Persuasive Essay On Save Bees
Save the Bees
The presence of a bee generally scares people. So they swat at it, which makes the bee angry and
defensive, which causes the bee to sting. Once the bee stings someone, it dies. Most people might
think their death is a good thing. Unfortunately, various species of bees have been added to the
endangered species list (Kennedy). Bees pollinate about 70% of the crops used by 90% of the world
(What Would Happen) and as of February 2017, 10 million bees have died since 2010 ( Bennett). Bees
need to be saved to ensure the Earth s survival, along with our own.
There are many things believed to be the cause of bee endangerment. Of the survey conducted, 18%
believe the cause is from chemicals used on plants such as pesticides; 25% believe it is because people
do not like bees and kill them; 13% believe it is from habitat destruction; 25 % believe it is from
natural causes. Overall, the general population is correct with regard to why bees have become
endangered. Lauren Bennett says the main cause of the rapid decline in bee populations is from
natural causes such as global warming and colony collapse disorder, which is when bees abandon their
hive and causes the hive to die as well. Marla Spivak, says it is from parasites. Henry Samuel says it is
from neonicotinoids, which is a pesticide that is similar to nicotine.
The effects of their endangerment, and possible extinction, could potentially lead to our populations
decreasing at alarming rates. The Earth would lose

inflict suffering and significant casualties. For example, chlorine, phosgene, and mustard gas were

weapons have impacted more than a million deaths. But, there are weapons of mass destruction in
place used by terrorists. Weapons of mass destruction include Nuclear, biological, radiological, and

The Sandwich Generation Essay
Amy Tan begins by announcing, I am not a scholar of English...I cannot give you much more than
personal opinions on the English language and its variations in this country and others. How does this
opening set up your expectations for the rest of the essay? Why do you think she chose to begin by
denying her own authority?
The introduction Tan decided to use presents the reader with a strong sense of the kind of individual
she is. By saying I am not a scholar of English , Tan is revealing how humble she is. Amy Tan has
written many novels and essays (some of which have been nationally recognized). Yet, she starts off
her essay by stating that this is just a product of her opinion and that it is in no way superior to any
others opinion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a writer, this exposure to all of these Englishes has affected her greatly. She no longer focuses on
writing to the readers who can understand English perfectly. Tan s understanding of the multifaceted
Englishes present in our nation allow her to get her message across to a larger audience.
How does writing for a literary audience affect the language Tan primarily uses in the essay? What
kind of English do you think she believes her audience speaks? Why? Support your answer with
quotations from the text. Tan is aware that the literary audience will have a higher expectation of her
writing. Therefore, she does not write in the manner in which her mother would speak ( broken
English ). However, throughout her essay, any reader, whether an English scholar or student would
easily be able to understand what Tan is trying to convey through her writing. In her essay Tan states:
Fortunately, for reasons I won t get into today, I later decided I should envision a reader for the stories
I would write. And the reader I decided upon was my mother. Tan s writing fully expresses the nature

The Causes Of The BCG Interventions
Factors behind the second paradox
The biggest difference between Japan and the low TB incidence countries for the interventions for
children is to use the BCG vaccination as a routine (Ministry of Health Labour and Welfare, 2016).
BCG is the only vaccination against TB (British Medical Association , 2013). It stands for Bacilli
Calmette Guerin which is named after two French researchers who developed this vaccine. The first
administration was in Paris in 1921 and then BCG was accepted in Europe (Daniel, 2006; Frith, 2014).
United Nations International Children s Emergency Fund (UNICEF; now United Nations Children s

Japan has a good healthcare system (OECD, 2015), and it was estimated that universal health
coverage and social protection was about 87%, which is one of the highest proportions in the world, in
2015 (WHO, 2017). Moreover, the rate of MDR TB patients was 0.5%, and Japan is the fifth largest
donor to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Kunii , 2017). In light of these
facts, the Japanese situation seems to be different from what is occurring globally. With regards to
public health, an important framework for considering the sustainability and resilience of possible
implementations is economy, society and environment (Martin, 2015, p. 81). Hence, applying this
framework to Japan, the society facet is its sizeable elderly population and the environmental facet
involves both patient and doctor delay. The key factor in terms of the economic aspect is Japan s
socially vulnerable population. Kawatsu, Ishikawa and Uchimura (2015) state that in order to enable
Japan to become a low TB incidence country, Japan should take the groups that are high risk but that
have low populations into consideration. These groups are the homeless and foreigners. The TB
incidence rates for these two groups are much lower than for low TB incidence countries, however
there is a slightly increasing trend for these groups (Tuberculosis

Analysis Of The Aleutian Island Campaign Of Wwii
During the Aleutian Island Campaign of WWII, the capture of Attu eliminated the Japanese Aleutian
occupation and enabled the United States to launch raids against the Japanese from the north. This
action took place from May 11th to May 30th 1943 and was the final battle of the campaign which
officially ended on August 15, 1943. This paper will set the stage for the battle, describe the actions
that took place and assess the significance of the battle. Information regarding the battle is taken

Combat Engineer Battalion, and the attachment of the 50th Combat Engineer Battalion.1 Nearly a
year before the battle took place, June 3rd, 1942, the Japanese seized Attu with only natives living
there. The Japanese reestablished a base on Attu on October 29, 1942 under the leadership of
Lieutenant Colonel Hiroshi Yanekawa.1 The Japanese set up strong defensive positions with
antiaircraft and numerous caches of arms, ammunition and food spread across different locations on
the island. U.S. forces did not have such advantage and had a difficult time with logistics due to the
unforgiving elements. The islands beaches consisted of muskeg which created very difficult
circumstances for U.S. vehicles that the engineers were crucial in resolving. Although the harsh
climate and terrain caused many problems for both sides, it was more impactful against the Japanese
due to the long period of acclimation they endured.2 The Japanese mission was to occupy Attu and
build an airstrip to stage air reconnaissance missions that would patrol the northern perimeter of
Japans territorial expansion and construct a base of operations.1 The U.S. Army s mission was to
conduct an amphibious assault of Attu and seize the island in order to launch raids against Japans

Examples Of Self Fulfilling Prophecy In Macbeth
Macbeth s Self fulfilling Prophecy Macbeth is a remarkable tragic play that was written by one of the
greatest English play writer, William Shakespeare. The story begins with The Weird Sisters who were
later encountered with Macbeth and Banquo, the main character of the play. Macbeth and Banquo are
the generals of Scotland, and when they finished the battle on their way back, the three witches gives
out the prophecy that leads Macbeth s inevitable tragedy. It was strongly believed that the Prophecies
came true because Macbeth had want and made them happen. Macbeth believes that his fate is to be
the King of Scotland. However, it cannot excuse that he betray his King, his killing of innocent people
like Macduff s families, and his greed and ambitious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Macbeth wasn t certain about the murdering plan, but he was swayed by Lady Macbeth to gain the

it were not for his overbearing desire from his internal temptations, Macbeth may have considered
other options and not murder Duncan; regardless, he freely continued to ponder and entertain the idea

Three Waves of Variation Study
1 Three Waves of Variation Study: The emergence of meaning in the study of variation Penelope
Eckert Stanford University Abstract The treatment of social meaning in variation has come in three
waves of analytic practice. The first wave of variation studies established broad correlations between
linguistic variables and the macro sociological categories of socioeconomic class, sex class, ethnicity
and age. The second wave employed ethnographic methods to explore the local categories and
configurations that inhabit, or constitute, these broader categories. In both waves, variation was seen
as marking social categories. This paper sets out a theoretical foundation for the third wave, arguing
that (1) variation constitutes a robust ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are some very big questions, such as how the system of social meaning is structured, what kinds
of social meanings are expressed in variation, how local meanings such as those found on Martha s
Vineyard articulate with broad demographic patterns, and how the relation between variants and social
meanings becomes conventionalized. In what follows, I will outline an approach to the study of
variation that centers on social meaning. This is not a proposal to replace, but to refine and
supplement, current approaches to variation. I will begin by tracing the progress of the social study of
variation over the past forty five years, in order to illuminate the main issues. The treatment of social
meaning in variation has come in three waves of analytic practice. No wave supersedes the previous,
but each represents a quite distinct way of thinking about variation, and a distinct methodological and
analytic practice, each of which grew out of the findings of the previous wave. The first wave of
variation studies, launched by William Labov s New York City study (Labov,1966), laid a solid
foundation for the study of variation by establishing broad correlations between linguistic variables
and the macro sociological categories of socioeconomic class, sex class, ethnicity and age. These
patterns pointed to questions

Network Management By Offering Software
Software Defined Networking (SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKS) can enormously simplify
network management by offering software engineers network wide visibility and direct control over
the fundamental changes from a legitimately unified controller. In any case, existing controller stages
offer a northbound API that powers software engineers to reason physically, in unstructured and ad
hoc routes, about low level conditions between various parts of their code. An application that
performs different tasks, for example routing, monitoring, access control, and server load adjusting
must guarantee that packet processing rules introduced to perform one undertaking do not supersede
the usefulness of another. This outcomes in solid applications where the rationale for various
undertakings is inflexibly interwoven, making the product difficult to compose, test, investigate, and
reuse. Modularity is the way to overseeing complexity in any programming framework and
SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKSs are no exemption. In the past research, it has handled an
imperative extraordinary case, where every application controls its own cut a disjoint bit of traffic over
which the occupant or application module has complete visibility and control. Notwithstanding traffic
disconnection such a stage may likewise support subdivision of network resources, for example link
data transfer capacity, rule table space and controller CPU and memory to keep one module from
influencing the execution of another, but

The Importance Of Technology In Modern Society
In our present world, we are faced with the double edged sword of having instantaneous access to all
information at our fingertips. However, it seems as though this easy access to information comes at the
cost of the morality of the community. This ethical degradation of modern society is permeated
through our overindulgence with technology, the manner in which we treat others, and mainstream
music.
A way in which the demoralization of society is shown through our overindulgence with technology.
Through the significant development of technology in this era, we have grown a high level of
dependence on our devices. This dependency on technology has greatly altered the way in which we
think and interact with one another. An example of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately, the reliance on technology only leads to the detachment of people from those around them
leaving everyone in isolation.
Furthermore, the manner in which people are treated is a crucial sign of the immorality of our current
world. People have begun to lose respect for each other, especially over the Internet. This disregard for
others stems from the anonymity on the Internet which gives people the liberty to say whatever cruel
thing is on their mind because of their shield that is their computer screen. The ability to hide behind
one s keyboard is such a major contributor to cyberbullying as people don t get to physically see the
impacts of their words. If a person says awful things to a stranger on the Internet, they will likely
never meet the person to know how their comment made them feel. Through the rise of social media,
the current generation has lost the empathy that would make them wary of what they do or say to
avoid inflicting pain on others. A situation that can come out of this lack of concern for others is one
like Amanda Todd, a young girl who committed suicide as a result of the hurtful things said to her by
her peers over social media. Occurrences like these should serve as reminders to us all that despite the
conversation happening between screens, there is a person, a human, with value and worth behind that
screen reading your message.

Montresor Capital Punishment
In the short story The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, Montresor murderers Fortunato by
leading him into the catacombs after getting him drunk one night. Montresor takes Fortunato down
into a small room, chains him up, then builds a wall where he suffocates. Although Montresor
murdered Fortunato, Montresor should not be sentenced to death. Capital punishment is the penalty of
being put to death after committing a crime. In this way, capital punishment can be incredibly cruel to
the criminal. In the article Capital Punishment in the United States by Robert W. Taylor, Professor of
Criminology and Public Affairs, adds, Many people oppose the death penalty because they believe it is
cruel. Just like others who commit crimes, Montresor would have to face death penalty. In the other
article, 5 Arguments For And Against The Death Penalty by FlameHorse, agrees that capital
punishment can be ineffective, painful, and slow which could make the death penalty crueler than the
actual crime committed. That can mean that if Montresor were sentenced to death then he could face a
much crueler death than he caused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

teach people not to kill people. So why should Montresor be killed just because he committed a crime,
if the purpose of the death penalty is to teach people not to commit crimes? Also in an article put

Comparing The Tolkien s The Hobbit
The contrast between different types of leadership appears in the chapter Flies and Spiders in J.R.R
Tolkien s The Hobbit. The chapter starts off with the group no longer having Gandalf lead them
through the perils that lie in the Mirkwood. Thorin helps lead the group past a deadly river that cannot
be touched and helps them until he is captured by elves. Bilbo battle spiders and saves the dwarves on
multiple occasions in Thorin s absence. In this chapter you see a new contrast in Throrin and
Company. No longer having Gandalf Thorin picked up the mantle of leadership and lead by command.
Bilbo then assumed the role of leadership in Thorins absence and lead by putting others first, putting
himself on the line. As the story progresses you have these two types of leadership contrasting
throughout the story. Ultimately in the end Bilbo s was of leadership proved to be better.
When entering the Mirkwood Gandalf left the group leaving Thorin to lead the group through the
woods. Thorin leads the group by command through Mirkwood usually delegating who should do
what in the group. As the group is trying to find their way across the river on pages 132 133 Thorin
takes command of the situation. Once the group had a solid plan Thorin delegates the order of travel

The Pros And Cons Of The Cuban Embargo
The new era began, Barack Obama and Raúl Castro announced that the United States of America and
Cuba will restore full diplomatic relations for the first time in more than 50 years since severing ties in
1961. Barston 2006, defines diplomatic relations as the art and practice of conducting negotiations
between representatives of states. It usually refers to international diplomacy, the conduct of
international relations through the intercession of professional diplomats with regard to issues of peace
making, trade, economics and culture (p. 1). One of the major areas it will address is the lifting of the
Cuban embargo. The embargo restricts trade, travel and communication between the two states which

According to Scola (2014) It is estimated that only 5 percent of the Cuban population has access to the
open Internet . All Internet connections in Cuba are available exclusively through Empresa de

general population, landline Internet is the sole means of connecting people in Cuba to the Internet.
The combination of inadequate infrastructure and the government s deliberate policy which controls
access to the internet have produced an extremely slow service that is not widely available throughout
the population. With better diplomatic relations with the United States the Cuban government can
benefit greatly from telecommunications mostly internet advancements which can positively affect the
economy in many ways. First, it can reduce the cost of production. Second, it can increase revenues.
Third, it can increase employment through both direct and indirect effects and lastly it provides
channels of communication to avert humanitarian disasters and assist in reconstruction efforts. The

The more students the counselor sees the more of them can get back to their everyday lives and living
happy and everyone will leave them alone. This could even result in less bullying in the halls and after

is in the graphic rating form which assesses individuals on several dimensions of performance. This is
like rating your job performance on a scale of one to ten. The boss may make a performance rating on
your job to tell the person how he or she is doing that week. The behavior focused rating scale can be
used to focus on ones behavior on the job. If a person has a good attitude then they may get a good
behavior score. If he or she has a bad attitude he or she may get a bad rating on the behavior score.
This depends on the way the person acts and behaves while doing his or her job. Other members of the
staff may also rate ones behavior on the job. This will help the boss determine if they are getting along
with you or if he or she is causing trouble or are not well liked among your fellow employees. They
may make observations on ones performance as well. If he or she is doing a good job a terrible job or
just a good enough jobs then he or she can be rated on that performance.

The rich Mexican ceramics legacy was acquainted with Mexico by Spanish organization craftsmen
and artists of the Colonial time frame. Usually called majolica in Spain, Mexican Talavera draws its
name from the sixteenth century Spanish ceramics focus, Talavera de la Reina. While the multifaceted
polychrome and more run of the mill blue and white outlines demonstrate their Old World inheritance,
local flower and creature themes assert these vivid earthenware productions as traditionally Mexican.

The most prominent and famous pottery made in Mexico is Talavera pottery. Talavera is a high quality
decorative earthenware pottery style that is recognized by its strong colors and detailed patterns
creating traditional Mexican and more contemporary designs. The cultural trait of using bold mixtures
of vivid colours in art and fabrics was also prevalent in the rich variety of colours used in traditional
Mexican pottery decoration. Mexican pottery was made by coiling the clay into consecutive circles up
the sides, followed by scraping and molding the coiled work until the coils could no longer be
detected. The Mexican wares were not glazed, but rather burnished and painted with coloured fine
clay slips. The Spanish introduced the potters wheel and new glazing techniques, including Majolica.
The colorful Majolica suited the Mexican aesthetic and the Talavera pottery is renowned for its variety
of Majolica and its mixture of different cultural influences. There was also a predominance of curved
lines and intricate detail. This mixture of styles was adopted by the local folk art pottery scene with
most potters working in family workshops, and everyone participating in the process. Talavera is a
particular method of pottery which involves two firings first with a tin glaze and then lead (see further
information). The brightly painted designs are applied between the two firings. Talavera is named after
a town in Spain. This clay is then kneaded and the pieces are shaped on a potter s wheel or in a mold
and left to dry. The pieces are fired at 850°C and become hard and terracotta coloured. More colour is
applied in traditional designs. The design is transferred to the ceramic using carbon on a paper stencil.
The resulting dot pattern is then used as a guide for the hand painted bright colours. The decorated
piece is fired again to produce

Irony In In The Sun And The Open Window
In the two stories, In the Sun and The Open Window , irony and paradox are used quite often. The
stories are both about truth, lies, and honesty but the authors don t just come right out and say that to
you. They allow you to think on the ironies and paradoxes and come up with the deeper meaning on
your own.
In In the Sun irony is used in large amounts. When Sekhar goes with the headmaster to listen to his
music people may think that his truth streak is over but instead Sekhar tells the headmaster exactly
how he feels. He says that the headmasters music is not good and that he needs to quit taking lessons
but the headmaster isn t even upset! This is a paradox because although it is ironic that the headmaster
not be upset, the author is trying to guide you to the deeper meaning that even though it might not be
easy at first, telling the truth is always better than lying to people to protect their feelings. ... Show

Dance Marathon
Last One Standing Various painters use their works of art as a representation of feelings. They include
symbols, figures, and expression to reveal their emotions through the form of art. Philip Evergood s
painting Dance Marathon illustrates the desperate times surrounding the Great Depression. In the
scene, dancers compete for a cash prize as they see who can dance the longest. He portrays the cruelty
of the time through this vulgar setting. The painting easily captures the viewer s attention mostly from
the use of color, figure, spatial effects, and other techniques created by the artist. The size of Dance

Red appears to dominate the painting and serves as an eye catching color. The use of intensely
saturated colors draws the attention to the front couple. Additionally, the red color plays with the mind
of the onlooker without them thinking about it. It suggests deep passion, anger, and struggle. The artist
intends to relay his feelings about the event to the viewer. His outlook consists of disgust towards the
great depression that leaves many taken advantage of due to desperation.
The couple positioned in the front appears very large to make the painting 3 D. The relative size of the
dancers drastically shifts to create a window into the painting. The viewer can imagine being a part of
the event and watching the poverty stricken dancers. The angle that the painting is at appears to be
almost a bird s eye view. This adds to the effect of feeling as part of the audience. Spatial features are
also added with overlap making figures look even more distant. Almost everything can be seen all the
way to the back of the painting as the lighting in Dance Marathon spreads equally throughout the
painting. Many lamps hang from the ceiling to give it a sense of many sources of light and to
distribute the light evenly.

lasts longer than normal and requires great endurance. The audience recognizes that the people

Over-dependence on Technology Essay
Regina Fleck has an iPhone 7 and she admits, I no longer feel frustrated or impatient. That emotion
now manifests in me as a desire to check my e mail. (Tran). All around the world, technology has
taken over the lives of many, especially children. Each year younger children are being introduced to
new technology to help them learn and grow, but the effects of this may be different from what is
expected. Rather than seeing growth, the overuse of technology is leading to many issues, including a
decline in creativity, less active lifestyles, and difficulty falling asleep. The growing overdependence

Also, the parents are the ones who are buying the games and the food that the children eat, so it can t
be blamed on the children. Others believe that the ads and commercials are nearly irresistible to
children, and parents are just trying to keep their children happy. Whatever the case, the major cause
of it is the technology (Browning).
Another source of the overdependence of technology in children is school. At school, they are
introduced to technology at a very young age, sometimes even in preschool. Children are introduced
to calculators at a very young age, helping them with math problems they should be able to do in their
heads. The teachers are encouraging it so the students don t take the time to learn how to do it out and
then struggle when they have no calculator. Also, children today are proven to have much worse
handwriting than in the past. They are now expected to type English essays and in elementary school;
many aren t taught cursive but rather how to use computers. For example, in 2009, 97 percent of
teachers had at least one computer in their room, and out of that, 93 percent of the computers were
connected to the Internet (Gray, Thomas, Lewis). Intelligence is continuously decreasing due to all of

The Effects Of Physical Abuse On Children
A general definition of physical abuse is a non accidental injury of a child inflicted by a caregiver.
Children who are abused can experience injuries ranging from bruises, fractures and broken bones,
and in some cases, even death. There s an estimated three million children are abused or neglected
every day in the United States (Unger Luca, 2014). Children are more likely to be physically abused if
their parents are single, young parents, living in poverty, parents were also abused as children, families
have alcohol or drug abuse problems, and there is domestic violence happening at home (Lazenbatt
Freeman, 2006). Many children who experience physical abuse experience emotional abuse and
neglect as well.
The short term impact of childhood abuse are cognitive and intellectual deficits, deficits in social
skills, PTSD and other mental disorders, anxiety, suicidal behavior, heightened aggression, and risk
taking behavior. Long term impacts include difficulty with trust, low self esteem, anxiety, anger,
internalized aggression, depression, interpersonal difficulties, and substance abuse (Keene Epps,
2016). These individuals also struggle with identifying and regulating their emotions. It is very
common for victims of childhood physical abuse to feel shame and to experience it more often than
people who did not experience abuse (Keene Epps). A study by Keene and Epps (2016) found
individuals who experienced childhood physical abuse are more likely to report

Krugman s The Death Of Horatio Alger
Everyone s happiness is different, however in America, each person s difficulty to accomplish it varies
as well. Since its creation, the United States promised to be the land of equal opportunity and granted
the people their basic human rights. The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness cannot be
taken away from anyone in America. However, pursuit of happiness is one thing, achieving it, is
another. For many, the American Dream is something that must require many sacrifices, and maybe it
will become achievable. For few, they were born in the American Dream, if they choose to grow on it,
it would require little effort. Today, success has a sort of favoritism when it comes to what class a
citizen may be. Success favors those with a wealthy background, because of the whispered caste
system of America.
In Krugman s The Death of Horatio Alger , the author validates the suspicion of the U.S becoming a
caste system. Krugman stated that America looks more and more like a class ridden society, he based
his response off the social and financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Economic inequality has been steadily growing over the past decades. According to this article, In
more recent years, accumulation of wealth by economic elites has received greater attention. Not only
are the rich becoming richer, but the disparities are growing the fastest at the top. In the United States,
for example, growth in wealth has occurred mainly at the very top of the scale. (Hansen 457). This
means that wealth begins to expand and business owners earn more, however pay more but not a lot
more then previously. This would be a good thing, but not everyone in America is a business owner. In
fact, the majority of citizens slightly benefited from the growing economy. While most view the
economy as unequal, the upper class and even U.S representatives consider it fair and justified (Kraus

An Analysis of the Choice Between Separated and Mixed...
An analysis of the choice between separated and mixed operation model for ICBC( London) Abstract:
Since the fifth wave of Merge and Acquisition in the 1990s, the global banking industries have
developed towards the direction of large scale, international and omnipotent banks. The mixed
operation of the commercial banks had already been the leading trend in the 21st century. With China
s entrance into WTO at the end of last century, the Chinese financial institutions, especially the
Chinese bank industries, are destined to participate in the global economy and to face the keen
competition from the financial conglomerate of the western developed countries. The commercial
banks still operate separately at present according to the law. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The competition among commercial banks increased. Especially, after joining WTO, Chinese state
owned commercial banks face more direct threat from foreign competition. However, China s
Commercial Bank Law clearly provides the current business model of commercial banks is separate
operation, separate supervision (Qu and Sun, 2006). Also as the renovation of technology and the
continuous development of the world s financial markets, the various financial derivatives have been
promoted. Meanwhile, the integration between different financial sectors gradually strengthened. The
original separated operation and supervision mechanism hinder the innovation of financial system and
enhancement of service efficiency. ICBC (London) is facing the level of competition in the financial
sector will become more intense, which requires the development under the British FSA s supervision.
It must keep the pace of the international financial banks. That means the mixed operation will be the
future development direction. To reach this argument, this paper will be based on the primary and
secondary data of operation performance of HSBC and ICBC operated in UK, and analyze the result
of comparison to conduct the appropriate choice of operation model for ICBC operating

Child Safety Is The Number One Concern
You would be amazed at the amount of regulations that go into an automobile, but even more
surprising would be the amount of regulations that the seat you sit in must pass to make sure that the
driver and passengers are safe and comfortable. Out of all the pieces in the interior of your car, the
seats have the most regulations. This is really not so surprising if you think of the amount of time and
money that car companies spend on making people safe. Whether it be adults or children, safety is the
number one concern. And since child safety has been at the forefront of the manufacturers focus as
well as a few news stories every week we will concern ourselves with one specific regulation that is
essential: The Child Restraint Anchorage System. The specific standard for this system is FMVSS
225, and can be found at the NHTSA website or with a Google search on the web. The specific
regulation is as follows: 571.225 Standard No. 225; Child restraint anchorage systems. S1. Purpose
and scope. This standard establishes requirements for child restraint anchorage systems to ensure their
proper location and strength for the effective securing of child restraints, to reduce the likelihood of
the anchorage systems failure, and to increase the likelihood that child restraints are properly secured
and thus more fully achieve their potential effectiveness in motor vehicles. For this discussion, we will
be focusing on the anchors in the rear of the car, not the wires that are

Navy Boy], Anthem for Doomed Youth and Dulce et Decorum Est. Wilfred Owen was a poet who was
widely regarded as one of the best poets of the World War one period. Wilfred Owen was born on the
18th of March 1893, at Plas Wilmot, Oswestry, on the English Welsh border; he was the son of Tom
and Susan Owen. During the winter of 1897 8 Tom Owen, Wilfred s father was reappointed to
Birkenhead, and with that the whole family moved there. Wilfred started school at the Birkenhead

In July Siegfried Sassoon arrived at Craiglockhart, which was a hospital for Generals who had become
mentally un stable or ill, due to the war. Sassoon met Owen here and they developed a friendship,
which greatly influenced Owens writing as Sassoon, revised many of his poems. On the 13th of
October Wilfred Owen was introduced to Robert Graves. 15 days later Owen was due to appear before
the medical board to determine how much longer he would be unfit for military service. After three
weeks he was requested to return to the unit, Platoon Three. Before being returned to the front line in
France, Owen also met Arnold Bennett and H.G. Wells in London at an organised event. All the time
Owen was gaining knowledge and inspiration from these writers, which helped him develop his
immense talent as a poet. One month before Christmas, Owen was returned to the Manchester s 5th
for light duties and ten days later he was promoted to Lieutenant. With a new year, 1918 came more
meetings and more fighting for the country. On the 16th of May Wilfred Owen became acquainted
with Osbert Sitwell. Another inspirational meeting for him. On the fourth of June Owen was declared
fit for general service and in late August he returned to base camp at Staples, France. A key military
date for Owen was the 29th September to the 3rd October of that year when Owen instigated an

Impact Of The Romani Communities And Mainstream Slovak...
The continued disparity between the Romani communities and mainstream Slovak society has been
further highlighted recently by their children now being forced to attend ethnically segregated
mainstream schools and classes. The continued investment in so called container schools can
drastically hinder the Romani children s ability to advance to a higher education. It can also become a
hurdle preventing this community to gain sufficient employment to survive and therefore be a full
contributor to the country they call home. By looking at the Republic of Slovakia under the following
headings; political, military, economic, social, infrastructure, information, physical environment and
time (PMESII PT), gaps can be seen that continue to allow for human rights issues like that with the
Roma today to be in the forefront.
TIME
The history of the Slovak nation began in the eleventh century when it was ruled by Hungary. The
Slovaks ancestors were identified as inhabitants of Upper Hungary (more simply known as The
Highlands ). By the nineteenth century, despite the drive by the Hungarian rulers to Magyarize the
multiethnic population of their kingdom, the Slovaks had created a mythologized identity, linking
themselves with the ninth century Slavic kingdom of Great Moravia. In 1918, at the end of World War
I, Slovakia materialized as its own geopolitical unit, not on its own however, but within the new
country of Czechoslovakia. In 1993, for the third time in the twentieth

Killing Joke Alan Moore Analysis
With this page of the Killing Joke Alan Moore and Brian Boland use panel composition to increase the
drama with each individual panel. Within the first three panels of the page the reader gets three
different camera shots. The second panel in which the reader gets a shot of the Joker reentering the
bar/restaurant, the shadow of his hat hiding his eyes making it difficult to read his emotions. The next
panel is completely different style, black and white, it makes it so the reader s focus is entirely on the
words being spoken, the lack of sympathy the men have on the Joker, similar to the lack of sympathy
the joker has on all of his victims. In the next four panels the focus is on the Joker and how he is being
treated poorly after the death of his pregnant wife. We see this mainly in the fifth panel where the shot
comes from behind the Joker allowing the reader only see the two men s threatening faces, then later
in the seventh panel where the Joker is alone and in a position that can be interpreted as him being

The reader gets to see the Joker s reaction to being threatened and his timidity in the fourth and fifth
panels and soon after we see the shock of it, the realization that he is unable to get out of the situation

have passed between the panels the reader gets a completely different shot from one panel to the next.
The Joker changing from a shocked expression to one of conflict and melancholy, depicted by the
ducked head and trembling hands. The mockery of it is added, as previously stated, with the taunting
way the two figures in the background look down at the Joker, one with the signature Joker smile and

Man the Hunter Revisited
Man the Hunter: Revisited In 1966, a group of about fifty anthropologists met in Chicago for a
conference that would later known as the Man the Hunter meeting. The meeting contrasted with
earlier scholarship and presented a Hollywood approach to the topic of early man, one where our
ancestors were strong, powerful, and in control of their environment. Anthropologists Sherwood L.
Washburn and C.S. Lancaster (1968), both present at the conference claimed, our intellect, interests,
emotions, and basic social life all are evolutionary products of the success of the hunting adaptation .

subsistence strategies and the role of the hunter in human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the sexual division of labor was given more attention and there was recognition of the
importance of the female contribution given to sustaining early modern human society. As a result of
the research, the gatherer female emerged and in many ways surpassed the male hunter as the
foundation of early modern human society. The female gatherer trumped the male hunter. Ultimately,
the work of the feminist anthropologists was significant because it discredited the male centric theory
of the 1960 s, emasculated the role of man, but provided a more balanced and accurate perspective
regarding the role of women in early human society. Progressing into the modern era, research has
again refocused the academic microscope on the once chastised man the hunter theory. Contrasting
with earlier scholarship, Michael P. Richards and Erik Trinkhaus (2009) proved Neanderthals and
early modern humans relied on meat and hunting for subsistence. They did so through comparative
isotopic analysis of nitrogen and carbon isotope values to compare protein consumption between early
modern humans, Neanderthals, and local fauna. For example, the Oase 1 (the oldest directly dated
modern human in Europe) has a nitrogen level that is 10.8% higher than the ibex and 8.0% higher than
the red deer.

Multiculturalism has played a significant role in Canada, since its establishment 40 years ago. Much
of Canadian society is reflective of different cultures from around the world making multiculturalism a
very relevant topic to Canadians. While it can be argued that the majority of Canadians are in favor of
multiculturalism, there are some who hold a different opinion. Though some critics claim that
multiculturalism promotes a form of hyphenated Canadianism that exacerbates divisions in Canadian
society based on such characteristics like ethnic, minority, or immigrant status, the social advantages

Minority groups have served multiple different business sectors helping overall benefit our economy.
The paragraph will also divulge into the political benefits both multiculturalism and immigrants
provide to Canada. Canada sees high rates of political participation from foreign born citizens due to
the country s multiculturalist nature. Economically, Canada is fortunate to have a high number of
immigrants in its territory. Finally, the paper will conclude with the explanation of alternatives to
multiculturalism. These alternatives are typically considered negative which will further illustrate why
immigrants and a multicultural society is important to Canada. Multiculturalism is a crucial aspect to
Canada in which it diminishes the divisions in Canadian society based on one s race, religion, and
culture. Social advantages of multiculturalism in Canada prove to be very beneficial to Canadian
society. When discussing multiculturalism in regards to its use and policies in Canada, it is important
to first, give its definition as well as explain its history. Multiculturalism relates to or is made up of
several different cultures and is typically used to as an adjective to describe a society (Merriam
Webster). Multiculturalism is not just a fixed concept or a simple idea; it is a multidimensional entity
(Guo + Wong, 107). Multiculturalism can be seen as a catch all term, which encompasses the fusion or

person to a generous and friendly man. This is brought about by haunting visions at Christmas that

with urgent prospects if he should not change his ways ( Dickens ). He had no further intercourse with
Spirits, but lived upon the Total Abstinence Principle, ever afterwards; and it was always said of him,
that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be

Lizzie Borden Essay examples
It is best described by the closing arguments for Lizzie Borden s defense, made by her attorney,
George D. Robinson:
The Lizzie Borden case has mystified and fascinated those interested in crime forover on hundred
years. Very few cases in American history have attracted as much attention as the hatchet murders of
Andrew J. Borden and his wife, Abby Borden. The bloodiness of the acts in an otherwise respectable
late nineteenth century domestic setting is startling. Along with the gruesome nature of the crimes is
the unexpected character of the accused, not a hatchet wielding maniac, but a church going, Sunday

Biotechnology is the manipulation of microorganisms, through DNA manipulation and bioprocess

is agricultural biotechnology? Agricultural biotechnology, or agritech, is a combination of tools to

Happiness In The Movie Pursuit Of Happiness
Believing in self or self trust could save someone s life and lead life into the right direction toward
success. It did in Pursuit of Happyness where Mr. Gardner was losing control over his life until he
trusted himself. Then his life started to turn around and when he believed in himself, everyone else
believed in him and he succeed. Losing something of value can cause pain but when self trust is lost,
there is not much to do when you don t have self trust. When self trust is present, believing and
achieving soon follow leading to success in life. When America wrote the Declaration of
Independence, one of the most important, and well known lines was Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness . Something that is interesting to look into is why Thomas Jefferson put pursuit of happiness
instead of just happiness . The pursuit of happiness is about the journey, the good and the bad. Getting
through the hard times knowing there s light at the end of the tunnel. If happiness is always present,
there is no pursuit then happiness is suddenly taken away, and the person doesn t know how to pursuit
it again due to no pursuit at the beginning of happiness. The actual pursuit to happiness is more
important than the happiness itself due to the fact that happiness can be taken away at anytime but the
pursuit to get back will always be there. This is shown through the movie Pursuit of Happyness and
how self trust is so important in someone s life. In the movie, Mr. Gardner loses his wife, his
apartment, and almost loses his kid. He couldn t catch a break, everything that could go wrong went
wrong did. What he didn t lose what his self trust; that he could provide for little boy, be the father
figure his kid needs, and still be on the pursuit of happiness when it seemed like happiness was a
million miles away. The job he was applying for was a stockbroker and it was him and 20 other smart
people fighting for it. Nobody thought he could do it, not even his own wife who left him shortly after.
One example of self trust in the movie is when Mr. Gardner and his son Christopher are playing
basketball and talking then Mr. Gardner said You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can t do
somethin

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Save Bees Save the Bees The presence of a bee generally scares people. So they swat at it, which makes the bee angry and defensive, which causes the bee to sting. Once the bee stings someone, it dies. Most people might think their death is a good thing. Unfortunately, various species of bees have been added to the endangered species list (Kennedy). Bees pollinate about 70% of the crops used by 90% of the world (What Would Happen) and as of February 2017, 10 million bees have died since 2010 ( Bennett). Bees need to be saved to ensure the Earth s survival, along with our own. There are many things believed to be the cause of bee endangerment. Of the survey conducted, 18% believe the cause is from chemicals used on plants such as pesticides; 25% believe it is because people do not like bees and kill them; 13% believe it is from habitat destruction; 25 % believe it is from natural causes. Overall, the general population is correct with regard to why bees have become endangered. Lauren Bennett says the main cause of the rapid decline in bee populations is from natural causes such as global warming and colony collapse disorder, which is when bees abandon their hive and causes the hive to die as well. Marla Spivak, says it is from parasites. Henry Samuel says it is from neonicotinoids, which is a pesticide that is similar to nicotine. The effects of their endangerment, and possible extinction, could potentially lead to our populations decreasing at alarming rates. The Earth would lose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Sandwich Generation Essay Amy Tan begins by announcing, I am not a scholar of English...I cannot give you much more than personal opinions on the English language and its variations in this country and others. How does this opening set up your expectations for the rest of the essay? Why do you think she chose to begin by denying her own authority? The introduction Tan decided to use presents the reader with a strong sense of the kind of individual she is. By saying I am not a scholar of English , Tan is revealing how humble she is. Amy Tan has written many novels and essays (some of which have been nationally recognized). Yet, she starts off her essay by stating that this is just a product of her opinion and that it is in no way superior to any others opinion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a writer, this exposure to all of these Englishes has affected her greatly. She no longer focuses on writing to the readers who can understand English perfectly. Tan s understanding of the multifaceted Englishes present in our nation allow her to get her message across to a larger audience. How does writing for a literary audience affect the language Tan primarily uses in the essay? What kind of English do you think she believes her audience speaks? Why? Support your answer with quotations from the text. Tan is aware that the literary audience will have a higher expectation of her writing. Therefore, she does not write in the manner in which her mother would speak ( broken English ). However, throughout her essay, any reader, whether an English scholar or student would easily be able to understand what Tan is trying to convey through her writing. In her essay Tan states: Fortunately, for reasons I won t get into today, I later decided I should envision a reader for the stories I would write. And the reader I decided upon was my mother. The Causes Of The BCG Interventions Factors behind the second paradox The biggest difference between Japan and the low TB incidence countries for the interventions for children is to use the BCG vaccination as a routine (Ministry of Health Labour and Welfare, 2016). BCG is the only vaccination against TB (British Medical Association , 2013). It stands for Bacilli Calmette Guerin which is named after two French researchers who developed this vaccine. The first administration was in Paris in 1921 and then BCG was accepted in Europe (Daniel, 2006; Frith, 2014). Japan has a good healthcare system (OECD, 2015), and it was estimated that universal health coverage and social protection was about 87%, which is one of the highest proportions in the world, in 2015 (WHO, 2017). Moreover, the rate of MDR TB patients was 0.5%, and Japan is the fifth largest donor to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Kunii , 2017). In light of these facts, the Japanese situation seems to be different from what is occurring globally. With regards to public health, an important framework for considering the sustainability and resilience of possible implementations is economy, society and environment (Martin, 2015, p. 81). Hence, applying this framework to Japan, the society facet is its sizeable elderly population and the environmental facet involves both patient and doctor delay. The key factor in terms of the economic aspect is Japan s socially vulnerable population. Kawatsu, Ishikawa and Uchimura (2015) state that in order to enable Japan to become a low TB incidence country, Japan should take the groups that are high risk but that have low populations into consideration. These groups are the homeless and foreigners. The TB incidence rates for these two groups are much lower than for low TB incidence countries, however there is a slightly increasing trend for these groups (Tuberculosis ... Analysis Of The Aleutian Island Campaign Of Wwii During the Aleutian Island Campaign of WWII, the capture of Attu eliminated the Japanese Aleutian occupation and enabled the United States to launch raids against the Japanese from the north. This action took place from May 11th to May 30th 1943 and was the final battle of the campaign which officially ended on August 15, 1943. Brown led the Army s 7th Division of three regiments of infantry, four battalions of artillery, the 13th Combat Engineer Battalion, and the attachment of the 50th Combat Engineer Battalion.1 Nearly a year before the battle took place, June 3rd, 1942, the Japanese seized Attu with only natives living there. The Japanese reestablished a base on Attu on October 29, 1942 under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Hiroshi Yanekawa.1 The Japanese set up strong defensive positions with antiaircraft and numerous caches of arms, ammunition and food spread across different locations on the island. U.S. forces did not have such advantage and had a difficult time with logistics due to the unforgiving elements. The islands beaches consisted of muskeg which created very difficult circumstances for U.S. vehicles that the engineers were crucial in resolving. Although the harsh climate and terrain caused many problems for both sides, it was more impactful against the Japanese due to the long period of acclimation they endured.2 The Japanese mission was to occupy Attu and build an airstrip to stage air reconnaissance missions that would patrol the northern perimeter of Japans territorial expansion and construct a base of operations.1 The U.S. Army s mission was to conduct an amphibious assault of Attu and seize the island in order to launch raids against Japans northern perimeter.1 The Japanese had observed the American naval convoy coming and were prepared for an ... Examples Of Self Fulfilling Prophecy In Macbeth Macbeth s Self fulfilling Prophecy Macbeth is a remarkable tragic play that was written by one of the greatest English play writer, William Shakespeare. Macbeth and Banquo are the generals of Scotland, and when they finished the battle on their way back, the three witches gives out the prophecy that leads Macbeth s inevitable tragedy. Macbeth wasn t certain about the murdering plan, but he was swayed by Lady Macbeth to gain the throne. At the end of Act three, Macbeth became the King of the Scotland as the Witches predicted. • 8. Three Waves of Variation Study 1 Three Waves of Variation Study: The emergence of meaning in the study of variation Penelope Eckert Stanford University Abstract The treatment of social meaning in variation has come in three waves of analytic practice. The first wave of variation studies established broad correlations between linguistic variables and the macro sociological categories of socioeconomic class, sex class, ethnicity and age. The second wave employed ethnographic methods to explore the local categories and configurations that inhabit, or constitute, these broader categories. In both waves, variation was seen as marking social categories. This paper sets out a theoretical foundation for the third wave, arguing that (1) variation constitutes a robust ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are some very big questions, such as how the system of social meaning is structured, what kinds of social meanings are expressed in variation, how local meanings such as those found on Martha s Vineyard articulate with broad demographic patterns, and how the relation between variants and social meanings becomes conventionalized. In what follows, I will outline an approach to the study of variation that centers on social meaning. This is not a proposal to replace, but to refine and supplement, current approaches to variation. I will begin by tracing the progress of the social study of variation over the past forty five years, in order to illuminate the main issues. The treatment of social meaning in variation has come in three waves of analytic practice. No wave supersedes the previous, but each represents a quite distinct way of thinking about variation, and a distinct methodological and analytic practice, each of which grew out of the findings of the previous wave. The first wave of variation studies, launched by William Labov s New York City study (Labov,1966), laid a solid foundation for the study of variation by establishing broad correlations between linguistic variables and the macro sociological categories of socioeconomic class, sex class, ethnicity and age. These patterns pointed to questions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Network Management By Offering Software Software Defined Networking (SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKS) can enormously simplify network management by offering software engineers network wide visibility and direct control over the fundamental changes from a legitimately unified controller. In any case, existing controller stages offer a northbound API that powers software engineers to reason physically, in unstructured and ad hoc routes, about low level conditions between various parts of their code. An application that performs different tasks, for example routing, monitoring, access control, and server load adjusting must guarantee that packet processing rules introduced to perform one undertaking do not supersede the usefulness of another. This outcomes in solid applications where the rationale for various undertakings is inflexibly interwoven, making the product difficult to compose, test, investigate, and reuse. Modularity is the way to overseeing complexity in any programming framework and SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKSs are no exemption. In the past research, it has handled an imperative extraordinary case, where every application controls its own cut a disjoint bit of traffic over which the occupant or application module has complete visibility and control. Notwithstanding traffic disconnection such a stage may likewise support subdivision of network resources, for example link data transfer capacity, rule table space and controller CPU and memory to keep one module from influencing the execution of another, but ... However, it seems as though this easy access to information comes at the cost of the morality of the community. This ethical degradation of modern society is permeated through our overindulgence with technology, the manner in which we treat others, and mainstream music. A way in which the demoralization of society is shown through our overindulgence with technology. Ultimately, the reliance on technology only leads to the detachment of people from those around them leaving everyone in isolation. Furthermore, the manner in which people are treated is a crucial sign of the immorality of our current world. People have begun to lose respect for each other, especially over the Internet. This disregard for others stems from the anonymity on the Internet which gives people the liberty to say whatever cruel thing is on their mind because of their shield that is their computer screen. The ability to hide behind one s keyboard is such a major contributor to cyberbullying as people don t get to physically see the impacts of their words. If a person says awful things to a stranger on the Internet, they will likely never meet the person to know how their comment made them feel. Through the rise of social media, the current generation has lost the empathy that would make them wary of what they do or say to avoid inflicting pain on others. A situation that can come out of this lack of concern for others is one like Amanda Todd, a young girl who committed suicide as a result of the hurtful things said to her by her peers over social media. Occurrences like these should serve as reminders to us all that despite the conversation happening between screens, there is a person, a human, with value and worth behind that screen reading your message. • 12. Montresor Capital Punishment In the short story The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, Montresor murderers Fortunato by leading him into the catacombs after getting him drunk one night. Montresor takes Fortunato down into a small room, chains him up, then builds a wall where he suffocates. Although Montresor murdered Fortunato, Montresor should not be sentenced to death. Capital punishment is the penalty of being put to death after committing a crime. In this way, capital punishment can be incredibly cruel to the criminal. In the article Capital Punishment in the United States by Robert W. Taylor, Professor of Criminology and Public Affairs, adds, Many people oppose the death penalty because they believe it is cruel. Just like others who commit crimes, Montresor would have to face death penalty. In the other article, 5 Arguments For And Against The Death Penalty by FlameHorse, agrees that capital punishment can be ineffective, painful, and slow which could make the death penalty crueler than the actual crime committed. Dr. FlameHorse, from the second article, also argues, It is strange that a nation would denounce the practice of murder by committing the very same act. Mexican pottery was made by coiling the clay into consecutive circles up the sides, followed by scraping and molding the coiled work until the coils could no longer be detected. The Mexican wares were not glazed, but rather burnished and painted with coloured fine clay slips. The Spanish introduced the potters wheel and new glazing techniques, including Majolica. • 32. Happiness In The Movie Pursuit Of Happiness Believing in self or self trust could save someone s life and lead life into the right direction toward success. It did in Pursuit of Happyness where Mr. Gardner was losing control over his life until he trusted himself.
