Essay on Indentity Loss
In The Odyssey and The English Patient the main character, Odysseus and Almasy, suffer from a form
of identity loss and try to regain it. They both regain their identity through the help of other people.
Every person that stumbles across a piece of their past helps them regain a piece of their identity.
Because he cannot remember Almasy must get help remembering his past from the people around
him. One of his first memories came from the book he brought with him through the fire a copy of the
Histories by Herodotus (Ondaatje pg 16). Hana reads some of the notes that he had written in the
book; she reads of the different winds the , the secret wind of the desert, whose name was erased by a
king after his son died within it. And the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the arboured bedroom the burned patient views great distances (Ondaatje pg 135) in doing so
Almasy, remembers the desert in Africa, he remembers his adventures. In 1930 we had begun
mapping the greater part of the Gilf Kebir Plateau, looking for the lost oasis that was called Zerzura
(Ondaatje pg 135) he remembered many of his other adventures there. All of his memories about Gilf
Kebir Plateau made his think of Katherine, his lost lover.
Odysseus is remembered of his great conquest when he is on the land of the Phaiakians where
Demodokos sings of his conquest. Demodokos tells of the Trojan horse that Odysseus built to trick the
city of Troy and take it over. When Odysseus heard this he melted, and from under his eyes the tears
ran down drenching his cheeks (Lattimore pg 134). The singer had reminded Odysseus of one of his
great achievements that was part of his identity.
Caravaggio forces Almasy to remember most of his past right before the crash when he starts to ask
questions. When you crashed in the desert where were you flying from (Ondaatje pg 167). Almasy had
already remembered that he was once in the Gilf Kebir and what he was doing there but now he had to
remember why he was back there again. I had gone there to collect someone. In late August. Nineteen
forty two (Ondaatje pg 167). Almasy goes on to tell about Katherine and how he had left her there
until he could get help, that was when he got burnt.

Abstract
The removal of phenol from aqueous solution was evaluated by batch method using two ion exchange
resins, Duolite A 171 (DLE 171) (a strong anion exchange resin) and Duolite A 368 plus (DLE 368) (a
weak anion exchange resin) and a nonfunctionalized Duolite S 861 (DLE 861) resin. The maximum
removal capacity was achieved at pH 11. The removal of phenol was found to be in the following
order DLE 171 DLE 368 DLE 861. The mechanism involved in the process was found to be both
adsorption and ion exchange. The resin was characterized using FTIR and SEM with EDAX analysis.
The equilibrium data were fitted to Freundlich isotherm. The kinetics of the sorption was found to
follow pseudo second order and intraparticle diffusion models. The values of thermodynamic
parameters indicate the nature of sorption is spontaneous and exothermic.
Keywords: Removal of Phenol; Polymeric Resins; Duolite A 171; Duolite A 368; Duolite S 171.

Herbert s Dune
Moreover, the dominant theme within Frank Herbert s Dune is the theme of ecology. Not only did
Herbert focus on environmental ecology but, he also included social, political, economic, and
language ecologies. The term ecology deputes one of the basic divisions of biology (Logan 51).
Ecology is the study of the structure and dynamics of the biological processes that compose and
sustain the earth s ecosystem (Logan 52). Within the ecology article, Logan orates the basic premises
of an ecological interpretation which include that all forms of life exist in co dependent relationships,
nature is lively rather than still, stability of nature depends on assortment, and nature is fragile and

There are Messianic symbols, paradise, rituals, and commandments. The Fremen of Arrakis practiced
a religion most commonly related to Hymn to Water which is a direct copy from the Orange Catholic
Liturgical Manual, calling for rain clouds which Arrakis had never seen. There are five religious
beliefs that were dominant within the Imperium and each had major events that shaped their beliefs.
The first was The followers of the Fourteen Sages and whose views are expressed in the
Commentaries and other literature produced by the Commision of Ecumencial Translators (Dune 811).
The second was the Bene Gesserit which denied being a religion but the entire premise of the Bene
Gesserit school was collectively a religion. The third was the agnostic ruling class which included the
Guild. These people though of religion as a mere game to keep the populations obedient. These same
people believed that all phenomena could be diminished to unconscious explanations. The fourth is
the Ancient teachings that have been collectively gathered. An lastly the fifth being space travel. Space
travel gave new ideas to Creation and the feeling of sacred was touched by the outer dark (Dune 813).
The Commentaries had a quote about religion that is still applicable in modern day Much that was
called religion carries an unconscious attitude of hostility toward life. True religion must teach that life
is filled with joys pleasing to the eye of God, that knowledge without action is empty. All men must
see that the teaching of religion by rules and rote is largely a hoax. The proper teaching is recognized
with ease. You can know it without fail because it awakens within you that sensation that tells you this
is something you ve always known (Dune 818). One of the largest symbols of religion within the
novel is the Muad Dib which ended up being Paul Atreide. The Muad Dib is essentially a prophet
which was in accordance with the planets but

Portrayals Of Archaeology
The media has a big impact on today s generation due to its accessibility. Anyone could pick up a
book from the library, stroll along to the movies, or simply go on the web to search for relevant
information happening in today s world. Archaeology is widely used in several forms of media such as
books, comics, television series, movies, and the news. While the media exposes and educates its
audience, can their information be trusted? Although the goal of some news outlets such as Fox News
and CNN is to provide relevant information to their audience, how accurate are those information? In
this paper, we will examine how archaeology is represented in several news outlets such as Fox News,

The Evolution of Democracy in the Early Republic
The evolution of democracy from the time of President Thomas Jefferson to President Andrew
Jackson can be depicted as a minimal change in conceptually agrarian viewpoints and strong
supporters of equality for the common man. While the two men essentially shared many of the same
beliefs and ideas, there was a noticeable difference to how they acted on them and spoke out about
them.
As the nation s third president, Jefferson organized the national government by his own ideals,
doubled the size of the United States, and struggled to maintain American neutrality in the face of ever
increasing pressure. The seventh President of the United States, Andrew Jackson was a general in the
War of 1812 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jacksonian Democracy favored Laissez faire economics over the proactive federal investments
promoted by the opposing Whig Party ( Jacksonian Democracy , 2017).
Jeffersonians believed in equality and rule by the educated. Jefferson believed education would be the
cure of all evils. He said, Educate the people generally, and tyranny and injustice will vanish like evil
spirits at the dawn of day. (Hart, 1898). Jacksonians thought the best way to end corruption was to
allow all the common people to vote and have their say in their government, however both men
clearly demonstrate that their definition of the common man doesn t include minorities.
On the American frontier, democracy became a way of life, with widespread social, economic and
political equality. The system gradually evolved, from Jeffersonian Democracy or the First Party
System to Jacksonian Democracy or the Second Party System and later to the Third Party System
Jeffersonian and Jacksonian Democracy are the same in just about every regard. Their views and goals
as presidents are the same. Both are in favor of the common man and feel that it is the common people
who should have the biggest influence on government, not the wealthy aristocrats. They also support
states rights and feel that the federal government should not get involved with the states affairs. Both
men s actions clearly show that the common man does not include minorities. Both Jackson

Urban Change In The 17th Century
At the beginning of the 17th century, France consolidated military and political power in the aftermath
of the Wars of Religion. The newly throned Henri IV s vision was to create this centralized power in
Paris, and he did so through planning and building monumental projects and rebuilding what had been
lost in the destruction. The Louvre, the Place Royal (now the Place des Vosges), and the Place
Dauphine were all a part of this growth he commissioned. Much of the infrastructure planning was
focused on strengthening the heart of the city, which was centralized around an island on the Seine,
the Île de la Cité. Through mapping information from primary source images, this study explores and
documents the urban changes in the Île de la Cité of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The map from the end of the 17th century shows that most of the bridges on the island followed suit
after the building of the Pont Neuf and got rid of the buildings lining either side and new bridges were
built in the same style as the Pont Neuf. This implies a master planning of the island; the Pont Neuf
created a spatial condition of being open to viewing from all viewpoints that proved to be favorable
for other bridges. This reinforces the idea that the developments on the Île de la Cité were meant to
convey an aesthetic idea that emphasized a new, wholly more beautiful Paris emergent after

Hildegard Von Bingen Reflection Essay
For my film review I decided to watch Vision: The Life of Hildegard von Bingen, (2009). The story of
a 12th century German nun, Hildegard von Bingen (Barbara Sukowa), that was best known for her
visions of God that were written down by Monk Volmar (Heino Ferch) and her fellow nun Richardis
von Stade (Hannah Herzsprung). The film starts off with Hildegard being brought to the cloister as a
young child because she speaks the language of God, although she does not admit this until later in
life when she finally confides in Monk Volmar whom appears to be her closest friend and confidant.
Much of this film appears to deal with her rise and fall from grace with various people because she
stood her ground on the legitimacy of her visions and learnings. This leads to her becoming a
polarizing figure in the Christian world at the time especially to the women that join the cloister to
follow her. But much of the drama and the center of the plot deals with many of the Christian leaders
not following their own teachings, including her. After being brought to the cloister by her mother, a
young Hildegard von Bingen is introduced to the anchoress Jutta of Sponheim (Mariele Blendl) and is
introduced to her daughter that becomes Hildegard s sister. Several years later, after the cloister has
gained a much stronger female following, when Jutta of Sponheim dies, there is an election for a new
Magistra between Sister Hildegard and Sister Jutta (Lena Stolze), which Sister Hildegard wins. After
becoming Magistra, Hildegard begins having stronger visions from the Living Light which she says is
the voice of God. After her first intense vision she brings them up to her friend, Monk Volmar, whom
then persuades her to allow him to write some of them down. He believes in these visions so much
that he brings them to the leader of the cloister, Abbot of Disbodenber (Alexander Held) whom
dismisses them as false at first, but concedes that he does not have the power to deem them as lies and
if they are true, they could bring great fortune and gifts to the cloister. The Abbot then proceeds to
invite higher level priests to come verify the visions, but they too believe them to be false but send it
up to the Archbishop of Mainz, Bernard of

Bat Eared Fox Research Paper
The Otocyon megalotis, or the bat eared fox, is a genus of fox found in two places: Ethiopia, South
Sudan, and Tanzania; and Angola, Rhodesia, and South Africa. They live in savannas and grasslands,
and dig extensive dens. Their name comes from their large ears, which range from 113 to 135
millimeters long. They are distinct from other fox genera because of their unusually numerous teeth
and their yellowish brown bodies. Bat eared fox dens can contain between two and fifteen foxes, but a
den of two is most common. The foxes breed annually during times with more rain and insect density.
Up to six pups can come from one litter, and they are born gray until they change to yellow brown at
three to five weeks old. They are considered adults at

The Pros And Cons Of Slavery In British New York
Slavery in New York under the English rule, compared to the Dutch, was different in the way that
slaves were tolerated, treated and had the ability to be free. The Dutch had a fairer attitude and were
open to helping the slaves find their freedom. On the other hand, when the English took over New
York, their guidelines for the slaves dehumanized them and put legal restrictions around them. Under
the British rule, slaves were treated harshly and weren t allowed to integrate with the other colonists,
compared to the Dutch who were more tolerant and allowed the slaves to have some legal rights.
The British came up with many laws that restricted and oppressed the slaves for their benefit, some of
these laws included, that slaves couldn t own land, couldn t leave their masters houses, and couldn t
gather in a group of more than 3, and if they did, they would be abused, killed or have their limbs cut
off. However, the most important law that essentially ended freeing enslaved people was this, no
enslaved person could be freed without the master paying a £200 bond and promising to pay the
enslaved person £20 a year for life, (UNIT THREE: NEW YORK Resource 21: Laws Affecting Black
Colonials in British New York). This basically assured that the slave s freedom was determined by the
master, which practically made it impossible. According to, Looking at Slavery in New York, Table 3,
New York under the English was the third largest slaveholding colony, containing 16% of all the

Essay on Overcoming my Fear of Roller Coasters
I have this fear that causes my body to shake. When I think about it, my skin becomes pale and cold. It
s death speeding through my mind. Once I have seen these monstrous roller coasters, the only thing in
my mind was fear. Knowing that I m afraid to go on these rides, I didn t want to look like a fool in
front of my friends. My mind is thinking of deadly thoughts. My palms were sweaty and I was
twitching like a fish. I was petrified of heights.
We pulled into the roller coaster park in our Ford Excursion truck. It was me and my dearest friends.
Our stomachs were growling like mountain lions. We haven t had a chance to get something to eat
during the trip. I opened the container of ham and cheese sandwiches and have had three sandwiches

My sense of security is screamingly absent. Their main attraction in the park is called, dragster,

about not being scared and not worrying about anything. The thing is, is that the roller coasters go so
high and fast, with no guard rails on the sides. That places deadly snap shots in my head. While
looking around in my surroundings, seeing huge bulging rocks, a beautiful sky blue lake with swans
swimming and floating mindlessly. We overheard the staff members that were running this killer ride
talking about shutting the ride down. That brought shock into my eyes. I was nervous once again. It
seemed hopeless, as if they were going to shut down the ride because we were the next ones in line.
My friends wanted to go on this ride so bad that we had waited over an hour and a half in this line.
During the last five minutes we had become very paranoid. Wouldn t it be funny if those brakes at the
top weren t working? Joe said, laughing at something that wasn t funny at all. Just shut up, was the
only thing I thought of. All of a sudden we hear this arcade type noise and lights were flashing. The
ride had opened up again. The crowd was yelling and chanting. Everyone was happy.
We were next in line and my friends were telling me not to be scared and close your eyes while you re
going up. This was suppose to make me feel more comfortable and not worrying about the

PROR compaction scheme for larger circuits and longer vectors with deterministic ATPG Suresh k
Devanathan Michael L Bushnell Abstract Reverse order restoration ROR techniques have found great
use in sequential automatic test pattern generation ATPG, esp. spectral and perturbation based ATPG.
This paper deals with improving ROR for that purpose. We introduce parallel fault Multipass 2 level
polynomial reverse order restoration PROR algorithms with constant complexity of the form H(n)G(n)
+ c where H(n) is the number of the vectors to be released this iteration and G(n) is the attenuation
factor. In PROR H(n) = nk and G(n) here is 1−H(n)/no vectors with c about 1 to 64, where n is the
number of iterations, the fault has been hanging around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We introduce PROR, a new variant of ROR type compactors. They are noticeably very fast, and do
have a lower quality trade off with vector length. In general, in this paper, we also present tricks that
we used to tweak our tool. In the end, we present the results. II. ROR Out of the compaction
algorithms, the most useful ones are RORs because unlike omission based sequential compactors, they
take less time and unlike some schemes, they do not use a lot of memory space. The algorithm for a
typical ROR is as follows. Drop all vectors Pick fault with highest detection time Restore vectors from
that time instant If a fault is detected, stop, else keep restoring vectors Move on to the fault of the next
highest detection time Repeat the process until necessary
Differentalgorithmsplayonthisscheme.AnLROR,forexample, restores only one vector at a time and a
radix reverse order restoration RROR scheme restores an exponential number of vectors each instant.
For example, with radix 2, the scheme would restore 1,2,4,8 vectors, etc. RRORs although fast, are
over ambitious, whereas LROR are too slow. The invention of PROR exists to solve these problems.
Unlike fault simulators, which are exact, or have to be consistent with each other, each compactor has
its own flavor. Compaction algorithms are inexact. The only exact thing about them is that their results
have to be verifiable by a fault simulator and that they, in general, have to produce smaller

Jordan Belfort In Martin Scorsese s The Wolf Of Wall Street
Human beings are born with a personally tailored moral compass, but when it comes to Jordan
Belfort, he may not have developed said compass. Martin Scorsese s The Wolf of Wall Street, is a film
that follows closely to Jordan Belfort s memoir of becoming a filthy rich stockbroker. The Wolf of
Wall Street depicts Belfort s rise to riches and fall back to reality, whom is played by Leonardo
DiCaprio. Scorsese has also directed Goodfellas and The Departed, which both proved him to be a
brilliant director. Making a sharp left, Scorsese surprised his fans with The Wolf of Wall Street, as it

Black Monday, the stock market crashed and left Belfort without a job. As he said, Wall Street had
swallowed me up, and shit me back out. Belfort eventually took a job at small investor business where
he sold penny stocks. The penny stocks allowed Belfort to make $72,000 in one month! How you may
be asking? The blue chip stocks he was selling at the large firm only resulted in a 1% commission,
while the penny stocks were 50%. Belfort used his smooth talking to talk poor shmucks into investing
a few thousand dollars and he was able to pocket half. From there Belfort opened his own business,
Stratton Oakmont, with his neighbor Donnie Azoff. Rather than continue selling to the poor, Belfort
targeted the richest of the rich and would open up with the blue chip stocks, and then give the clients
the penny stocks, where stockbroker s earned the money. Stratton Oakmont continued to grow and
eventually made it to Wall Street. Belfort also made money by creating phony accounts and investing
in his own stock, which brought a lot of illegal cash to his door. Although he was a clever business
man, he spent his money ignorantly. Belfort spent money on drugs, prostitutes, yachts, and of course a

The Odd Couple Sparknotes

They were loud when they had to be and they weren t afraid to be bold with what they did. I could tell
what kind of personality each character had. Aria portrayed the role of Olive and she was clearly a
loud character. She was believable as a character. She was a very bold character and I think she stood
out a lot because of that. Andrea played Florence and I think she showed emotion very well, like if she
was upset or happy. I could clearly see what kind of personality she had. I also think that she was a bit
quiet at times. Mackenzie played the role of Sylvie. I also think she did a wonderful job at her role.
She was also clearly a loud person. I think she stood out a lot. I could see both Olive and Sylvie were
good at showing the humor in things they said. They were both also good with emotion. Zoe played
Renee. I think she was good at showing emotion and fit her character well too. Overall, I think it was
just a good part for her personality. Melissa portrayed the role of Mickey and I liked how she showed
attitude very well. She was also loud enough to hear all the time. Lastly, Sarah played Vera and it
seemed like she played her character well. Her acting was good. I thought the acting was very good at
the beginning when Sylvie screamed Olive when they needed help at the game. I liked this part
because she was loud enough to be heard and it seemed like she practiced it enough to be good at it. I
think that added to her character s personality also. You could hear that she seriously wanted Olive to

A milestone for any company is the issuance of publicly traded stock. While the motivations for an

The remaining portion of the gross spread (approximately 20%) is used to cover underwriting
expenses (underwriter counsel, road show expenses, etc.). If anything remains after deducting all
expenses, it is divided proportionately among the underwriter and syndicate members depending on
the amount of securities each underwrote. One of the lead underwriter s first agenda items (usually
before any significant expenses have been incurred) is to draft a letter of intent. Indeed, an important
aspect of the letter of intent is to protect the underwriter against any uncovered expenses in the event
the offer is withdrawn either during the due diligence and registration stage, or during the marketing
stage. Thus, the letter of intent contains a clause requiring the company to reimburse the underwriter
for any out of pocket expenses incurred during the process. Another important aspect of the letter is
the gross spread or the underwriting discount. In most cases, the gross spread is 7% of the proceeds
(see Chen and Ritter, 1998 for an excellent discussion of the uniform size of the gross spread). The
letter also typically includes: a commitment by the underwriter to enter into a firm commitment
agreement (or other underwriting agreements, as the case may be); an agreement by the company to
cooperate in all due diligence efforts, and to make available all relevant

ABSTRACT
The focus of this study was to examine activity based costing from the perspective of competitive
advantage. ABC can support the strategic management process and provide significant benefit to
organizations. This examination utilized the contingency theory as a theoretical basis for the study.
Descriptive survey design was adopted. The data gathering instrument employed for this study is a
structured questionnaire. Data are analyzed through SPSS version 16. Reliability analysis using
Cronbach s alpha value was applied on data collected. Factor analysis was employed using principal
component method followed by Varimax with Kaiser Normalization, to find the factors or dimensions
that explain variances by the data set. The factor analysis is based on four dimensions, namely, overall
performance, strategic cost allocation method, increased efficiency and increased effectiveness having
the factor loadings of over ±0.3. The regression results are positive and significant at the 5% level.
Findings reveal that there is no statistically significant difference in cost reduction attained by ABC
over Traditional costing, though ABC tended to have higher effect.

Ancient Egyptians On The Afterlife
The ancient Egyptians had specific views on the afterlife, which they showed in their art and
architectural work. They are noted for their extensive beliefs regarding the soul of the dead that they
would spend time and effort in constructing quality funerary objects. Funerary objects of which those
who were alive would be conscious of, especially since the objects were involved in rituals the living
would take part in. During the middle kingdom, Egyptians would do a pilgrimage to Abydos in upper
Egypt to participate in a festival that honored Osiris, God of the underworld. Stelae would be
displayed in chapels in the city that partook in the celebration of Osiris.
(http://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/544320) Amongst those stelae was the Stela of the
Steward Mentuwoser (figure 1), which depicted a funerary banquet to an honorary official during the
second intermediate period of the twelve dynasty. Senusret I presented this painted limestone stela to
Mentuwoser while he was alive in order to show his appreciation for his work, and to ensure him that
the presence of his image during a festival would bring upon nourishment and rebirth of his ka, an
individuals spiritual entity. Stela of Steward Mentuwoser is dated 1944 BCE. It depicts Mentuwoser s
son, daughter, and father all honoring him differently. Mentuwoser s son directs his spirit, while his
daughter kneels before him holding a lotus flower. Above them is Mentuwoser s father who is offering
the food and jugs.

Symbolism And Communication In Hills Like White Elephants,...
For some people, there isn t a lot of thought to difficult decisions that have to be made. Some people
are able to decide certain, crucial things, without feeling pressure or any stress. However, there are
some people who are very indecisive and very hesitant to make difficult decisions. Hills Like White
Elephants, by Ernest Hemingway is a story about a distant couple struggling to make a demanding,
challenging agreement about an operation that needs to be done. Identified only as the girl/Jig and the
American, the couple sit down at a bar and try a new drink, something they do often, while the
American subsequently brings up the operation. It is clear that the operation is definitely what he
wants, however the girl isn t sure and is very indecisive about what she wants. In Hills Like White
Elephants , Hemingway utilizes symbolism and characterization to reveal the complexity of difficult
decision making and communication to illustrate that in a relationship one must effectively
communicate in order to avoid unnecessary distance. Hemingway utilizes the symbolism of white
elephants to illustrate the difficulties of decision making and lack of communication in a relationship.
After primarily seeing the comparison in the hills and white elephants, the girl changes her
perspective. They re lovely hills , she said. They don t really look like white elephants. I just meant the
coloring of their skin through the trees. Should we have another drink? Alright (Hemingway 2).

Advantages Of Tourism Essay
Theme: Tourism
A very good morning to our English for Effective Communication lecturer, Madam Pushparani
Anthony and fellow friends. In this wonderful morning, I would like to give a talk on Tourism . In my
speech, I am going to share with you some information on the beauty of Malaysia and the advantages
and the disadvantages of tourism towards the development of Malaysia. Basically, tourism is a
practice of travelling for pleasure especially on one s holidays. It is an organized journey where
several places are visited. When it reaches the time to decide the location for your holiday, most
probably you will be choosing a foreign country such as Korea, Japan, China or European countries
like Germany, France, United Kingdom and Italy. Since we are born in Malaysia and have been living
here for years, it is understandable why most of us willing to choose foreign country as the destination
for our holidays trip instead of domestic tourism. It is true that you may be experience a whole
different culture and lifestyle in others counties, but do not forget, Malaysia is also one of the most
beautiful and fascinating tourism destinations of South East Asia. As we already knew, Malaysia has a

Reflection On Volunteer Service

Volunteer Service Reflection I have volunteered at multiple facilities such as MD Anderson, Habitat

constantly do volunteer work due to the company I work for, Gap Inc. has an organization for
employees Be What s Possible and donates money for the hours I volunteer to the non profit
organization of my choice. My good friend is part of the education department here at UHD and said
that some students from other classes were volunteering at juvenile facilities and I was intrigued,

But in reality, some of the teachers just let go of what the students say even if it is disrespectful, while
others were very caring and some were extremely strict. After getting to talk and know some of them,
I can tell they are good kids deep down. They have ambition and dreams just like everybody else,
some even talked to me about wanting to become engineers and wanting to attend the University of
Houston someday. They are also very respectful boys, they would help me carry my desk over next to
the teacher and they would help me pass out textbooks and they would always say please and excuse
me. I believe that deep down these boys made mistakes but they are on the verge of correcting them
and eventually getting themselves straightened out. During my time there I did a lot of observing,
helped the teacher grade some papers and tried to help the students with their work. I also got to
answer a lot of their questions and curiosity they had about college and what it was like. During class
there is always a teacher and there was Mr. Rhodes for behavior purposes, if one of the students
misbehaved he would take them out of the classroom and talk to them. He was also very close to the
students, there was a clear bond between them. During lunch he would always put on the football
channel and they would just watch and chat. Even though the teachers and Mr. Rhodes are strict and
demanding with the students, I believe that is what really helps motivate them. Some of them

Jigsaw Vs 3 Movies
In the past 10 years, it seems that every film coming out in the summer is a new film to start a
franchise, or yet another sequel in a franchise universe. Hell, there are films in low budget horror
franchises that are going on their 3rd films. I don t even want to mention there s yet another Saw film
called Jigsaw that is due to be released pretty soon.
Just as I predicted the downfall of 3D films in 2015, I predict that the major success of franchise films
will eventually wither away for a good while. Why? A good thing can only last so long before people
get tired of it. Do you love pizza? Of course you do. Would you love to work at a pizza place where
you get to eat pizza all the time? Hell yeah you would. But after a few months you ... Show more

That is a terrible start for a cinematic universe with the help of Tom Cruise.
What movies we did get this year were some fantastic original films. Baby Driver, Dunkirk, The Big
Sick, and Wind River. All of these films made a lot of money each, and they all got phenomenal
reviews. Why? Because people didn t know what to expect. You can go into a Marvel film and be
wowed by the visuals, but you know they re all paint by numbers with different paint brushes.
Not only are those original films crushing it at the box office, an increasingly growing movement of
horror films are cleaning up at the box office. Like IT, small budget horror films can bring in the
crowds with little money. The movie The Conjuring made $318 million on a budget of $20 million (I
get that it has become a franchise, but they re still low budget and earn major bucks). The movie
Annabelle made $256.9 million on a budget of $6.5 million. I couldn t tell you one person who stars,
wrote, or directed any of those movies. There are a dozen more examples, but you get my point.
What further makes these franchise films start to get weighed down with costs are the actors. No one
really cares about A list actors anymore in films. I don t go see a superhero film because of a certain
actor is in it, no, I go and see it because of the action and comic book story. Have you heard about any
films beyond Iron Man that Robert Downey Jr. did that did well in theaters

Brutus Is A Tragic Hero And A Sympathetic Figure
Julius Caesar is a play about people who make mistakes costly ones, for themselves and their country
(Julius Caesar, Introduction line 1). This quote is from the first line of the introduction to the play of
Julius Caesar and I think that this line is the best way to start off this essay. If we took a look at each
main character in this play, except for Antony, we can see how their mistakes usually would lead to
their downfalls. For example, Caesar mistake of not listening to the warnings, the omens, or even his
wife telling him to stay home because she had a nightmare about him, led to his death at the Senate.
Another example would be Cassius. His mistake of listening to Brutus when it came to marching
down to Philippi to face Antony and Octavius s army led to the defeat of his army and Cassius
committing suicide. Now we come to the main focus of this essay which is Brutus. Some people argue
that Brutus is a tragic hero and a sympathetic figure. Others argue the opposite. I believe that Brutus
noble qualities led to his ignoble downfall which included failure, loss, and shame. While we read
through this play we can see many examples of Brutus failures. Different occasions where he was
manipulated by people he called his friends, Brutus being too trusting of others, and his sense of honor
blocking his common sense. It s safe to say that he is simple minded and in a way a coward. In this
essay I am going to first do an inspection of Brutus, a breakdown his

Religious Freedom Policy Paper
A topic of great controversy is that of religion and the freedoms that are and are not associated with it.
The first amendment of the Constitution states that Congress shall make no law of respecting an
establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. The State of Indiana has a Senate
Bill that is titled the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which contains a law that consents
individuals and companies to assert that their exercise of religion has been, or is likely to be,
substantially burdened as a defense in legal proceedings (Cohn). As this is obviously a commonly
debated issue, there are many points for and against the policy. Governor Mike Pence singed the

The issue of legalizing same sex marriage is one thing, but denying service to someone because of
their sexual orientation is a completely different topic. I think that denying a person a marital
ceremony could be because of religious beliefs. However, a person s sexual orientation does not affect
any other person, nor does it affect the way they should be served or treated in a public setting. The
United States is a free country so people should be able to express themselves however they want to.
If an employee is given the ability to deny service to a person because of something this small, people
will eventually be able to deny service to people for all kinds of pointless reasons. We should be
uniting together as a state and giving fair treatment to all citizens, instead of discriminating and only
offering certain services to people who we see worthy of receiving them. I believe that the government
should continue working to get this law vetoed to eliminate more problems in the

reading this paper from the internet has the right to know that someone thousands of miles away could

which all things are monitored by the government and an individual s right to privacy is breached for

In pursuit of a serious threat, it is understandable that some information such as that might be useful.
Many people will argue that the current capabilities of different agencies are constitutional and are for
the country s benefit; some have the belief that what they don t know can t hurt them. Maybe
government does have the right to obtain what they want for their discretion, and we should trust that
they will not abuse that power. It is true that the people of America do not know the plans of various
government agencies, and perhaps it is best that we accept that and let them do their work. Besides,
just imagine all of the terrorist attacks and other incidents that will be prevented by these national
security measures. While all these points are logical, they re missing the point. Ignorance is not bliss,
and a privacy invasion such as one that is occurring now cannot continue. These national security
measures are slowly eating away our basic freedoms and liberties. We cannot just let this pass by and
become blasé on the matter; it needs to be understood that there is a limit to what is acceptable and
that is, what is necessary? The government does not need to know what websites people are visiting,
and it does not need the phone records of millions of Americans. These current government

Danger Of Stroke Essay
Stroke:
A stroke is a sudden loss of brain function. It is caused by the interruption of flow of blood to the brain
(ischemic stroke) or the rupture of blood vessels in the brain (hemorrhagic stroke). The interruption of
blood flow or the rupture of blood vessels causes brain cells (neurons) in the affected area to die.
The effects of a stroke depend on where the brain was injured, as well as how much damage occurred.
A stroke can impact any number of areas including your ability to move, see, remember, speak, reason
and read and write.
Here are six steps anyone can take to reduce the risk and the danger of stroke:

Following market research that was conducted in 2005, analysts discovered that there was no

discovered that this lack of trend was caused by the uniformity in label design across all flavors

Mental Health And Substance Use Disorder
Serious mental illness (SMI) impacts a person s thinking, mood, capability to maintain relationships,
and overall ability to maintain normal activities of daily living. Treatment is necessary for all
individuals with a serious mental illness. Along with family and friends, the community is impacted
when supportive treatment options cannot be obtained by a person with a SMI. The Omaha/Council
Bluffs metropolitan area, along with the state of Nebraska, have challenges to overcome to ensure this
population is adequately cared for. Any person with a mental health issue have a lot to overcome.
Undoubtedly, the state of Nebraska needs to stay on track to help them overcome these obstacles.
Starting in 1996, Congress passed The Mental Health Parity Act of 1996 and the Balanced Budget Act
of 1997, designating mental health and substance use disorder services be improved (Mann, 2013).
The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA) expanded mental health and
substance use disorder benefits to include parity laws at the state level (Beronio, Po, Skopec, Glied,
2013). These laws, in accordance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), have
helped 16.4 million uninsured people to obtain health insurance coverage including those with a
serious mental illness (Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, 2015).

Julius Caesar Pride Quotes
John C. Maxwell once said Leaders who fail to prune their pride will meet demise. That s not a guess,
it s a guarantee. With pride, it s not a matter of if we will fall, but when. There are no exceptions. This
quote Maxwell says shows how influential pride is and how it can/will lead to someone s downfall.
Pride is a signal of destruction. This can be shown a lot throughout the play The Tragedy of Julius
Caesar by William Shakespeare. In the play, Julius Caesar shows his pride many times and this leads
to his demise. Examples include when he talks about threats, danger, and the northern star. Pride can
make people very stubborn, and when Calpurnia is trying to protect Caesar; he dismisses this.
Calpurnia has just told Caesar about a dream she has where she fears his death is near. Another time
he shows his pride is when he tells Calpurnia how these warnings of his death are nothing to be afraid
of. He says, The things that threatened me ne er looked but on my back. When they shall see the face

Social And Psychological Factors Of Gang Membership Essay
Gang membership has accounted for the increase in the number of youth and street gangs since the
1950 s. The development of gangs globally, especially in New Zealand, exhibits the fact that there are
significant influences pushing people towards becoming a gang member. There is a range of social and
psychological factors that underpin the dynamics of a gang s structure in which they help outsiders
gain insight into how gang involvement is evoked. Research has established that there are push and
pull factors to what we associate with the theory of multiple marginality. This theory tackles how
groups feel after being left on the boundaries of society, an action that consequently encourages them
to become involved in deviant behavior. The growth in gangs, predominantly those with a heavy
Maori influence such as the Mongrel Mob and Black Power has caused controversy as to whether
multiple marginality impacts and is solely responsible for this issue. There may be no single reason
behind a spike in gang membership however; having the ability to understand the role of social and
psychological factors is needed if we seek to address this concern. This alone is a key aspect in
addressing the development of present gangs and why they are becoming more dominant in society.
Theory of Multiple Marginality
Multiple marginality can be defined as living on the boundaries of society, therefore not being
influenced and following the norms of society expectations. It is important

like the principle, or more commonly, the students. Generally, with other jobs as well, money is
always top of mind. When Kontje talks to employees, she concluded, These employees want to do
better with their money. They know they should be saving for retirement. The know the need to have
an emergency fund. They just don t know where to start. Money and the economy is a huge stress
factor. No matter what job one has, they are constantly worried about how to pay the bills or planning
out their spendings, vacations and if there is enough money for it. Although, The American
Psychological Association (APA) has released its latest Stress in America report, with some good
news to report. Overall, average stress levels in the US are trending downward. Nearly three quarters
of the people surveyed said they had stressed about money at some point in the last month, while only
a quarter said they are stressed about money most or all of the time. Stress levels are decreasing, but
that still leaves more than half of workers stressed. No matter how low stress levels decrease, people
will always have stress.

Rural Poverty Stricken County Of Hale County
Hale County
Hale County, considered one of the most poverty stricken rural counties in Alabama. Located in the
west section of Alabama. Hale County shares borders with Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Perry, Marengo, and
Greene counties. Hale County once referred to as the Black Belt was once known for its rich soil and
crop production. Currently the cash produce is catfish. The county has a lot of catfish ponds. The
switch to catfish farms allowed the county to move away from producing cotton. The county is named
after Confederate Officer Stephen Hale who died during the Civil War. The county was established in
1867. The goal of this essay is to inform readers about rural poverty stricken county of Hale.
According to the 2013 Census, there were 15,760 people residing in Hale County. Breakdown consist
of 59.0% were African American, 39.8% Caucasian, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% Native American, 0.3% of
unknown race and 0.6% of mixed race 0.9% were Hispanic or Latino (www.archives.state.al.us).
Census information from 2000 is higher, the population then was 17,185. The county is losing
community members due to the lack of jobs. Many articles suggest jobs are the only thing causing
people to leave Hale County. Research shows that many enjoy the communities, the schools and their
neighbors. The thought of relying on neighbors is somewhat comforting but, a practice of the past.
Many feel they should leave and seek higher goals.
The median income for a household in the county was $25,807,

Rehabilitation of the Felony Offender Essays
In 2009 nearly three quarters of a million offenders were released from prisons and jails in the United
States, and it is estimated that roughly half of them will reoffend within three years of being released
and will return to prison (Katel 1005). Most of these individuals, who are non violent, low level
offenders, have little education, job experience, limited social skills and a drug or alcohol dependence
(May and Pitts 21). That coupled with the fact they have a criminal record, reduces their chances of
finding suitable housing or a decent job. Like it or not this affects all of us in one way or another. As
taxpayers, we pay the costs of the justice system, incarceration, and there is the issue of public safety.
This problem is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, all this did was to promote violence among the inmates. In the 1900s, the courts stepped in and
made major changes in the way prisons would operate. It was also becoming clear that incarceration
alone was not the answer, and support grew for prisoner rehabilitation (May and Pitts 19 20). In the
1970s and 80s there was a large increase in crime mostly due to increased drug trafficking. By 1990,
the crime rate in the U.S. had more than quadrupled. Tough on crime laws with mandatory minimum
sentences were passed, and this put more offenders in prison for longer terms. This did result in the
crime rate dropping, but by 2003, there were over two million inmates serving sentences in the U.S.
jails and prisons. In 2007, 750,000 inmates were released back into society. At the same time, about
720,000 offenders (96%) were being admitted into the prison system, and it costs about 47 billion
annually to run the prison system in the U.S. (Katel 1005 1008). Something has to be done as this
problem is going to get worse not better. Our justice system is obviously broken and needs a major
overhaul. I ask you, doesn t it make more sense to try and successfully rehabilitate felony offenders
when possible? Should we just keep building jails to hold all of these offenders or should we offer
them a true second chance in society after their time has been served? Let us take the state of
Pennsylvania for example. In the last thirty years the states inmate

The Evolution of Democracy in the Early Republic The evolution of democracy from the time of President Thomas Jefferson to President Andrew Jackson can be depicted as a minimal change in conceptually agrarian viewpoints and strong supporters of equality for the common man. While the two men essentially shared many of the same beliefs and ideas, there was a noticeable difference to how they acted on them and spoke out about them. The newly throned Henri IV s vision was to create this centralized power in Paris, and he did so through planning and building monumental projects and rebuilding what had been lost in the destruction. The Louvre, the Place Royal (now the Place des Vosges), and the Place Dauphine were all a part of this growth he commissioned. • 8. Hildegard Von Bingen Reflection Essay For my film review I decided to watch Vision: The Life of Hildegard von Bingen, (2009). The story of a 12th century German nun, Hildegard von Bingen (Barbara Sukowa), that was best known for her visions of God that were written down by Monk Volmar (Heino Ferch) and her fellow nun Richardis von Stade (Hannah Herzsprung). The film starts off with Hildegard being brought to the cloister as a young child because she speaks the language of God, although she does not admit this until later in life when she finally confides in Monk Volmar whom appears to be her closest friend and confidant. Much of this film appears to deal with her rise and fall from grace with various people because she stood her ground on the legitimacy of her visions and learnings. This leads to her becoming a polarizing figure in the Christian world at the time especially to the women that join the cloister to follow her. But much of the drama and the center of the plot deals with many of the Christian leaders not following their own teachings, including her. After being brought to the cloister by her mother, a young Hildegard von Bingen is introduced to the anchoress Jutta of Sponheim (Mariele Blendl) and is introduced to her daughter that becomes Hildegard s sister. Several years later, after the cloister has gained a much stronger female following, when Jutta of Sponheim dies, there is an election for a new Magistra between Sister Hildegard and Sister Jutta (Lena Stolze), which Sister Hildegard wins. After becoming Magistra, Hildegard begins having stronger visions from the Living Light which she says is the voice of God. After her first intense vision she brings them up to her friend, Monk Volmar, whom then persuades her to allow him to write some of them down. He believes in these visions so much that he brings them to the leader of the cloister, Abbot of Disbodenber (Alexander Held) whom dismisses them as false at first, but concedes that he does not have the power to deem them as lies and if they are true, they could bring great fortune and gifts to the cloister. The Abbot then proceeds to invite higher level priests to come verify the visions, but they too believe them to be false but send it up to the Archbishop of Mainz, Bernard of ... They live in savannas and grasslands, and dig extensive dens. Their name comes from their large ears, which range from 113 to 135 millimeters long. They are distinct from other fox genera because of their unusually numerous teeth and their yellowish brown bodies. Bat eared fox dens can contain between two and fifteen foxes, but a den of two is most common. The foxes breed annually during times with more rain and insect density. • 10. The Pros And Cons Of Slavery In British New York Slavery in New York under the English rule, compared to the Dutch, was different in the way that slaves were tolerated, treated and had the ability to be free. The Dutch had a fairer attitude and were open to helping the slaves find their freedom. On the other hand, when the English took over New York, their guidelines for the slaves dehumanized them and put legal restrictions around them. Under the British rule, slaves were treated harshly and weren t allowed to integrate with the other colonists, compared to the Dutch who were more tolerant and allowed the slaves to have some legal rights. The British came up with many laws that restricted and oppressed the slaves for their benefit, some of these laws included, that slaves couldn t own land, couldn t leave their masters houses, and couldn t gather in a group of more than 3, and if they did, they would be abused, killed or have their limbs cut off. However, the most important law that essentially ended freeing enslaved people was this, no enslaved person could be freed without the master paying a £200 bond and promising to pay the enslaved person £20 a year for life, (UNIT THREE: NEW YORK Resource 21: Laws Affecting Black Colonials in British New York). We introduce PROR, a new variant of ROR type compactors. They are noticeably very fast, and do have a lower quality trade off with vector length. In general, in this paper, we also present tricks that we used to tweak our tool. In the end, we present the results. II. ROR Out of the compaction algorithms, the most useful ones are RORs because unlike omission based sequential compactors, they take less time and unlike some schemes, they do not use a lot of memory space. The algorithm for a typical ROR is as follows. Drop all vectors Pick fault with highest detection time Restore vectors from that time instant If a fault is detected, stop, else keep restoring vectors Move on to the fault of the next highest detection time Repeat the process until necessary Differentalgorithmsplayonthisscheme.AnLROR,forexample, restores only one vector at a time and a radix reverse order restoration RROR scheme restores an exponential number of vectors each instant. For example, with radix 2, the scheme would restore 1,2,4,8 vectors, etc. RRORs although fast, are over ambitious, whereas LROR are too slow. The invention of PROR exists to solve these problems. Unlike fault simulators, which are exact, or have to be consistent with each other, each compactor has its own flavor. Compaction algorithms are inexact. The only exact thing about them is that their results have to be verifiable by a fault simulator and that they, in general, have to produce smaller ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If anything remains after deducting all expenses, it is divided proportionately among the underwriter and syndicate members depending on the amount of securities each underwrote. One of the lead underwriter s first agenda items (usually before any significant expenses have been incurred) is to draft a letter of intent. Indeed, an important aspect of the letter of intent is to protect the underwriter against any uncovered expenses in the event the offer is withdrawn either during the due diligence and registration stage, or during the marketing stage. Thus, the letter of intent contains a clause requiring the company to reimburse the underwriter for any out of pocket expenses incurred during the process. Another important aspect of the letter is the gross spread or the underwriting discount. In most cases, the gross spread is 7% of the proceeds (see Chen and Ritter, 1998 for an excellent discussion of the uniform size of the gross spread). • 20. Symbolism And Communication In Hills Like White Elephants,... For some people, there isn t a lot of thought to difficult decisions that have to be made. Some people are able to decide certain, crucial things, without feeling pressure or any stress. However, there are some people who are very indecisive and very hesitant to make difficult decisions. Hills Like White Elephants, by Ernest Hemingway is a story about a distant couple struggling to make a demanding, challenging agreement about an operation that needs to be done. Identified only as the girl/Jig and the American, the couple sit down at a bar and try a new drink, something they do often, while the American subsequently brings up the operation. It is clear that the operation is definitely what he wants, however the girl isn t sure and is very indecisive about what she wants. In Hills Like White Elephants , Hemingway utilizes symbolism and characterization to reveal the complexity of difficult decision making and communication to illustrate that in a relationship one must effectively communicate in order to avoid unnecessary distance. Hemingway utilizes the symbolism of white elephants to illustrate the difficulties of decision making and lack of communication in a relationship. After primarily seeing the comparison in the hills and white elephants, the girl changes her perspective. They re lovely hills , she said. They don t really look like white elephants. I just meant the coloring of their skin through the trees. Should we have another drink? Alright (Hemingway 2). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I don t even want to mention there s yet another Saw film called Jigsaw that is due to be released pretty soon. You can go into a Marvel film and be wowed by the visuals, but you know they re all paint by numbers with different paint brushes. Not only are those original films crushing it at the box office, an increasingly growing movement of horror films are cleaning up at the box office. • 24. Brutus Is A Tragic Hero And A Sympathetic Figure Julius Caesar is a play about people who make mistakes costly ones, for themselves and their country (Julius Caesar, Introduction line 1). This quote is from the first line of the introduction to the play of Julius Caesar and I think that this line is the best way to start off this essay. If we took a look at each main character in this play, except for Antony, we can see how their mistakes usually would lead to their downfalls. For example, Caesar mistake of not listening to the warnings, the omens, or even his wife telling him to stay home because she had a nightmare about him, led to his death at the Senate. Another example would be Cassius. His mistake of listening to Brutus when it came to marching down to Philippi to face Antony and Octavius s army led to the defeat of his army and Cassius committing suicide. Now we come to the main focus of this essay which is Brutus. Some people argue that Brutus is a tragic hero and a sympathetic figure. Others argue the opposite. I believe that Brutus noble qualities led to his ignoble downfall which included failure, loss, and shame. While we read through this play we can see many examples of Brutus failures. Different occasions where he was manipulated by people he called his friends, Brutus being too trusting of others, and his sense of honor blocking his common sense. It s safe to say that he is simple minded and in a way a coward. In this essay I am going to first do an inspection of Brutus, a breakdown his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The development of gangs globally, especially in New Zealand, exhibits the fact that there are significant influences pushing people towards becoming a gang member. There is a range of social and psychological factors that underpin the dynamics of a gang s structure in which they help outsiders gain insight into how gang involvement is evoked. Research has established that there are push and pull factors to what we associate with the theory of multiple marginality. This theory tackles how groups feel after being left on the boundaries of society, an action that consequently encourages them to become involved in deviant behavior. The growth in gangs, predominantly those with a heavy Maori influence such as the Mongrel Mob and Black Power has caused controversy as to whether multiple marginality impacts and is solely responsible for this issue. There may be no single reason behind a spike in gang membership however; having the ability to understand the role of social and psychological factors is needed if we seek to address this concern. This alone is a key aspect in addressing the development of present gangs and why they are becoming more dominant in society.
