Essay Global Warming Effects
Writing an essay on the effects of global warming is undoubtedly a challenging task that requires
a thorough understanding of the topic and a commitment to research and analysis. The
complexity of the subject stems from the interdisciplinary nature of climate change, involving
aspects of science, economics, politics, and social dynamics.
To begin with, delving into the scientific aspects demands a grasp of climatology, atmospheric
science, and environmental studies. This involves interpreting complex data sets, understanding
climate models, and staying abreast of the latest research findings. Addressing the economic
impacts necessitates an exploration of the intricate relationships between climate change and
various industries, assessing the costs and benefits of mitigation and adaptation strategies.
Moreover, the political dimensions of global warming cannot be overlooked. Analyzing
international agreements, government policies, and the role of different stakeholders adds another
layer of complexity. Understanding the socio-cultural impacts involves exploring how
communities around the world are affected and how they respond to the changing climate.
The process of crafting an essay on such a multifaceted topic requires meticulous planning,
organization, and synthesis of diverse information. Proper citation of sources, adherence to
academic writing standards, and maintaining a coherent and logical flow of ideas are crucial.
Additionally, expressing complex scientific concepts in a clear and accessible manner for a
broader audience adds another layer of difficulty.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the effects of global warming demands a comprehensive
understanding of various disciplines, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.
However, despite the challenges, it is a vital exercise in raising awareness and promoting
informed discussions on one of the most pressing issues of our time.

State Fair Narrative
I believe that there are events that are meant to happen for us in our lives. But, only
if we are willing to put in the work to get the opportunity to put ourselves in the right
places at the right time. There are not too many things in life that are worth
accomplishing that are not also worth putting in the time and effort it takes to
achieve. That morning it was a chill, cool morning at the MinnesotaState Fair. 4:45
a.m.: It was an earlier start to the morning since as a county we had sixteen heifers
and cows to have washed, let dry and fitted before the show started at about 8:30
with the cow classes. This was only my second year being old enough to be down at
the state fair, so I was put on the crew that had to wash the morning of the show. As I

trying to make feel embarrassed. After that first look at them I then channel them
out and I m in full time show mode. There is nothing that could stop me now,
everything is out of my mind now it s just me and my cow. In the class we circle a
couple of time and then he pulls us into the first line up. As I watched the judge
raise his hand to point me in the first spot of the first line sent a chill down my
back. But I knew I wasn t done with my work yet, there were still things that I had
to do to make my cow look its best in the line up. There have been many times
when a judge has first had a different cow in first place in the first line up than the
final one. So I wasn t taking any chances this time, I worked so hard to get my cow
setup best and had her looking as good as she could. Then as he gave the hand
motion to half circle into the final line a huge feeling of relief was put over me and
I knew I had just won my class down at the state
Essay on Electoral College
According to critics, the Electoral College is a faulty system that should be
abolished and replaced by direct election. Supporters of the Electoral College
system make convincing arguments that it is the best system to decide the
Presidential election in a complex society such as the United States. Many scholars
place the Electoral College into a historical context by discussing its evolution and
sustenance throughout the history of the United States. This paper will discuss the
main arguments made by supporters of the Electoral College System. I will first
provide a description of the Electoral College and offer justifications as to why it
was conceived by the Founding Fathers. Next, I will present major arguments from
the critics of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, a compromise was made by the delegates to have electors chosen by the
various state legislatures elect the President. This is the decision that made The
Constitution. Critics of the Electoral College often make three main arguments. The
first argument states that the Electoral College does not accurately represent the will
of the people. The Electoral College s failure to capture the will of the people derives
from the winner take all system where the Presidential candidates compete to win the
most popular votes and whoever wins in that state, wins all the electoral votes of that
state. With this, it becomes difficult if not impossible for third party or independent
parties to make a showing in the Electoral College. Subsequently, the argument states
that the Electoral College supports a two party system and discourages third party
and independent candidates, which in turn restricts the choices available to the
electorate. The second argument is the possible role of the Electoral College in
depressing the voter turnout. Since each State is entitled to the same number of
electoral votes regardless of its voter turnout, there is no incentive in the States to
encourage voter participation and, finally the third argument is based on the alleged
unfairness in the process by which the votes are distributed among the
Cheaper College Education
A topic that is hotly debated all over the world, asks Should college education be
cheaper? Although some people believe that college education shouldn t be cheaper
because Students may not learn to become as financially literate. I believe that
college should be cheaper for many reasons; such as, more people will want to go to
college, more people will have a higher education, (which solves more problems) and
best of all, it saves money.
I believe that more people would want to go to college if it were cheaper. A lot of
students can not attend college due to the fact that their parents can t afford to help
them out or they don t have a high paying job yet. Having cheaper college tuition will

In some ways lowering the cost of college education doesn t help, for example
(2017, http://www.trade schools.net/ articles /should college be free.asp Students
might take their college education less seriously if they don t have to pay for it.
So graduation numbers might drop, or the people who do graduate might not be
as well prepared for the workforce. But more than likely more students will take
college education more seriously since they have the chance to participate in
college without having to worry about the cost. One thing that we can do to change
the cost of college education would be to lower the cost of education by a little bit
for a year and see how many more students go to college. We could monitor the
statistics from year to year until we figure out a plan that helps
Relationships In Life Of Pi And The Lives Of Animals
Explore the relationship between humans and animals in Life of Pi and The Lives of
Animals
Introduction
According to Martin Heidegger (2000), anthropocentrism functions as a dogmatic
paradigm in which all aspects of the natural world are related to human beings. In this
view, humanity is at the centre of all subsequent theoretical assumptions, creating a
metanarrative that supports an entire system of thought. This way of understanding
the world, however, is incompatible with the postmodern approach and its tendency to
deconstruct apparent certainties, hierarchical divisions, and man s superiority and
intellect. Consequently, embedded in ecocriticism, a postmodern understanding of
the relationship between humans and animals is one of the most crucial challenges
to traditional Western conceptions of man as a sovereign being. This essay is going
to discuss this shift from a philosophy of a shared human essence to a more
fragmented theoretical model, arguing that human and ... Show more content on

Opposing to professor O Hearne s philosophical belief that a process of creating
abstract models separates animals from intelligent humans (The Lives of Animals:
62), and criticising experiments in which animals fail to exemplify human like
behaviour, Costello compares this dogmatism of reason to what Agamben (2004)
terms the anthropological machine. It is only within this ideological system of
oppression that man is godlike, animals thinglike (The Lives of Animals: 23), and
therefore he can do anything [to animals] and get away with it (The Lives of
Animals: 35). This assumption, she claims, is only legitimate within the essentialist
paradigm; outside of it, reason is only one tendency in human thought that propagates
animal degradation and suffering (The Lives of Animals:

Using Technological Approaches for the Presentation of...
Our world today has changed a great deal with the aid of information technology.
Things that were once done manually or by hand have now become computerized
operating systems, which simply require a single click of a mouse to get a task
completed. Information technology benefits society with communication by
allowing people to stay in touch with their families at very affordable costs. It
allows us to do things faster and easier with the use of the internet. It has already
become an integral part of our daily lives. For one, it is true that technologypartly
solves problems and makes life better. But is it really as perfect as they say? Let s
take a look at a comparative study about using technological approaches for the
presentation of curriculum in schools by video conferencing to deliver classes to
children in five rural schools in Canada(Barter P43). Admittedly, technology brings
more innovation and opportunities to people today to broaden their horizons and
improve efficiency. However, in this case, the use of technology in teaching brings
opportunities as well as challenges that stretch the limits of teaching and learning. It
causes many social problems, like decreasing job opportunities in rural areas and
increasing costs of equipment maintenance. The technological changes may likely
create new problems thereby threatening or damaging certain people s quality of life.
Information technology involves more than just computer literacy, but it also takes
into account
Supervisors
Supervisors are authoritative individuals who are in charge of the work execution
of other hierarchical individuals. Administrators have formal power to utilize
authoritative assets and to decide. In associations, there are normally three levels of
administration: top level, center level, and first level. These three primary levels of
administrators shape a progression, in which they are positioned all together of
significance. In many associations, the quantity of directors at every level is such
that the chain of command looks like a pyramid, with numerous all the more first
level supervisors, less center chiefs, and the least administrators at the top level. Each
of these administration levels is portrayed beneath as far as their conceivable... Show

Center directors employment titles include: General administrator, Plant chief,
Regional supervisor, and Divisional director. Center level chiefs are in charge of
completing the objectives set by top administration. They do as such by setting
objectives for their areas of expertise and different specialty units. Center
administrators can spur and help first line chiefs to accomplish business targets.
Center directors might likewise impart upward, by offering proposals and input to top
supervisors. Since center chiefs are more included in the everyday workings of an
organization, they might give profitable data to top supervisors to enhance the
association s primary concern. Employments in center administration differ generally
as far as obligation and compensation. Contingent upon the measure of the
organization and the quantity of center level directors in the firm, center chiefs might
regulate just a little gathering of representatives, or they might oversee vast
gatherings, for example, a whole business area. Center administrators might be
representatives who were advanced from first level supervisor positions inside of the
association, or they might have been procured from outside the firm. Some center
directors might have desires to hold positions in top administration later
Sharks Do Not Deserve Their Reputation Essay
A fisherman sits in his boat on the open sea, alone save for the fish below the water
s surface. The calmness of the ocean is disrupted by something underneath,
something big. Fear seeps through the fisherman s heart as he sees the shiny gray
dorsal fin pierce the sun glinted surface of the ocean. The creature stops its ritual
and pulls its head out of the water, revealing the face of a great white: scars from
countless battles in the ocean s depths, a mouth full of lethal daggers, and dark,
savage eyes. This image is what a majority of people believe to be the shark. They
believe it to be the bloodthirsty sea monster that appears in countless works of
literature and films, but science says otherwise. The classic picture painted by the...

At that point, Shark Man takes a shortcut to the beach and changes into a shark,
proceeding to kill and devour any person who did not heed his advice. (Peachin 4)
Despite the violent Hawaiian stories, sharks were not always seen as murderous
creatures. According to local tradition of the Solomon Islands, if a man had create
power during his lifetime, that power would carry over after his death. That man
would become a tindalo, a powerful spirit. His image would be displayed at a
sacred spot that was associated with him during his lifetime. According to the
legend, a tindalo did not stay deceased; he could decide to inhabit another living
creature, including a shark. (Peachin 6) In Vietnam, the shark was held in high
esteem. The whale shark was called Lord Fish, and its bones were taken to
selected temples and given sacred burials. In the Fiji islands, the high chiefs were
believed to be the direct descendants of the shark god Dakuwaqa. The ancient
Japanese used to pay homage to Shark Man, called Same Hito, the god of storms.
(Peachin 7) Most ancient cultures did not have direct access to sharks, and relied on
stories brought to them by fishermen returning from the ocean. What little
information the fisherman gave to their fellow people earned sharks an undeserved
reputation. (Peachin 7) Sharks remained a mystery for most people until the summer
of 1916, when a shark killed several people who were swimming on the New Jersey
The Causes And Effects Of Stress In High School
Have you ever had an assignment in school that was just too difficult to do on your
own? Maybe you ve had a few practices to go to. Sometimes, multiple things that
you have in school will surprise you enough that you may have stress. Multiple
things that get you caught up in school can be such a hassle, but afterwards, when
the situation is over, your stress is done and removes one, or a few things off of
your plate. Stress a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from
adverse or very demanding circumstances. Stress can be caused by multiple things
thrown at you at once, like example, when I was in high school, I had all of my
classes, my homework from each class, extra curricular classes, my friends and
family, etc. Stress can take over someone s life in a snap but you can get out of it,
it takes time and patients. Stress can make a person unhappy as well. With one of
my experiences with stress in high school was all of the homework i have been
getting, mostly math homework. Homework for me was, and is still very
stressful. I would always put it all off until the last second. That sure was a
mistake. Sure, i would finish them all in time, but i was stressing about how i
wouldn t get to turn it in on time as well. Like, my experience in math class in high
school, i was very bad at the math skills that were taught to the class. When i would
get the homework, i would usually try it, but if i ever got a problem wrong i would
always stress out about it, but then i would keep telling myself that i could do it.
So, i did some of the problems, until, i got distracted by other things, like checking
things on my laptop, or even talking to people. The day that the assignments would
be due, i would try and quickly finish the work before the teacher came over to my
groups table, which never really worked. But, when the year started winding
down, and i noticed my grade was dropping, i decided to actually get my work done
on that day, or on the next day. So that s one way of how i got rid of my stress.
Actually doing the work given to me! I ve experienced stress all of my life, another
example of this is how in highschool, i was part of two choirs, Concert choirand

Nazi Propaganda Poster Analysis
The intended goals of the influential posters were to influence public opinion
whether it be for or against a precise political agenda. These propaganda posters
manipulated public attitude into viewing things into their way of thinking. The
pictures and words on the posters were meticulously chosen and used deliberately
to influence the way one thinks. The strategies utilized in the posters appealed to
emotions rather than logical reasoning and always had motivational factors to
influence. Nazi ideology was portrayed in posters as part of Hitler s plan to
reshape German minds into his way of thinking. For example, in poster #2 a
smiling, good looking, well groomed German student is depicted holding a Nazi
flag. The young student is regarded in the community because of his education.
The poster emphasizes that he is proud to serve Nazi Germany in hopes of
influencing other young people to serve in the military. His proud stance suggests
that he feels privileged to be carrying a swastika which is the emblem of the
German Nazi Party. The student appears to embrace becoming a Nazi by creating a
sense of pride in the poster in an effort... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We follow you, leader. The poster emphasizes and tries to persuade the public
opinion that Hitler was the epitome of what a supreme leader is. The poster
portrays an oversized picture of Hitler positioned to appear to look like a strong
minded leader. The community is looking up at him with raised hands in an
approving and adulating manner. The poster attempts to influence people how they
should feel about Hitler by persuading them to believe he is the ultimate leader. His
stance with the clenched fist indicates that he is ready to rule outwardly and take
care of the people. The poster tries to show the people if they stand behind Hitler
and follow his lead good things will happen. The propaganda message symbolizes a

The Issue Of Human Rights
In this paper I will focus on the subject of human rights. The recognition of human
rights is widely seen as abstract, yet human rights affect daily lives worldwide. We
can understand human rights and its initial role on politics through the example of
higher rule denying citizens everyday rights, worldwide. In particular, I will compare
and contrast the theoretical perspectives of liberalism and realism, and assess that
human rightscan best be examined through liberalism due to its ability to bring light
to international cooperation and optimism to everyday human nature. Liberalism
essentially points to international law and international institutions as an important
feature of the international landscape while realism exclusively is state centric,
therefore, does not pay attention to the individual needs of humans nor groups of
humans. Also, I will identify why realism privileges the ethics of self interest over
other forms of morality, thus, leaving little room for discussion on human rights and
why it diminishes our understanding of human rights in the political world.
This essay will proceed as follows: I will briefly discuss the core tenets to the
approaches of liberalism and realism. Second, I will define the topic of human rights
and what those rights are. Third, I will outline my argument for why liberalism is
superior to realism at best explaining human rights in the following way.
To begin with, liberalism involves the keywords: optimism, self determination and
Time Machine Fear
H. G. Wells novella The Time Machine is a story about the price for a life of luxury.
Through his writing, he warns society of what could happen if they continued the
path they were on. Arriving in the future, thanks to the time machine that Wells
created, readers observe a world where society has split into two species. In Victorian
England, there was a fear residing in the upper classthat the working class would
engage in an uprising and throw them from power. This brought the desire for
security, which is what the Eloi hold in the year 802,701. Degeneration occurs when
people live in a society that requires little work and there is dependency on others for
food, shelter, and clothing. No physical labour means extinction of the survival...

These include poor air and water quality and the cramped conditions of working
class areas of cities; poor diet; and the use of narcotics such as alcohol, tobacco, or
opium (Vorachek 200). Wells used these environmental factors when creating the
living space of the Morlocks. They lived underground in dark tunnels which the
Time Traveller described as very stuffy and oppressive, and the faint halitus of
freshly shed blood was in the air (Wells 54). The cannibalism of the Morlocks also
played on another fear of society in the fin de siГЁcle. Since there was a fear of the
working class causing the degeneration of society, the cannibalistic activities can be
seen as representing the imminent proletarian revolution feared by some following
the growth of militant trade unionism and working class political organisation
(Partington 59). The Time Traveller addressed this fear and how the upper class
seemed to have combated it. He stated The too perfect security of the Upperworlders
had led them to a slow movement of degeneration, to a general dwindling in size,
strength and intelligence (Wells 49). The Eloi became comfortable in their security
that they no longer needed to defend themselves; consequently, leading them to being

Analysis Of Karel Capek s Rossum s Universal Robots
Fearless Robot Labor In Karel Capek s Rossum s Universal Robots, the factory
which Helena visits and lives at mass produces robots sold as workers around the
world. Originally, old Rossum began experimenting with the artificial creation of a
human being in order to uproot and imitate God. The young Rossum then simply
wanted to extinguish the need for human workers by creating robots that would
completely take over all the work that is necessary to sustain the human race. The
robots that he then created do not feel emotions and only exist to work for the
humans. The role that labor plays in R.U.R helps distinguish between robots and
humans because when the robots work, they are working for no reason other than
because they are ordered to do so by humans. Degrading work is not only found in
R.U.R, but also in the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, and when
analyzed, it is possible to determine when work is a meaningful human pursuit and
when it is merely dehumanizing slavery, based on the purpose behind it and the
humanity of the workers. Throughout Capek s play, work is viewed as degrading
because it has become something that is only done by robots. Humans shouldn t
have to do any work in the world Capek creates because the factory can mass
produce human like robots that can do all the work humans could do but like A
gasoline engine [that] doesn t need tassels and ornaments (Capek 9). Busman

The goal of the journey these two go on, is the convert the Hurons, and Algonkin to
Christianity. Through out Father Laforgue s journey many things make him question
if he is doing the right thing by trying to convert the savages. Algonkin had many
different beliefs then Laforgue, a major one being, they believed that their dreams
told the future. The Algonkin also thought the Black Robes were sorcery and would
put spells on them. Father Laforgue lost the faith of his assistant Daniel when he
fell in love with Annuka. Daniel began to sin by having sex with her, he tried to
keep it a secret from Laforgue but he caught Daniel in the act. When Father Laforgue
arrives to the village of Ihonatiria, he begins to question himself. He wonders what
the point of baptising them is if they are not going to commit to the life of Christianity
. Father Laforgue at first set out on a mission to convert the savages, he now

Duncan and the assassination of Banquo. When Lady Macbethis convincing her
husband to murderthe king, the reader is able to detect his hesitation to commit such
a heinous crime. Also, the remorse Macbeth feels after he murders Duncan proves
that he still possesses some of that honor and loyalty he originally held in such high
regard. However, when Macbeth has Banquo killed he has changed into a cold and
evil man. He, Macbeth, no longer clings to his honor and loyalty. In Macbeth by
William Shakespeare, Macbeth`s has a personality shift that is showcased in the
murders of King Duncan and Banquo. Macbeth is originally depicted as an honorable
and loyal man. However his ambition and his wife lead him to do things he would
never dream of without those influences. The hesitation that Macbeth shows when
thinking about murdering Duncan proves that he started out as an honorable man: I
have no spur/ To prick the sides of my intent, but only/ Vaulting ambition (pg. 40 ll 25
27). Without the prodding of his wife, Macbeth never would have committed the
murder of King Duncan.
The Morality Of Same Sex Marriage
The morality of same sex marriage is a major controversial issue in the United
States today. While Liberals believe that marriage should be the union of two
people who love each other and that it should be legal for gay and lesbian
individuals in order to ensure equal rights for all citizens, Conservatives believe that
marriage is the union of one woman and one man only and that requiring citizens to
sanction same sex relationships violates moral and religious beliefs. Taking
opposing viewpoints of this issue are both philosophers David Boonin and Jeff
Jordan who discuss the public dilemma of same sex marriagewithin their articles.

After providing a set of premises as to why one would hold the parity thesis which
states that homosexuality has the same moral status as heterosexuality true; Jordan
attacks these claims by objecting to the first premise which states that homosexual
acts between consenting adults do not harm anyone, and the fourth which explains
that discrimination against homosexuals removes individual freedom as it ignores
personal choice and privacy [Jordan 2]. He states that these premises are only
plausible when these acts are done in private, concluding that one should only be able
to discriminate homosexual behavior if it is done in public. This premise is an
assumption made by Jordan that unlike homosexual acts, people enjoy viewing
heterosexual acts that are displayed publically. This premise assumes that the
majority of society accepts viewing heterosexual behavior in public, but are
uncomfortable with viewing public homosexual acts.
To set up his argument in support of the Difference Thesis, Jordan creates a
scenario in which one person believes that subject X is morally wrong but another
person believes it is morally permissible, calling this conflict an impasse (Jordan 42).
He continues to define public dilemma as special case impasses and
24 Hours Before Sport
Nutrition is important for athletes as it provides the fuel needed to maintain energy
and ensures optimal performance (Nhmrc,2017). Athletes need to provide their body
with enough energy for training and ensure proper recovery

weaknesses in my diet 24 hours before sport. I will also discuss the nutritiona sports

foods.
My diet (see table 1) before sport is high in carbohydrates, but improvements can be
made as it is high in fat and low in protein. The strengths in my diet are the fruits and
vegetables as they contain vitamins, fibre and minerals (betterhealth,2016). I had

were consumed, which is used as fuel for energy. The weaknesses in my diet are too

Eating the correct foods creates a healthy development and stronger immune
system. A nutritious diet protects the body against certain types of diseases such
as obesity, cardiovascular disease and diabetes and gives the body minerals,
nutrients and compounds required to stay healthy (healthyeating,2017). Eating
incorrectly can lead to short term effects like stress, lack of energy and nutritional
deficiencies. Long term effects include diseases like heart disease, type 2 diabetes
and depression (livestrong,2017). Proper nutrition will ensure success of a
football player s performance, allowing them to play to their full potential for the
entire game. They will have enough energy, will be able to keep their muscles top
form and they will get fitter and stronger faster. If an athlete doesn t eat correctly
their bodies are less likely to achieve peak performance and they won t be as strong
and as fast as they won t be able to maintain their weight
Analytical Essay-Theme Of Rain
I believe the significance to the reference of rain in the story, communicates the fact
that nature is uninterrupted by not only mankind ways of life, but their catastrophic
disasters brought on by nuclear destruction. In that, although this fictional world was
apparently destroyed by a nuclear attack, it didn t affect nature from continuing to
function as normal. Furthermore, I would venture to say that the writer was making a
play on the fact that not only did nature continue as normal in the midst of disaster,
but the computerized home did so as well. In that, the computerized home responded
to the rainas if the inhabitants were still alive, and attempted to prepare the would be
residents, for the weather. The writer said, Somewhere in the walls, relays clicked,

the fact that nature continues in the midst of catastrophes and again so did the
computerized house in that the poem was read as normal. The writer said, Nine

due to all of his achievements and rewards. Throughout his career he has received
just about every major award that can be given to a coach. One that is probably one
of his favorites is when he was named the 32nd and 34th head coach for Kansas State,

Pros And Cons Of Argument Against Gun Control
Gun control has been one of the most debated topics in the United States and all over
the world. Public safety, economics, and the language of the second amendment are
parts of the gun control argument that might be considered. Because the topic is
whether or not the right to bear arms should include assault rifles, the definition of an
assault rifleneeds to be established. According to the NRA, an assault rifleis, By U.S.
Army definition, a selective fire rifle chambered for a cartridge of intermediate
power. If applied to any semi automatic firearm, regardless of its cosmetic similarity
to a true assault rifle, the term is incorrect. The other key term that plays a major role
in this subject is the second amendment. The second amendment states this, A well
regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the
people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Public safety tends to be one of the biggest concerns when assault rifles are included
in the discussion. There are pro gun control advocates say that countries such as
Australia with no guns have a lower rate of gun related violence. The people that are
against gun control believe quite the opposite and cite the rate of gun related violence
in Chicago as their proof against it. Another argument that supports gun control is that
the injuries that are treated with our tax money, and that this is a waste of money that
could be put towards other beneficial programs for our
How Qar Which Stands For Question Answer Relationship
Explain
QAR which stands for Question Answer Relationship. Is a strategy that helps you
understand the four different types of questions that are asked before, during, and
after reading. Therefore, knowing how to answer these questions will help you get
more answers correct and help you find the answers faster.
Now, where I can find answers to questions? QAR has two main categories. The
first category is in the text/book: which means that the answers are supplied by the
author. The second category is in my head: which means that the answers are based
on the reader s ideas and experiences (prior knowledge).
Let s look at the four different types of QAR s. So, if you look at your sheet of paper
titled the Question Answer Relationships, you see that there are many boxes.
However, we are going to focus on the top four boxes. The first box labeled Right
There is usually the easiest to find in the text/ book because the answer is found Right
There. It is usually found in one or two sentences. The second box labeled Think and
Search is a little harder than the first (Right There). Which means that the answer will
not be found in just one part of the text. It may be in several different sentences
throughout the text/book and you may have to search through the text/book to find
the answer. In addition, the reader has to make assumptions and put the answers that
they found linking them together. The third box labeled Author and Me, this means
that you are using the text/book and you
Key Characteristics of Gothic Architecture
What architectural changes were necessary in the shift from Romanesque to Gothic
cathedrals in Europe and what inspirational changes influenced these changes?
A.Plan of Investigation
This investigation s purpose is to analyze the changes in the architectural technique of
the Romanesque style of architecture and come to a conclusion as to whether the shift
in technique led to the rise of the more grandiose Gothic architecture in Europe. All
art is inspired and the influences that caused the change in technique will also be
investigated. In order to come to a conclusion I read books on the two styles I

Flying buttresses such as the ones featured in the Chartres cathedral provided
additional support outside of the building. The walls of Gothic cathedrals were
relatively thin and the buildings themselves were hollow. With the much more
slender skeleton, architects were able to add larger windows to the buildings. The
insides of Gothic cathedrals were very well lit due to the abundance of large stained
glass windows. Gothic cathedrals were known for the light that was let in as it made
them look like heaven. (differencebetween.net)
People during both the Romanesque and Gothic period were obsessed with heights.
Buildings were desired to reach the limit of their heights. (Tripathi) Both had the goal
of reaching the heavens and being grander than the previous wooden roof churches.
The answer medieval architects came to was to build a stronger support system made
of arches. What differentiated the two was how the architects implemented the arches.
C.Evaluation of Sources
One of the sources used is the book A Concise History of Western Architecture by
R. Furneaux Jordan. The book was published in the US in 1970 with the purpose of
providing a reference and putting together information about the different types of
architecture in the West. A limitation of this source is that it is not an up to date
source having been published over 40 years ago. The value, however, comes from the
fact that it had the ability to

time manufacturing is a philosophy of eliminating non value added activities and
increasing product quality throughout the manufacturing process (Meigs, Bettner, p.

But how can we control if our Just in time manufacturing system is efficient? The
answer to that is given by Meigs and Bettner : A widely used measure of efficiency
in a Just in time system is the Manufacturing Efficiency ratio (p. 805). This ratio is
given by the Value Added Activities time over the Cycle time. The cycle time is the
time of processing, storing, moving and inspecting that is spent on the material
before their usage. If the ratio is equal to one then we have the perfect Manufacturing
efficiency ratio. This means that the smaller the number the less efficient is our Just
in Time manufacturing method and the larger are the Value added activities.
Finally we can conclude that if we perform the Just in

Animal Abuse In The Circus
In a circus somewhere right now, an endangered tiger is leaping through a ring of
fire as circus patrons gasp, and then cheer. Elsewhere, a majestic elephant, the world
s largest land mammal, is carefully balancing on a tiny pedestal and performing for
the crowd (Anastasia). Many people have visited the circusand have enjoyed
watching endangered animals parade around the stage, but many do not know what
goes on behind the scenes. Animals are taken forcefully from their homes and
families. Bullhooks, electric prods, ropes and fireplace pokers are used to train the
animals in the circus (Godd). This process is hidden completely from the public and
is wholly unmonitored by any federal, state, or local entity (Godd). Ringling Bros.

Similar to most of the 19th century rulers of Mexico, Diaz was an officer of the army
that attained power through a coup. However, different from his predecessors, Diaz
created a stable political system where the officially representative Constitution of

History of Nigerian Ports Authority
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The history of port development in Nigeria dates back to the middle of 19th century.
This was long after the onset of sea borne trade and transactions which followed the
adventures of early explorations on the African coasts. Initial efforts towards
provision of facilities for ocean going vessels were the attempts to open up the
entrance to the Lagos Lagoon. Considerable littoral drift occurred along this coast;
and the constantly shifting channels in the bar at the entrance made entry very
difficult.
On February 1, 1914, the first mail steamer S/S AKOKO drawing 5.64 metres
entered the Lagos harbour. Two months later, vessels began to use the facilities
provided at the Customs wharf on Lagos Island.
Prior to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Authority also within this period continued to sustain the efforts already made
towards expansion of ports facilities in Lagos and Port Harcourt. In Lagos, six
berths of 943 metres were added to the existing ones, while four berths with a total
quay length of 506 metres were added to the facilities and steps were taken to
mechanize the traffic operations in these ports. In this era, port development
approach became tailored along declared national objectives. The Authority s
development strategy became programmed to fall in line with the first National
Development Plan 1962 1968. The second Apapa Wharf Extension was executed and
so also were further improvements of port facilities in Port Harcourt. The sum N45M
was spent during this period on the two ports.
CIVIL WAR ERA 1967 1970
This period had tremendous impact on the ports industry in Nigeria. The security
aspect of ports came into sharp focus. Port Harcourt (Rivers Ports) was closed to
foreign traffic. Lagos thus became the only available port serving the country s
maritime transportation needs.
The Federal Military Government enacted a special decree which empowered the
Nigerian Ports Authority to acquire the ports of Warri, Burutu and Calabar,
previously operated by private entrepreneurs. Holts Transport were former owners
of Warri Port, UAC owned Burutu Port. Calabar Port was originally owned by five
operators. NPA spent N3.35 million at the time to acquire these
Zoos And The Best Interest Of The Animals Essay
Nowadays, you can find a zoo in any state. They are continuing to pop up
everywhere, which raises the debate surrounding whether zoos are actually
beneficial or if they serve a purpose at all. However the argument that zoos provide a
way to observe, learn, and for entertainment purposes may not always be in the best
interest of the animals. As there are far more negative view points against the value
of zoos, such as the use of whips electric prods, and other blunt instruments. By
doing so forces innocent animals to do as humans say and what they want only for
the pleasure of pleasing a crowd. The provided statistics and facts show just how
wrong and completely cruel keeping animals in captivityis not right in anyway.
Unfortunately, zoos cannot provide adequate space necessary for animals to roam
freely and possesses an overabundance of breeding, with minimal room for offspring.
Although, zoos may be used for several reasons such as: Wildlife observation, for
educational purpose, conservation of near endangered species, and for entertainment.
Further, even if an animal is facing extinction zoos have no right to capture, confined,
and breed an animal. These awful places say they are educating the community. When
in reality they are just trapping animals and forcing them to live in captivity for a
profit. Millions of people frequent Zoos and Aquarium habitats yearly, for observation

Dogs have the ability to be adversely trained for militaristic operations, they even

Some of the jobs military dogs are used for are bomb detection, defense, messenger

importance of dogs. Compared to humans, dogs understanding of war and the
moralities which are attached to war are nonexistent, thus making tasks more easily

How Does This Affect Elizabeth And Darcy s Relationship
Will all this affect their relationship? In the story of Pride and Prejudice there are
multiple couples that were in love, but one of the major love stories is between
Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth. There were times in the story that Mr. Darcy does things
that bothers Elizabeth or Elizabeth does everything to try and ignore Mr. Darcy.
There was even a time when Mr. Darcy proposed to her and she declined because
she thought that he was a rich, selfish, and conceited person. The thing that made
Elizabeth say no, was because she had heard things from other people about how
bad or awful Mr. Darcy treats people. Wickham at one point decides that it would be
best if he did everything he could to make Elizabeth think that Mr. Darcy was an
awful human being.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Darcy was punctual in his return, and as Lydia informed you, attended the
wedding. He dined with us the next day, and was to leave town again on
Wednesday or Thursday. Will you be very angry with me, my dear Lizzy, if I take
this opportunity of saying (what I was never bold enough to say before) how much
I like him. His behaviour to us has, in every respect, been as pleasing as when we
were in Derbyshire. His understanding and opinions all please me; he wants nothing
but a little more liveliness, and that, if he marry prudently, his wife may teach him.
I thought him very sly; he hardly ever mentioned your name. But slyness seems the
fashion. (Austen chapter 52) Elizabeth found out in a letter that Mr. Darcy was at
Lydia s wedding. Elizabeth couldn t believe that Mr. Darcy would do that for her.
He made an agreement with Mr. Wickham, so that he would marry Lydia. This
incident changed a lot about Elizabeth and Darcy s relationship. It changed
Elizabeth opinion on Darcy, which was originally that he was selfish and very
prideful of himself. She also believed that he only cared for the people that had a
higher class or more money. But, really Darcy was in love with Elizabeth and
would do anything to be with her. He decided to go and find Wickham and Lydia in
London, and he wanted to make sure they got married, so that the Bennet family s

Lawson Case Essay
| LAWSONS CASE | |
10/6/2012 |
Executive Summary
Lawson is a general merchandising retailer in Riverdale, Ontario, which has had
four consecutive years of revenue and profit increases. The owner, Paul Mackay
wanted to operate a store that stressed value at competitive prices targeting low to
middle income families. With a wide range of products, Paul has been using only
one supplier. The supplier, FWL allows Paul to order on credit and pay at scheduled
intervals.
Problem Statement
Lawson is a clothing retailer who has recently met with a bank official asking them
for a couple of new services from the bank. The first new service that they have
requested is a bank loan that would be used to pay down their trade debt. ... Show

If there is any obsolete inventory can it be sent back to the supplier for a refund or
sold at a discount.
When looking at the financials of this company, I see that once the inventory and
trade debt is eliminated there is not a lot of money in the company. Lawson also
has a debt to Commercial Bank of Ontario that is secured by a pledge against all
company assets and a guarantee by FWL, Lawson s main supplier. Even this loan is
recorded on the balance sheet as more than the company s assets.
With an increase in sales of 10% and decrease in the interest paid on the trade debt,
Lawsons may not get ahead because Paul Mackay has increased his withdraws as
well.
Conclusions
Based on Lawson s current position, I do not feel that the best option for Lawson is
a bank loan. Lawson has to find a way to decrease its inventory and in turn control
its trade debt. The trade debt can be controlled by finding other suppliers in order
to keep the cost of goods sold down. FWL is considered a distributer, and as such
distributers are known to increase product prices when it sells to its customers as
this is how they make their money. Lawson should decrease its dependency on its
distributer, FWL and this will in turn decrease the interest that is paid, As a business
having only one supplier is becoming Lawson s downfall as they have no leverage on
Dr. Vernon Krieble Company Essay
Loctite de Mexico, S.A. de C.V.
Background and History Dr. Vernon Krieble founded Loctite Corporation in 1953
in Hartford, Connecticut; he was a retired Trinity College chemistry professor
(Merchant Van der Stede, 2012). Loctite was originally founded as American
Sealants Co. American Sealants Co s first product was n anerobic sealant, called
Loctite. Loctite was the top sealant producer in the world for anerobic sealants, it
maintained dominant at 85% in market shares in 1992. By 1992, Loctite produced a
broad range of different sealant and adhesive products around the world. Loctite was
ranked 477th on the Fortune 500 list of the largest US industrial corporations and

major marketing areas. The company was organized into four different geographical
groups: North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia/Pacific with North America
and Europe being the largest groups. (Merchant Van der Stede, 2012)
Mexican Environment The Mexican environment is considerably different from the
United States. Jose Monteiro will need to consider Mexico s culture when designing
and using his management control system. Mexican employees seem to be more
group oriented than individual oriented, as they are in the United States. As a result,
Jose needs to familiarize himself with Mexico s culture, and understand what
motivates employees to work hard. Mexico is a highly competitive market and has a
The Rwandan Genocide And The Tutsi Genocide
The Rwandan Genocide took place in April 1994 to July 1994 in the African nation
of Rwanda. It was the mass murder of the minority ethnic Tutsi group. The people
responsible for the genocide was the majority ethnic Hutu group. The Hutu group
murdered about 800,000 people, most of them the Tutsi group.About 500,000 Tutsi
women were raped and killed immediately afterwards. The most used weapon for
killing in the genocide was the machete. The Hutumilitias were sent to kill Tutsis.
Even Hutu men killed their Tutsi wives.( The Rwandan Genocide, n.d. Para 1) The
cause of the Rwandan Genocide was the Belgian colonial rule that put the Tutsi
minority group in control over Rwanda, the death of the Hutu president, and the
ethnic tension that was already there.
The Belgian colonial rule started after world war I in 1922 when Germany was
broke apart. It lasted all the way until Rwanda was granted national independence in
1961. The rule ripped people away from each other and also put them in other tribal
groups that they weren t familiar with. Just like the germans before them, Belgium
just put one ethnic group over the other. The Tutsi minority which was considered
educated, ruled over the Hutu majority who were not. The Hutus was often
considered as illiterate while the Tutsis were very smart and educated and held the
higher level jobs and controlled the government. The Belgians took a better liking
into the Tutsis and educated them in catholic schools which made the Hutus angry.
Improving Memory Essay example
Memory is a very important tool to our everyday lives. Without memory, we would
not be able to function very productively. You can look at someone suffering with
Alzheimer s disease and see the effects of the inability to make new memories, as
well as lost and confused memory. According to what I have read in the textbook, the
foundation of our speech and learning is our memory.
In general, there are three types of memory: sensory memory, short term memory and
long term memory. Sensory memory, by definition, is the preservation of information
in its original sensory form, for a fraction of a second. This means that when you
smell, touch and/or see anything, the impression of the occurrence will last for a
couple of moments. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interference of other material also plays a role in the short term forgetfulness. It is
hard for the brain to focus on committing more than one thing memory at a time. The
old stuff is bumped out by the new stuff, which is a big contributor to why you
forget. Our short term memory seems to have a limited amount of places to hold this
temporary data. This is an area that has been studied a lot. There are different theories
about how much we actually retain before it is pushed out by the next thought.
Chunking makes remembering easier as well. It involves grouping information into
familiar stimuli so it can be stored as a single unit. This takes up fewer memory slots
and makes remembering smoother. The chunks are effective when they are
associated with something familiar to the individual. This ties into the long term
memory because that is where you draw the familiarity.
Long term memory is presumably unlimited storage that holds information for long
periods. This could be a large amount of time. This information comes from the short
term memory. Whenever you make a connection to the data, it moves into this forever
storage. Uninterrupted repetition and the meaningful association help to make this
possible; I use this to help me. I believe, in order to prevent forgetting, you would
need to recall the stored information constantly. For example, if it is a test you are
studying for, you might want to
Capital Asset Pricing Model ( Capm )
Critically discuss the uses and limitations of the CAPM
Introduction
Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) was developed in 1964 based on Modern
Portfolio Theory. CAMP widely used in investment decisions and financial areas of
the company. The main research of CAMP are the relationship between expected
rate of return and risk assets in the stock market, as well as how the equilibrium price
formation. In terms of the valuation of assets, CAPM primarily used to determine
whether the securities market be mispricing. Capital Asset Pricing Model measure
risk by non diversified variance, it linked risk and expected return, any non
diversified risk assets can be described by the value of ОІ, then calculate the expected
rate of return. Rate of return required by investors is equals to the discount rate. The
limitation of CAPM are: CAPM assumptions inconsistent with the actual; CAPM
Should apply only to capital assets, human assets may not be traded; Estimated ОІ
coefficient represents the past of variation, but investors are concerned about the
security volatility of future price; In the actual situation, the risk free asset and the
market portfolio may not exist.
Main Body
The advantage of CAPM is that it provide a clear and intuitively explicit forecast in
regard to how to measure risk and the connection between risk and expected
return(Fama French , 2004).Accordance to the provisions of CAPM, Beta coefficient
is used to measure an asset systemic risk, it is used to measure the
Analysis Of The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe
The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is a classic piece of children s fantasy
literature that was published by the English author C.S. Lewis in 1950. It vividly
portrays the fictitious lives of four young siblings, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy
during the time period of World War II. The reader travels along with the siblings,
as they discover the magical land of Narnia that extends beyond an enormous
wardrobe. The children within the story develop as a result of their experience
within Narnia, and ultimately grow as individuals based on the struggles they face.
The reader travels along with them while contemplating issues of good versus evil,
problem solving, moral reasoning and identity development. A literary element from
this text that helps shine multiple lights onto the same story, is the third person
omniscient narrative. Within the novel, the narrator makes extensive use of the
omniscience. Through the eyes of a child: An introduction to children s literature
notes that when writing from the omniscient point of view, the author is not
restricted to the knowledge, experiences, and feelings of one person; the feelings
and thoughts of all characters can be revealed. (Norton, 98). Specific to this novel,
the reader is sometimes receiving messages and focusing exclusively from Lucy,
such as when she made her first trip into the wardrobe. Lucy felt a little frightened,
but she felt very inquisitive and excited as well. She looked back over her shoulder
and there,

Language And Communication Essay
Language is shared among all humans, but it is hardly straightforward. As
mentioned in our many lectures, Ferdinand de Saussure described language as
...series of differences of sound combined with a series of differences of ideas. As
such, there is a linguistic influence on our thoughts. Language is much more than
communicating because it can also be representational on how we think about
ourselves and the world that surrounds us. It is because we use language to express
our thoughts, feelings, and ideas, that these communications shape the process of
how we think and feel. It is something that is continuously evolving over time.
Some languages can cease to exist, but new forms can arrive in their place. This is
especially so when two different languages make contact. However, it s not
necessarily the languages themselves making contact, but the people who speak
those languages. The world has a history of people migrating to new places around
the globe; people like explorers and nomads and prisoners and slaves who settle in
new lands. Through these travels, many people from different cultures and languages
meet, but how can they communicate effectively? What if people are forced to live
in a place where no one speaks their native tongue? In these type of situations is what
forms a pidgin, or a kind of language used to facilitate contact and relationships
between persons of two or more languages. Trade and colonization is a critical factor
of when this type of supplemental

Within the unprecedented challenges posed by the explosive growth of urban
population, the lack of water supply and sanitation is one of the most urgent and
harmful issues. The relationship between water supply and cities welfare is very
important, as cities require a huge supply of fresh water, and in turn, the way in
which the city makes use of water has an impact on the availability of fresh water. It
is impossible to consider a city as being sustainable , if it cannot ensure safe access to
drinking water and suitable sanitation to its habitants. (Naciones Unidas, 2010)
Before the earthquake in 2010, the water and sanitation situation was already very
troubling. The provided services were defined by low potable
A Project Management Plan For The Orion Shield Project
Executive Summary
A good project management plan takes some preparation it includes the basic
concepts of proper planning, organization and great project manager management
skills. It includes a variety of resources that come together to achieve a certain goal.
As project manager it is imperative that he or she deliver the necessary results within
the time limitation as well as within the allotted budget. Effective project managers
allocate certain aspects of the project to their team in order to ensure the project s
success. The Orion Shield Project is a story of a recently chosen project manager,
Gary Allison, who worked for the Scientific Engineering Corporation (SEC) whose
lack of experience, skills, actions and unethical decisions resulted in a practically
failing project for the NASA. Gary being a project engineer was more focused on
one aspect of the project and not the other thus unable to find the right balance
between the two. This paper will identify and analyze the challenges of an
unorganized project as well as discuss recommendations to enhance the performance
of the project manager.
Introduction
In order to be an effective project manager certain things have to be accomplished.
According to Schwalbe ( 2015), Project managers must not only strive to meet
specific scope, time, cost, and quality requirements of projects, they must also
facilitate the entire process to meet the needs and expectations of the people involved
in or affected by project

Manipulating and Deceiving Viewers with Sound Bites and Images In Duguid
and Brown s article The Social Life of Documents , the authors make mention of
how documents usually tend to raise more debate than suppress it. This is true, as
there can be an innumerable amount of possible interpretations for one document
alone. However, while there is no right interpretation of a document, there has to
be a set of standards to abide by to judge all of these competing ideologies. This is
where the use of sound bites and images used in news media tend to be a source of
debate. First of all, sound bites are defined as film segments within a news story that
show someone speak without interruption , while image bites are defined as film...

In so many words, the image can be influential in delivering a subconscious
message. Another problem that occurs with the use of images in the media, is the
disagreement that occurs when textual crawls on the bottom of the screen are
unconnected to the captions, images, and audio narrative they are shown in
conjunction with (Wojcieszak, 10). This results in audience distraction, as the
work required to comprehend the contradictory messages is similar to reading two
newspapers at once (Esser, 4). Now for some specific examples of the juxtaposition
of words and images in the media. In the aftermath of both 9/11 and Hurricane
Katrina, CNN, Fox News and MSNBC, repeatedly used onscreen and audio
messages during their broadcasts to add to the gravity of the already dramatic
footage. In one case, CNN used images of military trucks and armed, uniformed men
because they conveyed a sense of emergency and also because of their association
with wars and danger (see Appendix A). This idea was further encouraged by
combining this footage with the captions, The Day After and America Under Attack.
Also repeatedly using the words victims and soldiers, Green 4 upheld the drama of
this iconic linguistic combination (Wojcieszak, 10). After the 9/11 attacks, the
Palestinian rights activist Hanan Ashrawi was interviewed on CNN. She was trying
to convince the American public of the unrepresentative nature of the celebrations that
The Dark Side Of The Glass
The glass slipped out her hand, shattering into a thousand tiny crystals. She let out a
piercing scream. Backing away from him, her hands immediately grasped her throat
as it started to burn; letting memory guide her towards the kitchen sink, arms
outstretched to feel for the counters edge, the cold marble tiles desensitised her bare
feet. Her eyes watered and blurred ( her surroundings becoming indistinguishable ).
The pain seared into her skull. Half formed thoughts wrestled with each other to get
her attention pushed back by the all consuming fire in her eyes and the panic that
flooded her body when everything became so hazy.

kitchen. He was still in there. After rummaging through various coat pockets; she felt
sharpness of the metal and sighed with relief recognising it by the colour of the
bright neon keyring which he got her.
Abruptly, the sound of heavy footsteps descended from the kitchen. She cupped her
mouth not even letting a puff of breath surrender her. She struggled to make out her
bearings. She tugged at her jacket and fell to the ground. The door creaked open. Her

  • 2. State Fair Narrative I believe that there are events that are meant to happen for us in our lives. But, only if we are willing to put in the work to get the opportunity to put ourselves in the right places at the right time. There are not too many things in life that are worth accomplishing that are not also worth putting in the time and effort it takes to achieve. That morning it was a chill, cool morning at the MinnesotaState Fair. 4:45 a.m.: It was an earlier start to the morning since as a county we had sixteen heifers and cows to have washed, let dry and fitted before the show started at about 8:30 with the cow classes. This was only my second year being old enough to be down at the state fair, so I was put on the crew that had to wash the morning of the show. As I sluggishly scrubbed... In the class we circle a couple of time and then he pulls us into the first line up. As I watched the judge raise his hand to point me in the first spot of the first line sent a chill down my back. But I knew I wasn t done with my work yet, there were still things that I had to do to make my cow look its best in the line up. There have been many times when a judge has first had a different cow in first place in the first line up than the final one. So I wasn t taking any chances this time, I worked so hard to get my cow setup best and had her looking as good as she could. Then as he gave the hand motion to half circle into the final line a huge feeling of relief was put over me and I knew I had just won my class down at the state
  • 3. Essay on Electoral College According to critics, the Electoral College is a faulty system that should be abolished and replaced by direct election. Supporters of the Electoral College system make convincing arguments that it is the best system to decide the Presidential election in a complex society such as the United States. Many scholars place the Electoral College into a historical context by discussing its evolution and sustenance throughout the history of the United States. This paper will discuss the main arguments made by supporters of the Electoral College System. I will first provide a description of the Electoral College and offer justifications as to why it was conceived by the Founding Fathers. Next, I will present major arguments from the critics of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, a compromise was made by the delegates to have electors chosen by the various state legislatures elect the President. This is the decision that made The Constitution. Critics of the Electoral College often make three main arguments. The first argument states that the Electoral College does not accurately represent the will of the people. The Electoral College s failure to capture the will of the people derives from the winner take all system where the Presidential candidates compete to win the most popular votes and whoever wins in that state, wins all the electoral votes of that state. With this, it becomes difficult if not impossible for third party or independent parties to make a showing in the Electoral College. Subsequently, the argument states that the Electoral College supports a two party system and discourages third party and independent candidates, which in turn restricts the choices available to the electorate. The second argument is the possible role of the Electoral College in depressing the voter turnout. Since each State is entitled to the same number of electoral votes regardless of its voter turnout, there is no incentive in the States to encourage voter participation and, finally the third argument is based on the alleged unfairness in the process by which the votes are distributed among the

Although some people believe that college education shouldn t be cheaper because Students may not learn to become as financially literate. I believe that college should be cheaper for many reasons; such as, more people will want to go to college, more people will have a higher education, (which solves more problems) and best of all, it saves money. I believe that more people would want to go to college if it were cheaper. A lot of students can not attend college due to the fact that their parents can t afford to help them out or they don t have a high paying job yet. In some ways lowering the cost of college education doesn t help, for example (2017, http://www.trade schools.net/ articles /should college be free.asp Students might take their college education less seriously if they don t have to pay for it. So graduation numbers might drop, or the people who do graduate might not be as well prepared for the workforce. But more than likely more students will take college education more seriously since they have the chance to participate in college without having to worry about the cost. One thing that we can do to change the cost of college education would be to lower the cost of education by a little bit for a year and see how many more students go to college. We could monitor the statistics from year to year until we figure out a plan that helps
  • 5. Relationships In Life Of Pi And The Lives Of Animals Explore the relationship between humans and animals in Life of Pi and The Lives of Animals Introduction According to Martin Heidegger (2000), anthropocentrism functions as a dogmatic paradigm in which all aspects of the natural world are related to human beings. In this view, humanity is at the centre of all subsequent theoretical assumptions, creating a metanarrative that supports an entire system of thought. This way of understanding the world, however, is incompatible with the postmodern approach and its tendency to deconstruct apparent certainties, hierarchical divisions, and man s superiority and intellect. Consequently, embedded in ecocriticism, a postmodern understanding of the relationship between humans and animals is one of the most crucial challenges to traditional Western conceptions of man as a sovereign being. This essay is going to discuss this shift from a philosophy of a shared human essence to a more fragmented theoretical model, arguing that human and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Opposing to professor O Hearne s philosophical belief that a process of creating abstract models separates animals from intelligent humans (The Lives of Animals: 62), and criticising experiments in which animals fail to exemplify human like behaviour, Costello compares this dogmatism of reason to what Agamben (2004) terms the anthropological machine. It is only within this ideological system of oppression that man is godlike, animals thinglike (The Lives of Animals: 23), and therefore he can do anything [to animals] and get away with it (The Lives of Animals: 35). This assumption, she claims, is only legitimate within the essentialist paradigm; outside of it, reason is only one tendency in human thought that propagates animal degradation and suffering (The Lives of Animals:

Admittedly, technology brings more innovation and opportunities to people today to broaden their horizons and improve efficiency. However, in this case, the use of technology in teaching brings opportunities as well as challenges that stretch the limits of teaching and learning. It causes many social problems, like decreasing job opportunities in rural areas and increasing costs of equipment maintenance. The technological changes may likely create new problems thereby threatening or damaging certain people s quality of life. Information technology involves more than just computer literacy, but it also takes into account

  • 12. The Causes And Effects Of Stress In High School Have you ever had an assignment in school that was just too difficult to do on your own? Maybe you ve had a few practices to go to. Sometimes, multiple things that you have in school will surprise you enough that you may have stress. Multiple things that get you caught up in school can be such a hassle, but afterwards, when the situation is over, your stress is done and removes one, or a few things off of your plate. Stress a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. Stress can be caused by multiple things thrown at you at once, like example, when I was in high school, I had all of my classes, my homework from each class, extra curricular classes, my friends and family, etc. Stress can take over someone s life in a snap but you can get out of it, it takes time and patients. Stress can make a person unhappy as well. With one of my experiences with stress in high school was all of the homework i have been getting, mostly math homework. Homework for me was, and is still very stressful. I would always put it all off until the last second. That sure was a mistake. Sure, i would finish them all in time, but i was stressing about how i wouldn t get to turn it in on time as well. Like, my experience in math class in high school, i was very bad at the math skills that were taught to the class. When i would get the homework, i would usually try it, but if i ever got a problem wrong i would always stress out about it, but then i would keep telling myself that i could do it. So, i did some of the problems, until, i got distracted by other things, like checking things on my laptop, or even talking to people. The day that the assignments would be due, i would try and quickly finish the work before the teacher came over to my groups table, which never really worked. But, when the year started winding down, and i noticed my grade was dropping, i decided to actually get my work done on that day, or on the next day. So that s one way of how i got rid of my stress. Actually doing the work given to me! I ve experienced stress all of my life, another example of this is how in highschool, i was part of two choirs, Concert choirand Madrigals. Now this sums

These propaganda posters manipulated public attitude into viewing things into their way of thinking. The pictures and words on the posters were meticulously chosen and used deliberately to influence the way one thinks. The strategies utilized in the posters appealed to emotions rather than logical reasoning and always had motivational factors to influence. Nazi ideology was portrayed in posters as part of Hitler s plan to reshape German minds into his way of thinking. For example, in poster #2 a smiling, good looking, well groomed German student is depicted holding a Nazi flag. The young student is regarded in the community because of his education. The poster emphasizes that he is proud to serve Nazi Germany in hopes of influencing other young people to serve in the military. • 14. The Issue Of Human Rights In this paper I will focus on the subject of human rights. The recognition of human rights is widely seen as abstract, yet human rights affect daily lives worldwide. We can understand human rights and its initial role on politics through the example of higher rule denying citizens everyday rights, worldwide. In particular, I will compare and contrast the theoretical perspectives of liberalism and realism, and assess that human rightscan best be examined through liberalism due to its ability to bring light to international cooperation and optimism to everyday human nature. Liberalism essentially points to international law and international institutions as an important feature of the international landscape while realism exclusively is state centric, therefore, does not pay attention to the individual needs of humans nor groups of humans. Also, I will identify why realism privileges the ethics of self interest over other forms of morality, thus, leaving little room for discussion on human rights and why it diminishes our understanding of human rights in the political world. This essay will proceed as follows: I will briefly discuss the core tenets to the approaches of liberalism and realism. Second, I will define the topic of human rights and what those rights are. Third, I will outline my argument for why liberalism is superior to realism at best explaining human rights in the following way. To begin with, liberalism involves the keywords: optimism, self determination and

In Victorian England, there was a fear residing in the upper classthat the working class would engage in an uprising and throw them from power. This brought the desire for security, which is what the Eloi hold in the year 802,701. Degeneration occurs when people live in a society that requires little work and there is dependency on others for food, shelter, and clothing. No physical labour means extinction of the survival... These include poor air and water quality and the cramped conditions of working class areas of cities; poor diet; and the use of narcotics such as alcohol, tobacco, or opium (Vorachek 200). Wells used these environmental factors when creating the living space of the Morlocks. They lived underground in dark tunnels which the Time Traveller described as very stuffy and oppressive, and the faint halitus of freshly shed blood was in the air (Wells 54). The cannibalism of the Morlocks also played on another fear of society in the fin de siГЁcle. Since there was a fear of the working class causing the degeneration of society, the cannibalistic activities can be seen as representing the imminent proletarian revolution feared by some following the growth of militant trade unionism and working class political organisation (Partington 59). The Time Traveller addressed this fear and how the upper class seemed to have combated it. He stated The too perfect security of the Upperworlders had led them to a slow movement of degeneration, to a general dwindling in size, strength and intelligence (Wells 49). The Eloi became comfortable in their security that they no longer needed to defend themselves; consequently, leading them to being slaughtered by the

Analysis Of Karel Capek s Rossum s Universal Robots Fearless Robot Labor In Karel Capek s Rossum s Universal Robots, the factory which Helena visits and lives at mass produces robots sold as workers around the world. Originally, old Rossum began experimenting with the artificial creation of a human being in order to uproot and imitate God. The young Rossum then simply wanted to extinguish the need for human workers by creating robots that would completely take over all the work that is necessary to sustain the human race. The robots that he then created do not feel emotions and only exist to work for the humans. The role that labor plays in R.U.R helps distinguish between robots and humans because when the robots work, they are working for no reason other than because they are ordered to do so by humans. Degrading work is not only found in R.U.R, but also in the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, and when analyzed, it is possible to determine when work is a meaningful human pursuit and when it is merely dehumanizing slavery, based on the purpose behind it and the humanity of the workers. Throughout Capek s play, work is viewed as degrading because it has become something that is only done by robots. Humans shouldn t have to do any work in the world Capek creates because the factory can mass produce human like robots that can do all the work humans could do but like A gasoline engine [that] doesn t need tassels and ornaments (Capek 9). He states that these premises are only plausible when these acts are done in private, concluding that one should only be able to discriminate homosexual behavior if it is done in public. This premise is an assumption made by Jordan that unlike homosexual acts, people enjoy viewing heterosexual acts that are displayed publically. This premise assumes that the majority of society accepts viewing heterosexual behavior in public, but are uncomfortable with viewing public homosexual acts. To set up his argument in support of the Difference Thesis, Jordan creates a scenario in which one person believes that subject X is morally wrong but another person believes it is morally permissible, calling this conflict an impasse (Jordan 42). He continues to define public dilemma as special case impasses and

  • 36. History of Nigerian Ports Authority HISTORICAL BACKGROUND The history of port development in Nigeria dates back to the middle of 19th century. This was long after the onset of sea borne trade and transactions which followed the adventures of early explorations on the African coasts. Initial efforts towards provision of facilities for ocean going vessels were the attempts to open up the entrance to the Lagos Lagoon. Considerable littoral drift occurred along this coast; and the constantly shifting channels in the bar at the entrance made entry very difficult. On February 1, 1914, the first mail steamer S/S AKOKO drawing 5.64 metres entered the Lagos harbour. Two months later, vessels began to use the facilities provided at the Customs wharf on Lagos Island. Prior to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Authority also within this period continued to sustain the efforts already made towards expansion of ports facilities in Lagos and Port Harcourt. In Lagos, six berths of 943 metres were added to the existing ones, while four berths with a total quay length of 506 metres were added to the facilities and steps were taken to mechanize the traffic operations in these ports. In this era, port development approach became tailored along declared national objectives. The Authority s development strategy became programmed to fall in line with the first National Development Plan 1962 1968. The second Apapa Wharf Extension was executed and so also were further improvements of port facilities in Port Harcourt. The sum N45M was spent during this period on the two ports. CIVIL WAR ERA 1967 1970 This period had tremendous impact on the ports industry in Nigeria. The security aspect of ports came into sharp focus. Port Harcourt (Rivers Ports) was closed to foreign traffic. Lagos thus became the only available port serving the country s maritime transportation needs. The Federal Military Government enacted a special decree which empowered the Nigerian Ports Authority to acquire the ports of Warri, Burutu and Calabar, previously operated by private entrepreneurs. Holts Transport were former owners of Warri Port, UAC owned Burutu Port. Calabar Port was originally owned by five operators. NPA spent N3.35 million at the time to acquire these

They are continuing to pop up everywhere, which raises the debate surrounding whether zoos are actually beneficial or if they serve a purpose at all. However the argument that zoos provide a way to observe, learn, and for entertainment purposes may not always be in the best interest of the animals. As there are far more negative view points against the value of zoos, such as the use of whips electric prods, and other blunt instruments. By doing so forces innocent animals to do as humans say and what they want only for the pleasure of pleasing a crowd. The provided statistics and facts show just how wrong and completely cruel keeping animals in captivityis not right in anyway. Unfortunately, zoos cannot provide adequate space necessary for animals to roam freely and possesses an overabundance of breeding, with minimal room for offspring. Although, zoos may be used for several reasons such as: Wildlife observation, for educational purpose, conservation of near endangered species, and for entertainment. Further, even if an animal is facing extinction zoos have no right to capture, confined, and breed an animal. These awful places say they are educating the community. When in reality they are just trapping animals and forcing them to live in captivity for a profit. Millions of people frequent Zoos and Aquarium habitats yearly, for observation and entertainment purpose. Annually more than 700 million people visit zoos and aquariums

In the story of Pride and Prejudice there are multiple couples that were in love, but one of the major love stories is between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth. There were times in the story that Mr. Darcy does things that bothers Elizabeth or Elizabeth does everything to try and ignore Mr. Darcy. There was even a time when Mr. Darcy proposed to her and she declined because she thought that he was a rich, selfish, and conceited person. With a wide range of products, Paul has been using only one supplier. The supplier, FWL allows Paul to order on credit and pay at scheduled intervals. The first new service that they have requested is a bank loan that would be used to pay down their trade debt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If there is any obsolete inventory can it be sent back to the supplier for a refund or sold at a discount. When looking at the financials of this company, I see that once the inventory and trade debt is eliminated there is not a lot of money in the company. Lawson also has a debt to Commercial Bank of Ontario that is secured by a pledge against all company assets and a guarantee by FWL, Lawson s main supplier. Even this loan is recorded on the balance sheet as more than the company s assets. With an increase in sales of 10% and decrease in the interest paid on the trade debt, Lawsons may not get ahead because Paul Mackay has increased his withdraws as well. Conclusions Based on Lawson s current position, I do not feel that the best option for Lawson is a bank loan. Lawson has to find a way to decrease its inventory and in turn control its trade debt. The trade debt can be controlled by finding other suppliers in order to keep the cost of goods sold down. FWL is considered a distributer, and as such distributers are known to increase product prices when it sells to its customers as this is how they make their money. Lawson should decrease its dependency on its distributer, FWL and this will in turn decrease the interest that is paid, As a business having only one supplier is becoming Lawson s downfall as they have no leverage on

The Hutu group murdered about 800,000 people, most of them the Tutsi group.About 500,000 Tutsi women were raped and killed immediately afterwards. The most used weapon for killing in the genocide was the machete. The Hutumilitias were sent to kill Tutsis. Even Hutu men killed their Tutsi wives.( The Rwandan Genocide, n.d. Para 1) The cause of the Rwandan Genocide was the Belgian colonial rule that put the Tutsi minority group in control over Rwanda, the death of the Hutu president, and the ethnic tension that was already there. The Belgian colonial rule started after world war I in 1922 when Germany was broke apart. It lasted all the way until Rwanda was granted national independence in 1961. The rule ripped people away from each other and also put them in other tribal groups that they weren t familiar with. Just like the germans before them, Belgium just put one ethnic group over the other. The Tutsi minority which was considered educated, ruled over the Hutu majority who were not. You can look at someone suffering with Alzheimer s disease and see the effects of the inability to make new memories, as well as lost and confused memory. According to what I have read in the textbook, the foundation of our speech and learning is our memory. In general, there are three types of memory: sensory memory, short term memory and long term memory. Sensory memory, by definition, is the preservation of information in its original sensory form, for a fraction of a second. This means that when you smell, touch and/or see anything, the impression of the occurrence will last for a couple of moments. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interference of other material also plays a role in the short term forgetfulness. It is hard for the brain to focus on committing more than one thing memory at a time. The old stuff is bumped out by the new stuff, which is a big contributor to why you forget. Our short term memory seems to have a limited amount of places to hold this temporary data. This is an area that has been studied a lot. There are different theories about how much we actually retain before it is pushed out by the next thought. Chunking makes remembering easier as well. It involves grouping information into familiar stimuli so it can be stored as a single unit. This takes up fewer memory slots and makes remembering smoother. The chunks are effective when they are associated with something familiar to the individual. This ties into the long term memory because that is where you draw the familiarity. Long term memory is presumably unlimited storage that holds information for long periods. This could be a large amount of time. This information comes from the short term memory. Whenever you make a connection to the data, it moves into this forever storage. Uninterrupted repetition and the meaningful association help to make this possible; I use this to help me. I believe, in order to prevent forgetting, you would need to recall the stored information constantly. For example, if it is a test you are studying for, you might want to

In terms of the valuation of assets, CAPM primarily used to determine whether the securities market be mispricing. Rate of return required by investors is equals to the discount rate. The limitation of CAPM are: CAPM assumptions inconsistent with the actual; CAPM Should apply only to capital assets, human assets may not be traded; Estimated ОІ coefficient represents the past of variation, but investors are concerned about the security volatility of future price; In the actual situation, the risk free asset and the market portfolio may not exist. The reader travels along with the siblings, as they discover the magical land of Narnia that extends beyond an enormous wardrobe. The children within the story develop as a result of their experience within Narnia, and ultimately grow as individuals based on the struggles they face. The reader travels along with them while contemplating issues of good versus evil, problem solving, moral reasoning and identity development. A literary element from this text that helps shine multiple lights onto the same story, is the third person omniscient narrative. Within the novel, the narrator makes extensive use of the omniscience. Through the eyes of a child: An introduction to children s literature notes that when writing from the omniscient point of view, the author is not restricted to the knowledge, experiences, and feelings of one person; the feelings and thoughts of all characters can be revealed. As mentioned in our many lectures, Ferdinand de Saussure described language as ...series of differences of sound combined with a series of differences of ideas. As such, there is a linguistic influence on our thoughts. Language is much more than communicating because it can also be representational on how we think about ourselves and the world that surrounds us. It is because we use language to express our thoughts, feelings, and ideas, that these communications shape the process of how we think and feel. It is something that is continuously evolving over time. Some languages can cease to exist, but new forms can arrive in their place. This is especially so when two different languages make contact. However, it s not necessarily the languages themselves making contact, but the people who speak those languages. The world has a history of people migrating to new places around the globe; people like explorers and nomads and prisoners and slaves who settle in new lands. Through these travels, many people from different cultures and languages meet, but how can they communicate effectively? Another problem that occurs with the use of images in the media, is the disagreement that occurs when textual crawls on the bottom of the screen are unconnected to the captions, images, and audio narrative they are shown in conjunction with (Wojcieszak, 10). This results in audience distraction, as the work required to comprehend the contradictory messages is similar to reading two newspapers at once (Esser, 4). Now for some specific examples of the juxtaposition of words and images in the media. In the aftermath of both 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, CNN, Fox News and MSNBC, repeatedly used onscreen and audio messages during their broadcasts to add to the gravity of the already dramatic footage. In one case, CNN used images of military trucks and armed, uniformed men because they conveyed a sense of emergency and also because of their association with wars and danger (see Appendix A). This idea was further encouraged by combining this footage with the captions, The Day After and America Under Attack. Also repeatedly using the words victims and soldiers, Green 4 upheld the drama of this iconic linguistic combination (Wojcieszak, 10).
