Male Dominance In The Catbird Seat
Throughout history, it is of no surprise that men dominate in a majority of environments. Though
women made a movement to gain social and political rights during the nineteenth century, it was not
entirely successful. Women have begun to gain a larger percentage of the workforce yet men continue
to uphold dominance. In the short story The Catbird Seat , James Thurber write about how men have a
known superiority over women in the workplace by describing the relationship between Mr. Fitweiler
and Mrs. Barrows. The first time during the short story that Mr. Fitweiler has shown superiority over
Mrs. Barrows is at a party when the two originally meet. Mrs. Barrows took Mr. Fitweiler away from
the numerous men he was in conversation with. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fitweiler s superiority is shown over Mrs. Barrows is when he requests very little information from
Mr. Martin about the accusations against himself. Mrs. Barrows stormed into Mr. Fitweiler s office the
morning after Mr. Martin arrived at Mrs. Barrows home. Mrs. Barrows warned Mr. Fitweiler of the
things Mr. Martin had threatened the night before, but it was of no avail because Mr. Fitweiler had to
protect himself, not Mrs. Barrows. Mr. Fitweiler was incredibly worried that the affair would become
known; he had to do whatever possible to keep this from being revealed. The head of the filing
department, neat, quiet, attentive, stood in front of the old man s desk. Mr. Fitweiler was pale and
nervous. (5). This quote shows how concerned Mr. Fitweiler truly was about anyone discovering his
relationship with Mrs. Barrows. When Mr. Fitweiler brings Mr. Martin in his office to inform him on
what Mrs. Barrows had just accused him of, Mr. Fitweiler asks for very little information and a
minuscule amount of details to support his alibi. Mr. Martin did not lie when telling of his night, he
simply left of the most crucial events. Mr. Martin left out events that would have aided in Mrs.
Barrows being rescued of being made a complete fool of. Mr. Fitweiler is also much more
compassionate when talking with Mr. Martin as compared to Mrs. Barrows. When Mrs. Barrows
walked into her boss office, immediately the room was filled with shouting that could be

Symbolism In Cathedral By Raymond Carver
Symbolism plays a big role in the short story by Raymond Carver because only towards the end of the
story we find out why the story is called Cathedral. The short story is called Cathedral because as the
narrator and Robert, the blind man, are watching television Robert asks the narrator to describe him
what a cathedral looks like since he has never been able to see one. However, because the narrator
stated that he does not believe in something in particular, to him a cathedral is just a building that took
about a hundred years to build and that they are very big and made of stone. But because Robert is not
physically capable of seeing one for himself, the narrators description isn t helping too much. Then
Robert had given the suggestion

The Use Of Suspense Techniques In Eye Contact

with a woman taking a job on a trail up to a lighthouse. She appears to be running in a remote part of a
forest. However, a second mysterious character comes into view when the woman spots him staying
up at her. Once making it to the lighthouse, where she had been moments before. The film
incorporates elements of story like a suspenseful plot, eerie setting, as well as a man versus man

Walker and Avant (2011) state that attributes appear in the literature when describing the concept and
are used to differentiate the concept from other concepts. After comprehensive review of the literature

(1) localized physical suffering associated with bodily injury; (2) a basic bodily sensation induced by
noxious stimulus, received by naked nerve ending, characterized by physical discomfort; (3) highly
unpleasant physical sensation caused by illness or injury; whatever the patient says it is, existing

A model case for the concept of pain follows:
Paula is a 66 year old, married white female, admitted to the hospital for elective back surgery. She
was two hours post operative and had just returned from the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). When
the nurse entered the room to assess her, Paula was curled up in the middle of the bed on her right
side. She had the button for her Patient Controlled Anesthesia Pump (PCA) clenched in her fist. The
nurse noted Paula s positon in bed and offered to reposition her. Paula stated that she did not want to
move. She was moaning, and had facial grimacing. Her blood pressure and pulses were elevated. The
nurse recognized that Paula was in pain, and asked her to rate her pain using the Numerical Rating
Scale (NRS). Paula rated her pain nine on a scale of zero to 10. The nurse educated Paula on how to
use her PCA pump, and gave her a dose of medication that she had for break through pain. An hour
later, the nurse went back to Paula s room to reassess her pain. She was lying in bed with her head
elevated on a pillow, and she was watching television. Her blood pressure and pulse had returned to

Form Of Political Participation
Brooke Syer
Professor Becker
PSCI 180 46272
16 July 2017
Political Participation For many American citizens, one of the great aspects of our culture is the ability
individuals have to take part in the political system. Whether it be voting for a new president,
participating in a protest or serving their jury duty, the American people can be certain they will have
an impact on the outcomes. Like numerous other people, there is a sense of pride and importance to
contribute to their community as well as be active members of society. These activities are specifically
called political participation. There are many forms of political participation such as voting,
protesting, town hall meetings, and jury duty.
Voting is commonly thought to be the single most important form of political participation. It is a
unique political act because it allows for the views of more people to be represented than any other
form of political participation. Every citizen over the age of eighteen is allowed one vote and must
register beforehand. Voter turnout depends on what type of election is occurring. There is a large
number of elections going on every year such as general elections, local elections, and statewide
offices. The presidential election is the one that has the best turnout but even then it is still not that
high. Many people see it as an individual s duty to their country to vote but this can also depend on the
region someone lives in. Some areas have an established respect for

Jesus Prayer Analysis
Précis
The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God by Frederica Mathewes
Green
Paul Forbes
PHIL 231: Practical Wisdom Lab I
September 11, 2017
Reading Assignment: I read one hundred percent of the assigned book, The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient
Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God by Frederica Mathewes Green.
Précis
During the second through fifth century men and women, known as the Desert Fathers and Mothers
relocated to the deserts of Palestine and Egypt and fully devoted themselves to being in constant
communion with God. In their prolific writings, they explained that they were motivated, in part, by
Paul s admonition to pray without ceasing (see Romans 12:12, Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 4:2, I
Thessalonians 5:17). Reasoning that if he repeated this admonition to four bodies of Christians then he
believed that this depth of connection with God was attainable.
Frederica Mathewes Green has written a concise book explaining these early Desert Christian s quest
to pray without ceasing as an avenue to be in constant communion with God. The first third of her
book, The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God, offers a brief history,
theology, and spirituality of Orthodoxy to introduce the prayer practice commonly referred to as the
Jesus Prayer. The last two thirds uses a conversational question and answer format that takes the
reader through practical steps for adopting this prayer into their daily life.
A main focus of the book explains how Christians can use the Jesus Prayer to overcome one of the
biggest obstacles to prayer, which is the steady stream of thoughts, inner conversations, and emotions
that disrupt the mind and keep it unsettled. Remarkably, they discovered that intrusive distractions
during periods of prayer could be cured with a substitute thought a single, simple thought of prayer.
After experimenting with various short scriptures and petitions, this prayer, rooted in Scripture
emerged, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me.
Thus, the Jesus Prayer is drawn from passages in the Gospels where people called on Jesus for mercy.
Specifically, the ten lepers, recorded in Luke 17:13, cried out, Jesus,

Pros And Cons Of LASIK Eye Surgery
A study on the correction of short and long sighted by LASIK eye surgery
Introduction
LASIK Eye Surgery (LASIK for the rest of the essay) is short for Laser Assisted In Situ
Keratomileusis Eye Surgery. Nowadays, as the rapid development and the strong advocating of the
LASIK, there are more than 100 thousand people in China take the LASIK every year. Although it
provides a huge benefit to those people wearing glasses, some people still think LASIK as the damage
to our eyes. In my opinion, LASIK outweighs the disadvantages. Next, I m going to extend and prove
my conclusion based on these aspects: the duration and the procedure of the surgery, the subject range
of the surgery, the effects after the surgery and the applications of the surgery nowadays.
Body
LASIK Eye Surgery, as known as the savior of the short and long sighted, is a surgery that uses the
laser which combines fluorine and argon that would not be able to see by human eyes. The laser
wouldn t penetrate our eyes. It is used to gasify part of our cornea and wouldn t hurt other organs of
our body. Next, I will prove my conclusion: LASIK outweighs the disadvantages from 4 aspects.
Firstly, the LASIK wouldn t cost a lot of time. The surgery for each eye would take 10 to 15 minutes
to perform. So, it would take about 20 30 minutes for the whole surgery process, which means people
could take the surgery after work and then the next day, he can go back to work again. We don t need
to ask for a leave to take the LASIK,

The Poetry of Wallace Stevens
Though Wallace Stevens commonly uses a blank verse writing style in his poetry, staying true to the
style s definition of unrhymed lines with consistent meter, Sunday Morning differs from the poet s
other work as he maintains consistency in stanza structure as well. Here, each of the eight stanzas
consists of 15 feet and contain 10 beats per line (classic iambic pentameter). This extremely organized
structure seems ironic, as the poem s theme involves the death of Christianity and organized religion.
However, it also lends to Stevens message of the importance of life and death, and the immaculate
nature and consistency seen in earth s life cycles. Sunday Morning is an example of Wallace Stevens
romantic period writing style, as he articulates the human connection to nature and the existence of
spirituality within ones physical surroundings.
The uncompromising structure of the poem provides a meditative rhythm (showing Stevens
connection to Milton and the romanic era) as the speaker reflects on the relationship between oneself
and the natural environment. Simultaneously, Stevens use of blank verse and inclusion of both
enjambments and end stopped lines allows for artistic exploration, mirroring a human thought pattern
and the speaker s mental exploration of personal beliefs. The syntax resembles a racing mind, as the
sentence structure is the only aspect of the poem that does not follow a strict pattern. This is evident as
the speaker ponders a Pagan perspective,

Massage Therapy Is So Popular Today
Massage therapy is so popular today. Looking in any yellow pages will give proof that. Evidently,
more and more people are training to get into the field. The pay is pretty good, considering that in
Tennessee, good massage therapists get anywhere from $50 to $100 and hour for their work. A half
hour will give you around $30 $50. This isn t bad, but people need to consider what s involved and the
expenses that are inevitably going to be incurred. Massage therapy is really for strong people who
have good hands. Because the arms and hands are so intensely used, there will be constant strain on
these areas. It s best to know that any occupation involving repetitive movement stands a high chance
of damaging nerves or muscles in the part of the body used the most. Many training schools also teach
self therapy and exercises to minimize that risk. Nobody can predict arthritis, but that may be one side
effect of continued flexing of the muscles of the hands. Naturally, its not wise to get into this business
if one has any problems with those parts of the body. Cost has to be considered. A good massage
school costs money and time. Massage school can take two years to complete, combined with ongoing
training necessary for keeping up the certification. Certification alone incurs a yearly fee. People
getting into any profession also need to keep careful books so as to balance their profits against
expenses. They can deduct the maximum for the oils, equipment, music tapes, books,

and just enjoy soaking in the stadium and atmosphere.
Pre Race MC:

field. I am not really a huge fan of the stadium races because after a while it just all looks the same to

This stadium race wasn t much different than the others, it included many of the standard Sprint
obstacles and several obstacles unique to the stadium series. The course included several carry
obstacles, like the sandbag, water jug and Atlas carries which were all placed in good spots throughout
the course. The challenges/obstacles unique to the stadium races included a heavy rope jump rope, a
medicine ball slam, box jumps, and the Rolling Epic, which is a short distance crawl with your feet on
a little rolling device.
Some of the other obstacles on the course included: Z Walls, Rope Climb, Cargo Net, the typical
various height walls, the always fun Multi Rig, a heavy hanging bag obstacle called Gladiator to

The Cycle Of The Hydrologic Cycle
The hydrologic cycle, also known as the water cycle, is a continuous rotation of water changing states
through the Earth, ocean and atmosphere in a circulating system (Watts Forbes, 2011; US Department
of Commerce, n.d; National Geographic Society, 2013). The water cycle alters throughout different
locations due to weather patterns and climate around the world (Watts Forbes, 2011). The major
processes that make up the hydrologic cycle are evaporation, transpiration, condensation,
precipitation, and runoff, with many further processes as seen in Appendix 1.1 and simplified in
Appendix 1.2.
Evaporation
Evaporation, in general, involves a substance changing its physical state from a liquid to a gas (US
Department of Commerce, n.d; National Geographic Society, 2013; Northwest River Forecast Centre
[NRFC], n.d). An example of this is when the body heats up during exercise or due to temperature,
and releases sweat to try and cool down and producing water onto the skin (US Department of
Commerce, n.d). Energy is required for evaporation to occur, and this energy source can come from
the atmosphere, entities such humans, or in the case of the water cycle, the sun is the source of energy
(US Department of Commerce, n.d). During the hydrologic cycle, evaporation occurs when the sun
interacts with liquid water such has lakes and rivers, the ocean and soil, to cause water particles to
become water vapour by heating the water (National Geographic Society, n.d; Miller Spoolman,

East Rock Community Magnet School
The teacher I interviewed for this project was a fifth grade teacher, Mr. Keith Wolkovitz. This teacher
has been teaching at East Rock Community Magnet School for his entire career of eleven years. East
Rock Community Magnet School is a Title I school in the New Haven School District. The school has
a very diverse population and over 90% of the students qualify for the free reduced lunch program. As
a Title I school, the school is also mandated by the state to implement certain remedial interventions to
improve students academic scores.
Analysis
During our interview, Mr. Wolkovitz described most of the at risk students at East Rock Community
Magnet School as a student who is struggling in one or more aspect of learning . This response is
seemingly broad, however, I believe that he would define an at risk student as being someone that is
academically behind the other students in at least one content area: mathematics, reading, writing,
science or social studies. Mr. Wolkovitz also suggested that the students receiving special education
services are also included in his definition of an at risk student. This response seems quite appropriate
considering the grade level of students that Mr. Wolkovitz works with. Students do start showing some
signs of being at risk in elementary school; however, most of the early warning signs are centered on
their academic performance. Younger students are not as likely to be truant, engaged in risky or
criminal behavior, or have family

The music industry seems to allow very minimal Black cultural contribution to even do that, as
opposed to the history of American music has told the same story over many times whereas African

mainstream appeal. This trend can be seen in everything from Rock n Roll, Country music, Pop music
to more recently Hip Hop and RnB where white artists like Iggy Azalea, Macklemore, Robin Thicke
and Justin Timberlake dominates today s Hip Hop/R B charts. White people may be able to participate
in or appropriate Black styles, but they rarely innovate or enhance them, so the genre slowly withers

source of income to stay on top, and this goes back to back in the early eras when Euro Americans

Radha, as the only one of all the characters in the novels is a true representing of the modern Indian

This dilemma is inevitably the theme of the novel and Saadiya s pursuit of freedom can be seen as a
variation on the theme. The closer to the ideal of a housewife Radha gets, the more she feels the need

wife. The longing for adventure as well as the guilt she feels while pursuing it is the main driving
power that makes her sway between her duty to Shyam and her attraction to Chris. The two men stand
for a safe yet dull and tiring life full of stereotypes in which she is unable to realise herself fully on
one hand and an exciting yet strange life full of the unexpected that makes her feel alive again. She
feels trapped by the expectation that are applied to her, such as having a baby or being a glossy, silly
wife (Nair 61) and struggles to find a way out so that she could breath freely. While Chris gives her, at
least in her eyes, the space she needs in able to breathe freely, Shyam expects her to behave in the way
his situation requires, denying her own individual choices. His expectations ( Does she ever consider
that such silly acts have repercussions? Besides, what will my friends and their wives say if they find

contrast to Radha s feelings. (nair 70)12

Greek Myth Of Icarus
The Greek myth of Icarus goes as follows. In ancient Greece, there was a brilliant inventor named
Daedalus. This man had a son named Icarus. They both lived on the island of Crete, which was ruled
by a tyrant named King Minos. Wanting to escape from island with his son to avoid King Mino s
wrath, Daedalus invented wings to fly across the sea with. As the only means of escape, Daedalus
warned his son to neither fly too high to the sun and too low to the sea. As the two made their escape,
Icarus had forgotten his father s warning. He enjoyed the feeling of flying too much and soared higher
and higher towards the sun. Eventually, he came too close to the sun and his wings melted. He
plummeted towards the earth, where he fell to the sea and drowned. Stricken with grief at the loss of
his son, Daedalus built a temple to the god Apollo and offered the wings he made as tribute. ... Show

While Daedalus was a genius, his invention invaded a domain that belonged solely to the gods. In
Greek mythology, only the Gods were allowed to fly. I believe it was also a lesson in humility. The
warning Daedalus gave Icarus about flying too high could be analogous with knowing your limits or
not wanting too much. However, in a painting done by Bruegel on the subject of Icarus, he paints the
whole ordeal rather as insignificant. A religious man that lived in the 16th century, Bruegel s painting
downplays the Greek gods in that they are only mythical and that the punishment Icarus receives was
neither important nor divine. I think this illustrates that while myths may just be fantasy stories to
amuse ourselves with, at one point they were someone else s religion. It s not a stretch of the
imagination to think that no religion is immune from

is Bluetooth headsets. The Bluetooth headset lets users listen to music, video or gaming content
without the need of a cable connecting the headset to connect like a peripheral device. Instead of the
cable, you could connect it with the device you are using. That s always been really easy to do with
smartphones usually you can just turn the Bluetooth on and it will pick up your device. Things are
more difficult with some computers depending on your computers operating system and age. Knowing
how to connect Bluetooth headphones to Apple TV 4 can be equally as challenging to anyone who
doesn t know how it s done. The guide does require you to navigate using the new Apple Tv and
enabling the Bluetooth first, so lets check out how it s done. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Sexual Harassment is NOT Tolerable Essay
According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) sexual harassment can be
defined as unwelcome sexual advances, wishes for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct
of a sexual nature constitutes sexual harassment when submission to or rejection of this conduct
clearly or completely affects an individual s employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual s
work routine or creates a threatening, antagonistic or unpleasant work environment (EEOC, 2002).
The victim or harasser can either be a man or a woman, and sexual harassment is not always targeted
to members of the opposite sex. Sufferers of sexual harassment in the place of work can be subject to
fear or anxiety, lower efficiency, a higher level of stress ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To avoid sexual harassment s expensive penalty and diminish its occurrence, employers need to
recognize and understand both the reason for the harassment and the precise form of power being
abused (UMC, 2007).
According to Goodman (1991), power in sexual harassment has been viewed differently by men and
women. The literature on sexual harassment generally characterizes it as an abuse of either role or
sexual power. From the cases Goodman (1991) mentions in her report, it can be noted that for men,
power comes from official authority, and they view sexual harassers as principally managers and
supervisors. Men acknowledged that co workers could sexually harass one another, but co worker
harassment was mainly seen as a mix up (UMC, 2007). However, women often distinguish all
members of an organization as possible harassers, viewing it can be initiated by any person who is
perceived as having power.
However, it has been claimed that sexual harassment regulations are based on the point of view of the
victim, nearly always a woman, and based almost completely on the feelings of the victim. Many men
have argued that, it is almost impracticable to understand each other s feelings, and many suits filed
for sexual harassment supposed as misunderstandings between the two parties (Goodman, 1991). Paul
(2001) agrees that or women to expect respectful treatment in the workplace is utopian, yet he also

Docklands Case Study
My predictions for the Docklands region was there will be retail stores, restaurants and there to be
residential areas. The only parts of my predictions that were correct, were the residential areas having
many apartment complexes and there being a wide range of restaurants in the area. Although the retail
was not the amount I thought there was going to be, even during the surveys we conducted 9 residents
mentioned that the retail amenities were poor. For some residents the Docklands region has been
created as a liveable and sustainable residential precinct that has all of the amenities needed to survive.
However, during our data collections, for some of the residents were not happy with the region as for

In the Docklands precinct there is a lesser value of amenities to accommodate the growing population.
During our surveys, we found most of the residents were happy with the service of public transport in
the region, Southern Cross Station which a easy 1km distance from the heart of Docklands and they
are well served with tram/bus routes. They were also happy with the accommodation that is in the
area. Yet the downfalls of Docklands are the essential amenities of retail, public services and leisure

Reasons For Mass Shootings
It was a quiet morning of December 14, 2012 in Newtown, CT, USA during the usual winter weather
in New England state, with people preparing for the Christmas holidays. What happened next has
triggered consequences of starting the major debate on gun control with the creation of a presidential
task force charged with recommending solutions to the problem of gun violence, and more specific,
public mass shootings. That is when 20 year old tall and lanky man named Adam Lanza made his way
to the Sandy Hook Elementary School and cold bloodedly murdered 20 children between six and
seven years old, as well as six adult staff members. Minutes before, he shot dead his own mother at
their Newtown home... It was not neither first nor last of wanton mass killings of strangers/innocent
bystanders (children) with deliberate attempt to deprive them of their lives without any tangible gain
or explainable reasoning, motives happening in the US.
This paper will look into, the constituting factors to the mass shootings in the US. It will examine

Persuasive Essay On Hairstyles
At the moment I ask myself, why are these schools dictating these kids hairstyles? Why can t a boy
dye his hair pink or have his hair over his collar, there is no real reason for this. You should not be able
to dictate these different hairstyles for the exact reason that we have our amendments and laws that
give us the freedom we rightly deserve. Also, there are some boys who might have their hair long and
you call that a violation, there is nothing wrong with a boy having his hair long. You, judging someone
with long hair is like judging someone with curly hair, they both are just natural hairstyles. You,

Essay on Imagery, Language, and Sound in What s That...
Imagery, Language, and Sound in What s That Smell in the Kitchen?
Marge Piercy is an American novelist, essayist, and poet best known for writing with a trademark
feminist slant. In What s That Smell in the Kitchen? Marge Piercy explores the way women are
sometimes held in low esteem by men through the eyes of a tired housewife who has had it with her
monotonous day to day duties. In this poem, it is not stated that the speaker is a homemaker, but the
reader is told about one woman in particular who is meant to express the feelings of women as a
whole. The author conveys this central idea through imagery, figurative language, and devices of
sound.
In the first lines of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another meaning of the word calico refers to a cat, which alludes to the Cheshire cat who is famous
for his ear to ear smile which can give the reader another image in the somewhat sarcastic phrase,
All over America women are burning
food they re supposed to bring with calico
smile on platters glittering like wax.
Wax is also known to be a very malleable and weak substance, like women were assumed to be at one
time, and still are in some societies.
The poem undergoes a change in tone here, from matter of fact to angry. This can be seen when the
speaker suddenly gives the reader such a strong metaphor as the one shown in the line, Anger sputters
in her brainpan, confined/but spewing out missiles of hot fat. This is also a powerful image of an
imprisoned woman who is enraged by the fact that she is not appreciated and demands some honour
and respect for what she does on a daily basis. The usage of the word missiles is connected to the last
line in the poem: Burning dinner is not incompetence but war. This is her message that I m SICK OF
THIS! and also it is the central idea in What s That Smell in the Kitchen? The woman is declaring a
war on her husband and society in general for taking advantage of women and not giving them a more
fulfilling role. At the time that this poem was written, the role of women was nowhere near as diverse
as it is today, and women were

English Language Barriers
Even though some immigrants come into the U.S and go into the field of entrepreneurship by either
starting from scratch or having the requirements needed, it s harder for most immigrants to find
employment with well paying jobs because not all have a safe place to go home to and not every
immigrant comes into the U.S breaking the language barrier. Essentially, not every foreigner that
comes to the U.S is prepared to handle the stress that comes with communicating with one another,
that can be experienced as a result of not knowing enough of the language to speak English and be
understood. This problem is presented, creating multiple obstacles for a newcomer to achieve their
goals, either to obtain a good job to support their family or hoping the money in the United States is
better than what they earned in their original country. But because many lack the skill to communicate
with others, people who speak fluently English may get frustrated with those who can t connect or
have difficulty understanding what one is trying to get across to the other, decreasing the chance of the
migratory to be granted a job, able to ace a job interview, open opportunities to find a home, make
friends or even struggle with great difficulty getting the information they need. Struggling with their
fluency will impact dramatically their self esteem, causing one to feel ashamed and afraid due to them
knowing they don t have the ease of speaking freely their broken English without being laughed at or
criticized. Furthermore, another disadvantage new settlers have is the insufficiency of transportation.
When families come in a hurry to the U.S, it s highly likely almost every newcomer doesn t have
someone or a way to transit from one location to another. Let s say, a man doesn t have access to a car
to drive from his house to the building he works in. Let s not forget his workplace is on the other side
of town. He has a couple options now, to mount up earlier in the morning to walk to his workplace and
still manage to arrive on time, take a bus to the nearest stop to his work building until he can afford a
car or ask a friend to give him a ride until he has saved enough. Saving enough money will take a
couple of months depending

The Movie And Critique Of Beauty And The Beast
Beauty and the Beast was an amazing musical, many say it was much better than the movie. Just like
the movie. It starts off in a faraway land, with the Young Prince who lived in a shining castled. The
prince was spoiled, selfish and unkind. An old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a
single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the Prince
sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away. The old woman warned him not to be deceived by
appearances, for beauty is to be found within. And when he sent her away again, the old woman s
ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress. The Prince tried to apologise, but it was too
late. As punishment, she transformed him into a hideous beast and placed a powerful spell on the
castle and all who lived there. The Rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose. If he could learn
to love another and earn their love in return before the last petal fell, the spell would be broken. If not,
he would be doomed to remain a Beast for all time.

Questions are Galileo. This man changed the world forever,he was shamed for his theory though
because his church was not happy with him. Ever since he was little he found out that he loved
science, and that he wanted to see space. He loved his family too,but they were not happy with his

noticed that despite how far the lamp swung, it took the same amount of time to swing back and forth.
This observation didn t agree with the common scientific observations of the day. In 1585, Galileo left
the university and got a job as a teacher. He began to experiment with levers, balls, and other objects
that involved confusion to me.. He tried to describe how they moved using mathematical questions.
He even invented an advanced measuring tool called the hydrostatic balance. In 1609, Galileo heard of
an invention from Holland called the telescope that could make far away items appear much closer. He
decided to build his own telescope. He made great improvements to the telescope and began to use it
to view the planets. That s how he found out that saturn was not flat, and that Jupiter has multiple
moons. Soon this invention went viral!! He was the first to see craters on the moon, he discovered
sunspots. Galileo may also have made the first recorded studies of the planet Neptune, though he didn

answer here, is to make a statement that a Christian perspective and worldview would be valuable to

integrity, and accountability. The difficult part is translating that specifically to the area of statistics.

Freud argued that most of our behaviour is motivated by our unconscious, but how could we know the
existence of it. Freud suggested that there are several ways to access the unconscious level. The first
one is free association, patients are encouraged to give free rein to their thoughts and feelings,
expressing whatever comes into the mind without monitoring its content, it assumed that repressed
material would be emerged ultimately. The second one is by dream analysis, he opined that
unconscious wishes are often manifested in dreams, sometimes in their true forms, sometimes in
symbolic form (Website : Webref), e.g. children s wish of candies or toys would be reflected in the
content of their dreams. The last one is named as Freudian slip; he argued that an accidental action
would be expressed as the unconscious motivations (Miell, Phoenix Thomas, 2002), e.g. A man who
said Peter is a bad (black) guy!
But what materials would be repressed to the part of unconscious? Freud considered that part of our
unconscious motivations was come from biological drivers, one of these drivers is sexuality or libido
in Freud s terms. It refers any forms of body stimulation that

My Experience At My Computer Ppc
The start of the simulation I named my computer PPC which stands for Powerful Personal Computer
because businesses want a computer that is powerful and lightweight to complete the job in a timely
manner. Then I picked Mercedes as my first target market and my only priority because I intend to
target the top end of the market with high end business users. Next, for responsibilities, I made myself
as the President Overall Leadership and VP Sales Management because I will be making the overall
decisions and decide what position the company will ultimately take. Finally, I opened a sales office in
Chicago NORAM for multiple reasons, first that area has the most Mercedes market, second my small
office is also in Chicago which will provide me with greater control, third it seems like a good place to
start because it s not too cheap or too expensive and will churn great profits (right qualities).
Subsequently, in Quarter Two I named my brand Red because the color red is associated with fast and
the Mercedes market is a market where there is little compromises. Thus I designed a powerful
computer with the available technology to satisfy their needs, such as high speed computing power,
high capacity hard drive, standard networking, 19 monitor, and an expanded keyboard. While at the
same time include office, database, engineering, and manufacturing software. After completing my
computer build, the total component cost is $1419, thus I priced my Red computer at $4000 with a

Cesare Beccaria s Impact On America
Government policies in America come from a variety of sources. But the philosophers who made the
most impact are Cesare Beccaria and Baron de Montesquieu. Beccaria believed in a competent justice
system. His philosophy is the basis for the US justice system. Beccaria lived in Italy from 1738 to
1794. Baron de Montesquieu believed in the separation of power and checks and balances. His real
name is Charles Louis de Secondat and he lived in France from 1689 to 1755. These philosophers
shaped the future in front of them. Another example of someone shaping the literary universe is
William Golding. He wrote the Lord of the Flies in 1954. Lord of the Flies showed people the true

Cesare Beccaria was dead set against unfair punishments. He believed that the punishments should fit
the crime. (Cesare Beccaria) For example, if a person is caught stealing bread, and the court decrees
his hand should be cut off, he will have to steal again because he is unable to feed his family with one
hand. He also believed in abolishing the death penalty. Because the boys do not establish a competent
justice system, as Cesare Beccaria argued any effective government must, they fall into a state of
anarchy. Jack s actions are a perfect example of the failure of the boys to have a justice system. After
he lets the fire go out, Piggy and Ralph tear into him. He cannot bear the truth of his actions and turns
to the only way of coping he knows preying on the weak. This from Piggy, and the wails of agreement
from some of the hunters, drove Jack to violence. The bolting look came into his blue eyes. He took a

society today would not be condoned. He would be brought up in front of the proper authorities.
Unfortunately, on the island, there are no proper authorities. The justice system is nonexistent. This
allows Jack to continue doing wrong things without fear of repercussions. This causes the island to fall

Impact Of The Enlightenment On Modern Political Thought

April 1, 2016 The Impact of the Enlightenment on Modern Political Thought
The philosopher John Locke once said, [g]overnment has no other end, but the preservation of
property ( John Locke ). The social contract is the fundamental basis for modern government. This
idea affects everything we believe a modern state should represent for itself and its people. This way
of understanding the role of government was inspired by the writings of the Enlightenment era
philosophers. This way of understanding the role of the state and its people is significantly different
from what was believed in ancient Athens and Rome. The Enlightenment era philosophers did more
than just think of new ideas of government; their works not only inspired changes during the 18th
century, but also continued to shape modern governments. While it is true that certain forms of
democracy evolved in ancient Athens and Rome, modern governments differ significantly from these
ancient societies. In some cases, the very words put forth by the philosophers were written directly
into the constitutions of countries practicing these new ideas. Without the contributions of John Locke
and other enlightenment philosophers, democracy and government as we know it today would not
exist.
The shape of modern government in America and Europe today comes from many different ideas that
existed before the Enlightenment even began. Concepts in ancient Greece are

Art Education For Public Schools Persuasive Slice
Outline: Art Education for Public Schools Persuasive Slice Brain experimentation confirmation is one
of the several proofs education as well as commitment in fine arts is constructive for a child s
educational process. Beginning from an improved clarity and creativity in being able create ideas to
increased awareness in mind, body, voice, arts education has had a tremendous impact. In its several
ways, it supports the advancement of the whole child along with preparation of a life filled with
opportunities for learning and delight. Art education is sadly interpreted as more of a luxury rather
than a must to a child s education; although research has proved that simple, creative activities serve
as essential building blocks for a student s future development. In addition, the fine arts provide
students non academic aid such as an increase in self esteem, motivation, improved emotional
expression and appreciation in diversity. Students cherish that their voice and interests are listened to
and understood by others. Children gave form to their feelings through drawing and paintings. All
fibers are highly important for a young mind, so why is art not a part of a student s curriculum? In
these past few years, there has been big concern between educators in the relationship in arts based
learning and human development. The arts construct neural systems building a variety of profits

Over time however, the estate had also come to be the home of a group who s time was focussed on
much more sinister actives. They were a group of people who went by no formal name and a group
whose presence there was unknown to all those who passed through the area.
The group called home a building that stood in the middle of the vast estate. It was a building quite
different from those that surrounded it. It was cleaner (although not by much), as well as taller and
much more modern than the rest. It had, formally, also been the head office of Campbell Urwin.
The top floor of the building was made up of a number of small rooms. They had all previously been
the offices of the companies top executives, although none had been used to house office equipment
for some time. More recently the rooms had been converted and become improvised bedrooms.
In the far corner of the floor was a small and fairly basic room that had little in it apart from a rusty
bed frame that was topped with a mattress so old it was made up of considerably more broken springs
than not.
This particular room belonged to the girl that was sat on the splintering chair by the window and
looking out at the view, although there was little she was able to see through the heavy torrent of rain
and hail that was smashing its way down onto the glass.
Cleo was an average girl of average height. In fact almost everything about her was average, apart
from her life anyway, that was nothing

Weight Watchers Buying Preferences
Consumers buying preferences are constantly changing and have a significant influence over how
companies like Weight Watchers address this fluidity. Weight Watchers target market is quite broad,
women aged 30 to 45, so needs to consider two key factors:
1. Consumer behaviour, purchasers of personal and household products.
2. Any or all the four segmentation variables:
Demographic factors such as age, gender, income, education and ethnicity
Geographic factors such as national boundaries, regional districts and suburban postcodes
Psychographic factors such as lifestyle, personality and motive, and
Behavioural factors such as volume usage, brand loyalty and benefit expectations (Pride, 2015).
These factors will ultimately influence a consumer s buying decision and allow organisations to create
differentiation strategies. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This study demonstrates that the demographic, psychographic and behavioral variables are important
drivers for this market and will immensely influence the consumer across the five step buying process,
especially the first three steps. Weight Watchers competition during the information and evaluation of
alternatives phase is further significantly influenced by the psychological factors of this target group.
Potential customers are also being influenced by free or inexpensive diet plans that are popular on
Instagram and Pinterest. These social media platforms are having a considerable impact on the way
women approach dieting, how they engage with their chosen product and share results (Schlossberg,
2016).
These competitors provide different weight loss approaches and rely heavily on dramatic visual before

A Research Study On The American Psychological Association
Chapter I
Introduction
The American Psychological Association estimates that approximately 90% of all people in the United
States will marry by the time they reach the age of 50. Of those, an estimated 40 50% will divorce.
Couples that remarry have even higher rates of divorce (http://apa.org/). Of the many potential
presenting problems, a research study completed by Miller, Yorgason, Sandberg, and White (2003),
found that communication was the most common presenting issue for both spouses. A similar study by
Doss, Simpson, and Christenen (2004), identified communication and emotional affection as the
leading causes for why couples seek therapy; wives generally reported communication first, while
husbands reported emotional affection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chapter II
Review of the Literature
This chapter provides a brief introduction to the theory and practice of Solutions Focused Brief
Therapy as well as an introduction to important supporting research.
Theory and Practice
Solutions Focused Brief Therapy centers on the belief that clients have the ability to solve their own
problems. The role of the therapist is to assist clients to tap into resources they already possess
(Cheung, 2005; Corey, 2012). One of the key differences between SFBT and other therapies is the
emphasis on looking for solutions as opposed to focusing on problems. This is one of the key
differentiators that allows SFBT to help clients achieve their goals in as few as 5 sessions (de Shazer,
1991). By the skillful use of questions, the therapist is able to help the client explore times when the
presenting problem was less pronounced or even absent, ultimately realizing they can envision how to
solve their own problems. As early as the first session, after each client has been able to voice the
problem that brought them to therapy, clients will begin to explore these questions and given
homework that is solution focused (Chueng, 2005; Corey, 2012; de Shazer Berg, 1997; Mudd, 2000).
Research
Gingerich and Eisengart (2000) completed a review of available research studies and posited that
SFBT can be effective with a wide range of

Star Spangled Banner
Many people hail The Star Spangled Banner as the greatest piece of American music. The audiences
of America s national anthem seem, instinctively, eager to express their respect by embracing the
notion to remove their hats and stand up. However, not many people ponder over the question of what
The Star Spangled Banner truly means. What does it mean? Why does it deserve so much reverence
and honor? What exceptional difference allows it to prevail over the masterpieces of prominent
composers like Mozart and Beethoven? The answer is fairly simple. The Star Spangled Banner
symbolizes America s perseverance, its set of moral laws and ethics, and its history that constitutes
what America truly means. The Star Spangled Banner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It portrays America s peerless zeal to defend its homeland and, in the course, its rights, its values, and
its freedom that require such dear efforts to attain. Furthermore, it duly illustrates the many trials
America is willing to face to create this new haven in which every person is free from persecution for
following their perception of true freedom. However, the moral and humane laws of the Americans
dictate the extension of freedom to others. Freedom, as the Americans come to believe, belongs to
everyone. The most conspicuous example of America s extending arms of compassion and equality is
the Civil War. Of course, there is no obligation for America to fight a war against itself for the welfare
of African Americans. Still, America is only abiding by its own set of ethical laws and the humanity
that the Bible dictates. In comparison, the moral cause of this war is exceptionally similar to that in
The Star Spangled Banner . Both of the conflicts involve America in an attempt to uphold its
significant values and tenets through confiding in their religion. Both of the conflicts hail a future in
which freedom shall govern this nation. Moreover, both of the conflicts prove America s traditional
values and faith apt to withstand wave after wave of bombardment without faltering. America is a
separate little haven in which no limits exist to restrict the people s religious faith or to hinder them
from following their moral laws and values. The Star

Globalization and the Northern Territory Intervention
Globalization, a contested concept among leading theorists in its definition, chronology, and
measurement of effects, is almost certainly of a multidimensional nature if such theorists perspectives
are all taken equally into consideration. The broad phenomenon of globalization can therefore be
scrutinised more closely by separation and analysis of individual dimensions, such as its political,
economic, cultural and ecological dimensions. This approach, while allowing for a more focused
examination of the causes and effects of globalization within a single dimension, serves to highlight
the interconnectedness of each dimension. The following essay will expose the complex
interconnection between the political, economic and cultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The political dimension of globalization is evident in the harnessing of neoliberal ideology to enforce
and justify sanctions upon Indigenous communities within the Northern Territory (Craig Porter, 2006;
Scrimgeour, 2007). Several of the more contested components of the Northern Territory Intervention
were born of think tank publications, which set this neoliberal agenda (Scrimgeour, 2007).
Neoliberalism is fostered by a global network of think tanks, which are underwritten by corporate
sponsors and bring elitist ideals into the mainstream and popular opinion (Scrimgeour, 2007).
Australia s major think tanks are the Institute for Public Affairs (IPA) and the Centre for Independent
Studies (CIS), both of which receive major funding from mining companies (Scrimgeour, 2007).
Such think tanks, promoting neoliberal ideals of deregulation, liberalization, and privatisation of the
market and public assets, as well as supporting the dismantling of the welfare state, have considerable
influence on the ideology of the Government in forming policy (Scrimgeour, 2007). From 2000 to
2004, the IPA published 33 articles on Indigenous matters, most of which promoted the idea that
previous Indigenous policies of land rights and

The Qualities of Brutus in Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar ...
In Shakespeare s play Julius Caesar , Brutus is a main character and conspirator of the assassination
plot of Caesar. Unfortunately for Rome, Brutus does not wish to become the next ruler. If Brutus had
chosen to do so, he undoubtedly would have been one of Rome s greatest rulers, due to his many
virtuous qualities. One of those qualities is that Brutus is an honorable man. He does not have a single
iota of corruption But for supporting robbers, shall we now contaminate our fingers with base bribes,
and sell the mighty space of our large honors for so much trash as may be grasped thus? I had rather
be a dog and bay at the moon than such a Roman! (612) After Caesar is slain, Marc Antony sends his

There is no terror, Cassius, in your threats, for I am armed so strong in honesty, they pass me as the

overcame the sadness and grief of killing his best friend for the good of Rome. Therefore, Brutus is a
stoic. Finally Brutus will put the needs of his fellow Romans in front of those of his own. Brutus is
originally brought into the assassination plot, because he truly believes in his heart that this is
something he must do for the good of Rome. If then that a friend demand why Brutus rose against
Caesar, this is my answer not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. (595) After he kills
Caesar, he does not run and hide, but proclaims peace, and liberty throughout the Roman streets while
taking full responsibility for this deed. As I slew my best lover for the good of Rome, I have the same
dagger for myself when it shall please my country to need my death. (595) Brutus would have
absolutely been a great ruler due to this dedication and loyalty to his country. He would, at the very
least, have given his life to Rome when he felt they needed it. Brutus is an honorable man loved by
many in Rome. He joined the conspiracy

Though women made a movement to gain social and political rights during the nineteenth century, it was not entirely successful. Women have begun to gain a larger percentage of the workforce yet men continue to uphold dominance. In the short story The Catbird Seat , James Thurber write about how men have a known superiority over women in the workplace by describing the relationship between Mr. Fitweiler and Mrs. Barrows. Fitweiler s superiority is shown over Mrs. Barrows is when he requests very little information from Mr. Martin about the accusations against himself. Mrs. Barrows stormed into Mr. Fitweiler s office the morning after Mr. Martin arrived at Mrs. Barrows home. Mrs. Barrows warned Mr. Fitweiler of the things Mr. Martin had threatened the night before, but it was of no avail because Mr. Fitweiler had to protect himself, not Mrs. Barrows. Mr. Fitweiler was incredibly worried that the affair would become known; he had to do whatever possible to keep this from being revealed. The head of the filing department, neat, quiet, attentive, stood in front of the old man s desk. Mr. Fitweiler was pale and nervous. (5). This quote shows how concerned Mr. Fitweiler truly was about anyone discovering his relationship with Mrs. Barrows. When Mr. Fitweiler brings Mr. Martin in his office to inform him on what Mrs. Barrows had just accused him of, Mr. Fitweiler asks for very little information and a minuscule amount of details to support his alibi. Mr. Martin did not lie when telling of his night, he simply left of the most crucial events. Mr. Martin left out events that would have aided in Mrs. Barrows being rescued of being made a complete fool of. The short story is called Cathedral because as the narrator and Robert, the blind man, are watching television Robert asks the narrator to describe him what a cathedral looks like since he has never been able to see one. However, because the narrator stated that he does not believe in something in particular, to him a cathedral is just a building that took about a hundred years to build and that they are very big and made of stone. • 7. Form Of Political Participation Brooke Syer Professor Becker PSCI 180 46272 16 July 2017 Political Participation For many American citizens, one of the great aspects of our culture is the ability individuals have to take part in the political system. Whether it be voting for a new president, participating in a protest or serving their jury duty, the American people can be certain they will have an impact on the outcomes. Like numerous other people, there is a sense of pride and importance to contribute to their community as well as be active members of society. These activities are specifically called political participation. There are many forms of political participation such as voting, protesting, town hall meetings, and jury duty. Voting is commonly thought to be the single most important form of political participation. It is a unique political act because it allows for the views of more people to be represented than any other form of political participation. Every citizen over the age of eighteen is allowed one vote and must register beforehand. Voter turnout depends on what type of election is occurring. There is a large number of elections going on every year such as general elections, local elections, and statewide offices. The presidential election is the one that has the best turnout but even then it is still not that high. Many people see it as an individual s duty to their country to vote but this can also depend on the region someone lives in. Some areas have an established respect for ... Jesus Prayer Analysis Précis The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God by Frederica Mathewes Green Paul Forbes PHIL 231: Practical Wisdom Lab I September 11, 2017 Reading Assignment: I read one hundred percent of the assigned book, The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God by Frederica Mathewes Green. Précis During the second through fifth century men and women, known as the Desert Fathers and Mothers relocated to the deserts of Palestine and Egypt and fully devoted themselves to being in constant communion with God. In their prolific writings, they explained that they were motivated, in part, by Paul s admonition to pray without ceasing (see Romans 12:12, Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 4:2, I Thessalonians 5:17). Reasoning that if he repeated this admonition to four bodies of Christians then he believed that this depth of connection with God was attainable. Frederica Mathewes Green has written a concise book explaining these early Desert Christian s quest to pray without ceasing as an avenue to be in constant communion with God. The first third of her book, The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God, offers a brief history, theology, and spirituality of Orthodoxy to introduce the prayer practice commonly referred to as the Jesus Prayer. The last two thirds uses a conversational question and answer format that takes the reader through practical steps for adopting this prayer into their daily life. A main focus of the book explains how Christians can use the Jesus Prayer to overcome one of the biggest obstacles to prayer, which is the steady stream of thoughts, inner conversations, and emotions that disrupt the mind and keep it unsettled. Remarkably, they discovered that intrusive distractions during periods of prayer could be cured with a substitute thought a single, simple thought of prayer. After experimenting with various short scriptures and petitions, this prayer, rooted in Scripture emerged, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me. Thus, the Jesus Prayer is drawn from passages in the Gospels where people called on Jesus for mercy. Specifically, the ten lepers, recorded in Luke 17:13, cried out, Jesus, ... Pros And Cons Of LASIK Eye Surgery A study on the correction of short and long sighted by LASIK eye surgery Introduction LASIK Eye Surgery (LASIK for the rest of the essay) is short for Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis Eye Surgery. Nowadays, as the rapid development and the strong advocating of the LASIK, there are more than 100 thousand people in China take the LASIK every year. Although it provides a huge benefit to those people wearing glasses, some people still think LASIK as the damage to our eyes. In my opinion, LASIK outweighs the disadvantages. Next, I m going to extend and prove my conclusion based on these aspects: the duration and the procedure of the surgery, the subject range of the surgery, the effects after the surgery and the applications of the surgery nowadays. Body LASIK Eye Surgery, as known as the savior of the short and long sighted, is a surgery that uses the laser which combines fluorine and argon that would not be able to see by human eyes. The laser wouldn t penetrate our eyes. It is used to gasify part of our cornea and wouldn t hurt other organs of our body. Next, I will prove my conclusion: LASIK outweighs the disadvantages from 4 aspects. Firstly, the LASIK wouldn t cost a lot of time. The surgery for each eye would take 10 to 15 minutes to perform. So, it would take about 20 30 minutes for the whole surgery process, which means people could take the surgery after work and then the next day, he can go back to work again. • 10. The Poetry of Wallace Stevens Though Wallace Stevens commonly uses a blank verse writing style in his poetry, staying true to the style s definition of unrhymed lines with consistent meter, Sunday Morning differs from the poet s other work as he maintains consistency in stanza structure as well. Here, each of the eight stanzas consists of 15 feet and contain 10 beats per line (classic iambic pentameter). This extremely organized structure seems ironic, as the poem s theme involves the death of Christianity and organized religion. However, it also lends to Stevens message of the importance of life and death, and the immaculate nature and consistency seen in earth s life cycles. Sunday Morning is an example of Wallace Stevens romantic period writing style, as he articulates the human connection to nature and the existence of spirituality within ones physical surroundings. The uncompromising structure of the poem provides a meditative rhythm (showing Stevens connection to Milton and the romanic era) as the speaker reflects on the relationship between oneself and the natural environment. Simultaneously, Stevens use of blank verse and inclusion of both enjambments and end stopped lines allows for artistic exploration, mirroring a human thought pattern and the speaker s mental exploration of personal beliefs. The syntax resembles a racing mind, as the sentence structure is the only aspect of the poem that does not follow a strict pattern. This is evident as the speaker ponders a Pagan perspective, ... The pay is pretty good, considering that in Tennessee, good massage therapists get anywhere from $50 to $100 and hour for their work. A half hour will give you around $30 $50. This isn t bad, but people need to consider what s involved and the expenses that are inevitably going to be incurred. Massage therapy is really for strong people who have good hands. Because the arms and hands are so intensely used, there will be constant strain on these areas. It s best to know that any occupation involving repetitive movement stands a high chance of damaging nerves or muscles in the part of the body used the most. Many training schools also teach self therapy and exercises to minimize that risk. Nobody can predict arthritis, but that may be one side effect of continued flexing of the muscles of the hands. Naturally, its not wise to get into this business if one has any problems with those parts of the body. Cost has to be considered. A good massage school costs money and time. Massage school can take two years to complete, combined with ongoing training necessary for keeping up the certification. Certification alone incurs a yearly fee. • 14. The Cycle Of The Hydrologic Cycle The hydrologic cycle, also known as the water cycle, is a continuous rotation of water changing states through the Earth, ocean and atmosphere in a circulating system (Watts Forbes, 2011; US Department of Commerce, n.d; National Geographic Society, 2013). The water cycle alters throughout different locations due to weather patterns and climate around the world (Watts Forbes, 2011). The major processes that make up the hydrologic cycle are evaporation, transpiration, condensation, precipitation, and runoff, with many further processes as seen in Appendix 1.1 and simplified in Appendix 1.2. Evaporation Evaporation, in general, involves a substance changing its physical state from a liquid to a gas (US Department of Commerce, n.d; National Geographic Society, 2013; Northwest River Forecast Centre [NRFC], n.d). An example of this is when the body heats up during exercise or due to temperature, and releases sweat to try and cool down and producing water onto the skin (US Department of Commerce, n.d). Energy is required for evaporation to occur, and this energy source can come from the atmosphere, entities such humans, or in the case of the water cycle, the sun is the source of energy (US Department of Commerce, n.d). During the hydrologic cycle, evaporation occurs when the sun interacts with liquid water such has lakes and rivers, the ocean and soil, to cause water particles to become water vapour by heating the water (National Geographic Society, n.d; Miller Spoolman, ... Analysis During our interview, Mr. Wolkovitz described most of the at risk students at East Rock Community Magnet School as a student who is struggling in one or more aspect of learning . This response is seemingly broad, however, I believe that he would define an at risk student as being someone that is academically behind the other students in at least one content area: mathematics, reading, writing, science or social studies. Mr. Wolkovitz also suggested that the students receiving special education services are also included in his definition of an at risk student. This response seems quite appropriate considering the grade level of students that Mr. Wolkovitz works with. Students do start showing some signs of being at risk in elementary school; however, most of the early warning signs are centered on their academic performance. Younger students are not as likely to be truant, engaged in risky or criminal behavior, or have family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The literature on sexual harassment generally characterizes it as an abuse of either role or sexual power. From the cases Goodman (1991) mentions in her report, it can be noted that for men, power comes from official authority, and they view sexual harassers as principally managers and supervisors. Men acknowledged that co workers could sexually harass one another, but co worker harassment was mainly seen as a mix up (UMC, 2007). Marge Piercy explores the way women are sometimes held in low esteem by men through the eyes of a tired housewife who has had it with her monotonous day to day duties. In this poem, it is not stated that the speaker is a homemaker, but the reader is told about one woman in particular who is meant to express the feelings of women as a whole. The author conveys this central idea through imagery, figurative language, and devices of sound. In the first lines of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another meaning of the word calico refers to a cat, which alludes to the Cheshire cat who is famous for his ear to ear smile which can give the reader another image in the somewhat sarcastic phrase, All over America women are burning food they re supposed to bring with calico smile on platters glittering like wax. Wax is also known to be a very malleable and weak substance, like women were assumed to be at one time, and still are in some societies.
  • 27. The poem undergoes a change in tone here, from matter of fact to angry. This can be seen when the speaker suddenly gives the reader such a strong metaphor as the one shown in the line, Anger sputters in her brainpan, confined/but spewing out missiles of hot fat. This is also a powerful image of an imprisoned woman who is enraged by the fact that she is not appreciated and demands some honour and respect for what she does on a daily basis. The usage of the word missiles is connected to the last line in the poem: Burning dinner is not incompetence but war. This is her message that I m SICK OF THIS! and also it is the central idea in What s That Smell in the Kitchen? The woman is declaring a war on her husband and society in general for taking advantage of women and not giving them a more fulfilling role. English Language Barriers Even though some immigrants come into the U.S and go into the field of entrepreneurship by either starting from scratch or having the requirements needed, it s harder for most immigrants to find employment with well paying jobs because not all have a safe place to go home to and not every immigrant comes into the U.S breaking the language barrier. Essentially, not every foreigner that comes to the U.S is prepared to handle the stress that comes with communicating with one another, that can be experienced as a result of not knowing enough of the language to speak English and be understood. This problem is presented, creating multiple obstacles for a newcomer to achieve their goals, either to obtain a good job to support their family or hoping the money in the United States is better than what they earned in their original country. But because many lack the skill to communicate with others, people who speak fluently English may get frustrated with those who can t connect or have difficulty understanding what one is trying to get across to the other, decreasing the chance of the migratory to be granted a job, able to ace a job interview, open opportunities to find a home, make friends or even struggle with great difficulty getting the information they need. Struggling with their fluency will impact dramatically their self esteem, causing one to feel ashamed and afraid due to them knowing they don t have the ease of speaking freely their broken English without being laughed at or criticized. Furthermore, another disadvantage new settlers have is the insufficiency of transportation. When families come in a hurry to the U.S, it s highly likely almost every newcomer doesn t have someone or a way to transit from one location to another. Let s say, a man doesn t have access to a car to drive from his house to the building he works in. Let s not forget his workplace is on the other side of town. He has a couple options now, to mount up earlier in the morning to walk to his workplace and still manage to arrive on time, take a bus to the nearest stop to his work building until he can afford a car or ask a friend to give him a ride until he has saved enough. • 29. The Movie And Critique Of Beauty And The Beast Beauty and the Beast was an amazing musical, many say it was much better than the movie. Just like the movie. It starts off in a faraway land, with the Young Prince who lived in a shining castled. The prince was spoiled, selfish and unkind. An old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the Prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away. The old woman warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is to be found within. And when he sent her away again, the old woman s ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress. The Prince tried to apologise, but it was too late. As punishment, she transformed him into a hideous beast and placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there. The Rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose. If he could learn to love another and earn their love in return before the last petal fell, the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a Beast for all time. In a little town, a young girl by the name of belle arrives. The Towns people despite their admiration for Belle s beauties think of Belle as odd and peculiar because of her favourite thing to do is to read. An organization centered on principles and teaching of the bible would operate with integrity, and accountability. The difficult part is translating that specifically to the area of statistics. The first one is free association, patients are encouraged to give free rein to their thoughts and feelings, expressing whatever comes into the mind without monitoring its content, it assumed that repressed material would be emerged ultimately. The second one is by dream analysis, he opined that unconscious wishes are often manifested in dreams, sometimes in their true forms, sometimes in symbolic form (Website : Webref), e.g. children s wish of candies or toys would be reflected in the content of their dreams. Next, for responsibilities, I made myself as the President Overall Leadership and VP Sales Management because I will be making the overall decisions and decide what position the company will ultimately take. Finally, I opened a sales office in Chicago NORAM for multiple reasons, first that area has the most Mercedes market, second my small office is also in Chicago which will provide me with greater control, third it seems like a good place to start because it s not too cheap or too expensive and will churn great profits (right qualities). He also believed in abolishing the death penalty. Because the boys do not establish a competent justice system, as Cesare Beccaria argued any effective government must, they fall into a state of anarchy. Jack s actions are a perfect example of the failure of the boys to have a justice system. After he lets the fire go out, Piggy and Ralph tear into him. Mrs. Orens/Mr. Reiss April 1, 2016 The Impact of the Enlightenment on Modern Political Thought The philosopher John Locke once said, [g]overnment has no other end, but the preservation of property ( John Locke ). The social contract is the fundamental basis for modern government. This idea affects everything we believe a modern state should represent for itself and its people. This way of understanding the role of government was inspired by the writings of the Enlightenment era philosophers. This way of understanding the role of the state and its people is significantly different from what was believed in ancient Athens and Rome. The Enlightenment era philosophers did more than just think of new ideas of government; their works not only inspired changes during the 18th century, but also continued to shape modern governments. While it is true that certain forms of democracy evolved in ancient Athens and Rome, modern governments differ significantly from these ancient societies. In some cases, the very words put forth by the philosophers were written directly into the constitutions of countries practicing these new ideas. Without the contributions of John Locke and other enlightenment philosophers, democracy and government as we know it today would not exist. The shape of modern government in America and Europe today comes from many different ideas that existed before the Enlightenment even began. Concepts in ancient Greece are ... One of the key differences between SFBT and other therapies is the emphasis on looking for solutions as opposed to focusing on problems. This is one of the key differentiators that allows SFBT to help clients achieve their goals in as few as 5 sessions (de Shazer, 1991). By the skillful use of questions, the therapist is able to help the client explore times when the presenting problem was less pronounced or even absent, ultimately realizing they can envision how to solve their own problems. As early as the first session, after each client has been able to voice the problem that brought them to therapy, clients will begin to explore these questions and given homework that is solution focused (Chueng, 2005; Corey, 2012; de Shazer Berg, 1997; Mudd, 2000). However, the moral and humane laws of the Americans dictate the extension of freedom to others. Freedom, as the Americans come to believe, belongs to everyone.
