A Short Note On The Atlantic Bluefin Tuna
Thunnus Thynnus, or the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, is one of the largest species of tuna, weighing in
at over 600 kilograms and four meters in length. It is known for its speed and takes the shape of a
torpedo. In its environment, the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna acts as one of the top predators. It preys on
smaller fish, such as herring, mackerel and eels. The Atlantic Bluefin Tunais separated into two
main populations, Eastern and Western. Although located in different geographical areas they are
not isolated and individuals migrate between the two populations allowing gene flow. The Atlantic
Bluefin Tuna s population ranges all through the pelagic zone of the Atlantic. The Western Atlantic
population spawns in the Gulf of Mexico, and the Eastern Atlantic population spawns in the
Mediterranean Sea. In the fishing industry it is highly coveted for sports fishing, especially in the
United States and Canada, and in the sashimi market for high end sushi. As a result of the high
demands for the Tuna it is being heavily overfished causing the population to decline dramatically.
The low supply and high demand for the Tuna has made them extremely valuable; a single fish in
Tokyo s Tsukiji fish market sold for 1.76 million dollar (Bluefin, 2013). This high value of the
Atlantic Bluefin Tuna has resulted in illegal pirate fishing causing more harm to the population. If
the illegal pirate fishing and overfishing of the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna continues, the species will
become extinct resulting

Mathematical Analysis of Point Scoring in Tennis
AIM OF THE EXPLORATION
Way of scoring in Tennis makes it a different from other games. The unique point is that the
scoring at the point level is not cumulative and hence, it is possible for a player scoring less points
than her or his opponent to win a match. In this portfolio, we will explore
пѓ How to construct a probabilistic model for a tennis match in which the probabilities of winning
points are used to analyze the probability of winning matches.
пѓ Charts, which will illustrate the consequences of this model and some numerical results are
highlighted to indicate how raw match data might be used to indicate how a player might improve
her or his game.
пѓ The concept of a big shot is examined within this model and the possibility of a big shot
turning a losing game into a winning game is addressed. INTRODUCTIONOne of the advance
developments which supplements to television commentary for tennis matches is the computer
analysis of the results from charting of matches. Charting is the facility that the computer
provides to create, tabulate, and cross referencing data from the charts has made information
easily accessible. The computer can make use of the charts to provide information on the progress
of a match or data for analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of a player over several or many
matches. The basic question that follows is How players can put the data to their best use? How
well does a player have to play to get a big point?

U.s. President Barack Obama
Well, it is official. Thousands of American soldiers will stay on in Afghanistan after 2016. US
President Barack Obama halted the troop drawdown on October 15 because Afghan forces are still
not as strong as they need to be.
This major policy U turn means US combat forces will stay 9800 strong throughout 2016 and
reduce to 5500 men by the time Obama leaves office. This was not the plan. The plan was to keep
an embassy level force behind after 2016, or around 1000 men. The Talibanseizing Kunduz briefly
in September ruined this plan, or so says the White House.
Contrarian news sources, however, are pitching more sinister reasons for the about face. They say
the CIA persuaded Obama to stay camped in Afghanistanfor financial reasons. The spy agency
allegedly traffics Afghan heroin valued in the billions to bankroll its covert operations around the
world.
Add to that Afghanistan s one trillion dollars worth of proven gas and mineral reserves and you
can see why Washington insiders are keen to continue this profit driven resource war, says Prof
Michel Chossudovsky from the Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG).
Normally, you would dismiss such talk as conspiratorial mumbo jumbo, but the tactical futility of
Obama s decision raises many questions. For one, nothing will change on the ground. This is not a
surge. American forces will keep to their training and advisory role. Of course, if 9800 American
soldiers could not prevent Kunduz from falling in September, how

Modern Judaism And Traditional Judaism Essay
There are a fair amount of differences between modern and traditional Judaism. As this is the
case it is only natural that many well known people in all walks of life can be considered modern
Jews. This distinction is very important because as more famous people practice a more modern
Jewish culture and lifestyle, more of the younger generations of the world quickly follow suit. Not
only is modern Judaismaccommodating towards modern scholarship, science, culture and a
general modernity of the world, it goes as far as even welcoming it. This is because modern
Judaism takes a fairly inclusive stance towards all that modern society has to offer and provide.
(Waxman, 1993) In modern Judaism, interaction with different culture and knowledge is
encouraged, not for the sake of facilitating the Torah as it is in the traditional Judaism but for the
sake of the person, as this outside knowledge is seen to be part of a larger truth. (Elias, 1960)
With these general distinctions between traditional and modern Judaism, it is easy to find
examples of people in popular culture who fit into the classification. One person who could be
argued to be a good example of a modern Jew someone who takes part in life outside of Jewish
culture and welcomes with open arms modernity is Woody Allen. As an 80 year old man, Allen has
had to struggle with the shift from traditional to modern Judaism and create a mixture (or lack
thereof) that works for him. As an individual tying his whole life to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electricity, Heating And...
Electricity, Heating Water Electricity, heating and water consumption can be substantial costs,
which you need to monitor and preferably compare with local standards, so you get a notion of any
exaggerated usage. In addition, consider that children unaware of cost will consume more than
adults, i.e. teach them to save on electricity, heating water. When they are children, invent games
that teach them the right attitude, e.g. reduce the greenhouse effect and help avoiding that the polar

They found that women are worst at this, but are also better at selling the clothes again. One of
the causes are impulse buys, therefore, a remedy would be avoid sales, window shopping, outlet
visits or browsing the internet shops for ideas, when not having anything better to do. Instead,
prepare a shopping list in advance and stick to it, e.g. only buy the new trousers you actually
need. Another way to reduce impulse buys is; leave the debit cards at home when you are
shopping and bring cash instead, which may be harder to spend; the cost becomes real. In
addition, it is also easier to limit the amount you put in your pocket in advance. Some claim that
it is possible to dress nicely for everyday and parties for little money. The straightforward solution
would be buying clothes and shoes in the supermarket, but you can actually buy fashion and
branded clothing at decent prices on the internet. The internet offers several advantages; a large
selection, buy with a few clicks when you have the time and have it delivered at your door.
However, the interesting advantage of online shopping is that you can often find attractive offers.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Analysis
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, known as OCD, is considered a constant fear or worrying
aspect (obsessions) that includes the frequent repetition of behaviors to reduce anxiety
(compulsions). Some of the common symptoms include excessive washing or cleaning, repeated
actions such as opening and closing the door or even the light switch a number of times before
entering or leaving a room. Intelligence is not an issue as more people with OCD tend to
possess an above average IQ. Obsessive compulsive disorder affects children and adolescents, as
well as adults (one third to one half of adults with OCD report a childhood onset of the disorder).
Treatment for OCD involves the use of behavioral therapy as this involves increasing exposure to

chronic, disabling condition. It in turn affects both the patients and their respected families. This
article calls to attention that not all patients respond fully and how family accommodation
specifically influences pediatric patients with OCD. It raises the question if there are improved
outcomes based on family accommodations. With that being said, the study investigates the
association between family accommodation and treatment outcome in a relatively large sample of
pediatric patients with OCD participating in cognitive behavioral therapy. The outcome regards
how effective the treatment actually was and what impact it had. The prediction is that the majority
of parents would report family accommodations of their child s symptoms and that family
accommodation would be seen as positively related to ratings of child OCD impairment. In turn, the
level of family accommodation would decrease following cognitive behavioral therapy participation
and post treatment levels of family accommodation would be

What Role Does Religion Play In Hamlet
As a shadow approached Marcellus, Barnardo, and Horatio, they questioned the state of their
country and the unfortunate circumstances regarding Hamlet. The ghost, originally a catholic idea,
was presented as an uncertain character is used to symbolize the development of the revenge plot,
delay of Hamlet s actions, and foreshadowing of death. The ghostdid not simply introduce an idea of
revenge, it also represented the unpleasant idea which at the time was popular: revenge. When the
ghost approaches Hamlet, it lures him to create a private conversation between them. The ghost told
Hamlet, Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder, and led Hamlet in a direction that shifted his
purpose in life from mourning to objective revenge (Shakespeare,... Show more content on

Seeing ghosts in any tradition is an omen of something negative. Marcellus directly said,
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark (Shakespeare, Act 1, Scene 4). As a tragedy, death is
certainly one of the many themes of Hamlet. The ghost, a dead person s soul, tells Hamlet that his
father s death was caused by his uncle. By suggesting revenge as a way to fix his father s sins, the
ghost s dialogue foreshadows the death of the Claudius. Given the circumstances of the public
agreeing to usurp of the throne, Hamlet s unusual behavior, and involvement of outside characters,
Hamlet s journey to seek vengeance will include the death of other characters. The ghost acted as
the firebrand that initiated a series of deaths by simply suggesting the death of one individual:
Claudius. Without much effort, Hamlet is persuaded to avenge his late father and unknowingly take
his own life. Marcellus statement ultimately became the truth after the death of both Claudius and
Gertrude, Hamlet s mother, and some other uninvolved characters like Ophelia and Polonius. The
ghost did not only complicate the entire story of Hamlet, it also developed the theme of revenge
and Hamlet s delay of vengeance. However, it can be inferred that if the character of the ghost was
not included in the story, then the story of Hamlet would not have happened. In the process

The Political Frame Essay
Buck Morss argues in The Political Frame that those societies claiming to be democratic often
operate with power out of control of the masses. This wild zone is above the law, because it is a
function of the state that makes the law. This relates to Buck Morss next point on the issue of
sovereignty and legitimacy of a state.
According to the nation state societies, the state monopoly on violence is legitimate because it is
operated by legislation. The laws are written by those elected by the people, therefore popular
sovereignty and popular will are the same. However, this fails to explain the violence and is an
unsteady point. The state is both defender and creator of law, and therefore shifts that power
towards itself. According to the class warfare model, the violence is explained by the revolution
and the constant struggle between classes. This, however, does not explain its legitimacy.
According to Marx, the secret exercise of class of interests cannot be the basis of legitimacy. ...

A source of legitimacy is the right to wage war because of all that war entails: an enemy and
violence, namely. By defining an enemy, the state brings a collective into being. Buck Morss
notes the war powers rights during times of crises, where the enemy is seen as dangerous enough
to develop the wild zone, that part of democracy removed from the people. Any challenge to the
collective status quo is therefore an act against the collective and an enemy action. Therefore, the
display of violence is a legitimate expression of democratic sovereignty despite the inherently non
democratic nature of the exercise. According to Buck Morss, war risks the life or death of the
collective itself. Therefore, the nondemocratic power is stronger in

they say Based on comics from the 1960s and 70s, Prater argues that the more recent films
disempower the female X men, while trying to claim an alibi for this sexist representation.
It is an interesting view, highlighting how passive the audience becomes to hegemonic beliefs in a

What Waterhouse Watson and Kendal (2012) were stating, about the X Men film franchise, also

Stricter Media Regulations
With the rise of new technologies, there is certain debates on whether or not media regulations are a
good or a bad thing. There are benefits and consequences for both sides. In a sense, regulations are
an essential element in our society. Every time there is a new technology, regulations must be made
in order to create rules that influencers and organizations must follow. Stricter media regulations
means would protect public interests, protect individual rights, insuring fair competition, and
censoring violent and innappropriate material.

When I read both Anne Bradstreet s poems, The Prologue and Contemplations I realized that she

Childhood Obesity And Its Effects On The United States Today
Introduction With the recently documented increases in prevalence s dating as late back as to
1980, pediatric obesity now represents one of the most pressing nutritional problems facing
children in the United States today. International population studies report comparable rates of
increase, so that if current trends remain unchecked, childhood obesity is likely to challenge
worldwide public health. Substantial consequences to physical and mental health, both short and
long term, must be anticipated. Unfortunately, there is no uniform definition of childhood
obesity. Childhood obesity has been variously described by absolute weight , triceps skinfolds ,
weight for height percentiles, percent of ideal body weight and, most recently, by body mass
index (BMI weight in kg=height in meters squared). Although these measures reflect slightly
different aspects of body composition or body size, they are moderately well correlated with
body fat, even in growing children. In addition to the lack of consistency in the anthropometric
measure , the degree of obesity varies from study to study; however, for the majority of studies, a
BMI greater than either the 85th or 95th percentile, or a weight for height greater than 120% of
ideal was considered obese. Although for most children, complications of childhood obesity do not
become apparent for decades, the metabolic consequences of obesity may be already evident in
young children. Even a young child, if severely obese, can suffer serious

This aspect of Bartleby s heroism affects the story by developing a new theme to the story and
developing the character of the narrator who is part of the story as the boss to Bartleby. It
develops the theme of association between chronometrical time and the world of the spirits. It
also changes the character of the narrator because he develops a new attitude towards time, and
the world of spirits, which changes his normal way of belief. The narrator of the story becomes
shocked when he discovers that Bartleby, who only feeds on ginger nuts, has never left the
office. This is actually the first time that the narrator experiences the spiritual power that Bartleby
possesses. The narrator is so much business oriented that he only looks at the world in terms of
profits. However, when he encounters this aspect of the spirit of Bartleby, his attitude towards life
changes. He begins appreciating the fact that Bartleby deserves better treatment, not in the
capitalist way. The narrator even sees what is a right, just as an asset, but this perception is later
changed by Bartleby s spirit: What earthly right have you to stay here? Do you pay any rent? Do
you pay my taxes? Or is this property yours? (Melville, 41). The perception of the narrator, of
everything including rights of Bartleby as assets prevents the narrator from understanding the
spiritual aspect of the pride in Bartleby. Although the narrator

Analysis Of The Biography Devin Booker
Devin Booker was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on October 30, 1996. He was born to
Melvin Booker and Veronica Gutierrez. His father, Melvin Booker, was named the 1994 Big
Eight player of the year while point guard at the University of Missouri. Booker was in Michigan,
while his father was pursuing a professional career overseas. Devin visited his father two months
out of the year while he was on summer break. At an early age, Devin was taught by his father that
having a basketballIQ was more important than natural athleticism.
While Devin was in Michigan, he had played for the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity basketball
teams at Grandville High School, in Grand Rapids. But Booker then moved to Mississippi, to live
with his father, after his retirement from professional basketball. He had then enrolled into Moss
Point High School, where his father was an assistant coach, in August of 2011. Early on Booker
was a high school standout. As a sophomore he had developed into one of the best guards in the
coastal area of the gulf. He had averaged 22.7 points per game. He also had been drawing interest
in Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Georgetown, Florida, Georgetown, Alabama, and Missouri. Later
that season Devin scored 54 points in the MLK shootout.
With Devin s sophomore season now over, it was now time for his junior campaign. With most of
Moss Point s experienced players graduating, Devin switched to the point guard position for his
junior season. But later in the season

Autonomic Cloud Application And Services
Autonomic Cloud Application and Services Abstract Clouds are large scale, complex systems. This
makes the management of resources a challenging job. The heterogeneous distributed system
requires intelligent strategies to provision resources. These strategies can be automated for efficient
performance. Resources provided must be secure, cost efficient and reliable. Therefore effective
management of Clouds providing services in software platforms becomes fundamental. This paper

These private environments are made accessible via the Internet. Cloud computing provides
services such as software (applications), platforms and infrastructures with a subscription based
in a pay as you go model. These services are generally referred as Software as a Service (SaaS),
Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). Real time service providers
like Amazon, HP and IBM have Cloud data centers worldwide. These centers support end user
applications ranging from online healthcare to generic text processing software. Ones the
application is available in the Cloud, the client can access from anywhere at any time. Users will
require a form of networked device like a desktop or a smart phone. The Cloud system increases
the application speed for the client. This is achieved by using the processing power of the virtual
computers on the back end. However, it is a challenging task to deliver a secure, cost efficient and
reliable service. Management of a Cloud infrastructure that is elastic and large scale is another
issue. The Cloud needs to exhibit autonomic properties and co optimization at multiple layers

Prevention Of The Anti Vaccination Movement
Coughs, headaches, aches and pains, fever, or runny noses are all common symptoms. They are
symptoms that can lead to anything from the common cold to a deadly viral infection. It is
because of this that vaccinations are a fundamental part of society and why doctors and parents
alike advocate for hand washing, hydrating, and staying home when you are ill. Disease
prevention is a corner stone in today s society and has been one for around 200 years since;
Edward Jenner created and administered the first smallpoxinoculation. However, while always
controversial the last few centuries have proved to lend unfounded credence to the anti vaccination
movement. Due to the publication of faulty studies along with spiritual and even political beliefs
vaccinations have gone from being viewed as a well respected and endorsed medical procedure to a
breeding ground for further infections and possible physical and mental impairments.
Vaccination, autism, and bowel disease will be forever linked together due to Dr. Andrew
Wakefield. Wakefield published a study in 1998 on twelve patients whom he said proved that
vaccinations could cause autism along with gastrointestinal disease. However, in this study he
altered and misrepresented all the study participants medical histories and in doing so impacted
medicine and public health for the foreseeable future (Cohen). Although the study was proven false
within a year and Wakefield was stripped of his medical license individuals still

This is the time of when I tried fried pickles. We went to eat at Slim Chickens. What I thought was
my favorite foods put together making a disgusting combo turned out to be one of my favorite
foods. I thought that bread and pickles should not have gone together but someone on this earth
thought they did so the squished them together and called them fried pickles. It all started after
church when our stomachs were grumbling to be fed. My parents had suggested to eat at Slim

Similarities Between O Brother Where Art Thou And The Odyssey
Have you ever come across a movie or book that are strangely similar but in their own ways? The
movie O Brother Where Art Thou is based on The Odyssey and has many parallels that make it
connected to The Odyssey. For example, the themes, protagonists and antagonists, conflict, and
lyrical elements are some of the things that make these two stories similar. In O Brother Where Art
Thou and The Odysseythe theme of needing people in your life that you can count on is a constant.

Another Lyrical Element is the Sirens in The Odyssey who have beautiful voices that try to lure
sailors to their deaths. Odysseus made his men plug their ears and tie him to the mast of the ship

Role Of Theatre And Musical Theatre
Theatre and Musical Theatre has been a form of entertainment since before North America was
discovered . Broadway shows have been dated back to the early 1920 s and 1930 s. By 2016,
over 25,000 tickets are sold to Broadway shows in a week. Thousands of people enjoy the shows
that are featured on Broadway but have no idea the work and process that brought it to life. The
process of getting a show on to Broadway can be broken down into three phases: pre production,
staging, and performance/promotion. The first stage of a show is pre production. Every show
starts as merely an idea. This idea can come from all kinds of sources. In the beginning,
Broadway shows started one of two ways; a producer who hired a creative team or a creative
team who found a creative team to back it. Nowadays, it is increasingly getting harder for
songwriters, lyricists, etc. to get a show produced. Contrary to popular belief, many writers send
in just an idea and a brief excerpt when trying to get produced. Hundreds of wannabe writers
send their ideas to producers only to get a rejection letter. Many composers don t fully commit to
finishing writing a show until a producer has committed. As American composer and songwriter,
Cole Porter once said, My sole inspiration is a telephone call from a director. Whether it be an
idea from a producer, a creative team, or an unknown writer, there is no show without serious
commitment from a producer. After a show has been finished and has found a producer, it

Batman The Killing Joke
Batman: The Killing Joker is one of Alan Moore and Brian Bolland s most renowned works,
famous for its interpretation and illustration of the infamous Joker s origin, and the true nature of
his character in relation to that of the Batman s. The story revolves around the Joker, and his
purpose to prove a point (Moore 21) to Batmanand the world, his point being that There is no
different between [him] and everyone else! All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man
alive to lunacy (Moore 45). His attempts to achieve this purpose develop to become two of the

Similar to the Joker s, Barbara s clothing as well held significance, mainly to foreshadow the
anguish the Joker makes her go through when taking naked pictures of her. Barbara is clothed in
low neck shirt, and a knee high dress, and during her shooting, while she falls, more and more of
her legs are exposed, along with a small portion of her cleavage in the last panel. The vulgarity
of the scene immediately implies a relation to a sexual act, in this case, most probably being
sexually violated by the Joker. The emotions brought up by the illustration in the first two panels
come rushing back to the reader, but with a greater impact. They eventually realize the pain
Barbara is going through in the duration of the sequence. Although the writers and illustrators
could have chosen a simple shirt and pant, the dress and low cut shirt, which allowed a more
revealing illustration of Barbara, do a better job in presenting and foreshadowing her sexual
assault. Similarly, the particular place where Barbara is shot by the Joker implies the same ideas.
The Joker shoots Barbara in her pelvic area, in order to break her spine and paralyze her. Even

Persuasive Essay On Deforestation
Deforestation Every day we use paper, and every day we sit on or use furniture that is made of
wood. Look around you, how many things are not made out of wood? Deforestation is the
destruction or removal of forests. In fact, 50,000 trees are being cut down every minute. The issue
deforestation links directly with the issues of air pollution, loss of animal habitats and climate
change as well as several health problems. Deforestation can be solved if everyone helped, but
not everyone has the same perspective. For example, some world leaders like Donald Trump do
not believe that climate change is an issue, and a lot of people do not care about deforestation
because they are unaware or because they do not care about anything beside themselves. I became
interested in this topic after knowing that in countries where deforestation is a bigger issue, people
are less healthy. Although Canada does not struggle with deforestation as much compared to China
and the US, I do not want the same to happen.
One issue that deforestation causes is extinction the permanent loss of species. Each species is
unique and different but most share the same home: the forest. While others say that logging
creates jobs and lowers the risk of uncontrollable wildfires, what about all the animals? Where
will they go when they no longer have a home? According to experts, 99% of all existing species
that have ever existed are now gone. The loss of species may result in environmental
repercussion. All living things are connected, if the connection is broken, nature would no longer
be balanced. The government need to raise awareness of citizens, a possible solution to this
would be hempcrete. Hemprete is a material made of weed, lime and water that can be used as a
substitute for wood in houses. This method can save a lot of trees, since 44% of wood goes to
construction. Second of all, deforestation has many unexpected effects to the environment and may
result in negative consequences such as climate change. Tree protect the soil from erosion, they
produce oxygen and store carbon dioxide along with purifying the air and controlling the climate.
When forests are cut down, the carbon stored in the trees will be released back into the

falciparum, whereas in most other countries with malaria transmission, other, less virulent
plasmodial species predominate. Almost every malarial death is caused by P. falciparum.[
Malaria is caused by an infection with protozoa of the genus Plasmodium. The name malaria,
from the Italian mala aria, meaning bad air , comes from the linkage suggested by Giovanni
Maria Lancisi (1717) of malaria with the poisonous vapours of swamps. This species name comes
from the Latin falx, meaning sickle , and parere meaning to give birth . The organism itself was
first seen by Laveran on November 6, 1880 at a military hospital in Constantine, Algeria, when he
discovered a microgametocyte exflagellating. Patrick Manson (1894) hypothesised that mosquitoes
could transmit malaria. This hypothesis was experimentally confirmed independently by Giovanni
Battista Grassi and Ronald Ross in 1898. Grassi (1900) proposed an exerythrocytic stage in the life
cycle, later confirmed by Short, Garnham, Covell and Shute (1948), who found Plasmodium vivax
in the human liver.

The Essential Compound of Water on Earth
Formed by two bonded hydrogens and an oxygen atom it is the second most essential compound
to life on Earth, water. However, less than four percent of it is available for human consumption; it
may be found in a liquid state or as water vapor within the atmosphere. As society progresses in
becoming more populous and industrialized so does the demand for fresh water, thus scientists
have and continue to experiment with adding particles to clouds in order to aid in creating
precipitation. In nature, water continuously moves between the Earth and atmosphere through a
process known as the hydrologic cycle. Evaporation and transportation cause water to rise, as
warm air rises it becomes cooler and causes condensation, the droplets increase in size until the
upward movement of air cannot support it (nucleation), and thus falls to the ground. It should be
noted that warm air has the ability to hold more vapor than cold air and cloud formation occurs
due to air becoming supersaturated. Conversely, nucleation does not always occur due to the cloud
not being cold enough, we are then introduced to the process of cloud seeding(Lenschow).
The inorganic compound silver iodide (AgI) is sprayed or launched into the atmosphere as tiny
particles that attract water molecules causing them to nucleate and fall to the ground as
precipitation. Cloud seeding started it s formation when Vincent Schaefer, a self taught chemist in
New York, attempted to get artificial clouds to produce

such an unstable childhood Burgess continued on to enroll in college and major in English. He had

He fails to complete the job, wakes up in a hospital, and finds the mental barriers gone and a pity
dream job is handed to him to compensate for the emotional damage.
A Clockwork Orange had a loose theme of the necessity of not only good, but also evil in human
nature. Alex may have been selfish and deviant but his character and the characters like him did
seem to have a strong grasp on the concept that life was for living. Without the ability of choice to
commit evil acts which was an impulse inside of him, his ability to act human was affected. The
freedom of making these choices seems to be what makes us human. Hence without this freedom he
is driven to attempt suicide.
The major theme of the novel was a battle of the greater importance of a safe stable society or
greater importance of free will. The main character had been conditioned to feel ill at the
thought of bad acts, he had not however been conditioned to not wish to commit these acts. After
viewing the presentation of the quot;successful quot; conversion from evil to quot;good, where
rather than fight Alex licked the man s shoe, the prison Chaplin stated, quot;Self interest, the
fear of physical pain drove him to do that grotesque act of self abasement. Its insincerity was clearly
to be seen. He ceases to be a wrongdoer. He ceases also to be a creature capable of moral choice.
So, is it better to be morally right without free will or

Four Quartets And The Four Quartets
Einstein s theory of Relativity hinges on two axioms: the laws of physics are the same for all
frames of reference, and the speed of light in a vacuum is constant. In his famous train thought
experiment, Einstein proved that the order of events depends on the location of the observer. In
essence, he proved time dilation: or the phenomena that time bends and contracts. Eventually, he
realized time dilation is a necessary consequence of keeping the speed of light in a vacuum constant
everywhere in the universe, leading him to eventually conclude that space and time are not
separate, distinct entities, but one linked dimension: spacetime. This single dimension, because it
stretches and contracts, allows for unusual interactions between space... Show more content on

He chases this unformed notion, until at last in The Dry Salvages, he releases his own David from

/Here the impossible union/of spheres of existence is actual,/ Here past and future/ Are conquered,
and reconciled, . The Incarnation provides the only instance wherein time and eternity collide, and
co exist. The Incarnation allows time past, time present, and time yet to come a simultaneous
existence. However, the implications of simultaneity drastically change reality, both for Einstein
and for Eliot. Einstein s theory allowed for strange realizations, such as light is both a particle and
a wave at the same time and in the same way, which seems to break the foundational law of non
contradiction. Eliot s realization that the Incarnation redeems all time by allowing it all to exist
together, seems to face the same problem. However, this seemingly self referential absurdity may
spring from nothing more than the frame of reference from within which Eliot and Einstein work.
Just as time and eternity are separate and distant entities to the normal observer, the observer on the
event horizon sees them as the same thing simultaneously. Perhaps, when viewed from the frame of
reference of the Incarnation, these absurdities resolve into clarity, for here the impossible union of
spheres of existence is

Le An Objective For Prohibition
Abstract: Lean is a conspicuous theory and application which expects the use of a wide range of
assets for any reason, other than the production of significant worth for the end client to be
inefficient, and subsequently an objective for prohibition. The theory and mindset communicated
by an arrangement of standards, supplemented by various devices and systems helps for waste

Ultimately, I noticed that the parents were having a hard time by not being able to hold their baby

allowing them to touch or hold there baby creates a rift in the interaction process (Tessier et al.,
2009). As time progressed while I was at clinical the baby was becoming more self sufficient and
the suggestion of kangaroo care came about when mom was trying to breastfeed as well as when
they had to supplement with bottle feedings. When the subject of kangaroo care was brought up
neither mom nor dad had heard of it before. During my time with the family I felt that they were at
risk for impaired parenting related to prolong separation from the parent as evidence by long
amounts of time with no physical contact with the baby. It was clear that both mom and dad were
emotionally stressed by not being able to provide basic needs for their newborn, and physical
contact was restricted to small amounts of touching through the isolette. It was also clear that mom
and dad had still not developed any comfort with independently holding or feeding the baby. I
observed that they wanted to become more comfortable and have more physical interaction with
their child. Overall they wanted to become more integrated into the physical care of their child.

The Core Econ textbook provides a very clear overview of the microeconomics concepts. Some
ideas that were introduced by the textbook are very interesting and somewhat relevant to real
world, but do not completely explain real life phenomenons. On the other hand, it also
introduced many ideas that allowed me to perceive certain topics in a different light. One very
interesting idea that the textbook brought up is the idea of altruism . The textbook treated this
idea as purely a social preference. The book defined it as: someone is willing to bear a cost to
benefit somebody else. Though I agree that this is true in many cases, there are also many cases in
which some people are willing to bear a cost because there are negative externalities, which is
something that was not talked about in Chapter 4. For example, nations join together to reach

were extremely effective in keeping the income gap low. After reading the textbook, I realized
something that was not mentioned in his lecture, which was the effect of income gap on GDP. As
the book stated, income gap motivates people to work harder in order for them to ascend through
social classes. I think this partially explains why though those Northern European countries are
able to reduce income gap, their ranking in worldwide annual GDP ranks are usually not
extremely high. Because those societies are fairly equal and social benefits are great and readily

managers. It had an intense effect on the entire industry. In 2002 WorldCom confirmed their
bankruptcy, and in April 2004, WorldCom came out of bankruptcy and was known as MCI.
Everyone worked hard to fix the financials and to reorganize the company. The new CEO
(Michael Capellas) and CFO (Robert Blakely) had to deal with the overwhelming task of
resolving the company s outstanding debt of $35 billion. Using over 500 WorldCom employees,
over 200 employees of the company were outside auditors, KPMG, and 600 people from Deloitte

only aided to the fraud at WorldCom. One, WorldCom

Symbolism In Revelations
... In the days of their prophecy: [they will] have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to
smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. (Rev. 11:6). This connection between blood
and the beginning of the plague are a key theme throughout Revelations, and have continued in
modern literature through zombieism and AIDS. Although the End is usually spoken about within
the idea of naturalistic destruction on Earth, the End may be more humanthan that and come
unexpectedly from humanity itself: They are frightening for the very reason that they do not look
like our enemies at all... they look disturbingly like our co workers, neighbours, friends and
families (Dendle 50); they being the key term. The idea of this they , this other ness in Revelations,
gives us an insight of what is to come and names those not (in) white (7:14), women... Show more

Otherness within zombieism can be represented through the Haitian zombie; the zombie symbol of
otherness, of blackness , of the savage in both the offensive and zombie context. Dendle
discusses blackness and the blood of the Haitian zombie within the context of a 1935 film called
Ouanga; ... even though her skin appeared fully white, she still has black blood in her veins...
your white skin doesn t change what s inside you (47). This directly connects to AIDS and the
idea of the general population , which can be explained as not just whites but heterosexuals
(Sontag 67). Long goes into detail of why this is, explaining that homosexuality itself [had already
been made out to be] a contagious disease; an apocalyptic signifier, a sign of end times , (2) so
when the epidemic of AIDS hit, the general population believed that it was punishment for not
living God s way , and further emphasized their other ness by mentioning its spread in South Africa.

How The Ball With Your Foot
Introduction
In America it is called soccer, but in the rest of the world it is called football. This sport consists
of a ball being kicked with feet with the intent of getting the ball into the goal. The faster the ball
moves, the less time the goalie has to prevent a goal from being scored. If the ball is kicked
directly at the goalie with incredible speed, the ball will be deflected and not go into the goal.
Occasionally a player must direct the ball around many additional players to get a free shot which
can be a lot of hard work. Sometimes though, a player gets a free shot. This uninhibited shot doesn
t necessarily mean free points though. Most shots that score have a rapid velocity and are very
accurate. There are two main ways of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The approach includes the steps before the foot plant. This article found that the greater distance the
step is up to 1.6m the more powerful the kick will be. The biomechanical purpose of this phase is
to generate power by increasing momentum. The contact phase occurs after the opposite foot has
been planted and is the beginning the forward motion of the kicking leg onto the impact on the
ball (What... 2014). During this phase the flexion of the knee in the kicking leg increases to
cause an overall deceleration of the player but an increase in acceleration of the kicking leg to
generate more velocity. The follow through phase is where contact is made and the kicking leg
comes closer to the elbow on the same side of the body as the kicking leg. The leg essentially
completes the path it began in the forward swing of the kick. The article goes on to mention the
main biomechanical principles that influence a player s ability to achieve maximum velocity.
They are the angular velocity of the lower limbs, coefficient of restitution, and ground reaction
force. In the research article Three dimensional kinetic analysis of side foot and instep soccer
kicks by Hiroyuki Nunome, Takeshi Asai, Yasuo Ikegami, and Shinji Sakurai, they found The
average ball velocities of the side foot and instep kicks were 23.4 +/ 1.7 mВ·s 1 and 28.0 +/ 2.1
mВ·s 1, respectively (Nunome 2002). This showed how the instep kick was

San Francisco Research Paper
San Francisco is a relatively unique city when it comes to surrounding geology and geography.
San Francisco is located on a peninsula and the city limits define a seven by seven mile square
(approximately 49 miles). The city is surrounded on the West by the Pacific Ocean, the North by
the Golden Gate Strait, and the East by the San Francisco Bay. The San Francisco Peninsula
pushes itself into the San Francisco Bay, which is a conglomerate of smaller, interconnected bays
bordering the larger cities of San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland, and is responsible for draining
40 percent of Californias water.
More closely, San Francisco itself has a very impressive and unique geological and geographical

Texas V. Johnson Case Study

The question is unique. In my judgment rules that apply to a host of other symbols, such as state
flags, armbands, or various privately promoted emblems of political or commercial identity, are
not necessarily controlling. Even if flag burning could be considered just another species of
symbolic speech under the logical application of the rules that the Court has developed in its
interpretation of the First Amendment in other contexts, this case has an intangible dimension that
makes those rules inapplicable. Comments: Source: http://www.riverreporter.com/news/library

where both sides are coming from and I understand their reasoning. But, I will say that Johnson

a riot and become a lot more serious than it did. Principal of Law: Texas Penal Code Ann. 42.09

Seatbelt Research Paper
Newton s law of inertia states ...an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed
and direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. In the event that a person who is not
wearing a seatbelt gets into a collision they will continue to stay in motion until they hit the
dashboard, windshield or etc. The way to prevent injuries from occurring during a collision would
be wearing your seatbelt as it stops the forward momentum.
Kinetic energy affects the stopping distance of two identical vehicles going different speeds
because when you double your speed, you re doubling the kinetic energy of your vehicle up to four
times. The brakes must do an amount of work that is equal to the original kinetic energy. Therefore,

The larger the vehicle, the larger the mass. The smaller the vehicle, the less the mass. Assuming
that both vehicles are going the same speed, the small vehicle will take less stopping distance
compared to a large vehicle.
A driver can best prepare entering sharp curves in the roadway by gradually decelerating to a
safe speed before entering the curve. If you enter a curve with high speed or brake suddenly, you
risk the chance of losing control of your vehicle. If you find yourself entering a sharp curve too
fast, brake gently. Bicyclists and motorcyclists have to lean toward the inside to keep balance when
rounding a curve. In a manual transmission vehicle, shift to a lower gear.
The fatality of a car crash depends on a certain number of things. First, is the driver and/or
passengers wearing seatbelts? Someone who is wearing a seatbelt is more likely to make it out
alive with a few minor injuries than someone who isn t. Second, the force of impact between two
objects. The faster you drive, the greater the striking power of your vehicle, the worse the damage
in a collision. Third, the mass of the vehicle. The vehicle with the less mass will take the greater
impact. Larger vehicles have more energy and momentum than smaller

Non Normative Events
Non normative life events are usually those that are significant, unpredictable and unexpected;
they happen to a particular individual and if not handled properly can have mental or
psychological effects. They include natural disasters, civil wars or loss of a family member. In
some instances, events like illness or death are statistically categorized as normative but in real
sense are unexpected and undesired hence are definitely non normative. This discussion is going to
identify and summarize two sources written in the last 5 6 years which focus on how non normative
events can affectthe quality of life of an individual.
Discussion
A study conducted Wong, Seltzer, Greenberg Hong (2012) explores the effects stressful events have
on cortisol level in midlife mothers of children with autism and spectrum disorders. The population
under study as indicated above consisted of midlife mothers of individuals with autism disorder; the
sample size for this study involved 82 mothers that ranged from adolescents to adults with autism.
Control variables during the process included age, medical usage, education, marital status and total
number of children in a specific family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This research tried demystifying claims that individuals who have autism are affected throughout
their life course and that parents of children with this condition have elevated stress level compared
to those with development disabilities. The researchers used two types of stress; relatively
infrequent ones such as death of a family member or marital separation which have long term effect
on lifestyle changes. The second approach concentrated on quotidian stressors which include
unexpected deadlines or arguments with family members (Barker, Hartley, Seltzer, Floyd,

One O Clock Jump Poem Essay
While One O Clock Jump has more similarities to swing it is still an example of modernism. In
Coleman Hawkins One O Clock Jump one can notice the more similarities with swing, compared
to Body and Soul, however, one can still hear a more detailed portrayal. The song has more flow
and more beats than swing usually has. Thus, use of more beats is part of the new technique that
Coleman Hawkinsused. The use of the new techniques shows how one can see modernismin One O
Clock Jump. However, due to the similarities to swing one would not necessary have to see this
song of Hawkins as part of bebopor modernism.
Another song of Hawkins that not necessary has to be seen as modernism is Every Man For
Himself. In Every Man For Himself there is again a faster pace. While one could still call it swing
one could say how the faster pacing made it part of modernism. Yet one can again argue how the
similarities to swing, still made it swing and a new term as bebop would not have been necessary.
Would Body and Soul not have been as different from swing as it was both One O Clock Jump and
Every Man For Himself would not necessary be part of bebop. So, both these songs are part of
modernism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Hawkins went to Europe he did not experience the rapid urbanization that was happening in the
United States. Although, he did keep several records of American artists, so he could still listen to
the changes that were happening. As well as the techniques he learned in Europe, would eventually
lead to the new techniques that he used in the United States. Thus, while he did not experience the
changes in the thirties he did keep up to date to these changes, and was part of the changes that
were made in the late thirties and early forties. That he was part of the changes shows how he is
still an example of modernism. Even though he did not experience the rapid urbanization, he was

How Does It End To The Romanticism Of War
World War I has cultivated a mythology around itself, and that mythology, although it drew from
real experiences, has distorted the truth into an exaggerated and generalized story of the war. This
collective narrative can be loosely defined as a generation of young, idealistic, innocent men, who
took up arms in the defence of democracy. Relying on concepts like honour, glory and duty as
justifications for war, they were routinely slaughtered in unnecessary, unsuccessful battles by
incompetent, moronic, generals. Veterans of this conflict were disillusioned by the war and saw
their real enemies as the old men who had sent them to die in this pointless conflict. Returning
home they rejected the old society, separating themselves from the past and their cultural... Show

by the war, and for them the romanticism of war from their childhoods had been broken, but to

end to the romanticism of war in general is a false conclusion. The idea that World War Iin any way
put an end to the romanticism of war is a fantasy. The reality is that much of the mythology that we

Noah And The Great Wifi Outage Analysis
Noah and the Great Wifi Outage
Written and illustrated by: Kylie Kaminski
Noah was a man who owned no tablet, no cellphone, and no electronics of any sort. Noah paid
much attention to the world around him: helping the animals, the homeless, and the earth.
Everyone else was glued to their electronics, paying no attention to the beautiful world God created
around them. People walked down the streets, looking down at their smartphones and tablets, and
had no interaction with the people around them. Everyone was so worried about their social media
and online worlds, they forgot about the real world around them. One day while God was looking
over Earth, watching people stare at their phones, completely oblivious to the beauty and humanity
surrounding them, He decided enough was enough. God spoke to Noah and said, I will destroy
this dreadful world of electronics, and only you will be able to restore humanity, Noah.
God warned Noah that a great lightning storm would come and destroy all the electronics and WiFi
on Earth. God told Noah, You must go out into the busy streets and warn others of this great storm
coming. You must prepare to teach everyone how to live in a world without electronics, for they
have forgot how to function without them.

The Power Of Perceptions In The Kitie Runner And The Kite...
Discoveries can be significant in ways that may be emotional, intellectual, or spiritual, leading to
new values and ideas. They can also offer new understandings and perceptions of the self and of
others, being inherently transformative. This is evident in the texts, The Tempest by William
Shakespeare, the film The Kite Runner by Marc Forster, and the memoir Chinese Dancing Bendigo
Style by Joo Inn Chew, each text revealing emotional and spiritual awakenings resultant of the
discovery process.
In The Tempest, Shakespeare explores the power of experience and reflection to challenge one s
perceptions and invoke emotional and spiritual discoveries within the metaphorical transgressive
free space of the island. He is therefore able to explore the disjunction between art and reality, as
Prospero s eventual realisation of his art s limitations and the fragility of human reality stems from
the confines of his imagination. This imaginative world is what Prospero uses to guide the King
and courtiers along a symbolic journey to understanding their guilt, utilising a metaphorical maze to
do so. Prospero s vision culminates with the visualisation of the masque, as Prospero realises the
necessity of re integrating his imagination with the reality of his existence. Prospero s speech
reflects a shift in register, forcing the play onto a philosophical plane, symbolising his emotional
discovery through the shift from external representation to his reflective acknowledgement of his

to rise out of the recession because of the land of oil industry that has hit its highest point since
when I lasted lived in the state. The state of Texas I think is the busiest of many states because of
its high demand of employment for the oil industry. The jobs are anywhere from secretary
employment to a derrick man on the rig itself drilling the oil out of the ground. Every position
has its own way of being very important. I miss living in this state because of how big the state
is and the different areas of employment that is available. Texas does hit rock bottom but will
always find a way out to rise above other states. Louisiana s state principal is agricultural products
which include seafood, cotton, soybeans, cattle, sugarcane, poultry and eggs, dairy products, and

  • 2. A Short Note On The Atlantic Bluefin Tuna Thunnus Thynnus, or the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, is one of the largest species of tuna, weighing in at over 600 kilograms and four meters in length. It is known for its speed and takes the shape of a torpedo. In its environment, the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna acts as one of the top predators. It preys on smaller fish, such as herring, mackerel and eels. The Atlantic Bluefin Tunais separated into two main populations, Eastern and Western. Although located in different geographical areas they are not isolated and individuals migrate between the two populations allowing gene flow. The Atlantic Bluefin Tuna s population ranges all through the pelagic zone of the Atlantic. The Western Atlantic population spawns in the Gulf of Mexico, and the Eastern Atlantic population spawns in the Mediterranean Sea. In the fishing industry it is highly coveted for sports fishing, especially in the United States and Canada, and in the sashimi market for high end sushi. As a result of the high demands for the Tuna it is being heavily overfished causing the population to decline dramatically. The low supply and high demand for the Tuna has made them extremely valuable; a single fish in Tokyo s Tsukiji fish market sold for 1.76 million dollar (Bluefin, 2013). This high value of the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna has resulted in illegal pirate fishing causing more harm to the population. If the illegal pirate fishing and overfishing of the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna continues, the species will become extinct resulting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Mathematical Analysis of Point Scoring in Tennis AIM OF THE EXPLORATION Way of scoring in Tennis makes it a different from other games. The unique point is that the scoring at the point level is not cumulative and hence, it is possible for a player scoring less points than her or his opponent to win a match. In this portfolio, we will explore пѓ How to construct a probabilistic model for a tennis match in which the probabilities of winning points are used to analyze the probability of winning matches. пѓ Charts, which will illustrate the consequences of this model and some numerical results are highlighted to indicate how raw match data might be used to indicate how a player might improve her or his game. пѓ The concept of a big shot is examined within this model and the possibility of a big shot turning a losing game into a winning game is addressed. INTRODUCTIONOne of the advance developments which supplements to television commentary for tennis matches is the computer analysis of the results from charting of matches. Charting is the facility that the computer provides to create, tabulate, and cross referencing data from the charts has made information easily accessible. The computer can make use of the charts to provide information on the progress of a match or data for analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of a player over several or many matches. The basic question that follows is How players can put the data to their best use? How well does a player have to play to get a big point? In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. U.s. President Barack Obama Well, it is official. Thousands of American soldiers will stay on in Afghanistan after 2016. US President Barack Obama halted the troop drawdown on October 15 because Afghan forces are still not as strong as they need to be. This major policy U turn means US combat forces will stay 9800 strong throughout 2016 and reduce to 5500 men by the time Obama leaves office. This was not the plan. The plan was to keep an embassy level force behind after 2016, or around 1000 men. The Talibanseizing Kunduz briefly in September ruined this plan, or so says the White House. Contrarian news sources, however, are pitching more sinister reasons for the about face. They say the CIA persuaded Obama to stay camped in Afghanistanfor financial reasons. The spy agency allegedly traffics Afghan heroin valued in the billions to bankroll its covert operations around the world. Add to that Afghanistan s one trillion dollars worth of proven gas and mineral reserves and you can see why Washington insiders are keen to continue this profit driven resource war, says Prof Michel Chossudovsky from the Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG). Normally, you would dismiss such talk as conspiratorial mumbo jumbo, but the tactical futility of Obama s decision raises many questions. For one, nothing will change on the ground. This is not a surge. American forces will keep to their training and advisory role. Of course, if 9800 American soldiers could not prevent Kunduz from falling in September, how ... • 5. Modern Judaism And Traditional Judaism Essay There are a fair amount of differences between modern and traditional Judaism. As this is the case it is only natural that many well known people in all walks of life can be considered modern Jews. This distinction is very important because as more famous people practice a more modern Jewish culture and lifestyle, more of the younger generations of the world quickly follow suit. Not only is modern Judaismaccommodating towards modern scholarship, science, culture and a general modernity of the world, it goes as far as even welcoming it. This is because modern Judaism takes a fairly inclusive stance towards all that modern society has to offer and provide. (Waxman, 1993) In modern Judaism, interaction with different culture and knowledge is encouraged, not for the sake of facilitating the Torah as it is in the traditional Judaism but for the sake of the person, as this outside knowledge is seen to be part of a larger truth. (Elias, 1960) With these general distinctions between traditional and modern Judaism, it is easy to find examples of people in popular culture who fit into the classification. One person who could be argued to be a good example of a modern Jew someone who takes part in life outside of Jewish culture and welcomes with open arms modernity is Woody Allen. As an 80 year old man, Allen has had to struggle with the shift from traditional to modern Judaism and create a mixture (or lack thereof) that works for him. As an individual tying his whole life to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Electricity, Heating Water Electricity, heating and water consumption can be substantial costs, which you need to monitor and preferably compare with local standards, so you get a notion of any exaggerated usage. In addition, consider that children unaware of cost will consume more than adults, i.e. teach them to save on electricity, heating water. When they are children, invent games that teach them the right attitude, e.g. reduce the greenhouse effect and help avoiding that the polar bears drown. Electricity Obvious saving tips are, only turn on the light, when you need it, turn off electrical appliances when not in use, but ideas for preventing paying too much for electricity are plenty: Get the cheapest electricity supplier; Analyze... One of the causes are impulse buys, therefore, a remedy would be avoid sales, window shopping, outlet visits or browsing the internet shops for ideas, when not having anything better to do. Instead, prepare a shopping list in advance and stick to it, e.g. only buy the new trousers you actually need. Another way to reduce impulse buys is; leave the debit cards at home when you are shopping and bring cash instead, which may be harder to spend; the cost becomes real. In addition, it is also easier to limit the amount you put in your pocket in advance. Some claim that it is possible to dress nicely for everyday and parties for little money. The straightforward solution would be buying clothes and shoes in the supermarket, but you can actually buy fashion and branded clothing at decent prices on the internet. • 7. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Analysis Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, known as OCD, is considered a constant fear or worrying aspect (obsessions) that includes the frequent repetition of behaviors to reduce anxiety (compulsions). Some of the common symptoms include excessive washing or cleaning, repeated actions such as opening and closing the door or even the light switch a number of times before entering or leaving a room. Intelligence is not an issue as more people with OCD tend to possess an above average IQ. Obsessive compulsive disorder affects children and adolescents, as well as adults (one third to one half of adults with OCD report a childhood onset of the disorder). It was attributed by the works from Lisa Merlo, Heather Lehmkuhl, Gary Geffken and Eric Storch found in the PsycARTICLES database. First off, pediatric obsessive compulsive disorder is a chronic, disabling condition. It in turn affects both the patients and their respected families. This article calls to attention that not all patients respond fully and how family accommodation specifically influences pediatric patients with OCD. It raises the question if there are improved outcomes based on family accommodations. With that being said, the study investigates the association between family accommodation and treatment outcome in a relatively large sample of pediatric patients with OCD participating in cognitive behavioral therapy. The outcome regards how effective the treatment actually was and what impact it had. The prediction is that the majority of parents would report family accommodations of their child s symptoms and that family accommodation would be seen as positively related to ratings of child OCD impairment. In turn, the level of family accommodation would decrease following cognitive behavioral therapy participation and post treatment levels of family accommodation would be ... • 8. What Role Does Religion Play In Hamlet As a shadow approached Marcellus, Barnardo, and Horatio, they questioned the state of their country and the unfortunate circumstances regarding Hamlet. The ghost, originally a catholic idea, was presented as an uncertain character is used to symbolize the development of the revenge plot, delay of Hamlet s actions, and foreshadowing of death. The ghostdid not simply introduce an idea of revenge, it also represented the unpleasant idea which at the time was popular: revenge. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Seeing ghosts in any tradition is an omen of something negative. Marcellus directly said, Something is rotten in the state of Denmark (Shakespeare, Act 1, Scene 4). As a tragedy, death is certainly one of the many themes of Hamlet. The ghost, a dead person s soul, tells Hamlet that his father s death was caused by his uncle. By suggesting revenge as a way to fix his father s sins, the ghost s dialogue foreshadows the death of the Claudius. Given the circumstances of the public agreeing to usurp of the throne, Hamlet s unusual behavior, and involvement of outside characters, Hamlet s journey to seek vengeance will include the death of other characters. The ghost acted as the firebrand that initiated a series of deaths by simply suggesting the death of one individual: Claudius. Without much effort, Hamlet is persuaded to avenge his late father and unknowingly take his own life. Marcellus statement ultimately became the truth after the death of both Claudius and Gertrude, Hamlet s mother, and some other uninvolved characters like Ophelia and Polonius. The ghost did not only complicate the entire story of Hamlet, it also developed the theme of revenge and Hamlet s delay of vengeance. However, it can be inferred that if the character of the ghost was not included in the story, then the story of Hamlet would not have happened. In the process ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Political Frame Essay Buck Morss argues in The Political Frame that those societies claiming to be democratic often operate with power out of control of the masses. This wild zone is above the law, because it is a function of the state that makes the law. This relates to Buck Morss next point on the issue of sovereignty and legitimacy of a state. According to the nation state societies, the state monopoly on violence is legitimate because it is operated by legislation. The laws are written by those elected by the people, therefore popular sovereignty and popular will are the same. However, this fails to explain the violence and is an unsteady point. The state is both defender and creator of law, and therefore shifts that power towards itself. According to the class warfare model, the violence is explained by the revolution and the constant struggle between classes. This, however, does not explain its legitimacy. According to Marx, the secret exercise of class of interests cannot be the basis of legitimacy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A source of legitimacy is the right to wage war because of all that war entails: an enemy and violence, namely. By defining an enemy, the state brings a collective into being. Buck Morss notes the war powers rights during times of crises, where the enemy is seen as dangerous enough to develop the wild zone, that part of democracy removed from the people. Any challenge to the collective status quo is therefore an act against the collective and an enemy action. Therefore, the display of violence is a legitimate expression of democratic sovereignty despite the inherently non democratic nature of the exercise. According to Buck Morss, war risks the life or death of the collective itself. Therefore, the nondemocratic power is stronger in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The X Men movie franchise is based off the popular Marvel comic of the same name; This means that the narratives in the movie franchise are adapted from the narratives of the comic books; something Waterhouse Watson and Kendal (2012) discuss while discussing Prater s (2012) view; they say Based on comics from the 1960s and 70s, Prater argues that the more recent films disempower the female X men, while trying to claim an alibi for this sexist representation. It is an interesting view, highlighting how passive the audience becomes to hegemonic beliefs in a movie if the story happens to be adapted from a comic that was written roughly 40 years earlier. There are benefits and consequences for both sides. In a sense, regulations are an essential element in our society. • 14. Childhood Obesity And Its Effects On The United States Today Introduction With the recently documented increases in prevalence s dating as late back as to 1980, pediatric obesity now represents one of the most pressing nutritional problems facing children in the United States today. International population studies report comparable rates of increase, so that if current trends remain unchecked, childhood obesity is likely to challenge worldwide public health. Substantial consequences to physical and mental health, both short and long term, must be anticipated. Unfortunately, there is no uniform definition of childhood obesity. Childhood obesity has been variously described by absolute weight , triceps skinfolds , weight for height percentiles, percent of ideal body weight and, most recently, by body mass index (BMI weight in kg=height in meters squared). Although these measures reflect slightly different aspects of body composition or body size, they are moderately well correlated with body fat, even in growing children. In addition to the lack of consistency in the anthropometric measure , the degree of obesity varies from study to study; however, for the majority of studies, a BMI greater than either the 85th or 95th percentile, or a weight for height greater than 120% of ideal was considered obese. Although for most children, complications of childhood obesity do not become apparent for decades, the metabolic consequences of obesity may be already evident in young children. This aspect of Bartleby s heroism affects the story by developing a new theme to the story and developing the character of the narrator who is part of the story as the boss to Bartleby. It develops the theme of association between chronometrical time and the world of the spirits. It also changes the character of the narrator because he develops a new attitude towards time, and the world of spirits, which changes his normal way of belief. The narrator of the story becomes shocked when he discovers that Bartleby, who only feeds on ginger nuts, has never left the office. This is actually the first time that the narrator experiences the spiritual power that Bartleby possesses. The narrator is so much business oriented that he only looks at the world in terms of profits. However, when he encounters this aspect of the spirit of Bartleby, his attitude towards life changes. He begins appreciating the fact that Bartleby deserves better treatment, not in the capitalist way. The narrator even sees what is a right, just as an asset, but this perception is later changed by Bartleby s spirit: What earthly right have you to stay here? Do you pay any rent? Do you pay my taxes? Or is this property yours? (Melville, 41). Booker was in Michigan, while his father was pursuing a professional career overseas. Devin visited his father two months out of the year while he was on summer break. At an early age, Devin was taught by his father that having a basketballIQ was more important than natural athleticism. While Devin was in Michigan, he had played for the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity basketball teams at Grandville High School, in Grand Rapids. But Booker then moved to Mississippi, to live with his father, after his retirement from professional basketball. He had then enrolled into Moss Point High School, where his father was an assistant coach, in August of 2011. Early on Booker was a high school standout. As a sophomore he had developed into one of the best guards in the coastal area of the gulf. He had averaged 22.7 points per game. He also had been drawing interest in Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Georgetown, Florida, Georgetown, Alabama, and Missouri. Later that season Devin scored 54 points in the MLK shootout. With Devin s sophomore season now over, it was now time for his junior campaign. With most of Moss Point s experienced players graduating, Devin switched to the point guard position for his junior season. But later in the season ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are symptoms that can lead to anything from the common cold to a deadly viral infection. It is because of this that vaccinations are a fundamental part of society and why doctors and parents alike advocate for hand washing, hydrating, and staying home when you are ill. Disease prevention is a corner stone in today s society and has been one for around 200 years since; Edward Jenner created and administered the first smallpoxinoculation. However, while always controversial the last few centuries have proved to lend unfounded credence to the anti vaccination movement. Due to the publication of faulty studies along with spiritual and even political beliefs vaccinations have gone from being viewed as a well respected and endorsed medical procedure to a breeding ground for further infections and possible physical and mental impairments. Broadway shows have been dated back to the early 1920 s and 1930 s. By 2016, over 25,000 tickets are sold to Broadway shows in a week. Thousands of people enjoy the shows that are featured on Broadway but have no idea the work and process that brought it to life. The process of getting a show on to Broadway can be broken down into three phases: pre production, staging, and performance/promotion. The first stage of a show is pre production. Every show starts as merely an idea. This idea can come from all kinds of sources. In the beginning, Broadway shows started one of two ways; a producer who hired a creative team or a creative team who found a creative team to back it. Nowadays, it is increasingly getting harder for songwriters, lyricists, etc. to get a show produced. Contrary to popular belief, many writers send in just an idea and a brief excerpt when trying to get produced. Hundreds of wannabe writers send their ideas to producers only to get a rejection letter. Many composers don t fully commit to finishing writing a show until a producer has committed. As American composer and songwriter, Cole Porter once said, My sole inspiration is a telephone call from a director. • 27. Persuasive Essay On Deforestation Deforestation Every day we use paper, and every day we sit on or use furniture that is made of wood. Look around you, how many things are not made out of wood? Deforestation is the destruction or removal of forests. In fact, 50,000 trees are being cut down every minute. The issue deforestation links directly with the issues of air pollution, loss of animal habitats and climate change as well as several health problems. Deforestation can be solved if everyone helped, but not everyone has the same perspective. For example, some world leaders like Donald Trump do not believe that climate change is an issue, and a lot of people do not care about deforestation because they are unaware or because they do not care about anything beside themselves. I became interested in this topic after knowing that in countries where deforestation is a bigger issue, people are less healthy. Although Canada does not struggle with deforestation as much compared to China and the US, I do not want the same to happen. One issue that deforestation causes is extinction the permanent loss of species. Each species is unique and different but most share the same home: the forest. While others say that logging creates jobs and lowers the risk of uncontrollable wildfires, what about all the animals? Where will they go when they no longer have a home? According to experts, 99% of all existing species that have ever existed are now gone. The loss of species may result in environmental repercussion. All living things are connected, if the connection is broken, nature would no longer be balanced. The government need to raise awareness of citizens, a possible solution to this would be hempcrete. Hemprete is a material made of weed, lime and water that can be used as a substitute for wood in houses. This method can save a lot of trees, since 44% of wood goes to construction. Second of all, deforestation has many unexpected effects to the environment and may result in negative consequences such as climate change. However, less than four percent of it is available for human consumption; it may be found in a liquid state or as water vapor within the atmosphere. As society progresses in becoming more populous and industrialized so does the demand for fresh water, thus scientists have and continue to experiment with adding particles to clouds in order to aid in creating precipitation. In nature, water continuously moves between the Earth and atmosphere through a process known as the hydrologic cycle. Evaporation and transportation cause water to rise, as warm air rises it becomes cooler and causes condensation, the droplets increase in size until the upward movement of air cannot support it (nucleation), and thus falls to the ground. It should be noted that warm air has the ability to hold more vapor than cold air and cloud formation occurs due to air becoming supersaturated. Conversely, nucleation does not always occur due to the cloud not being cold enough, we are then introduced to the process of cloud seeding(Lenschow). The inorganic compound silver iodide (AgI) is sprayed or launched into the atmosphere as tiny particles that attract water molecules causing them to nucleate and fall to the ground as precipitation. In his famous train thought experiment, Einstein proved that the order of events depends on the location of the observer. In essence, he proved time dilation: or the phenomena that time bends and contracts. Eventually, he realized time dilation is a necessary consequence of keeping the speed of light in a vacuum constant everywhere in the universe, leading him to eventually conclude that space and time are not separate, distinct entities, but one linked dimension: spacetime. The Incarnation provides the only instance wherein time and eternity collide, and co exist. The Incarnation allows time past, time present, and time yet to come a simultaneous existence. However, the implications of simultaneity drastically change reality, both for Einstein and for Eliot. Einstein s theory allowed for strange realizations, such as light is both a particle and a wave at the same time and in the same way, which seems to break the foundational law of non contradiction. Eliot s realization that the Incarnation redeems all time by allowing it all to exist together, seems to face the same problem. However, this seemingly self referential absurdity may spring from nothing more than the frame of reference from within which Eliot and Einstein work. As time progressed while I was at clinical the baby was becoming more self sufficient and the suggestion of kangaroo care came about when mom was trying to breastfeed as well as when they had to supplement with bottle feedings. When the subject of kangaroo care was brought up neither mom nor dad had heard of it before. During my time with the family I felt that they were at risk for impaired parenting related to prolong separation from the parent as evidence by long amounts of time with no physical contact with the baby. It was clear that both mom and dad were emotionally stressed by not being able to provide basic needs for their newborn, and physical contact was restricted to small amounts of touching through the isolette. It was also clear that mom and dad had still not developed any comfort with independently holding or feeding the baby. I observed that they wanted to become more comfortable and have more physical interaction with their child. Overall they wanted to become more integrated into the physical care of their child. ... Some ideas that were introduced by the textbook are very interesting and somewhat relevant to real world, but do not completely explain real life phenomenons. On the other hand, it also introduced many ideas that allowed me to perceive certain topics in a different light. One very interesting idea that the textbook brought up is the idea of altruism . The textbook treated this idea as purely a social preference. The book defined it as: someone is willing to bear a cost to benefit somebody else. Though I agree that this is true in many cases, there are also many cases in which some people are willing to bear a cost because there are negative externalities, which is something that was not talked about in Chapter 4. For example, nations join together to reach agreement on reducing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chapter on inequality discussed some important ideas that were not frequently talked about in the classroom. When Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz came to Stuy to talk about economics a few terms ago, he brought up inequalities in different countries. He mainly focused on how to eliminate income gap in different countries, and, in the data he showed, many Northern European countries were extremely effective in keeping the income gap low. After reading the textbook, I realized something that was not mentioned in his lecture, which was the effect of income gap on GDP. As the book stated, income gap motivates people to work harder in order for them to ascend through social classes. I think this partially explains why though those Northern European countries are able to reduce income gap, their ranking in worldwide annual GDP ranks are usually not extremely high. Because those societies are fairly equal and social benefits are great and readily available to most people, residents in those countries become less motivated to work extremely ... • 43. How The Ball With Your Foot Introduction In America it is called soccer, but in the rest of the world it is called football. This sport consists of a ball being kicked with feet with the intent of getting the ball into the goal. The faster the ball moves, the less time the goalie has to prevent a goal from being scored. If the ball is kicked directly at the goalie with incredible speed, the ball will be deflected and not go into the goal. Occasionally a player must direct the ball around many additional players to get a free shot which can be a lot of hard work. Sometimes though, a player gets a free shot. This uninhibited shot doesn t necessarily mean free points though. Most shots that score have a rapid velocity and are very accurate. There are two main ways of ... During this phase the flexion of the knee in the kicking leg increases to cause an overall deceleration of the player but an increase in acceleration of the kicking leg to generate more velocity. The follow through phase is where contact is made and the kicking leg comes closer to the elbow on the same side of the body as the kicking leg. The leg essentially completes the path it began in the forward swing of the kick. The article goes on to mention the main biomechanical principles that influence a player s ability to achieve maximum velocity. They are the angular velocity of the lower limbs, coefficient of restitution, and ground reaction force. They can also offer new understandings and perceptions of the self and of others, being inherently transformative. This is evident in the texts, The Tempest by William Shakespeare, the film The Kite Runner by Marc Forster, and the memoir Chinese Dancing Bendigo Style by Joo Inn Chew, each text revealing emotional and spiritual awakenings resultant of the discovery process. In The Tempest, Shakespeare explores the power of experience and reflection to challenge one s perceptions and invoke emotional and spiritual discoveries within the metaphorical transgressive free space of the island. He is therefore able to explore the disjunction between art and reality, as Prospero s eventual realisation of his art s limitations and the fragility of human reality stems from the confines of his imagination. This imaginative world is what Prospero uses to guide the King and courtiers along a symbolic journey to understanding their guilt, utilising a metaphorical maze to do so. Prospero s vision culminates with the visualisation of the masque, as Prospero realises the necessity of re integrating his imagination with the reality of his existence.
