Howard Zinn Chapter One Essay
Columbus has always been portrayed as an enlightened, peaceful explorer who discovered a new
world, and became friends with the native people. Howard Zinn s view on Columbus s encounter with
the natives is an entirely different perspective. Zinn describes Columbus as a man who is willing to
torture and kill others to be able to accomplish what he wants; in this case he wanted to obtain gold
and other resources to take back with him to Spain. When Columbus and his men arrived to the
islands, he noticed that the natives were generous, and accommodating because they willingly traded
everything they owned and brought them such things like: food, water, and gifts. Since the beginning
the natives offered all of their hospitality to Columbus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He became desperate to pay the dues back to the king and queen, so he order every native older than
fourteen to collect a certain quantity of gold by three months. Once they had collected the amount,
they would receive a copper to put around their neck, those without it had their hands cut off and bled
to death. Many felt it was impossible to do this, and tried escaping but were always found and killed.
When it was finally clear that there was no gold left, they took them all as slave labor to huge estates
which are called encomiendas. Columbus s big plan for Hispaniola since the beginning was to take
advantage of the natives and take their land, and the gold he believed was located there. He built the
first fort in the Western Hemisphere, and left some of his men to find and store gold there. Columbus
had to ask for a little more help from their majesties, he convinced them by saying he would take them
as much gold as they need ... and as many slaves as they ask (Zinn,6 ) Columbus s plans affected the
natives, in many ways; first of all they were going to lose their land, and also they were going to be
taken captive for slave labor.
Howard Zinn not only introduced a new perspective on Christopher Columbus, but he changed the
way I viewed things. I never knew how much killings, and torture was put upon the natives in the
searching of the New World . I learned how the hero I thought Columbus was, in reality was more like
a villain. He didn t

U.s. Army s 516th Signal Brigade
Introduction With each passing year, current technologies continue to evolve or change while new
technology or innovations emerge that, in some instances, profoundly change markets, societies, or
ways of living. For all organizations, to include the military, the persistent change of technology
means that organizations must also evolve and change accordingly. Based on research by Accenture s
Paul Nunes and Tim Breene in 2011, only 7 percent of companies that cease to grow ever survive over
the long term, which serves as a strong warning for any organization about the need to change. In
addition to technological change, the military faces many other challenges as well. The most
significant challenges include budgetary constraints, mandated drawdowns in personnel strength, and
numerous mission demands across the globe. This is the greater context facing the U.S. Army s 516th
Signal Brigade based in Hawaii. The 516th Signal Brigade consists of 2,500 soldiers and federal
employees responsible for the installation, operation, and defense of tactical and strategic information
technology (IT) networks for the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater (from Japan to Alaska). Every day
the 516th Signal Brigade must defend against cyber attacks, provide IT service support to many
thousands of users, and remain prepared to deploy quickly its mobile communications teams in the
event of conflict or a natural disaster. However, during my tenure within the brigade from 2013 2015,

The Registered Dietitian Career
Before FNU 206 Introduction to Nutrition and Dietetics, I only had an idea of what I wanted to do as a
Registered Dietitian, but not exactly how to reach that goal. After taking this class, Dr. Adkins has
given me direction as to how to find my first destination. The Registered Dietitian career is not like
being a doctor; there is no specific practice to study in school and stay as that type of specially trained
practice. There are certain practices and patients to attend to as a Registered Dietitian, however my
first job can be in a clinical setting with cancer patients as supposed to a company focused on wellness
of the body. The same situation applies before becoming certified when I must put those hours of
experience in. This intrigued

School Coins
Recently, I discovered a new way to make a few cents per day. It doesn t involve a savings account, or
some form of investment such as a 401k. Instead, all it takes is an hour long stroll throughout the
school campus I work at, and a quick jaunt to a gas station near the campus while I keep my eyes cast
to the ground in order to spot bright, shiny objects. This new money collecting device is just that: a
means of literally collecting money from the ground. And, there s plenty to be found, if you know
where to look. Most often, I find pennies. Sometimes, I ll only find one. Other times, I will hit a
jackpot. What is certain is that there s something there every time I take my walk. And surprisingly,
one can make a small fortune. To date, I found about five dollars worth of coins. It may not sound
much, but consider this: at home I have a change jar where I place all the coins I acquired after
making a purchase. Once this jar fills up I go to my bank and convert those coins into a check and
deposit into my savings. Often, it takes me a year to collect over $100 worth of coins. The coins I
collect off the campus and street speed up that process. It s possible now to turn the coins in within six
months. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

12 Year a Slave Essay
Twelve Years A Slave Essay During a time of cruel punishment and harsh conditions of life as a slave
in the 19th century South, there was a book that shed a light on the life of a slave unparalleled in past
as well as in modern literature. That book was entitled Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup.
Northup was born a freeman that was obtained from his father after being freed by the Northup family
due to loyal service. Growing up in the free state of New York, Solomon was allowed an education
that was rare because of the sad disposition of the majority of his race. Solomon gained much
knowledge of industry and hard work from his father. As a free man of color, he enjoyed various jobs
and hobbies from timber raft building to playing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Northup and others were to be shipped to New Orleans. New Orleans had the biggest slave market in
the South. It was a place no slave ever wanted to encounter. Before arriving in New Orleans, they
made frequent stops at other slave pens to resupply goods and acquire more slaves. Escape always
came to mind while on the ship but never came to fruition, as opportunity was lost. Arriving in New
Orleans Northup was given the name Platt and placed in another slave pen similar to that in
Washington. While in the pen they were to be kept in a presentable manner, washed, shaved and
dressed in a cheap suit everyday. Slaves were instructed in moving to their spots and looking smart .
Each slave was to stand in their spot while potential buyers viewed and analyzed them thoroughly.
Northup became well known for his violin skills, so much so that Freeman was able to exploit such
skills in pricing. However, after being exposed to small pox earlier from another slave, Northup got
deathly ill and was rushed to the hospital, decreasing his value. Though still weak, he returned to the
slave pen where he was sold to Mr. William Ford. Many different masters owned Northup, but two to
be discussed are William Ford and Edwin Epps. William Ford, a future Baptist preacher and owner of
a lumberyard, purchased Northup in the New Orleans. Ford lived in the Great Pine Woods of
Avoyelles Parish by the

William Shakespeare s The Barnyard At Butterworth Farm
WILLIAM and Crocco pulled the Gator in the barnyard at Butterworth Farm. Crocco unloaded a five
gallon bucket full of water from the Housatonic River from the back of the Gator. Alright, go park that
thing. There s no need to burn anymore gas, William said. Crocco parked the gator in a shed behind
the barn and returned to the barnyard. So, what s the plan? Crocco asked. Where s that mangy old dog
I always see laying around here? You mean Flash? Crocco asked. Yeah. It s time for old Flash to take
one for the team, William said. Crocco walked into the barn. A moment later, he returned with one of
the farmhands. Walking slowly behind the farmhand was an old Springer Spaniel. This is Jack, Crocco
said introducing William to the farmhand. Flash is his dog. It s nice to see you again, Jack said,
stepping forward and extending his hand. Have we met before? William asked, shaking Jack s hand. It
s been over a decade. I m not surprised you don t remember me. I was with you the day you purchased
Sleeping Giant. You rode into that vagrant camp and kicked some ass, Jack said. Oh, yeah, I remember
now. We still talk about that around here. You had balls of steel doing that. You must remember Flash,
he rode out with us that day, Jack said, reaching down and scratching Flash between the ears. Oh, sure.
Flash, huh, it looks like it s been a long time since he lived up to his name. He definitely has a little
grey on his snout, but don t we all.

Nike Labor Rights
In the world of shoe production by Nike, production mostly happens overseas in third world countries.
Nike pays many professional athletes such as LeBron James to endorse their products, while the
people who are making the products get paid close to 50 cents per hour. Nike has attempted to take
steps toward better workers rights, but most of their factories include oppressive work practices(
Ethical Consumer Guide. Shop Ethical! ). With this being said, Nike has been very unfair to the
employees that work as hard as they can to barely make it in life.
Playfair 2012 says Nike is not doing enough to ensure all workers are paid the living wage, allow
workers to bargain collectively, eliminate short term contracts, and build long term relationships with

Challenges And Choices That We Make Us Grow As A Person
Obstacles in life are really challenges and choices that we make, placed there to help us grow as a

that although sometimes one may feel alone, Hashem is always with you throughout every obstacle
you may tackle. These challenges are what make us stronger in the bitachon and emunah in Hashem.

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Rachel Carson s Silent Spring
Rachel Carson s Silent Spring, is arguably a seminal text of the environmental movement and
continues to impact on critical ecological discourse fifty years on. The late 1950 s were a period of
relative economic prosperity in the United States with a parallel baby boom following World War 2.
However, the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union manifested economic and
political rivalries during the same time. It was in this era, that Rachel Carson wrote Silent Spring
which invoked the public into an environmental consciousness (Griswold 2012). Inherent in Carson s
text, that fundamentally sought to inform the wider public about the biological dangers inherent in
pesticides, was her ability to utilise a variety of literary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

development of the bypass has made access to the Nundah area easier and trains, tunnels and bus

Socially, proposal two would be beneficial, as it would allow for the development of higher quality
architectural styles of new apartments and potentially new shops with modern looks , which would be
attractive for some people. In addition, it would allow for an increase in other new developments to
facilitate for the increased amount of residents and therefore new recreational areas and shops for
clothing, food and eating out would be established to account for the new populations able to live in
Nundah as a result of the residential developments. The residential developments would accommodate
for the growing population that increases by 3% per year. However, negatively proposal two is not
beneficial, as the development only accounts for a wealthy businessperson demographic therefore
limiting the diversity of people living in the area. The increased amount of residents in Nundah would
increase traffic and congestion as a result of not having anywhere to park. Nundah would become
overcrowded as a result and the cultural heritage of Nundah s previous typical Queenslander type
homes would be knocked down to make space for future development sites. In addition, the elderly
populations living in Nundah may not approve of the rapid increases in populations and do not have
the option or ability to live in unit style homes and will therefore be forced out of the area.
Economically allowing high rise development is beneficial as it boosts the local economy, as new
businesses would be established and surrounding already established businesses would gain more foot

being made. In addition, more employment opportunities would become available, as new businesses
would open. The price of properties will rise as a result of the

Life Is Like The Stanzas Of A Poem
Life is a Poem
Life is like the stanzas of a poem. Anne Sexton is unlike any other poets, her life, not only influences
her poems, but her poems are part of her life. Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty), Baby picture, and Music
Swims Back To Me are three examples in which sexton describes her life as poems. The troubled
childhood and the depressed adulthood of Anne Sexton lead to the depressed and dark nature of her
writing.
Trauma from the abused childhood brought about the depressed nature of her poems. In Briar Rose
(Sleeping Beauty), Anne sexton describes the troubled nature of her childhood.
I was forced backward.
I was forced forward.
Each night I am nailed into place. (st.7,line 5 7.9)
That feeling of being forced and helpless. Being drained of life by the one who was supposed to keep
her safe cannot be forgotten, if we try to ignore the feeling it will just eat you inside. Sexton unlike
others did not try to forget it but embraced it into her poems as a way of treating her depression. She
said it aloud to the world in the form of her poems. This depression took the form of words and is an
important element of sexton s work. Like in the first stanza when Sexton was hypnotized and taken
when she was 2, and then to the seemingly loving sound of her father:
Little doll child, come here to Papa.
Sit on my knee.
I have kisses for the back of your neck. (st.1, line 15 19)
But the meaning becomes very clear as the poem progresses.
Although, Sexton s poetry is mainly sad and

Minoan Art Landscapes Are Not Necessarily Indicators Of...
Anne Chapin argues that Minoan art landscapes are not necessarily indicators of shrines, but do hold a
religious context. She continues on to say that they exist for the elite, that few common people would
have seen them, at that if they ever did it would signify to them the elite s power and connection to the
gods. She begins her argument by introducing past interpretations and the issues that arise from them,
then explains the possible significance of the floral motifs in landscapes, and finishes with her
interpretation of their meaning to the Minoan people. Evans begun the debate of what the landscapes
mean in Aegean art when he declared that the Monkeys and Blue Bird Fresco was for a secular use of
just existing for its aesthetic. Marinatos observed that the existence of crocuses and lilies are normally
used as decoration for alters and offering tables, and that monkeys and doves are often in connection
with goddesses, giving the fresco a much more religious connotation than Evans had originally
believed. She also pointed out the inclusion of flowers from all different seasons and environments
which led her to believe it was more than just wall decoration, and was contextualizing a room that
was shrine. Another fresco from Room 14 of the Royal Villa, has all stirred discussion. Originally
viewed as a bedroom due to remains of a bed found, now may be seen as a shrine due to a low
platform found and its walls are covered in a landscape. The Spring Fresco found in Delta

Lab Report On Insulin
Introduction
Insulin is a peptide hormone secreted by the β cells of the pancreas. It is secreted in response to
glucose and secretion occurs in a biphasic pattern. Insulin testing is commonly indicated in the
investigation of insulinomas, hypoglycaemia, diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, as well as a
number of other conditions. The analysis of insulin is often restricted by strict pre analytical

It all started with detachment The S.A.S was officially founded during World War II by a man named
David Stirling. David created the so called L Detachment, Special Air Service brigade. He created this
brigade to help infiltrate North Africa. Despite the name having people infer that many people were in
this unit, there were little people in the unit. They had less paratroopers for a reason, and his reason
was to throw off the Axis and make them believe they had more men than they actually had. After
World War II the S.A.S was closed because Britain didn t feel a need for them anymore, but two years
after the war a new S.A.S regiment was created. The S.A.S deal with counter terrorism, covert

Have you ever heard of Tom Clancy s Rainbow Six Siege? This game created by Ubisoft has been out
for almost three years and has a growing fan base. What does this have to do with CTU s you re most
likely thinking. Well this game uses attack/defense rounds in it and the players get to choose
characters from various CTU s for example you can play as the GSG9, the SAS, the Navy Seals and
the FBI SWAT. This is only a small list of playable characters, but Ubisoft went to the next level by
having each CTU have realistic weapons and gadgets that the CTU would use in real life. For example
one of the SAS characters Smoke uses toxin releasing smoke grenades, and something the SAS are
known for is their use of smokes and wearing gas masks to protect from their toxins.

Punishment In Dante s Inferno
What is Hell? During the fourteenth century, Dante Alighieri was exiled from his home in Florence,
Italy and wrote The Devine Comedy: The Inferno while in exile. In this text, Dante gives detailed
descriptions of Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. He wrote this poem in order to get revenge on the
political figures who had banished him. Walter Scott explained this perfectly in his book, The Heart of
Midlothian, Revenge, the sweetest morsel to the mouth that ever was cooked in hell (Scott). In many
ways, The Inferno was designed as a type of memoir to depict the sins that surrounded him in
Florence. In Dante s Inferno creates an imaginative connection between a soul s sinner on Earth and
the punishment the sinner receives in Hell.
The first example of Dante s the punishment fits the crime concept, in Inferno had to deal with the
wrathful and the sullen. In The Inferno, the fifth circle of hell is reserved for the wrathful and the
sullen. The wrathful are on the bank of the river Styx and are constantly fighting in the mud. Fitting
because they could not manage their anger in life. They spent their life fighting so they must fight the
mud for all eternity. Wrath and anger are both traits that are highly frowned upon even today. As in ...

This circle is reserved for the flatterers. These sinners are buried in Excrement. Fitting due to the fact
that while in life, the excrement, or BS , that came from their mouths, they now are drowning in. It
could not be more simply explained than it is in Jane Ere, It does good to no woman to be flattered by
a man (Bronte). Though in the case of this text, gender does not necessarily matter. Flatterers are
flatterers no matter their gender, race, or social standing. However, despite all of those factors, the
punishment was still horrifyingly brutal. Hundreds of flatterers in a large river of excrement is hardly

Sony has two major competitors when it comes to game systems and they are Microsoft and Nintendo.
Microsoft has a product called the Xbox 36, while Nintendo has the Wii.
Nintendo has centered its game play around motion capture technology by making all of their games
centered on motion sense.
The Xbox is backwards compatible with its previous Xbox games unlike the PS3 which can turn some
customers toward the Xbox.
Xbox also has a lower price than their most comparable competitor Sony, with the Xbox costing $150
and lower and the Playstation offered at no lower than $200.
Although Nintendo s game play mechanics are significantly different it also is offered for the cheapest
price causing customers to buy more of them.

Many have Athlete s Foot
Athlete s Foot One in five people have athlete s foot. Adults are more likely than children to get
athlete s foot. Men also get it more often than women do. People are more likely to get athlete s foot in
the winter because when people wear shoes that cover your feet it will make your feet warm and
sweaty. This will cause the fungus that causes athlete s foot to grow because the fungus will grow in
warm, damp places. Athlete s foot is defined by Merriam Webster dictionary as a fungal infection
affecting the skin between the toes. It is a form of ringworm. Athlete s foot is not a microorganism it a
fungus so it doesn t have a microbe. The name of the fungus is called tinea pedis. The disease name of

contact or contact with items such as shoes, stockings, and shower or pool surfaces. Athlete s foot is
found in warm, moist areas. It is caused by Epidermophyton floccosum. Athlete s foot is closely

The Theorist That I Chose To Write About Is Jean Piaget.
The theorist that I chose to write about is Jean Piaget. His theory deals with the nature of knowledge
itself and how humans gradually come to acquire it. His theory is basically known as the
developmental stage theory. In the developmental stage theory there are four different stages of the
developmental theory: the sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational
period.
Jean Piaget was born in Neuchâtel (Switzerland) on August 9, 1896. He was the oldest child of Arthur
Piaget and Rebecca Jackson. At age 11, when he was just a mere child at Neuchâtel Latin high school,
he wrote a short paper on an albino sparrow. This short notice is usually the start of an intelligent
scientific career made of over 60 books ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He died in Geneva on September, 1980.
Piaget s theory consisted of three different stages: Sensorimotor, Preoperational, Concrete
Operational, and Formal Operational. I ll start out by talking about the first one, sensorimotor. During
the sensorimotor stage, infants and toddlers acquire knowledge through sensory experiences and
manipulating objects. It was his observations of his daughter and nephew that heavily influenced his
conception of this stage. At this point in development, a child s intelligence consists of their basic
motor and sensory explorations of the world. Piaget believed that developing object constancy, the
understanding that objects continue to exist even when they cannot be seen, played an important role
at this point of development. By learning that objects are separate and distinct items and that they have
a presence of their own outside of what an individual perceives it to be, children are then able to begin
to attach names and words to objects. The next stage in the developmental theory is the Preoperational
stage. At this stage, kids learn through pretend play but still struggle with logic and taking the point of
view of other people. They also often struggle with understanding the ideal of constancy. For example,
a researcher might take a lump of clay, divide it into two equal pieces, and then give a child the choice
between two pieces of clay to play with. One piece of clay is rolled into a compact ball

2. What are some shortcomings of downloading music?
One of the main shortcomings of downloading music is the legal aspect. In other words, the person
that downloads music from the website that does not require payment should be aware of the fact that
it might me illegal. In contrast, iTunes is considered legal source for music download, as it requires
payment for each song or album. Therefore, there are numerous websites that are not legal. As well,
downloading music may require software, that may contain a virus or the file may already be
contaminated. As a result, a person may have a virus on their computer that will open a door to
hackers to retrieve sensitive information. Besides, the quality of the music file may be low; the lack of
space on the device for all the downloaded files and not everyone can afford to download a large
amount of music. As mentioned, there are various disadvantages that follow with downloading music.

Righteousness In WW1
The first couple of chapters in this selection was very interesting in that we see how the ways of the
world slowly began to overcome the righteousness of the people. Although they did not teach contrary
to the direct word of God, they did claim to have another system of beliefs that so happened to be
different the standard system of beliefs. This so closely follows current day problems; some religious
groups were simply formed to go contrary to the normal system of beliefs and sometimes become
hostile to the traditional believers. Thinking about the descriptions of the war doings draws a vivid
picture; a terrible war was fought, brother against brother, simply over a disagreement about who
should rule. When violence enters a conflict, surely

Analysis Of Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five Essay
Natalie Lubben
December 5, 2016
Rhetorical Analysis Essay Draft
Slaughterhouse five
War is a virus, a plagues our world and has experienced since the early ages of time. Once a war is
cured a new strain begins stronger and more unforgiving as the last. Humans are creatures of habit
which continue the violence. Kurt Vonnegut s novel, slaughterhouse five, is a deliberate and well
developed statement against war as expressed through the tone, rhetoric, and characters, making anti
war a prominent theme through the entirety of the novel. Slaughterhouse five advocates for the
prevention of war and all the terrible consequences that follow. Kurt Vonnegut s seemingly parallel
relationship with the main character of the novel, Billy Pilgrim, and the parallels of other characters to
real life individual paints a more vivid and real wickedness to war. All this happened, more or less.
The war parts, anyway, are pretty much true (1). In the first line of the novel Vonnegut declares his
credibility. In 1944, Kurt Vonnegut served in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After this
battle, Vonnegut was captured and became a prisoner of war. He was in Dresden, Germany, during the
Allied firebombing of the city and saw the complete devastation caused by it. Vonnegut himself
escaped harm only because he, along with other POWs (prisoners of war), were working in an
underground meat locker making vitamin supplements. Similarly Billy Pilgrim, the main character of

The Us Transfer Pricing Regulations
Discuss the US transfer pricing regulations, including advances pricing agreements, arms length
standard, and methods allowed to determine comparable prices. 60 The US transfer pricing
regulations, as outlined in Section 482 of the Internal Revenue Code, are similar to the Organization
for Economic Co operation and Development (OECD) guidelines. They have a commitment to the
arm s length principle, as do many other countries worldwide who use it as a basis for bilateral treaties
between governments. US Guidelines say that in the case of any transfer of intangible property, the
income shall be proportionate with the income resulting from that intangible property. They insist
companies provide documentation of a reasonable calculation for its transfer price and the burden to
prove the calculation inaccurate is not on the IRS. The US guidelines also authorize the IRS to
reallocate income, deductions, and other tax items between controlled taxpayers when necessary to
prevent evasion of taxes or to clearly reflect income . (26 CFR §1.482)
Write a summary of your selected case. 56 A prime example of the complexities involved in the
international transfer pricing and taxation of intangible assets is that of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), a
multinational pharmaceutical group who at the time conducted business in the USA, UK, Japan, and
Canada. This case resulted in the largest settlement in the history of the Internal Revenue Services

However there are additional threats and limitations that might affect foreign businesses, particularly
retailers. Especially, taking into consideration a significant role that local government plays in the
Chinese market.
The growing concern for retailers is that the Chinese government is discussing adopting protectionist
regulations in the retail industry. New regulations are showing signs already as the local government
has selected a group of local retailers and is giving them financial support. It is the first stage of
formation of the national champions local retail companies which are expected to become the leaders
of the retail industry. There are many reason why the Chinese government is compelled to undertake
these actions such as the retail industry is expanding at a fast rate and from the local population s
perspective the key industry players that benefit from it the most are foreign companies. This
viewpoint pressurises the government to protect the local retail chains, which are not able to compete
against international retail giants because of the insufficient financial resources. Therefore these
regulations are expected to favour domestic retailers in allocation of strategic locations and have been
highly welcomed by national retailers. Under these circumstances it is of utmost importance for
foreign retailers to re assess their future strategies. As it was mentioned before the

Representation Of Hamlet
The theatrical representation of Hamlet is one of mystery, action, character development, but most
importantly, tragedy. A considerable amount of people hold a common belief that the play, Hamlet, by
William Shakespeare is a tragedy, due to the fact that all the main characters perish at the end of the
play. An individual might take this stance on this argument upon first hearing. However, the reality of
the situation is that there are numerous parts of the play that show that this statement is not only
incorrect, but an oversimplified version of the bigger truth. Further investigation into this topic will
reveal that, in fact, the decisions the characters make throughout the duration of the play is where the
true tragedy builds up. At first, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As with Ophelia s tragedy, Laertes suffers a tragedy of being deceived and used by Claudius as a
result of Hamlet s impulsive behavior as well, further assuring that the tragedy exhibits itself in the
conclusions drawn by the characters in the story. The tragedy inside Laertes that is the causation of
Hamlet s killing of Polonius is evident through the scene where Laertes confronts Claudius on why he
did not punish Hamlet for his malicious act. Claudius then goes on to trick Laertes into plotting
against Hamlet, and Laertes proclaims, And so I have a noble father lost;/A sister driven into desperate
terms/Whose worth. if praises may go back again,/Stood challenger on mount of all the age/For her
perfections. But my revenge will come (4.7.27 31.) At this moment in time, it can be seen that while
Laertes expresses his emotions of rage, he is being manipulated by Claudius, as well as how the
dramatic purpose shows character development, as the tragic outcome of being tricked like this for
personal gain stems from that of how Hamlet s actions had resulted in the loss of his father, which was
ultimately one of Hamlet s rash decisions. Upon closer look, the place where tragedy lies is not only
where all the characters die, but where the outcomes of the decisions the characters make throughout
the course of the play, such as when Hamlet commits homicide towards Polonius, or how Claudius
can cause tragedies with the way he lives his as

Dna Is Not A Bodily Fluid
DNA is not a bodily fluid, but is genetic information that can be identified through a bodily fluid.
According to a scholarly journal article, in the Nineteenth century law enforcement agencies began to
collect, organize, analyze and store collections of DNA samples for forensic purposes (big brother).
DNA is extremely useful when nailing a suspect who it has been traced to. The biological evidence
left at a crime scene comes along with a great story that has yet to be told through bodily fluids such
as semen, blood or saliva found at the crime scene. These bodily fluids become key evidence to
solving a case.
There are numerous cases that have been solved based on the findings of DNA through multiple
bodily fluids left at a crime scene. The case that I had chose was E.K MacDaniel, Warden et al.
Petitioners v. Troy Brown, which was a case that dealt with semen taken from a rape kit. Although the
subject of rape could a be a touchy subject for most people, I find cases that deal with such a
horrendous act to be very interesting due to how the case is investigated and the measures it takes to
find the evidence needed to solve the case.

The schooling system is broken when it comes to whether students think learning the content or
receiving a grade is more important. I was talking to my father about this article, and he brought up an
advanced English class at the college he attended. The students who were eligible to take this class
were the most talented and the highest in their class. The professor was presented with a problem. He
did not feel settled grading these talented students in his class according to the bell curve college
classes commonly use. He did not feel right handing out Cs and Bs to these A students. Instead of
grading the students on the curve, the professor gave every kid in the class an A, and turned in their
final grades on the first day. He expected all of the students to show interest, give maximal effort, and
contribute to the class. He understood that they were all talented enough to receive an A. The
professor eliminated any stress a grade would bring to these students, and he allowed them to fully
focus on learning. I understand that a teacher cannot do that in a high school biology class, but there
are ways to prevent cheating and engage learning. This biology teacher may not feel right in allowing
these twenty eight kids to pass, but I believe that she should feel obligated in her heart to stay and
prevent this from happening again. School is about learning about oneself and growing as a person;
school is not about earning a grade and learning biology. This teacher needs to help kids learn about
what is the right thing to do before twenty eight of them

Integrated Project Delivery Method For Construction
Integrated Project Delivery Method
What is IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) as it applies to construction? Generally speaking here is
how it works: IPD is a process where a team of everyone involved in the project gets together and
create a plan then continue to be involved to see it through completion. The team is bound together by
contract legally and stands to gain or lose financially as a whole by the outcome of the project. The
American Institute of Architects (AIA) currently defines IPD as a project delivery method that
integrates people, systems, business structures and practices into a process that collaboratively
harnesses the talents and insights of all participants to reduce waste and optimize efficiency through
all phases of design, fabrication and construction (Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia 2015). Instead of
each stakeholder having their own side projects all members are stationed in the same pool where they
can exchange ideas. At this point, the project depends on collaboration and team building (Burcin
Karen, 2010).
In a bit more detail, the team can be owner, construction manager, architect, engineers, builders,
contractor, subcontractors, designers and even technical vendors depending on the project. They are
legally bound by a contract from the concept phase through the completion of the project. Each
member of the team is involved has a say in all phases and has a responsibility for completion and
quality of all phases. Unlike traditional

White People In Montgomery
After learning about the boycott and searching on various websites about Rosa Parks and the

After a period of time the boycott started, white people in Montgomery split into three major groups.
While most of the white people opposed the boycott with violent actions, some whites still helped
their African American employees by providing transportation support. Another business group who
wanted to make profits from black, remained peaceful and negotiated with boycott leaders.
Large amounts of white population in Montgomery went against the bus boycott and some even used

What lead up to The Boston Massacre? Like many disputes in history this was caused by two things,
money and honor. In the 1760 s the British Parliament introduced a series of new taxes on the colonies

of the British Soldiers that were stationed in the U.S. With each new series of taxes that were passed
tensions among the colonists and the British heightened. In 1765 the British Parliament issued The

Exfoliation is the key to getting skin that looks fresh, bright, and smooth.
As our skin ages, the rate of skin cell regeneration begins to diminish. The result is a dreary, dull skin

are the same, and various skin types will need a personalized approach to exfoliation.
Most people know why it s important to routinely exfoliate skin. However, not everyone does it
properly. The following are a few guidelines to get you on the right path for younger, fresher looking
skin.
1. If Your Skin Is Irritated Or Sensitive, Exfoliating Daily Is Not Necessary
Many people are apprehensive to skin exfoliation. This is simply because they are not ... Show more

Immediately after using a washcloth, generously apply a thick moisturizer to soothe, replenish and
hydrate your skin.
People with overly sensitive skin should avoid excessive scrubbing, which can result in undue
irritation. Prior to applying a clay based or exfoliating glycolic mask to your entire face, apply the
product to a small area on your face to test for any irritation or skin sensitivities.
2. Exfoliating Gloves
Exfoliating gloves were created to use with or without exfoliate scrubs, and the majority of them are
great to use on any part of your body. They are particularly useful for exfoliating your legs, as well as
other larger areas of your skin where using a washcloth or small sponge may take too much time.
Simply apply the cleanser to the gloves and gently begin to scrub the area of your skin you wish to
exfoliate. Completely rinse the gloves after you are finished and let them air dry naturally.
3. Use Facial Scrubs That Are Specifically Intended For Your Face
Make sure you use exfoliation products that are specifically intended for use on the

Cms Energy Scandal and Rebound
Beginning in 2000, CMS Marketing, Services and Trading Company began to make energy trades that
had no economic justification. As stated in the Securities and Exchange Commission cease and desist
order ¡§CMS materially overstated its revenues, expenses and energy trading volumes in 2000 and
2001 through the use of undisclosed round trip energy transactions conducted by its Houston based
energy trading division, MS T.¡¨ These trades have now become known as round trip trades. CMS
issued false Press Releases describing the trades as low margin trades when in fact there were no
margins. The Company admits that $5.2 billion of these trades were made in 2000 and 2001.
Round Trip Trades
Round trip or wash trades are simultaneous, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The special committee reported its findings and recommendations to the Board of Directors on
November 4, 2002. In a CMS press release (2002) the board approved the recommendations of the
committee and it¡¦s independent outside counsel. No new information was discovered, and there was
no indication of motives other than to pump up the marketing credentials of the Marketing, Services
and Trading business by showing higher sales volumes. Furthermore the committee found no apparent
effort to manipulate the price of CMS Energy stock or affect energy prices.
In March 2004 the SEC filed civil lawsuits against Preston D. Hopper, and Tamela C. Pallas, for fraud
and other securities law violations. The complaint alleges that Pallas orchestrated the sham
transactions to simulate robust operations within CMS s marketing and trading subsidiary. Hopper
failed to ensure the disclosure of the true nature of the trades. Hopper sponsored improper accounting
for the sham transactions and that, when CMS s outside auditors forced CMS to reverse the reporting
of the round trip trade revenue, Hopper fraudulently failed to disclose the reasons for the reversal. The
Commission is seeking in its civil suit that there be monetary penalties and that the court prevent them
from serving as officers or directors of any public company.
Are they legal? Round trip trades are

A Comparison of Blake, Wordsworth and Keats
A Comparison of Blake, Wordsworth and Keats
William Blake, John Keats and William Wordsworth all believe in the depth of the world and the
possibilities of the human heart. However, each poet looks towards different periods in time to capture
meaning in life. Blake looks towards the future for his inspiration, Keats towards the present and
Wordsworth towards the past. Regardless of where each poet looks for their inspiration they are all
looking for the same thing; timeless innocence. Each poet sought to transcend time by creating works
that dealt with life, death, hope and imagination and to discover some kind of deep truth or meaning in
existence. Life and death is an issue that we will all have to deal with at some point in our life ... Show

Technological advancement and social progress were steps backwards for Wordsworth and thus he
looked to the past for his inspiration.
John Keats did not have the luxury time that Wordsworth had to look to the past and reminisce about
things that were because he knew he did not have long to live. Even from a young age Keats felt his
life would be a short one and he so he applied himself to his art with a desperate urgency . Keats died
at twenty six years old and managed to leave behind some of the greatest poetry ever written. He didn
t bother to look toward the future because he knew that he wouldn t live to see it and he didn t look to
the past because he decided that it was more important to live in the moment.
Keats was very aware of his own mortality and his poetry reflected the intensity and the passion of a
man who didn t have very long to live. His poetry remains some of the densest prose ever penned
because, like his brief existence, he had to condense so much life into so little space. The thought of
impending death would be enough to make anyone fall into hopeless despair but Keats s incredible
talents and commitment to live in the moment perhaps allowed him to three lifetimes. The Chimney
Sweeper is a quintessential Blake poem as it embodies his belief in looking towards the future for
hope and comfort. Additionally, the poem is a perfect example of a child s movement from innocence

Gay Marriage And The Right Of Same Sex Marriage
In the United States, there is a communal controversy regarding the right of same sex marriage. I
decided to explore the views of two different authors who contrast each other. British Author, Andrew
Sullivan writes the essay, For Gay Marriage about equal rights on marriages for same sex couples.
William J. Bennett composes the essay, Against Gay Marriage giving his views on why couples of the
same sex should not be allowed to engage in marital relations. Sullivan supports the idea of gay
marriages while Bennett opposes the idea. Referring to the article in the Moral Issues book....
Page...give examples from there. Every human being has emotional needs and different interests,
giving rise to diverse and conflicting opinions on gay marriage dealing with social issues, domestic
partnership and religious viewpoints. Marriage is a statement of love and commitment; it is the key to
a pursuit of happiness. Homosexuals have identical emotional needs and temptations as heterosexuals
and there is no reason marriage should be permitted to one class and not the other. Sullivan is a strong
believer that gay and lesbian couples should be treated as equals in society and no different than
anyone else. Many people are afraid of the effects same sex marriages could have on our culture.
Sullivan explains that gay men and women are no different from anyone else in society as far as
political and moral beliefs, so they deserve equal opportunity. Sullivan stays strong in emphasizing
that

John Waters Use Of Taboos In Cult Film
Taboo as defined the dictionary is: banned on grounds of morality or taste. Taboo topics in cult film
are often dealt with in an excessive manner. These taboos can include ideas about sex, family, and
gender roles among others. They showcase these taboos in an excess manner. The following films
have not only discussions of taboo subjects but depict taboo acts. The films Eraserhead and Pink
Flamingos feature excess and the liberal discussion of taboos. Eraserhead represents a taboo of
traditional family life. The way in which everyone treats the baby is a taboo against the traditional
family views of the time. The film appears to want you to be appalled by the actions of Henry towards
the baby . Traditionally there would be the husband ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John Waters intends to break almost every possible taboo in this film. Waters s creatures were a
ménage of corpulent transvestites, blue haired flashers, egg sucking hags, and chicken fucking
adolescents, they write in John Waters Presents The Filthiest People Alive from Midnight Movies of
the characters in the film (137). This statement alone, about the characters, is enough to know this film
has crossed some lines. There is excess in the amount of taboos presented in this film including
bestiality, incest, cannibalism, and rape among many others. Some social taboos broken are worse
than others. While Divine holds the title of filthiest person alive it is her family that allows her to
reach that title. It is more so her son, Cracker that does or is involved in the worse taboo actions. His
act of bestiality with his chickens is much worse than Divine smuggling raw meat between her legs or
running a jogger off the road. Her most taboo act would be the incestuous act of fellating her son,
second to that being her murder of the Marble couple. The Marble couple on the other hand are
predators. Between their kidnapping of girls in order to impregnate them and sell their babies and his
flashing of his genitals to unsuspecting girls on the street, these two at first glance seem to be worse
and more vile than Divine and her

  • 2. Howard Zinn Chapter One Essay Columbus has always been portrayed as an enlightened, peaceful explorer who discovered a new world, and became friends with the native people. Howard Zinn s view on Columbus s encounter with the natives is an entirely different perspective. Zinn describes Columbus as a man who is willing to torture and kill others to be able to accomplish what he wants; in this case he wanted to obtain gold and other resources to take back with him to Spain. When Columbus and his men arrived to the islands, he noticed that the natives were generous, and accommodating because they willingly traded everything they owned and brought them such things like: food, water, and gifts. Since the beginning the natives offered all of their hospitality to Columbus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He became desperate to pay the dues back to the king and queen, so he order every native older than fourteen to collect a certain quantity of gold by three months. Once they had collected the amount, they would receive a copper to put around their neck, those without it had their hands cut off and bled to death. Many felt it was impossible to do this, and tried escaping but were always found and killed. When it was finally clear that there was no gold left, they took them all as slave labor to huge estates which are called encomiendas. Columbus s big plan for Hispaniola since the beginning was to take advantage of the natives and take their land, and the gold he believed was located there. He built the first fort in the Western Hemisphere, and left some of his men to find and store gold there. Columbus had to ask for a little more help from their majesties, he convinced them by saying he would take them as much gold as they need ... and as many slaves as they ask (Zinn,6 ) Columbus s plans affected the natives, in many ways; first of all they were going to lose their land, and also they were going to be taken captive for slave labor. Howard Zinn not only introduced a new perspective on Christopher Columbus, but he changed the way I viewed things. I never knew how much killings, and torture was put upon the natives in the searching of the New World . I learned how the hero I thought Columbus was, in reality was more like a villain. • 3. U.s. Army s 516th Signal Brigade Introduction With each passing year, current technologies continue to evolve or change while new technology or innovations emerge that, in some instances, profoundly change markets, societies, or ways of living. For all organizations, to include the military, the persistent change of technology means that organizations must also evolve and change accordingly. Based on research by Accenture s Paul Nunes and Tim Breene in 2011, only 7 percent of companies that cease to grow ever survive over the long term, which serves as a strong warning for any organization about the need to change. In addition to technological change, the military faces many other challenges as well. The most significant challenges include budgetary constraints, mandated drawdowns in personnel strength, and numerous mission demands across the globe. This is the greater context facing the U.S. Army s 516th Signal Brigade based in Hawaii. The 516th Signal Brigade consists of 2,500 soldiers and federal employees responsible for the installation, operation, and defense of tactical and strategic information technology (IT) networks for the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater (from Japan to Alaska). Every day the 516th Signal Brigade must defend against cyber attacks, provide IT service support to many thousands of users, and remain prepared to deploy quickly its mobile communications teams in the event of conflict or a natural disaster. • 5. School Coins Recently, I discovered a new way to make a few cents per day. It doesn t involve a savings account, or some form of investment such as a 401k. Instead, all it takes is an hour long stroll throughout the school campus I work at, and a quick jaunt to a gas station near the campus while I keep my eyes cast to the ground in order to spot bright, shiny objects. This new money collecting device is just that: a means of literally collecting money from the ground. And, there s plenty to be found, if you know where to look. Most often, I find pennies. Sometimes, I ll only find one. Other times, I will hit a jackpot. What is certain is that there s something there every time I take my walk. And surprisingly, one can make a small fortune. To date, I found about five dollars worth of coins. It may not sound much, but consider this: at home I have a change jar where I place all the coins I acquired after making a purchase. Once this jar fills up I go to my bank and convert those coins into a check and deposit into my savings. Often, it takes me a year to collect over $100 worth of coins. That book was entitled Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup. Northup was born a freeman that was obtained from his father after being freed by the Northup family due to loyal service. Growing up in the free state of New York, Solomon was allowed an education that was rare because of the sad disposition of the majority of his race. Before arriving in New Orleans, they made frequent stops at other slave pens to resupply goods and acquire more slaves. Escape always came to mind while on the ship but never came to fruition, as opportunity was lost. Arriving in New Orleans Northup was given the name Platt and placed in another slave pen similar to that in Washington. While in the pen they were to be kept in a presentable manner, washed, shaved and dressed in a cheap suit everyday. Slaves were instructed in moving to their spots and looking smart . Each slave was to stand in their spot while potential buyers viewed and analyzed them thoroughly. Northup became well known for his violin skills, so much so that Freeman was able to exploit such skills in pricing. However, after being exposed to small pox earlier from another slave, Northup got deathly ill and was rushed to the hospital, decreasing his value. Though still weak, he returned to the slave pen where he was sold to Mr. William Ford. Many different masters owned Northup, but two to be discussed are William Ford and Edwin Epps. William Ford, a future Baptist preacher and owner of a lumberyard, purchased Northup in the New Orleans. Ford lived in the Great Pine Woods of Avoyelles Parish by the ... • 13. Life Is Like The Stanzas Of A Poem Life is a Poem Life is like the stanzas of a poem. Anne Sexton is unlike any other poets, her life, not only influences her poems, but her poems are part of her life. Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty), Baby picture, and Music Swims Back To Me are three examples in which sexton describes her life as poems. The troubled childhood and the depressed adulthood of Anne Sexton lead to the depressed and dark nature of her writing. Trauma from the abused childhood brought about the depressed nature of her poems. In Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty), Anne sexton describes the troubled nature of her childhood. I was forced backward. I was forced forward. Each night I am nailed into place. (st.7,line 5 7.9) That feeling of being forced and helpless. Being drained of life by the one who was supposed to keep her safe cannot be forgotten, if we try to ignore the feeling it will just eat you inside. Sexton unlike others did not try to forget it but embraced it into her poems as a way of treating her depression. She said it aloud to the world in the form of her poems. This depression took the form of words and is an important element of sexton s work. Like in the first stanza when Sexton was hypnotized and taken when she was 2, and then to the seemingly loving sound of her father: Little doll child, come here to Papa. Sit on my knee. I have kisses for the back of your neck. (st.1, line 15 19) But the meaning becomes very clear as the poem progresses. Although, Sexton s poetry is mainly sad and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Minoan Art Landscapes Are Not Necessarily Indicators Of... Anne Chapin argues that Minoan art landscapes are not necessarily indicators of shrines, but do hold a religious context. She continues on to say that they exist for the elite, that few common people would have seen them, at that if they ever did it would signify to them the elite s power and connection to the gods. She begins her argument by introducing past interpretations and the issues that arise from them, then explains the possible significance of the floral motifs in landscapes, and finishes with her interpretation of their meaning to the Minoan people. Evans begun the debate of what the landscapes mean in Aegean art when he declared that the Monkeys and Blue Bird Fresco was for a secular use of just existing for its aesthetic. Marinatos observed that the existence of crocuses and lilies are normally used as decoration for alters and offering tables, and that monkeys and doves are often in connection with goddesses, giving the fresco a much more religious connotation than Evans had originally believed. She also pointed out the inclusion of flowers from all different seasons and environments which led her to believe it was more than just wall decoration, and was contextualizing a room that was shrine. Another fresco from Room 14 of the Royal Villa, has all stirred discussion. Originally viewed as a bedroom due to remains of a bed found, now may be seen as a shrine due to a low platform found and its walls are covered in a landscape. The Spring Fresco found in Delta ... In this text, Dante gives detailed descriptions of Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. He wrote this poem in order to get revenge on the political figures who had banished him. Walter Scott explained this perfectly in his book, The Heart of Midlothian, Revenge, the sweetest morsel to the mouth that ever was cooked in hell (Scott). In many ways, The Inferno was designed as a type of memoir to depict the sins that surrounded him in Florence. • 24. The Theorist That I Chose To Write About Is Jean Piaget. The theorist that I chose to write about is Jean Piaget. His theory deals with the nature of knowledge itself and how humans gradually come to acquire it. His theory is basically known as the developmental stage theory. In the developmental stage theory there are four different stages of the developmental theory: the sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational period. Jean Piaget was born in Neuchâtel (Switzerland) on August 9, 1896. He was the oldest child of Arthur Piaget and Rebecca Jackson. At age 11, when he was just a mere child at Neuchâtel Latin high school, he wrote a short paper on an albino sparrow. Piaget s theory consisted of three different stages: Sensorimotor, Preoperational, Concrete Operational, and Formal Operational. I ll start out by talking about the first one, sensorimotor. During the sensorimotor stage, infants and toddlers acquire knowledge through sensory experiences and manipulating objects. It was his observations of his daughter and nephew that heavily influenced his conception of this stage. At this point in development, a child s intelligence consists of their basic motor and sensory explorations of the world. Piaget believed that developing object constancy, the understanding that objects continue to exist even when they cannot be seen, played an important role at this point of development. By learning that objects are separate and distinct items and that they have a presence of their own outside of what an individual perceives it to be, children are then able to begin to attach names and words to objects. The next stage in the developmental theory is the Preoperational stage. At this stage, kids learn through pretend play but still struggle with logic and taking the point of view of other people. They also often struggle with understanding the ideal of constancy. For example, a researcher might take a lump of clay, divide it into two equal pieces, and then give a child the choice between two pieces of clay to play with. One piece of clay is rolled into a compact ball ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Analysis Of Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five Essay Natalie Lubben December 5, 2016 Rhetorical Analysis Essay Draft Slaughterhouse five War is a virus, a plagues our world and has experienced since the early ages of time. Once a war is cured a new strain begins stronger and more unforgiving as the last. Humans are creatures of habit which continue the violence. Kurt Vonnegut s novel, slaughterhouse five, is a deliberate and well developed statement against war as expressed through the tone, rhetoric, and characters, making anti war a prominent theme through the entirety of the novel. Slaughterhouse five advocates for the prevention of war and all the terrible consequences that follow. Kurt Vonnegut s seemingly parallel relationship with the main character of the novel, Billy Pilgrim, and the parallels of other characters to real life individual paints a more vivid and real wickedness to war. All this happened, more or less. The war parts, anyway, are pretty much true (1). In the first line of the novel Vonnegut declares his credibility. In 1944, Kurt Vonnegut served in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After this battle, Vonnegut was captured and became a prisoner of war. He was in Dresden, Germany, during the Allied firebombing of the city and saw the complete devastation caused by it. They have a commitment to the arm s length principle, as do many other countries worldwide who use it as a basis for bilateral treaties between governments. US Guidelines say that in the case of any transfer of intangible property, the income shall be proportionate with the income resulting from that intangible property. They insist companies provide documentation of a reasonable calculation for its transfer price and the burden to prove the calculation inaccurate is not on the IRS. A considerable amount of people hold a common belief that the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare is a tragedy, due to the fact that all the main characters perish at the end of the play. An individual might take this stance on this argument upon first hearing. However, the reality of the situation is that there are numerous parts of the play that show that this statement is not only incorrect, but an oversimplified version of the bigger truth. As with Ophelia s tragedy, Laertes suffers a tragedy of being deceived and used by Claudius as a result of Hamlet s impulsive behavior as well, further assuring that the tragedy exhibits itself in the conclusions drawn by the characters in the story. The tragedy inside Laertes that is the causation of Hamlet s killing of Polonius is evident through the scene where Laertes confronts Claudius on why he did not punish Hamlet for his malicious act. Claudius then goes on to trick Laertes into plotting against Hamlet, and Laertes proclaims, And so I have a noble father lost;/A sister driven into desperate terms/Whose worth. if praises may go back again,/Stood challenger on mount of all the age/For her perfections. At this moment in time, it can be seen that while Laertes expresses his emotions of rage, he is being manipulated by Claudius, as well as how the dramatic purpose shows character development, as the tragic outcome of being tricked like this for personal gain stems from that of how Hamlet s actions had resulted in the loss of his father, which was ultimately one of Hamlet s rash decisions. The complaint alleges that Pallas orchestrated the sham transactions to simulate robust operations within CMS s marketing and trading subsidiary. Hopper failed to ensure the disclosure of the true nature of the trades. Hopper sponsored improper accounting for the sham transactions and that, when CMS s outside auditors forced CMS to reverse the reporting of the round trip trade revenue, Hopper fraudulently failed to disclose the reasons for the reversal. • 45. A Comparison of Blake, Wordsworth and Keats A Comparison of Blake, Wordsworth and Keats William Blake, John Keats and William Wordsworth all believe in the depth of the world and the possibilities of the human heart. However, each poet looks towards different periods in time to capture meaning in life. Blake looks towards the future for his inspiration, Keats towards the present and Wordsworth towards the past. Regardless of where each poet looks for their inspiration they are all looking for the same thing; timeless innocence. Each poet sought to transcend time by creating works that dealt with life, death, hope and imagination and to discover some kind of deep truth or meaning in existence. Life and death is an issue that we will all have to deal with at some point in our life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Technological advancement and social progress were steps backwards for Wordsworth and thus he looked to the past for his inspiration. John Keats did not have the luxury time that Wordsworth had to look to the past and reminisce about things that were because he knew he did not have long to live. Even from a young age Keats felt his life would be a short one and he so he applied himself to his art with a desperate urgency . Keats died at twenty six years old and managed to leave behind some of the greatest poetry ever written. He didn t bother to look toward the future because he knew that he wouldn t live to see it and he didn t look to the past because he decided that it was more important to live in the moment. Keats was very aware of his own mortality and his poetry reflected the intensity and the passion of a man who didn t have very long to live. His poetry remains some of the densest prose ever penned because, like his brief existence, he had to condense so much life into so little space. The thought of impending death would be enough to make anyone fall into hopeless despair but Keats s incredible talents and commitment to live in the moment perhaps allowed him to three lifetimes. The Chimney Sweeper is a quintessential Blake poem as it embodies his belief in looking towards the future for hope and comfort. Additionally, the poem is a perfect example of a child s movement from innocence to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Gay Marriage And The Right Of Same Sex Marriage In the United States, there is a communal controversy regarding the right of same sex marriage. I decided to explore the views of two different authors who contrast each other. British Author, Andrew Sullivan writes the essay, For Gay Marriage about equal rights on marriages for same sex couples. William J. Bennett composes the essay, Against Gay Marriage giving his views on why couples of the same sex should not be allowed to engage in marital relations. Sullivan supports the idea of gay marriages while Bennett opposes the idea. Referring to the article in the Moral Issues book.... Page...give examples from there. Every human being has emotional needs and different interests, giving rise to diverse and conflicting opinions on gay marriage dealing with social issues, domestic partnership and religious viewpoints. Marriage is a statement of love and commitment; it is the key to a pursuit of happiness. Homosexuals have identical emotional needs and temptations as heterosexuals and there is no reason marriage should be permitted to one class and not the other. Sullivan is a strong believer that gay and lesbian couples should be treated as equals in society and no different than anyone else. Many people are afraid of the effects same sex marriages could have on our culture. Sullivan explains that gay men and women are no different from anyone else in society as far as political and moral beliefs, so they deserve equal opportunity. Sullivan stays strong in emphasizing that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

John Waters intends to break almost every possible taboo in this film. Waters s creatures were a ménage of corpulent transvestites, blue haired flashers, egg sucking hags, and chicken fucking adolescents, they write in John Waters Presents The Filthiest People Alive from Midnight Movies of the characters in the film (137). This statement alone, about the characters, is enough to know this film has crossed some lines. There is excess in the amount of taboos presented in this film including bestiality, incest, cannibalism, and rape among many others. Some social taboos broken are worse than others. While Divine holds the title of filthiest person alive it is her family that allows her to reach that title. It is more so her son, Cracker that does or is involved in the worse taboo actions. His act of bestiality with his chickens is much worse than Divine smuggling raw meat between her legs or running a jogger off the road. Her most taboo act would be the incestuous act of fellating her son, second to that being her murder of the Marble couple. The Marble couple on the other hand are predators. Between their kidnapping of girls in order to impregnate them and sell their babies and his flashing of his genitals to unsuspecting girls on the street, these two at first glance seem to be worse and more vile than Divine and her ...
