1. How To Write Cause And Effect Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of "How To Write a Cause and Effect Essay" can be a
challenging endeavor. The difficulty arises not just from the need to convey information but also
from the necessity to provide a clear and logical structure that mirrors the very essence of cause
and effect relationships.
Firstly, delving into the topic requires a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental
concepts associated with cause and effect. It demands a thorough exploration of causation, the
identification of primary and secondary causes, and the nuanced relationships between them.
This intellectual groundwork is essential to present a well-informed and credible discussion.
Structuring the essay poses another layer of difficulty. Balancing the cause and effect elements
seamlessly while maintaining coherence throughout the narrative can be a formidable task.
Ensuring a logical flow that guides the reader through the connections without causing confusion
demands meticulous planning and careful execution.
Furthermore, the writer must consider the depth of analysis. Striking the right balance between
depth and conciseness is a tightrope walk. Overburdening the essay with excessive details may
dilute the main points, while being too succinct might result in an incomplete exploration of the
topic.
Moreover, the challenge extends to the writer's ability to synthesize information from various
sources. Conducting thorough research to gather relevant data and examples is pivotal. However,
the task lies not just in accumulating information but in integrating it seamlessly into the essay,
providing a robust foundation for the arguments presented.
In conclusion, composing an essay on "How To Write a Cause and Effect Essay" demands a
blend of intellectual rigor, structural finesse, and effective synthesis of information. It
necessitates a deep dive into the intricacies of cause and effect relationships, careful
consideration of the essay's structure, and the ability to balance depth and conciseness. For those
grappling with such a task, it's worth noting that assistance in crafting similar essays and more

5. appearence and reality Essay
Appearance and Reality
In Chapter One Bertrand Russell basically wants to know the true meaning of
reality . The truth is that reality can never truly be determined. I say this because
there is a difference between believing and actually knowing. For example I know
the desk in the front of the classroom is real. I know this because all of my senses
concur. Now when I try to determine to color, the texture or even the shapeof the desk
I will run into a problem.
Just as the example given in the text, the tables color may look difference according
to the amount of light that is on it. If the amount of light is changed the shade of the
color will also change, therefore making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How can we truly know the feeling, or taste, or sound, or anything of any given
object. If you touch something how do you know you felt it with enough force? If
you taste something how do you know you tasted enough of it? When you hear
something how do you know if you heard right?
Another thing that Bertrand Russell speaks of is illusion. An illusion is an
erroneous perception of reality. This is when the mind plays tricks. An example is
our dreams. When we awake we sometimes aren t sure if what had just happened
was a dream or in fact a real occurrence. Another example which everyone is
familiar with is an optical illusion. When you see something from a distance and its
appearance can be obscure. The closer you find yourself to the obscurity, the less
obscure it seems. If there is a something miles away from you in the distance, your
eyes tell you that there is nothing more than a mere dot. As the dot comes closer you
eventually realize that it was not a dot, but was actually something different all
together. Once again it is nearly impossible to determine the truth . All of our senses
combined must agree upon the final result.
In conclusion it is hard to determine what is real and what is not. Even when
consulting all of our senses what is real can still be questioned. How do I as my
own person know that my senses concur with someone else s senses? One s senses
are determined by the person using
6. Comedy Of Errors By David Lindsay-Abare
Northern Arizona University s Production of Comedy of Errors was, by far the
funniest thing I have ever seen, as far as plays go. Now, I haven t seen very many
plays in person, but it was still hilarious. It was definitely different from the last play
I saw, which was Good People by David Lindsay Abaire. I enjoyed both plays, but for
different reasons. I won t go into detail about Good People, because that was my last
paper. This paper is about Comedy of Errors. If you haven t seen this particular play, I
will tell you a basic plot before I critique the script. The story is about a familythat
was involved in a shipwreck. The family consists of identical twin boys named
Antipholus, their identical twin slaves named Dromio, and their parents.
7. Geico s Core Values Of Integrity, Service, And Growth
I like to think that I exemplify GEICO s core values of integrity, service, and
growth in many ways. Since I believe that each truly goes hand in hand with the
other, I feel it s important to gain an understanding of each individually as a way to
gain the ability to practice each one. Gaining an understanding of each individually
also helps one to show others how they can choose to take on these values, too.
Among values that one should hold close to them, integrity, service, and growth
are among the most important, to me. In my everyday life, I exemplify integrity
by consistently following my moral or ethical convictions and doing the right
thing in all circumstances. To me, having integrity means that I am are true to
myself and would do nothing that demeans or dishonors me. I keep your promises
even if it takes extra effort. I work when I am supposed to and save socializing,
snacking, searching the Internet and personal phone calls for break time. I show
respect to coworkers with appropriate conversation and empathy. I am responsible,
and I do what I say I will do.Similarly, I exemplify service first and foremost by
valuing service. I valueit because not only have I been on the receiving end of
service, but also the giving end of the spectrum, and I value the feeling I can receive
when I am able to help someone in an endeavor. I personally receive the best feeling
when I m helping someone and we are both aware that I cannot gain anything
materialistic from my

Consumer Reports conducted the study, in the article, in an attempt to identify what
hospitals offer the best quality of service, including how safe hospitals are ranked
after surgical procedures. Overall surgery ratings for 27 types of surgeries are
identified in the article, based on a percentage of Medicare patients that die in
hospitals or have their stay in the hospitalextended beyond the original length
expected. The medical based rating were developed statistically working with a
health care consulting firm that specialized in analyzing medical claims and
clinical records. The patient satisfaction information is based upon a survey of
millions of patients regarding recent hospital stays. The patient satisfaction survey
was completed with the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers
and Systems, or HCAHPS. This survey rated overall patient experience based on
the average responses to two survey questions. The percentage of patients who said
they would definitely recommend the hospital; and the percentage of patients who
responded that the hospital received an overall rating of 9 or 10 on a scale of 0 to 10.

Understanding the Ratings Overall The ratings provided in the article are for 2,463
of the United States acute care or critical care type hospitals and the focus is
Medicare type in patient services, and implies that the same care received by other
patients not insured by Medicare at these hospitals. The ratings are
9. Global Population Control and Environmental Policies
Essay
Global population control and environmental policies are the subject of international
controversy. The rate at which human beings are populating the earth and polluting it
are some of the most important factors that face the global society today. As of
March 2009, the world population is about 6.76 billion. With the high rate of
populationincrease, the global population is expected to reach 9 billion by 2040.
With the number of people in the world today and the amount of consumer goods
being purchased and used, these factors present a problem to the state of the
environment in the near future. Over the past 50 years, the world s population has
more than doubled and more than 1 billion of the world s people do not have enough
food to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These figures strike a resemblance to how fast the earth is gaining population.
Many scientists believe that high income nations present a much greater threat to the
ecosystem because there are more people in these countries consuming goods at a
faster rate than low income countries. Ecosystems cannot support high rates of
population growth combined with environmental damage. The carrying capacity of
the earth s ecosystems are being surpassed and the ecosystems of many nations are
being ruined at a very fast pace. The rate at which country s populations are
growing, it will not be very long before many of the carrying capacities are
surpassed. Environmental degradation involves taking natural resources from the
environment and re introducing them to the environment in the form of pollution.
One of the reasons for environmental degradation is greediness. People are trying to
maintain high levels of wealth and do not care at what cost to the environment.
The perfect example of this would be the current situation in Fort McMurray,
Alberta. The land is being stripped of its natural resources everyday and is left
behind a barren land. The rate at which the air is being polluted in Fort McMurray
is triple that of anywhere else in western Canada. People from all over North
America have relocated to Fort McMurray because of the demand of jobs there. Fort
McMurray is
10. The Role Of Bacterial Efflux Cell Resistance And
Therapeutics
The Role of Bacterial Efflux Pumps in Multi Drug Resistance and Therapeutics
Antibiotic resistance is an ongoing critical threat to the health of patients worldwide.
With the advent of mass produced antibiotics, the prevalence of resistance to them
seems to have positively correlated with the increasing amount of different antibiotic
classes available on the market. This means that another method of erradicating these
resistant bacteria must be sought, so not to worsen the situation the world is already
in. This must be implemented sooner rather than later, as already in Europe several
countries have reported MRSA with a level of 50% resistance present (HM
Government, 2014, p.5).

They may do this by different methods including the use of variation of machinery in
the cell.
This report shall mainly be focusing on antibiotic resistance bought about by efflux
pumps and then will go on to how this may be combated.
Efflux mediated Resistance
There are many mechanisms of MDR in Bacteria, but of particular interest is the
role of efflux mediated resistance. Efflux of antibiotics can occur naturally by
bacteria, for example those that produce their own antibacterial mechanism to fend
off competition in the wild. It would also be necessary for a bacteria to be able to
expel their own antibacterial products so not to kill themselves and in turn have
antibacterial effects on competing bacteria.
They would also require the pumps therefore to expel antibacterial chemicals
absorbed which other bacteria in competition with them would produce.
Studies have shown from a random soil collection living strains of streptomyces
presented 60 100% resistance to multiple antibiotics, which suggested antibiotic
resistance genes are present in this habitat in abundance.(D Costa, V.M.,McGrann,
K.M., Hughes, D.W Wright, G.D, 2006). This study backs up the theory therefore
that a lot of antibiotic immunity is integral to the evolution of bacteria.
The effects of this in healthcare can be seen in the infamous MRSA Methicillin
resistant staphylococcus aureus which is not just

Get me a new fucking monitor! Highly Suspect s lead singer and guitarist Johnny

performance had been as bold as Stevens demand. The opening song was a display of
unbelievable rhythmical control that could be appreciated even without knowing the

This is how Stevens drunkenness manifested. His drinking exacerbated his frustration
with the venue he was never given a new monitor and the crowd s tameness. The
introversion of Mom was the result of the band s successful attempt at musical

unwilling to reciprocate energetic expression. As the set progressed, Stevens head
banging and jumping pivoted away from the crowd and towards the Meyer twins.
Stevens, Ryan, and Rich continued to thrash and sway to each other s playing. They
were all profusely sweating, their soaked hair leaking into their already sweat caked
shirts. The inwardness helped the concert evolve into a fascinating experimental jam
session, the band showing versatility unfamiliar to fans of only Mister Asylum.
Stevens launched into a 10 minute blues solo, and Rich followed by singing over a
relaxed blues feel that starkly contrasted the band s typical aggressiveness. However,
Stevens looked increasingly frustrated while playing, clearly craving interaction with

14. Essay On Early Jamestown Settlers
Before the colony of Jamestown first rooted its foundations in the swampy, disease
ridden James riverbanks of Virginia in 1607, the Pamunkey tribe of Native Americans
had already gathered a century of knowledge and expectations of the would be
English conquerors that settled Jamestown. However, the Jamestown settlers proved
an unexpected rival for the Pamunkeys and their powerful emperor Powhatan, and a
force he could not have reckoned with based on his early information. Both the
English and Native leaders met on the James with somewhat condescending
assumptions about each other that led to a long history of wary truce and mutual
prosperity as well as vengeful rivalry and all out war. About a century before the

Although incompetent and struggling at first, and expecting to rely on the natives
for food and assistance in their settlement in their early years, the English still
expected to overpower the Pamunkeys eventually; an event they saw as an
inevitability due to their rapid expansion as a colony. They expected a thriving and
powerful community of natives upon their arrival but also knew they had the
superior weapons and technology. The English wanted to keep their advantages of a
surprising lack of assistance and superior military force, and they trained with
weapons in secret to avoid the Indians gauging their true potential for danger.
As one can imagine, the assumptions on both sides that the other party would be
easily dominated and controlled was grounds for an unstable yet mutually
beneficial relationship at the best, and an all out bloody fight for survival at the
worst. At first, the demand for trade in furs, gold, and pearls in Europe as well as
the Pamunkeys demand for glass beads and useful tools allowed for a truce lasting
for two years that was strengthened by John Smith s and Powhatan s leadership
capabilities and mutual
15. Acadian Natives
Acadians are the descendants of a group of French speaking settlers who migrated
from coastal France in the late sixteenth century to establish a French colony called
Acadia in the maritime provinces of Canada and part of what is now the state of
Maine. Forced out by the British in the mid sixteenth century, a few settlers remained
in Maine, but most resettled in southern Louisianaand are popularly known as Cajuns.
Before 1713, Acadia was a French colony pioneered mostly by settlers from the
coastal provinces of Brittany, Normandy, Picardy, and Poitou a region that suffered
great hardships in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. In 1628,
famine and plague followed the end of a series of religious wars between Catholics
and Protestants. When social tensions in coastal France ripened, more than 10,000
people left for the colony founded by Samuel Champlain in 1604 known as La
Cadie or Acadia. The area, which included what is now Nova Scotia, New Brunswick,
Prince Edward Island, and part of Maine, was one of the first European colonies in
North America. The Company of New France recruited colonists from coastal France
as indentured servants. Fishermen, farmers, and trappers served for five years to
repay the company with their labor for the transportation and materials it had
provided. In the New World,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

furs or grain, Acadians traded illegally; they even traded with New England while

Introduction
Sport is a significant part of this world; it acts as a social construction (DePauw
Gavron, 1995). It offers individuals a time to socialise and build a relationship with
each other. Individuals with disabilities have always been present in society, although
they experienced exclusion and not recognised as a normal person. In terms of sport,
mentally retarded persons were thought to not understand the rules of the sport and
therefore were left out. Physically disabled were thought of not having the ability to
participate and therefore they were excluded from sport participation.
In earlier times, a disability was defined as a person with a physical impairment. In

is an adventure seeker as he explored his surroundings with eyes that appeared to be
thoughtful as his curious little mind absorbed every single inflection of the words
spoken by those who interacted with him and all of this is what I observed within
just the first five minutes of my time spent with Jacey. Over the course of the hour

Jacey did begin to play alongside her, building different designs with the blocks.
This type of play, with building patterns and intention, is what our text book would
call constructive play (Martorell, et al., 2014). As Jacey played, his excitement
grew over what he was creating and every now and then he would speak to his

18. Tanks Advantages And Disadvantages
Tanks are strong combat vehicles that are used worldwide in the front line. These
vehicles are very strong and durable to withstand gunfire from enemy personnel. The
armour is very thick but not thick enough to withstand a large shot from another tank.
Earlier concepts of tanks were very interesting: little hut shaped vehicles that were
made out of wood. These tanks, though made of wood, would still provide protection.
The main idea was very simple. It used an internal combustion engine to move. This
simple design led to the invention of the strong, fast tanks that we have today. The
inventor, Leonardo Da Vinci, is famous for his countless other prototypes. These
prototypes look to be less developed versions of very modern inventions that we ...

Different countries use different tanks as their main attack vehicle. USA uses the

so that troops aren t put in harm s way. This system makes the tank expensive, with
a cost of 6 8 million USD. The UK uses the Challenger 2, a second generation battle
tank. It is used because of its protection against direct fire. The price for this tank is
6.6 million USD. Russia uses the T 90 which is the 3rd generation battle tank. In
total there have been 2,053 t 90s built since 1993. Each one costs around 3 million
USD.
Tanks are used by different countries all over the world, but the main purpose is
always the same: to try to win a war or battle. Tanks have evolved from moving at a
top speed of 4kmph to 60kmph. How far will the development of tanks go? Will we
need tanks more or less in the future? Let us hope the need for these will reduce as

19. Myths And Myths Of The Greek World
A myth is a traditional story, concerning the early history of people or explaining a
natural or social phenomenon; they typically involve supernatural being or events
(Dictionary.com, 2016). Myths certainly had a simple aesthetic function of
entertainment; they were presented through the means of visual and theatrical art
(Cartwright. M, 2012). Myths provided advice on how to lead a good life. Some
myths were purposely composed to be outrageous and wrong because it taught the
people what not to do. Myths, however, were also thought to be a reflection of the
Greek s way of thinking; this was depicted through them portraying their deities as
humans, giving them human traits (Vandiver. E, 2000). Myths explained the
environment in which humankind lived in and the natural phenomena they witnessed
(Vandiver. E, 2000). They were also intricately connected to religion in the Greek
world and explained the origin of Gods and where humanity had come from and

and also shocked people into behaving. Myths were represented in visual art on
sculptures, pottery, and even public buildings and were also prominent in within
theatres in plays written by famous playwrights like Sophocles, Euripides and

Gods with undesirable traits. These myths all contained morals that shocked the

20. Inside The Bottle
The story revolves around Garrett who grieved over the death of his wife,
Catherine. As a way of release, he put his sadness into words by writing love letters
addressed to his late wife, then place them in a bottle and throw them out in the sea.
And Theresa Osborne, a 36 year old mother of one named Kevin and a divorcee, is a
Boston newspaper columnist. This book tells of a lovethat is everlasting and
unbreakable.
The story begins when Theresa finds a bottle on the shore of Cape Cod, a beach
where she is in for a vacation along with her editor and a dear friend, Deanna. Inside
the bottle is a love letter written for a woman named Catherine by a man named
Garrett. Theresa instantly got interested to find out who s who (Garrett and Catherine).

The plot was very well written and was easy to be understood. The story was sad,
tragic, distressing and a definite tear jerker. The characters were more human, they
were much more flawed, but real. I do like and admire Theresa because of her
attitude towards taking care of Kevin, her son. It showed her undying love and
passion because even though she is a single parent, she still managed to raise her
son. I also like Garrett because he showed how devoted he is to his ex wife
Catherine. He has a very truthful and real attitude just like his well written letters.
The character that I love the most is Jeb Blake, Garret s father. Even though he
only had few exposures in the book, I learned a lot from him especially with his
fatherly advice, his words of wisdom. I can relate to it because just like Garret, I
have a father who likes giving advices, who always remind what and what not to
do. If I were to choose a third main character it would definitely be Catherine.
Although, she was already dead, everything in the novel was because of her, about
her, for the sake of

With the crucial shift in the relationship between the artist and the patron to the
ultimate change of demand between quality of materials and quality of skill,
Baxandall illustrates the impact of the Renaissance s resurfaced humanistic outlook
on art. Baxandall illustrates this major transition in Italian art by utilizing letters and
contracts used to showcase the demands of the rich such as in Florentine Ghirlandaio
s contract requesting ultramarine. The Italian Renaissanceis often attributed as the
major contributor to Western art with its Greco Roman influences and its resulting
humanism that oversaw the aforementioned changes of demand in the art world.

Before the contemporary concept of brand, art prior to the Renaissance age was seen
similar to carpentry. Artists were regarded no more than a jeweler, reflected in the
contracts common in the time such as the agreement between Ghirlandaio and the
Florentine Prior of the Spedale degli Innocenti. It seemed like the consumption of art
before the blossoming appreciation of art was ascetic without actually being overtly
religious; with Florence and other Italian city states ruling financially and the
Church cracking, it was logical that material goods was more favorable than the
skill itself. The contract entails an exact description of what Ghirlandaio was to
paint as well as an explicit description of the materials to be used and his
compensation. Such a contract was incredibly common in the renaissance; the star
was the ultramarine or gold rather than the signature at the bottom of the painting.
Baxandall affirms the process was made on a bespoke basis, the client [asked] for
his own specifications (Baxandall 1) similar to ready made art or furniture found in
modern day society. There was little room for creating with the exact specifications

23. Lysistrata, By Euripides And Lysistrata Essay
Lysistrata was written in ancient Greece, a time where women s position in society
was no greater than a servant. In Lysistrata, Aristophanes depicts Greek women
challenging male authority through their own femininity in a comic and light
hearted way. Wether or not Aristophanes was trying to challenge male authority or
was simply making a joke out of women is unclear, but it is easy to note what
ancient Greeks thought of women simply by how they depicted in Lysistrata.
Throughout the play the women are frequently presented in a stereotypical manner
of inferiority to the men. Even the female protagonist, Lysistrata, describes women
as a submissive sexually driven being. In the first scene, Lysistrata castigates the
women for not showing interest and commitment to her call to action. She says
Women! Announce a debauch in honor of Bacchos/...and traffic stops the streets
are absolutely clogged/with frantic females...No urging for an orgy! But today
there s not one woman here! Lysistrata is portrayed to be less feminine and
mysogynistic, which leaves me to wonder wether that would have been the only
acceptable way to be able to have a successful play with a female lead character.
Lysistrata s neighbor, Cleonice, continuous to describe the women in a stereotypical
fashion, Oh! they will come, my dear; but it s not easy, you know, for women to
leave the house. One is busy pottering about her husband; another is getting the
servant up; a third is putting her child asleep or

How did college basketball form and how has it changed over the years?
Basketball is one of the most watched or frequently played sport in history, on top
of soccer, football, or baseball. In this essay, I will answer the question, and tell
about some important events in basketball history. Basketball started in 1891. It
has now grown into one of the most popular sports in history. Basketball was
invented in December 1891 by Canadian James W. Naismith. An instructor at the
YMCA Training School in Massachusetts, he sought a suitable indoor game to keep
his students fit and warm during the cold New England winters. With wire mesh
backboards. He formulated 13 rules, most of which still apply today. In 1893, the

by shooting a ball through a hoop elevated 10 feet above the ground. The game is

court is divided into two main sections by the mid court line. If the offensive team
puts the ball into play behind the mid court line, it has ten seconds to get the ball

offensive team gets the ball over the mid court line, it can no longer have possession

Renaissance Art in Europe
Michelangelo s Creation of Eve
To the average person, Michelangelo s Sistine Ceiling is renowned for its grandeur,
its dense scenes, but especially its iconic Creation of Adam. After all, Vasari
described Michelangelo s Adam as a figure whose beauty, pose, and contours are of
such a quality that he seems newly created by his Supreme and First Creator rather
than by the brush and design of a mere mortal (Varghese 191 192). And while this is
true, while the attention drawing Creation of Adam is immortally beautiful and the

The presence of allegories is a common trend of Michelangelo s, and points to
significant conclusions, as clear with the Creation of Eve. The symbolism of the
Church can further be recognized within the very scene of the painting. It is claimed
that the creation of Eve from Adam s rib... alluded to the birth of the Church from
the blood that had flowed out of the side of the crucified Christ (Shearman, Winner
98). Just like when God took a rib from sleeping Adam to create the woman, Christ
gave humanity his blood and water after his death to create the Church. Beyond this,
right besides the Creation of Eve in the center lies the Cumaean Sibyl, additional
evidence of Michelangelo s strategic placement and symbolism. H. von Einem has
demonstrated that the Prophets and Sibyls...are connected with the theme of the
Virgin Mary, but the Cumaean Sibyl is especially connected (The Sistine Chapel41).
Cumae is the most famous of the Sibyls for predicting the birth of a Saviour,
interpreted in Christian times as a prediction of the birth of Christ (Varghese 213).
Men and women of the Renaissance endorsed the opinion that she foretold in the
birth of Christ, establishing a connection and support between her and the common
man. Additionally, her immensely muscular anatomy

is more to this canyon though than the rocks, as it is still active as a forever
changing landform, due to the power of running water. The Colorado Riverhas carved
out the Grand Canyon in just the last nine million years. In fact, the river itself
carries about half a million tons of sediment through the Grand Canyon each and
every day. There are a number of different river types that will be talked about, and
how exactly they have effected their environment and made changes in the

Zonation is the distribution of animals and plants into specific zones according to
abiotic factors and characterised by its dominant species [15]. Mangrove zonation is
the distinguishable categorisation of a mangrove ecosystem that extends from shore
to inland regions. Definitive spatial variation of mangrovespecies has been
recognised amongst different ecosystems worldwide and is accredited as being
influenced by abiotic and environmental factors [16]. In Eastern Australia, the
majority of mangrove forests may be divided into landward, middle and seaward

At Nudgee Beach, erosion was found to have occurred on the edges of the
mangrove forest and along the mudflat shorelines. Erosion is typically influenced
by natural factors and occurs when pieces of weathered rock or soil are moved
typically by wind and water from one place to another. Shorelines with lots of
sediment and sand are more inclined to be effected by erosional progression.
Erosion may also be provoked and accelerated by human interference. For example,
if the decision to clear trees and plants from an area is made, erosion is likely to
occur as the root systems of plants work to hold the soil in place. If these root
systems are removed and erosion does occur, environmental conditions such as;
landslides and flooding are more likely to take place. Erosion may also cause other
plants to tip over, have their underground roots exposed and damaged and contribute
to the pollution of local waters; as a result of mud and soil runoff [26]. Erosion at
Nudgee Beach was likely to have been influenced by natural factors; however, the
development and extension of the Kedron Brook golfing course may contribute to the
acceleration of erosional processes and further damage the mangrove
32. Wilfred Owen s Use Of Personification In Anthem For
Doomed...
War is not heroic. War is sickness, struggle, and death. This is the message that poet
and World War I soldier Wilfred Owen wanted to instill in his people back home.
Those back home talked of glory and national pride and rooted for their soldiers,
however, they were unaware of the horrors these soldiers witnessed and experienced.
The soldiers and their people back home were not only separated by distance but by
mental barriers, which Owen showcases in his poetry. Owen s use of personification
in Anthem for Doomed Youth degrades the soldiers to objects to show how the war
dehumanized them to intentionally create a disconnect between the audience and the
soldiers. Owen manifests the soldiers ferocious emotions through their guns to
demonstrate the dehumanization they experienced when killing someone. When
Wilfred says What passing bells for these who die as cattle? / Only the monstrous
anger of the guns, it strips the soldiers of their identity and humanity just as killing
someone in war did to them (1 2). By taking away the soldiers identities and
channeling their emotions through their weaponry and deeming them monstrous it
makes it more difficult for the audience to develop a personal connection to the
soldiers and their feelings, which is exactly what Owen wants. People back home
during the war could not possibly relate or put themselves in the shoes of these
soldiers, which Owen highlights to the reader through this method. To be able to kill
someone, they had

involved an after school boat building team. Every year, the Metropolitan Water
District of Southern California holds an event called the Solar Cupeach year at Lake
Skinner. This event involves many schools throughout California that form teams
to build a boat that can be powered by solar. My team was formed with the
combination of three high schools, Tahquitz, West Valley, and Western Center
Academy. On the first day I had the opportunity to meet new people from the
different schools. This gave me the chance to create bonds with new people. It all

also needed to be done so that the organizers can know what components are going
to be involved with the boat. I did the technical report which involved having the
information of each component of the boat, whether that be the design of the boat or
the materials being used for the boat. I had to make sure that each detail of the tech
report was good so that I can start on building the boat with my team. After our tech
report was done, the building process of the boat began. Throughout the whole

36. Proposal For Implementing A Formal Mentoring Program
Essay
MEMORANDUM

SUBJECT:Proposal to Implement a Formal Mentoring Program
Attached is the proposal to implement a mentoring program at Anderson, Lower,
Whitlow P.C. In early summer, ALW hired fifteen recently graduated individuals and
12 have already taken positions at other firms. There needs to be a system in place to
develop and foster relationships for these individuals within the firm. This firm has a
high turnover rate of new hires; currently, the turnover rate is 85%. Firms that are
considered the Big Four are offering mentoring programs that make their employees
invested in the company s future. Unfortunately, if ALW does not start to compete
with this issue, more employees will be lost to the Big Four Firms.
Implementing a strong mentoring program that fosters individual and personal
growth within the company is vital for the future of this firm. This includes setting up
and maintaining a mentoring program. The mentoring program will be set up with
individuals from all levels of achievement, that are willing to devote a portion of their
time to the firm s prosperity.
Investing in the future of this firm, through a formal mentoring program is a vital
step. I look forward to working with you throughout this process. I can be reached at

Thank you for your time.
37. Functionalist View On Gender
As society proceeds through time, thoughts and positions in relation to gender
generated several discussions among sociologists, as there are several angles that it
can be approached. In that sense, functionalism perceives gender inequality and sex
roles as a beneficial way to reinforce the division of labor within society. On the
other hand, symbolic interactionism can be portrayed as a critique, on a way that it
perceives genderas something comprehended by the individual self.
The concept of gender was debated and changed throughout time. The traditional
logic on such concept regards a binary division, meaning, something that divides in
opposites, for instance male and female. From this point of view, human beings
are born with biologic characteristics that define if an individual as male or female,
the biological sex, and that each of these extremes acts and behaves in a specific
way. However, that is not the only factor when describing an individual. Gender, in
a sociological perspective is understood as a social position in which a person
identifies with certain traits of the imposed biological sexes. A set of social
arrangements that are used to differentiate people in a collective context, taking into
account historical and cultural patterns attributed to men and women . Since gender
is a social role, it can be constructed and deconstructed, meaning that it can be
understood as mutable and unlimited. Considering that it is based on a social
background some cultures have extremely specific gender roles.
The functionalist view in relation to gender inequality was largely developed by
Talcott Parson in the 1940 s and 1950 s, in which the model of the nuclear family
was developed. The theory suggests that inequality exist as an efficient way to
create a division of labor . Such division works to maximize resources and
efficiency. A functionalist concept of gender inequality would take place in a
common assumption, the nuclear family, which describes women to perform their
sex roles of wives/mothers, and men as breadwinners. Such roles, implemented in a
society, would define the working functions of each gender. Such perspective views
society as a complex system whose parts work in conjunction to favor

beautiful family, a lovely house, and friends to play games like bridge with in the

hits his side after slipping by making bad step on a ladder. He convinces himself
that it is only a bruise, and that the pain will pass. The pain doesn t simply pass,
though. Doctor after doctor attempts to diagnose what might possibly be wrong
with him, but none of them are able to agree on what his injury is. As he continues
to live his life as he planned, the sensation of pain continues to come back to him
repeatedly until he is eventually on his deathbed. As he realizes he is approaching
the very end of his life, Ivan Ilych ponders over his life and begins to question
himself, asking What if my whole life has been wrong? (Tolstoy 54). He comes to the
conclusion that the things that are important are not tangible items such as money or
property. Rather, he decides that the things that truly matter in life are intangible,
such as happiness, compassion, and facing the truth. He realizes too late that these
important feelings and concepts have been missing from his life all along.
Throughout his life, Ivan Ilych worried about what others would think of him. He

regions and territories, and they are a very important part of education for the youth.
Some ceremonies for the youth ages of 10 16 were a rite of passage because the
rituals would represent a point of transition from childhood to adulthood. Most of
these ceremonies include a combination of song, dance, rituals, and body decoration
and costume. The Elders would organize and run the rituals and ceremonies that were
designed to teach spiritual beliefs and survival skills. Marriage ceremonies included
the Aboriginal people in body paint and they would wear traditional headdresses....

The ceremonial dresses can vary from region to region but usually includes body
paint, ornamental coverings, and brightly colored feathers. The body decoration is
said to be related to kin and other relationships. Some of the Australian groups hold
their dances secret and sacred. Also, gender was very important in some of the
ceremonies, men and women would have separate ceremonial traditions. Many of
their ceremonies took place on stages so it could be a part of a longer process
lasting over many years. Ceremonies around death would vary, depending on the
person and the group, they could go on for months or even years. Aboriginal
people would perform funeral ceremonies because the death of a person can be
very important. The people would paint themselves white and they would cut or
wound their own bodies to show their sorrow for the loss of the loved one. The
Aboriginal people conduct a series of dances, rituals, and songs to safeguard as the
spirit leaves the area and returns to its birth
40. Descriptive Essay On Scrooge
Overly grumpy and has extortionate avarice, this is Scrooge. Scrooge may also be
malcontent, and he is this little miserly ol curmudgeon. Happiness, kindness, and
Christmas, Scrooge hates, until a clique of three apparitions comes and shows him
otherwise. May I also add the fact that Scrooge is not very liberal, instead he is
odious, and misanthropic. This man was a miserable, depressed, heavy hearted
man. According to the text, no one ever stopped Scrooge in the street to say, with a
gladsome look, My dear Scrooge, how are you? When will you come to see me?
Scrooge has an unfortunate reputation of being antisocial, depressed, negative,
untrustworthy. Extremely uncaring, and thoughtless to the poor people, Scrooge is,
as he thinks there is a jail for poor people. In general, Scrooge is just very negative.
The triplet of ghosts comes to show Scrooge the reasons of why it is bad to be
negative, antisocial, and untrustworthy. Also, Scrooge is very much a gargantuan
jerk. The three ghosts give Scrooge a last chance to change his unfortunate, bad
reputation into a fortunate, positive reputation. The first of the three spirits was the
spirit of Christmaspast. The spirit of Christmas past took ol dolorous Scrooge to see
his past childhood. The text states that they passed through Scrooge s wall, and
stood upon an open country road, with fields on either end. This city had vanished
in present time. Good Heaven! Said Scrooge, clasping his hands together, as he
looked about him. I was bred in this place, I was a boy here. The significance is
that Scrooge learns to not be such a gargantuan jerk. Scrooge s feelings are as if he
is being tortured by the spirit of Christmas past. As you would expect, Scrooge hated
watching his childhood past, and begs the spirit of Christmas past to dispel him from
his childhood. Scrooge very much is gargantuanly odious of watching his childhood,
as he cannot bear it. The ghost of Christmas past takes Scrooge back.
Scrooge wakes up, as it is about to be one o clock. It already has happened once, so
Scrooge is used to all of it now, so he stays calm, as he pulls apart the bed curtains all
by himself, and Scrooge also prepares to not freak out this time, though, nothing
happens.
41. Truman s Vision Statement
When I enrolled at Truman State University, I did not realize how my race
impacted me on both a personal and global level. I believed we lived in a post
racial society where race and ethnicity did not matter. However, on Monday,
November 24th, 2014, when officer Darren Wilson was not indicted for the killing
of Michael Brown, I experienced an epiphany. Race matters. Whether an individual
believes that race did or did not play a role in Michael Brown s death, race was
reignited as a prominent topic in America due to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Roland Martin, the host of News One Now, stated in an interview that The reason
Black Lives Matter has been so successful is because they have forced the most
rigorous discussion on police brutality... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Klyukovski, I pondered how my institution dealt with diversity. He proposed
examining Truman s vision statement to understand what the institution will do
when issues of diversity arise. After conducting some preliminary research on
vision statements and generic criticism, I knew this is what I wanted to study. I
was ecstatic that I was able to add to the scholarly conversation centered on vision
statements within higher education. It was incredible learning how such a short
statement served as a reminder of where an organization wants to go. During the
McNair program, I discovered a part of me that I never knew existed, a researcher.
I never thought of myself as that because I believed researchers were naturally
smart, which I was not. However, intelligence is not determined by grades or GPA.
It is about grit, which I gained by never being the victim of my circumstances. As
mentioned earlier, coming to terms with my racial identity definitely impacted my
academics. While I was enraged by Truman s aura, I realized I could not let that
take away from my mental energy anymore. With the arrival of my senior year, I
channeled all that frustration in graduate applications and studies because unless I
did well in those two avenues, I would not be leaving Truman anytime soon. Now, I
have been accepted into five different Master Programs (as of 3/18) at the University
of Texas San Antonio, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, University of Colorado
Denver and Colorado Springs and Saint Louis
