aircraft icing Essay
Introduction
Plane crashes occur for a number of reasons. There seems to be a consensus with the general public
that flying is dangerous, engines fail and planes crash. That is true some times, although the
majority of plane crashes occur largely due to a combination of human error and mechanical failure.
In much of aviations accidents mechanical failure has been a contributing factor. It is impossible
however to blame plane crashes on one reason since events leading up to an accident are so varied.
Reasoning for plane crashes can be placed in a broad number of categories.
Environmental conditions play a vital part in aviation as a whole. Much planning goes into a flight
based on the current and forecast weather conditions for safety ... Show more content on

This accident could have been avoided if proper procedure was followed in deicing.
The NTSB investigation concluded that the combination of the crew s use of thrust reverse on
the ground for push back, and their failure to active the engine anti ice system caused the crash.
By failing to activate the engine anti ice system, large amounts of snow and ice that were
sucked into the engines during reverse thrust were allowed to remain there. Ice built up on the
compressor inlet pressure probe, which measures engine power. As a result instrument
indications in the cockpit showed an Engine Pressure Ratio of 2.04, while the power plants were
in reality only producing 1.70 EPR, or about 70% of available power. The combination of the ice
covered wings and low power caused an immediate stall on takeoff killing 74 people. (Kilroy, 9).
In Americans Eagle Flight 4184 October 31, 1994, heavy air traffic and poor weather postponed
the arrival of this flight at Chicago s O Hare International Airport, where it was to have landed en
route from Indianapolis, Indiana.
The ATR 72, a twin engine turboprop carrying 68 people, entered a holding pattern 65 miles
southeast of O Hare, which it maintained for over an hour in freezing rain. As the plane circled, a
ridge of ice formed on the upper surface of its wings, eventually causing the aircraft s autopilot to
suddenly disconnect and the pilots to lose control. The ATR disintegrated on impact with a field
below, killing everyone aboard.

The American Dream In Jon Krakauer s Into The Wild
The major tenets of the quintessential American dream can be found in the ideology of every
person proud to be an American. The America seen today is not the same as it was 50 years
prior, so how can one expect the central dream to be the same? In fact, each person has developed
an opinion on what the American dream may mean for him/her. For one, the dream may still be
the white picket fence still life from so many years ago, but for another, it may be the accumulation
of riches and fame. In Jon Krakauers Into the Wild, he shows us that Chris McCandless cared not
for the quotidian rat race he had grown so accustomed to, but more for the intricacies that the
natural world had to offer. I believe that although Chris McCandless may not have made it out of
Alaska alive, he still succeeded in discovering what he went there for, and in turn died fulfilling his
own American dream.
The dictionary defines the American dream as the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity
traditionally held to be available to every American. Chris McCandless came from a wealthy
family with everything he could ever need being provided for him. His parents had achieved the
conventional American dream. They had enough money to provide for their family and then some,
a nice home, and a good education for the whole family. To the outsider looking in, it would be
easy to assume that Chris McCandless had a perfect life full of everything he desired and
unrelenting happiness. This was not the case.

Essay on The Visual Analysis of The Gleaners
The Gleaners (Des glaneuses) is an oil painting, 83.8 cm Г— 111.8 cm (33 in Г— 44 in), created by
French realist painter Jean Francois Millet in 1857. The piece of oil painting vividly depicts the
nineteenth century French rural life, with a rich flavor of harvest.
Jean Francois Millet arranges the farm as the main scene of background, and aims at three women
gleaners being bent to pick up ears of wheat. Through the observation of the painting, we can see
three peasant women occupy in the center of the screen, each bending with different angles, while
their eyes all raking down to the ground. To contrast with the distant crowd, they wear coarse
clothes and clunky wooden shoes, having robust statures. It is not appropriate to say that they ...

As some parts of background are closer to the light source than the front, they are applied with
brighter hues, high in value. In addition, Millet places things like haystack, trees and farmhouse in
the back, and peasant women in the front. Hence. On the basis the positions of objects, the
principle of line perspective, and the relative distance to the viewer, three gleaners visually appear
within a larger proportion on the painting. In other words, the front figures sizes are bigger than the
back objects . Further more, in the painting, the Gleaners , the entire screen is filled with contrast
elements. First of all, the main figures in the front labor scene are full of rich vigor, contrasting to
the background with silent objects such as hay, trees and farmhouse. Secondly, the color brightness
of the front contrast to the back, as well as the comparison of relative sizes between figures and
scenery, applying the principle of perspective. What s more, the most classic is the horizontal line,
the intersection of the sky and the ground, contrasting with the light source, from the top left.
Consequently, 2D and 3D spatial effects are combined precisely. Meanwhile, the sense of space of
the image is strengthened as well.
For this oil painting on canvas, the painter Jean Francois Millet did use concise expression means,
instead of complex techniques. Hence,

Theme Of Identity In The Myth Of The Latin Woman

How Does Citizen Kane Affect Hollywood Cinema
Citizen Kane, made in 1941 by Orson Wells, presents a biography of Charles Foster Kane and
used an approach to plot order that was radical for its time. It was a pioneer in advanced techniques
such as using actors and objects at different distances and keeping them in focus, longer shots
without cuts, and non linear storytelling. Citizen Kaneand the techniques used would affect
Hollywood cinema for years to come. The movie, Citizen Kane, consisted of nine sequences, five
of which are flashbacks. It starts with Kane s death then is followed up by the major events in his
life. There is also a sequence involving a reported assigned to get more information on Mr. Kane s
life. The movie is told in a fashion that goes along with the order of which the investigator gets
information about Kane s life not chronologically. Since it was not chronologic but rather jumbled
up, it requires the viewer to become engaged and put the sequence of the story together themselves.

It was the first movie to feature this type of structure. The structure is now considered
conventional. It would influence films such as; Pulp fiction, Memento, and Irreversible. The plot
of Citizen Kane is not in a random order but in a very thought out logical order. Orson Wells used
the order of scenes to affect how the viewer would see another later in the movie without making
the movie too long or separating the scenes too much. For example, he showed Kane losing control
of his media empire and then later showed him first buying his newspaper business. This order
made a more suspenseful viewing for the

Physical Therapy Career Field
When considering the physical therapy career field, I concluded that my interests and skills are
compatible with the career requirements in this field. My sisters friend whom I chose to
interview for this paper, contributed to my interest in physical therapy. By doing this research I
would like to learn the average pay for a physical therapist. Also, what are suggested classes for a
physical therapist while in college? This research will help me better understand what a physical
therapist does and will either help me lean towards or away from a career in this field. Physical
therapyhas a long and changing history. As a medical treatment, physical therapy goes back as
far as cave dwellers, but was not considered a profession until World War I. During ancient times
many places, worshiped the sun for its healing powers. Places such as Germany who worshiped
and also set up fields where people lay in the sun to get well. Different therapies that were used
throughout history contributed to physical therapy as a profession, hyper therapy, cryotherapy,
hydrotherapy, and electrotherapy. As a polio epidemic swept the United States from 1915 through
1917, many therapists services were requested to help victims recover from the effects of this
devastating illness. By the end of World War II, physical therapy was a widely accepted
therapeutic practice. Near the 19th century in Britain, physical therapy was established, and all of
the people being trained were women. The first

The Characteristics Of The Eastern Grey Kangaroo And Red...
What s your favorite animal? May not be the kangaroo because you might not know much about
them. The Kangaroo is an animal that really wouldn t pop up into your mind when people ask you
that question. Kangaroos might not be a big hyped up animal but, they re pretty interesting because
they have many features that some other animals don t. When people think about the Kangaroowhat
comes to there mind is the Eastern grey kangarooand Red Kangaroo. Why people think of the grey
kangaroo is because it s a larger species. The kangaroo s diet, the way they survive when danger s
get in the way, also different type of kangaroos, their features about them, and the reproduction.
Kangaroos are marsupials that are only found in Australia that also have pouches. They have
muscular tails, strong back legs, long pointed ears, and short fur.
This mammal is different for the reason that they have pouches. The females have mammary
glands that they carry the young ones until they re old enough to be on their own. When the
mother gives birth the baby crawls up the mother s body immediately to enter the pouch. When
the baby is inside the pouch it attaches to one of the four teats, the reason for that is so it
enlarges and to hold it inside in place. When the joey or baby is born it weighs less than a gram
also it s only about 2 cm long. Before the joey is born the mother makes sure to lick the pouch to
make sure its clean before the baby enters it. Eastern Grey Kangaroos are the most common

Canterbury Tales Nun Prioress Essay
It is human nature to want things they cannot have or to not be satisfied with their life. In the
story, The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, this human nature is most reverently displayed
in the character of Nun Prioress, because she wants to appear as a woman of higher class.
Through the use of literary elements, such as characterization, symbolism and satiric irony,
Chaucer is able to illustrate how the Nun Prioress reflects the most basic of human traits, which is
the desire to want something they cannot have. Chaucer s story clearly illustrates the idea of how
people want to be something they can t because they are not satisfied with their life. This is seen
when the Nun Prioress is first introduced in the story, as a woman who is supposed to be modest

Her mouth full small and thereto soft and red. (Chaucer 153). The color red can be seen as a
color of passion and this symbolizes how the nun does not believe in chaste love. Chaucer has
created a satiric character, nun prioress, who is supposed to be a leader of the Roman Catholic
Church but behaves like a woman of higher class. Through the use a satiric irony, Chaucer
illustrates the nature of human beings which is to want things they cannot have. This is seen
when the Nun Prioress she acts as if she is from a higher class and not humble like a typical nun.
She was so charitable and pitous (143). The nun s personality traits are what add onto the satiric
irony which include making sure to eat properly She let no morsel from her lips fall, nor wet her

Pluto And Sun Comparison
Being asked to compare my mother with my father is like being asked to compare Pluto with the
Sun. Both completely separate entities consisting of elements antagonistic to each other. Each
containing their own distinct atmosphere and climate: each having their own characteristic
qualities that affect the life surrounding them or subsequent lack thereof. To be quite honest, I don t
understand how two people that are so fundamentally different could have ever fallen in love, fallen
into each other s orbit rather. Polar opposites each on the respective opposite of the perceived solar
system. Pulled together by gravity, yet when found close together they seemed to wear on each
other. They were two entirely separate entities of course; it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Their polarity suggests as if their relationship was like the Sun was slowly engulfing Pluto into its
gravity. Coexistence was not an option, not a possibility. Thus came their inevitable, fateful, grand
end.
Like the sun, my mother s appearance is bright, recognizable and captivating. Her beauty can be
seen from great lengths and not easily circumvented. Thankfully, I take after her.
Fortunately for me, I did not inherit any of my father s aberrant or a symmetrical physical
attributes. To best describe him I would recommend visualizing something ogre like. Most
importantly, their role in my universe has always been entirely different. Their characteristic
qualities have been the defining factors in how they affect and influence the lives surrounding
them. My mother s all encompassing love, compassion and support has always been present. She is
essential to the life surrounding her, she sustains the needs of those within her gravity. She, as the
Sun, has always been close to my earthly realm always within reach.
Pluto, being so distant, is non essential. It is incapable of affecting Earth from such a far distance;
Pluto is in no way necessary for

Characteristics Of The Leopard
The Leopard
Long ago, the leopard and the Ethiopian, his white hunting companion, lived in a place called the
High Veldt. The two dominated this vast grassland, and they were able to hunt and catch any
animal they wished. Their favorite meals consisted of the plain sandy yellow brown coated giraffe
and zebra. One sunny day, the giraffe and zebra were hiding from the leopard and Ethiopian within
the shadows of the trees. Mysteriously, jagged shadow shapes appeared on the fur of the giraffe
and the zebra. The prey became permanently striped and spotted and were so well camouflaged
that the leopard and Ethiopian were now incapable of finding lunch. The two hunters knew they
needed to up their game, so the Ethiopian turned his skin black. The leopard asked his companion
to give him spots so he could blend in, too. The Ethiopian pressed his five fingertips all over the
leopard s plain coat; both of them were now camouflaged just like the giraffe and zebra.
This retelling of Rudyard Kipling s How the Leopard Got His Spots is a fanciful fable which
portrays the cunning nature of the leopard. Besides its stealthiness and competitiveness, this
spotted wonder possesses several other traits which display God s originality in creating it. In order
to understand the significance of the leopard, one must understand its physical characteristics and
behavior, unique habitat and hunting strategies, and extreme threats to its existence.

Japanese And Japanese American Museum
Extra Credit Assignment: Japanese American Museum On my visit to the Japanese American
Museum I learned plenty of History from a culture that I would have never pictured myself going
into depth with. I learned of the roots of the Japanese, religion, and injustices that they faced
throughout decades. Within all this I also learned what was the communities way of
communication. To begin with, the growing root for Japanese American communities was from
1908 1924. In Hawaiiplantation owners thought that Japanese women should migrate since they
believed the work that women provided was up to par with what they expected. In the Mainland
s men were usually single due to laws prohibiting them from marrying white women. A rising of
a anti Japanese movement called the Gentlemen s Agreement arose in 1907 8 involving
California and Japan, making it so that no more Japanese immigrants would be allowed to
migrate to U.S soil, but a loophole was found that made it possible for women to join their
families across states. Due to traditional marriages of the Japanese custom marriages would be
planned. The way this process went was an exchange of pictures and letters and eventually the wife
s moved the U.S with their future husbands but were married legally in Japan.
Next, the Japanese immigrants culture was being Buddhist, a religion that offers a spiritual path for
transcending the suffering of existence. Some of them integrated Shinto, which was an ancient
religion in Japan and the

The Rights Of Gay Rights
Gay Rights has always been a controversial topic. People have fought and argued over this simple
human right for years and now we are finally seeing progress. The Gay Rights Movement started on
1924 by Henry Gerber, founder of The Society for Human Rights, the first documented Gay Rights
organization according to CNN news. From the start homosexualitywas considered a sociopathic
personality disturbance which was diagnosed by the American Psychiatric Association in April
1952. When homosexuality became a hot topic, President Dwight D. Eisenhowersinged an
executive order that banned all homosexuals from working for the Federal Government saying
they are a security risk. Which I can see why it was signed, homosexuals are very sassy and can
put you in check which the government wouldn t like. Fast forward to 2005, the state of
California was one of the first states to pass a bill allowing same sex marriage and on June 26,
2015 the Supreme Court ruled that a state cannot ban same sex marriage which handed the best
victory for gay advocates everywhere in America. Although Gay Rights have come a long way in
America there is always room for more improvement such as discrimination on getting a job or
adopting just because of your sexual orientation.
As the LGBT community still faces laws that discriminate the LGBT community from equal
opportunities. Anti LGBT organizations make it known they do not want them to succeed. One
major Anti Gay Rights Organization is Abiding Truth

Rhetorical Devices Used In Alice In Wonderland
The Many Meanings of Alice in Wonderland Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the
Looking Glass, written by acclaimed British author Lewis Carroll, have enchanted people young
and old since their publications. Mr. Carroll uses many rhetorical devices to enhance these two
fairytales including but by no means limited to irony, symbolism, theme, metaphor, alliteration, and
ambiguity. Many types of irony are used throughout Alice s Adventures in Wonderland in particular.
One example of a particular form of ambiguity seen frequently is the use of homophones.
Homophones are words that sound the same but have different meanings such as air and heir .
Alice encounters this variety of obscurity first in chapter three after she has fallen down that fateful
rabbit hole. Situational irony in this story begins when Alice... Show more content on

In chapter three, Alice and several animals including a mouse, a duck, a dodo, a lorry, and an

discussing how they were to get dry again, Mouse spoke up. This is the driest thing I know. he
said. Mouse then began to speak in a monotonous tone about William the Conqueror and other
dull or dry things. (Wollner) Since this was obviously unable to get the group out of their soggy
state, Dodo suggested that they run a Caucus race. A caucus in politics is similar to a political
party, and a race is a contest between people, in this case for votes. The caucus race in this
fairytale is a literal race course in which There was no One, two, three, and away! but they began
running when they liked, and left off when they liked, so that it was not easy to know when the
race was over. . When Dodo decided that the race was over, he awarded prizes to everyone. This
use of ambiguity pokes fun at the political caucuses and elections of Lewis Carroll s time period.

World War 2 Dbq Analysis
During World War 2, the Treaty of Versailles was unfair to the axis powers. Inflation and war
debt just made things worse. The German population wanted a leader who could save them
from this misery, so they chose Hitler and that s how Germany became powerful after its fall,
and how Hitler began his control over Europe. Appeasement is to make someone less angry by
agreeing to their demands. Collective security is the cooperation of several countries in an
alliance to strengthen the security of each. The war was brought and the best response to
aggression was collective security. In 1939, there was a Second World War. The Munich
Agreement caused many disagreements between countries. It was performed so that it would

Walmart s high debt to equity ratio could be that they have been aggressive in financing their

Of all of the issues that confront both Judaism and Christians, the most divisive is the question
surrounding the messiahship of Jesus. The undergirding principle of Christianity is that Jesus is the
Christ. Christians believe that Jesus is the Messiah; the deliverer prophesied by the Jewish prophets
of the Old Testament (Jer. 23:5 6, Mic. 5:2, Isa. 7:14). Jewish culture except for Messianic people
and perhaps other small segments do not believe the Messiah has come. With such a theological

With a 99.8 literacy rate, Cuba is ranked higher than both Britain and the United states. The
reason for its high literacy rate is because after the revolution, the government sent out students
to go out and teach those who could not read and mainly focused on the rural parts of Cuba.
Women and afro Cubans made up most of the illiterate population, and historically they were
always targeted, however when the literacy campaign begin they were not forgotten. Education

non customized cookies of one type? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this alternative
strategy compared to what Kristen now plans?
The process capacity will not change in the short term if Kristen offers only non customized
cookies. The case study makes it clear that the process that Kristen follows requires specific
amounts of time to be spent at each step. However, in the long term, Kristen s capacity will
increase as she becomes more adept at making the one type of cookie she has elected to make.
This will reduce the time required at some of the process steps (but not necessarily all) and
ultimately increase the output capacity her and her roommate are able to achieve.
Pros of non customized cookies:
Time spent shopping will be reduced, as will overall variability in price of ingredients.
Kristen and her roommate will become more efficient due to standardization
They will become much better at making one type of cookie rather than many; total flow time will

The Controversy Over Creationism And Evolution
Introduction The controversy over Creationism and Evolution is a widely debated topic,
especially when it comes to what is being taught in the biology classrooms in public schools today.
It may be hard to imagine, but just over 100 years ago the curriculum and beliefs would have
looked dramatically different. One central court case that created a spark of bringing evolutionto
public schools was the infamous Scopes trial of 1925 in which science teacher John Scopes
challenged Tennessee state law and taught evolution in his high school science class. Tennessee
state legislature had passed a bill, known as the Butler Act just months before, banning the teaching
of evolution. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) represented Scopes after his arrest in a
case that riveted public attention. Although at trial Scopes was ultimately found guilty, the Butler
Act was no longer enforced and laws prohibiting evolution being taught in the classroom continually
were defeated over the course of the next two years. In 1968, the ACLU went to the Supreme Court
on behalf of Susan Epperson to fight against the ban on teaching evolution in Arkansas. The
Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the ban as unconstitutional as the First Amendment under
the Establishment clause does not allow teachings to tailor to certain religions ( State of Tennessee
V. Scopes, n.d.). For this project, we ll take a deeper look at this controversy. With evolution being
the commonly accepted theory among

My First Year In High School
Have you ever looked up from whatever you were doing and see the girl that you want to spend
your whole life with, the girl who shares some characteristics with you, who is looking right at
you, but you are too scared to say or do anything? It was autumn and the air was cold and crisp.
The bell just rang Kotaro! Let s go, don t wantto be late to class on the first day of school! Yama
said with excitement in his voice. I ll be right there! I said as I packed my belongings into my
backpack. This is my third year in high school, and next year is my last, so I have to make these
days count. As I walked towards the school entrance, leaves were blown into the air by the wind
and the smell of oak wood trees filled my lungs. There were students everywhere enlightened to get
to class; the sound of autumn leaves crackling when students stepped on them made a very
satisfying sound to new. I could still taste the flavour of my peanut buttersandwich that I had this
morning for breakfast; It was quite cold out, so I had my hands inside my pocket, gasping for
warmness. Hey Yama! I m here, let s head to class now. I said. Yeah Kotaro, I m so happy that
we have our first class together! Yama said excitedly. Yes, I m happy for us too! My sophomore
and freshmen ear consisted of mostly C s and D s because I put too much time into my novels. I
m a very quiet person, and Yama is like my only friend, but I plan to make more friends this year.
I often think about my future but can t express it to anyone but Yama because I m a very shy person.
Classroom number 46, history. We re here Kotaro! Let s see who our teacher is and meet our
classmates. Yama said as we stepped into the classroom. There were two empty seats in the front
of the class, so that s where we decided to sit. Our teacher is a girl and her name is Ms. Azumi. She
made me and Yama introduce ourselves and so we did.
Salutations, my name is Kotaro and I m a junior. I said shyly.
Goodmorning, my name is Yama and I m a junior as well! He said loudly and happily. After school
ended, I waved goodbye to Yama as he walked home. My first day back at school felt great even
though nothing special happened. I ve never felt this good on the first day of

The National Labor Relations Board Essay
Abstract
The recent decision made by the National Labor Relations Board granted collective bargaining
rights to graduate student workers and researchers. The focus on the decision was primarily based
on the wording or a statutory employee as defined in Section (2)3 of the National Labor Relations
Act and ultimately the reversal of the 2004 Brown University decision against the groups legitimate
reasoning and desire to unionize. University administrators were against student worker
unionization and cited that academy freedom would be encroached on as well as a deteriorated
student faculty relationship. Proponents to the decision cite poor wages, limited access to
healthcare and respect as well as empirical evidence discrediting administrator s claims as making
unionization the most viable option.
Support for the decision of Case 02 RC 143012, The Trustees of Columbia University in the City
of New York and Graduate Workers of Columbia GWC, UAW The National Labor Relations
Board (the Board) has had authority over non profit, private universities for over forty five years
and on numerous occasions applied remedy to cases involving university faculty. Historically, this
type of recognition has been afforded only to faculty, the ability to collectively bargain had not been
granted to its graduate student workers and researchers but their desire to unionization is not a new
concept (Board: Student Assistants Covered by the NLRA, 2016). Graduate students at public

Richard Muhlfeld s His Quintet For Clarinet, 2 Violins,...
In his Quintet for Clarinet, 2 Violins, Viola, and Cello Op. 115, Brahms creates an important and
influential work in the chamber music repertoire. By writing his Quintet for the specific clarinetist
Richard MГјhlfeld s artistic brilliance, and by taking musical liberties with conventional forms and
expectations, Brahms crafts the intimacy and seriousness one has come to expect from chamber
music. Towards the end of his life, Brahms had intended on retiring from composing. Around 1891,
the Meiningen orchestra, with whom Richard MГјhlfeld held his career with, frequently featured
Brahms s music at well known festivals in the area. Previous to meeting MГјhlfeld, Brahms had no
interest in centering his writing onto the clarinet. He felt the... Show more content on

The Joachim Quartet concerts were known for being a major series performing strictly string
chamber music. Brahms had convinced Joachim with his manuscripts that the work was worthy of
the sacrifice of adding clarinet and piano to the series. The highly regarded reputation of the
Joachim concerts certainly allowed for the seriousness of the Quintet to be featured, for all of the
cleaver composition techniques Brahms employed were certainly appreciated by the intellectual
audiences the Quartet frequently attracted. The Quintet follows the general guidelines for form that
audiences of the time have come to expect from serious string chamber music pieces. The first
movement acts as a Sonata form with some unexpected variation, the second as a three part song
form. The third and fourth movements begin to some unconventional practices. In the third, instead
of a scherzo movement in 3/4 time, we get a sonata allegro in 4/4 and 2/4 time. In the fourth, the
audience gets a theme and variations, but the tempo is considerably slower than what one would
normally expect from a concluding movement. In 1891, the only memorable clarinet quintet was
composed by Mozart. If one were to come into a performance of the Brahms Quintet with Mozart s
Quintet in mind, they would expect the clarinet to take the most important role, with the strings
accompanying more often than not. This is certainly not the case in Brahms s work, as the

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart s Overture
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart s overture to The Marriage of Figaro brings together all the
components and styles of the classical period. With it being an overture, it sets the mood and
allows people to get ready for the opera they are about to watch. Mozart was one of the greatest
composers to ever resonate from the classical period and his music is still studied and played
worldwide today. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
was born in 1756 in Salzburg. (Kem) Recognized for
his works at an extremely young age, Mozart was playing the harpsicord by the age of four and
had written his first operaby the age of eight. (Wright) He was highly educated and exceedingly
well known throughout Europe. The early parts of his career were spent waiting at the beck and
call of people in high political power until 1781. In 1781, Mozart moved to Vienna, Austria to
become a freelance composer, teacher, and pianist. (Kem) Most composers in the Classical era
worked for the aristocracy. Mozart being a freelance composer left him in serious finical trouble
by the end of his career. (Kem) Although he lived a short life, dying at the age of thirty five, but
his time in this world was not wasted. During his lifespan, he wrote over six hundred pieces of
work ranging from operas, piano concertos, symphonies, and serenades. (Kem) One of his opera
buffas that stood out in his career was The Marriage of Figaro. The French writer Pierre Augustin

Joy Is Not Just Happiness
In our everyday lives, joy has become synonymous with both happiness and pleasure. We have
diminished the meaning of the word by using it in place of the more appropriate terms in order to
provide emphasis. C.S. Lewis takes more literal definition of joy, and so assigns it more
significance in his mind, separating it from any other emotion. Though he acknowledges that
oftentimes happiness and pleasure occur simultaneously with joy, they are not the root cause,
nor are they the same emotion. I think the best distinction Lewis makes between happiness and
pleasure is when he states Joy... must have the stab, the pang, the inconsolable longing (Lewis
72). This look into the root of joy demonstrates that joy is not just happiness, it is more complex
and not always a fully positive emotion. There can be sadness and longing behind the joy, but it
does not diminish the great properties of joy. Because joy is so great it is often sought, but as
Lewis says it is never a possession, always a desire for something longer ago or further away or
still about to be (Lewis 78). The fleeting nature of joy only adds to the intrigue, as it often comes at
the most unexpected times. Lewis recognizes this, as he titled the book Surprised by Joy. Lewis also
thinks that one s definition of joy is constantly changing with our experiences. As he learned more
about some subject, one that used to bring him joy to study, he realizes that this was something
quite different from the original Joy.

Apple Sourcing Analysis
The Sourcing Plan Rafdahl (2014) believed that strategic sourcing is critical for a business to
remain competitive. Apart from this, it is through sourcing plan that a company is able to sustain
its future growth potential. Relative to this assertion, it is vital for Apple Inc. to align its
procurement processes and supplier choices not only with the demands of its consumers but also
the demands of business in general. Rafdahl (2014) provided 7 steps for a company to maximize
its sourcing effort. Apple Inc. can consider this step by step process to meet future demands.
1.Initial Spend Analysis. In this step, Rafdahl (2014) mentioned that there is a need to review and

Market Analysis. Rafdahl (2014) asserted that companies should have a list not only of incumbent
suppliers, but also potential alternative ones. In line with this assertion, it is significant for Apple
Inc. to know suppliers which have good service reputations. Further, the company must also
determine what the suppliers can offer, such as its expertise to meet Apple s high standard and its
ability to fulfill both the present and future needs. Apart from these, the suppliers should
consistently deliver quality products and services, and promote ideas and products that would
advance Apple s competitiveness, profitability, and success. 4.Strategy. Although Apple s strategy
is already commendable, it is necessary for the company to develop strategies to meet the
changing conditions of business. Rafdahl (2014) believed that in doing so, it should consider the
collaborative efforts it must undertake together with its suppliers to increase efficiencies and
reduce costs. Further, Apple must yearn to enhance its business process so that its products are
also improved. Considerably, there is also a need for Apple to have inventory reduction and

A Company Which Is Publicly Traded In The U.S. Is Required
A company which is publicly traded in the U.S. is required to submit the 10 K form to Securities
and Exchange Commission (SEC) once a year. The 10 K form is a comprehensive report of a
company s performance. This report is essential to an investor for evaluating a company s financial
health. For this assignment, I have chosen to consider Macy s Inc. 10 K form and evaluate its
financial condition. I am going to discuss about Macy s Merchandise Inventories including the
inventorymethod used by Macy s, Cost of Sales to net Sales Ratio, Inventory Turnover and Days in
Inventory.
Macy s Inc. Merchandise Inventories
Merchandise Inventory is a material acquired by a retailer for the purpose of selling it to the third
party. The three methods... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, it is legal under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Since the U.S. complies
with the GAAP guidelines, most of the retail industries use LIFO method of inventory.
Macy s Inc. reported merchandise inventories of $5506 millions and $5399 millions during the
financial year of 2015 and 2016 respectively (Macy s 10 K form, p. 60). This resulted in Macy s
merchandise inventory declining by $107 million ($5506 $5399 = $107) from 2015 to 2016. Thus,
the percentage decrease in inventory would be 1.94 %. Percentage Change = ($5399 $5506) $5506
x 100 = 107 5506 x 100 = 0.0194 x 100 = 1.94 %
Cost of Sales and Net Sales
Cost of Sales and Net Sales are another important component of an income statement for assessing
a company s financial health. As mentioned in Macy s 10K form, the cost of the sales and net sales
in 2015 were $16,496 millions and $27,079 millions respectively. Whereas the cost of sales and net
sales in 2016 were $15,621 millions and $25,778 millions respectively (p. 16). Therefore, the ratio
of cost of sales to net sales in 2015 would be 0.609 or 60.9% ($16,496/$27,079 = 0.6091) and the
ratio of cost of sales to net sales in 2016 would be 0.605 or 60.5% ($15,621/$25,778 = 0.605). The
ratio of cost of sales to net sales is a part of ratio analysis, which is used to check the efficiency of
the business (Kumar, 2012). It is also used to calculate the gross

The Magical World Of Disney World
At the age of eight, it was finally time for little Timmy to experience the magical world of
Disney World. His parents had spent the past two years, saving up just enough money for a three
night stay at one of the resorts in Orlando. Saving the money was no easy task, as they had to
often make some tough choices on where to spend less in their daily routine. They would save
with little things such as eating in rather than spending an extraordinary amount of amount
money on fancy restaurants. They believed the resulting trip to Disney world would pay off and
make up for the lousy home cooked meals. Of course, while booking the trip, they knew that
time would be scarce and a solid plan on how to get the most out of a three night trip was crucial.
They decided that since most of their time would be spent outside and within the amusement
parks, a cheap hotel would suffice and more money could be spent on an all park pass along
with extra fast passes to skip the long lines. They also decided it was worth buying a plane ticket
rather than make the long drive up to Florida from Boston. They knew the experience of flying
in a plane would be well worth the extra $500 they could be saving otherwise. The father, Jim,
used his experience as a long time traveling salesman to book the perfect flight plan for his family.
He recognized that the flights later in the day would allow them to avoid more traffic on the way
there while also getting some extra sleep, but, at the cost of time that

Essay Alternative Energy Sources for the World
The world has relied on the same sources of fuels and delivery systems for at least the past one
hundred years. Since the turn of the Industrial Revolution, the world has been dependent on coal,
oil, and other natural resources. These sources of fuel have worked fine for the world, until now.
At the rate it that these fuels are used the world may one day run out of these precious resources.
Our society must prepare now to utilize an alternate source for its fuel. The longer the world waits,
the harder it will be to replace these fuels before they run out. Four different types of fuels are
currently under research. These fuels are hydrogen, natural gas, bio fuels, and solar energy.
Currently under research is a new type of motor, known as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

1). In a process known as electrolysis, hydrogen is created by applying electricity to water. When
applied to water, electricity breaks down the water into bubbles of oxygen and hydrogen gases.
Some argue that this process would require electricity produced by current fuel sources.
However, this electricity could also be supplied by solar energy. Once created hydrogen must
then be stored and distributed. Hydrogen must be stored at super high pressures as a liquid.
Once stored, the hydrogen will then be converted back into a gas. This area of research is
making large strides to develop this storage technology. Once the researchers can overcome this
stage, it will be more readily available to the public. The infrastructure for hydrogen could be
adapted from the current system that is used. The gas, stations, and fueling stations could already
act as a means of distribution. This means hydrogen may one day be a logical replacement for
conventional fuels. Another promising type of fuel that can replace conventional fuels is natural
gas. Natural gas, found along with conventional fuels, is very abundant. Nearly 85% of natural gas
is made of methane (Gotlib, par. 1). It is found among the same petroleum deposits that
conventional oil is found or in sole gas deposits (Gotlib, par. 1). This gas has been around since the

Also in the movie the train almost had an accident unlike the book. They put this in the movie
so it could build up to that scene as a climax to scare the viewers that something might happen. In
the trailer for the movie, it even shows the train getting into an accident so the viewers will want
to go see what happens to the train. As well as the movie adding the songs, it also added the kids
getting a special ticket. Each child had a certain a letter at the beginning of their train ride,
punched by the conductor. When the kids were done experiencing the North Pole, the conductor
punched out a word pertaining to each kid. The main kid got the word believe punched into his
ticket because he did not believe in Santa at the beginning of the movie. The African American
girl got leader punched into her ticket because she was the one that always knew what to do.
The poor boy, Billy, also got believe because he didn t think Santa was real either. This leads into
the most important difference between the book and the movie. In the movie it depicts that
going to the North Pole to see Santa was all a dream, while in the book it made it all seem real.
When children go see this movie, they might think that since the boy is having a dream that Santa
must not be real. A lot of research has been done about kids believing in Santa. Gail Vines wrote
about the Santa delusion from psychologist s perspectives. According to Gail Vines (2007),

Avoiding a Malthusian Catastrophe
Thomas Malthus once said, The power of population is indefinitely greater than the power in the
earth to produce subsistence for man. Albert Einstein might argue, on the other hand, Necessity is
the mother of all invention, albeit in another context. So, which is it? Are we doomed to unchecked
population growth followed by Malthusian catastrophe, or can we avoid it through increased food
production, decreasing populationgrowth rates, or some other means?
To say Malthusian catastrophe is inevitable is completely unwarranted. Is it possible? Certainly it is
only logical that if human population reached levels which far outstripped food supply, the
resulting global famine would create easily ignitable tensions between nations, and ... Show more

This spread in the demographic data available to contemporary researchers show that as nations
become more developed, fertility rates do not increase exponentially as predicted, nor even linearly,
but eventually plateau or potentially even decrease. This concept, demographic transition, has many
contributing factors, many of which are uncertain. Still, even if these influences are poorly
constrained, the overall trend towards replacement rates of reproduction is well established. The
best example of steady and sustainable population levels is the European Union. The EU is highly
industrially and agriculturally developed, yet has growth rates near zero percent, and not only a
sufficient domestic food supply, but an exportable surplus of grains.
Some detractors may be quick to point out that this is not the case in many developing countries
like India and Sudan, which face shortages of food and resources that are exacerbated by their rapid
growth rate. While true, such criticisms do not stand up to the wealth of data showing a strongly
correlated positive feedback loop between increasing education and economic gains and falling
fertility rates. That is, once such nations in the second phase of demographic transition receive or
implement educational and economic improvements, the resulting chain reaction can move them
into the third phase of sustainability before the population can outgrow their resources.

It was painted and completed by Joseph Mallord William Turner in England around 1820 and is
an oil on canvas painting created during the romanticism era. The story behind this piece is,
when a slave ship set out on a voyage they would pack the ships full of slaves, and along the way

  • 2. aircraft icing Essay Introduction Plane crashes occur for a number of reasons. There seems to be a consensus with the general public that flying is dangerous, engines fail and planes crash. That is true some times, although the majority of plane crashes occur largely due to a combination of human error and mechanical failure. In much of aviations accidents mechanical failure has been a contributing factor. It is impossible however to blame plane crashes on one reason since events leading up to an accident are so varied. Reasoning for plane crashes can be placed in a broad number of categories. Environmental conditions play a vital part in aviation as a whole. Much planning goes into a flight based on the current and forecast weather conditions for safety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This accident could have been avoided if proper procedure was followed in deicing. The NTSB investigation concluded that the combination of the crew s use of thrust reverse on the ground for push back, and their failure to active the engine anti ice system caused the crash. By failing to activate the engine anti ice system, large amounts of snow and ice that were sucked into the engines during reverse thrust were allowed to remain there. Ice built up on the compressor inlet pressure probe, which measures engine power. As a result instrument indications in the cockpit showed an Engine Pressure Ratio of 2.04, while the power plants were in reality only producing 1.70 EPR, or about 70% of available power. The combination of the ice covered wings and low power caused an immediate stall on takeoff killing 74 people. (Kilroy, 9). In Americans Eagle Flight 4184 October 31, 1994, heavy air traffic and poor weather postponed the arrival of this flight at Chicago s O Hare International Airport, where it was to have landed en route from Indianapolis, Indiana. The ATR 72, a twin engine turboprop carrying 68 people, entered a holding pattern 65 miles southeast of O Hare, which it maintained for over an hour in freezing rain. As the plane circled, a ridge of ice formed on the upper surface of its wings, eventually causing the aircraft s autopilot to suddenly disconnect and the pilots to lose control. The ATR disintegrated on impact with a field below, killing everyone aboard. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The American Dream In Jon Krakauer s Into The Wild The major tenets of the quintessential American dream can be found in the ideology of every person proud to be an American. The America seen today is not the same as it was 50 years prior, so how can one expect the central dream to be the same? In fact, each person has developed an opinion on what the American dream may mean for him/her. For one, the dream may still be the white picket fence still life from so many years ago, but for another, it may be the accumulation of riches and fame. In Jon Krakauers Into the Wild, he shows us that Chris McCandless cared not for the quotidian rat race he had grown so accustomed to, but more for the intricacies that the natural world had to offer. I believe that although Chris McCandless may not have made it out of Alaska alive, he still succeeded in discovering what he went there for, and in turn died fulfilling his own American dream. The dictionary defines the American dream as the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity traditionally held to be available to every American. Chris McCandless came from a wealthy family with everything he could ever need being provided for him. His parents had achieved the conventional American dream. They had enough money to provide for their family and then some, a nice home, and a good education for the whole family. To the outsider looking in, it would be easy to assume that Chris McCandless had a perfect life full of everything he desired and unrelenting happiness. This was not the case. ... • 4. Essay on The Visual Analysis of The Gleaners The Gleaners (Des glaneuses) is an oil painting, 83.8 cm Г— 111.8 cm (33 in Г— 44 in), created by French realist painter Jean Francois Millet in 1857. The piece of oil painting vividly depicts the nineteenth century French rural life, with a rich flavor of harvest. Jean Francois Millet arranges the farm as the main scene of background, and aims at three women gleaners being bent to pick up ears of wheat. Through the observation of the painting, we can see three peasant women occupy in the center of the screen, each bending with different angles, while their eyes all raking down to the ground. To contrast with the distant crowd, they wear coarse clothes and clunky wooden shoes, having robust statures. It is not appropriate to say that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As some parts of background are closer to the light source than the front, they are applied with brighter hues, high in value. In addition, Millet places things like haystack, trees and farmhouse in the back, and peasant women in the front. Hence. On the basis the positions of objects, the principle of line perspective, and the relative distance to the viewer, three gleaners visually appear within a larger proportion on the painting. In other words, the front figures sizes are bigger than the back objects . Further more, in the painting, the Gleaners , the entire screen is filled with contrast elements. First of all, the main figures in the front labor scene are full of rich vigor, contrasting to the background with silent objects such as hay, trees and farmhouse. Secondly, the color brightness of the front contrast to the back, as well as the comparison of relative sizes between figures and scenery, applying the principle of perspective. What s more, the most classic is the horizontal line, the intersection of the sky and the ground, contrasting with the light source, from the top left. Consequently, 2D and 3D spatial effects are combined precisely. Meanwhile, the sense of space of the image is strengthened as well. The plot of Citizen Kane is not in a random order but in a very thought out logical order. Orson Wells used the order of scenes to affect how the viewer would see another later in the movie without making the movie too long or separating the scenes too much. For example, he showed Kane losing control of his media empire and then later showed him first buying his newspaper business. This order made a more suspenseful viewing for the ... • 11. Canterbury Tales Nun Prioress Essay It is human nature to want things they cannot have or to not be satisfied with their life. In the story, The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, this human nature is most reverently displayed in the character of Nun Prioress, because she wants to appear as a woman of higher class. Through the use of literary elements, such as characterization, symbolism and satiric irony, Chaucer is able to illustrate how the Nun Prioress reflects the most basic of human traits, which is the desire to want something they cannot have. Chaucer s story clearly illustrates the idea of how people want to be something they can t because they are not satisfied with their life. The two dominated this vast grassland, and they were able to hunt and catch any animal they wished. Their favorite meals consisted of the plain sandy yellow brown coated giraffe and zebra. One sunny day, the giraffe and zebra were hiding from the leopard and Ethiopian within the shadows of the trees. Mysteriously, jagged shadow shapes appeared on the fur of the giraffe and the zebra. The prey became permanently striped and spotted and were so well camouflaged that the leopard and Ethiopian were now incapable of finding lunch. The two hunters knew they needed to up their game, so the Ethiopian turned his skin black. The leopard asked his companion to give him spots so he could blend in, too. The Ethiopian pressed his five fingertips all over the leopard s plain coat; both of them were now camouflaged just like the giraffe and zebra. To begin with, the growing root for Japanese American communities was from 1908 1924. In Hawaiiplantation owners thought that Japanese women should migrate since they believed the work that women provided was up to par with what they expected. In the Mainland s men were usually single due to laws prohibiting them from marrying white women. A rising of a anti Japanese movement called the Gentlemen s Agreement arose in 1907 8 involving California and Japan, making it so that no more Japanese immigrants would be allowed to migrate to U.S soil, but a loophole was found that made it possible for women to join their families across states. • 23. The Controversy Over Creationism And Evolution Introduction The controversy over Creationism and Evolution is a widely debated topic, especially when it comes to what is being taught in the biology classrooms in public schools today. It may be hard to imagine, but just over 100 years ago the curriculum and beliefs would have looked dramatically different. One central court case that created a spark of bringing evolutionto public schools was the infamous Scopes trial of 1925 in which science teacher John Scopes challenged Tennessee state law and taught evolution in his high school science class. Tennessee state legislature had passed a bill, known as the Butler Act just months before, banning the teaching of evolution. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) represented Scopes after his arrest in a case that riveted public attention. Although at trial Scopes was ultimately found guilty, the Butler Act was no longer enforced and laws prohibiting evolution being taught in the classroom continually were defeated over the course of the next two years. In 1968, the ACLU went to the Supreme Court on behalf of Susan Epperson to fight against the ban on teaching evolution in Arkansas. The Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the ban as unconstitutional as the First Amendment under the Establishment clause does not allow teachings to tailor to certain religions ( State of Tennessee V. Scopes, n.d.). For this project, we ll take a deeper look at this controversy. With evolution being the commonly accepted theory among ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We have diminished the meaning of the word by using it in place of the more appropriate terms in order to provide emphasis. C.S. Lewis takes more literal definition of joy, and so assigns it more significance in his mind, separating it from any other emotion. Though he acknowledges that oftentimes happiness and pleasure occur simultaneously with joy, they are not the root cause, nor are they the same emotion. I think the best distinction Lewis makes between happiness and pleasure is when he states Joy... must have the stab, the pang, the inconsolable longing (Lewis 72). This look into the root of joy demonstrates that joy is not just happiness, it is more complex and not always a fully positive emotion. There can be sadness and longing behind the joy, but it does not diminish the great properties of joy. Because joy is so great it is often sought, but as Lewis says it is never a possession, always a desire for something longer ago or further away or still about to be (Lewis 78). The fleeting nature of joy only adds to the intrigue, as it often comes at the most unexpected times. Lewis recognizes this, as he titled the book Surprised by Joy. Lewis also thinks that one s definition of joy is constantly changing with our experiences. Apart from this, it is through sourcing plan that a company is able to sustain its future growth potential. Relative to this assertion, it is vital for Apple Inc. to align its procurement processes and supplier choices not only with the demands of its consumers but also the demands of business in general. Rafdahl (2014) provided 7 steps for a company to maximize its sourcing effort. Apple Inc. can consider this step by step process to meet future demands. 1.Initial Spend Analysis. Market Analysis. Rafdahl (2014) asserted that companies should have a list not only of incumbent suppliers, but also potential alternative ones. In line with this assertion, it is significant for Apple Inc. to know suppliers which have good service reputations. Further, the company must also determine what the suppliers can offer, such as its expertise to meet Apple s high standard and its ability to fulfill both the present and future needs. Apart from these, the suppliers should consistently deliver quality products and services, and promote ideas and products that would advance Apple s competitiveness, profitability, and success. 4.Strategy. Although Apple s strategy is already commendable, it is necessary for the company to develop strategies to meet the changing conditions of business. Rafdahl (2014) believed that in doing so, it should consider the collaborative efforts it must undertake together with its suppliers to increase efficiencies and reduce costs. Further, Apple must yearn to enhance its business process so that its products are also improved. A Company Which Is Publicly Traded In The U.S. Is Required A company which is publicly traded in the U.S. is required to submit the 10 K form to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) once a year. The 10 K form is a comprehensive report of a company s performance. This report is essential to an investor for evaluating a company s financial health. For this assignment, I have chosen to consider Macy s Inc. 10 K form and evaluate its financial condition. I am going to discuss about Macy s Merchandise Inventories including the inventorymethod used by Macy s, Cost of Sales to net Sales Ratio, Inventory Turnover and Days in Inventory. Macy s Inc. Merchandise Inventories Merchandise Inventory is a material acquired by a retailer for the purpose of selling it to the third party. The three methods... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet, it is legal under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Since the U.S. complies with the GAAP guidelines, most of the retail industries use LIFO method of inventory. Macy s Inc. reported merchandise inventories of $5506 millions and $5399 millions during the financial year of 2015 and 2016 respectively (Macy s 10 K form, p. 60). This resulted in Macy s merchandise inventory declining by $107 million ($5506 $5399 = $107) from 2015 to 2016. Thus, the percentage decrease in inventory would be 1.94 %. Percentage Change = ($5399 $5506) $5506 x 100 = 107 5506 x 100 = 0.0194 x 100 = 1.94 % Cost of Sales and Net Sales Cost of Sales and Net Sales are another important component of an income statement for assessing a company s financial health. As mentioned in Macy s 10K form, the cost of the sales and net sales in 2015 were $16,496 millions and $27,079 millions respectively. Whereas the cost of sales and net sales in 2016 were $15,621 millions and $25,778 millions respectively (p. 16). Therefore, the ratio of cost of sales to net sales in 2015 would be 0.609 or 60.9% ($16,496/$27,079 = 0.6091) and the ratio of cost of sales to net sales in 2016 would be 0.605 or 60.5% ($15,621/$25,778 = 0.605). The ratio of cost of sales to net sales is a part of ratio analysis, which is used to check the efficiency of the business (Kumar, 2012). It is also used to calculate the gross ... His parents had spent the past two years, saving up just enough money for a three night stay at one of the resorts in Orlando. Saving the money was no easy task, as they had to often make some tough choices on where to spend less in their daily routine. They would save with little things such as eating in rather than spending an extraordinary amount of amount money on fancy restaurants. They believed the resulting trip to Disney world would pay off and make up for the lousy home cooked meals. Of course, while booking the trip, they knew that time would be scarce and a solid plan on how to get the most out of a three night trip was crucial. They decided that since most of their time would be spent outside and within the amusement parks, a cheap hotel would suffice and more money could be spent on an all park pass along with extra fast passes to skip the long lines. They also decided it was worth buying a plane ticket rather than make the long drive up to Florida from Boston. They knew the experience of flying in a plane would be well worth the extra $500 they could be saving otherwise. The father, Jim, used his experience as a long time traveling salesman to book the perfect flight plan for his family. Since the turn of the Industrial Revolution, the world has been dependent on coal, oil, and other natural resources. These sources of fuel have worked fine for the world, until now. At the rate it that these fuels are used the world may one day run out of these precious resources. Our society must prepare now to utilize an alternate source for its fuel. The longer the world waits, the harder it will be to replace these fuels before they run out. Four different types of fuels are currently under research. These fuels are hydrogen, natural gas, bio fuels, and solar energy. Currently under research is a new type of motor, known as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1). In a process known as electrolysis, hydrogen is created by applying electricity to water. When applied to water, electricity breaks down the water into bubbles of oxygen and hydrogen gases. Some argue that this process would require electricity produced by current fuel sources. However, this electricity could also be supplied by solar energy. Once created hydrogen must then be stored and distributed. Hydrogen must be stored at super high pressures as a liquid. Once stored, the hydrogen will then be converted back into a gas. This area of research is making large strides to develop this storage technology. Once the researchers can overcome this stage, it will be more readily available to the public. The infrastructure for hydrogen could be adapted from the current system that is used. The gas, stations, and fueling stations could already act as a means of distribution. This means hydrogen may one day be a logical replacement for conventional fuels. Another promising type of fuel that can replace conventional fuels is natural gas. Natural gas, found along with conventional fuels, is very abundant. Nearly 85% of natural gas is made of methane (Gotlib, par. 1). It is found among the same petroleum deposits that conventional oil is found or in sole gas deposits (Gotlib, par. 1). This gas has been around since the beginning of time. As well as the movie adding the songs, it also added the kids getting a special ticket. Each child had a certain a letter at the beginning of their train ride, punched by the conductor. Albert Einstein might argue, on the other hand, Necessity is the mother of all invention, albeit in another context. So, which is it? Are we doomed to unchecked population growth followed by Malthusian catastrophe, or can we avoid it through increased food production, decreasing populationgrowth rates, or some other means? To say Malthusian catastrophe is inevitable is completely unwarranted. Is it possible? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This spread in the demographic data available to contemporary researchers show that as nations become more developed, fertility rates do not increase exponentially as predicted, nor even linearly, but eventually plateau or potentially even decrease. This concept, demographic transition, has many contributing factors, many of which are uncertain. Still, even if these influences are poorly constrained, the overall trend towards replacement rates of reproduction is well established. The best example of steady and sustainable population levels is the European Union. The EU is highly industrially and agriculturally developed, yet has growth rates near zero percent, and not only a sufficient domestic food supply, but an exportable surplus of grains. Some detractors may be quick to point out that this is not the case in many developing countries like India and Sudan, which face shortages of food and resources that are exacerbated by their rapid growth rate. While true, such criticisms do not stand up to the wealth of data showing a strongly correlated positive feedback loop between increasing education and economic gains and falling fertility rates. That is, once such nations in the second phase of demographic transition receive or implement educational and economic improvements, the resulting chain reaction can move them into the third phase of sustainability before the population can outgrow their resources. ...
