College Level Essay
Crafting a college-level essay is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor that demands a blend of
critical thinking, research skills, and effective communication. The difficulty lies not only in the
articulation of ideas but also in the depth of analysis expected at this academic level. Unlike high
school essays, college-level writing requires a more sophisticated understanding of the subject
matter and an ability to engage with complex concepts.
To begin with, one must navigate through the vast sea of information available, carefully
selecting relevant sources and extracting valuable insights. The research process is time-
consuming and demands discernment to distinguish credible information from mere conjecture.
The challenge intensifies when the topic is intricate or unfamiliar, requiring an in-depth
exploration that goes beyond surface-level understanding.
Formulating a coherent thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the essay is a critical
hurdle. This involves synthesizing the gathered information into a central argument that not only
addresses the prompt but also contributes to the broader academic discourse. The thesis must be
nuanced, reflecting a deep comprehension of the subject matter and a willingness to engage with
opposing perspectives.
Once the groundwork is laid, the essay's body requires meticulous organization and logical
progression. Transitioning seamlessly between ideas while maintaining a cohesive narrative adds
another layer of complexity. Each paragraph must contribute meaningfully to the overall
argument, showcasing a mastery of the topic and an ability to synthesize information effectively.
Furthermore, the language used in a college-level essay should be precise and sophisticated,
demonstrating a command over the nuances of academic discourse. This linguistic challenge
extends to the need for proper citation and adherence to a specific style guide, adding an
additional layer of detail-oriented complexity.
In conclusion, the difficulty of writing a college-level essay is multifaceted, encompassing
research, thesis formulation, organizational prowess, and linguistic precision. It is an intellectual
journey that demands dedication, critical thinking, and a commitment to scholarly excellence.

Rodney King 1992 Summary
On March 3, 1991, Rodney King was pulled over by the Los Angeles Police, which
four police officers beat him for refusing to follow the officer s instructions
(Martin, 2005). These four individuals are Sgt. Stacey C. Koon and Officers
Laurence M. Powell, Theodore J. Briseno, and Timothy E. Wind (Martin, 2005). A
videographer was able to capture the event that was aired on the KTLA news
channel. It became a controversial issue that caused the LA Riot of 1992.
Furthermore, Rodney King s case demonstrated the challenges and consequences that
held the media, the law enforcement, and the public responsible for the LA Riot of
1992. These challenges were examined by focusing how the media chronologically
reported Rodney King s trial and the portrayal of the South Central Los Angeles
citizens. In addition, it also analyzed the four officers final verdict and how the public
responded.
First, George Holliday captured the beating of Rodney King in 1991 (Martin,
2005). He was a bystander that recorded Rodney King which he then provided the
video to the KTLA news channel. In addition, the video was an evidence of a police
misconduct. The KTLA news channel influenced the viewers to find justice in
Rodney King s case. According to Katz (2016), as a society, pop culture crime has
influenced people to perceive the stereotypes of authority versus victim. For instance,
police officers are inclined to use excessive force to an individual who had
Afrocentric African American features. These

Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet s most famous quotes. Gallaudet lived a very normal
childhood and had a very eventful adult life. Gallaudet was a very intelligent child,
which led him be granted admission to Yale University at the age of 14. After
completing college, he met a young girl named Alice Cogswell. It was Alice that
ultimately helped him change the lives of all deaf and dumb people for years to
come, by starting the first school especially for them. Gallaudet had many health
problems during his life, though it never slowed him down. He suffered from

He realized that his younger siblings would not play with her because she was
different . Gallaudet wanted to communicate with her. He wrote the word hat in
the dirt, in hopes she would understand, and she did. He was determined to find a
better way to communicate with her because writing in the dirt was not most
efficient. He met with Alice s father, Dr. Mason Cogswell, who offered to pay
Gallaudet s travel expenses to Europe in hope that he could learn a way to
communicate with Alice while he was there. While in Europe, he first lived with
the Braidwood family, who owned several deaf schools. Their style of teaching
was known as the oral way. The oral way of teaching is to teach the deaf students to
speak and read lips, but Gallaudet did not like that style. He then met Abbe Sicard,
who was the director of The Institute Royal Des Sourds Mutes in Paris, France. He
signed up to attend this school and found he loved their way of teaching, which was
the way of sign language. Unfortunately, after a year, he realized he did not have
enough money to attend any longer. He asked one of the students, Laurent Clerc, to
join him on the journey back to the United States, and Clerc agreed. Over time, Clerc
taught Gallaudet, further, how to sign, and Gallaudet taught Clerc, further, how to
speak English. In April of 1817, the first school for the deaf was opened by Gallaudet

Indian Camp Analysis
Kian Cato September 17, 2017
From fishing trip to the birth of a baby to an unexplained suicide, Nick has had a
very interesting day. Indian Camp is centered around the main character Nick who is
a young boy and his father is a doctor. From the short story Indian Camp , by Ernest
Hemingway, Nick experiences his first time seeing several things happening as
graphic as child birth with C section and suicide, things he had never seen before
and had no idea that he was about to experience that in his life. From the reading,
the young Indian seems reluctant to look at the episode head on however he was a
good help to his dad. I also observed that Nick is not a tough person, that he is
sensitive, passionate and caring. Oh, daddy can t you give her something to make her
stop screaming? I think that Nick might have been too young to be experiencing such
a grownup episode as childbirth and under the circumstance as a C section and
mortality. I also think that his father may have pushed this experience on him a
little too soon. As it turns out Nick still too young to really process the idea of
mortality and Nick s father had to explain to him a whole lot more than he
expected to do. He was looking away so as not to see what his father was doing. Nick
did not watch. His curiosity had been gone for a long time.
In the Indian Camp there was a young boy named Nick who goes on an adventure

Author: James Goodell
Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Co., 2006.
James Goodell is a long time contributing columnist for Rolling Stone Magazine and
the New York Times Magazine. Goodell s main contributions are writing about
environmental issues, such as industrial pollution, and the problem of long term
environmental sustainability. Goodell does meticulous research through interviews
with coal miners, coal industry executives, and other participants in the chain linked
process of coal production and usage. In Big Coal, the overarching problem of CO2

In Chapter 1: The Saudi Arabia of Coal, Goodell (2006) defines the coal mining
industry as a foundation for the life cycle of coal mining and production in Gillette,
Wyoming, the Saudi Arabia of coal production in the United States, 40% of
American coal is produced in Wyoming s Powder River basin (p.4).
In Chapter 2: Coal Colonies, Goodell (2006) describes the poverty, corporate
exploitation, and other difficulties of mining life under the Massey Energy
Corporation in West Virginia. These coal mining colonies show the power of
corporate dominance over miners, the local ecology, and coal production.
In Chapter 3: Dogholes and Chapter 4: The Carbon Express, Goodall (2007) defines
the dirty methods of coal mining and the environmental danger that coal mining
brings to the ecology. More so, Goodell exposes the glamorous depiction of coal
mining by corporate executives and politicians.
Section 2: The Burn
In Chapter 4: Infinite Needs, Goodell (2006) defines the historical rise of Thomas
Edison s coal powered electricity, which defined the demand for American coal
mining, production, and usage: Edison created a nation of electric junkies (p.109).
In Chapter 5: The Big Dirty, Goodell (2006) defines the rise of pollution as a
historical development throughout the late 19th century and into the 20th century.

Key Themes Of Political Power In Machiavelli s Richard II
Political power does not come from an army, or a full treasury. Instead, it comes
from the subjects, or the people. If the people like a ruler, or leader, it gives them
power to act, largely, however they please, but, if the ruler is not well liked, not
only does the ruler lose the ability to act, even within the law, but they are much
more likely to lose their throne. Throughout Richard II political staging is a means
to obtain power, both successfully, and unsuccessfully. In doing so, it reveals the
identity of the characters and how they view the world and their place in it. It also
demonstrates the problem that power presents, and how it can be hard to wear a
political mask, and retain something that is fundamentally individual. In
Machiavelli s The Prince, he outlines and ideal ruler, and how they would act, and
the best ways to seize power. One of the key themes that underlies this work, is that
power comes from the people, not divine right, or inheritance. This question of
where power comes from, is also present in Richard II, and it plays out both
literally and intellectually within the play. Power from the people, plays out
literally in the play, when Henry, works to win people over, so that he can
overthrow Richard. Later on in the play, Richard realizes that power comes from
the people and not from divine right, and realizes that he has screwed up, and lost
the bit of power that he did have. Machiavelli also discusses the importance of
appearances. For example,
Aristotle on Justice
In this paper, I shall address two central contemporary criticisms of Aristotle s
conception of justice. These criticisms of Aristotle s account of specific justice have
focused on two central problems. First, Aristotle s insistence that all specifically
unjust actions are motivated by pleonexia Pleonexia can be understood as the desire
to have more of some socially availablegood, and is usually translated as greed or
acquisitiveness.
Close . Second, Aristotle does not identify a deficient vice with respect to justice. This
violates his golden mean doctrine with respect to virtue. Without the identification of
the deficient vice with respect to justice, then justice must not be a virtue of character.
Due to considerations of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Defending one s home, fighting against invaders, when they are attacking the state
to preserve one s family and friends is an example of the application of these
qualifications on the virtue of courage. Considering how this action affects the
overall well being of others, we are considering how the action is generally just. In
sum, the distinction being made here is that the same virtue can be seen all by
itself, as a part of the character of an individual only, and where the virtue is in
relation to another person in a particular political community, and its effects on the
well being of others in that political community. We have the same state considered
from different perspectives. Aristotle says that justice is spoken of in two ways: as
lawful and as fair. I will discuss general justice first in order to distinguish it from
specific justice. Generally speaking, general justice is concerned with the common
good of the community. In the Politics, Aristotle refers to justice as being a
communal virtue. Similarly, then, we shall say that virtue has a just claim in the
dispute, since [general] justice, we say, is a communal (koinoniken) virtue, which all
the other virtues necessarily accompany (Pol.1283a36 39 trans. Reeve [modified]).
This communal or relational aspect of justice shows up both in general and specific
justice. I shall discuss the communal or

How Did Terry Fox Influence The World
Terry Fox was an athletic boy who grew up in the town Port Coquitlam in British
Columbia. At a very young age, in the year 1976, Terry was diagnosed with
osteogenic sarcoma. The cancer in the bone of his right leg was so severe it had to
be amputated above the knee. Through many trials, he eventually made a goal and
set to work raising money for cancer research. Terry died June 28, 1981 in New
Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. His life would spark hope into the lives of
many and still influences the world today.Terry Foxchanged the world by raising
millions of dollars for cancer research by running despite his own disabilities. (Terry

the day he would start. On April 12th, 1980, Terry Fox stepped outside and began
his five thousand mile run across Canada or The Marathon of Hope as it was
called. People from all over that hear about this would cheer him on from the sides
of the streets and others who couldn t see him would think about him. The hope he
gave to people was incredible. Sometimes Terry would have to skip a day due to
bad weather or couldn t do as much mileage, but he still kept going. He would have
to get up at four every morning to be out running by five. One day, Terry was on
the ThunderBay bypass running through a crowd of people cheering him on. He
wasn t feeling very well the past few days but kept going anyways. As he was
running, Terry said he felt like he was choking and he couldn t breathe, but didn t
want to stop in front of all these people. After one final mile, making a total of three

brought to Port Arthur General Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ontario. There he found out
he had tumors in both of his lungs that was no longer in remission. (Terry Fox,
Crucibles Of Leadership Summary
The article Crucibles of Leadership explains the reasons behind the success of some
leaders in comparison to others, despite having similar vision and knowledge. The
authors Warren G. Bennis and Robert J. Thomas conducted a research involving
more than 40 top business leaders, who shared their stories about facing all these
turbulent and unexpected experiences, which the authors of this article call crucibles
. The growth of real leaders is a steady process and the authors have presented it step
by step. The common aspect that Warren G. Bennis and Robert J. Thomas have found
from interviewing these business people is the fact that they all found positives from
the negative events and circumstances, learned from their mistakes and that
Attitude Towards Love in Valentine and The Flea Essay
Through Close Analysis of Language, Structure and Theme, Compare and
Contrast the Poet s Attitude Towards Love in Valentine and The Flea.
The two poems Valentine and The Flea are about the two different ways in which
the poets portray their views about love, however the poems are still linked in a few
ways. The Flea was published in the seventeenth century and was written by John
Donne . Valentine was published in 1983 and was written by Carol Ann Duffy . Both
poems are addressed to an unknown lover.
The poem Valentine is written in free verse form. Carol Ann Duffy could have used
this irregular pattern because of the irregular present that she is giving to her lover.

This could be the link between the onion and love that is being developed in the
poem. This is also one of only four cases of enjambment in this poem. The writer
obviously wants the lines to flow into each other here maybe so it is like when tears
are flowing down your face.
Duffy then explores the idea of truth behind the relationship, quite the opposite of
what John Donne believes of in his relationship.
I am trying to be truthful.
The writer obviously wants her lover to know the real meaning of love, not his
stereotypical view. Duffy also wants to emphasise the fact of how irregular her
present is and it should be thought of.
Not a cute card or kissogram.
She doesn t want him to receive the normal presents off her; she knows that he
would just be expecting that and he wouldn t even think about the meaning of the
normal presents. She wants to shock her lover with her present to make sure that the
he understands the meaning of why she is giving him a present for Valentine s Day
to offer a gift to your true love and emphasise how much you care about them.
Duffy then repeats the first line of her poem again in the middle of the poem. I give
you an onion.
She is repeating the line to emphasise the meaning of the present, or it could be to
start a different part of the poem, a different attitude towards love. Then there is a
contrast with a line in the first stanza.

Daytime Talk TV is Immoral
Today s society has become a visually based culture and, as a result, people learn
and act from what they see. With the advent of television, many programs have been
aired ranging from news programs to sitcoms and from game shows to talk shows,
but talk shows, today, have the most effect on the public. Daily, viewersturn on their

As children, they are in the stage of life when they are learning the most and
absorbing everything they see, and it is natural for most of them to repeat what they
see. Adolescent years are very crucial for learning how to behave and learning right
from wrong, but talk shows are destroying children s morals and their outlook on
society. Therefore, there is no doubt that they are having a negative effecton our
future, the children.
In addition to affecting children, talk shows are affecting adults as well. Adults
are observing these programs as much as children are, if not more. Our society is
continually affected by what is seen, and consequently, there have even been cases
of violence as a result of watching one of these talk shows. For instance, in 2000, a
man by the name of Jonathan Schmitz murdered a gay man, Scott Amedure, after
watching an episode of Jenny Jones in which Amedure admitted that Schmitz was
his secret crush according to Ellen Willis (34). Most likely, that tragedy would not
have occurred had it not been for a talk show like Jenny Jones that presents immoral
topics for millions of viewers to see. This just further proves that talk shows have a
negative effect on their viewers.
Moreover, the viewers of the talk shows are not only affected that way, but some
may also relate to the talk shows and in effect, they believe there is a direct
connection between the fictional world young people are

Marlowe used himself and own personal experiences to implement in his

Security Concerns for Cloud Based services In this burgeoning world of cyber
criminals, it is imperative that companies address cloud computing security with
their providers as they entrust their data to them. One of the biggest concerns with
using cloud computing is the threat of a data breach or data loss. How do businesses
combat that threat? According to Modis.com. (n.d), Reputable cloud providers will
offer security solutions like firewalls, secure login and data transfer (p. 7). Though
some companies will be worried about the cost of paying for enhanced security, it is
imperative that this issue is incorporated into the cloud computing agreements. By
addressing this issue upfront, the costs can be mitigated to a certain extent. A simple
way to provide another layer of security is to require stronger password protocol of all
users. Another security issue conducting penetration tests (pentest) for evaluating the
security of the cloud computing system. As stated in Gwu.edu. (2010), We must be
able to
conduct a pentest in a cloud computing environment without triggering a response
from the provider or causing loss of service for our company as well and any of the
multitenant
customers (p.6). It is imperative that cloud computing vendors have the pentest as a
part of their tool box to offer perspective clients. According to gwu.edu. (2010),
Amazon has published a policy that includes a procedure for customers to conduct a

Television s Impact on the Teenagers of Today
The way teens have been portrayed on television over the years has evolved quite
drastically. Now more than ever tv shows have catered towards this adolescent age
group. Young people consume hours of television shows over the week, and it s what
they are consuming that can be the cause of concern. How teenagers are represented
on television has an impact on the very teens who are watching these programs.

Its influence on the masses was still something that was highly underestimated.
There is no doubt that television has played a large role in influencing the teenagers
of today. When television had first started in the United States there were only 3
channels available NBC, CBS and ABC. Any opportunity to show content targeted
toward teens was not really available at the time. When FOX came on the scene in
the 1980 s, they were able to cater to the younger generation with shows like BET
and MTV (Jamieson and Romer 18). Music was a key entry point; combined with
television, it became popular among teens. And as corporations realized the spending
power of teenagers, and the potential influence they could have on them, they started
targeting this new audience.
According to the Teen Health and the Media web site, American teenagers on
average spend about 20 hours a week watching television. This means that by the
age of 18 they will have been exposed to over 350,000 advertisements on television
and 100,000 of that would include alcohol ads. This means that teens are using a
third of their day to watch TV. (Teen Health and the Media). A great example of the
effectiveness of advertising is when Victor Strasburger from the American Academy
of Pediatrics shared a research study about the effects of advertising. A group of
children from the ages of 10 to 12 could recognize a Budweiser frog just as easily as
they could recognize the bugs bunny character
Similarities Between East Of Eden And Adam Trask
East of Eden is a novel whose characters are based off the Book of Genesis, and
whose actions derive from the notion of timshel. Adam Trask is one of the
protagonists in the plot and most embodies the notion of timshel. He always seems
to have to final choice between good or bad, but his definitive choice is most
influenced by the people surrounding him. Some examples include, Cyrus (his
father), Cathy (his wife), Lee (his servant), and Samuel (his friend). Although the
characters in East of Eden are not exactly the same as the ones from the Book of
Genesis, they are relatively similar. Adam Trask most represents Able and Aron from
the Book of Genesis. Adam s goodhearted, trusting, and innocent nature as a child
mimics Able. During his adulthood, Adam Trask is an almost perfect... Show more

Adam and Able were unwillingly favored by their fathers, which as a result, caused
jealousy to enter their brother s minds. When Cyrus (Adam s father) said, Call it

favoritism nor did he want his brothers jealousy, but he couldn t do anything about
it. As a result of the jealousy within his brother, Charles, he had to take Adam out
so he could get some his father s love. In the Book of Genesis, Cain murdered Able
over the same type of jealousy that Charles had on his brother. Instead of both of
them being mad at their fathers they choose to be jealous towards Adam and Able.
This is the major difference with Adam and Able, Cain kills Able, but Charles did not
slay Adam. The root cause of the incident was the unfair distribution of

Reflection Of A Reflection On Teaching
Reflection for Co Teaching This semester was my first time working with 3rd graders
at an IB school. This type of school is structured much differently than all the other
elementary schools in Jefferson County. The curriculum at this school is a concept
driven curriculum that helps students construct meaning through improved critical
thinking skills. This means that the lessons taught are inquiry based. Inquiry based
instruction is centered on posing questions and establishing facts through exploration
rather than simply presenting the facts to the students. With that being said, my
cooperating teacher (CT) planned a very interactive Science lesson to get his students
engaged in learningand doing Science. My CT told me that he did not have a
specific book to teach with, yet he had essential questions and standards that
needed to be met in Science. The lesson was centered on the 3rd grade Colorado
academic standard 2, concept 2, which pertained to the concept of the duration and
timing of life cycle events in different organisms. The essential question of how
humans can have a negative or positive impact on the life cycle of animals and
insects was also a guiding factor in the lesson. My CT and one of his co workers that
taught 3rd grade came up with this lesson with the help of the ButterflyPavilion, who
provided specimens, exploration, and butterfly holder nets for the classroom.
This lesson was a great activity that captivated an idea learned in my college class that

and a better understanding the world. The theme of exploration plays a major role

One of the ways that Dillard explored the world around her was by roaming Frick
Park. As she roamed Frick Park, she was able to see cardinals, rows, robins, juncos,
chipmunks, squirrels and pedigreed dachshunds (Dillard 43). This helped her to
expand the world around her because she began to see new things that she wouldn t
be able to see if she just stayed in her house like her parents or sister. Dillard also
used detective work as a way to explore and expand her thoughts of the world. She
would hang around the Evergreen CafГ© and find people whom she wanted to

of people and broaden her perspective of what she thought of others. As Dillard is
exploring she finds a dime that gets her thinking about treasures. Treasure was
something you dug up pit of the dirt in a chaotic, half forbidden, forsaken place far
removed from the ordinary comings and goings of people who earned salaries in
the light (Dillard 41). At this point Dillard realized that in order to find new and
meaningful things she could not just stick to what she was used to. She had to

Application And Web Application For Nutritionists And...
INTRODUCTION
1.1Introduction:
Android application and web application for nutritionists and dietitians is a project
designed and developed in a way that all the dietitians and nutritionists can use this
application at their work as they do it on a regular day to day basis because the
design of the application is in such a way that we have digitalized or changed their
regular work flow process in to this application and this application is not only
supposed for the registered dietitians or nutritionists but can also be used by the intern
students who are taking the dietitians course.
1.2Motivation:
The main motivation for the project comes from a lack of usage of mobile
technology in the field of dietetics and nutrition. The dietitians have a hard time in
calculating the energy, fluid and protein needs for their patients, all the dietitians use
a book called Pocket Resource for Nutrition Assessment which is published by
Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Dietitians use this pocket resource for doing all
the energy, fluid and protein calculations for their patients by hand and also dietitians
need to memorize all the formulas for the corresponding calculations to do it by
hand. So after a thorough research and a few meetings with Dr. Elaine Molaison, a
Registered Dietitian and professor in Department of Nutrition and Food Systems, The
University of Southern Mississippi, and some other professors and dietitians, we
came up with an idea of creating a mobile
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Research Paper
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome When it comes to the reproductive system there are
a book full, from A to Z of diseases that affect both men and women. Some
genetically inherited, and others that are sexual transmitted, and of course those
that are so rare you can see the name of them and ask yourself, Wait, what? because
of the more then difficult spelling of the names of the disease and the areas that the
diseases affect or their symptoms, they can be quite a shock to some. Now, there
are a few diseases of the reproductive system that are also very common, but are
found in woman only. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is one of those diseases.
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome also known as PCOS affatreround 5 million women
in the United States alone; among those women affected are girls as young as 11
years old. This disease primarily affects women who are in their childbearing ages.
PCOS, although is being researched, is still unknown on how something like this can

Hominin Migration Report
With knowing that this creature was so clearly not a H. sapiens, it leads us into the
bigger question of how did this hominin become dwarfed when compared to other
late Pleistocene hominins. This brings in the question how we should approach
assigning taxonomy. Early on, there was argument for creating a whole genus to
place H. floresiensis because the explanation for their existence was complicated.
(Aiello 2010) H. floresiensis s height and body portion of long arms and short legs
appear to more similar to that of the much older Australopithecines. But as know from
our current understanding of the early hominin migration, Australopithecines have
never made it out of Africa. (Lewin 2004) The island of Flores is a long from Africa,

floresiensis have also been found in Liang Bua Cave. (Morwood 2005) If we
follow our conclusions an H. erectus origin, these older tools were likely from
early population of H. erectus. In this way, we can conclude that there was indeed
belonged to a population of earlier hominins present before H. floresiensis. Despite
all this evidence for a H. erectus origin, there an issue of the details which H.
erectus population. H. erectus is wide spread species with subspecies. The subject
of the H. floresiensis debate is pinning one of these subspecies as the origin
species. In doing this, we hope create a better understand for H. floresiensis s
relation for the other members of the Homo genus. But if we truly look at the
genus of Homo critically, it doesn t take much for us to see that the genus itself is
yet to perfectly defined. It the recent times, there has been a lot of changes to ideas
we use to define a member of the genus Homo. There has been debate on where to
change the name of our H. sapiens. The idea would be to define the current modern
day human as a subspecies. For now, Homo appears to be an umbrella term with
species under it that serve as their umbrella terms. This brings to the question of
whether H. floresiensis is subspecies of H. erectus due the fact it displays similar
morphologies. H. floresiensis could easily bear the name Homo erectus floresiensis,
but this is issue of debate. Because of the nature
Utilitarianism And Kantianism
Instagram s move to make a profit from advertising by changing the terms of service
failed to meet the company s objective and destroyed the trust of the users, the most
significant players for the success of the entity. Changing the privacy policy and term
of use without informing the 12 million daily users was way beyond an ethical thing
to do. To illustrate the argument, the act will be examined using two ethical theories
namely, Utilitarianism and Kantianism. Before tackling on these theories, we must
understand that Ethicsare the moral principles where we base our assessment for
what is right or wrong (Birt et. al. 2014) and how such action may affect others (Zhu,
May Avolio, 2010). The belief that such action is morally right or... Show more

The philosophy revolves on two essential idea that a.) it is a duty to treat humanity
with fairness, dignity and respect (Hill, 2007); and b.) it is the motive of the person
that makes the action right or wrong (Birt et. al., 2014) . Kantianism is espoused by
Immanuel Kant which simply emphasized that people should do what is right
because it is one s duty to deal with humanity as you handle yourself. Unlike
utilitarianism which is concerned with the outcomes of the action, Kant
emphasized that one need not necessarily think about the consequence of the
action as long as the act itself is morally good (Shaw, Barry, Issa Catley, 2013). He
further described that an action can be interpreted as morally right if it is made
out of good will and respect and not taking advantage of the situation (Birt et. al.,
2010). In an organization, people make decisions. The person who makes a
decision or action should be prudent enough to identify that such action is
universally right. And so he is acting wilfully out of good intentions. As with
Instagram, the information for the change was not intended for the public to have a
choice and the change was made when 12 million users are already using their
applications apps . This may be understood that Instagram did not respect their users
because they were not given the opportunity to make a choice as to whether they
will agree or not on sharing their personal information (profile and photos). The
purpose of the decision was for the good of Instagram and the users in the company s
perspective. They have to take advantage of the marketability of Instagram which was
instigated with the growing number of users and the merger with bigger social media
outfit. The idea that many advertisers are now willing to invest with the entity made
them choose to change the terms and made the users information available for

Cultural Differences in India
India is a unique country. Home to close to a billion people, it boasts a rich cultural
history spanning over 4 millennia. India s vast geographical coverage features all
kinds of different terrain; from the cold, magnificent peaks and valleys of Kashmir to
the hot, barren lands of Jacobabad. With such terrain comes a culture so vast that it is
almost impossible to define. India possesses an array of different races, languages,
religions and customs (Bryman Hardy, 2009).
It is said that almost all of the world s most popular religions are found in India,
which can be further separated into different sects. Across the country, almost 400
different languages are spoken including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Urdu, Kashmiri,
Marathi, Sanskrit and English. It should be worth noting here that a vast majority of
these languages also have their own scripts and literature. In terms of racial diversity,
again India claims to be home to many races such as the Mongolians, Arabs, Afghans,
Sakas and the Kushanas as well as the various different jungle tribes spread across the
country. Thus, communicating across these cultures can always lead to
misunderstandings and friction between different groups.
One must realize that where all these different races, religions, languages and
customs must co exist, there shall always be cross cultural disputes, territory wars
and a battle for
Apple Inc. Essay
Apple Inc.
I am going to start off by going into a little bit of history about apple and how it has
grown over the past 10 years or so, I am also going to talk about some new products
from Apple such as Apple TV and the iphone, as well as the name change, and the
new direction they have chosen to take with their marketing and what it has helped
them accomplish over the past couple of years.
Apple Inc. has come a long way from what it used to be. The computer market has
always been a PC based system being mainly pushed by the Microsoft software
platform. Apple Computers has been struggling to make it in the computer market for
a long time, going up against their competitor Microsoft who had a monopoly on the

This was just the start for Apple s new ideas and goals to penetrate the consumer
market.
All throughout the early 21st century the iPod has been the sought after mp3 product.
Everybody had to have one, and if you did, you were pretty cool. In 2004 Apple
joined up with U2 to help promote their new 20 gig ipod release. This was a great
example of apple s new marketing plan, going for the entertainment and media side of
the market.
Another side of Apple that really made the music industry happy was then they
started to sell songs on itunes for $1 a song. Music Pirating was a huge issue
throughout the early 21st century and Apple was on the for front of helping fix that.
In 2007 Apple introduced the iPhone and Apple TV, two revolutionary products that
is changing Television as well as the cell phone market as we know it.
Apple TV is setting a new standard for the viewing of media, it gives the consumer
the capability to wirelessly connect their computer to their television to stream
virtually any video, song or website on the internet through their TV. This is the
new are of wave of media technology allowing people to watch whatever they want
whenever they want without any regular scheduled programming. This is also a
major bonus for television marketers since they are able to tell exactly how many
views each show or video is being watched.
Onto the iPhone. When the iphone hit the market it was a must have item.
Everybody wanted one!
A Red Line
Redlining is a red line that are drawn on maps to designate neighborhoods too risky
for loans; regardless of their credit says. White flight is when the white people
would moved out of their neighborhood because blacks were moving in their
suburbs which causes riots. Many of the realtors would not do businesses with
blacks and many would have to pay a fee for it. FHA and VA made programs for
the banks to follow making sure they don t change or mixed racially
neighborhoods. The FHA and VA only insured certain areas of neighborhoods.
They also drew up restrictive sales barriers to nonwhites before the applied for
FHA insured financing. Political party machines helped the poor and new
immigrants by help creating a safe environment for their culture to hang out like
bars, parks, and special events to enjoy. They also do great gesture to the
immigrants and expect favors in return like campaign events at their bar or hotel.
Two examples, Judd and Swanstorm present to bust this myths were the machines
were selfish. They did not support any one that get in the way of immigrants votes.
They did not like reform even if it helps the working class. Another one was the
Progressive era where there was a generation of reforms that helped improve the
immigrants life form and work. They end up supporting both the working class
immigrants and middle class voters. Urban Renewal helped the cities come out of
unsafe and unsanitary conditions that had thousands working immigrants packed
Chronological Accuracy Of The Return Of Martin Guerre
The chronological accuracy that The Return of Martin Guerre film portrays can

The first category is building a secure network. There are necessary steps in how a

Target, Neiman Marcus, and even eBay have been victims of breaches involving

entire dossiers of individuals who have done nothing more than purchase something

Every company is responsible for securing the contents of their databases and

but an all of the above method is necessary to ensure consumer privacy and
confidence.
There are six categories in which a company must be compliant in order to protect

the others useless. In no particular order, these categories are Securing the Network,
Data Protection, Vulnerability Management, Access Control, Regular Monitoring and

In Spite Of Everything I Really Good At Heart
Anne Frank was a remarkable young women she was only 13 years old the time

Redskin Persuasions
For football fans like myself and for anyone working in the sports world, the
Washington Redskins franchise has become heavily scrutinized for their team
trademark name. The Washington Redskins are one of the oldest members since the
start of the National Football League. Fans from all across the United States and the
world adore the Redskins. However, in recent years, the term Redskin has been
viewed as a mockery to the native american community.
As a native american myself, I can relate to why people have become upset over
the name. People feel that this term is not a true representation of who they are or
where they come from. In an article written by the huffington post, Travis Waldron
writes that, In 2014, a judge ruled that the team cannot legally register trademarks
for its Redskin name (Waldron 2015). This ruling became a huge victory for the
native american community. Many members have tried to fight the trademark name
as early as 1992. In fact, an attorney associated with the native american group said,
a victory for human dignity and for my courageous clients who have waited so long

The Death Of Socrates And Jacques-Louis David
The Death of Socrates was painted by the French painter Jacques Louis David during
the Neo classical era in 1787. The painting illustrates the execution the Philosopher
Socrates as told by Plato in his Phaedo. In 399 B.C, the Athenian court had put
Socrates on trial for talking about things in the sky and below the earth, corrupting the
minds of the youth, and not believing in the gods, but in other spiritual things.
Socrateswas then sentenced to death by drinking a poisoned hemlock. In Platos
Phaedo Death Scene and Apology, both works recount the trial and death scene of
Socrates. David, later on, paint the death scene of Socrates inspired by the Phaedo
Death Scene. Socrates gives his last lesson to his students while calmly facing... Show

The establishment of the French regime began to deteriorate as the economic and
social difficulties began to increase. Not only that but the enlightenment quest to
promote reason as the basis for legitimacy and progress began to grow. The
philosophes were a group of people who emphasized the idea of thought and
challenged the authority of the monarchy and the church. The enlightenment era
included the age of Neoclassicism, a movement in attitude toward art and human
existence. Many neoclassical paintings showed emphases on the distribution of light,
serious theme and realistic. Various arts were reproduced or imitated from the
structures and times of Greek and Roman originals.
Jacques Louis David s Death of Socrates plays a significant role in the time of the
French revolution. As the citizens were frustrated with the injustice being brought
upon them by the nobles, David s painting of Socrates is there to awaken the
people to hold on to their beliefs and never deviate from the path of what is just to
them. In Plato s dialogues Apology and Phaedo Death Scene, Socrates was always
portrayed as sedately accepting death, as he states in his defense ...a man who is
any good at all should take into account the risk of life or death; he should look
only to this only in his actions, whether what he does is right or wrong. (Plato. 28b)
Socrates is clearly not concerned whether he lives or dies but preaches to the people
one should be more concerned with the
What Are The Potential Allergenicity Of Genetically...
Evaluating potential allergenicity of genetically modified (GM) food crops Preface
Genetically modified food crops developed by recombinant DNA technology aims at
improving food quantity and quality. Transgenic proteins expressed by GM crops
improve crop characteristics like nutritional value, taste, texture and endow the plant
with resistance against fungus, pests and insects. With the advancements in the field
of agricultural biotechnology, the number of GM varieties ready for
commercialization is increasing in proportion with the area under GM crop
cultivation and the number of countries consuming GM crops. However, prior to
release of a GM crop in the market it must pass through a rigorous safety evaluation
tests to ensure its... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genetic manipulations have the capacity to alter the genetic composition of the
host plant and may also interfere with the already present natural allergens2,3.
Therefore, prior to the release of GM varieties in market it is essential to conduct
allergenicity and toxicity assessments for the safety of the consumers4. Along with
this GM food labeling should also be made mandatory for all new and existing
varieties. Food allergy is defined as an adverse health effect arising from a
hypersensitivity reaction induced upon exposure to a particular food allergen that
occurs reproducibly on subsequent exposures. IgE mediated food allergic
reactions are characterized by excessive activation of mast cells and basophils,
resulting in extreme inflammatory responses like eczema, hives, allergic rhinitis,
asthma and gastrointestinal tract allergies. Food allergies affect 6% of young
children and 3 4% of adults in Western countries5. In general population self
reported prevalence of food allergy range from 5% in Korea, 3.5% in France and
22.2% in Australia6. The incidence of food allergy related anaphylaxis is rising
particularly in children younger than 5 years of age7. Over 90% of food allergy
results from exposure to egg, milk, peanut, tree nut, fish, shellfish, soy and wheat8.
The prevalence of food allergy is influenced by age, culture and dietary habits.

Descriptive Essay About Art
Art is a form of expression that I could never abandon in my life. I became an artist
at a young age, and I can still remember the day art came into my life like angel
sent straight from God. It was my first time watching my Pops draw a portrait. It
was around noon on Saturday in the summer because the noon heat was almost
unearthly. However the vibe in our small two bedroom apartment was absolutely
groovy and cool. Pops was playing the oldies from the 70 s. Sweet love, my sweet
love you ll be crying out my name , I heard as the talented Anita Baker filled my
home s walls with even more soul! He was drawinga self portrait. The detail in the
drawing was so hyper realistic. At the time I did not know that it was a self
portrait. I thought it was just a black man with his hands placed both sides of his
head as if inside he was going crazy inside. My pops hands moved so smoothly as if
each finger had a tiny brain in the tip where the penciltouched. I was around 8 years
old at the time. From that moment I knew I would want to be an artist, because
that type of expression seemed best for my dad. I always paid attention to the early
teachings from the big guy. The cleanliness of the lines that my dad had , it almost
seemed as if he was a surgeon of the paper. He would start with this blank piece paper
and hours later it would become a piece of his life , and in some ways it would
become a major part of mine. Pops handed me a wooden number two pencil and a big

glosses used in the two corpora mainly serve two functions: reformulation and
exemplification, which are the important features of academic writing, and are
more common in academic discourse as compared to other genres (Biber et al.,

two thirds of the code glosses in the hard sciences signaling reformulations, while

explained by the different ways that hard and soft disciplines mediate reality: hard
sciences tend to be cumulative and tightly structured, while soft disciplines use
examples to engage and involve readers (Hyland, 2007, p. 272). Reformulation
occurs when a writer explains and elaborates an idea in a different way to facilitate
comprehension. The complete list of reformulation markers found
Essay about Paradoxical Role of Women in the Great Gatsby
The women in The Great Gatsby appear to be free spirited, scorning norms of what
the nineteenth century would have considered proper female behavior; this essay
investigates just how independent they really are. Women play a paradoxical role
in Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, a novel dominated by the eponymous hero and
the enigmatic narrator, Nick Carraway. With the background of Gatsby s continual
and lavish parties, women seem to have been transformed into flappers, supposedly
the incarnation of independence following World War I. After all, Daisy Fay,
obviously modeled on Fitzgerald s free spirited wife, Zelda Sayre, is hardly portrayed
as the proper southern belle. Her friend, Jordan Baker, seems openly sarcastic when

Thus, according to the most common definitions of flat versus round characters in
literature, none of the women can be considered round or multidimensional
characters. Each functions at least for a time as the cynosure of Gatsby, Nick and
Tom Buchanan. Perhaps the ultimately pathetic condition of women is most
accurately conveyed in a conversation between Nick and Daisy in which Daisy
discusses the birth of her daughter: Well, she was less than an hour old and Tom
was God knows where. I woke up out of the ether with an utterly abandoned
feeling, and asked the nurse right away if it was a boy or a girl. She told me it was
a girl, and so I turned my head away and wept. All right, I said, I m glad it s a girl.
And I hope she ll be a fool that s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful
little fool. (16 17; ch. 1) Beyond the glittering, upper class world of East Egg,
inhabited by Daisy and Tom Buchanan and Jordan Baker, is the squalid area
Fitzgerald refers to as the Valley of Ashes, where George and Myrtle Wilson live.
Myrtle, obviously bent on escaping this Waste Land where George ekes out a living
as a mechanic, has become Tom s mistress. Fitzgerald portrays her unflatteringly as
crass, tasteless, overweight, and ostentatious. At a drunken party in New York City
when Myrtle oversteps one of Tom s dubious moral lines by mentioning Daisy, he hits

Acupuncture In The United States
The uses of complementary or alternative medicine(CAM) has increased
dramatically over the past decade. CAM is a group of health care therapies or
practices that not considered part of the conventional medicine. However, CAM
will be used along with or in place of conventional medicine. In America, nearly 38
percent of the adult population and 12 percent of child population are using CAM
(NCCIH, 2016). CAM has been used for varieties of diseases or symptoms such as
chronic pains, headaches, insomnia. In addition, there are more than forty types of
CAM have been recognized in the United States. Natural products, deep breathing,
and mediation are the most three common CAM used by Americans (NCCIH, 2016).
For the ease of this assignment, an analysis of a type of CAM called acupuncturewill
be conducted. Acupuncture has been practiced in some Asia countries, especially
China for thousands of years. People in those countries generally believed that it is
beneficial in treating varieties of health conditions. Acupuncture was introduced into

Traditionally, we see human beings as subjects endowed with rights, however human
genetic modification commodifies children. Dawn Primarolo, British Labor party

their achievements as they have been made to be perfect, perfection is something
these children cannot surpass. The objectification inherent in HGM undermines
human dignity and ultimately human rights. Under the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights, it states that parties should recognize that every child has the
inherent right to life, and that parties should ensure to the maximum extent possible
the survival and development of the child. However, the rights of an embryo or
fetus are in the hands of the mother; the pregnant woman has a right to decide
whether to seek an abortion or seek to carry her fetus to term and the government s
proper responsibility in this context is to protect her right to choose. The Queensland
Government should also provide for the needs of the mother by setting her rights as

The Moral Dilemma Of The Louisiana Purchase
The Moral Dilemma Of The Louisiana Purchase
President Thomas Jefferson faced many moral dilemmas during the process of
deciding to purchase the territory, the moral predicaments that president Thomas
Jefferson faced was going against the constitution, going in major debt to pay for
the territory, and also faced many issues with foreign policy almost exclusively
between the countries Spain and France. President Jefferson was put in a situation
that no other leader of our young country had ever been in, and he stressed about
breaking his own moral code to make the correct decision for his nation. President
Jefferson s major personal moral dilemma was actually purchasing the territory of
louisiana from the french. Jefferson was a strong Democratic Republican. This party
was founded by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, This party was created in
opposition of the federalist party which was led by Alexander Hamilton. The
Democratic Republican party believed that a strong central national government
would deplete and completely rid the rights of states. The party strongly disapproved
of the national Bank Of The United States stating that the bank was taking away
power that belonged to the states. Among many of the views of the Democratic
Republican the strongest belief was to strictly abided by the constitution, so when the
opportunity arose to purchase the French owned territory, the constitution did not
state whether the government could or could not acquire any new land

Evangelical Christianity In America
The writer of the book of Ecclesiastes is correct, What has been will be again, what
has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. (Eccl 1:9). It
is especially true in America. Racial and ethnic divisions appear to be just as wide as
they were during era of slavery, Reconstruction, and Jim Crow. Within the past
century, Christianityin America, particularly Evangelical Christianity has endeavored
to address social issues like racism but unfortunately has been relatively unsuccessful.
Evangelicalism, particularly white evangelicalism must expand their understanding of
cultural engagement to include more than abortion and homosexuality. To be
relevant, and maintain any semblance of integrity, evangelicalism must apply
different strategies regarding racism, classism, justice, and equality. As an African
American evangelical preacher, I believe that Scripture had more to say about
liberation other than the famous words in Exodus, Let my people go! The question
is how is an evangelical who is committed to the sufficiency of... Show more content

Christianity, demands a better memorializing of those contributions; a work that

A Trend Oriented Power System Security
A TREND ORIENTED POWER SYSTEM SECURITY ANALYSIS METHOD
BASED ON LOAD PROFILE Power system security is an important aspect in the
present generation. Power system security must also be economical. We can t
predict the fault at every time, so based on trend analysis method on load profile in
this paper we are going to see the various methods which help for the protection of
the power system. So we should carefully monitor the security. By these methods
discussed in the paper we are to form security indices which helps us to calculate
the faults in advance. With these methods when problem occurs in real time we
will have the security indices to respond faster to find out the solution for the
problem and also we can protect in advance. Introduction: Power system analysis is
important part of power systems. According to the mathematical model we can
divide security analysis into two types 1.Static analysis 2.Dynamic analysis
Dynamic security analysis is more focused on the behavior subsequent to a
contingency, power system oscillatory modes, frequency instability. In this paper
we are going to study about static analysis. Now moving on to the trend analysis
theory it is developed from stock and commodity markets. This analysis is majorly
successful in medical and mechanical fields, now it is widely used in electrical
systems. Trend analysis theory has its own applications in electrical field such as
signal processing, load forecasting, fault
Us Subprime Mortgage Crisis Essay
The Global Economic Environment
EMBA 683 Fall 2011
Case: U.S. Subprime Mortgage Crisis Policy Reactions
1) What are the causes behind the U.S. Subprime mortgage crisis? Is one cause more
responsible than another?
The first and more important factor that lead to the subprime mortgage crisis was
governments creation of Freddie and Fannie. This move by the government to
intercede the private financial industry sector eventually lead to the US government
being the largest lender of mortgages in the US. In addition to the flawed notion that
government should determine who and how a borrow qualifies for mortgage loan is
disconcerting in and of itself, but this also marked a fundamental change in banks

All of the innovated financial instruments mentioned above allowed individuals that
would have never been able to qualify for a mortgage in the past to enter the
market. This surge of new home buyers into the market created a spiraling effect
that now leaves are market in an excess supply of homes, and a failed mortgage
system that was created and still subsidized by the tax payers as we continue to
bailout Freddie and Fannie.
2) What has the Fed done with regard to monetary policy to address the economic
downturn resulting from the subprime crisis? What is your assessment of how Ben
Bernake has handled the situation?
The Fed implemented several strategies in an attempt to stabilize the economy by
first targeting the struggling Financial Industry. The first move by Bernake was to
reduce the target funds rate to 0 0.25% in an attempt to provide liquidity to the banks
that needed it. Benake also increased government spending by building up their
balance sheet with the assets that were currently frozen in the capital markets, such
as mortgage backed securities. The Fed believed that by purchasing these assets from
the banks it will remove the assets from the banks but also recreate a market for these
type of financial instruments, which would ultimately help the housing industry as
well. To help illustrate Benake s monetary policy philosophy and actions are best
summarized by the following quote, people know that inflation erodes the real

comparison that is to be made is the average total length of Palaemonetes vulgaris
between these two environments. The alternate hypothesis is because of human
interaction occurring in the waters of unprotected areas, the Palaemonetes vulgaris
will have a shorter average total length there. The null hypothesis is there is no
difference in the size of Palaemonetes vulgaris growing in the protected vs.
unprotected areas, because predators will eat all the shrimp in both areas causing

The protected areas of Fort DeSoto will have larger specimens than the unprotected
areas of Eckerd College, because of the protection rights that Fort DeSoto has in
place. Where Eckerd College is not a protected environment the Palaemonetes
vulgaris are open to over fishing areas. The results could have different outcomes
based on a change in locations where the Palaemonetes vulgaris were sampled.
Based on the results, the null hypothesis is rejected because the Palaemonetes
vulgaris in Fort DeSoto are of greater average total length (mm) than in Boca Ciega
Bay at Eckerd College. Based on the results, the alternate hypothesis is accepted,
because of human interactions at Eckerd College, the Palaemonetes vulgaris have
shorter average total length (mm) than Fort DeSoto. By using Fort DeSoto s data
from 2012 (5 years ago from today, 2017) the results may have changed dramatically
in the size and quantity of the Palaemonetes vulgaris. Knowing the correct formulas
and not miss keying the information being entered in to the Excel spreadsheet will
affect the out coming results in the table. Knowing that the data from Fort DeSoto is
from 5 years ago, I would want to update that information first by recollecting the
data. The direction that future research could take would be to analysis the three

Vulnerable populations are defined in many ways. Variables of the definition are
dependent on the author, their current location and how they believe that they may
assist this population. Vulnerability as defined in a healthcare setting are those with a
greater than average risk of developing health problems by virtue of their
marginalized sociocultural status, their limited access to economic resources, or

  • 1. College Level Essay Crafting a college-level essay is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor that demands a blend of critical thinking, research skills, and effective communication. The difficulty lies not only in the articulation of ideas but also in the depth of analysis expected at this academic level. Unlike high school essays, college-level writing requires a more sophisticated understanding of the subject matter and an ability to engage with complex concepts. To begin with, one must navigate through the vast sea of information available, carefully selecting relevant sources and extracting valuable insights. The research process is time- consuming and demands discernment to distinguish credible information from mere conjecture. The challenge intensifies when the topic is intricate or unfamiliar, requiring an in-depth exploration that goes beyond surface-level understanding. Formulating a coherent thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the essay is a critical hurdle. This involves synthesizing the gathered information into a central argument that not only addresses the prompt but also contributes to the broader academic discourse. The thesis must be nuanced, reflecting a deep comprehension of the subject matter and a willingness to engage with opposing perspectives. Once the groundwork is laid, the essay's body requires meticulous organization and logical progression. Transitioning seamlessly between ideas while maintaining a cohesive narrative adds another layer of complexity. Each paragraph must contribute meaningfully to the overall argument, showcasing a mastery of the topic and an ability to synthesize information effectively. Furthermore, the language used in a college-level essay should be precise and sophisticated, demonstrating a command over the nuances of academic discourse. This linguistic challenge extends to the need for proper citation and adherence to a specific style guide, adding an additional layer of detail-oriented complexity. In conclusion, the difficulty of writing a college-level essay is multifaceted, encompassing research, thesis formulation, organizational prowess, and linguistic precision. It is an intellectual journey that demands dedication, critical thinking, and a commitment to scholarly excellence. If you find yourself grappling with the intricacies of such assignments, it's worth considering that help is available. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, a platform designed to assist students in navigating the challenges of academic writing. College Level Essay College Level Essay
  • 2. Rodney King 1992 Summary On March 3, 1991, Rodney King was pulled over by the Los Angeles Police, which four police officers beat him for refusing to follow the officer s instructions (Martin, 2005). These four individuals are Sgt. Stacey C. Koon and Officers Laurence M. Powell, Theodore J. Briseno, and Timothy E. Wind (Martin, 2005). A videographer was able to capture the event that was aired on the KTLA news channel. It became a controversial issue that caused the LA Riot of 1992. Furthermore, Rodney King s case demonstrated the challenges and consequences that held the media, the law enforcement, and the public responsible for the LA Riot of 1992. These challenges were examined by focusing how the media chronologically reported Rodney King s trial and the portrayal of the South Central Los Angeles citizens. In addition, it also analyzed the four officers final verdict and how the public responded. First, George Holliday captured the beating of Rodney King in 1991 (Martin, 2005). He was a bystander that recorded Rodney King which he then provided the video to the KTLA news channel. In addition, the video was an evidence of a police misconduct. The KTLA news channel influenced the viewers to find justice in Rodney King s case. According to Katz (2016), as a society, pop culture crime has influenced people to perceive the stereotypes of authority versus victim. For instance, police officers are inclined to use excessive force to an individual who had Afrocentric African American features. These
  • 3. Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet All of the Children of silence must be taught to sing their own song. This is one of Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet s most famous quotes. Gallaudet lived a very normal childhood and had a very eventful adult life. Gallaudet was a very intelligent child, which led him be granted admission to Yale University at the age of 14. After completing college, he met a young girl named Alice Cogswell. It was Alice that ultimately helped him change the lives of all deaf and dumb people for years to come, by starting the first school especially for them. Gallaudet had many health problems during his life, though it never slowed him down. He suffered from nightmares, nervous attacks , self inadequacy, and lung problems along his journey for equality of all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He realized that his younger siblings would not play with her because she was different . Gallaudet wanted to communicate with her. He wrote the word hat in the dirt, in hopes she would understand, and she did. He was determined to find a better way to communicate with her because writing in the dirt was not most efficient. He met with Alice s father, Dr. Mason Cogswell, who offered to pay Gallaudet s travel expenses to Europe in hope that he could learn a way to communicate with Alice while he was there. While in Europe, he first lived with the Braidwood family, who owned several deaf schools. Their style of teaching was known as the oral way. The oral way of teaching is to teach the deaf students to speak and read lips, but Gallaudet did not like that style. He then met Abbe Sicard, who was the director of The Institute Royal Des Sourds Mutes in Paris, France. He signed up to attend this school and found he loved their way of teaching, which was the way of sign language. Unfortunately, after a year, he realized he did not have enough money to attend any longer. He asked one of the students, Laurent Clerc, to join him on the journey back to the United States, and Clerc agreed. Over time, Clerc taught Gallaudet, further, how to sign, and Gallaudet taught Clerc, further, how to speak English. In April of 1817, the first school for the deaf was opened by Gallaudet and
  • 4. Indian Camp Analysis Kian Cato September 17, 2017 From fishing trip to the birth of a baby to an unexplained suicide, Nick has had a very interesting day. Indian Camp is centered around the main character Nick who is a young boy and his father is a doctor. From the short story Indian Camp , by Ernest Hemingway, Nick experiences his first time seeing several things happening as graphic as child birth with C section and suicide, things he had never seen before and had no idea that he was about to experience that in his life. From the reading, the young Indian seems reluctant to look at the episode head on however he was a good help to his dad. I also observed that Nick is not a tough person, that he is sensitive, passionate and caring. Oh, daddy can t you give her something to make her stop screaming? I think that Nick might have been too young to be experiencing such a grownup episode as childbirth and under the circumstance as a C section and mortality. I also think that his father may have pushed this experience on him a little too soon. As it turns out Nick still too young to really process the idea of mortality and Nick s father had to explain to him a whole lot more than he expected to do. He was looking away so as not to see what his father was doing. Nick did not watch. His curiosity had been gone for a long time. In the Indian Camp there was a young boy named Nick who goes on an adventure with

If the people like a ruler, or leader, it gives them power to act, largely, however they please, but, if the ruler is not well liked, not only does the ruler lose the ability to act, even within the law, but they are much more likely to lose their throne. Throughout Richard II political staging is a means to obtain power, both successfully, and unsuccessfully. In doing so, it reveals the identity of the characters and how they view the world and their place in it. It also demonstrates the problem that power presents, and how it can be hard to wear a political mask, and retain something that is fundamentally individual. In Machiavelli s The Prince, he outlines and ideal ruler, and how they would act, and the best ways to seize power. One of the key themes that underlies this work, is that power comes from the people, not divine right, or inheritance. This question of where power comes from, is also present in Richard II, and it plays out both literally and intellectually within the play. Power from the people, plays out literally in the play, when Henry, works to win people over, so that he can overthrow Richard. Later on in the play, Richard realizes that power comes from the people and not from divine right, and realizes that he has screwed up, and lost the bit of power that he did have. Machiavelli also discusses the importance of appearances. For example,

Defending one s home, fighting against invaders, when they are attacking the state to preserve one s family and friends is an example of the application of these qualifications on the virtue of courage. Considering how this action affects the overall well being of others, we are considering how the action is generally just. In sum, the distinction being made here is that the same virtue can be seen all by itself, as a part of the character of an individual only, and where the virtue is in relation to another person in a particular political community, and its effects on the well being of others in that political community. We have the same state considered from different perspectives. Aristotle says that justice is spoken of in two ways: as lawful and as fair. I will discuss general justice first in order to distinguish it from specific justice. Generally speaking, general justice is concerned with the common good of the community. In the Politics, Aristotle refers to justice as being a communal virtue. Similarly, then, we shall say that virtue has a just claim in the dispute, since [general] justice, we say, is a communal (koinoniken) virtue, which all the other virtues necessarily accompany (Pol.1283a36 39 trans. This is also one of only four cases of enjambment in this poem. The writer obviously wants the lines to flow into each other here maybe so it is like when tears are flowing down your face. Duffy then explores the idea of truth behind the relationship, quite the opposite of what John Donne believes of in his relationship. I am trying to be truthful. The writer obviously wants her lover to know the real meaning of love, not his stereotypical view. Duffy also wants to emphasise the fact of how irregular her present is and it should be thought of. Not a cute card or kissogram. She doesn t want him to receive the normal presents off her; she knows that he would just be expecting that and he wouldn t even think about the meaning of the normal presents. She wants to shock her lover with her present to make sure that the he understands the meaning of why she is giving him a present for Valentine s Day to offer a gift to your true love and emphasise how much you care about them. Duffy then repeats the first line of her poem again in the middle of the poem. I give you an onion. Then there is a contrast with a line in the first stanza. Its fierce kiss will stay on your

Therefore, there is no doubt that they are having a negative effecton our future, the children. In addition to affecting children, talk shows are affecting adults as well. Adults are observing these programs as much as children are, if not more. Our society is continually affected by what is seen, and consequently, there have even been cases of violence as a result of watching one of these talk shows. For instance, in 2000, a man by the name of Jonathan Schmitz murdered a gay man, Scott Amedure, after watching an episode of Jenny Jones in which Amedure admitted that Schmitz was his secret crush according to Ellen Willis (34). Most likely, that tragedy would not have occurred had it not been for a talk show like Jenny Jones that presents immoral topics for millions of viewers to see. Though some companies will be worried about the cost of paying for enhanced security, it is imperative that this issue is incorporated into the cloud computing agreements. By addressing this issue upfront, the costs can be mitigated to a certain extent. A simple way to provide another layer of security is to require stronger password protocol of all users. There is no doubt that television has played a large role in influencing the teenagers of today. When television had first started in the United States there were only 3 channels available NBC, CBS and ABC. Any opportunity to show content targeted toward teens was not really available at the time. When FOX came on the scene in the 1980 s, they were able to cater to the younger generation with shows like BET and MTV (Jamieson and Romer 18). Music was a key entry point; combined with television, it became popular among teens. And as corporations realized the spending power of teenagers, and the potential influence they could have on them, they started targeting this new audience. According to the Teen Health and the Media web site, American teenagers on average spend about 20 hours a week watching television. This means that by the age of 18 they will have been exposed to over 350,000 advertisements on television and 100,000 of that would include alcohol ads. This means that teens are using a third of their day to watch TV. (Teen Health and the Media). The philosophy revolves on two essential idea that a.) it is a duty to treat humanity with fairness, dignity and respect (Hill, 2007); and b.) it is the motive of the person that makes the action right or wrong (Birt et. al., 2014) . Kantianism is espoused by Immanuel Kant which simply emphasized that people should do what is right because it is one s duty to deal with humanity as you handle yourself. Unlike utilitarianism which is concerned with the outcomes of the action, Kant emphasized that one need not necessarily think about the consequence of the action as long as the act itself is morally good (Shaw, Barry, Issa Catley, 2013). He further described that an action can be interpreted as morally right if it is made out of good will and respect and not taking advantage of the situation (Birt et. al., 2010). In an organization, people make decisions. The person who makes a decision or action should be prudent enough to identify that such action is universally right. And so he is acting wilfully out of good intentions. PGD is within an IVF cycle to screen for genetic diseases in early embryos to see whether they carry a disorder prior to implantation and pregnancy. PGD can only select an embryo with genes inherited from the parents it is only utilised for screening genetic diseases, PGD is prohibited for use in cosmetic and enhancement purposes. Present day technology however, brings forth speculation of genetic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Traditionally, we see human beings as subjects endowed with rights, however human genetic modification commodifies children. Dawn Primarolo, British Labor party politician wrote HGM would undermine the child s sense of free will and pride in their achievements as they have been made to be perfect, perfection is something these children cannot surpass. The objectification inherent in HGM undermines human dignity and ultimately human rights. Under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, it states that parties should recognize that every child has the inherent right to life, and that parties should ensure to the maximum extent possible the survival and development of the child. However, the rights of an embryo or fetus are in the hands of the mother; the pregnant woman has a right to decide whether to seek an abortion or seek to carry her fetus to term and the government s proper responsibility in this context is to protect her right to choose. The Queensland Government should also provide for the needs of the mother by setting her rights as being the principal foundation for the rights of the embryo/fetus under this new state legislation the only person with power to make decisions based on the best interest of the child will be the patient who wishes to conceive. They will consider both the risks and the benefits to themselves and future children so

The Moral Dilemma Of The Louisiana Purchase The Moral Dilemma Of The Louisiana Purchase President Thomas Jefferson faced many moral dilemmas during the process of deciding to purchase the territory, the moral predicaments that president Thomas Jefferson faced was going against the constitution, going in major debt to pay for the territory, and also faced many issues with foreign policy almost exclusively between the countries Spain and France. President Jefferson was put in a situation that no other leader of our young country had ever been in, and he stressed about breaking his own moral code to make the correct decision for his nation. President Jefferson s major personal moral dilemma was actually purchasing the territory of louisiana from the french. Jefferson was a strong Democratic Republican. This party was founded by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, This party was created in opposition of the federalist party which was led by Alexander Hamilton. The Democratic Republican party believed that a strong central national government would deplete and completely rid the rights of states. The party strongly disapproved of the national Bank Of The United States stating that the bank was taking away power that belonged to the states. Among many of the views of the Democratic Republican the strongest belief was to strictly abided by the constitution, so when the opportunity arose to purchase the French owned territory, the constitution did not state whether the government could or could not acquire any new land

  • 50. Evangelical Christianity In America The writer of the book of Ecclesiastes is correct, What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. (Eccl 1:9). It is especially true in America. Racial and ethnic divisions appear to be just as wide as they were during era of slavery, Reconstruction, and Jim Crow. Within the past century, Christianityin America, particularly Evangelical Christianity has endeavored to address social issues like racism but unfortunately has been relatively unsuccessful. Evangelicalism, particularly white evangelicalism must expand their understanding of cultural engagement to include more than abortion and homosexuality. To be relevant, and maintain any semblance of integrity, evangelicalism must apply different strategies regarding racism, classism, justice, and equality. As an African American evangelical preacher, I believe that Scripture had more to say about liberation other than the famous words in Exodus, Let my people go! The question is how is an evangelical who is committed to the sufficiency of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I survey Hughes Oliphant Olds massive seven volume set that chronicles the history of preaching throughout the ages, I am on one hand impressed and on the other hand saddened. I am disheartened that very little exists on that grand scale for African American preaching. The enormous contributions of African Americans to Christianity, demands a better memorializing of those contributions; a work that highlights their life, their theology, as well as their rhetoric. The work I desire to produce over the next decade will have a similar methodology of Hughes Oliphant Olds. Along with that goal, I want to set up a digital library where students can go and listen to sermons of African American preachers in

Power system security must also be economical. We can t predict the fault at every time, so based on trend analysis method on load profile in this paper we are going to see the various methods which help for the protection of the power system. So we should carefully monitor the security. By these methods discussed in the paper we are to form security indices which helps us to calculate the faults in advance. With these methods when problem occurs in real time we will have the security indices to respond faster to find out the solution for the problem and also we can protect in advance. Introduction: Power system analysis is important part of power systems. According to the mathematical model we can divide security analysis into two types 1.Static analysis 2.Dynamic analysis Dynamic security analysis is more focused on the behavior subsequent to a contingency, power system oscillatory modes, frequency instability. In this paper we are going to study about static analysis. Now moving on to the trend analysis theory it is developed from stock and commodity markets. This analysis is majorly successful in medical and mechanical fields, now it is widely used in electrical systems. Trend analysis theory has its own applications in electrical field such as signal processing, load forecasting, fault

Us Subprime Mortgage Crisis Essay The Global Economic Environment EMBA 683 Fall 2011 Case: U.S. Subprime Mortgage Crisis Policy Reactions 1) What are the causes behind the U.S. Subprime mortgage crisis? Is one cause more responsible than another? The first and more important factor that lead to the subprime mortgage crisis was governments creation of Freddie and Fannie. This move by the government to intercede the private financial industry sector eventually lead to the US government being the largest lender of mortgages in the US. In addition to the flawed notion that government should determine who and how a borrow qualifies for mortgage loan is disconcerting in and of itself, but this also marked a fundamental change in banks models of originate and hold ... All of the innovated financial instruments mentioned above allowed individuals that would have never been able to qualify for a mortgage in the past to enter the market. This surge of new home buyers into the market created a spiraling effect that now leaves are market in an excess supply of homes, and a failed mortgage system that was created and still subsidized by the tax payers as we continue to bailout Freddie and Fannie. 2) What has the Fed done with regard to monetary policy to address the economic downturn resulting from the subprime crisis? What is your assessment of how Ben Bernake has handled the situation? The Fed implemented several strategies in an attempt to stabilize the economy by first targeting the struggling Financial Industry. The first move by Bernake was to reduce the target funds rate to 0 0.25% in an attempt to provide liquidity to the banks that needed it. Benake also increased government spending by building up their balance sheet with the assets that were currently frozen in the capital markets, such as mortgage backed securities. The Fed believed that by purchasing these assets from the banks it will remove the assets from the banks but also recreate a market for these type of financial instruments, which would ultimately help the housing industry as well. To help illustrate Benake s monetary policy philosophy and actions are best summarized by the following quote, people know that inflation erodes the real

Palaemonetes vulgaris (common name grass shrimp) is an invertebrate that is native to both areas. The comparison that is to be made is the average total length of Palaemonetes vulgaris between these two environments. The alternate hypothesis is because of human interaction occurring in the waters of unprotected areas, the Palaemonetes vulgaris will have a shorter average total length there. The null hypothesis is there is no difference in the size of Palaemonetes vulgaris growing in the protected vs. unprotected areas, because predators will eat all the shrimp in both areas causing them to have the same... The protected areas of Fort DeSoto will have larger specimens than the unprotected areas of Eckerd College, because of the protection rights that Fort DeSoto has in place. Where Eckerd College is not a protected environment the Palaemonetes vulgaris are open to over fishing areas. The results could have different outcomes based on a change in locations where the Palaemonetes vulgaris were sampled. Based on the results, the null hypothesis is rejected because the Palaemonetes vulgaris in Fort DeSoto are of greater average total length (mm) than in Boca Ciega Bay at Eckerd College. Based on the results, the alternate hypothesis is accepted, because of human interactions at Eckerd College, the Palaemonetes vulgaris have shorter average total length (mm) than Fort DeSoto. By using Fort DeSoto s data from 2012 (5 years ago from today, 2017) the results may have changed dramatically in the size and quantity of the Palaemonetes vulgaris. Knowing the correct formulas and not miss keying the information being entered in to the Excel spreadsheet will affect the out coming results in the table.
