Salvador Hernandez Jr describes three storyboarding assignments from his MAAA222 Storyboarding & Animatics Fall 2015 portfolio. The first was recreating the elevator scene from "Drive" to practice storyboarding skills. The second was boarding a modern remake trailer for "Rashomon" in black and white. The final assignment involved boarding an original concept trailer for a slasher film called "The Behemoth." Hernandez learned about outlining storyboards, composition techniques, and using color themes through completing these projects.

2. RECREATE A MOVIE SCENE
The first assignment given was to recreate a movie scene to test our
skill/knowledge in Storyboarding. Using only rough notepad sketches and
putting it together in Adobe Premiere.
I decided to recreate the infamous “elevator” scene from the 2011 film “Drive”

Original Clip/ https://youtu.be/i5ufgkJ-uVE
Overall I learned the process of outlining storyboards, and the putting one
together using Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop.
3. MODERN REMAKE TRAILER
The Next assignment was to board a 30 sec trailer for a modern remake a
black and white film, while also keeping the stark values of a black and white
film. I chose to remake the classic film “Rashomon”

Original Trailer/ https://youtu.be/mzK0ug1dqdk
With the forced use of black and white, and I had to focus more on
composition, and making it true to the source material in some way.
4. CONCEPT TRAILER
The final assignment was to board/make a 30 sec teaser for a concept of our
choosing.
I chose to a slasher/horror film (having never done anything horror related)
that I called “The Behemoth”

Overall making the trailer, I found that the previous assignment lead me to use
more varied color/ color theming, and the rethinking use of composition to
create a more instrestjng trailer
