only two classes that were part of my study plan that I needed for this semester, and I created a

Failing to make to the JV soccer team has been one of most impactful moments of my life, and it
has changed the way I approach athletics and life outside of sports.
For most of my life, I was skilled in organized sports, especially soccer, which I had played for
many years. After a successful soccer season my freshman year, I thought that I would make the
JV team for sure. At tryouts, I went through the motions of each drill. I breezed through the
conditioning tests, doing the bare minimum for each test. I didn t try as hard as others, as I felt that
I was more skillful than most of my peers.
On the last day of tryouts, the coaches made cuts for the teams. They called each one of us
separately to meet. The head coach started off by saying that I was a good player and that I had a

Band Concert Review
When I first arrived at Live on the Green I had never seen the venue or heard any of the bands
who were performing. I didn t look up to see who was performing in which slot I just thought
whenever I get ready and get there is who I will see play. Luckily enough for me Anderson East
exceeded my expectations. I left Saturday around four, picked up my friend, and off we went.
When we arrived we scanned our seating options. People were scattered everywhere. Some on
blankets and in chairs on the lawn, some were relaxing under shade of the trees at tables, and then

You didn t have to be too involved. You could just move about and do your thing and he would
address the crowd occasionally to keep them involved. Anderson had lovely stage performance.
Always moving around and interacting with the rest of the band as well as the audience. He had
good dance moves in my opinion that went well with the groove of the music. You could hear a
saxophone, drums, a trumpet, and two guitars in this performance. His outfit was super trendy
and modern. He engaged a relationship with the audience when he first stepped on stage and
then spread it out throughout the rest of his set, making sure to comment to us every now and
again. The behavior of the audience affected my experience by making me feel like I could
really let lose. I was cheering for the band and completely enjoying myself. I was glad to have a

Both were looked down upon. Many Americans disapproved of the lifestyle they chose to live.
Both also rejected authority and the status quo. Hippies felt their best chance at changing society
was to drop out of school and the world around them while beats felt traveling around the country
would help them defeat the horrors of society. They were both non materialistic and non
conformists and believed in freedom of expression. Beats showed their expression through
literature and art. Both experimented with different drugs and started the drug epidemic which hit
in the late 1960s. Allen Ginsburg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti were major figures in the anti war
movements during the 1960s and wrote beat literature during the 1950s (Bennett 343). Another
person was Neal Cassady. Neal Cassady was not only the symbol of the Beat Generation, but he
was also the symbol of the Hippie Generation (Beat 36). Although the Beat Movement influenced
the Hippie Movement, the two had many differences between them. Since styles often change in
quickly, the Beat Generation and Hippie Generation dressed differently. The Beat Generation
looked more grungy with scruffy chins and mustaches and worn out clothing, while the Hippies
wore bright vibrant colors with peace symbols and had long beards. Music also fluctuates so
during the Beat Movement many listened to jazz music because it took place during the big jazz

Physicians for Human Rights states, Freedom from cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment is a
fundamental human right established in international law . In 2009, the United Nations met to
discuss torture and other cruel treatments and punishment. This became known as the UN
Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.
During this Convention, they established many laws, in Part One, Article Two it states, No
exceptional circumstances whatsoever, whether a state of war or a threat of war, internal political
instability or any other public emergency, may be invoked as a justification of torture . Even though
there is international law, torture is practiced in over 100 countries. These countries often justify
this doing by saying they need to extract confessions, identify terrorists, and obtain intelligence
critical to preventing attacks. The UN does not tolerate any torture, no matter the circumstances.
When Guantanamo Bay was found of violating human rights and international law, President Bush
insisted that all detainees were well cared for and that none of the enhanced interrogation techniques
