The top 5 things planners need to know about self-driving vehiclesChris Hedden
There are numerous stories being written on self-driving vehicles today that are pretty impressive, and to be honest, almost a bit overwhelming.
In fact there are so many angles to the self-driving vehicle arena, that it is hard to know what we should be concerned about as transportation planners.
Inspired by a SlideShare I had seen by Jonathan Rosenberg at Google, my colleague, Dan Krechmer and I thought we would have some fun and talk about this exciting topic in a new way; which not only engages, but also informs.
We then teamed up with artist Ron Basile who brought our words to life; and did a heck of a job with the illustrations.
I hope you enjoy our perspective on this exciting development in transportation.

Problems in Autonomous Driving System of Smart Cities in IoTijtsrd
This paper focuses on the problems and challenges during self driving. In the modern era, technologies are getting advanced day by day. The field of smart city has introduced a new technology called ""Autonomous Driving"". Autonomous driving can be defined as Self Driving, Automated Vehicle. Google has started working on this type of system since 2010 and still in the phase of making changes in this technology to take it to a higher level. Any technology can reach up to an advanced level but it cannot provide a full fledged result. This paper facilitates the researchers to understand the problems, challenges and issues related to this technology. Shweta S. Smart infrastructure for autonomous vehicles Jeffrey Funk
These slides use concepts from my (Jeff Funk) course entitled analyzing hi-tech opportunities to analyze how autonomous vehicles are becoming economic feasible. They are becoming economically feasible because the cost of lasers, ICs, MEMS, and other electronic components are falling at 25 to 40% per year. If the cost of autonomous vehicles fall 25% a year, the cost of the electronics associated with autonomous vehicles will fall 90% in 10 years. Dedicating roads to autonomous vehicles is necessary to achieve the most benefits from autonomous vehicles. While using autonomous vehicles in combination with conventional vehicles can free drivers for other activities, dedicating roads to autonomous vehicles can dramatically reduce congestion, increase speeds, and thus increase the number of cars per area of the road. They can also reduce accidents, insurance, and the number of traffic police. These slide discuss the use of wireless technologies for the control and coordination of autonomous vehicles. Improvements in bandwidth, speed, and latency (delays) along with improvements in computer processing are occurring and these improvements are making dedicated roads for autonomous vehicles economically feasible.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN CONDENSING HEAT EXCHANGERS...ssuser7dcef0
Power plants release a large amount of water vapor into the
atmosphere through the stack. The flue gas can be a potential
source for obtaining much needed cooling water for a power
plant. If a power plant could recover and reuse a portion of this
moisture, it could reduce its total cooling water intake
requirement. One of the most practical way to recover water
from flue gas is to use a condensing heat exchanger. The power
plant could also recover latent heat due to condensation as well
as sensible heat due to lowering the flue gas exit temperature.
Additionally, harmful acids released from the stack can be
reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation. reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation.
Condensation of vapors in flue gas is a complicated
phenomenon since heat and mass transfer of water vapor and
various acids simultaneously occur in the presence of noncondensable
gases such as nitrogen and oxygen. Design of a
condenser depends on the knowledge and understanding of the
heat and mass transfer processes. A computer program for
numerical simulations of water (H2O) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4)
condensation in a flue gas condensing heat exchanger was
developed using MATLAB. Governing equations based on
mass and energy balances for the system were derived to
predict variables such as flue gas exit temperature, cooling
water outlet temperature, mole fraction and condensation rates
of water and sulfuric acid vapors. The equations were solved
using an iterative solution technique with calculations of heat
and mass transfer coefficients and physical properties.
3. An autonomous vehicle is something that can guide itself without human
conduction. An autonomous vehicle is also known as a driverless vehicle,
robot vehicle, self-driving vehicle or simply autonomous vehicle.
3
4. • we spend a lot of time and money commuting to work in vehicles.
• Statistics show that 86% of workers in the U.S. drive to work in a car, taking
an average of 200 hours per year, and spending $2,600 in fuel.
• In Canada, the numbers are comparable, with 74% of the commuters driving
their vehicle, taking 211 hours annually.
4
5. • According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, drivers cause
an overwhelming 94 percent of vehicle crashes. So what happens when you
remove drivers from the equation?
• Now imagine instead, effortlessly riding to work in a synchronized stream of
self-driving vehicles or an autonomous shuttle bus that delivers you right to
your workplace. This is the future for our cities and highways.
5
6. • Autonomous vehicle use various kinds of technologies. They can be built with
GPS sensing knowledge to help with navigation. They may use sensors and
other equipment to avoid collisions. They also have the ability to use a range
of technology known as augmented reality, where a vehicle displays
information to drivers in new and innovative ways.
6
7. • Many technologies in vehicles today are a form of autonomous technology
(known as different “levels” of autonomous technology). For example,
parking assistance features or back-up cameras use basic functions of
autonomous technology.
7
8. Now, Let us think about the challenges we have to face due to the
implementation of autonomous vehicle.
8
9. • Road conditions: Road conditions could be highly unpredictable and vary
from places to places. In some cases the external signals for direction
are not very clear.
• Weather conditions: Weather conditions play another spoilsport. There
could be a sunny and clear weather or rainy and stormy weather.
Autonomous vehicles should work in all sorts of weather conditions.
There is absolutely no scope for failure or downtime.
9
10. • Internet hacking: Internet hacking is the most critical challenge we have to
deal with as the whole system is network based. Any bad interruption will
make the situation much more worse.
• Accident Liability: The most important aspect of autonomous vehicles is
accidents liability. Who is liable for accidents caused by a self-driving
vehicle?
• Traffic conditions: Autonomous vehicles would have to get onto the road
where they would have to drive in all sorts of traffic conditions. They would
have to drive with other autonomous vehicles on the road, and at the same
time, there would also be a lot of humans. An object may turn up in
unexpected conditions.
10
11. While we are nearing the point of full autonomy, it will still be a while
before we see these vehicles active on the road outside of
testing/research scenarios.
Changes needed before autonomous vehicles hit the road:
• Develop and pass autonomous driving laws.
• Revise municipal transportation plans.
• Improve road markings and lane lines.
• Update traffic signs.
• Design and install smart traffic controls and vehicle ID systems.
• Smarter Roads.
• Smarter Traffic Signals.
