Exploratory Essay Sample
Crafting an exploratory essay sample can be a challenging task that demands a unique approach
to writing. Unlike more traditional essays, this type requires a deep dive into a subject without a
predetermined thesis. The process can be likened to navigating uncharted waters, as you explore
various perspectives and ideas with an open mind.
One of the difficulties lies in maintaining a sense of coherence throughout the essay. Without a
clear thesis to guide the writing, there's a risk of the essay becoming disjointed or meandering.
The challenge is to present the information in a logical and organized manner, allowing readers to
follow your exploration without feeling lost.
Furthermore, the research phase can be demanding. Finding credible sources and diverse
perspectives to support your exploration requires time and effort. It's essential to delve into a
range of viewpoints, even those that may contradict your initial thoughts, to provide a
comprehensive understanding of the topic.
The fluid nature of an exploratory essay can also make it challenging to strike the right balance
between analysis and description. Writers must resist the urge to draw premature conclusions or
take a stance, opting instead to objectively present the information and allow readers to draw
their own inferences.
In conclusion, writing an exploratory essay is a formidable task that demands a unique set of
skills. It requires the ability to navigate ambiguity, organize diverse information coherently, and
maintain objectivity throughout the exploration. However, despite the challenges, the process can
be rewarding as it encourages critical thinking and a deeper understanding of complex topics.

Relationship Between Honey And Bees
The relationship between flowers and bees is that they both benefit each other. The
benefit that the Bee has of the flower is the Bee pollinate it, which they don t do on
purpose, but has they go from flower to flower pollen falls on the flower on their way
back to the bees hive.
The flower benefits the Bee because the flower produces pollen which the Bee uses
as food.
Pollen and honey are the only food bees eat. The relationship between the bees and
flowers evolved through coВevolution when a Bee accidentally landed on a flower
and found sugar and since then bees have been relying on the flowers for food and
the flower has been relying on the
Bee to pollinate it. They have no harmful effects on each other, they help each other a

What Is The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button Essay
I chose to write a journal in Benjamin Button s words based on the original literary
text: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Details about how
his life went throughout the years are mentioned in this assignment to have a
consistent connection to the original story.
Although the condition that Mr. Button was living has a huge impact on how he
lives, how everyone around him behaves, he still loves them. He has got a positive
attitude about how his life would go on despite he is getting younger. He never
gives up on his work and life. He is the inspiration for the people who has similar

Privacy on Social Networks
Privacy on Social Networks
Tasdiq A. 11/4/2010
The privacy issues surrounding social networking sites are nothing new by any
stretch of the imagination, but it seems that many people have mismatched
expectations when it comes to privacy and social networks. Social
Network Sites (SNS) are websites that allow users to upload information to a public
profile, create a list of online friends, and browse the profiles of other users of the
SNS. The websites have membership rules and community standards. Users disclose
identity relevant information via their profile to others. This information is
referential, directly referring to a person, or attributive, describing attributes to the

to it.
Laws to minimize privacy threats
Not all threats for privacy in Social Network Sites materialize and damage users in
the same way. A risk analysis approach is needed to incorporate these insecurities
into the analysis. The experts identified multiple threats for users of Social Network
Sites. When these threats materialize, they become incidents that affect a certain
amount of people. However, not all of these incidents damage users in the same way.
The damage incurred depends on the type of threat and the perception of the user.
Laws are directed at preventing the threats from materializing. More specifically,
American tort laws create means for people to find compensations against the
damages they incurred. Experts rate to what extent the tort laws address the threats
for privacy and resulting damages they identified. The ratings of the various tort laws
are depicted in illustration below.

Skeletal Muscle Structure: skeletal muscles cells are like long fiber structures, That
contain many nuclei and are subdivided into smaller structures that are called
myofibrils . The Myofibrils are created of two kinds of myofilaments . Thin filaments
are made of two strands of the protein actin and one strand of a regulatory protein
coiled with each other. Thick filaments are staggered arrays of myosin molecules . *
Organization Units of skeletal muscle. Filaments are organized into structures called
the sarcomeres . Sarcomeres are created in the following manners: * The Z lines
are at the border of the sarcomere . They align in adjacent myofibrils . *The I bands
are areas that are near the edges of the sarcomere containing only thin filament. * The
A bands are regions where thick and thin filaments overlap each other and correspond
to the length of the thick filament.* The H zones are the areas in the center of the A
bands containing only thick filament. In vertebrates Cardiac Muscles: are only found
in the heart. Muscles cells are branched, and the junctions between the cells contain
intercalated discs that electrically connect all heart muscle cells with each other,
allowing the co ordinated actions. These cells can also create their own action
potentials. In Smooth Muscles: There are no striations and contain less myosin; the
myosin is not associated with specific actin strand.

was laughing. (46) At the beginning of To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout is terrified of
the Radley Place because she is not brave. She hears someone laughing while she
is in the Radley Place after her brother Jem rolled her in a tire their. Through more
experiences, Scout becomes caring and brave. At the beginning of the book Scout
is not very caring or brave. She is not caring because she does not think about
others feelings and how they would feel if she carried out her actions a certain
way. For example, the first summer Dill comes to visit she asks about his father, ...
I haven t got one. Is he dead? No. . . Then if he s not dead, you ve got one haven t
you? Dill blushed... (8) Scout is not being caring because she is not thinking about
Dill s feelings and how awkward it feels for him when she asks about his father.
After Dill says no, it is obvious that the conversation is taking a turn in the wrong
direction and once Dill blushes, it is obvious that he is embarrassed. Also, Scout
is not very brave at the beginning of the book because she is scared of something that
she has no reason to be scared of. For example, when they were rolling tires and Jem
pushed her into the Radley yard, I raised my head and stared at the Radley Place
steps in front of me. I froze. (42) Scout is not being brave because she is scared that
she is in the Radley Place even though she is scared of something
The Effect of Steriods in Major League Baseball Essay
Baseball is known as America s pastime and is one of the most popular, respected
sports on earth. Since the beginning of the sport, it seemingly advances with
technology every year making faster and stronger players. The use of steroids
became rampant and spread among players and has carried them away from the true
history of the game they play. Controversy still today runs around the sport today
about fines, punishments and record breaking. The past two decades of Major
League Baseballhave been tainted because of the use of performance enhancing
drugs, also known as steroids, causing the loss of many fans and the true meaning of
America s favorite sport.
In the early 80 s many professional players began to discover steroids, but Major ...

and that seemed light with talks of being banned from baseball floating between the
two parties. Major League Baseball took the right direction in the situation making
an example of this group of players and especially Rodriguez (Quinn, Fish, and
Gomez). This no tolerance policy could hopefully put a stop to the use of steroid in
this great sport and get the game back to its original form.
One of the most controversial subjects in Major League Baseball is that of hall of
fame voting. Players who have tested positive should not be eligible for the hall of
fame ballot. This is a great honor for players who are truly great and play the game
the right way. The hall of fame has no room for players who try to gain unfair
advantages through performance enhancing drugs. One of the greatest players of
all time, Pete Rose, was denied from the Baseball Hall of Fame do betting on his
games. This shows how seriously the voters take being inducted. Players who have
tested positive for steroids should be banned from the hall of fame, which is what
Major League Baseball is moving toward. Another issue is players who have broken
records and tested positive for steroids during the period they broke the record.
Although increased speed and arm strength have also been linked to the use of
steroids, home run statistics have glaringly
Comparison Between The Simpsons and Futurama Essay
Comparison Between The Simpsons and Futurama
The word genre can be used to describe several things such as books, films and
television programmes. It means the theme of the book, e.t.c. and in the case of a
film or programme means either horror, thriller, comedy, romantic. It is important that
a programme or film makes clear what genre it is. For example, a horror should make
you cower in fear and a thriller should keep you on the edge of your seat. In the
case of a comedy, which I have chosen to compare, it must make you cry with
laughter. What genre a piece of media is, also helps you to choose the things that you
like. I have chosen to compare two cartoon comedies, The Simpsons and Futurama. ...

U.S.? Hamida Ahmed ELS Center Molly Zimmerman Abstract Recently child day
care centers have become an important part in every families life. The families in
the U.S. support the need to have child daycare centers for working parents
because they understand the situation and problems they face as parents.
Therefore, the questions in this research paper are should the government provide
daycare centers for working parents in the U.S.? what are the benefits from child
day care centers?. These questions caused a huge argument between people.
Adding to that it contains the advantages and disadvantages of leaving children in
daycare centers. The research also presents the some examples about the
implementing daycare centers around the U.S. Moreover, it explains the
importance of child daycare centers to obtain of the education. Child day care
centers are places which provide facilities for working parents that take care of
their children during the day (working hours). Furthermore, child daycare centers
support families who have low income by improving their salaries. Child daycare

Marriage, By Thomas Hardy
Marriage is a topic whose perceived importance is constantly changing with the
passage of time, but marriage remains, and has remained, a heated topic of discussion
for centuries. Thomas Hardy wrote Jude the Obscure in 1896, and used it to critique
marriage, among many other things. The novel explores the implications of the state
of marriage, the foolishness of the marriage of convenience, and the contractual
nature of lovein matrimony. Thomas Hardy s novel Jude the Obscure offers a
critical portrayal of marriage, illustrating the contradictions and pitfalls of
matrimony through explorations of unison, division, and love, as well as the
misconceptions and social connotations that often contribute to unhappy couples.
The first marriage portrayed in the novel, the marriage of Jude to Arabella, is a
catastrophe; it falls apart because the couple, and in particular Arabella, treats
marriage as an end goal, not realizing the implications of living in a marriage.
Firstly, Jude has no intention of marrying Arabella until she essentially forces him to
by trickery and seduction; Arabella treats Jude, and the potential marriage to him, as
an object that must be obtained, and does not see the difficulties that arise when it
must be maintained. Arabella s desires are clearly depicted when Hardy writes she
had gained a husband; that was the thing a husband with a lot of earning power in
him... (67). Arabella s plans represent the ill conceived, yet often heard, passionate

Why Is Forensic Biology Important In Criminal
Investigation
Forensic biology is very important to many criminal investigations by being able to
use scientific evidence in entomology, odontology, anthropology, DNA testing,
serology, toxicology, microbiology, and pathology. These different subfields are to
provide an unbiased result that can identify a suspect, a victim, eliminate a suspect,
exonerate the wrongly accused, corroborate a timeline of events, establish a time and
cause of death, or even identify a weapon. Forensic biology should be applied to the
discovery of bones, decomposing corpse, sexual assault, and unusual deaths. When an
unidentified set of remains are discovered with very little evidence surrounding the
mysterious death, forensic odontology may be able to use the teeth of the... Show

If a set of bones are discovered and determined to be over 100 years old I do not
think it would be worth the taxpayer s money to invest in the attempt to identify
someone who has been deceased over 100 years. This also includes not to invest in
facial reconstruction either. It is one thing to determine the age of the bones, but
DNA and other biologic studies should be used on more current investigations of
the dead and alive. I think that sometimes it really depends on the circumstances to
determine whether to performing expensive DNA, serological, odonatological,
anthropological, and even entomological examinations is worth the time of
analysts, materials, and equipment. Right now, we have a backlog of rape kits and
DNA evidence that waits to be tested, these are the priority since we have a better
chance solving a more recent case versus something over 100 years old. I think as
time goes on the processes for analyzing DNA, etc. will become more automated,
along with the cost of the supplies to do rape kits, DNA swabs, etc. With more
competition or manufacturers to push for their forensic biology products or
equipment, cost will no longer be an issue in the

Children begin from an early point to understand that comprehension is the point of
reading. Comprehension is the intentional thinking process that occurs as we read.
Readers should be purposeful and active. They should use a wide variety of strategies,
often simultaneously, to create meaning from text. As mentioned, comprehension
strategies and explicit comprehension instruction are often omitted from reading
instruction. When students are taught a set of comprehension skills, they will be able
to become better independent readers. For students whose home language is Spanish,
small group instruction in their home language and Academic English will allow
them to transfer their comprehension skills so they can find the meaning of their
reading. The first aim of this study is to demonstrate the effectiveness of purposeful
reading comprehension instruction. The second aim of this study is to use the
comprehension strategies during English instruction and Spanish instruction so
students will be able to independently apply those meta cognition skills that will
result in improved reading comprehension
Scout As A Role Model In To Kill A Mockingbird
Scout changes many times, but her presentation of herself remains the same. At
the beginning of the novel, Scout sees herself as gamine as she plays with her
brother and never had a female figure to be a role model. By the end of the novel,
she receives a taste of the outside world and what goes on beyond her house. With
Tom Robinson and the court case, all the way to Boo Radley the monster, Scout sees
and lives everything. In the novelTo Kill A Mockingbird, Scout displays herself as
obstinate, inquisitive, and gamine. One way scout displays herself is obstinate. For
example, at the beginning of the book, Scout s teachers tell her she is not allowed to
read at home anymore with her dad. Scout is very upset when she is told that. That
day when she runs home, she tries to convince her father, Atticus, to let her not go to
school because she wants to continue reading with him every night. Another example
where Scout is obstinate in the novel is when Jem, Scout s brother, Dill, Scout s
friend, and Scout go down to the courthouse to spy on Atticus and find him
confronting a mob of men. When Scout runs to see Atticus, Jem and Dill are forced
to follow. Scout then sees a man she knows, Mr. Cunningham, she tries many times to
get his attention but he does not respond. Hey, Mr. Cunningham... Hey, Mr.
Cunningham. How s your entailment gettin along?... Don t you remember me, Mr.
Cunningham? I m Jean Louise Finch.... I go to school with Walter Scout never gives
up on trying to get Mr. Cunningham to respond until finally he does, saying, I ll tell
him you say hey, little lady, (154) Scout s portraying being obstinate on not letting it
go when she tries to get his attention. Even when Mr. Cunningham continues to
ignore her, she is very stubborn about getting his attention to say hi. As Scout begins
to see what is outside of her home, she becomes an inquisitive person. For example,
Scout sits with Atticus every night and reads the daily newspaper, unlike most other
kids her age. Scout loves reading, that is why she never wanted to stop even when her
teacher told her she had to. She learns new things every night, even if she might not
understand them at the moment, she will learn more in the future. She was very
The Body s First Line Of Defense And Protection
We have eleven body systems that work together within our bodies on a daily and
nightly bases. Starting from the outside and working inwards this paper will give you
a basic rundown of how each system works. Then talk about how that system works
with the other systems within the body. The eleven systems are; integumentary,
skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, endocrine, nervous, respiratory, lymphatic
/immune, urinary, gastrointestinal, and reproductive. The integumentary system is
the body s first line of defense and protection. This is your skin, and it is the main
part of the integumentary system, protecting you from invasions from germs,
bacteria and other horrible things no one wants to think about. The integumentary
system also regulates your bodies temperature, by making you sweat, shiver, and
also by changing the diameter of the blood vessels in our skin. Our brain receives
most of our sensory information from the outer most layers of the skin called the
epidermis. We feel heat, pain, cold, pressure, and so much more, all of this just from
the epidermis. Our bodies also have glands in the skin that help lubricate, this
waterproofs the skin, and also inhibits the unwanted growth of bacteria. Our main
components are skin, hair, sweat glands, sebaceous glands and nails. The skeletal
systemis the inner structure or support that the other systems need so they can do
their jobs. Without the skeletal system we would just be a pile of mush and the
organs would be
Discuss Athletics as a Pre-Industrial Popular Recreation...
Athletics had relative importance in pre industrial Britain mostly taking place at
traditional fairs and festivals. For example a wake was seen as a great social
occasion whereby mainly the lower class men would compete in events such as
stick fighting, running, climbing a greasy pole and wrestling. These activities were
seen as athletic events and were an opportunity for the lower class men to show off
their power and strength to the women. In addition women had the opportunity to
take part in events such as smock races. Festivals and fairs such as these would take
place on church holy days such as Easter and were seen as a chance for celebration
and enjoyment. Prime examples of Festivals such as these include the Much Wenlock

However, athletics developed dramatically as a postindustrial rational recreation.
The industrial revolution ended the traditional festivals and fairs as people moved
to bigger cities in search of jobs. Instead, professional athletes became more
popular especially in the cities and the sport modernized significantly. There were
a number of purpose build specialist tracks by the end of the 1850s, which lead to
an increase in the number of competitions that took place. These competitions
would often have extremely large amounts of spectators of up to 20,000, helped by
the improvements in transport such as the railways. Wagering of pre industrial
Britain was replaced with a more sophisticated type of gambling whereby people
would bet on the winners of each race. Athletics as a rational recreation involved
both the upper and lower classes. The upper and new middle classes were generally
amateurs and would compete for the enjoyment and ability to show off to friends
whereas the working class would become professionals and ran to make money.
However the ex university gentleman did not want to compete against professionals
and founded the Amateur Athletics Club in 1866 in order to exclude the working
class professionals from competing against them. In 1880 the Amateur Athletics
Association was formed which then recognized all areas of society, and therefore the

Society s Misfortune Our society today suffers from multiple diseases. Diseases
range from cancer, HIV, diabetes, and mental illness. What people do not usually
think about as a disease is bullying. Bullying is one of those diseases that is a major
problem is human lives. Bullying is an act that harms many people around the
world, especially here in the United States of America. Bullying can defined by
many things. It s teasing, name calling, stereotyping, cyber bullying, fighting,
exclusion, spreading rumors, public shaming, and aggression intimidation
(Strickland). According to educational reports, an average of 15% of children in
elementary school are in involved in bullying (Ross). This high of a percentage
proves that bullying is still a major problem today in American society. While the
percentage is not close to a hundred, those 15% of young children are affected
enough. Fifteen percent of young children being bullied is more than enough to
prove that bullying should be frowned upon. [Bullying] can be in person and
online. But it can often be considered a rite of passage (Strickland). Bullying causes
a variety of problems. The problems are not only in young people, but also adults
who were bullied before. To cure this epidemic, it would be beneficial to society if
society was informed about these negative effects. Bullying frequently causes the
victims to experience mental illnesses (Zielinkski).
Electronic Health Record And Emergency Room
Unconscious Essay
A woman was brought into your Emergency Room unconscious. She was the driver
of a vehicle and was alone in the car. She has no purse or identification with her.
The police were able to identify her by her license plate number. You are unable to
obtain a history of this patient because you know nothing about her. How do you
know what her allergies are or what medications she is currently taking? Thank
goodness you are able to access her Electronic Health Recordand obtain a complete
history. An Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a computerized digital chart as
opposed to a paper chart. This electronic record will contain the patient s allergies,
medications, diagnosis, labs, radiology reports and treatment plans. The Electronic
Health Record impacts the delivery of health care and specifically nursing. This is
because often time s patients are unable to be a good historian of their health
history. Family members are often times not very helpful either. The EHR makes it
possible for all disciplines regardless of location to see what the other disciplines
are doing. There are two different types of Electronic records. The Electronic Health
Record (EHR) and the Electronic Medical Record(EMR).
1.Electronic Health Record

The Use Of Mandatory Continuing Professional
Development...
The iconic journalist and one of the most trusted figures in American television,
Walter Cronkite once said that in seeking the truth, one must get to both sides of the
story [1]. It may be philosophically worded perhaps, but it is unequivocally true. As
such, the likely introduction of mandatory continuing professional development by
the PEO is a thorny topic that must be critically analyzed and scrutinized on both
ends of the spectrum. Those in support for continuing professional development argue
that practitioners get applicable training on the job and that certain concepts such as
ethics simply do not change and thus don t require a statue for mandatory continuing
development. However, others have an antipodal perspective, arguing that continuing
professional development should be mandatory to prevent loss of knowledge over
time and to allow members to keep at pace with the latest practices and procedures of
the engineeringprofession.
Perhaps the most convincing argument that those against continuing professional
development provide is that engineers get all the adequate skills training on the job.
This is most prevalent for new engineering graduates, that can spend up to two years
getting trained prior to starting the job. Take for example, Lehigh Hanson Canada
subsidiary of the building materials conglomerate, HeidelbergCement Group. New
graduates spend 24 months in a comprehensive program that provides on the job as
well as formal training [2]. To put in
Essay On Stanislavski
Constantin Stanislavski was known as a Russian direction and stage actor who had
discovered and developed a naturalistic performance technique, which is now
known as method acting. Stanislavski was interested and started to work in the
theatre business when he was only 13, and developed himself into becoming a
director (Bishop and Jones). He was born in Moscow, Russia in 1863 and by 1897 he
has already developed his own company known as the Moscow Art Theatre, where
performances used method actingand actors were allowed to express their personal
emotions into the piece. Stanislavski was known for his infamous phrases such as
stage direction , as these were the building blocks of modern opera and helped
writers such as Maksim Gorki to produce his work ( Constantin Stanislavski).
Stanislavski s goals were to make the performances on stage look more natural and
more realistic. This was done through a series of techniques called the the Method (
Constantin Stanislavski ). Some of these techniques were channeling emotional
memory, other were more about the given circumstance of the character s situation at
hand. These techniques were watched and analyzed by psychiatrists to see how the
actors would react. Some techniques such as the emotional ... Show more content on

Beautiful Boy David Sheff Analysis
Introduction In the memoir Beautiful Boy, by David Sheff, we get a glimpse of his
son s addiction to crystal meth. Sheff wrote an amazing story that illustrates how
hard it is for a parent to struggle with co dependency and the natural feelings of
wanting to protect your child. This book emphasizes how difficult it is for a parent
to stand back and let their children s life fall apart because of their addictions.
Beautiful Boy, shows us many situations that co dependents struggle with everyday
with their loved ones. Some of the themes a co dependent struggles with are the
obsession of the mind, enabling, and feelings of hopelessness.

One of the main themes of the book shows how co dependents suffer from the
obsession of the mind, guilt, and hopelessness over their addict. I thought this was a
wonderful book that showed the ugly truth of addicts and co dependents. David
discussed how hard it was for him to let go of his child and fight off the instinct to
protect him. This book could definitely be used in a therapy setting for a co
dependent especially any parents struggling with their children s addiction. It can
teach co dependents to recognize symptoms and realize how hard the journey of
co dependency is. Yet, it is possible for them to let go of their child s addiction and
start taking care of themselves. Despite feeling empathetic towards David and his
family, I found it difficult to relate to the passion David felt about feeling
responsible and guilty for his son s addiction. However, David did a great job of
discussing how difficult it is for parents to not blame themselves for how they
raised their child. The book also showed the struggle of losing hope when your
addict relapses over and over again. I found myself feeling the sadness the Sheff
family did when Nic would recover and then relapse yet again. David illustrated the
pain of losing hope very well, as well as the anxious and fear they felt when Nic was
missing or living at home. Another major part that the book talked about was how

Drug Smoking And Drug Trafficking In The World
If I have another day like I did today, I m going to scream until they take me away to

For ten years I ve stuffed circuit boards at the High Cats International Corporation
and at noon, a thousand federal agents, which included, the FBI, ICE, Homeland
Security, and local police, raided the place and arrested the owner of High Cats
and fifty high ranking employees. According to what I overheard the Federal
agents had confiscated 800 pounds of cocaine, 400 ounces of meth, 200 ounces of
heroin, 9, 00 ounces of marijuana and a shit load of prescription pills. As well as,
560 high powered rifles and over 600 thousand dollars, stuffed in paper bags. How

When I arrived home, I found a note from my wife informing me, she had cleaned

and found a park bench down by the river and spent the night.
Sometime around sunrise I felt a tug on my foot. When I opened my eyes there
stood a man about the age of my great grandfather, who resemble Gandalf the Gray

his waist, it lacked luster, his cloak appeared tattered and his walking stick was
nothing more than a broken branch from a nearby tree.
As I jumped to my feet he says, with an air of sincerity and a hint of genteelness,

He had an air about him that lighten my heart, so I say, Yes, please, of course, by all

Effects Of Immigration In Australia
Immigration in Australia
An investigation into the effect Immigration to Australia has had on Australia s
religious landscape.
Immigration has had the most dramatic effect on the current religious landscape of
Australia, leading to an increase in some groups and the decline of others. The
origins of the decline of the first doctrines that came to Australia can be traced back
to the to the relaxation of the White Australia Policy. This in turn led to an increased
population of Immigrants in Australia from countries other than Britain, Italy, Ireland
and European countries in general.
Christianity as the major religious tradition.
Christianity has been the primary religion post 1945 to today. The British who first
came to Australia and inhabited it were mainly Christians. They formed a strong
Christian base in Australia before the country decided to let more immigrants
Australia. This base of Christians was split up into the 3 different types of
Christianity. Each of the 3 groups coming from their own unique origins; Anglican
which were the British colonist, Catholic made up of Irish/Italian settlers and
Orthodox who were the Greek settlers. In the census of 1947, out of the 7.5 million
people in Australia, 88 per cent of the population, not including the Aboriginals, said
they were Christian. The other 12 per cent was mainly made up from people who
didn t respond to the question.

Representing The Zainichi
Summary Mika Ko s chapter Representing the Zainichi is about the representation
of zainichi in contemporary Japanese cinema. She discusses the change in how
they are being represented in contemporary Japanese cinema since the 90s. To look
at this change she uses two movies in particular, namely All Under the Moon and
Go. Even before the success of these two movies, Koreans popped up and were
represented in Japanese movies as early as the 1930s, mainly under an object subject
relationship: Korea being the object, and with Japan as the subject. Though it was
later on, during the 1950s and 60s that film makers shed light on the political and
social issues zainichi face in Japan. And during the 1970s zainichi are being
represented through a multitude of different genres, such as documentaries, yakuza...

Duplex Property Research Paper
Investing in Duplex Properties
Duplex properties are one of the best investments that homebuyers can make,
especially if it is a first time buy. The beauty of investing in a duplex property is that
even though you might be paying a little more to purchase this property than a single
family home, the return will be much greater.
You might be wondering how this is possible. Since a duplex has two living areas,
you can rent out one of the units while living in the other. This allows you to reduce
your payment costs and even cover your entire mortgage in some cases. Not all
duplex property investments turn out the same but if you are able to set the right
price and have long term contractual commitments, then investing in Duplex
properties is a wise financial move.
Paying Off Your... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once this is paid off, your duplex will then become a great way to profit from your
property as extra income. If you have the chance to purchase another property, then
you can double your income by renting out the second unit. The reason why this is a
smart move for first time buyers is that you will essentially be the owner of the
duplex but you will not have to pay off your own property; someone else will do it
for you. You just need to put down the initial investment.
The Problem with Investing in Duplex Properties
The problems with investing in a duplex property are rather minimal and only
become problems with your personal situation. If you will not be staying in your
duplex, you might not find this investment as worthwhile. You will have to cover any
duplex payments on top of your other living arrangements. In the case that you
cannot find two renters, it may be much more difficult to cover your costs and make
a profit. Although some duplexes can create immediate cash flows, some will take
months or years to prosper.
The Desirability of Duplex

INTRODUCTION
India is an agriculture based country since ancient time which is considered as the
backbone of our economy and the agrarian sector contributes substantially to the
GDP of India. Around seventy per cent of the Indian population and more than fifty
per cent of the total work force still depends on agriculture and allied areas for live
hood, agriculture meets the basic needs of India s growing population. Today,
agriculture has achieved commercial importance and changed from subsistence
farming to commercial farming, import oriented to export oriented sector, supply
driven technology to demand driven technology etc. New inputs and new
technologies are hitting market every day. In the developed countries, agribusiness is
defined as the total output arising from farm production and product processing at
both pre and post farm gate levels. In developing countries like India, agribusiness is
a generic term that refers to the various businesses involved in food production,
including farming and contract farming, seed supply, agrichemicals, farm machinery,
wholesale and distribution, processing, marketing, and retail sales. Agribusiness is
widely used simply as a convenient portmanteau of agriculture and business,
referring to the range of activities and disciplines encompassed by modern food
production. Hence agribusiness can be defined as science and practice of
Essay On Wan Technologies
As the world progresses technology everyday, the reliance on the Internet and its
uses become more and more necessary. Many people connect to hundreds of
applications and devices they use every single day. Behind these applications are
extremely complex networks that allow users to connect in ways that expand every
single day. To achieve this, companies must design their networks for secure access
and reliability to allow seamless access for users. On the back end these companies
must also have a secure network in place for their offices, remote workers, and any
other remote resource to access confidential materials and other sensitive matter. This
can be accomplished through a variety of WAN technologies that are used in the

With frame relay the user only has to pay for the local loop and the allotted
bandwidth they purchased. Since these loops are shared between many users the
cost is reduced. Frame Relay provides a better alternative because it only requires a
single point of access. From that point of access the Frame Relay allows the sites
to connect together. On top of the overall cost, it is also much simpler to configure
which results in less overhead yet again. The connections were simpler to establish
because Customer Service Equipment or CPE would be configured and linked to
the ISPs Frame relay switch. This allowed end user configuration management to
be simple and straightforward. Besides cost savings, Frame relay is also more
reliable and provides more bandwidth than private/leased lines. Frame relay
provides greater flexibility versus leased lines by using Virtual Circuits or VCs. As
communication is desired between locations, a connection to a Virtual Circuit is
formed. In this process each end point connection uses a Data Link Connection
Identifier or DLCI which acts as an address for the end point. Data sent through the
relay is taken from the network layer of the OSI model and is then encapsulated
through the data portion of the frame relay frame. Once this is done, the frame is
then sent to the physical layer for delivery. Within the packet there will be an address
field that includes the DLCI and checksum to show where the packet needs to go.

When Henry Ford first developed the idea of the
assembly line he was heralded as one of the most forward
thinking men of his time, and without the assembly line we
would no doubt not be as powerful a nation as we are today.
The assembly line principle as it matured in industrial
society however, proved to destroy workers creativity and
stifle the very essence of human life. Growth and change.
On an assembly line workers are degraded to automatons,
performing the same tasks over and over and over. Day in day
out, without ever having any knowledge or input into any of
the other tasks related to completion of the project. This
monotony in the workplace spills over into the daily life of
many factory workers and affects how they live their life
outside of the factory after the whistle blows as much as it
does while theyВ’re on the assembly line. This spillover was
observed by Hamper of his Grandfather. В“Straight home from

To Give Up On Words Silence In Western Apache Culture

Introduction
Keith H. Basso s ethnographic research titled, To Give up on Words: Silence in
Western Apache Culture is an investigation of situations when members of a certain
Apache community in the western United States assume the state of silence as a
form of social interaction. In this paper, I will first note details of the society under
consideration and Basso s interests in regards to the questions he is trying to answer.
I will introduce some anthropological concepts that are suitable to the discussion,

A group of gowД…Д…s then combine to form a gotД…Д…, which is described by
Basso as spatially localized clusters. In the Cibecue community, rituals and traditions
still carry great importance and play a significant role in communication, despite
intervention from Anglo missionaries to modernize the community. A major part of
Basso s interests in the Cibecue community is to study the role of silence in a
community where focused gatherings are a common mode of public communication.
He looks to examine situations where silence becomes the appropriate
communicative process and the reasons why it is considered so. Moreover, these
situations of silence only occur during a certain period or circumstance that is
defined by tradition as well as experience. Another factor in Basso s interest is to
define what human emotion determines the decision to remain silent in a particular
situation. A discussion of Basso s definition of the term situation will be provided in
the next section.
Contextual Concepts In order to completely understand the arguments put forth by
Basso in his research, it is vital to understand the concept that communication occurs
with or without the usage of speech, and in this case through silence. Although the
people engaged in this silence are not communicating directly per se, the silence is an
acknowledgement of their presence. Interpersonal communication, which occurs face
to face, employs three main technical components: a code (an
John Whiteley s The Art Of Assemblages
Artist have been making assemblages for many years. Materials and found objects
can be used by an artist as vehicles of expression. The 1961 show Art of
Assemblages responded to a time loaded with cultural transitions. In chapter two,
Whiteley talks about the artists in the show and how they experimented with found
pieces to give a new voice to seemingly unimportant and forgotten material.
Assemblage art reflects on the short lived nature of old objects. The original intent
of an object is reimagined, given new purpose and contained layers of meaning. In
chapter five, Whiteley examines the Nouveaux Realistes and how they managed to
bring art and life closer together. Their art was comparable to dada and pop art

By using a more ideological approach rather than a stylistic one, these artists also

relates to the found object. She explains how people authenticate meaning through
souvenirs. Souvenirs authenticate the past while the past gives authentication to an
entire collection. Souvenirs remind us of an experience we ve had or allow us to
imagine an experience we ve never had. Steward says that a souvenir functions
Isabel I Of Spain Research Paper
Undoubtedly the discovery of America in the hands of the Spanish navigator

Humanities are a vital part of learning, although real life interactions and situations
should also be tied into these courses of study. Humanities are defined by Miller as:
...courses in disciplines such as English, philosophy, and art history (Miller 444).
The humanities are used as basic knowledge but not as something to be learned in a
trade. Humanities help provide an appreciation for finer things in life like art and
literature. When students are being taught the humanities it should also be apparent
in the classroom how these lessons can be applied after the class is over. Livingston
makes a point that it is not what is learned in humanities rather how it helps to piece
together other subjects in different ways: Connecting the dots allows them to get a
larger picture of the education they ve been
Cold War Space Essay
Introduction
After the ending of the second World War a new conflict had commenced: the Cold
War. This ideological competition placed two superpowers against each other, the
capitalist United States and the communist Soviet Union. This signalled a
transformation of a new age. For the United States government, small increments of
legislation, military power and the implementation of a new space agency into the
political economic system were placed. Space exploration was targeted for the
political economic analysis as they were close interactions between industry,
academic circles, and government. The execution of a fruitful space program needed
huge investments in infrastructure, proficiency and the expectation of high risk. The

It was a war sustained by the political distrust between two nations with polarizing
political ideologies. American politics and society was governed by democracy,
while in the Soviet Union communism ruled the political landscape. The fear for an
all out nuclear war grew imminent and as a response, both countries devised new
ways to retaliate using nuclear weapons. Rockets were developed as a response to
this need.
Before the launch of the Soviet Sputnik satellite in 1957, the United States had
worked towards the same goal. The Eisenhower administration quietly created a
project that involved satellites to orbit around the earth for the sole purpose of
surveillance. The information collected would be used to avoid armed nuclear
conflict with the Soviet Union. Many in the military were convinced that space
could become a place of military battle. Many of these ideas were kept secret from
the public and thus the Soviet s accomplishment created the Sputnik crisis.
Ultimately Eisenhower was forced to respond with the launch of Explorer 1. By
early 1958 the administration s space advisor James Killian created new civil space
agency called the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA). Its mission
was to control non military missions for space exploration. On October 1, 1958,
NACA was disbanded, and transformed into the National Aeronautics and Space

The Culture Of The Japanese Culture
The Japanese Culture Cultural awareness is fundamental in implementing sound
communication; you must possess the ability to step back and realize the differences
in beliefs, values, and social norms amongst cultures. Different cultures have different
thought processes that cause them to react in different ways dependent upon
situation. Knowing the culturebefore you attempt to interact with a person or
persons of a foreign background will mitigate any untactful reprisals and help you
better communicate your position. Raising Cultural awareness through geography,
economy, social norms, and government to enhance our understanding of different
cultures will help us start off on a positive note and could divert us from
misunderstandings. My country of interest is Japan because this country s
background once consisted of warlords, ninjas, samurai, and emperors and has
always caught my interest; furthermore, they are one of the most advanced
countries in the terms of technology and efficiency Japan does not consist of one
single mass of land, but rather, it is made up of thousands of smaller islands. The
four main islands are Hokkaido, Shikoku, and Honshu and are the largest islands in
Japan. Considering that Japan is mainly made up of islands you would think that
transportation through all of Japan requires a ship or boat of some kind; but if you
knew the culture of Japan today, you would find that Japan is the leading country in
technology and has one of the most advanced
Four Print Magazine Advertisements
Print magazines ads can have a lot of influence in the world, like offering a new
window into a product that readers did not know before. Magazine ads offer a first
impression for some introducing a whole new world. Some present relics from an
old dying age to products that are at the front of what is going to happen and how
fast. With the business of watches dropping in favor of cell phones, Breitlingand
Rolex needed a way that they could help drum up business and revenue. Breitling
took a liking to Fast Company while Rolex tried personal luck in Fortune magazine.
Targeting the middle to high income professionals they appeal through the tones of
innovation and remembrance of old money. Watches are seen around the world as a
dying need,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Below their slogan for the ad, there is an explanation of what their watches go
through on a daily routine for the pilots and for those who use the watch daily. There
is a list of four locations around this nation where a buyer can go get their own
Breitling Watch, at one of their own boutiques. To top off the ad that oozes
authority, challenge, and excitement, the Breitling gold wings placard onto the
page followed by the main slogan, Instruments for Professionals . The watch itself,
the Super Avenger II; the black dials accented by white face plates, hints of red and
blue compliment the watch. The band, a stainless steel showing off a matte silver
color, shows a shine that is not offered by many. Watches of this caliber offer a
level of quality and expertise and they are marketed to such a level so that the
readers of Fortune Magazine can experience. The Breitling ad published in the
Fast Company is, ...the only business media brand that inspires change according
to the Fast Company Media Kit. Fast Company has an average circulation of
725,000 people every month. The readers of the magazine have an average age of
forty five and with a gender composition of 60% men and 40% women. Fast
Company is the magazine for business people who knows what they want, and so
they work to achieve that goal. Breitling s ad exalts the idea that people of the future
want to experience the

Exploratory Essay Sample. Exploratory Research Assignment Essay

  • 1. Exploratory Essay Sample Crafting an exploratory essay sample can be a challenging task that demands a unique approach to writing. Unlike more traditional essays, this type requires a deep dive into a subject without a predetermined thesis. The process can be likened to navigating uncharted waters, as you explore various perspectives and ideas with an open mind. One of the difficulties lies in maintaining a sense of coherence throughout the essay. Without a clear thesis to guide the writing, there's a risk of the essay becoming disjointed or meandering. The challenge is to present the information in a logical and organized manner, allowing readers to follow your exploration without feeling lost. Furthermore, the research phase can be demanding. Finding credible sources and diverse perspectives to support your exploration requires time and effort. It's essential to delve into a range of viewpoints, even those that may contradict your initial thoughts, to provide a comprehensive understanding of the topic. The fluid nature of an exploratory essay can also make it challenging to strike the right balance between analysis and description. Writers must resist the urge to draw premature conclusions or take a stance, opting instead to objectively present the information and allow readers to draw their own inferences. In conclusion, writing an exploratory essay is a formidable task that demands a unique set of skills. It requires the ability to navigate ambiguity, organize diverse information coherently, and maintain objectivity throughout the exploration. However, despite the challenges, the process can be rewarding as it encourages critical thinking and a deeper understanding of complex topics. For assistance with similar essays or any writing challenges, consider exploring resources like HelpWriting.net, where you can find valuable support and order custom essays tailored to your specific needs. The benefit that the Bee has of the flower is the Bee pollinate it, which they don t do on purpose, but has they go from flower to flower pollen falls on the flower on their way back to the bees hive. The flower benefits the Bee because the flower produces pollen which the Bee uses as food. Pollen and honey are the only food bees eat. The relationship between the bees and flowers evolved through coВevolution when a Bee accidentally landed on a flower and found sugar and since then bees have been relying on the flowers for food and the flower has been relying on the Bee to pollinate it. They have no harmful effects on each other, they help each other a lot and they

Privacy on Social Networks Privacy on Social Networks Tasdiq A. 11/4/2010 The privacy issues surrounding social networking sites are nothing new by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems that many people have mismatched expectations when it comes to privacy and social networks. Social Network Sites (SNS) are websites that allow users to upload information to a public profile, create a list of online friends, and browse the profiles of other users of the SNS. The websites have membership rules and community standards. Users disclose identity relevant information via their profile to others. Laws to minimize privacy threats Not all threats for privacy in Social Network Sites materialize and damage users in the same way. A risk analysis approach is needed to incorporate these insecurities into the analysis. The experts identified multiple threats for users of Social Network Sites. When these threats materialize, they become incidents that affect a certain amount of people. However, not all of these incidents damage users in the same way. The damage incurred depends on the type of threat and the perception of the user. Laws are directed at preventing the threats from materializing. More specifically, American tort laws create means for people to find compensations against the damages they incurred. Experts rate to what extent the tort laws address the threats for privacy and resulting damages they identified. The ratings of the various tort laws are depicted in illustration below. In 1986, Congress passed the Stored Communications Act as part of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act to address privacy issues attendant to the advent of the internet. SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SELETAL, CARDIAC, AND SMOOTH MUSCLE: Skeletal Muscle Structure: skeletal muscles cells are like long fiber structures, That contain many nuclei and are subdivided into smaller structures that are called myofibrils . The Myofibrils are created of two kinds of myofilaments . Thin filaments are made of two strands of the protein actin and one strand of a regulatory protein coiled with each other. Thick filaments are staggered arrays of myosin molecules . * Organization Units of skeletal muscle. Filaments are organized into structures called the sarcomeres . Sarcomeres are created in the following manners: * The Z lines are at the border of the sarcomere . They align in adjacent myofibrils . *The I bands are areas that are near the edges of the sarcomere containing only thin filament. * The A bands are regions where thick and thin filaments overlap each other and correspond to the length of the thick filament.* The H zones are the areas in the center of the A bands containing only thick filament. In vertebrates Cardiac Muscles: are only found in the heart. Muscles cells are branched, and the junctions between the cells contain intercalated discs that electrically connect all heart muscle cells with each other, allowing the co ordinated actions. These cells can also create their own action potentials. In Smooth Muscles: There are no striations and contain less myosin; the myosin is not associated with specific actin strand.

She hears someone laughing while she is in the Radley Place after her brother Jem rolled her in a tire their. Through more experiences, Scout becomes caring and brave. At the beginning of the book Scout is not very caring or brave. For example, the first summer Dill comes to visit she asks about his father, ... I haven t got one. Is he dead? No. . . Then if he s not dead, you ve got one haven t you? Dill blushed... This no tolerance policy could hopefully put a stop to the use of steroid in this great sport and get the game back to its original form. One of the most controversial subjects in Major League Baseball is that of hall of fame voting. Players who have tested positive should not be eligible for the hall of fame ballot. This is a great honor for players who are truly great and play the game the right way. The hall of fame has no room for players who try to gain unfair advantages through performance enhancing drugs. One of the greatest players of all time, Pete Rose, was denied from the Baseball Hall of Fame do betting on his games. This shows how seriously the voters take being inducted. Players who have tested positive for steroids should be banned from the hall of fame, which is what Major League Baseball is moving toward. Another issue is players who have broken records and tested positive for steroids during the period they broke the record. Although increased speed and arm strength have also been linked to the use of steroids, home run statistics have glaringly

Marriage, By Thomas Hardy Marriage is a topic whose perceived importance is constantly changing with the passage of time, but marriage remains, and has remained, a heated topic of discussion for centuries. Thomas Hardy wrote Jude the Obscure in 1896, and used it to critique marriage, among many other things. The novel explores the implications of the state of marriage, the foolishness of the marriage of convenience, and the contractual nature of lovein matrimony. Thomas Hardy s novel Jude the Obscure offers a critical portrayal of marriage, illustrating the contradictions and pitfalls of matrimony through explorations of unison, division, and love, as well as the misconceptions and social connotations that often contribute to unhappy couples. The first marriage portrayed in the novel, the marriage of Jude to Arabella, is a catastrophe; it falls apart because the couple, and in particular Arabella, treats marriage as an end goal, not realizing the implications of living in a marriage. Firstly, Jude has no intention of marrying Arabella until she essentially forces him to by trickery and seduction; Arabella treats Jude, and the potential marriage to him, as an object that must be obtained, and does not see the difficulties that arise when it must be maintained. Arabella s desires are clearly depicted when Hardy writes she had gained a husband; that was the thing a husband with a lot of earning power in him... (67). It is one thing to determine the age of the bones, but DNA and other biologic studies should be used on more current investigations of the dead and alive. I think that sometimes it really depends on the circumstances to determine whether to performing expensive DNA, serological, odonatological, anthropological, and even entomological examinations is worth the time of analysts, materials, and equipment. Right now, we have a backlog of rape kits and DNA evidence that waits to be tested, these are the priority since we have a better chance solving a more recent case versus something over 100 years old. As mentioned, comprehension strategies and explicit comprehension instruction are often omitted from reading instruction. When students are taught a set of comprehension skills, they will be able to become better independent readers. For students whose home language is Spanish, small group instruction in their home language and Academic English will allow them to transfer their comprehension skills so they can find the meaning of their reading. By the end of the novel, she receives a taste of the outside world and what goes on beyond her house. With Tom Robinson and the court case, all the way to Boo Radley the monster, Scout sees and lives everything. The eleven systems are; integumentary, skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, endocrine, nervous, respiratory, lymphatic /immune, urinary, gastrointestinal, and reproductive. The integumentary system is the body s first line of defense and protection. This is your skin, and it is the main part of the integumentary system, protecting you from invasions from germs, bacteria and other horrible things no one wants to think about. The integumentary system also regulates your bodies temperature, by making you sweat, shiver, and also by changing the diameter of the blood vessels in our skin. Our brain receives most of our sensory information from the outer most layers of the skin called the epidermis. We feel heat, pain, cold, pressure, and so much more, all of this just from the epidermis. Our bodies also have glands in the skin that help lubricate, this waterproofs the skin, and also inhibits the unwanted growth of bacteria. Our main components are skin, hair, sweat glands, sebaceous glands and nails. The skeletal systemis the inner structure or support that the other systems need so they can do their jobs. The iconic journalist and one of the most trusted figures in American television, Walter Cronkite once said that in seeking the truth, one must get to both sides of the story [1]. It may be philosophically worded perhaps, but it is unequivocally true. As such, the likely introduction of mandatory continuing professional development by the PEO is a thorny topic that must be critically analyzed and scrutinized on both ends of the spectrum. Those in support for continuing professional development argue that practitioners get applicable training on the job and that certain concepts such as ethics simply do not change and thus don t require a statue for mandatory continuing development. However, others have an antipodal perspective, arguing that continuing professional development should be mandatory to prevent loss of knowledge over time and to allow members to keep at pace with the latest practices and procedures of the engineeringprofession. Perhaps the most convincing argument that those against continuing professional development provide is that engineers get all the adequate skills training on the job. This is most prevalent for new engineering graduates, that can spend up to two years getting trained prior to starting the job. Take for example, Lehigh Hanson Canada subsidiary of the building materials conglomerate, HeidelbergCement Group. New graduates spend 24 months in a comprehensive program that provides on the job as well as formal training [2]. To put in

Immigration has had the most dramatic effect on the current religious landscape of Australia, leading to an increase in some groups and the decline of others. The origins of the decline of the first doctrines that came to Australia can be traced back to the to the relaxation of the White Australia Policy. This in turn led to an increased population of Immigrants in Australia from countries other than Britain, Italy, Ireland and European countries in general. Christianity as the major religious tradition. Christianity has been the primary religion post 1945 to today. The British who first came to Australia and inhabited it were mainly Christians. She discusses the change in how they are being represented in contemporary Japanese cinema since the 90s. To look at this change she uses two movies in particular, namely All Under the Moon and Go. Even before the success of these two movies, Koreans popped up and were represented in Japanese movies as early as the 1930s, mainly under an object subject relationship: Korea being the object, and with Japan as the subject. Though it was later on, during the 1950s and 60s that film makers shed light on the political and social issues zainichi face in Japan. Even though we have this cool main character, he does not escape the social issues zainichi face in Japanese society, a theme often found in pre All Under the Moon movies. The movie clearly shows the binarism in the Korean Japanese divide. Towards the end of the movie Sugihara, the main character, denounces this divide and the term zainichi. The beauty of investing in a duplex property is that even though you might be paying a little more to purchase this property than a single family home, the return will be much greater. You might be wondering how this is possible. Since a duplex has two living areas, you can rent out one of the units while living in the other. This allows you to reduce your payment costs and even cover your entire mortgage in some cases. If you have the chance to purchase another property, then you can double your income by renting out the second unit. The reason why this is a smart move for first time buyers is that you will essentially be the owner of the duplex but you will not have to pay off your own property; someone else will do it for you. You just need to put down the initial investment. The Problem with Investing in Duplex Properties The problems with investing in a duplex property are rather minimal and only become problems with your personal situation. If you will not be staying in your duplex, you might not find this investment as worthwhile. You will have to cover any duplex payments on top of your other living arrangements. In the case that you cannot find two renters, it may be much more difficult to cover your costs and make a profit. Although some duplexes can create immediate cash flows, some will take months or years to prosper. The Desirability of Duplex

Many people connect to hundreds of applications and devices they use every single day. Behind these applications are extremely complex networks that allow users to connect in ways that expand every single day. To achieve this, companies must design their networks for secure access and reliability to allow seamless access for users. On the back end these companies must also have a secure network in place for their offices, remote workers, and any other remote resource to access confidential materials and other sensitive matter. This can be accomplished through a variety of WAN technologies that are used in the world today.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With frame relay the user only has to pay for the local loop and the allotted bandwidth they purchased. Since these loops are shared between many users the cost is reduced. Frame Relay provides a better alternative because it only requires a single point of access. From that point of access the Frame Relay allows the sites to connect together. On top of the overall cost, it is also much simpler to configure which results in less overhead yet again. The connections were simpler to establish because Customer Service Equipment or CPE would be configured and linked to the ISPs Frame relay switch. This allowed end user configuration management to be simple and straightforward. Besides cost savings, Frame relay is also more reliable and provides more bandwidth than private/leased lines. Frame relay provides greater flexibility versus leased lines by using Virtual Circuits or VCs. As communication is desired between locations, a connection to a Virtual Circuit is formed. In this process each end point connection uses a Data Link Connection Identifier or DLCI which acts as an address for the end point. Data sent through the relay is taken from the network layer of the OSI model and is then encapsulated through the data portion of the frame relay frame. Once this is done, the frame is then sent to the physical layer for delivery. Within the packet there will be an address field that includes the DLCI and checksum to show where the packet needs to go. Another alternative to a

A major part of Basso s interests in the Cibecue community is to study the role of silence in a community where focused gatherings are a common mode of public communication. He looks to examine situations where silence becomes the appropriate communicative process and the reasons why it is considered so. Moreover, these situations of silence only occur during a certain period or circumstance that is defined by tradition as well as experience. Another factor in Basso s interest is to define what human emotion determines the decision to remain silent in a particular situation. A discussion of Basso s definition of the term situation will be provided in the next section. Contextual Concepts In order to completely understand the arguments put forth by Basso in his research, it is vital to understand the concept that communication occurs with or without the usage of speech, and in this case through silence. Although the people engaged in this silence are not communicating directly per se, the silence is an acknowledgement of their presence. Interpersonal communication, which occurs face to face, employs three main technical components: a code (an

American politics and society was governed by democracy, while in the Soviet Union communism ruled the political landscape. The fear for an all out nuclear war grew imminent and as a response, both countries devised new ways to retaliate using nuclear weapons. Rockets were developed as a response to this need. Before the launch of the Soviet Sputnik satellite in 1957, the United States had worked towards the same goal. The Eisenhower administration quietly created a project that involved satellites to orbit around the earth for the sole purpose of surveillance. The information collected would be used to avoid armed nuclear conflict with the Soviet Union. Many in the military were convinced that space could become a place of military battle. Many of these ideas were kept secret from the public and thus the Soviet s accomplishment created the Sputnik crisis. Ultimately Eisenhower was forced to respond with the launch of Explorer 1.
