Beliefs And Attitudes Toward The Native Americans
Though a lot of individuals saw the Native Americans as savages, I see them just as protectors and
defenders of their land. From a Native American prospective, if you and your people were living
peacefully since the beginning of time, and then all of a sudden, people you have never seen before
invades your land; no one is undeniably going to take kindly to that! Especially when the invaders
came to claim your land, brought illnesses and infections during the process, and then began to
brutally murder you and your people because you look differently than them, and you wouldn t
comply with their demands. I suppose depending on the Native Americans faith and how many of
their people were killed by the invaders determined how savagely and deadly the Native Americans
became. For example, John Smith, Mary Rowlandson, and Mary Jemison were all captured by a
different tribe of Native Americans in different locations and time eras. So, of course, Smith s,
Rowlandson s and Jemison s captivity narratives had extremely different views and attitudes toward
the earlier occupants of the American soil, nature, and ethical values. First of the three that was
captured was Mr. John Smith.
While on an expedition in December of 1607, Captain John Smith and his men were attacked by a
surge of Native Americans. The Native Americans, that was the Powhatan s Tribe, killed John Smith s
men, but spared his life after Smith gave them a fascinating object which was a compass. After
capturing him,

The Stereotypes Of Reality Television
What once started as every day, regular people appearing on television shows have now morphed into
celebrities and want to be celebrities competing for attention and doing almost anything to receive it
on primetime television. The genre of television, which was once jumpstarted by the appeal of
relatable people, who could be the viewers next door neighbors, being featured has since disappeared
and been replaced by a monstrosity that does not accurately portray reality and often stereotypes
people (Huff). One specific group that has been targeted by what reality television has morphed into is
women. The new version of reality television is specifically adequate at encouraging gender culture,
the set of behaviors or practices associated with masculinity and femininity (Huff). Reality television
enforces gender roles and negatively impacts feminism in today s society. Reality television sexualizes
women, portrays them as dependent on and less superior to men, and exemplifies them as dramatic,
catty, and often only as homemakers. The portrayal and stereotyping of women on reality television is
demoralizing and can be described as the contemporary backlash against feminism ( Reality TV ).
These false and demeaning stereotypes are prevailed in all types of reality television shows, making
their impact extensive, considering Americans spend one third of their spare time watching television
and of that time sixty seven percent is spent watching reality television ( Reality

apparatus, machine, or system to consistently perform its intended or required function , on demand
and without degradation or failure. This paper proposes to increase the reliability of RAID level 5
arrays used for storing archival data. Here, group of two or three identical RAID arrays are considered
at the initial stage. Next, a shared parity disk is added to each group containing diagonal parities of
their arrays. Now, the new organization can tolerate all double disk failures and between 75 and 89
percent of triple disk failures without incurring any data loss. Two techniques can be used for
increasing reliability such as Even Odd scheme and Row Diagonal Parity (RDP) scheme. This paper
gives a study on Even Odd scheme and Row Diagonal Parity (RDP) scheme for increasing reliability
and also proposes a new sparing technique, double parity sparing. Hence forth the proposed scheme
provides better reliability as compared to the existing.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Agility Key In Future Workplaces
Creating a stand out literary piece as a writer is challenging even to brilliant writers. Many minute
details affect literary pieces, but it is imperative that the author utilize rhetorical devices to make their
statements meaningful and persuasive. An article titled Agility Key in Future Workplaces, with Robot
Bosses by Rex W. Huppke employs rhetorical devices effectively to prove points. The article focuses
on future trends in business, and the type of future worker companies are going to be looking to hire.
Huppke explains that the future will involve agile workers who, instead of working at companies for
extended periods of time, will be freelancers that are hired for short periods of time to complete
projects. In the article by Rex Huppke ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to self employment to avoid having a boss, yet that doesn t mean they are able to manage themselves

human boss (Huppke 3). This conversation with the professor views Huppke utilizing artistic proofs
that appeal to the readers reasoning and common sense. By providing a rationale for this trend, such as
lower financial costs for businesses, Huppke is effectively able to display the logic behind this trend
and satisfy questions skeptical readers have. Overall, Huppke was able to illustrate sound reasoning

Irrationality In King Lear
What defines madness? Is it a state of being that is derived from deterioration of the brain, or perhaps,
extremely foolish behavior that creates mayhem and chaos? I presume it is a collaboration of the two,
for without sane cognitively the basis for irrationality would not be present, such is the case of King
Lear. A man riddled with madness inside and out, yet through his state of frenzy and turmoil, Lear
unveils unexpected guidance, validity, and enlightenment. It seems impossible for two opposing ideas
to have subsequent logical soundness, but it is the goal for this essay to clearly defend the paradox that
exist between madness and truth. According to two different articles, first by Jude Arnold s article,
How do we judge King Lear, and second by Alexander Truskinovsky, Literary Psychiatric
Observation and Diagnosis Through the Ages: King Lear Revisited, both authors find cause and
reasoning for this underlining connection. King Lear, illustrates a paradox of how madness illuminates
the truth by demonstrating how an insane character can find clarity in the misery of his misfortunes
through his actions. Therefore, the author mirrors this reasoning by demonstrating the consequences of
Lear s lunacy and foolish behavior, as an eye opener for elucidating the truth to him. Lear s deeds
provide key insight into the subsequent misfortunes that introduce the paradox created by
Shakespeare. Tell me, my daughters...Which of you shall we say doth love us most? That we our

The Stains of Watergate
On June 17, 1972, security guard Frank Wills became a national hero. At twenty four years old, he
was working the midnight shift at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters at the
Watergate complex in Washington, D.C. He discovered tape over a basement door lock and thinking
none of it, he removed the tape. On another inspection round, he found the lock taped over again and
called the police. They locked the doors, turned off the elevators, and started checking darkened
offices. At 2:30 a.m. on the 6th floor of the Watergate complex, the police discovered five men who
were identified as the Plumbers Unit on orders by The Committee to Re elect the President (CREEP)
to burglarize the DNC. The men, one who was an ex CIA agent, were convicted of conspiracy,
burglary, and illegal wiretapping. However, what started as a third rate burglary unravelled into a
broad network of political corruption and espionage within the Nixon administration that became
known as Watergate. Before the summer of 1972, the term Watergate meant nothing more than a
luxurious complex in Washington, D.C., but because five highly cunning men were somehow caught
by an average, $80 per week security guard, it became associated with the greatest political scandal of
the century and many more after that. The Watergate scandal proliferated public skepticism of and
mistrust in the federal government, and an angry American public called for immediate response. The
widespread public mistrust and

Suburban Creative Writing
From a distance, all you could here was the subtle noise of people screaming. The wind was blowing
slightly and there was a light sprinkle in the air, but the weather wasn t stopping these people. As the
hollering slowly quiets down, a group of five or six friends walk out of the arena laughing and talking
amongst each other, having the time of their lives at their favorite singers concert. They stood and chit
chatted outside of the gates of the arena for what felt like hours, until the light sprinkle turned into a
downpour. The teenagers then quickly ran to their suburban that seemed to be miles and miles down
the parking lot. Their suburban was the last vehicle in the parking lot. As they were running Jenny
yelled I call shotgun! as the rest of the group groaned in between runs. Once they reached the car, one
by one they piled in. They playfully yelled at Jackson, the driver, to start the car already so they could
turn on the heater because they were all wet and freezing to death as Dustin would say. Once they all
got into the car, it quickly heated up from all of the huffing and puffing from all of the out of shape
teenagers running through the parking lot and the heat blowing out through the rented car s vents, on
full blast. The chatting quickly continued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Today, the park continues to be a popular destination for family outings and picnics; a more healthful
alternative to shopping malls.
The La Mesa Watershed is vital to the 12 million residents of Metro Manila as its source of clean
drinking water as well as clean air from the forest. The Ecopark also provides educational
opportunities for the public to become more environmentally aware. It serves as an outdoor recreation
area while at the same time showcasing different species of flora and fauna.
The rehabilitation of the park and the surrounding forest is a successful example of the joint effort of
both the public and private sector. On one end, the government should have been able to maintain the
park and preserve the forest on its own. However, with the infusion of private funds and proper
management, the park is now revitalized and the surrounding forest is nearly completely reforested.

Florida Keys Mosquito Control Case Study
The Florida Keys is facing a crisis in the growth of deadly mosquito populations who pose a threat to
its Tourists and residents. The species Aedes aegypti is an invasive species in the Florida Keys that
carries Dengue Fever and Chikungunya and spreads these diseases to humans by biting them (Oxitec,
United States ). Dengue fever and Chikungunya are potentially fatal, viral ailments that have no
present day treatment apart from treating patient s symptoms (Oxitec, United States ). According to
the Florida Keys Mosquito Control Division (FKMCD), they present efforts for fighting off these

believes that it has come up with a solution to combat the growth of Aedes aegypti populations using
genetically engineered sterile male Aedes aegypti to sire offspring that will not survive into
adulthood(Oxitec, United States ). In response to this, many of the Key s residents are protesting

positive information that the FKMCD presents for Oxitec, they make little provision for debate. As a
result, it could be suggested that the FKMCD are treating this plan as if it were already passed, leaving
the public without a voice. Larry Kahn documents protests against the initiation of trials for Oxitec s

Designing A 3d Design Of 3d Printing
3d printing is the process of three dimensional solid objects from a computer file. The following
information is about 3D printing and the processes that it takes to 3D print. There are many pro and
cons to 3D printing that I will list below. In this paper I will also talk about what equipment it will
take to make a 3D print, But first we will talk about the steps to make a 3D design.
There are eight steps to print a 3D design. The first step is to start with making a virtual design of an
object you want to create. The file that you create the image from is called a (CAD) or Computer
Aided Design file. This software may provide some hints to the structural integrity you can expect in
the finished product. It will also help you with specific data about certain materials to create virtual
simulations of how the project will behave under certain conditions.
The second step is called Conversion to STL. You will have to convert the CAD drawing, to the STL
format. STL is an acronym for standard tessellation language. Which is a file format developed for 3D
Systems in 1987 for use by its stereolithography apparatus (SLA) machines. Most 3D printers use STL
files in addition to some proprietary file types such as, ZPR by Z corporation. Some of the types of
printers include, Sterolithography or (SLA), Digital Light Processing (DLP), Fused deposition
modeling (FDM), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Selective laser melting (SLM), Electronic Beam
Melting (EBM), and Lamainatied

The Effect Of Performance Measurement On The Public Sector
Who is considered the father of TQM, what are the key elements, and why are they important in our
discussion of performance measurement in the public sector? The father of Total Quality Management
is W. Edwards Deming. The key elements of TQM are:
1. Leaders must develop and disseminate the aims and purposes of the organization. Management
must also commit to them.
2. Everyone, including upper management, must learn the new philosophy.
3. In the interest of processes improvement and cost reduction, everyone must understand the purpose
of inspection.
4. Eliminate the practice of using cost as the basis for awarding business.
5. Improve systems of production and service continuously.
6. Implement modern training methods.
7. Teach leadership.
8. Eliminate fear, build trust, and create an environment conducive to innovation.
9. Staff and work groups must be optimized toward the aims of the organization.
10. Eliminate please to the workforce.
11. Eliminate numerical quotas for work, instead of learning and implementing methods for
improvement.
12. Eliminate obstacles that deprive people of pride in their work.
13. Encourage worker education and self amelioration.
14. Act to bring about the transformation.
The key elements are important in our discussion of performance measurement in the public sector
because without these key elements there will be no performance improvement nor customer
satisfaction. Customer satisfaction is essential for the progress of any organization.

Design Of Reliable And Effective Damage Detection Techniques
Problem Definition
Composite materials and structures are particularly attractive for aerospace applications due to their
high stiffness, high strength and low weight properties. The use of such structures allows for an
overall aircraft mass reduction, reduced fuel consumption and increased service life resulting in a
reduction in aircraft operating costs.
Early detection of damage within composite structures is of prime importance to safety and reliability.
When a void is present, internal stresses in the material are not distributed evenly, resulting in high
stress concentrations around the area where the damage has occurred. In general the presence of
defects results in poor structural performance, decreased load carrying ... Show more content on

Shape memory alloys, optical fibres, piezoelectric and magnetostrictive materials currently represent
the most suitable options for smart structural applications. Piezoelectric and magnetostrictive
materials have both sensing and actuation capabilities.
With the recent development of magnetostrictive material (Terfenol D) in particle form it is possible to
embed or surface bond a smart layer in composites structures without sacrificing their mechanical
properties while exploiting the larger strain as compared to the use of piezoelectric materials. [3][[4]
demonstrated the feasibility of sensing delaminations in composite laminates using embedded
magnetostrictive particle layers, [5] use a magnetostrictive patch to sense for multiple delaminations.
Configurations employed so far make use of external sensors and offline inspections. This paper
proposes a magnetostrictive sensor configuration for an online, structural integrity monitoring system.
Background
Magnetostriction
Magnetostriction is a property of ferromagnetic materials that exhibit a mechanical strain in response
to an applied external magnetic field. This effect is a reversible exchange of energy between the
mechanical and the magnetic form. Magnetostriction was first described in 1842 by James Joule after
he observed that a sample of

What s the Reason for Books Being Banned? There are multiple books around the world being
banned. One reason books should not be banned is because books can teach a lesson. Another reason
is that every book is written and published for a reason, if the publisher did not think the book was
worth something, they would not have wanted to publish it. Also that books can be encouraging and
inspirational. Some people believe books should not banned in schools/libraries because every book
can teach a lesson. One reason books should not be banned is because books can teach a lesson. Books
can teach a lesson by, As soon as Jonas was assigned as Giver he didn t realize the responsibility. (The
Giver). That getting huge roles in life may mean that you are receiving more or bigger responsibilities.
It shows that with him getting the role of the Giver he had more responsibilities, and with him learning
his responsibilities he had to read more to learn them. If he would not have had books he would not
have been able to read about his new responsibilities as the Giver. This quote connects because he has
to be able to read to be the Giver and be head of the city. Do not end your life over something that can

imagination into a different world/place. People could come up with multiple reasons on why books
should be banned but, the truth is that no book should be banned because there are ways to fix the
situation to make sure that the books are in the right age group and right place in the schools/libraries.
This is why I think every book is written and published and put into schools/libraries for a

A Survey Of Theories Of International Migration
This literature review starts with a survey of theories of international migration, the emergence of
Filipino Labour Diaspora, focusing on the role of the Philippine state. Consequently, it examines the
role of Canadian state in attracting FLCMs to work as domestic workers in Canada. Lastly, it
examines the role of the market in perpetuating gender role and victimization in labor diaspora.
1. Theories of International Migration
Theories of international migration studies often neglect the role of the state that produces and shape
the process. Yet, politics and the states underlie much of the international migration movements
through immigration policies and institutionalized bureaucracy related to migration. For instance, both

Here, the state is integrated only when it deals with market expansion, political power or any other
capitalist interests of the government. Conversely, the social capital theory explains structural links,
such as the memberships gained from networks and social institutions both in countries of origin and
destination. Lastly, the theory of cumulative causation explains the personal, social and economic
changes, which migration brings to an individual and its community (Massey 1999). Here the role of
states is left behind or if it is mentioned, it one sidedly deals with receiving countries.
2. Overseas Filipino Workers and the Role of the State
This section aims to trace the emergence of Filipino labour diaspora by relying on historical analysis
to understand the role of the state in fostering out migration to the Philippines. Milton Esman defined
diaspora as a minority ethnic group of migrant origin which maintains sentimental or material links
with its land of origin. Diaspora studies in the 1980s and 1990s surfaced as a sociological approach to
account for international migration and assimilation. Diasporas are believed to not have assimilated
into their host country, and consciously share a collective memory because they formed an imagined
community and a global village made possible by globalization. James Clifford adds that diasporas
maintain links to their homeland with the desire for eventual return nurtured by a shared and an

Saint Pierre Is An Experimental Dance Video Based On The
Saint Pierre is an experimental dance video based on the intimacy of bodies and relationships through
a feminine and affective look. The video has as a primary reference the number 6 letter of the Tarot,
The Lovers. This card speaks of; love, choices, as well as of the rational and the emotional in
harmony. This card reminds us that we often make our choices based on desires, feelings, and
hormones. Once reading Freud I noticed that for him the reasons for human sufferings would be
derived from three basic factors: the external world, the relationships (especially the loving ones), and
the body. For some time now, I have been interested in issues related to body, desire and subjectivity.
Body as the place of sexuality, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This couple dancing is the representation of romantic love, but they have certain fears of this approach
because they are afraid of being watched and judged. We heard voices, rumble. There is a world
outside this intimacy.
The video begins with an extreme close up of the skin, by the hedgehogs, sweat on the skin and
whispers in different languages. The bodies touch, male bodies, male voices. A dance, an intimate
encounter. Love is the same in any language. The next shot is more open, we can see more about these
bodies, we can see their faces. Two men dancing, a kind of tango. The music that packs them in this
dance begins (Saint Pierre the name of the Song). You still cannot see where they are. The next shots
will be wider and always the same choreography packed by the same song. In the fourth short appears
another figure, a woman, red wings and a wreath on the head. The woman dances around them, she
tries shyly to enter the dance but she keeps a certain distance from them. She dances probes the two
men. The woman is the angle in the Tarot card, the lovers. She blesses the union between these two
men. The sexual energy that emanates from this dance is transforming.
PD I would like Production Design to be very attentive to the elements and symbolism of the Tarot
card, The Lovers, the elements of that card such as flowers, colors, insinuation to capital sin must be
present in this video. Other elements can be incorporated. The use of the smoke

Describe Five Stressors
Five stressors that can specifically affect the health of a workingwoman are financial obligations, poor
diet, family, minimal sleep, and social duties. Possible ways to reduce stress are to identify stress,
implement healthy coping mechanisms, exercise, allocate time for relaxation, and proper time
management.
To identify the stress you must look at your routine, approach, and excuses. By accepting
responsibility for your actions you can take control of a situation. To do so you can create a checklist
on how to categorize your stress by identifying the cause, how you felt about it, responded to it, and
how you made your self feel better. Next is to implement healthy coping mechanisms this important

College Cost In College
The author talks about college cost, and the effect it has on students and on how times it takes longer
to graduate. This is an important topic because college cost has been a problem for many individuals
for decades and it still is. College cost is something that shapes people s lives and it worries them
because college cost is what determines if they re going to continue going to college. It s something
that people should take lightly because college is pretty expensive. According to the advocacy group
complete college America, it cost 63,718 for one extra year to attend college. For students who take
longer to finish school because of certain requisites, it becomes a toll because of the cost. According to
Norton Field Guide to writing by Richard Bullock and Maureen Daly Goggin found a report on Los
Angeles bases campaigns for college opportunity, saying students who attend school 6 years instead of
4 years will lose 110,900 dollars in their lifetime. Many people in the work field and colleges expect
students to attend school for four years. According to the NFGW, nearly nine out of 10 freshmen think
they will earn their bachelor degree within the traditional four years. Yet In the NFGW quotes the U.S
Department of Education and they report that about 45 percent won t have finished.
I have encountered many people who have mentioned that college is very expensive and that it has
been a big factor on whether they would continue their education. People can take a break

Skinner Vs Cognitivism
Intro B.F. Skinner and Jean Piaget were two influential theorists that have made a huge contribution to
the field of education. Skinner s theory is referred to as the behaviorist theory, and Piaget s is
cognitive theory. Both theories of learning are based on the development from two completely
different perspectives while making an impact on educators around the world. Behaviorism is based
off the belief that behavior is shaped through positive and negative reinforcement. Cognitivism is
based on the concept that individuals process the information they receive rather than responding to
stimuli. Characteristics of both theories illustrate the vast differences yet slight similarities in

Skinner conducted extensive research into reinforcement as a method of teaching (Good Therapy,
2015). Utilizing operant conditioning, Skinner has proven that reinforcement increases the chances of
behavior to repeat. His theory is widely used today amongst teachers, animal trainers, counselors and
parents around the world.
Jean Piaget Cognitive Development Jean Piaget is another influential theorist who is known for his
development of cognitive theory. This theory focuses on the development of an individuals thought
processes along with how these thought processes influence the understanding and interaction with the
world. Detailed observational studies of cognition in children, Piaget proposed that cognitive
development occurs throughout four stages. The first stage is the sensorimotor stage: from birth to the
age of two. This stage is where the child experiences his or her world through senses and movement.
A child begins to understand that one action can cause another action. The second stage is the pre
operational stage, from two to seven years old. At this stage, a child is aware of the separation from
the environment around them. They are able to represent things with words and images while using
intuitive rather than logical reasoning. The third stage is concrete operations: from the ages of seven to
eleven. This is a period in which a child will begin to

Cultural Hegemony In Australia
In comparison, knowledge and knowledge creation can be affected by cultural hegemony and
ideologies which could call into question its value. Hegemony is the idea that people in power
maintain power by influencing societies acceptance of their ideologies rather than using coercion
(Rachar 2013, p. 238). In this time and age, this is performed by the control of media resources and
Internet opinion (Kumar 2011, p.39). Media suppliers are highly experienced at emotive and
persuasive content and reap the financial rewards of ratings (Edwards 2012, p. 69). In Australia, it is
perhaps worth considering that a majority of our media, in particular, our newspapers are owned by
companies such as Fairfax Media and News Corporation (Finkelstein 2012, p. 58). ... Show more

Before the advancement of current technologies, the world was reliant more upon the written word to
gain knowledge of current affairs and information of importance to their lives, this allowed for greater
control of knowledge sources and individual countries and communities could apply their forms of
cultural hegemony, with much greater ease such as Adolph Hitler s Nazi campaign (Renders 2001, p.
89). The adoption of newspaper propaganda heralded in the Nazi party and their systematic inundation
of cultural hegemony, led to the acceptance of their ideologies and morals by the people of Germany,
who appeared to not even question the knowledge that was being provided to be possibly false
(Renders 2001, pp. 89 90). Knowing that those in the majority or in power can have such a strong
influence on knowledge, could alter the perception or trust of knowledge negatively and devalue

Comparing Dr. Seuss Short Story Green Eggs And Ham
When thinking about the classic story Green Eggs and Ham by the brilliant Dr. Seuss, one can
conclude that with persistence you can convince someone to try something they normally wouldn t try.
The short story Green Eggs and Ham starts off with Sam, trying to persuade the unknown character to
attempt to eat green eggs and ham. Sam creatively elaborates to the unknown character different
locations and different partners to try the Green Eggs and Ham. By the end, the unknown character
gives in and eats the green eggs and ham, and ends up adoring eating the strange meal. I believe the

Seuss. These two books have so much in common. The most common thing that they have in a
collective prospective is that both books contain rhyming words in them. Most of the words are
repeative throughout the book until the end. In Green Eggs and Ham the theme was try new things,
you might find you like them. I do so like Green Eggs and Ham! Thank you! Thank you, Sam I am.

This shows them that they can too try new things they might enjoy it. On the other hand, One Fish,

him to try the food. He asks would he like to try it with different partners even different places. He
never would budge then finally he leads up giving in. At the end, he gracefully thanks Sam I Am for

Difference Between Round And Square Donuts
Comparing the volumes of a round and square donut.
Which of these two donuts better fits in a dozen box?

Everybody loves to have a donut every once in a while. It s a tasty desert that nobody can deny;
children all the way to adults love it. I am personally a huge donut lover! When I usually walk through
the mall I find different coffee shops selling square donuts, and not only round ones. This is what

While if the producers were to depend on producing round donuts, the donut box would not be
completely filled at the corners, leaving empty spaces at the corner and between two consecutive
donuts. The percentage increase in the amount of donut found per donut suggests as well that it is
better for the producers to make square donuts, which in this case benefits the consumer as well. One
thing that must be taken into consideration when finding the volume of a square donut is that the
corners of this donut are not perfectly edged, which means that even though it fits into a rectangular
box better than a round donut, there are still very minimal empty spaces that are not covered.
Overall, my aim in this experiment is to prove how it will be efficient to produce a square donut and
depend on it, because it will be a new trend that everyone wants to try, there will be more dough per
donut, price change wouldn t be higher than that of a round donut since the diameter of the circle and
the length of the side of the square donut are the

What Are The Reasons For The Fall Of Lenovo
Reasons for fall
From being one of the greatest innovators of all time and developing products like the first radio
carried to the moon, the first cell phone, Motorola gradually lost its position in the consumer mobile
market. Before even the split of Motorola to Motorola mobility and Motorola Solutions the decline
had started. A combination of bad decisions led to its fall and led to Motorola losing relevance in the
market.
In 1990 Motorola s annual revenues were of the tune of 11 billion under the leadership of Bob Galvin
and was raked in the top 50 companies of all times. It was the first company to develop Lean Six

Crime Statistics In Rural Communities
Although many people seem to believe that rural communities and populations are without crime, this
is a misconception that effects the way in which policing takes place. Crime statistics in local
communities do not put emphasis on the happenings in rural communities. This leads to shortages in
specialty crime units that could be useful in rural areas, though difficult to supply because of low
usage. The resources, such as funding, that could be allocated to rural areas is then provided to other
departments that benefit locals. This could lead to shortage of officers in rural communities, which
causes strain on officers from higher shift loads. For a local police officer, work slates can be divided

This type of policing is reactive where police officers patrol communities looking for crimes that have
or are occurring. This style of policing allows for all suspects to be treated the same regardless of
criminogenic factors. This type of policing leads to higher arrests and can be used as a deterrent due to
high numbers of people talking about the police catching their crimes. This type of policing is
effective when focusing on tackling a specific crime that is causing great numbers of harm to societies
as seen with initiatives on gun violence, drinking and driving or drug trafficking. This type of policing
limits corruption, which can be seen in policing approaches where close community interactions can
lead to bias an unfair treatment. However, traditional policing is not without drawbacks. This type of
policing leaves no room for discretion leading to us viruses them mentality from not only the general
population but the officers as well. The police officers will no longer see themselves as apart of the
community but above the community they are apart of. Reactive policing does not address issues of
the community problems; it only creates a temporary superficial solution to greater problems.
Community policing works with the public to police as well as prevent crimes, which is not seen in
traditional policing. Although community policing seems idea, there should be a policing approach
that handles most crimes without bias as well as works with the

appear to have a legitimate and reasonable claim that they are affected by the Hesket Nuclear plant
and could be further affected in the future. The government of Ceeland claims to be a potential victim
of nuclear contamination from the HN plant and has sought to have the plant closed as a result. The
weakness of its claim rests upon the physical distance away from HN (500 km). If the threats to

  • 2. Beliefs And Attitudes Toward The Native Americans Though a lot of individuals saw the Native Americans as savages, I see them just as protectors and defenders of their land. From a Native American prospective, if you and your people were living peacefully since the beginning of time, and then all of a sudden, people you have never seen before invades your land; no one is undeniably going to take kindly to that! Especially when the invaders came to claim your land, brought illnesses and infections during the process, and then began to brutally murder you and your people because you look differently than them, and you wouldn t comply with their demands. I suppose depending on the Native Americans faith and how many of their people were killed by the invaders determined how savagely and deadly the Native Americans became. For example, John Smith, Mary Rowlandson, and Mary Jemison were all captured by a different tribe of Native Americans in different locations and time eras. So, of course, Smith s, Rowlandson s and Jemison s captivity narratives had extremely different views and attitudes toward the earlier occupants of the American soil, nature, and ethical values. First of the three that was captured was Mr. John Smith. While on an expedition in December of 1607, Captain John Smith and his men were attacked by a surge of Native Americans. The Native Americans, that was the Powhatan s Tribe, killed John Smith s men, but spared his life after Smith gave them a fascinating object which was a compass. After capturing him, ... Almost everything that happens to me both positive and negative happens because of something I did in the past. • 4. The Stereotypes Of Reality Television What once started as every day, regular people appearing on television shows have now morphed into celebrities and want to be celebrities competing for attention and doing almost anything to receive it on primetime television. The genre of television, which was once jumpstarted by the appeal of relatable people, who could be the viewers next door neighbors, being featured has since disappeared and been replaced by a monstrosity that does not accurately portray reality and often stereotypes people (Huff). One specific group that has been targeted by what reality television has morphed into is women. The new version of reality television is specifically adequate at encouraging gender culture, the set of behaviors or practices associated with masculinity and femininity (Huff). Reality television enforces gender roles and negatively impacts feminism in today s society. Reality television sexualizes women, portrays them as dependent on and less superior to men, and exemplifies them as dramatic, catty, and often only as homemakers. The portrayal and stereotyping of women on reality television is demoralizing and can be described as the contemporary backlash against feminism ( Reality TV ). These false and demeaning stereotypes are prevailed in all types of reality television shows, making their impact extensive, considering Americans spend one third of their spare time watching television and of that time sixty seven percent is spent watching reality television ( Reality ... I presume it is a collaboration of the two, for without sane cognitively the basis for irrationality would not be present, such is the case of King Lear. A man riddled with madness inside and out, yet through his state of frenzy and turmoil, Lear unveils unexpected guidance, validity, and enlightenment. It seems impossible for two opposing ideas to have subsequent logical soundness, but it is the goal for this essay to clearly defend the paradox that exist between madness and truth. According to two different articles, first by Jude Arnold s article, How do we judge King Lear, and second by Alexander Truskinovsky, Literary Psychiatric Observation and Diagnosis Through the Ages: King Lear Revisited, both authors find cause and reasoning for this underlining connection. King Lear, illustrates a paradox of how madness illuminates the truth by demonstrating how an insane character can find clarity in the misery of his misfortunes through his actions. Therefore, the author mirrors this reasoning by demonstrating the consequences of Lear s lunacy and foolish behavior, as an eye opener for elucidating the truth to him. Lear s deeds provide key insight into the subsequent misfortunes that introduce the paradox created by Shakespeare. Tell me, my daughters...Which of you shall we say doth love us most? • 14. The Stains of Watergate On June 17, 1972, security guard Frank Wills became a national hero. At twenty four years old, he was working the midnight shift at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters at the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C. He discovered tape over a basement door lock and thinking none of it, he removed the tape. On another inspection round, he found the lock taped over again and called the police. They locked the doors, turned off the elevators, and started checking darkened offices. At 2:30 a.m. on the 6th floor of the Watergate complex, the police discovered five men who were identified as the Plumbers Unit on orders by The Committee to Re elect the President (CREEP) to burglarize the DNC. The men, one who was an ex CIA agent, were convicted of conspiracy, burglary, and illegal wiretapping. However, what started as a third rate burglary unravelled into a broad network of political corruption and espionage within the Nixon administration that became known as Watergate. Before the summer of 1972, the term Watergate meant nothing more than a luxurious complex in Washington, D.C., but because five highly cunning men were somehow caught by an average, $80 per week security guard, it became associated with the greatest political scandal of the century and many more after that. The Watergate scandal proliferated public skepticism of and mistrust in the federal government, and an angry American public called for immediate response. The widespread public mistrust and ... The following information is about 3D printing and the processes that it takes to 3D print. There are many pro and cons to 3D printing that I will list below. In this paper I will also talk about what equipment it will take to make a 3D print, But first we will talk about the steps to make a 3D design. There are eight steps to print a 3D design. The first step is to start with making a virtual design of an object you want to create. The file that you create the image from is called a (CAD) or Computer Aided Design file. This software may provide some hints to the structural integrity you can expect in the finished product. It will also help you with specific data about certain materials to create virtual simulations of how the project will behave under certain conditions. The second step is called Conversion to STL. You will have to convert the CAD drawing, to the STL format. STL is an acronym for standard tessellation language. Which is a file format developed for 3D Systems in 1987 for use by its stereolithography apparatus (SLA) machines. Most 3D printers use STL files in addition to some proprietary file types such as, ZPR by Z corporation. Skinner s theory is referred to as the behaviorist theory, and Piaget s is cognitive theory. Both theories of learning are based on the development from two completely different perspectives while making an impact on educators around the world. Behaviorism is based off the belief that behavior is shaped through positive and negative reinforcement. Cognitivism is based on the concept that individuals process the information they receive rather than responding to stimuli. His theory is widely used today amongst teachers, animal trainers, counselors and parents around the world. Jean Piaget Cognitive Development Jean Piaget is another influential theorist who is known for his development of cognitive theory. This theory focuses on the development of an individuals thought processes along with how these thought processes influence the understanding and interaction with the world. Detailed observational studies of cognition in children, Piaget proposed that cognitive development occurs throughout four stages. The first stage is the sensorimotor stage: from birth to the age of two. This stage is where the child experiences his or her world through senses and movement. A child begins to understand that one action can cause another action. The second stage is the pre operational stage, from two to seven years old. At this stage, a child is aware of the separation from the environment around them. They are able to represent things with words and images while using intuitive rather than logical reasoning. The third stage is concrete operations: from the ages of seven to eleven. This is a period in which a child will begin to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Cultural Hegemony In Australia In comparison, knowledge and knowledge creation can be affected by cultural hegemony and ideologies which could call into question its value. Hegemony is the idea that people in power maintain power by influencing societies acceptance of their ideologies rather than using coercion (Rachar 2013, p. 238). In this time and age, this is performed by the control of media resources and Internet opinion (Kumar 2011, p.39). Media suppliers are highly experienced at emotive and persuasive content and reap the financial rewards of ratings (Edwards 2012, p. 69). In Australia, it is perhaps worth considering that a majority of our media, in particular, our newspapers are owned by companies such as Fairfax Media and News Corporation (Finkelstein 2012, p. 58). ... The adoption of newspaper propaganda heralded in the Nazi party and their systematic inundation of cultural hegemony, led to the acceptance of their ideologies and morals by the people of Germany, who appeared to not even question the knowledge that was being provided to be possibly false (Renders 2001, pp. 89 90). Comparing Dr. Seuss Short Story Green Eggs And Ham When thinking about the classic story Green Eggs and Ham by the brilliant Dr. Seuss, one can conclude that with persistence you can convince someone to try something they normally wouldn t try. Christina Tannous Supervisor: Mr. Omar Rachmani January 25, 2015 Everybody loves to have a donut every once in a while. It s a tasty desert that nobody can deny; children all the way to adults love it. I am personally a huge donut lover! When I usually walk through the mall I find different coffee shops selling square donuts, and not only round ones. While if the producers were to depend on producing round donuts, the donut box would not be completely filled at the corners, leaving empty spaces at the corner and between two consecutive donuts. The percentage increase in the amount of donut found per donut suggests as well that it is better for the producers to make square donuts, which in this case benefits the consumer as well. One thing that must be taken into consideration when finding the volume of a square donut is that the corners of this donut are not perfectly edged, which means that even though it fits into a rectangular box better than a round donut, there are still very minimal empty spaces that are not covered. Overall, my aim in this experiment is to prove how it will be efficient to produce a square donut and depend on it, because it will be a new trend that everyone wants to try, there will be more dough per donut, price change wouldn t be higher than that of a round donut since the diameter of the circle and the length of the side of the square donut are the ... Crime Statistics In Rural Communities Although many people seem to believe that rural communities and populations are without crime, this is a misconception that effects the way in which policing takes place. Crime statistics in local communities do not put emphasis on the happenings in rural communities. This leads to shortages in specialty crime units that could be useful in rural areas, though difficult to supply because of low usage. The resources, such as funding, that could be allocated to rural areas is then provided to other departments that benefit locals. This type of policing is reactive where police officers patrol communities looking for crimes that have or are occurring. This style of policing allows for all suspects to be treated the same regardless of criminogenic factors. This type of policing leads to higher arrests and can be used as a deterrent due to high numbers of people talking about the police catching their crimes. This type of policing is effective when focusing on tackling a specific crime that is causing great numbers of harm to societies as seen with initiatives on gun violence, drinking and driving or drug trafficking. This type of policing limits corruption, which can be seen in policing approaches where close community interactions can lead to bias an unfair treatment. They are ultimately (in the long term) able to detach and discontinue their stakeholding if they choose. Involuntary stakeholders have their stakeholding imposed and are unable to detach or withdraw of their own volition. The voluntary stakeholders identified in the case are: Forward Together (the trade union), Hesket Nuclear employees, the Ayland government, the board of HPC, local authorities, No Nuclear Now and other nuclear producers who use the reprocessing facility. Assuming that both of these statements are accurate then the Beeland government would appear to have a legitimate and reasonable claim that they are affected by the Hesket Nuclear plant and could be further affected in the future. The government of Ceeland claims to be a potential victim of nuclear contamination from the HN plant and has sought to have the plant closed as a result. The weakness of its claim rests upon the physical distance away from HN (500 km).
