Periods-Personal Narrative
Periods... every girl s worst nightmare. When you re young you dream of the day when you get to say
yeah! I got my period, to your friends. But when you get it you regret ever thinking of this curse, as a
gift. Then there s that moment when your mom says you will get used to it... the truth is, you don t.
You will never get used to it. There is also the struggle when you think you re done with your period
and you wear your, long awaited, white jeans and then it comes back like Hey!!! Miss me, I didn t
think so. But I think I ll ruin those great bright white jeans you have been so careful to keep from
staining! You know the struggle is real. It happens, every time. You think you would know better than
to wear white jeans so close after you ended but no... it will never work like that. Cause I have no
patience with periods. So when it s done with I m like Freedom!! but it will haunt me for the rest of
my life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yeah, just this part of the subjects needed its own paragraph. It s that important. Now the thing about
cramps is that you can sometimes cover it up and act like nothing is killing your side, back, or
stomach when it is. Or you can just take drugs and cover it up for a couple of hours and then be done
with it. But if you re like me and medicine doesn t work for you. You end up just wallowing in your
own sorrow and pain for the rest of the week or however long your period is. It absolutely sucks and
there is no cure for it. Like you see all these minor diseases being cured and over here like when can u
cure this peace of crap? You re all figuring out how to cure cancer but you can t do a simple thing

Social Commentary In Remember The Titans
One of the most common controversial issues in America today is racism. Boaz Yakin, director of
Remember the Titans, brings yet another memorable movie associating with this controversial issue
that has shown to be timeless. Remember the Titans does not only feature terrific performances, but is
also an inspirational film that has a good amount of social commentary. This film follows the lives of
two schools in Alexandria, Virginia in the 1970s. These two schools integrate forming T.C. Williams
High School whose European American head coach is replaced by an African American coach from
North Carolina. The titans now have to overcome two different races coming together to form their
team which causes tension throughout the community. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The two main characters, that I would say, on the team were Gerry, played by Ryan Douglas Hurst,
and Julius, played by Wood Hayes. They hated the way each other acted and they would not
acknowledge that the other was even a person. Their different races really affected their relationship.
They were like enemies. They hated the thought of having to play on the same football team. Playing
with your enemies wasn t the ideal situation for them, but they were too determined for the love of the
game that they wouldn t let their other teammates hold them back. After playing together, they started
noticing that their differences were unrecognizable and being teammates resulted in friendship. Gerry
and Julius finally realized that skin color should not hold them back from friendship, or being
teammates. Even though their appearances were different on the outside, they were the same on the
inside and obviously shared interests. They both noticed that they had developed a lot of trust and
respect for one another. They worked together to overcome the racial issues and to heal the conflict.
The quote, Trusting a man s soul rather than their color really comes into play with the relationships
within this movie. Their relationship is now strong and they are built on respect and

The Term Cochlear Amplifier, Coined By Thomas Gold
The term cochlear amplifier, coined by Thomas Gold in 1948, can be described as a positive feedback
mechanism whereby outer hair cells amplify displacements of the basilar membrane in the cochlea. It
characterises the collection of processes that increase sound vibrations in the inner ear (Ashmore Gale,
2004). Sounds are generated by movement of air molecules that create changes in air pressure. These
changes in pressure are called compressions, when the molecules are closer together, and rarefication,
when the molecules are less densely packed and are cyclic, thus making a pressure wave. The human
auditory system is able to respond to these pressure waves over a range of about 20 hertz (Hz) to
20,000 Hz. The intensity of a sound is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This electromotility of the OHCs has been attributed to the motor protein, prestin, which is embedded
in the cell membrane, and it is the role of these mechanical changes that has been identified in
amplifying the vibrations of the cochlea in the transduction of sound (Zheng et al., 2000). The
outcome is an enhancement of the basilar membrane amplitude by more than one hundred times
(Davies, 2014).
The key to the cochlea amplifier mechanism is the prestin motor protein as it is this that underlies the
activity of the OHCs. On the apical surface of sensory hair cells are finger like projections, forming
hair bundles, called stereocilia. These stereocilia bathe in a cochlear fluid containing about 145 mM of
potassium which is called endolymph. The deflection of a single stereocilium invokes a pull on a
spring which links to the tip of the neighbouring stereocilium and thus pulls it in the same direction. A
domino effect subsequently occurs until the whole hair bundle has been moved. This process causes
mechanically gated transducer channels, which are non selectively permeable to cations and are
located at the base of the tip links, to open. This provides a passage for potassium to enter the hair
cells down its electrochemical gradient as the electric potential of the endolymph, +80 mV, is much
greater than that of the hair cell body, between 55 mV and 70

Assess the significance of individual cases in changing...
Since the 19th century, law enforcement and punishment has developed rapidly into the justice system
we rely on today. Obscure laws that had become irrelevant in an industrial and post industrial era were
fast being replaced, and despite its lack of existence at the beginning of the 1800 s, policing standards
are, today, high. The necessity for this drastic change in approach to crime has stemmed from the
needs of industrial Britain, and the increased awareness of the public, and government, and their
perception of crime and punishment. Rather than individual cases having a direct impact on these
changes, in general they provide an insight as to the reactions of the public at the time, and along with
the myriad of other cases, allow us ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Tolpuddle Martyrs are a significant case in showing the increased involvement of the public in
speaking against the justice system. In 1834, members of the Friendly Society of Agricultural
Labourers were transported under an outdated law that prohibited the taking of oaths, when they
protested for a better wage. Perhaps what brought the most sympathy for the case was the fact that
their protest was peaceful, despite the history of violent protest among workers with riots and groups
such as the Luddites. The authorities were equally unsympathetic to this case as they were to the other,
more violent movements. Even after public interest attracted an 800,000 signature petition, protesters
were oppressed at a demonstration in Oldham. The public was aware of the struggles of the poor
worker, but the government still dismissed it; refusing to recognise the desperate circumstance of
workers and citing greed as the motive of the Martyrs. Clearly the case had little impact on
government opinions, with the treatment of the Chartists and the Rebecca Rioters later in the same
decade being the same. But an important contribution of the Tolpuddle Martyrs case was the impact it
had on public opinion, and the increased popularity of worker s unions. This case might suggest that
reform is unrelated to the attitudes of society at

Determinism And Free Will In Harry Potter And The Prisoner...
The controversy of whether the doctrine of determinism or free will guides us throughout our life is
constantly debated. Is there a superior being that determines everything that occurs, or are humans free
to do whatever they choose? In stories, the collaboration of fate and free will propels the actions of
characters throughout the plot. In J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, there is a
certain fate ordained, but there is free will that brings the characters to their fates. On the contrary, the
chorus of Euripides Medea states the gods find a way, against all expectation, to do what they
want...And that is exactly how this case turned out (Euripides 1467 1469), suggesting that whatever
Medea does is constrained the the fate determined by the gods. That she enacts the judgement of the
gods is what she considers the bindings of fate, but under the lens of Harry Potter, Rowling would
treat this as free will that endows fate.
The notion that there is a superior force that decides fate is present in the novel and the play, although
the extent of this power contrasts. Dumbledore acts as a semi god figure in Harry Potter, determining
the fates of Buckbeak and Sirius Black by pushing Hermione and Harry to use the Time Turner. Had
he not opened up this possibility to them, the salvation of the doomed characters would not have been
possible. As the events unfold with the time travel, Buckbeak s liberation from execution leads
Dumbledore to remark How

What s leadership? Who are leaders and what values do they provide? Definitely, these are important
questions that need to be answered at first.

Still Regardless to thousands of other explanations, the best definition of leadership does not exist.
There is not one agreed definition in the world despite how much leadership has been studied and
written about: as 316,641 results returned when searching Amazon for books on leadership.
According to Warren Bennis in Leaders (1997)
academic analysis has given us more than 850 definitions of leadership . I think it is fair to say that

Gothic Literature Assignment
Gothic Literature Writing Assignment Gothic Literature can be defined as writing that includes a
horrifying atmosphere, petrifying characters, and an unimaginable conflict. Many of Edgar Allan Poe
s stories can meet this criteria, but one can fit it the best. This would be The Black Cat. This is
primarily because of the creepy underground environment, the evil antagonist within the protagonist,
and the conflict of the story. First, the setting of the character can very much be shown as a part of
gothic literature requirements. In the beginning, the story explains how after the narrator had done a
reprehensible act by harming and later killing the innocent cat he loved so dearly, his house was
caught in flames, and he lost all of his wealth. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The character was awaken to poverty. His entire life was sucked down the drain and he then lived in
an underground shelter , later quoted, the cellar of the old building which our poverty compelled us to
inhabit (Cat 23). The building adds a more mysterious sensation for the reader to consume. Although
stories like The Murder of Rue Morgue can have a creepier environment, the story The Black Cat, can
fit the criteria for the setting requirements in gothic literature. This is because the environment is
known for being more eerie than the others. For example, The Masque of the Red Death is set in an
isolated alley and gives an off feeling, but The Black Cat is a more modern way of a creepier setting.
The abandoned building can affect more modern stories, because they are the places where murders or
other gruesome events typically occur. Next, in most gothic literature novels, the main character,
whether that be the protagonist or antagonist, are usually thought as sinister or menacing. These few
stipulations can undoubtedly be classified in the story The Black Cat, because the character undergoes
many evil things within himself. In the beginning, the character is telling the reader that he is not in
face crazy, and

International Business Systems And Porter s Diamond Model
Porter s Diamond Model provides companies with four reliant factors that fully depend on the state of
each other to achieve success within a competitive environment. However, Curran (2001) claims that
Porter s Diamond Model does not fully explain a country s competitive advantage since only two
factors provide evidence of their competitive position. The used factors are company rivalry, strategy,
and factor endowments. With reference to the competitive positions of countries within major
economies, factor endowments comprising of land, capital, labor, advanced technology and materials
as stated in Porter s theory, a government is responsible for contributing toward a company s physical
infrastructure (Porter 1998).
National Business Systems and Porter s Diamond Model in major economies
It is only through industrial effort that a firm can attain or maintain its competitive advantage.
Correspondingly, a determined business system will focus on competitive advantage fundamentals
such as the chief role of creativity and the scope of challenges and pressure. Such detail exposes the
management of a business to perceived shortcuts to success, which are actually failures. The
implementation of Porter s Diamond attempts to provide research results with fewer costs and risks as
well. Through appropriate leadership techniques suggested in the model, it is evident that the origin of
competitive advantage is a firm s management. Responsibilities involved are creating pressures for

Propaganda Techniques Of Today s Advertising By Ann...
In Propaganda Techniques in Today s Advertising by Ann McClintock, the author discusses how
Americans are being brainwashed by advertisements and the different techniques they use to catch our
attention. Ads are simply everywhere we look, it is impossible to get through the day without seeing
one. All advertising companies put tons of research into how consumers spend money or even vote.
Once these companies finish their research, they create advertisements that appeal to the masses. The
basic propaganda techniques that McClintock writes about are Name Calling, Glittering Generalities,
Transfer, Testimonial, Plain Folks, Card Stacking, and Bandwagon. Each one of these propaganda
techniques is used in specific ways by advertisers to sell their product or service to consumers. I have
selected a political ad which uses the Glittering Generalities technique, a coffee ad that uses Transfer
technique, a soda ad that uses the Testimonial technique, and a soup ad that uses the Name Calling
technique.
First, the political ad I choose used the Glittering Generalities technique in which the Donald Trump
used a certain slogan in hopes to sway voters. In this ad Mr. Trump is telling potential voters that a
vote for him is a vote to take back our country. The phrase used is vague and may not mean the same
to you as it does to me. McClintock states, The ads for politicians and political causes often use
glittering generalities because such buzzwords can influence votes (698).

Ageing Population And The Aging Population
Introduce the topic of the aging population and the ways in which people are trying to look and feel
younger and healthier. The world is ageing rapidly. People aged 60 and older make up 12.3 per cent of
the global population, and by 2050, that number will rise to almost 22 per cent according to the United
Nations Population Fund (UNPF). In the United States of America, the older population defined as
persons 65 years or older numbered 46.2 million in 2014.They represented 14.5% of the U.S.
population, about one in every seven Americans. By 2060, there will be about 98 million older
persons, more than twice their number in 2014.
Ageing is a triumph of development: People are living longer because of better nutrition, sanitation,
health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many products are competing to offer magic formulas that will reverse the ageing process. These
advertisements are speaking to the battle with calls to defy aging. Offering instant solutions
enumerated consumer perceptions not a brand communication but recorded in the advertisements
through to the effects of aging that speak to the fear of flaws that need to fixed. Others go as far as to
suggest that they transform more than just the skin.
The adverts, also suggest solutions that can halt the effects of aging. Even through showing a virtual
mirror to youth in another person suggesting magic as well.
All the advertisements evoke the symbolism of the fountain of youth or the transformative symbolism
of energy in making people immortal. Consequently, this advertisements use science and DNA
aesthetics to persuade the audiences of the efficacy of their regenerating or reactivating properties.
It is worth noting that while there is a gender bias to

Entry Market For P G Pampers Division Next Year
Three countries I choose to be the target markets are Mexico, India, and China; and I recommend
Mexico as the entry market for P G Pampers Division next year. In order to explain the reasons why I
recommend Mexico, I am going to compare and contrast the three countries of the status quo in
economics, population, health, business climate (trade), and industry macroscopically. Before
analyzing, I have three important points to emphasize in order to explain the reasons why I choose
these certain levels and fields. First, due to the limit resources I have right now, it is impossible for me
to find out the micro level information within each country, which include people s willingness of
acceptance the imported goods, the degree of dependence on local brands, the market share of the
local pamper brands in the local market, and the market saturation of pamper products. As the result, I
decide to examine these countries in a macro level. Second, since we are only aiming to find the entry
market, we do not have to firstly worry about the financial status quo such as investment flows, debt
controls, or inflation rate. Third, my analysis is based on 2014 s data and information provided by
global EDGE; I am not using any current news or updated policies in each country as the analyzing
standards. For example, China s recent policy of allowing each couple to have two children would
definitely affect the demographics of population and population growth, whereas I am not going to use

The Private Affairs Of Rulers Have Fascinated Us Since The...
The private affairs of rulers have fascinated us since the beginning of civilization. Many people tend
to think of historical LGBT figures as being artists, authors, poets, and musicians, but they occupied
many powerful positions in government as well. In times where homosexuality could be punishable by
execution or torture, keeping these attractions a secret was often a matter of life and death, especially
for the monarchs who lived highly publicized lives. Through the discovery of love letters, journal
entries, and first person accounts, historians have been able to uncover the enigmatic relationships of
some of history s most influential rulers and their same sex lovers. 10. Emperor Ai of Han The passion

His obsession with witch hunts inspired Shakespeare s Macbeth , and he was known to watch
suspected witches being tortured for information. He also was responsible for the King James Bible,
the modern translation we still use today. Outside of his marriage, James had close relationships with
many of his male courtiers. James was said to be especially close to George Villiers, who James later
made Duke of Buckingham. Poet Théophile de Viau said it is well known that the king of England has
union with the Duke of Buckingham , and the Duke himself revealed in a letter (link 2) that he had
slept in the same bed as the king many times. In fact, secret passages have been found in James castle
linking his bedroom to the room of the Duke. Before his involvement with the Duke of Buckingham,
James also showed an interest in Robert Carr. They first met at a jousting competition, where Carr
broke his leg. James became immediately interested in Carr, (link 3) and sat at his bedside while his
leg healed, teaching Carr to speak Latin. 8. Emperor Hadrian of Rome Named one of the Five Good
Emperors (link 4) by Machiavelli, Emperor Hadrian of Rome was known for his love of architecture
and humanist views on war. Famous structures such as the Pantheon were built under his supervision,
and withdrew from conquests in Mesopotamia and Armenia within hours of assuming the throne in
order to promote peace. Hadrian met his lover, Antinous, while touring his

Character Analysis Of Silence Of The Lambs
Silence of the Lambs focuses on two main characters with problematic mental disorders: Hannibal
Lector and Buffalo Bill. Both of these characters appear to have anti social personality disorder
(ASPD). Based on diagnostic criteria from the DSM 5, significant impairments must be present in
personality functioning as well as interpersonal functioning. This can be present in either identity or
self direction. These ideas of self functioning are focused on personal gratification from goals and self
esteem, and result from personal gain, power, or pleasure. This characteristic is present in both
characters, as they feel a sense of pleasure and gain from killing their victims. Hannibal Lector would
eat body parts of his victims, and Buffalo Bill would collect the skin of his victims. This also
demonstrates the characters failing to conform to lawful, ethical behavior. Next, interpersonal
functioning impairments are present in empathy or intimacy. Empathy is the lack of feelings or
remorse for others, which is vividly seen in Hannibal Lector s scenes throughout the movie. For
example, after Lector has killed the police officers in his cell, he stands around, swaying as music
plays, content with what he has just done, instead of feeling bad or guilty about the murders. In
Buffalo Bill s home, the senator s daughter is seen trapped a well like structure, screaming for help.
Meanwhile, Buffalo Bill acts oblivious to her suffering and is not affected or remorseful about it. The
DSM 5 also describes those affected by antisocial personality disorder as having pathological
personality traits in antagonism and disinhibition. While antagonism has several defining
characteristics, callousness and hostility are present throughout the movie, as well as disinhibition
characterized by risk taking behaviors. The other evident qualifications include these expressions not
understood as being normative, not due to the effects of substance or medications, and the characters
being over eighteen years old. The only symptom that is not apparent in the movie is whether or not
these impairments are stable across time and consistent across situations. It is unknown how long
Hannibal Lector and Buffalo Bill had symptoms of

Christine Macleod s Essay
In Christine Macleod s essay, The Politics of Gender, Language and Hierarchy in Mamet s Oleanna ,
she uses an approach that differs from the common belief by critics that David Mamet comments
about political correctness in his play titled, Oleanna . Through the analysis of the play along with
numerous sources, Macleod argues her idea that the spectators of the play seem to dwell on the
antagonist s Carol s advantage over the protagonist, John, as a result of her gender. In fact, Macleod
argues that it is Carol s struggle for power that truly highlights her in a negative light and is the true
engagement within the play. Despite holding a viewpoint which deeply contrasts the standard belief by
viewers that Mamet s Oleanna deals with gender, Christine Macleod proves with solid arguments in
her essay that David Mamet calls for more attention to hierarchy and language, and uses other factors
as an addition to the plot which simply blurs everything else; this is evidently a flawed statement as
Macleod fails to realize her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christine Macleod begins her essay with a vague abstract that looks at the viewpoints of different
critics and scholars all of whom side with the idea that Oleanna focuses predominantly on the struggle
between genders, feminist concerns, and Mamet s own take on his play. For example, she even goes as
far to state that, male directors have managed to find or fashion anti feminist bias in the play (201).
She examines how since its release, Oleanna and Mamet have been subject to major criticism, as the
critics themselves have distorted the subtleties of the dramatic action by representing the play as a
mere fussilade in the so called war between the sexes (200). Ultimately, Macleod brings closure to her
initial ambiguous viewpoint through her thesis by stating, the narrow critical preoccupation with
sexual harassment, political

The Destruction Of Great Works Of Art
Over the course of human history, political parties and movements have been involved in the
destruction of great works of art. From the Mongols to recent terrorist organizations like Islamic State,
these political organizations have a bad habit of destroying works of art. Moreover, this is only seen
being done by political organizations that seek change or control over the world.
The most recent and impactful of which being the Nazi party, Taliban, and Islamic state. This area is
incredibly interesting because art is being destroyed right under our noses, not many people
understand the impact of the history behind these works of art that are now destroyed, and it happens
over and over throughout human history. What is very peculiar about this is that not many people
really consider the motivation behind all of the destruction and vandalism. This begs the question,
what causes political organizations to destroy works of art in their quest for political power? For the
past few years the world has begun to really understand the affects and the power that the terrorist
organization Islamic State holds. The main source of media coverage of Islamic state ranges from the
murdering of innocent people to the destruction of ancient works of art. For example, Islamic state
militants in Iraq and Syria wage war against the region s cultural heritage by attacking archaeological
sites with bulldozers and explosives. The actual motives behind their destruction are not set in stone,

In October 2003, San Diego experienced the Cedar Fire that claimed 273,246 acres, 2,820 structures,

its magnitude was not expected for another 100 years (San Diego Fire Facts, 2016). This expectation
was short lived because four years after this fire in October 2007, San Diego experienced the largest

Orchid of the Bayou Reaction Paper
October 7, 2010
The book Orchid of the Bayou was eye opening. Cathryn (Kitty) Hoffpauir Fischer did a good job of
being honest, which really allowed the reader to get a better understanding of what being deaf in this
time period meant. Her writing really allowed me to see the different struggles that deaf children had
to face, and how these struggles were overcome by Kitty. This book taught me many things about
Deaf culture. First, this book allowed me to see the negative way in which deaf people were
perceived. This book is not old by any means, and I was taken aback by the way deaf children were
perceived by not only others in the community, but often times by their own parents as well. The term

attend mainstream public schools also; making it apparent that just because a child is deaf does not
mean that they are dumb by any means. Also, Kitty has a disease called Usher Syndrome. Before
reading this book I had never heard of it, and thus never realized how common it really is. This
disease takes away two vital senses; hearing and vision. Kitty really opens up about her fears about
losing her sight. The idea of total isolation is scary, without a doubt, and in my opinion she handles it
with more courage than I could have ever imagined. Sign language is visual, and once Kitty loses her
ability to see it will be very difficult to communicate with her family, and nearly impossible to
communicate with hearing people who she most of the time needs an interpreter to communicate with
anyways. I was very impressed by Kitty s courage throughout her life. As a child she is extremely
brave considering she in unable to communicate with her family, and is very confused by most of
what goes on in her life because of this communication barrier. Kitty makes the best of her situation
regardless. As she gets older she shows extreme courage again as her father faces alcoholism and
struggles to keep food on the table for the family. Kitty again handles this with courage beyond her

community of Modoc, Indiana. It was formed in 1952 to accommodate students from all over. The

Corporation district. The building was finished accordingly in 1957 allowing it to open and start

Reformation In 15th Century Europe
Reformation
In the 15th century Europe was controlled by the religious faction of the papacy. Anything done
against the papacy, more importantly the Pope, ended with the person, or country, being
excommunicated. Excommunication was an act of condemning or forsaking an individual to hell.
Only the Pope could forgive and allow them to be redeemed. Selling of indulgences was also another
common practice that the papacy used during the time. They required all Catholics pay tribute to the
papacy and in return they were granted salvation. During this time there were little to no free thinkers,
due to the fear brought about by the papacy. Only a few individuals dared to question the Church.
Individuals like Martin Luther.
Martin Luther was a Catholic

The Captain And The First Mate
With the presence of The Doctor the ship had left the dock, the engines roaring they soared into the
sea of stars, embraced by the goddess of the night herself. The captain and the first mate settled into
their positions on the bridge almost immediately, she at her station in front of the main viewport, he
just a bit behind at the helm. The Doctor was no where to be seen of course, he mightn t even be on
the ship any more. Ruari on the other hand was being a nuisance, in the most endearing of ways; if she
wasn t trying to rest her head on the captain s lap she was getting right under the first mate s feet! Still,
her presence was always welcome, she was every bit a part of the crew and had saved both the captain

He reached down and petted her, moving his fingers behind her ears to scratch just the way she liked
it.
Stop that! laughed the first mate, Ruari s tail had been wagging vigorously and brushing the back of
her head. The arcanine was huge, after all, she could only rest her head like that on the captain because
of the raised platform.
Just because she d told him to stop, the captain gave the ecstatic beast an extra enthusiastic scratch.
Ruari s tail was making the first mate s hair look as if it had been in a gale!
Catch! she said as she took something from her pocket and threw it just above the captain s head. Two
can play at that game!
Before the captain had time to notice the mischievous glint in her eyes he d already reached up and
grabbed the object. He felt the uneven texture of the treats that Ruari loved in his hand now but it was
much too late, a whirl of red fur was lunging straight for his hand.
Shi was all he managed to get out before the wind was knocked out of him. He just managed to open
his hand before he felt the roughness and saliva from that damn animal all over his palm, dribbling
down his forearm. Of course it got on his sleeve and therefore everywhere, though he was struggling
too much to get his breath back to pay too much attention to that. It s a good thing I wasn t standing,
you know she can knock me for six!

Theme Of Symbolism In Young Goodman Brown
Symbolism within Young Goodman Brown Within many Gothic works, symbolism is profoundly
used, especially in the tale of Young Goodman Brown written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Was Faith his
innocent companion or his trust in his religion? Why does Faith wear pink ribbons, innocence much
like that of a child or a deep symbolic meaning? Deception is yet another symbol within this tale,
because not everything is as it seams. By Faith, representation of colors, and deception, Hawthorne
demonstrates Gothic symbolism within his tale of Young Goodman Brown . Faith is trust and belief in
someone or something, mainly within religious practices. However, Faith has also become a popular
name. Within the passage, Faith is the name of Goodman Brown s wife. In the beginning, Faith
desperately begs Brown to stay at home instead of departing on the journey for the reason that Faith
was timid and scared to death. However, as most men do, he does not listen and went on his
expedition anyways; he left his dear Faith behind. By leaving his wife Faith, Brown also leaves behind
his actual faith in God on his journey in to the forest (Stoehr 393). Therefore, in his short story
Hawthorne symbolizes Brown s wife as his own faith. By leaving her, it demonstrates him leaving not
only his wife, but his faith.
Pink is an innocent hue of color, is it not? In addition to being a symbol within the passage, Goodman
Brown s wife Faith wears pink ribbons in her hair. At first glance, pink is a

Beethoven s Ninth Symphony
Beethoven s Ninth Symphony is lauded as one, if not the most masterful piece of classical music that
has ever been created. Unravelling all the components within it is a daunting task; beginning with the
origin of the central theme of the piece from the poem Ode to Joy , the use of fugue, the
deconstruction of the four movements, and the instrumentation. Schiller s Ode to Joy generally speaks
about brotherhood, joy, and drinking. Which if being experienced all at the same time, gives a sense of
camaraderie between people. It s also worth noting that Joy is personified and also shown as being the
daughter of Elysium which is another term for Heaven. Imbuing this property to Joy as being a
heavenly byproduct, while throughout the poem encouraging

The Domains Of It Infrastructure
In this paper we will discuss some cases within the Seven Domains of IT infrastructure in which some
bad things that could happen. Most cases are within the possibility of reality while some are very far
out there and most likely would not happen. This is based on a Kansas Marketing Firm. The first
domain is the user domain. The most logical thing that could go wrong is that an employee could and
most likely will at some point, forget security policies and accidentally exposed the networks to
malicious files or code. This is done by uploading something off a foreign data transfer device such as
a flash drive. This could cause problems with the entire system if the malicious program is a virus. A
more non logical problem would be if a disgruntled employee purposely tries to take down the system
or steals information that is considered sensitive. While this happens it is less logical than accidently
exposure. The worst thing that could happen is that the malicious code wipes out your servers,
removes all data and causes massive production loss and most likely a loss of profit. This is countered
with strong policies and physical security to derail these problems. The second domain is the
workstation domain. The threats to this would be similar to the first domain because if a user does
something malicious on that workstation, it would affect a larger area of the domain. Another problem
is that workstations run programs that are susceptible to bugs and crashes. If

Vietnam, took place between 1954 to 1974 and resulted in over 3 million dead of which 58,000 of
those were Americans2. The war was a political battle fought between the Viet Cong of North Vietnam

war also affected the United States of America. One post war example of this effect was the anti war

Birds Eye Scandal
Birds Eye, the biggest brand in the frozen food market, had recently seen its value decreased by 5%
year on year, with its volume sales decreasing by 0.9%. Figures from IRI Worldwide had shown sales
of frozen food as a whole decline by 1.5% year on year for 52 weeks. While the brand s sales are
down, consumer perceptions of Birds Eye remained strong. According to YouGov Brand Index, the
brand had the highest score within the frozen food category when it came to quality, value, reputation
and satisfaction. The horse meat scandal in Europe resulted in foods being advertised to contain beef
were found to contain undeclared or improperly declared horse meat. Fortunately the British division
of Bird s Eye wasn t hit by the horse meat scandal in 2013. However, the scandal most definitely had
an effect on the industry as a whole. Over the last few years, Birds Eye has gone after a faster growing

Letting Go
Letting go. It is difficult for us in so many ways and on so many levels. Yet life calls upon us to do it,
over and over again. Letting go is part of our growth process. We cannot move on to the new while
continuing to cling to the old. There come times, in the context of love and romance, when we must
learn to let go. For some of us, as described in the song, we must let go of a past romantic relationship.
Maybe the relationship was not meant to be: perhaps it was hurtful to us, or perhaps it was hindering
the personal or spiritual growth of one or both partners. In this case, even when there may still be
feelings of passion, or attraction, or just the comfort of the familiar, we must be strong in letting go of
something that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often adult children who have lost a parent before working through interpersonal issues, or before
having an opportunity to say goodbye, have difficulty letting go of unresolved issues or guilt.
Sometimes we may need to go for some counseling or do a ritual (some act with personal meaning) to
allow us to release these emotions. Many of us have trouble letting go of old ways of viewing people
who have been part of our lives for an extended period of time. They may be changing, and yet we do
not let go of viewing them in the same way, and/or we try to discourage that change. We refuse to let
go of the labeling, categorizing, and pre set expectations we have of those we know, and of ourselves.
This seems particularly true of many parents of teenage or young adult children. Many parents have a
difficult time letting go of them as children, and allowing them to grow up. It is hard for parents to
make that transition from treating their children as kids, to treating them as adults and more like
friends. Many of these same parents have trouble letting go of viewing themselves, primarily, in the
role of parent. For instance, some mothers are afraid to let their kids become grownups, because they
are afraid to let go of their own identity as mother. They have become so identified with that one role,
that they no longer are sure who they are, outside of that role. When we refuse to let go of old ways of
identifying and viewing ourselves and others,

The Effect Of Photosynthesis On Plants And The Cycle Of...
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now. This anonymous quote is a
direct reference to the issue of pollution, and the ramifications and effects it has on plants and the
cycle of photosynthesis. Pollution not only directly effect plants and the cycle of photosynthesis, but
pollution can also indirectly harm other elements that contribute to the life of a plant and the cycles it
performs.
Photosynthesis is the cycle in which light energy converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose and
oxygen by ways of a chemical reaction (Robinson 2015). Photosynthesis , overall a fairly simple
process, has couple complex reactions. To fully understand the cycle, it should be broken down into
two simple stages. These stages can be divided up into light reactions and the Calvin Cycle. In the first
step of photosynthesis, the light reaction, solar energy is converted into the form of chemical energy.
This entails the chlorophyll absorbing light from the sun and transforming it into NADP+ (nicotin
amide ademine dinucleotide phosphate) and ATP, through means of a chemical reaction. During the
second stage, the Calvin cycle, the plant takes in CO2, and processes it through the chloroplast.
Following it converts the carbons into carbohydrates by adding electrons using chemical energy such
as ATP. The end result of this stage is sugar and oxygen. The process of photosynthesis occurs
primarily in the chlorophyll of the leaf. The leaf also has a structural

Young Martha, a four track EP, seems to hit at every emotion. The opening track Homie is backed by a
thundering bass and daunting organ keys that only make Thug s voice even more intriguing as he yells
about his life on the street as a child. Meek Mill, a Philadelphian rapper. also hops on this track to
discuss life in the streets before fame. The second track on the EP Liger is overtaken by a complex
Carnage beat consisting of short flute notes and a heavy base. Thug raps over the beat about how he
wants to be his own person and not be like his fellow hip hop peers. He says Everybody got tigers, so I
wanna go get a liger in reference to setting his own trends. The third song of the EP 10,000 Slimes
pays homage to his previous Slime Season tapes where he raps about the high expectations he has to
live up to for his friends, family, and children. On the final track of the tape Carnage does what he
does best as he creates a catchy EDM beat that allows Thug to step out of his usual trap based aura

Impact Of Environmental Communication On Public Sphere On...
Title: Impact of Environmental Communication in Public Sphere on Urban Youth in Gujarat 1
Introduction Environment has attained centrality in the national and international arena in the past few
decades. The primary reason for this has been environmental degradation as a consequence of varied
socio economic, institutional and technological factors. The need for sensitisation is imperative and
which can be substantially achieved through legislation and communication. Communication designs
of environmental issues influence public awareness, opinion, and action. Environmental awareness or
the subsequent lack thereof, have been on a rise for a while now with rise in population, changing
political ideologies, increased private investments and overall privatisation and a dominant enshrining
of the pro development philosophy of the West. With such tendencies, as humans grow in number, so
does the dependency on nature and the lookout for space, an insatiable cycle of production and
consumption commences and with this, the Earth our primary producer is reduced to commodity
status. In a world dominated by human beings, where often the rights of the natural world and of
animals dependent on it, are trampled upon, communication can play an important role in providing a
channel for expression, discussion and action. Industrialisation continues to displace indigenous
people on a large scale level resulting in various grassroots movements, all in the name of
development. People

Cross Cultural Communication Essay
The three cultures that are involved in cross cultural communication are the Missionary s Culture
Context, the Bible Culture Context, and the Respondent s Culture Context. The Missionary s culture is
a missionaries understanding and interpretation of the Bible according to their upbringing in the
gospel, and their traditions. For example, I grew up in the Methodist Church, and singing hymns is a
part of our worship and culture. Some modernize Churches do not necessary care for hymns, because
it seems to turn off the younger generation from attending Church. Therefore, the modern Church may
only sing a hymn on a special occasion to honor their heritage, but they do include hymns as part of
their weekly worship. Nevertheless, no matter the cultural differences God loves diversity (Winter,
2009, p. 354). As I reflect over my culture there is not too much difference in the Bible culture, we
praise and worship, fast and pray many are still judgmental and prejudice, and slander and cheat.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 states History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun
is truly new. Therefore, in my opinion the culture only changes when we change. Unfortunately, some
people cast believers to the side when we do change, but now as I reflecting on this topic, it really just
gives us an opportunity to create a more Christ like culture, the way God intended it to be since the
beginning of time.
The Bible Culture Context is the foundational key to

  • 3. Social Commentary In Remember The Titans One of the most common controversial issues in America today is racism. Boaz Yakin, director of Remember the Titans, brings yet another memorable movie associating with this controversial issue that has shown to be timeless. Remember the Titans does not only feature terrific performances, but is also an inspirational film that has a good amount of social commentary. This film follows the lives of two schools in Alexandria, Virginia in the 1970s. These two schools integrate forming T.C. Williams High School whose European American head coach is replaced by an African American coach from North Carolina. The titans now have to overcome two different races coming together to form their team which causes tension throughout the community. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two main characters, that I would say, on the team were Gerry, played by Ryan Douglas Hurst, and Julius, played by Wood Hayes. They hated the way each other acted and they would not acknowledge that the other was even a person. Their different races really affected their relationship. They were like enemies. They hated the thought of having to play on the same football team. Playing with your enemies wasn t the ideal situation for them, but they were too determined for the love of the game that they wouldn t let their other teammates hold them back. After playing together, they started noticing that their differences were unrecognizable and being teammates resulted in friendship. Gerry and Julius finally realized that skin color should not hold them back from friendship, or being teammates. Even though their appearances were different on the outside, they were the same on the inside and obviously shared interests. They both noticed that they had developed a lot of trust and respect for one another. They worked together to overcome the racial issues and to heal the conflict. The quote, Trusting a man s soul rather than their color really comes into play with the relationships within this movie. Their relationship is now strong and they are built on respect and ... • 4. The Term Cochlear Amplifier, Coined By Thomas Gold The term cochlear amplifier, coined by Thomas Gold in 1948, can be described as a positive feedback mechanism whereby outer hair cells amplify displacements of the basilar membrane in the cochlea. It characterises the collection of processes that increase sound vibrations in the inner ear (Ashmore Gale, 2004). Sounds are generated by movement of air molecules that create changes in air pressure. These changes in pressure are called compressions, when the molecules are closer together, and rarefication, when the molecules are less densely packed and are cyclic, thus making a pressure wave. The human auditory system is able to respond to these pressure waves over a range of about 20 hertz (Hz) to 20,000 Hz. The intensity of a sound is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This electromotility of the OHCs has been attributed to the motor protein, prestin, which is embedded in the cell membrane, and it is the role of these mechanical changes that has been identified in amplifying the vibrations of the cochlea in the transduction of sound (Zheng et al., 2000). The outcome is an enhancement of the basilar membrane amplitude by more than one hundred times (Davies, 2014). The key to the cochlea amplifier mechanism is the prestin motor protein as it is this that underlies the activity of the OHCs. On the apical surface of sensory hair cells are finger like projections, forming hair bundles, called stereocilia. These stereocilia bathe in a cochlear fluid containing about 145 mM of potassium which is called endolymph. The deflection of a single stereocilium invokes a pull on a spring which links to the tip of the neighbouring stereocilium and thus pulls it in the same direction. A domino effect subsequently occurs until the whole hair bundle has been moved. This process causes mechanically gated transducer channels, which are non selectively permeable to cations and are located at the base of the tip links, to open. This provides a passage for potassium to enter the hair cells down its electrochemical gradient as the electric potential of the endolymph, +80 mV, is much greater than that of the hair cell body, between 55 mV and 70 ... • 5. Assess the significance of individual cases in changing... Since the 19th century, law enforcement and punishment has developed rapidly into the justice system we rely on today. Obscure laws that had become irrelevant in an industrial and post industrial era were fast being replaced, and despite its lack of existence at the beginning of the 1800 s, policing standards are, today, high. The necessity for this drastic change in approach to crime has stemmed from the needs of industrial Britain, and the increased awareness of the public, and government, and their perception of crime and punishment. Rather than individual cases having a direct impact on these changes, in general they provide an insight as to the reactions of the public at the time, and along with the myriad of other cases, allow us ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Tolpuddle Martyrs are a significant case in showing the increased involvement of the public in speaking against the justice system. In 1834, members of the Friendly Society of Agricultural Labourers were transported under an outdated law that prohibited the taking of oaths, when they protested for a better wage. Perhaps what brought the most sympathy for the case was the fact that their protest was peaceful, despite the history of violent protest among workers with riots and groups such as the Luddites. The authorities were equally unsympathetic to this case as they were to the other, more violent movements. Even after public interest attracted an 800,000 signature petition, protesters were oppressed at a demonstration in Oldham. The public was aware of the struggles of the poor worker, but the government still dismissed it; refusing to recognise the desperate circumstance of workers and citing greed as the motive of the Martyrs. Clearly the case had little impact on government opinions, with the treatment of the Chartists and the Rebecca Rioters later in the same decade being the same. But an important contribution of the Tolpuddle Martyrs case was the impact it had on public opinion, and the increased popularity of worker s unions. This case might suggest that reform is unrelated to the attitudes of society at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Determinism And Free Will In Harry Potter And The Prisoner... The controversy of whether the doctrine of determinism or free will guides us throughout our life is constantly debated. Is there a superior being that determines everything that occurs, or are humans free to do whatever they choose? In stories, the collaboration of fate and free will propels the actions of characters throughout the plot. In J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, there is a certain fate ordained, but there is free will that brings the characters to their fates. On the contrary, the chorus of Euripides Medea states the gods find a way, against all expectation, to do what they want...And that is exactly how this case turned out (Euripides 1467 1469), suggesting that whatever Medea does is constrained the the fate determined by the gods. That she enacts the judgement of the gods is what she considers the bindings of fate, but under the lens of Harry Potter, Rowling would treat this as free will that endows fate. The notion that there is a superior force that decides fate is present in the novel and the play, although the extent of this power contrasts. Dumbledore acts as a semi god figure in Harry Potter, determining the fates of Buckbeak and Sirius Black by pushing Hermione and Harry to use the Time Turner. Had he not opened up this possibility to them, the salvation of the doomed characters would not have been possible. As the events unfold with the time travel, Buckbeak s liberation from execution leads Dumbledore to remark How ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Gothic Literature Assignment Gothic Literature Writing Assignment Gothic Literature can be defined as writing that includes a horrifying atmosphere, petrifying characters, and an unimaginable conflict. Many of Edgar Allan Poe s stories can meet this criteria, but one can fit it the best. This would be The Black Cat. This is primarily because of the creepy underground environment, the evil antagonist within the protagonist, and the conflict of the story. First, the setting of the character can very much be shown as a part of gothic literature requirements. In the beginning, the story explains how after the narrator had done a reprehensible act by harming and later killing the innocent cat he loved so dearly, his house was caught in flames, and he lost all of his wealth. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The character was awaken to poverty. His entire life was sucked down the drain and he then lived in an underground shelter , later quoted, the cellar of the old building which our poverty compelled us to inhabit (Cat 23). The building adds a more mysterious sensation for the reader to consume. Although stories like The Murder of Rue Morgue can have a creepier environment, the story The Black Cat, can fit the criteria for the setting requirements in gothic literature. This is because the environment is known for being more eerie than the others. For example, The Masque of the Red Death is set in an isolated alley and gives an off feeling, but The Black Cat is a more modern way of a creepier setting. The abandoned building can affect more modern stories, because they are the places where murders or other gruesome events typically occur. Next, in most gothic literature novels, the main character, whether that be the protagonist or antagonist, are usually thought as sinister or menacing. These few stipulations can undoubtedly be classified in the story The Black Cat, because the character undergoes many evil things within himself. • 10. International Business Systems And Porter s Diamond Model Porter s Diamond Model provides companies with four reliant factors that fully depend on the state of each other to achieve success within a competitive environment. However, Curran (2001) claims that Porter s Diamond Model does not fully explain a country s competitive advantage since only two factors provide evidence of their competitive position. The used factors are company rivalry, strategy, and factor endowments. With reference to the competitive positions of countries within major economies, factor endowments comprising of land, capital, labor, advanced technology and materials as stated in Porter s theory, a government is responsible for contributing toward a company s physical infrastructure (Porter 1998). National Business Systems and Porter s Diamond Model in major economies It is only through industrial effort that a firm can attain or maintain its competitive advantage. Correspondingly, a determined business system will focus on competitive advantage fundamentals such as the chief role of creativity and the scope of challenges and pressure. Such detail exposes the management of a business to perceived shortcuts to success, which are actually failures. The implementation of Porter s Diamond attempts to provide research results with fewer costs and risks as well. Through appropriate leadership techniques suggested in the model, it is evident that the origin of competitive advantage is a firm s management. • 11. Propaganda Techniques Of Today s Advertising By Ann... In Propaganda Techniques in Today s Advertising by Ann McClintock, the author discusses how Americans are being brainwashed by advertisements and the different techniques they use to catch our attention. Ads are simply everywhere we look, it is impossible to get through the day without seeing one. All advertising companies put tons of research into how consumers spend money or even vote. Once these companies finish their research, they create advertisements that appeal to the masses. The basic propaganda techniques that McClintock writes about are Name Calling, Glittering Generalities, Transfer, Testimonial, Plain Folks, Card Stacking, and Bandwagon. Each one of these propaganda techniques is used in specific ways by advertisers to sell their product or service to consumers. I have selected a political ad which uses the Glittering Generalities technique, a coffee ad that uses Transfer technique, a soda ad that uses the Testimonial technique, and a soup ad that uses the Name Calling technique. First, the political ad I choose used the Glittering Generalities technique in which the Donald Trump used a certain slogan in hopes to sway voters. In this ad Mr. Trump is telling potential voters that a vote for him is a vote to take back our country. The phrase used is vague and may not mean the same to you as it does to me. McClintock states, The ads for politicians and political causes often use glittering generalities because such buzzwords can influence votes (698). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The world is ageing rapidly. People aged 60 and older make up 12.3 per cent of the global population, and by 2050, that number will rise to almost 22 per cent according to the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF). In the United States of America, the older population defined as persons 65 years or older numbered 46.2 million in 2014.They represented 14.5% of the U.S. population, about one in every seven Americans. • 13. Entry Market For P G Pampers Division Next Year Three countries I choose to be the target markets are Mexico, India, and China; and I recommend Mexico as the entry market for P G Pampers Division next year. In order to explain the reasons why I recommend Mexico, I am going to compare and contrast the three countries of the status quo in economics, population, health, business climate (trade), and industry macroscopically. Before analyzing, I have three important points to emphasize in order to explain the reasons why I choose these certain levels and fields. First, due to the limit resources I have right now, it is impossible for me to find out the micro level information within each country, which include people s willingness of acceptance the imported goods, the degree of dependence on local brands, the market share of the local pamper brands in the local market, and the market saturation of pamper products. As the result, I decide to examine these countries in a macro level. Second, since we are only aiming to find the entry market, we do not have to firstly worry about the financial status quo such as investment flows, debt controls, or inflation rate. Third, my analysis is based on 2014 s data and information provided by global EDGE; I am not using any current news or updated policies in each country as the analyzing standards. For example, China s recent policy of allowing each couple to have two children would definitely affect the demographics of population and population growth, whereas I am not going to use ... Many people tend to think of historical LGBT figures as being artists, authors, poets, and musicians, but they occupied many powerful positions in government as well. In times where homosexuality could be punishable by execution or torture, keeping these attractions a secret was often a matter of life and death, especially for the monarchs who lived highly publicized lives. His obsession with witch hunts inspired Shakespeare s Macbeth , and he was known to watch suspected witches being tortured for information. He also was responsible for the King James Bible, the modern translation we still use today. Outside of his marriage, James had close relationships with many of his male courtiers. James was said to be especially close to George Villiers, who James later made Duke of Buckingham. Poet Théophile de Viau said it is well known that the king of England has union with the Duke of Buckingham , and the Duke himself revealed in a letter (link 2) that he had slept in the same bed as the king many times. In fact, secret passages have been found in James castle linking his bedroom to the room of the Duke. Before his involvement with the Duke of Buckingham, James also showed an interest in Robert Carr. They first met at a jousting competition, where Carr broke his leg. James became immediately interested in Carr, (link 3) and sat at his bedside while his leg healed, teaching Carr to speak Latin. 8. • 15. Character Analysis Of Silence Of The Lambs Silence of the Lambs focuses on two main characters with problematic mental disorders: Hannibal Lector and Buffalo Bill. Both of these characters appear to have anti social personality disorder (ASPD). Based on diagnostic criteria from the DSM 5, significant impairments must be present in personality functioning as well as interpersonal functioning. This can be present in either identity or self direction. These ideas of self functioning are focused on personal gratification from goals and self esteem, and result from personal gain, power, or pleasure. This characteristic is present in both characters, as they feel a sense of pleasure and gain from killing their victims. Hannibal Lector would eat body parts of his victims, and Buffalo Bill would collect the skin of his victims. This also demonstrates the characters failing to conform to lawful, ethical behavior. Next, interpersonal functioning impairments are present in empathy or intimacy. Empathy is the lack of feelings or remorse for others, which is vividly seen in Hannibal Lector s scenes throughout the movie. For example, after Lector has killed the police officers in his cell, he stands around, swaying as music plays, content with what he has just done, instead of feeling bad or guilty about the murders. In Buffalo Bill s home, the senator s daughter is seen trapped a well like structure, screaming for help. Meanwhile, Buffalo Bill acts oblivious to her suffering and is not affected or remorseful about it. The DSM 5 also describes those affected by antisocial personality disorder as having pathological personality traits in antagonism and disinhibition. While antagonism has several defining characteristics, callousness and hostility are present throughout the movie, as well as disinhibition characterized by risk taking behaviors. The other evident qualifications include these expressions not understood as being normative, not due to the effects of substance or medications, and the characters being over eighteen years old. The only symptom that is not apparent in the movie is whether or not these impairments are stable across time and consistent across situations. It is unknown how long Hannibal Lector and Buffalo Bill had symptoms of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Christine Macleod s Essay In Christine Macleod s essay, The Politics of Gender, Language and Hierarchy in Mamet s Oleanna , she uses an approach that differs from the common belief by critics that David Mamet comments about political correctness in his play titled, Oleanna . Through the analysis of the play along with numerous sources, Macleod argues her idea that the spectators of the play seem to dwell on the antagonist s Carol s advantage over the protagonist, John, as a result of her gender. In fact, Macleod argues that it is Carol s struggle for power that truly highlights her in a negative light and is the true engagement within the play. Despite holding a viewpoint which deeply contrasts the standard belief by viewers that Mamet s Oleanna deals with gender, Christine Macleod proves with solid arguments in her essay that David Mamet calls for more attention to hierarchy and language, and uses other factors as an addition to the plot which simply blurs everything else; this is evidently a flawed statement as Macleod fails to realize her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christine Macleod begins her essay with a vague abstract that looks at the viewpoints of different critics and scholars all of whom side with the idea that Oleanna focuses predominantly on the struggle between genders, feminist concerns, and Mamet s own take on his play. She examines how since its release, Oleanna and Mamet have been subject to major criticism, as the critics themselves have distorted the subtleties of the dramatic action by representing the play as a mere fussilade in the so called war between the sexes (200). From the Mongols to recent terrorist organizations like Islamic State, these political organizations have a bad habit of destroying works of art. Moreover, this is only seen being done by political organizations that seek change or control over the world. The most recent and impactful of which being the Nazi party, Taliban, and Islamic state. This area is incredibly interesting because art is being destroyed right under our noses, not many people understand the impact of the history behind these works of art that are now destroyed, and it happens over and over throughout human history. What is very peculiar about this is that not many people really consider the motivation behind all of the destruction and vandalism. This begs the question, what causes political organizations to destroy works of art in their quest for political power? For the past few years the world has begun to really understand the affects and the power that the terrorist organization Islamic State holds. The main source of media coverage of Islamic state ranges from the murdering of innocent people to the destruction of ancient works of art. In October 2003, San Diego experienced the Cedar Fire that claimed 273,246 acres, 2,820 structures, and 15 lives (CAL FIRE, 2015). It gained the moniker, The Hundred Year Fire because another fire of its magnitude was not expected for another 100 years (San Diego Fire Facts, 2016). This expectation was short lived because four years after this fire in October 2007, San Diego experienced the largest wildfire in history (San Diego Fire Facts, 2016). This fire gained the name, Witch Fire (CAL FIRE, 2015). These fires highlighted that there were not enough fire fighters and resources to combat such fires. They highlighted areas that lacked emergency service protection and showed a lack of preparedness (San Diego Fire Facts, 2016). • 19. Orchid of Bayou Reaction Paper Orchid of the Bayou Reaction Paper October 7, 2010 The book Orchid of the Bayou was eye opening. Cathryn (Kitty) Hoffpauir Fischer did a good job of being honest, which really allowed the reader to get a better understanding of what being deaf in this time period meant. Her writing really allowed me to see the different struggles that deaf children had to face, and how these struggles were overcome by Kitty. This book taught me many things about Deaf culture. First, this book allowed me to see the negative way in which deaf people were perceived. This book is not old by any means, and I was taken aback by the way deaf children were perceived by not only others in the community, but often times by their own parents as well. The term ... Now schools for the deaf are more common, and deaf children can attend mainstream public schools also; making it apparent that just because a child is deaf does not mean that they are dumb by any means. Also, Kitty has a disease called Usher Syndrome. Before reading this book I had never heard of it, and thus never realized how common it really is. This disease takes away two vital senses; hearing and vision. Kitty really opens up about her fears about losing her sight. The idea of total isolation is scary, without a doubt, and in my opinion she handles it with more courage than I could have ever imagined. Sign language is visual, and once Kitty loses her ability to see it will be very difficult to communicate with her family, and nearly impossible to communicate with hearing people who she most of the time needs an interpreter to communicate with anyways. I was very impressed by Kitty s courage throughout her life. As a child she is extremely brave considering she in unable to communicate with her family, and is very confused by most of what goes on in her life because of this communication barrier. Kitty makes the best of her situation regardless. As she gets older she shows extreme courage again as her father faces alcoholism and struggles to keep food on the table for the family. • 24. Theme Of Symbolism In Young Goodman Brown Symbolism within Young Goodman Brown Within many Gothic works, symbolism is profoundly used, especially in the tale of Young Goodman Brown written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Was Faith his innocent companion or his trust in his religion? Why does Faith wear pink ribbons, innocence much like that of a child or a deep symbolic meaning? Deception is yet another symbol within this tale, because not everything is as it seams. By Faith, representation of colors, and deception, Hawthorne demonstrates Gothic symbolism within his tale of Young Goodman Brown . Faith is trust and belief in someone or something, mainly within religious practices. However, Faith has also become a popular name. Within the passage, Faith is the name of Goodman Brown s wife. In the beginning, Faith desperately begs Brown to stay at home instead of departing on the journey for the reason that Faith was timid and scared to death. However, as most men do, he does not listen and went on his expedition anyways; he left his dear Faith behind. By leaving his wife Faith, Brown also leaves behind his actual faith in God on his journey in to the forest (Stoehr 393). Therefore, in his short story Hawthorne symbolizes Brown s wife as his own faith. By leaving her, it demonstrates him leaving not only his wife, but his faith. Schiller s Ode to Joy generally speaks about brotherhood, joy, and drinking. Which if being experienced all at the same time, gives a sense of camaraderie between people. • 26. The Domains Of It Infrastructure In this paper we will discuss some cases within the Seven Domains of IT infrastructure in which some bad things that could happen. Most cases are within the possibility of reality while some are very far out there and most likely would not happen. This is based on a Kansas Marketing Firm. The first domain is the user domain. The most logical thing that could go wrong is that an employee could and most likely will at some point, forget security policies and accidentally exposed the networks to malicious files or code. This is done by uploading something off a foreign data transfer device such as a flash drive. This could cause problems with the entire system if the malicious program is a virus. A more non logical problem would be if a disgruntled employee purposely tries to take down the system or steals information that is considered sensitive. While this happens it is less logical than accidently exposure. The worst thing that could happen is that the malicious code wipes out your servers, removes all data and causes massive production loss and most likely a loss of profit. This is countered with strong policies and physical security to derail these problems. The second domain is the workstation domain. The threats to this would be similar to the first domain because if a user does something malicious on that workstation, it would affect a larger area of the domain. Another problem is that workstations run programs that are susceptible to bugs and crashes. If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many of us have trouble letting go of old ways of viewing people who have been part of our lives for an extended period of time. They may be changing, and yet we do not let go of viewing them in the same way, and/or we try to discourage that change. We refuse to let go of the labeling, categorizing, and pre set expectations we have of those we know, and of ourselves. This seems particularly true of many parents of teenage or young adult children. Many parents have a difficult time letting go of them as children, and allowing them to grow up. It is hard for parents to make that transition from treating their children as kids, to treating them as adults and more like friends. Many of these same parents have trouble letting go of viewing themselves, primarily, in the role of parent. This anonymous quote is a direct reference to the issue of pollution, and the ramifications and effects it has on plants and the cycle of photosynthesis. Pollution not only directly effect plants and the cycle of photosynthesis, but pollution can also indirectly harm other elements that contribute to the life of a plant and the cycles it performs. Photosynthesis is the cycle in which light energy converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen by ways of a chemical reaction (Robinson 2015). Photosynthesis , overall a fairly simple process, has couple complex reactions. To fully understand the cycle, it should be broken down into two simple stages. These stages can be divided up into light reactions and the Calvin Cycle. In the first step of photosynthesis, the light reaction, solar energy is converted into the form of chemical energy. This entails the chlorophyll absorbing light from the sun and transforming it into NADP+ (nicotin amide ademine dinucleotide phosphate) and ATP, through means of a chemical reaction. During the second stage, the Calvin cycle, the plant takes in CO2, and processes it through the chloroplast. Following it converts the carbons into carbohydrates by adding electrons using chemical energy such as ATP. The end result of this stage is sugar and oxygen. The process of photosynthesis occurs primarily in the chlorophyll of the leaf. The leaf also has a structural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Title: Impact of Environmental Communication in Public Sphere on Urban Youth in Gujarat 1 Introduction Environment has attained centrality in the national and international arena in the past few decades. The primary reason for this has been environmental degradation as a consequence of varied socio economic, institutional and technological factors. The need for sensitisation is imperative and which can be substantially achieved through legislation and communication. Communication designs of environmental issues influence public awareness, opinion, and action. Environmental awareness or the subsequent lack thereof, have been on a rise for a while now with rise in population, changing political ideologies, increased private investments and overall privatisation and a dominant enshrining of the pro development philosophy of the West. With such tendencies, as humans grow in number, so does the dependency on nature and the lookout for space, an insatiable cycle of production and consumption commences and with this, the Earth our primary producer is reduced to commodity status. Cross Cultural Communication Essay The three cultures that are involved in cross cultural communication are the Missionary s Culture Context, the Bible Culture Context, and the Respondent s Culture Context. The Missionary s culture is a missionaries understanding and interpretation of the Bible according to their upbringing in the gospel, and their traditions. For example, I grew up in the Methodist Church, and singing hymns is a part of our worship and culture. Some modernize Churches do not necessary care for hymns, because it seems to turn off the younger generation from attending Church. Therefore, the modern Church may only sing a hymn on a special occasion to honor their heritage, but they do include hymns as part of their weekly worship. Nevertheless, no matter the cultural differences God loves diversity (Winter, 2009, p. 354). As I reflect over my culture there is not too much difference in the Bible culture, we praise and worship, fast and pray many are still judgmental and prejudice, and slander and cheat. Ecclesiastes 1:9 states History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. Therefore, in my opinion the culture only changes when we change. Unfortunately, some people cast believers to the side when we do change, but now as I reflecting on this topic, it really just gives us an opportunity to create a more Christ like culture, the way God intended it to be since the beginning of time.
