe he was right. Humans
more easily obey a leader who is older, has a high education, and has authoritative power.
Another example is the The Milgram Obedience Studies (1963 1965). The Milgram
Obedience study was a experiment help by Stanley Milgram, subjects were told that they were
participating in a study on the effect of punishment on memory. One participant in the study the
learner ( Mr. Wallace real name Bob McDonough) was a confederate of Milgram and one was the
true subject the teacher . The teacher was told to shock the learner when the leaner gave a wrong
answer. The teachers were given a shock of 45 volts to convince them that the shocks were real. The
learner s response to the questions is scripted. At 150 volts the learner is heard asking that the
experiment stop. If the teacher denied continuing the experiment, the experimenter would say

Essay about Lowering Population In India And South Asia
Lowering Population in India and South Asia
The problem of overpopulation exists nearly everywhere, and if it does not currently exist, it will
in the near future. People are having several children, and that is greatly exceeding the death rate.
This problem is especially apparent in South Asia, and it is causing several problems such as
famine, epidemic, overcrowding, etc.
The country of India is in dire need of aid in the decreasing of their population. There are
approximately 25 births for each 9 deaths. That is nearly a 1.58% increase in population. The

would solely depend on deaths to decrease the population. To enforce the law, strict punishments
including required military service for the father and the new son or large fines can be created. But
limiting the amount of children allowed by law may seem kind of harsh. There are still other
methods of lowering surface population in India.
The Country of India has a GDP of 1.8 trillion dollars. A new tax dubbed, quot; The population tax

anyone to learn about safe sex, and anything else that needed to be there. Free contraceptives would

be done that other methods will be suggested.
Sterilization has a 99+% effectiveness rating, and although costly, will be given for free. Norplant
implants with the same effectiveness, will available. Birth control pills with a 97% rating will be

The demand of 3D films has continually increased over the past decade. The revenues of these
3D films have always been on a rise, which is an indication that more people are watching
movies in theatres. Reimagining Shakespeare s Othello as a 3D movie can also help to reboot
the story, especially among young people. The director of the movie can add or change some
aspects of the story that may not be appealing to the audience, and introduce new scenes to take
advantage of the 3D technology, and also to make the movie more interesting. 3D is best
enjoyed with scenes involving a lot of action, the director can therefore capitalize on the violence
that exists in the story, which is caused by jealousy and need for revenge. For instance, to add
some aspects of action in the movie, the director can introduce fights and other types of violence,
to make it thrilling and interesting at the same time. Individuals who already know the story and
the characters would also be curious to see Othello as a 3D movie. As Shakespeare s stories are
famous and widely known, the production of the movie would create some buzz, attracting new

The Changing Roles and Experiences of Probation Officers
Introduction
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, there were over 4 million adults on probation in the
United States in 2010. Today more and more agencies have shifted from simply monitoring an
offender s compliance to using evidenced based practices to reduce recidivism rates. The intense
involvement with offenders caused by this shift exposes officers to many new stressors that
previously did not exist. A recent study by Kirsten R. Lewis, M.Ed., Ladonna S. Lewis, Ph.D., and
Tina M. Garby, Psy.D., examined whether specific caseload events are associated with stressand
burnout among this career specialty using various survey instruments. The results confirmed 2 of
their hypothesis that officers who reported violent and sexual recidivism on their caseloads,
offender suicide, and threats and/or assaults in the line of duty scored significantly higher on
measures of traumatic stress and burnout... Length of service was also a contributing factor. The
authors report of job stress on probation officers is applicable to any human service professional
and especially supervisors, managers and administrators who have the capacity to make
meaningful change by creating training programs and establishing ways to deal with the negative
caseload events. The small study sample limited reliability of the results and more data is needed
to assess the overall problem. Ms. K. R. Lewis is a probation officer with the Maricopa County
Adult Probation Department and is an adjunct

That would also include importing and exporting goods to sister states. It would also help pay for
the transportation of those good so it would help purchase trains and planes and ships. When a

Cantigny Park Essay
Cantigny Park is an eye opening experience that provides visual aids which give a better
understanding of WWI and its significance to Robert R. McCormick. The McCormick family
altered the grounds of their home to become a public park to show the legacy that the McCormick
family left behind. Robert R. McCormick served in WWI, which had a great impact on his life that
is shown through the grounds of Cantigny Park. He served as the editor and publisher of the
Chicago Tribunefor forty four years, at which he made it a media giant by adding it to television
stations and putting it on the radio. The mansion that the McCormick family occupied is a
museum itself on the grounds, with its extravagance and countless artifacts. While the actual
museum on the grounds takes the public back to the war, where it gives a better understanding of
what the war was really like. The trip itself was very well put together, but could have had some
improvements to make the learning experience even better. The Cantigny Park grounds is a
memorable trip due to the better understanding one can have of WWI and the personal touches
added by Robert R. McCormickhimself.
Robert R. McCormick served in the National Guard in 1915 and then in the First Infantry Division

Response To Anti-Semitism

at various times over the last 1,700 years the Jews have been expelled from over 80 different
countries. Historians and experts have concluded there are at least six possible reasons. Racial

People Theory. Hello Mrs Greenberg and 6B, I am here today to talk to you about my response to

people would do such a thing. My three topics are that all religions originated in the Middle East

Radio And Record Labels Essay
Radio and record labels have both come a long way since when they were first invented. Radio s
came from being a great source of entertainment among those who were able to afford it. It was a
staple within the household. Sometimes the entire family would gather around the radio at a
particular time and listen to the boxing match live. Record labels still work under the same
concepts as they do today, rather you like them or not, they have created artist and disputed
many of the favorite hits that we listen to today. Unfortunately, both are facing its own decline.
Radio isn t as structured as it used to be. Record companies are constantly battling the same
forces that made them successful. Both industries face major crisis if they are not willing to
reinvent their platforms to a more stable format. So many people have had their hand in the
invention of the radio. So much that its development became hampered by legal battles over
patent rights to the various inventions. This all changed during WW1, and the U.S Navy
assumed responsibility for all relevant patents. This is why radio made a great advancement
during and after the first Word War. Before, radio was considered a blast of new technology.
Even though back then the radio only had a few channels available, and most stations had terrible
receivers. Today s radio receivers a far better, considering that the first ones were overlarge and had
problems with leaky batteries. In 1972, radios began to make some of their

Violent Video Games and Their Impact on Children
Violent Video Games and Their Impact on Children
Outline
Introduction
A. Thesis: Although there are some reports of such games terribly impacting children, most
research says that the violence in them is understood to be unrealistic, and thus not internalized and
regurgitated back through increased aggressiveness in behavior.
Reports Showing Violent Video Games Increase Aggression
Exposure to violent video games has been lined to increases in aggression.
Such reports have linked violent video games to both short and long term impacts
Reports Showing Little Impact on Children and Teens
However, more convincing evidence shows that it is only very young children who are affected,
and that older children and teens are relatively unaffected by the violence in their video games.
The reports which show stronger correlations are often flawed.
Even federal government research has failed to find a statistically significant correlation between
increased aggression and violence in video games.
Conclusion
Overall, violence in video games does not seem to impact children as negatively as many had
previously assumed. Violent Video Games and Their Impact on Children
How much is too much? When children are exposed to bloodshed and carnage in their favorite
video games is that too much for them to handle? There are definitely conflicting viewpoints on
just how much violence in video games impact children. Some believe that violence in video games

Voltaire s Use Of Satire In Candide
Mr. Boni chose this book for our class in order to provide us with a first hand example of the
views of the Enlightenment period philosopher, Voltaire. Throughout Candide, Voltaire s well
known satire, we are exposed to his sharp witted criticisms of the church, nobility, religion, and
philosophy. Using misfortune as well as comic relief, Candide, holds the interest of its readers
while educating them in Enlightened views. For the use of our current studies, this novel is a

it is surrounded. It represents the author s unabridged view on mankind s lack of necessary

Voltaire satirizes numerous social norms of his time using recurring themes throughout the novel.
With his every present sardonic writing, Voltaire addresses issues regarding religion, social
structure, women s rights, and unrelenting optimism. He ridicules religion for its corruption and
intolerance. No religion went unscathed as Voltaire took shots at many of the main sects of religion
including Protestantism, Catholicism, and Anabaptism. He also took shots at elitist nobility and the
unfair women s rights of the time, using irony to show the uselessness of the unjust systems and
privileges (or lack thereof). In addition, Voltaire made light work of philosophical optimism, an
idea highly popularized by German theorist Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibnitz. It was thought that
God created a perfect world and therefore, God would not cause anything to happen if not for a
greater outcome. Voltaire, an atheist in his own right, thought this absurd and wished to educate his
readers of this through his fast paced

  • 2. Solar Energy Is The Best Type Of Energy When you close your eyes and think of solar energy, what do you see? Your response is most likely something positive such as an innovative, efficient, and renewable step forward into the future. Solar is also thought of to be the best type of energy because the sun will never go away. Well, solar energy will have to battle it out with natural gas and oil in the near future. As the price of oil and natural gas continues to drop, solar energylooks less desirable as other sources become more affordable in the short term (Sanburn 38). Josh Sanburn, author for Time Magazine, does have a relevant point while discussing solar energy s competitors. The handful of solar energy s positives makes it easy for the green thumbed consumers of today to overlook the many negatives. The negatives are very important though when on the topic of something that could possibly determine the future of the whole world s energy productivity. The number one issue with the continuation of solar energy is the price. The main solar energy companies try to sell their panels by repetitively saying that the panels will save money in the long run. Yet solar energy was the most costly energy source for kW/hr in 2015. The rooftop solar craze is wasting billions of dollars a year that could be spent on greener initiatives. It also is hindering the growth of much more cost effective renewable sources of power. Solar energy is able to stay relevant because of the large amount of subsidies placed by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Nullification Crisis Significance The Nullification Crisis was significant. The Nullification Crisis started in 1828 when the Congress passed a very high tariff on manufactured goods from Europe. The Southerners started protesting against tariffs and called to secede from the United States. Since anger of tariffs continued to build in the South, the Congress passed a new, lower tariff in 1832, hoping that the protest in the South would die down. However, the South Carolinalegislature passed the Nullification act, an act refusing to pay the illegal tariffs of 1828 and 1832. If the federal government interfered then the South will continue calling for secession and the union will split apart. The significance of the Nullification Crisis was that it caused President Jackson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Understanding Cultural Identity Understanding Your Cultural Identity Children begin to develop a sense of identity as individuals and as members of groups from their earliest interactions with others (McAdoo, 1993; Sheets, 1999a) (Trumbull and Pacheco 9). The very idea of being able to understand your own culture can better you as a person and give you an even deeper understanding of life. Such cultural things you should understand is your beliefs, the types of food you eat, what types of ethnicity they belong to, and even where you live. These four things can give you a deeper understanding of your own culture. • 5. Rafe and Robin in Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus Essay Rafe and Robin in Marlowe s Doctor Faustus Rafe and Robin waltz into Christopher Marlowe s The Tragical History of D. Faustus in scene four and vanish three scenes later. Although they may appear trivial and even intrusive, Rafe and Robin bring much needed comic relief to this tragic play. Imitating Doctor Faustus actions unwittingly, this pair of ostlers illuminates Faustus misuse of power. They also reflect Faustus character by acting as his parallel self. Behind their clownish antics, Rafe and Robin highlight Faustus downfall and evil s power through comic relief, parody, and parallel. According to the Neo Classical view of tragedies, tragic action is the essence of the play; comic relief is often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the same scene, Robin confuses the Devil Balioll with Balio and Banio. Since Robin is able to conjure lewd yet intelligent puns, it is possible that he only pretends to mix up Balioll s name so that the Devil becomes a silly entity to be laughed at and not to be feared. Exposing Faustus sins to grotesque exaggeration, Rafe and Robin parody Doctor s magical tricks. Cole states that the representatives of the forces of evil and destruction are doomed before they begin; the more confident and boastful they are, the more ludicrous they become; any suffering they experience is but just and deserved (16). Indeed, as Faustus becomes more boastful of his mastery over the dark arts, Rafe and Robin s exaggerated imitations demonstrate the absurdity of his abilities. In sc.iv, immediately after Faustus declares his ambitions to become emperor of the world by learning from Mephastophilis, the clown Robin decides to become Wagner s pupil. This is a parody of serious action, and it undercuts the grandeur of Faustus dreams. Faustus marvels at the words of Valdes and Cornelius and daydreams about learning the dark arts from them. Rafe s naГЇve reply to his mentor Robin parodies Faustus wide eyed wonder (sc.vi, 37 40): O brave, Robin! Shall I have Nan Spit, and to mine own use? On that condition I ll feed thy devil with horse bread as long as he lives, of free ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Predictable stressors starts abruptly during the beginning phase of a marriage. Identity bargaining, loss of independence, new friends and relatives, and conflicts over career and domestic roles comes heavily into play at the beginning of a marriage. Childrearing stage, which normally comes later, is the second phase of predictable stressors. The birth of a child is a stressor, whether it s planned or not. Parents have to embark on years of childrearing, which at times can severely tax them financially. Having children can be expensive, from clothing to college, and psychologically draining as well. By denying reality, you are essentially protecting yourself from the having to face and deal with the unpleasant consequences and pain that accompany acceptance Repression There is a fine line between denial and repression. But where denial involves the outright refusal to accept a given reality, repression involves completely forgetting the experience altogether. With repression, your mind makes the decision to bury the memory in the subconscious, thereby preventing painful, disturbing or dangerous thoughts from entering awareness Reaction Formation With reaction formation, you are going beyond denial and behaving in the opposite way to which you think or feel. Typically, reaction formation is marked by a blatant display. For example, the man who preaches his disdain for homosexuality overtly may be a defense against confronting his own homosexual feelings. Father Wolf says killing man means sooner or later there will be the arrival of white men on elephants with guns and hundreds of brown men with gongs and rockets then, everybody in the jungle suffers . When Shere Khan first attacks the woodcutter s camp he is shown as incompetent. He burns his paw in the human s fire and he is heard to be mumbling and muttering savagely as he tumbled about . This is where we first hear of his dry, angry, snarly, singsong whine sounds. The alliteration here emphasises his anger and confusion. The description of how Shere Khan is whining shows how frustrated he is with Mowgli. He is portrayed as a tiger who is, unlike other tigers because of his untigerish howl and we are told he has been lame in one foot from his birth which shows that he is physically inferior to other tigers. He is also humiliated by Mother Wolf s strong use of language by describing her movement as she sprang forward, her eyes, like two green moons . Kipling uses language to contrast Shere Khan with other animals and Characters. Mowgli is described as soft and is also viewed as brave by Mother Wolf. How naked and how bold she says. This shows that Mowgli the hero is not dangerous. Bagheera is portrayed by Kipling as a beautiful animal who is inky black all over, but with the panther marking showing up in certain lights ... The book s classification as a memoir incited significant debate, and the authenticity of her representation of Chinese American culture was contested by Asian American scholars and authors. The Woman Warrior is ingenuitive in its manipulation of the autobiographical genre. Kingston integrates the value of storytelling in her memoir and relates it to dominant themes about silence, cultural authenticity, and the cultivation of identity. Throughout her work, Kingston reaches a variety of conclusions about the stories her mother told her by writing interpretations of her mother, Brave Orchid s, talk story . Kingston writes her initial version of the No Name Woman, who was raped, raided, and died an outcast, but Kingston determines that this telling does not fit her understanding of China. Therefore, Kingston entertains another hypothetical, that her aunt took a lover and saved him from shame by giving silent birth and not revealing the lover s identity (Kingston 11). Here, Kingston critically examines the inherited talk story of her mother to determine the meaning she should obtain from the death of her aunt. Her mother s conclusion is that she must not become pregnant, but Kingston is uncertain about the simplicity of her mother s story. In the No Name Woman, Kingston introduces the fictitious memoir structure that she utilizes through the variety of interpretations of her aunt s story. Consistently through the memoir, Kingston writes contrasting accounts of the same stories and imagines the stories of others to further her themes about silence, authenticity, and identity formation. Kingston begins The Woman Warriorby writing a story which started with her mother insisting that she must not tell anyone...what I am about to tell you. (Kingston 3). This was done to mitigate possible losses due to game rentals and game resellers such as GameStop. While this didn t really push in game purchases, it did set the tone for locking certain aspects of a game behind a paywall (Williams). The next step was to intentionally lock not only features, but content behind a paywall. In 2011, Rockstar introduced the first season pass for their game L.A. Noir. This season pass allowed a customer to buy all DLC, or downloadable content (any content that isn t included on the base game, but must be purchased and added to the game), as a big bundle. Usually, this bundle was at a discounted rate compared to buying all the DLC separately, and it incentivized fans to spend more money on the game, even if it meant paying for things they would never use. Unlike the online passes, the season pass was implemented into almost every major game released in 2011 and beyond including Borderlands 2, Destiny, and Evolve (Williams). With our lower costs, we could produce a more affordable product for our customers and thereby help to stay ahead of our competitors. Reduction of Waste: By maintaining our current method we are housing products that go unused and/or become obsolete. This causes us to sell product at a reduced price often less than cost or we must dump the product with no money gained at all. The JIT inventory model should help to address this situation and by housing fewer products in the warehouses we could address our customer needs quicker and be open to customized orders. Through reading Platos dialogue Phaedo, one gains perspective on Socratesconception of the body as primarily a prison. To prove this, Socrates introduces the Theory of Opposites, which states that all things in the world come out of their opposites: largeness out of smallness, loudness out of quietness, life out of death. He reasons that this proves that the soul is immortal and after death enters a new body. • 31. The Outsourcing of American Jobs Essay The Outsourcing of American Jobs The exporting of American jobs is an issue that is important and will become increasingly so as more and more white collar jobs are shipped overseas. American companies in the past few decades have been sending American jobs overseas paying residents of other countries pennies on the dollar what they had paid American workers to do. This saves the companies millions of dollars on labor costs but costs Americans precious jobs. As the problem of job outsourcing becomes more of an issue in politics, elected officials like the President and Congress will no longer be able to ignore the dilemma. Since outsourcing has begun effecting both party lines, Republican and Democrat officials will be interested because members of congress are self interested. Congressmen who continue to evade the issue and avoid taking a strong stance on this issue will lose votes when it comes to election time and that doesn t serve in the best interest for any politician. The other big player in this issue is big business. As labor is offered at cheaper rates overseas, it is very tempting for businesses to take advantage of that resource. Saving money is a great way to raise profits and stock values of companies. This brings up the hardest part of this issue. Americans own stock in the big companies that outsource jobs, if the company does well then the stock does well and it helps the investor. The average family makes between 33 to 45 thousand dollars a year. People in this bracket generally rely on their job to provide income and security for their family, not the value of stock. The middle class is taking the biggest hit and has the most to loose from outsourcing. The middle class has traditionally been the backbone of America ever since WWII. The quality was measured by fineness, firmness, whiteness, smoothness, and variation in breadth. The difference in quality of papyrus allowed the variants to be used for different things. The different grade of papyrus stemmed from the different parts of the plant being used and where the sheets were manufactured. For example, the heretic grade came from the center of the plant and was mostly used for religious texts. The amphitheatric grade originated from the name of its manufacture place. The manufacture place was in Rome ran by Fannius, who was a grammarian. He, in order to make better quality papyrus, added a third layer, making it finer. The saitic grade of papyrus was eponymous with the city where the papyrus was manufactured and consisted mainly of scraps, making it felt like bark. The taenotic papyrus was made from papyrus that was near the outside skin and was not sold by its quality, but rather by its weight. The emporitic papyrus was useless as writing material so it was used for envelopes or merchandise wrapping paper by dealers. From antiquity, around 3000 scrolls survived with texts ranging from treaties to medical knowledge to classical texts. The text was arranged into columns. A vast majority of the papyri was literary in that they contained epics, dramas, prose, and history. However, there were also commentaries, grammatical treatises, and technical knowledge. These six simple words have foreboding connotations, but are not taken seriously because granted wishes belong in legends. However, those who read The Monkey s Paw by William Wymark Jacobs may reconsider the saying; the story is terrifying, yet makes enough sense that the reader almost believes it. Suspense is essential to a horror story to keep the reader interested, and The Monkey s Paw has an abundance of suspense. Much of the suspense comes from the question of whether the monkey s paw will work, and how. Sergeant Major Morris, who gives the monkey s paw to the White family, tells them the wishes come true in a way that might be considered a coincidence.
