Wal Mart Stores, Inc. Essay
Wal Mart Stores, Inc. is the largest corporation in the world that specializes in selling goods at
the lowest possible price. Having low prices attracts more customers and results in an increase in
total profits even though, the markup per product is at bare minimum (Press 2004). Walmart s
products include food, beverages, home products, personal care products, toys, clothing,
electronics, and much more (Walmart 2016). Walmart s stock of such a large variety of
products makes it one of most useful retail company for an everyday consumer. This and the
willingness to expand and innovate is probably why Walmart is so successful today. In 1962,
Sam Walton founded Walmart in Rogers, Arkansas on the principle of keeping the customer
happy by providing them with the lowest priced goods on the market (Press 2004). He really
wanted to make the lives of his customers better by selling them cheap goods so people can have
more spending cash to make their lives better. Going on with this principle, in 1969 Sam, now
with 24 stores open, officially incorporated the company as Wal Mart Stores, Incorporated (Press
2004). Since then Walmart has blown up all across the United States and into the rest of the
world becoming the most successful retail company on the planet. Its success can be mostly
attributed to adhering to its founder s ideology of low priced goods. Walmart is a global leader in
the retail business and has been able to spread its prosperity to many countries all over the

The Pros And Cons Of Tourism In Myanmar
Although some countries and the democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi have both made statement
to people do not to visit Myanmar due to many reasons such as the culture human rights protection,
political fights and terrorist attack, the tourism became open to the world again. The National
Democratic League has boycott the activity of Visit Myanmar year 1996 because they thought
tourismwas only financially benefited the regime, but NLD made a new statement in 2011, 15 years
later, replaced of revenging the government revenue by stopping tourism, they stated that tourism
development affects Myanmar s nature, local culture and local population of Myanmar. However,
they also made acknowledge of responsible tourism can act as an important role in the country s

And over two thirds of the tourists who visited Myanmar in 2012 came from Asia. But a lot of the
customers did not come for vacation but for managing business. Based on the tourists data of 2012,
the types of tourism that the customers have chosen were like the following: package tours
occupied 23%; foreign independent travelers were accounted for 42%, business travelers were 20%
and others had 15%. Here we can see, two thirds were independent international customers.
Miyamoto indicated in her article A Study on Ethnic Tourism in Myanmar that, the package tour
customers were much lower than the independent tour customers in 2012, the reason has high
probability with the unsound infrastructure in Myanmar; and the amount of independent tourists of
2012 were less may related to the political unrest and terror attack additionally. In June 2012,
deadly violence occurred in the west area of Myanmar due to the tensions of religious faction and
it resulted a state of emergency declared by Burma s president. People dead and injured, hundreds
of houses were burned in the fire also and the unrest riot has been increasing. Thus, the security
issues might be the main reason why tourists increased slowly in

Comparison And Cons Of Science Fiction
Whether is it Michael Bay s signature explosion scenes or Quentin Tarantino s way of expressing
his thrilling movies, you cannot deny that everyone enjoys watching movies. Let it be Action,
Comedy, Sci Fi, Animated or even plain old classic films. Talking about genre, Fiction, in literature
terms, refers to a class that comprises works of imaginative narration ( Fiction n.d.,), basically
things which are not real and true. Science fiction on the other hand, is the sub genre of fiction in
which the movie illustrates the science and technology of the future. It is noted that science fiction
has a relationship with the principles of science, meaning that the story usually involves partially
true partially fictitious laws and theories of science. Plots of science fiction would usually create
scenes and environments that are set in the future. ( Definition of Science Fiction , n.d.). These...

mainly we would talk about the plot of it. Both movie, being different genre, has a difference with
each other. The Amazing Spider Man, set in 2012, speaks about how a teenager, Peter Parker, uses
his new super power strength and ability which he obtained from a genetically modified spider s
bite. As the story goes on, Peter met Dr. Curt Connor, a scientist that had worked with Peter s
father in the past. Afterwards in a scene, Uncle Ben is seen having a struggle with a thief and was
killed. Peter, being devastated over his death, used his new abilities to hunt down criminals
matching the killer s description. Moving on, Peter accepts a dinner invitation from Gwen Stacy, a
girl whom he met in high school, and during the dinner, Peter met Gwen s father, police captain
George Stacy, where they both had a very tense conversation about Spider Man . Spiderman

Everyman Allegory
Everyman is a morality play that teaches a lesson about how Christians should live and what
they must do to save their souls. Humans over look God s mercy. Caught up with the pleasures
of life and the pursuit of material possessions, people forget to repent, or even acknowledge the
Lord to receive forgiveness for their sins, which He is every ready to give. Godcalls attention to this
near the beginning of the play. No human being can escape the final judgment. God tells Death
that the day will come when every person must undergo a final journey and give an accounting
of his life before the Lord. No man can escape this task; every person will face a day of
reckoning. Everyman begins to show traits that almost all if not every human has. He looks for
someone to complain to on his long journey. Everyman also tries to bring his riches and goods
along with him. The farther he goes along on his trip he begins to lose his 5 senses the only things
that he has known for basically all of his life. All these factors tie into the allegory stating that
Everyman actually does represent every man.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example the character Fellowship establishes the idea of friendship and having others
besides family with you. This was one of the very first things to leave him on his journey. Goods
represents his materialistic objects that he has in his possession and Everyman later realizes that
they also cannot follow him on his trip. The Five Wits represent his five senses such as touch,
taste, and smell. The farther that he gets these five senses slowly begin to leave him. As I stated
above even the main character Everyman represents all of the humans. Good Deeds is the only
character out of all to stay with him on the entire journey. This character depicts all the good things
he has done in the world and for other

Netball Is A Ball Sport Played By Two Teams Of Seven Players
Netball is a ball sport played by two teams of seven players. Its development, derived from early
versions of basketball, began in England in the 1890s. By 1960, international playing rules had
been standardised for the game, and the International Federation of Netball and Women s Basketball
(later renamed the International NetballFederation (INF)) was formed. As of 2011, the INF
comprises more than 60 national teams organized into five global regions.
Games are played on a rectangular court with raised goal rings at each end. Each team attempts
to score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through its goal ring. Players are
assigned specific positions, which define their roles within the team and restrict their movement
to certain areas of the court. During general play, a player with the ball can hold on to it for only
three seconds before shooting for a goal or passing to another player. The winning team is the one
that scores the most goals. Netball games are 60 minutes long. Variations have been developed to
increase the game s pace and appeal to a wider audience.
Netball is most popular in Commonwealth nations, specifically in schools, and is predominantly
played by women. According to the INF, netball is played by more than 20 million people in more
than 80 countries.[12][13] Major transnational competitions take place, including the Netball
Superleague in Great Britain and the ANZ Championship in Australia and New Zealand. Three

George Whitefield And Jonathan Edwards And The Second...
The First Great Awakening (c. 1735 1743) was the development of a religious revival which was
heavily influenced by Calvinist ideals. It was centered around the American Revolution which
was primary focused around the thirteen colonies in which an evangelical Protestant revivalist
wave took the colonies by hold. With this, preachers like George Whitefield, an itinerant
preacher, and Jonathan Edwards, father of the Great Awakening, began to preach to large
bodies of people; spreading their beliefs in emotional ways that touched upon their emotions.
George Whitefield and Jonathan Edwards, both well known circuit riders, embedded fear in
people by claiming God had already chosen who is saved by his salvation. The Second Great
Awakening (c.1795 1830) was experienced across the country due to the advancement in the
nation s economic growth. Preachers often spoke emotionally about their message to increase the
reaction in people. Preaches proclaimed that the power of eternal salvation is in the hands of the
person to decided to be saved and avoid eternal damnation. This ideals were closely influenced by
Arminianism which sinfulness is a choice rather than a destiny, appealing to more people because
of its optimistic outlook. The Second Great Awakening sought out the downfall of the old
Calvinist, changing the harsh ideals into something the people reacted positively to. Preachers
would promote new social reforms that included: women s movement, abolishment of slaves, and
etc. Revivalist during the Second Great Awakening focused on a conversion experience within the
heart of the listener. People gathered in camp meetings, large social gathering were priest would
preach 24/7 for 47 days; lead to large numbers of converts due to their energetic/emotional style of
talking. Ultimately, preachers proclaimed salvation to be a choice.
The preaches would publicly advocate, during the First Great Awakening, was that God has already
decided who will live in eternal salvation (heaven). Jonathan Edwards was a huge influence in the
new religious revival (The Great Awakening) by becoming a founding and central figure. He
believed that the American people were losing interest in religion because they prioritize other

The Movie Wit
I found this movie interesting because I agree with what the film implied on how the universal
constant about being a patient is vulnerability and loss of control. In the movie Wit, you get to see
another side of the medical profession that shows disregard for medical humanities. The film tells
the story of an intellectual, Vivian Bearing, being diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer, the
treatment, and how she is stripped of her personal and professional status in the name of being a
patient. A major theme of this filmis its portrayal of the human condition in a state of dependency
and need by chronicling Vivian s experimental treatment through first person narrative, the film
allows the viewers a peek into the world of a patient suffering... Show more content on

But I flatter myself. The article will not be about me, it will be about my ovaries. With Vivian
becoming more fearful of the treatment and her future, Susie discusses what end of life options
are available. Decisions about the nature of end of life can influence the research objectives; to
revive the patient would lengthen their life and allow the trial to continue. The film ended with
Jason finding out that Vivian has died. He immediately calls the resuscitation team and tries
reviving her because he still sees her has a potential research subject, despite Vivian s decision to
have the do not resuscitate . As I reflect on what I ve seen in this movie, I can say that, being a
medical doctor is not all about the knowledge of every disease, or the making of a miracle drug.
A doctor should see from different perspectives to truly understand their patients. This film taught
me that saving lives is not merely preventing their hearts from stopping but letting them acquire
the quality of life they need and deserve. As a nursing major, I will keep in mind the moral
lessons of this film and will use it as a foundation to treat my future patients, and as to how I want
to be treated by my doctors, especially with respect, empathy, and

Orthodox Jewish Culture
Jewish culture is a specific set of customs, morals, and traditions of the Jewish people starting as
far back as four thousand years ago when Israel and Palestinian territories were still known as
Canaan. Jewish culture is able to fulfill a large majority of people s cultural ideals through their
religious beliefs, praying rituals, views on marriage and family, and their holidays celebrations,
therefore making it acceptable to say that the culture is going to attract a numerous amount of
followers for many years to come. A Jew is member of the people and cultural community whose
traditional religion is Judaism. In order to be considered a Jew, the mother of the newborn child

Judaism follows the Ten Fundamental Principles which was derived from the Torah. The Torah
is the central reference of Judaism. The Jew s Torah is essentially the Christian s Bible.
Although Judaism is the main religion, it branches off into three denominations. These
denominations include: orthodox, conservative, and reform Judaism. Orthodox Judaism is then
divided into modern orthodox and ultra orthodox Judaism. Because Jews are often offended by
the term ultra orthodox, they refer to themselves as Haredi. An orthodox Jew is a person who
follows the principles and practices of traditional Judaism strictly. Modern orthodox Judaism is
a orthodox practice that synthesizes Jewish values and laws with the modern world, while an
ultra orthodox, or Haredi Jew, distances themselves from modern culture. Compared to orthodox
Jews, conservative Jews adhere by the principles and practices of traditional Judaism but allow
some departure. Similar to orthodox Jews, conservative Judaism once broke off into a branch
called reconstructional Judaism. A reconstructionist Jew followed the modern american
movement that viewed Judaism as a progressively evolving civilization rather than a religion
during the late 1920s until the 1940s. This movement was based on the ideas of Mordecai
Kaplan, a rabbi, an essayist, and a Jewish educator. The final denomination is reform Judaism.
Reform Judaism is also known as liberal or progressive Judaism. Reform Judaism is the
abandonment of orthodox Jew aspects in order to adjust to modern changes in political, social, and
cultural life. Although the main goal of reform Judaism is to adjust to modern changes, the
denomination stills follows the moral lessons of the Torah. Because there are denominations that
fit to everybody s needs, it can be assumed that more people will convert to Judaism based on their

Paul Bogard Let There Be Dark Summary
In a world of ever growing developments, the blight of artificial lights is conquering the
darkness of the night. To some, the fading darkness presents a major catastrophe towards human
health, the ecosystem, and culture in general. One of these people is Paul Bogard. In his article,
let there be dark, Bogard cleverly utilized devices such as statistics, imagery, and research
findings across the world to illustrate that the removal of darkness from our nights only causes
severe problems. Bogard first introduced the topic with a personal anecdote that described his
experiences with darkness as a child. Imagery such as hands disappeared before my eyes and
meteors left smoky trails evoked nostalgia among the readers. Suddenly, Bogard transitions from
the romantic descriptions of the past night sky to cold hard statistics of the current generation.
Statistics indicates that only 2/10 children in the US will know a sky dark enough for the Milky
Way, brining awareness to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bogard first discusses the World Health Organization and the American Medical Association s
consensus on the health disorders caused by the lack of darkness. Diseases ranging from minor
ailments such as sleep disorders to severe chronic issues such as diabetes, heart disease, and even
cancer all root from the lack of darkness. Not only does the lack of darkness has taken a toll on
some people s health, but the reduction has caused ecological collapse in parts of the world.
Bogard clearly presents the point that many animal and plant species rely on the darkness of the
night to perform their role in the ecosystem. Ecological functions such as pollination and pest
control would simply collapse under light pollution, the bulldozer of the night. Bogard presented
such dire consequences to reestablish his point about the removal of

A Criminal Deserves To Be Punished In Proportion To The
A criminal deserves to be punished in proportion to the crime he or she has committed. Society
deserves retribution. The retentionists argue that the death penalty is a proportionate punishment
for particularly awful crimes and they use pathos to make us sympathize with the victims of these
crimes. Paul G. Cassell presents the case of Kenneth Allen McDuff who raped, tortured and
murdered at least nine women.i Louis P. Pojman mentions Steven Judy who raped and murdered a

This is not the case, the process is complicated and inconsistant. The offender must first be
convicted of first degree murder which Supreme Court Justice Benjamin Cardozo said ...is much to

has broad limits within wich they can change the grounds of the death penalty. So, the same exact
crime can happen in two different states and in one case the perpetrator will be sentenced to life in
prison and in the other case death.vi As Stephen B. Bright points out, Huston and Philadelphia has
sought the death penalty in every case they can, while the Manhattan and Bronx District Attorneys
have not sought the death penalty in a single case.vii Capital punishment cannot be necessary
retribution if life imprisonment is enough for the same kind of crime. A moral action cannot be
valid if it doesn t apply to everyone in the same position. But what do we do with the worst of the
worst? How do we make sure that their punishment is worse than the others? As Stephen B. Bright
points out, we do have maximum security prisons, where the worst of the worst can be punished as
well as isolated from both the public, the guards and the other prisoners.viii The

So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is

A Day At Montessori Children House
It was a beautiful and sunny day at Montessori Children House. I rang the bell, which indicated
the end of outdoor play time. Children started putting away tricycles and sand toys, stacking the
blocks and walking towards the classroom door. Within a few minutes, the outdoor play area was
cleaned up and almost most of the children returned to the classroom. Over by the oak tree, four

Then I emphasized what I said to him one more time: Play time is over, Allen. You must come
inside the class now. No response. I was so mad that I increased my voice to him. Allen! Get

yelling, I don t want to go inside, and ran to the other side of the playarea. It took several minutes

Novice Investors Make The Same Exact Mistakes
As a real estate investor and advisor, I often see novice investors make the same exact mistakes.
As a result, I decided to create the following list to help novices understand what these common
mistakes are and how to avoid them. The good news is that all of these mistakes can be easily
corrected. The bad news is that any one of these mistakes will seriously limit your potential for
success. In my experience, these are the 9 most common mistakes I see novice real estateinvestors
make:
1) Not getting an education
Getting an education is a critical part of becoming a successful real estate investor. It s much
easier and less costly to educate yourself than to make mistakes in the real world. We are lucky
to live in a country full of educational opportunities for whichever endeavor we want to pursue.
Surprisingly though, not everyone takes the initiative to learn before they take action. This
exposes these people to costly (and sometimes career ending) mistakes that could have easily
been avoided. Some misguided people even complain that the books, courses, or seminars
promoted by real estate experts are too expensive. I guess that depends on where you stand. To
me, they seem cheap compared to what I know can be earned in this business. Perhaps to a
novice though, they may seem expensive. But as the saying goes, If you think education is
expensive, try ignorance. Think about it. Is a $500 course worth it if what you learn only makes
you $5,000 on a single wholesale deal?

collaboration as a competitive tool embedded into a new global supply chain process. (Pearlson

There are many aspects that caused this delay but one of main reason was that the supply chain of
the Boeing 787 Dreamliner was not properly integrated and coordinated. The virtual model of the
Boeing 787 Dreamliner was not up to the mark and it actually failed due to the use of composite
materials, this was also the reason that the project was delayed. This was the first time that Boeing
had outsourced both the manufacturing and design of the 787 to other companies where as for the
other planes Boeing had only outsourced the manufacturing and had kept the design under its own
control. (Cohan 2011).
Boeing contracted with over 50 suppliers after their decision to outsource 60% of its design and
production. This decision was to reduce the cost, this was a very good decision in terms of
reducing cost but Boeing should have given a thought about the risks of outsourcing, which in the
end hit them real hard. The supply chain of Boeing was designed in such a way that Boeing
functions as the final assembler and the integrator. The supply chain was so extensive that parts of
the 787 were being moved globally before they reached the final assembly unit. The 787 s wings
were going from Japan to Washington, fuselage sections 43 from Japan to South Carolina and then
to Washington. There was a lack of communication and coordination between the design engineers

Humanities Human Figure in Art Work Essay
Humanism vs. Realism with Focus of Human Figure Artwork
Middle Eastern, Egyptian and Greek Civilizations
Throughout history the human figure has been demonstrated in Middle Eastern, Egyptian and
Greek sculptures and paintings. Most of these artifacts tend to focus more on humanism than
realism due to Rulers and Gods, geographical areas, resources and events thus, giving them the idea
for the theme of the art they create. These are the reasons that might explain their commonalities or
differences in the representation of the human figure.
For example, during one of our earliest cultures, the Paleolithic period, the Women of Willendorf
sculpture portrays a grossly heavy female figure representing fertility and beauty of being ... Show

A perfect example of this type of sculpture was the Human Headed winged Lion called the Gate
Monster which was made out of limestone, 10 feet, 2.5 inches high, a human head , five legs and
body of a winged lion (Benton amp; DiYanni , p.13) . In comparison, of the Great Sphinx, Giza,
this also has a human head and animal body therefore this doesn t represent realism either. In
contrast, the ( human head represents a ruler, a Pharaoh out of sandstone and it was enormous 65
feet in height ).
In Persia, the Tribute Bearers Bringing Offerings relief sculpture, the human male figures look all
alike except for their heights, head coverings and items they have brought, however their stance is
not natural. In comparison, the Egyptian sculpture of Pharaoh Mycerinus and Queen
Khamerernebty and the Greece sculpture Kouros, both statues pose with one leg forward and their
weight is equal on both, therefore giving them the appearance that they can t move (Benton amp;
DiYanni , p. 64). More comparisons also include the Tribute Bearers Bringing Offerings relief
sculpture, their faces are not straight forward, just showing profiles much like the Egyptian wall

paintings Nobleman Hunting in the Marshes and Ti Watching a Hippopotamus. All of these art
forms are labeled under humanism. In contrast, is the Musicians and and Dancers Egyptian wall

Parkinson s Disease and Body Weight
Parkinson s Disease: Relationship with Parkinson s Disease and Body Weight Ethics are the key
to the safe and reliable supply of services within an industry. Modern medicine has several ethical
standards in place. The College of Nurses (CNO) states that considering ethical issues is essential
to providing care. The ethical framework is in place to guide nurses in the changing times of new
technology and to help prevent and work through ethical conflicts (College of Nurses, 2009, p. 3).
A registered practical nurse has been documenting her patient Mr. Gurt s weight inaccurately.

Gurt is already thin and weak; therefore his bones are as well and he is at a higher risk for
breaking bones or falling because he will have reduced strength. With weakened bones, he is at
risk for osteoporosis, joint pain and inflammation, arthritis, a weakened immune system, and
trouble regulating body temperature which can lead to very preventable complications. Mr.
Gurt s skin is breaking down partly due to environmental factors but mostly due to lack of care.
If the health care staff repositions Mr. Gurt every two to four hours, the rick of ulcers will
decrease, allowing for optimal skin integrity achievement. The registered practical nurse can be
charged with negligence and staff may receive suspension or loss of license to practice or with
restrictions. The nurse may have taught other staff members especially anyone who was new the
improper way to complete a task and documentation. Ultimately, the hospital could become subject
to legal questioning due to the absence of ethical practices. This can prove to be very problematic
as it holds the potential to result in a legal lawsuit due to the inaccuracy of patient information
maintenance. This can cause further implications on the evolution of the hospital as it will be
forced to deal with expenses regarding legal issues that could have been easily avoided. The
hospitals standards will be viewed as incomplete and or not enforced because the nurse has not been
confronted about her actions. The hospitals

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Progeny Testing
Breeding value of the individual estimated on the basis of the performance of the progeny is
called Progeny Testing. If the heritability (h2) of the trait is high and the animal is able to
express the trait by itself then individual selection is the best method. But in case of many traits
it so happens that the trait is expressed in only one sex (i.e., sex limited traits), or when the trait
is expressed after the death of the animal (i.e., slaughter traits), then the breeding value (B.V.) of
the animal can be estimated based on the performance of the relatives (dam, sisters and progeny).
Where B.V. is the additive genetic value or breeding worth of the animal or the value of the
individual based on the mean performance of the progeny. The pedigree selection based on the
performance of dam is not a good selection criterion for the reason of halving process and... Show

Number of progeny to be recorded per sire should be more. Advantages of progeny testing It can
be used for sex limited traits like milk production and slaughter traits in meat animals which has
low heritability. It is also useful to prove whether a sire is free from any recessive gene or not. If
a sire is identified as carrying an undesirable trait then it should be culled. Progeny testing increases
selection intensity. Its accuracy increases with increase in number of progeny. Constraints and
Limitations Small population size and unplanned mating are two major constraints of progeny
testing. Problem of small population size can be avoided if the sires are simultaneously tested in
different associated herds or even by field progeny testing programmes. This will help in increasing
the accuracy of selection, as more number of sires will be tested in different herds with more
number of progenies. On the other hand unplanned mating results in generation of wrong data
which provides hindrance in assessing the true genetic merit of an

Essay Fallacies in the Movie High Noon
HIGH NOON FALLACIES
High Noon, a western film mostly respected by conservative viewers, and endlessly ranked over
by critics. This was an exciting movie considering it was a black and white film. The whole movie
was about the loyalty of a town marshal named Kane and the betrayal of the town. After watching
High Noon, there were a lot of fallacies that were depicted through out the movie such as begging
the question, ad hominem, slippery slope, and Inconsistency. The characters in the movie do a
great job at portraying each of these fallacies. At the beginning of the movie, as Kane and Amy are
riding away for their honeymoon, Kane stops the prairie and claims that he has to go back and
states this is crazy . When Amy questions Kane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following the scene, when Kane asks for volunteer deputies, one of the Individual s gets up and
says, Ain t it true, that Kane no longer a marshal and isn t it true there is personal trouble between
him and Miller? This is another great example of Ad Hominem because once again another
individual is attacking Kane s character rather than tackling the issue that Kane is making in the
scene. The Individual s argument is rejected on the basis of irrelevant fact about Kane. In a key
scene, where characters in the church debate the pros and cons of helping the marshal, the case is
finally made against Kane by the Mayor with the economic rationalist argument that a gunfight in
the streets would be bad for business and the North wont send money for stores and factories. I
believe this scene is a good example of a slippery slope fallacy because the mayor is using fear of
gunfire in streets to support his idea of North not sending money for stores and factories. The
Mayor is not using a good argument/ reason to support his idea. There is no evidence provided
that north won t send money because of gunfire between Kane and Miller. Towards the end of the
film, inconsistency in characters seems to develop. In the scene, where herb shows up at the jail
house ready to fight along side Kane changes his mind after he finds out that it will be just him and
Kane fighting against Miller and his posse. Herb states, it isn t that I don t want out...I volunteered

President Obama s President Bush Essay
Incumbent politicians spend their time in office voting on legislation to benefit their constituents,
crafting legislation to fit party principles, building a reputation for reelection, and crafting a
legacy that will ensure them a spot in history. President Obama s choice to act unilaterally in
signing the Paris Agreement solidifies his legacy by finally putting into effect an international
agreement that has been a work in progress for two decades. The Republican ruled Congress has
been opposing what they claim to be a war on coal since President Obama made climate change a
focus of his second term. Obama s bypass of Congressional approval for the Paris Agreement, an
agreement many see as a treaty, will strain Congressional/Executiverelations for terms to come by
encouraging members of Congress to be cautious of unilateral actions while encouraging the
President to take advantage of them. The Paris Agreement is made up of 195 nations who plan to
cut their greenhouse gas emissions in an attempt to slow down the increase in the global
temperature. President Obama s decision to sign this agreement does not only promote his personal
climate change legacy but the climate change legacy of the United Statesof America. Since this
environmental pact is only legally binding when at least 55 countries representing 55 percent of
global emissions sign on, a United States signature could very well be the difference between a
revolutionary global climate change policy and

Illich s Contributions Of Education In Public Education
Illich has cited three ways to improve the education of the poor despite more costly treatment 1.
Three billion dollars are insufficient to improve the perform ance of six million children by a
measurable amount; or
2. The money was incompetently spent: different curricula, better administration, further
concentration of the funds on the poor child, and more research are needed and would do the trick;
or 3. Educational disadvantage cannot be cured by relying on education within the school.
Illich has questioned our assumptions about schooling and left us with a gateway to start thinking
about our question, Is public education necessary.? A critical thing to mention here is that he made
a distinction between education and schooling. Illich has made a distinction between the two ways
of distributing chances, one is based on certification of passage through a curriculum for a length of
time whereas another is based on demonstration of a particular skill i.e. acquisition of knowledge
and experience. I agree with the Illich s distinction between education and schooling. According to
Illich, education should be an intellectual endeavor to better oneself by obtaining a greater
knowledge base, while schooling, is institutionalized education which deters the mind from relying
on oneself for knowledge and being more dependent upon the system to go further in life. I totally
agree with Illich that schooling does institutionalize education. I think that schooling on the

Descartes on Human Freedom
Having consider that Rene Descartes believed the presence of human freedom, it is not discernible
and clear what he held this freedom to consist in. Following to Descartes s argument that man are
the supreme source of human mistake or error and certainly not God based on the Fourth
Meditation, he offers and presents an interpretation of the activity of the human will and how it
may be described as free will. Assumed that Descartes discusses the freedom of choice and will as
similar and compatible in his argument, critics opt to emphasis on it to know Descartes s certain
notions on human freedom.
Descartes illustrates an analogy between human will and the divine, stressing that it is human
will which is utmost perfect function because it lets them to bear in some way the image and
likeness of God (CSM 2:40). Rene Descartes understands and identifies that God s will is
certainly much higher than man s own in power. Though, Descartes also confesses that regardless
of this, God s will does not seem any greater than mine when considered as will in the essential and
strict sense. (CSM 2:40)

support their country or team, in playing that sport they are interested in. rugby has had a huge part
in supporting eden park, due to the 2011 rugby world cup being held there.
Founders: the founder of Eden park was a man named Harry Ryan, as he walked past this piece
of land he saw a space where he could play his favourite game, cricket. Soon enough construction
began and soon Eden park was born. The idea for the Colosseum came from a man named Titus
Flavius, this was due to the amount of people coming to the games before the Colosseum was
built. Up to 60,000 people would come and watch the games in a field. Titus saw that too many
people were coming so he thought about building a structure that was able to hold up to 80,000
people at a time. This was also for people to be comfortable at the games. Conclusion: In
conclusion the Colosseum and eden park have their differences and similarities. They both carry
their own history and have a lot of stories to tell. Without the Colosseum we probably wouldn t
have most of the structures we see today, and many people should be grateful for the time and effort

industries such as services. It should come to no surprise given the advances in technologies across
the globe, that an industry that is heavily technological based should also follow suit. This allows
for both old and new organizations to tap in the growth of both the human and technological capital

can thrive in today s highly competitive global economy. However, given this realization, the
shareholder should also be a little cautious, because Comcast still faces a number of obstacles that
might impede or compromise the growth of expected return when shareholders invest in their

cheaper telecommunication services that still uphold the consumer s expectations in regards of
entertainment, such as streamlining content from the internet and offering the consumer the choice
of preferring skinnier packages (cable/TV programming) at cheaper rates. These rising competitors
will give Comcast a run for their money as consumers will switch from the traditional cable outlets,
such as Comcast and Cox, in favor for a service such as Google or Sling. Another thing to take into
account is the uncertainty of the FCC s decisions at imposing stronger regulations in regards to
broadband width and internet connections; the Net Neutrality Act might place a hindrance on the

A traditional ceremony consists of feeding friends and visitors attending, the wedding ceremony
would take place in the hogan with the groom and his father or uncle sitting on the west side
followed by the bride and her father or uncle. Sitting beside the boy on his right side they would
be positioned towards the east which was facing the door. Starting with the girl she would pour
water onto the boy s hands and he would wash them, then he would do the same to her washing
her hands, this symbolized purity and cleansing. A medicine man would then pray quietly while
arranging a corn meal mush decorated with pollen, they would then take turns eating the mush
starting with the boy followed by the girl. Usually they were instructed to eat it all, but if it was
not all eaten it would be passed to each of the boys family members so they could have a bite.
Once the mush was eaten the mother of the boy would keep the basket where the mush had been

some believe it is the reason for divorce and family problems. Once the wedding ceremony was

The difference is in how we relate to our sin and how we deal with it. Those in a covenant
relationship with God are those who walk in the ways of God. In the
Old Testament, one of the ways of such a walk, because of God s mercy, was to make animal
sacrifice for sin. In the New Testament, confessing one s sin to God is a part of walking in the
covenant ways of God (1 John 1:9). So then, when the believer sins it is not because he has turned
aside from God and is no longer walking in the way of God, backslidden in heart and filled with his
own ways, but rather because of the weakness of his flesh he may fall into sin. Yet he abhors his
sin, confesses it, and seeks to forsake it. If we define backsliding as individual acts of sin in the
believer s life we would rightly say that a believer, not only can, but will backslide. If

Evolution Of The Freeway System Essay
The Evolution of the Freeway System in Los Angeles
Society has always been a continuous community of movement; trying to get from one place to
another. Commuting citizens, cargo and information has always been a significant contributor to
the economic and societal life of many municipalities. From the industrial age, society has been
progressively reliant on different transportation systems in order to accomplish trade, distribution of
supplies, tourism and so on. As the suburban sprawl continues to expand, technology advances. The
resources needed to attain successful transportation has evolved over many historical revolutions to
accommodate a growing population and the immense density of a growing city. Developments in
mechanics has permitted people to move faster with greater amount of supplies and travel longer
distances, but not without challenges. Urban planners have an outlying role in freeway
development that explains the challenges needed to be overcome to excel in successful
transportation services. Urban planners have the duty to conduct political negotiations between
different levels of the government to excel and expand our urban society. Information needed to
fully understand the evolution will demonstrate the importance and impact freeway systems have
on urban and suburban lifestyles.

regulated traffic by using different roads that are composed together, will result in

Igbo Culture Essay
Igbo culture includes the various customs, practices and traditions of the people. It comprises
archaic practices as well as new concepts added into the Igbo culture either through evolution or
outside influences. These customs and traditions include the Igbo people s visual art, use of
language, music and dance forms, as well as their attire, cuisine and language dialects. Because
of their various subgroups, the variety of their culture is heightened further. The Igbo language
was used by John Goldsmith as an example to justify deviating from the classical linear model
of phonology as laid out in The Sound Pattern of English. It is written in the Roman script as
well as the Nsibidi formalized ideograms, which is used by the Ekpe society and Okonko
fraternity, but is no longer widely used.[115] Nsibidi ideography existed among the Igbo before
the 16th century, but died out after it became popular among secret societies, who made Nsibidi
a secret form of communication.[116] Igbo language is difficult because of the huge number of
dialects, its richness in prefixes and suffixes and its heavy intonation.[117] Igbo is a tonal
language and there are hundreds of different Igbo dialects and Igboid languages, such as the
Ikwerre and Ekpeye languages.[5] In 1939, Dr. Ida C. Ward led a... Show more content on

If this is one of the more advanced airports, how can FOD be prevented in this type of environment?
Multi million dollar C 17 cargo aircrafts are transiting through these airfields daily. Although this
is not strictly related to military operations, the National Aerospace FOD Prevention, Inc.
estimates the cost of FOD to the global aerospace industry at $4 billion annually (Bachlet, 2001).
FOD costs for the military each year typically run in the millions of dollars. In fiscal year 2003
alone, FOD cost the Air Force nearly 24 million dollars, diverting valuable resources needed for
the readiness of our Air Expeditionary Forces (Abela, 2003). These dollars are spent largely
repairing aircraft engine damage caused by the ingestion of foreign objects from runways and
airport FOD prevention techniques. Do these figures really relate to the military at all? How does
the Air Force combat these hazards?
Although it is much harder at austere airfields, effective FOD control programs can still be put into
place greatly reducing the high cost of foreign object damage and the potential for injury and even
death. General guidelines for prevention include training, inspection, maintenance, and
coordination. The foundation of a good prevention program is initial and recurring training for all
aerospace personnel in the identification and elimination

Should Marriage for Same Sex Couples be Legal in United...
Marriage as generally define is the union between one man and one woman. However a recent
debate over same sex marriage has stirred a nationwide debate reverberating in the halls of
Congress, at the White House, in dozens of state courtrooms and legislatures, and is also becoming
a speech making topic for election campaigns at both the national and state levels. As the debate for
this controversial topic rages on, the American religious community view on the topic remains
deeply divided over the matter and over the morality of homosexualityin general. Granting legal
marriage right to gays and lesbians would primarily alter the idea of marriage, ignore a child s
right to a mother and father, and expands government control of marriage.... Show more content on

People against same sex marriage can use the doctrine that separates states from church in order
to stop the government from compelling them to accept a new definition of marriage. Under
this doctrine, if the government decides to grant the legal right to same sex marriage, the
government will be violating the freedom of religion of people under the civil rights of the
Constitution, who hold the deep believe that homosexuality is morally wrong in the society.
The role of marriage in the society is a major topic that it is thought in public schools. If same
sex marriage is legalized, public schools would have to teach the pupil about same sex marriage
as equivalent to opposite sex marriage which will violate the beliefs of many parents who are
against same sex marriage. According to Stanley Kurtz, a social commentator, he argued that
among the likeliest effects of legalizing same sex marriage is to take us down a slippery slope to
legalized polygamy and polyamory. Marriage will be transformed into a variety of relationship
contracts, linking two, three, or more individuals weakly and temporarily in every conceivable
combination of male and female (Weekly Standard).

Cautions Of Outcomes Of A Literature Review
The benefits to a literature review include improving our understanding and knowledge of the
topic or subject area, to identify our weak and strong areas, and to update the reader (Taylor,
2010). When conducting a literature review we need to use theory as a guide because when we are
developing research questions, theory can lead us to ask certain researchquestions or to word our
questions in a specific way (Krysik Finn, 2013, p.67). In addition, a literature review allows us to
find reliable peer reviewed sources that apply to our research question and the availability of
sources if there is not enough information than our topic would not be effective for doing research.
Cautions of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Information from the Internet is especially prone to error and bias because there are no controls on
its publication. Consequently, we must carefully evaluate which Internet sources are credible and
which are not using accepted principles of critical analysis (Krysik Finn, 2013, p.60). When
doing research if the topic does not have enough information than it is important to move on and if
the area is too broad it might need to be re evaluated because it could take too much time to cover
it all. The outcome for the researcher is spending time finding information that is credible versus
not credible and not wasting time on a topic that does not fit the criteria versus the one that does.

Women Across The World Encounter Stereotypes
Women across the world encounter stereotypes. In the United States, our biggest stereotype has to
do with women s physical appearance, it is frowned upon to be overweight and to have curves. The
United States is seen as a modern country and the idea of a domestic household during the upraise
of the Feminist Movement during the 1960s 70s. That is the struggle that India is going through
currently. Instead of going with the wave of the new movement towards modernization, half of the
country is oppressing it and the other half is embracing it. The World Before Her is a documentary
over the two separate paths of two young women that are at the heart of the transitioning of their
country. One young womanhas hopes to become a model and win the nationally known pageant
Miss India which is equivalent to Miss America. The second young woman is the exact
opposite. She is tomboyish, she will kill to keep her countries values as well as train other
young girls to hold the same values as she does. The documentary was made to target the eye of
people like you and I, it is a prime example of the best of both worlds. The people of India may
benefit from seeing this film because it shows how their country is struggling with the preservation
of their culture but on the other hand, Americans may feel offended because the Indians that are
interviewed make it seem as though being modern is a bad thing. Modernization is not a bad thing,
without it, people will not be able to adapt to their

the remote control cars to detonate the explosives from a distance however didn t work and the
remotes were found in the SUV they were driving. The latest question they are trying to answer

HMGB1 And Alzheimer s Disease Analysis
HMGB1 is a prototypic damage associated molecular pattern (DAMP) protein highly secreted by
activated macrophages and monocytes as a cytokine mediator of inflammation. This DNA binding
nuclear protein is released both passively during cell death and actively following cytokine
stimulation. It is also implicated in both infectious and sterile inflammatory disorders [32 36]
affecting the central nervous system(CNS) such as in Parkinson s disease (PD) [37], multiple
sclerosis (MS) [38,39], ischemic stroke [40], traumatic brain injury (TBI) [41] and Alzheimer s
disease AD [42 44]. HMGB1 activates cells by differential engagement of several membrane
receptors including advanced glycation end products (RAGE), toll like receptor 2 (TLR2), and
TLR4 which are primarily responsible for HMGB1 pro inflammatory activity and BBB
impairment [45,46]. Specific to the proposed work, several studies have clearly outlined the role
of OS in the development of microvascular and cardiovascular complications of 2DM [47].

Essay Korematsu v. United States
Korematsu v. United States
Korematsu v. United States (1944) actually began December 7, 1941 with the Japanese attack on
Pearl Harbor. The attack on Pearl Harbor then began the conquering of Wake, Guam, Philippines,
Malaya, Singapore, Dutch East Indies, New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Burma. With the attack
on Pearl Harbor, racism, which was hardly unfamiliar, became an even greater problem. The
Japanese Government s attacks on Americans including; torturing, raping, and murdering was an
excuse for Americans aversion towards the Japanese. Public officials began to lock up the Japanese
people simply for their own good, for protection against the hate crimes.

Fred Korematsu also an American citizen of Japanese descent was convicted of not reporting to his
concentration camp. His reason was that he was unwilling to leave his sweetheart, Endo. Fred
Korematsu was arrested, convicted and also obtained a certiorari of the Supreme Court just like
Gordon Hirabayashi.
The Korematsu v. United States (1943), case was seen as a case of racism from General DeWitt,
interest groups and particular members of the Supreme Court. Justice Black delivered the opinion
of the court. Concerns pressing public necessity justified the existence of the legal restriction, which

Interpretation, In light of the principles we announced in Hirabayashi v. United States (1943), we
are unable to conclude that it was beyond the war power of Congress and the Executive to
exclude those of Japanese ancestry from the West Coast war are. (pgs.1383 1384). Also, as in
Hirabayashi, it could not be without reason that there were disloyal members of the Japanese
ancestry population. In summary, Justice Black confirms that Korematsu was not absolved from

Although the Olmec, Teotihuacan and Post Classic are civilizations that are years apart from each

forms of the objects of visual culture remain constant with the passage of time, while the symbolism
and ideology behind objects of visual cultureare altered by the different civilizations that adopt the
form and by the passage of time. Form and style are directly correlated, as the style being used to

While certain symbols and figures maintained the significance and meanings despite the passage of
time, art styles utilized by the different Mesoamerican civilizations evolved with the passage of
time. Having a unified system in which each of the figures possessed the same meanings and
importance for each civilization, allowed for the emergence of an art style that could be easily
understood and utilized by most. Before the Postclassical International system, there was not a
unified art style used through Mesoamerica; this system was an expression of the unification
among the dominant religious and political views at the time after the fall of Teotihuacan and
before the rise of Tula (Kubler Ecleticism 172). Developing a unique, yet universal style was
enabled by the similarities in the ideologies of the different Mesoamerican civilizations. Through
repeated interaction, the symbols and styles merged. In order to create a system different cultures
could understand and identify, the meaning attributed to each of the symbols had to be somewhat
similar throughout the different regions. The merger could not have occurred if the symbolized
used by the different population did not resemble each other. Due to their similarity, with repeated
interaction the

Preparing exit strategies now, not only for fiscal stimulus, but also for government support for the
financial sector and hard hit industries, will enhance the effectiveness of these measures in the short
term, as this depends upon clarity regarding the pace with which such measures will be withdrawn.
Since financial markets, businesses and consumers are forward looking, expectations are factored
into decision making today. The precise timing of exit strategies will depend on the strength of the
recovery, the exposure of Member States to the crisis and prevailing internal and external
imbalances. Part of the fiscal stimulus stemming from the EERP will taper off in 2011, but needs to
be followed up by sizeable fiscal consolidation in following years to reverse the unsustainable debt
build up. In the financial sector, government guarantees and holdings in financial institutions will
need to be gradually unwound as the private sector gains strength, while carefully balancing
financial stability with competitiveness considerations. Close coordination will be important.
Vertical coordination between the various strands of economic policy (fiscal, structural, financial)
will ensure that the withdrawal of government measures is properly sequenced an important
consideration as turning points may differ across policy areas.

Anger In King Lear
Anger is a common theme in literature that shapes and molds characters into who they are. The
extent and range of how far anger can be varies from story to story. In William Shakespeares King
Lear, anger goes to a far extent. This can be seen through Edmund s self pity and anger towards
Gloucester and Edgar. His angerresults him into manipulation and vengence. Goneril and Regan s
anger is violent and causes them to lash out at anyone who crosses them. King Lears anger causes
him to be hasty and excessively abrasive. In William Shakespeares King Lear, the excessive
amount and extent of anger is shown through Edmund s manipulation to his father and Edgar,
Goneril and Regans violence and King Lear s hastiness.

They are ruthless and determined in getting rid of King Lear s knights. It is understandable for
Goneril to be angry as the knights are quite rambunctious and harrass female servants. But,
Goneril admits the true reason she wants to throw them out is to strip Lear of his power. This
man hath had good counsel. A hundred knights! Tis politic and safe to let him keep at point a
hundred knights! Yes, that, on every dream, each buzz, each fancy, each complaint, dislike, he
may enguard his dotage with their powers and hold our lives in mercy. Oswald, I say! (1.4.340

heartlessly throws out her father and his knights leaving them stranded. Their anger goes to an
even higher extreme when Regan and Cornwall torture and pluck Gloucesters eyeballs out for
helping King Lear. See t shalt thou never. Fellows, hold the chair. Upon these eyes of thine I ll set
my foot. (3.7.65 66) Regan, much like her sister, is sadistic and cruel. Regan enjoys seeing
Gloucester suffer as she wants to tightly tie him to a chair Hard, hard. O filthy traitor! (3.7.30)
Goneril and Regans anger causes them to become violent and hateful. When they are angry, they
result to brutal behaviour making it evident that the extent of anger is excessive in King

There Have Been Numerous Historical Evidences Shown About
There have been numerous historical evidences shown about the Pre colonial history of Black
kingdoms in Africa. Many historians have concluded that the people that inhabit Pre colonial Africa
were anthropologically Black. However, there has been so much controversy and misconception
about the ethnicity of ancient Egyptiansby many historians. The controversy is due to many
ethnocentric historians and anthropologists attributing the development of the Egyptian civilization
to the Caucasian people. Dr. Herbert J. Foster, historian from Staten Island Community College,

There were many quotes throughout the article by anthropologists that echoed the sentiment that it
was the Hamites who settled and helped develop Egypt. One notable anthropologist that Dr. Herbert
wrote about was C. G. Seligman. Seligman solidified the new Hamitic Hypothesis by praising the
success and accomplishments that happened in Africa and Egypt to the Caucasian Hamites. Dr.
Herbert then noted that Seligman s theory, still persists in the writings of numerous anthropologists
and historians. Dr. Herbert was able to use evidences from different fields such as anthropology and
history to understand the controversy surrounding the Hamitic Hypothesis.
Dr. Herbert uses scientific, archeological and historical evidences to argue that the ethnicity of
Egyptians was black; and that they were major contributors to the Egyptian civilization. Historical
evidence was used to support the argument that there were blacks contributing to the expansion of
Egypt. Dr. Herbert quoted an author of African History, Basil Davidson, who argued, that the
ancient ancestors of present day Africa were an important and perhaps dominant element among the
people who fathered early Egyptian civilization. Herbert used scientific studies to help support the
claim that Davidson made. Dr. Herbert first talked about the study done in 1905 by Randall McIver
and Thompson who surveyed ancient Egyptian skulls. Randall McIver and Thompson

Walmart s stock of such a large variety of products makes it one of most useful retail company for an everyday consumer. This and the willingness to expand and innovate is probably why Walmart is so successful today. In 1962, Sam Walton founded Walmart in Rogers, Arkansas on the principle of keeping the customer happy by providing them with the lowest priced goods on the market (Press 2004). He really wanted to make the lives of his customers better by selling them cheap goods so people can have more spending cash to make their lives better. • 5. Everyman Allegory Everyman is a morality play that teaches a lesson about how Christians should live and what they must do to save their souls. Humans over look God s mercy. Caught up with the pleasures of life and the pursuit of material possessions, people forget to repent, or even acknowledge the Lord to receive forgiveness for their sins, which He is every ready to give. Godcalls attention to this near the beginning of the play. No human being can escape the final judgment. God tells Death that the day will come when every person must undergo a final journey and give an accounting of his life before the Lord. No man can escape this task; every person will face a day of reckoning. Everyman begins to show traits that almost all if not every human has. He looks for someone to complain to on his long journey. Everyman also tries to bring his riches and goods along with him. The farther he goes along on his trip he begins to lose his 5 senses the only things that he has known for basically all of his life. All these factors tie into the allegory stating that Everyman actually does represent every man.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Five Wits represent his five senses such as touch, taste, and smell. The farther that he gets these five senses slowly begin to leave him. • 7. Netball Is A Ball Sport Played By Two Teams Of Seven Players Netball is a ball sport played by two teams of seven players. Its development, derived from early versions of basketball, began in England in the 1890s. By 1960, international playing rules had been standardised for the game, and the International Federation of Netball and Women s Basketball (later renamed the International NetballFederation (INF)) was formed. As of 2011, the INF comprises more than 60 national teams organized into five global regions. Games are played on a rectangular court with raised goal rings at each end. Each team attempts to score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through its goal ring. Players are assigned specific positions, which define their roles within the team and restrict their movement to certain areas of the court. During general play, a player with the ball can hold on to it for only three seconds before shooting for a goal or passing to another player. The winning team is the one that scores the most goals. Netball games are 60 minutes long. Variations have been developed to increase the game s pace and appeal to a wider audience. Netball is most popular in Commonwealth nations, specifically in schools, and is predominantly played by women. According to the INF, netball is played by more than 20 million people in more than 80 countries.[12][13] Major transnational competitions take place, including the Netball Superleague in Great Britain and the ANZ Championship in Australia and New Zealand. • 8. George Whitefield And Jonathan Edwards And The Second... The First Great Awakening (c. 1735 1743) was the development of a religious revival which was heavily influenced by Calvinist ideals. It was centered around the American Revolution which was primary focused around the thirteen colonies in which an evangelical Protestant revivalist wave took the colonies by hold. With this, preachers like George Whitefield, an itinerant preacher, and Jonathan Edwards, father of the Great Awakening, began to preach to large bodies of people; spreading their beliefs in emotional ways that touched upon their emotions. George Whitefield and Jonathan Edwards, both well known circuit riders, embedded fear in people by claiming God had already chosen who is saved by his salvation. The Second Great Awakening (c.1795 1830) was experienced across the country due to the advancement in the nation s economic growth. Preachers often spoke emotionally about their message to increase the reaction in people. Preaches proclaimed that the power of eternal salvation is in the hands of the person to decided to be saved and avoid eternal damnation. This ideals were closely influenced by Arminianism which sinfulness is a choice rather than a destiny, appealing to more people because of its optimistic outlook. The Second Great Awakening sought out the downfall of the old Calvinist, changing the harsh ideals into something the people reacted positively to. Preachers would promote new social reforms that included: women s movement, abolishment of slaves, and etc. Revivalist during the Second Great Awakening focused on a conversion experience within the heart of the listener. People gathered in camp meetings, large social gathering were priest would preach 24/7 for 47 days; lead to large numbers of converts due to their energetic/emotional style of talking. Ultimately, preachers proclaimed salvation to be a choice. The preaches would publicly advocate, during the First Great Awakening, was that God has already decided who will live in eternal salvation (heaven). • 9. The Movie Wit I found this movie interesting because I agree with what the film implied on how the universal constant about being a patient is vulnerability and loss of control. In the movie Wit, you get to see another side of the medical profession that shows disregard for medical humanities. The film tells the story of an intellectual, Vivian Bearing, being diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer, the treatment, and how she is stripped of her personal and professional status in the name of being a patient. A major theme of this filmis its portrayal of the human condition in a state of dependency and need by chronicling Vivian s experimental treatment through first person narrative, the film allows the viewers a peek into the world of a patient suffering... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But I flatter myself. The article will not be about me, it will be about my ovaries. With Vivian becoming more fearful of the treatment and her future, Susie discusses what end of life options are available. Decisions about the nature of end of life can influence the research objectives; to revive the patient would lengthen their life and allow the trial to continue. The film ended with Jason finding out that Vivian has died. He immediately calls the resuscitation team and tries reviving her because he still sees her has a potential research subject, despite Vivian s decision to have the do not resuscitate . As I reflect on what I ve seen in this movie, I can say that, being a medical doctor is not all about the knowledge of every disease, or the making of a miracle drug. A doctor should see from different perspectives to truly understand their patients. This film taught me that saving lives is not merely preventing their hearts from stopping but letting them acquire the quality of life they need and deserve. As a nursing major, I will keep in mind the moral lessons of this film and will use it as a foundation to treat my future patients, and as to how I want to be treated by my doctors, especially with respect, empathy, and ... Orthodox Jewish Culture Jewish culture is a specific set of customs, morals, and traditions of the Jewish people starting as far back as four thousand years ago when Israel and Palestinian territories were still known as Canaan. Jewish culture is able to fulfill a large majority of people s cultural ideals through their religious beliefs, praying rituals, views on marriage and family, and their holidays celebrations, therefore making it acceptable to say that the culture is going to attract a numerous amount of followers for many years to come. Judaism follows the Ten Fundamental Principles which was derived from the Torah. The Torah is the central reference of Judaism. The Jew s Torah is essentially the Christian s Bible. Although Judaism is the main religion, it branches off into three denominations. These denominations include: orthodox, conservative, and reform Judaism. Orthodox Judaism is then divided into modern orthodox and ultra orthodox Judaism. Because Jews are often offended by the term ultra orthodox, they refer to themselves as Haredi. An orthodox Jew is a person who follows the principles and practices of traditional Judaism strictly. Modern orthodox Judaism is a orthodox practice that synthesizes Jewish values and laws with the modern world, while an ultra orthodox, or Haredi Jew, distances themselves from modern culture. Compared to orthodox Jews, conservative Jews adhere by the principles and practices of traditional Judaism but allow some departure. Similar to orthodox Jews, conservative Judaism once broke off into a branch called reconstructional Judaism. A reconstructionist Jew followed the modern american movement that viewed Judaism as a progressively evolving civilization rather than a religion during the late 1920s until the 1940s. This movement was based on the ideas of Mordecai Kaplan, a rabbi, an essayist, and a Jewish educator. The final denomination is reform Judaism. Reform Judaism is also known as liberal or progressive Judaism. Reform Judaism is the abandonment of orthodox Jew aspects in order to adjust to modern changes in political, social, and cultural life. Although the main goal of reform Judaism is to adjust to modern changes, the denomination stills follows the moral lessons of the Torah. • 12. Paul Bogard Let There Be Dark Summary In a world of ever growing developments, the blight of artificial lights is conquering the darkness of the night. To some, the fading darkness presents a major catastrophe towards human health, the ecosystem, and culture in general. One of these people is Paul Bogard. In his article, let there be dark, Bogard cleverly utilized devices such as statistics, imagery, and research findings across the world to illustrate that the removal of darkness from our nights only causes severe problems. Bogard first introduced the topic with a personal anecdote that described his experiences with darkness as a child. Imagery such as hands disappeared before my eyes and meteors left smoky trails evoked nostalgia among the readers. Suddenly, Bogard transitions from the romantic descriptions of the past night sky to cold hard statistics of the current generation. As a result, I decided to create the following list to help novices understand what these common mistakes are and how to avoid them. In my experience, these are the 9 most common mistakes I see novice real estateinvestors make: 1) Not getting an education Getting an education is a critical part of becoming a successful real estate investor. It s much easier and less costly to educate yourself than to make mistakes in the real world. We are lucky to live in a country full of educational opportunities for whichever endeavor we want to pursue. Surprisingly though, not everyone takes the initiative to learn before they take action. This exposes these people to costly (and sometimes career ending) mistakes that could have easily been avoided. Some misguided people even complain that the books, courses, or seminars promoted by real estate experts are too expensive. I guess that depends on where you stand. The virtual model of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner was not up to the mark and it actually failed due to the use of composite materials, this was also the reason that the project was delayed. This was the first time that Boeing had outsourced both the manufacturing and design of the 787 to other companies where as for the other planes Boeing had only outsourced the manufacturing and had kept the design under its own control. If the heritability (h2) of the trait is high and the animal is able to express the trait by itself then individual selection is the best method. But in case of many traits it so happens that the trait is expressed in only one sex (i.e., sex limited traits), or when the trait is expressed after the death of the animal (i.e., slaughter traits), then the breeding value (B.V.) of the animal can be estimated based on the performance of the relatives (dam, sisters and progeny). Progeny testing increases selection intensity. Its accuracy increases with increase in number of progeny. Constraints and Limitations Small population size and unplanned mating are two major constraints of progeny testing. Problem of small population size can be avoided if the sires are simultaneously tested in different associated herds or even by field progeny testing programmes. The Individual s argument is rejected on the basis of irrelevant fact about Kane. In a key scene, where characters in the church debate the pros and cons of helping the marshal, the case is finally made against Kane by the Mayor with the economic rationalist argument that a gunfight in the streets would be bad for business and the North wont send money for stores and factories. I believe this scene is a good example of a slippery slope fallacy because the mayor is using fear of gunfire in streets to support his idea of North not sending money for stores and factories. The Mayor is not using a good argument/ reason to support his idea. There is no evidence provided that north won t send money because of gunfire between Kane and Miller. In the Old Testament, one of the ways of such a walk, because of God s mercy, was to make animal sacrifice for sin. In the New Testament, confessing one s sin to God is a part of walking in the covenant ways of God (1 John 1:9). So then, when the believer sins it is not because he has turned aside from God and is no longer walking in the way of God, backslidden in heart and filled with his own ways, but rather because of the weakness of his flesh he may fall into sin. Yet he abhors his sin, confesses it, and seeks to forsake it. These customs and traditions include the Igbo people s visual art, use of language, music and dance forms, as well as their attire, cuisine and language dialects. Although this is not strictly related to military operations, the National Aerospace FOD Prevention, Inc. estimates the cost of FOD to the global aerospace industry at $4 billion annually (Bachlet, 2001). FOD costs for the military each year typically run in the millions of dollars. In fiscal year 2003 alone, FOD cost the Air Force nearly 24 million dollars, diverting valuable resources needed for the readiness of our Air Expeditionary Forces (Abela, 2003). These dollars are spent largely repairing aircraft engine damage caused by the ingestion of foreign objects from runways and airport FOD prevention techniques. Do these figures really relate to the military at all? How does the Air Force combat these hazards? Although it is much harder at austere airfields, effective FOD control programs can still be put into place greatly reducing the high cost of foreign object damage and the potential for injury and even death. People against same sex marriage can use the doctrine that separates states from church in order to stop the government from compelling them to accept a new definition of marriage. Under this doctrine, if the government decides to grant the legal right to same sex marriage, the government will be violating the freedom of religion of people under the civil rights of the Constitution, who hold the deep believe that homosexuality is morally wrong in the society. The role of marriage in the society is a major topic that it is thought in public schools. If same sex marriage is legalized, public schools would have to teach the pupil about same sex marriage as equivalent to opposite sex marriage which will violate the beliefs of many parents who are against same sex marriage.
