1. What I have learnt about technologies from
the process of making my product..
During his project I have learnt a lot about technologies
and the process of making my product.
These include the following:
● Filming effectively
● Editing
● Post production skills- sound
● Adding titles
2. Filming effectively..
In the making of my media text I learned how important about using a tripod, it
keeps your camera steady and the footage isn’t wobbly. Using a tripod you can
easily create a panning shot, these are used to show the setting of the setting of the
scene. These can be difficult to create as you need a smooth transaction from one
point to another without the camera dropping from the point.
. In our film we didn’t use any panning shots as they looked too wobbly and weren’t
overly necessary.
The only technology problem that we came across was went filming in the dark the
camera couldn’t full focus. For this we used a torch to lighten up the face of the
actor to try and see the facial expressions.
This made me learn that I need to know when the camera is and isn’t in focus and
control the light source.
I would also need to film the same scene about 3 times to double my chances of
getting good footage.
3. Editing..
I learnt to always keep my original clips as editing can take a lot of time to
get the right sequence that works.
I tried to follow my storyboard I chose to try other shots to see if it worked
any better, if it doesn’t work i can change it back on my plan, my storyboard
is a guide of how it will look.
Another thing which I learnt while editing is to edit i different sections, this
make it easier to put into the correct order.
Finally, I learnt how to use multi-trim, this is when shots need to be
shortened and made more specific.
4. Post production skills- sound..
The song which we chose was a upbeat song from a popular band,
‘You Me At Six’. The song was used only to make the film seem
more intense in certain scenes. We didn’t use it throughout, other
music we used was royalty free music. When editing the sound we
slowly faded it in and out when the characters spoke.
When filing some scenes of our film you could hear the background
noise of the street, addition to this was the wind blowing, we
decided to mute the clips, and over the top added some recorded
background noise of footsteps etc. This gave it a more of a realistic
and natural.
5. Adding titles..
For the titles on my film I had to make sure the were positioned and
timed right. I wanted them to fit in perfectly, I put them on the screen in
the background, not on the actresses. I also used white, this seemed
the better colour as our film was quite dark and it stood out well.
The titles that I added were for the actresses names, production
company. This editing I found different as I had to perfectly make sure
they were clear font and on the screen at the right time and for long
enough.
