Cultural Values In Anglo-Saxon Poetry
What kinds of cultural values would have contributed to the Anglo Saxon Poetry? The value of
valor contributes to the Anglo Saxon poetry and is in Beowulf. Unselfishness also contributes to the
culture and shows in the story of The Seafarer . The value of justice in The Wanderer contributes to
the poetic characteristics also. These values all contribute to the Anglo Saxon cultureand show how
writers back then have a basis to follow for poetic aspects. The valueof valor shows mostly in
Beowulfand it contributes to Anglo Saxon poetic culture. Beowulf believes in valor which is
right and keeps to the code they follow. He does not use weapons during the fight against
Grendel, which is a part of the aspects of valor in the culture. He uses a sword and shield against
the dragon, because there was not a code to follow unlike the fight against Grendel, but they
prove to be useless in the fight anyway. Beowulf shows valor through fighting the monsters
because he needs to be brave against the enemies to be able to express his valiance for what is
right. He is strong against Grendel during the battle and uses his hands to rip the arm from the
body of the monster. During the battle against the dragon, he is not strong enough to take it on
himself, but the valor he shows, by trying his best in the battle brings friends of his to help him
defeat it. He keeps his valor strong with the people by defeating the monsters he wants to defeat
when he first arrives. No matter the withdrawal

Annotated Bibliography On The Effects Of Aspartame
Annotated Bibliography for the Effects of Aspartame Numerous neurological and behavioral side
effects have been linked with consuming aspartame at well below the approved safe limits set by
the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Aspartame is an artificial sweetener that has been
ingested in the United States for over three decades. Even though there are several studies showing
the harmful effects of its consumption. When aspartame is digested several toxic chemicals are
produced, most notability formic acid glutamate. Both of these chemicals cause the body to mimic
the side effects of multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer. Even the passing of aspartame to be allowed in
food was controversial. Just as the studies on it, continue to be today.... Show more content on

Phenylalanine can pass through the blood brain barrier and significantly change the production of
neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are the chemicals that send signals from one neuron to
another. By bonding to a, ...neutral amino acid transporter (NAAT)... (Humphries, Pretorius,
NaudГ©, 2008, para. 7) phenylalanine is able to pass through the blood brain barrier. The body also
further breaks down phenylalanine to tyrosine when it is processed through the liver. If tyrosine is
additionally broken down to dihydroxyphenylalanine and reaches the brain the production of
dopamine will be compromised leading to depression like symptoms after the consumption of
aspartame. Further cellular breakdowns are additionally explained throughout the article. The two
most shocking assertions are the long term effects with consuming high levels of aspartame with
increasing the chemical glutamate on the NMDA receptors leading to a decrease in stimulation and
neurodegeneration, possibly causing or mimicking the symptoms of the disease Alzheimer s. The
second alarming claim made on the effect of long term ingestion of aspartame is when aspartame s
temperature exceeds 86 degrees Fahrenheit. As the authors observed, ...the wood alcohol in
aspartame is converted into formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic
acidosis. (Humphries, Pretorius, NaudГ©, 2008). Metabolic acidosis causes methanol toxicity,
which has been associated with mimicking the symptoms of multiple

The Characteristics Of Materialism In The American Dream
Society is buying objects we do not need, with the money we do not have, to impress people that
do not matter. The American Dream is developing into a more materialistic world, a dream in
which the dream keeps getting larger and greedier. Materialism is the tendency to think material
objects are more important than people; a desire for money over ethics. Today, life shows us
that people have a desire for newest, thinnest, updated most expensive smartphone or the more
expensive lavish materials. Life shows us that our car is undesirable now, especially when our
cars do not hook up with that latest cell phone. Life shows us unrealistic standards of a way to
live, yet a huge portion of the people in society appear to be emptying out their wallets. This
materialistic culture is a show, a phony act when in society we pretend we are what we are not.
We all live in a materialistic society where the majority of people are more worried about what
we have than who we are. There is an emphasis on what brand a person is wearing, what car
someone is driving, and just how many objects one has, in general. A person must wonder where
this hunger and greed comes from and why most Americans fall susceptible to this phenomenon,
including me. Materialism is an identity crisis. A person should know what they need, and what
they can afford, but seem to have a different driving force which dictates their life. So how come

Many areas are sought after due to their streetscape, environmental landscape and location to
transport facilities. Our heritage gives us a sense of living history and provides a physical link to
the work and way of life of earlier generations. It enriches our lives and helps us to understand who

1. What is Heritage Significance?
The concept of heritage significance is based upon an idea that a place or an artefact may be
historic, scientific, aesthetic or social value for the past, present and future generations. The state
of New South Wales has two main types of heritage listings known as conservation areas and
heritage items. An item listed as heritage identifies that a place or object has some heritage
significance. There are four main permitted lists for heritage listings, for places that are local such
as a council district, state wide, Australia wide and internationally. Local items of heritage
significance are listed on Local Environment Plans, at the local council. The State Heritage
Register lists our State s most significant heritage places. The Nationale Heritage List contains
details of Australia wide heritage items or places. The World Heritage List contains items of world
wide significance. There is currently 936 properties listed as outstanding universal value. Heritage
places gathered from all lists combined demonstrate and illustrate the unique history of NSW and
Australia. As physical links to

Case Study Of Cryptosporidium
Introduction
Cryptosporidium is a microscopic parasite which causes a disease in the human body which in
turn brings on bouts of diarrhoea. The disease is known as cryptosporidiosis. Cryptosporidium is
more commonly known as its abbreviated term of crypto . Cryptosporidium has many sub species
all of which can infect both humans and animals. The parasite has a thick outer shell which is the
main feature of why it is so able to resist certain types of disinfection. This thick outer shell makes it
extremely resistant to chlorine disinfection in particular.
Cryptosporidium has become a problem in several locations throughout Ireland which has
highlighted issues within the treatment of water in Irish Water Treatment Plants. A study has shown

as foods such as spicy foods can make your diarrhea even worse. Local GP s can also provide
patients with anti diarrheal medication. This type of medication slows down the diarrhea and
makes the patient feel better in general. One type of medicine is called Nitazoxanide and is an
FDA approved medicine to treat cryptosporidiosis. However it has been determined that the
effectiveness of this medicine in people with weakened immune systems is not known.

Cartridge Shooting Research Paper
Cartridge casings can be found a various types of crime scenes. These cartridge casings are then
examined to answer questions such as, what was the caliber of the firearm (i.e. 9mm, .308
Winchester), composition of the ammunition (i.e. brass, steel), shape (i.e. rimless, rimmed), the
position of the shooter, etc. Individual characteristics on cartridge casings that are useful in forensic
investigations include firing pin impressions, breech face marks, ejector marks, and extractor marks.
The various portions of the weapon that come into contact with the casings are firing pin, breech,
the ejector, the extractor, and the chamber. These parts leave their imprints on the fired casings
because of the great pressure on the cartridge when it s fired. The pressure is transmitted in ... Show

The cartridge is only fired if the firing pin strikes with a certain amount of force. So, it has to come
into contact with the cartridge to leave its impressions on the percussion cap. The firing pin strikes
the center ring of the cartridge and leaves a distinctive impression that is exclusive to the firing pin
of that particular gun. The clearness of the markings of the firing pin will depend on the pressure,
which is developed by the cartridge. Another identification method is using breech marks. When the
ammunition is fired, the explosion causes the bullet to get forced down the barrel and the cartridge
casing is forced back against the breech. The impressions that this leaves on the casing are unique
to the individual gun s breech. Examples of breech markings include vertical, sandblasted, mottled,
rime dents, etc. Also, when the cartridge casing is ejected from the chamber of the gun, it leaves
marks on the casing that are unique to those parts on the specific firearm. This includes markings
that are curved, diagonal, spiral, thin chamber marks, light ramp bulging,

types especially EROI results of hydropower plants are also presented. The essential features of
storage type hydropower plants also have been generally discussed as an important part of EROI s
Energy input calculation. Special attention will now be given to the hydropower resources in
Myanmar in Chapter 3 and the detailed discussion of storage type hydropower plants will be
addressed. Chapter 3 Hydropower Resources in Myanmar 3.1Introduction Myanmar has tremendous
hydropower potential; however the majority of this potential has remained undeveloped due to the
economic and political disturbances. The technical feasible potential from the major rivers and
other potential water resources support the country as one of the renewable energy rich countries
amongst its neighbouring, energy demand countries especially China, and India. Due to the
increase in electricity demand of the domestic and cross border regional energy trade issues
(Kattelus et al., 2015), the necessities for the extraction of the large hydropower resources should
be fulfilled from the geopolitical perspective. In this chapter, the current situation and future
potentials of hydropower resources basically storage type hydropower plants

Edward Taylor Research Paper
The Puritans were a group of people that emigrated from England and settled in North America.
They were a highly religious group of people with a variety of literary works. The Puritans had no
single voice that represented them, but instead a variety of voices that represent their group. The
Puritans and their literary works were the prominent between 1620 to 1783. The purpose of Puritan
literature was to apprise both his neighbor and his fellow Englishman across the sea of recent
events taking place in the colonies (Warner, 588). Edward Taylor was an incredibly prominent Poet
during this time period, writing many different poems and sermons. He was an orthodox,
reactionary, New England Puritan Minister, ably caring for his congregation and vigorously
defending the American Federal Theology. The poetic works of Edward Taylor conform to the

Many prominent poets from the Puritan era would use biblical themes and biblical language.
Examples of poets who used biblical language were Anne Bradstreet and Roger Williams who
would merge the language of the Bible, the Old World, and the New World (Johnston, 126).
Edward Taylor followed suit with this idea and often The voice of Edward Taylor...is a sensuous
voice (Johnston, 126) .This is well demonstrated in his poem I am the Living Bread. Taylor
described God and the heavens as luxurious in the lines , In this sad state, Gods Tender Bowells
run Out streams of Grace: and he to end all strife The purest Wheate in Heaven (Taylor, 19

purest , tender , and Grace have highly extravagant connotations that create a mood of luxury. This
characterizes God as a magnificent and divine being. Taylor is focusing on the theme of god and is
describing him in a sensuous

Nurse Malpractice
The nursing profession is very challenging and demanding. As a nurse, you must be dedicated,
reliable and trustworthy. When a nurse enters into a critical care unit there is more responsibility
placed on him or her. It is the job of the nurse to uphold professional competence. Failure to do so
may result in malpractice. According to Finkelman and Kenner (2016) malpractice is an act or
continuing conduct of a professional that does not meet the standard of professional competence
and results in provable damages to the patient (p. 185). In order to have a successful lawsuit filed,
there are four criteria that must be met. First, there must have been a nursepatient relationship,

The Design Tool That I Will Use For My Research
The design tool that I will use for my research case of study is the survey. Survey represents one
of the most frequent types of quantitative in social science research. By utilizing the method of
survey research, as a researcher I can cull a sample of respondents from a population and
administers a uniform questionnaire to them; in this case the children ages 10 13 yrs old and their
parents from an aftercare program. The questionnaire, or survey, will be an indicated document that
will be consummated by the person that will be surveyed, throughout a questionnaire, a face to face
interview, or a telephone interview. By utilizing a survey, will accumulate data from diminutive
populations that every so often referred to as the macrocosm of a study. According to Bradburn and
Sudman (1988) the benefits of using this tool over other tools are: Surveys are quite less expensive.
Surveys are utilizable in unfolding the characteristics of an astronomically immense population. No
other method of observation can provide this general competence. They can be administered from
remote locations utilizing mail, email or telephone. Consequently, prodigiously and sizably
voluminous samples are feasible, making the results statistically consequential even when analyzing
multiple variables. Many questions can be given as a topic giving considerable litheness to the
analysis. There is flexibility at the engenderment phase in deciding how the questions will be

John Winthrop Speech

Professor Ruane
HUM 2331 US History to 1865: MWF 1 1:50 20 September 2017
Quiz 1 Replacement Assignment
1. John Winthrop s speech to the General Court of Massachusetts explained the Puritan concept of
freedom which consisted of natural liberty (doing whatever you want) and moral liberty (doing
what is good). In the Massachusetts Bay colony, the Puritans wanted to have the right to worship
and govern themselves but had to exercise good moral conduct by obeying religious and
government authority. Winthrop explains the idea of freedom with an example of the status of
women in society. He states that a woman has the liberty to choose her husband and thus is subject
to his authority. So, a woman gets the liberty to choose who rules over her but then must obey
everything her husband says. This shows that in the Plymouth and Massachusetts Bay colonies,
individuals needed to conform to the colony and practice what the authority wanted them to
practice; they had low individuality and women had low status and rights under her husband. The
trial of Anne Hutchinson also supports this idea as she was prosecuted for having views that
differed and endangered society by holding meetings to discuss religious issues. Hutchinson was
brought before the court led by John Winthrop because she seduced honest people in her meetings
(Foner 36) thereby dishonoring the commonwealth and disrupting society. Winthrop stated that
Hutchinson holding meetings and talking about churches is not fitting of her sex, showing that
women were not supposed to discuss
Lo 1 religious topics. At the conclusion of the trial, Hutchinson was subjected to being banished
from the colony. Though she did not agree with the judgement of

At that time we worked for the NYC summer youth programs. Our job was to clean Lincoln
Terrace Park, clear trash and moving of debris. With little of nothing to do, the Gods held

What image is conjured when the word samurai is heard? A picture of courageous warriors who

color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way.
There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder. ... This

The Film Frankie Alice Starring Halle Berry
IntroThe film Frankie Alice starring Halle Berry is based on a true story of a woman who is
living with a dissociative identity disorder. Set a number of years back (likely the 1970s or
1980s), this film provides the audience with a close up look at what it might be like to live with a
mental health disorder. While watching the film, I put a great deal of effort into understanding the
symptoms and episodes of the disorder, as the main character experienced them. Through my
findings, I have a greater understanding and appreciation not only of dissociative identity disorder
but also of mental health in general.
Mental Status exam diagnosis I would like to address each of the identities that appear in the
film so that I can go into more details about their traits as the paper progresses. The main
character or identity is Frankie who is an African American female in her early thirties who works
as an exotic dancer. One of the other personalities that she exhibits is a woman by the name of
Alice, who is southern racist. The final identity that appears much less often is a young child who
the psychiatrist comes to call Genius, as her very high IQ would suggest. The psychiatrist, Dr.

the very basic elements of her life such as questions about her work and her family. In this way,

Analysis Of The Book The Dark Streets
Urban fiction is a great genre, depending on the author you choose. Urban fiction is heavily
associated with minority groups and negative lifestyles. Ghetto, trashy, murder, sex, drugs, and
many other derogatory words immediately come to mind, when thinking of urban fiction. Although
an in depth glance into the mind of the author will show you that it s so much more than that. The
authors are painting a picture of reality. Through the eyes of the author we get a firsthand take on
the shocking lifestyle that many people actually live. Thug Passion is the novel that I will be
evaluating. Being that author Mz. Lady P provides everything you need to have a great urban fiction
story in this book. In this essay I will explain how the grimy streets, along with the story line, and
relatable characters make up the characteristics of a great urban fictionbook.
Mz. Lady P is one of the national bestselling authors in urban fiction. She lacks a filter and
possess grit, so nothing is held back while reading her attention grabbing books. She was born and

knows exactly what it s like to struggle and live in the hood. I appreciate the authenticity of her
writing along with her deep passion for writing, that is felt throughout the readings of her books.

Why Poor Children Are More Likely To Become Poor Readers
Why poor children are more likely to become poor readers: the early years by Jennifer

to have experiences that encourage the development of fundamental skills for readingacquisition,

Socio economic disadvantage is a relative concept referring to low socio economic status, which is

that children from disadvantage or poor families are more likely to become poor readers, prior to

The Matter Of Dark Matter
Dark Matter Some scientists now believe it is not the matter we see, but the matter that hides in the
dark that holds the true secrets of the universe. There is a mysterious dark matter that binds stars
and galaxies together, and this matter might be made up of WIMPS, MACHOS, and axions.
Physicists continue searching for dark matter, and particles that make up dark matter. Dark matter
has strange characteristics and behaves quite differently from ordinary matter. Understanding dark
matter is essential to understanding how the universe behaves. Scientists assume that dark matter
is real. Gravitational theory requires dark matter to explain why our universe looks the way it
does. Without dark matter in the galaxies, the circular force of the galaxies would push stars out
of their orbits and off into space. Scientists also assume dark matter is plentiful. Scientists theorize
that there should be five or six times more dark matter than the matter we now detect. Scientists
also theorize that dark matter must be made up of particles that obey all or some of the known
laws of physics.
Scientists have hypothesized that surrounding most galaxies are huge amounts of matter called
dark matter. Dark matter is matter that is invisible and does not emit light, heat or radio waves.
Dark matter does not interact with ordinary matter, and possibly billions of dark matter particles
pass through ordinary matter every minute (Hawking 186 188). Dark matter holds galaxies, stars,
and solar

The Human Spirit In The Moon Is Down By John Steinbeck
Everyone, including some of the greatest and strongest beings known to mankind, has the ability to
overcome and stay strong in the midst of adversity. This strength and backbone of the soul is the
human spirit. The human spirit allows for the ability of overcome and remain strong in the midst
of adversity. In the novel The Moon is Down, the play Antigone and in the poem Invictus, the
human spirit gives the characters the ability to overcome oppression and have strength. Although
each work is set in a different era, the strength of the human spirit remains prevalent. The human
spirit gives individuals the ability to have determination and display strength in the midst of
adversity and oppression; both of which are exemplified throughout the life of every individual. In
the novel The Moon is Down by John Steinbeck, the townspeople demonstrate the power of
human spirit through their active resistance against the invading soldiers. At the beginning of the
novel, the town is invaded by Nazi soldiers, and the townspeople are caught off guard. Despite the
fact that the Nazis believe the townspeople will openly accept them, the townspeople do the
opposite and actively resist their orders. The first act of rebellion against the soldiers, which
inspired many of the other townspeople to also stand in opposition to the invaders, occurs when,
From the doorway came the sound of an angry woman s voice, and a thump and a man s cry.

Essay on Education Policy in Michigan
An outdated education system is the largest problem Michigan faces because it affects not only
the present, but also the future of the state. Important issues cannot be solved, nor policies created
to remedy them, if the people attempting to solve them are not equipped with the skills and
knowledge needed to make informed decisions. The state cannot run itself, let alone the nation as a
whole, if its people are uneducated. The Constitution, the very basis of our government, relies
heavily on the assumption that citizens of the United States are able to make knowledgeable and
well reasoned decisions, the types of which cannot be made when a person does not receive a
proper education. This proper education is unattainable when low... Show more content on

After several years of success, the required cuts along with economic woes rendered Proposal A
largely ineffective and unable to properly fund Michigan s schools, creating a massive problem
in the way Michigan school districts are to be funded, as well as developing a need for new
educational policy to supplement or overhaul Proposal A and the Michigan educational system.
The educational funding problem in Michigan takes root back in 1809, when the first public
school was founded. While funding was not an issue at the time, the way schools were funded
through local property taxes eventually created a large problem. Fast forward to 1985,
Michigan has long moved past the rural cities of the 1800 s and into affluent suburbs and cities.
The size and taxation pools of cities have greatly changed from 1809 to 1985, but the way
schools were funded remained exactly the same. This lack of change led to a large disparity in
school funding from richer districts to poorer districts. Coupled together with local governments
inability to convince citizens to vote in favor of millages and tax hikes, the disparity ballooned. In
1993, Bloomfield Hills ranked in the 99th percentile of Michigan schools, was spending on average
$10,294 per student, while Standish Sterling ranked in the bottom 1st percentile, spent $3,738 per
student, roughly a $6,500 difference per student (Roy 2003). This inconsistency greatly
disadvantaged students all the way to 95th percentile, where there

Collier County History Collier County was created as one of many new counties during the

growth and development of the southwestern coast of Florida. It is the state of Florida s 62nd

swamp buggy racing. Some of the first residents arrived centuries ago after migrating farther south
after the end of the last Ice Age. However, the first permanent settlers did not arrive until the 1880 s
when communities started to form along the respective Naplesand Immokalee territories (Collier

Literary Techniques Used In Beowulf
In the epic poem Beowulf , Beowulf himself used a variety of unique and smart methods and
ways to win and defeat the monster s that tormented Herrot. One method he used to defeat and

used to defeat and kill another one of his enemies was by going in right through the front door of

One method Beowulf used, to find and kill Grendel, was with the element of surprise and with his

and finally, attack and kill Grendel. Beowulf lured in Grendel by staying in the Mead Hall,
where he knew Grendel would search for something to kill. Then, to get Grendel distracted, he

The Exodus Source Analysis Essay
The Exodus
In this source analysis paper I will be analyzing the Bible, specifically Exodus, to explore the
Israelite people during their time of wandering from Egypt to the Promised Land and why it took
them so long to reach their destination. It will also touch on Moses and his descendants and
reason as to why he was able to look at the land, but unable to go and live there.
To give a brief description, Exodus is a Greek word that translates to departure or going out. A
large chunk of Exodus as well as Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy follow the Israelites in their

My Understanding Aligns Best With Developmental Models Of...
In terms of identifying a personal philosophy of change, I have found that my understanding
aligns best with developmental models of change. Developmental models suggest that people
move through stages of change as they grow. This understanding of change is especially useful in
the supervisory relationship. It is likely that the supervisee has a limited skill set and likely lacks
confidence in his/her ability, as he/she has only had limited experience in the beginning stages of
change. As he/she progresses through the stages, however, the skill set grows and more confidence
is gained, as explained by the developmental models. A large portion of the time, supervisees move
through these stages of change with the help of their supervisor. It... Show more content on

With the likely already present anxiety related to being a beginning therapist, working through
these issues may be more difficult. Therefore, it is important for the supervisor to be mindful of
this and provide support to the supervisee as need be. It is also important for the supervisor to
remember that the supervisee is likely still developing his/her own professional identity. The
supervisee is a new clinician and likely has little confidence and a limited skill set.
Due to this, there is importance in the supervisor being empathic. The supervisor should
encourage the supervisee to use problem solving skills to work through the change. The
supervisor should continue to encourage the supervisee to problem solve on his/her own as much
as possible to improve his/her skill set. That is, it is important to remember that the supervisee
has likely already learned about what to do in difficult situations they will come across, so the
supervisor should encourage the supervisee to resolve such issues on their own as much as they
can. Then, the supervisor should work to normalize and validate the supervisee s experience. It is
the supervisor s job to know what stage the supervisee is in, help him/her move through the stages
by providing feedback that is in line with his/her current developmental level, and subsequently
assist the supervisee in his/her own progression to the next stage so the

John Stuart Mill s Analysis Of The Oppression Of Women
The Subjection of Women looks at the society and its struggles in adjusting to an environment
where women are treated equally. John Stuart Mill s approach to changing society comes from
the viewpoint that after many years of submission and discrimination, women should be treated
equally. This conclusion comes from a reflection on past classes of people that were similarly
oppressed. Mill looks at similar situations throughout history where one certain group was
dominant over another submissive group such as free vs. slave, white vs. black, etc. Mill states
but if the principle is true, we ought to act as if we believed it, and not to ordain that to be born a

In the case of religion and government, they are both ran by men, fundamentally men use these
two establishments to further their own interests and make up rules, commandments, and laws
to force women into marital enslavement . Mill lived in an era when women were seen as a
lower class than men by law and custom. They were expected to do nothing more but to marry,
bear children, and give up much of their time to their families. In most cases they could not
pursue a formal education, own property, vote, or even seek a divorce from an abusive husband.
Women lived by having to follow the rules of their masters, their husbands. Mill s case for women
s equality reflects his Utilitarian roots. The subjection of women, he argues, is not only wrong in
itself but one of the chief hindrances to human improvement. By denying women the same
opportunities as men, he says, society not only hinders the development of roughly half the
population but denies itself the benefit of their talents. The fact that men are typically superior to
women in physical strength leads to the assumption that men are superior to women in all areas,
despite the fact that there is no proof to support this claim. In this respect, Mill says, the unfair
situation of women matches that of slaves. Mill argues that the progress of society requires that all
people, men and women alike, not be imprisoned in the fixed social

The song encourages its audience to think outside the box and come up with new ways to do
things out of the ordinary. The singer starts the song with a hook question: Am I wrong for
thinking out the box from where I stay? Am I wrong for saying that I ll choose another way?
(Nico Vinz). This question is meant to make people think about breaking the ordinary. Afterward,
the author offers the audience with a benefit of being non traditional and extraordinary, he sings,
If one thing I know, how far would I grow? (Nico Vinz). As been chanted, a new, non traditional
way could ultimately help us find a new higher limits and beat the old ones. This song wants to
beat the ordinary and help people escape traditions to potentially earn better results throughout their
daily lives. This is such an amazing benefit! So don t be afraid to be non traditional and try
something new.
Finally, the poem The Rose That Grew From Concrete conveys the great benefits of non
traditionalism by clearly showing how a beauty is formed from unexpected places if we leave

My Hawaii Vacation
When I learned that my family and I would be going to Hawaii, I looked forward to going to the
beach, sightseeing, and the warm weather. I never knew that this vacation would end up
teaching me valuable life lessons. It was the summer of 2014 when I went to Hawaii, and I was so
excited because I love traveling and I had always wanted to go there. There is a six hour time
difference which was hard to get used to because we ended up landing in Hawaiiat what would
have been four in the morning in Ohio. Before we landed in Hawaii, the vacation did not start off
very well.
When we arrived at the airport in Los Angeles for our connecting flight, we were kept on the plane
for almost an hour, even though our layover was only forty five minutes. We knew we did not
have much time anyways; but after the delay, we thought we would miss the only flight to
Hawaii that night. When we were finally able to get off the plane, a girl around the age of
twenty five who was on the flight was yelling at everyone and trying to push everyone out of the
way so she could get out first. She ended up getting off the plane before us even though she was
sitting in the very back. Because of this, we could not find my brother when we got into the
airport. However, the airport security workers were telling us to just run to the gate. At the gate, we
found my brother who was already there talking to the flight attendant. They ended up having to
delay the flight to let us on. I was surprised

they have fans all over the country than teams like Boise State, North Dakota State, San Diego

across country to go watch postseason play are the fans going to come or will the trip be too
expensive for them. On a dart board in terms of reliable, this would be in the middle, because what
about teams like Miami that can get the Orange Bowl and be right there in Miami. Another team is
University of Southern California or UCLA and play in the Rose Bowl which would be like a
home game for them. I believe that this source is objective because they do come up with their
answers with help from other sources that have been studying this. The goal of this source is to

The Legacy Of Napoleon Bonaparte And The French Revolution
Napoleon Bonaparte was a military general and the an emperor of France who is now
considered one of the world s greatest and one of the world s most controversial military leaders.
Napoleon revolutionized military organization, sponsored the Napoleonic Code, and also
reorganized education and established the long lived Napoleon code with the papacy. ( pbs.org ,
nov 27, 2016) Napoleon s many reformations left a lasting mark on the institutions of France and
of much of western Europe. But his driving passion was the military expansion of French
dominion, and though at his fall, he left France only a little larger than it had been at the outbreak

through blockading and attacking its commercial interests. He started the Egyptian campaign in

Analysis Of Sweetness By Toni Morrison
In an effort to explain the impact of colorism in black communities, Rita B. Dandridge once
stated, In African American culture, class bias is the handmaiden of intraracial prejudice that
privileges the near white or light complexioned person over the darker hued. These privileges
include more desirable jobs, houses in more prestigious neighborhoods, and better educational
opportunities based on one having a lighter skin complexion. Since whites have more privileges
in society simply based on the color of their skin, it is common for blacks to want to be white or
be able to at least pass as white. In the short story, Sweetness by the author Toni Morrison, the
character Sweetness faces the struggles of raising a dark skin girl during... Show more content on

Even though her mother was a light skin black woman, she did not want to live her life as a lie,
by living as a white woman. Her mother embraced her blackness, which forced her to find work
as a maid; her employers did not treat her with the same dignity as a white woman would
receive. After seeing what her mother went through for accepting her blackness and living her
life as a black woman, she knew that was not the life she wanted to live. Even though Sweetness
knew she was a black woman, she did not want to face the harsh reality of being one. But how
else can we hold on to a little dignity? How else can we avoid being spit on in a drugstore,
elbowed at the bus stop, having to walk in the gutter to let whites have the whole sidewalk,
being charged a nickel at the grocer s for a paper bag that s free to white shoppers? Let alone all
the name calling. I heard about all of that and much, much more. (Morrison) After hearing about
all of the stories that other blacks went through, Sweetness knew her only way out was to use her
light skin to her advantage. It was not a difficult decision for her to make because she knew all
of the advantages that came with it. By living life as a white woman, Sweetness was able to have
a job at a hospital and live a life that was much easier than her mother s. But after having a dark
skin baby, she knew life as she

Support Group Approach
3 The type of group approach that I would propose The type of group approach I would propose
for this population is a support group. Support groups are an important part of the approach used
in helping the bereaved suffering from grief and loss. An important goal of the support group is to
use mutual aid to help participants understand and accept themselves as they are (Raby,R 2010). .
Mutual aid is sometimes used in a support group to help participants share resources for mutual
benefit. Understanding and acceptance are the first steps towards self help in a group. Support
groups have an overlapping element that includes a therapeutic effect (Wayne Cohen 2001). For
example, participants may help each other understand why an event

Britain s Economic Consequences Of The British Exit From...
Over the last few years, the probability that Britain may leave the EU has grown. Prime Minister
of the United Kingdom David Cameron announced a referendum concerning British membership
in the EU to be held on June 23. Essentially not all the changes, which may occur, can be reduced
to the question of money, since the problem has a strong political context. Still, this essay is
mainly focused on economic aspects of the possible exit. Many experts regard the EU membership
as generally beneficial for the UK; still there are some significant drawbacks. At the same time,
there are factors that limit any possible prediction of the economic consequences of the British exit
from the European Union. Nonetheless, in this work main areas affected by... Show more content on

Most studies assume that movement of capital remains free while movement of labour is usually
not explored. In addition there are also some less important considerations which all together lead to
significant ambiguity for any research in this topic.
One of the most visible benefit of the membership in the EU is the absence of trade tariffs
between its members. However non European markets are becoming more important for British
producers because of the stagnation of the Eurozone economy and economic growth of the other
region especially Asian one. Main claim against membership in the EU is that Britain sells
much more goods to the EU than buys. Still this is barely a good reason to leave the Union.
Mainly the EU s trade surplus is accounted by only two counties: Germany and Netherlands, so
the UK will not be able to dictate its terms after exit (Sprinford, Tilford and Whyte, 2014). In
addition open market with the EU counties boosts the UK s economy providing more labour and
capital for producers. If Britain withdrew from full membership some options may take place in
trading relations. Researchers mostly agree that British exit will directly cut the UK s income
from trade in the case of any not free trade agreements. However, the new free trade agreement
seems likely to take place.
Fiscal contribution is usually regarded as an

Rick, and the doctor are very self loathing and often question whether they re really the good guy.
Another trait they share is that they re not really the likable type. This trait only refers to some of

In The Ghost in the Shell, along with the robots produced, humans are transformed into cyborgs.
When creating a cyborg, the narrator notes that the cyborg is over ninety percent machine... at first
glance it is very difficult to tell the difference between a cyborg and a robot (Shirow 101.2). The
cyborgs are mostly machine, but still have a human brain and spinal cord, which distinguishes them
from a robot. The narrator notes the difficulty in telling the difference between a cyborg and a
robot, which blurs the line between humanity and artificial intelligence. Since cyborgs are part
human and part machine, this shows how machines are becoming more like humans, and visa
versa, since this society can consider a robot a human as long as he or she has the spinal cord and
brain of a human. The line between robot and humans runs very thin, even blurred. Similarly, in
Blade Runner replicants, or robots, are impossible to distinguish, unless they take an eye test. This
test is shown in the first scene of the movie. During the test, a blade runner asks replicant Leon a
series of questions and the blade runner monitors his pupils while Leon is answering (Scott 3). The

  • 2. Cultural Values In Anglo-Saxon Poetry What kinds of cultural values would have contributed to the Anglo Saxon Poetry? The value of valor contributes to the Anglo Saxon poetry and is in Beowulf. Unselfishness also contributes to the culture and shows in the story of The Seafarer . The value of justice in The Wanderer contributes to the poetic characteristics also. These values all contribute to the Anglo Saxon cultureand show how writers back then have a basis to follow for poetic aspects. The valueof valor shows mostly in Beowulfand it contributes to Anglo Saxon poetic culture. Beowulf believes in valor which is right and keeps to the code they follow. He does not use weapons during the fight against Grendel, which is a part of the aspects of valor in the culture. He uses a sword and shield against the dragon, because there was not a code to follow unlike the fight against Grendel, but they prove to be useless in the fight anyway. Beowulf shows valor through fighting the monsters because he needs to be brave against the enemies to be able to express his valiance for what is right. He is strong against Grendel during the battle and uses his hands to rip the arm from the body of the monster. During the battle against the dragon, he is not strong enough to take it on himself, but the valor he shows, by trying his best in the battle brings friends of his to help him defeat it. He keeps his valor strong with the people by defeating the monsters he wants to defeat when he first arrives. No matter the withdrawal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Annotated Bibliography On The Effects Of Aspartame Annotated Bibliography for the Effects of Aspartame Numerous neurological and behavioral side effects have been linked with consuming aspartame at well below the approved safe limits set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Aspartame is an artificial sweetener that has been ingested in the United States for over three decades. Even though there are several studies showing the harmful effects of its consumption. When aspartame is digested several toxic chemicals are produced, most notability formic acid glutamate. Both of these chemicals cause the body to mimic the side effects of multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer. Even the passing of aspartame to be allowed in food was controversial. Phenylalanine can pass through the blood brain barrier and significantly change the production of neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are the chemicals that send signals from one neuron to another. By bonding to a, ...neutral amino acid transporter (NAAT)... (Humphries, Pretorius, NaudГ©, 2008, para. 7) phenylalanine is able to pass through the blood brain barrier. The body also further breaks down phenylalanine to tyrosine when it is processed through the liver. If tyrosine is additionally broken down to dihydroxyphenylalanine and reaches the brain the production of dopamine will be compromised leading to depression like symptoms after the consumption of aspartame. Further cellular breakdowns are additionally explained throughout the article. The two most shocking assertions are the long term effects with consuming high levels of aspartame with increasing the chemical glutamate on the NMDA receptors leading to a decrease in stimulation and neurodegeneration, possibly causing or mimicking the symptoms of the disease Alzheimer s. The second alarming claim made on the effect of long term ingestion of aspartame is when aspartame s temperature exceeds 86 degrees Fahrenheit. As the authors observed, ...the wood alcohol in aspartame is converted into formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. (Humphries, Pretorius, NaudГ©, 2008). • 4. The Characteristics Of Materialism In The American Dream Society is buying objects we do not need, with the money we do not have, to impress people that do not matter. The American Dream is developing into a more materialistic world, a dream in which the dream keeps getting larger and greedier. Materialism is the tendency to think material objects are more important than people; a desire for money over ethics. Today, life shows us that people have a desire for newest, thinnest, updated most expensive smartphone or the more expensive lavish materials. Life shows us that our car is undesirable now, especially when our cars do not hook up with that latest cell phone. Life shows us unrealistic standards of a way to live, yet a huge portion of the people in society appear to be emptying out their wallets. This materialistic culture is a show, a phony act when in society we pretend we are what we are not. We all live in a materialistic society where the majority of people are more worried about what we have than who we are. There is an emphasis on what brand a person is wearing, what car someone is driving, and just how many objects one has, in general. A person must wonder where this hunger and greed comes from and why most Americans fall susceptible to this phenomenon, including me. Materialism is an identity crisis. A person should know what they need, and what they can afford, but seem to have a different driving force which dictates their life. So how come when my cell phone is not in my pocket like I thought, I go into a sense of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Property Values 4 1. What is Heritage Significance? The concept of heritage significance is based upon an idea that a place or an artefact may be historic, scientific, aesthetic or social value for the past, present and future generations. The state of New South Wales has two main types of heritage listings known as conservation areas and heritage items. An item listed as heritage identifies that a place or object has some heritage significance. There are four main permitted lists for heritage listings, for places that are local such as a council district, state wide, Australia wide and internationally. • 13. John Winthrop Speech Ahsi Lo Professor Ruane HUM 2331 US History to 1865: MWF 1 1:50 20 September 2017 Quiz 1 Replacement Assignment 1. John Winthrop s speech to the General Court of Massachusetts explained the Puritan concept of freedom which consisted of natural liberty (doing whatever you want) and moral liberty (doing what is good). In the Massachusetts Bay colony, the Puritans wanted to have the right to worship and govern themselves but had to exercise good moral conduct by obeying religious and government authority. Winthrop explains the idea of freedom with an example of the status of women in society. He states that a woman has the liberty to choose her husband and thus is subject to his authority. So, a woman gets the liberty to choose who rules over her but then must obey everything her husband says. This shows that in the Plymouth and Massachusetts Bay colonies, individuals needed to conform to the colony and practice what the authority wanted them to practice; they had low individuality and women had low status and rights under her husband. The trial of Anne Hutchinson also supports this idea as she was prosecuted for having views that differed and endangered society by holding meetings to discuss religious issues. Hutchinson was brought before the court led by John Winthrop because she seduced honest people in her meetings (Foner 36) thereby dishonoring the commonwealth and disrupting society. Winthrop stated that Hutchinson holding meetings and talking about churches is not fitting of her sex, showing that women were not supposed to discuss Lo 1 religious topics. At the conclusion of the trial, Hutchinson was subjected to being banished from the colony. Though she did not agree with the judgement of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ghetto, trashy, murder, sex, drugs, and many other derogatory words immediately come to mind, when thinking of urban fiction. Although an in depth glance into the mind of the author will show you that it s so much more than that. The authors are painting a picture of reality. There is a mysterious dark matter that binds stars and galaxies together, and this matter might be made up of WIMPS, MACHOS, and axions. Physicists continue searching for dark matter, and particles that make up dark matter. Dark matter has strange characteristics and behaves quite differently from ordinary matter. Understanding dark matter is essential to understanding how the universe behaves. Scientists assume that dark matter is real. Gravitational theory requires dark matter to explain why our universe looks the way it does. Without dark matter in the galaxies, the circular force of the galaxies would push stars out of their orbits and off into space. Scientists also assume dark matter is plentiful. Scientists theorize that there should be five or six times more dark matter than the matter we now detect. Scientists also theorize that dark matter must be made up of particles that obey all or some of the known laws of physics. Scientists have hypothesized that surrounding most galaxies are huge amounts of matter called dark matter. Dark matter is matter that is invisible and does not emit light, heat or radio waves. Dark matter does not interact with ordinary matter, and possibly billions of dark matter particles pass through ordinary matter every minute (Hawking 186 188). After several years of success, the required cuts along with economic woes rendered Proposal A largely ineffective and unable to properly fund Michigan s schools, creating a massive problem in the way Michigan school districts are to be funded, as well as developing a need for new educational policy to supplement or overhaul Proposal A and the Michigan educational system. The educational funding problem in Michigan takes root back in 1809, when the first public school was founded. While funding was not an issue at the time, the way schools were funded through local property taxes eventually created a large problem. Fast forward to 1985, Michigan has long moved past the rural cities of the 1800 s and into affluent suburbs and cities. The size and taxation pools of cities have greatly changed from 1809 to 1985, but the way schools were funded remained exactly the same. This lack of change led to a large disparity in school funding from richer districts to poorer districts. Coupled together with local governments inability to convince citizens to vote in favor of millages and tax hikes, the disparity ballooned. In 1993, Bloomfield Hills ranked in the 99th percentile of Michigan schools, was spending on average $10,294 per student, while Standish Sterling ranked in the bottom 1st percentile, spent $3,738 per student, roughly a $6,500 difference per student (Roy 2003). John Stuart Mill s approach to changing society comes from the viewpoint that after many years of submission and discrimination, women should be treated equally. This conclusion comes from a reflection on past classes of people that were similarly oppressed. Mill looks at similar situations throughout history where one certain group was dominant over another submissive group such as free vs. slave, white vs. black, etc. Mill states but if the principle is true, we ought to act as if we believed it, and not to ordain that to be born a girl instead of a boy, any more than to be born black instead of white, or a... Mill lived in an era when women were seen as a lower class than men by law and custom. They were expected to do nothing more but to marry, bear children, and give up much of their time to their families. In most cases they could not pursue a formal education, own property, vote, or even seek a divorce from an abusive husband. Women lived by having to follow the rules of their masters, their husbands. Mill s case for women s equality reflects his Utilitarian roots. The subjection of women, he argues, is not only wrong in itself but one of the chief hindrances to human improvement. By denying women the same opportunities as men, he says, society not only hinders the development of roughly half the population but denies itself the benefit of their talents. The fact that men are typically superior to women in physical strength leads to the assumption that men are superior to women in all areas, despite the fact that there is no proof to support this claim. This question is meant to make people think about breaking the ordinary. Afterward, the author offers the audience with a benefit of being non traditional and extraordinary, he sings, If one thing I know, how far would I grow? (Nico Vinz). As been chanted, a new, non traditional way could ultimately help us find a new higher limits and beat the old ones. This song wants to beat the ordinary and help people escape traditions to potentially earn better results throughout their daily lives. This is such an amazing benefit! I never knew that this vacation would end up teaching me valuable life lessons. It was the summer of 2014 when I went to Hawaii, and I was so excited because I love traveling and I had always wanted to go there. There is a six hour time difference which was hard to get used to because we ended up landing in Hawaiiat what would have been four in the morning in Ohio. Before we landed in Hawaii, the vacation did not start off very well. When we arrived at the airport in Los Angeles for our connecting flight, we were kept on the plane for almost an hour, even though our layover was only forty five minutes. We knew we did not have much time anyways; but after the delay, we thought we would miss the only flight to Hawaii that night. When we were finally able to get off the plane, a girl around the age of twenty five who was on the flight was yelling at everyone and trying to push everyone out of the way so she could get out first. She ended up getting off the plane before us even though she was sitting in the very back. Because of this, we could not find my brother when we got into the airport. However, the airport security workers were telling us to just run to the gate. At the gate, we found my brother who was already there talking to the flight attendant. They ended up having to delay the flight to let us on. I was surprised ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Analysis Of Sweetness By Toni Morrison In an effort to explain the impact of colorism in black communities, Rita B. Dandridge once stated, In African American culture, class bias is the handmaiden of intraracial prejudice that privileges the near white or light complexioned person over the darker hued. These privileges include more desirable jobs, houses in more prestigious neighborhoods, and better educational opportunities based on one having a lighter skin complexion. Since whites have more privileges in society simply based on the color of their skin, it is common for blacks to want to be white or be able to at least pass as white. After seeing what her mother went through for accepting her blackness and living her life as a black woman, she knew that was not the life she wanted to live. Even though Sweetness knew she was a black woman, she did not want to face the harsh reality of being one. But how else can we hold on to a little dignity? How else can we avoid being spit on in a drugstore, elbowed at the bus stop, having to walk in the gutter to let whites have the whole sidewalk, being charged a nickel at the grocer s for a paper bag that s free to white shoppers? Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Cameron announced a referendum concerning British membership in the EU to be held on June 23. Essentially not all the changes, which may occur, can be reduced to the question of money, since the problem has a strong political context. Still, this essay is mainly focused on economic aspects of the possible exit. Many experts regard the EU membership as generally beneficial for the UK; still there are some significant drawbacks. At the same time, there are factors that limit any possible prediction of the economic consequences of the British exit from the European Union. Nonetheless, in this work main areas affected by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most studies assume that movement of capital remains free while movement of labour is usually not explored. In addition there are also some less important considerations which all together lead to significant ambiguity for any research in this topic. One of the most visible benefit of the membership in the EU is the absence of trade tariffs between its members. However non European markets are becoming more important for British producers because of the stagnation of the Eurozone economy and economic growth of the other region especially Asian one. Main claim against membership in the EU is that Britain sells much more goods to the EU than buys. Still this is barely a good reason to leave the Union. Mainly the EU s trade surplus is accounted by only two counties: Germany and Netherlands, so the UK will not be able to dictate its terms after exit (Sprinford, Tilford and Whyte, 2014). In addition open market with the EU counties boosts the UK s economy providing more labour and capital for producers. If Britain withdrew from full membership some options may take place in trading relations. Researchers mostly agree that British exit will directly cut the UK s income from trade in the case of any not free trade agreements. However, the new free trade agreement seems likely to take place. When creating a cyborg, the narrator notes that the cyborg is over ninety percent machine... at first glance it is very difficult to tell the difference between a cyborg and a robot (Shirow 101.2). The cyborgs are mostly machine, but still have a human brain and spinal cord, which distinguishes them from a robot. The narrator notes the difficulty in telling the difference between a cyborg and a robot, which blurs the line between humanity and artificial intelligence. Since cyborgs are part human and part machine, this shows how machines are becoming more like humans, and visa versa, since this society can consider a robot a human as long as he or she has the spinal cord and brain of a human. The line between robot and humans runs very thin, even blurred. Similarly, in Blade Runner replicants, or robots, are impossible to distinguish, unless they take an eye test. This test is shown in the first scene of the movie. During the test, a blade runner asks replicant Leon a series of questions and the blade runner monitors his pupils while Leon is answering (Scott 3).
