My Annual Salary For Five Years
The hospital would allow me to have a deferred sabbatical leave and I would receive eighty percent of
my annual salary for five years. Daniel did not have a job offer because there was no available
position in the whole province of Quebec. We would have to wait for an opening while we were in
California. We were not too much concerned about the fact that he did not have a job opportunity in
Quebec because we were very busy with the wedding, selling our condo and moving all our
belongings to Los Angeles. We were just trying to do one thing at the time so we would not be
overwhelmed. It was now the time for us to enjoy our trip to our new home for the year. Our Los
Angeles condo was rather small. It contained a bedroom, a narrow bathroom, a kitchen and a shared
dining/living room. It was recently renovated and everything was in the white and grey tones. The
kitchen had a white and grey granite counter top with stainless steel appliances and all the cabinets
were painted in white. The floor was the only thing that brought character to the place as it was made
of stained dark oak wood. The only closet was so tiny that I tried pushing on the walls hoping it was
hiding a secret space. I already got rid of half of my clothes just before leaving and now I was about to
get rid of the other half. I could not believe how much we were paying for renting such a small
apartment. It was cozy but too pricy for its size. At least our front door led to a beautiful garden that
had a fountain

The Sports And Physical Activities Among Women
In today s day and age, males are known to be the strong, athletic, and independent type of people,
whereas females are known to be more of the obedient, quite, attractive side and the nurturers. Society
expects males and females to adopt, and fulfill these specific gender stereotypes and roles that have
been established over time. Whenever these gender norms are violated, it is common for labels to be
given out such as, strong females being called lesbians, or butch automatically assuming they are
manly with no intentions of liking makeup or enjoying to dress up. Traditional gender stereotypes and
discrimination has remained consistent over the past centuries; and have been confronted and
challenged by women and feminists all around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People are bombarded with gender stereotypes and discrimination from the moment they were born.
Once a newborn s sex is revealed, they are immediately dressed in in either pink or blue, given gifts of
trucks and cars or dolls depending on their gender, and referred to as strong or delicate. These types of
actions are only the first of many gender stereotypes an individual will encounter throughout their
lifetime. Females are held accountable for being weak or feminine, where as males are expected to
demonstrate certain behaviors and characteristics that are masculine.
Traditionally, the female population has always been expected to do the cooking and cleaning, wear
dresses, raise the children, maintain a perfect body and still remain pure. Women are known to be
weaker then men, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Beginning at an early age, female s
participation in athletics would have smaller numbers, with less intensity, and for shorter time spans
than males. The female athlete is not only expected to be masculine, but she may place her feminism
in jeopardy by others in society (Marsh, 1986). Females are expected to live up to these specific
gender roles that are held by both men and women in society. The expectations of feminism often
result in women being guided away from sweating, aggressiveness, lifting weights, or competing in
sports

The Power Of One Bryce Courtenay Analysis
FOLIO
Response to an Example of Communication
The Power of One Bryce Courtenay
Mock Interview with Bryce Courtenay
Today we have Bryce Courtenay, the famous author of The Power of One, an extraordinary book
about the life of an individual named Peekay and how the strength of a single person can change other
people s lives, hence the title. The novel depicts all that is needed is for one person to make a
difference, whether it is changing his or her life or simply one s outlook. Someone who can change
one life is just as important as someone who can change the lives of thousands. The novel also
exposes apartheid in South Africa, as well as how significant camouflage is for survival.
How would you classify your novel?
I would classify the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It all begins with Hoppie Groenewald as Peekay s life is heavily influenced by him. This is shown by
how (Hoppie) had given Peekay the power of one, one idea, one heart, one mind, one plan, one
determination, after he proved to him that small can defeat big if you first use your head and then your
heart. This motto heavily transforms Peekay s life and is what he constantly uses to keep his
composure in future boxing matches. Hence I thought the power of one was a fitting title as it later not
only becomes a feeling for Peekay but a philosophy which defines his life. The power of one is how
above all things the power to believe in yourself, often well beyond any latent ability you may have
previously demonstrated. In simpler terms with belief in yourself, you can do anything you set
yourself to do. With this philosophy, Peekay is on a journey to fulfil his dreams and become
welterweight champion of the

College Students Disadvantages
College students deal with stress, anxiety, and worrying all the time while they are taking classes on
campus or online. Most students have a moment during the semester that they are ready to have a
mental break down and that is a sign that they are getting burnt out of school. Students will stop
hanging out with friends, not leave their dorm room, or will start missing classes. College can burn
students out very easily from trying to fit in with their peers or trying to survive the classes they are
taking currently. Feeling stressed and burnout are two totally different things and every college student
will experience at least once if not more in their time in college. College can be very rewarding

The student needs to give their selves credit every once and awhile. Students do not realize how
important it is to find a group of friends that make you feel so comfortable around. There are over
thousands of students walking around campus currently and trying to find a group of friends can be
difficult if the student does not come out of their bubble to start talking to other students, that can lead
into making no friends. Meeting new people start in the students first few weeks of classes due to
everyone wanting to make new friends. Once those first few weeks are over, students start making
friend groups. It is hard when the student just focuses on themselves and academic rather than their
social life. Some students have a hard time because they focus so much on their own academic rather
than staying connected with their friends they made the first few weeks of classes. Not staying
connected can cause the student to get burnt out due to feeling like their friends do not want to hang
out. Finding the right group of friends to feel comfortable around can be difficult but it is easy to do.
When feeling burn out of classes, go out, hang out with the friends made that make you comfortable
and let some stress off. Maybe have the friends over to do homework with. Getting burnt out of
college is not enjoyable and can affect the student s life. When the student starts feeling overwhelmed
they need to take some time

The Importance Of Memory And Short-Term Memory
Roger goes to his friend s wedding where he is introduced to over 50 people. Roger s goal at this
wedding is to meet new people, and remember as many names as he can. In order for him to get their
names into long term memory, he first needs to get them past sensory, and short term memory. For
him to be able to do this, he needs to come up with some strategies to remember these names. He will
learn when it is necessary for him to rehearse the names over in his head, group some of them
together, or making connections to the names. By testing out these strategies, we will learn how
information moves from sensory memory to short term memory, and hopefully to long term memory.
All information makes it to our sensory memory, but it only lasts less than one second. When Roger
got to the wedding, there was probably tons of people in all different outfits, but he will probably
never remember any of it. If he were to meet a woman who he thinks is attractive, her outfit could
enter his short term memory so he can spot her out later during the party. If we pay attention to the
information in our sensory memory, in information is sent on to the second stage, short term memory
(Doyle Portillo Pastorino 271). The memory will last only about 20 30 seconds when it reaches the
short term memory. Because the short term memory can hold about seven plus or minus two items,
Roger could have payed close attention to the color of her eyes and hair too. Maybe when he leaves

Disadvantages Of Rohingya
Rohingya s are a Muslim ethnic minority group that has lived as an inhabitance in Mayanmar for
centuries, Today more than a million of them lives in the country, most in the western coastal state of
Rakhine . Where they make up around a third of the population .They speak their own language which
is not recognized by the state. It is one of the poorest states in the country with ghetto like camps and a
lack of basic service and opportunities due to ongoing violence persecution, hundreds and thousands
of Rohingya have fled to neighbouring Countries either land or boat over the course of many decades.
Muslim have lived in the area now known as Myanmar since as early as the 12th century, according to
many historians and Rohingya groups. The Arakan Rohingya national organization has said Rohingya
have been living in Arakan from time immemorial referring to the area known as Rakhine. After
independence the government viewed the migration that look place during British rule as illegal , and
it is on this basis that they refuse citizenship to the majority of Rohingya. This has led many Buddhists
to consider the Rohingya to be Bengali, rejecting the term Rohingya as a recent invention, created for
Political reasons. In 2010, when the military leaders released pro democracy leader of Mayanmar
Ayng San Suu Kyi from house arrest, Most of the political leaders thought Burma was beginning to
change for the better. When they demanded citizenship they also asked for the state that had been
promised to them. Ultimately the army crushed the resistance movement. Hundreds and thousands of
desperate Rohingya people are fleeing a vicious military purage in Myanmar. Troops have burned
scores of villages, beheading men raping women, and even killing children. In some place, Buddhist
militias and people have joined in the attacks against the Muslim majority Rohingya. The Myanmar
army and government call their assault a counterterrorist operation, but the U,N, has labeled it a text
book example of ethnic cleansing. The government of Myanmar officially recognizes 135 ethnic
group. This sounds like, to use a technical term a lot. It would thus seem that they tried to be pretty

Being only five feet nine inches hasn t stopped Frenchman, Antoine Griezmann, from being one of the
best football (soccer) players in the world. The person that will be discussed in this essay is Antoine
Griezmann. Born in Macon, France, Antoine Griezmann is a world renowned football player on
Atletico Madrid and the French National Team, who are both widely known for their skill and
competitiveness. Being rejected from many football clubs and perseverance is what shaped Griezmann
into the person he is today. To Griezmann touch and technique are prevailing mantras (Everything).
This essay will explain why Antoine Griezmann likes to use the Spanish style of play even though he
is French.
Antoine Griezmann has scored one hundred twenty one goals in his overall career as a football player
(Antoine). Being five feet nine and being light weighted prevented him from being on teams like Lyon
because they were looking for strong and tall players (Story). Basing his game on David Silva and
David Beckham, he focuses on lightness of touch that is both elegant and nifty (Everything). He has
mixed Spanish and French skills, but is in favor of a Spanish style more because he went to a Spanish
football academy as a teenager (Everything). He inspires many people around the world to mix up ...

up where they left off the year before, winning many games early in the year. Once the playoffs came
a thunderbolt hit as well. A thunderbolt is something that is beyond our control, a phenomenon that
one day strikes your team/business. The thunderbolt that hindered the Lakers was the injury bug. The
Lakers lost their Rookie of the Year James Worthy, the defensive anchor Bob McAdoo, and their lights
out shooter Norm Nixon. After losing three key role players, it is easy for a team to feel sympathetic in
the midst of a title run. But sympathy is the junk food of the soul, it contains nothing uplifting and
ultimately is a negative emotion. A winning team prepares itself for the adversity it is certain to
encounter along the way to success. Adversity should almost be welcomed because it forces the team
to remain uncomfortable, which is when the most growth is seen. It is the combination of hardiness

the team will last. The achievement of the old team shall be treated as an inspirational catalyst for the

The Odyssey By Homer, Annotated Bibliography Essay
he Odyssey, as written by Homer, intricately and excitingly weaves Colin Renfrew s Subsystem
Theories throughout the entire play. Many of the five subsystem theories can be seen and support
understanding of the novel. Of the five systems, trade/communication, social/ political hierarchy and
symbolic subsystems will be the focus of analysis in this paper. All of these subsystems come together
in The Odyssey to explain the characters and their lives, and also how they fit into the society which
they live in. To understand the growth and development of the characters, we must understand the
systems theories, many human actions have a meaning at several different levels, with undertones and
overtones... it is the complex interconnectedness of the subsystems which gives human culture its
unique potential for growth. As this paper will demonstrate within The Odyssey, trade and
communication, social and political hierarchy and lastly symbolic subsystems create adventure in
Odysseus s harrowing, yet exciting journey back to his kingdom and family. These specific
subsystems add depth and excitement because we see how each specific one impacts Odysseus s
journey back home. They help us understand who Odysseus is a man and sympathize with all that he
goes through. The communication subsystem helps explain how communication between people (and
gods) in different lands aid to the success of his return home. We are able to see from the social
subsystem how Odysseus and other men

Later Model Of God Research Paper
There are two absolutely different models of God during the biblical times. The one that we are
accustomed to because it was passed on to Judaism and Christianity and has been with us ever since is
the later God. The later God is found to be in the beginning of the sixth century of BCE to the end of
the biblical time frame. This God is considered to be simultaneously everywhere at once. He is
almighty and knowledgeable. He is very powerful and knows everything.
The earlier model of God is found in many texts such as Genesis and Exodus, Joshua, and etc.
Whereas the later model of God is not found in them. The earlier God in contrast to the later God goes
from place to place. He is not everywhere at once. The book gives an example of the story of Tower of
Babel that God states Let us go down and confuse their speech. This indicates that he is not present
there with the people. He is apparently up, perhaps in heaven (midrash), since he states he has to go
down. Another example the book provides entails the story of the Garden of Eden. It points out two
things. First, that God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The biblical scholars did not have a clear understanding of God and so they expressed themselves in
ways it is easy for us readers to comprehend. The beginning of the bible describes God in a
inferior/unsatisfactory way. A whole different way and a different model from God s being. But the
older model is not to be forgotten. Kugel says in some ways it is more sophisticated than the later
model that replaced it. I would respectfully disagree. I think the later model was more sophisticated.
From my understanding, God is everywhere at once. He is powerful and superior and knows what is
happening. I do not believe the earlier version where it states that he is only in one place and he can so
call walk from place to place. I got taught that he is not directly perceivable but is omnipresent. This is
because God causes everything that happens, to

no one had tried to measure how students felt and view Marijuana. This information could be used by
organizations such as NORML; it could help them decide whether or not pursuing a NORML chapter

Influence Of Paul Tillich On Religious Language
Critically assess the views of Paul Tillich on religious language.
(35 marks)
In this essay I am going to critically assess the views of Paul Tillich s views on religious language. I
will first start by critically assessing Paul Tillich s theory of religious language being presented as
symbols and his rejections of signs. I will then conclude and provide a short summary before moving
on to views for and against his ideas, before stating my own thoughts.
Paul Tillich was a German American theologian who believed that it is possible to speak meaningfully
about metaphysical concepts and from this he came up with the theory that religious language,
because it is symbolic in nature, has an overwhelming effect upon humans. Tillich argued ... Show

What Tillich mean s by this is that we don t just see the object as it is but we see beyond the object and
the meaning of the object. The second main function is that symbols participate in that to which they
point, this is through the seeing of the symbol which ultimately leads a person to seeing the
significance of the object. Tillich believed the third main function was that symbols open up levels of
reality that otherwise are closed to us. By this he means that it is a way of us explaining things that
would be ineffable otherwise, for example, explaining God. The final main function according to
Tillich is that symbols open up the levels and dimensions of the soul that correspond to those levels of
reality; this means that symbols open up our soul to the real world.
Tillich further argued that symbolic language operates in a similar way that a piece of music, art work
or poetry might. This is because they can heave a deep overwhelming effect upon us that we can t
explain or can only explain in a limited way and therefore, the person listening will not understand the
effect unless they have felt the same effect of the same piece of art. Also, symbols, like artwork can
open up new levels of reality for us and offer a new outlook on life that we would not previously of
had, without looking at the symbol/art.
Tillich maintained that religious language is a symbolic way of pointing towards the ultimate reality,
the vision of God which he

Made in India
Made in India
There are about 65 million scooter owners in India. Families are forced to pile onto scooters, or make
several trips to commute. Clearly, this is not an ideal form of transportation for most people. However,
the low income in India has prohibited individuals from purchasing a vehicle than can cost more than
$10,000. Is India s Tata Motors new four door, four seat, rear engine car for $2,500 a good alternative
plan for transportation in India?
In an article, No, No, No, Don t Follow Us, Thomas L. Friedman, who became the New York Times

domestic politics and foreign policy, and international economics, claims that ... Show more content

There is no question that there is a demand for cheap cars in India and it will be beneficial for their
economy to produce cars to meet that demand. Once the people s car is successful in India, India s
market will grow when they begin exporting to other fast growing markets where a relatively few
percent of people own cars. Soon India will not only be competing at the top of auto industry, but it
will be competing at the top with the innovative People s Car.
The People s Car will also provide reliable, cost efficient transportation to consumers. Tata is planning
to produce 250,000 People s Cars within the first year (Giridharadas). Considering that India s middle
class is almost 300 million, the potential for sales is enormous. Profits will be made, leading to
benefits for both India and Tata Motors. Even if the profit margins are small, the numbers of products
being sold will generate a sufficient amount to make it worthwhile for Tata Motors.
To take Friedman s point of view into consideration, we will consider the fact that cheaper cars will
increase traffic and pollution. Isn t this inevitable? In this fast paced world, everyone wants more. Let
s consider asking Americans to give up their cars for scooters or a bus ride everyday. How many of
them would allow this? Very few. I acknowledge a statement by Andrew Buncombe, a writer for The

How Does The Coffee Trade Affect The Economy
Coffee is certainly not a drink. It is a global commodity. The coffee industry hires many people around
the world for its growing, processing, and trading. The coffee trade is vital in economies in less
developed countries and in more developed countries. Every single way the coffee trade works in is
vital to economies; from farmers, to consumers. Therefore many people attempt to make the coffee
trade fairer to its people. From these people, many of their attempts do not suffice. The global coffee
trade affects everyone in it and even outside of it. The coffee trade created jobs for people to farm
coffee. These coffee farmers now have jobs that add on to the economy. This helps people especially
in less developed countries and their economies. These farmers are not being paid a lot, specifically if

farmers are paid better than they were. This is to make sure that farmers have money in their
economies and are able to school their children. Organizations such as FairTrade make sure that
farmers get paid more money than they used to. This is so they could afford drinking water, education,
food, and such. This is so they can afford to just live better. Although this seems like the perfect plan,
it does also fail sometimes. Organizations such as FairTrade cannot get everyone to buy into it.

Romantic Structure Of Women In Pygmalion, By Bernard Shaw
Pygmalion, by Bernard Shaw, uses and modifies common romantic structure to enhance the depth of
its heroine, Eliza Doolittle. Like a common con artist, however, Shaw switches the bait with a jarring
look at modern sexism and the women s dependency on a man, even if she is more qualified then he.
Shaw s withdrawal from the expected conclusion of a romantic marriage reshapes critics view of
Eliza, releasing her from her expected submissive social role as a wife, and redefining her as a strong
woman. Even with her new representation, however, she is still left in a sexist society, and continues
to rely on the bachelors of Wimpole Street for financial support and advice. She goes as far as she can,
under the present circumstances, to free herself from the patriarchal society that oppresses and
ridicules her very existence.
Eliza Doolittle is introduced in Act 1 of Pygmalion as The Flower Girl (Shaw 15), a name of very low
stature within the social hierarchy of early 20th century London, England. Her lowly title speaks
volumes about her state of living in an economy where the difference between the rich and the poor is
visible. She lacks a high source of income, nor does she come from a rich family. Her father is an
alcoholic, and her stepmother an abusive guardian. Her language, as can be expected from someone of
such an upbringing, is necessitous. So, in conventional romantic format, Shaw places her and
Professor Higgins under one bus shelter on a rainy day. Higgins is

My Fear Of Thunders And Thunder
My fear of thunders and lightning
It is truly fascinating how children experience and overcome many fears as they are growing up and
learning whether or not something is scary. Astraphobia, otherwise known as the Phobia (fear) of
anything related to lightning and thunder, is one of them. It undoubtedly is one of the most
complicated things I have ever had to defeat. I obviously was afraid of lightning, but I realized how
ridiculous and even pathetic it could be for me. Being among my friends, leaving them and start
looking for a place where I could feel more comfortable and safer (a sort of shelter). Sometimes
hiding underneath a bed, covering my ears and even crying because acting like that is not logical to
those who have no phobia, I felt like abandoned. All of that because of something that occurs within
the clouds, far away. Overcoming a phobia of something can magically increase your self confidence.
Sometimes, it is what others think about us that makes us to think about changing. Do not fear, my
father always said. Before your teenage years, it will be gone. And he was right. According to

The Makings of Frida Kahlo Essay
It is impossible to separate the life and work of this extraordinary person, her paintings are her
biography. This was announces in 1953 by a local critic after her one and only solo exhibition in
Mexico (www.fridakahlo.com). Frida Kahlo was not only a magnificent painter, but also a
representation of her birth country Mexico, through her meaningful paintings. While in the midst of
nobody but herself, Frida found great inspiration to paint during the early to mid 1900 s. Her passion
for painting came from her traffic accident as a teenager, which left her paralyzed due to fractures in
her spine and pelvis. Even before the traffic accident, she contracted polio at the age of six in the

This accident caused life threatening injuries including: fractures to her spine, collarbone and ribs, a

injuries occur, but a metal bar within the bus also pierced through her abdomen and uterus causing
many birth defects down the road. The recovery made by the strong spirited Frida Kahlo was
remarkable.
Frida attended a National Preparatory School in 1922 hoping to become a doctor. At the same school,
she saw Diego Rivera, painting The Creation ( Biography.com ). Frida was inspired and approached
Diego with her compliments. He told her to go home and return with a painting in one week for him to

close ( Frida Kahlo: Biography ). Their relationship progressed and then Frida got into her terrible bus

Painting was the artistic escape route for Kahlo s mind and body. To occupy her mind after the more

forty three paintings were self portraits. These paintings were purposely painted in a naïve way to

Summary Of Search And Destroy By Bruce Dawe
The poem Search and Destroy, by Bruce Dawe, is looking at the death and destruction of nature due to
human influence. The poem is directed at the current generation. It speaks sadly of a crumbling nature
as industry takes over, and humanity sucks whatever is still useful from the earth. Dawe, like many
others at the time, probably felt bitter about man taking nature for granted, and thought that he could
best express his anger and sadness through his writing. As I said before, the poem is intended for the
current generation who have permanently destroyed much of the environment, but it could also be
directed at man in general, or even the next generation to preserve and protect what s left of nature,
before it s too late; for our own sake as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1. Name a famous person that you feel was an excellent leader and why you felt that they were an
excellent leader. Be specific about their traits or behaviors to support your belief.
I believe Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford Motor Co. is an excellent leader. Reason being, though the
economic crash of 2008 added extreme pressure for most motor companies in the U.S. to file for
bankruptcy, Mulally did not want to file or take a government bailout. Instead, he took a risk, unlike
the other car companies. So, after earning $7.2 billion of profits within his 5 year plan which is far
more than GM or Chrysler. He showed great skills with unique elements in term of his leadership and
management style which helped form Ford s culture. He was the type of ... Show more content on

Epstein s dedication to the Beatles made him a great manager, because of the strategies he used. He
propelled the Beatles to prominence in the music world. Very different from today in the entertainment
world, most managers have training in business or law, but Epstein relied on his own strong instincts
to shape the group s image. From the start, Epstein changed the men s behavior on and off stage, got
them similar haircuts, and made them wear suits and neckties for every performance or interview
appearances. He even prohibited the men from wearing leather jackets and jeans. With his skills, he
was the man behind the scenes in which he set all things in place, so the only thing the Beatles had to
worry about was creating great music. Epstein showed promise in his commitments to the band. In
addition, he was a shrewd marketer. These elements hold importance and also show that without the
help of Epstein, the Beatles would have never reached their full potential. He never lost vision of what
the band could be, he maintained an everlasting trust with each member trust holds much substance
when being a manager, which Epstein maintained until his death.

good manager, or both. Again, be specific and provide details if

Horse Slaughter
Horse Slaughter
The topic of horse slaughter doesn t usually come up very often in everyday conversation. Horse
slaughter is more of an implicit subject, which your everyday person doesn t know much about.
Because it is highly controversial, it has gone through the cycle of being banded and then reinstated
twice in the last 5 years. With being involved in the horse industry my entire life, I have witnessed the
effects first hand. Some people see it as killing pets, animal cruelty, and morally wrong. However, I
see it as a source of income, a way to stop the starvation and abuse of horses, an export industry for
the United States, as well as a quality meal for in times of despair. The history of people eating horse
meat dates back to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the 1930 s low supply and high cost of pork and beef made horse meat rise in popularity.
Again during World War II, people were again in the same predicament. Inflation during the early
1970 s raised the cost of traditional meats; Time Magazine reported from Carlson s, a butcher shop in
Westbrook, CT, that they were selling over 6,000 pounds of horse meat a day. (Weil) In 2006, the
House of Representatives voted to end horse slaughter; the bill passed to make the killing and selling
American horses for human consumption an illegal practice in the United States.
Today in the US, people do not consume horse meat on a whole sale basis. But because many other
counties do, the exporting of horse meat is a huge industry. When the ban was in place, US horses
were being transported to Canada and Mexico to be slaughtered instead. From 2006 to 2010 the
increase in horses being exported to Canada and Mexico was 148 and 660 percent. They are loaded up
on trailers and shipped across the boarders, often times going days without food or water until they
reach their destination. The regulations, or lack thereof, are different than in the US. (Shesgreen)
Valley Meat Co. owner Rick De Los Santos brings up valid points in his interview with NBC News
last week. The majority of people, who are against slaughter, are getting caught up on the ick factor of
killing our pets . However, the process is the exact same for cows and pigs.

Network Technology Concepts Paper
Introduction This paper explores the understanding of network technology concepts and their relations
to establishing networks. In addition, this paper will cover the network architecture and the standards
that must be address prior, during and finalization of a network. Before we can build any type of
network, we must understand the network technology concepts and how to apply them to a network.
By establishing a foundation to build upon, require checks and balances in order to have a successful
network operational. There are many criterions that needs to be set forth and has to be completed in
establishing any type of network. Network Technology Concepts There are numerous network

The peer to peer network is a type of network that does not use dedicated network servers for logging
in users or providing secure access to network resources. This type of network lets clients share
resources and have access to whatever they are sharing (i.e. printers). This type of network would be
an excellent choice for small businesses with less than 10 employees because it enables them to share
resources from their computer. These resources can be files, printers, and Internet connections. This
type of network is a cost effective solution due to having less management or support from outside
experts. This type of network setup and usage is simple, but it is less secure and be vulnerable to
security breaches. The second network is the client server network, which does use a dedicated server.
It uses the dedicated server to centralize users and manage group accounts. In a client server network,
the server controls access to the resources to the other computers on the network and clients do not
talk directly to one another (West, Dean, Andrews, 2015). Users at a client or workstation log on to the
server using their own accounts and passwords. The users can only access resources that they were
given permission for. This type of network is used for larger businesses to meet complex and
challenging needs. This type of network has the potential to grow as the business grows. But, this can

The Importance Of Tenure In Education
Tenures refers to an approach which gives educators and teachers a lasting contract, viably
guaranteeing them an assurance of work ... forever. Teachers that have tenure can t be fired from their
duty unless for worthwhile motivation, for example, serious wrongdoing or inadequacy, and still, at
the end of the day ending the tenure can be to a great degree troublesome.
Tenure system picked up in the mid 20th century as a method for shielding teachers from being
terminated for the wrong reasons. In those days, political gathering in office or a racial or individual
inclination could get consummately great instructors sacked; tenure was made to guarantee that
educators didn t experience the ill effects of the whimsical activities of administrators.
Tenure is conceivably oppressive towards the poorest educated pupils in our community as tenured
educators with long service status (and in this manner the most experience) are probably going to
work in the least demanding schools, leaving schools in poor and denied territories to more youthful,
less experienced instructors.
100 years back before modern edge legislation gave rise to equal rights and employment protection
tenure had its place in the teaching system. It shielded helpless instructors from the political impulses
of their administrators and frame the activity of nepotism. Nowadays enactment gives sensible
assurances and tenure is never again required undoubtedly teaching is one of the main callings to give

Risk Quantification
7. How did NASA decide what is or is not an acceptable risk?
NASA identified and evaluated hazards through a formalized hazard reduction process as described in
the NASA Handbook, NHB5300.4. The process required that hazards be determined for probability
and credibility. In order to ensure that the standards within NHB5300.4 were adhered to, a Senior
Safety Review Board was established for overseeing the risk assessment process. The process allowed
for a certain amount of risk to be allowed as long as it was acceptable. To determine whether or not a
hazard was an acceptable risk, NASA used a Safety Classification System, which was a qualitative
system rather than a quantitative system. This was due to the high ... Show more content on

Instead, they maintained their current trajectory of making decisions qualitatively. NASA should have
improved their risk management processes as more data was gathered. Databases could have been
compiled with the information from previous flights that could have provided probabilistic risk
assessment and trends for future flights. If NASA and Thiokol had used quantitative data when
assessing the erosion and blow by incidents, they likely would have come to a different conclusion
when they decided to launch the Challenger shuttle.
10. Which risks should be elevated? To whom should they be elevated? Who should have the final say
in the response mechanism for a risk?
All risks should be elevated to whatever level of responsibility are related to the task or component the
risk is assigned to. For example, lower level risks should be assigned to lower level management and
the critical risks, as described in exhibit V, should be the responsibility of the program manager and
the NASA administrator. It s also important to note that for the risks involved in space travel, the
astronauts on the flight should also be aware of the assumed risks that are taking place during the
development of the space shuttle. One of the issues that NASA faced during the space shuttle
development is that risks weren t assigned to a specific level of authority. No one person had the

A Brief Note On The Alzheimer s Association
Overall, people who take care of dementia patients must handle health care responsibilities of the
person with dementia more often than caregivers of people who do not have dementia. Some of the
common tasks outlined by the Alzheimer s Association include assisting with daily activities around
the house, managing the medications, helping with activities of daily living such as getting dressed
and bathing, and providing support for the person with dementia as the disease progresses. Dementia
residents require significantly more assistance with activities of daily living and help around the house
in comparison to other older adults (Alzheimer s Association, 2016). Due to the time consuming
responsibilities and the increasing level of care required during this stage, this might be a time when
informal caregivers outsource some the responsibility to formal caregivers and facilities equipped for
the level of intensity required.
Another task caregivers face as the dementia progresses in the person they are taking care of is
communication. The Alzheimer s Association provides a pamphlet on the most prevalent behavior
changes and recommendations on how the informal caregiver should handle such changes. Common
changes in communication include a gradual loss of ability to find the right words and organize
thoughts and emotions effectively, a decline in the amount of verbal communication used, and going
back to one s first language (Alzheimer s Association, 2014b). As the disease

Compare Feudalism And Manorialism
The Feudal system was developed to bring a sense of security and economic stability to medieval
Europe as the same goes to the manor system. Although by some definitions they appear to be very
alike, but there are a lot more differentiations than most assume. Feudalism and manorialism would
have characterize most of the European Middle Age. Feudalism involves the relationship between
landlords and upper the classes. And as Manorialism is the relationship between serf and landlord.
When describing a (one) lord, it refers to manorialism. When describing an entire middle age society,
it refers to the term feudalism.

Feudalism is the dominant form of political organization in Medieval Europe. It was a hierarchical

land granted to each vassal was inhabited by serfs who worked the land for him, providing him with

eighth century. Vassals were protected by lords who by in definition served for higher authorities.
Practically, this system developed out of the fear and terror. Feudalism provided a political structure

Outsourcing can be a means to perform the core functions of an organization effectively by having
more time focused on the activities critical to the delivery of services to customer. The non core
activities are performed by the leaders in that area which will help to achieve better efficiencies.
Outsourcing can substantially lower costs, help to access better technology and use innovative ideas

The advantages of outsourcing are:

Essay on The Internet
When historians look back at the latter half of the twentieth century, they might well remember it less
as the time man walked on the moon and more as the time when the Internet was born. The
Advancement Research Projects Agency Network, known as the ARPANET, was developed in the
1960 s by the U.S. Department of Defense. This was the world s first operational informational
sharing network, and the predecessor of what we now call the Internet. Although the creation of the
Internet was primarily to allow the sharing of resources, its true popularity came in the ability to send

Why Was The Great Wall Worth Building Dbq
This is a quote from a soldier guarding the walls perspective. We fight south of the wall, we die north
of the wall (Document F). The Great wall was constructed to keep out the invaders from north of
China. The Great Wall of China was built in Asia, north of China. The chinese built it during the

was not worth building, because it caused many deaths, tore families apart, and was not well

One reason why the Great Wall was not worth building, is because it caused many deaths. In a chart it
says According to poetry and legends, tens of thousands of soldiers died from hunger, sickness, and
extreme heat or cold. No exact number of deaths are available. (Document E). This source shows that
many people died from defending the wall and cruel temperatures, hunger and sickness. For doing this

Hatching At The Beach Research Paper
Moreover, artificial lighting at the beach is a huge cause of losing population for sea turtles, because
sea turtles come to the sore to nest. Most female sea turtles depend on the dark and quiet beach to
reproduce successfully, but if there is too much light these female sea turtles will find a different
location. Having artificial lighting on the beach is endangering to mostly the hatchling and the eggs.
The articles state near shore lighting can cause sea turtle hatchlings to become disoriented when they
are born. Instead, they will wander inland where they often die of dehydration, predation, or even
from being run over on busy coastal streets. (Sea turtle conservancy). The hatching will follow the
light and will lose their direction to the ocean; also it would leave them more to danger because it
would be easier for their predator to spot them. It has also been said that ... host approximately 90% of

Miracles From the Latin word miraculum meaning object of wonder enters the word miracle. Many

Benefits Of Online Higher Education
The digital era has created a revolutionary structure to higher education using the internet. Technology
has changed the way students can interact with their instructors and classroom instruction through
portals that institutions have created on their specific websites for degree and non degree seeking
students. The benefits of online courses range from different avenues to create an educational
environment that provides more options to classroom instructions. Online higher education is an
exceptional alternative to traditional classroom learning due to the convenience, peer interaction, cost,
and self pacing aspects of the institution.
As military members travel throughout the world on a moment s notice, the convenience of online
higher education creates a way for a military member to continue their education without pausing their
educational development. According to Starr (2013), Active duty military service members are
increasing as constituents of online higher education environments in America (p. 3). The rise in
numbers is due to the convenience that online education provides for service member who can now do
their job that usually entails traveling, and keep up with their educational goals. According to
McPherson (2015), Internet technology provides the ability to stop, rewind, and play instructional
videos, something that traditional classrooms do not provide (p. 144). With videos and webinars

The Extinction, Endangerment, And Captivity Of Endangered...
Should we worry about the extinction, endangerment, and captivity of endangered species? That is the
pressing question that seems to bug all environmentalists and scientists are stressing over, how long
will it take for all of your animals to die out? And is it something we can stop or at least contain
meanwhile we are trying to find the long term solution for.
Can we prevent this from happening all together? Or is it far too late to save our species that are dying
out? We should worry about the extinction, endangerment and captivity of endangered species because
every animal is vital to their own ecosystems and keeps everything balanced.
Without balance, surely all of the ecosystems will collapse in on itself. What is a species? What
exactly is an endangered species? What is an extinct species? How have these species come to the
point of becoming endangered or extinct? What can we do to save the endangered species that are near
extinction? Can we actually do anything to save these species, or is it a lost cause? Why should I care?
Most people do not know the answer to many of those questions. As much attention as this subject
gets from environmental groups and agencies, it gets just as much ignoring by the general public.
Many people feel compelled to help or contribute; yet few seldom do carry out their intentions. This is
a very serious subject that needs to receive immediate and full attention from the general public. Only
they can truly make a difference. The concept

Analysis Of The Movie Cool Hand Luke
In the movie Cool Hand Luke, Luke Jackson (Paul Newman) is arrested for cutting the heads off the
town s parking meters. His punishment seems extreme, as he is sentenced to two years on a chain
gang at a Florida prison. Although Luke received several decorations in the war, including the silver
star, he never rises above a private in the Army. This suggests perhaps he has a resentment for those in
authority. Luke and three other prisoners are brought to the prison and made to line up in front of the
main prison guard, Captain (Strother Martin): You call the Captain Captain ...and you call the rest of
us Boss , you hear? (Rosenberg, 1967) Captain has coercive power, which is defined as the potential
to influence rooted in the ability to physically or psychologically punish. (Kathleen S. Verderber,
2001) The prison also exhibits a high power distance culture, which is a culture in which both high
and low power holders accept the unequal distribution of power. (Kathleen S. Verderber, 2001) Luke
is put in a bunkhouse with the rest of the prisoners and a strutting, cigar smoking guard named Carr
(Clifton James). Luke s contempt is immediately obvious to the others and he draws the attention of
Dragline (George Kennedy), the leader of the chain gang. One of the men tells Luke: You don t have a

  • 2. My Annual Salary For Five Years The hospital would allow me to have a deferred sabbatical leave and I would receive eighty percent of my annual salary for five years. Daniel did not have a job offer because there was no available position in the whole province of Quebec. We would have to wait for an opening while we were in California. We were not too much concerned about the fact that he did not have a job opportunity in Quebec because we were very busy with the wedding, selling our condo and moving all our belongings to Los Angeles. We were just trying to do one thing at the time so we would not be overwhelmed. It was now the time for us to enjoy our trip to our new home for the year. Our Los Angeles condo was rather small. It contained a bedroom, a narrow bathroom, a kitchen and a shared dining/living room. It was recently renovated and everything was in the white and grey tones. The kitchen had a white and grey granite counter top with stainless steel appliances and all the cabinets were painted in white. The floor was the only thing that brought character to the place as it was made of stained dark oak wood. The only closet was so tiny that I tried pushing on the walls hoping it was hiding a secret space. I already got rid of half of my clothes just before leaving and now I was about to get rid of the other half. I could not believe how much we were paying for renting such a small apartment. It was cozy but too pricy for its size. At least our front door led to a beautiful garden that had a fountain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Sports And Physical Activities Among Women In today s day and age, males are known to be the strong, athletic, and independent type of people, whereas females are known to be more of the obedient, quite, attractive side and the nurturers. Society expects males and females to adopt, and fulfill these specific gender stereotypes and roles that have been established over time. Whenever these gender norms are violated, it is common for labels to be given out such as, strong females being called lesbians, or butch automatically assuming they are manly with no intentions of liking makeup or enjoying to dress up. Traditional gender stereotypes and discrimination has remained consistent over the past centuries; and have been confronted and challenged by women and feminists all around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People are bombarded with gender stereotypes and discrimination from the moment they were born. Once a newborn s sex is revealed, they are immediately dressed in in either pink or blue, given gifts of trucks and cars or dolls depending on their gender, and referred to as strong or delicate. These types of actions are only the first of many gender stereotypes an individual will encounter throughout their lifetime. Females are held accountable for being weak or feminine, where as males are expected to demonstrate certain behaviors and characteristics that are masculine. Traditionally, the female population has always been expected to do the cooking and cleaning, wear dresses, raise the children, maintain a perfect body and still remain pure. Women are known to be weaker then men, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Beginning at an early age, female s participation in athletics would have smaller numbers, with less intensity, and for shorter time spans than males. The female athlete is not only expected to be masculine, but she may place her feminism in jeopardy by others in society (Marsh, 1986). Females are expected to live up to these specific gender roles that are held by both men and women in society. The expectations of feminism often result in women being guided away from sweating, aggressiveness, lifting weights, or competing in sports ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Power Of One Bryce Courtenay Analysis FOLIO Response to an Example of Communication The Power of One Bryce Courtenay Mock Interview with Bryce Courtenay Today we have Bryce Courtenay, the famous author of The Power of One, an extraordinary book about the life of an individual named Peekay and how the strength of a single person can change other people s lives, hence the title. The novel depicts all that is needed is for one person to make a difference, whether it is changing his or her life or simply one s outlook. Someone who can change one life is just as important as someone who can change the lives of thousands. The novel also exposes apartheid in South Africa, as well as how significant camouflage is for survival. How would you classify your novel? I would classify the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It all begins with Hoppie Groenewald as Peekay s life is heavily influenced by him. This is shown by how (Hoppie) had given Peekay the power of one, one idea, one heart, one mind, one plan, one determination, after he proved to him that small can defeat big if you first use your head and then your heart. This motto heavily transforms Peekay s life and is what he constantly uses to keep his composure in future boxing matches. Hence I thought the power of one was a fitting title as it later not only becomes a feeling for Peekay but a philosophy which defines his life. The power of one is how above all things the power to believe in yourself, often well beyond any latent ability you may have previously demonstrated. In simpler terms with belief in yourself, you can do anything you set yourself to do. With this philosophy, Peekay is on a journey to fulfil his dreams and become welterweight champion of the ... • 5. College Students Disadvantages College students deal with stress, anxiety, and worrying all the time while they are taking classes on campus or online. Most students have a moment during the semester that they are ready to have a mental break down and that is a sign that they are getting burnt out of school. Students will stop hanging out with friends, not leave their dorm room, or will start missing classes. College can burn students out very easily from trying to fit in with their peers or trying to survive the classes they are taking currently. Feeling stressed and burnout are two totally different things and every college student will experience at least once if not more in their time in college. College can be very rewarding experience for many people interested ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The student needs to give their selves credit every once and awhile. Students do not realize how important it is to find a group of friends that make you feel so comfortable around. There are over thousands of students walking around campus currently and trying to find a group of friends can be difficult if the student does not come out of their bubble to start talking to other students, that can lead into making no friends. Meeting new people start in the students first few weeks of classes due to everyone wanting to make new friends. Once those first few weeks are over, students start making friend groups. It is hard when the student just focuses on themselves and academic rather than their social life. Some students have a hard time because they focus so much on their own academic rather than staying connected with their friends they made the first few weeks of classes. Not staying connected can cause the student to get burnt out due to feeling like their friends do not want to hang out. Finding the right group of friends to feel comfortable around can be difficult but it is easy to do. When feeling burn out of classes, go out, hang out with the friends made that make you comfortable and let some stress off. Maybe have the friends over to do homework with. Getting burnt out of college is not enjoyable and can affect the student s life. When the student starts feeling overwhelmed they need to take some time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Importance Of Memory And Short-Term Memory Roger goes to his friend s wedding where he is introduced to over 50 people. Roger s goal at this wedding is to meet new people, and remember as many names as he can. In order for him to get their names into long term memory, he first needs to get them past sensory, and short term memory. For him to be able to do this, he needs to come up with some strategies to remember these names. He will learn when it is necessary for him to rehearse the names over in his head, group some of them together, or making connections to the names. By testing out these strategies, we will learn how information moves from sensory memory to short term memory, and hopefully to long term memory. All information makes it to our sensory memory, but it only lasts less than one second. When Roger got to the wedding, there was probably tons of people in all different outfits, but he will probably never remember any of it. If he were to meet a woman who he thinks is attractive, her outfit could enter his short term memory so he can spot her out later during the party. If we pay attention to the information in our sensory memory, in information is sent on to the second stage, short term memory (Doyle Portillo Pastorino 271). The memory will last only about 20 30 seconds when it reaches the short term memory. Because the short term memory can hold about seven plus or minus two items, Roger could have payed close attention to the color of her eyes and hair too. Maybe when he leaves the ... Disadvantages Of Rohingya Rohingya s are a Muslim ethnic minority group that has lived as an inhabitance in Mayanmar for centuries, Today more than a million of them lives in the country, most in the western coastal state of Rakhine . Where they make up around a third of the population .They speak their own language which is not recognized by the state. It is one of the poorest states in the country with ghetto like camps and a lack of basic service and opportunities due to ongoing violence persecution, hundreds and thousands of Rohingya have fled to neighbouring Countries either land or boat over the course of many decades. Muslim have lived in the area now known as Myanmar since as early as the 12th century, according to many historians and Rohingya groups. The Arakan Rohingya national organization has said Rohingya have been living in Arakan from time immemorial referring to the area known as Rakhine. After independence the government viewed the migration that look place during British rule as illegal , and it is on this basis that they refuse citizenship to the majority of Rohingya. This has led many Buddhists to consider the Rohingya to be Bengali, rejecting the term Rohingya as a recent invention, created for Political reasons. In 2010, when the military leaders released pro democracy leader of Mayanmar Ayng San Suu Kyi from house arrest, Most of the political leaders thought Burma was beginning to change for the better. When they demanded citizenship they also asked for the state that had been promised to them. Ultimately the army crushed the resistance movement. Hundreds and thousands of desperate Rohingya people are fleeing a vicious military purage in Myanmar. Troops have burned scores of villages, beheading men raping women, and even killing children. In some place, Buddhist militias and people have joined in the attacks against the Muslim majority Rohingya. The Myanmar army and government call their assault a counterterrorist operation, but the U,N, has labeled it a text book example of ethnic cleansing. The person that will be discussed in this essay is Antoine Griezmann. Born in Macon, France, Antoine Griezmann is a world renowned football player on Atletico Madrid and the French National Team, who are both widely known for their skill and competitiveness. Being rejected from many football clubs and perseverance is what shaped Griezmann into the person he is today. To Griezmann touch and technique are prevailing mantras (Everything). This essay will explain why Antoine Griezmann likes to use the Spanish style of play even though he is French. Antoine Griezmann has scored one hundred twenty one goals in his overall career as a football player (Antoine). Being five feet nine and being light weighted prevented him from being on teams like Lyon because they were looking for strong and tall players (Story). Basing his game on David Silva and David Beckham, he focuses on lightness of touch that is both elegant and nifty (Everything). • 9. Adversity In Workplace up where they left off the year before, winning many games early in the year. Once the playoffs came a thunderbolt hit as well. A thunderbolt is something that is beyond our control, a phenomenon that one day strikes your team/business. The thunderbolt that hindered the Lakers was the injury bug. The Lakers lost their Rookie of the Year James Worthy, the defensive anchor Bob McAdoo, and their lights out shooter Norm Nixon. After losing three key role players, it is easy for a team to feel sympathetic in the midst of a title run. But sympathy is the junk food of the soul, it contains nothing uplifting and ultimately is a negative emotion. A winning team prepares itself for the adversity it is certain to encounter along the way to success. Adversity should almost be welcomed because it forces the team to remain uncomfortable, which is when the most growth is seen. It is the combination of hardiness and ability to grasp context ... Smart teams realize that security is always imaginary, people come and go, and you must always be prepared. Management should always be arranging new talent into developing young leaders to replace veterans. This is the key to remaining relevant in both the business and sports world. Although the team may change, the spirit of the team will last. The achievement of the old team shall be treated as an inspirational catalyst for the future. Many of the five subsystem theories can be seen and support understanding of the novel. Of the five systems, trade/communication, social/ political hierarchy and symbolic subsystems will be the focus of analysis in this paper. All of these subsystems come together in The Odyssey to explain the characters and their lives, and also how they fit into the society which they live in. To understand the growth and development of the characters, we must understand the systems theories, many human actions have a meaning at several different levels, with undertones and overtones... it is the complex interconnectedness of the subsystems which gives human culture its unique potential for growth. As this paper will demonstrate within The Odyssey, trade and communication, social and political hierarchy and lastly symbolic subsystems create adventure in Odysseus s harrowing, yet exciting journey back to his kingdom and family. These specific subsystems add depth and excitement because we see how each specific one impacts Odysseus s journey back home. They help us understand who Odysseus is a man and sympathize with all that he goes through. The communication subsystem helps explain how communication between people (and gods) in different lands aid to the success of his return home. • 11. Later Model Of God Research Paper There are two absolutely different models of God during the biblical times. The one that we are accustomed to because it was passed on to Judaism and Christianity and has been with us ever since is the later God. The later God is found to be in the beginning of the sixth century of BCE to the end of the biblical time frame. This God is considered to be simultaneously everywhere at once. He is almighty and knowledgeable. He is very powerful and knows everything. The earlier model of God is found in many texts such as Genesis and Exodus, Joshua, and etc. Whereas the later model of God is not found in them. The earlier God in contrast to the later God goes from place to place. He is not everywhere at once. The book gives an example of the story of Tower of Babel that God states Let us go down and confuse their speech. This indicates that he is not present there with the people. He is apparently up, perhaps in heaven (midrash), since he states he has to go down. Another example the book provides entails the story of the Garden of Eden. It points out two things. Kugel says in some ways it is more sophisticated than the later model that replaced it. I would respectfully disagree. I think the later model was more sophisticated. • 13. Influence Of Paul Tillich On Religious Language Critically assess the views of Paul Tillich on religious language. (35 marks) In this essay I am going to critically assess the views of Paul Tillich s views on religious language. I will first start by critically assessing Paul Tillich s theory of religious language being presented as symbols and his rejections of signs. I will then conclude and provide a short summary before moving on to views for and against his ideas, before stating my own thoughts. Paul Tillich was a German American theologian who believed that it is possible to speak meaningfully about metaphysical concepts and from this he came up with the theory that religious language, because it is symbolic in nature, has an overwhelming effect upon humans. Tillich argued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What Tillich mean s by this is that we don t just see the object as it is but we see beyond the object and the meaning of the object. The second main function is that symbols participate in that to which they point, this is through the seeing of the symbol which ultimately leads a person to seeing the significance of the object. Tillich believed the third main function was that symbols open up levels of reality that otherwise are closed to us. By this he means that it is a way of us explaining things that would be ineffable otherwise, for example, explaining God. The final main function according to Tillich is that symbols open up the levels and dimensions of the soul that correspond to those levels of reality; this means that symbols open up our soul to the real world. Tillich further argued that symbolic language operates in a similar way that a piece of music, art work or poetry might. This is because they can heave a deep overwhelming effect upon us that we can t explain or can only explain in a limited way and therefore, the person listening will not understand the effect unless they have felt the same effect of the same piece of art. Also, symbols, like artwork can open up new levels of reality for us and offer a new outlook on life that we would not previously of had, without looking at the symbol/art. Tillich maintained that religious language is a symbolic way of pointing towards the ultimate reality, the vision of God which he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Romantic Structure Of Women In Pygmalion, By Bernard Shaw Pygmalion, by Bernard Shaw, uses and modifies common romantic structure to enhance the depth of its heroine, Eliza Doolittle. Like a common con artist, however, Shaw switches the bait with a jarring look at modern sexism and the women s dependency on a man, even if she is more qualified then he. Shaw s withdrawal from the expected conclusion of a romantic marriage reshapes critics view of Eliza, releasing her from her expected submissive social role as a wife, and redefining her as a strong woman. Even with her new representation, however, she is still left in a sexist society, and continues to rely on the bachelors of Wimpole Street for financial support and advice. She goes as far as she can, under the present circumstances, to free herself from the patriarchal society that oppresses and ridicules her very existence. Eliza Doolittle is introduced in Act 1 of Pygmalion as The Flower Girl (Shaw 15), a name of very low stature within the social hierarchy of early 20th century London, England. Her lowly title speaks volumes about her state of living in an economy where the difference between the rich and the poor is visible. She lacks a high source of income, nor does she come from a rich family. Her father is an alcoholic, and her stepmother an abusive guardian. First introduced in the mid to late 1990 s, Weblogs, also referred to as blogs, are Internet webpages where entries are made similar to a journal or a diary. These personal views or updates to a particular subject are presented in reverse sequential order. Blogs can cover an array of topics including food, politics or local news, but most function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images and links to other blogs, web pages and other media related to its topic. Most blogs are primarily textual and include photographs, videos or audio. • 37. The Extinction, Endangerment, And Captivity Of Endangered... Should we worry about the extinction, endangerment, and captivity of endangered species? That is the pressing question that seems to bug all environmentalists and scientists are stressing over, how long will it take for all of your animals to die out? And is it something we can stop or at least contain meanwhile we are trying to find the long term solution for. Can we prevent this from happening all together? Or is it far too late to save our species that are dying out? We should worry about the extinction, endangerment and captivity of endangered species because every animal is vital to their own ecosystems and keeps everything balanced. Without balance, surely all of the ecosystems will collapse in on itself. What is a species? What exactly is an endangered species? What is an extinct species? How have these species come to the point of becoming endangered or extinct? What can we do to save the endangered species that are near extinction? Can we actually do anything to save these species, or is it a lost cause? Why should I care? Most people do not know the answer to many of those questions. As much attention as this subject gets from environmental groups and agencies, it gets just as much ignoring by the general public. • 38. Analysis Of The Movie Cool Hand Luke In the movie Cool Hand Luke, Luke Jackson (Paul Newman) is arrested for cutting the heads off the town s parking meters. His punishment seems extreme, as he is sentenced to two years on a chain gang at a Florida prison. Although Luke received several decorations in the war, including the silver star, he never rises above a private in the Army. This suggests perhaps he has a resentment for those in authority. Luke and three other prisoners are brought to the prison and made to line up in front of the main prison guard, Captain (Strother Martin): You call the Captain Captain ...and you call the rest of us Boss , you hear? (Rosenberg, 1967) Captain has coercive power, which is defined as the potential to influence rooted in the ability to physically or psychologically punish. (Kathleen S. Verderber, 2001) The prison also exhibits a high power distance culture, which is a culture in which both high and low power holders accept the unequal distribution of power. (Kathleen S. Verderber, 2001) Luke is put in a bunkhouse with the rest of the prisoners and a strutting, cigar smoking guard named Carr (Clifton James). Luke s contempt is immediately obvious to the others and he draws the attention of Dragline (George Kennedy), the leader of the chain gang. One of the men tells Luke: You don t have a name here until Dragline gives you one. (Rosenberg, 1967) When Luke tells one of the prisoners his name, Dragline replies: Maybe we ought to call it No Ears. You don t listen well, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
