After filming his opening sequence, the author imported the clips into Adobe Premiere Elements software which he had never used before. He arranged the clips in the correct order with help from his storyboard. The author then cut the clips, added text to identify those involved, and used fades between shots. While the editing was easier than expected due to lack of soundtrack, the author realized in hindsight that a short soundtrack could have improved the opening scene.

2. After filming my opening sequence I had to import the clips into the software.
The software available for myself was Abode Premier Elements, this was
challenging software because I had never used the software before and it was
quite complex to understand. My first steps after importing all of my footage,
was having to ensure the right clips go in the correct order. My storyboard
obviously helped me with this. I then had to wait in order for the clips to ‘render’
so that I could cut them and make sure that there were not any mistakes within
my opening sequence, for example when I was conducting my opening sequence
at the end of several scenes I sometimes forgot to stop recording, clearly I had to
cut this in order for my opening sequence to look professional. After I completed
cutting most of my scenes I then had to place text throughout in order to
highlight who was involved in the creation of my opening sequence. I decided to
add the director, the editor, the actor’s and the name of the film. To do so I had
to decide a colour, and the size of my font. I decided a middle sized font in order
for my opening sequence footage to be clear, I also decided the colour black
because I felt this was most clear, however I might decide against this in my final
opening sequence when adding my logo because I feel using the colour white
may be more clear for my audience.

3. I then had to use transitions on some of my shots in order for my shots not to be
rapid but to be steady. This was mainly fades into the opening sequences and
fades out as when I put my footage within the software they jumped quite clearly
to each other but also looked continuous. I was very lucky because of this as it
meant I didn't’t actually have a large amount of editing to complete, this is
because I decided against a soundtrack. Finding a soundtrack which I felt
sounded right for my opening sequence was extremely difficult but also one
which conformed to my genre. Because of this I decided not to use a soundtrack
but when I now look back at my opening sequence I wish I used one at the start
of the scene because I feel it would have stopped my audience from finding it
boring before the equilibrium is disrupted. If I was to do this task again I would
make sure that I used a backing track just to make the disruption of the
equilibrium more tense.
Once I had finished editing I exported my video and then decided to upload it to
my blog before I added my logo and it would be fully complete.
