Nominatives
Take a look at the following sentences. Try
to figure out the correct verb form to use.

*The sentences have noun clauses
which act as the subject.
A noun clause requires a singular verb.

*Now, take a look at the

In these sentences, remember that
the verb agrees only with the subject.
Predicate nominatives do not determine
the verb form.

Circle the subject in each sentence and underline its
verb.
1. Tungkung Langit and Alunsina
(is, are) a well-known pair in Philippine mythology.
2. The stories about the two characters (involve,
involves) the creation of the world.
3. Where the two deities came

4. Tungkung Langit, who (was,
were) a kind and industrious,
imposed order in the chaotic
primordial world.
5. On the other hand, Alunsina, who (was,
were) jealous and vain, one day sent the
breeze to spy on her husband.
