How Did Pocahontas Affect Society
ich was considered her secret name, and Amonute, which was more public. Her early
life was just the start when it came to the impact she had on society. Pocahontas
became a prominent figure in the colonization process of the new world due to her
civil interactions with English settlers, specifically John Smith and John Rolfe. When
most people think of Pocahontas, John Smith comes to mind as well. John Smith first
met Pocahontas when she was estimated to be ten or eleven years old. He, at this
time period, was about twenty eight years of age. That being said, there is no
evidence of any sort of romantic interaction between the two. Although the romantic
factor between them is often thought of due to their portrayal in movies and other...

Pocahontas first met John Rolfe while staying in a Virginian settlement known as,
Henricus. At this time period, the idea of intermarriage of Native Americans and
English colonists was still fairly new. That being said, John Rolfe had to pledge
his proposal of marriage for Pocahontas to the governor of Virginia. In this long
letter to the governor, he discussed his undeniable love for Pocahontas. He also
claimed that by marrying her, he would be saving her soul. Despite the fact that
Rolfe s romantic feelings toward Pocahontas are quite noticeable, her feelings
towards him are never actually mentioned. However, their wedding took place on
April 5, 1614. After they became married, they lived on a plantation in Virginia for a
couple of years where their son, Thomas, was born. The marriage of Pocahontas and
John Rolfe was one of the most significant events that related to the interactions
between the Native Americans and the colonists. It created feelings of peace and
tranquility between the two vastly different groups of people. It also helped establish
trade and commerce among them. Before the wedding occurred, the first Anglo
Powhatan War was in process, and the marriage helped put an end to the fighting.
Furthermore, the marriage to Rolfe converted Pocahontas to the religion of
Christianity. This act of conversion was immensely important to officials back in
England because it accomplished one of their primary goals of
Full Moon Sushi Research Paper
Full Moon Sushi is a local favorite of many San Clemente sushi lovers. First let me
decribe what you will see in the small restraunt. When you walk in the front door
you will see a sushi bar directly across the room. Sitting at the sushi bar can be
entertaining because you can see the chefs making all sorts of different rolls and
things. The sign in sheet is hanging on the inside of the door where you enter.
Because the restraunt is small, it can sometimes be a strugle to fing seating for
larger groups, so once in a while you will find youself waiting in a group of people
outside. On each table are two soy sauce bottles, one regular with a red cap and one
low sodium with a green cap. Next i will tell you what you when smell when you are

Designing A Product From The Ideological Incentive
Driving...
Separating a product from the ideological incentive driving the purchasing of the
product requires a critical mind that is often difficult to acquire. If a bra is bought
solely for its function, why are stores like Victoria s Secret made more available in
shopping malls, or raking in high grossing profit margins from sheer popularity? This
is because Victoria s Secret, like many other successful business enterprises, sells their
brandas a way to conduct oneself. I shop, therefore I am, in other words, buying and
wearing their underwear or lingeriegives license to be recognized by others as
existing within a certain category of person. This concept of brand identity is the
concept that Naomi Klein sharpens in her work, No Logo. A transformation
occurs where Victoria s Secret s underwear is not a product, but a way of life, an
attitude, a set of values, a look, an idea. (18). How exactly does the company place
an idea behind the bras they sell? For that answer, I turn to Jean Noel Kapferer, an
expert on brands and brand managementwho created the Brand Identity Prism . As a
management strategy, this prism guides a product from raw material to an
ideological principle, eliciting an emotional, targeted response from the consumer. In
other words, how the external qualities (company image construction) correlates with
the consumer internalization of the product (public reception of the ideology). It is
the experience that the product itself provides for the consumer that
The Parable Of The Wedding Feast
The parable of the wedding feast in Matthew takes place during the earthly ministry
of Jesus in Jerusalem. Chapter 21 begins with Jesus entry into Jerusalem in the midst
of a crowd shouting Hosanna to the Son of David. The next scene shows Jesus going
into the temple to drive out money chargers and overthrowing their business in order
to heal the blind and lame. This encounter outranges the chef priest and scribes so
after Jesusreturns to Jerusalem the next day and enters the temple, they challenge him
in verse 23 by asking, By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave
you this authority? to which Jesus responds with my answering their question with a
question. In this case, it is on the baptism of john. It is at this point
Whale Rider Essay
Unexpected Leadership The movie Whale Rider questions customs, culture, and
leadership. The story revolves around Koro, the chief of the Maori people. He
searches for a suitable new leader who has characteristics necessary to uphold a
culture. Someone strong. Someone dedicated to their culture. Someone who
perseveres through hardships. And, fundamentally, someone who is a boy.
Nobody succeeds in winning Koro s acceptance except Pikea, his granddaughter,
who fits almost all these characteristics. The only issue, though, is that she is a girl.
Still, I believe that though Pikea broke a few important rules, she is still the most
logical and appropriate heir to Koro s leadership because she holds her culture at a
high regard, she is strong and fearless, and she is persevering. Because of these
characteristics, she is the ideal leader that Koro has searched for.... Show more content

For instance, Pikea gave a speech at the Marae after winning a prize, saying ...We
can learn if knowledge is given to everyone, we can have lots of leaders and
everyone will be strong . She clearly cares a lot about her culture, since she is
giving advice to the people about how they can keep the culture alive during a time
where there is lots of assimilation and loss of culture. She cares deeply about the
Maori people, their customs, and their rules, and is willing to put her valuable
effort and time into protecting them. This is not the only time she demonstrated
her dedication. At one point, she sees a group of women smoking, and tells them
not to smoke, in order to preserve their childbearing properties . As a young girl
telling off seniors, Pikea s dedication and love for her culture is quite clear. This
scene shows that Pikea dedicates herself greatly to her culture s rules. She has high
regard for customs and rules of the Maori people, and this dedication makes her fit to

Driving While Being Drunk And Driving
While I was researching about Drinking and Driving, I found a few articles that
show the reader complete information about the risk that represent Driving under
the influence of the alcohol. Those articles discuss the results of driving while
being drunk, some of the results can be going to jail, but I believe that going to jail
is one of the softest consequences that an individual can have for drinking and
driving. I could not found a lot of information that I can use as opposition, in other
words I could not found a lot of information that supports drinking and driving. My
goal in this research paper is to convince the reader that alcohol should be sell until
a certain hour during the day, and after that certain hour every liquor store should
quit selling alcohol until the next day, also to add some sobriety checkpoints at
strategic points to control the traffic in a better way. First in my research paper I
talk about the current laws, this might help the reader to understand my goals.
After that my research paper has a paragraph dedicated to DWI and DUI, to
explain the reader what some of the consequences of drinking and driving can be.
Then I try to put some statistics about car accidents related to drunk drivers, and
how many people are been killed every year in those accidents. Then I explain one
of my goals which is sobriety checkpoints, and how that will reduce the numbers that
I showed before. After that I tried to explain myself about the restriction for
Argumentative Essay-Coal Versus Sustainable Energy
Coal Versus sustainable energy
By: Nasr Mansour
Recently, There is a lot of debate going about the use of coal in generating electricity
in Australia, and the impact of its use on the environment and the habitat around the
coal mining sites.
The on going debate is mainly the questioning of whether we keep using fossil coal
and other fossil fuel like gas and petrol to cater for our ever increasing needs of
energy or to look for more sustainable sources like solar and wind energy to meet the
continuous demand for energy necessary for our modern communities.
Before starting looking to each side of the arguments that may arise along that
debate, it might be a good idea to have a bit of historical background about fossil
coal and its alternatives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
, It is A hydrocarbon deposit, derived from the accumulated remains of ancient plants
and animals during very old ages of history, may be many millions of years which is
used as fuel. During burning this fuel to generate electricity, Carbon dioxide and other
greenhouse gases are also generated and considered by many scientists to be one of
the principal causes of global warming.
Fossil coal usually has the appearance of black or brown sedimentary rocks.
The mining of fossil coal started in Australia very early, in 1908 there were more than
1900 tons produced from the south coast of Australia and since that time, discoveries
of more coal never stopped which encouraged more European settlement to expand
through out Australia.
For over 200 years, mining of fossil coal has produced millions of tons with a big
portion of it being exported overseas which contributed significantly to the Australian
national income and the Australian economy as a whole.
The above concise introduction, which for many may seem not interesting, is
somehow inevitable to understand the reason behind the heavy dependency of
Australian economy on fossil coal both as a source of national revenue and an
abundant factor of generating
Analysis Of Jerry Sandusky Scandal
In 2011 head coach Joe Paterno of Pennsylvania State University was fired after a
scandal involving Jerry Sandusky brought to light allegations of child sexual
abuse that had been in the shadows for as many as 30 plus years without any
discipline. After Sandusky was found guilty and sentenced to 30 60 years, some
question whether this incident could have been prevented and why it was kept
secret for so many years. The Sandusky scandal is a good example of a concept
called Groupthink proposed by Irvan Janis (1982) that describes a dysfunctional
group process that can occur when group members focus on being cohesive, do not
express disagreement or think critically, and as a result, make bad decisions . In my
paper I will highlight the concepts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do believe that had college football leadership been less uniform and remembered
the fact that the lives affected by these scandals were more important than the
game of football, there may have been less victims, and the resulting consequences
would have been far less severe. The majority of historical scandals involving
college football involve paying football players, cheating, and in some cases more
severe allegations of sexual misconduct like those of Penn State and Nebraska.
Nebraska had allegations of multiple players playing watch out while another player
raped multiple victims. Many colleges have been caught in scandal only to repeat
the same scandal over and over until the NCAA drops the ball on them. Coaches are
known to have the attitude that wins are more important than anything else. Perhaps
this culture comes from the high turnover level of coaches who fail to present a
winning team. It is not only the coaches but teammates as well who feel they need to
keep quiet in difficult situations. In the NFL, other examples like Tom Brady s
deflate gate, Adrian Peterson s child abuse case, and Ray Rice s domestic violence
case, are all examples of teammates and team staff knowing about certain situations
and either not caring or pushing things under the rug only to win games. It only takes
one whistleblower to report incidents that are criminal in nature and protect innocent
victims from terrible
Lovers stopped in time, unable to proceed to the lip...
Lovers stopped in time, unable to proceed to the lip locking trophy of affection. A
simple four letter word that has changed the world by its beauty and awe. What are
these interesting pictures of words and love? The Kiss, a dramatic scene unfolding
before everyone created by Auguste Rodin, and LOVE, the simplistic sucker punch
created by Robert Indiana, are wonderful creations that have both an impact and a
meaning. These two sculptures have graced the art world with all their beauty
leaving some breathless. They mean so many different things with different
imagining, reside in separate parts of the world, but some sculptures are more well
known. In this case LOVE is more Known.

Upon conducting the survey, the main population, which was interviewed was of
Hispanic descent. According to New York City (n.d.), Inwood is made up of a
large community of Hispanics and Latinos, approximately 75% of the residents in
this area are of this ethnic background. A walking survey was conducted of the
elementary school area, which is located in a park that is surrounded by the Harlem
River and a stretch of the Harlem River drive. Visual inspection of the area revealed
that the school was covered in scaffolding and netting, due to construction. One could
clearly see dust and particles, as result of this construction. Due to the scaffolding, the
school windows were not visible. We were, therefore, unable to determine whether

If the windows were open, it would act as a source of pollution for the school age
children, as well as, accompanied field exposure from outside activities. The
elementary school is also located within a short distance to the highways, where there
are many automobiles that account for added air pollution and exposure. According to
Google Maps (n.d.), the school is approximately 113.11 ft. (34.48 m) from the

and 218th Street. If these vehicles use the Harlem River Drive as their main access
into and out of the neighborhood, this can greatly contribute to air pollution in the
surveyed area, as well as, the emissions from
Persuasive Essay On Being An Adult
When do you actually become an adult? There are legal terms that qualify someone
as an adult, but that doesn t necessarily mean that they act like one. I think being an
adult means, being able to support yourself; as in having a steady paying job, and
most importantly being accountable to yourself. Being able to make your own
decisions without asking a parentor model figure first, is an example of having an
identity status of a moratorium. One with this type of mindset as a young adult, will
weigh their options and consider their values and what they believe themselves,
whether it s their own thoughtbranched off of their parents guidance, or it is
completely their own ideaand they explore to see what their views are. On the other
hand, for some, they rely on their parents approval, they may have an idea or
opinion about a topic, but they will ask a parent or model figure in their life to seek
guidance. The young adult wants the security of having the approval of a decision
and being told what to do and pointed what direction to go towards. This is
essentially making the decision for them. This type of identity status if called
foreclosure.
At a very young age, I was given the responsibility to take care of my youngest
sister after school. I had to help her with her homework, make dinner for us both
and put her to bed some days; and on top of that do my own homework and get my
chores done. Both of my parents worked full time and I felt that I had the

Dr Mcmahon Character Analysis
A story to consider Epic needs to have a heroic character, like The history of the
Kings of Britain, demonstrated by describing each king and his adventures during
their lifetime. Indeed, most of the epic stories are realistic, but like Dr. McDonie
described in his lecture notes, the book was mostly invented. Indeed, about 99 of the
kings that seen in the story, 70 were invented by Geoffrey of Monmouth.
Additionally, the introduction of romance to the story will change the perspective of
women and question the reader, where they have been in the entire book. As a
matter of fact, I agree with my classmate Dung Dinh with his point of view, of whom
the book was written to. Considering that Britain was conquest in 1066 by the

As Mankind continues to advance it is pursuit of knowledge, it is faced with myriad
dilemmas, particularly in the cases of cloning, stem cell experimentation, and the
genetic sequencing of viruses and pathogens. The academic article Bioterrorism,
Embryonic Stem Cells, and Frankenstein written by Patrick Guinan, discusses the
morality and potential hubris of sciences continued exploration of seemingly
forbidden areas, as well as humanities identity and potential desire to achieve
knowledge to rival God. Guinan s research aims to explore, question, and ultimately
bring light to the potential issues that may arise from such pursuits. This research
raises several questions, as well as causes of concern, which will all be addressed in
this essay. The author of this article makes use of intelligent analysis, evidence from
ages both recent and ancient, and well thought out discourse, in order to cause readers
to consider just what ethics and morality is to science, as well as what it is to our
identity as humanity as a whole. It is important to understand the references to
history that the author uses, in order to properly read and understand this articles
intentions. First the author references the anthraxattack carried out by terrorists in
2001. These attacks consisted of letters with anthrax spores inside of them, which
were then mailed different news offices and the offices of two U.S. Senators. The
attacks killed five people and infected nearly 20 others. Guinan s
The Test Of Memory, Sensory, Human Emotion And
Languages
Neuropsychological Test The brain has elegant control over many many functions
of the body including the control of movement, memory, sensory, human emotion
and languages. As a result, any investigation of conduct must be customized to the
specific functions under scrutiny. Consider the examination of memory.
Individuals with harm to the transient projections regularly grumble of memory

memory for occasions, hues, names, places, and engine aptitudes, among different
classes, and every must be measured independently. It would be uncommon to be

neuropsychological test that is used is the Corsi block test. This test requires the
participant observe the researcher tap on a series of blocks, and repeat the
sequence from memory. In the text Kolb and Whishaw (2014) states: The Corsi
block tapping test requires participants to observe an experimenter tap a sequence
of blocks blocks 4 6 1 8 3, for instance. The task is to repeat the sequence correctly.
Note that the subject does not see numbers on the blocks but rather must remember
the location of the blocks tapped. This test provides the researcher with a measure of
the participants short term recall of position or block span. The test can be made
more difficult by deciding the greatest span of an individual and after that including
one. By definition, the member will fall flat on the

remains marginal.

In what ways did this activity represent a model for Rutherford s efforts to
determine the structure of the atom? What type of thinking and evidence (direct or
indirect) were necessary in order to draw conclusions in both situations? This
activity is a model for Rutherford s experiments to determine the structure of the
atom because in the activity, we rolled a marble towards a shape that we could not
see in order to determine its size, shape, and location, just as Rutherford observed
how particles bounced off of or went through a sheet of gold foil, in order to
determine the size, shape, and properties of atoms. We used the angles at which the
marble bounced off of the shape in order to determine the properties of that shape
in our activity, and in Rutherford s experiments, he observed how the particles
bounced off of or went through the gold foil, in order to determine the atom s
properties. Also, we used a piece of cardboard to cover our target because
Rutherford was not able to see the atoms that he was studying. In order to draw
conclusions in both situations, you need to determine what makes the marble or
particle roll or travel the way it does. For example, in the experiments, if the particle
went straight through the gold leaf and in our activity, if the marble rolls straight
through the cardboard, you can infer that the particles and the marble didn t hit the
target. However, if the marble or particle bounced off of the target at an angle, you
need to be able to use those angles to determine what shape and size the target is and
where it is
Disadvantages Of FAPE
Prior to 1975, students with disabilities had limited educational options, as most
children either attended a private school at the expense of their parents or did not
attend a school at all, resulting in the child remaining in the home setting (Lloyd
Llody, 2015). The desire for equal treatment and acceptance are components sought by
students with MSD, their families, and advocates within the field of special education
. Although severe cognitive deficits can impact typical awareness, some individuals
with a severe disability recognize the notion they may be viewed differently from
the general public. FAPE ensures access to learning spaces for children with MSD,
thus a free public education is provided at no cost to the family. In addition, a
continuum of service options is considered by an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
team when determining a public schooldistricts offer of FAPE, which is to be

An evaluation can identify skill deficits linked to a critical developmental area,
therefore appropriate interventions can be applied if warranted. The utilization of
multiple evaluation instruments is supported through IDEIA, as both strengths and
weaknesses can be depicted. An evaluation must be carried out prior to a child
receiving special education related services. In addition, IDEIA requires the
administration of a multifaceted evaluations with valid assessment instruments, as all
areas of suspected disability must be assessed. Cognitive functioning, developmental

areas that can be taken into account during the evaluation process (Cambron McCabe,

How To Write An Essay On The Catcher In The Rye
The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger is a critically acclaimed and highly spoke
of book. The book Catcher in the Rye is narrated by a sixteen year old boy named
Holden Caulfield . This teen adolescent is not like any other boy you will ever
find, Holden is a sixteen year old teen going through the most difficult times of
adolescence and is discovering that no one understands him. Holden is too
complex for our understanding he speaks in his own vernacular as if not one thing
or person can understand him. The story takes place mostly in New York after
Holden flunks out of his prep school, Pencey Prep . Holden travels to New York for
three days before going back to his family. In New York Holden makes many
harrowing experiences that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book shows how the misunderstanding of one struggling teen adolescent can
affect their very outlook on life. To many people Holden is negative, rude,
depressed, etc. But once you try to put yourself in his shoes you realize that
Holden is seeing how the world really is and he is showing that yes there are
negative parts in life but there are also positive parts in life as well and how he
knows why things happen for a reason from his brother Allie dying of Leukemia to
seeing his loving kid sister Phoebe. To me the book has it s rough spots and it s
great spots, I like how the book starts out in first person when Holden says, I m not
going to tell you my whole goddamn biography or anything. this gives you a quick
first look at Holden s true character and how he speaks his mind with everyone. The
book also has some bad parts such as when Holden starts to digress like when he
mentions his brother Allie, his sister Phoebe, or his brother D. B. it starts to bore me
when he goes into extraordinary detail about something that doesn t need to be
covered that much. Overall I really enjoyed the book and the story
Market Size and Beauty Health Service
MARKET SIZE OF BEAUTY AND HEALTHCARE SERVICES
Market size of beauty and healthcare industry means the total dollar amount of
potential sales to all customers within this industry. The number of buyers and sellers
in this particular market is especially important for companies that wish to launch a
new product or service, since small markets are less likely to be able to support a
high volume of goods. Large markets could bring in more competition.

Many people are spending more money on natural health and beauty products. We all
want to have long and healthy lives, but we also want to look the best we possibly
can while living those lives; and it cannot be denied that commercial products costs
big bucks. Towards this end, companies have developed thousands of natural health
and beauty products, in addition to the ones already on the market.
In an online survey of 4,000 consumers, 63% said they had done internet research for
health and beauty products. (Prospectiv, 2007) Over 7,000 female panelists were
surveyed by MR Pro about expenditure of beauty and health products. The panelists,
from the U.S., ranged in age from Under 18 to 55 and Over. Although responses
varied slightly by question, age break down of respondents was roughly as follows:
1% under 18; 20% aged 18 29; 28% aged 30 39; 44% aged 40 54; and 11% aged 55+.

Gender Roles In Oedipus The King, Mending Wall And
Birches
Question 1 The 1st person point of view narrator has been significantly used in all
the three works covered in class. These are; Oedipus the King , Mending Wall and
Birches . In all these works, the authors have used the first person point of view in
the subjective case. This was meant to relate us the readers, with the other
characters and events in the stories. The 1st person point of view was expressed in
singular pronouns such as; I, me, my, mine and myself. Alternatively, it was
expressed in plural pronouns such as; we, us, our and ourselves. By use of these
pronouns, the respective authors immersed us into their minds. Therefore, we the
readers are allowed a first hand experience of the events in the story. Question 2
The works covered; Oedipus the King and Birches are all demonstrative to the
comprehension gender and gender roles have in the society. To begin with, it has
been established by history that the distinct roles attached to gender are as a
consequence of our socialization. Generally, men have always retained an upper
hand compared to women as the society has defined this to be so. Traditionally,
access to education, socially acceptable experience and even financial power were in
favor of men such that by extension, more men ventured into literature than women.
As a result, most of these works are written by men. The different roles women and
men characters play in the stories are also largely influenced by the society s views.

The police department did a follow up with the highly detailed tip they received.
The defendants where watched closely and the officers did a follow up on the
exact activities that they received from the anonymous tip. The officers gathered all
the information they observed in doing the follow up, and received a warrant. The
warrant allowed the officers to search the home and the defendant s automobiles.
The officer s drug dogs found drugs, weapons and contraband in the defendants

Security Planning After assessing the risk invovled with the organization
infrastructure. The next step is security planning which involves developing controls
and policies with techniques to help with security. The security strategies will define
a plan for reactive and proactive security planning. The planning is developed to
protect the company assets. Reactivly planning a contingency plan to implement
just in case the orginal plan failed. The security plan will consists of security
policies of specific guidelines for areas of responsibility to planning based on steps
taken and rules to follow to implement policies. Policies define the value of the
organization. This should specify steps taken to safeguard company assets. The risk
assesement determined whether the controls and policies are implemented.
Weaknesses and vulnerabilities exist in policies becasuse of humans factor and poor
security policies. Security policies that are stringent are often bypassed by people
which creates vulnerabilities for attacks and security breaches. For example,
implementing security keypad on server room. Adminstrator may become careless
wit entering PIN number or contriting access by using items to bypass security

Many lack uninterrupted power supplies or proper environmental controls. Network
manageability is important because library has a tradition of basing operations on
small support staffs with high productivity. Justification: Library is interested in an
upgrade to its network system. Students have complained about occasional
downtime and slow response times when accessing the network, especially at peak
access times. At a minimum, Library wishes to correct these issues through an
upgrade to their system, but management is also looking to be able to improve
productivity and increase security of the confidential data sent over their network. In
addition to updating the hardware, the proposed solution outlines some changes in
the network configuration. These changes, if implemented, will provide greater
reliability and security for all users of the Library people. Along with the new
hardware, the new network configuration will open the door for library to explore
new possibilities in using the network to increase overall productivity and, in the end,
better serve the needs of their users. The solution outlined below will provide the
greatest benefit possible for student meeting all of their current needs and providing
for future expansion at the lowest cost possible. The total estimated cost for the
project is just under $75,00,000; this takes into account not only resolving
Marcus Brutus In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar

Essay On Gestational Diabetes
A study done by the Health Care Agency found that the most common prenatal
complication in women that lived in Orange County was gestational diabetes. The
stated target population is women that live in Orange County, specifically in Santa
Ana. The prevalence of gestational diabetes in Orange County was 7.1% affecting
nearly 3,000 women in 2009 (Ramos et al., 2011, 2). This data shows the prevalence
rates according to each city in Orange County Santa Ana as well as Anaheim, Garden
Grove, and Irvine made up almost half of the gestational diabetescases in 2010
(Refowitz, 2012, 8). Looking at Santa Ana specifically, the prevalence of gestational
diabetes was 7.06% with a total of 438 cases in 2010 with a total of 6,202. The stated

Additionally, those with GDM reported less social support from outside the family
(Lydon et al,. 2012). In a comparison study, Hispanic mothers had a higher
prevalence of depressive symptoms (16%) compared with non Hispanic white
mothers (7%). Specifically, Hispanic women reported 25% to 50% depression
prevalence among low income prenatal populations (Chasen Taber et al., 2010). Of
the participants in cohort study of risk factors for GDM among Hispanic Women, a
total of 33.2% were classified as having probable depression (Chasen Taber et al.,
2010). Undoubtedly, the diabetic label comes with significant psychological
complications. Accruing stigma and losing support, women are sometimes blamed
for having GDM, because they eat too much, or do not carry our their domestic
chores. In the end, psychological support from loved ones and the community is a
positive factor for management. If gestational diabetes is not properly addressed in
our community, the women with gestational diabetes will be left to feel isolated,
unsupported, scared, and abandoned (Kalra et al., 2013).
Solutions to the Problem
For those who have gestational diabetes or are newly pregnant, having a strong
support group and a care team is very crucial in preventing and reducing this disease.
Two strategies that have been found to be effective in treating GDM is to follow a
healthy diet and to fully participate in prenatal care. Nutritional therapy is a stepping
stone of having a healthy

Wharton s Allusions in The Age of Innocence to Primitive and Pagan Myths and

Her connection with wild nature (both the real, uncultivated nature and the man s
sphere in society without protection), which is a major and substantial
characteristic of Diana that shows her mystical power, is shown in the story by
the impressions she left on Archer. He thought that at a unpruned garden, the
tumbledown house, and the oak grove under which the dusk was gathering seems
to be so exactly the place in which he ought to have found Madame Olenska (103).
When he founds her alone in the publicity, he asked her But what on earth are you
doing in this wilderness (105)? Archer s mentioning of the oak grove is another
specific clue that leads to the identity of Diana, as she is actually queen of the
woods in general and also goddess of the oaks in particular (Frazer, II, 380). Ellen s
first name as the shortened version of Helen might also be an allusion to Diana,
who is also known as Helen of the Tree (Frazer, V, 292). Besides, working in
concert with May s marriage with Archer around Easter, the mutual confession of
Countess Olenska and Archer takes place in middle of August, when Diana s own
day is celebrated (Frazer, I, 12 14) (Scheick, 3). Moreover, the term flower of life
with a little bit of ambiguity and inexplicability kind of resembles the term heart of
life she used in her previous work, which refers to Diana and thus readers could
suggest that the
Dental Hygiene And Dental Prevention
Dental Hygiene When most people think of good health they think of doctors,
however dental health can be just as important. Regular dental care can help
prevent numerous other illnesses. Dental hygienists are the professionals who
teach and aid in taking care of all of your oral hygiene needs. Dental hygienists
clean teeth, examine patients for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis, and
provide other preventative dental care. ( Summary Dental Hygienists ) Dental
hygiene goes way back to the times of the Ancient Egyptians. The educational
requirements to become a dental hygienist are short. The minimum education to
become a dental hygienist is an associate s degree. The history of dental hygiene
started back many years during the Sumerian times. The earliest known writing
about tooth disease was an ancient Sumerian text that dates to about 5,000 B.C.

tooth decay, a superstition that persisted through the Middle Ages in Asia, the
Middle East, and Europe. (Byers 1) Years later, the ancient Egyptians increased
their knowledge on dental care. The Ancient Egyptians were some of the first
people to develop specialized dental care techniques. (Libal 48) Many dental

His grandfather Snell was a sever magistrate, who, for the period was not one that
favored leniency to criminals. Bryant remembered the whipping post that stood a
mile from his early home in Cummington, where he saw an eighteen year old boy
get forty lashes as punishment for theft. That incident was the last corporal
punishment inflicted by law in his area, but the post was still around for a long
time.. Magistrate Snell was a strict disciplinarian, and he and his wife lived with Dr.
Bryant and his family. Dr. Bryant was so in awe of his father in law, that William
Cullen was prevented from feeling anything like affection for him. It was an age
of repression, and of oppression, especially for children, who were seen and not

afterward to the state senate, and associated with the cultivated circles of Boston
both as legislator and physician. He was a dabbler at writing and when William
showed an early precociousness, his Father was both elated and extremely
encouraging. We have the authority of the poet himself that his

world in fantasy where they have complete control over what happens in their

Biography of Jim Morrison
Jim Morrison remains one of the most popular and influential singers and writers in
rock history; they became famous on the classic rock radio stations. To this day, he
is widely regarded as the prototypical rock star: sexy, scandalous, and mysterious.
Morrison s performances have influenced many, including Richard Ashcroft, Nick

great rock and roll artists out their like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Janice Joplin,
Keith Richards. But there was something different about Jim Morrison; his poetry was
astonishing along with his music lyrics. Morrison was that guy that would push
things to the limit, just to see what would happen. Some people saw their behavior as
the defiant, even revolutionary acts of a brilliant artist. Other people saw them to be
rude, drunken and obnoxious behavior. Ladies and Gentlemen; The Doors!!!! Jim

Liberty Bell Symbols
The United States of America has many different symbols: The Bald Eagle,
Liberty Bell, National Anthem, Uncle Sam, and the Statue of Liberty. The Bald
Eagle has been used as a symbol of governmental power since the Roman Empire. It
is a symbol of authority and statehood. The Liberty Bell represents our freedom as
a nation. When it first rang it was to summon the citizens of the city of Philadelphia
that the Declaration of Independence was to be read by Colonel John Nixon. The
National Anthem is one of the more iconic symbols of our nation, as it is sung at
every major sporting even, and it symbolizes our freedom. It symbolizes us defeating

What Did Feynman Say About How Science Works
1. What did Feynman say about how Science works?
Feynman simply explains how to find a new law in science: first we guess it, then we
compute the consequences of the guess to see if its right through experiments/nature
/observation. If it disagrees with experiment its wrong. He says that that simple
statement is the key to science and it doesn t matter who or when the guess was made.
2. How does spectroscopy tell us what Stars are made of?
When elements are heated they emit light at certain wavelengths which we perceive
as colors. Spectroscopy analyzes all the wavelengths in a particular beam of light and
this information can be used to determine what elements the source of the light
contains. So with any object that emits light, we can determine what ... Show more

We can then determine how far away the galaxyis by observing the brightness of the
stars. If a galaxy is too far away for us to distinguish individual stars, astronomers
can use SuperNovas. We know from experience how much light output a
SuperNovae emits, so we can determine how far away the galaxies are. Supernovae s
can be used to measure the distance to galaxies as far as 10 billion light years away.
5. What is the Hubble Law, or Hubble Constant?
The Hubble Constant is the unit of measurement used to describe the expansion of
the universe. The Hubble Constant states that the farther a galaxy is away from us,
the faster it is moving away from us. Hc = 42 miles/second Г· 3 million Light Years
6. How do we get the age of the universe?
We can get the age of the universe simply by reversing the equation. Light travels
incredibly fast, around 186,000 miles per second. First we need to calculate how fast
light travels in a year:
186,000 mi/sec (3600s/1hr)(24hr/1day)(365day/1year) = 5.866 x 1012
That s how far light travels in 1 lightyear, so now we multiply by 3 million:
(5.866 x 1012)(3 x 106) = 1.76 x

McCarthy started accusing if he had any reason to believe the one was a

Made him ideal for McCarthy s anti Communist Campaigns. Then in 1950 McCarthy

Now that mass chaos has been unleashed, there are some who will not put up with

trains in China, also called China Railway High speed (CRH), are the railway
services operated by China Railways which derived from the sixth national railway
speedup finished on April 18th 2007. ( China Railway High speed , Wikipedia) It
is vital to consider the background. Before 2007, green cabin trains had been used

The United States And Western Europe
Today, there are a large number of foreign people fleeing their country of origins to
arrive into first world nations such as the United States and Western Europe. The
news have been publishing a migration crisis , which is many people from the middle
east and other unstable countries e.g. Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Eritrea etc. and arriving in
western Europein almost millions each month and thousands each day. The reason
for that is because their countries of origins are not safe places live in causing their
life to be in danger. The root causes is civil war, poverty, corrupt government.
According, to the media publication about the war in Syria and across most of the
Middle East, this topic has become a trending concerning topic; ... Show more content

In coastal countries where migrants set foot there are advertisement posted telling
the people to turn back from Europe and go home. Many European nations are
doing this because they have already settled in millions of migrants and cannot settle
in anymore. This mass migration crisis all began after the uprising in Middle
Eastern countries, the civil war in Syria was the byproduct of the uprising plus with
the assistance of foreign help. However other countries where migrants are fleeing
from have a different issues causing many people to run away.
For instance the migrants that are fleeing for unstable nations are not just form
Syria but also from Iraq. In 2001 the U.S. began sending troops to Iraq to fight of
terrorists. Instead the U.S. occupation in Iraq has caused turmoil and instability.
Another country that people are fleeing form is Eritrea. This country is a small
nation ruled by President Isaias Afwerki. The president is known for murdering the
civilians, imprisoning people unjustly and living off on the citizen s money. Other
nations people are fleeing form, are countries across the Middle East and Africa. It
is these countries there is no form of freedom, peace, and prosperity. In this two
regions there is oil and mineral wealth. Unfortunately it supports corrupt officials
instead of citizens and is used as a tool for corrupt officials to stay in power.
Since the first world nation s value oil and

Toowoomba City is located 125km from Brisbane in Queensland on the Western
side of the Great Dividing Range. It consists of two main creek catchments, east
creek and west creek catchments. In January 2011 there was a main flooding event
which caused a large flood event that is described as an Inland Tsunami . Figure 1
Catchment map of Toowoomba identifying major hydraulic features. Source [1]
The factors that contributed to the major storm was:
There was an initial rainfall even of 90mm which occurred over 24 hours before
which caused the catchments to be fully saturated. As a result any major rainfall
events would be converted directly into surface water runoff
Most of the catchments depicted in Figure 1 where fully urbanised which caused
surfaces in the catchment to be impervious; that is very little runoff would infiltrate
into the ground
There were intense rainfall events that occurred over the Gowrie creek catchment;
with an event greater than a 100 year ARI storm experienced at the rainfall gauges
Due to the large intensities of rainfalls caused both East and West creeks to fill up.
Due to both creeks flowing in the same direction no drainage could occur to Gworiee
creek causing inundation shown in Appendix Figure 2 Recorded Maximum rainfall

One of the highly successful and effective campaigns has been Lighting a Billion
Lives project undertaken by NDTV and Toyota where a 24 hour non stop live
television programming across all NDTV channels are dedicated to improve the
environment. With the aim to garner public support, NDTV telecasted documentaries
on each of the mini campaigns, organized on grounds events, clean up drives and
signature campaigns. This campaign made use of different media platforms like TV,
internet, paper, mobile, radio to reach across to the widest audience possible. Apart,
the other popular way of reaching to the target audience that has been adopted is road
shows, documentaries and dramas. 3. Government A key Stake holder The
exponential growth in awareness campaigns across the country and worsening
scenario of deforestation seems to have finally woken up the government from its
slumber. To address the issue of climate change the government came out with a
national policy and launched a country wide afforestation campaign in 2007. The
government also formed a committee to look into reasons for melting of ice in the
Himalayas. Further, India has its own climate change study forum known as the
Indian Network for Climate Change Assessment (INCCA) which comprises of
scientists from various fields and institutes from around the country. The network has

Colorado Buffaloes Research Paper
This early in the football season, it s still difficult to get a clear idea about the
strength of any given team. Most of major conference teams have been playing
against lesser competition, making it precarious to pinpoint exactly where the
team sits as far as talent is concerned. It s kind of like doing a 5 Dimes review
without ever visiting the website. The Colorado Buffaloes After last year s 4 8
debacle, the Colorado Buffaloes have looked extraordinary so far this year. With a
record of 2 0, they have absolutely destroyed the competition, beating Colorado
State 44 7 and Idaho St. 56 7. In the process, they have average 587.5 YPG to rank
#9 in the nation for total offense. With that said, one has to wonder whether or not the

Michigan fans with a long memory will certainly remember how Colorado stunned
Michigan in 1994 on a Hail Mary pass that created the legend of the Miracle at
Michigan. Could revenge be a factor since this is the first meeting between these
two teams in Michigan since 1994? The Wolverines have a balanced offensive
attack led by QB Wilton Speight, who has completed 70% of his passes for 457
yards and 7 TDs while only playing 5 quarters. They also have a real nice running
back in Chris Evans, who has 147 yards rushing and 2 TDs with only 17 carries.
The defense is currently ranked #11 in the nation for scoring defense, giving up
just over 8 PPG. The Buffaloes will counter the top ranked defense in the nation,
giving up a mere 160 YPG. However, the two teams they played are among the
worst in the nation on offense. Plus, Michigan is no Idaho State. They are loaded
for bear with some of the best blue chip players in the nation. With Michigan having
home field advantage, a revenge motive and superior talent, Colorado is going to be
hard pressed to stay close enough in this game to get the chance to heave another Hail
Mary. Taking everything into consideration, the final score figures to somewhere

The American Foundation For Suicide Prevention Essay
Intro Have you ever been through a tough situation and felt like there was no
solution? Many people do and unfortunately many people also solve their solution by
ending their life. In fact, every 13 minutes, someone commits suicide in the U.S (http:
//www.save.org/). Whether your friends or acquaintances, chances are you will know
someone who has committed suicide. However, this doesn t have to be the case.
Urban Meyer, current coach of the Ohio State football team, once stated, Are you
going to be the problem or the solution? An organization known as the American
Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) has decided they will be the solution
to suicide. Depression takes a toll on 20 25% of U.S. citizens that are ages 18 and
older (http://www.save.org/). Unfortunately, a lot of these citizens don t know
how to ask for help and ultimately end their lives. However, the AFSP wants to be
the solution to not only preventing suicide from occurring, but also to helping those
dealing with mental illness. On top of that, AFSP cares about those who have
experienced a loss of a loved one from suicide and consistently helps them if
needed. Have you ever known someone who continues to de emphasize the severity
of suicide and mental illness? Well, AFSP wants to be able to help those people too
so they can recognize that suicide and mental illness is a legitimate problem. As you
can see, we don t have to live in a world where someone feels like taking their own
life would solve all
Cyber-Bullying In Australia
No one saw it coming as trend until a 17 year old Allem Halkic jumped off the West
Gate bridge in Melbourne, Victoria, to his death about 5am on February 5 2009.
Threatening text messages from a former mate weighed heavily on Allem s mind. I
ll put you in hospital, said one. Don t be surprised if you get hit some time soon, read
another. According to this resource, 463,000 Australian children were victims of
cyber bullyingin 2013, and almost three quarters in the age group between 10 and 16
years.
The survey (Telstra, Project ROCKIT, 2017) of 1000 young people aged 14 25
across few Australian schools found that 23 per cent of respondents had been
cyberbullied in the past 12 months, but only half had sought help. As per Australian...

This may be because victims are overwhelmed with the fact that the entire world
knows their embarrassment. They feel they are alone on one side and the rest of
the world is on the other side, hence they feel powerless and they feel there is no
place where they can escape hence, some Cyberbullied victims choose a path of
ending their own lives and some come out and give it a fight. Those who choose
none, become victimised forever with prolong depression, trauma and low self
esteem. In general, they develop a sense of NO TRUST within the
Main Cause Of Childhood Obesity
Childhood Obesity Childhood obesity is a disorder where a child is considerably
overweight for his or her age and height. It has become more and more common in
recent years with more than 3 million cases in the United States a year. It can also
lead to a lot of childhood health problems some of which are diabetes, high blood
pressure, and high cholesterol. Understanding the causes of childhoodobesity will
help to get it under control and lower the number of cases per year instead of adding
to it. Three major causes of childhood obesity are poor parenting when it comes to
food, kids spending too much time indoor and not getting enough exercise, and
schools making junk food readily available to children. The first main cause of
childhood obesity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schools are filled with vending machines stocked with junk food and soda. A lot of
parents make a conscious effort to get their kids to eat healthier and exercise, but
parents can t be with their kids at school where they are free to choose less healthy
alternatives. Public schools must take a big share of responsibility for the current
epidemic of childhood obesity (Schlafly). Along with vending machines filled with
less than healthy snacks, the lunches that are provided through the school are less
than nutritious. They serve a vegetable with the main lunch course, but most of the
time kids can opt out of getting it. What s the point of serving a vegetable when the
kids refuse to get it on their trays? Why not just make more nutritious lunches that
taste good? They are also cutting down on physical activity and sports. For some
kids the only exercise they get is through recess at school or through playing on the
school sports team. Play time is a very important part of learning, it s how kids
learn to work together, sharing, and teamwork. It also gives kids much needed
exercise. Schools are more concerned with standardized test scores than children
getting the exercise they need. Cutting recess short or taking it out of the
curriculum altogether in favor of more class time or more standardized tests is
doing the children of today a great disservice. Childhood obesity is a serious
problem that effects the youth of today. Improving the entire family s diet and
exercise habits is one of the best ways to achieve a healthy weight in the child. We
need to teach our kids better eating habits, get them playing outside and get them
active, and parents need to get more involved with the vending machines they are
putting in schools and the food their children are being served; or these unhealthy
habits will continue into

industry has its own typical values for profit margins and markups and they differ
from one industry to another. These values are influenced by demand, competitive
rivalry and addition of value to products and services which gives them additional
competitive advantage. This paper focuses on three industries which are the food and
beverages industry, retail goods industry and biotechnology industry which have
different values of markups and profit margins. It defines each industry and gives the
ranges of markups and profit margins which are typical for these industries. The
second part then looks at how this information on markups and profit margins can be
applied by consumers in future purchases as well as the marketing techniques that can
be instituted by the companies to match their pricing

  • 2. How Did Pocahontas Affect Society ich was considered her secret name, and Amonute, which was more public. Her early life was just the start when it came to the impact she had on society. Pocahontas became a prominent figure in the colonization process of the new world due to her civil interactions with English settlers, specifically John Smith and John Rolfe. When most people think of Pocahontas, John Smith comes to mind as well. John Smith first met Pocahontas when she was estimated to be ten or eleven years old. He, at this time period, was about twenty eight years of age. That being said, there is no evidence of any sort of romantic interaction between the two. Although the romantic factor between them is often thought of due to their portrayal in movies and other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pocahontas first met John Rolfe while staying in a Virginian settlement known as, Henricus. At this time period, the idea of intermarriage of Native Americans and English colonists was still fairly new. That being said, John Rolfe had to pledge his proposal of marriage for Pocahontas to the governor of Virginia. In this long letter to the governor, he discussed his undeniable love for Pocahontas. He also claimed that by marrying her, he would be saving her soul. Despite the fact that Rolfe s romantic feelings toward Pocahontas are quite noticeable, her feelings towards him are never actually mentioned. However, their wedding took place on April 5, 1614. After they became married, they lived on a plantation in Virginia for a couple of years where their son, Thomas, was born. The marriage of Pocahontas and John Rolfe was one of the most significant events that related to the interactions between the Native Americans and the colonists. It created feelings of peace and tranquility between the two vastly different groups of people. It also helped establish trade and commerce among them. Before the wedding occurred, the first Anglo Powhatan War was in process, and the marriage helped put an end to the fighting. Furthermore, the marriage to Rolfe converted Pocahontas to the religion of Christianity. This act of conversion was immensely important to officials back in England because it accomplished one of their primary goals of
  • 3. Full Moon Sushi Research Paper Full Moon Sushi is a local favorite of many San Clemente sushi lovers. First let me decribe what you will see in the small restraunt. When you walk in the front door you will see a sushi bar directly across the room. Sitting at the sushi bar can be entertaining because you can see the chefs making all sorts of different rolls and things. The sign in sheet is hanging on the inside of the door where you enter. Because the restraunt is small, it can sometimes be a strugle to fing seating for larger groups, so once in a while you will find youself waiting in a group of people outside. On each table are two soy sauce bottles, one regular with a red cap and one low sodium with a green cap. Next i will tell you what you when smell when you are dining
  • 4. Designing A Product From The Ideological Incentive Driving... Separating a product from the ideological incentive driving the purchasing of the product requires a critical mind that is often difficult to acquire. If a bra is bought solely for its function, why are stores like Victoria s Secret made more available in shopping malls, or raking in high grossing profit margins from sheer popularity? This is because Victoria s Secret, like many other successful business enterprises, sells their brandas a way to conduct oneself. I shop, therefore I am, in other words, buying and wearing their underwear or lingeriegives license to be recognized by others as existing within a certain category of person. This concept of brand identity is the concept that Naomi Klein sharpens in her work, No Logo. A transformation occurs where Victoria s Secret s underwear is not a product, but a way of life, an attitude, a set of values, a look, an idea. (18). How exactly does the company place an idea behind the bras they sell? For that answer, I turn to Jean Noel Kapferer, an expert on brands and brand managementwho created the Brand Identity Prism . As a management strategy, this prism guides a product from raw material to an ideological principle, eliciting an emotional, targeted response from the consumer. In other words, how the external qualities (company image construction) correlates with the consumer internalization of the product (public reception of the ideology). It is the experience that the product itself provides for the consumer that
  • 5. The Parable Of The Wedding Feast The parable of the wedding feast in Matthew takes place during the earthly ministry of Jesus in Jerusalem. Chapter 21 begins with Jesus entry into Jerusalem in the midst of a crowd shouting Hosanna to the Son of David. The next scene shows Jesus going into the temple to drive out money chargers and overthrowing their business in order to heal the blind and lame. This encounter outranges the chef priest and scribes so after Jesusreturns to Jerusalem the next day and enters the temple, they challenge him in verse 23 by asking, By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority? to which Jesus responds with my answering their question with a question. In this case, it is on the baptism of john. It is at this point
  • 6. Whale Rider Essay Unexpected Leadership The movie Whale Rider questions customs, culture, and leadership. The story revolves around Koro, the chief of the Maori people. He searches for a suitable new leader who has characteristics necessary to uphold a culture. Someone strong. Someone dedicated to their culture. Someone who perseveres through hardships. And, fundamentally, someone who is a boy. Nobody succeeds in winning Koro s acceptance except Pikea, his granddaughter, who fits almost all these characteristics. The only issue, though, is that she is a girl. Still, I believe that though Pikea broke a few important rules, she is still the most logical and appropriate heir to Koro s leadership because she holds her culture at a high regard, she is strong and fearless, and she is persevering. Because of these characteristics, she is the ideal leader that Koro has searched for.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, Pikea gave a speech at the Marae after winning a prize, saying ...We can learn if knowledge is given to everyone, we can have lots of leaders and everyone will be strong . She clearly cares a lot about her culture, since she is giving advice to the people about how they can keep the culture alive during a time where there is lots of assimilation and loss of culture. She cares deeply about the Maori people, their customs, and their rules, and is willing to put her valuable effort and time into protecting them. This is not the only time she demonstrated her dedication. At one point, she sees a group of women smoking, and tells them not to smoke, in order to preserve their childbearing properties . As a young girl telling off seniors, Pikea s dedication and love for her culture is quite clear. This scene shows that Pikea dedicates herself greatly to her culture s rules. She has high regard for customs and rules of the Maori people, and this dedication makes her fit to be
  • 7. Driving While Being Drunk And Driving While I was researching about Drinking and Driving, I found a few articles that show the reader complete information about the risk that represent Driving under the influence of the alcohol. Those articles discuss the results of driving while being drunk, some of the results can be going to jail, but I believe that going to jail is one of the softest consequences that an individual can have for drinking and driving. I could not found a lot of information that I can use as opposition, in other words I could not found a lot of information that supports drinking and driving. My goal in this research paper is to convince the reader that alcohol should be sell until a certain hour during the day, and after that certain hour every liquor store should quit selling alcohol until the next day, also to add some sobriety checkpoints at strategic points to control the traffic in a better way. First in my research paper I talk about the current laws, this might help the reader to understand my goals. After that my research paper has a paragraph dedicated to DWI and DUI, to explain the reader what some of the consequences of drinking and driving can be. Then I try to put some statistics about car accidents related to drunk drivers, and how many people are been killed every year in those accidents. Then I explain one of my goals which is sobriety checkpoints, and how that will reduce the numbers that I showed before. After that I tried to explain myself about the restriction for
  • 8. Argumentative Essay-Coal Versus Sustainable Energy Coal Versus sustainable energy By: Nasr Mansour Recently, There is a lot of debate going about the use of coal in generating electricity in Australia, and the impact of its use on the environment and the habitat around the coal mining sites. The on going debate is mainly the questioning of whether we keep using fossil coal and other fossil fuel like gas and petrol to cater for our ever increasing needs of energy or to look for more sustainable sources like solar and wind energy to meet the continuous demand for energy necessary for our modern communities. Before starting looking to each side of the arguments that may arise along that debate, it might be a good idea to have a bit of historical background about fossil coal and its alternatives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... , It is A hydrocarbon deposit, derived from the accumulated remains of ancient plants and animals during very old ages of history, may be many millions of years which is used as fuel. During burning this fuel to generate electricity, Carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases are also generated and considered by many scientists to be one of the principal causes of global warming. Fossil coal usually has the appearance of black or brown sedimentary rocks. The mining of fossil coal started in Australia very early, in 1908 there were more than 1900 tons produced from the south coast of Australia and since that time, discoveries of more coal never stopped which encouraged more European settlement to expand through out Australia. For over 200 years, mining of fossil coal has produced millions of tons with a big portion of it being exported overseas which contributed significantly to the Australian national income and the Australian economy as a whole. The above concise introduction, which for many may seem not interesting, is somehow inevitable to understand the reason behind the heavy dependency of Australian economy on fossil coal both as a source of national revenue and an abundant factor of generating
  • 9. Analysis Of Jerry Sandusky Scandal In 2011 head coach Joe Paterno of Pennsylvania State University was fired after a scandal involving Jerry Sandusky brought to light allegations of child sexual abuse that had been in the shadows for as many as 30 plus years without any discipline. After Sandusky was found guilty and sentenced to 30 60 years, some question whether this incident could have been prevented and why it was kept secret for so many years. The Sandusky scandal is a good example of a concept called Groupthink proposed by Irvan Janis (1982) that describes a dysfunctional group process that can occur when group members focus on being cohesive, do not express disagreement or think critically, and as a result, make bad decisions . In my paper I will highlight the concepts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I do believe that had college football leadership been less uniform and remembered the fact that the lives affected by these scandals were more important than the game of football, there may have been less victims, and the resulting consequences would have been far less severe. The majority of historical scandals involving college football involve paying football players, cheating, and in some cases more severe allegations of sexual misconduct like those of Penn State and Nebraska. Nebraska had allegations of multiple players playing watch out while another player raped multiple victims. Many colleges have been caught in scandal only to repeat the same scandal over and over until the NCAA drops the ball on them. Coaches are known to have the attitude that wins are more important than anything else. Perhaps this culture comes from the high turnover level of coaches who fail to present a winning team. It is not only the coaches but teammates as well who feel they need to keep quiet in difficult situations. In the NFL, other examples like Tom Brady s deflate gate, Adrian Peterson s child abuse case, and Ray Rice s domestic violence case, are all examples of teammates and team staff knowing about certain situations and either not caring or pushing things under the rug only to win games. It only takes one whistleblower to report incidents that are criminal in nature and protect innocent victims from terrible

A simple four letter word that has changed the world by its beauty and awe. What are these interesting pictures of words and love? The Kiss, a dramatic scene unfolding before everyone created by Auguste Rodin, and LOVE, the simplistic sucker punch created by Robert Indiana, are wonderful creations that have both an impact and a meaning. These two sculptures have graced the art world with all their beauty leaving some breathless. The Kiss is memorialized in the MusГ©e Rodin, a museum dedicated to the artist. Originally was a hit at its unveiling in its first exhibit in 1877 in Paris. It was originally going to be a part of another sculpture The Gates of Hell , but later it got a full sized version in 1889. It was shown at Salon de la SociГ©tГ© Nationale des Beaux Arts in 1889 for its first public appearance. One year later, it was moved to MusГ©e du Luxembourg, where it became no longer free to the public due to its almost provocative nature. According to New York City (n.d.), Inwood is made up of a large community of Hispanics and Latinos, approximately 75% of the residents in this area are of this ethnic background. A walking survey was conducted of the elementary school area, which is located in a park that is surrounded by the Harlem River and a stretch of the Harlem River drive. Visual inspection of the area revealed that the school was covered in scaffolding and netting, due to construction. One could clearly see dust and particles, as result of this construction. Due to the scaffolding, the school windows were not visible. We were, therefore, unable to determine whether the windows were open or closed during class... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the windows were open, it would act as a source of pollution for the school age children, as well as, accompanied field exposure from outside activities. The elementary school is also located within a short distance to the highways, where there are many automobiles that account for added air pollution and exposure. According to Google Maps (n.d.), the school is approximately 113.11 ft. (34.48 m) from the Harlem River Drive. A walking survey was also conducted of the area outside the studied area, where we observed a sanitation depot located on 215th Street and 10th Avenue, as well as, a bus depot, which located on 10th Avenue between 216th Street and 218th Street. If these vehicles use the Harlem River Drive as their main access into and out of the neighborhood, this can greatly contribute to air pollution in the surveyed area, as well as, the emissions from
  • 12. Persuasive Essay On Being An Adult When do you actually become an adult? There are legal terms that qualify someone as an adult, but that doesn t necessarily mean that they act like one. I think being an adult means, being able to support yourself; as in having a steady paying job, and most importantly being accountable to yourself. Being able to make your own decisions without asking a parentor model figure first, is an example of having an identity status of a moratorium. One with this type of mindset as a young adult, will weigh their options and consider their values and what they believe themselves, whether it s their own thoughtbranched off of their parents guidance, or it is completely their own ideaand they explore to see what their views are. On the other hand, for some, they rely on their parents approval, they may have an idea or opinion about a topic, but they will ask a parent or model figure in their life to seek guidance. The young adult wants the security of having the approval of a decision and being told what to do and pointed what direction to go towards. This is essentially making the decision for them. This type of identity status if called foreclosure. At a very young age, I was given the responsibility to take care of my youngest sister after school. I had to help her with her homework, make dinner for us both and put her to bed some days; and on top of that do my own homework and get my chores done. Both of my parents worked full time and I felt that I had the responsibility as a

Dr Mcmahon Character Analysis A story to consider Epic needs to have a heroic character, like The history of the Kings of Britain, demonstrated by describing each king and his adventures during their lifetime. Indeed, most of the epic stories are realistic, but like Dr. McDonie described in his lecture notes, the book was mostly invented. Indeed, about 99 of the kings that seen in the story, 70 were invented by Geoffrey of Monmouth. Additionally, the introduction of romance to the story will change the perspective of women and question the reader, where they have been in the entire book. As a matter of fact, I agree with my classmate Dung Dinh with his point of view, of whom the book was written to. Considering that Britain was conquest in 1066 by the Normans, the book

As Mankind continues to advance it is pursuit of knowledge, it is faced with myriad dilemmas, particularly in the cases of cloning, stem cell experimentation, and the genetic sequencing of viruses and pathogens. The academic article Bioterrorism, Embryonic Stem Cells, and Frankenstein written by Patrick Guinan, discusses the morality and potential hubris of sciences continued exploration of seemingly forbidden areas, as well as humanities identity and potential desire to achieve knowledge to rival God. Guinan s research aims to explore, question, and ultimately bring light to the potential issues that may arise from such pursuits. This research raises several questions, as well as causes of concern, which will all be addressed in this essay. The author of this article makes use of intelligent analysis, evidence from ages both recent and ancient, and well thought out discourse, in order to cause readers to consider just what ethics and morality is to science, as well as what it is to our identity as humanity as a whole. It is important to understand the references to history that the author uses, in order to properly read and understand this articles intentions. First the author references the anthraxattack carried out by terrorists in 2001. These attacks consisted of letters with anthrax spores inside of them, which were then mailed different news offices and the offices of two U.S. Senators. The attacks killed five people and infected nearly 20 others. Guinan s

The Test Of Memory, Sensory, Human Emotion And Languages Neuropsychological Test The brain has elegant control over many many functions of the body including the control of movement, memory, sensory, human emotion and languages. As a result, any investigation of conduct must be customized to the specific functions under scrutiny. Consider the examination of memory. Individuals with harm to the transient projections regularly grumble of memory unsettling influence. Anyhow memory is not a solitary capacity. We have memory for occasions, hues, names, places, and engine aptitudes, among different classes, and every must be measured independently. It would be uncommon to be sure for somebody to be impeded in just for ms of memory. One of the neuropsychological test that is used is the Corsi block test. This test requires the participant observe the researcher tap on a series of blocks, and repeat the sequence from memory. In the text Kolb and Whishaw (2014) states: The Corsi block tapping test requires participants to observe an experimenter tap a sequence of blocks blocks 4 6 1 8 3, for instance. The task is to repeat the sequence correctly. Note that the subject does not see numbers on the blocks but rather must remember the location of the blocks tapped. The test can be made more difficult by deciding the greatest span of an individual and after that including one. By definition, the member will fall flat on the

Or a public relations expert for that matter. You might be the most educated, the most experienced expert but there s no way to predict the exact combination of competitive, online, media, and economic environments facing a particular brand, company or author. What other medium is changing as rapidly as this one? When I help companies set goals for social media I try to get them to identify three different types of goals: 1) quantitative, 2) qualitative, and 3) a special set of goals that you might consider the equivalent of winning the social media lottery. Let s start with quantitative goals, since those

In what ways did this activity represent a model for Rutherford s efforts to determine the structure of the atom? What type of thinking and evidence (direct or indirect) were necessary in order to draw conclusions in both situations? This activity is a model for Rutherford s experiments to determine the structure of the atom because in the activity, we rolled a marble towards a shape that we could not see in order to determine its size, shape, and location, just as Rutherford observed how particles bounced off of or went through a sheet of gold foil, in order to determine the size, shape, and properties of atoms. We used the angles at which the marble bounced off of the shape in order to determine the properties of that shape in our activity, and in Rutherford s experiments, he observed how the particles bounced off of or went through the gold foil, in order to determine the atom s properties. Also, we used a piece of cardboard to cover our target because Rutherford was not able to see the atoms that he was studying. In order to draw conclusions in both situations, you need to determine what makes the marble or particle roll or travel the way it does. For example, in the experiments, if the particle went straight through the gold leaf and in our activity, if the marble rolls straight through the cardboard, you can infer that the particles and the marble didn t hit the target. However, if the marble or particle bounced off of the target at an angle, you need to be able to use those angles to determine what shape and size the target is and where it is

Disadvantages Of FAPE Prior to 1975, students with disabilities had limited educational options, as most children either attended a private school at the expense of their parents or did not attend a school at all, resulting in the child remaining in the home setting (Lloyd Llody, 2015). The desire for equal treatment and acceptance are components sought by students with MSD, their families, and advocates within the field of special education . Although severe cognitive deficits can impact typical awareness, some individuals with a severe disability recognize the notion they may be viewed differently from the general public. FAPE ensures access to learning spaces for children with MSD, thus a free public education is provided at no cost to the family. In addition, a continuum of service options is considered by an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team when determining a public schooldistricts offer of FAPE, which is to be provided in the least restrictive environment (Yell, Katsiyannis, Ryan, McDuffe Mattocks, 2008).... Traditionally, access to education, socially acceptable experience and even financial power were in favor of men such that by extension, more men ventured into literature than women. As a result, most of these works are written by men. The different roles women and men characters play in the stories are also largely influenced by the society s views. Women are portrayed

When he founds her alone in the publicity, he asked her But what on earth are you doing in this wilderness (105)?
