Engineering Camp Analysis
Throughout my time at EDGE camp I learned an extreme abundance of information. Not only
was it about engineering but I also learned about teamwork, leadership skills, and myself. The
two weeks that I stayed at Union was a time I won t forget and I am so glad I decided to come.
In coming here I expected to just learn about engineering and create a toy for a kid in need, but it
ended up being so much more than that. I can now differentiate the types of engineering and which
ones I like the best. This camp also helped me realize how I like the physical building and
sketching process of engineering rather than the computer components. I also didn t expect most of
the trips and tours that we went on to be intriguing, but I found myself enjoying almost all of them.
I use to think it was only about how to build mechanical objects, but there is so much more to it.
There are so many other different types that don t include mechanical parts at all. This camp has
also made me give more respect for engineers. They do so much and are such a vital part of the
world and now I am completely aware of that.
Since this is my second college camp I have visited, I already know a lot about college life.
Going to Union made me like it even more. Having a dorm like experience is so fun and

Steeltown U.S.A. was a great read! I enjoyed reading all about Youngstown and the challenges
the town had to face. Chapter 4: From Steel Town to a Nice Place to Do Time was personally
one of the best chapters in the book. It was so terribly sad to read about everything the once
successful industrialized town had later became. In only twenty short years, Youngstown had
evolved into this corrupt place; they even went as far to call it the murder capital. Once the mills
shut down, the town took a major downfall. Poverty, drugs, and crime started to replace the legacy
Youngstown once held. Before reading this book, I had no idea that the steel millclosings could

The mills were closing down because the supply for steel had greatly decreased. The town s lack
of industrialization caused other businesses to relocate, so the steel workers were not left with
many options. Also, during this time period, it was not very common for women to have a full
