Erruption In Pompeii
Introduction:
A significant event that occurred in Ancient Rome is the eruption of Mt Vesuvius which destroyed
the towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum, killing around 2000 people. The Mt Vesuvius eruption
was a Plinian eruption sending volcanic ash hurdling towards the sky sending out deadly gases
which was the main causes of the death of the people of Pompeii and Herculaneum. It left the
towns covered and hidden for many years until archaeologist discovered these sites. This was
significant because it opened a great deal of insight into how the Romans went about their day,
how they decorated their homes, what materials they used to decorate their homes, building
structures and much more information that proved to be very helpful in our understanding of how
Romans lived and how they went about their everyday lives. Now came the dust, though still
thinly. I look back: a dense cloud looms behind us, following us like a flood poured across the land.
Background of the Eruption: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people of Pompeii were suddenly rocked by a Plinan Eruption from Mt. Vesuvius. The volcano
spewed plumes of ash up to 45 kilo metres into the stratosphere. This caused many problems for
the unsuspecting people in Pompeii. The plumes of ash were not the source of destruction for
the people of Pompeii but also lahars (mud flows) and pyroclastic flows. With the pyroclastic
flow made up of hot ash, pumice, rock fragments and deadly gases, moving across the ground it
was impossible for anyone to survive even if they hadn t already died from the pumice shooting
out of the volcano s mouth. Some of the cloud was white, in other parts there were dark patches of

Discrimination, Prejudice And Stereotypes
3) Choose 3 characters from the movie and describe how discrimination, prejudice, or stereotyping
affected or defined their character.
Stereotyping: Tito (Gabriel Chavarria), a Hispanic student, displays an act of stereotyping Jamal,
a black student, by drawing a picture of Jamal as having big, fat lips. The stereotype being that all
black men have big fat lips. Jamal was typically the vocal student who instigated students into fights
but quickly became the laughing stock of the classroom. He was emotion and trying to hold back
the emotions from others seeing. The Hispanic student s picture was significant in the manner that
it showed his views and stereotypes of black people. This scenario affected both students, because

Gruwell s students several times throughout the movie. The one which comes to mind and plays
a more significant part in the transformation of characters is when Ms. Campbell and Ms.
Gruwell are looking through books to be used in class. Ms. Gruwell suggests Anne Frank due to
student interest in the Holocaust, but Ms. Campbell quickly denies the request on spot. She talks
badly about the student grades and automatically assumes they are unable to read the words in
the book or will even take care of the book. She does not want to use quality school resources on
Ms. Gruwell s students due to already deeming them as failures. She assumes if the students get
books, they will be destroyed. Instead they get destroyed condensed books because everyone
knows they can t read. She then explained that she had the authority to deny any request without
going for higher approval. This moment make a clear statement of her negative view towards the
students and showed exactly how they are not being provided with equal quality education. It gives
a closer look into her character s discriminatory outlook on colored students within the school. She
only sees them as violent, criminals, and

Discuss the Interaction Between Cognition and Physiology...
Discuss the interaction between cognition and physiology in terms of behavior
Introduction: cognition, physiology, relation Amnesia: retrograde, anterograde Memory: multi
store, division, *amnesic patients, ways of distinguishing types of memory (KC, spiers maguire and
burgess, vargha and khadem) HM Clive Wearing Conclusion: cognition, physiology
Cognition, as defined by Neisser, is all the processes by which the brain transforms, reduces,
elaborates, stores, retrieves, and uses information. Physiology refers to the structures of the human
body and brain. The relationship between cognition and physiology is bi directional, meaning that
cognition can effect physiology and vice versa. Every cognitive aspect ... Show more content on

These two stores and further divided. Explicit memory contains episodic (events) and semantic
(facts). implicit contains procedural (skills) and emotional (emotions). For amnesic patients, the
problem lies mostly with explicit memory.
There are three main ways to study the differences between the types of memories. The first is the
study of anterograde amnesic patients. For example, the study done by Spiers, Maguire and
Burgess. They studied 147 cases of anterograde amnesia with damage to the hippocampus.
psychological testing proved that all cases had impaired episodic memory and limitedly impaired
semantic. This shows that the hippocampus is responsible for episodic memory. To make the
conclusion more reliable, another study was done by Vargha and Khadem, with 3 anterograde
amnesic patients, and found the same results, except that the semantic memory was completely
intact. They found that semantic memory was localized to the cortices underlying the hippocampus.
Another way of studying the differences between the two is by studying retrograde amnesic
patients. a retrograde amnesic patient known as KC was studied to find that the damage to his
hippocampus impaired his episodic memory, but his semantic memory was still intact. The study of
amnesic patients is done in psychology to study the relations between the physiology and cognition,
because the damage to the brain can be seen easily,

Animal Welfare Issues
Animal welfare issues exist everywhere in the world, some places more so than others. In
saying that, over the years thanks to organizations like PETA, SSCS, SAFE and IDA and so
many more amazing groups have led society to become more aware of the problems that exist
when it comes to issues relating to the proper care of animals. One very important example of
animal cruelty is animals that are brutally skinned for their fur, whether it s dogs in China or
seals being culled for their fur, it s inhumane. This is mostly because of the lack of compassion
the fashion industry has when it comes to fur. No matter how you look at it, there is no way to
make a fur coat in a humane way. Whether fur comes from animal farms or from wild animals, it
is simply a barbaric action. Animals killed for their fur in animal farms are normally electrocuted
by having an electrical cable attached to their mouths and another cable inserted into their rectum.
Wild animals that are caught for their fur are usually trapped in a steel leghold trap, a device that
has been proven to be completely inhumane and has, in fact, been banned in 65 countries, but is still
allowed in the United States.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Quite often these animals that are trapped in the wild in these terrible traps, don t die right away
and endure prolonged agony by dehyrdation, starvation or become mauled by other animals. If
by chance, the trapped animals are still alive when trappers find them, they are killed in a
number of ways, like; drowning, a hit in the head, or a blow to the chest to crush their heart.
When it comes to the law in regards to trapping for fur, there are really no laws to regulate how an
animal can be killed so a humane death for these innocent animals is

Essay History of Western Art Comparison 1
A Progression of Idealistic Perfection in Sculpture: Khafre Enthroned to Kritios Boy Early
Egyptian art from the Old Kingdom, ca. 2575 2134 BCE, demonstrates uniform structure.
Egyptian artists and sculptors adhered to a system of strict rules known as canon to create this
consistency. The Egyptian canon suggested perfection to be a rigid, ageless idealization of
reality. Roughly 1,500 years later, a progressive canon emerged in Greek art reflecting new ideals
of perfection. Greek art beginning in the Early Classical Period, ca. 480 450 BCE, digressed from
the acceptance of formula (influenced by Egyptian canon) to reflect greater naturalism, an
adherence to close observation of reality. Greek perfection was achieved through rational... Show

The marble sculpture of Kritios Boy from Greece, ca. 480 BCE marks an influential point of
stylistic evolution. In contrast to Khafre Enthroned, The Kritios Boy was created for a public
audience. The Kritios Boy s standing pose represents a freedom in his figure that divorces the
solidity of the stiffly seated Khafre. Rather than emanating timelessness, this naturalistic sculpture
seems to capture a specific moment in time. Mirroring a normal human stance of balance and
weight shift onto one leg, his stature is contrapposto. Furthermore, the Kritios Boy s physical
composition maintains a smooth contour to his natural musculature. His head is slightly turned
with hair that seems to fall effortlessly in place. He is completely naked, wearing only a relaxed
expression on his face. With no indication of identity, the Kritios Boy exemplifies naturalism in
Greek drive to order to analyze form into constituent parts and represent the specific in light of the
generic. The figure sculptures of Khafre Enthroned and Kritios Boy exhibit a start and end point in
an evolution of artistic technique. Although a single male figure is the subject of both works,
canon clearly develops from Khafre Enthroned to Kritios Boy. Both works express a desire for
perfection with the use of contrasting ideals. Egyptian artists prized completeness and timeless to
achieve a god like representation. Later, artistic form advances as Greeks sought naturalism and

Luke Aikins Research Paper
With more than 16,000 jumps to his credit, professional skydiver Luke Aikins has performed
many heart stopping stunts, but his latest feat tops them all. On July 30, 2016, the 42 year old
daredevil became the first man in the world to leap off a plane from an altitude of 25,000 feet
without a wingsuit or parachute! Instead, he relied on a net that measured 100 by 100 feet, or less
than one third the size of a football field, to break his fall and help him land safely.
The stunt, aptly named Heaven Sent, was so dangerous that the United States Parachute Association
(USPA) initially denied the skydiver s request to jump without a parachute. However, the
association had a change of heart just minutes before the event, which meant that Akins had no
backup during the historic leap. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On Saturday evening, cheered on by family and friends that had gathered at California s Simi
Valley, Aikins boarded the Cessna airplane that would fly him to the desired altitude. Shortly after,
they, along with millions of others watching on television, held their breath as Aikins plummeted
toward the ground, face first, with his arms outstretched. At about 10,000 feet, the skydiver handed
his oxygen mask to one of two team members who were doing the jump as well. They, of course,

Japanese Internment Camps During World War II
The decision to relocate Japanese Americans to internment camps during World War II was an
impurity in the United States reputation for maintaining democracy and individual rights. When
the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor during World War II, great hysteria spread through the
United States, urging President Roosevelt to pass the now infamous Executive Order 9066,
ordering the removal of all people of Japanese American descent. More than 100,000 people
were displaced and their lives were changed forever (Tremayne). The tragedies that these people
suffered bring into question the reasoning behind the order and its constitutionality. Challenges
were made to the constitutionality of the order in cases such as Korematsu vs. the United States
that were ruled down. With hindsight bias, the immorality of Executive Order 9066 seems
obvious, yet many at the time strongly felt that the right decision had taken place ( Personal
Justice Denied ). The circumstances of war made the lines of morality blurry, distorting the
decisions made. The Japanese American Relocation was an act of racism more than an act of
protection, and was motivated primarily by a fear of foreign people.Roosevelt states in Executive
Order 9066 that the war requires every possible protection against espionage and against sabotage
to national defense material (Executive Order 9066). He was pressured to sign this order by others
because of the paranoia that resulted from Pearl Harbor and the entry of the

Essay On Encephalitis
Encephalitis, also known as inflammation of the brain is a rare condition that causes an irritation,
swelling of the brain and in most cases nerve damage. Viral and bacterial encephalitis can easily be
mistaken as the flu with shocking long term effects. In many cases, encephalitis does not last long
and has a mild effect. However, in some cases encephalitiscan be life threatening. About 10,000 to
20,000 cases of encephalitis are reported each year in the United States (Ehrlich, 2014). There are
two types of encephalitis that can infect the brain cells known as primary and secondary
encephalitis. Primary encephalitis is when the viruses attack the brain through the blood stream and
into the nerve cells; it is then grouped together and multiplies. After multiplying, it is spread
throughout the brain. Secondary encephalitis is when the virusinfects a person by first infecting the
other tissues in the body and then attacks the brain. Viruses that are transmitted from other tissues
usually cause focal infection, meaning they produce extensive damage in only a small area of the
brain (Simon, 2014). Infants, children, and older adults are more likely to have severe cases because

person they took home with them is not the same as the one they brought to hospital, with changes

cases, swelling of the brain can lead to permanent brain damage and lasting complications like
learning disabilities, speech problems, memory loss, or lack of muscle control. Many people who
get encephalitis often change from this condition and supportive care such as therapy for physical
and speech may be needed in these

Literature review:
Through searching different books, articles and documentaries on internet and media resources it
can be deduced that National Identity is a subject that is mostly dealt indirectly by Media. A huge
amount of literature and media projects are available all around the world on the subject but it
addresses only specific regions and characteristics of national identity. For example rather than
defining what National Identity itself is, most of the work is done about National language,
National Heroes and National Heritage etc. National identity is a vast subject which directly or
indirectly touches huge number of variegated subjects.
National Television plays the major role in developing the sense of National Identity. PTV as
national service channel in Pakistan has produced a large number of programmes in various formats
which directly and indirectly address the importance of National identity. Patriotic songs presented
by PTV focus various emblems of National identity eg. Qauid e Azam, Tehreek e Insaaf, Pakistani
Flag, Landmarks and Cities etc.

Topher is introduced to the audience as Shley s boyfriend. However, once Topher finally gets

When Tanner tries to elicit an explanation from Topher over his uncharacteristic behavior, Topher
says that he s experimenting and needs to get it out of his system (G.B.F. 2013). He then
proceeds to make out with Tanner, even touching his crotch and legs in the process. Tanner has
the physically remove himself from the car in order to get Topher to stop. Later in the movie,
Topher corners Brent in the supply closet and forces himself on Brent. Similarly, Topher does not
care the Brent has never expressed a sexual interest in him, he simply forces himself onto the
only two gay men he knows so that he can fulfill some sort of fantasy or urge he has. Topher is
obviously not straight, however, it is unclear whether he is gay, bisexual, fluid, or pansexual. Either
way, Topher is a member of the LGBTcommunity and his actions portray them in a horrible light.
Topher sexually assaults two men in this movie without their consent, making it seem like closeted
members of the LGBT community are only horny and violent. For a movie that is supposed to
display the LGBT community is a positive light, G.B.F. does a horrible job portraying Topher as a
questioning teenager trying to figure out his sexuality. The producers could have used Topher to
show the side of the LGBT community that is in the process of questioning their sexuality and
experimenting, but they instead choose to only show Topher as a horny and violent

Community Life And Civic Engagement
Community life and civic engagement are a huge responsibility of citizens, although it is not
required by citizens, it is an important aspect of a proper citizen. Residents of a community have
the constant responsibility of making the society around them reflect an advance in the eminence
of lives in the community. The simple duty of any citizen is to give to the common good. Civic
responsibilities are achieved by volunteering and choice. Volunteering, involving in positive
organizations and aids, or tutoring people in certain subjects, are all ways that people can
subsidize to the good of the community. Small deeds that seem to prosper someone in some way
or the other is still a way of helping. To learn something from the assistance that one does to
another, the deed does not have to be big, as long as the person providing the assistance is doing it
with a good heartthey can always acknowledge a lesson. Compassion and love is necessary in
helping others. When people have the opportunity to help others they may not always get a gift in
return, sometimes they may not even get a reply back. This is when the person has to realize that
the purpose of helping someone is not for the thank you or the gift, but is for the satisfaction of
their soul, betterment of the other, and the ability to learn a lesson. Assisting people needs to be
done in a thoughtful and effective way for it to create a lasting impact on his/her self and on
society itself.

The Great Gatsby Analysis Essay
Diction: In the Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald utilizes a heavily elegant and sometimes superfluous
diction which reflects the high class society that the reader is introduced to within the novel. The
speaker Nick Carraway talks directly to the reader. The diction is extensively formal throughout the
novel using high blown language the borders on being bombastic. An example of this formal
language is seen when Nick states, The truth was that Jay Gatsby, of West Egg, Long Island, sprang
from his Platonic conception of himself. He was a son of GodВ—a phrase which, if it means
anything, means just thatВ—and he must be about His Father s business, the service of a vast,

The tone is hopeful and dignified. Much detail is used and even some ironic detail such as
Gatsby being gorgeous. Even though one would not normally describe a man with such a word it
fits perfectly in this sentence. The language is formal and it reveals Nicks positive view on life
and on Gatsby. The syntax in this passage is made up of strung together sentences and clauses. All
of the sentences within this passage are complex or compound complex. These long and airy
sentences emphasize the tone of upper class people speaking as well as the emphasis on a dream.
The sentences are extensively poetic and carefully thought out giving it a nonchalant and superior
tone.
Passage 2: I didn t call to him, for he gave a sudden intimation that he was content to be alone he

I looked once more for Gatsby he had vanished, and I was alone again in the unquiet darkness. (pg

passage is reflective of Gatsby s true nature. It is one of insuperiority and one of a dreamer who

The Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh Of Iran Essay
In mid 1953, democratic leader Mohammad Mossadegh of Iran was overthrown in favor of
electing General Fazlollah Zahedi the new Iranian Prime Minister. This was caused by a coup led
by the British Secret Intelligence Service and the US Central Intelligence Agency, though plans
for the coup began in Britain about 2 years before the US became involved. Britain, since the
early 18th century, had been very involved in Iranian economic affairs, due to Iranian leader Nasir
al Din Shah selling large chunks of Iranian industry to foreign investors in order to fund his well
known over exuberance. Of his foreign investors, Britain bought into Iranheavily, purchasing rights
to run a telegraph through Iran to India, exclusive rights to tobacco in Iran, and exclusive rights
to industry, farmland, resources, roads, banks, and currency in Iran, though the latter would later
be revoked (31). This decision to subsequently, over time, led to control over the nation s most
valuable assets to be given to foreigners, rather than the Iranian people (32). After Nasir al Din
Shah s death in 1901, his son Muzzaffar sold the rights to Iranian oil to Britain for 60 years. This
decision led to Iranian riots because this would take oil out of Iranian control and Iranian economy
would suffer as a result. To combat this, in 1906, Iran formed an Iranian parliament, known as the
Majlis, to defend the Iranian people and keep Iran out of poverty. Feeling threatened, Britain

What is the American Dream? Is it fame? Is it fortune? President Franklin
Roosevelt explained the American Dream as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from
want, and freedom from fear. (AAC) I think that the
American Dream is different for everyone. It is simply the urge for a better life.
The American Dream is still valid but is totally different from what it used to be.
For the early immigrants the American Dream was a better life not with material goods, but by
freedom. Freedom to worship whoever they want.
Freedom to say whatever they want without fear of being arrested or shot. (AAC)

Operational risk management for small enterprises
Is a tool used by management to make smart decisions about how to mitigate risks. The goal is to
manage risk so that there is minimal impact on the continuity of the business. Operational risk
management involves five steps which includes; identifying hazards, assessing the hazards, making
risk decisions, implementing controls and supervising watching for change to occur. There are also
three levels associated with risk management to include in depth, deliberate and time critical.
Operational Risk Management is worth of doctoral level study because it is the means through
which risks that would negatively affect business operations are identified and informed judgment
to mitigate the identified risks are made. Hence it decreases or eliminates operational loss in
businesses, decreases exposure to future risks by ensuring that management has good continuity
plans and detects illegal actions. It is therefore essential at a doctorial level to have well informed
knowledge about operational risk management to better suit in the work environment.

Virtual Child Reflection
My virtual child has honestly been super eye opening to me. It has thrown different real life
situations at me in which I had to respond in a specific way, showing me the difficulty of making
a decision on certain situations. I noticed that every decision that I make will affect my child in
their future reactions, ways that they interact with friends and how they act. Reese has put a
significant amount of time into building friendships and relationships with his peers. I
reinforced the importance of friendships and I believe that friendships insure a good emotional
well being. Friendships are people to fall back on in times of need. If your teens have good
support systems, they will do better academically. WETA (2017) states that Talking and
listening play major roles in children s school success. I believe that Reece adjusted to typical
adolescent issues very well. He only had one incident of getting in trouble, in which Reese and
his friends got caught sneaking into the school to play basketball. I stressed the importance of
following rules and how rules are put in place for a reason. Reese never got into drugs or alcohol
but I did have a problem in which pornography was downloaded onto our home computer. I
believe that this is normal for developing teenage boys to become curious and explore. I made
sure he knew that I believed that porn was demeaning to women and that it gives people and

It has been found that not having a sufficient human resource department can have an adverse
effect on the whole organization (Nura Osman, 2013). Using programs such as the pre
employment personality test prior to hiring future employees is supposed to help reduce
employee turnover and find better qualified employees based upon the position they are hiring
for. This strategic approach to testing and hiring was designed to retain employees and reduce
cost associated with replacement. According to Dias the cost of replacing a low paid employee
can be very costly ranging close to $8,000 after training is complete (Dias, 2012). In a smaller
company it would be more cost effective for the HR department to be primarily an administrative
HR department. Larger companies need to increase the HR roles to a more strategic role which is
goaled towards meeting the company s needs. The role of the strategic human resource management
team is to meet the needs of the employees as they are needed. This type of planning allows for
the HR department to meets the needs of the employees and to focus on making sure the needs of
the company are being met also. This type of thinking can allow for improvement in the way
employers hire and train current and future

Payment Card Systems Were Breached
On September 8th, 2014, Home Depot released a statement indicating that its payment card
systems were breached. An investigation had started on September 2nd but they were still
trying to discover the actual scope and impact of the breach. Home Depot was one of the many
victims to a retail data breach in 2014. The unfortunate thing is the way the attacker s infiltrated
the POS networks and how the attackers were able to steal the payment card data, were the same
methods used in the Target data breach. By ignoring the warnings created from the breach at
Target, Home Depot allowed the attackers to use similar methods that could have been easily
defended. Through the use of a third party vendor s logon credentials, the attackers were able to
gain access. Then they exploited a zero day vulnerability in Windows, which allowed them to
pivot from the vendor specific environment to the Home Depot corporate environment. Since
both networks were linked, this was very easy. Once they were in the Home Depot network,
they were able install memory scraping malware on over 7,500 self checkout POS terminals.
They just put out an update to all the POS machines. Just like any IT shop would do. This
malware was able to grab 56 million credit and debit cards. The malware was also able to capture
53 million email addresses. The stolen payment cards were used to put up for sale and bought by
carders. The stolen email addresses were helpful in putting together large phishing campaigns.

Examples Of Perverted Language In Animal Farm
Animal Farm FRQ
1. Orwell uses perverted language throughout the book to make the leaders manipulate the other
citizens or animals in the book. An obvious example of this is how Napoleon uses Squealer as a
propaganda speaker. Napoleon uses Squealer special skill of talking to animals and getting them to
his side. Orwell also uses the example of Snowball. Snowball was a spy for Jones Napoleon said.
When we see him we just kill him (Orwell 65). The animals at first don t believe it like Boxer by
saying that the animals gave him the Animal Hero First Class. However, the animals get swayed
by Squealer s propaganda and just go with what he says. The final example is when after Snowball
leaves, Napoleon says to build the windmill. He uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Boxer is especially the hard working class because he always woke up early for others and did extra
work. Fredrick is like Hitler and fights Animal Farm. Pilkington is also an enemy of Russia and is
helping Frederick. Snowball is like Leon Trotsky a smart politician that aims to improve Russia.
4.The political allegory in the book comes out in the book in many different places. The political
allegory is that Orwell mocks the Revolution that changed Russians into the USSR. The person
who changed it was a man named Karl Marx. He started a revolution that two different classes
very different. He thought that the world was a struggle of a social class and another. This example
is what Old Major didn t want to happen but happened because of Napoleon. He turned animals
against each other and slaughtered those who disagreed with what he thought was right.
5. Old Major had a dream in the first chapter which he prophesied things that would happen. He
first prophesied that the farm would be run by the animals and also that they would drive Jones
out. He however didn t prophesied that napoleon would take over control and kill many animals in
the farm. Old Major also let the animals sing Beast of England which is like the chant for the
animals on Animal Farm.
6. The narrator is the person who commentates and describes the book in a second hand experience
for the readers. The narrator causes different ironies like when Boxer was sent to the Butcher

The Mayan Empire was one of the most innovative and interesting civilizations. It was an ancient
civilization that was one of the most advanced and innovative ones. They inhabited the Yucatan
peninsula and the empire lasted for about 3500 years ending around the year 1500 AD. It is
considered the greatest civilization among the original cultures of the western hemisphere.
The empire was located in what is now known as Central America. They lived in the area that is
now Belize, Honduras, Mexico, and Guatemala. The whole are lies south of the tropic of cancer,

The climate is very hot from May to August and rainy through the rest of the year, so the farmers
have a lot of free time to serve the king. This serving time helped make the amazing developments
from the Maya.
By far, the major innovations and skills were in astronomy. Mayan priests would consistently take
measurements using tools such as a forked stick. Using their amazing astronomical knowledge,
they were able to predict future eclipses. They were also able to chart the complex motions of the
sun and other astronomical bodies. Using this knowledge, they designed a calendar that was the
most complex and accurate of all ancient calendars. In fact, it was only 19 minutes per year off
from the actual calendar. It even contained month and week divisions. One of these months was
only five days long, called the Wayeb, and was considered unlucky.
In mathematics, the Mayans were quite intelligent. They developed a number system using a
combination of dots and bars. These dots and bars were stacked together in piles of twenty, with
the dot meaning one and the bar meaning five. They also made the original discovery of the
number zero. This is a very important development.
They also developed an advanced system of writing similar to Egyptian Hieroglyphics. They
contained over 800 signs, and each one usually represented an entire word. It was a very visual
language and the meaning of the sign reflected what it looked like. Their writing was highly
sophisticated; only

German Expressionism and Dadaism
German Expressionism and Dadaism Introduction Revolutionary forms of art have dominated much
of Germany, apparently as a reaction to the First World War. The era in which the First World War
took place throughout the 1910s, featured artists coming together against what they think the
pointless aggression said major conflict brought. German artists, in particular, protested against the
social structures prevalent during the 1910s, within which the social structures of the Second Reich
were prevalent. German society initially saw film, in particular, as quite an inelegant alternative to
the bourgeoisie associated theater. Such is due to the inability of the domestic film industry in
Germany to develop films due to two reasons the mass... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wiene, Janowitz and Mayer portrayed through The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari their notion that the
German war effort that time was a highly grotesque one complete with mind controlling
propaganda and objections against dying in the name of German imperial dominance, with the
intent to shock audiences with the highly macabre features of the film. In contrast to the
propaganda promotion agenda of Germany during the 1910s, which stood as the reason for
banning foreign film importation in the nation, The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari serves as a
groundbreaking example of Expressionism that time a complete opposite of German government
propaganda due to its shockingly subjective anti government message (Kellner 3 39; Kracauer 61

of Doctor Caligari was an undermining factor to the expressionist nature of the film. Such is
perhaps due to the ascendancy of the fear and anxiety factor imbued within The Cabinet of Doctor
Caligari, which is supposed to provoke the emotions of audiences. After all, it is the main point of
expressionist art to subject audiences to emotionally provoking scenes, which in turn reflect the
subjective views of artists. Therefore, one could note that the narrative frame in The Cabinet of

However The Partridge Family TV show did launch the career of teen idol David Cassidy. Since
he could show his musical talent every week it made things a lot easier for him than to have to

the ever popular show The Monkees had gone off the air in 1968. It was time for more music
and comedy to fill the airwaves. Another thing that greatly helped The Partridge Family to gain an
audience was that the show was scheduled to fill the 8:30 PM timeslot right after The Brady
Bunch in 1970 on ABC. The inspiration for this show was a real life family act The Cowsills.

Abstract A numerical investigation has been carried out for incompressible turbulent flow through
900bend pipes. The model is based on the numerical solution of conservation equations of mass
and momentum. The results of the simulations of the flow in the form of contour and vector plots
for two types of pipe bend both mitre and smooth bend with seven different Reynolds numbers
(2.0+E04, 2.5+E04, 3.0+E04, 3.5+E04, 4.0+E04, 4.5+E04 and 5.0+ E04) are presented in this
paper. From the obtained results, it is seen that the mitre bend produces more turbulent kinetic
energy, eddy viscosity, skin friction factor compared to the smooth bend. To put an emphasis on
the smooth bend for different R/D ratios, the static pressure distribution along the inner, outer
wall and the pressure loss factor with different Re numbers are analyzed. However, it is noticed
that as Re increases the pressure gradient changes rapidly at the inner and the outer wall of the
bend. Again, the total pressure loss factor k increases as the R/D ratio decreases and due to higher
velocity heads factor k decreases as Re increases. The numerical results are found to be in a good
agreement with experimental

Americans were placed in internment camps. The little boy in the book long to be free, just like the

why they symbolize freedom.

Oral Language Development
Children develop oral language at a very early age. Almost every sound a human being makes can
be considered communication. As children grow up, they are constantly observing and practicing
communication and oral language. What they know about oral language has an effect on the
development of their literacy skills. Students who had difficulty with early speech communication
skills were believed to be at risk for readingВ…and consequently writing (Montgomery, 1998).
Therefore, the development of oral languagehas an effect on the ways in which emergent readers
develop literacy.

al., 1998, p.536). Gianna understands this. Most of her sentences show syntax. For example, she
says I like to touch him and Look, now I m using yellow. (DiNobile, 1998). Both of these examples
are grammatically correct.
Syntax is basically the same with regard to reading. When a student reads a sentence in a book,
she typically understands the material because it is worded just as it would be spoken. Readers
use their knowledge of the meaningful arrangement of words in sentences to construct meaning
from text (Vacca et. al., 1995, p.26). For example, a sentence that reads, my book is green makes
sense. If it were worded, green book is my, it would not make sense to the reader.
In the two word stage of oral language development, children between 18 and 20 months of age,
begin to use two word statements. During this stage, children rapidly learn the value of language
for expressing concepts, and especially the power of language to aid them in communication their
desires to others (Dworetzky, 1996, p.241). There are four different types of two word phrases.
Children use two word phrase to locate or name something, to demand or desire something, to
indicate possession, and to question
something. A few examples are there book, more milk, my shoe, and where ball (Dworetzky, 1996,
p.241).

the decision making in police administration. Narcotics detective Douglas Fackrell was surveilling
a South Salt Lake City residence due to the anonymous tip on suspicious drug activity. Based on
his surveillance he determined that the resident was drug dealing. Detective Fackrell saw Strieff
leaving the residence. He identified and detained Strieff to answer questions about what was going

Assuming but not determining Detective Fackrell did not have enough grounds to stop Strieff at
first, but when he was made known of the arrest warrant; it attenuated the connection with the
unlawful stop and the evidence detained from Strieff incident to his arrest. He discovered the drugs
only in the minutes after his illegal stop. Although he had a valid warrant, it had nothing to do with
the discovery of evidence. The warrant only allowed Detective Fackrell to arrest Strieff, but his
search of Strieff s incident to that arrest was considered lawful. The detective was careless in nature
and called his judgment to be questioned. Did he violate Strieff s Fourth Amendment rights?
Although his conducted an unlawful stop, his conduct was lawful, and there are no signs that the
stop was part of any systemic or police misconduct. At this point, Detective Fackrell s judgment
should not constitute a warrant suppression. He was not there just to poke at Shierff. He was there
to gather information about his investigation. Strieff says otherwise due to the absence of probable
cause.
The court determined a baseline or how they were going to exclude evidence based on the Fourth
Amendment violation. Dismissal is only necessary when the benefits outweigh its costs. The
exclusionary rule is very vital in determining if the police officer s conduct was unlawful. By
excluding the illegally obtained evidence, courts minimized the temptation of the

them, risking other people s lives in order to be with the person they love, even though they
know they shouldn t I know I am not supposed to interfere (pg 127). This shows how A has

John Collier Civil War
Collier (2003) also argues that economic agendas appear to be central to understanding why civil
wars start. Civil wars need both motive and opportunity incentives to start conflicts. However he
argues that opportunities are more important in explaining conflicts than motives. I think the new
trend to focus on the means of financing conflicts, coupled with the failure of rebel groups to
articulate and achieve their objectives, have led to a discourse to find rational arguments to dismiss
the grievance factor of conflicts as explained by Arowobusoye (2005). I would argue that identity
and ethnicity are major factors that are more accurate than the wareconomies in the instigation of
civil wars.
Collier (2003) used a causal effect approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I agree with these because big firms thrive through sharp practices and monopoly during war
while other small ventures become their victims. He also pointed out petit criminals as
beneficiaries of war. There is likely for an increase in criminality, governments reduces
expenditure on the police during conflict as they increase spending on the military. As a result,
the risks of punishment for criminal behavior decline as explained by Collier. I disagree with
this view as it is generalization. Only weak states experience increase in criminality as pointed
out by Singer (2003). Collier also pointed out in his analysis that government workers gain
during wars because government monopoly of violence becomes duopoly of violence because.
This is another generalization which I disagree with, government duopoly of violence only
happens in few societies. Moreover Collier didn t give examples of societies or states in which
these happened, which made it very difficult to verify. Overall Collier suggested that motives for
civil war (grievance) are not adequate explanation for the prediction of the outbreak of civil wars
instead opportunity and economic incentives has more explanatory power, justifying this with his
causal effect approach to civil

Difference Between Tocqueville And Marx
Tocqueville and Marx both argue for an egalitarian modern society, but their idea of equality of
modern social order differs, which leads to two distinctive conclusions, democracy for former and
communism for latter, which is adopted by different nations in the world. Both social theorists
place high importance in analysing the history of society to determine modern social order, but
have differing conceptions of history that leads to their contrasting views on the fundamental nature
of the capitalist society, and their distinct predictions for the future. This essay will examine
Tocqueville s and Marx s conceptions of history and through it, understand the nature of capitalist
society, and comprehend their predictions for an ideal modern state. Using their analysis, I shall
argue that Marx s prediction of the future is more compelling as compared to Tocqueville. Marx
begins his analysis of social order with the historical development of materialism that results in the
industrial capitalist society. For him, the history of society depends on the understanding of real

and hardly expect anything from anybody (Tocqueville, 2006, p. 508). The chain that exists in
aristocracy no longer exists in democracy for individuals earn their own keep and does not need to

Factors That Implement Our Way Of Thinking
Many factors implement our way of thinking, but some tend to be more important than others. Age
is a factor, depending on your age often determines how serious you are and what your needs are.
For instance, being an adolescent you are going through stages of puberty and forming into an
adult. Your needs then tend to be impacted by your peers at school, and what is cool. Most
adolescents seek intimacy, communication, empathy and identity, your needs will definitely be
different than a thirty five year old seeking a marriage partner. All through history, the picture of a
beautiful lady, and an attractive man, has fluctuated. Perceptions of beauty do not only vary by
culture but have also evolved throughout time.In Ancient Egypt around 1292 1069 B.C., the ideal
women had narrow shoulders, a high waist, symmetrical face, and was thin. Throughout Ancient
Egypt the society back then was considered a sex positive setting, where pre marital sex took
place and was considered adequate. Old Greeks considered women beautiful, if they had a full
rounded shape, full bodied, and had light skin.
The Han Dynasty (206 B.C. 220 A.D.) women in this culture were viewed as perfect in the event
that they had expansive eyes, fair skin, small feet and a little midriff. Likewise, long dark hair,
white teeth, and red lips. Throughout the time of the Italian Renaissance, women were viewed
beautiful if they had full hips, fair skin, a rounded stomach and an apple blossom, as well as light
hair.

  • 2. Erruption In Pompeii Introduction: A significant event that occurred in Ancient Rome is the eruption of Mt Vesuvius which destroyed the towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum, killing around 2000 people. The Mt Vesuvius eruption was a Plinian eruption sending volcanic ash hurdling towards the sky sending out deadly gases which was the main causes of the death of the people of Pompeii and Herculaneum. It left the towns covered and hidden for many years until archaeologist discovered these sites. This was significant because it opened a great deal of insight into how the Romans went about their day, how they decorated their homes, what materials they used to decorate their homes, building structures and much more information that proved to be very helpful in our understanding of how Romans lived and how they went about their everyday lives. Now came the dust, though still thinly. I look back: a dense cloud looms behind us, following us like a flood poured across the land. Background of the Eruption: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The people of Pompeii were suddenly rocked by a Plinan Eruption from Mt. Vesuvius. The volcano spewed plumes of ash up to 45 kilo metres into the stratosphere. This caused many problems for the unsuspecting people in Pompeii. The plumes of ash were not the source of destruction for the people of Pompeii but also lahars (mud flows) and pyroclastic flows. With the pyroclastic flow made up of hot ash, pumice, rock fragments and deadly gases, moving across the ground it was impossible for anyone to survive even if they hadn t already died from the pumice shooting out of the volcano s mouth. Some of the cloud was white, in other parts there were dark patches of dirt and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stereotyping: Tito (Gabriel Chavarria), a Hispanic student, displays an act of stereotyping Jamal, a black student, by drawing a picture of Jamal as having big, fat lips. The stereotype being that all black men have big fat lips. Jamal was typically the vocal student who instigated students into fights but quickly became the laughing stock of the classroom. He was emotion and trying to hold back the emotions from others seeing. The Hispanic student s picture was significant in the manner that it showed his views and stereotypes of black people. This scenario affected both students, because Ms. Gruwell used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gruwell s students several times throughout the movie. The one which comes to mind and plays a more significant part in the transformation of characters is when Ms. Campbell and Ms. Gruwell are looking through books to be used in class. Ms. Gruwell suggests Anne Frank due to student interest in the Holocaust, but Ms. Campbell quickly denies the request on spot. She talks badly about the student grades and automatically assumes they are unable to read the words in the book or will even take care of the book. She does not want to use quality school resources on Ms. Gruwell s students due to already deeming them as failures. She assumes if the students get books, they will be destroyed. Instead they get destroyed condensed books because everyone knows they can t read. She then explained that she had the authority to deny any request without going for higher approval. This moment make a clear statement of her negative view towards the students and showed exactly how they are not being provided with equal quality education. It gives a closer look into her character s discriminatory outlook on colored students within the school. She only sees them as violent, criminals, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Discuss the interaction between cognition and physiology in terms of behavior Introduction: cognition, physiology, relation Amnesia: retrograde, anterograde Memory: multi store, division, *amnesic patients, ways of distinguishing types of memory (KC, spiers maguire and burgess, vargha and khadem) HM Clive Wearing Conclusion: cognition, physiology Cognition, as defined by Neisser, is all the processes by which the brain transforms, reduces, elaborates, stores, retrieves, and uses information. Physiology refers to the structures of the human body and brain. The relationship between cognition and physiology is bi directional, meaning that cognition can effect physiology and vice versa. Explicit memory contains episodic (events) and semantic (facts). implicit contains procedural (skills) and emotional (emotions). For amnesic patients, the problem lies mostly with explicit memory. There are three main ways to study the differences between the types of memories. The first is the study of anterograde amnesic patients. For example, the study done by Spiers, Maguire and Burgess. They studied 147 cases of anterograde amnesia with damage to the hippocampus. psychological testing proved that all cases had impaired episodic memory and limitedly impaired semantic. This shows that the hippocampus is responsible for episodic memory. To make the conclusion more reliable, another study was done by Vargha and Khadem, with 3 anterograde amnesic patients, and found the same results, except that the semantic memory was completely intact. They found that semantic memory was localized to the cortices underlying the hippocampus. Another way of studying the differences between the two is by studying retrograde amnesic patients. a retrograde amnesic patient known as KC was studied to find that the damage to his hippocampus impaired his episodic memory, but his semantic memory was still intact. The study of amnesic patients is done in psychology to study the relations between the physiology and cognition, because the damage to the brain can be seen easily, ... • 7. Animal Welfare Issues Animal welfare issues exist everywhere in the world, some places more so than others. In saying that, over the years thanks to organizations like PETA, SSCS, SAFE and IDA and so many more amazing groups have led society to become more aware of the problems that exist when it comes to issues relating to the proper care of animals. One very important example of animal cruelty is animals that are brutally skinned for their fur, whether it s dogs in China or seals being culled for their fur, it s inhumane. This is mostly because of the lack of compassion the fashion industry has when it comes to fur. No matter how you look at it, there is no way to make a fur coat in a humane way. Whether fur comes from animal farms or from wild animals, it is simply a barbaric action. Animals killed for their fur in animal farms are normally electrocuted by having an electrical cable attached to their mouths and another cable inserted into their rectum. Wild animals that are caught for their fur are usually trapped in a steel leghold trap, a device that has been proven to be completely inhumane and has, in fact, been banned in 65 countries, but is still allowed in the United States.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Quite often these animals that are trapped in the wild in these terrible traps, don t die right away and endure prolonged agony by dehyrdation, starvation or become mauled by other animals. If by chance, the trapped animals are still alive when trappers find them, they are killed in a number of ways, like; drowning, a hit in the head, or a blow to the chest to crush their heart. • 9. Essay History of Western Art Comparison 1 A Progression of Idealistic Perfection in Sculpture: Khafre Enthroned to Kritios Boy Early Egyptian art from the Old Kingdom, ca. 2575 2134 BCE, demonstrates uniform structure. Egyptian artists and sculptors adhered to a system of strict rules known as canon to create this consistency. The Egyptian canon suggested perfection to be a rigid, ageless idealization of reality. Roughly 1,500 years later, a progressive canon emerged in Greek art reflecting new ideals of perfection. Greek art beginning in the Early Classical Period, ca. 480 450 BCE, digressed from the acceptance of formula (influenced by Egyptian canon) to reflect greater naturalism, an adherence to close observation of reality. Greek perfection was achieved through rational... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The marble sculpture of Kritios Boy from Greece, ca. 480 BCE marks an influential point of stylistic evolution. In contrast to Khafre Enthroned, The Kritios Boy was created for a public audience. The Kritios Boy s standing pose represents a freedom in his figure that divorces the solidity of the stiffly seated Khafre. Rather than emanating timelessness, this naturalistic sculpture seems to capture a specific moment in time. Mirroring a normal human stance of balance and weight shift onto one leg, his stature is contrapposto. Furthermore, the Kritios Boy s physical composition maintains a smooth contour to his natural musculature. His head is slightly turned with hair that seems to fall effortlessly in place. He is completely naked, wearing only a relaxed expression on his face. With no indication of identity, the Kritios Boy exemplifies naturalism in Greek drive to order to analyze form into constituent parts and represent the specific in light of the generic. The figure sculptures of Khafre Enthroned and Kritios Boy exhibit a start and end point in an evolution of artistic technique. Although a single male figure is the subject of both works, canon clearly develops from Khafre Enthroned to Kritios Boy. Both works express a desire for perfection with the use of contrasting ideals. Egyptian artists prized completeness and timeless to achieve a god like representation. Later, artistic form advances as Greeks sought naturalism and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Luke Aikins Research Paper Photo Credit: strideheavensent.tumblr.com With more than 16,000 jumps to his credit, professional skydiver Luke Aikins has performed many heart stopping stunts, but his latest feat tops them all. On July 30, 2016, the 42 year old daredevil became the first man in the world to leap off a plane from an altitude of 25,000 feet without a wingsuit or parachute! Instead, he relied on a net that measured 100 by 100 feet, or less than one third the size of a football field, to break his fall and help him land safely. The stunt, aptly named Heaven Sent, was so dangerous that the United States Parachute Association (USPA) initially denied the skydiver s request to jump without a parachute. • 11. Japanese Internment Camps During World War II The decision to relocate Japanese Americans to internment camps during World War II was an impurity in the United States reputation for maintaining democracy and individual rights. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor during World War II, great hysteria spread through the United States, urging President Roosevelt to pass the now infamous Executive Order 9066, ordering the removal of all people of Japanese American descent. More than 100,000 people were displaced and their lives were changed forever (Tremayne). The tragedies that these people suffered bring into question the reasoning behind the order and its constitutionality. Challenges were made to the constitutionality of the order in cases such as Korematsu vs. the United States that were ruled down. With hindsight bias, the immorality of Executive Order 9066 seems obvious, yet many at the time strongly felt that the right decision had taken place ( Personal Justice Denied ). The circumstances of war made the lines of morality blurry, distorting the decisions made. The Japanese American Relocation was an act of racism more than an act of protection, and was motivated primarily by a fear of foreign people.Roosevelt states in Executive Order 9066 that the war requires every possible protection against espionage and against sabotage to national defense material (Executive Order 9066). An example of this formal language is seen when Nick states, The truth was that Jay Gatsby, of West Egg, Long Island, sprang from his Platonic conception of himself. • 19. The Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh Of Iran Essay In mid 1953, democratic leader Mohammad Mossadegh of Iran was overthrown in favor of electing General Fazlollah Zahedi the new Iranian Prime Minister. This was caused by a coup led by the British Secret Intelligence Service and the US Central Intelligence Agency, though plans for the coup began in Britain about 2 years before the US became involved. Britain, since the early 18th century, had been very involved in Iranian economic affairs, due to Iranian leader Nasir al Din Shah selling large chunks of Iranian industry to foreign investors in order to fund his well known over exuberance. Of his foreign investors, Britain bought into Iranheavily, purchasing rights to run a telegraph through Iran to India, exclusive rights to tobacco in Iran, and exclusive rights to industry, farmland, resources, roads, banks, and currency in Iran, though the latter would later be revoked (31). This decision to subsequently, over time, led to control over the nation s most valuable assets to be given to foreigners, rather than the Iranian people (32). After Nasir al Din Shah s death in 1901, his son Muzzaffar sold the rights to Iranian oil to Britain for 60 years. This decision led to Iranian riots because this would take oil out of Iranian control and Iranian economy would suffer as a result. To combat this, in 1906, Iran formed an Iranian parliament, known as the Majlis, to defend the Iranian people and keep Iran out of poverty. Feeling threatened, Britain stepped in and integrated ... Using this knowledge, they designed a calendar that was the most complex and accurate of all ancient calendars. In fact, it was only 19 minutes per year off from the actual calendar. It even contained month and week divisions. One of these months was only five days long, called the Wayeb, and was considered unlucky. In mathematics, the Mayans were quite intelligent. They developed a number system using a combination of dots and bars. These dots and bars were stacked together in piles of twenty, with the dot meaning one and the bar meaning five. They also made the original discovery of the number zero. This is a very important development. They also developed an advanced system of writing similar to Egyptian Hieroglyphics. They contained over 800 signs, and each one usually represented an entire word. It was a very visual language and the meaning of the sign reflected what it looked like. Their writing was highly sophisticated; only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. German Expressionism and Dadaism German Expressionism and Dadaism Introduction Revolutionary forms of art have dominated much of Germany, apparently as a reaction to the First World War. The era in which the First World War took place throughout the 1910s, featured artists coming together against what they think the pointless aggression said major conflict brought. German artists, in particular, protested against the social structures prevalent during the 1910s, within which the social structures of the Second Reich were prevalent. German society initially saw film, in particular, as quite an inelegant alternative to the bourgeoisie associated theater. Such is due to the inability of the domestic film industry in Germany to develop films due to two reasons the mass... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wiene, Janowitz and Mayer portrayed through The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari their notion that the German war effort that time was a highly grotesque one complete with mind controlling propaganda and objections against dying in the name of German imperial dominance, with the intent to shock audiences with the highly macabre features of the film. In contrast to the propaganda promotion agenda of Germany during the 1910s, which stood as the reason for banning foreign film importation in the nation, The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari serves as a groundbreaking example of Expressionism that time a complete opposite of German government propaganda due to its shockingly subjective anti government message (Kellner 3 39; Kracauer 61 76; Wiene). Ironically, however, Siegfried Kracauer noted that the narrative frame in The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari was an undermining factor to the expressionist nature of the film. Such is perhaps due to the ascendancy of the fear and anxiety factor imbued within The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari, which is supposed to provoke the emotions of audiences. After all, it is the main point of expressionist art to subject audiences to emotionally provoking scenes, which in turn reflect the subjective views of artists. Therefore, one could note that the narrative frame in The Cabinet of Doctor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However The Partridge Family TV show did launch the career of teen idol David Cassidy. Since he could show his musical talent every week it made things a lot easier for him than to have to struggle to get himself seen and heard. This show also came along at just the right time because the ever popular show The Monkees had gone off the air in 1968. It was time for more music and comedy to fill the airwaves. Another thing that greatly helped The Partridge Family to gain an audience was that the show was scheduled to fill the 8:30 PM timeslot right after The Brady Bunch in 1970 on ABC. Mahbubul Alam2 1Post Graduate Student, Department of Mechanical Engineering, CUET, Chittagong 4349 2Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, CUET, Chittagong 4349 *Corresponding Author: email: engr.rrc@gmail.com Abstract A numerical investigation has been carried out for incompressible turbulent flow through 900bend pipes. The model is based on the numerical solution of conservation equations of mass and momentum. The results of the simulations of the flow in the form of contour and vector plots for two types of pipe bend both mitre and smooth bend with seven different Reynolds numbers (2.0+E04, 2.5+E04, 3.0+E04, 3.5+E04, 4.0+E04, 4.5+E04 and 5.0+ E04) are presented in this paper. From the obtained results, it is seen that the mitre bend produces more turbulent kinetic energy, eddy viscosity, skin friction factor compared to the smooth bend. To put an emphasis on the smooth bend for different R/D ratios, the static pressure distribution along the inner, outer wall and the pressure loss factor with different Re numbers are analyzed. However, it is noticed that as Re increases the pressure gradient changes rapidly at the inner and the outer wall of the bend. Again, the total pressure loss factor k increases as the R/D ratio decreases and due to higher velocity heads factor k decreases as Re increases. The numerical results are found to be in a good agreement with experimental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As children grow up, they are constantly observing and practicing communication and oral language. What they know about oral language has an effect on the development of their literacy skills. Students who had difficulty with early speech communication skills were believed to be at risk for readingВ…and consequently writing (Montgomery, 1998). Therefore, the development of oral languagehas an effect on the ways in which emergent readers develop literacy. (DiNobile, 1998). Both of these examples are grammatically correct. Syntax is basically the same with regard to reading. When a student reads a sentence in a book, she typically understands the material because it is worded just as it would be spoken. Readers use their knowledge of the meaningful arrangement of words in sentences to construct meaning from text (Vacca et. al., 1995, p.26). For example, a sentence that reads, my book is green makes sense. If it were worded, green book is my, it would not make sense to the reader. In the two word stage of oral language development, children between 18 and 20 months of age, begin to use two word statements. During this stage, children rapidly learn the value of language for expressing concepts, and especially the power of language to aid them in communication their desires to others (Dworetzky, 1996, p.241). There are four different types of two word phrases. Children use two word phrase to locate or name something, to demand or desire something, to indicate possession, and to question something. Based on his surveillance he determined that the resident was drug dealing. Detective Fackrell saw Strieff leaving the residence. Assuming but not determining Detective Fackrell did not have enough grounds to stop Strieff at first, but when he was made known of the arrest warrant; it attenuated the connection with the unlawful stop and the evidence detained from Strieff incident to his arrest. He discovered the drugs only in the minutes after his illegal stop. Although he had a valid warrant, it had nothing to do with the discovery of evidence. The warrant only allowed Detective Fackrell to arrest Strieff, but his search of Strieff s incident to that arrest was considered lawful. The detective was careless in nature and called his judgment to be questioned. Did he violate Strieff s Fourth Amendment rights? Although his conducted an unlawful stop, his conduct was lawful, and there are no signs that the stop was part of any systemic or police misconduct. At this point, Detective Fackrell s judgment should not constitute a warrant suppression. He was not there just to poke at Shierff. He was there to gather information about his investigation. Strieff says otherwise due to the absence of probable cause. The court determined a baseline or how they were going to exclude evidence based on the Fourth Amendment violation. Dismissal is only necessary when the benefits outweigh its costs. The exclusionary rule is very vital in determining if the police officer s conduct was unlawful. A lets this love define them, risking other people s lives in order to be with the person they love, even though they know they shouldn t I know I am not supposed to interfere (pg 127). • 38. John Collier Civil War Collier (2003) also argues that economic agendas appear to be central to understanding why civil wars start. Civil wars need both motive and opportunity incentives to start conflicts. However he argues that opportunities are more important in explaining conflicts than motives. I think the new trend to focus on the means of financing conflicts, coupled with the failure of rebel groups to articulate and achieve their objectives, have led to a discourse to find rational arguments to dismiss the grievance factor of conflicts as explained by Arowobusoye (2005). I would argue that identity and ethnicity are major factors that are more accurate than the wareconomies in the instigation of civil wars. Collier (2003) used a causal effect approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I agree with these because big firms thrive through sharp practices and monopoly during war while other small ventures become their victims. He also pointed out petit criminals as beneficiaries of war. There is likely for an increase in criminality, governments reduces expenditure on the police during conflict as they increase spending on the military. As a result, the risks of punishment for criminal behavior decline as explained by Collier. I disagree with this view as it is generalization. Only weak states experience increase in criminality as pointed out by Singer (2003). Collier also pointed out in his analysis that government workers gain during wars because government monopoly of violence becomes duopoly of violence because. This is another generalization which I disagree with, government duopoly of violence only happens in few societies. Moreover Collier didn t give examples of societies or states in which these happened, which made it very difficult to verify. Overall Collier suggested that motives for civil war (grievance) are not adequate explanation for the prediction of the outbreak of civil wars instead opportunity and economic incentives has more explanatory power, justifying this with his causal effect approach to civil ... Difference Between Tocqueville And Marx Tocqueville and Marx both argue for an egalitarian modern society, but their idea of equality of modern social order differs, which leads to two distinctive conclusions, democracy for former and communism for latter, which is adopted by different nations in the world. Both social theorists place high importance in analysing the history of society to determine modern social order, but have differing conceptions of history that leads to their contrasting views on the fundamental nature of the capitalist society, and their distinct predictions for the future. This essay will examine Tocqueville s and Marx s conceptions of history and through it, understand the nature of capitalist society, and comprehend their predictions for an ideal modern state. Using their analysis, I shall argue that Marx s prediction of the future is more compelling as compared to Tocqueville. Age is a factor, depending on your age often determines how serious you are and what your needs are. Most adolescents seek intimacy, communication, empathy and identity, your needs will definitely be different than a thirty five year old seeking a marriage partner. All through history, the picture of a beautiful lady, and an attractive man, has fluctuated. Perceptions of beauty do not only vary by culture but have also evolved throughout time.In Ancient Egypt around 1292 1069 B.C., the ideal women had narrow shoulders, a high waist, symmetrical face, and was thin. Throughout Ancient Egypt the society back then was considered a sex positive setting, where pre marital sex took place and was considered adequate. Old Greeks considered women beautiful, if they had a full rounded shape, full bodied, and had light skin. The Han Dynasty (206 B.C. 220 A.D.) women in this culture were viewed as perfect in the event that they had expansive eyes, fair skin, small feet and a little midriff.
