I arrived at the community centre and Carol was already there. She greeted me and asked me if I

Lauren: What made you choose counselling as a career path?
Carol: (Smiling and holding eye contact) Well, I actually started working as a social worker in
England. I studied for four years and did social care for eighteen years. Part of social care includes
counselling and I really enjoyed this part of the job so I enrolled in a counselling course to focus on
this field.

Carol: After I finished the course I started working in more counselling orientated environments and
after some experience, I decided to focus on counselling. Then I moved to Spain a six of years after
