The basic block diagram of the RFID based security system is as follows:
In this system radio frequency identification plays the major role in the security purpose all other
hardware components plays the secondary roles. I used the RFID tags that s provides unique
identification number whenever it read the card, then it send this information to the microcontroller
and find out whether card is genuine or fake. If the card matches with the original information, I
allow the user to enter the room else the security alarm will be on.
Radio Frequency Identification
The radio frequency identification is the system, which uses the radio wave to read the information
the tag. The system consist of three main components RFID tag or transponder, which identify the
data carrier in RFID, RFID tag reader or transceiver, which read data from and write to transponder
and data processing subsystem, which use the data obtained from the transceiver.
The transmitters and responders have electronic microchip that stores data and coupling elements
like coiled antenna, used to communicate via radio frequency waves. Transponders might be active
or passive. Active transponders have an on tag

Personal Narrative Losing Weight Essay
Personal Narrative Losing Weight
I know I should lose weight. It requires a lot of perseverance that I one time had and need to find
again. Many of the reasons I should lose weight are very clear to me. I have read many articles
and have heard what my doctor has told me. I lost over forty pounds about three years ago,
unfortunately, I gained it back two fold when I was pregnant with my daughter. I still have not
been able to get rid of this weight since she was born. Sometimes it causes me to get tired just
from going to the grocery store. I also found out in September of last year that I have hypertension
(high blood pressure) which effected my vision drastically by the following November. Other
problems are social such as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Currently I must take a pill every day in order to keep my hypertension under control. Since I am
not fond of taking medication, I would not miss taking it if losing weight would get rid of my
hypertension all together. If I forget to take my pill first thing in the morning, I begin to get
headaches and start feeling a little edgy by noon. My doctor is in the opinion that my weight is
the main cause of my high blood pressure. I also began to have problems with my eyesight
almost immediately after I learned I had hypertension. My vision began to get blurry and I felt
pressure behind my eyes that scared me greatly. I had to get a much stronger prescription for my
contact lenses and now have to return to my eye doctor to have my eyes tested every six
months. My optometrist tells me that it is possible to reverse the effects the hypertension has
had on my eyes. These health issues have become serious problems for me and if I lost weight,
there is a strong possibility of becoming free of these problems. Losing weight would also reduce
the risk of other health problems. My doctor has explained several of these risks to me. I do not
remember all of them, but the ones that stick out in my mind the most are very common among the
world today. He mentioned several forms of cancer to me. Breast cancer and ovarian cancer were
among the ones that woman have a higher risk of being diagnosed with due to

Inequality in British Schools
Is there a problem of Inequality in British schools?
The educational system is one of the most influential institutions in society as it provides young
people with a vast amount of knowledge, attitudes and skills. These are acquired formally through
set lessons or informally through the hidden curriculum which provides the unofficial and
unplanned consequences of school experience. Social Inequality is one of the major preoccupations
of sociology. The relationship between inequality and education has been studied for many years.
Although it seems obvious that educational success is simply down to an individual s capabilities
and motivation, sociological research shows that the inequalities in social class, gender and race and
ethnicity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand if the teacher labels a pupil as un co operative or from a poor background, this
can cause low self esteem and the pupil will be likely to fail to achieve much success.
The Neo Marxist s perspective on class stratification in Britain claims that schools create a false
class consciousness so it seems that they promote equal opportunities for all, but they really
reproduce a capitalist division of labour, preparing young people for class determined careers in the
labour market.
Willis (1977) accepts the Marxist s view on education being closely linked to the needs of the
capitalist s system; however he does not agree with the idea of there being a direct link between
education and the economy. (Macionis. J, Plummer.K, 2008)
His study found that poorer children often grow up in environments where people see little hope of
upward social mobility and rebel against the system rather than trying to conform with in. In such
an environment adults often discourage rather than encourage success at school. (Macionis. J,
Plummer.K, 2008)
Social class is not the only inequality in Britain s schooling. Sociologists have also found a link
between gender and academic success. Until the late 1980 s there was high concern about the
underachievement of girls. Societies had been structured to consider schooling more important for
males than for females. Although the gap in gender

Spanking In Children
Everyday parents are faced with the challenges of disciplining their children. We all wish there was
an instruction booklet that we could magical pull out and get them back on the right path, but no
such thing exists. Often times, your child pushes you to the edge of your personal limitations. At
this moment it is often we correct our child s behavior by spanking. Spanking is considered a form
of discipline that is acceptable by most and an unacceptable to a smaller crowd. Spanking can
lead to psychological problems in early adolescent, which long term can lead to emotional and
anger retention. Spanking is like smoking cigarettes. Having one or two cigarettes in a lifetime

Many of these parents who support spanking feel it is their right to do so. This is justified by the
simple fact as when they were a child they were spanked and said I turned out okay . This is
probably true for most of them, but 2017 is a different world from when they were children.
Supporting parents often say they know when and where to draw the line. At least 1,200 children
are killed every year at the hands of their parents in the name of physical punishment. (Guidance of
Effective Discipline, online). As I stated early, there is no written guideline to follow, so how do
we know when enough is enough? There is a huge grey area that is undefined and the true answer
is they don t. Parents sometimes forget that it is there duty to teach and educate to help our children
reach their full potential. Parents need to stop justifying their rights to discipline as a parent and
focus on changing the culture by using alternative methods and

The Education Of The United States
In the two hundred forty one years since the founding of the United States, few have seriously
argued the importance of education to society. Although education was left out of the United States
Constitution in the interest of states rights, Thomas Jefferson was not alone in believing that the
most important bill in our whole code is that for the diffusion of knowledge among the people...
[which is necessary] for the preservation of freedom and happiness. (251). Despite a consensus on
the necessity of education, its actualization has a storied past, one riddled with intense ideological
debates, landmark court cases, petty politics, and, at times, military intervention (e.g. during
desegregation). While lawmakers and judges have addressed... Show more content on

Next, I will outline key elements of Amy Gutmann s Democratic State of Education, including
nonrepressionism and freedom in choosing among competing conceptions of good life and good
society. Once this framework is in place, I will proceed to explore the perceived incompatibility of
Common Core with the principles of Gutmann s Democratic State. Ultimately, I will conclude that
the standards are indeed compatible with a Democratic State of Education given the latitude that
states have in tailoring the standards and given the fact that Common Core does not exclusively
determine curriculum.
The Common Core State Standards are the contrivance of a commission of governors and
education leaders from forty eight states sponsored by the National Governors Association and the
Council of Chief State School Officers. The overarching goals of the commission in drafting the
standards were to ensure that all students have the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in
college, career, and life... regardless of where they live, and to promote equity by ensuring all
students are well prepared to collaborate and compete with their peers in the United States and
abroad. In essence, the standards were created to correct for geographical disparities in educational
quality which had made for unequal opportunities available to students after graduation. Two
separate sections of Common Core Standards, English Language Arts Literacy in History/Social

Who Leaves A Sapphire Lying On The Ground Essay
Who leaves a sapphire just lying on the ground?
I bent over to pick up the twinkling gem. It was large, easily the size of a quarter, so it must be
expensive. I was no gemologist, but I did know that the larger the gem, the more pricey it was. I
rolled it around in my fingers, letting the light from the street lamps catch in all of its facets.
Beautiful. I breathe. The dark blue of the sapphire almost seemed velvety, like the night sky. Too
bad there weren t any specs of silver in the gem. Then it would really resemble the night sky.
I sigh, a deep ache forming in my chest. The memory of a country nightside still burned fresh in
my mind, as it wasn t long ago that I could marvel at the beauty of the night sky where I could
actually see it. Those days are gone now, at least for the time being.
I ll return it to the police tomorrow. Pocketing the jewel, I finished my walk back home.
The city where I now live is nice, if you like air pollution and noise keeping you up all night, that
is. Everyone is always saying that I ll get used to it everyone else already has but I haven t. Not yet.
I stared up at the dark sky. It was suffocating, like a heavy blanket with no promise of being lifted.
Nothing like my old home where the full moon was so bright, I could see almost as well as I can at
sunset. There were always places to explore in the woods. Bridges to cross and discovering new
surprises from nature used to be my life. Now, it s just pale buildings, pale

Beyond Good And Evil By Joshua Lohin
Art is a form of communication. Art is a form of language. The language of art can be elaborated
in a multitude of ways, as well. These methods include the content, process, or themes of the
artwork. The pieces Who Tells the Truth? and Beyond Good and Evil by Joshua Lohin, which I
found in the University Gallery, Fulton Hall 109, are prime examples of art being conveyed as a
language through their content.
Firstly, the artwork Who Tells the Truth? by Joshua Lohin, is a digital print, depicting a woman
standing with what appears to be an opaque veil over her head. The female figure s body is turned
slightly away from the viewer, while her head is facing the viewer. The figure stands in an
ostensibly grainy photograph with the words ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This piece illustrates two faces, one smiling and the other frowning, accompanied by words
placed around the print in a seemingly random order. The two faces are placed in the center of
the print, while the words, Beyond, Good, and, and Evil, are positioned around the edges of the
print. Beyond is printed horizontally, and Good is printed vertically with the base of the word
being faced toward the right end of the print. And is printed on the bottom left corner of the print,
with the left end of the print as the base, and Evil is printed in the same manner as Beyond in the
bottom right side of the print. Located around the faces in the center are smaller printed words
being, originality, danger, imagination, and self assertion. I believe that perhaps the content in this
print could be insinuating human demeanors as well. The smiling and frowning faces in the center
are associated with the human expressions of smiling and frowning. Additionally, the words that
are positioned around the faces describe human qualities. This could also be illustrated by the
saying, Smiling faces tell lies. The quote tells that individuals can obscure their true emotions and
feelings with their facial expressions. This piece appears to be much more simple than the previous
one, however many similarities and differences between the two can be

Anyone Who Is Watching News Such As The Euronews Channel,
Anyone who is watching news such as the Euronews channel, has seen many times by now cases
of serious crimes such as murders, rapes, kidnappings and sexual assaults. These crimes are
heinous, violent and monstrous. The people who committed these crimes broke the law and they
have to face the consequences of their actions. Due to such crimes are significant the government
will take them to the court. Under multiple trials the judge will decide if they are guilty or not and
if they are guilty they will spend some years of their lives in prisonor even their whole life. All the
people who are watching these trials are completely consistent that everyone who is guilty, should

Their behaviour towards the individuals was inhumane as they were making them think constantly
about their faults and to do hard and exhausting activities. Such as tread wheel or picking oakum.
In these activities they were isolating strands of ropes. Anyone who had cash, could purchase better
food, more guests or even keep pets, however any individual who had no cash he had none of them.
However, it seems that the physical and mental labour in Victorian Prisons never stop, they
found new ways to punish the offenders. As Beaken (2013) states in his recent article, the
amount and the kind of food that the individuals were eating it was one of their plenty
punishments. He discovered that the detainees were eating one pound of bread per day and for
dinner they were eating two pounds of potatoes or a half a pound of boiled rice with treacle. It
was impossible to find someone who was eating meat as they did not give this kind of food. He
claims that this diet led to sickness and death. After they saw that many individuals died, they start
to providing meat twice a week. They were having different portions of each one of the persons
according to the crime that they committed. For instance, individuals who were in solitary
confinement for prison offences they were eating just a single pound of bread every day. Then
again, individuals who not sentenced to hard labour and their time of imprisonment did not exist
the fourteen days, they were eating 10

Analysis Of The Sound Of Music
At a period of time in the United States when the Vietnam War was rapidly escalating and gaining
opposition among the younger generation, the film The Sound of Music was released. Directed
by Robert Wise and released in 1965, The Sound of Music features musical numbers accompanied
by the movement and dancing of the von Trapp family. The setting of the film is Salzburg, Austria
in 1938 immediately following the start of German occupation due to the Anschluss. Ultimately,
the reprise of So Long, Farewell in The Sound of Music subverts governmental authority over war
by portraying a movement shift from being restricted and uniform to running away with hope of
freedom. The reprise of So Long, Farewell features Maria von Trapp, Captain... Show more content

As this pattern progresses, the children escaping the stage show more and more freedom of
movement. The last set of two sibling is two of the oldest daughters who, right before their exit,
make a small leap. This is the first time that enough excitement is shown that any of the family
members actually leave the stage surface. At this point in the number, only the two adults and the
youngest child are left on stage. The youngest von Trapp is ushered off stage to join the others
before Maria and Captain calmly walk off stage, embracing each other.
The most obvious subversion of war authority belongs to the setting of the movie 1938 in Salzburg,
Austria, the year in which Germanic Nazi power took over Austria. In March of 1938, Austria was
the first victim of Hitler s policy of aggression. The German domination of that country (the so
called Anschluss) heralded the beginning of a diplomatic demarche (Clute VII). Specifics as to how
this happened include a conspired alliance between Austrian Nazis and German Nazis who
infiltrated their power into Austrian government. The timeline of events began when Austrian
Chancellor Kurt von Schuschnigg met with Adolf Hitler after learning of the conspiracy.
Schuschnigg s intention from this meeting was to reassert dominance and independence, but
instead was pressured into electing Austrian Nazis to the cabinet. On March

Chemistry Involved in Electric Vehicles
What is the chemistry involved in electric vehicles?
Electrical cars have been around since the 1800s.The first practical electric car was designed by
Thomas Parker in London. The vehicles popularity continued into the 20th century, until the
technology of combustible engines advanced and the mass production of gas vehicles. In 2008 the
electric car appeared once again because the advances in the battery and power technology, upward
prices of oil and emissions. The electrical car originally used a lead acid based battery, today
however the lithium ion rechargeable battery is used. The battery of the electric car stores
chemical energy and converts the energy to electricity. The chemistry of the electric car is
found mainly in the battery. In the battery there is a chemical reaction in cells which then
produces a voltage. These batteries usually have 200 to 400 small cells. The cells are combined
to create a powerful battery. The risk is that if one cell overcharge it causes a thermal reaction.
The development electronic controls for this risk are in process but are expensive. Khalil Amine
and Zonghai Chen of the Argonne National Laboratory discovered a molecule base of boron and
fluorine added to each cell controls the charging of the battery cells. The molecule is said to be
less costly and more reliable than the electric control. (MANDEL, 2009) In the 1800s the lead acid
based battery was invented and used in electrical cars. The technologies of the lead acid battery

China s Economic Growth Mechanism
The article of Yasheng HuangпјЊnamed how did China take offпјЊdiscussing on economic growth
mechanism, mainly come to China s economic reform had the process of financial liberalization.
Furthermore, he pointed out that political reform, financial liberalization and the development of
township enterprises are the key focus on China s development.
Huang argues that the results of China s economic development are mainly due to internal reforms
which are the reforms of China s rural industry. On the contrary, external reforms which made the
contribution in the political sense, such as the establishment of special economic zones and foreign
direct investment(FDI) , is not a general function as township and village enterprises(TVEs) did in
China s economic development.
Huang s paper analyzed the phenomena and causes of the take off in China s economy through four
aspects.
The first part is the beginning of China s economic reform from rural areas, the initial conditions of
China s rural areas are more likely to produce both private entrepreneurship and market economy
than the urban industrialization. Rural reforms also concerned about macroeconomic reform,
especially for the public confidence in the credibility and stability of the government. This reform
is a reform and even a revolution, not what they characterized as modest by some scholars. (Huang)
The second part is to clarify the definition of township and village enterprises, which include the
enterprises sponsored by

Utilitarian s Vs. Deontologists
Utilitarian s vs Deontologists
On the topic of the conception of right action, deontologists and utilitarian s had opposing views on
what makes an action just. I argue that Bentham s view of determining right action, that an action is
right if it has the tendency to maximize pleasure, is the optimal one because we are not able to
determine the motivations of others with absolute certainty.
Deontologists believed that good actions are bad without good will, and that motivation only
mattered in determining a right action, not the outcome. Oppositely, utilitarian s believed that only
the outcome mattered in determining right action, not the motivations.
Immanuel Kant, a deontologist, determined good will as the concept of a will good in ... Show more

Kant gives an example for why lying is not a right action. He states that there is a man who
needs money even though he knows he will not be able to pay it back, his maxim is I will
borrow money and promise to pay it back, though I know that this will never be done (Kant
534). Kant explains that this maxim would not work as a universal law because every banker
would not believe someone who says they are going to pay money back, therefore would never
give out any loads. He goes on to explain how people should treat each other. He argues that it is
not acceptable to treat someone as a merely as a means but at the same time as an ends (Kant
536). He says that to treat someone as a merely a means is to treat them merely as a machine in
ones plan and involving them without their ability to consent. He argued that people needed to be
treated as an ends meaning that people needed to be able to enter agreements of their own free will
and without manipulation (Kant 537). Kant believed that treating people merely as a means was
without good will and therefore could never produce a right action.
On the other hand, Jeremy Bentham, a utilitarian, argued that the right action was the one that
tendency it has to augment the happiness of the community is greater than any it has to diminish it
(Bentham 481). Bentham believed that the determination of a right action was the actions ability to
generate pleasure to the greatest amount of people and for the longest

The Role Of Gentrification In Denver
Gentrification in Denver The Denver metro area is flourishing in construction, re construction,
jobs, and growing population, but is it viewed to be a positive aspect of the growing community, or
negative? Gentrification is a weighted topic of discussion for Denver and will continue to be on the
rise as our communityprogresses to grow. Gentrification as defined from dictionary.com, is the
buying and renovation of houses and stores in deteriorated urban neighborhoods by upper or
middle income families or individuals, thus improving property values, but often displacing low
income families and small businesses. While some people view gentrification as a beautiful and

Bobby Lefebre says, Watching everything I love about my neighborhood slowly walk into a
mere memory is disheartening. It seems like every day there is a new institution, business, or
mural being cleared away to make room for the new. This quote not only helps you understand
just how upsetting gentrification is to people who were rooted in these areas, but also how the
original atmosphere is no longer apart of the neighborhood. These Chicanos, are not saying that
people of other races or backgrounds cannot live in these neighborhoods as well, they just want
it to be the same tight knit group of people who are able to help each other out and provide
information to people of the same background. The idea of a tight knit community plays an
important role in preservation and is imperative to these individual s survival. Bobby Lefebre
also writes, Let s honor our past by ensuring Northside communities of all backgrounds are not
erased. Let s work together to preserve our diverse traditions and cultural artifacts; even if
preservation means creating things anew. Even though gentrification is happening in multiple
neighborhoods, there is still ideas for how to keep the original feel and the historical value that
people who have lived in the area for a long time would benefit from and help give peace of mind,
with the changes that are happening in their neighborhood. The ongoing stories of these people can
remain in the neighborhood and will grow with them as well as the growing communities. Jolie

how truly upsetting gentrification is to people and the history of the area. She says, This is a

The Problem Of Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia is a country mainly known for the origin of Islam and has two holiest places in the
country. Saudi Arabia is an oil producing country with huge reserve fund and its currency is doing
very good on the financial front. Till early nineties country was in the very good state of the
financial as well as population distribution. Most of the Saudis were working and having very low
unemployment situation. With the increase in the population and educated youth demand for work
has increased and those who could not get jobs turned their faces towards other activities like an
illegal business and helping or involving them in terrorist activities. To meet this growing problem
king Suleman tried to analyze the problem and declared some policies about the illegal immigrants
or people overstaying in the country even after their immigrationtime has expired. The rule has
been so critical and changed the definition of the immigration that people staying in the country
after the expiry of their visa will be treated as an illegal immigrant. The police have taken very
strong action against the illegal immigrants. This all is done to accommodate their own people in
certain jobs so that they can be employed and the illegal activities can be curtailed down. The aim
of the policy is to satisfy the local people that the government is worried about their problem and
taking action in the right direction. But the analyst says that the certain work which can be

The current legislation in the UK governing registered trade marks is contained in the TMA

trademarks which are being governed by Article 5 of the TMD. According to Article 5(1), there
will be an infringement of trademarks if third party uses similar or identical signs to the trade mark
in the course of trade. As an alternative way to protect trademark infringements, the UK has
incorporated another legislation through the directive, which is s10(3) of TMA 1994 with the
effect of an anti dilution provision. As stated under Article 5(2) : Any Member State may also

Compare And Contrast David And Bathesheba
Several things have not changed over ancient times very girl craves to be pursued, every man
struggles with lust, and the Lord can use ordinary humans to do extraordinary things. These are
world wide things and have been around since the beginning of time. We as girls desire to be
irreplaceable and want to be wanted. Even Christian culture has played into this. Boaz pursued
Ruth in a way that greatly displayed the loveof Christ. They were a lot like spaghetti and meatballs
great by themselves but a powerhouse when combined. The old testamentalso documents the
hardships in relationships in our fallen world. There are also sweet records of the works He has
done in peoples lives. And the result of immovable faith. We can learn from people s triumphs and

Juvenile Court Case Study
In the Juvenile Case #1, the client suspected of burglarizing and murdering the elderly lady should
be tried in a Juvenile Court rather Adult court which would be in the best interest of the child. To
begin with, the client has no juvenile delinquent record and had minimal behavioral issues in the
Juvenile Hall, which aids to their side since they have a clean history and this is the first record of
criminal behavior. With this in mind, it is plausible for the minor to change to become a better
civilian through rehabilitation which is made possible by the Juvenile court. The client has proved
their ability to improve themselves by earning a high school diploma and attending voluntary

The suspect was only 14 years old when placed into custody, where they are young enough to still
be considered an adolescent and don t know right from wrong. For a young client that was born
addicted to meth and abandoned at birth, they must have a poor mental and emotional state that
exists within them. Without having a biological mother or father figure in their life, they lack
guidance in identifying what is wrong and what is right and what the consequences of their actions
are due to the poor parental supervision they were exposed to while growing up. Alongside, the lack
of parental support and supervision while growing up the minor is proven to suffer from
psychological disorders such as ADHD, insomnia, and anti social tendencies which affects their
mental and emotional health. With the client having no gang ties or association, this greatly
increases the likelihood that they will rehabilitate since they carry no ties with other gang members
or criminals. Next, the minor did not originally have the intent to stab and murder the elderly lady
before entering the home. As the client retrieved a deadly kitchen knife from inside the house,
rather than bringing their own weapon shows how this was not a planned premeditated murder.
This proves that a rather spontaneous and unpredicted action was committed by the juvenile that
could have been triggered by their poor mental and emotional state. In the end, due to the minimal
degree of criminal sophistication that exists in the minor they should be initiated under the juvenile

Jp Morgan Essay
J.P. Morgan is a leading financial institution that offers clients with financial and investment
solutions in over 100 countries. It has been operational for over the last two centuries, boasting
of the most inclusive product platforms in the global market. In May 2012, the financial
institution revealed that it had suffered an economic loss of up to two billion dollars.
Institutions like the JP Morgan are regulated by several financial regulators who are tasked with
the responsibility of overseeing the essentials of trading. The main regulator of federally
chartered financial institutions with depository rights is the Office of the Controller of the

the OCC umbrella. CIO of JP Morgan was the department that was responsible for the losses

The Link Between Autism and Otolaryngology
According to the CDC, about 1 in 88 children in the United States fall into the autistic spectrum.
If your child has autism, you should pay a visit to your local Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor.
It is not uncommon for autistic children to suffer with maladies that can be diagnosed and treated

obstacles they face, and it might even help with any self injurious behavior. It can be very difficult
to pinpoint what it bothering your autistic child due to communication issues, so you want to make

As a former Marine, I emerged from the military instilled with a strict sense of discipline and a

Reality is, many veterans and service members find themselves feeling out of place and wondering
why they don t fit in with their peers or coworkers; or why family, friends and loved ones cannot or
will not try to understand them. Realistically, we must face the truth; they never had to deal with

However, many think it s beyond their control or out of their reach; when in hindsight, it starts by
doing the smallest things.
There are plenty of obstacles, challenges and problems out there ready to get right in the way of
plans, dreams and goals; there s those that will grow into bigger problems and those that will

Then there s everyday life, that throws new complications and encounters at us every day; which

Are Pork Pigs Good Or Bad
Pork chops might look good on your dinner plate, but do you really know what you are eating?
Pigs are where we get pork chops. There are many things that happen to these pigs for us to have
something as simple as pork chops. Some things are just cruel, and some are just unbelievable, but
it s true. Of course there are the benefits and the risks, but which one weighs more? This is what
you decide.
To start off with, pigs need fifty square feet to live a healthy lifestyle, but in most pig farms in the
US, pigs only receive about only twenty square feet if they are in good conditions. Most mother
pigs spend majority of their lives crammed into metal cages. After mother pigs give birth, then
they are moved into cages only big enough to nurse their young, but too small for them to turn
over. Once the piglets are about one month old, they are torn from their mothers and crammed in
a room filled with other piglets. Male piglets get their testicles cut out when they are only ten
days old. Pigs live in harsh crammed conditions. They are forced to live in their own feces and
vomit. Genetically manipulated by enzymes, pigs grow faster than normal. Pigs are fed grains and
seed oil to hire their omega six level which also causes them to also grow at dangerously high
levels. Americans eat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON OF 1666
THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON OF 1666 The Great Fire of London of 1666 that was started by
Thomas Farrinor s bakery caused the destruction of 80 percent of London and led to the creation of
insurance and firefighting companies. The fire marked a time of rebirth for the British capital since
the city had to rebuild entirely. The fire was quite an interesting event owing the fact that it caused
such an extreme amount of destruction and took the lives of only six people. Londoners remember
the seventeenth century as a time of desolation, but the events that occurred have impacted the
world today. With the creation of insurance and firefighting, not only are people protected, but their
property also. As a rule, builders in seventeenth century... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Farrinor immediately ran upstairs and when he reached the top, he saw flames, but the flames
were not near his ovens, or even close to a pile of wood near the ovens (Shields 80 81). The
family then searched for an escape route out of the house (Alagna 4). Unable to exit downstairs
due to a blocked path, the Farrinor family fled to the roof. The family begged their maid to
follow them but she was more afraid of heights than the fire. She stayed in the house and was the
first person to die in the Great Fire. The family, however, continued across rooftops until they were
safe from the fire (Shields 81). Subsequently, the flames were halfway across London Bridge soon
after the fire was started. Two groups of buildings, separated by a clearance, sat on London
Bridge (Alagna 19). Pieces of the burning buildings fell into the river causing the water to turn
into smoke and steam (Hanson 53). The sights and sounds of the London Bridge burning and
falling in the water, created a dark perception for onlookers. The previously mentioned clearance
in the London Bridge was a successful firebreak in an earlier fire, and it was successful again in
the Great Fire. London was lucky that only one third of London Bridge burned (Alagna 19).
Furthermore, the fire continued to spread rapidly. Huge pieces of wood fell, burning and blazing,
forming bridges for the fire to spread to other buildings. Every house became fuel to the fire, so it

West Side Story The Musical Essay
West Side Story The Musical
*No Works Cited
West Side Story is one of the most influential musicals of all time. It s integration of dance and
song into the plot was very innovative, because even though it had been done before, it had never
been done this well. Jerome Robbins had thought of an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet to a
Broadway musical in 1949. He began discussions with librettist Arthur Laurents and composer
Leonard Bernstein of a musical called East Side Story, with a plot concentrating on a Catholic girl
and a Jewish boy. Other projects forced the work aside for six years, and when they returned to it,
times had changed. Their idea became West Side Story, (another early title was Gangway!) and the

The Latin American rhythms gave Bernstein a good musical base to start from, and the whole
score benefited from a jazzy Manhattan feel, which had been inherited from Gershwin, as well
as Copland s romantic Americana feel. Robbins choice of a cast was very meticulously done. He
wanted a real feeling that had never been reached before in Musical history. He wanted actors that
were not well known, and that would get his theme of reality across to the audience. During
rehearsals he actually separated the Jets and the Sharks and didn t allow them to socialize or even
talk to one another. He also didn t allow the actress playing Anybodys to eat lunch with anyone at
all. The show opened on Broadway on September 16, 1957. At first, the critics were not able to fully
appreciate the magnitude of the achievement, but one critic, Brooks Atkinson wrote that the ballets
convey the things that Laurents is inhibited from saying because the characters are so inarticulate.
This was done intentionally as a part of the realistic approach to the musical. By making the
teenagers inarticulate, they were forced to communicate at an emotional level that almost lended
itself to an impressionistic approach. One innovation of West Side Story was that there really wasn
t a dance chorus. Each dancer was assigned a specific character to play, and all of them sang,
danced, and spoke. Robbins knew that by

Archaic Word Choice And Run-On Sentences

Daniel J Boorstin once said, By reading we discover our world, or history and ourselves. Although

These factors make grasping the authors point very difficult, and problematic to the average

An example of the run on sentences is, Being thus passed the vast ocean, and a sea of troubles

friends to welcome them, nor inns to entertain or refresh their weather beaten bodies, no houses
or much less towns to repair to, to seek for succor, (60). This line is a run on sentence because the
entire sentence is a paragraph long which could easily confuse the reader. Another example, And

and violent, and subject to cruel and fierce storms, dangerous to travel to known places much more

Exploring Different Types of Video Games Essay
Video games in today s society have become very popular. Every new game that comes out to be

of genres of games that people play but because of big hit titles and the new popular game systems
like the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, people become more interested in a gamethat is well known
than a game they have never even heard of before. Every game has its own storyline and own way
of how it unfolds and where the game ends according to game play. Some of the biggest reasons
people sway to certain genres of games is because of the game titles released under them and the
demand of people who want a good game under that category. The top three most... Show more

Unlike action/adventure games, people don t have to run to a particular spot in the game to get that
special item they wanted, instead, they just simply unlock it when he or she has accomplished the
necessary requirements to get the item.
Action/Adventure categories of games are very unique. These types of games generally feature
long term obstacles that must be overcome using a tool or object that is acquired at the beginning
of the game. These types of games are generally a more item gathering, simple puzzle solving, and
combat game. Games such as Assassins Creed and Ratchet and Clank are perfect examples of
this category of games. Assassins Creed is a bit more puzzle solving and more stealth like than
Ratchet and Clank whereas Ratchet and Clank is more of an action pack filled game with more
item gathering and small obstacles along the way encountering combat in every turn that is made.
Another famous action/adventure game would be Super Mario. The perfect storyline of saving a
princess and while looking for her one would encounter different but strong enemies in each level
he or she would go in; along the way he or she would also benefit from picking up certain items
and having to complete certain obstacles to obtain that item that does later on become very handy
when used it at the right time. Role playing games play similar to action/adventure games but has a
much more difficult way of how the game is completed.

Human Condition
One of the reasons the movement is so difficult to define is because many of these thinkers have
differing views on what the human condition is, which is at the center of the study of
existentialism. Something that is found to be common between many existentialist, though, is their
consistent and utter rejection to any and all systems, theories and organizational constructs that
attempt to answer the question of the human condition, and give value to our existence in a
comprehensive approach whether they are based in religion, science or philosophy.
One of the most historically outstanding systems which claims to explain some core existential
questions about the human condition is religion. Religion was something that filled the void of the
existential question for as long as humanity has existed, and alleviate the concern of creating
meaning and purpose. Existentialist thinkers have adopted the belief that following organized ...

individual living on this earth and experiencing all the fears, anxieties, hopes and disappointments
that are a part of the human condition. For example, many of the mass organized religions often
provide answers to many of the vexing questions of life from the perspective of an all knowing and
all powerful God, whose word is thought to be communicated to us through prophets. However,
existentialists stress that what we most need is not a divine perspective of the human condition, but

The Impact Of Foreign Policy On International Trade Essay
Ever since the first involvement of government in international trade, many people have posed their
opinion about what the role of government should be in it. Different factors are involved when it
comes to deciding what this should be. It impacts a lot of people, so in order to do that, trade
policy must be properly defined, identify what the roles of government currently are, and their
involvement in it, and then analyse what should be their role. Trade policy is how a country carries
out trade with other countries (Commercial Policy, n.d). Even though a lot of people support
government intervention in international trade, countries would benefit a lot more if the government
removes protectionism and promotes free tradeinstead.
Trade policy is defined as a collection of rules and regulations that are made by public officials
which relate to trade (Trade Policy, 2010). An organisation that makes the rules of trading
amongst its member nations is the World Trade Organisation (WTO). They are the ones who
handles trade issues, supervises trade policies, gives technical assistance to developing countries
and participates with other international trade organisations (World Trade Organisation, n.d). New
Zealand is an example of a country that works with the WTO. Due to this, it enables them to have
a free trade policy. Trading is essential to New Zealand s economy, as they can only afford the
services and goods that they import by selling exports to other countries. Free trade

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The English...
English Language Learners There are many English Language Learners who may be at a higher
disadvantage because they are learning English as a second language. Being introduced to any
language is a challenging task for all small children; consequently, students who cannot
communicate with any school staff members are often left behind. Due to the variety of languages
in a school setting it would be difficult to have a dual immersion program set in place. However, in
Kern County, there are many small towns whose population is primarily Spanish speaking. These
town s students are faced with many difficulties as they try to adjust and transition to English
because a lot of their parents do not speak English themselves. Schools with a high population of
Spanish speaking students should offer a dual immersion program because it will provide their
students the necessary tools to become proficient English languagelearners.
Difficulties
Many times, school faculty may feel that incorporating a dual immersion program may be
confusing for students. They feel that their primary goal should be to learn English and there
should be no distractions. In the past, due to these conflicting ideas, Most schools did away their

Conquest of the Aztecs
The Aztecs were thriving prior to the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors in 1519. Their
economy was booming and the population of their capital city, Tenochtitlan, was rising steadily.
With the population of the Aztec empire peaking to nearly five million, how did one of the world

conquest? The following reasons attributed and caused the demise of what was one of the most
dominant Mesoamerican colonies.
When the Spanish arrived in Mesoamerica, their technology was far superior to that of the native
people. Their guns, cannons and even horses where alien to both the Aztecs and their neighbouring

Analysis Of I Too By Langston Hughes
From freedom of speech, to freedom of religion, here in America, issues are also freed to hidden
behind the phrase freedom. The statement of freedom like free flowing words on the page of
poem, contains various definitions like different possible interpretations of a poem. While at the
time for Langston Hughes, his definition of freedom was chained by the pigment of his skin. As he
acknowledges his conflict with freedom while struggling against racism, Langston Hues in his
poem I Too, expresses how the issue of racism has been understated in America through the usage of
euphony, free verse and enjambment, depicting that the existence of freedom that was promised by
America is incomplete.
Through the usage of euphony, Hughes softly calls out the matter of racism, an issue is barely
touched on in America today. At the time I Too was written in 1925, this soft call depicts the fear
and suppression the darker brother (Hughes) of America faced. While the euphony created by the
patterns of the lines But I laugh/ And eat well,/ And grow strong (Hughes) portrays their nonviolent
protest against this untouched oppressive force of racism, today, the euphony behind the positive
dictions such as company (Hughes) in this poem presents the issue as if it is simply the difference
between ea[ting] in the kitchen or eating at the table. The usage of euphony depicts that the issue of
racism is easier said than done, for that the issue was never solved but only modernized. Hence, this
parallel emphasizes how understated the issue of racism is in America, while at the same time
contradicting the reality of the issue
In addition, because euphony is used throughout the poem, Hughes stresses that between the
difference of color, the same patriotic language is spoken, for that he too, sing America (Hughes) in
the same National Anthem in the same euphonious tone. However, the participation of this singing
is still has not euphoniously provide him a seat at the American table. By hiding him in the kitchen,
America hides racism in the kitchen, to create the look of a euphonious table as mocked by the
way this poem hides it behind its euphonious words.
To further echo the understated issue of racism, Hughes uses

Socially Constructed Stereotypes
Socially constructed stereotypes play a role in the way that female professionals are perceived
in the workplace (Wolfson 44). If there were firm wide regulations for professional attire that
were applicable to both women and men, then it would be appropriate. Female lawyers have a
long standing effort of pushing boundaries of what is considered appropriate for the courtroom
(Farmer 5). A private firm can make the determination to enforce a dress code, but it cannot be
discriminatory towards protected classes such as sex or religion, therefore, it is not appropriate for
firms to restrict attire monitoring to femaleattorneys (Title VII, EEOC).
The mixed motive framework of dress codes is difficult to unravel when it comes to female
professionals.

Symbolism, Allusions And Imagery In Gary Soto s The Jacket
In Gary Soto s short story The Jacket Gary Soto uses symbolism, allusions, and imagery to
convey the theme to be thankful for what you have. In The Jacket by Gary Soto, the nameless
main character asks his mother for a biker jacket, instead he received a guacamole colored
jacket. Gary Soto states I stared at the jacket, like an enemy, thinking awful thoughts before I
took off my aged jacket whose sleeves climbed halfway to my elbow. I put the large jacket on.
He hates the jacket, puts it on anyways. This is a conflict in the story, he hates the jacket, puts it
on to make his mother happy. It s easy to tell he doesn t want to upset his mother is because Soto

One event that illustrates this is when the main character has a small montage in the story. In The
Jacket Soto explains that the character starts to wear the jacket more, and he describes who he
hangs with. This reveals that the boy accepts himself to be the ugly brother. In addition, Soto shows
that the boy s jacket starts to fall apart, but he still wears it, which only contributes to the idea that
you should be thankful for what you have. The point is that Soto uses imagery to convey the theme

Increasing the right flow tube radius increased the flow rate, decreased the resistance and increased
the pump rate.
Describe what the left and right beakers in the experiment correspond to in the human heart
The left beaker corresponded to the blood coming from the lungs, and the right beaker
corresponded to blood heading out to the rest of the body, or systemic circuit.
Briefly describe how the human heart could compensate for flow rate changes to maintain blood

name of Rosie Houck. Girl Scout Programs build the confidence, courage, and character of the
girls that will one day be leading society to the future. Each year girls from around the world put
all of the things that they have learned about people and helping others to the test. There are
three major awards that can be earned in Girl Scouts, the bronze, the silver and the gold. Rosie

Essay on The Economic Impact of the Mexican Peso Crisis
In 1994, the world saw the decline of the Mexican Peso, leading to what is now considered as the
Mexican Peso Crisis. The crisis was characterized by the drastic decline in the value of the
Mexican Peso. The Mexican Peso Crisis is considered significant because of its impact on other
parts of the region, including Brazil. The following is a discussion of the causes and impact of the
Mexican PesoCrisis.
The events/causes that led up to the devaluation of the peso
The Mexican Peso Crisis can be traced to the decision of then president Zedillo s decision to
reverse the government s then policy that imposes tight controls on the Mexican Peso. This
decision is considered by critics as an important factor that led to the Mexican Peso Crisis ... Show

It should be noted, prior to the crisis, there was already an increasing concern of economists and
critics about the credit quality that was provided by the financial sector at the time when there was
low interest rates that were applied by the government. There were also issues about the
inappropriateness or ineffectiveness of the standards that were used in extending credit by the
financial sector (Calvo, 171).
Another important factor that affected the financial sector and would eventually contribute to the
development of the Mexican Peso Crisis was that the risk premium of the Mexican economy was
significantly impacted by the armed conflicts that happened in Chiapas at that time. This armed
conflict led to a decline in investor confidence about business in Mexico, such that there was a
decline in the investment potential of the region (Mathur, 18).
In addition, in the decade leading to 1994, the government saw an increasing expenditure for
various projects in the country. The result was an increased reduction in the funds of the
government. Another more important factor was that the country experienced hyperinflation from
1985 through 1993. This period was also characterized by significant increases in debt loads of the
financial sector, as well as the low oil prices that also contributed to the weakening of the Mexican
economy (Mathur, 18). One would argue that the Mexican

Analysis Of Carline Hawthorne s The Great Gatsby
It was a brutally cold night in the Alps .The cold felt as if it was seeping through the walls and
floors and was pressing every one closer to the fire. The family had not been on the best of terms in
the recent months and needed time together. Carline Hawthorne, the mother, was the wealthiest
member of the family. Her business start up was a massive success and she was one of the
wealthiest women in Great Britain. In the recent months, Carline had caught her husbandNeville ,

he reached his destination. This was where she learned the dreadful truth. Neville was seeing
another woman. Unfortunately, Carline couldn t tell who this other woman was, but it didn t
much matter. She rushed home and started crying. She believed with all her heart that this was
the end of their marriage. Carline was searching and grasping for any positivity in that moment
and realized that it didn t necessarily mean the death of their marriage. She could make it work.
SHe did some quick research and found a great getaway to the alps where they could talk
everything over and, hopefully, save their marriage. Because money wasn t an issue, she rented a
charter plane for the next day to fly to Austria. She told her husband when he returned home and
it started a dispute. Carline told him that she knew he was cheating and needed this vacation. He
accepted, but it was clearly forced. Carline, Neville, James, and her assistant all flew to Austria
the next day. When they arrived at her cottage, she was astonished by the surreal view. The family
unpacked and they went out to the town. They returned home late and quickly realized the needed

Working Environment, Performance Management Essay
We define performance management as the process through which managers ensure that employees
activities and outputs are congruent with the organization s goals (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart,
Wright, 2016 ). In today s working environment, performance management allows dialogue around
performance improvement, which happens to be a system that many company s have adapted.
With there being high competition to build up an exemplary employee and be able to maintain
them different companies are rewarding and recognizing employees in different ways. There are
companies that believe that in order to motivate and retain an employee there has to be an
incentive. However, there are other companies that think the complete opposite, and believe that
an employee will work harder and be more motivated when the job is a non commission base role
or an incentive is expected. Argumentation/Discussion There are two different perspectives when it
comes it incentives. The argument for companies that believe incentives are a great way to drive
the growth and profit of the company is as follow. Incentives motivate an employee, and there are
experts that state that bonuses, rewards and incentives attract an employee to improve their work
performance, and meet deadlines. It is believed that incentives creates loyalty and trust between the
employee and its employer improving its relationship. There was a research with MIT students,
and they were given a set of challenges and to

How Does The Crucifixion In The Dream Of The Rood
In The Dream of the Rood, an Anglo Saxon poem written in the early Middle Ages, Christ s
death and burial is described in a manner which is startlingly different from the original biblical
accounts. In order to highlight the important victory of the crucifixion, the poet of The Dream of
the Rood describes Christ as an aggressive warrior who boldly confronts and defeats sin. This
description is constant with the honor and courage so highly valued in the early medieval culture.
The words used to describe Christ s approach to the crucifixionin The Dream of the Rood reveal the
poet s conscious choice to portray Jesusas a purposeful courageous warrior:
Then the young hero (who was God Almighty)
Got ready, resolute and strong in heart.
...the warrior embraced [the cross].
Instead of simply using the word Christ, the poet calls Jesus the young hero and the warrior. The
poet also presents a warrior like image of Christ by portraying Jesus exuberantly preparing for
combat rather than being lead passively to the cross. Where the Bible ... Show more content on

Where the book of John says that Jesus bowed his head and gave up his spirit, the poet of The
Dream of the Rood says that Christ sent forth his spirit. This small difference between these two
accounts is important because the poet of The Dream of the Rood does not suggest that Jesus
gently give up his spirit, but rather that he forcefully and willfully ended his life, in complete
control of the situation until the end. Just as The Dream of the Rood poet omits details in the
biblical accounts of the crucifixion that imply Jesus was a passive participant in his death, he or
she de emphasizes the disgrace, humiliation, and indignity of Christ s position. Nowhere in The
Dream of the Rood is it mentioned that Jesus was mocked, flogged, and spit upon in the manner
described in the gospel of

The Song By Bruce Springsteen
I was not born in the United States; yet, Bruce Springsteen s Born in the U.S.A. hit from his 1984
album by the same title is still culturally and politically significant. Springsteen is one of those
artists that is still heard in modern times because of the great amount of fame he has acquired
throughout his career. The song bring some attention to the wrongdoings of the United States
government in their treatment of their veterans, especially after the Vietnam War. It raises
awareness by using a catchy melody to draw listeners in; but Springsteen fails to achieve his
ultimate goal of influencing young adults to protest against their government because the
memorable words in the chorus overshadow the plot in the verses. This makes the... Show more

Springsteen s choice to involve himself in political issues, although not explicitly, was something
that was building up throughout his life as he transitioned from a young adult to an adult in his
mid thirties. As explained by New York Times writer Nicholas Dawidoff in an article from 1997
titled The Pop Populist , Springsteen s main concerns were not that of chasing young woman, but
that of needing to change the world around him (Dawidoff). By the time Springsteen wrote Born
in the U.S.A. , he had already built a good reputation for himself in the United States. This makes
it possible for Springsteen to influence large crowds of people to take action or, at the very least,
listen to what he has to say. Ronald Reagan used this song to praise American values. The irony of
this is that the song is doing the exact opposite of praising the United States for their role in the
Vietnam War and their treatment of their veterans. In an article titled Bruce Springsteen, Ronald
Reagan and the American Dream , Susan Mackey Kallis, an associate professor from Villanova
University, with co author Ian McDermott, explain how Springsteen, himself, spoke out against
usage of music in this manner of only paying attention to the surface (Mackey Kallis 7). This also
true for many listeners throughout the country. Listening to this song based on the

Bike Lanes
Dear Tom,
I chose to address the problem of not having bike lanes at UNR because it is something that I see
affects students everyday throughout campus. As not only a person who walks, but also rides
throughout campus, I am able to see from both sides of the spectrum why this is a problem. Not
only can it be a safety issue, but it is an inconvenience for anyone here at the University. I was
able to identify the stakeholders because I am one. Anyone here at the University is a stakeholder
because everyone on campus is affected by this problem. Many students, staff, and faculty are
concerned with the safety and wellbeing throughout campus, so with this problem being a major
inconvenience I was able to see how it may be concerning to some people. The most valuable
sources of information I used when researching this problem was the physical field research,
establishing a survey, and the archival research, meaning researching other schools and seeing how
they handle or handled the situation. I was able to ask many students whether they see not having
bike lanes as a problem and every single student I asked agreed. Although, it was a major problem
being able to perform this field research. It takes time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sidewalks may become more crammed limiting pedestrians on where they could walk. At
the same time pedestrians will be safer and possibly be able to travel faster and worry less. The
ones using the bike lanes could also benefit, as in they will be able to commute faster and more
efficiently from class to class. Although, they could also be faced with the problem of being
limited on where they could ride throughout campus. Not only will the students, staff, and faculty
here at the university be able to benefit from the proposed solution, but so will the campus as a
whole. For example, the campus could become much more safe and efficient, allowing the
university to move up in the ranks as a bike friendly

  • 4. Personal Narrative Losing Weight Essay Personal Narrative Losing Weight I know I should lose weight. It requires a lot of perseverance that I one time had and need to find again. Many of the reasons I should lose weight are very clear to me. I have read many articles and have heard what my doctor has told me. I lost over forty pounds about three years ago, unfortunately, I gained it back two fold when I was pregnant with my daughter. I still have not been able to get rid of this weight since she was born. Sometimes it causes me to get tired just from going to the grocery store. I also found out in September of last year that I have hypertension (high blood pressure) which effected my vision drastically by the following November. Other problems are social such as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Currently I must take a pill every day in order to keep my hypertension under control. Since I am not fond of taking medication, I would not miss taking it if losing weight would get rid of my hypertension all together. If I forget to take my pill first thing in the morning, I begin to get headaches and start feeling a little edgy by noon. My doctor is in the opinion that my weight is the main cause of my high blood pressure. I also began to have problems with my eyesight almost immediately after I learned I had hypertension. My vision began to get blurry and I felt pressure behind my eyes that scared me greatly. I had to get a much stronger prescription for my contact lenses and now have to return to my eye doctor to have my eyes tested every six months. My optometrist tells me that it is possible to reverse the effects the hypertension has had on my eyes. These health issues have become serious problems for me and if I lost weight, there is a strong possibility of becoming free of these problems. Losing weight would also reduce the risk of other health problems. My doctor has explained several of these risks to me. I do not remember all of them, but the ones that stick out in my mind the most are very common among the world today. He mentioned several forms of cancer to me. Breast cancer and ovarian cancer were among the ones that woman have a higher risk of being diagnosed with due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Inequality in British Schools Is there a problem of Inequality in British schools? The educational system is one of the most influential institutions in society as it provides young people with a vast amount of knowledge, attitudes and skills. These are acquired formally through set lessons or informally through the hidden curriculum which provides the unofficial and unplanned consequences of school experience. Social Inequality is one of the major preoccupations of sociology. The relationship between inequality and education has been studied for many years. Although it seems obvious that educational success is simply down to an individual s capabilities and motivation, sociological research shows that the inequalities in social class, gender and race and ethnicity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand if the teacher labels a pupil as un co operative or from a poor background, this can cause low self esteem and the pupil will be likely to fail to achieve much success. The Neo Marxist s perspective on class stratification in Britain claims that schools create a false class consciousness so it seems that they promote equal opportunities for all, but they really reproduce a capitalist division of labour, preparing young people for class determined careers in the labour market. Willis (1977) accepts the Marxist s view on education being closely linked to the needs of the capitalist s system; however he does not agree with the idea of there being a direct link between education and the economy. (Macionis. J, Plummer.K, 2008) His study found that poorer children often grow up in environments where people see little hope of upward social mobility and rebel against the system rather than trying to conform with in. In such an environment adults often discourage rather than encourage success at school. (Macionis. J, Plummer.K, 2008) Social class is not the only inequality in Britain s schooling. Sociologists have also found a link between gender and academic success. Until the late 1980 s there was high concern about the underachievement of girls. Societies had been structured to consider schooling more important for males than for females. Although the gap in gender ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Spanking In Children Everyday parents are faced with the challenges of disciplining their children. We all wish there was an instruction booklet that we could magical pull out and get them back on the right path, but no such thing exists. Often times, your child pushes you to the edge of your personal limitations. At this moment it is often we correct our child s behavior by spanking. Spanking is considered a form of discipline that is acceptable by most and an unacceptable to a smaller crowd. Spanking can lead to psychological problems in early adolescent, which long term can lead to emotional and anger retention. Spanking is like smoking cigarettes. Having one or two cigarettes in a lifetime likely won t give you cancer but ongoing smoking increases the risk... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of these parents who support spanking feel it is their right to do so. This is justified by the simple fact as when they were a child they were spanked and said I turned out okay . This is probably true for most of them, but 2017 is a different world from when they were children. Supporting parents often say they know when and where to draw the line. At least 1,200 children are killed every year at the hands of their parents in the name of physical punishment. (Guidance of Effective Discipline, online). As I stated early, there is no written guideline to follow, so how do we know when enough is enough? There is a huge grey area that is undefined and the true answer is they don t. Parents sometimes forget that it is there duty to teach and educate to help our children reach their full potential. Parents need to stop justifying their rights to discipline as a parent and focus on changing the culture by using alternative methods and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Education Of The United States In the two hundred forty one years since the founding of the United States, few have seriously argued the importance of education to society. Although education was left out of the United States Constitution in the interest of states rights, Thomas Jefferson was not alone in believing that the most important bill in our whole code is that for the diffusion of knowledge among the people... [which is necessary] for the preservation of freedom and happiness. (251). Despite a consensus on the necessity of education, its actualization has a storied past, one riddled with intense ideological debates, landmark court cases, petty politics, and, at times, military intervention (e.g. during desegregation). While lawmakers and judges have addressed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next, I will outline key elements of Amy Gutmann s Democratic State of Education, including nonrepressionism and freedom in choosing among competing conceptions of good life and good society. Once this framework is in place, I will proceed to explore the perceived incompatibility of Common Core with the principles of Gutmann s Democratic State. Ultimately, I will conclude that the standards are indeed compatible with a Democratic State of Education given the latitude that states have in tailoring the standards and given the fact that Common Core does not exclusively determine curriculum. The Common Core State Standards are the contrivance of a commission of governors and education leaders from forty eight states sponsored by the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers. The overarching goals of the commission in drafting the standards were to ensure that all students have the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life... regardless of where they live, and to promote equity by ensuring all students are well prepared to collaborate and compete with their peers in the United States and abroad. In essence, the standards were created to correct for geographical disparities in educational quality which had made for unequal opportunities available to students after graduation. • 8. Who Leaves A Sapphire Lying On The Ground Essay Who leaves a sapphire just lying on the ground? I bent over to pick up the twinkling gem. It was large, easily the size of a quarter, so it must be expensive. I was no gemologist, but I did know that the larger the gem, the more pricey it was. I rolled it around in my fingers, letting the light from the street lamps catch in all of its facets. Beautiful. I breathe. The dark blue of the sapphire almost seemed velvety, like the night sky. Too bad there weren t any specs of silver in the gem. Then it would really resemble the night sky. I sigh, a deep ache forming in my chest. The memory of a country nightside still burned fresh in my mind, as it wasn t long ago that I could marvel at the beauty of the night sky where I could actually see it. Those days are gone now, at least for the time being. I ll return it to the police tomorrow. Pocketing the jewel, I finished my walk back home. The city where I now live is nice, if you like air pollution and noise keeping you up all night, that is. Everyone is always saying that I ll get used to it everyone else already has but I haven t. Not yet. I stared up at the dark sky. It was suffocating, like a heavy blanket with no promise of being lifted. Nothing like my old home where the full moon was so bright, I could see almost as well as I can at sunset. There were always places to explore in the woods. Bridges to cross and discovering new surprises from nature used to be my life. Now, it s just pale buildings, pale ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Beyond Good And Evil By Joshua Lohin Art is a form of communication. Art is a form of language. The language of art can be elaborated in a multitude of ways, as well. These methods include the content, process, or themes of the artwork. The pieces Who Tells the Truth? and Beyond Good and Evil by Joshua Lohin, which I found in the University Gallery, Fulton Hall 109, are prime examples of art being conveyed as a language through their content. Firstly, the artwork Who Tells the Truth? by Joshua Lohin, is a digital print, depicting a woman standing with what appears to be an opaque veil over her head. The female figure s body is turned slightly away from the viewer, while her head is facing the viewer. The figure stands in an ostensibly grainy photograph with the words ... The two faces are placed in the center of the print, while the words, Beyond, Good, and, and Evil, are positioned around the edges of the print. Beyond is printed horizontally, and Good is printed vertically with the base of the word being faced toward the right end of the print. And is printed on the bottom left corner of the print, with the left end of the print as the base, and Evil is printed in the same manner as Beyond in the bottom right side of the print. Located around the faces in the center are smaller printed words being, originality, danger, imagination, and self assertion. I believe that perhaps the content in this print could be insinuating human demeanors as well. The smiling and frowning faces in the center are associated with the human expressions of smiling and frowning. Additionally, the words that are positioned around the faces describe human qualities. This could also be illustrated by the saying, Smiling faces tell lies. The quote tells that individuals can obscure their true emotions and feelings with their facial expressions. Anyone Who Is Watching News Such As The Euronews Channel, Anyone who is watching news such as the Euronews channel, has seen many times by now cases of serious crimes such as murders, rapes, kidnappings and sexual assaults. These crimes are heinous, violent and monstrous. The people who committed these crimes broke the law and they have to face the consequences of their actions. Due to such crimes are significant the government will take them to the court. Under multiple trials the judge will decide if they are guilty or not and if they are guilty they will spend some years of their lives in prisonor even their whole life. As Beaken (2013) states in his recent article, the amount and the kind of food that the individuals were eating it was one of their plenty punishments. He discovered that the detainees were eating one pound of bread per day and for dinner they were eating two pounds of potatoes or a half a pound of boiled rice with treacle. It was impossible to find someone who was eating meat as they did not give this kind of food. He claims that this diet led to sickness and death. After they saw that many individuals died, they start to providing meat twice a week. They were having different portions of each one of the persons according to the crime that they committed. • 11. Analysis Of The Sound Of Music At a period of time in the United States when the Vietnam War was rapidly escalating and gaining opposition among the younger generation, the film The Sound of Music was released. Directed by Robert Wise and released in 1965, The Sound of Music features musical numbers accompanied by the movement and dancing of the von Trapp family. The setting of the film is Salzburg, Austria in 1938 immediately following the start of German occupation due to the Anschluss. Ultimately, the reprise of So Long, Farewell in The Sound of Music subverts governmental authority over war by portraying a movement shift from being restricted and uniform to running away with hope of freedom. As this pattern progresses, the children escaping the stage show more and more freedom of movement. The last set of two sibling is two of the oldest daughters who, right before their exit, make a small leap. This is the first time that enough excitement is shown that any of the family members actually leave the stage surface. At this point in the number, only the two adults and the youngest child are left on stage. The youngest von Trapp is ushered off stage to join the others before Maria and Captain calmly walk off stage, embracing each other. The most obvious subversion of war authority belongs to the setting of the movie 1938 in Salzburg, Austria, the year in which Germanic Nazi power took over Austria. In March of 1938, Austria was the first victim of Hitler s policy of aggression. The German domination of that country (the so called Anschluss) heralded the beginning of a diplomatic demarche (Clute VII). Specifics as to how this happened include a conspired alliance between Austrian Nazis and German Nazis who infiltrated their power into Austrian government. The timeline of events began when Austrian Chancellor Kurt von Schuschnigg met with Adolf Hitler after learning of the conspiracy. Schuschnigg s intention from this meeting was to reassert dominance and independence, but instead was pressured into electing Austrian Nazis to the cabinet. On March ... • 12. Chemistry Involved in Electric Vehicles What is the chemistry involved in electric vehicles? Electrical cars have been around since the 1800s.The first practical electric car was designed by Thomas Parker in London. The vehicles popularity continued into the 20th century, until the technology of combustible engines advanced and the mass production of gas vehicles. In 2008 the electric car appeared once again because the advances in the battery and power technology, upward prices of oil and emissions. The electrical car originally used a lead acid based battery, today however the lithium ion rechargeable battery is used. The battery of the electric car stores chemical energy and converts the energy to electricity. The chemistry of the electric car is found mainly in the battery. In the battery there is a chemical reaction in cells which then produces a voltage. These batteries usually have 200 to 400 small cells. The cells are combined to create a powerful battery. The risk is that if one cell overcharge it causes a thermal reaction. The development electronic controls for this risk are in process but are expensive. Khalil Amine and Zonghai Chen of the Argonne National Laboratory discovered a molecule base of boron and fluorine added to each cell controls the charging of the battery cells. The molecule is said to be less costly and more reliable than the electric control. (MANDEL, 2009) In the 1800s the lead acid based battery was invented and used in electrical cars. • 13. China s Economic Growth Mechanism The article of Yasheng HuangпјЊnamed how did China take offпјЊdiscussing on economic growth mechanism, mainly come to China s economic reform had the process of financial liberalization. Furthermore, he pointed out that political reform, financial liberalization and the development of township enterprises are the key focus on China s development. Huang argues that the results of China s economic development are mainly due to internal reforms which are the reforms of China s rural industry. On the contrary, external reforms which made the contribution in the political sense, such as the establishment of special economic zones and foreign direct investment(FDI) , is not a general function as township and village enterprises(TVEs) did in China s economic development. Huang s paper analyzed the phenomena and causes of the take off in China s economy through four aspects. The first part is the beginning of China s economic reform from rural areas, the initial conditions of China s rural areas are more likely to produce both private entrepreneurship and market economy than the urban industrialization. Rural reforms also concerned about macroeconomic reform, especially for the public confidence in the credibility and stability of the government. This reform is a reform and even a revolution, not what they characterized as modest by some scholars. • 14. Utilitarian s Vs. Deontologists Utilitarian s vs Deontologists On the topic of the conception of right action, deontologists and utilitarian s had opposing views on what makes an action just. I argue that Bentham s view of determining right action, that an action is right if it has the tendency to maximize pleasure, is the optimal one because we are not able to determine the motivations of others with absolute certainty. Deontologists believed that good actions are bad without good will, and that motivation only mattered in determining a right action, not the outcome. Oppositely, utilitarian s believed that only the outcome mattered in determining right action, not the motivations. Immanuel Kant, a deontologist, determined good will as the concept of a will good in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kant gives an example for why lying is not a right action. He states that there is a man who needs money even though he knows he will not be able to pay it back, his maxim is I will borrow money and promise to pay it back, though I know that this will never be done (Kant 534). Kant explains that this maxim would not work as a universal law because every banker would not believe someone who says they are going to pay money back, therefore would never give out any loads. He goes on to explain how people should treat each other. He argues that it is not acceptable to treat someone as a merely as a means but at the same time as an ends (Kant 536). He says that to treat someone as a merely a means is to treat them merely as a machine in ones plan and involving them without their ability to consent. He argued that people needed to be treated as an ends meaning that people needed to be able to enter agreements of their own free will and without manipulation (Kant 537). Kant believed that treating people merely as a means was without good will and therefore could never produce a right action. On the other hand, Jeremy Bentham, a utilitarian, argued that the right action was the one that tendency it has to augment the happiness of the community is greater than any it has to diminish it (Bentham 481). It seems like every day there is a new institution, business, or mural being cleared away to make room for the new. These Chicanos, are not saying that people of other races or backgrounds cannot live in these neighborhoods as well, they just want it to be the same tight knit group of people who are able to help each other out and provide information to people of the same background. The idea of a tight knit community plays an important role in preservation and is imperative to these individual s survival. Bobby Lefebre also writes, Let s honor our past by ensuring Northside communities of all backgrounds are not erased. Let s work together to preserve our diverse traditions and cultural artifacts; even if preservation means creating things anew. Even though gentrification is happening in multiple neighborhoods, there is still ideas for how to keep the original feel and the historical value that people who have lived in the area for a long time would benefit from and help give peace of mind, with the changes that are happening in their neighborhood. The Latin American rhythms gave Bernstein a good musical base to start from, and the whole score benefited from a jazzy Manhattan feel, which had been inherited from Gershwin, as well as Copland s romantic Americana feel. Robbins choice of a cast was very meticulously done. He wanted a real feeling that had never been reached before in Musical history. He wanted actors that were not well known, and that would get his theme of reality across to the audience. During rehearsals he actually separated the Jets and the Sharks and didn t allow them to socialize or even talk to one another. He also didn t allow the actress playing Anybodys to eat lunch with anyone at all. The show opened on Broadway on September 16, 1957. At first, the critics were not able to fully appreciate the magnitude of the achievement, but one critic, Brooks Atkinson wrote that the ballets convey the things that Laurents is inhibited from saying because the characters are so inarticulate. This was done intentionally as a part of the realistic approach to the musical. By making the teenagers inarticulate, they were forced to communicate at an emotional level that almost lended itself to an impressionistic approach. The statement of freedom like free flowing words on the page of poem, contains various definitions like different possible interpretations of a poem. While at the time for Langston Hughes, his definition of freedom was chained by the pigment of his skin. As he acknowledges his conflict with freedom while struggling against racism, Langston Hues in his poem I Too, expresses how the issue of racism has been understated in America through the usage of euphony, free verse and enjambment, depicting that the existence of freedom that was promised by America is incomplete. Through the usage of euphony, Hughes softly calls out the matter of racism, an issue is barely touched on in America today. At the time I Too was written in 1925, this soft call depicts the fear and suppression the darker brother (Hughes) of America faced. While the euphony created by the patterns of the lines But I laugh/ And eat well,/ And grow strong (Hughes) portrays their nonviolent protest against this untouched oppressive force of racism, today, the euphony behind the positive dictions such as company (Hughes) in this poem presents the issue as if it is simply the difference between ea[ting] in the kitchen or eating at the table. The usage of euphony depicts that the issue of racism is easier said than done, for that the issue was never solved but only modernized. Hence, this parallel emphasizes how understated the issue of racism is in America, while at the same time contradicting the reality of the issue In addition, because euphony is used throughout the poem, Hughes stresses that between the difference of color, the same patriotic language is spoken, for that he too, sing America (Hughes) in the same National Anthem in the same euphonious tone. However, the participation of this singing is still has not euphoniously provide him a seat at the American table. By hiding him in the kitchen, America hides racism in the kitchen, to create the look of a euphonious table as mocked by the way this poem hides it behind its euphonious words. To further echo the understated issue of racism, Hughes uses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It should be noted, prior to the crisis, there was already an increasing concern of economists and critics about the credit quality that was provided by the financial sector at the time when there was low interest rates that were applied by the government. There were also issues about the inappropriateness or ineffectiveness of the standards that were used in extending credit by the financial sector (Calvo, 171). Another important factor that affected the financial sector and would eventually contribute to the development of the Mexican Peso Crisis was that the risk premium of the Mexican economy was significantly impacted by the armed conflicts that happened in Chiapas at that time. This armed conflict led to a decline in investor confidence about business in Mexico, such that there was a decline in the investment potential of the region (Mathur, 18). In addition, in the decade leading to 1994, the government saw an increasing expenditure for various projects in the country. The result was an increased reduction in the funds of the government. Another more important factor was that the country experienced hyperinflation from 1985 through 1993. This period was also characterized by significant increases in debt loads of the financial sector, as well as the low oil prices that also contributed to the weakening of the Mexican economy (Mathur, 18). How Does The Crucifixion In The Dream Of The Rood In The Dream of the Rood, an Anglo Saxon poem written in the early Middle Ages, Christ s death and burial is described in a manner which is startlingly different from the original biblical accounts.
