A novel method is proposed for image segmentation based on probabilistic field theory. This model assumes that the whole pixels of an image and some unknown parameters form a field. According to this model, the pixel labels are generated by a compound function of the field. The main novelty of this model is it consider the features of the pixels and the interdependent among the pixels. The parameters are generated by a novel spatially variant mixture model and estimated by expectation-maximization (EM)-
based algorithm. Thus, we simultaneously impose the spatial smoothness on the prior knowledge. Numerical experiments are presented where the proposed method and other mixture model-based methods were tested on synthetic and real world images. These experimental results demonstrate that our algorithm achieves competitive performance compared to other methods.

Enhancement of genetic image watermarking robust against cropping attackijfcstjournal
The enhancement of image watermarking algorithm robust against particular attack by using genetic
algorithm is presented here. There is a trade-off between imperceptibility and robustness in image
watermarking. To preserve both of these characteristics in digital image watermarking in a logical value,
the genetic algorithm is used. Some factors were introduced for providing robustness of image
watermarking against cropping attack such as the Centre of Interest Proximity Factor (CIPF), the
Complexity Factor (CF) and the Priority Coefficient (PC).

GRAY SCALE IMAGE SEGMENTATION USING OTSU THRESHOLDING OPTIMAL APPROACHJournal For Research
Image segmentation is often used to distinguish the foreground from the background. Image segmentation is one of the difficult research problems in the machine vision industry and pattern recognition. Thresholding is a simple but effective method to separate objects from the background. A commonly used method, the Otsu method, improves the image segmentation effect obviously. It can be implemented by two different approaches: Iteration approach and Custom approach. In this paper both approaches has been implemented on MATLAB and give the comparison of them and show that both has given almost the same threshold value for segmenting image but the custom approach requires less computations. So if this method will be implemented on hardware in an optimized way then custom approach is the best option.

Image Segmentation Using Two Weighted Variable Fuzzy K MeansEditor IJCATR
Image segmentation is the first step in image analysis and pattern recognition. Image segmentation is the process of dividing an image into different regions such that each region is homogeneous. The accurate and effective algorithm for segmenting image is very useful in many fields, especially in medical image. This paper presents a new approach for image segmentation by applying k-means algorithm with two level variable weighting. In image segmentation, clustering algorithms are very popular as they are intuitive and are also easy to implement. The K-means and Fuzzy k-means clustering algorithm is one of the most widely used algorithms in the literature, and many authors successfully compare their new proposal with the results achieved by the k-Means and Fuzzy k-Means. This paper proposes a new clustering algorithm called TW-fuzzy k-means, an automated two-level variable weighting clustering algorithm for segmenting object. In this algorithm, a variable weight is also assigned to each variable on the current partition of data. This could be applied on general images and/or specific images (i.e., medical and microscopic images). The proposed TW-Fuzzy k-means algorithm in terms of providing a better segmentation performance for various type of images. Based on the results obtained, the proposed algorithm gives better visual quality as compared to several other clustering methods.

Colour Image Segmentation Using Soft Rough Fuzzy-C-Means and Multi Class SVM ijcisjournal
Color image segmentation algorithms in the literature segment an image on the basis of color, texture, and
also as a fusion of both color and texture. In this paper, a color image segmentation algorithm is proposed
by extracting both texture and color features and applying them to the One-Against-All Multi Class Support
Vector Machine classifier for segmentation. A novel Power Law Descriptor (PLD) is used for extracting
the textural features and homogeneity model is used for obtaining the color features. The Multi Class SVM
is trained using the samples obtained from Soft Rough Fuzzy-C-Means (SRFCM) clustering. Fuzzy set
based membership functions capably handle the problem of overlapping clusters. The lower and upper
approximation concepts of rough sets deal well with uncertainty, vagueness, and incompleteness in data.
Parameterization tools are not a prerequisite in defining Soft set theory. The goodness aspects of soft sets,
rough sets and fuzzy sets are incorporated in the proposed algorithm to achieve improved segmentation
performance. The Power Law Descriptor used for texture feature extraction has the advantage of being
dealt in the spatial domain thereby reducing computational complexity. The proposed algorithm is
comparable and achieved better performance compared with the state of the art algorithms found in the
literature.
Explanation of the paper "Felzenszwalb, Pedro F., and Daniel P. Huttenlocher. "Efficient graph-based image segmentation." International Journal of Computer Vision 59.2 (2004): 167-181."
This is one of the most cited paper in computer vision, It describes an O( N logN ) algorithm for image segmentation.
Object tracking is one of the most important problems in modern visual systems and researches are
continuing their studies in this field. A suitable tracking method should not only be able to recognize and
track the related object in continuous frames, but should also provide a reliable and efficient reaction
against the phenomena disturbing tracking process including performance efficiency in real-time
applications. In this article, an effective mesh-based method is introduced as a suitable tracking method in
continuous frames. Also, its preference and limitation is discussed.
Gait Based Person Recognition Using Partial Least Squares Selection Scheme ijcisjournal
The variations of viewing angle and intra-class of human beings have great impact on gait recognition
systems. This work represents an Arbitrary View Transformation Model (AVTM) for recognizing the gait.
Gait energy image (GEI) based gait authentication is effective approach to address the above problem, the
method establishes an AVTM based on principle component analysis (PCA). Feature selection (FS) is
performed using Partial least squares (PLS) method. The comparison of the AVTM PLS method with the
existing methods shows significant advantages in terms of observing angle variation, carrying and attire
changes. Experiments evaluated over CASIA gait database, shows that the proposed method improves the
accuracy of recognition compared to the other existing methods.

Design and implementation of video tracking system based on camera field of viewsipij
The basic idea of this paper is to design and implement of video tracking system based on Camera Field of
View (CFOV), Otsu’s method was used to detect targets such as vehicles and people. Whereas most
algorithms were spent a lot of time to execute the process, an algorithm was developed to achieve it in a
little time. The histogram projection was used in both directional to detect target from search region,
which is robust to various light conditions in Charge Couple Device (CCD) camera images and saves
computation time.
Our algorithm based on background subtraction, and normalize cross correlation operation from a series
of sequential sub images can estimate the motion vector. Camera field of view (CFOV) was determined and
calibrated to find the relation between real distance and image distance. The system was tested by
measuring the real position of object in the laboratory and compares it with the result of computed one. So
these results are promising to develop the system in future.
Stereo Correspondence Algorithms for Robotic Applications Under Ideal And Non...CSCJournals
The use of visual information in real time applications such as in robotic pick, navigation, obstacle avoidance etc. has been widely used in many sectors for enabling them to interact with its environment. Robotics require computationally simpler and easy to implement stereo vision algorithms that will provide reliable and accurate results under real time constraint. Stereo vision is a less expensive, passive sensing technique, for inferring the three dimensional position of objects from two or more simultaneous views of a scene and there is no interference with other sensing devices if multiple robots are present in the same environment. Stereo correspondence aims at finding matching points in the stereo image pair based on Lambertian criteria to obtain disparity. The correspondence algorithm will provide high resolution disparity maps of the scene by comparing two views of the scene under the study. By using the principle of triangulation and with the help of camera parameters, depth information can be extracted from this disparity .Since the focus is on real-time application, only the local stereo correspondence algorithms are considered. A comparative study based on error and computational costs are done between two area based algorithms. Evaluation of Sum of absolute Difference algorithm, which is less computationally expensive, suitable for ideal lightening condition and a more accurate adaptive binary support window algorithm that can handle of non-ideal lighting conditions are taken for this study. To simplify the correspondence search, rectified stereo image pairs are used as inputs.

Sensitivity of Support Vector Machine Classification to Various Training Feat...Nooria Sukmaningtyas
Remote sensing image classification is one of the most important techniques in image
interpretation, which can be used for environmental monitoring, evaluation and prediction. Many algorithms
have been developed for image classification in the literature. Support vector machine (SVM) is a kind of
supervised classification that has been widely used recently. The classification accuracy produced by SVM
may show variation depending on the choice of training features. In this paper, SVM was used for land
cover classification using Quickbird images. Spectral and textural features were extracted for the
classification and the results were analyzed thoroughly. Results showed that the number of features
employed in SVM was not the more the better. Different features are suitable for different type of land
cover extraction. This study verifies the effectiveness and robustness of SVM in the classification of high
spatial resolution remote sensing images.
Hybrid medical image compression method using quincunx wavelet and geometric ...journalBEEI
The purpose of this article is to find an efficient and optimal method of compression by reducing the file size while retaining the information for a good quality processing and to produce credible pathological reports, based on the extraction of the information characteristics contained in medical images. In this article, we proposed a novel medical image compression that combines geometric active contour model and quincunx wavelet transform. In this method it is necessary to localize the region of interest, where we tried to localize all the part that contain the pathological, using the level set for an optimal reduction, then we use the quincunx wavelet coupled with the set partitioning in hierarchical trees (SPIHT) algorithm. After testing several algorithms we noticed that the proposed method gives satisfactory results. The comparison of the experimental results is based on parameters of evaluation.
Detection of Dense, Overlapping, Geometric Objects gerogepatton
Using a unique data collection, we are able to study the detection of dense geometric objects in image data
where object density, clarity, and size vary. The data is a large set of black and white images of
scatterplots, taken from journals reporting thermophysical property data of metal systems, whose plot
points are represented primarily by circles, triangles, and squares. We built a highly accurate single class
U-Net convolutional neural network model to identify 97 % of image objects in a defined set of test images,
locating the centers of the objects to within a few pixels of the correct locations. We found an optimal way
in which to mark our training data masks to achieve this level of accuracy. The optimal markings for object
classification, however, required more information in the masks to identify particular types of geometries.
We show a range of different patterns used to mark the training data masks, and how they help or hurt our
dual goals of location and classification. Altering the annotations in the segmentation masks can increase
both the accuracy of object classification and localization on the plots, more than other factors such as
adding loss terms to the network calculations. However, localization of the plot points and classification of
the geometric objects require different optimal training data.

NUMBER PLATE IMAGE DETECTION FOR FAST MOTION VEHICLES USING BLUR KERNEL ESTIM...paperpublications3
Abstract: Many recent advancements have been introduced in both hardware and software technologies. Out of these technologies, we gain a lot of interest in Image Processing. As the eccentric identification of a vehicle, number plate is a key clue to discover theft and over-speed vehicles. The captured images from the camera are always in low resolution and suffer severe loss of edge information, which cast great challenge to existing blind deblurring methods. The blur kernel can be showed as linear uniform convolution and with angle and length estimation. In this paper, sparse representation is used to identify the blur kernel. Then, the length of the motion kernel has been estimated with Radon transform in Fourier domain. We evaluate our approach on real-world images and compare with several popular blind image deblurring algorithms. Based on the results obtained the supremacy of our proposed approach in terms of efficacy.

The project presents recognize of an aircraft in satellite image using template matching for accurate detection
and tracking. High resolution multispectral satellite images with multi-angular look capability have tremendous
potential applications. Here the system involves an object tracking algorithm with three-step processing that
includes moving object estimation, target modelling, and target matching. Potentially moving objects are first
identified on the time-series images. The target is then modelled by extracting both spectral and spatial features.
In the target matching procedure, template will be used as matching model to recognize with each frame by
frame for accurate detection. Here, normalized cross correlation and spatial features are used as features
model for recognition. This recognition model will be continued for all sequence of satellite images.

I. INTRODUCTION
The identification of objects in an image. This process would probably start with image processing
techniques such as noise removal, followed by (low-level) feature extraction to locate lines, regions and possibly
areas with certain textures. However, automatic aircraft recognition is not a simple problem. Besides the
complex structure, different aircraft differ in size, shape, and color, and even for one kind of aircraft, the texture
and intensity are usually dissimilar in different scenarios. Moreover, recognition often suffers from various
disturbances such as clutter, different contrasts, and intensity inhomogeneity. Thus, the robustness and
resistance to disturbance are highly required for the method.
The clever bit is to interpret collections of these shapes as single objects, e.g. cars on a road, boxes on a
conveyor belt or cancerous cells on a microscope slide. One reason this is an AI problem is that an object can
appear very different when viewed from different angles or under different lighting. Another problem is
deciding what features belong to what object and which are background or shadows etc. The human visual
system performs these tasks mostly unconsciously but a computer requires skilful programming and lots of
processing power to approach human performance. Manipulating data in the form of an image through several
possible techniques. An image is usually interpreted as a two-dimensional array of brightness values, and is
most familiarly represented by such patterns as those of a photographic print, slide, television screen, or movie
screen. An image can be processed optically or digitally with a computer.
II. PRINCIPAL COMPONENT ANALYSIS
PCA is a mathematical procedure that uses an orthogonal transformation to convert a set of
observations of possibly correlated variables into a set of values of linearly uncorrelated variables called
principal components. The number of principal components is less than or equal to the number of original
variables. This transformation is defined in such a way that the first principal component has the largest possible
variance (that is, accounts for as much of the variability in the data as possible), and each succeeding component
in turn has the highest variance possible under the constraint that it be orthogonal to (i.e., uncorrelated with) the
preceding components. Principal components are guaranteed to be independent only if the data set is jointly
normally distributed. PCA is sensitive to the relative scaling of the original
variables. Depending on the field of application, it is also named the discrete Karhunen–Loève transform (KLT),
the Hotelling transform or proper orthogonal decomposition (POD).

2) Subtract the mean
3) Calculate the covariance matrix
4) Calculate the eigenvectors and eigen values of the covariance matrix
5) Choosing components and forming a feature vector
6) Deriving the new data set.
The singular value decomposition of X is X = WΣVT
, where the m × m matrix W is the matrix of eigenvectors
of the covariance matrix XXT
, the matrix Σ is an m × n rectangular diagonal matrix with nonnegative real
numbers on the diagonal, and the n × n matrix V is the matrix of eigenvectors of XT
X. The PCA transformation
that preserves dimensionality (that is, gives the same number of principal components as original variables) is
then given by:
YT
= XT
W
= V ∑T
WT
W
=V ∑T
V is not uniquely defined in the usual case when m < n − 1, but Y will usually still be uniquely defined. Since W
(by definition of the SVD of a real matrix) is an orthogonal matrix, each row of YT
is simply a rotation of the
corresponding row of XT
. The first column of YT
is made up of the "scores" of the cases with respect to the
"principal" component, the next column has the scores with respect to the "second principal" component.
III. IMAGE SEGMENTATION
Image segmentation is a process of partitioning an image into nonintersecting regions such that each region is
homogeneous and the union of two adjacent regions is not homogeneous. Thresholding based methods can be classified
according to global or local thresholding and also as either bi-level thresholding or multi thresholding.
For the aforementioned facts, we decided to consider the nonparametric and unsupervised Otsu’s thresholding method.
3. Aircraft Recognition in High Resolution Satellite Images
www.theijes.com The IJES Page 23
The Otsu’s thresholding method may be recommended as the simplest and standard method for automatic
threshold selection, which can be applied to various practical problems. Although the Otsu’s thresholding
method is usually applied to images with a bimodal histogram, it may also provide a meaningful result for
unmoral or multimodal histograms where a precise delineation of the objects present on the scene is not a
requirement. The key concept behind this method is to obtain an optimal threshold that maximizes a function of
the threshold level. The optimal threshold is selected by a discriminant criterion, in order to maximize the
separability of the resultant classes in gray levels. The procedure utilizes only the zeroth- and the first-order
cumulative moments of the gray level histogram.
The equations involved are as follows:
The threshold is selected that minimizes the intra-class variance (within class variance), defined as a
weighted sum of variances of the two classes and between class variance are,
σ B = ωB ( μ0 – μ1 )
2
+ ωB ( μ1 – μr )
2
σ B = ω0 σ 0 + ω1 σ1
Where,
σB – Between class variance and σW – Within class variance
σ0 , σ1 , σT are variances for target, background and images.
μ0 , μ1 , μT are mean for target, background and image.
P(i) is the probability
W0, W1 are the probabilities of target and background
The means are determined by,
μ0
μ1
ω0 I = ω(k)
ω0 I = ω(k)
Thresholding is a very simple form of segmentation. A threshold is defined, and then every pixel in an
image is compared with this threshold. If the pixel lies above the threshold it will be marked as foreground, and
if it is below the threshold as background. The threshold will most often be intensity or color value. Other forms
of thresholding exist where the threshold is allowed to vary across the image, but thresholding is a primitive
technique, and will only work for very simple segmentation tasks.
Thresholding is a non-linear operation that converts a gray-scale image into a binary image where the two
levels are assigned to pixels that are below or above the specified threshold value. In this method the selection
of initial threshold value is depends upon the histogram of an image and the gray scale of an image.
IV. AIRCRAFT DETECTION
An Aircraft from the satellite images are detected using templates matching. It is a technique in digital
image processing for finding small parts of an image which match a template image. A sliding window over
other image sequences is used to indicate the possible presence of the reference target. A regional feature
matching operator is applied to find the similarity between the target model and the pixels within the window.
The lebelled component from segmentation module will be applied to extract the region features to describe its
characteristics. Here correlation coefficient will be used to measure the similarity between two different objects
for target detection and tracking.
4. Aircraft Recognition in High Resolution Satellite Images
www.theijes.com The IJES Page 24
C.Correlation Coefficient: It is used to find the similarity between two different objects with their region
features. It will be described by,
Cor_coef = [sum(sum(u1.*u2))] /[sqrt(sum(sum(u1.*u1))*sum(sum(u2.*u2)))];
Where, u1 = F1 – mean of F1, u2 = F2 – mean of F2
F1 – Feature set1 and F2 – Features set2

VI. CONCLUSION
The project presented the aircraft recognition from satellites images for surveillance application with an
Otsu segmentation and template matching model. The tracking system provides the result with low
computational complexity and better accuracy. Morphological and connected component analysis was utilized
effectively for enhancing a segmented regions and tracking target objects. Finally the simulated result was
shown that better efficiency achieved with chosen techniques and methodologies.
