Cotton Club Segregation
There is No Color in Music Throughout the 1920s, the U.S. was experiencing segregation with a
decay. African Americans and Caucasians were split, and the social classes were divided by the color
of skin. Caucasians were automatically assumed to have a higher social standing than any other
ethnicity. This divide was everywhere schools, housing, public amenities, and especially in clubs.
Nightclubs during the 1920s were booming, attracting large crowds promising entertainment as they
were practically invented in the 1920s. Before the idea of nightclubs men could find a bar or a
restaurant, however, women weren t allowed; so it came to no surprise as nightclubs started opening
on every other block. Even though the club scene throughout New York was very populated, one club
surfaced above the rest in popularity: The Cotton Club. The Cotton Club, though only open to

The Cotton Club employed all African American dancers and they were able to steal the show away
from any other musician even during segregation. The author of The Cotton Club Girls , Peter Bailey,
describes how the dancers really were the stars of the show, The Cotton Club that Duke Ellington s
mastery of the music that he was later to call his Mistress first brought him national and international
acclaim...But they all took a back seat to the famous Cotton Club Girls (Bailey.91 93). The Cotton
Club Girls were really the star of the show, even topping the famous Duke Ellington. Peter Baily goes
as far as to directly state that the Cotton Club Girls were famous showing just how much importance
they carried to The Cotton Club and clientele that was brought in. The Cotton Club Girls article shines
the light on the fame of the African American dancers at The Cotton Club only to show how little
segregation weighed on the music and entertainment industry during the

Rise And Fall Of Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart disappeared in 1937 on an attempted fly around the world. After her plane crashed,
many theories appeared, the most popular being she crashed and died from mechanical difficulties in
her plane. This theory is wrong for many reasons. Most likely, she had landed the plane on an
uninhabited island called Gardner. The theory is supposedly, while Amelia and Frederick where in the
air, they had noticed that fuel was running dangerously low. Fretting, Amelia landed the plane safely
on Gardner Island. This is where both her and Noonan died from lack of resources and no rescue on
the way ( Amelia Earhart Biography ) .

But, as patients started coming in with Spanish flu, it was not long before Amelia became a patient
herself. This became a major setback for her career ( Amelia Earhart Biography ).
After she was stably healthy again in 1920, her father and herself went to an airfield where he bought
Amelia a ten minute flight, and this is where she know she was meant to fly. After that experience, she
took many jobs in order to earn enough money for flying lessons and soon she was conspiring with
Anita Neta Snook, women aviator and Amelia s flying instructor. After a long while of hard work, she
had enough money to buy her own airplane but was forced to sell it soon after her parents were
divorced, for finances. Although, she did not have an airplane, she was still experienced in flying
(Shivani Ishwar).
In 1928, she received a call from Pilot Charles Lindbergh asking if she would like to participate in a
transatlantic flight. She did not pilot the plane but she did keep flight log and was treated with the
same praise as the males when they landed in Wales, United Kingdom. She was so experienced in
knowing about planes and flying, she began to create tremendous feats of her

Europe and the Black Death Essay
Chaos struck all over Europe in the 14th century; no social class or individual was immune from this
mysterious disaster. Historians estimated that this unidentifiable disease killed more than 20 million
people in Europe almost one third of the continent s population, by the 1350 s (Black Death). Now in
today s society scientists classify the unidentifiable disease as the bubonic plague, also referred to as
the Black Death. During fourteenth century European society, there was no logical medical
knowledge; instead, people resorted to supplementary explanations, such as God punishing
misbehaving religious groups and sinners (Black Death). In this time period, oral tradition was still
common among the illiterate. Luckily, for the upper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Boccaccio s resident resided in Florence Italy, where he wrote the Decameron from the years 1348
1353 A.D.. Uncoincidentally, the composure date overlaps with the prime infecting period of the
bubonic plague. Boccaccio was a wealthy merchant who produced other literature prior to the
Decameron, reflecting moral attributes of Italian society (Encyclopedia Britannica). Also occurring in
this time was the transition away from everyday use of the Catholic Church s official language: Latin.
The Decameron begins to follow the new trend from other renaissance writers by composing literature
in vernacular form. By composing in colloquial literature, or the everyday spoken language of the
common people , this reveals Boccaccio s potential audience the commoners, or the whole society, not
the specified group of the clergy or Latin readers (Judge and Langdon 359 6). The language of the
allegory s composure and publication reveals more than just the intended audience; the Decameron
also supports motivation behind Boccaccio s production. If the Catholic Church prompted him to write
the story, then the language would correspond with language of the clergy, Latin. The content in the
Decameron is not religious based writing, nor propaganda, because this author reveals no signs of
exterior influence to write this text. Specifically, quoted by

Social And Economic Policy Decisions Impact Income Equality
Social and economic policy decisions impact income equality, which has an effect on the health of
Canadians. Those with lower incomes are directly affected while income inequality affects the health
of all Canadians through weakening of social structure (Raphael, 2002). Contrary to reports of rising
net worth, a new report has been released by an Ottawa based think tank to show Canada s inequality
problem. The top 10 percent of Canadians have seen their net worth grow by 42% since 2005 to 2.1
million in 2012. However, the bottom 10 percent saw their net worth shrink by 150 percent (Flavelle,
2014). With this new report, it challenges the idea that suggests Canadians are getting wealthier
laterally (Flavelle, 2014). This paper will examine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the reduction of deaths from infectious diseases such as influenza, diphtheria and
typhoid were due to improvements in general living conditions rather than medical cures (Raphael,
2002) It is hypothesized that lifestyle differences are the reasons for the incidence of stroke, heart
disease and cancer.
Health and Poverty
Vulnerable populations including immigrants, Aboriginal peoples, single parent families and the
elderly make up a growing percentage of the lower extreme of the socioeconomic scale (Turnbull, J.
Podymow T, 2002). While we are quick to consider the costs of aiding the poor, we rarely consider the
costs that poverty and income inequality inflict on our society. To achieve improved health, it is
critical to improve income security through good jobs, income supports and fairer taxes (Barnes et al.,
2013).
There are two broad strategies that focus on alleviating the effects of poverty on health: 1) directly
reducing poverty and socio economic inequality 2) intervening in pathways connecting poverty and
health. These interventions have been identified as upstream and downstream. Downstream policies
refer to those that have an explicit health purpose and tend to be targeted at those that are already
suffering from increased health risk, while upstream refers to the wider influences on health
inequalities such as income distribution, education and housing. While these approaches fall

During last 50 years of development, the nuclear bomb, as the ultimate weapon became the
peacekeeping force on the earth. The nuclear bomb was developed in Manhattan project during the
WW II and was successfully tested in the New Mexico on July 16 1945. At this point started the
change of nuclear weapon from ultimate weapon to political weapon. USA decided to use the atomic
bomb to defeat Japan in order to save around 500.000 lives of American soldiers that were needed to
end the war and in the summer 1945 the USA dropped two bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The

The loss of nuclear deterrence meant that conventional forces hat to deter a Soviet attack on Western
Europe. However, in 1952 John Foster Duller argued in an article A policy of Boldness that the
deterrence could work without using large and expensive conventional armies. The Soviets should
believe that USA has capability do inflict horrible devastation in retaliation. Therefore, Eisenhower
named Dulles the secretary of state in 1952 and accepted his nuclear strategy. Eisenhower ordered
rapid increase in the production of nuclear weapons and airplanes capable to deliver them. This was
called more bang for the buck. The deterrence was enhanced and less conventional forces in Europe
reduced the threat of military attack by the West upon the Soviet Union. It was the best way to prevent
WW 3.
At this point, more important than weapons became a coalition of countries that agree to protect each
other or to attack some enemy. Both major powers realized that the possession of nuclear weapons
endowed them with alliance building capabilities. The major nuclear powers could offer protection.
No nuclear states would fit under one or the other s nuclear umbrella. The Soviet Union organized its

Analysis Of The Boys In The Boat By Daniel James Brown
The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown is a true story which illustrates the importance of grit
and perseverance in the face of challenging situations. Throughout his troubled upbringing, Joe Rantz
faces depressing and unfortunate events. When he was young, his mother dies, and his father remarries
a harsh woman, Thula, who treats Joe dreadfully. His father can t hold a job, and his family keeps
moving from town to town, which negatively impacts his social life. Eventually, Thula threatens to
end the marriage with Joe s father unless Joe leaves the family. Joe s father accepts Thula s request,
and he abandons Joes when he is only fifteen years old. Yet in the midst of living independently at
such a young age, Joe perseveres through the challenges and achieves his life s dreams. When he is
left with almost nothing, his drive to succeed ultimately leads to his triumph at rowing and to his
winning of an Olympic gold medal in Berlin.
Rejection. Hate. Unworthiness. That s how I felt when the car slowly eased out of the driveway,
leaving me behind. From my childhood, my stepmother, Thula, loathed me and treated me like an
unneeded burden. She blamed me for her misfortunes and screamed at me whenever she faced
problems. When I was only fifteen years old, her hatred towards me erupted and my family abandoned
me to live by myself in a broken, unfinished farm. I couldn t believe that my own father, who I have

The Last Mohicans Conflict Essay
Conflicts in The Last Mohicans From the first chapter in James Fenimore Cooper s Leatherstocking
Tale The Last Mohicans the evidence of extreme conflict between multiple parties is glaringly
obvious. The struggle between the wilderness of the American country and those who endeavored to
tame it, the clash between the French and the Colonials/British over the new world territory, the
emulation between the various tribes of Indians, and the conflict between the main heroes and villains
of the story are all very prevalent in this historic novel. James Cooper shows how the conflicts

This led to many a battle in which the Indians and Europeans participated. The bloodiest conflict of
these was the massacre after the fall of Fort William Henry. The initial conflict that sparked the
slaughter after the British had surrendered and abandoned the fort was that between an Indian from the
Heron tribe, (They are allies of the French), and a mother with a baby leaving the fort. The inhabitants
of the fort had been allowed to leave in a procession, but the gaudy colors of a shawl (180) attracted
the eye of a young Heron. He tried to seize it from the mother and when she held it away, he took her
babe instead. She then attempted to give the shawl to him, but now uncaring, he dashed the head of
the baby against a rock and killed the mother with a tomahawk. Then the Herons leapt upon the
previous occupants of the fort and killed them, scalped them, and drank their blood. ...many among
them even kneeled to the earth, and drank freely, exultingly, hellishly, of the crimson tide (182). In
describing this, Cooper shows the brutal nature of some of the Indians and what happens in the
conflicts between them and their enemies. Also the French did not try to stop this act, so it is perceived
that they knew about it and it was planned along. This is proof of the hatred of the French against the
English, by using their Indian allies to commit this act of terror. These

Objections To Realism In The Theories Of International...
Objections to Realism
Even though realism finds itself deeply rooted in a utilitarian moral framework, critics arise as to such
an outlook remains immoral (it is wrong to apply) at best. A major opponent theory is liberalism.
Dismissing that conflicts are inevitable, liberals uphold that the spread of legitimate domestic political
orders will eventually bring an end to international conflicts.[ Scott Burchill, Liberalism in Theories of
International Relations, ed. Scott Burchill (New York: Palgrave, 2001), 35.] This approach involves
embedding notions of democracy, human rights, and free trade. As a result, states will avoid ideology
clashes and a universal state will emerge. Liberals might repudiate realism on its utilitarian ground: its
consequential nature and lack of universal moral code. In this section, I will defend realism against
some liberal criticism.
First, liberalism disapproves the consequential nature of realism, arguing that it treats human beings as
means in political games to secure state power. As Bernard Williams whom liberals would rely on
argued that utilitarianism requires impartiality which attacks an individual s integrity.[ Bernard
Williams, A Critique of Utilitarianism in Ethics: History, Theory, and Contemporary Issues, ed. Steven
M. Cahn and Peter Markie (New York: Oxford University Press, 2016), 559.] Utilitarianism, as
William continues, neglects the fact that practical deliberation is in every case first personal, and the
first person is not derivative or naturally replaced by the [impersonal] anyone. [ Bernard Williams,
Ethics and the Limits of Philosophy (London: Fontana, 1985), quoted in Sophie G. Chappell, Bernard
Williams , The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, https://plato.stanford.
edu/archives/spr2015/entries/williams bernard/.] Thereby, liberals endorse policies that respect every
person s integrity, prioritizing human rights to nation state s competitions of power.
A human rights based approach, however, may backfire. Completely banishing the notion of sovereign
states might risk more deaths, a fact which compromises the liberal prospect. The 2011 U.S. led
military intervention in Libya offers an example. The intervention aimed to save lives of peaceful

Losing My Dad and Moving to America I was born and grew up in Ethiopia, moving to America three
years ago. Ethiopia is one of the traditional country where most of the population and the economy

City. My family depends on agriculture, my parents grow crops like teff, barley, hard wheat and
sorghum, which is the common ingredients for our day to day meal. The production of these crops
takes place in traditional farming. I am the youngest kid in my family, that means I am free from any

time playing with my friends. Everyone in my family loves me. If something happens with in our
family, the oldest one are accountable and responsible, even I am a young and grown guy, this thing
makes me lazy and spoiled person. One day my father came from farming and he looked exhausted.
He just went to his bedroom. The next morning, he felt sick. We took him to the closest hospital after
the doctors did the required examination, they found out he had high blood pressure and could be a
victim of a heart attack if he did not take the necessary medication. We came back home with the

Pierre Bourdieu Research Paper
Framing the Debate: Bourdieu and Foucault
Pierre Bourdieu has constructed his theory on the concept of practice using the metaphor of a game.
He states that practice is a mode of generational meta theory of all forms of practices constituting the
game (Bourdieu, 1977: 72). Individuals enter the game with predetermined interest and act in
conformity to the rules of the game to achieve their desired goals. According to Bourdieu, the rules of
the game are subject to changes based on different social conditions referred as fields (Bourdieu,
2000:183). Habitus, in turn, refers to the schematic concept through which practice is generated.
Practices generate habitus and are shaped by the condition of life in a certain environment. Hence,
specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bourdieu (2000:148) notes that habitus is the practical knowledge generated through its agent s
history. Habitus is generated by human living experience at a certain environment where social
relations are produced in interaction with a specific habitat. The special determination of habitus as a
structural orientation is explained in relation to the idea of fields (Bourdieu, 1984). The field and
habitus interact in a two dimensional relationship with the field structuring the habitus, and the habitus
in its turn structuring the perception of the field (Bourdieu, 1988: 784). This shows that there has no
direct influence on the field, but eventually, habitus operates in a dialectic relationship between
structure and the agent. Bourdeau sees the field as a multi dimensional space of positions (Bourdieu
1985: 724) occupied agents who own power in alignment with, what he termed as, their symbolic
capital that is identified in the context of the specific material environment (ibid: 731). This dialectic
relation as noted by Bourdieu (2000:211) between habitus and the probabilities of a social space
provides the space for practice and and thoughts. He points out, one should not say that a historical
event determined a behavior but that it had this determining effect because a habitus capable of being
affected by that event conferred that power upon it (Bourdieu

King Henry Viii s Accomplishments
Henry VIII
King of England from 1509 1547, Henry VIII had an exceptional life. He was famously married 6
times. Henry VIII was witty, highly educated, and had a love for music. Despite being good natured,
Henry knew how to get what he wanted no matter the cost. Overall, Henry VIII was well liked by his
people and was determined to accomplish great things throughout his reign and lifetime. The second
son of King Henry VII and Elizabeth of York, Henry VIII was born on June 28, 1491 at Greenwich
Palace. He had 6 siblings, but only 3 survived. Their names were Arthur, Margaret, and Mary. Henry

Stoney Creek Stream Analysis
Stoney creek is a salmon spawning stream located on Burnaby Mountain, British Columbia, Canada
(The City of Burnaby, 2016). However, the site is constantly being threatened by nearby urban
constructions and development (Stoney Creek Environment Committee, n.d.). Thus, organizations
were created to protect, maintain and monitor this important salmon rearing stream (Stoney Creek
Environment Committee, n.d.). A few methods that the organizations utilize to analyse Stoney Creek,
is to survey its habitat conditions and test the water quality and quantity (Taccogna et al., 1995). This
will require the assessment of vegetation availability, flow velocity, volume, discharge, water
chemistry and conditions (Taccogna et al., 1995). Compiling and documenting ... Show more content

These characteristics involve streambed material, embeddedness, pool habtat percentage, off channel
habitat, bank stability, bank vegetation percentage, overhead canopy and riparian zone. Certain points
to note is that there is an abundant variety and amount of vegetation (such as conifers and shrubs)
surrounding the creek which provides shade, protection and their roots provide bank stability
(Taccogna et al., 1995). Another point to consider is that undisturbed streams will have little to no
embeddedness (Taccogna et al., 1995). Unfortunately, our results from the 25 streambed samples
suggests 41% embeddedness of gravel and rock, meaning there was some stream disturbance.
Coniferous trees are also present which may increase the streams acidity (Taccogna et al., 1995).
Again, plentiful vegetation also increases bank stability and decrease risks of erosion which could
disturb many sensitive aquatic creatures (Taccogna et al., 1995). For that reason, destruction on its
environmental surroundings should be avoided at all costs. Overall, with a score of 90, the habitat
quality of Stoney Creek is in the acceptable

Hatchet Character Analysis
In Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen, the pessimistic main character, Brian is in extreme isolation and
experiences a horrible conflict. While Brian has to adapt from being his comfortable self in the city to

and enhancing ways. The plot brightens up by the author s main purpose, change. This essay will

get because of his mental and physical conditions he is in. As a result, Brain begins to think about
excellent thoughts also, is being resourceful for the time being. I relate to this book because I have had
an experiences when I got into a fight with my sister about a little, non important problem. My sister
and I were fighting one day because I used something of hers without asking. She was mad at me, and
I totally respect that, but she was being a little harsh. My sister and I figured it out after a bunch of
fighting. That experience changed my character, by being careful, and respectful of what I use without
asking my sister. Persevering, Brian constantly fights with a personal conflict, advancing his ability to

How does religion affect the lives of it s followers? Religions affect the lives of its followers greatly

Kurt Cobain s Influence On Nirvana
The band Nirvana unleashed a musical sound and a cultural following that put grunge music on the
map and conquered the quirky pop sounds that dominated the radio waves in the early 1990 s. Their
music was filled with raw emotion, twisted lyrics and hard sounds that possessed their audience. Their
image as a band was rough, torn, dirty and disassembled. They represented the misfits of society and
did not seem to care about the traditional, clean cut superstar aspect of fame. Kurt Cobain, Nirvana s
lead singer, was an emotionally tortured front man who struggled with drug addiction and depression

celebrity that shocked a nation. Nirvana was a small band with big sound and eventually made a huge

Limiting The Use Of Pesticides In Silent Spring By Rachel...
In the book, Silent Spring by Rachel Carson warns people about the use of insecticide. When people
use pesticide to kill insects it leads to problems because it would transfer from people to animals.
Carson shows us when the earth is contaminated with pollution, it is going to take generation after
generation to fix. When the chemicals were discovered to make pesticides it was founded by an
accident. People started to use pesticides to kill insects, but the pesticide started to make people and
animals to get sick or die. The pesticide would enter the body animals or people and it would transfer
to the offspring of the animals or human beings. According to Carson pesticide would go to the water
supply where people drink from and get sick or die. Carson suggests that we should not stop using
pesticide, but to limit our usage of pesticide. I agree with Carson that we should limit the use of
pesticides. People around the world she cut back on the usage of pesticides because it hurts the health

Characters are one of the most important part to any story, movie, or book. The protagonist in The
Jungle Book really makes the story that it is. The main character Mowgli plays a good role in the story
allowing the younger viewers to relate with him and his young age. The kids who watch the movie can
understand, love the child like comedy, and enjoy all the songs that the characters sing together. The
other two key protagonist, Bagheera and Baloo, really make things easier for the parental viewers to
relate too. When watching the movie any of the older audience can see that Bagheera and Baloo are
more like parents to the young Mowgli. They protect Mowgli from danger and teach him valuable life
lessons. With the protagonist appealing to both children and parents, The Jungle Book makes this a
great family friendly movie. On the other hand, there are the antagonist in the movie like King Louie
the orangutan, Kaa the snake, and the main antagonist Shere Khan the tiger. When looking at these

security and reliability have been found to occur due to lack of memory safety of the C programming

Austin, Scott E. Breach, and Gurindar S. Sohi [1]. The idea here is to augment the pointer
representation in memory with the bounds of the pointer s target. Spatial safety is enforced by
checking these bounds whenever a pointer is dereferenced. These fat pointers consist of the following
parameters, value: The value of the safe pointer; it may contain any expressible address., base and
size: The base address of the referent and its size in bytes, storageClass: The storage class of the

through explicit storage allocation (e.g., calls to malloc()) or through procedure invocations (i.e., a
procedure call creates the local variables in the stack frame of the procedure), a unique capability is

quickly from person to person worldwide. The United States is not currently experiencing a flu
pandemic. If a pandemic occurs, the federal government will work to identify the cause and create a

Iran-Iraq War Essay
Iran Iraq War
The eight year Iran Iraq War was, by the standards of international conflicts, a very long one. It lasted
longer than both World War I and World War II. In this conflict, the two most powerful states in the
Persian Gulf, Iran and Iraq, who were the world s largest producers of petroleum, were locked in
mortal combat and appeared intent on destroying each other. The war began when Iraq invaded Iran,
simultaneously launching an invasion by air and land into Iranian territory on September 1980 and
ended with a United Nations brokered ceasefire in 1988. The causes of the war are deeply rooted in
the ideology and ambitions of the leaders of the countries to gain and maintain control over internal

Moreover, what had formerly been the Imperial Iranian military was greatly despoiled, with much of
the officer corps fleeing the Islamic Revolution. Also radical Marxists were still battling the religious

promising chance to strike a devastating blow at its eastern neighbor, establishing Saddam as the pre

to bring about its ultimate downfall. Saddam also wanted to put an end to religious propaganda

Advantages Of Home Based Travel Agent
Some facts about home based travel agent
Today, most people are not aware of the travel industry. People think about them often as real estate
agents. When people are close to their retirement or they want to have some work while staying in
their homes prefer to become travel agents as it is an exciting job to be chosen after retirement. There
are some people who want to do it as a part time business while many people do it full time.
Duties of a travel agent
A travel agent has a duty to book travel for his clients and as the result, he is paid by the suppliers a
good commission on his booking. And if there is any case that supplier don t pay him any commission
for, a travel agent also has option to charge the customer a fee for providing his service for his time
that he spent in managing his journey programmes. An example is if someone books a hotel for a
customer, the hotel management would send a check to an agency after the customer checked out.
There are many hotels that pay about 10% of the cost of the hotel before fees and taxes. So, if the
price of the hotel is 100 US dollars it means the travel agent will be paid 10 dollars because of the
booking he made. The hotel would charge the same amount whether the client comes through a travel
agent or he books the room and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

suppliers who pay travel agents more than they were getting paid 8 years ago. About 10 years ago,

Foodborne illnesses are infections of the digestive tract caused by eating infected foods or drinks.

Norovirus. These are found in raw and undercooked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The results showed that foods contaminated by these pathogens caused 9.4 million illnesses, 55,961
hospitalizations, and 1,351 deaths each year (p. 12).
Even though people are aware of the importance of cleaning their homes, majority do not comprehend
how cleaning can reduce the level of bacteria in their meals. Also, a lot of Americans undercook their
meat, chicken, and egg. Most do not understand, or find it difficult to understand the safe food
handling instructions on the labels of the products they buy. They even do not keep to the
recommended requirements when storing food in their refrigerators. Since proper food storage reduces
the rate of bacteria growth, the refrigerator temperature should be set to between 32F and 41F. (Bruhn,
2014, p. 319, 326)
However, according to Doyle, et al (2015), there has been reduction in the number of outbreaks and
illnesses due to E.coli infections in the past 15 years. This is due to CDC mandate that clinicians
conduct laboratory testing and reporting of microbial agents that cause illnesses. As a result, foods
highly at risk of getting contaminated are being monitored, inclding natural foods that contain little or
no antimicrobial agents (p. 254). Also, clinicians have taken more active role in educating people
about ways to prevent or reduce foodborne diseases. Washing hands properly as well as changing
cutting boards after handling raw poultry or meat is very important for food

Parsons visited Germany under Hitler s leadership, and wrote about what he saw there. He returned
and debated endlessly, giving multiple warnings on how the German people were faring under

Second World War.
Parsons wrote a scathing article entitled New Dark Age Seen If Nazis Should Win , and went on to
rally people behind his staunch opposition of Nazi Germany, and fascism, in general; speaking in
public, and appearing on the radio as well as helping to initiate the Harvard Defense Committee to
further these efforts. At one point during a public appearance, his speech was disrupted by isolation
activists, making him realize that if he was to turn the American people towards supporting a US
presence in the European war, he would have to first overcome the strong feelings many Americans
had in favor of continued isolationism. After WWII, Parsons would go on to socially oppose
Communism and all other forms of totalitarian government, and spoke frequently about what he
referred to as empirical finalism (cultural and ideological claims as to the correct end of a pattern of
value orientation), likening such forms of government to a fundamentalist stance on religion.

Job Satisfaction In Organizational Psychology
Job Satisfaction in Organizational Psychology Job satisfaction can be known to some people as an
important element in their lives. If an individual is unhappy with their occupation it may affect other
parts of their life. Job satisfaction can be seen in what one wants in a job as to what one has in their
current job. Definition of Job Satisfaction Job satisfaction can be defined as an attitude or feeling one
can have toward ones job. Job satisfaction is the extent to which people like (satisfaction) or dislike
(dissatisfaction) in their jobs. (Spector 1997) One of the biggest studies in job satisfaction was the
Hawthorne studies which were credited to Elton Mayo in the year s nineteen twenty four to nineteen
fifty three. Elton ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Job satisfaction is one of the most frequently measured organization variables. Organizations use these
measurements to determine how satisfied their employees are and researchers use this information to
determine if the job satisfaction or the lack of job satisfaction is a situational perspective or
interactional perspective. Organizational commitment is critical to organizations due to the desire to
retain a strong workforce. Organizations want to know why employees stay or leave their
organizations so if correction is needed they have some tools to proceed with the correction. High
turnover of employees in an organization can determine if an organization is successful or not. While
turnover is related to all three areas of commitment researchers have determined that Affective
commitment is one most associated with absenteeism and organizational citizenship (Williams J.
2004). Example on Organizational Commitment to Positively Impact Job Satisfaction At times
employees go to work each day knowing they have to complete the daily task of doing so. Some
individuals may not like their current job or what occupation they currently hold for one reason or
another. At times, it may not be the fact they may not like their job, but the working conditions,
policies or even the people they make work with. Job satisfaction and organizational commitment are
two of the most important roles people live with each and every day.

Compare And Contrast Fences And Death Of A Salesman
The two plays that I chose to read are, Death of a Salesman and Fences. While reading these two plays
and examining the father and son from both stories, I found a special connection with both of them
with personal life experiences and stories. While comparing and contrasting these characters, I
discovered great insight through other peoples life experiences with failure and success. Although
Death of a Salesman is a more tragic story and Fences is more of a coming of age story, the
relationships between the characters are similar. August Wilson the author of Fences, was born in
1945. He passed away at the age of 60 in 2005. Miller is also known as Fredrick August Kittel (
American Dramatist ). Fences won him the Pulitzer Prizes and Tony award ... Show more content on

Although Biffs relationship with his father didn t change after he discovers about the affair and how
he lied to make himself look good to society he then loses motivation to succeed to anything in life.
As Willy goes on with his life and tends to get a little older, sales become a little more difficult for him
as memories start to come back to him. He could never tell himself the difference between reality to a
fantasy and since he wasn t able to, he alienated himself from other people and struggles to survive in
the present during the play. His life becomes really dysfunctional and has a disorder and practically
forces himself to completely withdrawal memories from the past where in his mind order exists while
reconstructing his mind with certain event and relive the past. While reading this story, it relates to me
and a lot of other people simply because it showed that Willy had a self deprecation with a sense of
failure with regret and many emotions. The audience can relate to this story because everyone has
experienced all of these things at one time or another in life. Although Willy ended his life, most do
not, people can connect with Willy because he was driven to succeed. Im sure many people had a lot
of sympathy for Willy because he felt that his only answer was suicide simply because he didn t meet
his standards in success. I on the other hand had no sympathy for Willy because he lied to his family
and friends and found the easy way out. Willys life and situation was not unique, he only made a
couple of mistakes and found the worst through

Google Incorporated And Its Impact On The United States
Google Incorporated, founded in the late 1990s by two Stanford University Ph.D. students Larry Page
and Sergey Brin, is a technology company. Google was officially incorporated as a privately owned
company on September 4, 1998. It became a publicly traded company in August of 2004. At its
founding Google was incorporated in California. Five years later, in 2003, the incorporation location
changed to Delaware. The company s headquarters is in Mountain View, California but it has many
other office buildings around the world. For example, there is a large advertising sales team housed in

Two specific advertising methods used are called Performance advertising and Brand advertising.
Performance advertising delivers relevant, text based, advertisements that users click on in order to
directly engage with the advertiser. This is done though an auction based advertising program called
AdWord. Through this method clients (the advertisers) pay Google in a cost per click base. In other
words, it recognizes revenue every time, and only if, a Google user clicks on a client s advertisement.
On the other hand Brand advertising uses videos, text images etc. which runs through different devices
and reaches specific audiences. With this method, which seeks to promote brand recognition, revenues
are recognized through cost per impression basis. The cost per impression approach means that the
client is billed based on the number of times their ads display on Google websites and Network
Members websites. (Investor, 50)
Other revenue generators include but are not limited to the sales of Telecommunication Equipment
such as android cellular phones. Google either sells these devices directly to customers through a
website or it sells through distributors. In both cases revenues are recognized when the device has
shipped, risk of loss has transferred to the customer, objective evidence exists that customer
acceptance provisions have been met, no significant obligations remain and

Also, the government thinks that he owns marriage with power but it shouldn t be that way. It is stated
from the book the Homosexuality by the author Robert H. Knight , One possible answer is that the
government owns it by virtue of its power to enact legislation that grants married persons certain
privileges while charging them with certain responsibilities. The government basic wants to control
this people that are not straight. Just because they are gay or lesbian or homosexual just mean that they
do wrong to our society. They have the same right as a straight couple. It is just that people are not
very aware, and they don t do research about it. That s why they see everything wrong about it. In the
book Homosexuality It is Vernell stated But psychologists and theologians have in every way sought
to elevate heterosexual love and debase demean, pathologize, vilify or deny love between people of
the same sex reduce it to lust, claim it.... That we cannot deny the love if we are attracted to our same
sex then that s our choice and nobody must tell them nothing.
The catholic church is against gay marriage because of their values. It is stated in the America article,
Growing Latino Catholic population challenges, energizes church, Mexico City Cardinal Norberto
Rivera Carrera criticized the city s legalization of gay marriage and adoption by same sex couples . It
is because of this people that oppose gay marriage cannot be legalize.

Neil Young s Impact On Folk And Rock And Roll Music
It is better to burn out, than fade away. said Neil Young. But Neil has not faded and is still burning
today, and has made many albums and still more. Neil Young had a huge impact on folk and Rock
Roll music, he earned many awards, he was also inducted into the Rock Roll hall of Fame, Neil was
one of the greatest musician in the 20th century. Neil Young became interested in music when he was
a teenager. He started playing folk music and started playing in bands that were not very popular, once
him and his mother moved to Winnipeg when, he was 15 (Morrison.C, 2006). Even though those
bands were not successful, they led him into his music career. Some of Young s first band groups

(Morrison.C, 2006). Although it was a setback he worked harder on the next one. Because of a issue
Neil bought 200,000 LP copies of the song Comes a Time (Schinder.S and Schwartz.A,2018). This
was a major setback and a huge waste of money. Claiming Neil s music was not commercial and this
was not like the kind of music he had been doing at all, the Geffen Records filed a lawsuit for $3.3
million (Schinder.S and Schwartz.A,2018). When Young teamed back up with Crosby, Stills and Nash
to record a CSNY album, they all started fighting and Stills was acting weird, that s when they figured
out he was taking drugs (Schinder.S and Schwartz.A,2018). Neil Young had joined the Mynah Birds,
and when they were making a record one of his bandmates where arrested for deserting his post in the
U.S Navy (Schinder.S and Schwartz.A,2018). Although it was earlier in his career it still made an
impact on his life. Danny Whitten and Bruce Berry had an overdose and died and that made Neil
Young sad (Stambler.I, 2001). Young was inspired to make a new song after four students got killed
for protesting against racism (Morrison.C, 2006). Neil made a record named Neil Young and was
doing it solo and it did not sell good (Ray.M, 20013). When Young s father dies and he finds out he
has Fatal brain aneurysm he makes an album about it called Prairie Wind (Schinder.S and

Thor And Heroism
Norse mythology is most well known for being extremely associated with stories and legends of
heroes and villains. Although Thor is best known for his mighty hammer, Mjollnir, he is also known
for his effect on nature s control on life and his acts of heroism.
Thor is one of the most famous gods of Norse mythology. He is said to be one of the most loved of the
gods and is often portrayed in an affectionate way as a huge man with lots of muscles, a red beard, and
a big appetite (Wickersham). He is said to be the god of thunder and in legend, it was believed that
whenever there is a bad storm outside, it s because he is battling ice giants (Wickersham). He is also
the son of Odin who is best known as being the all father of Asguard (Odin ... Show more content on

One of his more famous myths which involve is acts of heroism is the one with his combat with
Hrungnir (Polome, Edgar). It starts off when Hrungnir is invited over by Aesir (Uh sur) to drink with
him, Odin, and Thor (Polome, Edgar). However, Hrungnir s obstreperous behavior soon causes sir to
ask Thor for help in getting rid on this unwanted guest (Polome, Edgar). The only thing that was
holding Thor back from helping was that he couldn t since the laws of hospitality prevented the
champion of the gods from sealing his fate right then and there (Polome, Edgar). As a result, Thor
challenged Hrungnir to a single battle at the boundary between Aesir and Jotunheim (the land of the
giants) (Polome, Edgar). Eventually, Thor won the battle and one again helped his friends with his
problem because that is what he felt he must do. The audience can simply see that this is an extreme
act of heroism because Thor knew that he had to help his friend, who had graciously invited him over,
get rid or his unwanted guest. Thor clearly shows that he is thankful by finding a loop hole in his
duties as a champion of the gods to commit this act of heroism and help his friend out. He stuck with
what he thought was right and fought for it. Just like in another more obscure tale of his where he gets
his hammer stolen, he stands by what he knows is right. He went to the hall where the man who stole
his hammer was keeping it and dressed as a lady so that he could steel it back when they placed it on
his lap as part of an old Norse tradition (Wickersham). He has a good sense of justice and knows well
when it must be brought. He clearly knows no boundaries when it comes to hos beliefs and will stop at
nothing to do what he sees fit for any situation. He knows his place as a hero to many and planed to
keep that title as a righteous

Reasons For Japanese American Internment
Reasons for and impact of Japanese American Internment On February 19, 1942, President Franklin
Delano Roosevelt authorized Executive Order 9066. By signing the order, President Roosevelt
directed the secretary of war to put certain zones under military power. The authorization of this order
eventually led to the internment of 110,000 Japanese Americans that had been living in the United
States for years. These Japanese Americans were imprisoned because of their ancestry. The
imprisonment impacted their overall health and resulted in financial disaster. The imprisonment of
Japanese Americans occurred because of their Japanese ancestry. The fear of the Japanese, also known
as Anti Japanese Paranoia, was a direct result of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Many Americans feared
that Japanese descendants would remain loyal to and side with their home country (Japanese
American Internment, 2008). The brink of war being just around the corner clouded American minds
and led to quick decisions. America was paralyzed by fear in the midst of another World War, just
years after the first. Lt. Gen. John L. DeWitt wrote, The Japanese race is an enemy race, and while
many second and third generation Japanese born on United States soil, possessed of United States
citizenship, have become Americanized, the racial strains are undiluted. Like DeWitt, many
Americans felt that all Japanese Americans were a threat, especially the Issei and Nisei. Literally
speaking, the Japanese terms Issei,

Butler County is a predominately Caucasian county, located north of Pittsburgh, in Western
Pennsylvania. The culture of Butler County is shaped by the limited diversity of the area. Much of the
population residing in Butler County are also somewhere between the ages of 18 and 65 (Census
Bureau 2015). The social conflict approach is a framework for building theory that sees society as an
arena of inequality that generates conflict and change (Macionis). Even though society is becoming
more diverse and accepting towards other races and nationalities, Butler County, like everywhere else,
still has trouble with race issues. Comparing Butler County to Allegheny County, Butler is composed
of 96.3 percent white individuals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The varying ages have different interpretations of symbols. Acknowledging the broad age range of 18
to 65, one would realize that there would be different interests of a young college student compared to
a professor getting close to retirement. The Symbolic Interaction Approach is a framework for
building theory that sees society as the product of the everyday interactions of individuals (Macionis
18). Every human has symbols which they often associate with other certain objects or place. One
example of symbolic interaction is social media. Most adolescents use social media to be cool, adults
use it to keep in touch with acquaintances, and the elderly think that social media is a waste of time.
Another example could be going to Alameda Park. Alameda is a park located in Butler Pennsylvania.
Children go to Alameda park for thrill and excitement, parents go to see the happiness their children
experience, while elderly people may reconcile the memories they had as a child. Since a society is
defined as a people who live in a defined territory and share a way of life , different age groups could
potentially be a part of separate societies (Macionis 3). Eventually, the older generation will have
disappeared in Butler County and more liberal views will be installed upon. With the baby boomer
population becoming

  • 2. Cotton Club Segregation There is No Color in Music Throughout the 1920s, the U.S. was experiencing segregation with a decay. African Americans and Caucasians were split, and the social classes were divided by the color of skin. Caucasians were automatically assumed to have a higher social standing than any other ethnicity. This divide was everywhere schools, housing, public amenities, and especially in clubs. The Cotton Club Girls were really the star of the show, even topping the famous Duke Ellington. Peter Baily goes as far as to directly state that the Cotton Club Girls were famous showing just how much importance they carried to The Cotton Club and clientele that was brought in. Historians estimated that this unidentifiable disease killed more than 20 million people in Europe almost one third of the continent s population, by the 1350 s (Black Death). Now in today s society scientists classify the unidentifiable disease as the bubonic plague, also referred to as the Black Death. Boccaccio s resident resided in Florence Italy, where he wrote the Decameron from the years 1348 1353 A.D.. Uncoincidentally, the composure date overlaps with the prime infecting period of the bubonic plague. Boccaccio was a wealthy merchant who produced other literature prior to the Decameron, reflecting moral attributes of Italian society (Encyclopedia Britannica). Also occurring in this time was the transition away from everyday use of the Catholic Church s official language: Latin. The Decameron begins to follow the new trend from other renaissance writers by composing literature in vernacular form. By composing in colloquial literature, or the everyday spoken language of the common people , this reveals Boccaccio s potential audience the commoners, or the whole society, not the specified group of the clergy or Latin readers (Judge and Langdon 359 6). The language of the allegory s composure and publication reveals more than just the intended audience; the Decameron also supports motivation behind Boccaccio s production. If the Catholic Church prompted him to write the story, then the language would correspond with language of the clergy, Latin. The content in the Decameron is not religious based writing, nor propaganda, because this author reveals no signs of exterior influence to write this text. Specifically, quoted by ... Health and Poverty Vulnerable populations including immigrants, Aboriginal peoples, single parent families and the elderly make up a growing percentage of the lower extreme of the socioeconomic scale (Turnbull, J. Podymow T, 2002). While we are quick to consider the costs of aiding the poor, we rarely consider the costs that poverty and income inequality inflict on our society. To achieve improved health, it is critical to improve income security through good jobs, income supports and fairer taxes (Barnes et al., 2013). There are two broad strategies that focus on alleviating the effects of poverty on health: 1) directly reducing poverty and socio economic inequality 2) intervening in pathways connecting poverty and health. These interventions have been identified as upstream and downstream. • 15. The Last Mohicans Conflict Essay Conflicts in The Last Mohicans From the first chapter in James Fenimore Cooper s Leatherstocking Tale The Last Mohicans the evidence of extreme conflict between multiple parties is glaringly obvious. The struggle between the wilderness of the American country and those who endeavored to tame it, the clash between the French and the Colonials/British over the new world territory, the emulation between the various tribes of Indians, and the conflict between the main heroes and villains of the story are all very prevalent in this historic novel. James Cooper shows how the conflicts between these very different groups of people and nature itself has a predominate effect on all who are involved. Cooper s descriptions of the North American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This led to many a battle in which the Indians and Europeans participated. The bloodiest conflict of these was the massacre after the fall of Fort William Henry. The initial conflict that sparked the slaughter after the British had surrendered and abandoned the fort was that between an Indian from the Heron tribe, (They are allies of the French), and a mother with a baby leaving the fort. The inhabitants of the fort had been allowed to leave in a procession, but the gaudy colors of a shawl (180) attracted the eye of a young Heron. He tried to seize it from the mother and when she held it away, he took her babe instead. She then attempted to give the shawl to him, but now uncaring, he dashed the head of the baby against a rock and killed the mother with a tomahawk. Then the Herons leapt upon the previous occupants of the fort and killed them, scalped them, and drank their blood. ...many among them even kneeled to the earth, and drank freely, exultingly, hellishly, of the crimson tide (182). In describing this, Cooper shows the brutal nature of some of the Indians and what happens in the conflicts between them and their enemies. Also the French did not try to stop this act, so it is perceived that they knew about it and it was planned along. This is proof of the hatred of the French against the English, by using their Indian allies to commit this act of terror. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Objections To Realism In The Theories Of International... Objections to Realism Even though realism finds itself deeply rooted in a utilitarian moral framework, critics arise as to such an outlook remains immoral (it is wrong to apply) at best. A major opponent theory is liberalism. Dismissing that conflicts are inevitable, liberals uphold that the spread of legitimate domestic political orders will eventually bring an end to international conflicts.[ Scott Burchill, Liberalism in Theories of International Relations, ed. Scott Burchill (New York: Palgrave, 2001), 35.] This approach involves embedding notions of democracy, human rights, and free trade. As a result, states will avoid ideology clashes and a universal state will emerge. Liberals might repudiate realism on its utilitarian ground: its consequential nature and lack of universal moral code. In this section, I will defend realism against some liberal criticism. First, liberalism disapproves the consequential nature of realism, arguing that it treats human beings as means in political games to secure state power. As Bernard Williams whom liberals would rely on argued that utilitarianism requires impartiality which attacks an individual s integrity.[ Bernard Williams, A Critique of Utilitarianism in Ethics: History, Theory, and Contemporary Issues, ed. Steven M. Cahn and Peter Markie (New York: Oxford University Press, 2016), 559.] Utilitarianism, as William continues, neglects the fact that practical deliberation is in every case first personal, and the first person is not derivative or naturally replaced by the [impersonal] anyone. [ Bernard Williams, Ethics and the Limits of Philosophy (London: Fontana, 1985), quoted in Sophie G. Chappell, Bernard Williams , The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, https://plato.stanford. edu/archives/spr2015/entries/williams bernard/.] Thereby, liberals endorse policies that respect every person s integrity, prioritizing human rights to nation state s competitions of power. A human rights based approach, however, may backfire. Completely banishing the notion of sovereign states might risk more deaths, a fact which compromises the liberal prospect. The 2011 U.S. led military intervention in Libya offers an example. The intervention aimed to save lives of peaceful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Pierre Bourdieu Research Paper Framing the Debate: Bourdieu and Foucault Pierre Bourdieu has constructed his theory on the concept of practice using the metaphor of a game. He states that practice is a mode of generational meta theory of all forms of practices constituting the game (Bourdieu, 1977: 72). Individuals enter the game with predetermined interest and act in conformity to the rules of the game to achieve their desired goals. According to Bourdieu, the rules of the game are subject to changes based on different social conditions referred as fields (Bourdieu, 2000:183). Habitus, in turn, refers to the schematic concept through which practice is generated. Practices generate habitus and are shaped by the condition of life in a certain environment. Hence, specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bourdieu (2000:148) notes that habitus is the practical knowledge generated through its agent s history. Habitus is generated by human living experience at a certain environment where social relations are produced in interaction with a specific habitat. The special determination of habitus as a structural orientation is explained in relation to the idea of fields (Bourdieu, 1984). The field and habitus interact in a two dimensional relationship with the field structuring the habitus, and the habitus in its turn structuring the perception of the field (Bourdieu, 1988: 784). This shows that there has no direct influence on the field, but eventually, habitus operates in a dialectic relationship between structure and the agent. Bourdeau sees the field as a multi dimensional space of positions (Bourdieu 1985: 724) occupied agents who own power in alignment with, what he termed as, their symbolic capital that is identified in the context of the specific material environment (ibid: 731). This dialectic relation as noted by Bourdieu (2000:211) between habitus and the probabilities of a social space provides the space for practice and and thoughts. He points out, one should not say that a historical event determined a behavior but that it had this determining effect because a habitus capable of being affected by that event conferred that power upon it (Bourdieu ... Thus, organizations were created to protect, maintain and monitor this important salmon rearing stream (Stoney Creek Environment Committee, n.d.). A few methods that the organizations utilize to analyse Stoney Creek, is to survey its habitat conditions and test the water quality and quantity (Taccogna et al., 1995). Certain points to note is that there is an abundant variety and amount of vegetation (such as conifers and shrubs) surrounding the creek which provides shade, protection and their roots provide bank stability (Taccogna et al., 1995). Another point to consider is that undisturbed streams will have little to no embeddedness (Taccogna et al., 1995). Unfortunately, our results from the 25 streambed samples suggests 41% embeddedness of gravel and rock, meaning there was some stream disturbance. Coniferous trees are also present which may increase the streams acidity (Taccogna et al., 1995). Again, plentiful vegetation also increases bank stability and decrease risks of erosion which could disturb many sensitive aquatic creatures (Taccogna et al., 1995). What you need in order to be able to survive a pandemic you would really only need to be around your personal family that you live with everyday but sometimes you don t even need to be around your family, because a pandemic is very dangerous and sometimes you wouldn t even know who has the disease or not because there are so many people in this world and sometimes a disease don t have symptoms until weeks or even months later.Water, water, and more water (consider a quality drinking filter and water storage , food storage for all members living in the household (3 months minimum), 5 gallons of bleach per person of the household to sanitize everything, 4 boxes of examine gloves (different sizes for every member of the household), quality n95 masks, antibacterial soap or hand wipes for meticulous hand washing , 100 roll of clear 4 mil plastic and duct tape for setting up an isolation room, hepa filters enough for whole house air filtration, etc. You would need a lot of food stored because if you don t have food you might die because you never know how long a pandemic will be ,you never know sometimes something might go wrong with the water in you house or the pipe you should try to stay clean as possible so pile up as many cleaning supplies as you ... • 33. Iran-Iraq War Essay Iran Iraq War The eight year Iran Iraq War was, by the standards of international conflicts, a very long one. It lasted longer than both World War I and World War II. In this conflict, the two most powerful states in the Persian Gulf, Iran and Iraq, who were the world s largest producers of petroleum, were locked in mortal combat and appeared intent on destroying each other. The war began when Iraq invaded Iran, simultaneously launching an invasion by air and land into Iranian territory on September 1980 and ended with a United Nations brokered ceasefire in 1988. The causes of the war are deeply rooted in the ideology and ambitions of the leaders of the countries to gain and maintain control over internal and regional politics, as well ... Also radical Marxists were still battling the religious fundamentalists in part of the country. Because of all of the above factors, Iraq had a uniquely promising chance to strike a devastating blow at its eastern neighbor, establishing Saddam as the pre eminent leader in the Persian Gulf region and perhaps so discrediting the new Iranian government as to bring about its ultimate downfall. Saddam also wanted to put an end to religious propaganda directed against Iraq s secular regime by the Islamic government of Iran, which had come to power in 1979 under Khomeini. Khomeini, and during the Iranian Revolution, and most Iranian Muslims belonged to the Shiite sect of Islam. Hussein feared that the propaganda would undermine the loyalty of Iraqi Shiites, who comprised about 60 percent of his country s population. On March 1980, Saddam received a pretext to engage in war when an assassination attempt was made on Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz, by Iranian backed rebel group Al Dawaa, followed by the bombing on the funeral procession. When people are close to their retirement or they want to have some work while staying in their homes prefer to become travel agents as it is an exciting job to be chosen after retirement. There are some people who want to do it as a part time business while many people do it full time. Duties of a travel agent A travel agent has a duty to book travel for his clients and as the result, he is paid by the suppliers a good commission on his booking. And if there is any case that supplier don t pay him any commission for, a travel agent also has option to charge the customer a fee for providing his service for his time that he spent in managing his journey programmes. An example is if someone books a hotel for a customer, the hotel management would send a check to an agency after the customer checked out. There are many hotels that pay about 10% of the cost of the hotel before fees and taxes. So, if the price of the hotel is 100 US dollars it means the travel agent will be paid 10 dollars because of the booking he made. I chose my essay topic based on my desire to contribute to creating awareness of simple methods of foodborne disease prevention. Also, I currently work in the healthcare service industry and I am enrolled in Community and Public Health with UoPeople. This topic is directly related to my career. Foodborne illnesses are infections of the digestive tract caused by eating infected foods or drinks. These illnesses are caused by pathogens such as harmful bacteria, parasites, and viruses. Even though people are aware of the importance of cleaning their homes, majority do not comprehend how cleaning can reduce the level of bacteria in their meals. Also, a lot of Americans undercook their meat, chicken, and egg. Most do not understand, or find it difficult to understand the safe food handling instructions on the labels of the products they buy. They even do not keep to the recommended requirements when storing food in their refrigerators. Since proper food storage reduces the rate of bacteria growth, the refrigerator temperature should be set to between 32F and 41F. (Bruhn, 2014, p. 319, 326) However, according to Doyle, et al (2015), there has been reduction in the number of outbreaks and illnesses due to E.coli infections in the past 15 years. This is due to CDC mandate that clinicians conduct laboratory testing and reporting of microbial agents that cause illnesses. As a result, foods highly at risk of getting contaminated are being monitored, inclding natural foods that contain little or no antimicrobial agents (p. 254). Also, clinicians have taken more active role in educating people about ways to prevent or reduce foodborne diseases. He returned and debated endlessly, giving multiple warnings on how the German people were faring under fascism. This perhaps played no small part in the US eventually coming to oppose Germany in the Second World War. Parsons wrote a scathing article entitled New Dark Age Seen If Nazis Should Win , and went on to rally people behind his staunch opposition of Nazi Germany, and fascism, in general; speaking in public, and appearing on the radio as well as helping to initiate the Harvard Defense Committee to further these efforts. At one point during a public appearance, his speech was disrupted by isolation activists, making him realize that if he was to turn the American people towards supporting a US presence in the European war, he would have to first overcome the strong feelings many Americans had in favor of continued isolationism. After WWII, Parsons would go on to socially oppose Communism and all other forms of totalitarian government, and spoke frequently about what he referred to as empirical finalism (cultural and ideological claims as to the correct end of a pattern of value orientation), likening such forms of government to a fundamentalist stance on religion. Parsons also espoused the ideas of American Exceptionalism, which were more than valid at the time, as the United States was on the leading edge of science and technology, in ... If an individual is unhappy with their occupation it may affect other parts of their life. Job satisfaction can be seen in what one wants in a job as to what one has in their current job. Definition of Job Satisfaction Job satisfaction can be defined as an attitude or feeling one can have toward ones job. Job satisfaction is the extent to which people like (satisfaction) or dislike (dissatisfaction) in their jobs. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Job satisfaction is one of the most frequently measured organization variables. Organizations use these measurements to determine how satisfied their employees are and researchers use this information to determine if the job satisfaction or the lack of job satisfaction is a situational perspective or interactional perspective. Organizational commitment is critical to organizations due to the desire to retain a strong workforce. Organizations want to know why employees stay or leave their organizations so if correction is needed they have some tools to proceed with the correction. High turnover of employees in an organization can determine if an organization is successful or not. While turnover is related to all three areas of commitment researchers have determined that Affective commitment is one most associated with absenteeism and organizational citizenship (Williams J. 2004). Example on Organizational Commitment to Positively Impact Job Satisfaction At times employees go to work each day knowing they have to complete the daily task of doing so. However, Hrungnir s obstreperous behavior soon causes sir to ask Thor for help in getting rid on this unwanted guest (Polome, Edgar). The only thing that was holding Thor back from helping was that he couldn t since the laws of hospitality prevented the champion of the gods from sealing his fate right then and there (Polome, Edgar). As a result, Thor challenged Hrungnir to a single battle at the boundary between Aesir and Jotunheim (the land of the giants) (Polome, Edgar). Eventually, Thor won the battle and one again helped his friends with his problem because that is what he felt he must do. The audience can simply see that this is an extreme act of heroism because Thor knew that he had to help his friend, who had graciously invited him over, get rid or his unwanted guest. Thor clearly shows that he is thankful by finding a loop hole in his duties as a champion of the gods to commit this act of heroism and help his friend out. By signing the order, President Roosevelt directed the secretary of war to put certain zones under military power. The authorization of this order eventually led to the internment of 110,000 Japanese Americans that had been living in the United States for years. These Japanese Americans were imprisoned because of their ancestry. The imprisonment impacted their overall health and resulted in financial disaster. The imprisonment of Japanese Americans occurred because of their Japanese ancestry. The fear of the Japanese, also known as Anti Japanese Paranoia, was a direct result of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Many Americans feared that Japanese descendants would remain loyal to and side with their home country (Japanese American Internment, 2008). The brink of war being just around the corner clouded American minds and led to quick decisions. America was paralyzed by fear in the midst of another World War, just years after the first. Lt. Gen.
