Digging Julia Alvarez Analysis
Being children at one point in life. People could agree that parents are a tremendous influence on the
growth and success in their children s lives. Like many; children tend to inherit skills that parents
perform to guide them to the right path in life. In Digging by Seamus Heaney , Women s Work by
Julia Alvarez, and A Red Palm by Gary Sato; they all display a clear perception that; children inherit
skills from their parents, it s ok to leave their view on society behind and embrace their own.
Blossoming and evolving on a potato farm, the young boy learned and inherited a strong work ethic
from his father and his grandfather. As the child grew up he learned how hard his father and

The uneducated father who works in the cotton field lives a life that he regrets and doesn t want his
son to live. He who has to suffer from all the punishments on his body due to the labor of the cotton
farm dreads his past and says you were a fool in school, now look at you, (Soto 30). The father who
looks at himself as a disappointment makes sure that his son gets an education so he could live a better
life than he s living. His son who admires the hard work of his father, receives an education and
prospers in math. His father, who asks his son what forty times nine?, (Soto 36). Answers it correctly,

How The Movie Screen Changed American History
Widescreen Movie Screen No one knew that one day this would be the an invention that would
change American history for a lifetime. The Widescreen projector ( also known as the Movie Screen )
is a huge part of American culture today. Millions of people continuously go and watch movies. Many
people go to the movies for so many reason. The Widescreen projector was also a multi billion dollar
company. Even if you owned maybe a theater in a small town, you still make some nice money. Now
it all begins who invented this amazing creation that pretty much changed the world in a matter how
little time. Now there were actually two men that invented this . There names were George K Spoor
and John P. Berggren. George was born in HIghland IL and died ... Show more content on

Many people was not to sure what this invention really was until later on. It was a bright and sunny
day when the first movie screen production came out. Many people were walking their children, and
taking them to the park , or down the road to get some tasty ice cream to cool them off for a bit.
People didn t know what to think when these doors opened for the first time in well ever. In 1905 this
was a year that an invention changed American history. Now you are probably wondering where was
the movie screen first made and watched. To answer your wonders, the movie screen was invented in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was invented or the first movie ran was show in an old run down building
that had little to no air conditioning. Yes, Pennsylvania is located in the United States, which is also
maybe known as North America. Pennsylvania is one of the largest states in the East. Many people
wonder was the first movie really in Pittsburgh and I promise you it was. The movie screen invention
is so changing in American culture for so many different ways. We make millions off of movies. The
screen make millions just by itself. The movie screen is one thing that I think will never die because it

Tattoo Influence On American Culture
The electric tattoo machine, invented by Samuel O Reilly, revolutionized the tattoo industry.
Previously a niche activity only practiced by native groups and upper class Westerners, tattooing
became a widespread American practice. Margo DeMello, a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology, declares,
Tattooing...is as American as baseball, Mom, and apple pie . Tattooing did not originate in America,
but styles and technology originating in America have significantly shaped the modern, global tattoo
scene. O Reilly s tattoo machine brought tattooing to the main stage of the American consciousness by
making tattoos available to the masses. His machine made tattooing faster and less expensive. The
innovation specifically allowed lower classes to get tattooed and this caused the cultural perspective of
tattoos to shift. Due to the huge investment of time and money that getting tattooed previously
required, it was considered a mark of wealth. This association was quickly shed once the lower class

James Cook and his crew were the first Westerners to write about Polynesian tattooing practices. In
his reports back to Britain, he illustrated the tattoos he encountered along with the other cultural
practices he witnessed (See Appendix A). Cook also brought the Tahitian word tatu or tatau to the
West (prior to this introduction tattoos were known as pricks or marks in Europe) . Through three
voyages through the Pacific, many crewmembers received tattoos as souvenirs. Cook s 1774 trip to the
South Seas brought Mai , a tattooed Tahitian, to Britain (See Appendix A). Mai served as a guide and
interpreter to Cook and his crew, but upon return to England he was set on display in museums and
fairs. Europe s first exposure to tattoos framed the practice as exotic. Tattoos were seen as something
that strange people in very distant lands did to their bodies.

King Arthur Themes
The film King Arthur differs in a great propensity with the traditional Arthurian tale. The elements
which represent the medieval society and which forms the key aspect of the traditional tale, have not
been included. The Holy Grail, a vital motif that is persistent in the traditional tale of King Arthur is
dropped from the cinematic representation of the tale. The film differs from the tale on multitudinous
accounts, for instance there is an absence of the love affair between Lancelot and Guinevere in the
movie. Moreover, the film chooses to not include Camelot, Avalon and Mordred. Important characters
like Mordred, the archetypical villain in the traditional tale of King Arthur is not ascribed to any
significance in the film. The character of Guinevere is indispensable in the Arthurian legend as well as
in the movie. However, the very characteristic of Guinevere is represented in a dynamically polar
opposite fashion in both the traditional tale of King Arthur and the movie. Contrary to the ancient tale,
Guinevere is no damsel in distress in the movie. The representation of Guinevere in the movie as a
warrior queen who partakes in the war along with King Arthur is emblematic as it does not depict the
character of a woman in the light of the gender typicality. It is an important alteration that the movie
chooses to make from the traditional tale.
There is no place accorded to the whimsical characters, situations or the places that over popularizes
the idea of the

Cultural Diversity Essay
What is culture? Are we that different? The English Anthropologist Edward B. Taylor explained it in
his work Primitive Culture as Culture or civilization is a complex whole which includes knowledge,
belief, art, morals, law, customs, and other capabilities acquired by human as a member of society.
Valuing and understanding cultural diversity is very important in terms of being able to understand the
differences and histories of a society.
Culture itself is a key feature in the identity of a society as it helps people within the society to
identify how they view themselves and other ethnic groups. Every community, culture, or ethnic group
tends to have its own values and beliefs of how to live their life. Every society relies on strong ...

Many habits are very similar to practices in the United States. Germany is a small and densely
populated country. Unlike the United States, which is a huge and densely populated country.
The greatest shock to Americans is probably that there are no speed limits on the German Autobahn ,
which is the Highway. Speed limits in cities are strictly enforced, but on most of the Autobahn there is
no limit.
In Germany people usually greet others when walking into a waiting room or train compartment. A
simple Guten Tag or, in my home state Bavaria Gruess Gott , is the standard. Germans are also
diligent hand shakers. Not only do they shake hands when meeting someone for the first time, but at
every meeting thereafter. Arriving at parties and gatherings, it is not unusual to greet everybody
individually, with a handshake and then repeat the round again when you leave. But Never have a
hand in your pocket when shaking a Germans hand and always make eye contact.
Germans are quite reserved and typically won t take the initiative to meet with someone unless it s
necessary, especially if they know that you are American and their English is bad or nonexistent.
Germans expect Americans friendly, so it s a good idea for you to take the initiative and introduce
yourself. Every little bit of German you learn helps. Germans and all Europeans appreciate Americans

Pupil Population Analysis
Later, we will test our hypothesis and perform tests to check for heteroscedasticity, multicollinearity,
and serial correlation. For now, we will explain why we chose our variables. We believe each of our
independent variables play a significant role in determining the spending per pupil. Unemployment
rate affect spending because the state government will often increase education spending when
unemployment is high. Unemployment is often linked to lower education level and each state
government would most likely want to change that aspect of their community. The best way to do that
is to create jobs or increase education. This same logic goes for the independent variables percent of
poverty level, and black percentage of population. The percentage ... Show more content on

Federal aid is a variable that focuses on monetary need to begin with. So it is not surprising that it is
correlated with our model. Unemployment is a related factor because when there is high
unemployment, the economy of your state is not doing well, so there will be less resources for state
funding for schools.
After this, we see urbanization is a direct factor. This is because as more people move to cities, the
more money funding they have in that area for schools. If you have 5,000 students attending a school,
they are going to get more state funding than a school of 50. State spending per pupil on schools
overall as a model is very important because the more resources you have per student the more you
can teach them. You can get better equipment, better materials, better teachers, the list goes on and on.
After looking at which variables were important in our model, we can see that money is the main
influencer. If you want your child to have a good education, is best to live in a state that is doing very
well financially. We can see a trend here as well because people who make the most money tend to be
the ones who are most educated. As we start to have our own families and raising children we will not
be aware of which factors influence the money spent per students when choosing which school district
to live

Elements Of Democracy In Colonial America
Maya Bateau
It s is surprising that Colonial America had any democratic features. This is surprising because they
lived in a British monarchy. They lived their lives having other people (Kings, Queens, and royal
advisors) control their government actions. Some democratic feature they contained was a democratic
government and human rights. One democratic feature is system of government. In Virginia they had
the House Of Burgesses. Individual were chosen by the colonists to make laws. Eventually each
colony will have a legislator. (Document 3) This shows a democratic government by coming together
to make laws. This is different because they are from a monarchy. Associating with the House Of
Burgesses the colonist could also make Colonial

I Am More Enthusiastic About Service Learning
Volunteering has improved my life by gradually making a difference in my perspective of service
learning. Bringing vision to my eyes, the ability to assist others in need is a feeling only describable if,
and only if, you have experienced it yourself. Opening new doors in this journey of life, only can
ecological service learning provides you with the keys to getting connected with the communities.
Before, I stood as an individual who considered that I was not able to do anything on my own. I
pointed fingers and judged at those organizations that weren t quick to construct the changing society
wanted to see. I failed to realize that organizations take countless effort in having a task done in a
particular way, for a specific interval, which is the reason why service learning is a challenge. My
increase in motivation about work is impacting my daily life. I am more enthusiastic about my work
and am inspired by other leaders who take a charge in making accomplishment on a day to day basis.
Learning to communicate and work with others has enhanced my self assurance and my dedication in
volunteering is passionate. I am excited to share with others about my experience and explain why
volunteers matter so deeply to the community. Offered training for the suitable role, given clear,
specific roles, and often compensated for the volunteer work has made it easier for me to step up and
get to work with other volunteers who are reliable. All of us work as a team. The hardest part

He describes in his article that politics and economics are advanced symbioses in which free for all

ethics direct individuals to cooperate with each other for the mutual benefit of all. Also he believes

(Recognition of Prior Learning)
The term and the assessment or evaluation criteria being used varies between governing body,
institutions and countries. There is the popularity of the need to recognise informal learning so as to
make learning accessible to everyone. To justify the need for RPL, I have discussed some of its
benefits below.
Benefits of Recognition of Prior Learning
The Learner: * It validates the worth of learning achieved by themselves * Increases self esteem and
confidence * Encourages learners to pursue education * May reduce the cost of college education by
eliminating duplication of learning * Enables progression to other programme of study * Increases
learner s perception and understanding that learning is a lifelong process
The Educational Institution: * Provides a vital service for the community, business and industry *
Financial gain through increase in student recruitment and retention * Increases in efficiency by
reducing the need for unnecessary training * Enables for more appropriate learner placement in
programmes
The Workplace and the Community: * It encourages workplace partnership with the educational
institution * It helps in recognising lifelong learning and society s need for a productive and capable
workforce.

Missing Women
There is a huge number of missing women in Canada, and an extremely large number of these women
are Aboriginal. Why do Aboriginal women seem more vulnerable? The majority of these missing
Aboriginal women were living on the streets, living in poverty and working in the sex trade industry
before their disappearances. Why were all of these women in the same situation? I believe that the
Conflict Theory explains the hardships, the abuse and the discrimination that each of these women
faced before they went missing. The Conflict Theory states that society is marked by power struggles
over scarce resources; inequities result in conflict; social change is inevitable. Since the theft of

The damage done by residential schools is evident today as Aboriginal people, long deprived of
parenting skills, struggle with family responsibilities. The victimization of Aboriginal women
accelerated with the breakdown of Aboriginal cultural values and the abuse suffered by Aboriginal
children in the schools contributed to family breakdown. This began a cycle of abuse in Aboriginal
communities, with women and children being the primary victims. Aboriginal women and their
children suffer tremendously as victims in contemporary Canadian society. They are the victims of
racism, of sexism and of inconceivable levels of domestic violence as well as incomprehensible
crimes like murder. The tragedy of missing Aboriginal women runs deep into the history of Aboriginal
dispossession and discrimination; it s not just about missing Aboriginal women; its health issues,
housing issues, economic security, drug and alcohol abuse, mental health, racism, and all of those
social factors that create a situation of Aboriginal women becoming victims. Canada contributes to the

Donald Trump s Reputation In Politics
Donald Trump has said many things that many would consider unwise. One of his famous quotes was,
Likewise, tremendous infectious disease is pouring across the border. The United States has become a
dumping ground for Mexico and, in fact, for many other parts of the world. 1 That is just one example
of how Trump, though he is undeniably a fantastic business man, would make a poor president. For
though he is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, businessmen in the world, Donald John
Trump, Sr. is simply not suited for the world of politics. The reason he is not suited for that world is
because he is commonly seen as racist, lacks common sense, and is completely uneducated in politics.
The first point that is in need of being addressed, is that Mr. Trump has the reputation to be a racist
person. While there is normally some bias as to whether or not a person s comments are racist, Trump
has taken away any benefit of the doubt that he had when he made this comment:
This was evident just this week when, as an example, a young woman in San Francisco was viciously
killed by a five time deported Mexican with a long criminal record, who was forced back into the

on the behalf of himself, he is speaking on the behalf of a country. A country that has maintained very

The Legal Functions Of Legal Practice
The work environment (the legal office we operate in) is incredibly important when it comes to
productivity and the emotional health of employed legal practitioners, as it will affect their personal
productivity and their contribution to the overall success of the legal practice. Ensuring the work
environment is as healthy as it can be is the responsibility, or can benefit from the influence, of legal
practice managers.
Legal practice managers have the challenge and responsibility of developing their own emotional
intelligence and recognising it and fostering its growth in others. For instance, the emotional
intelligence of the managing partners sets the stage for the workplace atmosphere in a legal practice,
and ultimately, the outcome of the performance of the lawyers a firm.
Before delving into specific areas in which emotional intelligence can help create an overall healthy
atmosphere in the workplace, it is prudent to identify the reality of law firms and lawyers today. One
often referred to paper in this area is John Briton s Lawyers, Emotional Stress and Regulation. Mr
Briton was the Legal Services Commissioner in Queensland when he discussed the results of The
BeyondBlue and Beaton Consulting Annual Professions Survey conducted in April 2007.
According to the results of this survey, lawyers are two and a half times more likely than other
professionals to suffer from clinical depression. Mr Briton also note that in the following year, Sydney

Why Women Still Can T Have It All Summary
In life we are told to have it all by raising a perfect family, getting a beautiful house, and having a high
paying job; but is it possible to have it all? How many people can honestly have it all, when so many
are just trying to survive? In the articles, Why Women Still Can t Have It All and Why Men Still Can t
Have It All, Anne Marie Slaughter and Richard Dorment, go through how women function in the
workplace and how there are different expectant outcomes for each. The primary objective of
Slaughter s passage was to show how women are treated poorly and how they are held to a different
standard than their male counterparts. Dorment focuses mostly on how neither women nor men should

Though I am a woman, I do not deny that men have come far in helping with at home life and the
majority attempt to do as much as they can to help their wives. But I am not saying we should reward
men for doing this; it should be the assumption to help out; I am just concluding the evidence that they
do twice as much as they used to. I can agree that women have come up in academics because in many
schools the girls are usually more academically successful than the boys are. I feel as though Slaughter
complains about how men are not pulling their weight at home, is contradictory to when her husband
took care of their son and home by himself while she was working hours away. I do endorse the idea
Slaughter brought across that nobody can have it all because of the economy and society. On the
contrary, I do not believe anyone could ever truly have it all in at any time, even if the economy and
society were more developed because nothing is ever going to work correctly. I found it troubling that
Slaughter s aimed audience was limited only to the higher class working woman and she admits it
when she states, I am well aware that the majority of American women face problems far greater than
any discussed in this article. I am writing for my demographic highly educated, well off women who
are privileged enough to have choices in the first place. It seems

The Effectiveness Of The Supervision Styles
Throughout this paper, with the aid of Gibbs Model of reflection, refer to appendix one (shaaban,
2014), I will reflect on the efficacy of the supervision styles I experienced throughout my degree at my
clinical site. These styles are direct supervision and in direct supervision. I will evaluate the strengths
and weaknesses of each style and how it impacted my learning. I will take into consideration the effect
it had on my own learning and how I can use this lesson to ensure I have a positive impact on students
I supervise in the future as a new graduate MRT. Description During the first half of the degree,
students must have direct supervision from a qualified radiographer. Direct supervision is where the
supervisor oversees activities as they occur and provides constant direction, feedback, and
assistance(wiseGEEK, 2014). This is necessary in the clinical setting for junior students so the
supervisor can step in and help stabilize the situation if it gets out of control, which is very important
for health and safety reasons (wiseGEEK, 2014). Feelings The main learning point in the first year in
the clinical setting were common examinations such as chest x rays and becoming confident
communicating with patients (unitec.ac.nz, 2014). Initially I felt intimidated and anxious in this
environment because I had someone that I had just met, watching and listening to everything I said
and did. This is fairly common and is referred to as supervision induced anxiety

1970s Nuclear Family
The new family of the 1970s grew up as children with no father figure, did not remember wartime
hardships and saw family life depicted through American movies. Civil law changed the system to
nuclear family through the exposure of Western influence that was seen as the ideal for the Japanese
family. The concept of nuclear family has influenced the increase in singles, martial couples and
single parent units which by Nonoyama (2000) sees this as a disorganization of the framework of
nuclear structure. Imamura (1990) discusses that love marriages were encouraged with the influence
of the western culture, where young people saw to reconsider the ways of courtship before marriage,
which decreased numbers of traditional arranged marriages. This

Diagnostic Coding And Procedural Coding
Medical Coding Essay Academic Essay Diagnostic coding and procedural coding lend themselves
well to the improvement of healthcare efficiency. Both have accurate recording for diagnoses and the
procedures enable the analysis of information for the patient s care, research, performance
improvement, healthcare planning and facility management. The diagnosis codes are divided into
chapters, sections, subsections, and subcategories (1). A coder should become familiar with all of the
codes before the individual moves on. It is very important to understand when an additional code or
codes are needed, what codes are secondary, and when additional information may be needed to
complete the code (1). Also, the coder should always code the reason why the patient sought medical
advice as the main diagnosis (1). There are many rules when using diagnostic and procedural codes.
By using the national diagnostic and procedural coding system correctly the coder will have no trouble
on finding the right codes to use for the case scenarios.
The information the coder needs to get from the health records is very important because this will
provide the correct information on the claim when it is billed out. If the steps are not followed
correctly then the information being submitted will not be correct. Here are the steps that need to be
taken to find the proper sequencing when diagnosing and coding are the coder needs to find the main

An Analysis OfOn Bullshit, By Max Black
Violeta Mattei
Dr. Regan Lance Reitsma
CORE 286
10/16/17
On Bullshit
In On Bullshit, Harry G. Frankfurt, a professor at Princeton University discusses the concept of
bullshit from his standpoint. He begins his essay by stating, One of the most salient features of our
culture is that there is so much bullshit (117). Since Frankfurt doubts that most people are rather
confident of their ability to recognize bullshit and to avoid being taken in by it (117), he provides a
theoretical understanding of bullshit. The big question being asked throughout this argument is when,
if ever, is bullshitting seriously morally wrong and why? And what exactly is so important about
caring about, respecting, and telling the truth? Aspects of bullshit are discussed with reference to the
Oxford English Dictionary, Wittgenstein, and Saint Augustine. There are three points made throughout
the essay that seem to be crucially important the difference between lying and bullshitting, the
question of why there is so much bullshit in society today, and an analysis of sincerity.
Frankfurt begins his search for the meaning of bullshit by comparing it to the word humbug, and
referencing the work The Prevalence of Humbug by Max Black. Black gives the definition of
humbug: deceptive misrepresentation, short of lying, especially by pretentious word or deed, of
somebody s own thoughts, feelings, or attitudes. (118). By examining the definition of a related term,
Frankfurt begins his argument

Women In Euripides Greek Tragedy, Hippolytus
In Euripides Greek Tragedy, Hippolytus, he tells the familiar myth of a young man whose stepmother
falls in love with him. The female characters of Euripides are often nuanced with dualistic
characterizations. While Euripides may present Phaedra as noble for fighting her lustful urges, he
ultimately exposes her to the same petty nature as the very goddesses who inflict these desires on her.
All of the women in Hippolytus are viewed Eve like figures who lead men astray, despite their
intentions.
Greek mythology would have been widely known by Euripides audience and Phaedra s lineage is no
exception. Her mother, Paciphae, had slept with a bull and bore the Minotaur. The same Minotaur
Theseus would slay in the labyrinth. Her mother s monstrous sexual appetite taints Phaedra s family.
Phaedra s sister is also unlucky in romantic affairs as she is married to Dionysius. In other versions of
the Phaedra story, such as the Seneca play Phaedra; this ancestry is the key reason for her unnatural
attraction to her stepson. Nevertheless, even though Phaedra s desire is derived from Aphrodite and
she never acts upon it, her characterization is less favorable than the womanizer Theseus. Christian
theology often talks of the original sin in the Garden of Eden. While both Adam and Eve eat of the
fruit, it is Eve who offers the temptation to Adam. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, she is prepared to let herself die from starvation to save her reputation. This sacrifice and her
resilience make her much more sympathetic than a character like Potiphar s wife in the book of
Genesis. Phaedra s desire to be more is somewhat akin to Hippolytus fervency towards chastity.
However Phaedra is fighting her very being not to act on her desires, to the point that it is killing her.
Hippolytus sticks to his morals with such ease, highlighting Phaedra s desperate struggle despite her

Interpreting Dinosaur Habitats
1) How are sedimentary rocks used to interpret past dinosaur habitats? How is the geologic principle
of uniformitarianism used for this type of interpretation?
Sedimentary rocks interpret dinosaur habitats through encased environmental structures of the past.
Through sedimentary rocks, paleoecologists can examine the arranged formation of sedimentary
structures to specify what type of environment the dinosaurs lived in. An example of a specific
sedimentary rock structure can be seen through formed weathering and ripple marks by how wind and
sand formed distinct patterns in the past layered sediment. These arrangements provide interpretations
on the structure of the sediment and the habitat of encased fossils, through modern day comparisons ...

Roman myth and mythology were merely the continuation of Greek myths and legends, with some

occurrence as many Greek heroes have a god as a parent one such well know example is Hercules

A: This isotope would not be very useful for dating bones that are over a million years old. This is
because carbon is in the living plants and animals since they consume nutrients with it and the air they
breathe contains it. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oxidation reduction (redox)
The process of losing electrons is called oxidation and the process of gaining electrons is called
reduction. When transferring electrons between two substances, one always reduces and another one
oxides known as a redox reaction.
An example of this is H_2+F_2→2HF Neutralization reactions
Neutralization reactions involve the reaction of a base and an acid to produce a salt and water.
An example of this is HBr+KOH→Kbr+H_2 O acid+base→salt+water
For the following chemical reaction:
C_6 H_12 O_6+6O_2→6CO_2+6H_2 O+energy
Identify
The substance(s) being oxidized.
A: Glucose is oxidized, as we can see there is no longer any H attached to the carbon and oxygen. It
loses electrons therefore is being oxidized. The substance that is reduced.
A: Oxygen is being reduced because it gained water and energy will be created in the process.

Winnima Way
Three boats with mosaic patterns across the top have replaced the big prawn, as well as a nearby mural
that shows the significance of fishing around nearby Lake Illawarra. It s called the Berkeley
Placemaking Project and local school students have worked alongside local artists to create everything
you see there. Just two months after the big prawn of Berkeley was demolished and removed, the area
has been given a new lease on life. I d encourage everyone to come and have a look at these beautiful
boats they re a great example of community focused public art that reflect our area s cultural diversity
and sense of place, Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery says. A lot s been heaped on Berkeley
and the southern suburbs of Wollongong, but to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m a mad jogger and I like jogging around the lake [Lake Illawarra] it s beautiful and clean now. The
lake s a magnificent asset and people don t appreciate it, but I have the benefit of looking at it every
morning from up the top of the hill where I live and the vista is just magnificent it s a great place to
live. Goodbye to the prawn The big prawn that originally stood in Winnima Way has been dismantled
and removed. Its head has been preserved, but Cr Bradbery says the structure had to go because it was
no longer safe. The prawn had come to its use by date it was a play sculpture and when it was built it
was OK, but standards have changed since then in terms of risk management. I appreciate the artistic
merit of the prawn, but it s over and done with and we ve replaced it with these boats you can sit on
which are covered with beautiful mosaics and interpretive stories as well. He says he was surprised by
the community backlash when the prawn was removed. We re often criticised for not revitalising
things and when we do it, boy we ve obviously touched a raw nerve, or prawn. I m conscious of those
who put in the effort but we did have to move

A Place To Speak
Melinda is a young girl with many difficult things happening at this stage in her life. She needs a place
of peace for her to relax in and let all her feelings float away while listening to her favorite music.
Somewhere that will get the creative juices flowing with her own little twist in every corner. A place
where the stuffed animals come alive, and the sculptures look for items to improve their own
appearance. A judgement free zone to let everything free such as thoughts, feelings, emotions, and
creativity. A place where everyone can speak their mind and trust nothing bad will come out of
speaking up. One room split into 4 different sections for each emotion she has most often.
One section which has greyish purple walls for the sad rainy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Two shelves of old stuffed animals sitting and watching from above the windows. A closet full of the
clothes that make her blend into the crowd like a ghost. The clothes that made her known as that girl
who busted the party. A trip to the past every second, she sits in her bed drifting back into the past
each night just to remind her that a new beginning is here, and nothing else will take her down. This
room was her for the hardest parts of her life. The place where everything was fought from the
aftermath of the rape, to the pain of losing her friends, and the feeling that no one was ever going to
understand. The same pillow used to cover her head on nights with overbearing yelling from her
parents, or thoughts pounding her head. This was a room of remembrance of everything she made it
through, and the courage she built up during it. In the middle of it all, a place of decisions. One room
with white walls and plain wood floors. A place for her to clear her mind, and decide the destiny she
wants to enter into that day. A view into each room making each day a clean slate. The rooms around
her are like her own little community. Every room with something intriguing and original to her own.
She spins in circles everyday trying to discover who she really wants to be. Her room is just a
reflection of her strength, beauty, and newly discovered

Property Law Servitudes
Dear Madam,
Praedial servitude limited real right
The servitude pertinent to this matter is a praedial servitude, relating to two pieces of land, adjacent to
each other. A paedial servitude is established over the servient property (The Trust) for the benefit of
the dominant property (UCT) in perpetuity. A right of way typically confers a real right to benefit from
the property of another. It affords powers of use and enjoyment to someone other than the owner.
Section 63(1) of the Deeds Registry Act tells us that limited real rights are capable of registration. This
particular right of way, in favour of UCT, is therefore enforceable against the Trust as it appears to
satisfy the requirements for a valid praedial servitude and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The relationship between the dominant and servient owners is governed by the principle of
reasonableness. Where there is a conflict of interests, the interests of the dominant owner will have
precedence over those of the servient owner, subject to the principle of reasonableness. The Holder of
the servitude must exercise the servitude civiliter modo, that is, in a civilized and considerate way.
This does not mean that the dominant owner is restricted in exercising the servitudal rights merely
because to do so would detrimentally affect the servient owner. It follows however that the holder of
the servitude may not increase the burden on the servient property beyond the express or implied
terms of the servitude.
One must therefore examine the rights and obligations that arise from the servitude, as governed by
the aforementioned principle of reasonableness, paying attention to the factors responsible for the
footpath s state of disrepair. In the light of this second contributory factor, should the Trust approach a
court for a declaration of rights, arguing that UCT has failed abide by the principle of civiliter modo,
such a court has the power to enforce specific duties by way of an interdict.
ii. Restoration and extinction
Pradial servitudes are indivisible, which means that they

Trauma is defined as:
a. an injury (as a wound) to living tissue caused by an extrinsic agent;
b. a disordered psychic or behavioral state resulting from severe mental or emotional stress or physical
injury;
c. an emotional upset.
Trauma comes from the Greek  meaning wound, and meaning damage,
harm, or impairment. Trauma affects every body. The traumatized person will experience dissociation,
disbelief, isolation, and hopelessness. They will often wonder Where is God and why has he left me?
I am going to concentrate on definitions b and c above because although the trauma patient is at the
hospital because of a , there is nothing we as chaplains can do about that. That part of the trauma is the
concern of the medical staff.
Let us first look at who are victims are. As I see it, there are four victims to every trauma the
patient(s), the family, the staff, and you. It seems that in our hurry to treat the patient we often move
the others to a secondary or tertiary role (the staff and you). This is not necessarily the case. If you don
t take care of you, then the others will not be able to benefit from your ministry.
This is where CPE comes in. A trauma chaplain without multiple units of CPE cannot possibly be
prepared to handle the day to day activities of an emergency room let alone a trauma center. CPE
teaches us to know ourselves and by that, to be transparent so that we may put aside our prejudices
and biases and properly concentrate on the

Description Of Borderline Personality Disorder
Rationale for diagnosis: I arrived at the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder for several
different reasons. According to the American Psychiatric Association (2013), Borderline Personality
Disorder is defined as A pervasive pattern of instability of interpersonal relationships, self image, and
affects, and marked impulsivity, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts.
One of the defining characteristics within this definition for Borderline Personality Disorder is Frantic
efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment . Robin s case states that she would often verbally
downgrade her companions and then a short time later she would end up worrying that she may have
estranged them. Robin would then do something kind for her companions to keep them close and
remain devoted to her. Robin meets this defining characteristic because, as stated, she becomes frantic
when she feels that someone is going to abandon her and puts forth an effort to do something kind for
them to avoid this abandonment. Another defining characteristic of Borderline Personality Disorder is
A pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between
extremes of idealization and devaluation . (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Robin s personal
relationships with others were said to be quite abnormal; she would rapidly and with no reason shift
from one mood to another. This seems to describe a pattern between Robin valuing her friends at
times, yet also belittling them at other times in an extreme and alternating manner. Another
characteristic that Robin possesses that is used in describing Borderline Personality Disorder is
Impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self damaging . (American Psychiatric
Association, 2013). The two areas that Robin portrays acts of self damaging are through substance
abuse (in Robin s case, alcohol) and binge eating due to her having Bulimia Nervosa. On a side note,
eating disorders, particularly bulimia, are common in people with Borderline Personality Disorder;
almost 25% of bulimics have the disorder. (Zanarini, Reichman, Frankenburg, Reich, Fitzmaurice,
2010), and, up to 67% of the people with this disorder are

Questions On Wood Dining Commons Essay
Wood Dining Commons February 9th, 2016, 11:45 A.M. I m sitting at the first long table to the right
of the Wood Dining Commons at Muhlenberg. I Just finished my lucky charms and the empty bowl
has a few mushy left over cereal charms left. As the lunch rush starts to begin my soundings start to
become loader. I see many familiar faces as they walk in and out of dining hall. Being part of such a
small school has its advantages and disadvantages. You see people you know all the time even if you
do your best to try to avoid them. Trust me I have tried many times avoiding people but seem to
always run into them at the dining hall. As I look around at different groups I can tune into different
conversations people are having. It was easier to tune into the conversations while the dining hall have
as many people. To the right of me there is a group of five girls. They are speaking about how large
the Bananas are today, it s literally the length of my head. To the back of me there is a group of
Lacrosse boys sitting at the first round table talking about their six o clock morning practice and how
dreadful it is. To the left of me at the next long table looks like one of the head chefs and maybe the
boss of the dining hall. I have seen them both before sitting exactly there. I can t really hear what they
are speaking about. Maybe how things should be different, or maybe what is going to be on next
months meal plan. But of course my imaginary takes place of what they are probably

Essay on Psychodnamic Theory
Ian Curtis was 23 years old when he hung himself in his home in Macclesfield, England. The events
that led to the singers death should have been warning signs of his plans, but his personality kept him
from receiving the help he desperately needed. Born on July 15th, 1956 in Manchester, England Ian
had a considerably normal childhood to follow. He had one little sister and his working class family
were very tightnit with other family members as well as each other. (Curtis 1995)Ian was a cheerful
child who loved to read and socialize with the neighborhood boys. During his teenage years he
became melancholy and wrote poetry that directly resembled his mood. He spoke of human suffering
and hopelessness. He also began abusing drugs and had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first his wife thought it was a strange coincidence, but quickly dismissed it as that once the severity
of the illness took hold. (Curtis 1995) Ian was put on several anti seizure medications and his mood
worsened after this and his work in Joy Division was greatly impaired. He began an affair with a
Belgian journalist Annik Honore and the stress of carrying on both relationships caused his depression
to spiral and he made his first suicide attempt with notes concerning his two relationships. He took too
many of his seizure medications and was released with no talk of aftercare or psychological treatment
of any kind. Eleven months later he succeeded and it was his wife who noticed the signs and begged
him to get help. Ian s friends with whom he stayed his last weeks with stated that Ian would not leave
bed all day and would engage in violent arguments with them.. He left there to try and save his
marriage and following another violent outburst towards his wife he hung himself after she left him
alone in their Maccelsfield home. Biologically, theorists would want to look at Ian Curtis family
history with depression and whether or not his disorder came from a genetic predisposition or possibly
a result of his seizure disorder. Biological theorists view abnormal behavior as an illness brought
about by malfunctioning parts of the organism. (Comer 2011) Scientifically this theory could explain
several physiological reasons why Ian behaved the way he did, as

An Analysis Of Washington s Atlanta Exposition Address
Washington was born into slavery in 1856, despite this he received an education at the Hampton
Institute, a school designed to educate African Americans and Native Americas. In 1881, Washington
built and became the headmaster at a school, the Tuskegee Institute, which was virtually all black in
population. From this Washington lived a comfortable life and was able to give a number of addresses
regarding issues of black rights. Washington s famous speech, the Atlanta Exposition address, was
given in 1895.The address was a speech designed to seek compromise between the races, through
asking for greater treatment from white Southerners, in return for positive economic cooperation
through educating black people in the industrial spheres. Washington

  • 5. Tattoo Influence On American Culture The electric tattoo machine, invented by Samuel O Reilly, revolutionized the tattoo industry. Previously a niche activity only practiced by native groups and upper class Westerners, tattooing became a widespread American practice. Margo DeMello, a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology, declares, Tattooing...is as American as baseball, Mom, and apple pie . Tattooing did not originate in America, but styles and technology originating in America have significantly shaped the modern, global tattoo scene. O Reilly s tattoo machine brought tattooing to the main stage of the American consciousness by making tattoos available to the masses. His machine made tattooing faster and less expensive. The innovation specifically allowed lower classes to get tattooed and this caused the cultural perspective of tattoos to shift. Due to the huge investment of time and money that getting tattooed previously required, it was considered a mark of wealth. This association was quickly shed once the lower class ... In his reports back to Britain, he illustrated the tattoos he encountered along with the other cultural practices he witnessed (See Appendix A). Cook also brought the Tahitian word tatu or tatau to the West (prior to this introduction tattoos were known as pricks or marks in Europe) . Through three voyages through the Pacific, many crewmembers received tattoos as souvenirs. Cook s 1774 trip to the South Seas brought Mai , a tattooed Tahitian, to Britain (See Appendix A). Mai served as a guide and interpreter to Cook and his crew, but upon return to England he was set on display in museums and fairs. Europe s first exposure to tattoos framed the practice as exotic. Tattoos were seen as something that strange people in very distant lands did to their bodies. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. King Arthur Themes The film King Arthur differs in a great propensity with the traditional Arthurian tale. The elements which represent the medieval society and which forms the key aspect of the traditional tale, have not been included. The Holy Grail, a vital motif that is persistent in the traditional tale of King Arthur is dropped from the cinematic representation of the tale. The film differs from the tale on multitudinous accounts, for instance there is an absence of the love affair between Lancelot and Guinevere in the movie. Moreover, the film chooses to not include Camelot, Avalon and Mordred. Important characters like Mordred, the archetypical villain in the traditional tale of King Arthur is not ascribed to any significance in the film. The character of Guinevere is indispensable in the Arthurian legend as well as in the movie. However, the very characteristic of Guinevere is represented in a dynamically polar opposite fashion in both the traditional tale of King Arthur and the movie. Contrary to the ancient tale, Guinevere is no damsel in distress in the movie. The representation of Guinevere in the movie as a warrior queen who partakes in the war along with King Arthur is emblematic as it does not depict the character of a woman in the light of the gender typicality. It is an important alteration that the movie chooses to make from the traditional tale. There is no place accorded to the whimsical characters, situations or the places that over popularizes the idea of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Taylor explained it in his work Primitive Culture as Culture or civilization is a complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, customs, and other capabilities acquired by human as a member of society. Valuing and understanding cultural diversity is very important in terms of being able to understand the differences and histories of a society. Many habits are very similar to practices in the United States. Germany is a small and densely populated country. Unlike the United States, which is a huge and densely populated country. The greatest shock to Americans is probably that there are no speed limits on the German Autobahn , which is the Highway. Speed limits in cities are strictly enforced, but on most of the Autobahn there is no limit. In Germany people usually greet others when walking into a waiting room or train compartment. A simple Guten Tag or, in my home state Bavaria Gruess Gott , is the standard. Germans are also diligent hand shakers. Not only do they shake hands when meeting someone for the first time, but at every meeting thereafter. Arriving at parties and gatherings, it is not unusual to greet everybody individually, with a handshake and then repeat the round again when you leave. But Never have a hand in your pocket when shaking a Germans hand and always make eye contact. • 8. Pupil Population Analysis Later, we will test our hypothesis and perform tests to check for heteroscedasticity, multicollinearity, and serial correlation. For now, we will explain why we chose our variables. We believe each of our independent variables play a significant role in determining the spending per pupil. Unemployment rate affect spending because the state government will often increase education spending when unemployment is high. Unemployment is often linked to lower education level and each state government would most likely want to change that aspect of their community. The best way to do that is to create jobs or increase education. This same logic goes for the independent variables percent of poverty level, and black percentage of population. The percentage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Federal aid is a variable that focuses on monetary need to begin with. So it is not surprising that it is correlated with our model. Unemployment is a related factor because when there is high unemployment, the economy of your state is not doing well, so there will be less resources for state funding for schools. After this, we see urbanization is a direct factor. This is because as more people move to cities, the more money funding they have in that area for schools. If you have 5,000 students attending a school, they are going to get more state funding than a school of 50. State spending per pupil on schools overall as a model is very important because the more resources you have per student the more you can teach them. You can get better equipment, better materials, better teachers, the list goes on and on. After looking at which variables were important in our model, we can see that money is the main influencer. If you want your child to have a good education, is best to live in a state that is doing very well financially. We can see a trend here as well because people who make the most money tend to be the ones who are most educated. As we start to have our own families and raising children we will not be aware of which factors influence the money spent per students when choosing which school district to live ... The majority of these missing Aboriginal women were living on the streets, living in poverty and working in the sex trade industry before their disappearances. Why were all of these women in the same situation? I believe that the Conflict Theory explains the hardships, the abuse and the discrimination that each of these women faced before they went missing. One of his famous quotes was, Likewise, tremendous infectious disease is pouring across the border. The United States has become a dumping ground for Mexico and, in fact, for many other parts of the world. 1 That is just one example of how Trump, though he is undeniably a fantastic business man, would make a poor president. For though he is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, businessmen in the world, Donald John Trump, Sr. is simply not suited for the world of politics. The reason he is not suited for that world is because he is commonly seen as racist, lacks common sense, and is completely uneducated in politics. The first point that is in need of being addressed, is that Mr. Trump has the reputation to be a racist person. While there is normally some bias as to whether or not a person s comments are racist, Trump has taken away any benefit of the doubt that he had when he made this comment: This was evident just this week when, as an example, a young woman in San Francisco was viciously killed by a five time deported Mexican with a long criminal record, who was forced back into the United States because they didn t want him in Mexico. The Legal Functions Of Legal Practice The work environment (the legal office we operate in) is incredibly important when it comes to productivity and the emotional health of employed legal practitioners, as it will affect their personal productivity and their contribution to the overall success of the legal practice. Ensuring the work environment is as healthy as it can be is the responsibility, or can benefit from the influence, of legal practice managers. Legal practice managers have the challenge and responsibility of developing their own emotional intelligence and recognising it and fostering its growth in others. For instance, the emotional intelligence of the managing partners sets the stage for the workplace atmosphere in a legal practice, and ultimately, the outcome of the performance of the lawyers a firm. Before delving into specific areas in which emotional intelligence can help create an overall healthy atmosphere in the workplace, it is prudent to identify the reality of law firms and lawyers today. One often referred to paper in this area is John Briton s Lawyers, Emotional Stress and Regulation. Mr Briton was the Legal Services Commissioner in Queensland when he discussed the results of The BeyondBlue and Beaton Consulting Annual Professions Survey conducted in April 2007. Nuclear Power Plants and Safety Nuclear Power Plants and Safety Since the humans use energy sources such as wood, coal, and oil to produce electricity, people want to use better energy sources to produce electricity more. By the mid twentieth century, scientists found the method of making incredible energy by using uranium as nuclear fission. Today there are about 400 nuclear power plants around the world and more than 100 nuclear power plants in United States (Howstuffworks). In addition, nuclear reactors produced a lot of energy and they affected quality life styles by using nuclear energy (Howstuffworks). Why Women Still Can T Have It All Summary In life we are told to have it all by raising a perfect family, getting a beautiful house, and having a high paying job; but is it possible to have it all? How many people can honestly have it all, when so many are just trying to survive? In the articles, Why Women Still Can t Have It All and Why Men Still Can t Have It All, Anne Marie Slaughter and Richard Dorment, go through how women function in the workplace and how there are different expectant outcomes for each. The primary objective of Slaughter s passage was to show how women are treated poorly and how they are held to a different standard than their male counterparts. Though I am a woman, I do not deny that men have come far in helping with at home life and the majority attempt to do as much as they can to help their wives. But I am not saying we should reward men for doing this; it should be the assumption to help out; I am just concluding the evidence that they do twice as much as they used to. I can agree that women have come up in academics because in many schools the girls are usually more academically successful than the boys are. I feel as though Slaughter complains about how men are not pulling their weight at home, is contradictory to when her husband took care of their son and home by himself while she was working hours away. I do endorse the idea Slaughter brought across that nobody can have it all because of the economy and society. On the contrary, I do not believe anyone could ever truly have it all in at any time, even if the economy and society were more developed because nothing is ever going to work correctly. I found it troubling that Slaughter s aimed audience was limited only to the higher class working woman and she admits it when she states, I am well aware that the majority of American women face problems far greater than any discussed in this article. I will take into consideration the effect it had on my own learning and how I can use this lesson to ensure I have a positive impact on students I supervise in the future as a new graduate MRT. Description During the first half of the degree, students must have direct supervision from a qualified radiographer. Direct supervision is where the supervisor oversees activities as they occur and provides constant direction, feedback, and assistance(wiseGEEK, 2014). This is necessary in the clinical setting for junior students so the supervisor can step in and help stabilize the situation if it gets out of control, which is very important for health and safety reasons (wiseGEEK, 2014). Feelings The main learning point in the first year in the clinical setting were common examinations such as chest x rays and becoming confident communicating with patients (unitec.ac.nz, 2014). Frankfurt, a professor at Princeton University discusses the concept of bullshit from his standpoint. He begins his essay by stating, One of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit (117). Since Frankfurt doubts that most people are rather confident of their ability to recognize bullshit and to avoid being taken in by it (117), he provides a theoretical understanding of bullshit. The big question being asked throughout this argument is when, if ever, is bullshitting seriously morally wrong and why? And what exactly is so important about caring about, respecting, and telling the truth? Aspects of bullshit are discussed with reference to the Oxford English Dictionary, Wittgenstein, and Saint Augustine. There are three points made throughout the essay that seem to be crucially important the difference between lying and bullshitting, the question of why there is so much bullshit in society today, and an analysis of sincerity. Frankfurt begins his search for the meaning of bullshit by comparing it to the word humbug, and referencing the work The Prevalence of Humbug by Max Black. Black gives the definition of humbug: deceptive misrepresentation, short of lying, especially by pretentious word or deed, of somebody s own thoughts, feelings, or attitudes. (118). All of the women in Hippolytus are viewed Eve like figures who lead men astray, despite their intentions. • 42. Radioisotope How many electrons does Mg^(2+) have? A: Magnesium (Mg) has 12 electrons. The atomic number is 12, meaning it has 12 protons. The number of protons is equal to the number of electrons, therefore there are 12 electrons. This ion however has a +2 charge, meaning that it has lost two of its original electrons. This means that Mg^(2+) has 10 electrons. Given that the half life of the radioisotope carbon 14 is 5730 years, how useful do you think this isotope would be for dating bones that are over a million years old? A: This isotope would not be very useful for dating bones that are over a million years old. This is because carbon is in the living plants and animals since they consume nutrients with it and the air they breathe contains it. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 45. Property Law Servitudes Dear Madam, Praedial servitude limited real right The servitude pertinent to this matter is a praedial servitude, relating to two pieces of land, adjacent to each other. A paedial servitude is established over the servient property (The Trust) for the benefit of the dominant property (UCT) in perpetuity. A right of way typically confers a real right to benefit from the property of another. It affords powers of use and enjoyment to someone other than the owner. Section 63(1) of the Deeds Registry Act tells us that limited real rights are capable of registration. This particular right of way, in favour of UCT, is therefore enforceable against the Trust as it appears to satisfy the requirements for a valid praedial servitude and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The relationship between the dominant and servient owners is governed by the principle of reasonableness. Where there is a conflict of interests, the interests of the dominant owner will have precedence over those of the servient owner, subject to the principle of reasonableness. The Holder of the servitude must exercise the servitude civiliter modo, that is, in a civilized and considerate way. This does not mean that the dominant owner is restricted in exercising the servitudal rights merely because to do so would detrimentally affect the servient owner. It follows however that the holder of the servitude may not increase the burden on the servient property beyond the express or implied terms of the servitude. One must therefore examine the rights and obligations that arise from the servitude, as governed by the aforementioned principle of reasonableness, paying attention to the factors responsible for the footpath s state of disrepair. In the light of this second contributory factor, should the Trust approach a court for a declaration of rights, arguing that UCT has failed abide by the principle of civiliter modo, such a court has the power to enforce specific duties by way of an interdict. ii. • 46. Clinical Pastoral Education Trauma is defined as: a. an injury (as a wound) to living tissue caused by an extrinsic agent; b. a disordered psychic or behavioral state resulting from severe mental or emotional stress or physical injury; c. an emotional upset. Trauma comes from the Greek  meaning wound, and meaning damage, harm, or impairment. Trauma affects every body. The traumatized person will experience dissociation, disbelief, isolation, and hopelessness. They will often wonder Where is God and why has he left me? I am going to concentrate on definitions b and c above because although the trauma patient is at the hospital because of a , there is nothing we as chaplains can do about that. That part of the trauma is the concern of the medical staff. Let us first look at who are victims are. As I see it, there are four victims to every trauma the patient(s), the family, the staff, and you. It seems that in our hurry to treat the patient we often move the others to a secondary or tertiary role (the staff and you). This is not necessarily the case. If you don t take care of you, then the others will not be able to benefit from your ministry. This is where CPE comes in. A trauma chaplain without multiple units of CPE cannot possibly be prepared to handle the day to day activities of an emergency room let alone a trauma center. CPE teaches us to know ourselves and by that, to be transparent so that we may put aside our prejudices and biases and properly concentrate on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Description Of Borderline Personality Disorder Rationale for diagnosis: I arrived at the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder for several different reasons. According to the American Psychiatric Association (2013), Borderline Personality Disorder is defined as A pervasive pattern of instability of interpersonal relationships, self image, and affects, and marked impulsivity, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts. One of the defining characteristics within this definition for Borderline Personality Disorder is Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment . Robin s case states that she would often verbally downgrade her companions and then a short time later she would end up worrying that she may have estranged them. Robin would then do something kind for her companions to keep them close and remain devoted to her. Robin meets this defining characteristic because, as stated, she becomes frantic when she feels that someone is going to abandon her and puts forth an effort to do something kind for them to avoid this abandonment. Another defining characteristic of Borderline Personality Disorder is A pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation . (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Robin s personal relationships with others were said to be quite abnormal; she would rapidly and with no reason shift from one mood to another. This seems to describe a pattern between Robin valuing her friends at times, yet also belittling them at other times in an extreme and alternating manner. Another characteristic that Robin possesses that is used in describing Borderline Personality Disorder is Impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self damaging . (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). The two areas that Robin portrays acts of self damaging are through substance abuse (in Robin s case, alcohol) and binge eating due to her having Bulimia Nervosa. On a side note, eating disorders, particularly bulimia, are common in people with Borderline Personality Disorder; almost 25% of bulimics have the disorder. (Zanarini, Reichman, Frankenburg, Reich, Fitzmaurice, 2010), and, up to 67% of the people with this disorder are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The events that led to the singers death should have been warning signs of his plans, but his personality kept him from receiving the help he desperately needed. Born on July 15th, 1956 in Manchester, England Ian had a considerably normal childhood to follow. He had one little sister and his working class family were very tightnit with other family members as well as each other. At first his wife thought it was a strange coincidence, but quickly dismissed it as that once the severity of the illness took hold. (Curtis 1995) Ian was put on several anti seizure medications and his mood worsened after this and his work in Joy Division was greatly impaired. He began an affair with a Belgian journalist Annik Honore and the stress of carrying on both relationships caused his depression to spiral and he made his first suicide attempt with notes concerning his two relationships. He took too many of his seizure medications and was released with no talk of aftercare or psychological treatment of any kind. Eleven months later he succeeded and it was his wife who noticed the signs and begged him to get help. Ian s friends with whom he stayed his last weeks with stated that Ian would not leave bed all day and would engage in violent arguments with them.. He left there to try and save his marriage and following another violent outburst towards his wife he hung himself after she left him alone in their Maccelsfield home. Biologically, theorists would want to look at Ian Curtis family history with depression and whether or not his disorder came from a genetic predisposition or possibly a result of his seizure disorder. Biological theorists view abnormal behavior as an illness brought about by malfunctioning parts of the organism. (Comer 2011) Scientifically this theory could explain several physiological reasons why Ian behaved the way he did, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
