Corporate Finance Programs
Corporate Finance Programs
Introduction
In a company s operational activities, it is essential induce financial management in its
organizational structure. All business operations center on the use of finances to incur profits that
benefit the company employees, shareholders and their nation s economic society. This context
digs into the conduction of both managerial and corporate finance. The executive finance deals with
managerial implication on financial techniques used alongside pecuniary decisions made by the
company besides other financial tools and analytical procedures through corporate finance. Among
the techniques used are corporate valuation, value based management, corporate governance and
EPOS (Employees Stock Ownership) plans.
Corporate Valuation
This is the evaluation of firm value strategies by forecasting on past financial statements; presenting
values of cash flow stream strategies and choosing value maxima based on the appropriate strategic
plan. A firm s stock is valued through different methods such as through the discounted dividend
model.
Corporate valuation is channeled alongside the corporate valuation model. It is a substitute to stock
valuation. The model points out company s main operational and non operational assets as well as
the total worth of firm value and growth (Ehrhardt and Brigham, 2008, pg 659). It is usually an
alternative to discounted dividend models in determining firm value of companies with no history
in dividend and its

Rhetorical Analysis Of Abraham Lincoln s The Gettysburg...
In the nineteenth century, the United States of America existed as two separate entities at war with
one another. Because the founding fathers left a pressing matter unaddressed and the government
incomplete, the country they worked to establish fell into war with itself. In his speech The
Gettysburg Address, Abraham Lincolndiscusses the goals of the founding fathers in establishing the
United States. He implies another meaning to these goals to encourage the Union troops, those
fighting to abolish slavery, to continue the fight. He also challenges them to honor their fellow
soldiers who sacrificed their lives by continuing to fight. Lincoln utilizes the mission of the founding
fathers and the recent fallen to encourage the unification of the nation. To establish the importance
of unity, Lincoln reemphasizes the purpose of founding the nation; however, he implies a different
meaning. In the context of the speech, Lincoln is encouraging the Union s troops to continue the
fight for a united nation; the goal of the Union is to abolish slavery and establish equal rights.
Lincoln redefines the founding father s statement that all men are created equal, (Lincoln, 2014, p.
115). He implies that this definition includes all men no matter the race, while the original purpose
only included white men. The war that tore apart the nation was because of racial inequality. This
definition aligns with the mission of the Union. Without an understanding of some form, the nation
the founding fathers brought forth on this continent...conceived in Liberty, (Lincoln, 2014, p. 115)
would cease to exist. Liberty means that nothing oppresses the nation; however, unequal rights for
the citizens restricts this liberty. Therefore, the nation the founding fathers envisioned cannot exist
while slavery exists. By reiterating and refocusing the mission of the founding fathers, Lincoln
explains the reason for unification. Lincoln expands on the significance of the sacrifices the citizens
recently made for the betterment of the nation. Lincoln gives The Gettysburg Addressstanding on
the battlefield soldiers died on to dedicate the grounds as a memorial to them and to honor the
sacrifices they made. While remembering the fallen, he

Discuss The Aspects Of Jean Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive...
Which aspects of Jean Piaget s theory of cognitive development have been empirically supported or
refuted? Jean Piaget proposed his theory of cognitive development in his book The Origins of
Intelligence in Children (1952). In this theory, he divided cognitive development into a series of
stages and periods based on the fundamental assumption that children are mentally active from the
moment of birth, a controversial concept at the time since it was previously believed that until a
child could communicate that they were not mentally active. His theory can be described as
constructivist, meaning that children construct knowledge themselves in response to their
experiences. He based his theory primarily on interactions with his own children and additional
interviews with other children yet has stood the test of time, remaining the most well known
cognitive developmental theory, encompassing a diverse range of topics within children s
development from the first days of infancy through to adolescence. Piaget argued that cognitive
development involves both continuities and discontinuities. The three main sources of continuity
are vital in driving development and work together from birth. The first process, assimilation,
occurs when children integrate new information into their current knowledge (Santrock and Yussen,
1978). Secondly, accommodation is when children adjust to new information and enhance their
current knowledge in response to new experiences, as defined by

Poverty Between Poverty And Poverty Essay
Poverty in America is severe. One third of our population lives under the poverty line. The
poverty line being a family of three or more surviving on $36,000 or less. This transfers to 20.5
million people. Seven million of these people being women with children. 6.7% of our population
has an income less than 9,000 for a family of three. These numbers are astounding and they are
only on the rise. This means that more families are going without food. This means more children
are starving and getting sick and dying. One in four families are going without food. This is a huge
problem. Everyone says that povertyis a problem but most people are ignorant to the fact that it is
beyond our comprehension how big it is. Many think it is easily solved just by getting a job.
Minimum wage is ten dollars. Most people living under the poverty line are working minimum
wage and struggling to make ends meet. This now totals 103 million, meaning that one third of
the population with an income of 36,000 for a family of three. Out of the 20.5 million, 6 million
have no income at all other than food stamps. As Ronald Reagan s once said, we fought a war
with poverty and poverty won. This problem is so common and widely spread that if you walk
outside your door and drive ten minutes you will find a place where there are homeless people
living without a shelter. Just driving to my local grocery store; two minutes away, there is a
homeless camp in the parking lot not too far from the door.

Personal Narrative Essay Traped
Traped It was a pleasurable day, striding down the hall in an enjoyable mood, but soon will be
not. It was the very first basketball practice of the year, and I got to walk through the gym to get
to practice. There were always a lot of people in the gym, so it s not easy to steer through. Lucky
for me though, there were another set of doors at the end of the hallway, that would enter at the
other side of the gym, and just walk straight. I thought I could just use the other doors to make it
easier, when I was trying to get to practice. The gym was very crowded, so I tried using the other
doors, but then got locked out. The gym was clustered with so many people playing basketball

Attila the Hun
Why were the military campaigns of Attila the Hun successful?
Attila s military success will be explained through his ability to lure the Romans into war on a
pretext whenever the Romans were vulnerable. His motives behind each war was to abstract as
much money from the Romans as possible. Also to be explored will be his ability to assert
psychological domination over the Eastern Emperor at a time when the two Empires were at peace.
Furthermore to be examined will be his ability to portray himself as diplomatic through treaties and
embassy consultations between the Romans and the Huns. Also to be looked at will be how
successful was Attila s at creating and seizing opportunities This will be done by looking at Attila s

On the other hand, they may have been quite capable of such construction for it is well
documented they had enslaved many tradesmen. As for example in the bath which was made
for the Hunnic noble Onegesius by a craftsman who was captured at Sirmium. Nevertheless the
Huns ransacked and pillaged the Balkans taking fortified cities along the way such as
Viminacium, Illyricum and defeated the Roman army at Chersonese. According to Brian Croke,
In 441 the Huns invaded Illyricum only and in 442 broke into northern Thrace . The Romans
sued for peace and the Treaty of Anatolius was agreed. Attila terms demanded that the annual
tribute be tripled to 2,100 pounds of gold. He also compelled the Romans to surrender all Hun
deserters and to ransom their own deserters at a rate of twelve solidi each. The treaty, however,
contained one provision that had no precedent. Attila forced the Romans to make an immediate
payment of 6,000 pounds of gold. Attila s plan to force a war to bring about higher subsidies had
worked. He would devastate the Balkans for a second time in 447 when he came looking for
subsidies that were in arrears.
When Atillas second campaign of the Balkans began in 447 he was sole leader of the Huns after

The Case Study Of The Pfizer
In summary of the Pfizer case study, the organization realized executives and key employees were
spending 20 40% of their time on support work rather than knowledge work. In response, the
company started a magic button process. When an employee would like to pass off the tasks that
are monotonous or lack luster they can press the magic button . The tasks are assigned to
individuals of an outside organization for completion. The result is an increase of employee
productivity.
Within my small organization 50% or more of my day is spend on power points, support
documentation, and sales calls. Our resource pool is shallow being a startup and some day we will
implement the magic button . The only aspect that I am uncomfortable with regarding outsourcing
is using overseas labor when someone in the USA could perform the same job for a slightly higher
price. Although the organization saves money in the short term, the economic strain by outsourcing
overseas has long a long term impact on the local economy. The utilization of temp workers has
become more prevalent with workforce globalization.
Analyzing the organization for which I work and considering the structural implications the
PfizerWorks approach would have on productivity, I will begin with work specialization. Work
specialization is a key element of organizational design and refers to dividing work activities into
separate job tasks (Robbins, Decenzo, Coulter, 2015). The organization I am working with

Bio Engineered Foods Essay
The advancements in the field of biotechnology have enabled scientists to aid the production of
bio engineered food products. Bio engineered foods are created with the insertion of a new gene
into a plant or organism to change it s traits. This altercation of DNA produces new proteins that
create this change. In order to better fill consumer demands and receive a larger profit, farmers use
genetically modified crops to: help assure a longer plant life, improve nutrition in food, and resist
certain herbicides. With these changes comes fault, after the plantation when this food hits the
market there is no mandate for the labeling of genetically modified foods. It is believed that these
foods have their benefits, however, their risks hold a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the dangers begin to pile the possibilities become dire, Many children in the US and Europe
have developed life threatening allergies to peanuts and other foods. There is a possibility that
introducing a gene into a plant may create a new allergen or cause an allergic reaction in
susceptible individuals ... Extensive testing of GM foods may be required to avoid the
possibility of harm to consumers with food allergies (4). It is obviously necessary that
genetically modified foods be closer studied before they can be declared safe. Other risks pertain
to consumer health, Many people believe that organically produced foods are, in some way,
healthier than conventionally produced foods, and they seek out products that are labeled
organic because organic agriculture shuns synthetic chemical pesticides, herbicides, and
fertilizers (2). It shouldn t be an issue if consumers want options, especially to stay healthy.
Putting consumers at risk for the sake of not writing text on a label, isn t worth it. If genetically
modified foods are so safe then why has it become an issue to label them? Without the mandatory
labeling of these foods, this is a risk the consumer has no choice but to take. An even bigger
drawback of bio engineered food is their effect on the environment. Not only can these foods effect
humans, they effect nature and wildlife as well, B.t. toxins kill many species of insect larvae
indiscriminately; it is not possible to design a B.t.

Classroom Inclusion In The Classroom
For the majority of educational history, students with disabilities are placed in segregated
classrooms in order to protect them. However, recent controversy details the existence of increased
negative impacts on classroom segregation. The importance of classroom inclusion falls under three
main categories: mutual acceptance and equal treatment of students with disabilities in society,
increased personality development in disabled students, and quicker development of crucial skills
(Soponaru, Camelia, et al. 1). Overall, integrated classrooms appear to be effective, but many
regular educationteachers lack the qualifications to properly instruct integrated classrooms. Even
though some regular education teachers are qualified to teach integrated classrooms, regular
education teachers with integrated classrooms need to be more thoroughly educated about special
needs to ensure an optimal learning environment for all students.
Regular education teachers with integrated classrooms need to be more thoroughly educated about
special needs to optimize their teaching abilities. Recent advocacy for inclusion classrooms has left
unqualified teachers instructing a range of students; which unfortunately leads to unfavorable
learning environments. According to an interview with Mary Fair, a regular education teacher, it is
common for a regular education teacher to be placed in a classroom without any prior knowledge
on properly instructing children with special needs; the outcome is a

LEEP And Why Is It Done
What is a LEEP and why is it done? A LEEP is done when you have an abnormal cervical cancer
screening result; it is one way of removing the abnormal cells from your cervix. Your
gynecologists dose this by using a thin wire that acts like a scalpel. Electric current is passed
through the loop, which cuts away a thin layer of the cervix. How is LEEP performed? The
procedure should be done when you are not on your period so that the doctor can have a better
view of your cervix. Most of the time LEEP is done in the doctor s office, this only takes a few
minutes so you should be in and out. To have the procedure done you will be lying on you back
with your legs in stirrups. Then the doctor will insert a speculum into your vagina in the same
way as for a pelvic exam. A local anesthesia will be used so you don t feel pain. This will be given
through a needle attached to a syringe. You are most likely going to feel a slight sting, then a
dull ache or cramp. Then the loop is inserted into your vagina to the cervix. There will be
different sizes and shapes of the loops that will be used. There is a small chance that you may feel
faint during the procedure. If you do feel faint tell your doctor immediately.... Show more content

Affordable Care Act
The Affordable Care Act The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is considered to be one of the most
radical health care moves in legislation after Medicare. The reason being that it will provide
universal health coverage to everyone regardless of circumstance. An evaluation of ACA s
influence on health care will be evaluated in this paper. The Cost of Health Care As the new
healthcare law takes effect insurance premiums are expected to rise. On average for the last six
years insurances premiums have gone up six percent per year. The average annual cost that
employers pay to cover their employees is around $10,000 for each employee. Usually employees
are responsible for 20 percent that total or $2000. At this time the new law has done... Show more

The Effect on Quality According to Chaffee, Mason, and Leavitt (2007) this act provides
coverage for up to 32 million of the 45 million uninsured by 2010. It prevents insurance
companies from denying coverage to those with pre existing conditions and also inhibits these
companies from removing coverage from people who develop serious illness (Open Congress,
2009). Moreover, it blocks insurance groups from applying annual and lifetime caps on coverage
(Chaffee, Mason Leavitt, 2007). The mission of the ACA is to overhaul the inadequate health
care system within the country by providing affordable and accessible health care to everyone.
Compared to other wealthy countries, the United States ranks last in regard to the five indicators
of high performing health systems access, quality, equity, efficiency, and health status. This act
has the ability to markedly improve health care. Hence, average citizens embrace ACA because it
enables them to receive coverage at an affordable cost. Likewise, many nurses welcome ACA
because it ushers in several innovative health care programs that will enhance nursing practice and
work environment (Hertel, 2011). The Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 allows nurses to
focus on health care services as opposed to having to battle with insurance companies regarding
coverage. It allows more time to be spent in the delivery of care, rather than focusing on the
financial aspect. This bill improves

The Validity Of Social Exchange Theories
Social Exchange theory Theories are defined as a belief, policy, or procedure proposed or
followed as the basis of action (Theory, n.d.). The theory that I researched is the social exchange
theory. Defined as interpreting people s social interactions that are based on estimates of rewards
and punishment. The research indicates that the theory is valid. I will go further in to depth.
This theory is relevant in many peoples lives. Let me explain in a scenario. A man named
Johnathan was shopping for a graduation gift for his best friend Anna. He spent days trying to
find a suitable gift to give. After days, he finally found the perfect gift. The gift cost a lot of
money to get and he felt proud of it. Later, at graduation, he gave Ann the amazing gift, and
wondered what he would get from her. Ann pulled out a congratulations card and handed it to him.
Even though he liked it, deep down he had high expectations and in turn the payoff was low for
him, causing him to have negative feeling about the interaction. Social exchange theory can be
explained in many ways, but this scenario explained it well.
The social exchange theory s first major appearance in publication world came from John Thibault,
and Harold Kelly in 1952 ( Social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main critic to address the inaccuracy of this theory is Katherine Miller. In her publication in
2005 she proposed many objectives regarding the theory. Katherine Stated, Social Exchange
theory assumes that the intimacy achieved in relationships is linear in nature (SET, 2012,
para.10). What does this mean? Let me explain. Looking deeper into the research her issue is for
the theory to be accurate, certain social parameters need to be met. In Katherines words, she says
that the theory needs to rely on the openness of the social interaction to be accurate (SET, 2012,
para.10). Does Katherines article regarding social exchange theory factual? Perhaps it is.

In spite of huge increase in sales in large quarter, the profit and loss summary of the company
shows that net profit before taxes decreased considerably from $14,800 in August of 1987 to
$3,100 in September of the same year. Also net sales and gross profit margindecreased in this
period. All this can be attributed to huge inefficiencies that exist in the manufacturing processes of
Donner.
Major issues are В–
В•Poor Quality Items returned by customers increased from 1% to 3%. One tenth of the boards
returned to the Donner Company were damaged or out of tolerance while the rest were returned
due to the company not completing one or two different required operations.
В•Process Flow One of Donner s major problems lies in their process flow. There are many
bottlenecks and employee downtime which arise from poor process flow setup and unforeseen
problems.
В•Low Productivity В– For example Plater spent 15% of her time walking between her desk and
the plating tank. Also, plating and etching processes were located far form the machining operation.
В•Late Deliveries In 1987, Donner was faced with problems in meeting delivery schedules and
growing customer returns.

Discrimination In To Kill A Mockingbird
INTERTEXTUAL STUDY
Compare the ways in which the authors of both texts explore the idea of racism
Racism has been a major problem in the world for hundreds of years and it has never been resolved
nor it will never be resolved.
Harper Lee s 1960 novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Joel Schumacher s 1996 film, A Time To Kill,
both share similarities in the way racism is explored throughout both texts.
Racial violence and discrimination are two major themes that are depicted within both texts, but the
most important theme overall is the acceptance between the two races which is shown in both texts.
To Kill A Mockingbirdand A Time To Kill are two very similar texts that share the same plot and
the same meaning.
Both texts explore the idea if racism through the theme of racial violence.

Racial discrimination is the main type of discrimination throughout the novel when compared with
class or gender.
The primary example of discrimination in the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, is when Tom
Robinson, a black man is wrongly accused of rape and assault on Mayella, a white woman.
When in court with Attics, a white lawyer, defending Robinson, the blacks were to be seated on the
top level of the courtroom to show that they were not important and that their opinion doesn t matter.
Discrimination is also shown in the film, A Time To Kill, when, again, in the courtroom blacks
were to sit on the top level.
Not only is discrimination shown in the courtroom, but also in the town.
For example, the two races were living on different sides of the town, blacks were not allowed to
associate with whites let alone touch them or nearly look at them.
Lee and Schumacher provide evidence that shows discrimination as being a major theme used
throughout both texts.
Acceptance was an important theme shown in both

The Interpretation Of The South On Alternate Voices, And...
Franklin opened the interpretation of the South to alternate voices, and gave a firm framework on
establishing the different perspectives relevant for Woodward s experiential not one South thesis.
The points of contention between their interpretations are telling about Southern histories, and their
reputations evidenced the lingering effects of institutionalized racism, as Woodward often gets credit
for opening Southern history to African Americannarratives. However, it was Franklin that did it
first and allowed for agency, while Woodward s narratives most featured black victimization
/victimhood. Despite some differences in interpretation, Franklin and Woodward would become
two of the most influential historians of the twentieth century. Only recently does it seems more
women, more minorities, more identities are writing southern history from their unique viewpoints
and interpretations. All of them aided by the path laid by Franklin. His influence is clear in the
works of Tera Hunter, Mary Hoffschwelle, Karen Cox, Pippa Holloway, and all of the most recent
histories of the South.Franklin s essays mirrored role of African American in Southern
historiography. Starting out, African Americans were given little or no attention at all, then came
outright racist histories, then blacks as subjects of white actions/ideologies, and finally, blacks as
full historical actors, controlling their own lives, demonstrating their own agency, controlling their
own narratives.

The Relationship Between Human Relations And Public Relations
Human relations refers to everything we do with, for, and to each other as citizens and as human
beings (Dempsey, 2014, pg. 330). An example is officers integrating ongoing training initiatives for
departments to establish respect within communities, regardless of color, ethnicity, economic status
or sexual orientation. Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds strong
relationships between the public and organizations. The public relations approach reflects efforts to
improve the public s perception of the police, by informing the public why departments and officers
do what they do and enhancing their public image as first responders and community helpers.
Community relations really ties both human relations and public relations together. Communities
rely on police departments to protect and serve and the police, in turn, rely on community support
and cooperation, but the relationship is not always harmonious (RAND, 2017). They could be
either negative or positive, depending on the type of interaction. An example of this is by taking
active interests in the community problems, participating in local government, or simply going to
youth activities such as middle/high school events. Involvement in community programs and
neighborhood projects can bring the citizens together with police by creating a purpose to build
unity and show a more personable side of the police.

America has always been known as a melting pot , especially with all the minority population that

challenges with certain racial and ethnic compositions. Ethical and racial minorities regarded 90%
of the population growth in the United States from 2000 2010, and the United States is very
rapidly becoming even more diverse (Dempsey, 2014, p. 334). These conflicting accounts arise, in

tenth season of Summertime Classics, presented by The New York Philharmonic, features
Bramwell Tovey, who has been the host as well as the conductor of this series since its

Research Paper: Wassily Kandinsky
Shelby Steinbach
Des Moines Area Community College
April 2017
Wassily Kandinsky has been part of my fascination and love for art for approximately ten years
now. Beginning when I was a freshman in high school, and every year as part of our art classes, my
instructor would do small units on art theory and highlight artists throughout those units, Kandinsky
included. While my talents, in particular, are somewhat limited to what I can represent, Kandinsky
was the first to break Western art s most important rule: that art need to depict anything (Frank,
396). As the first to break away from art being representational, Kandinsky opened other avenues of
expression, as well (Wassily Kandinsky.org). Surrealism, the movement I am most fascinated by, is
something I believe is a natural extension from art representing nothing, to art representing multiple
things. Der Blaue Reiter, painted in 1903 is important for several reasons. Leaning more towards
Impressionism, it is one of the more famous paintings from ... Show more content on

Okonchewo And His Father In Okonkwo
Okonkwo s story portrays the major differences between African culture and the idea that the
Western society had on the African culture. Okonkwo is native to the Umuofia tribe and
represented this oversized human being who with holds no emotion. All this makes Okonkwo seem
very unrelatable and unfriendly, but this is what makes his relationships with the characters in the
book so entertaining. For example, Okonkwohad a very negative connection with his father that
affected him so much that it brought him to the point where it changed his life and is also the
reason why he is so strict with his kids. With the introduction of these missionaries into the tribe, it
completely changed the way the tribe acted and ended up bringing Okonkwo to a point where he
had to pay the ultimate price. It was all because they couldn t get along.
The most influential person in Okonkwo s life both negatively and positively was his father
because of the way he changed Okonkwo. The relationship he had with his father was what gave
him the motivation to work harder and try and become a leader of the Umuofia tribe. Okonkwo
did not like his lazy father because of how little he had done for his family and himself. Okonkwo s
goal was to be the opposite of his father and to teach his kids not to be like his father. Achebe
writes: But in spite of these disadvantages, he had begun even in his father s lifetime to lay the
foundations of a prosperous future. It was slow and painful. But he threw himself

I know it seems easy to be late to class, but for some it s not. Some people were born morning
people and some were born night owls. Half of the night owls are able to get 3 4 hours of sleep and
still be in class on time and function like a normal person. The other half walk around looking
half dead or like zombies trying to figure out if they re even in the right class. This paper isn t about
the night owls who already know how to be late to class. This is for the people who just want to be
lazy one day and be late to class for the 1st time in their life.
The night before, you have to do the things a lazy person or night owl does. That mostly involves
doing things you know you shouldn t be doing, but doing them anyway because you never know ...

Now that you late, you don t hurry up and run to class. You might as well be extra late or just
even skip the class all together. You then take a shower, eat breakfast and even drive or walk slow
to school because you re so late it won t even matter. You finally made it to class with only 5
minutes left. What now? You go hide in the bathroom until the bell ring. You go to the teacher of
the class you just missed and explain that it won t happen again and that you even have the
homework done. Due to this being the 1st class you ever missed, the teacher don t even care and
tell you not to worry about a thing. Who knew it was that easy?
Now that you have learned to not be in class on time (or at all), you will feel a little more at ease
about doing it in the future. Maybe you re the morning person who gets tired of being on a
constant schedule so you want to relax one night without having to worry about the early class in
the morning. You could even be a night owl trying to change your ways and you see the things in
this text that you do and might want to change. As long as it don t become an everyday thing, be

Characteristics Of Psychopathy And Antisocial Disorder
Characteristics of Psychopathy vs Antisocial Disorder
Dennis Metz
University of South Florida
Characteristics of Psychopathy vs Antisocial Disorder
Psychopathy is defined as a disorder of personality and antisocial disorder is primarily behaviorally
based. Interestingly these disorders are considered co morbid, because they can be present
simultaneously within in patient but are not the same (Werner, Few, Bucholz, 2015). This paper
will discuss the literature for psychopathy and antisocial disorder, any relevant theories, and areas in
need of further research.
Psychopathy is defined as the suffering of the mind (Juni, 2014). Psychopathy diagnoses of people
who do not understand why their actions are unacceptable do not ... Show more content on

One individual with psychopathic personality disorder is not necessarily antisocial, and an
individual with antisocial disorder does not always meet the diagnostic criteria of psychopathy
(Juni, 2014). It is estimated the general population suffering from antisocial disorder range
between 1% 4% and .2% 3.3% for people who had a situation within the past twelve months
(Werner, Few, Bucholz, 2015). These results are based on patients who are participants of
communities, or clinical populations and are supplemented from criminal populations when
necessary. The patients were all diagnosed before the age of fifteen. Gender also plays a role
because men are three to five times more likely to be diagnosed with either antisocial disorder or
psychopathy disorder including 6% of men, and 2% of women (Werner, Few, Bucholz, 2015). Even
forensic data shows a higher prevalence between male psychopathy and antisocial disorders than
their female counterparts.
The Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual (PDM) stresses the underlying psychodynamic aspects
which does not focus on the antisocial behavior as much as a preoccupation with interpersonal
power (Juni, 2014). This statement makes clear distinction between psychopathy and antisocial
disorder because psychopaths are more concerned with power than antisocial behaviors around
others.
The criteria related to antisocial behavior patterns include low social intelligence and power
impulse control (Juni, 2014).

Collective Behavior
Chapter I: The Study of Collective Behavior
A. What Is Collective Behavior?
As we review these pages for the final time sections of Los Angeles are in flames in response to a
jury verdict exonerating police whose beating of an African American man was captured on
videotape. Supporters and opponents of abortion take to the streets daily. Mexico City searches
for answers to a gas explosion that leveled a 40 square block area. The number of men wearing
pony tails and one earring and the number of people saying and understanding yo, dude seems to
be increasing. These diverse actions fall within the area sociologists call collective behavior.
Some fields in sociology are relatively easy to define and their meaning can be grasped ... Show

An even more extreme view argues that the field as a whole should be abolished because all
complex social behavior is collective and to a degree dynamic. Hence the field has no unique
subject matter. The collective behavior perspective is thought to apply to all behavior and no
unique concepts, theories or methods are needed to understand it, apart from general sociological
concepts. If we were starting fresh we could certainly find a better name for the field and perhaps
a more logical way of dividing it up (although this could be said of most intellectual fields).
The term collective behavior does not have much literal meaning since strictly speaking it
includes any group behavior. Yet once established, intellectual traditions are slow to change. The
initial definitions of knowledge and questions in this field still exert a powerful hold. Courses
and books usually contain the words collective behavior. Critics of this field raise important
issues, but as in Kipling s fable of the blind persons and the elephant (where each person correctly
identifies a separate part, but all fail to see the whole animal), we think there is a broad logic
uniting the field. The logic involves emergent group behavior in settings where cultural guidelines
are non specific or lacking, inadequate, or in dispute.

Informative Speech On Pickles
While pickles may have been rumored to cause stomach cancers and cases of high blood sugar,
in the long run, pickles could be what is keeping you up and running. To understand how pickels
effect you, you have to understand where they came from. The green goddesses date back about
4,030 years ago and are believed to have originated from India. Pickles go way back, so why are
people just now being concerned about eating them? Personally I believe that pickles have many
healthbenefits such as giving you a good source of antioxidants, improves hemoglobin levels in
diabetics, helps to protect your liver for liver cancer, and by reducing ulcers so, in a long run they
could be good for you. Pickles are very salty because they are made by emerging cucumbers... Show

Many people believe pickles are bad for you because of the high salt levels that can lead to
stomach cancer. Stomach cancer can have many causes though such as smoking or eating a diet
with a lot of salt. Pickles have not been directly linked to causing stomach cancer. Although just like
any other food, as long as you eat pickles in moderation it shouldn t hurt you. The history of
pickles is a little unknown they were mentioned in the bible twice and it s rumored that George
Washington had a collection with 476 different types of pickles. The tradition of pickling begin
in the Tigris Valley in India. History sets their usage to over 3,000 years ago in western Asia,
Egypt and Greece. In the 14th century it was noted that Queen Elizabeth was fond of the
common snack. Shakespeare also was one of the first people to use pickle as a metaphor .
Pickling in Canada goes back to about 1535 while pickling in America goes back to about 1606.

vel, and this is associated with a positively expressed assurance opinion * The objective of a limited
assurance engagement is a reduction in assurance engagement risk to a level that is acceptable in
the circumstances and this is associated with a negatively expressed assurance opinion, such as that
nothing has come to the auditor s attention to persuade them that the information has been
materially misstated * A significant difference between a related services engagement and an
assurance engagement is that the auditor does not have the discretion to undertake evidence
collection procedures outside those that have been agreed upon * The auditor therefore only issues
a report of factual findings to the parties that have agreed to the procedures being performed, in
which no conclusion is communicated and which therefore expresses no assurance * An assertion
based assurance engagement requires the auditor to issue an opinion on written assertions made y
others * A direct reporting assurance engagement requires the auditor to provide assurance on the
accountability matter on which the responsible party has not made a written assertion

Types of Organizations and leadership styles
Hypothesis: different types of organizations perform better with leadership styles tailored to that

When researching the different styles of leadership, one question that likely comes to mind is the
relationship of the leadership style to the performance of the organization. Organizations in the

Motivating people is not an easy task especially when it comes to routine work, yet leaders are
up for the challenge and possess a certain enthusiastic charisma that exudes onto everyone.
Leaders have a greater tendency to see people as assets, thus putting more value on them and
treating them as the crucial components that they are to the organization. This type of
organization can be referred to as a high performance organization (HPO), an organization that
views and treats people as the assets that they are. These types of organizations are more
successful and grow as an organization, for they put value into their most important resource,
people. Viewing people as assets is essential to an organization s degree of success. This sort of
behavior exudes onto the employees and they feel more valuable, which improves overall morale
and in turn helps productivity. In short, managers have subordinates, while leaders have followers,
(Jacobs, 62). Power, authority, and formal decision making are all correlated with management.
Managers are much more focused on production and meeting the bottom line, yet leaders are more
concerned with the people in the organization and the overall moral. End of the quarter deadlines,

Optic Nerve Construction
There are many structures in the eye, some of which include; the retina, rods and cones, the macula,
the central fovea, the cranial nerve, the optic chiasm and the lateral geniculate nucleus. The retina is
a layer at the back of the eye containing cells that are sensitive to light, it triggers impulses through
the optic nerve. Rods and cones are specialized receptors which sense light and color. The macula
is an area about the diameter of a pencil head and is close to 100 times more sensitive to small
visual features than the rest of the retina. The central fovea is an area of the retina in the center of
the macula that has an extremely high resolution. The cranial nerve is responsible for nerve

Aesop s Fables
Introduction:
I chose to research the genre of fables, specifically Aesop s fables. I only informed of the basics
of fables. To be frank with you I don t even think there is much to know about fables. What is
there to know? They contain lessons, animals, and they are short. From time to time people use
them in their quotidian day to back up their opinions. Especially authority figures like parents,
teachers, and, well I can just think of those two. Personally I believe that Don t let things for the
last minute is their favorite one. Why haven t you done your homework? ... oh wait, that does not

What I love most about fables is that each one of them comes with a moral, the positive or negative
interpretation of a story that always leaves a life lesson. The reaction generated from a fable s
moral depends on the individuals knowledge about life; each person will interpret a moral
differently because each one has lived a different life. Fables are also carried on from generation to
generation and have a purpose that is to entertain. These short stories are made up with animals or
inanimate objects representing humans. Fables are used as a teaching tool for young children and
even for adults. According to some scholars Aesopcould have been African American because of
his many references to animals. ( Aesop Encyclopedia of World Biography, par 2). There are
many hypotheses on what or who Aesop could have been. There was also a rumor that he was a
slave and got free because of his extraordinary story telling abilities ( Aesop Encyclopedia of
World Biography, par 5). A fable is simply a synonym of allegory. Over the years fables have
maintained their position as a helpful tool to many teachers around the world to help students.
Fables continue to be very appealing to the public. They soon begun to disperse around the world
and started being translated in many languages. Considering my age, one of the fables that we,
teenagers, have to keep in

The Effect Of Metabolic Acidosis On The Body
The cause of acidosis in the body is when the kidneys and lungs do not maintain the balance
(proper pH level) of chemicals called acids and bases. It can either occur when bicarbonate (a
base) is lost or when acid builds up. Acidosis can be defined as either respiratory or metabolic.
Too much carbon dioxide (an acid) in the body leads to respiratory acidosis. When the body gets
into a situation where it is unable to remove enough carbon dioxide through breathing, it causes
respiratory acidosis. This kind of acidosis is also called hyper capnic acidosis and carbon
dioxide acidosis and could be caused by: chest deformities, such as kyphosis, Chest injuries,
chest muscle weakness, chronic lung disease and overuse of sedative drugs. The symptoms that
can be caused by respiratory acidosis are confusion, fatigue, lethargy, shortness of breath, and
sleepiness. Metabolic acidosis develops when too much acid is produced in the body. It can also
occur when the kidneys cannot remove enough acid from the body. There are several types of
metabolic acidosis: Hyperchloremic, Lactic and diabetic. Things that could cause acidosis are:
Dehydration, Aspirin poisoning and kidney disease. Diabetic acidosis (also called diabetic
ketoacidosis and DKA) develops when substances called ketone bodies(which are acidic) build up
during uncontrolled diabetes. The symptoms of metabolic acidosis symptoms depend on the
underlying disease or condition. The metabolic acidosis itself usually causes rapid

What Are The Main Features Of Local Government Act 1979
Provincial Local Government Ordinance 1979
This period marked the second wave of local government reform a military regime. The system of
local government introduced in 1979 by General Zia ul Haq was the most representative in nature
since independence. For the first time in the history of Pakistan, elections to all local councils in
both rural and urban areas were held simultaneously on the basis of adult franchise and under the
aegis of independent provincial election authorities.
Features of Provincial Local Government Ordinance:
The special features of the 1979 local government system can be described as follows:

The local bodies were vested with administrative, judicial and financial powers to make them
effective institutions.
They were authorized to get loans from national and international Banks to complete their plans for

D) There is generally no option to continue the lease at a rent lower than market value.
E) There is no arrangement such that the risks and liabilities involved with the ownership of the

From the above classification we can see that all the points indicate that the leases undertaken by
David Jones Ltd as a Lessee are Operating Leases or Finance leases and can be determined using
the steps above. Being such a big company, David Jones Ltd has both Operating and Financial
leases and they are taken mainly to run the firm s stores and warehouses. Under the annual report
for the half year ended 2013 it is clearly evident that the cost of leasing activities for David Jones
Ltd has increased by 4.17mn. Payments made under operating leases, where the lease agreement
includes predetermined fixed rate increases, are recognised in the Statement of Comprehensive
Income on a straight line basis over the term of the lease. Other operating lease payments are

The theme of the book Rocket Boys could be that people, especially kids should follow their
dreams in life. Following ones dreams can lead one to have a much better life than they would
normally have.
The intended audience I think that Homer Hickam was trying to direct this book to would probably
be kids who are having troubles in their life and struggling with what they should do for the rest
of their life. This book is, like I said before, about kids with dreams and fulfilling them. The
rocket boys are told what to do for the rest of their lives by many people, such as Homer Hickam
Sr. Homer s dad tells Sonny (Homer Hickam Jr.) in no uncertain terms that he should work in the

The Effect Of Reflex On Children s Health
Introduction:
Reflex can defined as an automatic and often inborn response to a stimulus that involves a nerve
impulse passing inward from a receptor to a nerve center and thence outward to an effector (as a
muscle or gland) without reaching the level of consciousness (Merriam Webster) or more simply
put an reaction to an action that our bodies do to return to homeostasis without us having to think
about it. Reflexes play an extremely important role in remaining healthy and protecting us from
being harmed without having to take the time to think about it. For example, infants have a suck
reflex that causes them to start sucking when the roof of their mouths are stimulated; this reflex
is obviously important because if infants did not have this reflex, they could die of starvation
since they would not be able to draw milk from their mother s breast (this is actually a problem
with premature infants as the suck reflex does not develop until between the 32nd and 36th week
of pregnancy) (Stanford Children s Health). There are two main types of reflexes the simpler
monosynaptic reflexes (or spinal reflexes) that can act without any input from the brain and the
more complex superficial reflexes which still requiring some processing from the brain. A reflex
consists of five main components, which as a group are called the reflex arc. Component one is the
sensory receptor, which receives stimulus and then sends an and impulse to the second component,
the afferent pathway. The

Ancient Egyptians On The Afterlife
The ancient Egyptians had specific views on the afterlife, which they showed in their art and

they would spend time and effort in constructing quality funerary objects. Funerary objects of
which those who were alive would be conscious of, especially since the objects were involved in
rituals the living would take part in. During the middle kingdom, Egyptians would do a

Leading Marines is the greatest resource that I have come across so far for guidance and
motivation in becoming a leader of Marines. In one neat sentence located in the forward, we are
given everything that sums up what is expected of future leaders of Marines: Our actions as
Marines every day must embody the legacy of those who went before us. Marines have a great
expectation to live up to, and as commissioned officers we must absolutely carry on the tradition of
excellent leadershipthat has come before us. This leadership comes in many forms under many
different conditions. As there are no two people who are exactly alike, there is no single way to

The second chapter of Leading Marines is titled Foundations. It lays out the foundation of every
Marine leader; it is a collection of the principles taught to all Marines. Our core values, and
Marine leadership principles make up the bulk of the chapter. Leadership is what makes men
take action against their most basic instinct of self preservation. Leadership is based not only on
the Marine ethos, but also on certain elements of leadership philosophy. The elements rely on

Academic Goals
I. Introduction: Growing up less affluent, I have always set goals for myself. Not long term goals
because being modest long term goals were unimaginable. I had to focus on today s goals which
were attainable. Mother always told me that competition is the key to success. Will, held on to that
belief until I got older and needed to rely on goals rather competition. Competition can only carry
you to a certain point; however, goalsetting is for a lifetime.
II. Thesis Statement: Goals setting is a greater predictor of academic success than competition,
goals provide a sense of purpose because it gives direction and increases motivation. III. Goals

the goal, the greater the motivation. Gigantic goals can become overwhelming so a break down
the larger goals into series of smaller goals (I will finish my first online with a greater sense
awareness)
E. Set timely goals: Setting realistic time frames for completing your goal will set you on a steady
pace of achieving your goal (I will complete 12.6 semesters each year until graduation).
V. The most import reason Goals provide a sense of purpose is because it gives direction A. The
grandstand of goal setting is directions because that is what gives you energy. When you have
direction it is less stress and strain in your life because it like having a road map you know where
you a going without guessing. You do not waste time going in circles and arriving nowhere.
B. With a clear cut goal, you know where you are heading and can always correct the course.
C. To change your life for the better, you must have the goal with directions. It like trying to fish
with no direction on how to cast you going to tangle your line. Every new year s, I would set a
goal to lose weight, but fail because I had no directions. I think that part of the problem was that I
had a wish to lose weight without a directional plan such as I will exercise twice a week, or not eat 3

Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U Vs. Super Smash Bros Melee
Super Smash Bros. is unlike anything the world had ever seen at the time of its release. Featuring
a different perspective to the fighting genre, Smash Bros. is a series which has changed the way
fighting games are seen. So whether your favorite game is Smash Bros. Melee or Smash Bros.
3DS/Wii U, everyone can agree that these games both have something interesting to bring to the
table. For those who do not know about the Smash Bros. franchise, here is a brief history.
Roughly 16 years ago Smash Bros. was released for a console called the Nintendo 64 by a company
known as Nintendo. Smash Bros. was an instant success and it revolutionized the fighting game

(This is very subjective given that some people see the game differently but in this particular
case characters have been analyzed to see the advantages one may have over another.) Take for
example the character Sheik. Sheik has a wide variety of tools at her disposal and can easily
defeat characters that come with many disadvantages. In fact the only problem with playing
Sheik is learning to truly master the character. Once you have Sheik down, you pretty much
have an advantage over any player you fight. When compared to Little Mac, who has a terrible
recovery, all Sheik has to do is cover Little Mac s recovery options and just like that, Sheik has
taken a dramatic lead. This great strength over weakness translates to most other characters and
boils down to a list of two types of characters: the insanely strong characters and the ones who
could use a few power

The Music Of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was an Austrian composer who mastered the range of contemporary
modern instrumental and vocal forms including the symphony, concerto, chamber music, and
especially in the opera.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756, in Salzburg, Austria. Mozart mom and
dad, stressed about the importance music to their children. Wolfgang received in depth musical
training that by the age of six he was a rising composer and a soon to be keyboard performer. In
1762 Mozart dad presented him as a performer at the imperial court in Vienna, Austria, and from
1763 to 1766 he lead both of his children on a continuous musical tour across.
Mozart was the most praised child prodigy of this time as a keyboard performer. He also made a
great impression as a composer. In London he won the admiration of musician Johann Christian
Bach and he was exposed from an early age to different variety of musical styles across Europe.
Although he had great musical ability, Mozart s lack of a normal childhood caused him much
suffering. During his youth, Mozart was constantly in the news and was extravagantly acclaimed
by all. He was well aware of his precious talent and developed an arrogant and overly confident
demeanor. He had little discipline and maturity outside the subject of music. Mozart frequently went
through periods of financial difficulty.
At age 4 Wolfgang himself began keyboard lessons playing without fault and with great sensitivity,
and by age 5 he was

Plate Tectonics Theory
The good thing about science is that it s true whether you believe in it or not, stated Neil Degrasse
Tyson. The Theory of Plate Tectonics is accredited to most of the creations of mountain ranges, the
Centennial Drifting Theory, earthquakes, and other landforms nature has made.
The idea of plate tectonics was formulated in the 1960s (Andel). Plate tectonics explains the origin
of Earth s surface features ( Plate Tectonics BrainPop). Alfred Wegner was just guessing about the
way plate tectonics were formed and no one believed him (Plate Tectonics). Scientists thought all
hills and uneven ground was due to the Earth shrinking. Scientists later found out that plates move
about 5 to 10 cm. per year. During the late 20th and early 21st centuries, researchers found out that
plate tectonics had influenced the composition of Earth s atmosphere and the oceans. After Wegner
died, his Theory of Pangea was proven correct due to further research on plate tectonics
(Kratochvil). Plate tectonics is also a prime cause of long term climate change (Andel). Plate
tectonics also give the rock cycle the ability to keep continuing. ( Plate Tectonics BrainPop)
Plates tectonics are very complex, they have many steps that make them work like they do. Plates
float on top of the mantle, it is the part of the earth between the core. The mantle starts to churn in
circular convection currents as they drag the tectonic plates along ( Plate Tectonics BrainPop). The
Earth s crust is split into

Home Sweet Home
How would you feel if you went into a business, to fill out an application for a job, and had to leave
the section blank that was asking for your address? I am sure that you might feel lost, sad, or
even embarrassed. On the other hand, how would you feel if you were able to fill in the section
asking for your address, but did not feel like you could call this place home? Maybe you would
have feelings of being alone, not loved, or not even cared about.

I strongly disagree and believe that if someone cannot consider their house a home, it has a lot to
do with the attitudes of those living in it. I also believe that a house is the place where most
teenagers remain until, at least, the age of eighteen because of not being able to afford their
own house. On the other hand, they all belong to a home where, whether or not they admit it,
they will always have a loving family to welcome them into their hearts. Many of them tend to
feel this way because as they grow older they begin to only think of themselves and become very
self centered or selfish. These feelings of selfishness usually do not change until teenagers begin
progressing into adulthood. If a teenager sees how their selfishness negatively affects their family
and they begin to change their ways, while still in their teenage years, this change is usually the
cause of a bad event that left them lonely and in the dark. This event could have been something
along the lines of tough love from family members which caused this person to look back on
events they regretted from the past and helped them to look forward to changing these actions for a
better future. Many of my friends complain about not being happy at home and how much they just
cannot wait to move out of the house. When I hear them complaining about this, the first thing that
comes to my mind is, igrave; How do you expect yourself to experience the true feeling of a home

Lord Byron And Childe Harold s Pilgrimage By Samuel Taylor...
If you want an inside glimpse into the man that Lord Byron was, all you need to do is pick up
some of his prose. In any of his pieces, there s a raw sense of emotion and vulnerability that no
other Romantic shows. William Blake wrote of nature and religion. William Wordsworth wrote of
the beauty of nature and how it made him feel in hindsight. Samuel Taylor Coleridge wrote of the
supernatural and a sense of peace that eventually fades away. All of those Romantic poets used a
piece of their life in their works, whether large or small, but not to the extent that Lord Byron did.
The way that Byron pours his personal life into the prose without overtly putting himself in there,
putting in emotion and internal dialogue without being too... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Another important part in Childe Harold s Pilgrimage, Byron unknowingly gives the first
glimpse into what would later be referred to as the Byronic Hero. The Byronic Hero is usually a
man who is smart and cunning. He s sophisticated, moody, and anti authority. He s an arrogant,
cynical exile who knew himself the most unfit Of men to heard with Man; with whom he held
Little in common (lines 100 102) and engages in self destructive behavior including sex, drugs,
and alcohol. He was Proud though in desolation; which could find A life within itself, to breathe
without mankind (lines 107 108) which shows that the Byronic hero did not need anyone else.
While this describes most of Byron s characters, it also describes clichГ©d love interests in
modern day teen novels and a classic trope in film and television. By describing himself and
drawing upon himself for inspiration, Byron created something so iconic and unwavering that,
very likely, will never die down. While Byron is himself the original Byronic Hero, other
Romantics did not follow his footsteps: a fever at the core, Fatal to him who bears, to all who ever
bore, (lines 377 378) most Byronic Heroes die relatively young, in a blaze of flames and rebellious
greatness. Blake and Wordsworth died at 70 and 80 years of age, respectively. Byron, however, died
at the age of 36 fighting in

Radioactive Waste Of Radioactive Wastes
INTRODUCTION
Radioactive waste contains radioactive substances, which are used for the production of nuclear
power and in other scientific fields such as nuclear fission or nuclear technology (Hidaka, Yuan, and
ebrary, 2012). Currently, although the use of radioactive materials has provided great benefits to
society, the radioactive waste issue has been widely discussed in terms of being a huge problem that
may affect natural environmental systems, and also human health (Ojovan Knovel, 2011).
According to Sartori (2013), efficient radioactive waste management systems are needed to provide
safe isolation from the contact with the ecosystem as long as necessary to reduce effects on
biological systems; and it involves many steps such as treatment, conditioning, transportation,
storage and disposal of all categories of radioactive wastes, including administrative, operational and
safety related actions (The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation ANSTO,
2011). It is known that radioactive waste management activities have to follow current regulations,
which are directly related to waste characterisation that involves radioactive waste classification.
Due to the importance of radioactive waste, this report addresses a literature review of the
management of radioactive waste.
RADIOACTIVE WASTE CLASSIFICATION
Currently, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been used as the main
organization for developing the classification of radioactive waste.

Dawit IsaskВґs Daughter Fight for Fairness Essay
After 12 years of Dawit Isaak s indefinite detention, his daughter Betlehem decided that enough is
enough. Betlehem was tired of the Swedish politicians who said that they were gonna help Isaak
but yet didn t do anything besides saying that they would. She also was tired of the Eritrean
government who had imprisoned Isaak without a trial. Betlehem was furious, she came to the
conclusion that nobody was gonna do shit for her and her family.
The only option left was to take the matter in her own hands. Betlehem was by this time only 20
years old but she was determined to get her dad out of prison or at least get him a fair trial.

The petition got 131,274 signatures and Bodström was forced to take this seriously, but as
expected he didn t do much. As previous Prime Ministers he didn t even visit Eritrea to meet with
the Eritrean government, all he did was to publicly speak about Dawit Isaak and that it s
horrible that a man can lose all his basic human rights for no apparent reason. His speech got
standing ovations from the 12,000 people who had come to Medborgarplatsen in Stockholm. But
besides a scripted speech that was made for Bodström to look good, nothing new happened
regarding Isaaks situation in Eritrea. Nobody even knew if he was alive anymore. There were
rumors surrounding that Isaak may have been beaten to death but Betlehem didn t listen to those
rumors. She knew deep down that her dad was a strong man and would survive.
Even though Betlehem and Jacob had got a little family of their own with 2 wonderful kids, the
hole after her dad was still huge. The 2 kids who were 4 and 2 years old had often wondered
where their grandfather was. This put a lot of pressure on Betlehem and Jacob, what was they
supposed to tell them? That a corrupt government had imprisoned their grandfather without giving
him a trial and that he was in solitary confinement? They stuck to the story that Dawit Isaak was on
a long vacation . Betlehem realized that nothing was gonna get done from

The United Farm Workers Association Improve The Conditions...
To what degree did the United Farm Workers Association improve the conditions of farmworkers in
California.
Introduction:
In 1910 mexicans fled from Mexico to work in agriculture in America, they labored in inhumane
conditions and the people they worked for ignored state laws on working conditions (Tavaana).
This is how the farm workers would work before the United Farm WorkersUnion came along.
They didn t have the rights they deserved, they were treated however the growers would like to
treat them because they would go around the law and do what they wanted. Farm workers didn t
have unions and the rights that they do now back in 1910. Research has been done on this topic
on how them migrating started, on how they were treated, and how it has gotten better over the
years. This topic is important because it discusses some of the history of Mexican immigrants. It
also demonstrates some challenges they went through when they came to the United States to find
work. My study of the topic is important because it will give some background information on
how the farm workers were brought and how they were treated. After I will bring in Cesar Chavez
and his contributions to helping the farm workers. Lastly I will be talking about his negative
contribution which isn t talked about that often and comparing it with the positive. My
investigation fits into broader questions in the subject because it is taking two different points of
views and comparing them to each other. I choose

Organizational Behavior Theory
1INTRODUCTION There are a few factors that determine an individual s well being as essential
as income. Income is paramount to live a sufficient lifestyle for self and those who are
dependent on us. Income is a stable aspect of job to the workers, organizations and the society in
general. Income has huge role to play in determining the behaviors, attitude and perceptions of
individuals in an organization and this can be a major driver of organization behavior. Using
utility theory, in particular the concepts of marginal utility and marginal rate of substitution the
author analyzes how the job satisfaction and wages of family employees differ from those of
regular employees. The objective is to infer that the family employees have more job satisfaction
than regular employees while receiving lower wages. Income can cause both positive and negative
affect work and family balance. The effects of income has not been widely discussed as one of the
major contributor to organizational behavior topic and instead topics such as monetary incentives
and pay for performance schemes have been documented exhaustively. Finally, some (e.g. Lea
Webley, 2006) have argued that the psychology of money is a visceral one, exhibiting similarities to
the effects of other visceral influences on human behavior such as hunger and thirst and, as
Loewenstein (1996) notes, visceral influences are often underestimated by individuals, partly
because people tend to forget how important they were in

The Changeable Nature of the Air Transport Market Essay
The Changeable Nature of the Air Transport Market
Introduction:
Throughout it s history, the air transport industry has frequently demonstrated adjustment to the
current demands and economical circumstances of the market through increased fuel prices,
multiple recessions and an increase in ASK s and RSK s (ASK = 1 seat flown 1km and RSK = 1
revenue paying customer flown 1km). This informal report will seek to outline some examples of
how the industry has adapted both in the cargo and passenger markets. These two broad markets
will be expanded into some significant subsections and, using recent examples, I will seek to
demonstrate how they adapt. Appendix A is a table displaying the areas that will be covered.
Passenger Transport: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of a codeshare was to allow multiple companies to sell seats on a flight without them
having to actually fly the route . New codeshares are constantly being created as airlines see
opportunities to increase frequency of flights to certain destinations. Recent codeshares have been
developed between JetBlue and Turkish Airlines , Sri Lankan and Finnair and US Airways and
British Airways .
Charter:
Charter airlines seek to either provide a high end business experience or a full holiday package to
customers. In recent years charter companies have lost consumers, particularly in the United
Kingdom, as can be seen in Appendix B. However, Thomas Cook and TUI, two of the largest
charter companies, have made some adjustments to try to create more interest. One method they
have employed to restructure their air capacity has been to reassign seats to a variety of sources,
through charter, scheduled and in house flights as shown in Appendix C.
Cargo Transport:
The next section of this report will focus on how cargo carriers have adapted to move with the ever
changing air transport industry.
Specialist Cargo:
At night, although passenger travel has been reduced to a minimum, companies such as Cargolux
take to the skies to move large quantities of cargo across the globe. The demand for this kind of
service and the number of FTK s (Freight Tons per Kilometer) has reduced steeply over the past
few years .

The inner workings of the post office enabled the postal service to have a wider communication
system. Strangers were allowed to communicate with each other easily by going to the post office

something that only men had done when the postal system had been an integral and fast system of
communication for the first time in American history. It also was a place of secrecy where
unexpected encounters might have occurred. It lead the public to fear over their privacy. Women
were more prominent to be uncomfortable by the masculinity that dominated the post office which

The Future Major And Potential Minors
In the past three weeks, I interviewed three full time faculty members across three different
disciplines. The primary goals of this assignment were to explore a variety of disciplines in order to
better understand your future major and potential minors and to introduce yourself to professors
from those fields.
Dr. Carenen, a history professor, originally intended to be a lawyer, but fell in love with history
as soon as she started taking upper history level classes. She went on to earn her PhD in European
History and then worked in the publishing industry before getting her PhD in American History.
She then decided to become a professor because she missed academia and loved to teach. As a

Dr. Carenen, as a professor, has taken up her own academic researchabout Jewish fundraising
during the First World War, and additionally wrote two books one about Israel called Fervent
Embrace, and another about terrorism. As far as creative activities go, students with history majors
participate in activities such as the History Club, which is planning a trip to Washington DC at this
time, and many of them also compete on the bowling team. Not to mention that global studies field
courses are offered, such as the trip to Israel, Jordan, and Palestine that will be taken this upcoming
spring. Finally, after graduation, students often attain careers as diplomats, lawyers, professors,
business analysts, etc. Graduate school is advised in most circumstances before heading off to
work. There, strong language and research skills and good relationships with professors are all
looked at.
Another faculty member, Dr. Brown of the economics department, also received the same interview
questions. She was initially a business administration major in college, but since she enjoyed math
as well, she was told to consider economics where the two fields would be more or less combined.
She thought that economics was interesting and the problems were challenging, and graduated as
an economics major before pursuing her PhD to become an economics professor. In this
department, students learn about

  • 2. Corporate Finance Programs Corporate Finance Programs Introduction In a company s operational activities, it is essential induce financial management in its organizational structure. All business operations center on the use of finances to incur profits that benefit the company employees, shareholders and their nation s economic society. This context digs into the conduction of both managerial and corporate finance. The executive finance deals with managerial implication on financial techniques used alongside pecuniary decisions made by the company besides other financial tools and analytical procedures through corporate finance. Among the techniques used are corporate valuation, value based management, corporate governance and EPOS (Employees Stock Ownership) plans. Corporate Valuation This is the evaluation of firm value strategies by forecasting on past financial statements; presenting values of cash flow stream strategies and choosing value maxima based on the appropriate strategic plan. A firm s stock is valued through different methods such as through the discounted dividend model. Corporate valuation is channeled alongside the corporate valuation model. It is a substitute to stock valuation. The model points out company s main operational and non operational assets as well as the total worth of firm value and growth (Ehrhardt and Brigham, 2008, pg 659). It is usually an alternative to discounted dividend models in determining firm value of companies with no history in dividend and its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Rhetorical Analysis Of Abraham Lincoln s The Gettysburg... In the nineteenth century, the United States of America existed as two separate entities at war with one another. Because the founding fathers left a pressing matter unaddressed and the government incomplete, the country they worked to establish fell into war with itself. In his speech The Gettysburg Address, Abraham Lincolndiscusses the goals of the founding fathers in establishing the United States. He implies another meaning to these goals to encourage the Union troops, those fighting to abolish slavery, to continue the fight. He also challenges them to honor their fellow soldiers who sacrificed their lives by continuing to fight. Lincoln utilizes the mission of the founding fathers and the recent fallen to encourage the unification of the nation. To establish the importance of unity, Lincoln reemphasizes the purpose of founding the nation; however, he implies a different meaning. In the context of the speech, Lincoln is encouraging the Union s troops to continue the fight for a united nation; the goal of the Union is to abolish slavery and establish equal rights. Lincoln redefines the founding father s statement that all men are created equal, (Lincoln, 2014, p. 115). He implies that this definition includes all men no matter the race, while the original purpose only included white men. The war that tore apart the nation was because of racial inequality. This definition aligns with the mission of the Union. Without an understanding of some form, the nation the founding fathers brought forth on this continent...conceived in Liberty, (Lincoln, 2014, p. 115) would cease to exist. Liberty means that nothing oppresses the nation; however, unequal rights for the citizens restricts this liberty. Therefore, the nation the founding fathers envisioned cannot exist while slavery exists. By reiterating and refocusing the mission of the founding fathers, Lincoln explains the reason for unification. Lincoln expands on the significance of the sacrifices the citizens recently made for the betterment of the nation. Lincoln gives The Gettysburg Addressstanding on the battlefield soldiers died on to dedicate the grounds as a memorial to them and to honor the sacrifices they made. While remembering the fallen, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Discuss The Aspects Of Jean Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive... Which aspects of Jean Piaget s theory of cognitive development have been empirically supported or refuted? Jean Piaget proposed his theory of cognitive development in his book The Origins of Intelligence in Children (1952). In this theory, he divided cognitive development into a series of stages and periods based on the fundamental assumption that children are mentally active from the moment of birth, a controversial concept at the time since it was previously believed that until a child could communicate that they were not mentally active. His theory can be described as constructivist, meaning that children construct knowledge themselves in response to their experiences. He based his theory primarily on interactions with his own children and additional interviews with other children yet has stood the test of time, remaining the most well known cognitive developmental theory, encompassing a diverse range of topics within children s development from the first days of infancy through to adolescence. Piaget argued that cognitive development involves both continuities and discontinuities. The three main sources of continuity are vital in driving development and work together from birth. The first process, assimilation, occurs when children integrate new information into their current knowledge (Santrock and Yussen, 1978). Secondly, accommodation is when children adjust to new information and enhance their current knowledge in response to new experiences, as defined by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Poverty Between Poverty And Poverty Essay Poverty in America is severe. One third of our population lives under the poverty line. The poverty line being a family of three or more surviving on $36,000 or less. This transfers to 20.5 million people. Seven million of these people being women with children. 6.7% of our population has an income less than 9,000 for a family of three. These numbers are astounding and they are only on the rise. This means that more families are going without food. This means more children are starving and getting sick and dying. One in four families are going without food. This is a huge problem. Everyone says that povertyis a problem but most people are ignorant to the fact that it is beyond our comprehension how big it is. Many think it is easily solved just by getting a job. Minimum wage is ten dollars. Most people living under the poverty line are working minimum wage and struggling to make ends meet. This now totals 103 million, meaning that one third of the population with an income of 36,000 for a family of three. Out of the 20.5 million, 6 million have no income at all other than food stamps. As Ronald Reagan s once said, we fought a war with poverty and poverty won. This problem is so common and widely spread that if you walk outside your door and drive ten minutes you will find a place where there are homeless people living without a shelter. Just driving to my local grocery store; two minutes away, there is a homeless camp in the parking lot not too far from the door. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Personal Narrative Essay Traped Traped It was a pleasurable day, striding down the hall in an enjoyable mood, but soon will be not. It was the very first basketball practice of the year, and I got to walk through the gym to get to practice. There were always a lot of people in the gym, so it s not easy to steer through. Lucky for me though, there were another set of doors at the end of the hallway, that would enter at the other side of the gym, and just walk straight. I thought I could just use the other doors to make it easier, when I was trying to get to practice. The gym was very crowded, so I tried using the other doors, but then got locked out. The gym was clustered with so many people playing basketball separately, just shooting and running around. It looked like if all the animals got out of their cages at a zoo and put in a... Attila s military success will be explained through his ability to lure the Romans into war on a pretext whenever the Romans were vulnerable. His motives behind each war was to abstract as much money from the Romans as possible. Also to be explored will be his ability to assert psychological domination over the Eastern Emperor at a time when the two Empires were at peace. Furthermore to be examined will be his ability to portray himself as diplomatic through treaties and embassy consultations between the Romans and the Huns. On the other hand, they may have been quite capable of such construction for it is well documented they had enslaved many tradesmen. As for example in the bath which was made for the Hunnic noble Onegesius by a craftsman who was captured at Sirmium. Nevertheless the Huns ransacked and pillaged the Balkans taking fortified cities along the way such as Viminacium, Illyricum and defeated the Roman army at Chersonese. According to Brian Croke, In 441 the Huns invaded Illyricum only and in 442 broke into northern Thrace . The Romans sued for peace and the Treaty of Anatolius was agreed. Attila terms demanded that the annual tribute be tripled to 2,100 pounds of gold. He also compelled the Romans to surrender all Hun deserters and to ransom their own deserters at a rate of twelve solidi each. The treaty, however, contained one provision that had no precedent. Attila forced the Romans to make an immediate payment of 6,000 pounds of gold. Attila s plan to force a war to bring about higher subsidies had worked. He would devastate the Balkans for a second time in 447 when he came looking for subsidies that were in arrears. • 8. The Case Study Of The Pfizer In summary of the Pfizer case study, the organization realized executives and key employees were spending 20 40% of their time on support work rather than knowledge work. In response, the company started a magic button process. When an employee would like to pass off the tasks that are monotonous or lack luster they can press the magic button . The tasks are assigned to individuals of an outside organization for completion. The result is an increase of employee productivity. Within my small organization 50% or more of my day is spend on power points, support documentation, and sales calls. Our resource pool is shallow being a startup and some day we will implement the magic button . The only aspect that I am uncomfortable with regarding outsourcing is using overseas labor when someone in the USA could perform the same job for a slightly higher price. Although the organization saves money in the short term, the economic strain by outsourcing overseas has long a long term impact on the local economy. The utilization of temp workers has become more prevalent with workforce globalization. Analyzing the organization for which I work and considering the structural implications the PfizerWorks approach would have on productivity, I will begin with work specialization. Work specialization is a key element of organizational design and refers to dividing work activities into separate job tasks (Robbins, Decenzo, Coulter, 2015). The organization I am working with ... Bio engineered foods are created with the insertion of a new gene into a plant or organism to change it s traits. This altercation of DNA produces new proteins that create this change. In order to better fill consumer demands and receive a larger profit, farmers use genetically modified crops to: help assure a longer plant life, improve nutrition in food, and resist certain herbicides. With these changes comes fault, after the plantation when this food hits the market there is no mandate for the labeling of genetically modified foods. As the dangers begin to pile the possibilities become dire, Many children in the US and Europe have developed life threatening allergies to peanuts and other foods. There is a possibility that introducing a gene into a plant may create a new allergen or cause an allergic reaction in susceptible individuals ... Extensive testing of GM foods may be required to avoid the possibility of harm to consumers with food allergies (4). It is obviously necessary that genetically modified foods be closer studied before they can be declared safe. Other risks pertain to consumer health, Many people believe that organically produced foods are, in some way, healthier than conventionally produced foods, and they seek out products that are labeled organic because organic agriculture shuns synthetic chemical pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers (2). It shouldn t be an issue if consumers want options, especially to stay healthy. Putting consumers at risk for the sake of not writing text on a label, isn t worth it. If genetically modified foods are so safe then why has it become an issue to label them? Without the mandatory labeling of these foods, this is a risk the consumer has no choice but to take. An even bigger drawback of bio engineered food is their effect on the environment. Not only can these foods effect humans, they effect nature and wildlife as well, B.t. toxins kill many species of insect larvae indiscriminately; it is not possible to design a B.t. ... • 10. Classroom Inclusion In The Classroom For the majority of educational history, students with disabilities are placed in segregated classrooms in order to protect them. However, recent controversy details the existence of increased negative impacts on classroom segregation. The importance of classroom inclusion falls under three main categories: mutual acceptance and equal treatment of students with disabilities in society, increased personality development in disabled students, and quicker development of crucial skills (Soponaru, Camelia, et al. 1). Overall, integrated classrooms appear to be effective, but many regular educationteachers lack the qualifications to properly instruct integrated classrooms. Even though some regular education teachers are qualified to teach integrated classrooms, regular education teachers with integrated classrooms need to be more thoroughly educated about special needs to ensure an optimal learning environment for all students. Regular education teachers with integrated classrooms need to be more thoroughly educated about special needs to optimize their teaching abilities. Recent advocacy for inclusion classrooms has left unqualified teachers instructing a range of students; which unfortunately leads to unfavorable learning environments. According to an interview with Mary Fair, a regular education teacher, it is common for a regular education teacher to be placed in a classroom without any prior knowledge on properly instructing children with special needs; the outcome is a ... • 11. LEEP And Why Is It Done What is a LEEP and why is it done? A LEEP is done when you have an abnormal cervical cancer screening result; it is one way of removing the abnormal cells from your cervix. Your gynecologists dose this by using a thin wire that acts like a scalpel. Electric current is passed through the loop, which cuts away a thin layer of the cervix. How is LEEP performed? The procedure should be done when you are not on your period so that the doctor can have a better view of your cervix. Most of the time LEEP is done in the doctor s office, this only takes a few minutes so you should be in and out. To have the procedure done you will be lying on you back with your legs in stirrups. Then the doctor will insert a speculum into your vagina in the same way as for a pelvic exam. A local anesthesia will be used so you don t feel pain. This will be given through a needle attached to a syringe. You are most likely going to feel a slight sting, then a dull ache or cramp. Then the loop is inserted into your vagina to the cervix. There will be different sizes and shapes of the loops that will be used. There is a small chance that you may feel faint during the procedure. If you do feel faint tell your doctor immediately.... The reason being that it will provide universal health coverage to everyone regardless of circumstance. An evaluation of ACA s influence on health care will be evaluated in this paper. The Cost of Health Care As the new healthcare law takes effect insurance premiums are expected to rise. On average for the last six years insurances premiums have gone up six percent per year. The average annual cost that employers pay to cover their employees is around $10,000 for each employee. Usually employees are responsible for 20 percent that total or $2000. The Effect on Quality According to Chaffee, Mason, and Leavitt (2007) this act provides coverage for up to 32 million of the 45 million uninsured by 2010. It prevents insurance companies from denying coverage to those with pre existing conditions and also inhibits these companies from removing coverage from people who develop serious illness (Open Congress, 2009). Moreover, it blocks insurance groups from applying annual and lifetime caps on coverage (Chaffee, Mason Leavitt, 2007). The mission of the ACA is to overhaul the inadequate health care system within the country by providing affordable and accessible health care to everyone. Compared to other wealthy countries, the United States ranks last in regard to the five indicators of high performing health systems access, quality, equity, efficiency, and health status. This act has the ability to markedly improve health care. Hence, average citizens embrace ACA because it enables them to receive coverage at an affordable cost. Likewise, many nurses welcome ACA because it ushers in several innovative health care programs that will enhance nursing practice and work environment (Hertel, 2011). The Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 allows nurses to focus on health care services as opposed to having to battle with insurance companies regarding coverage. It allows more time to be spent in the delivery of care, rather than focusing on the financial aspect. This bill improves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Validity Of Social Exchange Theories Social Exchange theory Theories are defined as a belief, policy, or procedure proposed or followed as the basis of action (Theory, n.d.). The theory that I researched is the social exchange theory. Defined as interpreting people s social interactions that are based on estimates of rewards and punishment. The research indicates that the theory is valid. I will go further in to depth. This theory is relevant in many peoples lives. Let me explain in a scenario. A man named Johnathan was shopping for a graduation gift for his best friend Anna. He spent days trying to find a suitable gift to give. After days, he finally found the perfect gift. The gift cost a lot of money to get and he felt proud of it. Later, at graduation, he gave Ann the amazing gift, and wondered what he would get from her. Franklin opened the interpretation of the South to alternate voices, and gave a firm framework on establishing the different perspectives relevant for Woodward s experiential not one South thesis. The points of contention between their interpretations are telling about Southern histories, and their reputations evidenced the lingering effects of institutionalized racism, as Woodward often gets credit for opening Southern history to African Americannarratives. However, it was Franklin that did it first and allowed for agency, while Woodward s narratives most featured black victimization /victimhood. Despite some differences in interpretation, Franklin and Woodward would become two of the most influential historians of the twentieth century. • 18. The Relationship Between Human Relations And Public Relations Human relations refers to everything we do with, for, and to each other as citizens and as human beings (Dempsey, 2014, pg. 330). An example is officers integrating ongoing training initiatives for departments to establish respect within communities, regardless of color, ethnicity, economic status or sexual orientation. Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds strong relationships between the public and organizations. The public relations approach reflects efforts to improve the public s perception of the police, by informing the public why departments and officers do what they do and enhancing their public image as first responders and community helpers. Community relations really ties both human relations and public relations together. Communities rely on police departments to protect and serve and the police, in turn, rely on community support and cooperation, but the relationship is not always harmonious (RAND, 2017). They could be either negative or positive, depending on the type of interaction. An example of this is by taking active interests in the community problems, participating in local government, or simply going to youth activities such as middle/high school events. Involvement in community programs and neighborhood projects can bring the citizens together with police by creating a purpose to build unity and show a more personable side of the police. 2.Discuss the rapid increase in the minority population and the challenges it presents for law enforcement in communities that have not previously faced this issue. Wassily Kandinsky Research Paper Research Paper: Wassily Kandinsky Shelby Steinbach Des Moines Area Community College April 2017 Wassily Kandinsky has been part of my fascination and love for art for approximately ten years now. Beginning when I was a freshman in high school, and every year as part of our art classes, my instructor would do small units on art theory and highlight artists throughout those units, Kandinsky included. While my talents, in particular, are somewhat limited to what I can represent, Kandinsky was the first to break Western art s most important rule: that art need to depict anything (Frank, 396). As the first to break away from art being representational, Kandinsky opened other avenues of expression, as well (Wassily Kandinsky.org). Surrealism, the movement I am most fascinated by, is something I believe is a natural extension from art representing nothing, to art representing multiple things. Okonkwo is native to the Umuofia tribe and represented this oversized human being who with holds no emotion. All this makes Okonkwo seem very unrelatable and unfriendly, but this is what makes his relationships with the characters in the book so entertaining. For example, Okonkwohad a very negative connection with his father that affected him so much that it brought him to the point where it changed his life and is also the reason why he is so strict with his kids. With the introduction of these missionaries into the tribe, it completely changed the way the tribe acted and ended up bringing Okonkwo to a point where he had to pay the ultimate price. It was all because they couldn t get along. The most influential person in Okonkwo s life both negatively and positively was his father because of the way he changed Okonkwo. The relationship he had with his father was what gave him the motivation to work harder and try and become a leader of the Umuofia tribe. Okonkwo did not like his lazy father because of how little he had done for his family and himself. Okonkwo s goal was to be the opposite of his father and to teach his kids not to be like his father. Achebe writes: But in spite of these disadvantages, he had begun even in his father s lifetime to lay the foundations of a prosperous future. It was slow and painful. But he threw himself ... Gender also plays a role because men are three to five times more likely to be diagnosed with either antisocial disorder or psychopathy disorder including 6% of men, and 2% of women (Werner, Few, Bucholz, 2015). Even forensic data shows a higher prevalence between male psychopathy and antisocial disorders than their female counterparts. The Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual (PDM) stresses the underlying psychodynamic aspects which does not focus on the antisocial behavior as much as a preoccupation with interpersonal power (Juni, 2014). Hence the field has no unique subject matter. The collective behavior perspective is thought to apply to all behavior and no unique concepts, theories or methods are needed to understand it, apart from general sociological concepts. If we were starting fresh we could certainly find a better name for the field and perhaps a more logical way of dividing it up (although this could be said of most intellectual fields). The term collective behavior does not have much literal meaning since strictly speaking it includes any group behavior. Yet once established, intellectual traditions are slow to change. The initial definitions of knowledge and questions in this field still exert a powerful hold. Courses and books usually contain the words collective behavior. Critics of this field raise important issues, but as in Kipling s fable of the blind persons and the elephant (where each person correctly identifies a separate part, but all fail to see the whole animal), we think there is a broad logic uniting the field. The logic involves emergent group behavior in settings where cultural guidelines are non specific or lacking, inadequate, or in dispute. B. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It can either occur when bicarbonate (a base) is lost or when acid builds up. Acidosis can be defined as either respiratory or metabolic. Too much carbon dioxide (an acid) in the body leads to respiratory acidosis. When the body gets into a situation where it is unable to remove enough carbon dioxide through breathing, it causes respiratory acidosis. This kind of acidosis is also called hyper capnic acidosis and carbon dioxide acidosis and could be caused by: chest deformities, such as kyphosis, Chest injuries, chest muscle weakness, chronic lung disease and overuse of sedative drugs. The symptoms that can be caused by respiratory acidosis are confusion, fatigue, lethargy, shortness of breath, and sleepiness. Metabolic acidosis develops when too much acid is produced in the body. It can also occur when the kidneys cannot remove enough acid from the body. There are several types of metabolic acidosis: Hyperchloremic, Lactic and diabetic. Things that could cause acidosis are: Dehydration, Aspirin poisoning and kidney disease. Under the annual report for the half year ended 2013 it is clearly evident that the cost of leasing activities for David Jones Ltd has increased by 4.17mn. Payments made under operating leases, where the lease agreement includes predetermined fixed rate increases, are recognised in the Statement of Comprehensive Income on a straight line basis over the term of the lease. Other operating lease payments are expensed as incurred. Lease incentives received are recognised in the Statement of Comprehensive Income as an integral part of the total lease expense and spread over the lease term. Treatment of Leases The determination of whether an arrangement is or contains a lease is based on the substance of the arrangement and requires an assessment of whether the fulfilment of the arrangement is dependent on the use of a specific asset or assets and whether the arrangement

Homer s dad is the manager of the mine. Homer doesn t receive much appreciation from his father. Homer sees on television the launch of the satellite sputnik, and after seeing this he is driven to be a part of the space race. He convinces some of his friends to help him build a rocket. The theme of the book Rocket Boys could be that people, especially kids should follow their dreams in life. Following ones dreams can lead one to have a much better life than they would normally have. The intended audience I think that Homer Hickam was trying to direct this book to would probably be kids who are having troubles in their life and struggling with what they should do for the rest of their life. This book is, like I said before, about kids with dreams and fulfilling them. The rocket boys are told what to do for the rest of their lives by many people, such as Homer Hickam Sr. Homer s dad tells Sonny (Homer Hickam Jr.) in no uncertain terms that he should work in the mine. Homer junior had other plans for his life and acts upon them. The author Homer Hickam seems to write with many different styles. He is descriptive in his writing, just not very descriptive. He will describe something with some depth but I felt that he lacked something to be a perfect descriptive writer. For example, he didn t describe his house very well; I had to put my own picture of it in my head and had to frequently change it to match what he had in the book. He is very analytical though. He seems to think things through before he states them; he is very logical in his writing and likes to make sure everything he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Effect Of Reflex On Children s Health Introduction: Reflex can defined as an automatic and often inborn response to a stimulus that involves a nerve impulse passing inward from a receptor to a nerve center and thence outward to an effector (as a muscle or gland) without reaching the level of consciousness (Merriam Webster) or more simply put an reaction to an action that our bodies do to return to homeostasis without us having to think about it. Reflexes play an extremely important role in remaining healthy and protecting us from being harmed without having to take the time to think about it. For example, infants have a suck reflex that causes them to start sucking when the roof of their mouths are stimulated; this reflex is obviously important because if infants did not have this reflex, they could die of starvation since they would not be able to draw milk from their mother s breast (this is actually a problem with premature infants as the suck reflex does not develop until between the 32nd and 36th week of pregnancy) (Stanford Children s Health). There are two main types of reflexes the simpler monosynaptic reflexes (or spinal reflexes) that can act without any input from the brain and the more complex superficial reflexes which still requiring some processing from the brain. A reflex consists of five main components, which as a group are called the reflex arc. Component one is the sensory receptor, which receives stimulus and then sends an and impulse to the second component, the afferent pathway. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Theory of Plate Tectonics is accredited to most of the creations of mountain ranges, the Centennial Drifting Theory, earthquakes, and other landforms nature has made. The idea of plate tectonics was formulated in the 1960s (Andel). Plate tectonics explains the origin of Earth s surface features ( Plate Tectonics BrainPop). Alfred Wegner was just guessing about the way plate tectonics were formed and no one believed him (Plate Tectonics). Scientists thought all hills and uneven ground was due to the Earth shrinking. Scientists later found out that plates move about 5 to 10 cm. per year. During the late 20th and early 21st centuries, researchers found out that plate tectonics had influenced the composition of Earth s atmosphere and the oceans. After Wegner died, his Theory of Pangea was proven correct due to further research on plate tectonics (Kratochvil). Plate tectonics is also a prime cause of long term climate change (Andel). I also believe that a house is the place where most teenagers remain until, at least, the age of eighteen because of not being able to afford their own house. On the other hand, they all belong to a home where, whether or not they admit it, they will always have a loving family to welcome them into their hearts. Many of them tend to feel this way because as they grow older they begin to only think of themselves and become very self centered or selfish. These feelings of selfishness usually do not change until teenagers begin progressing into adulthood. If a teenager sees how their selfishness negatively affects their family and they begin to change their ways, while still in their teenage years, this change is usually the cause of a bad event that left them lonely and in the dark. • 53. Organizational Behavior Theory 1INTRODUCTION There are a few factors that determine an individual s well being as essential as income. Income is paramount to live a sufficient lifestyle for self and those who are dependent on us. Income is a stable aspect of job to the workers, organizations and the society in general. Income has huge role to play in determining the behaviors, attitude and perceptions of individuals in an organization and this can be a major driver of organization behavior. Using utility theory, in particular the concepts of marginal utility and marginal rate of substitution the author analyzes how the job satisfaction and wages of family employees differ from those of regular employees. The objective is to infer that the family employees have more job satisfaction than regular employees while receiving lower wages. Income can cause both positive and negative affect work and family balance. The effects of income has not been widely discussed as one of the major contributor to organizational behavior topic and instead topics such as monetary incentives and pay for performance schemes have been documented exhaustively. Finally, some (e.g. Lea Webley, 2006) have argued that the psychology of money is a visceral one, exhibiting similarities to the effects of other visceral influences on human behavior such as hunger and thirst and, as Loewenstein (1996) notes, visceral influences are often underestimated by individuals, partly because people tend to forget how important they were in ...
