Black Womanhood In The African-American Family
In 1908, W.E.B. Dubois explored the weakness among the black family in The Negro American
Family (1908) where he claimed that slavery destructed the African American family. Over a
century later, former President Barack Obama echoed the thoughts of W.E.B. Dubois stating that
too many fathers [are] missing missing from too many lives and too many homes... in the African
American community (Miller, 2010). There are two dominant reasons today for the weakness of the
black family the mass incarceration of the black man and the killing of the black man through
police brutality, all which root from institutionalized slavery in white America. The elimination of
the black man from African American families has affected black womanhood greatly. Historians
and scholars argue that a matrifocal (mother centered) family became typical of African Americans
both during slavery and after emancipation and has been... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She uses the identity politics of recognition to uplift black womanhood. BeyoncГ© s sixth studio
album, Lemonade, released April 23, 2016, is a 56 minute narrative movie mixing music,
documentary and experimental elements (Bale, 2016) incorporated into a visual album. In
Lemonade, BeyoncГ© uses her artistry to acknowledge the duality of how Black womanhood is
positioned between the oppression of race and gender.
BeyoncГ© s Lemonade album showcases the racism, sexism, and socio cultural politics that black
women experience. Throughout the whole visual album, black women appear representing the past,
present, and future. She depicts scenes from the Southern Antebellum to present times of police
brutality. BeyoncГ© utilizes strong black women such as the mothers of Oscar Grant, Trayvon
Martin, Michael Brown, and Eric Garner in Lemonade. She also uses Serena Williams, Zendaya,
and Amandla Stenberg to portray stories of black women that the common person understands. The
stories of these women are implemented

The Existence Of A Lie-Destructive Dragon
In this world, in the presence of a lie consuming dragon, lies take the form of monsters. The size
of said monsters depend on the severity of the lie being told, and how badly the liar doesn t
want to be found out. But this doesn t apply to all dragons, however. Dragons come into existence
to fulfill the need or a strong wish of a human. A human who has seen all of their loved ones die
and firmly wishes for solace will bring about an immortal dragon. A human who has been trapped
all their life will bring about a dragon with powers of intangibility. It s not a hard concept to grasp,
really.
About a year and a half ago, as I was walking from town to town, I came across a dragon egg that
later hatched into who I now know as Efina, a short, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Walker And Avant ( 2016 ) Outlined Essay
The following concept analysis is formulated to follow an abbreviated version of what Walker
and Avant (2016) outlined. Select a Concept The concept of Pediatric Adaptation to
Hospitalization has been a topic talked about since the early sixties, if not before. When a child is
hospitalized they experience a wide variety of emotional stressors. Separation from family, stress,
isolation, anxiety, depression, fear, unfamiliar surroundings, normal routine interruption, lack of
understanding ( why do I feel this way , why is this happening to me ), pain, and continuous
stranger interaction are a few of the feelings and emotions that children experience during
hospitalization. Langford (1961) stated This increased body of knowledge about the emotional
effects of illness and hospitalization has been reflected in changes in the practices of many
pediatric hospitals and services in order to lessen the psychological hazards to their child patients .
Although the topic has been discussed, a true definition has not been formulated. Positive
adaptation will foster healing, increased comfort, less stress, and an overall increased psychosocial
wellbeing. On the other hand, negative adaptation will prolong healing, increase pain levels, foster
acting out behaviors, and increase stress which in turn effects the immune system. The ways in
which a child handles these stresses and the anxiety and tension provoked by them have been found
to be related to a number of factors: the

Penetration Testing For A Company
Penetration Testing Presentation Briefing
Introduction Penetration Testing (Pen testing) is an important security practice that must be
performed to check the standing of a company Information System (IS) Confidentiality, Integrity,

continuity and productivity. This briefing discusses issues related to Pen testing beginning with
overview. Next its value to the company is addressed. Then some of the security tests it contains is
mentioned. Lastly, what benefits will its results provide to the company. Saudi Technic is glad to

Learning from the mistakes of other to prevent future disasters is a very wise decision to make.
Pen testing is synonymous to ethical hacker but requiring written permission, the word hacker
has a negative feel to it but the word ethical is positive because the ethical hacker goal, once
given the green light, is to legally discover the sources of security holes that cause the systems
and networks to be breached to report them and fix them to prevent perpetrators from attacking
and harming the systems. An ethical hacker will require the permission of a company to legally
carry out pen testing on its systems to help them secure it better. In common terms he/she can be
thought of as an inspector that is trying to check whether a certain system is performing as it
should by finding out things that can harm or damage it. You might think But, we already have
IT staff and network/system administrators who are already doing that job! That is not true for
two reasons, the first being in order to secure systems and networks an expert, consultant, or
professional in the field is required to conduct the job. The other reason is IT staff and
administrators also need some kind of auditing and profiling which is part of pen testing to verify
how well they are doing their job in keeping systems compliance with security policies. The steps
that will be done in pen testing to simulate

The Detrimental Effect of War on People Essay example
War has a detrimental effect on the individual as the idea of killing another could be horrific to
anyone; though in the context of war, it was expected that soldiers were to kill another to defend
and honour their country. War can affect the individual mentally, physically and emotionally,
causing major distress and discomfort with, not only how they see themselves, but how they see
war. Regeneration was written by Pat Barker in 1991 and was inspired by her grandfather who had
been bayoneted in the war; she was able to see the scars he had when he washed in the sink. His
war experiences had affected her understanding of the war in a more immediate and personal way.
Unlike Barker, R C Sherriff (a play writer and an ex officer in the East... Show more content on

Both the novel and the play look at this idea, with two very different views. In Regeneration,
several characters are affected by the war in this way; for example Anderson has a dream which
makes him feel emasculated, in which [his] father in law came towards [him], waving a big
stick. It had a snake wound round it. and A pair of lady s corsets. [orderlies and his father in law]
fastened them round [his] arms and tied the laces . Barker suggests that Anderson s unconscious
mind is revealing a fear of no longer being seen as a man, perhaps a result of allowing his
emotions to get the better of him causing him to have a breakdown. There was a strong belief in
the early 1900 s, that men should not display emotions as this was considered to be a feminine
trait. In Victorian times, masculinity was seen as a male being: courageous; enduring;
protecting of the weak; fit and well developed physically. A stereotypical assumption was that
men had to develop their body to be able to educate their minds, though the only thing they
weren t developing, according to E.M. Forster, was an undeveloped heart not a cold one . It is
likely that this caused the stigma that the men had at the time of the war, men being afraid to put
across their feelings and emotions because it was seen as wrong by them from a young age. This
is supported by what Forster also wrote For it is not that the Englishman can t feel it is that he is

Analysis Of Captain John Tavares
Islanders fans have been desiring a true first line for some time now. To be more specific, a true
first line winger to play with captain John Tavares.
Last season, it wasn t quite good enough for some that Josh Bailey combined with Tavares and
rapidly improving Anders Lee to forge a line that combined for 75 goals, 31% of the team s
overall production, and 174 points. This year, through 13 games, it s even higher at 48%.

The talk in the off season was that Jordan Eberle was going to slide into that spot on the right wing
and Bailey would never put up the same numbers without the captain to pad his statistics. Well,
Bailey did just fine on his own, producing seven points in 8 ВЅ games prior to the reunion. And
Eberle has looked fantastic on his own as well, combining with up and coming Mathew Barzal and
a rejuvenated Andrew Ladd to form a powerful second unit.
Sometimes, you just mesh well with certain guys. Obviously, when you got Johnny (Tavares)
down the middle, he s such a threat at all times and Anders brings a great element to the line,
doing all the dirty work. Bailey said when I asked him about the remarkable chemistry. I think it
just works. It s been fun to be back with those guys and we hope to continue this success .

Unfortunately, it also is highly unattainable and instills unrealistic goals in girls minds.
According to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, there are
up to 24 million people suffering from eating disorders and 86% of those are under the age of 20
(anad.org). That being said, negative adverse effects are often the results of our world placing
the upmost importance on body image. At Radboud University, Doeschka Anschutz and Rutger
Engels conducted an experiment designed to test the effects of playing with thin dolls on body
image and food intake in 6 10 year old girls. After splitting the girls into three different groups
where they either played with a thin doll, an average sized doll or a slightly oversized doll, as
seen in figure one, the results yielded that indeed there were significant differences between the
girls body image and food intake which was completely dependent on which doll they played with
(Anschutz, Engels 625). For example, a girl that played with the thinnest doll, the Barbie Doll,
consumed the least amount of food following playtime when girls that played with either the
average sized doll or even slightly larger doll consumed significantly more food. This experiment
explicitly highlights the unknown dangers associated with playing with Barbie Dolls at a young
age. Immediately the doll caused young girls to see themselves as too big or

Another case that was happened also in one of our hospital in Saudi Arabia about the importance
of secure electronic communication. We do have a kind of electronic system called Quadra met
pretty similar to patients file with all information about patients. This system access doesn t offer
for students, its only for staff nurses; however, student nurse ask one of her friend who was a RN
to use Rn s access to the Quadra met system. The student accidently checked the name of one of her
family member who has AIDS. This act from Rn leaded to many bad outcomes in the student s
future in nursing school and with her family relationship. It is important to increase the awareness
about this ethics code to protect nurses from any inappropriate action could be done later on. My
job as an advanced nurse is to apply code of ethics by recommend health institutions to enforce all
nurses and nursing students in attending code of ethics courses and workshop to enhance their
knowledge in ethics. In addition, Participants in research have the right for protecting them from
any violates by researchers. Some governmental hospitals in Saudi Arabia may enforce their
patients to sign for their paperwork to be part from clinical research. Although some patients don t
want to participate in the clinical research, they still need to sign on that form to receive the care
from the hospital. Personally, I think this kinds of hospital do not respect patient s autonomy even

Violence And Its Effect On Society
Introduction The presence of violence is all around us; embedded in our everyday lives. Such
acts may be masked and subtle; while others are exposed and evident. One thing, however, is
certain, a single act of violence creates a rippling effect of repercussions. The use of violence can
often leave much longer lasting residues of violence which return again in the future (Brand
Jacobsen, 2005, p. 12). This cycle of malice and destruction must end. Thus, where does one
begin to initiate change? Awareness is key in the stand against violence. For I cannot solve the
problem if I am incognizant of it preying in plain sight. Moreover, claims of ignorance and
partial justification are not acceptable excuses to dismiss or ignore the veracity of violence
among us. I believe just as violence can propagate from one act, so can acts of peace. Reflection
I am guilty of turning a blind eye in the face of violence (structural and cultural). I have walked
away and dismissed it in my mind because to acknowledge it makes it real. And once it becomes
real, I have to do something about it. By nature, I am a very anxious person. As such, I am
uncomfortable with uncharted waters and conflict. I do not instigate or involve myself in conflict
to keep my stress level at a minimum. Therefore, I adamantly avoid situations with a propensity
for violence at all costs. Until this class, I was uninformed of the various forms of violence with
the exception of direct violence. However, I believe the

Life Of Pi Science Vs Religion
Yann Martel s Life of Pi is the story of a young man who survives a painful, terrifying shipwreck
and months in a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. The book describes Piscine
(Pi) Patel s life and harrowing journeys after the shipwreck that took the lives of many people
immigrating to Canada, including his own mother and countless animals from the family s zoo. Pi
must survive on a small lifeboat with a hungry predator. This journey of 227 days changes the way
he sees the world, and it just might change the reader s view too. This is a novelthat will make you

Faith and science, two vastly different perspectives on the world, coexist throughout the book in a
delicate balance. This novel of literary merit is filled with wonder. It has an aspect of purity that
shows off a fresh look at our human traits, about religious topics, zoos and the wild, and the
possibility of freedom. One thing that stood out about this novel is the way it perfectly blends
religion and science, and then puts the two to the ultimate test in a treacherous survival situation.

Lab Report 1
Abstract
The objective of this lab was to observe prepared bacterial cells and to observe and describe the
primary features of eukaryotic cells. Also, we investigated the effect of concentration gradient and
temperature on the rate of osmosis in an artificial system. Finally, we investigated the effect of
solute concentration on the tonicity of cells in plant tissue and Elodea. The purpose of our
experiments was to find out whether the effect of concentration gradient on the rate of osmosis
had a greater effect than temperature on the rate of osmosis. The purpose of the Elodea experiment
was to see if a five percent solution of sodium chloride or distilled water effected the structure of
the Elodea.
To observe the primary features of a eukaryotic cell we used a compound microscope. We tested
the effect concentration gradients had on the rate of osmosis two ways: with potato tissue and
with dialysis tubes. We used potato slices, paper towels, bowls, sodium chloride (at different
concentration levels), and a scale to test potato tissue. We used dialysis tubing, sucrose solution
(10% and 40% concentration gradients), plastic clips, bags, distilled water, and a scale to test the
rate of osmosis with dialysis tubes. To test the solute concentration on the tonicity of cells in plant
tissue and Elodea, we used Elodea, water, sodium chloride solution, tap water, a coverslip, and

Physics Behind Modern 4 Stroke Engines Essay
We ve all seen them before, the mysterious chunks of metal under the hoods of our cars. They start
when we turn the key and take us where we want to go. But how does an engine work? Internal
combustion engines are a very important part of everyday life. We use them in our cars, trucks,
airplanes. boats, snowmachines, 4 wheelers, and heavy machinery. These pages will help
familiarize you with the basic concepts of how an engine works, an understanding of engine output,
and some information on how forced induction or boost increases power output.

The chemical equation is as follows.
2 C8H18 (gas) + 25 O2 = 16 CO2 + 18H2O
This equation is representative of a stoichiometric air fuel ratio (14.7:1). However under normal
driving conditions an engine will encounter lean conditions when cruising on the highway (better
milage) and rich conditions when accelerating (better power). The lean condition results in oxide
and harmful nitrogen compound production. Rich conditions result in carbon monoxide production.
For this reason a catalytic converter is used on most larger engines.
The catalyst material in a cat is in a wire mesh or honeycomb. This allows a high surface area to be
exposed to the passing exhaust gasses. The catalyst (typically platinum) converts the harmfull
nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide into nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. Catalytic
converters work best when warm (as the reaction rate increases with temperature) so some car
manufacturers are putting pre cats in the exhaust manifold to convert the gasses while the exhaust
system is still warming up.
That covers the basic function of an engine fron intake to exhaust. Next we will explore the
relationship of Horsepower vs Torque.
Engine output is measured in two ways. The first is a direct measurement of engine output: Torque.
Torque is defined as the amount of mass that can be lifted a certain distance from the center of

Compare And Contrast The Whiskey Rebellion And Daniel Shays
Destiny Manston per.4 Dept, Taxes, and Daniel Shays Daniel Shays Rebellion took place during
the time of America s post war depression that from 1784 1787. The rebellion fits into the theme
of culture and society . The confederation had an enormous debt that had built up during the
Revolutionary War. Congress showed its weakness that weighed heavily on debtors and having
no power to tax. The confederation could only make requisition on the states but even then could
only receive one sixth of the money. Robert Morris and his Philadelphia allies had an idea for a
centralized government after the flaws found in the Articles of Confederation. Because the states
also had post war dept, they had to rely on taxation to get payed back. The increase of taxation
caused Nationalists to became outraged toward the government who felt that they were being
treated unfairly (and in some cases felt that the government was being tyrannical). The burdened
farmers demanded paper money to fulfill the obligations. The effect of the increased burdens of
debt and taxation caused farmers to riot periodically in various parts of New England in the late
1700s. The Dissidents from Connecticut Valley and Berkshire Massachusetts rallied behind Daniel
Shay who was a former captain of the Continental army. An example of something similar
happening was the Whiskey Rebellion. Both revolts include an anarchy that called for the

Investigating The Effect Of Ligand On The TFT Properties...
To investigate the effect of ligand on the TFT properties, we focused on the In2O3 NCs films
cured at 150 В°C. Both the ligand molecules OA and BET were conserved on the NCs surface in
the TFT devices at a curing temperature of 150 В°C. The TGA curves confirmed no weight loss
at 150 В°C (Figure. 4). Moreover, the FTIR spectrum of the thin films cured at 150 В°C also
supported the existence of the ligand molecules OA and BET with high intensity peaks of the
alkyl group Csp3 H and carboxylate group COO (Figures 5(a) and 5(b)). Therefore, The Вµ
increased after the ligand exchange process because of the decrease ligand lengthfrom OA (1.97 nm)

Table 1. TFT characteristics of the In2O3 OA NCs and In2O3 BET NCs thin films annealed at
different temperatures.
The Вµ of In2O3 OA NC and In2O3 BET NC thin films increased by 2 4 orders of magnitude
with increasing annealing temperatures from 150 В°C to 350 В°C, at which the OA or BET
ligands decomposed as discussed in the TGA (Figure 4) and FTIR results (Figures 5(a) and 5(b)).
Specially, the highest mobility obtained in this study are 4.1 cm2V 1s 1 for the In2O3 BET NC
TFT annealed at 350 В°C. This can be explained by thermal decomposition of the organic ligands
OA or BET on the NC surface, decreasing the d between the neighboring nanocrystals with
increasing annealing temperatures [15]. This was further supported by investigating the crystalline
domain sizes of the NCs from the XRD pattern of the thin films (in the supplementary information).
The crystalline domain sizes were not significantly affected by the annealing temperature, indicating
that the In2O3 NC thin films still consisted of an assembly of the single crystalline NCs [15].
Temperature dependence of In2O3 NC TFT devices To know the charge transport mechanism, the
relationship between the mobility and temperature was investigated. The temperature dependence
of the mobility takes the general form

Abstract
I was a sophomore in High School in New Haven , Michigan when In school I decided to walk
home and skip school, my house was empty at the time so I decided to go into my room and
take a nap and that s when it happened for the very first time. I had awakened and I felt this
heavy weight on my body and another feeling that I can only describe as if someone is lying on
top of me, forcing me down (hence holding my whole body down) holding my lips and eyelids
shut. I could hear though. This lasted for about 10 seconds. During these 10 seconds all sorts of
thoughts started running through my mind questioning the reality of this phenomenon and even

Reflection On Math
Math has many different categories within itself and for this project, we had to observe and solve
problems on certain college placement tests. There were many college placement tests to chooses
from but I wanted to choose the college I want to go to and the test that I wanted to answer. I chose
the Monmouth Mathematics Placement Test and Barton College Practice
Placement Test. For each one, we had to categorize how many questions were in each type of math
whether it was algebra, geometry, or calculus. The Barton test had 64 geometry problems and 16
trigonometry problems while the Monmouth test had 50 problems which were all algebra.
I answered the Barton test because I liked the different variety of algebra problems it was
consisted of. The Monmouth test I will do at a future date because that is where I wanna go and
it will help me practice math and help me pass their placement test. I was actually surprised
about both of their tests because I thought they were gonna be a lot harder. Most of the problems
seemed like Algebra 1 and I believe I have excelled in that since freshman year. They both had
problems on their tests that were very easy and I did them fast and efficiently. A couple problems
were hard since I haven t had a refresher on that section of trigonometry, but if I studied, I would
have easily gotten them right. I felt confident with these tests because even if i had only gotten a
couple wrong, I would have still easily passed. Also, it was even easier since

Research Paper On Aztecs
We ve all learnt about First Nations, Medieval Times, and the Explorers, etc. One thing we don t
learn as much about in school are the Incas, Aztecs, and Mayans. Just like any other unit we learn

Symbolism In Rip Van Winkle
Washington Irving Rip Van Winkle, a short story written by Washington Irving, is set in the
Dutch culture of pre Revolutionary war in New York and is based on a German folktale. Rip is
a farmer that goes into the Kaatskill mountains to get away from his wife but ends up drinking a
strange liquor, falls asleep, wakes up 20 years later to find out that the world around him has
changed dramatically including the death of his wife and his children growing up. In the story of

Rip, much like America during this period, was having trouble finding his identity throughout
the story and he finally finds it at the end of the story when his daughter finds him and takes him

freedom (Pierce). Washington Irving also included mythical, supernatural, and Gothic elements
into his short story of Rip Van Winkle. We first begin to see this when describing the mountains,

When Rip hears his name being echoed in the woods but can see nothing but a crow winging its

trickster in narrative literature. While Rip s name is being called out for the second time, Wolf
bristled up his back, and giving a low growl, skulked to his master s side, looking fearfully down

With the goal of ensuring that all preschools in California offer highquality programs, the California
Department of Education collaborated with leading early childhood educators, researchers,
advocates, and parents to develop Volume 2 of the preschool learning foundations. The foundations
outline key knowlВ edge and skills that most children can achieve when provided with the kinds of
interactions, instruction, and environments shown by research to promote early learning and
developВ ment. Volume 2 focuses on three domains: visual and performing arts, physical
development, and health. These domains often receive less attention than some of the other
domains, but they are equally important for preschool children s overall learning and development.
As research that is summarized in this volume indicates, physical v vi exercise and healthy routines
and nutritional choices set the stage for lifelong healthy habits. The recent NAEYC report
underscores the need for children to play outside, use their large muscles, and engage in vigorous
physical activities every day. Of course, the visual and performing arts fuel both preschool children

development, cognitive development, and social emotional development. I believe that these

a) Revenues are inflows of assets or settlements of liabilities or both. Revenues come from
activities of the entity s central operations. Gains are increases in net assets and from peripheral
or incidental transactions of an entity. The difference between gains and revenues depend to a
great extent on the typical activities of a company. For example, when McDonald s sells a
hamburger, it records the selling price as revenue. However, when Mc Donald s sells land, it
records any excess of the selling price over book value as a gain. b) In cash basis accounting,

William Faulkner s The Golden Compass
The Golden Compass is a fantasy book of a series, called His Dark Materials. This is a book for
adolescents and teenagers. Some of the material would be hard for a younger minor to
understand. Adolescents and teens would find it more captivating as they can relate to
experiences and thoughts of the main character. Adults could be interested in this story with the
fantasy twist, but would not really understand as a younger audience would. I very much enjoyed
reading it. The characters were concrete. The fantasy of it was dazzling, at times scary, but still
alluring. Yet, at times, it was hard to follow. The book had shown me more that people are not
always what they seem and to trust your instincts. In the story, we are mainly from the perspective
of an adolescent child named Lyra who grew up in a college, known as Jordan. In this fiction, there
are witches; polar bears that are called ice bears, but the ice bears are like humans; Gobblers that

John Locke s Separation Of Personal Identity
Locke s argument for the identity of person (spiritual) and the identity of man (material) is not
sufficient. However, the distinction Locke made is based on its ontological thinking and does have
a practical significance. In my opinion, the problem of identity is not only an extension of
ontology, but also have a practical significance based on the issue arose by the separation of
identity, that it is unreasonable to talk about identity without any one of the two (spiritual or
material).
Locke argues that the identity of people does not equal the identity of man, that with the soul
alone, it is not possible to form the same person. To take further step of this argument, Locke
provides the example of the the Prince and the Cobbler. Adding the Prince s soul into the
Cobbler s body, and therefore the Cobbler s body is now having the the Prince s soul, and further
more that the Cobbler s body is now having the Prince s personal identity. However, people will
not regard the Cobbler as the Prince, for that people are inseparable from the body. Therefore, in
such circumstances, Locke believes that people should conclude from this example that the body
should be the one to determine whether one is the same person (Locke, 517 518).
In this example, Locke wants to establish concepts of the soul (or more ... Show more content on

On the one hand, personal identity is the identity of body organization (the identity of man). On the

combination of the two makes a whole personal identity. Moreover, to conclude from the Prince and
the Cobbler s example, Locke pays more attention to the identity of the body. Whereas under the
guidance of this concept, it is not difficult to understand the reason Locke has separated the identity
of person from the identity of man, that these two belong to two different entities: the material and

Claddagh Ring Research Paper
How the Claddagh Ring is Used When I began to think about this project I thought about things
that I use all the time. My Claddagh Ring came to mind since it is something that I never take
off and is something that I know many people wear. I also began to think about the reason that I
wear the ring. I thought about why other people wear the ring and the memories attacked to it. I
also began to think about how it is marketed to people. The main points that I found were that the
ring is mostly worn by Irish Americans and seen as a connection to that heritage and is marketed
as so, but that there are also people who do not have and ancestors who are Irish, but wear the ring.
A Claddagh Ring is seen as a symbol of love, friendship and loyalty. The ring originates from the
village of Claddagh which is located in County Galway. The story behind how Claddagh Rings
came about having many different sides. The ring design that most people know, the two hands

design being used before then. No ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Conflict in Daniel Ridgway KnightВґs Paintings
Daniel Ridgway Knight was an odd American artist who loved to paint relaxed French peasants in
luscious landscapes. Ironically, he lived during a stressful time when the Industrial Revolution
displaced numerous farmers and polluted the environment. He seemed to ignore the harsh truth and
shut himself in his imaginary serene world. For instance, In the Premier Chagrin, translated as The
First Grief, Knight paints two healthy girls conversing on a stonewall in front of gorgeous fields. At
first, it appears as merely a pretty painting that is nicely contrasted to show depth and realism.
Yet, with a closer look, this contrast in the colors and lines of the landscape and the figures
creates tension to suggest the painter s conflict between longing for serene freedom and feeling
trapped within the stiff society. Though the viewers focus first on the centered figures, it is easier
to first analyze the surrounding settings to understand them. The stone wall foreground and the
open fields of the background each embodies one of the girl s thoughts. The back landscape is
filled with warm, airy colors of blue and orange, as if it were under a bright sun. On the other hand,
the foreground s stone wallsand concrete floor has dark, cold, shadowy, earthy colors that seem to
appear as if under a stormy cloud. The sunny land suggests free, pure, spacious land previous to the
industrialization. Yet, the darkened foreground due to the overcasting shadows resemble the
currently dirty,

Categorical Imperative Essay
Having argued for the view that hypothetical imperatives are wrong, I now wish to consider rival
views. The other imperative that Kant talks about is the categorical imperative; wish is known
to be the right one. Categorical, or unqualified, imperatives are the right kind of imperatives,
because they show proper recognition of the imperial status of moral obligation (pg. 128). Kant
named it, categorical imperatives (CI), which according to Kant is a strategy for control of
morality in any course of movement. The CI consists of a couple steps that I will explain below:
First step is to find a maxim, which is also known to be the general rule. Meaning, say you were
in the spirit to help someone who was in need. The maxim would be to help the person, but to
have no load of weight on your shoulders by helping them. The second step consists to see if the
maxim affects everyone. If the steps can be made available, then we obtain the maxim, and it is
considered to be moral. If they are not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
129). The core of this concoction of the CI is the desire of a rebuttal, in which has been debated
in what Kant had in mind. The first law is logical contradiction, where the given movement would
clearly be unimaginable. Secondly, Kant might have meant it to be teleological contradiction.
Teleological contradiction is where the top most couldn t be able to work in a functioning
manner lawfully in a well regulated system of nature. The third one Kant mentioned was the
practical contradiction, where my activity wouldn t be affective in trying to achieve motivation, if
everyone wanted to use if for that same purpose. Kant illustrates how the CI principle of the law
of nature works by applying it to each of these maxims (pg.130). Not only does Kant talk about the
principles of nature and the CI, but he also explains what a lying promise

Funerals In Ancient Roman Funerals
During all parts of the existence of Rome, burials and funerals were extremely important, even more
so than weddings. The Romans believed that without a proper burial, a spirit would cause
unhappiness for those living. While rites varied throughout different periods, traditions remained
vastly, and always had the same importance. Funeralceremonies were extremely elaborate,
especially for upper class citizens. Funerals had five parts in Ancient Rome; the procession, the
cremationand burial, the eulogy, the feast, and the commemoration. Ceremonies began closely
after death, as soon as all necessary preparations were made. At the home, the deceased s body
would be washed with warm water and then anointed. If the deceased person had held office, a
wax impression of his features would be taken. Next, the body would be dressed in in a toga
with all the regalia of the rank he was allowed to wear. Incense would be burned and pine woul
dbe places outside the door to signify death in the house. In early and late times, when burial was
more popular than cremation, a coing would be placed in between the teeth of the deceased, as
payment for Charon, the ferryman of the underworld. These rites were simplified in poorer
funerals, as well as done by a family member. However, for the rich, an undertaker, or designator,
would do so().
The funeral procession took up the bulk of the ceremony, and stretched from the deceased s home
all the way to their grave. Graves were not allowed to be

Advantage And Disadvantages Of Cardanol
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES
Recently developed wide range of innovative monomers and prepolymers starting from cardanol, a
renewable and low cost industrial grade oil obtained by vacuum distillation of Cashew nut shell

nut has a shell of about 3.2 mm thickness inside which is a soft honeycomb structure containing a

In the search for the cost effective modern materials, CNSL and its products have a significant role

The New Religious Movement Of Scientology
Introduction
Throughout history, all religions have had their beginning. Religion itself has the ability to
influence and shape its followers and the world. Whether religions stem from an established
religion or a new religion, both are defined as new religious movements (NRMs). These new
religious movements can take a scientific approach to religion, such as Scientology, referred to as a
client cult where services are provided or branch off from an established religion like Christianity
as did Mormonism with its teachings based upon the Holy Bible and The Book of Mormon.
(Fisher, 2014, 459, 465) With various NRMs emerging including Scientology and Mormonism, will
they endure and continue to grow, attracting future generations to their particular religion? Their
similarities and differences will be examined.
Scientology and Mormon Similarities
The new religious movement of Scientology is based upon the teachings and writings of Ron L.
Hubbard, an author and philosopher. (Fisher, 2014, p. 459) Similarly, Mormonism also has an
original founder, Joseph Smith, who discovered golden plates on a dig which Smith translated into
The Book of Mormon. (Fisher, 2014, p. 465) Much is not known about the in depth religious
beliefs of these NRMs as both are secretive with those who investigate their practices and
discourage members from sharing information with others outside their faith as portrayed in the
media. However, it could be said that these new religious movements

Losing one s hair is one of the many things that makes chemotherapy difficult. In fact, it is

Hair loss is an outward sign that one is sick. When many people lose their hair, they feel as though

Descriptive Essay On Fitness
Chillin with Dillon As I knocked on the heavy, black door to our local fitness center, I stood and
waited as a woman put down her dumb bells and made her way over to the door to let me in. The
moment I entered the gym I immediately noticed the smell of rubber mats and disinfectant spray.
I sat quietly in the single black chair placed by the door, watching a few people silently do their
workouts, as I waited for Jess Dillon to be done with her last client of the day so we could talk.
Soon, a small, petite woman, who seemed no taller than 5 3 walked out of the back room wearing
black workout pants along with a light pink tank top. She had her short, dark hair up in a
ponytail and met my gaze with a soft smile. I immediately recognized her as Jess and followed
her out of the gym. We walked through a brown door placed on the far west side of the fitness
center which led to the lobby area outside of her private lessons studio. It was clean and had a
calming aroma. There was a single wooden table with four matching chairs placed around it. Jess
sat down very comfortably on the far side of a table, talking with ease from the very beginning.
Jess is an outstanding woman in our small community due to her hard worth ethic, belief in others,
and confidence to overcome any obstacle she faces. Jess wasted no time as she began to explain
everything she was active in throughout our community. The small town she has grown to love
provided her with the opportunity to be the President of

Captain Jack Sparrow Research Paper
Ever since I was a child, I ve been fascinated by pirates, whether it was Captain Hook or Captain
Jack Sparrow. Little did I know that one day I would be like one. When I was a child, I didn t
realize that I was different. I would go around school and the community essentially only seeing
through my right eye. I didn t know I was any different because that s all I knew. If I saw double
vision or didn t see color, I thought that was what everyone else saw. In life, we take so much for
granted. One year for Halloween I was so excited to dress up as a pirate. I wore an eye patch on
my left eye and believed I was in another land. As I was traveling through the water to find
treasures, my mother interrupted my journey. She asked me why I wasn t wearing the patch on the
other eye because that s where most pirates wear it. I switched the patch and that s when I realized
there was something wrong.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Did they know I had bad vision in one eye or I that couldn t see that much color or sometimes
saw double? Did they think I was different? This made me very observant of others. I went to the
eye doctor to see what could be done. The doctor told me to wear an eyepatch on my good eye to
strengthen my bad eye. I was just in 5th grade and didn t think it would help, so I fought against
it. If my dad said to wear the patch and read I would disobey him. I would argue, go upstairs, and
just read with no patch. I guess I was like most kids. I thought I knew everything, and therefore
ignored the good intentions of the people who cared about

Essay On Parathas
I recall my visit to Delhi, the glorious capital of India, when I was eight years old. The rich
heritage of the city and the bustling atmosphere of areas such as Chandni Chowk1 seemed to
overwhelm me. And it was in Chandni Chowk where I discovered my favourite dish. I vaguely
have a memory of my mother holding my hand and getting me past crowds to a street filled with
aromas of different varieties of the same food. Small stalls filled the tiny pockets of space
available in the street and pans of oil and ghee2 flew in the air along with a blend of vegetables
stuffed in a sort of flatbread. Infactuated by its smell, I curiously asked my mother what it was that
got my attention. Parathas*, answered my mother. This was the Parathe Wali Gali3, one of the most
famous food attractions in India, and arguably, the headquarters to the paratha, one of India s
standout traditional dishes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you know a die hard Paratha person, he or she will be quick to point out that it is the
smoothness and the compactness of the dish that makes it worth eating. This is all because of the
Punjabis, the creators of the dish, who featured the Paratha with an excess of ghee and oil that
solidifies the conventional atta7 and gives the Paratha its ability to boost people s energy levels
(no wonder some reckon that the word Paratha was a combination of the words parat8 and atta ,
literally making it layers of cooked dough). The Paratha can do with a few stuffings, that have to
be carefully mashed and filled between the layers help the Paratha preserve its hard looking shape.
The dough of the Paratha is capped off by adding a pinch of salt to the fatty mixture for taste, and
further kneading will do the

Is Blanche A Likeable Character
A Street Car Named Desire Is Blanche a likeable character? It is an interesting question. Her past
is less than desirable: A husband who has committed suicide, countless sexual encounters with
men who wanted her for one reason and one reason only, a sense of utter loneliness, and a very
distinct belief that she is better than all others around her. Blanche heads to visit Stella and
Stanley in an effort to start a new, and cleanse herself of the past; when in fact what she finds is
much worse than the ghosts of her past. In the first scenes, Blanche is very unlikable and is
portrayed as a jealous sister, who can t be happy for anyone. It is hard to feel sympathetic to
Blanche; yet easy to feel sympathetic for everyone but her, due to her treatment... Show more

Blanche has just lost her last chance to be stable financially, emotionally and physically. The
reader can most likely relate on some level with a loss of something once loved. The most
shocking parts of the play take place in the last few scenes when Stanley takes out the ultimate
aggression and abuse of power on Blanche; he rapes her while her sister is in labor with his child.
This is a very hard concept to grasp. How could Stanley be so evil? Have so much hate? Do this
to Blanche, Stella and his son? These are all questions the reader may ask themselves; while
most likely having sympathy for Blanche after experiencing such a violent act. It is in the last
scene when Blanche is torn down repeatedly; here she may receive even more sympathy.
Blanche has told Stella of what Stanley did to her, but Stella does not believe her. Blanche s
behavior toward the poker players and during her bath reflects the way being raped by Stanley has
scarred her. In the beginning of the play, Blanche craves the attention of the poker players. By its
end, she wants to be invisible and hopes they won t notice her. Blanche spends much of Scene
Eleven in the bath; as she has done this many times before, this time was different. Blanche was
attempting to wash away Stanley s recent violation rather than her past sexual

Youth Environmental Stewardship Paper
Introduction
The Youth Environmental Stewardship program is a one of the programs of Rural Action, in which
students learn diverse nature and its ecosystem directly through the camp. According to Browne,
Garst, and Bialeschki (2011), environmental stewardship, in general, is a multisided idea to make
people consider the environment with eco friendly beliefs (p.74). Also, they mentioned (2011) that
environmental experiences in childhood strongly influence and even determine their attitudes
toward nature (p.74). In the program, Rural Action manages two types of weekly camp for
children every summer with Sunday Creek Watershed Group and Monday Creek Restoration
Project. In this paper, I am going to practice SWOT analysis of the program. In particular, ... Show

It is unpredictable nature. It influences entire program because they are primarily going to camp. At
first, the program is always side by side with the possibility of unfavorable weather. Brown, Garst,
and Bialeschki (2011) mentioned that given the dynamic and unpredictable nature of the camp,
camp administrators often struggle to implement camp activities precisely as planned (p. 81). For
example, when they have planned to explore watershed but had flood in the day before the camp,
they need to avoid it because they must ensure the safety of all the participants. As they utilize ever
changing nature as teaching materials, it is inevitable to confront with furious nature. This impacts
their limited time negatively. Furthermore, when things come to the worst, they need to cancel the
camp unless they can come up with the alternative that ensure their safety and outcomes. In
particular, since the weather around the mountain is likely to vary, it is necessary to pay close
attention to it. Thus, unpredictable weather influences harmfully their activities

The Breakfast Club And Teen Identity

The Breakfast Club and Teen Identity
The movie The Breakfast Club takes viewers on a comedic tour of the ups and downs of
adolescence. The Breakfast Club, directed by John Hughes, focuses on the events that unfold
between five very different high school students during a Saturday detention. Even though the
movie was shot in the 1980 s the characters portrayal is still relatable in a way to a lot of people
today. Director John Hughes takes us on a comedic ride with what seems like another typical teen
movie while still portraying a few life lessons along the way and exposing some truths behind
stereotyping. Anyone who has ever been a high school student can probably find some way to
relate to the characters in the film. The movie revolves around 5 students who for various
reasons have been sent to Saturday detention by principle Vernon. The principle asks each of the
students to write a one page paper on who they think they are. As the day progresses, we see the
teens begin to bond with each other and find out about each other and themselves. The film
begins by introducing each of the five characters. John Hughes gives us five common archetypes
with each of his characters including: a jock, a popular princess, a geek, a criminal, and basket
case. These generic characters make it easier for the audience to relate to one of the characters in
the film. Andy, the jock, is the generic high school athlete, or so it seems.

To tackle this, it undertook the following steps:
1.In order to gain more market share, Kellogg s decided to launch two highly successful brands
internationally Chocos in 1996 and Frosties in 1997 in India. Both of the brands were very
successful and sales picked up significantly. It also started providing its offering in retail packs of
different sizes. This enabled the company to cater the needs of different individuals.
2.Leveraging on the success of Chocos that the company decided to expand the brand by foraying
in to the cereal biscuit area with the launch of Chocos Cereal Biscuits. Kellogg s started
concentrating on establishing its brand name in the market irrespective of the off take. The focus
was entirely on being present and visible on the retail shelves with a wide range of products.
3.Kellogg s are realized that in order to sell more they had to adopt the local flavor and hence this
led to the total Indianization of its flavors in future. This resulted in the launch of the Mazza line of
products in August, 1998 in three local flavors Mango Elaichi, Coconut Kesar and Rose after one
year extensive research to study consumer patterns in India. These lines were however discontinued

Dubois explored the weakness among the black family in The Negro American Family (1908) where he claimed that slavery destructed the African American family. Over a century later, former President Barack Obama echoed the thoughts of W.E.B. Dubois stating that too many fathers [are] missing missing from too many lives and too many homes... in the African American community (Miller, 2010). There are two dominant reasons today for the weakness of the black family the mass incarceration of the black man and the killing of the black man through police brutality, all which root from institutionalized slavery in white America. The elimination of the black man from African American families has affected black womanhood greatly. BeyoncГ© s Lemonade album showcases the racism, sexism, and socio cultural politics that black women experience. The size of said monsters depend on the severity of the lie being told, and how badly the liar doesn t want to be found out. But this doesn t apply to all dragons, however. Dragons come into existence to fulfill the need or a strong wish of a human. A human who has seen all of their loved ones die and firmly wishes for solace will bring about an immortal dragon. A human who has been trapped all their life will bring about a dragon with powers of intangibility. It s not a hard concept to grasp, really. • 4. What Walker And Avant ( 2016 ) Outlined Essay The following concept analysis is formulated to follow an abbreviated version of what Walker and Avant (2016) outlined. Select a Concept The concept of Pediatric Adaptation to Hospitalization has been a topic talked about since the early sixties, if not before. When a child is hospitalized they experience a wide variety of emotional stressors. Separation from family, stress, isolation, anxiety, depression, fear, unfamiliar surroundings, normal routine interruption, lack of understanding ( why do I feel this way , why is this happening to me ), pain, and continuous stranger interaction are a few of the feelings and emotions that children experience during hospitalization. Langford (1961) stated This increased body of knowledge about the emotional effects of illness and hospitalization has been reflected in changes in the practices of many pediatric hospitals and services in order to lessen the psychological hazards to their child patients . Although the topic has been discussed, a true definition has not been formulated. Positive adaptation will foster healing, increased comfort, less stress, and an overall increased psychosocial wellbeing. On the other hand, negative adaptation will prolong healing, increase pain levels, foster acting out behaviors, and increase stress which in turn effects the immune system. The ways in which a child handles these stresses and the anxiety and tension provoked by them have been found to be related to a number of factors: the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An ethical hacker will require the permission of a company to legally carry out pen testing on its systems to help them secure it better. In common terms he/she can be thought of as an inspector that is trying to check whether a certain system is performing as it should by finding out things that can harm or damage it. You might think But, we already have IT staff and network/system administrators who are already doing that job! That is not true for two reasons, the first being in order to secure systems and networks an expert, consultant, or professional in the field is required to conduct the job. The other reason is IT staff and administrators also need some kind of auditing and profiling which is part of pen testing to verify how well they are doing their job in keeping systems compliance with security policies. • 6. The Detrimental Effect of War on People Essay example War has a detrimental effect on the individual as the idea of killing another could be horrific to anyone; though in the context of war, it was expected that soldiers were to kill another to defend and honour their country. War can affect the individual mentally, physically and emotionally, causing major distress and discomfort with, not only how they see themselves, but how they see war. Regeneration was written by Pat Barker in 1991 and was inspired by her grandfather who had been bayoneted in the war; she was able to see the scars he had when he washed in the sink. His war experiences had affected her understanding of the war in a more immediate and personal way. Unlike Barker, R C Sherriff (a play writer and an ex officer in the East... In Regeneration, several characters are affected by the war in this way; for example Anderson has a dream which makes him feel emasculated, in which [his] father in law came towards [him], waving a big stick. It had a snake wound round it. and A pair of lady s corsets. [orderlies and his father in law] fastened them round [his] arms and tied the laces . Barker suggests that Anderson s unconscious mind is revealing a fear of no longer being seen as a man, perhaps a result of allowing his emotions to get the better of him causing him to have a breakdown. There was a strong belief in the early 1900 s, that men should not display emotions as this was considered to be a feminine trait. In Victorian times, masculinity was seen as a male being: courageous; enduring; protecting of the weak; fit and well developed physically. A stereotypical assumption was that men had to develop their body to be able to educate their minds, though the only thing they weren t developing, according to E.M. Forster, was an undeveloped heart not a cold one . It is likely that this caused the stigma that the men had at the time of the war, men being afraid to put across their feelings and emotions because it was seen as wrong by them from a young age. That being said, negative adverse effects are often the results of our world placing the upmost importance on body image. At Radboud University, Doeschka Anschutz and Rutger Engels conducted an experiment designed to test the effects of playing with thin dolls on body image and food intake in 6 10 year old girls. After splitting the girls into three different groups where they either played with a thin doll, an average sized doll or a slightly oversized doll, as seen in figure one, the results yielded that indeed there were significant differences between the girls body image and food intake which was completely dependent on which doll they played with (Anschutz, Engels 625). For example, a girl that played with the thinnest doll, the Barbie Doll, consumed the least amount of food following playtime when girls that played with either the average sized doll or even slightly larger doll consumed significantly more food. This experiment explicitly highlights the unknown dangers associated with playing with Barbie Dolls at a young age. Immediately the doll caused young girls to see themselves as too big or ... • 11. Violence And Its Effect On Society Introduction The presence of violence is all around us; embedded in our everyday lives. Such acts may be masked and subtle; while others are exposed and evident. One thing, however, is certain, a single act of violence creates a rippling effect of repercussions. The use of violence can often leave much longer lasting residues of violence which return again in the future (Brand Jacobsen, 2005, p. 12). This cycle of malice and destruction must end. Thus, where does one begin to initiate change? Awareness is key in the stand against violence. For I cannot solve the problem if I am incognizant of it preying in plain sight. Moreover, claims of ignorance and partial justification are not acceptable excuses to dismiss or ignore the veracity of violence among us. I believe just as violence can propagate from one act, so can acts of peace. Reflection I am guilty of turning a blind eye in the face of violence (structural and cultural). I have walked away and dismissed it in my mind because to acknowledge it makes it real. And once it becomes real, I have to do something about it. By nature, I am a very anxious person. As such, I am uncomfortable with uncharted waters and conflict. I do not instigate or involve myself in conflict to keep my stress level at a minimum. Therefore, I adamantly avoid situations with a propensity for violence at all costs. Until this class, I was uninformed of the various forms of violence with the exception of direct violence. Analyzing The Primary Features Of Eukaryotic Cells Jonathan Bowers and Bo Fisher Mrs. Li Ko September 15, 2015 Life 120L Lab Report 1 Abstract The objective of this lab was to observe prepared bacterial cells and to observe and describe the primary features of eukaryotic cells. Also, we investigated the effect of concentration gradient and temperature on the rate of osmosis in an artificial system. Finally, we investigated the effect of solute concentration on the tonicity of cells in plant tissue and Elodea. The purpose of our experiments was to find out whether the effect of concentration gradient on the rate of osmosis had a greater effect than temperature on the rate of osmosis. The purpose of the Elodea experiment was to see if a five percent solution of sodium chloride or distilled water effected the structure of the Elodea. To observe the primary features of a eukaryotic cell we used a compound microscope. We tested the effect concentration gradients had on the rate of osmosis two ways: with potato tissue and with dialysis tubes. We used potato slices, paper towels, bowls, sodium chloride (at different concentration levels), and a scale to test potato tissue. We used dialysis tubing, sucrose solution (10% and 40% concentration gradients), plastic clips, bags, distilled water, and a scale to test the rate of osmosis with dialysis tubes. These pages will help familiarize you with the basic concepts of how an engine works, an understanding of engine output, and some information on how forced induction or boost increases power output. However under normal driving conditions an engine will encounter lean conditions when cruising on the highway (better milage) and rich conditions when accelerating (better power). The lean condition results in oxide and harmful nitrogen compound production. Rich conditions result in carbon monoxide production. For this reason a catalytic converter is used on most larger engines. The catalyst material in a cat is in a wire mesh or honeycomb. This allows a high surface area to be exposed to the passing exhaust gasses. The catalyst (typically platinum) converts the harmfull nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide into nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. Catalytic converters work best when warm (as the reaction rate increases with temperature) so some car manufacturers are putting pre cats in the exhaust manifold to convert the gasses while the exhaust system is still warming up. That covers the basic function of an engine fron intake to exhaust. Next we will explore the relationship of Horsepower vs Torque. Engine output is measured in two ways. The first is a direct measurement of engine output: Torque. Torque is defined as the amount of mass that can be lifted a certain distance from the center of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast The Whiskey Rebellion And Daniel Shays Destiny Manston per.4 Dept, Taxes, and Daniel Shays Daniel Shays Rebellion took place during the time of America s post war depression that from 1784 1787. The rebellion fits into the theme of culture and society . The confederation had an enormous debt that had built up during the Revolutionary War. Congress showed its weakness that weighed heavily on debtors and having no power to tax. The confederation could only make requisition on the states but even then could only receive one sixth of the money. Robert Morris and his Philadelphia allies had an idea for a centralized government after the flaws found in the Articles of Confederation. Because the states also had post war dept, they had to rely on taxation to get payed back. The increase of taxation caused Nationalists to became outraged toward the government who felt that they were being treated unfairly (and in some cases felt that the government was being tyrannical). The burdened farmers demanded paper money to fulfill the obligations. The effect of the increased burdens of debt and taxation caused farmers to riot periodically in various parts of New England in the late 1700s. The Dissidents from Connecticut Valley and Berkshire Massachusetts rallied behind Daniel Shay who was a former captain of the Continental army. Both the ligand molecules OA and BET were conserved on the NCs surface in the TFT devices at a curing temperature of 150 В°C. The TGA curves confirmed no weight loss at 150 В°C (Figure. 4). Moreover, the FTIR spectrum of the thin films cured at 150 В°C also supported the existence of the ligand molecules OA and BET with high intensity peaks of the alkyl group Csp3 H and carboxylate group COO (Figures 5(a) and 5(b)). Therefore, The Вµ increased after the ligand exchange process because of the decrease ligand lengthfrom OA (1.97 nm) to BET (0.48 nm). Specially, the highest mobility obtained in this study are 4.1 cm2V 1s 1 for the In2O3 BET NC TFT annealed at 350 В°C. This can be explained by thermal decomposition of the organic ligands OA or BET on the NC surface, decreasing the d between the neighboring nanocrystals with increasing annealing temperatures [15]. This was further supported by investigating the crystalline domain sizes of the NCs from the XRD pattern of the thin films (in the supplementary information). The crystalline domain sizes were not significantly affected by the annealing temperature, indicating that the In2O3 NC thin films still consisted of an assembly of the single crystalline NCs [15]. • 21. Reflection On Math Math has many different categories within itself and for this project, we had to observe and solve problems on certain college placement tests. There were many college placement tests to chooses from but I wanted to choose the college I want to go to and the test that I wanted to answer. I chose the Monmouth Mathematics Placement Test and Barton College Practice Placement Test. For each one, we had to categorize how many questions were in each type of math whether it was algebra, geometry, or calculus. The Barton test had 64 geometry problems and 16 trigonometry problems while the Monmouth test had 50 problems which were all algebra. I answered the Barton test because I liked the different variety of algebra problems it was consisted of. The Monmouth test I will do at a future date because that is where I wanna go and it will help me practice math and help me pass their placement test. I was actually surprised about both of their tests because I thought they were gonna be a lot harder. Most of the problems seemed like Algebra 1 and I believe I have excelled in that since freshman year. They both had problems on their tests that were very easy and I did them fast and efficiently. A couple problems were hard since I haven t had a refresher on that section of trigonometry, but if I studied, I would have easily gotten them right. I felt confident with these tests because even if i had only gotten a couple wrong, I would have still easily passed. Also, it was even easier since ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rip, much like America during this period, was having trouble finding his identity throughout the story and he finally finds it at the end of the story when his daughter finds him and takes him home to live with her. Now Rip can enjoy his freedom, just like America is able to enjoy her freedom (Pierce). Washington Irving also included mythical, supernatural, and Gothic elements into his short story of Rip Van Winkle. We first begin to see this when describing the mountains, he says produces some change in the magical hues and shapes of these mountains (Irving) and in the same paragraph when he is describing the mountains he says, at the foot of these fairy mountains (Irving). This is the first glimpse that we have of these elements in the story. Irving When Rip hears his name being echoed in the woods but can see nothing but a crow winging its solitary flight across the mountain, (Irving, Rip Van Winkle) Irving touches on the supernatural being in the woods also. The crow is crucial in the story because a crow represents the arrival of a trickster in narrative literature. While Rip s name is being called out for the second time, Wolf bristled up his back, and giving a low growl, skulked to his master s side, looking fearfully down the glen (Irving, Rip Van Winkle) which gives us the sense that even his dog felt uneasy about what was going on and that Rip should ... • 28. John Locke s Separation Of Personal Identity Locke s argument for the identity of person (spiritual) and the identity of man (material) is not sufficient. However, the distinction Locke made is based on its ontological thinking and does have a practical significance. In my opinion, the problem of identity is not only an extension of ontology, but also have a practical significance based on the issue arose by the separation of identity, that it is unreasonable to talk about identity without any one of the two (spiritual or material). Locke argues that the identity of people does not equal the identity of man, that with the soul alone, it is not possible to form the same person. To take further step of this argument, Locke provides the example of the the Prince and the Cobbler. Adding the Prince s soul into the Cobbler s body, and therefore the Cobbler s body is now having the the Prince s soul, and further more that the Cobbler s body is now having the Prince s personal identity. However, people will not regard the Cobbler as the Prince, for that people are inseparable from the body. Therefore, in such circumstances, Locke believes that people should conclude from this example that the body should be the one to determine whether one is the same person (Locke, 517 518). In this example, Locke wants to establish concepts of the soul (or more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 30. Conflict in Daniel Ridgway KnightВґs Paintings Daniel Ridgway Knight was an odd American artist who loved to paint relaxed French peasants in luscious landscapes. Ironically, he lived during a stressful time when the Industrial Revolution displaced numerous farmers and polluted the environment. He seemed to ignore the harsh truth and shut himself in his imaginary serene world. For instance, In the Premier Chagrin, translated as The First Grief, Knight paints two healthy girls conversing on a stonewall in front of gorgeous fields. At first, it appears as merely a pretty painting that is nicely contrasted to show depth and realism. Yet, with a closer look, this contrast in the colors and lines of the landscape and the figures creates tension to suggest the painter s conflict between longing for serene freedom and feeling trapped within the stiff society. Though the viewers focus first on the centered figures, it is easier to first analyze the surrounding settings to understand them. The stone wall foreground and the open fields of the background each embodies one of the girl s thoughts. The back landscape is filled with warm, airy colors of blue and orange, as if it were under a bright sun. On the other hand, the foreground s stone wallsand concrete floor has dark, cold, shadowy, earthy colors that seem to appear as if under a stormy cloud. The other imperative that Kant talks about is the categorical imperative; wish is known to be the right one. Categorical, or unqualified, imperatives are the right kind of imperatives, because they show proper recognition of the imperial status of moral obligation (pg. 128). Kant named it, categorical imperatives (CI), which according to Kant is a strategy for control of morality in any course of movement. The CI consists of a couple steps that I will explain below: First step is to find a maxim, which is also known to be the general rule. Meaning, say you were in the spirit to help someone who was in need. The maxim would be to help the person, but to have no load of weight on your shoulders by helping them. The second step consists to see if the maxim affects everyone. If the steps can be made available, then we obtain the maxim, and it is considered to be moral. If they are not... Teleological contradiction is where the top most couldn t be able to work in a functioning manner lawfully in a well regulated system of nature. The third one Kant mentioned was the practical contradiction, where my activity wouldn t be affective in trying to achieve motivation, if everyone wanted to use if for that same purpose. The Romans believed that without a proper burial, a spirit would cause unhappiness for those living. While rites varied throughout different periods, traditions remained vastly, and always had the same importance. Funeralceremonies were extremely elaborate, especially for upper class citizens. Funerals had five parts in Ancient Rome; the procession, the cremationand burial, the eulogy, the feast, and the commemoration. Ceremonies began closely after death, as soon as all necessary preparations were made. At the home, the deceased s body would be washed with warm water and then anointed. If the deceased person had held office, a wax impression of his features would be taken. Next, the body would be dressed in in a toga with all the regalia of the rank he was allowed to wear. Incense would be burned and pine woul dbe places outside the door to signify death in the house. In early and late times, when burial was more popular than cremation, a coing would be placed in between the teeth of the deceased, as payment for Charon, the ferryman of the underworld. These rites were simplified in poorer funerals, as well as done by a family member. However, for the rich, an undertaker, or designator, would do so(). Religion itself has the ability to influence and shape its followers and the world. Whether religions stem from an established religion or a new religion, both are defined as new religious movements (NRMs). These new religious movements can take a scientific approach to religion, such as Scientology, referred to as a client cult where services are provided or branch off from an established religion like Christianity as did Mormonism with its teachings based upon the Holy Bible and The Book of Mormon. I sat quietly in the single black chair placed by the door, watching a few people silently do their workouts, as I waited for Jess Dillon to be done with her last client of the day so we could talk. Soon, a small, petite woman, who seemed no taller than 5 3 walked out of the back room wearing black workout pants along with a light pink tank top. She had her short, dark hair up in a ponytail and met my gaze with a soft smile. I immediately recognized her as Jess and followed her out of the gym. We walked through a brown door placed on the far west side of the fitness center which led to the lobby area outside of her private lessons studio. It was clean and had a calming aroma. There was a single wooden table with four matching chairs placed around it. Jess sat down very comfortably on the far side of a table, talking with ease from the very beginning. Jess is an outstanding woman in our small community due to her hard worth ethic, belief in others, and confidence to overcome any obstacle she faces. Jess wasted no time as she began to explain everything she was active in throughout our community. The small town she has grown to love provided her with the opportunity to be the President of ... • 39. Captain Jack Sparrow Research Paper Ever since I was a child, I ve been fascinated by pirates, whether it was Captain Hook or Captain Jack Sparrow. Little did I know that one day I would be like one. When I was a child, I didn t realize that I was different. I would go around school and the community essentially only seeing through my right eye. I didn t know I was any different because that s all I knew. If I saw double vision or didn t see color, I thought that was what everyone else saw. In life, we take so much for granted. One year for Halloween I was so excited to dress up as a pirate. I wore an eye patch on my left eye and believed I was in another land. As I was traveling through the water to find treasures, my mother interrupted my journey. She asked me why I wasn t wearing the patch on the other eye because that s where most pirates wear it. I switched the patch and that s when I realized there was something wrong.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Did they know I had bad vision in one eye or I that couldn t see that much color or sometimes saw double? Did they think I was different? This made me very observant of others. I went to the eye doctor to see what could be done. The doctor told me to wear an eyepatch on my good eye to strengthen my bad eye. I was just in 5th grade and didn t think it would help, so I fought against it. If my dad said to wear the patch and read I would disobey him. I would argue, go upstairs, and just read with no patch. I guess I was like most kids. I thought I knew everything, and therefore ignored the good intentions of the people who cared about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Essay On Parathas I recall my visit to Delhi, the glorious capital of India, when I was eight years old. The rich heritage of the city and the bustling atmosphere of areas such as Chandni Chowk1 seemed to overwhelm me. And it was in Chandni Chowk where I discovered my favourite dish. I vaguely have a memory of my mother holding my hand and getting me past crowds to a street filled with aromas of different varieties of the same food. Small stalls filled the tiny pockets of space available in the street and pans of oil and ghee2 flew in the air along with a blend of vegetables stuffed in a sort of flatbread. Infactuated by its smell, I curiously asked my mother what it was that got my attention. Parathas*, answered my mother. This was the Parathe Wali Gali3, one of the most famous food attractions in India, and arguably, the headquarters to the paratha, one of India s standout traditional dishes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you know a die hard Paratha person, he or she will be quick to point out that it is the smoothness and the compactness of the dish that makes it worth eating. This is all because of the Punjabis, the creators of the dish, who featured the Paratha with an excess of ghee and oil that solidifies the conventional atta7 and gives the Paratha its ability to boost people s energy levels (no wonder some reckon that the word Paratha was a combination of the words parat8 and atta , literally making it layers of cooked dough). The Paratha can do with a few stuffings, that have to be carefully mashed and filled between the layers help the Paratha preserve its hard looking shape. The dough of the Paratha is capped off by adding a pinch of salt to the fatty mixture for taste, and further kneading will do the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Is Blanche A Likeable Character A Street Car Named Desire Is Blanche a likeable character? It is an interesting question. Her past is less than desirable: A husband who has committed suicide, countless sexual encounters with men who wanted her for one reason and one reason only, a sense of utter loneliness, and a very distinct belief that she is better than all others around her. Blanche heads to visit Stella and Stanley in an effort to start a new, and cleanse herself of the past; when in fact what she finds is much worse than the ghosts of her past. In the first scenes, Blanche is very unlikable and is portrayed as a jealous sister, who can t be happy for anyone. It is hard to feel sympathetic to Blanche; yet easy to feel sympathetic for everyone but her, due to her treatment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Blanche has just lost her last chance to be stable financially, emotionally and physically. The reader can most likely relate on some level with a loss of something once loved. The most shocking parts of the play take place in the last few scenes when Stanley takes out the ultimate aggression and abuse of power on Blanche; he rapes her while her sister is in labor with his child. This is a very hard concept to grasp. How could Stanley be so evil? Have so much hate? Do this to Blanche, Stella and his son? These are all questions the reader may ask themselves; while most likely having sympathy for Blanche after experiencing such a violent act. It is in the last scene when Blanche is torn down repeatedly; here she may receive even more sympathy. Blanche has told Stella of what Stanley did to her, but Stella does not believe her. Blanche s behavior toward the poker players and during her bath reflects the way being raped by Stanley has scarred her. In the beginning of the play, Blanche craves the attention of the poker players. By its end, she wants to be invisible and hopes they won t notice her. Blanche spends much of Scene Eleven in the bath; as she has done this many times before, this time was different. Blanche was attempting to wash away Stanley s recent violation rather than her past sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Youth Environmental Stewardship Paper Introduction The Youth Environmental Stewardship program is a one of the programs of Rural Action, in which students learn diverse nature and its ecosystem directly through the camp. According to Browne, Garst, and Bialeschki (2011), environmental stewardship, in general, is a multisided idea to make people consider the environment with eco friendly beliefs (p.74). Also, they mentioned (2011) that environmental experiences in childhood strongly influence and even determine their attitudes toward nature (p.74). In the program, Rural Action manages two types of weekly camp for children every summer with Sunday Creek Watershed Group and Monday Creek Restoration Project. It influences entire program because they are primarily going to camp. At first, the program is always side by side with the possibility of unfavorable weather. Brown, Garst, and Bialeschki (2011) mentioned that given the dynamic and unpredictable nature of the camp, camp administrators often struggle to implement camp activities precisely as planned (p. 81). For example, when they have planned to explore watershed but had flood in the day before the camp, they need to avoid it because they must ensure the safety of all the participants.
