Final Movement Research Paper
Final Movement Reflection
When I first started movement class in January, I already had a good connection with my body.
However, I knew there was still a lot of work to be done. The most valuable lessons I learned
during the course, though there were many, were to not work so hard with my body, to be more
aware of my day to day, and the power of understanding yourself.
As a student with a business background, I tend to want to work hard. Before taking movement
this semester, I would occasionally notice my posture, and correct it to something more proper.
For example, I noticed how I keep my head forward, or how I would overuse my lower back
muscles. This was, however, where my body awareness ended. On the first day of class, Val got us

I said I would make it my purpose to walk with back body every time I came from the train to
school. When I first started, I had a lot of trouble. I would be aware of my back body, then after a
couple steps I would revert back to old habits. It was a constant battle between awareness and
unconsciousness. Val pointed it out that it is similar to meditation; you always have to bring
back awareness. As time went on I found that I could walk with back body for longer. However,
I did end up walking slower. I assumed that I was relearning to walk, so I would have to start
slow. The interesting thing was that the awareness of back body expanded beyond my walk to
school. Eventually, I started to walk with back body through hallways, or I would remember to
use back body when I was sitting. Moreover, I started to remember to use the Alexander
Technique more often in my everyday life. At this point in the semester, I am getting more and
more consistent with my practice. However, when I am busy, it tends to slip away. This practice
is another big part of why I m feeling less tense in troubled areas. I believe an actor must practice
awareness and their scales every day. This will allow for better habits to form. Therefore, when it
comes time to act, this work will happen

Analyzing Scientific Argumentation On The Conflict
Resolving The Conflict 1. Need To Elucidate Scientific Argumentation When a subject matter is
described as beyond logic, it is not meant illogical or that it completely lacks the usage of
argumentation of any kind. If that would have been the norm, Shri Vallabhacharya would not have
argumentatively defended the atomism of Jiva against the heterodox discipline propounded by
Jainism in Chit Prakran of shastrarth prakran nibandha (ि.दी. वन.

enhance the virtue of a learner. Similarly, when scriptures state something... Show more content on

Between the firing electrons and the wall there was a frame deployed to obstruct the passage of
electrons with two slits that allowed them to pass. Electrons, being particles should hit directly
behind the slit, producing particle like behaviour. Something like this However, the electrons
instead produced wave pattern, which is only possible when a single electron passes through both
the slits. Some of the electrons even hit the area directly behind the barrier. Something like this This
showed that electrons have wave particle duality like the Light and it exists in a superposition
which is a state of potential innumerable possibilities of existence. However, what further astounded
the physicists was when a detector was placed to measure the passage of electrons to learn how it
passes through both slits; the electrons immediately collapsed their wave function and reverted to
particle like behaviour. Physicists then decided to act smart and switched on the detector once the
electron had passed through the slit. But it seemed somehow the electrons knew that it was being
detected and it immediately switched to particle like behaviour by adopting the passage from one of
the either slit. In a nutshell, every time the electron was measured, it dropped its superposition and
wave function. What stumps the physicists is the fact that what exactly counts as measurement that
leads the electrons to change their course. There are no concrete

Introduction A key component of any ecosystem on Earth is the presence of plants. Within these
plants, variation and diversity are abundant. Plants can vary in many characteristics, such as leaf
structure, height, bark structure, and diameter at breast height. The culmination of this variety
among plants is termed the biodiversity of plants, which encompasses three realms: species
diversity, genetic diversity, and ecosystem diversity. Species diversity pertains to the variety of
species in a specific ecosystem. Genetic diversity refers to variation in specific traits among
individuals of the same species. Finally, ecosystem diversity refers to the variation of ecosystems
in a specific area. For purposes of this study, we will only focus on species diversity. Studying
species diversity of plants entails measuring the amount and size of different species in a given
area. The importance of this type of study stretches far beyond observation and results. Species
diversity among plants in an ecosystem is vital to the sustainability of that ecosystem. An
ecosystem with greater species diversity uses its resources more efficiently, making it more
productive. In addition, greater plant diversity leads to greater community biomass due to reduced
nutrient loss and increased carbon reserves (Tilman et al., 1997). Our study primarily

Quebec Nationalism Essay
Although Canada can be defined as a nation state, its vast landscape means many people are faced
with different views and mindsets. Source one simply shows the differences within the nation of
Canada. Eastern and Western Canada, because of their geographical differences, can be faced with
contending loyalties when it comes to some nations aspects of life. Different lifestyles under the
same set of government creates a physiological barrier between a nation. The source also shows the
differences in Quebecnationalism compared to the rest of Canada. Some groups like the FLQ or the
Front for Liberation of Quebec are known for their extremist views of Quebec nationalism. The
small group called the FLQ was active in the 1960 s and 1970 s and they... Show more content on

The Mohawk that were protesting to protect their traditional land, were bombarded with thousands
of aggressive army members. The peaceful standoff turned violent and bloody when the army made
contact with the protesters. Both sides of the standoff would be faced with conflicting loyalties
because of their culture and nationalities. The Mohawk would be conflicted between defending
historical property or being nationalistic to Canada. In the same view, the army would want to
follow orders but could be conflicting between standing up against fellow Canadians. The source
shows the tension between the contending groups, but also shows how each party felt about the
matter. Their faces show the pain that is felt because of the land claim. When the government made
the choice to expand a golf course onto the Oka land, even after Mohawk people formed
complaints, they were cutting all ties with the Aboriginal group and creating tension within a

Nose Cone Designs Lab Report
The experiment conducted was to observe how changing factors, including nose cone designs and
volume of water would affect a water rockets maximum vertical displacement and the forces
involved. It was hypothesised that the round cone would travel a greater distance in comparison to
the square and pointed cones. Another assumption that was made was the water rocket with the 750
ml volume of water would be the most effective and would travel the greatest distance in
comparison to the 500ml and 1000ml volumes of water. As seen from the results collected, it
suggests that these hypotheses were supported and matched the expected outcomes with
experimental errors and uncertainties.
Table 1 illustrates the collected measurements for max height reached(m), max velocity reached(m
/s), acceleration (m/s^2) and drag subjected on the water rocket with differing nose cone designs.
These results show the round cone had an acceleration of 25.22 m/s^2, consequently, it had the
least amount of drag of 19.54N. In comparison the square cone had the greatest acceleration of
36.52 m/s^2, thus, it had the highest drag of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All six motions are a parabolic motion. The r^2 values suggest this as they are close to 1. This is
to be expected as water rockets use the theory of projectile motion. An object that is projected will
continue to be in motion by its own inertia and is influenced by the downward force of
gravity(Berkeley Engineering, unknown). Rockets apply this theory as once they are propelled by
the initial thrust it will continue to move in an upward motion until the direct force is stopped, then
it will follow a path identical to that of a projectile motion, in which the gravity acts to return the
rocket back to the ground. The motion of the rocket can be described using a simple quadratic
function (polynomial of 2

Frantz Fanon Research Paper
Rather, Fanon s holistic discussion of the process of decolonization echoed several familiar themes,
providing activists a reference point of reorientation during a time of increasing disillusionment and
alienation (motives of whites). (misinterpretation a larger us problem that was not restricted to
panthers). To better illustrate why Fanon s work stroke a chord with many activists, we first need
to consider Fanon s contribution to the study of the psychological effects of anti black racism and
his concept of decolonization. Born and raised in Martinique, Frantz Fanongrew up in a well to do
middle class environment. His mother in particular took great care that her son was well versed in

Abortion Research Paper
Abstract The topic covered in this research paper is abortion. This paper looks into the history of
abortion, the pro life view of abortion and the pro choice view of abortion. Under history of
abortion the information included is the time line of significant events of abortion such as
becoming legal, also different ways in ancient times women would try to use abortions. The
upgrading of technology making abortion safer and even if abortion was illegal women would
still find a way to abort a baby are also covered under the history of abortion. Under pro life choice
for abortion looks into abortion murder, the rights of human and the rights of the unborn and that a
women doesn t have a right to terminate her own fetus. Under pro choice... Show more content on

Pro choice is for female activists and their beliefs on women taking control of their own body
and making their own decisions. The other side of the debate in abortion is pro life, which is
defined as murder, killing an innocent baby which has no say. It has been reported that anti
abortionists relate having an abortion to murdering someone. They believe that a murder is
intentional and so is an abortion because you are planning to abort the baby (Currie, 2000,103).
Results have shown that people who advocate for Pro Life primarily are Christian or Catholic
members because of the Bible. In the Bible, it does not say directly that abortion is not permitted
it makes references to make it clear that God felt very strong about the fact that a fetus or embryo
is still considered a human. It suggests that God creates the baby s life well its in the womb and it
also says that the same penalty should be giving to someone who causes the death of the child in
the womb as to someone who commits murder (Frechet, 2009). As you can see there is two very
strong definitive sides to the debate of abortion, both having strong arguments. History Abortion has
been known since the ancient times. Women in all cultures have used it as a method of birth
control, regardless of whether the culture officially permitted it. Over many centuries women
wishing to terminate a pregnancy have drunken poisonous liquids, rubbed certain herbs on their
stomachs, or even attempted to pierce

Character Analysis Of Irresponsible Dale In Striking Out
Alcoholic, Irresponsible, and manipulative. These traits are of Dale who was a large influence,
but a bad one at that. These traits unfortunately reflect on the other characters within the book
Striking out by Will Weaver. In this book the main characters including Billy Baggs, Heather,
and Gina are all poorly influenced by a antagonistic person, Dale Schwartz, who was not once a
good influence to anyone within the story. Firstly Dale is being his irresponsible self who never
thinks of the consequences of his actions before he does any of them throughout the story. For
example Dale gives minors alcohol without thinking of the consequences. Now, to show just how
foolish he is, when he gives Dany alcohol he then says; I don t know what gets... Show more content

voice sounded funny, like she wasn t herself now . That last quote just goes to show how much
of a poor influence Dale was and how manipulated children to lie for him. After that dale then
threatens children with his rifle and is even condescending to them when he says; You ain t gonna

Social Darwinism And Natural Selection
It is almost undeniable that the technologies cause rapid changes in human relationships, cultures,
and societies. While it enormously facilitates us in nearly every aspect of our life, such changes
also create consequences that we do not yet realize. Almost all of us know Darwinism and Natural
Selection in the biological field, but we often overlook the similar phenomena in the social aspect.
In fact, resemble to the way we adapt to our physical environment, we also adapt to our social
environment in order to survive and excel in our social relationships. Such adaption is called Social
Darwinism. Because technologies have significantly influenced our social environment, humans are
forced to adapt not only to technologies, but also to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason behind such decision is that unless in urgent situations, other people expect them to text,
the technology that is more prevalent and requires less effort to respond than phone (Turkle 375).
Although Tara and Leonora are discontent, but do not feel they have a choice. This is where
technology has brought them (Turkle 375). From those examples, we can easily observe that
because the notions of using certain technology have already became parts of our general social
roles, people can no longer resist the influence of it regardless of our feeling.
In the meantime, we are also forced to mentally adapt popularity and efficiency, the core values of
modern technologies. In analogy, humans evolve (in the bigger and smaller scale) not only because
of our side environment, but also the pressure under the notion that only the fittest among us can
survive. In the comparison between phone calls and texts, texts are not any more technologically
advanced than phone calls are. However, we in general still prefer texts, and intentionally or
unintentionally make others around us use them because of the efficiency behind them. Moreover,
when the popularity of texts is accumulated, such preference becomes further irreversible. Back to
the context of expectations and social roles, we enjoy popularity as the outcome of pluralism, the
conformity of social roles and expectation. In

Pros And Cons Of Raising The Driving Age Of 18
The current driving age of sixteen is implemented in almost every state in the United States.
Most states have become accustomed to the current driving age, but recently there are certain
states that believe that the legal driving age should be raised due to various reasons. The main
argument for most states is that sixteen year old s are not mature enough and lack the
preparation to handle the responsibility to drive safely. Teenagers under the age of eighteen
should be required to wait longer to get their license and should be more prepared before getting
their license. Raising the age was not an idea based on opinions. Over the years many people
and organizations have recorded facts and statistics to support their claims. An example shown
on CBS News, shows that More than 5,000 U.S. teens die each year in car crashes. The rate of
crashes, fatal and nonfatal, per mile driven for 16 year old drivers is almost 10 times the rate for
drivers ages 30 to 59, according to the National Highway Safety Administration (CBS NEWS). One
huge influence on the topic was the Insurance Institutes for Highway Safety, they created a
seventeen page memo filled with statistics and examples of how raising the age is a necessity. This
is not the first attempt to use statistics to support the appeal to raise the age. The Seattle Times
states, The example the institute uses most prominently is New Jersey, the only state with a
minimum driver s licenseage of 17. The report cited a study from 1992 96 in which the rate of
crash related deaths among 16 and 17 year olds was 18 per 100,000 in New Jersey, compared
with 26 per 100,000 in Connecticut, which had a minimum driver s license age of 16 and 4 months
(Willette). Overall the argument that raising the age will result in less teen deaths while drivingis
highly justified. There are frequent examples and a huge amount of research that proves that
younger drivers are more likely to cause harm or damage than an older, more experienced driver.
One crucial evidence used in the case to raise the driving age is the mental stage teenagers are in
at this age. Teen brains at sixteen aren t as developed as an eighteen year old brain. This is
showcased in a study on the Chicago Tribune that

A Painting That I Observed From The Norton. Simon Museum
I.Norton Simon Museum
II. Introduction A. This research paper will be analyzed of a painting that I observed from the
Norton Simon Museum. It s the painting of Alcibiades on His Knees Before His Mistress, by
Louis Jean Francois Lagrenee. The reason I chose this painting is because for me it was different
from all other paintings I viewed in the museum. To me it was different because it depicts an image
of masculinity as power, and at the same time femininity as inability and hopelessness. In this
research paper I will be analyzing the purpose, context such as race and gender, and the history of
the painting. In addition, I will be comparing this painting with a different painting that it s similar
with its historical context from the Exploring Art textbook on the chapter Race, Gender, Clan, And

Second Temple Influence On The Old Testament
INTRODUCTION The Bible and its history are highly connected as we study the work of God
throughout the Old Testament. The Old Testament and the human history reflected the perfect
plan of God for humanity. Likewise, the New Testament; therefore, serves as an inevitable
evidence of God s grace. Though the voice of prophets was absent during the Second Temple
period as it was described as the silent years, the work of God was still continued among His
people. The LORD revealed Himself throughout the time in different discourses. This paper will
begin with the definition of the terminology of Second Temple period. Then it will aim at the
survey of the influence by various relevant events, people, and groups during the Second Temple
period in chronological order, starting with the Persian period and Israel s return from exile to
the destruction of the Second Temple in AD 70. In addition, an attempt will be made to focus on
the specific period of the Roman Peace Period and its impact on the first century world of the
Jews and their expectation of the Messiah. DEFINITION OF SECOND TEMPLE PERIOD

Health Behavior Change Project
In everyday life many people develop habits, but it is never too late to attempt to change that bad
habit to live a healthier life. For this behavioral change project, I was asked to choose a health
behavior that I would like to change for the better. So, I decided that I wanted to increase the
amount of water I was consuming each day. The standard recommendation on how much water an
individual should consume is about 64 ounces daily. However how much a person should drink is
more individualized then one might assume. Therefore, for this particular project my goal was to
at least consume 64 ounces of water daily as a baseline starting point. I also had to consider days
when I worked out. So, I decided that I would attempt to increase that amount... Show more content

Since, I have been working on my fitness and health goals over the last year, I of course have
needed to start drinking more water. Yet, I still have not been able to get myself to drink the
daily recommended amount of water. Therefore, there are a number of reasons that support my
reasoning for wanting to increase my daily water intake. For instance, I want to incorporate
drinking more water, because I know that it plays such an essential role in a persons overall
health. Changing this behavior will ultimately benefit me in now and in the future. Also, not
drinking enough water fatigues the body and muscles, especially for those that are actively
exercising. Since, I have been incorporating more exercise into my daily routine, it is important
that I also incorporate at least the recommended daily water intake if not more. Another
significant factor is that water is essential to organ health and function. Therefore, in order for
my organs to function properly I must be consuming the proper amount of water. That is why, I
would like to make this behavior change in my life now, so that I could live a long and healthy
life. As I reflect back on the experiences I encountered while trying to change my water
consumption, I have to admit that overall I had a positive experience. I learned a lot about myself,

Indian Response To The Us Rebalancing Strategy
The Indian Response to the US Rebalancing Strategy
India has been considered as a crucial factor in the US Rebalancing Strategy. On a visit to India,
former US Secretary of Defence Leon Panetta referred to India as the lynchpin of the US Strategy in
Asia. Yet another US government report stated that, The United Statesis also investing in a long
term strategic partnership with India to support its ability to serve as a regional economic anchor
and provider of security in the broader Indian Ocean region. With the US pushing for closer ties
with the country, India on the other hand has been quite observant of the changing geopolitical
scenario in its surrounding and has taken a pacifist approach so far. India s former Defence Minister
A. K Antony, in response to Panetta, highlighted the necessity to enhance the multilateral security
architecture in the Asia Pacific, but at the same time also emphasised that the necessary steps
should be taken at a pace comfortable to all the countries concerned .
In order to further understand India s stance on the issue, it would be interesting to observe and
analyze the following table in which four foreign policy approaches were estimated with respect to
the Indian response within the country towards the US Rebalancing Strategy. They are laid in the
table below along with various other factors that were taken into consideration :

External Stakeholders Of Tesco PLC And RSPCA
External Stakeholders of Tesco PLC and RSPCA External stakeholders are stakeholders who are
not as involved within Tesco PLC and RSPCA as much as the internal stakeholders but are
involved in some way. Suppliers of Tesco PLC The suppliers of Tesco PLC are interested in the
level of customers. As the suppliers will be able to sell more stock such as food to cover the
number of customers at Tesco PLC. Therefore, there will be more awareness for the supplier so
more work can come to the suppliers. Meaning that the supplier will earn more revenue from
being more well known due to supplying stock to a business as big as Tesco PLC. The suppliers
would also be interested in maintaining relationships with Tesco PLC and to have the best
interest deal. And finally, to be paid on time so then the suppliers will trust Tesco PLC on future
orders. A supplier at Tesco PLC may have conflicts with other suppliers over sales. For example,
other suppliers may sell similar stock such as food for similar prices. This is a conflict because
the suppliers at Tesco PLC can lose out on orders which will mean less revenue for the suppliers.
Another conflict may be with the managers on incorrect orders or deliveries. For example, being
delivered the wrong sort of stock. This is a conflict because the suppliers providing a different
stock will mean that Tesco PLC will have to return them and wait for the correct stock. Meaning
Tesco PLC will miss out on profit and more sales. Also, if the incorrect

The Second Set of Doors at the Baptistery
The maintenance and completion of the Baptistery of San Giovanni, one of the oldest and most
significant buildings in Florence, was entrusted to the Arte del Calimala Guild. This wool
merchants guild was the oldest of Florentine guilds and was extremely powerful and wealthy. This
wealth and power was due in large part to the fact that Florencewas the fabric capitol of Italy. The
Baptistery was dedicated to Florence s patron saint John the Baptist. Consequently, the first set of
doors created by Andrea Pisano in 1336 depicted scenes from the life of Saint John the Baptist and
was installed on the east or main entrance side. Plans for the other two sets of doors were delayed

Documents indicate that Ghiberti and his stepfather, Bartolo di Michele, signed the contract
together. The contract stated that Ghiberti must complete three panels a year. However after
several years only four panels were finished, this was due to the number of commissions Ghiberti
was working on at one time. Contracts required that the artist work on one piece of art at a time,
Ghiberti disregarded what the contract stated, working on numerous pieces at any given time. This
prompted the Calimala guild to enforce a new contract that caused Ghiberti to be the sole contractor
and held him to stricter terms. The Annunciation, Nativity, Adoration of the Magi, Baptism of
Christ, Agony in the Garden, were most likely cast before 1407. Between 1407 and 1413 the
following were completed, the Fathers of the Church and the Evangelists, Christ among the
Doctors, The Temptation of Christ in the Desert, The Crucifixion, The Last Supper. The panels that
were made after 1414 included, The Expulsion of the Money Changers from the Temple, The
Entry into Jerusalem, Christ before Pilate, and The Raising of Lazarus, and the heads of the
prophets. The dates these panels were completed are visible because of the changes in Ghiberti s
artistic style and technique. At each intersection of the doors Ghiberti a carved head of important

Catholics Confession Of Beliefs
Catholics believe that there are three ways to express the Christian faith: through the confession
of beliefs, in spiritual practices and ways of beliefs....and in a code of ethic (Groome 174). The
confession of beliefs is the first step to becoming a Christian. This step requires individuals to
believe in a higher power and form a relationship with the higher power. A confession of beliefs
requires the attendance to a local church, to help build a relationship with Godand Jesus. Jesus may
play the most important role in this stage because he walked in the life of a human and understands
the struggles that individuals face. When someone is scared to talk with God they can speak with
Jesus because he is understanding. Spiritual practices and

Medusa
The myth of Medusa is one of the most told myths throughout history. It seems like a simple idea
of how society perceives ugliness. The myth may be saying that truly hideous people deserved the
monstrous things that are coming to them, yet there is more to the story and image of this woman.
People have to look into what happened to her that society perceives her as hideous.Society has to
think about whose fault was it for her becoming a monster. People should look into the true
meaning of Medusa. Medusa has a strong impact on Greek society mythology too? with her

There are some images that one can use to show Medusa, so it depends on what one wants to

here is that Medusa does not look that ugly. In most pictures, Medusa just looks like a beautiful
woman who has snake for her hair. It seems strange that society and history remember her as
ugly. One reason is because of the snakes in her hair. Images show that her hair is full of many

snakes and fear them. In many cultures such as Christianity, snakes are evil. Satan took the form
of one in the Garden of Eve to seduce Adam and Eve to commit sin. It works and mankind is
driven out of the Garden forever ( Are snakes evil? Does the Bible say anything about snakes? ).
The image of a snake makes many shiver in fear of it. Most of the Greek myths show snakes in a

Essay about New Learning Strategies for Generation X
New Learning Strategies for Generation X
Generation X workers resent the labels that have been used to describe them: slackers, arrogant,
disloyal, having short attention spans. In fact, these descriptions are less likely to reflect the
behaviors of individuals in Generation X than the perceptions of managers who are not attuned to
new ways of learning. This Digest investigates ways in which the learning characteristics of the
young adults classified as Generation X reflect the need for the new teaching and learning strategies
promoted by cognitive scientists, such as learning in context, cooperative learning, and real world
application of knowledge.

Ways of Learning
Life experiences shape the way people learn. The following characteristics, which have been
attributed to Generation Xers, offer insight into new ways of learning and highlight the need for
new approaches to teaching:
Having grown up with both parents working/furthering their education, Xers are used to getting
things done on their own. Hence, they tend to be independent problem solvers and self starters.
They want support and feedback, but they don t want to be controlled.
Because many of them grew up with computers, Generation Xers are technologically literate. They
are familiar with computer technology and prefer the quick access of Internet, CD ROMs, and the
World Wide Web as their sources for locating information.
Conditioned to expect immediate gratification, Generation Xers are responsive. They crave
stimulation and expect immediate answers and feedback.
Skeptical of society and its institutions, Generation Xers are focused. As learners, they don t want to
waste time doing quantities of school work; they want their work to be meaningful to them. They
want to know why they must learn something before they take time to learn how (Caudron 1997, p.
22).
Knowing that they must keep learning to be marketable, Generation

Staples Case Analysis Critique
1. What is Staple s competitive advantage in the online marketplace? The critique team agrees that
Staples.com s competitive advantage in the online marketplace is Staples brand name. The analysis
team correctly points out that 75% of the market is being served by generic retailers, so that
Staples.com can use Staples brand name to better reach into that portion of the market. Staples has
an established customer network under its brand name from which Staples.com can gain wallet
share. Staples.com also has Staples customer demand information and consumer feedback
databases. The critique team would add that the click and mortar can use Staples established

The critique team would add that there is likely to be cannibalization of the catalogue business
because the models are so closely related. Staples should commission a study to find estimated rates
of cannibalization so that an orderly response can be implemented.
The analysis team is also correct that Staples.com should focus on market share over wallet share.
The market is very large and growing fast. The critique team would add that by capturing online
market share ahead of competitors, Staples.com can reduce the cost of overcoming competitor
customer loyalty in the online market. The switching cost will still be absent for many customers
that are new to the internet office supplies market.
The critique team would add that Staples catalogue business increased wallet share by a factor of
three. This is the very business that will likely be cannibalized in the ordinary course of business
by opening the online store. Staples should not spend too much money on trying to increase wallet
share when it will likely be transitioning between business units. However, Staples should still take
the opportunity to market services as a way to expand customer wallet. All marketing expenditures
on promoting new services market share will spill over into wallet share. Any wallet share
campaign on services should be lower priority than market share marketing.
3. Do you think that Staples.com

The Pros And Cons Of Eating
Kohen looked up at the waitress. She was about their age, maybe a little older, with sandy blond
hair streaked with a purple that matched the plasma flow beneath her. She had striking green eyes
that complemented her flushed cheeks and wore a short black skirt with buttons on the side with a
vibrant, tight red blouse.
Meford ordered a Professor s Regret right off the bat and asked for a menu. Kohen smiled, guess
he wasn t planning to take it easy tonight for there was no stronger drink. The Professor s Regret

I guess the residents of our fair city still do need a place to unwind and kick back, Kohen replied.
Indeed, and what about that waitress! Whoa, where else in our fair city are you going to find a
girl like that? Mmm, purple hair and revealing attire, Meford said adoringly.
It was true most people inside Minerva did dress what would seem more conservatively, but it
was just more practical attire. The clothes that the waitress was wearing were hard to come by and
were part of the atmosphere of the Solstice. People came here to escape the glowing and humming
of the force fields and the scholastic life they had chosen and cherished.
Half way through their dinner and two Professor s Delights later for Meford, the chandelier
doors opened and entered Bergess and three of her best friends. The four of them were hardly
ever seen apart and were the envy and desire of every patron in Solstice. Eyes of jealous
girlfriends and wanting boyfriends darted back and forth from the door to the company they had
come with. Meford being a little tipsy slapped Kohen on the shoulder and said a little too loud,
She s here man, make your move.
Kohen glanced over to the door where the ladies had arrived only to see them disappear into the
crowd towards the bar. Kohen, not wanting to make a scene, told Meford to lower his voice and
play it cool. Meford apologized and took another bite of his tuber. Kohen took another sip of his

American Settlers Vs Indians
One colony should be particularly noticed, Pennsylvania, for how unusually good they were to the
indigenous population of America: William Penn openly admitted for the Indians the right to land
ownership.
While Penn led the colony, Pennsylvanians lived in peace with the indigenous population. Some
Indians, such as the Tuscarora and Shawnee, even resorted to Pennsylvania to settle conflicts with
other, more militant colonies. Penn believed that white settlers should pay compensation to the
Indians of their ancestral lands. His government regulated other relationships with Indian tribes,
including commercial. Unfortunately, when Penn left his post in the colony, an influx of European
immigrants practiced violent measures against indigenous inhabitants.

Women Are Not Objects For Women
Women are NOT Objects For as long as many can remember, women have had a difficult time
dealing with things that men have been able to do with ease. For example, throughout history, it
has always been said that men were the only ones allowed to vote for their future president,
whereas women were not. Another example was back in the 60 s when women were advertised
with sexist jobs such as being house wives while men were to be treated courteously (Sex Appeals
in Advertising). With that said, when women were getting noticed a lot more, many men found it
difficult to accept that since men basically ruled over women. However, currently, the laws and
regulations that women have are completely different than how they were before but women are
still fighting a common trend that occurs throughout the entire world. Women are seen as sexual
objects to men when they desire pleasure which allows for men to control the situation. Therefore,
should women be objectified as sexual objects and caregivers whereas males not so much? I will be
answering that throughout this essay.
With that said, I will be arguing two things; the first being that women are not intended to be a
sexual object to bring a certain pleasure to men, and secondly the Catholic Church should not have
to justify that a woman s purpose in life is only to procreate a future life. With that said, I will be
focusing on two main authors. The first author goes by the name of Miguel De La Torre and his

The Stranger Absurdism
The Stranger focuses on the character of Meursault, a man whose perspective cannot be understood
by those around him. His neutral character is created by Albert Camus to reveal many themes and
paradoxes within the text. The title itself has its own significant meaning, and the characters and
themes within the text can reveal its meaning to the novel. The title The Strangerreveals Meursault s
strange character stemming from absurdismafter being isolated from everyone, as well the stranger
within those who judge him throughout the novel.
Meursault acts apart from everyone else in The Stranger, making him strange and different from
everyone else. This connects to the theme of isolation and how Meursault deals with it. His

Although Meursault begins to have realizations of his actions and his own self, he is still being
judged by everyone as a stranger according to his actions in Part 1, a man who had no reasoning
or explanation behind anything he did. The reason Meursault shot the arab multiple times does
not exist, he had no reason to shoot him, but he just did. This once again shows absurdism,
because there is no explanation for his actions, and this disturbs the jury even more, and they
harshly judge him. Meursault is not the only stranger though. As he was seen as a stranger by
those who were judging him in Part 2, he saw those same people as strangers too. In Chapter
three, Meursault was under a ton of pressure in the court sessions, and as everyone was staring at
him, he could not recognize a single face. Everyone was a stranger to him, and With the crowd
and stuffiness of the air ... was feeling a bit dizzy (Camus 52). As Meursault was unable to
recognize anyone, he became uncomfortable. It is also important to recognize that in Part 2,
Meursault does not name anyone, unlike Part 1. He only names people by their role, such as
magistrate or prosecutor. He is once again isolated from everyone in Part 2, and they are all
strangers to him as he is being judged for his murder. Absurdism and isolation show their role in
making Meursault, as

The Charge of the Light Brigade and Attack Essay
The Charge of the Light Brigade and Attack The Charge of the light Brigade by Alfred Lord
Tennyson and Attack by Siegfried Sassoon are two very dissimilar poems. Both of them are on
the same topic of war but have many contrasts in how they treat the subject matter, war. The main
difference between these two poems is the audience that they were written for. Tennyson, as poet
laureate, was written for public reading, but Sassoon s work which showed more emotion and
feeling, was therefore more of a private poem. The poems tone and mood are very different.

While time ticks blank on their busy wrists. The language in the two poems is different. The
poets use different literary terms. Tennyson begins his poem by using anaphora in the opening
lines, Half a league, half a league, half a league onward. Anaphora is the repetition of certain
words or words to obtain a rhythmic pattern. In this historic war, the men charged at the enemy
guns on horseback, so this repetition in Tennyson s opening lines could be associated with the
sound of galloping horses. Tennyson uses this again when he writes, Cannon to the right of
them, Cannon to the left of them, Cannon in front of them. Tennyson also uses rhetorical
questions in his poem, for example, Was there a man dismay d? and When can their glory fade?
These are questions to which no answer is required, and add dramatic effect to the poem. Then
he uses the phrase, The Valley of Death, to describe the valley in which the charge took place.
This phrase is taken from the Bible ( Psalm 23). In other translations of the Bible ( The Good
News Bible), it is translated as, the deepest darkness . Tennyson uses it with dramatic effect as if
the men were ordered to go into the deepest darkness to charge down the cannons. During the
Victorian period of history the Bible would have been important to the Victorian people and so the
poem appealed to their cultural knowledge. Tennyson also uses other terms to

The Value Of Life In Hamlet s Hamlet
Everyone has been led to believe that all lives are equal, and they are however, in terms of
monetary value, lives are not equal. Aside the ethics about assigning value to the live it is still
done. The justice system tries to resolve this loss by using unjust means. Life should not be
given a value in any sort of currency, it is is not right as there is no way to put a price on
something as priceless as life. Even if the life of a person is affected by an illness, their worth
should not be decreased. All lives are equal, some people need more help than others and it should
be given if and when deserve such help. The valueof life has been contemplated throughout history,
such as Shakespeare s (1599) play, hamlet; in which Hamlet s... Show more content on

It is not right to assign value to the life of a person, even a man with training could not help but be
bothered with how wrong that is. Compensation for a death would be rather problematic,
distinctions in the compensation would only fuel the hurt and grief of the survivors knowing that
their family was worth only a certain amount.
In Hamlet s soliloquy, Hamlet is contemplating the differences between life and death, he is
suffering in conflict and therefore sees suicide as an option to escape pain. Hamlet compares
death to an eternal slumber, to die, to sleep to sleep perchance to dream . The suffering he faces
impacted how much he valued his own life however, not all people think the same way. In Chris
Jones interview of Roger Ebert: The Essential Man , it is explained that Roger s salivary glands
were partially removed...the cancer surfaced yet again...a section of his lower jaw was
removed...his carotid artery, burst...behind his chin there was a hole the size of a plum , he
could no longer eat or drink and he had lost his voice entirely. Even in all of his suffering when he
is writing, he says my problems become invisible and I am the same person I always was. All is
well. I am as I should be . Despite the fact that he is both facing an illness and suffering he clearly
values his own life. Unlike Hamlet s interpretation of a dream, Roger exclaims that in his dreams
he s never had cancer. In

Victory of the North

Victory of the North
There are many causes that led to the victory of the North, as well as many effects that follow their
victory. Three important causes that led to the victory of the North are economic growth, secession,
and the election of President Abraham Lincoln. Three important effects that followed the victory of
the Northern States in the American Civil Warare emancipation, a new financial system, and
political freedom.
The Civil War of America has been discussed as the first modern war of the new industrial age.

They continued to adopt a constitution of their own. Then they chose Jefferson Davis from the

The first effect of the North s victory over the South is emancipation. Even though slaves were
technically freed through contraband , Lincoln continued to persist that this fights intent is to save
the Union, not to free the slaves. But, before eighteen sixty two, Lincoln considered emancipation
as being the next step necessary to win the war. On July twenty second eighteen sixty two, Lincoln
unveiled a draft of the Emancipation Proclamation to his cabinet. It proposed emancipation of all
slaves in rebel areas on January 1st, eighteen sixty three. The Secretary of State William H. Seward
agreed with Lincoln s initial draft, but he warned President Lincoln to wait till the Union had won a
major victory before introducing the proclamation to the public. In eighteen sixty two President
Lincoln got his opportunity to do so, when the Union was victorious in the Battle of Antietam. On
September twenty second President Lincoln officially issued the Emancipation Proclamation to the
public. The Proclamation warned the Confederate states that if they did not surrender by January
first, eighteen sixty three, their slaves would be freed.

But at a critical level of analysis, it can be said that there have been many distributional
‎impacts which means that competition levels in the market rose and businesses experienced
more ‎rivalry. As the years have passed since the 1940s, the pressure of migration has increased
and the ‎impact of immigration on the UK local communities have also been obvious
especially at a time ‎of rapid change that Britain is going through continually from time to time.
This is why countries ‎need to maintain the laws and policies for migration and control the
negative effects (Ham, 2010, ‎p. 152).‎
Migration has taken place in a number of countries which had opportunities in the labour
‎market. However, due to this migration, the prominent labour markets such as that of the UK
‎have been overcrowded which has resulted in the reduction of wages. The impact of
immigration ‎on the labour market is rather a challenging task which is dependent on a number
of factors. ‎Some of the important factors are the characteristics of the migrants including skill
level, family ‎composition, age distribution, health status, temporary or permanent immigration,
and fertility ‎patterns. From these characteristics, the skill level is one of the main factors
which determine the ‎impact on the labour markets. Immigrants that are highly skilled tend to
work in highly paid jobs ‎and thus eligible of paying more taxes than those migrants who have
low wages and are low ‎skilled (Din, 2012, p. 19).

Vietnam War
The Vietnam War is one of the most disgraceful periods in American history. Not only did the
greatest superpower in the world get bested by an almost third world nation, but we lost badly.
Perhaps this war could have been won, or even prevented in the first place. The United States could
have and should have won this war, with a combination of better weapons usage, better tactics, and
better support from their home country.
Before the War
Even years before the war, Vietnamwas a hotly disputed territory. Many countries had taken

Napalm was also another mistake. By using a flammable jelly to literally burn up all of North
Vietnam, the U.S. not only killed more civilians than soldiers, but also raised several ethical
questions. Napalm coated anything it came within reach of, and burned continuously for up to a
week. Doctors who treated napalm victims said their wounds would still glow green with heat at
night, while the patients writhed in pain. Also, many international scientists and influential people
around the world protested the use of napalm very adamantly.
Yet another type of bomb was dropped by the B 52s, this one containing a large amount of the
defoliating gas, Agent Orange. Hundreds of millions of acres of jungle were destroyed and even
more fields and rice paddies were poisoned because of Agent Orange. South Vietnamese farmers
complained about the detrimental effect Agent Orange had on their rice paddies, and its use
flooded camps and cities with refugees from outlying areas where entire crops were destroyed.
Agent Orange was supposed to eliminate the VC s advantageous hiding places, but it only turned
the people we were fighting for against us even more. Even more so, Agent Orange cause
countless birth defects and deadly illnesses in returning vets. Thousands of soldiers came back with
reoccurring sicknesses, and even cancer. 6 The use of Agent Orange was perhaps one of the largest

Sisyphus
Taylor finds the meaning of life in the inner compulsion to be doing just what we were put here
to do, and to go on doing it forever. The way Richard phrased his argument is perplexed and quite
ambiguous. It may well be, that Taylor was inattentive with his formulation and all he meant to
say was that a life is meaningful if the one who lives it can do what is in their nature to do, and
pursue the goals that their nature calls for. Would we then be able to conclude that it is in
Sisyphus s nature to ram rocks up hills and finds fulfillment in his eternal labor. Fulfilment, only
makes our lives meaningful if it is a fitting fulfilment. The problem is that we may not always

It is also stated that no action or project really gives life it s absolute meaning. In both cases, the
seemingly endless nightmare of eternal and pointless activity has now been overridden with the
scorching Hell of eternal absence. According to Taylor, humanity feels the deep need to have a
destiny, to fulfill an inner compulsion to be doing just what we were put here to do. This idea is
what makes life so meaningful. The meaning is in the passion of doing of things, not necessarily in
what that doing leads to. As Taylor stated, The meaning of lifeis from within us, it is not bestowed
from without, and it far exceeds in both beauty and permanence any heaven of which men have
ever dreamed or yearned for (484). The point of living is simply to be living whether that s doing
what one loves to do or simply getting through every day. While agreeing with Taylor, I must add
that instead of asking whether life has been good for a certain person, we should be asking
whether it has been admirable or if it has been something to proud of. To summarize, we give
meaning to our lives by the active engagement our wills have in our

there were no European women residing on the Hudson Bay during the fur trade, Aboriginal

Comparing The Terms Of Moral Relativism And Various Cultures
In order to compare ethics in the terms of various cultures and moral relativism; one must
understand Moral Relativism and various cultures. Moral Relativism is the view that moral
judgments are true or false only relative to some particular standpoint and that no stand point is
uniquely privileged over all others. (Westacott) As an example for better understanding if a person
says you have your way, I have my way; as for the right way, it does not exist. That is moral
relativism.
We live in a world where the person next to us is not the same and the pattern of human behavior is
different. This can include language, thoughts, communications, actions, customs, beliefs, values,
and institutions of racial, ethnic, religion, gender, gender identity/expression and sexual orientation.

If people became tolerant and learned of different ethical views and culture of one another this
would require moral relativism.
This would mean that a person would not cast judgement so quickly on other cultures and there
ethical values. A person would be more accepting, if not that tolerant or understanding; though that
would be in a perfect world. Within an individual s culture there are differences and subcultures
that don t always agree on things such as polygamy, gay rights and abortion. The non agreement on
issues within a culture makes it difficult to come up with a set of norms and values that prove

A Look at Today s Whaling Essay
A Look at Today s Whaling
The story of the whale is so remarkable, that were there not so many witnesses, I would not venture
to tell it, lest I be accused of exaggeration.
J.D.B Stillman, aboard the ship Plymouth, November 1850 (Stewart, 1995)
There is no doubt that humans have always been intrigued with the majestic beauty of the large
giants found in all of the world s oceans. Whales and people have had a long history together,
marked by many turns of events.
Long ago, native tribes, from many places in the world, depended largely on whales for protein in
their diets. They were also able to use much of the whale for oil, thus began a tradition of whaling.

The Change in Whaling
What exactly happened in the whaling industry that had such a detrimental effect on the whale
populations?
In the nineteenth century, commercial whalers began using whole fleets to hunt whales, with
each ship given a specific role. The largest ship, found at the center of the fleet, was the factory
ship. At the heart of these ships are many tanks. Christopher Ash worked as chief chemist on the
factory ship Balaena, and in his book Whaler s Eye, comments on the massive tanks found in
these ships. Balaena really is a tanker, and almost all of her hull...is subdivided into thirty six
tanks. It is rather like an egg crate with nine rows, each of four tanks extending across the ship,
and each tank able to take some five hundred tons of fuel or Diesel oil, which will be replaced
after cleaning by whale or sperm oil, or perhaps meat meal; sometimes they must be filled with
sea water as ballast. These tanks are impressively large, being well over thirty feet deep; so that
when standing on the bottom and looking up to the one small square of light far above, it is
difficult to believe that we can produce enough oil to fill the whole of that volume in twenty hours
(Ash, 1962, p.19). Underneath the tanks is the bottom of the boat. Above the tanks is the tank
deck. This holds the centrifuges used to separate oil and glue water, as well as driers and bagging

in his acceptance speech. Kennedy entered office with the goal to get rid of Americas poverty,
and to raise America s eyes to the stars through the space program. During the New Frontier,
unemployment benefits were expanded, aid was provided to cities to improve housing and
transportation, funds were allocated to continue the construction of a national highway system
started under Eisenhower, a water pollution control act was passed to protect the country s rivers
and streams, and an agricultural act to raise farmers incomes was made law. The bay of pigs
invasion was a failed military invasion of Cuba. Brigade 2506, the group that attempted to
invade cuba, was made up of Cubans who fled the country after Castro s takeover, was trained
and funded by the CIA. The CIA Castro gone because he was a communist, and at the time
everyone was afraid of communists. This attack lasted three days before Brigade 2506 was
defeated. The Cuban missile crisis, also known as the October crisis, was a confrontation between
the U.S and Soviet Union and was the closest the Cold War came to being an actual war. In
response to the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, Castro reached out to the Soviet Union and asked for
nuclear missiles to scare away any more countries thinking about attacking Cuba. After a long
period of tense negotiations, an agreement was reached between President John F.

Analysis on McNabs Island Essay
McNabs Island is located at the mouth of the Halifax Harbor, and its size is approximately 395
hectares. On McNabs Island, the highest elevation is 45 meters. The elevation of this island
rises toward the middle so that the elevation of central land is higher than the edge. Moreover,
the proportion of its flat areas is approximately 20%, which mostly occurs at hilltops and coastal
beaches. The proportion of gentle and moderate slopes are around 25%, and most of them occur
in the middle area of the island; the proportion of the steep slopes is about 30% which are located
near and at the coasts. Furthermore, from the slope and elevation map which we did before, we
can tell that the shoreline has a lower elevation with steep slopes or flat... Show more content on

On the opposite, if there is a flat or gentle ground, and some kinds of vegetation covering, the
volume and speed of overland flow will decrease. For the coastal environment and processes of
the island, the low energy waves create flat beaches because waves sediments are pushed by the
wind toward the coastline. On the opposite, the high energy waves create coastal cliffs from
wave erosion, and when coastal cliffs are formed, waves will break and release a great deal of
energy. In addition, the island shorelines vary from cobbled stone to fine sand, and with salt
marshes in a few coves such as the one near Maugers Beach. The sandy shores are mostly located
at Ives Cove and Wreck Cove. Cobbles shores are mostly located at Hangmans Beach and Finlays.
In addition, there are a few rocky shores in the region such as the one which is located at Maugers
Beach or McNabs Cove. Furthermore, there are some infrastructures near the coast such as
building, wharves and streets. For the solar aspect and micro climate of McNabs Island, most
slopes are facing to the east, west and south, and there only a few north facing slopes. Actually,
north slopes always receive less solar energy, and south slopes are much brighter and warmer
(Course Lecture, 2013). However, north facing slopes seem to have a moister soil and more
vegetation. Even though south facing slopes receive more direct sunlight and snow will melt

Descriptive Essay About A Marching Band
Reset! I became overly acquainted with that word my freshman year of high school marching
band. It seemed to be the only word our director, Mr. Miller, would say to us, demanding the band
to return to their original positions and march the same several phrases tirelessly. To us, reset
became synonymous with torture. Little did I know, that repugnant little word was meant to
prepare me for one spectacular night. A night that gave family a whole new meaning.
The night of October fourth, on a crisp, autumnal Saturday, the Washington High School marching
band and color guard prepares for their biggest competition of the season. It is late, well past ten.
The moon is high, and the inky sky is peppered with brilliant, luminous stars. The millions of tiny
spotlights cast their ominous glow upon the color guard. Each of us is dressed impeccably in a
cropped denim jacket, white tank top and black spandex pants. Our hair is gelled back in slick
buns, our facial features exaggerated with heavy makeup and our lips carefully accented with
ruby red lipstick as the centerpiece of our costumes. Julie, our beloved instructor, shouts at us to
rehearse our choreography once more, even though we know it like the back of our hands. The
chilly October wind sweeps wiry strands of scorching red hair in front of Julie s face, obscuring her
motherly features like a mask. Her ruddy, freckled face is stern, but her eyes are soft with
adoration as she looks upon her color guard.

PS4 Situational Analysis
INTRODUCTION: Sony is a Japan based company that operates in over 180 countries
worldwide. (Company Profile for Sony Corporation, 2011) Sony was co founded by Masaru Ibuka
and Aki Miruta in 1946 and since then has grown into an international multimillion dollar company
(Sony Corporation, 2014). Ibuka and Miruta originally started out manufacturing measuring
equipment (Sony Corporation, 2014), and have expanded into more complex technological
solutions, such as laptops, gaming consoles, and communications devices. One product in
particular is the PlayStation 4. The PS4 is the most recent of Sony s gaming consoles and since its
release at the end of 2013 has sold 7 million units (Plafke, 2013), raking in 45 billion dollars of
revenue for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The company is competing with Microsoft in the computer and gaming consoles product area,
then with Panasonic in the television and music department and with LG s communications
products. A second threat Sony faces relates to most of its production being in Japan. The
company is susceptible to a fluctuating currency rate. For example the Japanese Yen has been
steadily rising against both the US dollar and the Euro since November 2013 and experienced a
5% increase against the US dollar in December 2013. (OANDA, 2014). This made Sony s
imports to these countries from Japan seem relatively more expensive than products made locally.
Another threat Sony faces is one relating to the specific product being discussed in this report.
Recently the PS4 network was hacked, allowing users credit card details and other private
information to be taken. (MacManus, 2012). Being vulnerable to attacks from hackers is a very
big threat for the Sony Corporation. Opportunities: The Sony brand has been given many
opportunities. One of these is that Blu ray is become increasingly more popular, which gives Sony
the opportunity to make these players as cheaply and efficiently as they can. A second opportunity
is their partnership with the big gaming franchise Fifa. This enhances Sony s corporate value.
Weaknesses: One weakness of the Sony Corporation is its location. Almost its entire manufacturing

  • 2. Final Movement Research Paper Final Movement Reflection When I first started movement class in January, I already had a good connection with my body. However, I knew there was still a lot of work to be done. The most valuable lessons I learned during the course, though there were many, were to not work so hard with my body, to be more aware of my day to day, and the power of understanding yourself. As a student with a business background, I tend to want to work hard. Before taking movement this semester, I would occasionally notice my posture, and correct it to something more proper. I would be aware of my back body, then after a couple steps I would revert back to old habits. It was a constant battle between awareness and unconsciousness. Val pointed it out that it is similar to meditation; you always have to bring back awareness. As time went on I found that I could walk with back body for longer. However, I did end up walking slower. I assumed that I was relearning to walk, so I would have to start slow. The interesting thing was that the awareness of back body expanded beyond my walk to school. Eventually, I started to walk with back body through hallways, or I would remember to use back body when I was sitting. Moreover, I started to remember to use the Alexander Technique more often in my everyday life. At this point in the semester, I am getting more and more consistent with my practice. However, when I am busy, it tends to slip away. This practice is another big part of why I m feeling less tense in troubled areas. Physicists then decided to act smart and switched on the detector once the electron had passed through the slit. But it seemed somehow the electrons knew that it was being detected and it immediately switched to particle like behaviour by adopting the passage from one of the either slit. Fagus Grandifolia And Acer Saccharum Case Study Prevalence of Fagus grandifolia and Acer saccharum at Case Western Reserve University farm Gowtham Yerneni Case Western Reserve University Introduction A key component of any ecosystem on Earth is the presence of plants. Within these plants, variation and diversity are abundant. Plants can vary in many characteristics, such as leaf structure, height, bark structure, and diameter at breast height. The culmination of this variety among plants is termed the biodiversity of plants, which encompasses three realms: species diversity, genetic diversity, and ecosystem diversity. Species diversity pertains to the variety of species in a specific ecosystem. Genetic diversity refers to variation in specific traits among individuals of the same species. Finally, ecosystem diversity refers to the variation of ecosystems in a specific area. For purposes of this study, we will only focus on species diversity. Studying species diversity of plants entails measuring the amount and size of different species in a given area. The importance of this type of study stretches far beyond observation and results. Species diversity among plants in an ecosystem is vital to the sustainability of that ecosystem. An ecosystem with greater species diversity uses its resources more efficiently, making it more productive. In addition, greater plant diversity leads to greater community biomass due to reduced nutrient loss and increased carbon reserves (Tilman et al., 1997). Our study primarily ... Nose Cone Designs Lab Report The experiment conducted was to observe how changing factors, including nose cone designs and volume of water would affect a water rockets maximum vertical displacement and the forces involved. It was hypothesised that the round cone would travel a greater distance in comparison to the square and pointed cones. Another assumption that was made was the water rocket with the 750 ml volume of water would be the most effective and would travel the greatest distance in comparison to the 500ml and 1000ml volumes of water. As seen from the results collected, it suggests that these hypotheses were supported and matched the expected outcomes with experimental errors and uncertainties. Table 1 illustrates the collected measurements for max height reached(m), max velocity reached(m /s), acceleration (m/s^2) and drag subjected on the water rocket with differing nose cone designs. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pro choice is for female activists and their beliefs on women taking control of their own body and making their own decisions. The other side of the debate in abortion is pro life, which is defined as murder, killing an innocent baby which has no say. It has been reported that anti abortionists relate having an abortion to murdering someone. They believe that a murder is intentional and so is an abortion because you are planning to abort the baby (Currie, 2000,103). Results have shown that people who advocate for Pro Life primarily are Christian or Catholic members because of the Bible. In the Bible, it does not say directly that abortion is not permitted it makes references to make it clear that God felt very strong about the fact that a fetus or embryo is still considered a human. It suggests that God creates the baby s life well its in the womb and it also says that the same penalty should be giving to someone who causes the death of the child in the womb as to someone who commits murder (Frechet, 2009). As you can see there is two very strong definitive sides to the debate of abortion, both having strong arguments. History Abortion has been known since the ancient times. • 13. Pros And Cons Of Raising The Driving Age Of 18 The current driving age of sixteen is implemented in almost every state in the United States. Most states have become accustomed to the current driving age, but recently there are certain states that believe that the legal driving age should be raised due to various reasons. The main argument for most states is that sixteen year old s are not mature enough and lack the preparation to handle the responsibility to drive safely. Teenagers under the age of eighteen should be required to wait longer to get their license and should be more prepared before getting their license. Raising the age was not an idea based on opinions. Over the years many people and organizations have recorded facts and statistics to support their claims. An example shown on CBS News, shows that More than 5,000 U.S. teens die each year in car crashes. The rate of crashes, fatal and nonfatal, per mile driven for 16 year old drivers is almost 10 times the rate for drivers ages 30 to 59, according to the National Highway Safety Administration (CBS NEWS). One huge influence on the topic was the Insurance Institutes for Highway Safety, they created a seventeen page memo filled with statistics and examples of how raising the age is a necessity. This is not the first attempt to use statistics to support the appeal to raise the age. The Seattle Times states, The example the institute uses most prominently is New Jersey, the only state with a minimum driver s licenseage of 17. The report cited a study from 1992 96 in which the rate of crash related deaths among 16 and 17 year olds was 18 per 100,000 in New Jersey, compared with 26 per 100,000 in Connecticut, which had a minimum driver s license age of 16 and 4 months (Willette). Overall the argument that raising the age will result in less teen deaths while drivingis highly justified. There are frequent examples and a huge amount of research that proves that younger drivers are more likely to cause harm or damage than an older, more experienced driver. One crucial evidence used in the case to raise the driving age is the mental stage teenagers are in at this age. Teen brains at sixteen aren t as developed as an eighteen year old brain. The critique team would add that there is likely to be cannibalization of the catalogue business because the models are so closely related. Staples should commission a study to find estimated rates of cannibalization so that an orderly response can be implemented. The analysis team is also correct that Staples.com should focus on market share over wallet share. The market is very large and growing fast. The critique team would add that by capturing online market share ahead of competitors, Staples.com can reduce the cost of overcoming competitor customer loyalty in the online market. The switching cost will still be absent for many customers that are new to the internet office supplies market. The critique team would add that Staples catalogue business increased wallet share by a factor of three. This is the very business that will likely be cannibalized in the ordinary course of business by opening the online store. Staples should not spend too much money on trying to increase wallet share when it will likely be transitioning between business units. However, Staples should still take the opportunity to market services as a way to expand customer wallet. All marketing expenditures on promoting new services market share will spill over into wallet share. Any wallet share campaign on services should be lower priority than market share marketing. 3. It was true most people inside Minerva did dress what would seem more conservatively, but it was just more practical attire. The clothes that the waitress was wearing were hard to come by and were part of the atmosphere of the Solstice. People came here to escape the glowing and humming of the force fields and the scholastic life they had chosen and cherished. Half way through their dinner and two Professor s Delights later for Meford, the chandelier doors opened and entered Bergess and three of her best friends. • 26. Women Are Not Objects For Women Women are NOT Objects For as long as many can remember, women have had a difficult time dealing with things that men have been able to do with ease. For example, throughout history, it has always been said that men were the only ones allowed to vote for their future president, whereas women were not. Another example was back in the 60 s when women were advertised with sexist jobs such as being house wives while men were to be treated courteously (Sex Appeals in Advertising). With that said, when women were getting noticed a lot more, many men found it difficult to accept that since men basically ruled over women. However, currently, the laws and regulations that women have are completely different than how they were before but women are still fighting a common trend that occurs throughout the entire world. Women are seen as sexual objects to men when they desire pleasure which allows for men to control the situation. Therefore, should women be objectified as sexual objects and caregivers whereas males not so much? I will be answering that throughout this essay. With that said, I will be arguing two things; the first being that women are not intended to be a sexual object to bring a certain pleasure to men, and secondly the Catholic Church should not have to justify that a woman s purpose in life is only to procreate a future life. With that said, I will be focusing on two main authors. The first author goes by the name of Miguel De La Torre and his book is called Doing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both of them are on the same topic of war but have many contrasts in how they treat the subject matter, war. The main difference between these two poems is the audience that they were written for. Tennyson, as poet laureate, was written for public reading, but Sassoon s work which showed more emotion and feeling, was therefore more of a private poem. The poems tone and mood are very different. Tennyson begins his poem by using anaphora in the opening lines, Half a league, half a league, half a league onward. Anaphora is the repetition of certain words or words to obtain a rhythmic pattern. In this historic war, the men charged at the enemy guns on horseback, so this repetition in Tennyson s opening lines could be associated with the sound of galloping horses. Tennyson uses this again when he writes, Cannon to the right of them, Cannon to the left of them, Cannon in front of them. Tennyson also uses rhetorical questions in his poem, for example, Was there a man dismay d? and When can their glory fade? These are questions to which no answer is required, and add dramatic effect to the poem. Then he uses the phrase, The Valley of Death, to describe the valley in which the charge took place. This phrase is taken from the Bible ( Psalm 23). In other translations of the Bible ( The Good News Bible), it is translated as, the deepest darkness . Tennyson uses it with dramatic effect as if the men were ordered to go into the deepest darkness to charge down the cannons. The way Richard phrased his argument is perplexed and quite ambiguous. It may well be, that Taylor was inattentive with his formulation and all he meant to say was that a life is meaningful if the one who lives it can do what is in their nature to do, and pursue the goals that their nature calls for. Would we then be able to conclude that it is in Sisyphus s nature to ram rocks up hills and finds fulfillment in his eternal labor. The meaning is in the passion of doing of things, not necessarily in what that doing leads to. As Taylor stated, The meaning of lifeis from within us, it is not bestowed from without, and it far exceeds in both beauty and permanence any heaven of which men have ever dreamed or yearned for (484). The point of living is simply to be living whether that s doing what one loves to do or simply getting through every day. In the nineteenth century, commercial whalers began using whole fleets to hunt whales, with each ship given a specific role. The largest ship, found at the center of the fleet, was the factory ship. • 42. Descriptive Essay About A Marching Band Reset! I became overly acquainted with that word my freshman year of high school marching band. It seemed to be the only word our director, Mr. Miller, would say to us, demanding the band to return to their original positions and march the same several phrases tirelessly. To us, reset became synonymous with torture. Little did I know, that repugnant little word was meant to prepare me for one spectacular night. A night that gave family a whole new meaning. The night of October fourth, on a crisp, autumnal Saturday, the Washington High School marching band and color guard prepares for their biggest competition of the season. It is late, well past ten. The moon is high, and the inky sky is peppered with brilliant, luminous stars. The millions of tiny spotlights cast their ominous glow upon the color guard. Each of us is dressed impeccably in a cropped denim jacket, white tank top and black spandex pants. Our hair is gelled back in slick buns, our facial features exaggerated with heavy makeup and our lips carefully accented with ruby red lipstick as the centerpiece of our costumes. Julie, our beloved instructor, shouts at us to rehearse our choreography once more, even though we know it like the back of our hands. • 43. PS4 Situational Analysis INTRODUCTION: Sony is a Japan based company that operates in over 180 countries worldwide. (Company Profile for Sony Corporation, 2011) Sony was co founded by Masaru Ibuka and Aki Miruta in 1946 and since then has grown into an international multimillion dollar company (Sony Corporation, 2014). One product in particular is the PlayStation 4. The PS4 is the most recent of Sony s gaming consoles and since its release at the end of 2013 has sold 7 million units (Plafke, 2013), raking in 45 billion dollars of revenue for... The company is competing with Microsoft in the computer and gaming consoles product area, then with Panasonic in the television and music department and with LG s communications products. A second threat Sony faces relates to most of its production being in Japan. The company is susceptible to a fluctuating currency rate. For example the Japanese Yen has been steadily rising against both the US dollar and the Euro since November 2013 and experienced a 5% increase against the US dollar in December 2013. (OANDA, 2014). This made Sony s imports to these countries from Japan seem relatively more expensive than products made locally. Another threat Sony faces is one relating to the specific product being discussed in this report. Recently the PS4 network was hacked, allowing users credit card details and other private information to be taken. (MacManus, 2012). Being vulnerable to attacks from hackers is a very big threat for the Sony Corporation. Opportunities: The Sony brand has been given many opportunities. One of these is that Blu ray is become increasingly more popular, which gives Sony the opportunity to make these players as cheaply and efficiently as they can. A second opportunity is their partnership with the big gaming franchise Fifa. This enhances Sony s corporate value. Weaknesses: One weakness of the Sony Corporation is its location. Almost its entire manufacturing takes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
