Automatic Contribution Arrament
Hello,
An Automatic Contribution Arrangement is a feature in a retirement plan that allows the Bank to
enroll an eligible employee in the Bank s 401(k) plan unless the employee elects otherwise. Enroll
in this context means that part of the employee s per tax wages are contributed to the 401(k) plan
on the employee s behalf.
A retirement crisis can be seen looming on the horizon. Countless financial writers have interviewed
analysts and actuaries documenting studies showing a large percentage of American workers will
be financially unprepared for retirement. The effects will be devastating for an aging population
facing increasing life expectancies. The cost to the U.S. economy and to those still working to
support the financially

The Stroop Effect Essay
The Stroop effect is demonstrated by the reaction time to determine a color when the color is
printed in a different color s name. Participants respond slower or make more errors when the
meaning of the word is incongruent with the color of the word. Despite knowing the meaning of the
word, participants showed incapability of ignoring the stimulus attribute. This reflects a clear
instance of semantic interference and an unfathomed failure of selective attention (Stroop, 1935).
In the study of the female chimpanzee Lana, the authors tested the Stroop like effect with an animal
to gather evidence from a nonverbal organism to provide additional information about the role of
compatibility between response latency and performance accuracy. ... Show more content on

Consistent with over selective attention, psychopath offenders displayed reduced Stroop
interference on the separated color word Stroop and picture word Stroop tasks relative to offenders
who were not psychopaths. However, psychopath offenders displayed normal Stroop interference
on the standard color word Stroop. This information suggest a circumscribed attention deficit in
psychopaths that hinders the use of unattended information that is (a) not integrated with
deliberately attended information and (b) not compatible with current goal directed behavior (Hiatt,
Schmitt, Newman, 2004).
In another study, five experiments were conducted to determine if coloring a single Stroop element
reduced automaticity or slowed the processing of a color. The results demonstrated that indeed it
slowed processing of congruent and neutral stimuli more than it slows processing of incongruent
stimuli (Monahan, 2001).
In experiment 1, participants were instructed to press a key to determine if the stimulus was red,
blue, yellow, or green. On the second half of the experiment, the stimulus appeared in grey with
only one colored letter which was positioned randomly. Error rates for the experiment were
below 2.5% for each condition, which is quite low. Experiment 2 was the same as experiment 1
except that there were 114 data collections instead of 288 and there were 36 practice trials instead
of 72. According to experiment 1 and 2 it is suggested that the effect of

Taking a Look at Asian Women Stereotypes
1.Explicit yellowface is that it creates power imbalance between white and Asian/Americans.
That it is okay for racial masquerading and playing yellowface, as well as adopting
characteristics and behaviors. 2.Implicit yellowface is that only Asians are type cast for these
roles and unfortunately, someone has to play the role and most the time it is the Asian actor.
This assumption states that Asians/Americans are interchangeable all Asians are the same. 1.By
regulating Camptowns by the US military and by Korea (Yuh 18), women were tested for STI s
twice a week (Yuh 24). The US military police created this system where if women tested
positive they were not informed nor were they informed on who gave them the infection (Yuh
29). These women were harassed by both sides American and Korea for proof that they were
tested (Yuh 29). 2.Another example is the US soldiers viewed these women as entertainers. In
Vietnam, an installation of prostitution servicing four thousand US soldiers was specially
created by and for the benefits of the US soldiers (Yuh 16). The bases will make/have
Camptowns, bars, and parlors near so it is easier for GIs to go there. Therefore, it creates and
feeds the culture of the sex industry and slavery. GI s have this pre misconception of Korean
women and Asian women. They believed these women enjoyed their job as much as the money
they earned because East Asian women are these hypersexual addicts. In fact, they were seen as
exotic however,

Maple Wood Research Paper
Maple is most commonly associated with the production of syrup, not primarily with smoking
food. Sugar maple trees are tapped for their sap, which is reduced to make maple syrup and
reduced even further to make maple sugar. The sugar contained in the wood is thought to enhance
its value as a smoking wood.
Which tree do maple wood chips come from?
Maple trees are native to Asia but can also be found in Europe, Africa and North America. There
are about 128 species of maple tree. The wood from maple trees is classified as a hardwood,
which means that it is dense and relatively dry when compared to the wood from softwoods.
Wood from softwood trees like redwood and cedar can be highly resinous. Resinous woods cause
creosote build up and can give foods an unpleasant taste. How does smoking with maple wood
chips impact taste? How is it unique?
Maple wood is said to give ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has more in common with fruit woods like cherry and apple than with stronger flavored woods
like hickory or mesquite. It is perfect when used in combination with the more flavorful woods
as you can use it to tone down their harshness and to give them a little sweetness. Note that while
maple wood does give out a lot of white smoke when you first put it on the coals, it will quickly be
replaced by the light blue smoke you want from your wood chips. Which foods work best with the
maple wood chip flavor?
Maple wood s sweetness is thought to be best for pork and poultry and will pair well with their
flavors. This is because those meats are milder and maple wood enhances their flavors without
canceling them out the way a stronger tasting wood might. Maple wood does an especially good
job when used to smoke hams. If you pair it with another mild smoke wood like alder, you can
use maple wood chips to smoke fish like salmon and trout. Maple is also used by some to smoke
cheeses, often in combination with other mild

Propagation Medium Porosity and Ficus pumila Propagation Success
Introduction:
Creeping fig (Ficus pumila) is a perennial vining plant native to Asia (Liang et al., 2012). The
creeping fig has been used for many centuries in Chinese folk medicine to treat a host of illnesses
including but not limited to inflammation, diabetes, dizziness and high blood pressure(Liang et al.,
2012). The fruits have also been harvested for their natural pectin s, which are extracted in water
to create a thick liquid that is considered a Chinese delicacy (Liang et al., 2012). Ficus pumila is
widely used in the land scape to control erosion on sloped ground. Its growth habit being low

This experiment investigated the effects of various propagation media on rooting success in Ficus
pumila, the results of this experiment will allow propagators to make more educated evaluations of
the media they use in the propagation of commercial crops, increasing propagation success, and
ultimately increase the quantity and quality of the plants propagated leading to higher economic
return.
Materials and Methods: The physical properties of bulk density, water holding capacity and
aeration porosity of various soilless media were determined with the following experiment to create
a baseline for further interpretation of the effects of media on rooting.

Olaudah Equiano, The Interesting Narrative of the Life Olaudah Equiano or Gustavus Vassa, The
African. Written by Himself. (London: The Project Gutenberg eBook, 2005)
In his book, The Interesting Narrative of the Life Olaudah Equiano or Gustavus Vassa, The African.
Written by Himself, Olaudah Equiano describes his life from the time he was captured and
enslaved at a young age to his journey to freedom. Throughout his book he recalls his culture back
in Africa and compares it with the strange, and obscure observations of his experience during his
time as a slave. Equiano sometimes struggles with his thoughts on slavery and his particular
situations sometimes contradict his judgments. During his time as a slave, Equiano faces a
journey that challenges him mentally, physically, and spiritually. Through his journey, Equiano
finds that the pathway to freedom is through intellectual development, and his new religious
finding of God through the bible. To make his argument, Olaudah Equiano starts his narrative by
describing the village he was from and their customs so that his readers can understand his
background. Equiano was from the village where in his culture manners are simple, and
luxuries are few . (53) His village is known as Essaku in the Kingdom of Benin, Africa. In his
village, Equiano was not aware of those who did not look like him. He had never heard or seen of
white people. Though he did not know of white people, he already

Disadvantages And Impacts Of The Railways In India
EARLY IMPRESSIONS:
Undeterred by oddities and abhorrence generated from within and outside, the railways has
steamed ahead ceremoniously since its inception in 1853. It has completed a glorious 162 years,
enjoyed the best and worst times during its long history starting with the British Colonoial Raj to
the present. Through history, the railways have been deemed a calamity and a boon . Romesh
Chandra Dutta, critic of the British Raj in Indian, described the railways as wasteful expenditure
and a hazardous and dangerous venture . Karl Marx wrote: I known that the English sultocracy
intends to endow India with the railways with the exclusive view of extracting at diminished
expense the cotton and other raw materials for their manufacturers. However, the railways were
also regarded as a preventive measure against famines and the only affordable means of transport
available for the masses. Lord Dalhousie fully supported the railway project and suggested that any
loss incurred would be cheerfully borne by the British government. ... Show more content on

One might disagree about the extent of its initial contribution to the developing economy, but
nobody can deny the fact that the railways assumed the status of a lifeline for the national
economy much before the dawn of Independence in India. The railways probably went out of
fashion for a decade or two in the second half of the 20th century in Europe because of its over
burdened programmes and expenditure and tough competition. But within India, the railways are
regarded as the cheapest and most convenient mode of transport and is used by citizens through the

Borderlands By Gloria Anzaldua Analysis
Borders Beyond the Borderlands.
There are many concepts that Gloria Anzaldua discusses in Borderlands/La Frontera: The New
Mestiza, but there are two that stuck out: linguistic terrorism, nephantla, and la facultad. These
concepts have affected Women such as ElviraPrietoo and Norma Cantu to write from their
personal experiences. To embrace their roots, they came from and never forget the events that
shaped them into the women they are today. Perhaps expand a bit on your introduction. For
instance, offer some context of Borderlands and the other two texts and then teases / a tease / the
tease out what it is you will discuss the themes of memory and identity a bit more.
Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza by Gloria Anzaldua is full of personal narratives
detailing the visible and invisible borderlands that exist within a race, gender, sexuality, and
spirituality. Her essays and poems are based on her own personal experiences as a Chicana and
lesbian activist. Through her writing, she challenges the true definition of the borderlands as more
than a simple line that divides different cultures. It calls for those who are oppressors to change
their attitudes and show support to those of the borderlands. By writing in both English and
Spanish she expresses how one language would not be enough to describe her Chicana literature.
Anzaldua refers to the word Borderlands as the area which is in a state of limbo between Mexico
and the United States. It is a place that is

Week #10 (11/3) Flying Fish Farm:
This farm was very interesting to me. The aquaponics were super cool, as that is always
something I have been interested in. A teacher I had in high school experimented with
aquaponics, but it was on a much smaller scale. Her system was not as successful though, as she
struggled with some diseases. The owner of Flying Fish seemed much more successful. This is
super cool to see new processes working for people. Another unique aspect of his farm was that
he did a lot of seedlings. That way he could sell the plants as a product. He said he sold his plants
to places like Earth Fare, which is very cool. Another unique thing was the popcorn that he grew. I
have never had popcorn right from the cob, and I would like to try it sometime after hearing the

Unemployed people, pensioners, and women with babies climb through smashed supermarket

This only led to the rest of the population becoming involved, however, as thousands of middle
class citizens joined the fray (Ximenez). Nelli Mai, an unemployed 62 year old psychologist said,
the poor people had detonated something, and it was up to us in the middle class to continue and
finish it (Rohter 6).
Almost immediately, residents of middle class neighborhoods in Buenos Aires went to their
windows and began a noise protest by banging pots and pans, a traditional form of protest
throughout Latin America. Before long, their rage still unsatisfied, protesters spilled into the streets
by the thousands and began marching to the Plaza de Mayo. At the seat of government, known as
the Casa Rosada (Pink House), and on Congress and Los Olivos, the president s residence,
protesters chanted the name of their country (Rohter 6). For many it was the sound of the Argentine
Revolution.
Largely middle class demonstrators swarmed key landmarks and blocked main thoroughfares across
Buenos Aires. As protesters demanded the resignation of the unpopular de la Rua, police were
forced to clear the peaceful demonstration (Gardner 9). In the Plaza de Mayo, which has seen some
of the bloodiest and most historic moments in Argentina s rocky political past, officers swung
batons, fired rubber bullets and tear gas, and aimed water cannon (see illustration 1) on the throngs
of demonstrators besieging the Casa Rosada.

Character Analysis of Stanley Stanley was a boy in middle school who was overweight. He got
teased, was cursed, and unlucky. Could his life get worse? In fact, it did and he was accused of a
crime he did not commit. He got sent to Camp Green Lake where he had a chance to change his
life. Stanley was cursed from his great great grandfather who stole a pig. Later in Stanley s life,
Stanley goes through many difficult times. Throughout Louis Sachar s novel, Holes, Stanley is
characterized as unlucky, overweight, and weak, but by encountering people, changes, and

After all this happened at Stanley s years at school, Stanley got arrested and got sent to Camp
Green Lake where he had to dig holes, which he was very weak which made it difficult. He tried
to jam [the shovel] into the earth, but the blade banged against the ground and bounced off
without making a dent (page 26). When you jam a shovel into the earth, something has to come
out. Stanley did this, but he did not even leave a dent in the earth, which shows he is weak and
not that good of a digger. After going to camp and digging many holes, he met a boy named,
Hector Zeroni (Zero), and he slowly had a friend relationship with Zero. As a result of
encountering Zero, Stanley significantly changed. Stanley eventually became friends with
Hector and had a loyal and kind relationship. [Stanley] could think of no reason why Zero would
dig his hole for him (page 95). Since Zero dug Stanley s hole, it starts a tiny friend relationship.
This shows Stanley and Zero s relationship because Stanley now knows how Zero is and that
makes Stanley change by making him nicer. Zero shows how nice people can be. After they
become friends, Zero is very loyal to Stanley. All he could do was wait for it to be over. Then,
suddenly, Zigzag was off of him. Stanley managed to look up, and he saw that Zero had his arms
around Zigzag s long neck (page 135). Zero is standing up for Stanley which shows that Zero is

1.1 Aim
This report will investigate the USA blizzard of 2016 and about how it was caused, the social,
environmental and economic impacts that is cause and how the disaster was managed. The report
will make recommendations for the future management of blizzards.
1.2 Background
A blizzard is a type of atmospheric hazard and is a long lasting snow storm with intense snowfall
and strong winds. For a blizzard to form, warm air rising and moister is needed to create clouds for
precipitation to occur. As windmoves across a body of water (ocean, lake), some of the water

Positive Youth Development Programs
A positive youth development program is designed to help young adults overcome their challenges
and live up to their full potential. Youth development is emphasized through different activities
which helps the youth emotionally, physically, and socially. Youth development programs are
basically used to help them regain confidence, and how to bounce back to a normal life. My
program name is Helping Hands, which will be based on abused youthin African American public
schools. The motto for my program is Not all hands are helpful, but our hands are guaranteed
life changers. When organizing a program knowing the population, how it works, and its
essentials are mandatory for a successful youth development program. The name of my youth
development program is called Helping Hands. This program will focus on abused youth in
African American public schools, grades 9th 12th. This program will focus on these grades
because a lot of the youth feel like they can deal with things like this on their own. If needed, we
also help any other youth who aren t it in grades 9 12. The phrase No child is left behind not only

Welders Essay
Welders are a large part of the construction industry. Welders build frames for large buildings and
things like bridges. Welders build support frames for many things. They put together car frames
and piece together pipes for gas lines and oil field work. Welders could be called pipefitters,
boilermakers, and ironworkers. Welders must have 500 hours a labor put in before a holiday to
get a paid holiday. Paid holidays include Memorial Day, labor day, 4th of July, thanksgiving,
Christmas day, and new year s day. Welders don t have many off days. Your employer needs you
to show up to work. If you don t show up to work you cost the company you work for time and

The three main types of welding are tig, mig, and stick welding. There is also underwater welding
which isn t as common because its much more dangerous. Mig welding is when a wire electrode

points affected and advanced the lives of many people and the different time period they lived in.
The Renaissance and the Scientific Revolution both were major turning points because they both
have a huge impact on the advancement of people s life and their knowledge.
The Renaissance was huge turning point that impacted society since it changed the daily and
social life of many people. During the 14th century, Italy became a place that is very powerful
with business and had strong political powers because it was a huge trading center. This started an
time where Italy and some of Europe became prosperous in economics which is called as The
Renaissance. There was many causes to the Renaissance but the one cause is the influence from
Greeks and Romans since Ancient Greece studied history and are famous historians, it influenced
people to do the same. Another important cause is that people embrace the idea of human and life
is more important than religion. This also led to people shifting their focus from religious belief to
secular ideas. People also really wanted to accomplish their own achievements with their own
power. Lastly, a disease known as The Black Death is also a cause since it ended the system of
feudalism and allowed people to find new ways to climb up the social class especially in places

Dualism Argument Analysis
The mind body is made up of physical and mental properties. The physical properties have a certain
weight, shape, etc., and are publicly accessible (Osmundsen, 2016), whereas, with the mental
properties there is a raw qualitative feel to have a mental state (Osmundsen, 2016). These two
properties cause many problems within human life, however there are five major problems arising
about the mindand body. The majority of people do not put enough thought into these problems, but
they are very important to understand. This paper will include those five different complications
with the mind and body, give an argument for dualism, give a response for the argument, and
include an opinion for the argument that is stronger and why it is stronger.
There are five different mind body problems which include, free will, qualia, intentionality, unity of
consciousness, and personal identity. The first problem is how a physical brain can generate a
free choice. Free decisions have the ability to be good or bad, because one can determine to make
a decisions that will benefit their life or ruin their life. The next problem is qualia which is, how
can a physical brain enable an individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Unlike head on and rear end collisions where there is plenty of car separating you from the other
vehicle or object, there is only the roof structure to keep the car occupant area intact in a rollover
crash. In addition, the seat and shoulder belt is less effective at injury prevention in rollovers
because of the complex tumbling motion. For these reasons, rollover accidents have a high fatality
rate compared to other accident types. However, rollover accidents are avoidable. Here are five
suggestions on their prevention:

stories meet death in the end, and that death symbolizes their freedom from the world and society

During Chopin s childhood, she experienced the years of the Civil War in St. Louis, and during that
time, many federal soldiers invaded the privacy of homes and carried off neighbors for
incarceration (Bonner 111). Therefore, Bonner insist that, With the war as context, it is easy to see
how Chopin the writer could see the violation of home and community as parallels for the violation
and restriction of the self in the institution of marriage (111). Through the writings of Kate Chopin,
such as in The Story of an Hour, the readers, especially in modern times learn of the height that the
women s right movement has reached since the 19th century. In addition, modern readers also
obtain the knowledge and understand the perspective that women in the 19th century have and
what freedom meant for them. As people compare and contrast the differences of the rights women
had in the 19th century to the present 21st century, there has definitely been a massive change.
Women certainly lost much more freedom in the past rather than today, when they start a marriage
and marriage was conceived in a different manner in the past. Though America has gotten very far
into the movement of women s rights and there have been many changes towards freedom that an
individual has, these cages that Kate Chopin s The Story of an Hour present still somewhat exists

Similarities Between Sale And The Crucible
If you were granted the power of authority above others, how would you control it? The Crucible
is mainly about how Abigail accuses many innocent people in Salem of witchcraft and working for
the devil. This event leads to the hanging of many people simply because of Abigail s vengeance
against Elizabeth in order to get together with John, although in the end Abigail gained nothing.
Miller, the author of The Crucible is trying to convey the message that in times of chaos, people
may be blinded from the truth, making the truth indistinguishable the from the many lies. The
events that take place in the play The Crucible are comparable to the events of Rosa ParksBus
Boycott, because both events depict how power is gained through the course of your actions.
One cold evening in the December of 1995, Rosa Parks refused to give her seat up to a white
male on her bus ride back from work. Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat led to her getting
arrested by James Blake, a white man who demanded that her along with 3 other black women
move from that area. Rosa Parks being arrested caused new issues to arise. The African
American people protested as they felt they were not being treated as equally as the white
people. Parks could be described as a brave woman who stood behind changing racism and
segregation in the world. Back then, segregation was a huge problem against the white people, but
as a result of her actions, Rosa Parks received recognition and respect from both

Anorexia Nervosa Is A Disorder Characterized By Abnormal...
Anorexia nervosa is a disorder characterized by abnormal eating behaviors. People with anorexia
have a fear of gaining weight which causes them to try and maintain a low weight. They will do
anything to prevent weight gain. This includes starvation and exercising too much. They do this
because not only do they have the fear of gaining weight they have a distorted body image which
means even if they are extremely thin they will believe that they are overweight. (Ehrlich, 2015).
Anorexia is not really about food and weight at its core. Many eating disorders are much more
complicated than that and they run a lot deeper than just appearance. The real cause of the disorder
could be depression, loneliness, insecurity or feeling out of control. Typically, things that just
weight loss cannot cure. (Smith and Segal, 2015). It is an emotional disorder that focuses on food.

have known that my life was going to be full with sadness and mourning, but in life everyone has
to...die On Sunday morning, I woke up with the same thoughts and the same yelling from my
parents for the past 12 years. Seriously, I would rather be deaf then hear my parents yell, make
sure you clean the barn out when we are gone and feed the cows . I slowly went down stairs with
my shoulders down and a hideous look on my face. My pale, face showed how disappointed was
with my unpleasant life. As soon as I got down stairs, the box I had put out in the kitchen was
there just waiting for me to pick it up. I finally realized that I did not have enough time to do all of
my chores when my parents came back. Quickly, I grabbed the brown, crinkly box from the bottom
with my boney, cold hands and picked it up the best I could. Every step I looked carefully to make
sure I didn t fall. I kept the box inside my room so I could know where it was and that I could keep
track of it. It was noon and my parents were still not back

Cost Effectiveness Of The Surgical Treatments For Tn
Several studies have compared the cost effectiveness of the surgical treatments for TN. Both
Holland et al(57) and Pollock et al(5) conducted small studies in which they found that MVD
produced a higher number of quality adjusted pain free years and was more cost effective than
SRS. In Holland s study, while radiofrequency rhizotomy was found to be the most cost effective
treatment, 74% of patients experienced a recurrence in pain. Sivakanthan et al(24) found that
MVD produced a QALY gain of 8.2 at 5 year follow up while SRS was 4.9 QALYs gained. With
MVD at 6.0 and SRS at 5.4, our study demonstrated a smaller discrepancy in QALYs gained than
Sivakanthan. However, Sivakanthan s study only used one article each to calculate the QALYs for...

These studies suggest that the durability of pain relief with MVD greatly influences patient
satisfaction with the procedure. However, they used a small number of patients, and adequate
literature on patient satisfaction is lacking. Our results must be interpreted with caution. The model
makes several simplifying assumptions, any of which can impact our results. Our data arise from a
series of indirect, nonrandomized comparisons, within which there is clinical heterogeneity. The
studies analyzed varied with respect to patient selection, baseline severity of pain, treatment
assignment, outcome parameters measured and time of follow up. The use of a random effects
model partially compensates for heterogeneity but cannot completely correct for it. For example,
the majority of TN studies fail to record the preoperative level of pain, preventing a comparison
between the two(16). While there are clinical pain scales to correct this problem, they were not
used in our analysis(59, 60). Our reliance on trial level data rather than individual patient
information may also introduce aggregation bias.
In addition to Monte Carlo simulations, we ran sensitivity analyses in which we systematically
varied values of each major variable. None had significant impact on our results except when varied
to extreme values. We cannot rule age out as an independent predictor of outcome in MVD,
suggesting SRS may be the more effective treatment in the elderly. There

Communist Party And Anti Corruption
On April 17, 1989, thousands of student protesters flooded Tiananmen Square, Beijing, to mourn
Hu Yaobang s death. Yaobang was the former General Secretary of the Communist Party and also
served as a symbol of political reform and anti corruption. The students asked the government to
end corruption and to give political and economic reform. Demonstrations spread to different cities,
with workers joining in. They complained about money and housing issues. The spread of the
demonstrations concerned Party leaders, who thought there was going to be rebellion from the
protesters. Li Peng, who ranked second in the Party, believed that they should nip it in the bud,
while Party General Secretary Zhao Ziyangthought that Yaobang s memorial... Show more content

All this does is help demonstrations spread. At this point, foreign coverage of the
demonstrations is commonplace, but Party members cannot agree on how to handle the
situation. With students going back to their classes, the protesters didn t have any real
leadership. Different factions did different things. Tension arose in the Communist Party while
preparing for Soviet Party Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev s trip to Beijing. Xiaoping wanted to
solve the protester situation peacefully, but at the same time, he wanted them out of the Square
for Gorbachev s arrival. However, this would not be the case. On May 13, over 100 students in
Tiananmen Square started a hunger strike in hopes for talks with the leaders of the Communist
Party, knowing Gorbachev would arrive shortly. On May 15, Gorbachev arrived in Beijing. He
was there for the first ever Sino Soviet summit since 1959, 30 years prior. Unfortunately for him,
the strike made plans for him welcomed in the Square be canceled. By the day after he arrived,
there were at least 3,000 people that joined the strike, which was humiliating to Gorbachev.
While this was happening, Zhao and Peng kept their respective stances; Zhao believed they should
listen to the people and make reforms, while Peng maintained that the protesters were no good and
that they were aiming to overthrow the Party. Xiaoping ignored

Cultural Identity Development
Before we delve into how culture and society heavily influences our identity, we must consider
what makes a society a society. In a sense, a society is expounded as a group of individuals who
live under a particular ambiance and collaborate in the exchange of words while sharing common
interests and aims amongst each other. The people of today have the fascinating ability to
accumulate unique ideas that could potentially change the world as well as influence others into
how they may think of themselves. I am drawn to the thought that in order for there to be change,
there must be those who are willing to sacrifice. Unfortunately, there are some things that go
sacrificed unwillingly but are condoned by the majority as the norm. The culturethat we hold
behind our identities often becomes distorted by outside factors such as our peers and the world
around us. The moment we are born into this world, we are exposed to new stimuli on a daily
basis. Things like friends and family have a huge influence on one s identity. Humans are naturally
driven by the strong desire of belongingness within our communities and so we look for the
fragments that develop our identities. Individuals seek traits that will make others... Show more

No matter who you are or what environment you live under, the physical or mental aspects of that
particular individual will be greatly affected by the society that they themselves explore every day.
Before we answer this particular question, we must understand just how human identity is
developed, what culture consists of, and then drive towards our conclusion of how culture
influences identity development. For the most part, in order to know what stimulates the growth of
identity development, we must comprehend how identity is developed. Identity development starts
with infants realizing their sense of self which perpetuates throughout childhood and then becomes

  • 7. The Stroop Effect Essay The Stroop effect is demonstrated by the reaction time to determine a color when the color is printed in a different color s name. Participants respond slower or make more errors when the meaning of the word is incongruent with the color of the word. Despite knowing the meaning of the word, participants showed incapability of ignoring the stimulus attribute. This reflects a clear instance of semantic interference and an unfathomed failure of selective attention (Stroop, 1935). In the study of the female chimpanzee Lana, the authors tested the Stroop like effect with an animal to gather evidence from a nonverbal organism to provide additional information about the role of compatibility between response latency and performance accuracy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consistent with over selective attention, psychopath offenders displayed reduced Stroop interference on the separated color word Stroop and picture word Stroop tasks relative to offenders who were not psychopaths. However, psychopath offenders displayed normal Stroop interference on the standard color word Stroop. This information suggest a circumscribed attention deficit in psychopaths that hinders the use of unattended information that is (a) not integrated with deliberately attended information and (b) not compatible with current goal directed behavior (Hiatt, Schmitt, Newman, 2004). In another study, five experiments were conducted to determine if coloring a single Stroop element reduced automaticity or slowed the processing of a color. The results demonstrated that indeed it slowed processing of congruent and neutral stimuli more than it slows processing of incongruent stimuli (Monahan, 2001). In experiment 1, participants were instructed to press a key to determine if the stimulus was red, blue, yellow, or green. On the second half of the experiment, the stimulus appeared in grey with only one colored letter which was positioned randomly. Error rates for the experiment were below 2.5% for each condition, which is quite low. • 8. Taking a Look at Asian Women Stereotypes 1.Explicit yellowface is that it creates power imbalance between white and Asian/Americans. That it is okay for racial masquerading and playing yellowface, as well as adopting characteristics and behaviors. 2.Implicit yellowface is that only Asians are type cast for these roles and unfortunately, someone has to play the role and most the time it is the Asian actor. This assumption states that Asians/Americans are interchangeable all Asians are the same. 1.By regulating Camptowns by the US military and by Korea (Yuh 18), women were tested for STI s twice a week (Yuh 24). The US military police created this system where if women tested positive they were not informed nor were they informed on who gave them the infection (Yuh 29). These women were harassed by both sides American and Korea for proof that they were tested (Yuh 29). 2.Another example is the US soldiers viewed these women as entertainers. In Vietnam, an installation of prostitution servicing four thousand US soldiers was specially created by and for the benefits of the US soldiers (Yuh 16). Sugar maple trees are tapped for their sap, which is reduced to make maple syrup and reduced even further to make maple sugar. Maple trees are native to Asia but can also be found in Europe, Africa and North America. There are about 128 species of maple tree. The wood from maple trees is classified as a hardwood, which means that it is dense and relatively dry when compared to the wood from softwoods. Which foods work best with the maple wood chip flavor? Maple wood s sweetness is thought to be best for pork and poultry and will pair well with their flavors. This is because those meats are milder and maple wood enhances their flavors without canceling them out the way a stronger tasting wood might. During his time as a slave, Equiano faces a journey that challenges him mentally, physically, and spiritually. Through his journey, Equiano finds that the pathway to freedom is through intellectual development, and his new religious finding of God through the bible. Our data arise from a series of indirect, nonrandomized comparisons, within which there is clinical heterogeneity. The studies analyzed varied with respect to patient selection, baseline severity of pain, treatment assignment, outcome parameters measured and time of follow up. The use of a random effects model partially compensates for heterogeneity but cannot completely correct for it. For example, the majority of TN studies fail to record the preoperative level of pain, preventing a comparison between the two(16). While there are clinical pain scales to correct this problem, they were not used in our analysis(59, 60). Our reliance on trial level data rather than individual patient information may also introduce aggregation bias. In addition to Monte Carlo simulations, we ran sensitivity analyses in which we systematically varied values of each major variable. None had significant impact on our results except when varied to extreme values. We cannot rule age out as an independent predictor of outcome in MVD, suggesting SRS may be the more effective treatment in the elderly. There ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
