Media Influence On American Politics
Accentuating the comical nature of the media, society strongly adheres to the opinions of
influential leaders imposed by the susceptible nature of public conformity and the obscure outlying
opinions of the media figures. Emphasizing societal tendencies towards conformity, the medial
impact persuades public opinion on social issues. Society often finds comfort through being part of
a large group, and in turn they jump on the bandwagon of others when important issues are being
presented. One of the most influential mediums that media figures impact are the United States
elections. By voicing their personal opinions on the Candidates such as Fox News associating with
the republican candidate Donald Trump and MSNBC with Hillary Clinton, being... Show more

Weird, obscure events occur all the time in the world, and people must rely on the media the relay
this information to the public. After going through the facts, the media obtains the ability to screen
out any unnecessary information often leading to the event becoming extremely one sided. Often
times this media propaganda can be seen throughout history often with impactful consequences
such as the Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre was accentuated so much by certain political
leaders like Paul Revere through propaganda that the opinions towards the British across the
entirety of the colonies shifted towards hatred. In reality, the shooting had killed on a few people
during a riot, but the media had exaggerated the event to be an open fire killing many Boston
citizens. Media propaganda has the tendency to impactfully influence the public opinion, and Paul
Revere manifested it to spark the initial beliefs of American Independence. The impactfulness of
media also can be seen in the novel Brave New Worldby Aldous Huxley in which John the Savage
has been self exiled to an island in order to reflect on his life. During his period of atonement, the
World State media come and film him in order to exploit his savagery and primitive nature to the
citizens. Being isolated from the rest of the world, the people of the World State have never seen a
nonconforming individual, and by displaying John s negative attributes such as impulsivity, the
World State media can influence the opinions of all the citizens. The impactfulness of media in
society creates huge divisions in opinions as people adhere to different sources and believe in
different facts of events. Through media s manipulation of various events, they form the opinions
of the public and hold immense societal power. Often times, media propaganda is used

Essay on Analysis of Stille s Ganges Next Life
Bathing in the Ganges is a religious tradition that is an integral part of daily life in India. It
represents a purification of the soul, as Stille states, ...[A] river that, because of its divine origin, is
pure and purifies all those faithful who immerse themselves in her, (598). However, presently, there
exists a dilemma that threatens the survival of this tradition: the poor condition of the river. The
river is polluted with raw sewage, human and industrial waste, the charred remains of bodies, and
animal carcasses (598). In the Ganges Next Life, Alexander Stille contrasts traditional and modern
values. Traditional Hindu values, yet somewhat primitive, reflect thousands of years of experience
and practice. Modern values, on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nevertheless, he recognizes that environmental safety and other modern ideals cannot be avoided.
Demonstrating his acceptance of technology s ubiquity, Mishra says, These things satellite

and expands, the disparity between the two ideals becomes increasingly noticeable and
unavoidable. Although modern and traditional values are very distinct, they have already begun to
merge in many aspects of Indian life. For example, television, a relatively new technology, has
been adapted for the traditional purpose of worshipping. Indian families set up television sets on
altars and worship before them when viewing religious films. At a glance, this practice appears to
be sacrilegious and almost sinful. However, they are not worshipping the technology, but rather
utilizing the technology to worship their gods. Also, when celebrating the wedding anniversary of
the gods Shiva and Parvati, Indians decorate shrines with flashing electric lights pulsing disco
music. In the

Lexical Approach To English Language Teaching
CHAPTER 2:
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Introduction:
Lexical Approach and English Language Teaching The Lexical Approach is based on the idea that
language is made up of other structural elements besides what we traditionally think of as grammar.
Instruction focuses on relatively fixed expressions that occur frequently in spoken language rather
than on originally created sentences (Lewis, 1997a). This digest provides an overview of the
methodological foundations underlying the lexical approach and the pedagogical implications.
The lexical approach to foreign language teaching has received interest in recent years as an
alternative to grammar based approaches. The lexical approach concentrates on developing learners
proficiency with lexis, or words and word combinations. It is based on the idea that an important
part of language acquisition is the ability to comprehend and ... Show more content on

There were studies done on vocabulary acquisition through Internet based instruction. Many of
the studies (e.g. Al Jarf, 2007; Kaur and Hegelheimer, 2005; Smidt and Hegelheimer, 2004)
showed that students learned vocabulary more effectively when they were involved incidentally
or directly in vocabulary tasks and activities in the Internet based learning environment. As
researchers, we also believe that vocabulary acquisition is an area where computer assisted
language learning (CALL) has a particularly important role to play. Son (2001) explored CALL
research on vocabulary learning. His article discussed the use of the computer for lexical skill
development in terms of linking CALL with vocabulary acquisition and searching for effective
ways to use CALL in vocabulary instruction. Through the literature review, the article was assured
the positive effects of lexical CALL on implicit and explicit learning of vocabulary and

Cold War Research Paper
When most people think of War they think of weapons, killing, and vicious attacks, however, that s
not what the Cold War was; hence the name. The Cold war was primarily a conflict between the
Eastern bloc and the Western bloc involving mainly economic and political actions, but no direct
military action between the United Statesand the USSR. The Eastern bloc consisted of the Soviet
Unionand its satellite states, and the Western bloc consisted of the United States and its NATO
allies. The Cold Warbegan in 1945, nearly immediately after the end of World War II, then lasting
about forty five years. This war was caused by three main things, those being mistrust between the

These proxy wars were very malicious and were often occurring in Korea, Vietnam, and Angola.
In addition to this war costing so many lives, this war also had a large money cost; nearly Eight
trillion dollars. This shocking cost tends to take a lot of people off guard, although war is
expensive, most people were expecting things one to be relatively cheap because it was not
involving any military action. However, this war was full of threats, especially the threat of using
nuclear weapons. In order to have an accurate threat, the United States would continuously be
building nuclear weapons in case this war reached that extent. Therefore, that s where the large cost
came in, because, the United States was spending about thirty five billion dollars per year on the
construction of nuclear weaponry. This approximately forty five year war was a constant
worldwide clash between the Soviet Communism and the American capitalism. Fortunately, after
losing so many lives and so much money, it is thought that the United States finally won the Cold
War. However, the United States is only remembered as the winners, because the Soviet Union lost.

Frank Russell Capra s It Happened One Night
The Signal Regiment has commissioned a fair amount of outstanding officers throughout their
156 years of existence, including five recipients of the Medal of Honor. However, few are
probably aware that a well renowned Hollywood director graced the ranks as a signal officer
during World War II. Frank Russell Capra, best known for directing motion pictures Mr. Smith
Goes to Washington , Meet John Doe and the infamous World War II series Why We Fight , was
recently honored as a Distinguished Member of the Regiment at the 2016 Signal Ball in

Army staff found them to be powerful messages of why it was necessary for the U.S. to fight in
the war. The series is widely considered a masterpiece of war documentaries and won its own

now, the terms and images in the Why We Fight series make for great discussion, but it was a
different time back then , said Tony. Frank s career continued after the war and he went on to do
several more memorable films including a popular feature film titled It s a Wonderful Life .
However, even with all his Hollywood success, Frank regards the Why We Fight series as his

Essay on The Comparison Between Psychodynamic and...
The Comparison between Psychodynamic and Humanistic Theory
There are very distinct differences between Psychodynamic and Humanistic Counselling but both
ultimately offer the help and guidance to discover why we act the way we do and why we make
certain choices in our lives.
Throughout this essay, I will endeavour to explain those major differences and you will see that
despite these completely different methods of therapy, depending on what the problem maybe, they
can both work very effectively in their own way.
Carl Rogers, born in 1902, was the originator of the Person Centred Approach or Humanistic
Theory. His work was influenced by his experience of being a client and a counsellor (Casemore,
2006) and he believed a trusting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perls did not belive in a single particular theory. He thought you should always just go with the
flow and work with what you have and what is happening in the now. He placed great importance
on the client becoming self aware and thus developed the Gestalt theory. This therapy focuses more
on process (what is happening) than content (what is being discussed). The emphasis is on what is
being done, thought and felt at the moment rather than on what was, might be, could be, or should
be. Perls believed in minipulating the client, bringing them out of their comfort zone and
challenging them. To own what you say and do and to be aware of unconscious actions/words.
In the 1950 s Eric Berne began to develop his theories of Transactional Analysis. He said that verbal
communication, particularly face to face, is at the centre of human social relationships and
psychoanalysis.
His starting point was that when two people encounter each other, one of them will speak to the
other. This he called the Transaction Stimulus. The reaction from the other person he called the
Transaction Response.
The person sending the Stimulus is called the Agent. The person who responds is called the
Respondent.
Transactional Analysis became the method of examining the transaction wherein: I do something to
you, and you do something back .
Berne also said that each person is made up of three alter ego states:
Parent This is our ingrained voice of authority,

A Rose For Boland s Fond Memory
Eavan Boland s Fond Memory is a poem which is used to explore the poets past, acting as a
vehicle for returning to the days of her childhood. This poem is written with the intent to confront
a past memory and creates a relationship between Boland as a young girl and the woman she was
when she wrote this. Through the use of literary techniques we become a part of the journey that
Boland undertakes in order to go back to her childself and speak about her memories. This is a
very personal poem as Boland is sharing part of her life with us. The personal element to the poem
allows a relationship to be formed with the reader as she engages with our emotions. The
relationship between the poet and the reader creates a stronger image of the young lonely girl that
Boland is writing about.
The use of imagery in Fond memory is reflective of what it was like as a young Irish girl growing
up in London. The separation between Boland and the other children is represented through the
negative imagery that she uses to describe them, all the children wore darned worsted, reflecting
her dislike towards them. It is interesting that the same negative imagery isn t used when she
describes herself, I dressed in wool as well the descriptions are separate so the reader views them
as two separate identities, mirroring how Boland was viewed at the time. By emphasising the
hostility that she felt as a child, Boland is also revealing that as an adult she still harbours
resentment towards the

My First Day Of An American School
Topic: My first day in an American school
Specific Purpose: To tell a story about the my experience in the United States school system
compare to the Jamaican school system.
Thesis Statement: We should appreciate what we have before we lose it because the grass is not
always greener on the other side.
I.Introduction
a.After living in Jamaica for 15 years and 9 months, I went to live with my mother in Central Islip
in Long Island New York. It was sad to leave behind all my friends and my old school, but this
would be a fresh start to find new friends and to go to a new school.
b.I was very excited to start my new school after seeing how cool school seemed on TV. The no
school uniform, having lockers, walking out of class when the bell rung even is the teacher is still
talking and school buses. School seemed like a dreamland on TV compare to the strict school I
was leaving.
I. Main point 1
a.my school was just a 6 minute walk for my house so I didn t get to experience the school bus
ride. My little sister who went to school in America all her life, helped me map out how to get to
my first three classes on a school map they gave me during registration.when I walked through
the big glass doors, my mood went from being excited to nervous. The main hallway was a big
circle and you had to walk in one direction during the period changes. I was overwhelmed by the

The T-34 Research Paper
The tank was one of the deadliest weapons in World War 2. Over 331,000 tanks were produced
during the war. Most of the countries fighting in the war had tanks, including the British,
Americans, Germans, and the Soviets. All of these countries had tanks that outperformed their other
tanks, and that outperformed the other countries tanks. One of these was the Soviet s T 34.
The T 34 was created to replace the BT series of fast, lightweight tanks. The Soviet realized the
BT s weakness in battle and requested its official replacement in 1937, two years before World
War Two. The T 34 became the most produced tank in the war and is considered to be one of the
best tanks in the war. Jason Belcourt, talking about the T 34, said In 1941 when Hitler launched
Barbarossa, the tank was indisputably the best in the world. The T 34 was able to stop the German
advancement into the Soviet Union and save the country. The T 34 had some flaws though. The
sloping armor of the T 34 provided safety from the weak 40 mm guns of the Germans, but the
armor made the quarters cramped and the working conditions poor. To go along with the small size
of the tank, the technology was very outdated. To communicate with the other tanks, a flag system
would have to be used. The aiming systems were also very outdated and couldn t compete ... Show

the Allied operations in North Africa, Europe and in the Pacific. It was cheap, easy to make, and

Sherman was able to accommodate a 5 man crew and was able to go 25 MPH for 120 miles. The
Sherman was a great tank that was used many decades into the Cold War. The Sherman was able to
serve its country by being a reliable weapon to fall back on and being cheap and easy enough to

How Did Stalin Influence American Culture
After World War Two, Stalin s Iron Curtain descended across Europe. This was an attempt by him
to isolate and shield the Soviet Union from Western and non Soviet controlled areas. Above all,
Stalin and other Soviet leaders feared influence from The United States. Their fear was quite
justified, as Soviet people became incredibly curious and eager to borrow and emulate American
culture. Similar fears were present in other communist Eastern European countries in the Eastern
Bloc. Despite Stalin s and communist leaders attempt at isolation, Eastern European people were
still able to breach the Iron Curtain and learn about Western ideas and culture. Culture in the
Eastern Bloc became dominated by American taste and culture as early as the 1940s, but it wasn t
until the 1970s that rock music began to dominate the scene. The influence of rock and rock in
Soviet music can be seen as early as 1957. Prior to this, jazz music had been the popular form of
music. At the VI World Youth Festival in Moscow, visiting performers played songs titled Crazy
Rhythm and Rock n Roll 1. The journal Soviet Culture printed letters from attendants who

Western Influence on Japanese Business Management Essay
Japanese management: how the western influence and the 1990s crises have modified
management practices in Japan, and in Japanese companies broadly speaking? Introduction
Japan has been the second largest power in the world for several decades, now. As a quite
remote island in Asia, its history and development shaped a country with its own way of
thinking and behaving, and as far as we are concerned, with a great economy and a technological
lead over its Asian neighbours. After the Second World War (WWII), Japan started from scratch,
and its business succeeded very well, first on the domestic market and then on a world scale. In
the 1970s, Westerners were looking at Japan in awe, and tried to know how it could be such a good

Based on their original religion (Shinto), the cult of the ancestors is widespread and, in Japan,
people are much more respectful of their parents than in Western countries. In the same way,
decision making and socialisation processes are seen very differently, for Japanese will tend to
take much time and involve many people to evolve a plan, but then will implement it directly
and by themselves, with more pleasure than Westerners who are deemed to make quick and
undemocratic decisions, but execute them slowly and indirectly. As a result, Japanese would be
more willing to work and more productive because of their understanding of what a strategy
means: politeness, team work, friendship and harmony are key features of the Japanese culture.
This can be seen in the sense of community which strikes every foreigner: the individual is under
represented whereas the group as a whole is always put on the foreground, hence the famous
obedience and respect of Japanese people. Outcomes of WWII At the end of the Meiji era (19th
and beginning of the 20th centuries), Japan had already experienced an opening and some
misunderstandings with foreign countries (e.g. Perry?s crew). The first half of the 20th century
brought its lot of mishaps, too, and this fostered the spread of hatred and racial doctrines: hakko

Pros And Cons Of Ancient Empires
The economy has been essential for empires and kingdoms throughout the human history. It was
the main reason that caused the appearance of nobility and political organization after the
specialization occurred just in the beginning of the Neolithic revolution. Later on, during the
mid bronze age, Governments were mostly not able to sufficiently feed their needs as all the
societies were used to acquire some of their demands using trade. Even if they were able to, the
greed to possess more luxurious and exotic goods had always kept the path open for nations to
trade. Late Bronze Age was a period of mass trade between superpowers, as most of them were
well fed and introduced to none local foods. Besides, emperors sought luxurious goods more than

The body of our evidences and documentations is very small, but as the few we have can
illustrate, Ships were mainly the best option to choose and luxurious goods, were the most wanted
type of goods. These can be supported by reasonable proofs. For instance, ships were most likely
to be used as the top notch carriers. Most of the civilization centers and important cities were
located whether on the banks of the rivers or coastlines. As a result of the potential lack of
quality or insufficient distance of the roads, carriers but ships had problems delivering items
safe and on time. Moreover, luxurious goods seem to be the most demanded items during those

Webster has also successfully deployed the model, which uses its Relationship Managers to offer
a compelling value proposition to customer and prospects. In 2014, the Webster Bank received the
Best Online Banking in New England which is recognized by J.D. Power. The company upgraded
its online banking as well as its mobile banking. This increased customer satisfaction, which is
extremely important. The ability to expand is also a great strength because since the bank is
successful in four states it could be in many other states as well as international (Webster Financial,
2015).
Weaknesses
Along with strengths, every business has its weaknesses even if they do not want to admit it.
One of the biggest weaknesses in any bank is the high staff costs. This is because of the amount
of qualifications needed to work at a bank. Webster Bank is in only four states. This is a problem
because it does not give the bank the full profitability it could get. The bank is missing out on a
big opportunity. Another big weakness is the amount of products that the bank offers. With each
product more employees need to be hired. It could also make the customer confused as to what
they really need. Being involved in the community and being connected with the customers is a
great thing but it can also be a bad thing. It is great to have these connections but, in the end it is a

Metacarpi Reflection
The screenplay Metacarpi is the story of an institutionalized pianist and a lion aspiring friend
whose pursuit of freedom explores ideas of whether we might be happier in an institution if it
allows us to truly be ourselves.
When coming up with the story for the script, I first created the character of Dmitriy and the story
grew out of his character. A simple characterization of Dmitriy is a man struggling to free himself,
whose aura of grandeur and potential for greatness is lost on his environment. Out of this came the
idea of an institutionalized pianist who wants to perform the perfect performance. As the story
grew I added the characters of Sonja, the sister who desperately wants to get her brother out of the
institution, Berta the nun who is the cause of Dmitriy s daily irritation due to her ... Show more

It is through their actions and visual appearance that I chose to show their characteristics. An
example of this would be that at no point in the script does George verbally express that he wants
to dress up as or be a lion, he just does it without talking about it. Instead of explaining it or
mentioning it in dialogue, we have the visual images of George with the lion s mane, George
with the painted on whiskers, and George with the permanently attached stuffed lion tail. The
visual suffices to suggest to the audience that George enjoys dressing up as a lion. The visual was
crucial for the portrayal of Dmitriy s character. I found visual detail allowed me to reveal more
about Dmitriy than the dialogue could. It was also served to represent his journey. The fragile gaunt
Dmitriy in the brocade dressing gown with the bloodied knuckles, barefoot, who becomes the
beaming, tailcoat clad, barefoot Dmitriy. The self isolating Dmitriy who observes his sister through
a window rather than meeting with her, who becomes the embracing brother. These images allow
for a visual representation of Dmitriy s change and

critiqued and analyzed in several ways, the characters and story line becoming familiar throughout
academia. However, what many high school classrooms do not address is the sub textual
homosexual references made throughout the book. In fact, several books authored by Melville,
once viewed upon closer inspection, can be read as a testament to the queer tendencies of the
novelist. Much of the works produced by Melville focus specifically on the interactions between
men and allude to the possible homosexual relationships between the characters. Although Melville

Melville s own life supports the possibilities of a less than heterosexual interpretation, which is
only furthered by his literary works. Specifically, in Melville s novel Moby Dick, there are
several allusions to a possibly intimate relationship between Ishmael and Queequeg, as well as
several sub textual references to homosexual attraction in general. The most blatant example of
this is found in the interactions of Ishmael at the inn in chapters three and four. Not only do they
share a bed, Ishmael claims to have never slept better in [his] life that night (Moby Dick, 64).
Upon waking, Ishmael finds Queequeg s arm thrown over [him] in the most loving and
affectionate manner. He even goes as far as to note: You had almost thought I had been his wife.
(Moby Dick, 65) Later, as Ishmael and Queequeg smoke together, Ishmael states that Queequeg
pressed his forehead against mine, clasped me round the waist, and said henceforth we were
married. (Moby Dick, 112) There are several other allusions to the marriage of the two characters
such as in Melville s description of Queequeg s actions: his bridegroom clasp and hugging a fellow
male in that matrimonial sort of style. (Moby Dick, 68) Another compelling passage from the book

Impact of Malls on Small Shops and Hawkers
A small sample survey of the impact of malls on small shops and hawkers in Mumbai points to a
decline in sales of groceries, fruits and vegetables, processed foods, garments, shoes, electronic
and electrical goods in these retail outlets, ultimately threatening 50 per cent of them with closure

England s Influence On Normandy
Although England s monarchy has played a prominent role throughout its history, its very first
monarch was actually a conqueror from another land. King William began his journey in
Normandy, a region that is current day France. Sometime during the year of 1028, he was born in
Falaise, France to Arlette (also known as Herleva), a tanner s daughter, and Robert I, the Duke of
Normandy. As an illegitimate son of his father, he was known as William the Bastard among his
enemies and critics. He eventually rose to power through his conquest of England, and all
throughout history his descendants held the English throne. William the Conquerormarried Matilda
of Flanders as an assurance of an alliance, and they had 4 sons, one of which died at an early age.

He was also able to persuade the Pope to back him, because the Pope was outraged that Harold
had sworn on his precious holy relics and didn t keep his word. With the power of holy influence
and 700 ships, William set sail towards England to claim back what was rightfully his. Fortunately
for the enraged Duke, England was already occupied fighting Tostig and another Harold, a
Norwegian duke, who wanted the throne as well. Nevertheless, King Harold was able to meet
William s troops in a final battle which would eventually be known as the Battle of Hastings. In
September 1066, the Normans (France) and the Anglo Saxons (England) finally met and charged
into battle. Due to the inefficiency of warfare during this era, none of the soldiers could see their
leaders, who were feared dead on multiple occasions. Duke William finally turned the tide of
battle by yelling out and rallying his troops, and the battle was won when King Harold was shot in
the eye. At long last, William the Conqueror had gotten his crown, and was now the ruler of

The World Wide Web Is A Better Source For Students...
The world wide web is growing immensely and it is filled with a plethora of information that is
easily accessible to anyone and everyone with an internet capable device. Students today are
constantly glued to technology, whether it is for leisure purposes or school purposes, thus making
them susceptible to reading and gathering accurate as well as false information from the internet.
Many students do not know how to navigate the web effectively or will not check a source s
authority when doing research, and as a result, they gather faulty information. The fact that students
can easily access information on the web when doing research, it is imperative for teachers to teach
students how to properly evaluate websites in order to assure that they are gathering authentic
information from credible sources. There are certain criteria educators and students can use in order
to confirm the authenticity of a website. In this paper, I used ten of Kathy Schrock s criteria to
evaluate two websites to determine which is a better source for students researching information
on the topic The Human Body. The criteria used are underlined and written in bold, and below
each criterion will be a summary of my evaluation of both websites. This paper will conclude
which website is better for the research.

Changing Nyc s Unemployment Rate
Changing NYC s Unemployment Rate New York City is one of the most populous cities in the
world. With the massive amount of people who call New York City home, there is a need for a
vast amount of job opportunities. Unemployment is one of the major problems that the people in
New York City face. Finding a job can be stressful and hard. In order to combat the increasing
unemployment rate in New York City, there needs to be more help for students in college, new
federal programs that will create new jobs, and lower taxes on businesses. Education is known as a
pathway to many new job opportunities, hence creating a need for a postsecondary degree in order
to obtain employment. A high schooldiploma is a prerequisite for many entry level jobs. There are
numerous public schools in New York City that offer twelve years of education free to students
from all races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. After one has graduated from public school, he or
she may want to continue his or her education and go on to college. A college degree opens the
door to more job prospects than would a high school degree. The federal and state governments
offer students money based on students financial need, but the cost of college does not just stop at
the cost of tuition. Students have to pay for room and board, transportation, textbooks and a
multitude of other essentials to cover their everyday needs. All of these costs add up and can

Disadvantages Of Mongols
Throughout history the Mongols have continuously demonstrated a remarkable ability of
pioneering strategic and effective methods of successfully conquering more structurally organized
civilizations than themselves. Their life as pastoral nomads produced numerous harsh obstacles to

manpower was combated by their tenacious and fierce warrior like mindset which propelled them

these claims actually manage to carry some weight, such as dubs changing the meanings of entire

important class that I can use to measure my academic level. A lot of important things I learned
in this class for this semester, which I can use to improve myself especially in generating ideas,
revising compositions, and improving editing process. Idea is the first thing we need to have
before working on our composition so that it can lead and keep us on our objective in writing an
essay. In this class, I notice that before working on any assignment, my instructor always ask the
whole class to write down any ideas we have to do the task. The reason why she gave us specific
time to think and write our ideas is she wantto train us to brainstorm before doing something. This
is how I generate my idea and choose the best option that I have using the list of ideas that I have
from brainstorming process. This process can be interesting part of generating idea because I just
write what I have in my mind even though it is not logic and impossible to do. However, here

how race has an impact on our society Globally, ways in which people acquire racial identity and
also ways in which people move beyond it. I will be using the two literally pieces previously

and how they moved beyond it. A perfect example of racerelations are the issues that took place
Globally concerning Martin Luther King Jr. fighting for the right of his people almost similarly to
the way Brillle fought in the story The prisoner who wore glasses. Another perfect example of race

Cost effective methods are necessary for broad scale regular assessment of forest vigour cover
complex terrain. Satellite derived vegetation indices such as NDVI can monitor large remote
areas with an effective database for evaluating vegetation vigour. The value of NDVI varies from
+1 to 1. The values nearer to +1 indicate dense vegetation and the values approximate to 1
indicates water bodies. The high percentages of spectral variance in individual scenes can be

correlation to the percentage of vegetation cover. The greenness feature measures the presence and
density of green vegetation (Crist et al., 1986).

Legal Issues Game Developers Face
Every industry must work within the confines of the law. It should come as no surprise that the
video game industry is not immune. Common red flags like Copyright infringement, using the
likeness of others, or 1st amendment concerns, are volatile problems that can hinder the progress
with any studio. Learning how to identify major issues such as these can help a company avoid
legal ramifications in the long run. Three interesting cases that highlight these issues and can be
used as great examples are: Tetris v. Xio, Davis/Dupree/Keller/Ferragamo v. Electronic Artsand
Schwarzenegger v. Entertainment Merchants Association.
The first case I wanted to point out was Tetris v. Xio. This was a case that dealt with copyright
infringement issues. Tetris Holdings, LLC, own the popular tile matching puzzle gameTetris. They
found themselves in a legal battle with Xio Interactive Inc., the creators of Mino, a puzzle game
of a similar look and feel. Tetris, LLC accused Xio Inc. of creating a game that was strikingly
similar to their title. Xio argued that they had only copied the non protectable elements of the
game and should not be held liable to any copyright infringement laws. Unfortunately for Xio,
after delving into the games further, it was discovered that Mino, copied 14 of it s protected
elements to include the size and shape of the games playing filed to the composition of the blocks
that fell. In the software world, you can only protect

The Trail of Tears was a sequence of forced tribal removals from certain lands to another. The
impact that this had on American society in the nineteenth century is little due to the fact that
most of the country was white whom had more privilege and were becoming big landowners or
plantation owners. The relocations were enforced and the Indians were required to move as a
result of their want to remain as a nation. To these tribes, family and relation was everything, so
they would rather be thrown off land than become split up. Today, the Trail of Tears is important
because of the more frequent use of freedom of speech and the fights for equality from the United

as a country, should avoid. A trail of tears is still happening, due to the forced deportation of

each counselling model. It will also contain other skills a counsellor could use to obtain/maintain a

There are 3 main outcomes needed within this assignment. The fist outcome is to distinguish and

This model was created by Carl rogers. He believed for a personality change to occur the counsellor
would need to use the six core conditions and use them continuously over a period of time (Rogers,
1957).
The first step would have involved the counsellor to create a psychological contact with Felicia.
The second step within the process would be the counsellor needs to ensure that Felicia is in a state
of incongruence. Incongruence is the difference of the client s self image and actual experience. If
Felicia s self image and actual experiences don t match it could lead her to feeling vulnerable and
create anxiety. On the other hand, the counsellor needs to be congruent. This would mean the
counsellor will be himself 100%. This will involve the counsellor being honest and transparent of
who they are and not putting up a façade. The counsellor should show unconditional positive
regard (UPR) to Felicia. Unconditional positive regard is the counsellor accepting and supporting
the client without judging them. The fifth condition the counsellor should actively use would be
empathy. Empathy is the skill to understand another individual s feelings. This is vital within
therapy. The counsellor should be able to experience the client s feelings without it having effect on
their emotions. The final condition would be the counsellor and the client have a minimal degree

Themes Of Guilt, Loss, And Acceptance
As human beings, we have the capacity for understanding. Poetry allows a writer to express the
most personal experiences, thus allowing corresponding reliability among individuals. Through
the captivating focus of each poem, themes of guilt, loss, and acceptance allows for an
overarching sense of cultural cognizance. The poem, To my father, written by Frank Bidart
exhibits the passing of a father (319). Wanda Coleman s poem, Dear Mama, depicts a loss of a
loved one (354). Theresa Hak Kyung Chadepicts depression in, Dead Words (430). Poems that are
personal and emotional have been modified and persistent. There is a higher focus on experiences
through subtlety. This allows the poems to speak to the heart of man. These relatable incidents
provide a systematized congruency between delicate situations. Furthermore dismissing divisions
placed by society in regards to income, social class, and race.
Bidart wrote this poem on the account of his father s death. The father is described as a distant
stranger. Through this distance, anxiety and guilt can be seen throughout the poem. Bidart begins
the poem by saying, I walked into the room , and from the first line, we can see a detachment
between the father and son. The words the room provides a cold attitude towards the death of the
father. Objects residing in the home appear to be communicating to the speaker, defining the sound
as, a painful cacophony (4). These sounds are representations of the inner guilt the author

The Development of Harmony from Schumann through Brahms to Debussy
In studying three composers, Schumann, Brahms and Debussy, it is possible through analysis, to
construct a Harmonic development through time from early 1800 s to early 1900 s. I will go about
deducing a harmonic timeline by individually looking at each composer then will conclude with a
final comparison summarizing how different harmonic elements develop with the Romantic
Movement and its progression.
The harmonic journey will start with Schumann s Kinderszenen, or Scenes from Childhood. This is
a set of thirteen reminiscences of childhood, written during a temporary separation from Clara.

Bar 13 (and 14) also consists of a repeated perfect cadence in C major over a C pedal in the bass.
The use of pedal here is later magnified in many of Brahms pieces, particularly in Rhapsody No.2.
In Schumann s Frightening , in bar 21, the C major chord is followed by a tritonal harmonic leap
onto a sforzando dominant seventh chord of F sharp major at beat 2. This chord, together with a
rising chromatic line heralds the return of the tonic key. Schumann has reinterpreted the chord of C
major as the Neapolitan chord (the flattened second) of b minor (the tonic), making the surprising
tritonal leap more logical than it initially seems. The original motivic material is presented exactly
as it occurred in bars 1 4 to provide an aesthetic harmonic balance to the piece. Textually, Schumann
s harmony strikingly contrasts the other pieces, for instance, there are often offbeat semiquavers in
the right hand creating a busier/more contrapuntal texture
The next harmonic platform is in the study of Brahms devices and techniques in harmony and
texture. It is important to note that Brahms, in particular, led the strongest resistance to the more
extreme tendencies of musical Romanticism in general (as epitomised by Wagner s music) and I feel
this comes across in his use of harmony. Through his diligent study and

Music and Painting
During the study of 20th century Western music history in this class, I found out there are may
same movements of art and music. I took 20th century Art history as well so there is always the
comparison of them in my mind. Music and art appear to be two different art forms. Music is both
auditory art, but also an art of time and movement. Music express musicians feelings through
sound, it will create images in the mind of the viewer for them to have a variety of feelings, and to
elicit in the viewer emotional resonance. Painting is a visual art, space art. It is static. Painters use
lines, shades and other forms to sketched out some figurative or abstract pattern. It provide visually
to the viewer a strong impression and cause them reflect a variety of emotions, resulting in aesthetic
stimulation. Music and painting each is done through a different medium with different means of
artistic expression. They both convey people the author s expression of the content and emotion.
Many artists themselves are both musicians and painters, such as Kandinsky, Schoenberg,
Leonardo da Vinci and extra. One of the great examples is Wassily Kandinsky. He is one of the
representatives of Russian expressionism painter. He also was a man versed in music. He is a

TFSA Vs Rrsp Essay
A RRSP is a Registered Retirement Savings Plan that is an account set up to save for retirement
whereas a TFSA is a Tax Free Savings Account that is set up for any type of savings goal. They
both differ in their own ways however, both offer tax advantages to help one reach their savings
goals.
First, in order to make contributions to a RRSP one needs earned income on the other hand for a
TFSA one does not. Also, another key difference between the two plans are that RRSP contributions
are tax deductible as you can deduct your contribution from the income you report on the tax
return. A TFSA is the exact inverse, as you cannot deduct your contribution on your tax return.
Furthermore, when it comes to withdrawals, both of the plans are opposite once again as TFSA
withdrawals are tax free and RRSP withdrawals aren t tax free. Also another difference would be
the age limit for making contributions, with a RRSP one has to stop making contributions at the
age of 71, whereas in a TFSA there is no age restriction, one could make contributions for how ever
long they want. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now when it comes to choosing one plan and making the most from it, it depends on a few key
factors including tax situations, when your planning on taking out the money, and individual
circumstances. The best path would be to contribute to both, but most citizens can t afford that.
The way I look at it, RRSP is more long term (10 years or more), and TFSA is more short term (1
10 years). If the client is a young adult and is saving for an investment within the next 10 years,
the client should invest in a TFSA. If the client however is older, someone who maybe is a full
adult, perhaps over the age of 28 should look to invest in a RRSP, as that person will need money
once he or she has retired. Plus, if the person is being taxed heavily, its always good to get that

Alpine Lodge Research Paper
On the side of the road along route 33 in Alpena, WV sits the Alpine Lodge. The Alpine Lodge
opened up in 1939 as a hunting and fishing lodge and came to be because of a man named Adam

Adam Dahmer died in 1942 from a massive heart attack while walking in the snow to the Alpine

baking for the lodge until her last days. At ninety, Julia had help from her daughter Lorraine

How Did The American Government Affect South Korea
After the Japanese invasion, Korea had been swept into turmoil, which lead to the division of the
country into two separate states. In the North the Democratic People s Republic of Korea,
(D.P.R.K.) and in the South the Republic of Korea, (R.O.K.). The United States presence in South
Korea would remain until an independent and unified Korean government was established
successfully in the country. Following the impact of the Korean War, South Koreahas undergone
significant reform, which has aided in many changes in the cultural, economic, and political growth
in the country. In 1945, the Japanese Army surrendered as the Union of Soviet Socialist (USSR)
crushed them in battle and advanced through Korea. When the United States found out they feared
the USSR would take over the Peninsula and had to take action. With the USSR already in the
northern region two United States Army colonels started developing a plan to find a dividing line
to separate the country. At this time, the line meant to be a provisional administrative arrangement
and Korea would eventually come together again under a new government. The USSR backed
communism with North Koreaand America favored capitalism in South Korea. As... Show more

Examples Of America s Competitiveness
Let s be honest. America may be the most competitive country in the world though China is
rapidly catching up. Competitiveness lies at the heart of what has driven our country to become
the best on Earth at so many things. Whether the space race, the arms race, the human genome
race, or the rat race, we Americans have been determined to come in first in just about
everything we do including, seemingly, bad stuff like obesity, gun violence, and divorce. Now
don t get me wrong; I m not saying competition is all bad. America s competitiveness has
propelled us to win Olympic gold medals, have the top universities, be the financial center of the
world, the leader in technological innovation and medical breakthroughs, and dominate Nobel
Prize awards about 40% have gone to the good old USA. And I m not suggesting that we abandon
our competitive ways. To much good would be lost if America renounced its We re #1! ways and

Chronic Pain Research Paper
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) implies that acute pain, left
untreated, can lead to chronic pain. Chronic pain affects more Americans than diabetes, heart
disease and cancer combined and leads the cause of long term disability in America.
The first step in taking control is determining which type of pain you have.
Acute pain can be brief or last for months. Acute pain goes away after the cause has been treated.
Chronic pain is ongoing. Chronic pain lingers for months or years and can impact your physical and
emotional well being.
Here are simple ways to help manage your chronic pain:

muscle sprains and other chronic pain. Before incorporating turmeric into your daily cooking,
consult with your physician to ensure that you have no pre existing conditions that may be

Bohemian Rhapsody Analysis
With its evolving and unique sound, Bohemian Rhapsody by the British band Queen may be one
of the strangest, most inspired and least understood songs in the history of rock. Released on
October 31, 1975 in the album A Night at the Opera, Bohemian Rhapsody became very popular,
staying at the top of the UK Singles Chartfor nine weeks and by the end of January, had more than
a million copies sold. Freddie Mercury, the sole writer of this song, never disclaimed the song s
official meaning, but Brian May, the lead guitarist of the band, believes it is about his struggles in
life and how he tried to get past society s standards, for the lyrics progress through the central
character s understanding of the situations portrayed in the song.... Show more content on

The song becomes operatic, almost as if to show the importance of the situation at hand. The
character begins to plead with lyrics I m just a poor boy, nobody loves me, He s just a poor boy
from a poor family, Spare him his life from this monstrosity, Easy come easy go will you let me
go. However, those who are holding the judgement express no mercy, for then they respond with
Bismillah! No we will not let you go . The seriousness of the condition at hand is also shown by the
stern choir of voices striking the character with judgement.
The song then transitions to a hard rock sound, with the drums and guitar unleashing powerful
rhythms. This sound perfectly matches the character s reaction to their judgers, which anger and
defiance. This can be seen from the lyrics So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye, So
you think you can love me and leave me to die, Oh baby, can t do this to me baby, Just gotta get
out, just gotta get right outta here . However, this doesn t last long, for after a short powerful guitar
riff, the song shifts to a down tempo ballad. This leads to the character feeling resignation and
complacency with the lyrics Nothing really matters, anyone can see, nothing really matters...to me .
Then the song fades out with the character saying Any way the wind blows , as if they are
accepting whatever challenge they had before.
All in all, this work of art manages to be equally loved by young kids

Occupational Therapy Theory Paper
Theories are essential in occupational therapy (OT) practice as they provide a conceptual
foundation and framework for enhancing growth of clients, justifying reimbursement for care, and
validating intervention applications to family and patients (Baum, Bass, Christiansen, 2015).
Theories provide knowledge and an explanationfor how and why certain interventions would be
more beneficial than others. Theories can be used to support the understanding of a client s
symptoms and environmental impacts. The theories used in OT can be classified as models, frames
of reference, or paradigms (Baum, Bass, et al., 2015). After visiting Paxton Ministries and
interacting with several residents, I identified the following theories, models, and perspectives...

MFA Thesis Exhibition
Last week I visited the George Caleb Bingham Gallery to see an artist s work. Her name was Mary
Margaret Sandbothe and her collection of art was at the MFA Thesis Exhibition. Now, I am not one
for looking at art and being able to interpret it easily, but when I arrived to see her work I was
pleasantly surprised. I was in awe of artwork at first glance.
First, what I noticed was that the main overlook of all her pieces included same sex relationships
or couples. Furthermore, it exemplified families with same sex parents. For example, there was one
piece that had presented two dads with an African Americanchild. This shows the reality of what
the world is like today. People don t want to accept change, but she is putting it out there ... Show

One piece presents two men lying on a blanket in a park enjoying the day outside. Normally, all
couples do this. Now, the society we live in people would look at this like it was uncommon, but
slowly people are starting to accept this as the norm. The other piece shown is two men sitting at a
table with their son seemingly helping him with his homework like a happy family. Yes, she is
presenting how families do work with same sex marriages if you are open to it. At least that is
what I see in my opinion.
Lastly, she had another piece of two men looking marry while holding a newborn baby. This
could possibly mean that they had adopted or fostered a child. It s a beautiful sight because they
are so happy and blessed to have this baby in their life. Again, Sandbothe is prominently making a
statement here about our society and its view on same sex relationships.
Now, with that being said, she had many pieces presented in her work at this exhibit and I found
it very intriguing how bold she was. She is not only speaking for the LGBT community, but also
speaking to our society and how we should be more accepting of change. The world is
continuously evolving and we must not sit back and expect it to go back to the way it was. We

The And Of Public Broadcasting
Introduction
When you watch television, you re probably watching to educate yourself on what s going on
around you in today s society, to find entertainment, and stay up to date on today s latest trends.
In todays modern society people rely on the availability of information to make better decisions.
Whether as a voter, consumer or investor, Americans believe they will be able to form their own
idealistic views based on what they see in the media. However, that belief is just a fallacy. In my
opinion, viewers that believe this false pretense are unaware that a portion of mass media in the
Unites States is privately owned. In both public television and radio, the
Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) funds a portion of their revenue (the
CPB is a private, nonprofit corporation created by Congress in 1967 as apart of the government s
investment in public broad casting). On the other hand, the individuals that are aware of this
information assume and/or believe that privately owned media outlets equal access to more truth.
What s often an important ideology, but also overlooked or missed, is the relationship between the
government and the mass media, and how their relationship interjects with our views of them.
The Media Role Society
The media s role is to relay information to the public. Looking at the evidence, and the relationship
between the government and the media, you will decided if private ownership means freedom from
government ownership. The

Describe The Evolution Of The Two-Party System
The election in 1796 was the first to have two major political parties, the Federalists and the
Democratic Republicans. The Federalists believed themselves to be friends of order and good
government, while the Democratic Republicans believed themselves to be supporters of
independence, friends to equal rights, and warm advocates of free elective government. These
two parties began the system that we now use to elect new presidents. Lamentably, we now have
ended up with a system in which there is no compromise, only two parties fighting each other
continually, and where we end up with only two dissatisfactory choices. The two party system is
a system where there are only two options to vote for because only parties with a lot of people
have a chance to be noticed, other parties have too few people to get a chance to win the election.
Nowadays the two parties most people vote for are the Democrat party and the Republican party.
The Republicans ideology is American conservatism, which involves support of free market
capitalism, free enterprise, a strong national defense, and de regulation and restrictions on labor
unions. The Democrats ideology is mostly centrists an progressives, whose philosophy is of
modern liberalism which advocates social and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Media Influence On American Politics Accentuating the comical nature of the media, society strongly adheres to the opinions of influential leaders imposed by the susceptible nature of public conformity and the obscure outlying opinions of the media figures. Emphasizing societal tendencies towards conformity, the medial impact persuades public opinion on social issues. Society often finds comfort through being part of a large group, and in turn they jump on the bandwagon of others when important issues are being presented. One of the most influential mediums that media figures impact are the United States elections. By voicing their personal opinions on the Candidates such as Fox News associating with the republican candidate Donald Trump and MSNBC with Hillary Clinton, being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Weird, obscure events occur all the time in the world, and people must rely on the media the relay this information to the public. After going through the facts, the media obtains the ability to screen out any unnecessary information often leading to the event becoming extremely one sided. Often times this media propaganda can be seen throughout history often with impactful consequences such as the Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre was accentuated so much by certain political leaders like Paul Revere through propaganda that the opinions towards the British across the entirety of the colonies shifted towards hatred. In reality, the shooting had killed on a few people during a riot, but the media had exaggerated the event to be an open fire killing many Boston citizens. Media propaganda has the tendency to impactfully influence the public opinion, and Paul Revere manifested it to spark the initial beliefs of American Independence. The impactfulness of media also can be seen in the novel Brave New Worldby Aldous Huxley in which John the Savage has been self exiled to an island in order to reflect on his life. During his period of atonement, the World State media come and film him in order to exploit his savagery and primitive nature to the citizens. Being isolated from the rest of the world, the people of the World State have never seen a nonconforming individual, and by displaying John s negative attributes such as impulsivity, the World State media can influence the opinions of all the citizens. The impactfulness of media in society creates huge divisions in opinions as people adhere to different sources and believe in different facts of events. Through media s manipulation of various events, they form the opinions of the public and hold immense societal power. Often times, media propaganda is used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Analysis of Stille s Ganges Next Life Bathing in the Ganges is a religious tradition that is an integral part of daily life in India. It represents a purification of the soul, as Stille states, ...[A] river that, because of its divine origin, is pure and purifies all those faithful who immerse themselves in her, (598). However, presently, there exists a dilemma that threatens the survival of this tradition: the poor condition of the river. The river is polluted with raw sewage, human and industrial waste, the charred remains of bodies, and animal carcasses (598). In the Ganges Next Life, Alexander Stille contrasts traditional and modern values. Traditional Hindu values, yet somewhat primitive, reflect thousands of years of experience and practice. Modern values, on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (598) Nevertheless, he recognizes that environmental safety and other modern ideals cannot be avoided. Demonstrating his acceptance of technology s ubiquity, Mishra says, These things satellite television, this internet surfing are with us whether we like it or not (610). As technology advances and expands, the disparity between the two ideals becomes increasingly noticeable and unavoidable. Although modern and traditional values are very distinct, they have already begun to merge in many aspects of Indian life. For example, television, a relatively new technology, has been adapted for the traditional purpose of worshipping. Indian families set up television sets on altars and worship before them when viewing religious films. At a glance, this practice appears to be sacrilegious and almost sinful. However, they are not worshipping the technology, but rather utilizing the technology to worship their gods. Also, when celebrating the wedding anniversary of the gods Shiva and Parvati, Indians decorate shrines with flashing electric lights pulsing disco music. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Lexical Approach To English Language Teaching CHAPTER 2: REVIEW OF LITERATURE Introduction: Lexical Approach and English Language Teaching The Lexical Approach is based on the idea that language is made up of other structural elements besides what we traditionally think of as grammar. Instruction focuses on relatively fixed expressions that occur frequently in spoken language rather than on originally created sentences (Lewis, 1997a). This digest provides an overview of the methodological foundations underlying the lexical approach and the pedagogical implications. The lexical approach to foreign language teaching has received interest in recent years as an alternative to grammar based approaches. The lexical approach concentrates on developing learners proficiency with lexis, or words and word combinations. It is based on the idea that an important part of language acquisition is the ability to comprehend and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were studies done on vocabulary acquisition through Internet based instruction. Many of the studies (e.g. Al Jarf, 2007; Kaur and Hegelheimer, 2005; Smidt and Hegelheimer, 2004) showed that students learned vocabulary more effectively when they were involved incidentally or directly in vocabulary tasks and activities in the Internet based learning environment. As researchers, we also believe that vocabulary acquisition is an area where computer assisted language learning (CALL) has a particularly important role to play. Son (2001) explored CALL research on vocabulary learning. His article discussed the use of the computer for lexical skill development in terms of linking CALL with vocabulary acquisition and searching for effective ways to use CALL in vocabulary instruction. Through the literature review, the article was assured the positive effects of lexical CALL on implicit and explicit learning of vocabulary and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Cold war was primarily a conflict between the Eastern bloc and the Western bloc involving mainly economic and political actions, but no direct military action between the United Statesand the USSR. The Eastern bloc consisted of the Soviet Unionand its satellite states, and the Western bloc consisted of the United States and its NATO allies. These proxy wars were very malicious and were often occurring in Korea, Vietnam, and Angola. In addition to this war costing so many lives, this war also had a large money cost; nearly Eight trillion dollars. This shocking cost tends to take a lot of people off guard, although war is expensive, most people were expecting things one to be relatively cheap because it was not involving any military action. However, this war was full of threats, especially the threat of using nuclear weapons. In order to have an accurate threat, the United States would continuously be building nuclear weapons in case this war reached that extent. Therefore, that s where the large cost came in, because, the United States was spending about thirty five billion dollars per year on the construction of nuclear weaponry. This approximately forty five year war was a constant worldwide clash between the Soviet Communism and the American capitalism. Fortunately, after losing so many lives and so much money, it is thought that the United States finally won the Cold War. The Comparison between Psychodynamic and Humanistic Theory There are very distinct differences between Psychodynamic and Humanistic Counselling but both ultimately offer the help and guidance to discover why we act the way we do and why we make certain choices in our lives. Throughout this essay, I will endeavour to explain those major differences and you will see that despite these completely different methods of therapy, depending on what the problem maybe, they can both work very effectively in their own way. Perls did not belive in a single particular theory. He thought you should always just go with the flow and work with what you have and what is happening in the now. In the 1950 s Eric Berne began to develop his theories of Transactional Analysis. He said that verbal communication, particularly face to face, is at the centre of human social relationships and psychoanalysis. His starting point was that when two people encounter each other, one of them will speak to the other. This he called the Transaction Stimulus. The reaction from the other person he called the Transaction Response. The person sending the Stimulus is called the Agent. The person who responds is called the Respondent. Transactional Analysis became the method of examining the transaction wherein: I do something to you, and you do something back . • 9. A Rose For Boland s Fond Memory Eavan Boland s Fond Memory is a poem which is used to explore the poets past, acting as a vehicle for returning to the days of her childhood. This poem is written with the intent to confront a past memory and creates a relationship between Boland as a young girl and the woman she was when she wrote this. Through the use of literary techniques we become a part of the journey that Boland undertakes in order to go back to her childself and speak about her memories. This is a very personal poem as Boland is sharing part of her life with us. The personal element to the poem allows a relationship to be formed with the reader as she engages with our emotions. The relationship between the poet and the reader creates a stronger image of the young lonely girl that Boland is writing about. The use of imagery in Fond memory is reflective of what it was like as a young Irish girl growing up in London. The separation between Boland and the other children is represented through the negative imagery that she uses to describe them, all the children wore darned worsted, reflecting her dislike towards them. It is interesting that the same negative imagery isn t used when she describes herself, I dressed in wool as well the descriptions are separate so the reader views them as two separate identities, mirroring how Boland was viewed at the time. By emphasising the hostility that she felt as a child, Boland is also revealing that as an adult she still harbours resentment towards the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The T-34 Research Paper The tank was one of the deadliest weapons in World War 2. Over 331,000 tanks were produced during the war. Most of the countries fighting in the war had tanks, including the British, Americans, Germans, and the Soviets. All of these countries had tanks that outperformed their other tanks, and that outperformed the other countries tanks. One of these was the Soviet s T 34. The T 34 was created to replace the BT series of fast, lightweight tanks. The Soviet realized the BT s weakness in battle and requested its official replacement in 1937, two years before World War Two. The T 34 became the most produced tank in the war and is considered to be one of the best tanks in the war. Jason Belcourt, talking about the T 34, said In 1941 when Hitler launched Barbarossa, the tank was indisputably the best in the world. The T 34 was able to stop the German advancement into the Soviet Union and save the country. The T 34 had some flaws though. The sloping armor of the T 34 provided safety from the weak 40 mm guns of the Germans, but the armor made the quarters cramped and the working conditions poor. • 12. How Did Stalin Influence American Culture After World War Two, Stalin s Iron Curtain descended across Europe. This was an attempt by him to isolate and shield the Soviet Union from Western and non Soviet controlled areas. Above all, Stalin and other Soviet leaders feared influence from The United States. Their fear was quite justified, as Soviet people became incredibly curious and eager to borrow and emulate American culture. Similar fears were present in other communist Eastern European countries in the Eastern Bloc. Despite Stalin s and communist leaders attempt at isolation, Eastern European people were still able to breach the Iron Curtain and learn about Western ideas and culture. Culture in the Eastern Bloc became dominated by American taste and culture as early as the 1940s, but it wasn t until the 1970s that rock music began to dominate the scene. The influence of rock and rock in Soviet music can be seen as early as 1957. Prior to this, jazz music had been the popular form of music. Western Influence on Japanese Business Management Essay Japanese management: how the western influence and the 1990s crises have modified management practices in Japan, and in Japanese companies broadly speaking? Introduction Japan has been the second largest power in the world for several decades, now. As a quite remote island in Asia, its history and development shaped a country with its own way of thinking and behaving, and as far as we are concerned, with a great economy and a technological lead over its Asian neighbours. After the Second World War (WWII), Japan started from scratch, and its business succeeded very well, first on the domestic market and then on a world scale. Based on their original religion (Shinto), the cult of the ancestors is widespread and, in Japan, people are much more respectful of their parents than in Western countries. In the same way, decision making and socialisation processes are seen very differently, for Japanese will tend to take much time and involve many people to evolve a plan, but then will implement it directly and by themselves, with more pleasure than Westerners who are deemed to make quick and undemocratic decisions, but execute them slowly and indirectly. As a result, Japanese would be more willing to work and more productive because of their understanding of what a strategy means: politeness, team work, friendship and harmony are key features of the Japanese culture. This can be seen in the sense of community which strikes every foreigner: the individual is under represented whereas the group as a whole is always put on the foreground, hence the famous obedience and respect of Japanese people. Outcomes of WWII At the end of the Meiji era (19th and beginning of the 20th centuries), Japan had already experienced an opening and some misunderstandings with foreign countries (e.g. Perry?s crew). When coming up with the story for the script, I first created the character of Dmitriy and the story grew out of his character. A simple characterization of Dmitriy is a man struggling to free himself, whose aura of grandeur and potential for greatness is lost on his environment. However, what many high school classrooms do not address is the sub textual homosexual references made throughout the book. Specifically, in Melville s novel Moby Dick, there are several allusions to a possibly intimate relationship between Ishmael and Queequeg, as well as several sub textual references to homosexual attraction in general. The most blatant example of this is found in the interactions of Ishmael at the inn in chapters three and four. Not only do they share a bed, Ishmael claims to have never slept better in [his] life that night (Moby Dick, 64). Upon waking, Ishmael finds Queequeg s arm thrown over [him] in the most loving and affectionate manner. He even goes as far as to note: You had almost thought I had been his wife. • 29. Examples Of Racism In African Literature It is obvious to us that race is a significant theme in African Literature, and race relations in the reading that we have participated in like The prisoners and the black girl where race relations were presented in a complex manner. My ultimate goal in writing this paper is to shed light on how race has an impact on our society Globally, ways in which people acquire racial identity and also ways in which people move beyond it. I will be using the two literally pieces previously mentioned the prisoners and the black girl to help you understand how they closely relate to racism and how they moved beyond it. A perfect example of racerelations are the issues that took place Globally concerning Martin Luther King Jr. fighting for the right of his people almost similarly to the way Brillle fought in the story The prisoner who wore glasses. Another perfect example of race related issues is what happened In the United Statesof America in the 15th century. The transatlantic slave trade began and loads of Africans were being sold by their own people and placed on boats to be shipped to different parts of the Americas to be used as slaves in a white mans home. Later came the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 that was signed by Abraham Lincoln, which freed the slaves. The freed slaves depict how slaves were still severely oppressed but still jumping hurdles to survive in society. However, their was segregation where whites and blacks had their own hospitals, schools, and where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It should come as no surprise that the video game industry is not immune. Common red flags like Copyright infringement, using the likeness of others, or 1st amendment concerns, are volatile problems that can hinder the progress with any studio. Learning how to identify major issues such as these can help a company avoid legal ramifications in the long run. Three interesting cases that highlight these issues and can be used as great examples are: Tetris v. Xio, Davis/Dupree/Keller/Ferragamo v. Electronic Artsand Schwarzenegger v. Tetris Holdings, LLC, own the popular tile matching puzzle gameTetris. They found themselves in a legal battle with Xio Interactive Inc., the creators of Mino, a puzzle game of a similar look and feel. Tetris, LLC accused Xio Inc. of creating a game that was strikingly similar to their title. Xio argued that they had only copied the non protectable elements of the game and should not be held liable to any copyright infringement laws. Somebody must explain the 4000 silent graves that mark the trail of the Cherokees to their exile (Charles River Editors). On the Trail of Tears, many murders were carried out. The impact that this had on American society in the nineteenth century is little due to the fact that most of the country was white whom had more privilege and were becoming big landowners or plantation owners. The relocations were enforced and the Indians were required to move as a result of their want to remain as a nation. To these tribes, family and relation was everything, so they would rather be thrown off land than become split up. Today, the Trail of Tears is important because of the more frequent use of freedom of speech and the fights for equality from the United States citizens. The first step would have involved the counsellor to create a psychological contact with Felicia. The second step within the process would be the counsellor needs to ensure that Felicia is in a state of incongruence. Incongruence is the difference of the client s self image and actual experience. If Felicia s self image and actual experiences don t match it could lead her to feeling vulnerable and create anxiety. On the other hand, the counsellor needs to be congruent. This would mean the counsellor will be himself 100%. This will involve the counsellor being honest and transparent of who they are and not putting up a faГ§ade. The counsellor should show unconditional positive regard (UPR) to Felicia. Unconditional positive regard is the counsellor accepting and supporting the client without judging them. I will go about deducing a harmonic timeline by individually looking at each composer then will conclude with a final comparison summarizing how different harmonic elements develop with the Romantic Movement and its progression. The harmonic journey will start with Schumann s Kinderszenen, or Scenes from Childhood. This is a set of thirteen reminiscences of childhood, written during a temporary separation from Clara. The use of pedal here is later magnified in many of Brahms pieces, particularly in Rhapsody No.2. In Schumann s Frightening , in bar 21, the C major chord is followed by a tritonal harmonic leap onto a sforzando dominant seventh chord of F sharp major at beat 2. This chord, together with a rising chromatic line heralds the return of the tonic key. Schumann has reinterpreted the chord of C major as the Neapolitan chord (the flattened second) of b minor (the tonic), making the surprising tritonal leap more logical than it initially seems. The original motivic material is presented exactly as it occurred in bars 1 4 to provide an aesthetic harmonic balance to the piece. Textually, Schumann s harmony strikingly contrasts the other pieces, for instance, there are often offbeat semiquavers in the right hand creating a busier/more contrapuntal texture The next harmonic platform is in the study of Brahms devices and techniques in harmony and texture. I took 20th century Art history as well so there is always the comparison of them in my mind. Music and art appear to be two different art forms. TFSA Vs Rrsp Essay A RRSP is a Registered Retirement Savings Plan that is an account set up to save for retirement whereas a TFSA is a Tax Free Savings Account that is set up for any type of savings goal. They both differ in their own ways however, both offer tax advantages to help one reach their savings goals. First, in order to make contributions to a RRSP one needs earned income on the other hand for a TFSA one does not. Also, another key difference between the two plans are that RRSP contributions are tax deductible as you can deduct your contribution from the income you report on the tax return. A TFSA is the exact inverse, as you cannot deduct your contribution on your tax return. Furthermore, when it comes to withdrawals, both of the plans are opposite once again as TFSA withdrawals are tax free and RRSP withdrawals aren t tax free. • 50. MFA Thesis Exhibition Last week I visited the George Caleb Bingham Gallery to see an artist s work. Her name was Mary Margaret Sandbothe and her collection of art was at the MFA Thesis Exhibition. Now, I am not one for looking at art and being able to interpret it easily, but when I arrived to see her work I was pleasantly surprised. I was in awe of artwork at first glance. First, what I noticed was that the main overlook of all her pieces included same sex relationships or couples. Furthermore, it exemplified families with same sex parents. For example, there was one piece that had presented two dads with an African Americanchild. This shows the reality of what the world is like today. People don t want to accept change, but she is putting it out there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One piece presents two men lying on a blanket in a park enjoying the day outside. Normally, all couples do this. Now, the society we live in people would look at this like it was uncommon, but slowly people are starting to accept this as the norm. The other piece shown is two men sitting at a table with their son seemingly helping him with his homework like a happy family. Yes, she is presenting how families do work with same sex marriages if you are open to it. At least that is what I see in my opinion. Lastly, she had another piece of two men looking marry while holding a newborn baby. This could possibly mean that they had adopted or fostered a child. It s a beautiful sight because they are so happy and blessed to have this baby in their life. Again, Sandbothe is prominently making a statement here about our society and its view on same sex relationships. Now, with that being said, she had many pieces presented in her work at this exhibit and I found it very intriguing how bold she was. She is not only speaking for the LGBT community, but also speaking to our society and how we should be more accepting of change. The world is continuously evolving and we must not sit back and expect it to go back to the way it was. We must embrace ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. The And Of Public Broadcasting Introduction When you watch television, you re probably watching to educate yourself on what s going on around you in today s society, to find entertainment, and stay up to date on today s latest trends. In todays modern society people rely on the availability of information to make better decisions. Whether as a voter, consumer or investor, Americans believe they will be able to form their own idealistic views based on what they see in the media. However, that belief is just a fallacy. In my opinion, viewers that believe this false pretense are unaware that a portion of mass media in the Unites States is privately owned. In both public television and radio, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) funds a portion of their revenue (the CPB is a private, nonprofit corporation created by Congress in 1967 as apart of the government s investment in public broad casting). On the other hand, the individuals that are aware of this information assume and/or believe that privately owned media outlets equal access to more truth. What s often an important ideology, but also overlooked or missed, is the relationship between the government and the mass media, and how their relationship interjects with our views of them. The Media Role Society The media s role is to relay information to the public. Looking at the evidence, and the relationship between the government and the media, you will decided if private ownership means freedom from government ownership. The For Better, or ... • 53. Describe The Evolution Of The Two-Party System The election in 1796 was the first to have two major political parties, the Federalists and the Democratic Republicans. The Federalists believed themselves to be friends of order and good government, while the Democratic Republicans believed themselves to be supporters of independence, friends to equal rights, and warm advocates of free elective government. These two parties began the system that we now use to elect new presidents. Lamentably, we now have ended up with a system in which there is no compromise, only two parties fighting each other continually, and where we end up with only two dissatisfactory choices. The two party system is a system where there are only two options to vote for because only parties with a lot of people have a chance to be noticed, other parties have too few people to get a chance to win the election. Nowadays the two parties most people vote for are the Democrat party and the Republican party. The Republicans ideology is American conservatism, which involves support of free market capitalism, free enterprise, a strong national defense, and de regulation and restrictions on labor unions. The Democrats ideology is mostly centrists an progressives, whose philosophy is of modern liberalism which advocates social and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That was an aggressive goal considering it started the year with only about 190, meaning it was looking to more than double that figure in just one year. Turns out that Big Red wasn t just being overly ambitious, and is actually reaching that goal ahead of time. Speaking at MobileCon, a conference all about mobile IT, Verizon CTO Nicola Palmer said the carrier is launching LTE in a handful of markets on Oct. 18, bringing its total tally up to a whopping 417, further extending its LTE lead against rivals AT amp;T and Sprint Nextel.
