2. How Did Jack London Use Work Animals In The Call Of
The Wild
Out of the 1,979 average cases of animal abuse in the media each year, dogs take
the highest amount of cases each year with 60% of the animals being dogs. Jack
London portrays how dogs were used as work animals in the Klondike gold rush.
London had an adventurous life. He went with the stampeders to the gold in
Klondike. London had many adventures while on his way to the gold, but to get
there He didn t come back home with gold but ideas for books like Call of the Wild

and they they showed how the work animals were treated. In the book Call of the

In the book it says, ВЁ He also rubbed BuckВґs feet for half an hour each night after
supper, and he sacrificed the tops of his own moccasins to make four moccasins
for Buck. This demonstrates they believe that the dogs are important, so they can
carry important mail to and from America. It also shows that they are considerate
for the dogs heath, because if the dogs died then the mail would not reach its
destination and they would lose their jobs. London also writes, ВЁFrancois called
to him a quarter of a mile away, and he doubled back, still one leap ahead, gasping
painfully for air and putting all his faith in Francios to save him. The dog driver held
the axe poised in his hand, and as buck shot past him, the axe crashed down upon
man dolly s head.ВЁ This shows that Francois and Perrault could not afford to lose
multiple dogs, if they lost more than one dog then they would make less time making
them not get as much mail moved. This would end in a loss of
3. Marcus Brutus Ideal Rome
Rome is a republic state which is run by a senate for the people. Julius Ceasar is a
strong leader and the threat of a dictatorship becomes imminent. In the play Julius
Ceasar Brutus is an idealist because he wants to uphold the republican state. Brutus
has a shielded perspective of what Julius Ceasar can do for Rome , and he cannot
accept Julius Ceasar as an emperor, which leads him to conspire to assassinate his
friend. Brutus sees a better, more ideal Rome and he loses his grip on reality.
Brutus tries to plan a more ideal Rome, unfortunately he succeeds in his plan and
he can only accept his plan as a reality. Brutus holds his reality and his ideal Rome
in his hands and he sees that his more ideal Rome far outweighs Rome s reality.
This leads him to conspire to assassinate Julius Ceasar, he gets his friends to agree
to his plan and he brings the conspirators into play. Brutus along with many others
are known as conspirators. They plan the assassination and they all agree with
Brutus s idealisms. Due to Brutus and his fellow conspirators, Brutus starts to lose
his touch to reality. Little by little Brutus gets driven to a point of disbelief, it is at
this point that Brutus is completely lost to reality , he can now no longer see what is
real and what he dreamt... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Brutus and his conspirators finally assassinate Julius Ceasar , Brutus s mind is at

However in the play Julius Ceasar, the assassination of Julius Ceasar inevitably did
the Roman people and the city of Rome an injustice. Now that Brutus had his ideal

created, instead of the reality he was given, where Julius Ceasar was a

Sirens could be heard from all over the city. The news was on in every house,
reporters saying Convicted of robbery, Emily Stanford seen running down the
streets of New York. The last we saw her was she was heading down to the bus

caught up to her. She walked up to the line and waited impatiently. Every sound
made her on edge, when it was finally her turn she pulled her hood closer to her
face. One ticket for Cold Spring please. Emily said quickly, the lady in the ticket
booth gave her her ticket and directed her to the bus platform. Emily quickly and
quietly walked over to the bus and took her seat. A few hours later the bus stopped
and announced its destination, Emily got off the bus and walked quickly down
the street looking for any opportunity to get somewhere to sleep without getting
noticed. She walked past a TV shop and in the window the TV was playing. The
same news playing from earlier that day, she wished every thing would just
disappear and leave her alone for at least one day. She eventually found a small
quiet motel, she got a nice room. After she got settled into the room she got the
things she needed out of her backpack. She walked into the bathroom and got her

7. Friedrich Wilhelm s Impact On Education
Friedrich Wilhelm August Froebel lived from April 21, 1782 to June 21, 1852. He
was a German teacher, and he laid out the foundation for modern education. His
observations and actions were based on the recognition that all children have
different needs and capabilities, which at the time was a milestone in education.
Furthermore, he invented the concept of kindergarten, and he also created the
educational toys that are known as Froebel Gifts. Froebel is from Oberweissbach,
Schwarzburg Rudolstadt, Germany. Shortly after his birth, Froebel s mother s health
began to fail. When he was nine months old, she died, which greatly impacted his
life. In 1792, Froebel moved to the small town of Stadt Ilm with his uncle. Then, at

Later, in 1840, he invented the word for the institute, which is where the term
kindergarten comes from. Friedrich Froebel continued on to design his Froebel
Gifts, which are educational toys that include geometric building blocks and
pattern activity blocks. They were called gifts because they were given to the the
children as gifts, and they also act as tools for adults to observe the human gifts
each individual child possesses. According to Froebel s method, one can observe
the qualities and ideas that make each child unique when they are able to explore
and create. Froebel s main goal was to recognise how important it is for children to
learn, and show how his Gifts could help. Additionally, he intended to introduce
young children to the adult world to help their minds grow and develop thoughtfully.
He introduced the concept of free work into teaching and class work. Some activities
that took place in the first kindergarten involved singing, dancing, gardening and
playing with the Froebel Gifts. It is assumed by modern historians that Froebel spent
a lot of time observing children and creating the designs for the Gifts. He simply
named them as Gifts One through Ten. These Gifts are different from other materials
used in kindergartens, because they have the capability to return to their original
form when they are done being used. An important part of playing with the Gifts is
that the Gifts are always presented as a whole form, and when the time to
8. The Great Challenge For Marginalized Writers Essay
Throughout the semester we have seen how marginalized writers, such as women and
people of color, challenge dominant cultural constructions of gender, race, and/or
class in colonial America and the U.S. Perhaps these writers challenge our ideas about
dominant gender roles or racist assumptions about people that were common at the
time. Choose three writers we have studied who occupy this definition of
marginalized status and discuss the narrative strategies these writers use to challenge
the status quo. For example, how do they address their audience and get readers from
dominant culture on their side? What stories do they tell about themselves or the
experiences of those in their marginalized group, and how and why are these stories
effective in challenging dominant culture?
The greatest challenge for marginalized writers is to evoke sympathy and support
from white readers in their narratives. Writers had to persuade the audience towards
their viewpoint without appearing too critical of the dominant culture. Additionally,
minorities faced another challenge because they had to prove their credibility for
writing their stories in the first place. Frederick Douglass, Harriet Jacobs, and
Olaudah Equiano relied on prefaces, appeals for morality, and Christianity to establish
a connection with their audience. All three writers used ethos, logos, and pathos to
persuade the audience towards their perspective. Once they had created a bond with
their readers, they used
9. Essay on Feminist Theory in Heart of Darkness
Angels and Monsters in Heart of Darkness Joseph Conrad s varying depiction of
women in his novel Heart of Darkness provides feminist literary theory with ample
opportunity to explore the overlying societal dictation of women s gender roles and
expectations in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The majority of
feminist theorists claim that Conrad perpetuates patriarchal ideology, yet there are a
few that argue the novel is gendered feminine. Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar claim
Conrad s Heart of Darkness...penetrates more ironically and thus more inquiringly
into the dark core of otherness that had so disturbed the patriarchal, the imperialist,
and the psychoanalytic imaginations...Conrad designs for Marlow a pilgrimage whose

This need to separate the angelic qualities of women into a totally separate world
might come from the desire to protect one s mother, and plays into the idea of the
eternal feminine that must be preserved. She has no story of her own but gives
advice and consolation to others, listens, smiles, sympathizes... (Gilbert and Gubar
815). The aunt is a perfect example of such feminine qualities and represents the
untainted light of civilization. Marlow then encounters two women who represent the
gatekeepers of Darkness, which puts Marlow in an uneasy mood. Conrad uses these
women to symbolize both the angelic and the monstrous aspects of the female gender;
they welcome the newcomers and guide them to the next step of their journey, yet
knit black wool which symbolizes death, to which they are escorting their guests. This
dichotomy echoes throughout Marlow s journey, Often far away there I thought of
these two, guarding the door of Darkness, knitting black wool as for a warm pall, one
introducing, introducing continuously to the unknown, the other scrutinizing the
cheery and foolish faces with unconcerned old eyes (Conrad 12). The two women
further the theme of light into darkness, the fall of one s humanity from civilized to
savage. While the story starts with an illustration of the angelic feminine in the form
of Marlow s aunt, Conrad presents the first step into darkness by representing the two

11. Forest Deforestation Essay
Forest plays an essential role for local livelihood practices and considered as an
important source of national revenue as well. However, in developing countries such
as Indonesia, forest degradation has become at an alarming rate as a result of the
over exploitation, unsustainable practices, forest fires, and non eco friendly
development projects in the forested areas like forestconversion into mining and
monoculture plantation. Massive deforestation naturally results in biodiversitylosses
and in many places leads to soil erosion, siltation and damage of the forests
hydrological functions, thus worsening food security and compromising forests
future economic and environmental attributes [1] and it has been reported that
Indonesia lost more than 6 million hectares of natural forest between 2000 and
2012 [2]. Not only rich in biological resources (10% of the world s remaining
flowering plants species, 12% of mammal species, 16% of reptile species, 25% of
fish species and 17% of bird species), these forests are also home to tens of millions
of Indonesian citizens. Many, if not most of these citizens are indigenous people with
culturally rich and diverse customs and traditions [3].
Forest ecosystems provide homes and sources of livelihood for a majority of the
indigenous peoples of Indonesia. Indigenous peoples make significant contributions
to the conservation and sustainable management of forest ecosystems, nevertheless,

The theme of The Intimate Act of Choreography by Lynne Anne Blom and L. Tarin
Chaplin is to inform the audience on what choreography is and how to go about
the creative process of dance. This book s purpose is to be a guide into
choreographic process. The choreographic process, which is a series of steps that
create dance and classify dance as a whole, helps the authors break down the major
ideas to form smaller concepts which are used to initialize a dance. The work
provides an analytical view on dance as an artform but also in making the process to
simple to understand and how to use. They do this using three steps to simplify the
choreographic process divide, expand, and use. These three steps are relatively simple
but allow for the audience to understand the purpose of the book and transfer their
newfound knowledge into the world. The Intimate Act of Choreographyacts as

Within the NBFC sector also, the prudential norms applicable to deposit taking

the RBI has initiated measures to reduce the scope of regulatory arbitrage between
banks, NBFCs D (Deposit taking NBFCs) and NBFCs ND (Non Deposit taking
NBFCs). The regulatory framework has undergone significant change in the last
few years. The regulatory policies, which mostly focused on NBFCs D until past
few years, are now paying increasing attention to NBFCs ND as well. The change in
regulatory stance is largely due to a significant increase in both the number and
balance sheet size of NBFCs ND segment that gave rise to systemic concerns. In view
of these developments, NBFCs ND with assets size of Rs 1 bn and above were
classified as systemically important NBFCs (NBFCs ND SI) and were subjected to

19. How Associability Is Defined As The Links And
Connections...
Associability is defined as the links and connections made between a stimuli and a
response. There have been many theories discussing what aspects of associability
make it successful and what can be done to clarify precisely how it works in an out
of experiment setting. Two predominant theories are to be discussed with compelling
evidence for two very different explanations of associability and how its change can
be explained.
The first of these two theories is N.J. Mackintosh (1975). He refers to many past
theories of attention and how they are not suitable for discussing the associability of
stimuli with reinforcement (Mackintosh, 1975, p. 276) stating his new theory answers
some unqualified assumptions. Previous theories of ... Show more content on

These relationships also interact with the second assumption he finds made by
previous theories; that stimuli compete for attention (Mackintosh, 1975, p.281). His
discussion of overshadowing and blocking, which I shall discuss later, lead him to
his conclusion of relevance, where more attention is paid to relevant stimuli and less
to irrelevant stimuli such as where the stimuli only leads to a predicted reinforcement
(Mackintosh, 1975). Both this conclusion and the former, where change of О±
potential leads to a change in performance in an experiment have large impacts for
associability. They appear to imply that in cases of associative change where a
subject s focus switches from one thing to another, it is not the case that they do not
have the mental capacity to focus on both things but they merely attend to those that
provide it with its most rewarding option (ibid.).
Mackintosh s conclusions have drawn support, in particular M.E. LePelley and
I.P.L. McLaren (2003). They apply Mackintosh s theory to humans in an
experiment where after being given a list of potential allergens and outcomes,
subjects are to assess which foods they feel a fictitious Mr. X. (LePelley and
McLaren, 2003, p.72) should avoid. The second stage involves Mr. Y. (ibid.) and
based on previous associations made, subjects are asked to assess for him too.
Mackintosh s (1975) predictions would be that

Introduction
It is a normal scenario for a person to rent a property, such a house for a given
period. While this might seem to be a simple process, it should be understood that
any time a tenant enters into a deal with the landlord, there is always a set of laws
and regulations that define their tenant landlord relationship. The tenant landlord
rights, obligations and responsibilities are outlined in landlord and tenant law,
whereby every important aspect of the tenancy agreement is stated. This paper will
focus on a case law study of Larry and Rodger, focusing on their legal rights and
responsibilities as a landlord and tenant respectively, but from the perspective of a

Some of his /her rights are; receiving the rent agreed upon, as well as implementing
all the agreements in which the tenant agreed upon. The property owner has the right
to have the possession of the property or premises, upon the expiration of the lease.
He or she has the right to expect/require the tenant to handle the rented premises in a
manner that would not destroy the property. Some of the landlord s responsibilities
or regulations include; ensuring that he or she abides to all the agreements that they
both entered or agreed on. To offer security and ensure the tenant is safe from
disturbances and evictions by strangers. The landlord is also bounded by his or her
express covenant to refurbish and maintain the property, unless he or she agreed with
the tenant not to be responsible for such occurrences (Brown et al. 2015).
A landlord usually enters into an agreement with the tenant. A tenant refers to the
one who pays the rent to occupy or use a building or a premise owned by the
landlord. Just like the landlord, a tenant enjoys a number of rights and
responsibilities. For example, some of the tenants rights are as follows; the
commercial right to pay for a comfortable property. A tenant has the residential right
to be aware of the terms of the tenancy. He or she has the right to reasonably fast and
effective repairs if they report any damage. A tenant also has the right to safe
accommodation and ensuring that all the provided items meet

CellMates Approximately one in 107 adults in the United States is incarcerated in
some type of correctional institution. From when one is introduced into the jail
/ prison that person may never feel the touch a loved one for the rest of there life,
or for years. There has been a growing number of correctional facilities allow for
companion animals to be integrated into their programs in a variety of ways.
Sometimes it just takes a little kindness from one hurting soul to another to change
us forever , this quote is a big impact on groups that do allow inmates to enjoy a
companion while spending there time. By having these programs, this changes lives
both canine and human, by offering them a second chance at life. Rescued animals

Upon arrival at their temporary home in the dormitory style setting within the jail,
each dog is assigned a primary inmate handler, and on occasion, a secondary
handler. This not only allows for more inmates to benefit from the program, it also
provides continuity for the dog, should one of the handlers leave the program.
During the program, the inmates spend 8 weeks with there assigned animal and
will be a benefit to the inmates because they will learn the responsibility of caring
for a living being, experiencing the joy of unconditional love, and gaining
confidence in working toward a positive outcome and skills that will allow them to
become law abiding. Once the program is over, the inmates will want there animal
that they were assigned forever and have them stay in the jail. By this program, it can
break out the bad of inmates and let them express there good to show that they are
actually better then most people

The Character of Chillingworth in The Scarlet Letter
Old Mr. Prynne began his new life in the town of Boston as the Physician Roger
Chillingworth. The moment he arrived, the town deemed him intelligent and mild
mannered; he always seemed pleasant although a little odd. Throughout the seven
years he remained in Boston, his character changed so dramatically from admirable
to evil that even those who did not know him personally seemed to notice an evil
nature deep within his soul trying to break free.
Chillingworth stood with Hester Prynne within the confines of the prison, talking
with her about how he would go about finding her lover. He says to her,... Show more

Hester looked at the man of skill, and even then, with her fate hanging on the balance,
was startled to perceive what a change had come over his features, how much uglier
they were, how his dark complexion seemed to have grown duskier, and his figure
more misshapen... (Pg.103). Hester is not the only person to notice the change in
Chillingworth; many of the townspeople recognize the changes in him as well, At
first his expression had been calm, meditative, scholar like. Now there was
something ugly and evil in his face, which they had not previously noticed, and
which still grew more obvious to sight the oftener they looked upon him (Pg. 117).
Slowly but surely Roger Chillingworth is changing from a man with normal
interests, to a man with an evil obsession; every day he is getting closer and closer
to the dark side.
Later on during the story while Hester and Chillingworth are in the woods talking
about Dimmesdale, Hester shouts at Chillingworth, You search his thoughts. You
burrow and rankle in his heart! Your clutch is on his life and you cause him to die
daily a living death! (Pg. 156) Hester knows Chillingworth has more evil in his
blood than ever before in his life; he feeds off the pain he causes Dimmesdale and
enjoys every minute of it. Chillingworth doesn t realize in the slightest how much
more evil flows through his veins now, than did before in his life. It
25. Puerto Rican Music and Its Significance Essay
Puerto Rican Music and Its Significance
Although the policies of Americanization and degradation of Puerto Rican culture
heritage improved by the United States in Puerto Rico during the early decades of the
twentieth century, the utmost concern for the United States was the strategic location
of the island for political and economic advantages, not of the people who inhabited
it. Puerto Rico, though a poor colony, was a rich cultural spot in an area of dynamic
cultural influence of the Caribbean. One aspect of the Puerto Rican culture that was
greatly influenced by its location in the Caribbean and by its repossession by the
United States is music. Music permeated the daily life of Puerto Ricans (Waxer, Oct.

Thus the bomba became known as talking drums (Glasser, 1995).
The plena, another typical form of Puerto Rican music, was considered the singing
newspaper. It was developed at the turn of the century by a lower class mulato
population (made up of Puerto Rican freed slaves and migrants from the English
Antilles) on the coast. Themes for the music came from the idiosyncrasies and
normalcies of daily life, and was incorporated through a narrative verse taken from
the Spanish music culture through call and response . Call and response, another
African influence, is a component of traditional African musical expression in
which a phrase is sung (chanted by part of a group of people and that phrase is
responded to by a refrain by the other part of the group. Call and response is a
component of the bomba, the plena, and the danza and still exists today as an
important ingredient of Puerto Rican music. It facilitates dialogue, and encourages a
sense of community by enabling more people to join in, which then closes the gaps
between classes and races (Waxer, Oct. 29).
The third traditional form of Puerto Rican music is the danza. This genre, developed
by mulato artisans in late nineteenth century, reflected the race, class, and nationality
issues which were present at that time. As the plena and the bomba had African roots,
the danza had roots in English, French, and

Lambert Simnel as a Greater Threat to the Security of Henry VII than Perkin
Warbec After Bosworth, Henry s most immediate and perhaps greatest problem was
ensuring that he kept the crown. from Henry VII by R. Turvey and C. Steinsberg.
This was very true, as throughout Henry s reign he faced many threats because as
King he wasn t established and therefore vulnerable to challenge. Also there were still
Yorkists in power who wanted to claim the throne back from the usurper King and
there was also strong foreign support for any potential threat towards Henry. A threat

However, Warbeck was actually from Tournai in Flanders who was a personable,
quite handsome and charming young man. Simnels and Warbeck s claims to the
throne were great threats to Henry s security, because of Henry s weak claim to
the throne; therefore, it was possible for anyone to usurp his throne like he had
done. Henry claim to the throne was weak as his claim only came from a female
line, as he was a descendant of Henry V s wife and the Beaufort family. But his
victory at the Battle of Bosworth, enabled him as many would say to become a
usurper King and Henry said he was given the throne as he has divine sanction.
Both Simnel and Warbeck on their own didn t pose a great threat to Henry s
security, but they did with the support they individually gained. Compared to
Warbeck, Simnel internally posed a greater threat to Henry s security due to the
internal support that Simnel had. Unlike Warbeck, Simnel had the support of a
great noble power supporting him, and that was John de La Pole, Earl of Lincoln,
who was heir to Richard III. As the heir to Richard III, John de la Pole was a major
potential threat to Henry VIII. But the greater threat that John de la Pole posed and
the impact of his support was that it enabled Simnel to link his internal support and
foreign support (therefore, linking internal and external threat), because of John de la
Pole being the nephew of

As stated in the assignment profile, Lincoln Electric is considered one of the best
managed companies in the world. I believe this to be partially attributed to their
hiring process. Lincoln Electric has strict requirements to weed through unqualified
candidates who will not buy in to the company culture of excellence. This is an
especially important aspect of their hiring process particularly due to the fact of

The world beer industry is still fragmented with the four major companies only
accounting for 22% of the worldwide market. Hence it was expected that there are
chances of consolidation. The aim of industry rationalisation is gathering economies
of scale in production, advertising and distribution. But the cost structure high ratio
of fixed versus variable costs and different local tastes dampened the consolidation
process in the brewery industry. Rationalisation through shifting to modern
production facilities requires high investments, often in unstable economies. That
is why capital expenditures in these markets should spread over a longer periods to
ensure profitability also in early stages. Local brands are often established for
centuries and an integral 2 The Global Branding of STELLA ARTOIS part of life.
This fact makes it often difficult to market a brand successfully. The costumers are
loyal to their well known brands. Because of the capital intensity and in order to save
costs the brewery companies started to rationalise their supply base. Interbrew for
example reduced number of its suppliers and works now more closely with them. On
the one hand it may reduces the costs but on the other hand increases the dependences
to the suppliers. Another factor, which affects the industry, is the threat of potential
substitutes. The emerging wine market in New Zealand for example led to a slump in
beer consumption. In other Mature Markets

31. North Korea s Moranbong Band, My Heart
Performed by North Korea s Moranbong Band, My Heart is a song of contrast.
Contrast between complex and straightforward, and bright and dark, both in the
instrumentation and lyrical content. It is inside of these contrasts that the listener can
begin to understand the song s political message.
Beginning with sudden, energetic burst of violins, piano, electric guitar, electric bass,
and a drum kit, the song s intro is heavily syncopated and rhythmically varied. After
a short call and response section between the piano and rest of the band, every
instrument in unison performs a rising, 8th note riff that connects to the verse. It is
here when the vocals come in where the intro s powerful energy slides into a less
driving, more mellow mood. The intro grabs the listener s attention, but once the
lyrics come in the music slides back to allow the singer to be dominant.
Rhythmical, the core of My Heart lies in the 4/4 time signature with emphasis on the
backbeat. While the bass sticks to hitting quarter notes with the drums, guitar and
piano provide syncopation in the verses by playing on the offbeats. Together with a
tempo that comfortably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the lyrics do not shy away from displaying the political message outright, the
music also carries this message. By utilizing contrasting elements, such as the march
like beat with sudden, syncopated moments, and the bright instrumentation with dark
harmonics, My Heart could be interpreted as a battle between opposing forces, and
calling on the North Korean citizens to stand up and back their country in order to
win any upcoming conflicts. The song feels like a march, further elevating its
political, militaristic message. The lyrics talk about giving everything to the country,
and the dark chords and rich backing vocals give these lyrics a dramatic weight that
could help persuade listeners to follow the narrator s example of
32. First Person Narrative Research
First person narrative research is a term that uses a group of approaches that in turn
depend on spoken words, written works or pictures/drawings of people. These
approaches tend to focus on the lives of individuals as told through their own stories.
The importance and focus within such approaches is in the narrative, usually based on
both what and how it is narrated. The audience validates narrative research. Being
a very useful tool and all, narrative method may not always be strong enough to
stand alone as a central piece of evidence in concluding a point. Regardless if it is
part of a presentation or whether it is a stand alone piece of information, it must be
accepted, based on its own merits as an individual experienceand... Show more

The narrative method allows for an intimate look into the emotions, thoughts and
experiences within a story based on the fact that another has witnessed such or intern
through another s work along for a great picture to be established. Being easily able
to validate a claim or narrative account through another is also a huge benefit of the
method making it easier for the truth to come out and harder for lies to see the light.
Personal narratives and information gained from narrative methods tend to come
from truthful sources based on not wanting to tarnish individual s credibility, and not
seeing a reason in creating lies and misleading information. Nevertheless, many
problems can also be seen within the method harder and less likely to prevent. The
limited perspective is detrimental in the sense that only that one perspective s views
through emotion and feeling are used to describe the situation if there had only been
one account. Unless there are multiple viewpoints from different individuals who
think and act differently put together to create one image from all different sides,
which isn t very practical to do. The narrative method also creates a restricted view in
the sense that anything the reader does not know, you don t know. Such as taking into
consideration different socio contexts and the individuals thinking spectrums. The
narrative account may also be biased, understanding the story through ones eyes,
leaves room for events and facts to change based on what the individual thinks, wants,
and knows at the
33. The Language Of Egypt And The Egyptian Language
Egypt s Language In A.D. 639 Egypt was conquered by the Muslim Rashidun army.
Before this had happened Egypt s language was Coptic which had developed from
Ancient Egypt. Coptic was the language for almost all of the population in Egypt.
But, this language came to an end when by the twelfth century when it was replaced
by the Arabic language. Even after this language was replaced the Coptic Orthodox
church still used it instead of the Arabic language. The Arabic language has become
the main language of Egyptian christian and Muslim. This language has been
unchanged since the seventh century. However, the written language has changed the
modern forms of style and the language is simpler than in original Arabic and are
often the same as English or French. (Home)
Religion in Egypt Most of the population of Egypt practices Islam. It originated
from the country which is now called Saudi Arabia (Home). Muhammad, the
prophet, is seen in their religion as the last of God s missionaries to bring the
revelation to humankind. He was chosen to provide a message for everyone
instead of just certain people. Muhammad is known to have provided the Quran,
just like Jesus is known for providing the bible so his followers can read his word
and become spiritually closer. This book, the Quran, is also known to be the
foundation for all discipline in Islam, just like the bible is the foundation for
christianity.

Educated individuals have power because they are able to understand complex info

because not everyone has access to education and those who do have education get

Trust is power (Cardinal 4). Skloot shows how education is power throughout the
whole book. One of the ways that was shown how education is power is by Deborah
who lacked in education because she says, when I go to the doctor for my checkups I
always say my mother was Hela... (Skloot 9). Deborah at a young age left school in
the sixth grade to go help in the field but then she ended up going to school and
barely finished high school. She hardly understood anything because she was
practically deaf and had a difficult life at home. The only reason why she barely
finished was because Bobbette, a very close family told her I don t care what you
do, but you get an education, cause that s your only hope (Skloot 116). Second
reason why she lacked in power was because she does not really know anything
about her mother except that her mother was used in the science world. Deborah
must rely on Skloot for information because Skloot understands the scientific terms
unlike her. The third reason why she lacked in power was because Deborah does
not know who to trust. Before she met Skloot, a man name Sir Lord Keenan Kester

38. Analysis Of Ost Program Components ( Activities And Goals
)
This research was guided by three questions that pertained to practitioner reports of
OST program components (activities and goals), rationales for the components, and
use of research as a rationale. Findings related to each question are discussed and
then implications for closing the science to practice gap are considered.
First, all 21 practitioners identified goals and activities for their programs. Common
goals included providing a safe environment and developing academic and social
emotional skills. These goals are in line with features of youth programs that can
promote positive youth development (Eccles Gootman, 2002). However, these were
program level goals. Some work has shown practitioners do not have specific goals

Different from a strict science to practice approach to decision making, most
practitioners chose components using input from multiple other sources including
stakeholders (i.e., youth and parents), personal beliefs, and program requirements
(Honig Coburn, 2008). Fun or enjoyment for youth was the most common rationale.
Whether a program is enjoyable has not typically been included in measures of OST
program quality, but perhaps it should be one. Enjoyment is a property of engaging
programs (Bohnert, Fredricks, Randall, 2010) and engagement, in turn, is critical for
attracting and retaining youth. Staff who create engaging environments tend to be
youth centered in their approach to programming and are effective listeners and
observers of the youth they serve (Larson, Walker, Pearce, 2005; Larson, Walker,
Rusk, Diaz 2015).
Building skills was also a common rationale. Different from the origins of OST
programs in the U.S. as settings designed to provide supervision during the gap
between the end of the school day for youth and work day for parents (Mahoney,
Parente, Zigler, 2009), programs in this study were described as educational and
development contexts aiming to augment competencies and/or reduce risks. Indeed,
most practitioners viewed youth development as a main objective alongside safety.
This is an encouraging result because, although the current study does not provide
evidence that the skill building

cause of teenage drinking is peer pressure. Every problem has a beginning, where

they like it, but because it is illegal and it gives them a chance to rebel. The so

teenage drinking begins and the first domino starts the chain reaction. There are
two types of peer pressure. There is direct peer pressure where a subject s peers
actually force him into having a drink. There is also indirect peer pressure where
the subject enters a setting and his peers are drinking so he decides to have a drink
to fit in with the rest of his peers (Articles Teenage Drinking 2). Surveys show that
alcohol abuse is related to teenage activities such as going on dates and going to
parties (Teenage Alcohol Misuse 2). Teens have emotional reasons for drinking
alcohol. Teens choose to drink to relax and allow their bodies to unwind after a
stressful day. Teenagers also choose drinking as a way to escape the harsh realities
of the world such as, problems at home and
40. Comparing the Two Versions of A Butterfly by William...
Comparing the Two Versions of A Butterfly by William Wordsworth
William Wordsworth wrote two versions of the poem To A Butterfly, one in March,
the other in April. In reading the poems, the situation presented is obviously the
same, only interpreted differently and reflected differently. As Wordsworth himself
said about poetry: it is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its
origin from emotion recollected in tranquillity: the emotion is contemplated till by a
species of reaction the tranquillity gradually disappears. Both versions of the poem
are about the memory that the sight of a butterfly brings back, not so much a
memory but a feeling the poet gets upon seeing this butterfly. In the first version of ...

In the last two lines, we learn that the memory is not of the two of them together,
but primarily of his sister, Emmeline, who feared to brush the dust from off its
wings. The memory seems like it should be a happy one, but the language of the
beginning of the poem tells us otherwise, and we are left wondering what has
happened between the memory and now. The tone of the second poem, the April
poem, is quite different from that of the first. Here, the poet does not impose his
own thoughts and impressions upon the butterfly, but simply observes it, and
wonders about the natural life of a butterfly. He thinks of what it would be like to
be a butterfly, thoughts that would put one in a fanciful mood, not a somber one. If
the butterfly happened to take flight in the April poem, I think the poet would be
happy about this (compare lines 7 9 of the April poem to lines 1 2 of the March
poem). The next stanza is very important in differentiating between the uneasy sort
of reflective mood of the March poem, because it describes the orchard ground as
theirs, his and his sister s together, showing us that nothing bad has happened to her
(an idea I got from the March poem). He tells the butterfly that it is welcome in
their orchard whenever it would like to rest, and they would like to see him often.
Lines 16 19 describe the conversations they will have (before, in the March poem, the
conversation he finds in the butterfly brings a solemn
41. Karl Marx And Capitalism Essay
Capitalism is an economic system in which investment, production, distribution and
exchange of wealth is maintained by private individuals. German Philosopher, Karl
Marx is capitalism s most famous critic. Karl Marx was a journalist who wrote
many books and articles about capitalism. Marx viewed capitalism as eventually
leading into a socialist society. Socialismis an economic systemwith investment,
production, distribution and exchange of wealth. Marx believed that under a
capitalist economy, society is divided into two classes, the property owners and the
property less workers. This separates the workers from the rest of the world. He
believes in more government involvement and less business fluctuation in society,

Marx insist that capitalism was like paying a worker one price for doing
something and selling it to someone else for a higher price, and to him this was
exploitation. Marx believes capitalism is unstable because it causes crisis of
abundance in an economic system rather than shortages. What enraged Marx was
that we are able to produce so much. We can supply everyone on the planet with a
car, house, access to a decent school and hospitals. He mentions how capitalist
factories are so efficient, and requires less people to work. This leads to the big
unemployment word that many capitalism societies face. Marx see s this
unemployment as freedom which is interesting because not getting a paycheck and
doing nothing productive is a form of freedom in his eyes. Marx wanted to
redistribute the wealth that was consumed mostly by the rich and share it with
everyone. Marx believed in commodity fetish. Capitalism put such strong emphasis
on economic interest instead of the heart of life. For example, marriage, capitalism
puts business as a major factor in marriage. Marx argued that marriage was an
extension of business and people only stayed together for financial reasons and not
love. The bourgeois would fight with their spouse s and have miserable marriages.
The capitalism system forces everyone to put economic interests in the heart of their
lives so they don t know deep honest love and relationships. The twentieth century
feminist movement argued that
42. Hidden Intellectualism Gerald Graff Rhetorical Analysis
Essay
In the article Hidden Intellectualism written by Gerald Graff, Graff target college
students to inform them about a hidden intellectualism that can be found in our
everyday society. In the article Graff draws attention to the many types and ways
different people can identify with intellectualism. He argues that people are
intelligent in several ways and just need to learn how to plug the intellectualism they
enjoy into a schoollike setting during classes. He exemplifies this by using his own
intellect within sports and such as an adolescent. While being very analytical of
sports team movies, and the toughness he and his friends engaged in, he was
unknowingly before now trained to be intellect in a class room and other school
subjects.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Graff also makes the statement that, Real intellectuals turns any subjects however
lightweight it may seem into a grist for their mill through...out of the righest subjects.
This statement makes the point that if students were first trained to be intellect in
something they they liked then they would know how to be true intellectuals and
plug that format into any subjects and be intellect about that subject.
Also Graff grabs the audiences attention thorugh logic by making the statement.
when Marrilyn Monroe married the playwright aurther miller in 1956 after
divorcing retired baseball star Di Maggio the symbolyis triumph of geek over jock
suggested the way the wind was blowing . Graff makes this point primarily to show
the audience that being intellect is okay and does not make you a geek.
Thorughout Graffs article about Hidden Inttelcetualism he makes numerous
emotional appeals to the audience is to bring home his points about finding
intellectualism in various places. When Graff is arguing why students aren t very
intellect anymorein todays societyhe says, People would rather be socially
accecepted than to be known as booksmart . He argues this point by using his own
personal expierneces from his
