Case Study Age Related Macular Degeneration
If you were a retina specialist, how would the data in this case affect your drug procurement
processes, your clinical practices, and your recommendations to patients? Would that decision be
affected by the fact that Medicare allows a markup of 6% on outpatient injectable?
It is no secret that health care delivery is impacted by economic factors and physicians are face each
day with the dilemma of how to enhance their practice bottom line. However, my practice will be
concern with my patients choice of treatment. Even, when the use Lucentis would increase my
practice profits my approach will be patient choice through educating them regarding both available
medicines and have access to both drugs.

Heat treatment
Weight data and images showing the physical appearance of the BPs are shown in Figure 3 and 4,
respectively. Acetone cleaned AD BPs lost approximately 26, 48, and 32 % of their weight, whereas
methanol cleaned AD BPs decreased their weight by around 29, 40, and 34 % at 300 ˚C for 90 min,
350 ˚C for 60 min, and 300 ˚C for 120 min, respectively. HiPco BPs lost about 22, 5, and 1 % at 350
˚C for 30 min, 300 ˚C for 30 min, and 250 ˚C for 30 min, respectively. However, when we
recalculated the weight change from the theoretical weight of AD BPs considering the surfactant
effect, + 5, 25, and 2 % weight of acetone cleaned AD BP were changed after HT at the first (300 ˚C
90 min), second (350 ˚C 60 min), and third (300 ˚C 120 min) conditions while there were + 5, 13, and
0 % changes in weight for methanol cleaned AD BPs. As a result, at the first and third conditions, the
weight change of AD BPs weight change was minimal and while for HiPco BPs weight change was
minimal at the second and the third conditions.
Methanol cleaned AD BPs were either swirled or become brittle even before heat treatment (Figure 4).
Acetone cleaned AD BPs also showed a similar pattern but only at the first condition, the samples
keeping the physical integrity. HiPco BPs did not manifest any change in appearance or integrity
throughout the experiment and the samples were very flexible.

Parliamentary And Presidential System Of Government
Parliamentary and Presidential System of Government: An Analysis of Modus Operandi,
Characteristics and Effects in a Political Community. A presidential system of government is one in
which power lies in the hands of an elected individual known as the head of state and the head of
government as well. It is composed of checks and balances of which power is separated into other
tiers of government such as the legislative and judicial arms of government. The legislative is broken
down into upper and lower chamber elected by the people. The cabinet is primarily appointed by the
president upon emergence into power. A parliamentary system of government on the other hand has
the office of the head of government and head of state divided among the Prime minister and the
monarch often represented by the governor general respectively. The parliament consists of
legislatures from the upper and lower chamber. Its cabinet which are members of the political
executive is also appointed by the prime minister and they are both answerable to the parliament, as
parliament are answerable to the people. In this paper we are going to examine the characteristics of
both system of government, their impacts in our society as well as the benefits and detriments of both
systems of government, then we draw conclusion on which system is the most preferable. A
presidential system of government supersedes a parliamentary system of government because of its
role in ensuring adequate separation of powers

The Reality Of Television Series
We live in a century where most all the things are normal in today s day, or maybe that is the way I see
things. I was born in the 90 s, where most of the children didn t have a cellphone, instead they had
bicycles, dirt and not stress at all. There were good times back then. Today we have smart phones,
laptops, tablets, and of course we have Netflix, a global provider of streaming movies and TV series. I
have to mention that there is one TV show in particular that has captivated my eyes, its name; The
Walking Dead . Maybe the title of this American horror drama television series sounds a little
mysterious and scary, first of all, because the serious shows a world overrun by zombies, but besides
that, I have learned a lot from this TV show. One of the first things that I want to mention is that I like
this TV show not because it has a lot of suspense and special effects, but for the way it can easily be
related to this world. The Walking Dead is about a sheriff who awakens from a long comma to
confront a new world full of zombies that he never could imagine he would live. He reunites with his
family and becomes the leader of a group he forms with other survivors. Together they struggle to
survive in and adapt to a world filled with zombies and some humans who are even more dangerous
than the zombies themselves, but, why I relate this series with our world? We don t kill zombies, or
have guns. I think each of us has different expectation and I am sure that

The Importance Of Music In The Marble Statue
Music in the Marble Statue Music is a method used across the world to share ideas and tell stories. It
has been used to show emotion and ideas for centuries in countless different civilizations. It has been
used to describe cultures and also tell about people s individual lives. It is also an easy way to portray
emotion and give the listener a look inside the artist s mind. In the Marble Statue by Joseph von
Eichendorff, music is used to show the importance of characters, show the beauty of the story and also
to foreshadow future events. Fortunato s songs throughout the Marble Statue will prove to do all of
these things and have huge importance to the development of the story. The importance of music was
present from the first time that Fortunato met Florio. As their adventure together developed throughout
the story many instances of music occurred. Florio was drawn towards Fortunato due to his famous
voice. When Florio stated, there is the singer Fortunato (4), it proved his knowledge of Fortunato
being a famous singer. He was famous solely for the sound of his voice. His appearance was not
recognizable but his voice drew everyone to him. Every woman, man and child was intrigued and
drawn to Fortunato due to his unbelievable talent. They wanted to be around him, as his celebrity was
unquestionable. During the story, a large party was thrown in a park for Fortunato. Many of his
admirers gathered close to him, just to hear his voice. Florio was comfortable watching from

The Theme Of Denial In Elie Wiesel s Night
In the novel, Night, by Elie Wiesal and the short interview with Franz Stangl, a commandant of death
camps during the Holocaust, the theme of denial appears multiple times. In the piece written by Elie
Wiesal, the people of Sighet looked beyond the truth of reality and ignored Moche the Beadle when he
spoke the truth from his experiences. He told the community that he was deported and then brought
into the woods. Once he arrived, the other deportees and him were told to dig graves; then the soldiers
started slaughtering them void of emotion. Once he escaped, he ran to go tell the community. He told
them his experience and how babies were thrown into the air and the machine gunners used them as
targets (Wiesal 16). After, he announced his

Essay On Formal Writing
13. When should you write like you talk and when is it best to be more formal?
There are two forms of communication: formal and casual. When writing, you need to know your
audience and select your words carefully. Formal writing is used in professional settings, college level
papers, book reports, writing to an authority s figure, or business to allow you to get your point across
without using offensive words or voice. This type of writing is eloquent with proper use of grammar
and phrases to add credibility to what you are saying. Formal writing should never use slang or
abbreviated words. Formal writing is extremely important to allow the writer to create a business
presentation or formal business letter that sounds educated and ... Show more content on

Although, as in formal writing, you cannot always use the same simple words. The use of big words
gives ones writing more punch and helps the reader to improve their vocabulary. It is very important
when using big words that they are used appropriately and do not change the content of what is being
written. A writer needs to use caution when picking big words. If the reader has trouble understanding
the words used then what the writer is trying to say gets lost. Some may also say that using big words
makes the writer look pompous. There is a very fine line between using the precise word, and using a
word that sounds important. It is more important to select the precise word to describe a situation, than
to settle on another word that just doesn t convey the same feeling. As Mark Twain once said, The
difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter it s the difference
between the lightning bug and the lightning. 15. Why is the you viewpoint important and why should
you avoid using the you viewpoint manipulatively?
The you viewpoint helps the writer grab the reader s attention and bases its points on the reader s
interest. The writer needs to concentrate on what the reader needs versus what you want from the
reader. This type of writing strengthens the writer s persuasiveness. You need

Saudi Arabia Women s Rights Violations
Saudi Arabia s women s rights injustices violate a variety of the articles of the Universe Declaration of
Human Rights, proving their abuses to be clear human rights issues. Article 3 of the UDHR clearly
states that Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person ( The Universal ).
Unfortunately, there is a system at work that takes away the liberty of the women of Saudi Arabia.
Journalist Katherine Zoepf has described the guardianship system as a system which requires an adult
woman to get permission from her guardian before traveling overseas or seeking medical care ( Sisters
in ). Not only that, but she also adds that the male relative with responsibility over a Saudi woman
may be her own adolescent son ( Sisters in ). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status ( The Universal ). In Saudi

they cannot be in public without a male chaperone, they cannot swim in swimming pools, they cannot

Western Influence On John Hersey s Characters
Japanese has an immense effect on those in contact with it. Japanese is a culture with divine beliefs
and enormous pride in their culture. John Hersey explores the effects that culture and environment
have on an individual s views and beliefs; a stereotypical Japanese man , an Americanized Japanese
priest, and a widowed Japanese woman all react similarly to the bombing of Hiroshima. The influence
of Japanese culture has an astounding impact on the reactions of Hersey s characters. Japan is a
country of many cultures. Japan s most renowned is the art of the samurai and currently, urbanization.
Due to the American occupation in the pacific, Japanese moved from a cultural masterpiece, to an
eastern constitutional monarchy. Which is generally effected by a western influence. The effect of
Japanese culture on Dr. Sasaki is an example of home pride and cultural pride. Dr.Sasaki has been
surrounded by Japanese culture all his life and he in turn represents stereotypical Japanese culture. Dr.
Sasaki most closely represents stereotypical Japanese culture. As the narrator exclaims, Dr. Sasaki lost

against them. This shows Tanimoto s reaction to a bomb brought by American culture. The American
culture showed that he has to worry about himself before others. In return, he tried saving himself

Abstinence Or Protection
Should We Teach Abstinence or Protection? We ve all heard the saying the best protection from
sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancies is abstinence. But should abstinence be the only source
of protection that students in today s American society should be learning? Reproduction is embedded
in our genes; it is one of the four most important traits being a living organism. Is it in their favor to let
teens and young adults have their first time more confusing and irresponsible when it comes to
intercourse? So many questions pop up when you think about which method would be superior. There
are many measures that can be taken to prevent AIDs and pregnancies. STDs, STIs, and young

The main topics you hear these days when it comes to sex are about how someone has a strong pullout
game or about a pregnancy. It is a falsehood throughout our generation that pulling out during sex and
not ejaculating into a woman s vagina will prevent pregnancies. These are not the things that our
younger generation should grow up with, they are having unprotected sex because they were never
taught the consequences of being unprotected. As ads get sexier and celebrities get sluttier, the word
sex is getting to become more tempting. The article The Mass Media Educate Youth About Sex by
Jane Brown and Sarah Keller states, Typically, those who own and create communications media have
been more concerned with attracting audiences and selling products than they have been promoting
healthy sexuality. Our generation has become embedded with erotic thoughts and actions. Anna
Quindlen mentioned, When I was in high school, at the tail end of the sixties, there was a
straightforward line on sex among my friends. Boys could have it; girls couldn t. A girl who was not a
virgin pretended she was. It was almost unthinkable to talk about sex in earlier generations, or even
mention other aspects of sex instead of the typical man women intercourse. In the article dating back
to the year 2000 by Jane Brown and Sarah Keller they acknowledge, Sexually transmitted diseases

Donna Tartt s The Secret History
The Secret History Theme: The Effect That Choices/Tragedy Has
Donna Tartt s novel expresses the idea that the choices made in our youth will have an impact on our
later lives, be it a few images that create a shadowy presence in the mind of a person throughout their
life, or a completely alternated series of life events. This novel provides the reader with excellent
examples of how negative life events and choices can alter our thoughts and personalities for better or
worse. All five major characters in this novel undergo some degree of change as they struggle to
accept the true weight of their actions.
To illustrate this idea, the character of Charles Macaulay experiences possibly the most prominent
change over the course of this novel. In the early stages of the narrative, Charles is friendly, caring and

Exclusive Breastfeeding
Deciding to breastfeed is one of the best choices you can make for you and your baby. Breast milk has
all the nutrients that your baby needs, when your baby needs them. That is why many women who can
choose to breastfeed exclusively.
A change in hormones during pregnancy causes your breast tissue to grow and increases the number
and size of your milk ducts. These hormones also allow proteins, sugars, and fats from your blood
supply to make breast milk in your milk producing glands. Hormones prevent breast milk from being
released before your baby is born as well as prompt milk flow after birth. Once breastfeeding has

Breastfeeding helps to burn calories and helps you lose the weight gained during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding makes your uterus contract to its prepregnancy size faster and slows bleeding (lochia)
after you give birth.
Breastfeeding helps to lower your risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, and breast
or ovarian cancer later in life.
BENEFITS OF EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING
The more often your baby breastfeeds, the more milk you will produce. By exclusively breastfeeding,
you help to ensure that your baby has an ample supply of milk. Supplementing with water or infant
formula when your baby would otherwise be breastfeeding may send a message to your body that less
milk is needed. Your baby may become full from the supplements and breastfeed less. This can
interfere with the establishment of your milk supply.
Exclusive breastfeeding helps to develop your baby s immune system in a healthy way. Your breast
milk contains antibodies your baby needs to to fight off germs that cause infections. Breastfed babies
are also less likely to develop food allergies. When your baby is introduced to foods other than breast
milk too soon, his or her body is more likely to interpret that food as an allergen, making antibodies
against it. This is what causes food allergies. If your baby breastfeeds less because he or she is also
receiving supplements, he or she may have a harder time fighting infections or be more likely

James Paul Gee s What Is Literacy
If Gee s What is Literacy were a boat, we d all be bailing water.
In recent weeks all of us have been introduced to the essay What is Literacy written by Linguist James
Paul Gee in 1987. Within this document we learn Gee is going to employ his learned skills to provide
a useful definition for the word literacy. Prior to providing us this insight, however, Gee must educate
the reader on various definitions, idea and numerous theories in an effort to provide support for his
conclusions and ultimately woo the reader into believing the postulations he makes. It is my belief that
while Gee is eventually able to turn the reader to his way of thinking, he is not able to as eloquently as
he would like. In fact, upon closer examination, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

immediately adds the adjectives dominant and powerful as a means to better express the meaning of
the definition he has provided in the very next sentences. While I acknowledge that for purpose of this
essay Gee s definition may offer up a viable definition to support his arguments, it is by no means a

The Bihar Fodder Scam
Bihar has become a byword for the worst of India, of widespread and inescapable poverty, of corrupt
politicians indistinguishable from mafia dons they patronise, caste ridden social order that has retained
the worst feudal cruelties....of chronic misrule that has allowed infrastructure to crumble, the
education and health system to collapse, and law and order to evaporate (Long, 2004, p.17 18). India
has witnessed many scams over the years, and the number keeps increasing by the day. It is most
commonly the chief ministers, state and central ministers and members of various political parties who
are often reported for their involvement in scams. This article presents a descriptive and exploratory
analysis of informal money transfer relating to one such infamous case of Bihar Fodder Scam . The
article also delves into the core ethical issues involved, and the best way for the concerned
government bodies to respond to such cases of corruption in order to reduce such misconducts. The
World Bank defines corruption as the abuse of public power for private benefit (Worldbank, 1997).
The Animal Husbandry Scam a.k.a the Fodder Scam, is a clear example of this definition. The case in
question is a consequence of the incessant greed of politicians for money and power. It is reported that
about Rs. 950 crore were embezzled from the government treasuries of Bihar in this 17 year long case
(Indian Express, 2014). Despite being the third most populated state of the country and

Up to twenty five percent of American women suffer from slight thyroid slowdowns. But often the
symptoms go untreated. Some of the symptoms are fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, dry skin, and
thinning hair. We sometimes just think that as we get older things such as weight gain and fatigue get
harder to combat so we don t even ask our doctor if their could be a medical cause. And when we do
many doctors don t recognize the narrow range between normal thyroid function and clinical
hypothyroidism, so borderline problems are often missed. This will not replace a doctors diagnosis but
you can do a simple test that ID a sluggish gland. Do this test in the morning. Take your underarm

digital model for one minute. If it is lower than 97.8 Fahrenheit for three consecutive mornings, you

First a good one to try is steamed veggies. The thyroid depends on iodine to make the hormones that
regulate energy and metabolism. But compounds called goitrogens in cruciferous veggies (such as
broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and kale) can block the body s absorption of iodine. The solution:
Enjoy these veggies steamed since heat deactivates goitrogens. To further safeguard iodine levels,
season one dish per day with powdered kelp. This salty sprinkle delivers 485 mcg of organic iodine.
which is better utilized by the thyroid than the iodine in table salt. Another thyroid booster is selenium.
Even minor selenium shortfalls (which strike one in five women) can impede thyroid function. That s
because the mineral helps the body convert thyroxine hormone into triiodothronine, the active form
that governs body processes. Grains and seeds were once considered great selenium sources but

The Role Of Theatrical Version Of Carlos Espinal
After a long absence from the New York scenarios Carlos Espinal is back with his unipersonal Peter
El Rojo The Gorilla, which premiered at the Dante Hall Theater in Atlantic City, New Jersey and the
National Theater of the Dominican Republic, receiving the best critics from experts on the subject.
This time, the New York premiere will take place at the IATI Theater, a well known cultural institution
that has presented dramatic Latin art for over four decades. The famous Franz Kafka story, A Report to
an Academy narrates in simple words the story of a gorilla, who, after learning how to imitate humans,
finds himself receiving a recognition award from the Royal Academy of Sciences. During his
acknowledgment speech, we come to meet his origins and the true reasons that lead to his learning
how to imitate humans. The theatrical version of Carlos Espinal, takes us even further in our
imagination, for this supposed gorilla turned to civilized man, becomes the voice, a desperate cry of
exasperation from any person who s ever been forced to emigrate to foreign lands. The gorilla learns
new ways to feel accepted by a society that in fact, already rejects him for the sole reason of being
different, or being a foreigner. Gorilla Espinal makes us feel the heartaches of a society castrating and
full of prejudice, a society that doesn t forgive that what s different. It takes us by the hand into a place
many have already turned to a home, and many others have visited at some time

Pasturella Pestis
Pasturella pestis, also called Black Death or plague was remained undiscovered for 500 years. This
lethal decease began in the mid of 13 century and rapidly surpassed borders of Sicily, where it was

through the Central Asia, reached to the most of European countries, and literally extended from India

Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat And Catchy Tunes
The impact that music has on individuals lives varies greatly from person to person and often provides
a unique lifestyle to each individual. An author by the name Oliver Sacks talks about the unique cases
that he has dealt with in the past in his writings. The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat and
Brainworms, Sticky Music, and Catchy Tunes from Musicophilia are two articles written by Oliver
Sacks, which show the relationship that music has on the mind and how music can change how a
person perceives reality. The human mind is a complex machine and yet there is something about
music that transforms a person s thought process completely. On the one hand it can be seen to aid Dr.
P in his everyday life in the article The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat with He can t do
anything unless he makes it a song (Sacks 17); however, in the article Brainworms, Sticky Music, and
Catchy Tunes from Musicophilia, the music acts as an inhibiter to the patients and would repeat
themselves irresistibility in the mind (Sacks 44). In these two articles, Sacks shows just how different
music affects people. Dr. P needs music to get through daily routines, while for other ... Show more

Dr. P thinks a lot like a computer and displayed the same indifference to the visual world as a
computer (Sacks 15). Music opens a new door to perceive the world, but it is not the only way to
perceive it. The world already has a set physical appearance, but music does not. There is a wide range
of opportunity for a single piece of music to be interpreted by two people very

maintain the Salton Sea as a vital link along the Pacific Flyway, (3) minimize noxious odors and other
water and air quality problems, and (4) Permanently protect fish and wildlife that are dependent on the

very useful for its recovery, the Salton Sea still faces possibility that it will dry up.
Back Ground: On March 10, 2011 assembly bill No. 1410 was introduced. This bill was put into
action quickly and amended twice on April 25, 2011 and August 24, 2012. The problem originated in
the 1900s when people were settling from the gold rush. During that time a massive flood was caused
by the engineers of the California Development Company. The idea was to bring water to the desert.
The California Development Company thought it could bring water from the Colorado River to the
new settlement. Everything went as planned, water was now available in one of the driest areas in

Animal Mating And The Development Of Behavioral Characters
Marlene Zuk observes the disputes that arise when nature is explained among various palliative,
humanizing, and political viewpoints in Sexual Selections: What We Can and Can t Learn about Sex
from Animals. She has discovered that biologists and sociologists and the society persist to view the
behavior of animal as human beings behavior. We elucidate such interpretations for our own egoisms,
and that results in us being unaware of what s actually happening with the animals themselves. In this
book, she says The lens of our own self interest not only frequently distorts what we do not see. It also
in important ways determines what we do not see, what we are blind to (Zuk 2). We cannot see how

Zuk highlights that there are risks when we use our analyses of science to approve our own disputes
and political philosophies.
As an evolutionary biologist and feminist, Zuk does not consider eliminating biological elucidations
of behavior, but rather the preferences and stereotypes that impact them. She concedes that there are
variances among males and females, but we should not be connecting values to such variances. Zuk
suggests that a feminist viewpoint can propose a different perspective to biology, one that aids
eradicating the gender preferences that color our insights. In this book, Zuk exhibits a collection of
stories about animal behavior from a varied group of species from bonobos to beetles. She comprises
analyses of these behaviors from scientists, ecofeminists, social scientists, and the mass media,
showing how stereotypes and mythologies might fog our interpretations. In addition, Zuk addresses
the questions behind certain behaviors and characters concerning their connection to evolution or
social habituation. Zuk achieves this with an amusing articulation that keeps readers amused in almost
all chapters. She succeeds to create laughter while teaching biological science, revealing double
standards, and addressing humanizing stereotypes without damaging the significance of these matters.
In three parts split into twelve chapters, Zuk talks about the several preferences, mythologies, and
stereotypes that influence the way we view the

The Colonization Of Uganda And Kenya
1. Introduction
The colonization of Uganda and Kenya is the reason why they are bilateral countries meaning they
share many of the same interest such as political interest, economic interests etc... Being colonized by
the United Kingdom has affected their history forever, and has made it extremely difficult to be in the
same state as the rest of the world but also allowed both countries to be close with each other as they
shared the same experiences. As they gained their independence, they later formed an East African
Community along with Tanzania who was also colonized by the UK which created many benefits in
the long run. In this paper, I will investigate the benefits of the East African Community over time
specifically with Kenya s and Uganda s trade with coffee.
1.1. Coffee History
Coffee trees were first introduced by the French which were located near the capital of Kenya,
Nairobi. Nairobi was used as the nucleus around which Kenyan coffee growing developed. The British
and European farmers became rich by farming coffee on the backs of the Kenyan workers. With more
experience, Kenyan farmers became more and more powerful. With over 1 million Kikuyu tribe
members calling it home they had real land claims according to the Europeans.
While Arabica was introduced at the beginning of the 1900 s, Robusta coffee is indigenous to the
country, and has been a part of Ugandan life for centuries. Over time growing coffee was not seen as a
job but more of a fun activity to do

Text Messaging
Text messaging is a very controversial subject in our society, possibly even in other cultures. Some
complain that texting is overused and abused while others praise the most recent developments and
upgrades of texting. The pervasive use of text messaging in today s society has many facets; however,
the bad is said to outweigh the good. Any individual s perspective on the issue will most likely depend
on their age group or social class. For example, a fifteen year old would appreciate the convenience
and speed of text messaging but a fifty year old would most likely not need the texting function on
their cell phone; therefore, the speed and convenience of text messaging would become irrelevant.

The scarcity of understanding among the groups can cause tension, fighting, and even resentment. The
majority of text message conversations are built on forming a response as soon as you can. No one
really notices that the hidden idea behind this general statement can actually lead to a need for instant
gratification. Not only does this necessity cause severe impatience, it also causes an absence of
attention to many things such as school or one s communal life. When I text during a math or science
class where something has to be explained in steps, I lose all of my focus and do not understand what
the teacher is explaining. This most likely occurs in other types of situations such as business meetings

it demands that better could be afforded driving (Ling 49). Those who take the risk of texting and

Cultural Diversity At Washington Elementary School
For my 5th EDUC Lab, I had to go to a local elementary school and take a walk around its
neighborhood. I was told to observe cultural diversity, types of homes surrounding the school, and
answer a variety of questions regarding the kinds of students that attend the school. I was originally a
bit baffled by the kinds of questions on the sheet like are there any apartment buildings near by? or
where do the children get food? I thought to myself Why do these things matter to a school? And then
as I was going through my walk, I realized that these factors determine the kids of resources the
children have to receive a quality education, and these factors also influence the kinds of resources the
school has to give the children. I never knew such minute details could have such a heavy impact on
education.
I decided to visit Washington Elementary School in Pocatello. I chose to tour this school s
neighborhood because it was close to my own home, and I have no relations with this elementary
school whatsoever. This school was set directly in the middle of a neighborhood, so I believe the
majority of students that attend this elementary school, also live in the neighborhood. The houses
varied from being very nice and well kept homes to a little more run down, but the majority of the
neighborhood looked like a typical middle class neighborhood. There were a few apartment
complexes within the neighborhood and there were a lot of for rent signs outside of houses. There

The Romantic Hero in Pechorin, Onegin, and the Demon Essay...
The Romantic Hero in Pechorin, Onegin, and the Demon
Through examining the works of Lermontov, A Hero of Our Time, and The Demon, as well as Pushkin
s Eugene Onegin, we can see the similarities between Pechorin, the Demon, and Onegin and how each
character embodies the qualities of the romantic hero. A romantic hero is a very contradicting
character. For example, in the History of Russian Literature by Charles A. Moser, he describes the
romantic hero as having the anguish of emptiness; the trembling anxieties of a shallow self love as
well as genuine power and courage; noble aspirations along with ignorance and poor upbringing
(137). All of the traits stated above are very conflicting. Pechorin, Onegin and the Demon, being the ...

Pechorin, being the tactless character he is, treats women as an incentive for endless conquests and
does not consider them worthy of any particular respect. He considers women, such as Princess Mary,
to be little more than a romantic game and they have no meaning to him. This is shown in his
comment on Princess Mary: I often wonder why I m trying so hard to win the love of a girl I have no
desire to seduce and whom I d never marry (Lermontov, 126). This quote is a perfect example of how
Pechorin can be extremely self serving and disregard the feelings of others. It also exemplifies his
inability to return to the strong feelings of love.
Toward the end of the novel we explore Pechorin s final adventures that lead to his downfall and
isolation from society, resulting in his death. It is in his final adventures that we see Pechorin take a
turn for the worse as he says, And perhaps tomorrow I ll die...so why bother to live (Lermontov 157).
In this passage it becomes clear as day that Pechorin has fallen into a deep depression. The constant
change in personality and character is the exact reason that explains how Pechorin is a perfect
example of the literary romantic hero.
Pechorin describes his own personality as self destructive, and he came to the realization that he doesn
t understand his purpose as he constantly questions why he is involved in many situations throughout
the novel. His boredom with life, and feeling of emptiness, gives him

Pride In King Lear Essay
King Lear and Gloucester both blame divine powers, out of pride, when things do not go the way that
they want them to, instead of taking responsibility, and it leads to them losing everything. Once they
have lost everything, they start to see things more clearly and end up earning some redemption before
they die. First, King Lear s pride in the first play, and refusal to accept blame, culminate in terrible
consequences later in the play. His hamartia becomes evident very early on in the play. When he
decides to split his kingdom amongst his daughter, he asks for flattery from them, instead of the truth.

Crumple Zones Science
Introduction Scientists have made a big impact in car safety by using the role of science. They have
created many ways of increasing the possibility to survive a crash, by testing real car crashes and
simulated car crashes. In this one world essay, I m going to talk about how scientists have developed
crumple zones and have made them work against car crashes. Crumple zones Crumple zones, is an
area in the vehicle, that is designed to absorb the energy of the impact when crushing, preventing it
from being transmitted to the passengers inside the car. Scientists are still working on many factors
that need to be worked on in a crash. For example; racecars will have more severe impacts than

The force always is based on the speed and mass of the car, and the speed and mass of whatever the
vehicle hits. What crumple zones do is that they reduce the force of the crush, so the force doesn t
reach to the passengers. When the car crashes into a stationary object, some force is transferred to the
object. ...... Crumple zones and other parts of the car, are built with special materials inside, that are
designed to be damaged and broken. Crumple zones take the most force of the crash as possible, so
the other parts of the car as well as the passengers, don t suffer the effects. Designers can t only worry
about the impact and the absorption of kinetic energy when the car crashes; it has to also focus on
other areas. If the whole car was made out of crumple zones, when the car crashes, the passengers will

Critical, Theological Review of the Film Chocolat Essay
Set in 1950 s France, Chocolat is a film centred on the Catholic virtue of temperance, or rather the
struggle to achieve temperance when the church is faced with the temptation of a 2000 year old
chocolate recipe. Temperance is defined in the catholic encyclopaedia as the righteous habit which
makes a man govern his natural appetite for pleasures of the senses in accordance with the norm
prescribed by reason , and in Chocolat it is the Comte de Reynaud, the major and self appointed moral
authority for the whole community, that attempts to keep check of the villager s carnal passions and
temptations. There is an obvious conflict between the Comte and Vianne Rocher, the single mother

The Comte reacts by slamming the door shut against the wind, forcing it, and its possible changing
qualities, out of the church. It is the season of Lent, and the restrictions of that religious season are
strictly enforced in the village. The citizens are ruled with an iron fist by the mayor and there is little
joy in the village with the inhabitants slaves to the religious oppression of the Comte de Reynaud.
Even the young Catholic priest, Pere Henri is controlled by the mayor. The mayor even tells Pere
Henri at one point, If you haven t seen the chocolaterie, you might want to take a look. It s important
to know one s enemies. Thus, anything and anyone who opposes this man s rigid religious tradition is
the enemy , an attitude often seen, even today among religious extremists and legalistic believers. The
Comte encourages the villagers to resist the temptations of Vianne s sweet chocolates, telling them to
boycott immorality , and a tussle ensues between him and Vianne. Jeff Shannon, a noted film critic,
comments, The film covers familiar territory and deals in broad metaphors that even a child could

are so broad that countless applications are possible. The film begins with the introduction, Once upon

Analysis Of The Second Sex
I n today s society, the human body is placed on a pedestal for the world to critique. Both women and
men are seen as individuals that are supposed to act, dress, and look a certain way. If they falter, they
are seen as strange and sometimes called names; this is especially true for women. According to
society, man is woman s better half, and many philosophers have shown interest in this correlation.
Beauvoir, in her book The Second Sex, she talks about how women are the other and are seen as being
less than men are. Also, Young explains in her paper, Throwing Like a Girl, how men and women
approach certain obstacles differently. Along with Young s, paper a company called Always made a
promo #LikeAGirl and put into practice what Young states in her paper. Though these philosophers
and company have tried to push for woman equality, other companies, such as Hardies, have stopped
their efforts. So why do we see women as the lesser half? It is because, how we see the human body,
particularly women, is in direct correlation to where and how we are raised. Before you can describe
what the difference between men and women is, you must first understand what it means to be a
woman. As Beauvoir explains in her book The Second Sex,
Everyone agrees there are females in the human species; today, as in the past, they make up about half
of humanity; and yet we are told that femininity is in jeopardy ; we are urged, be woman, stay woman,
become woman. So not every female human being

Repetition in David Lves Plays Words, Words, Words and...
David Ives really experiments with repetition throughout all of his plays. Two examples of these plays
would be Words, Words, Words and Sure Thing Form his collection of plays called All in the Timing.
There are many different examples of repetition in each play. Ives repeats one certain thing and makes
this repetition mean many different things. In Sure Thing there is the repetition of the bell, which
represent how we tend to make snap judgments on people, and how we all strive for perfection. He
also uses the repetition of the words sure thing to represent how nothing in life can really be
considered a sure thing. In contrast in Words, Words, Words Ives uses the repetition of the Monkey s
typing to represent how sometimes luck gets us to where we need to be. Ives also uses the repetition of
Milton exhibiting typical Monkey behavior to show how we can repetition as a form of manipulation
The bell rings twenty eight times in Sure Thing. Every time Bill says something that Betty does not
find desirable the bell will ring and Bill gets another chance to woo her. Ives uses the repetition of the
bell ringing to show how we as humans make snap judgments on people. As soon as we learn one fact
about a person we base everything they say on that one fact and that it is very hard to come back from
a bad first impression. Bill s ability to gage Betty s reaction allows him to manipulate her to make
himself seem more desirable. This results in him succeeding and them leaving

Character Analysis Of Lara Croft s Characters In Tomb Raider
Lara Croft is a well known adventurer. From rock climbing in Bolivia to shooting at vicious monkeys
in a forest in India, Lara Croft has done it all. There is much more to this adventurer though.
According to Helen W. Kennedy, author of the article Lara Croft: Feminiets or Cyberbimbo? , [Lara]
is a positive role model for young girls or just the perfect combination of eye candy and thumb candy
for the boys. From her debut in 1996 to now, Lara is also seen as an iconic female figure within the
gaming community. With Lara we are able to see a strong female role who, unfortunately, is at the
same time is overly sexualized. Girls in the gaming community are given a chance to be represented
but at a cost. Lara Croft allows for there to be a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this is the case, playing Tomb Raider as a female gamer, mindset it rather hard to hold that mind set.
The developers really focused on accentuating her features that distinguishes a biological female from
a male. Lara s boobs were overly developed, her waist was too thin to actually support her body and
whenever she would jump Lara would sexually moan than create a noise that was more suited to her
actions. There should have been more to Lara than her body. As their audience changed, their ideas of
how Lara needed to be perceived, change. Lara began to be more than a body. Lara s hot pants have
become trousers, her crop top to a vest. Her breasts have shrunk to a more realistic size... states Archie
Bland. Lara was a character with a story. Over time, her looks were less important and her
characterization actually began to shine through. As the gamers were seeing the changes, many of
them were wanting to sympathize as you saw how rough of an up bringing she had. Tomb Raider s
executive producer Ron Rosenberg, states that, When people plat Lara Croft, they [do not] really want
project themselves into the character. [They are] more like I want to protect her . It is easier to
understand why these adventures were necessary to Lara Croft seen today. Having the game set up so
that Lara appearance was not the main focus, allowed for better representation for women gamers. The
idea of how women should look like, were no longer being pushed upon

Case Study Of Xerox, Accounting Fraud Caren Adkinson
Xerox, Accounting Fraud Caren Adkinson From 1997 through 2000 Xerox Corporation had defrauded
investors. Under the direction of senior management, Xerox masked its true operating performance by
using hidden accounting maneuvers. Xerox admitted that they had used improper classification of
revenue for 5 years. (www.wsws.org/en/articles/2002/07xero j01.html) In which all the maneuvers
were violations of the Securities Act and GAAP. Xerox used acceleration to recognize equipment
revenue by $3 billion and increased earnings by approximately $1.5 billion.
Xerox used these techniques to meet Wall Street earnings to be able to stay on the stock market.

Spinach Chromatography
The purpose of this experiment was to learn about the analytical method known as chromatography
which allows the separation of a mixture into its molecular components. In order to illustrate this
technique the pigments found in the leaves of spinach were separated by means of thin layer
chromatography (TLC). All chromatographic techniques have one principle in common; a liquid or
gaseous solution of sample, called the moving phase, is passed (moved) through an adsorbent, called a
stationary phase. With TLC the adsorbent of choice was one of the most common coatings, silica gel,
SiO2. This compound is polar, and therefore, is frequently used in the separation of polar substances
such as aldehydes, ketones, amines and carboxylic acids. On the other hand, a mixture of nonpolar
solvents (petroleum ether and cyclohexane) was used as the solvent. ... Show more content on

The pigments of fresh, frozen and canned spinach were extracted by grinding the mixture until
observing a powder looking appearance. The sand was used to destroy the cell walls of spinach and
free the pigments while any traces of water were being removed by the drying agent (MgSO4).
Following this, the mixtures were transferred to three labeled test tubes in which 2.0 mL of acetone
were added to each. The acetone washes the photopigments from the cells and cytoplasm. In this
manner, using a fixed speed vortex mixer, the mixture was shaken vigorously for 10 minutes. Upon
completion of mixing, the frozen and canned spinach displayed three distinctive layers, the bottom
layer containing sediments, the middle layer, a cloudy solution, and the top layer a homogeneous
green liquid. The ideal separation will have excluded the middle layer, which was a result of traces of
water present in the

Millions of researches are being carried out across the world. Hence the scope is very limited for a
person/organization to follow all the studies going on. Even if you track a study, it becomes a real
problem to analyze data that is being updated continuously on that trial. Apart from this problem, there
are many other obstacles like inaccurate results in search of a particular medical problem and even if
you do find accurate results, it becomes hard to put all information at one place retrieved from various
sources. In order to overcome the above problems, we are developing a one stop clinical trials user
friendly application that addresses all the related problems. In addition, we plan on providing a
platform for business users to analyze the stocks of the companies that are conducting the clinical
trials. Business users can benefit by making use of these analyses to make right choice before
investing on a stock. When a company starts the research on any disease, its stock prices see a change
relative to this research. If the research seems useful and helpful for the society, it grabs the attention
of the investors thereby, increases the stock prices of that firm. This analysis is carried out in this
project. 1.2 Problem and motivation There are numerous clinical trials being conducted around the
world every day. In spite of the technological advances like Internet,

An Article On The Good News
Are you feeling stuck or paralyzed in your life or business? Do you spend way too much time on the
internet, reading your email, drinking coffee or the equivalent because you just can t focus on work?
The fact is that many people are slackers and drifters, with mediocre lives...
The good news is that in the teleconference series on The Missing Link to Success, we look at the five
components that I have found are central to creating a prosperous life. Here s the formula:
PASSION + PURPOSE + POSITION + PRODUCTIVITY + PEACE OF MIND = PROSPERITY
As well as the article called The Missing Link to Success, which provides an overview of the whole
series, there is an article for each of these Five Ps , so look for them wherever you found this article! I
m going to assume you ve read the summary article plus the articles on Passion, Purpose and Position,
because each components builds on the previous ones. Once you have reset the first three Ps, you are
ready to improve your capacity to be PRODUCTIVE.
What does this mean? Why is it important to be productive? The main dictionary definition of
productive is: yielding favorable or useful results; being constructive; effective in achieving specified
results. (There are also specialized meanings in economics, medicine and linguistics, but the main
meanings will do.)
In work terms, productivity means being able to focus on your assigned (or assumed) tasks, and to
accomplish what you set out to do... whether as part of your job,

Solubility of a Salt
Introduction
Mixture is two or more materials that can be physically separated, and there are two types of mixture:
heterogeneous and homogeneous. In heterogeneous, the different components of the mixture can be
seen separately. However, homogenous is the term of mixture which all components stick together to
be uniform. Also, in a mixture we have solvent and solute. A solvent is the major part of solution
which dissolves the solute, and solute is the part of solution that is being dissolved. Therefore the
combination of solvent and solute is solution which is a type of homogenous mixture. For example, if
water is the solvent and lemon juice and sugar are the solute, lemonade is the solution. Also, every
solution has its own solubility which is the maximum amount of solute that will dissolve in a solvent
under certain condition. A solution can be saturated, unsaturated, and super ... Show more content on

Acetone cleaned AD BPs lost approximately 26, 48, and 32 % of their weight, whereas methanol cleaned AD BPs decreased their weight by around 29, 40, and 34 % at 300 ˚C for 90 min, 350 ˚C for 60 min, and 300 ˚C for 120 min, respectively. HiPco BPs lost about 22, 5, and 1 % at 350 ˚C for 30 min, 300 ˚C for 30 min, and 250 ˚C for 30 min, respectively. However, when we recalculated the weight change from the theoretical weight of AD BPs considering the surfactant effect, + 5, 25, and 2 % weight of acetone cleaned AD BP were changed after HT at the first (300 ˚C 90 min), second (350 ˚C 60 min), and third (300 ˚C 120 min) conditions while there were + 5, 13, and 0 % changes in weight for methanol cleaned AD BPs. I was born in the 90 s, where most of the children didn t have a cellphone, instead they had bicycles, dirt and not stress at all. There were good times back then. Today we have smart phones, laptops, tablets, and of course we have Netflix, a global provider of streaming movies and TV series. I have to mention that there is one TV show in particular that has captivated my eyes, its name; The Walking Dead . Maybe the title of this American horror drama television series sounds a little mysterious and scary, first of all, because the serious shows a world overrun by zombies, but besides that, I have learned a lot from this TV show. One of the first things that I want to mention is that I like this TV show not because it has a lot of suspense and special effects, but for the way it can easily be related to this world. The Walking Dead is about a sheriff who awakens from a long comma to confront a new world full of zombies that he never could imagine he would live. He reunites with his family and becomes the leader of a group he forms with other survivors. Together they struggle to survive in and adapt to a world filled with zombies and some humans who are even more dangerous than the zombies themselves, but, why I relate this series with our world? She has discovered that biologists and sociologists and the society persist to view the behavior of animal as human beings behavior. We elucidate such interpretations for our own egoisms, and that results in us being unaware of what s actually happening with the animals themselves. Zuk highlights that there are risks when we use our analyses of science to approve our own disputes and political philosophies. As an evolutionary biologist and feminist, Zuk does not consider eliminating biological elucidations of behavior, but rather the preferences and stereotypes that impact them. She concedes that there are variances among males and females, but we should not be connecting values to such variances. Zuk suggests that a feminist viewpoint can propose a different perspective to biology, one that aids eradicating the gender preferences that color our insights. In this book, Zuk exhibits a collection of stories about animal behavior from a varied group of species from bonobos to beetles. She comprises analyses of these behaviors from scientists, ecofeminists, social scientists, and the mass media, showing how stereotypes and mythologies might fog our interpretations. In addition, Zuk addresses the questions behind certain behaviors and characters concerning their connection to evolution or social habituation. Zuk achieves this with an amusing articulation that keeps readers amused in almost all chapters. She succeeds to create laughter while teaching biological science, revealing double standards, and addressing humanizing stereotypes without damaging the significance of these matters. Being colonized by the United Kingdom has affected their history forever, and has made it extremely difficult to be in the same state as the rest of the world but also allowed both countries to be close with each other as they shared the same experiences. In this paper, I will investigate the benefits of the East African Community over time specifically with Kenya s and Uganda s trade with coffee. 1.1. The Romantic Hero in Pechorin, Onegin, and the Demon Through examining the works of Lermontov, A Hero of Our Time, and The Demon, as well as Pushkin s Eugene Onegin, we can see the similarities between Pechorin, the Demon, and Onegin and how each character embodies the qualities of the romantic hero. A romantic hero is a very contradicting character. For example, in the History of Russian Literature by Charles A. Moser, he describes the romantic hero as having the anguish of emptiness; the trembling anxieties of a shallow self love as well as genuine power and courage; noble aspirations along with ignorance and poor upbringing (137). Pechorin, being the tactless character he is, treats women as an incentive for endless conquests and does not consider them worthy of any particular respect. He considers women, such as Princess Mary, to be little more than a romantic game and they have no meaning to him. This is shown in his comment on Princess Mary: I often wonder why I m trying so hard to win the love of a girl I have no desire to seduce and whom I d never marry (Lermontov, 126). This quote is a perfect example of how Pechorin can be extremely self serving and disregard the feelings of others. It also exemplifies his inability to return to the strong feelings of love. Toward the end of the novel we explore Pechorin s final adventures that lead to his downfall and isolation from society, resulting in his death. It is in his final adventures that we see Pechorin take a turn for the worse as he says, And perhaps tomorrow I ll die...so why bother to live (Lermontov 157). In this passage it becomes clear as day that Pechorin has fallen into a deep depression. The constant change in personality and character is the exact reason that explains how Pechorin is a perfect example of the literary romantic hero. In order to illustrate this technique the pigments found in the leaves of spinach were separated by means of thin layer chromatography (TLC). All chromatographic techniques have one principle in common; a liquid or gaseous solution of sample, called the moving phase, is passed (moved) through an adsorbent, called a stationary phase. With TLC the adsorbent of choice was one of the most common coatings, silica gel, SiO2. This compound is polar, and therefore, is frequently used in the separation of polar substances such as aldehydes, ketones, amines and carboxylic acids. On the other hand, a mixture of nonpolar solvents (petroleum ether and cyclohexane) was used as the solvent. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pigments of fresh, frozen and canned spinach were extracted by grinding the mixture until observing a powder looking appearance. The sand was used to destroy the cell walls of spinach and free the pigments while any traces of water were being removed by the drying agent (MgSO4). Following this, the mixtures were transferred to three labeled test tubes in which 2.0 mL of acetone were added to each. The acetone washes the photopigments from the cells and cytoplasm. In this manner, using a fixed speed vortex mixer, the mixture was shaken vigorously for 10 minutes. Upon completion of mixing, the frozen and canned spinach displayed three distinctive layers, the bottom layer containing sediments, the middle layer, a cloudy solution, and the top layer a homogeneous green liquid. The ideal separation will have excluded the middle layer, which was a result of traces of water present in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Millions of researches are being carried out across the world. Hence the scope is very limited for a person/organization to follow all the studies going on. Even if you track a study, it becomes a real problem to analyze data that is being updated continuously on that trial. Apart from this problem, there are many other obstacles like inaccurate results in search of a particular medical problem and even if you do find accurate results, it becomes hard to put all information at one place retrieved from various sources. In order to overcome the above problems, we are developing a one stop clinical trials user friendly application that addresses all the related problems. In addition, we plan on providing a platform for business users to analyze the stocks of the companies that are conducting the clinical trials. Business users can benefit by making use of these analyses to make right choice before investing on a stock. When a company starts the research on any disease, its stock prices see a change relative to this research. If the research seems useful and helpful for the society, it grabs the attention of the investors thereby, increases the stock prices of that firm. This analysis is carried out in this project. 1.2 Problem and motivation There are numerous clinical trials being conducted around the world every day. In spite of the technological advances like Internet, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fact is that many people are slackers and drifters, with mediocre lives... The good news is that in the teleconference series on The Missing Link to Success, we look at the five components that I have found are central to creating a prosperous life. Here s the formula: PASSION + PURPOSE + POSITION + PRODUCTIVITY + PEACE OF MIND = PROSPERITY As well as the article called The Missing Link to Success, which provides an overview of the whole series, there is an article for each of these Five Ps , so look for them wherever you found this article! I m going to assume you ve read the summary article plus the articles on Passion, Purpose and Position, because each components builds on the previous ones. Once you have reset the first three Ps, you are ready to improve your capacity to be PRODUCTIVE. What does this mean? Why is it important to be productive? The main dictionary definition of productive is: yielding favorable or useful results; being constructive; effective in achieving specified results. • 47. Solubility Of A Salt Lab Report Sozi Hassan Section 3 November 7, 2016 Solubility of a Salt Introduction Mixture is two or more materials that can be physically separated, and there are two types of mixture: heterogeneous and homogeneous. In heterogeneous, the different components of the mixture can be seen separately. However, homogenous is the term of mixture which all components stick together to be uniform. Also, in a mixture we have solvent and solute. A solvent is the major part of solution which dissolves the solute, and solute is the part of solution that is being dissolved. Therefore the combination of solvent and solute is solution which is a type of homogenous mixture. For example, if water is the solvent and lemon juice and sugar are the solute, lemonade is the solution. Also, every solution has its own solubility which is the maximum amount of solute that will dissolve in a solvent under certain condition. A solution can be saturated, unsaturated, and super ... We bought a beaker and filled it with tab water then we put it on the hot plate to boil. 2. We put 5 ml of distill water in four tubes. 3. We bought four tubes and full it with four different amounts of KNO3. The amounts were: (2,4,6,and8 )gram of KNO3. So, we measured the amount of KNO3 by using balance, and we put the KNO3 to each tube. 4. We put the tubes into the beaker which was boiling, and we left then until the KNO3 dissolved in the water. 5. After the dissolve of KNO3, we took of the tubes and left them until they cool. When the tubes cooled, we measured their temperatures. Data and results Saturation Temperature (ͦ C) Convert to g/100ml Mass Kno3
